  1. I want to talk to you tonight about the subject of being smeared or just anointed for service.

  2. I wanted to see how many people I could entice to click on my weird title of my message in case they thought they could get some juicy gossip or something like that.

  3. But you know, the anointing is literally.

  4. The word anointing means we've been smeared.

  5. We've been smeared with God's presence, with the holy anointing oil.

  6. And so I want to start when 1 Peter, chapter 2, verse 9, but you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood I want to call out that word priesthood, a holy nation, his own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of him, who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light, who were once not a people, but now are the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

    1 Peter 2:9

  7. So I just want to remind you that you are a holy priesthood.

  8. God called you a royal priesthood and a holy nation.

  9. And why does this the verse here, why does it start with a word?

  10. But Well, peter is contrasting you, the church of the living God today, believers in him.

  11. He is contrasting that with the Jewish people, who are God's chosen people also, but who rejected him at that time who had rejected Jesus and they did not obey, and said in verse 7, therefore, to you who believe he is precious, jesus, the cornerstone is precious, but to those who are disobedient, the stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone, and that they stumble, being disobedient to the word.

  12. So we don't want to stumble, being disobedient to the word.

  13. You know, they were chosen also, and yet they disobeyed and they did not get the great honor that we get now of serving Jesus in the Latter-day Church.

  14. So we want to be faithful over our calling.

  15. We're a chosen generation, we're a royal priesthood, and so what does that mean?

  16. Let me just hammer that home really quick, though, because Peter is not the only apostle who mentions that we're priests.

  17. It's also mentioned in the book of Revelation by the apostle John in verse let's do 5b to him who loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood and has made us kings and priests to God and his God and Father.

  18. To him be glory and dominion forever and ever.

  19. Amen.

  20. So that's Jesus.

  21. Jesus made us kings and priests, and also again in Revelation, 5.

  22. And have made us kings and priests to our God and we shall reign on the earth, we shall reign on the earth, and so we are a kingdom of priests.

  23. And what does the priest do?

  24. The priest in the Old Testament represented the people to God, and so that's a job that we have today to stand in the gap to represent sinful humanity to God.

  25. And how can we do that?

  26. How can we, the imperfect people that we are, actually be worthy to stand in the office of the priest?

  27. A high and holy office like that?

  28. I mean, it is too high, we cannot attain unto it.

  29. And yet Jesus has made a way behind the veil.

  30. So let's look at what the Old Testament priest did, what, how the Old Testament priest was commissioned.

  31. And so we're gonna go back to Leviticus, chapter eight.

  32. First, the priest.

  33. Obviously he had to be, he had to be anointed with oil.

  34. And so in verse 10, leviticus eight, it said also Moses took the anointing oil.

  35. Now we're talking about what Moses did to his brother Aaron, the very first priest.

  36. He said Moses took the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and all that was in it and consecrated them.

  37. So when something is anointed or smeared with oil, it is consecrated, it is set apart, it is holy, it is only for the use of God's stuff and cannot be used for any other purpose, and so it's holy.

  38. So all of the tabernacle and all of the tools therein.

  39. He sprinkled some of it on the altar seven times.

  40. He anointed the altar and all its utensils and the labor in its base to consecrate them, and the labor was just a big wash basin.

  41. And he poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron's head and anointed him to consecrate him.

  42. So that oil, the anointing oil that was so special, it came down on Aaron's head and you know, jesus is our great high priest.

  43. He was anointed, the Bible says, with the oil of joy, above his fellows.

  44. Jesus, our head of the church, was anointed with the oil and it flows down his beard.

  45. Psalm 133 talks about that oil flowing down the beard of Aaron and it gets all over the Aaron's body.

  46. It gets all over Jesus' body, the church, and we have that anointing oil on us and it sets us apart and makes us holy for the service that God's called us to.

  47. I wanna talk about that oil a little bit because it is very special In the New Testament.

  48. Obviously the oil represents the presence of God, the Holy Spirit that comes in our life and helps us to do the things that God's called us to do.

  49. But in the Old Testament oil, this holy anointing oil, they used to anoint the prophet, the priest and the king.

  50. That oil was so special you can read the ingredients of that oil in Exodus 30, but it contained cinnamon and sweet cane and cassia and olive oil and myrrh mostly myrrh and there was a special mixture.

  51. It gives the exact ratio and they mixed this oil and no one else was ever allowed to mix the oil like that.

  52. If anyone else made a fake oil, if they used that recipe to make their own oil such that they could impersonate the smell of a priest or any of the tabernacle implements that were anointed with that oil, if they tried to fake it, then they had to be excommunicated and put away from the people.

  53. They were not even any longer called a Jew and so they couldn't be God's people anymore if they faked the anointing oil.

  54. That's how serious God was about this priesthood.

  55. He wanted the priest to have that oil on them and to smell a certain way.

  56. And God wants us to smell a certain way.

  57. We carry the fragrance of Almighty God.

  58. We carry the fragrance of Jesus Christ and his victory everywhere we go.

  59. The new Sezment tells us that All right, but not only did that oil get poured over Aaron's head.

  60. Later in that same chapter Moses goes about anointing Aaron with the blood of a ram.

  61. There were actually two rams One was sacrificed already, and then the second one was called the Ram of Consecration.

  62. And then Aaron verse 23, and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram and Moses killed it and he took some of the blood of this ram and put it on the tip of Aaron's right ear and the thumb of his right hand and the big toe of his right foot.

  63. And then he brought Aaron's sons and Moses put some of the blood on the tips of their right ears, on their thumbs of the right hands and on the big toes of their right feet, and Moses sprinkled the blood all around the altar.

  64. So at that time Moses put blood on three places of the priest's body and then he took that same blood from that same animal and he put that blood on the altar or around the altar, and it was saying, in other words, that you're married to this altar, that the priest has been anointed with the same blood and the smearing or the anointing.

  65. When God smears you.

  66. He is associating you forever with him, just like he was associating those priests.

  67. He was setting them apart.

  68. They'll never be good for any other purpose.

  69. They are set apart for the priesthood, and that's the way we are.

  70. When we are born again with the blood of Jesus, the precious blood of the ram caught in the thicket, jesus anoints us with his blood and he puts it on our ear, our thumb and our toe, and so we're anointed with oil on our head and with Jesus' blood all over us, and so I want you to know how special that is.

  71. The devil would like to smear you with something else, and let me just tell you that recently my dog and I feel like God maybe feels like this too.

  72. James and I were talking about this recently that God, he loves people, he loves us so much, but our sin stinks to him, and I love my dog a whole lot, but he has bad breath, y'all.

  73. He's a dog and he's smell.

  74. Yeah, that always has no matter if, even if he's clean, he still has a certain smell that I have never.

  75. I didn't grow up around dogs, so I've only recently become a dog person and y'all I love him so much, but he stinks.

  76. He still stinks to me, I like.

  77. One time I literally put I had some oil and like some lavender oil, y'all essential oil.

  78. It was really.

  79. I like the way that smells.

  80. I put it on my baby, sometimes a little bit, so they smelled good.

  81. And I tried putting it on my dog's collar and he did not like that smell.

  82. He huffed and chuffed and just bit at himself and tried to get it off and it was the most pitiful thing and we had to give him a bath.

  83. You know what he likes to smell like.

  84. He likes to smell like deer feces, because that's what he did recently.

  85. We let him out in the yard and he found some of that and he rolled in it and we could smell it from a mile away.

  86. He did not get within very far away from our back door and one of my kids smelled that smell and said, oh no, no, you are not coming in here.

  87. And he, because he liked to smell like gross.

  88. He does not like to smell pretty, he likes to smell gross.

  89. He's a dog.

  90. I love him, but he's a dog and I feel like you know, the devil would like to smear you.

  91. He would like to smear you with corruption and with sin and with darkness.

  92. He would like nothing more than to disguise the smell of the holy anointing oil that's all over you.

  93. He would like to cover that up.

  94. The devil would like to completely get that off of you.

  95. The devil would like to smear, drag your name through the mud.

  96. He would like to drag the entire church through the mud.

  97. Which is why when I see certain news stories about certain preachers or a hit piece about somebody who's doing great work in this war that we're in right now, this, I believe it's kind of a cold civil war here in our country that we're witnessing, and so when I see a smear campaign going on, then it makes me very suspicious.

  98. I never, ever, believe the first story I read about something, especially if it's negative.

  99. If it stinks like a smear campaign, then it is the devil smear campaign, and I've got to be convinced otherwise by real facts.

  100. And so the devil would like to smear you.

  101. It stinks when he does, but God wants to when he smears.

  102. There is no other oil on earth like his oil.

  103. The smell of God's fragrance on your life, the smell of victory on your life, cannot be duplicated by any other experience, by any other man.

  104. No man can copy it or duplicate it in any way.

  105. God will not be.

  106. He will not be counterfeited.

  107. And so once you have the real God, you will know and I just want to encourage you tonight if you're a believer in Jesus, you have been smeared with his holy anointing oil and with his own blood, the blood that Jesus shed on the cross on purpose, so that he could give it to you, so it could consecrate you, set you apart and make you holy.

  108. Were you worthy to become a priest?

  109. No, you were not.

  110. Only special people in the Old Testament could become a priest.

  111. They had to be a son of Aaron of the tribe of Levi, or they could be in the tribe of Levi, but either way they had to be very special.

  112. And not anyone, not just anyone, could be a priest, but God, who is rich in mercy, where his great love, where he loved us.

  113. He called us.

  114. He called us out of darkness, and anybody who calls on the name of the Lord can be saved.

  115. Anybody can be in the church of the living God if they will just give him their heart and their life.

  116. That now we are a priest, god calls us priests and he takes of that special anointing oil and he smears it on you and he takes of his own blood and he smears it on you and he consecrates you and separates you over here.

  117. And it doesn't mean that you have to be in the full-time ministry.

  118. But guess what?

  119. He gave you a ministry of reconciliation, the Bible says, and you have a believer's ministry.

  120. Every believer has a ministry, because Jesus did not.

  121. He did not Put any parameters.

  122. When he said go ye into all the world, he talked to all of his disciples.

  123. He said go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

  124. He said lay hands on the sick and they'll recover.

  125. Mark 16, you just read it.

  126. He has a commission for you, for you, and you don't have to be in the full.

  127. Nobody has to ever give you a microphone.

  128. You don't have to be in the full-time ministry.

  129. You can be a minister for him.

  130. You can carry his fragrance everywhere you go.

  131. And so let's be encouraged tonight that God thought so highly of you that he set you into his family and set you into the ministry.

  132. But I wanna take those three points.

  133. And he did so.

  134. Oh, and he did so.

  135. He anointed you with oil and he anointed you with blood, and it takes both.

  136. You know, in the Old Testament, the blood is what cleans their sin, and so that's a type of being saved and being born again and being washed in the blood of Jesus.

  137. So we've got that covered.

  138. If you're a believer tonight, you've been washed in the blood of Jesus, you've been anointed with Jesus' own blood.

  139. And then there's a second thing.

  140. After that, though, there's an anointing of the Holy Ghost.

  141. There's an infilling of the Holy Ghost that comes upon you for service to him, that fills you with such zeal and boldness, that gets ahold of your tongue and your mouth, that comes on your head and your thoughts and that equips you to walk a supernatural lifestyle, not one in your own brain tissue, according to your own thoughts and ideas.

  142. Yes, you have the water of salvation in your soul, but we need the whole load of the Holy Ghost to do what God's called us to do in the last days.

  143. So I just wanna make that point Blood and oil, blood and oil, and that's what it took to anoint a priest, and then.

  144. So I wanna take those three places, though.

  145. You know the blood was smeared on the ear, the thumb and the toe, and so let's just unpack those really quick, for just those are my three points tonight.

  146. Number one that blood is on your ear.

  147. Your ears are redeemed.

  148. So God wants you to hear his heart.

  149. Hear his heart.

  150. Anybody can listen to a bunch of words.

  151. Anybody can read off out of the Bible.

  152. Read a page, read words, words.

  153. But God wants you to truly hear the word.

  154. He wants you to hear it with your heart.

  155. If you hear God, you'll love him.

  156. Listen to Deuteronomy 6.

  157. We talk about the greatest commandment.

  158. What's the greatest commandment?

  159. And most of us could probably quote it.

  160. What's the greatest commandment?

  161. Love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and soul and mind and strength.

  162. Wait a minute, wait a minute.

  163. There's the first part, Deuteronomy 6, 3,.

  164. Therefore, hear, oh Israel, god's people hear him and be careful to observe it.

  165. So also do it.

  166. But hearing is first, and then careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, that you may multiply greatly, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you a land flowing with milk and honey.

  167. Here is real.

  168. The Lord, our God, is one.

  169. You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, all your soul and all your strength.

  170. When you hear God's heart, you will love him.

  171. Anybody who does not love God, I can tell they just haven't heard his heart yet.

  172. They've heard people talking at them.

  173. They may have heard the words of the gospel, but they have not heard the heart of God.

  174. If you heard him, you would love him.

  175. And if you hear him in your daily life, if when you're reading the word of God, the words jump off of the page to you, that is you hearing him.

  176. And he wants you to truly hear, not just words.

  177. He wants you to hear his heart and so hear.

  178. The anointing is smeared and Jesus's blood is smeared on your ear.

  179. It will change what you hear.

  180. So close your ears to the things of this world.

  181. You do have an anointing.

  182. The apostle John says first, john, he says you have an anointing from the Holy Ghost, from the Holy One, and you will know you don't have any.

  183. Anyone, no one needs to teach you what I've told you.

  184. You'll know if something's false or true.

  185. You have an anointing to know that because you'll have an anointing, you're smeared and you won't believe a lie.

  186. And so I pray that.

  187. I mean just because the word says it, though.

  188. We have to enforce it in our lives.

  189. It doesn't just accidentally come true, because God spoke it a long time ago.

  190. We have to agree with it, speak it over our lives, claim it, receive it for ourselves and for our kids.

  191. And I can tell you that's one thing I pray over my kids every day that they would love the Lord, their God, with all their heart and soul, mind and strength.

  192. That when they hear good things that it would sink into their heart and they would do those things, and when they hear bad things, that it would just bounce right off.

  193. And that's what I pray over your kids during this back to school time.

  194. But hearing God's heart is something that we're anointed to do.

  195. You are anointed to hear God.

  196. Don't listen for a voice.

  197. Don't listen for a voice, listen for his word.

  198. If you hear a voice, beware, test that spirit, but listen for his word and follow the inner witness of peace in your heart.

  199. That's how you'll hear what God has for you.

  200. And then, number two the priest was anointed on his thumb.

  201. They were his right thumb and um.

  202. And so that to me, speaks that God has anointed you to do something, do his word and do his work.

  203. So, going back to just to do erotomy 6, it said Hero, israel, and be careful to observe it, be watch over.

  204. If God watches over his word to perform it, then we ought to be the same way.

  205. We ought to be watching over his word to do it, to really, really apply it in our lives.

  206. And and not just.

  207. You know, there's a certain level we can enjoy, that we have our needs met.

  208. We want to apply God's word to our health so we can be strong and healthy and we know that's God's promise and that's right and true and good.

  209. We apply God's word to our finances because he we know he's supplied every need.

  210. And those are certain things we should.

  211. We should be taking care of business in our own lives.

  212. But then we are anointed.

  213. The priest actually had a job.

  214. He was anointed on his right thumb so that he could do the work of God every day.

  215. He could stand and represent the people to God.

  216. He could enter into the holy of Holies and and minister to the Lord the sacrifices, the sin and trespass offerings of the people, the thank offerings of the people.

  217. He was ministering those things to God On behalf of the people.

  218. And so what work are you doing?

  219. You're anointed to do something.

  220. Your hands, he blesses the work of your hands.

  221. He establishes the work of your hands.

  222. The Psalm says and um, so he wants you to do something.

  223. He did not Call you to sit on the couch in the last days.

  224. You are a chosen generation and you are chosen for this time, and there is something God is calling you to Rise up and do for him, and and it might be praying, but even praying has actions with it it has something that God will call you to rise up and do.

  225. And so what is that thing you're doing?

  226. I am a local church girl.

  227. I am telling you, and that the God is using the local church in the last days To unite his people together, because one will put a thousand of flight, but two can put 10,000 of flight.

  228. We are so much stronger together when we have all of our anointing pulled, and it multiplies its exponential when we work together.

  229. And so I know that God is using the local church.

  230. So if you don't have another place to serve, serve in your local church, serve right here at glorious way.

  231. We need you.

  232. We have a place for you to serve, for you to do something, for you to test and use the gift and anointing that God gave you.

  233. You know what none of these priests thought they were worthy.

  234. It was just normal for them to work in the ministry because they were a son of Aaron or they were in the tribe of Levi.

  235. They were called and they were supposed to serve God in his priesthood.

  236. You know what we are called.

  237. We're supposed to serve him, we are supposed to be active about our faith.

  238. And so what has God called you to do?

  239. And if you haven't found it yet, let us help you.

  240. Let us help you find it, because we will, I.

  241. You know why I'm so passionate about it?

  242. Because I'm speaking from my heart and I'm going to tell you guys Just a story from my life.

  243. But let me finish my third point and then I'll tie it together with my my story.

  244. So there you know, the priest is anointed on his ear, he's anointed on his thumb and he's anointed on his toe.

  245. So my third point and last point tonight is just go, go, every place the soul of your foot shall tread.

  246. I've given you.

  247. God told Joshua that Go with God, go, follow his locational will for your life.

  248. There is a locational will for your life.

  249. Uh, you know, the anointing was on the toe.

  250. You cannot balance Without a big toe is very difficult.

  251. You can, but it's very difficult.

  252. That's your, that's your balance and it's also your standing.

  253. And so, uh, god's given you balance, he's given you a standing, and he has a locational will of God for your life.

  254. And, uh, and he has a promised land for Israel.

  255. Go back again to here we are instilling, deuteronomy 6.

  256. It said hero Israel, observe the word that at me may be well with you, and and that you'll have the land I promised you, a land flowing with milk and honey.

  257. Here, do and dwell in the land.

  258. Song 37 says dwell in the land and feed on his faithfulness.

  259. Trust in the Lord, dwell in the land, feed on his faithfulness.

  260. So when you dwell in the land, when you are in God's locational will, then he can bless you there.

  261. He has blessings that he's pouring out on your life, but you have to be in that place to get it.

  262. And um, it's a general, you know.

  263. Am I living in the right city?

  264. Okay, that's a good question.

  265. Am I living in the right city or town?

  266. Am I in the right neighborhood?

  267. Am I?

  268. Am I going to the right church?

  269. Am I going?

  270. Uh, and then, and then you can dial down every day.

  271. Did I, did I go to the places today that God wanted me to go today?

  272. Did I do?

  273. Did I do the things that God wanted me to do today?

  274. Did I go?

  275. Was I in the locational will you know?

  276. Should I stand over here, over there?

  277. Now I'm getting really personal.

  278. But God see, god wants us to hear and obey him and and be so yielded to him that we're, at any given moment, we're right where he put us in this three-dimensional chess game called life, because it's going, it's getting serious, isn't it?

  279. Do y'all feel like getting serious out there?

  280. We need to be able to follow God and let him take us Uh, let it to hear him, to do his word and to let him take us exactly where and place us where he wants us.

  281. Uh, so praise god.

  282. I hope that bless you tonight.

  283. I'm gonna tie it together for you because I have been, uh, I have I have lived where I have not heard God's heart, where I have missed a chance to serve him and do his word and where I almost was completely out of the locational will of God.

  284. And that and I'm it's funny because I've been thinking about that time in my life a lot lately, because my oldest child is is choosing a, a path for her life right now decide where she may go to university, where she what she wants to do for a career, what God is calling her to do.

  285. And so, just in all of those different conversations, I I just remember that time in my life so much and I can tell you, when I was in college I all I almost ended up in the wrong city, married to the wrong person, doing the wrong thing, because I did not hear God's heart.

  286. I I knew that I was not in the right place, I knew I wasn't dating the right person, but I had a, an idea of what I thought I wanted and I was trying to make it happen and I had selective hearing.

  287. Do you ever have selective hearing?

  288. When you pray and you ask God something and you want it to be, you want the answer to be one thing, but you know cause, the peace of God is leading you to this other thing.

  289. But in your soul you have made up your mind that you think there should be this thing over here.

  290. So you just keep praying and you're just ignoring God.

  291. Talking to God is talking to you over here, but you're have you been there?

  292. Cause I was there and and and, so I had to shut that down and, because of that, in in just in that dry place where I was spiritually when I was going to college.

  293. I was away from my family.

  294. I I looked for a church, I looked for spirit-filled believers.

  295. I did not find very many and I did not really ever find a good church where I was.

  296. So I was not getting spiritually nourished like I should and, and I didn't.

  297. I think it wasn't really so much the nourishment cause.

  298. I can read my Bible, but I did not have a place to plug in and serve.

  299. When we talked about your anointed God's anointed you on the thumb to do something for him.

  300. I had been used to being very active for the things of God.

  301. I worked at a summer camp as a teenager.

  302. I mean the whole summer, and when I say worked I mean I mean we had maybe five hours of sleep and the rest of our day was working, cleaning stuff, cooking stuff, making camp signs.

  303. I even did a Bible study at 16.

  304. I'd said everything I knew about the book of Ephesians in about 10 minutes, but it was a 30 minute class, so then I sat there less than 20 minutes I was like, okay, well, we're done, y'all can talk, so, so funny.

  305. But I had a heart to serve.

  306. I didn't know much, but I had a heart to serve and I had an outflow.

  307. I had something to do.

  308. I always had some leadership in my church that I could do, even as a teenager I had and.

  309. But then when I got to college I didn't have that and and it became about me, me, me, and when I came home to I could hear the word.

  310. My pastor, john Osteen, preached the word to me and my dad was there at home just to help me get straight with my thinking.

  311. But I just lacked that place to give and serve and I think it took me out of position and I almost ended up in the wrong city, married to the wrong person doing the wrong thing, and and it would have completely sidetracked me.

  312. And how awesome it was to wait on the actual plan of God, cause he's so merciful and cause I know my mom had prayed for me and probably Loretta Dyer, probably Loretta Dyer also prayed, cause my mom made her pray all the time for me, I know, for me.

  313. Thank you, loretta.

  314. God bless you, loretta, but y'all thank you for.

  315. Thank you for standing for your family, because that's your.

  316. When you pray, god does something, he moves heaven and earth and he has mercy on us and he has a plan for our lives that can still be fulfilled.

  317. So don't give up on your family and certainly don't give up on yourself.

  318. Let the anointing come on you.

  319. Let him come on your hearing and on your doing and on your going, and see what God will do, see how he'll bless you.
