  1. We started a.

  2. In youth, we started a new theme words that last.

  3. So I'm just going to share with you a couple of scriptures tonight regarding our words and the importance of our words.

  4. Let's start out in prayer, father.

  5. We just thank you, lord, for your word.

  6. I thank you, father, that your word is alive, it is powerful, it is sharp, and so we just thank you.

  7. As we dig into your word, father, we come alive in your word, father, and we just thank you that you didn't leave us as orphans, but you gave us the Holy Spirit.

  8. He is a gentleman, he is our comforter, our counselor, and so we just thank you.

  9. We, we lean back in your word tonight, father, because we know that your word produces life, everlasting life, father.

  10. So our hearts are open, our ears are open to what you have to say tonight is not my words, but it's you speaking through me.

  11. So we are just vessels here on this earth to bring you glory, and so we just give you all the glory and all the honor and all of the praise in Jesus' name, amen, amen and so.

  12. So in youth, we started a new theme called words that last.

  13. In our theme Scriptures, Proverbs 1821,.

  14. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

  15. And actually I've been meditating in the message Bible, in Proverbs 1821, says words kill, words give life.

  16. They're either poison or fruit.

  17. You choose, and so it's our choice, the words that we say.

  18. You know we choose what words come out of our mouth, the daily.

  19. And so tonight, the title of my message, if you're taking notes or you can just type it there on the screen the power of your words.

  20. And so the words we speak have power.

  21. They're life or death.

  22. They can.

  23. They can build or destroy.

  24. They can empower other people.

  25. And so the words we speak, not only to each other, but the words that we speak to ourselves and in our minds, like those, are powerful, and so we have to make sure that they're making a an internal impact.

  26. There are, words are gracious, and so we can take control of our life right by the words that we speak.

  27. And so it's very important.

  28. I said it, I think it was last Sunday in youth.

  29. You know words are sticky, they stick to people, right?

  30. You know how you're eating like something sticky, like cinnamon rolls or just something gooey, and it is sticky and you can't get it off of your hands.

  31. You know, thank you.

  32. But pancake syrup, jason and Jamama, yep, there it's sticky.

  33. Syrup is sticky, and so words are sticky and they will stick to you.

  34. And so the words that we speak and maybe you know, I'm sure everybody has stories about words that have been, that have been spoken over you, words that have been said by other people, your words that you say to yourself, so words can stick.

  35. And so so what comes out of our mouth, it matters, right, what we say, those words matter, and so the word of God has a lot to say about many scriptures regarding the words that we speak.

  36. Psalm 119, 14 and the new King James, psalm 1914 says let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, o Lord, my strength and my redeemer.

  37. Let me read that again Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, o Lord, my strength and my redeemer.

  38. So so God's listening right, and so may our words be pure and holy, may they be acceptable in front of God.

  39. And so words are very important.

  40. Ephesians 4, 29 and the new King James says let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers?

  41. Not good.

  42. And the message Ephesians 4, 29.

  43. And the message says watch the way you talk.

  44. So not only talking and the words, but the way you talk.

  45. It's so important.

  46. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth.

  47. Say only what helps.

  48. Each word a gift.

  49. So just think about that for a moment.

  50. Each word that we say is a gift.

  51. Is it a gift that somebody wants to?

  52. You know, unpackage and unravel and it is a good gift and it it lets out a sweet aroma, or is it a stinky gift?

  53. You know the, the, what we say.

  54. So here in Ephesians, paul saying hey, watch the way you talk, listen, let no corrupt word come out of your mouth.

  55. And we all have to do it.

  56. We all have to, not just, not just for y'all, everybody, parents, kids, grandparents, young and old, we all have to watch what we say.

  57. It is so important.

  58. Proverbs 12, 18 in the NIV says the words of the reckless pierce like swords.

  59. But the tongue, everybody say, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

  60. You know, sometimes we think of healing just in a, in a.

  61. You know, your body, but body, yes, but spirit, soul and body.

  62. So your words are so powerful.

  63. You know, the reckless words are like swords.

  64. They, it it can pierce.

  65. It says but the tongue of the wise, your, your faith filled words, your, your words full of wisdom, they, they bring healing to somebody else, they can bring healing to somebody else.

  66. So our words are very important.

  67. There is power in our words.

  68. Proverbs 15, 4, and the ESV says a gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.

  69. So a gentle tongue, not a harsh tongue, you know, well, they said this to me and I just I got to get the last word no, no, a gentle tongue.

  70. And you might be in the right that, hey, you got some things that you have to be, that have to need to be said.

  71. But here the word of God says a gentle tongue is a tree of life.

  72. Right, when we answer gently, well, we're not stirred up and mad and upset and and our emotions are high, and you know, I got to say what I got to say no, a gentle tongue is a tree of life.

  73. So that's so good, right, we don't want to break the spirit.

  74. Perverseness, and it breaks the spirit.

  75. We don't want to break our spirit.

  76. We don't want to break anybody else's spirit.

  77. We want to make sure that we have a gentle tongue.

  78. First, peter 3, 10 and the new living translation.

  79. If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, how many of y'all want to enjoy life, me?

  80. How many want to see happy days?

  81. Me, me, us, we all do Right.

  82. If y'all were all here, I'd get a show of hands.

  83. Nobody wants to have a sad life.

  84. Nobody wants to have sad days.

  85. If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue.

  86. He could have said anything right there.

  87. If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, you know, just go to church on Sunday mornings.

  88. No, it's, it's good to go to church on Sunday mornings, but here he is talking about keeping our tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies.

  89. Isn't that good?

  90. So what we say?

  91. There is power in what we say.

  92. It.

  93. You know it's a direct reflection of whether we are going to have enjoy life or see happy days ahead.

  94. Always pray our, our greatest, our brightest days are ahead.

  95. Our greatest days are ahead.

  96. Well, not if we're not.

  97. Our words aren't talking in line with the word of God.

  98. We have to make sure that our words are in line with the word of God, amen.

  99. And so the Bible has a lot of scriptures to say.

  100. What about our tongue and what we say?

  101. And so I just have two points tonight.

  102. Number one declare God's word only.

  103. Declare God's word only.

  104. And when I was studying and I got that first point, I thought about it is written.

  105. So if you want to turn in Matthew four and then you, king James, this is where Satan tempts Jesus, and I'm gonna read a couple of verses here for you Matthew 4-1,.

  106. Then Jesus was led up by the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, and when he had fasted for 40 days and 40 nights, afterward he was hungry.

  107. Have y'all ever been hungry, right?

  108. Probably the number one question at my house has been oh, since the kids were little, from J everybody what's for dinner?

  109. What's for dinner, what's for lunch?

  110. What are we gonna eat?

  111. We're hungry, right?

  112. And so here Jesus had a fasted.

  113. Now, when the tempter came to him, he said if you are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread Verse four.

  114. But he answered and said it is written.

  115. It is written.

  116. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

  117. And I just wanna read to you the word wealth here, and the word Greek word Ramah, that which is said or spoken in utterance.

  118. In contrast to logos, which is the expression of a thought, a message, a discourse, legos is the message, ramah is the communication of the message.

  119. So a Ramah word, verse five.

  120. Then the devil took him up into the holy city, set him up on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him if, if you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, he shall give his angels charge over you and in their hands they shall bear you up lest you dash your foot against a stone.

  121. He and right here in my Bible.

  122. I wrote down some notes.

  123. When I put if you're a Son of God, the enemy attacks.

  124. It was attacking his identity.

  125. If you're the Son of God, oh, do this.

  126. If you're him, do that.

  127. The enemy will always try to attack your identity of who you are in Christ.

  128. So we have to be firm in who we are and who's we are in Christ, here, in a weak moment where Jesus had been fasting, in a weak moment of things aren't going right.

  129. What am I gonna do?

  130. Am I gonna cave under pressure?

  131. Am I gonna say yes to the devil?

  132. Am I gonna say yes to sin?

  133. Am I gonna say yes to my own thing?

  134. You can, and there is the pathway for that.

  135. But but God, jesus said uh-uh, it is written.

  136. Here is the word.

  137. It is written again.

  138. You shall not.

  139. Verse seven Jesus said to him it is written again you shall not tempt the Lord, your God.

  140. Maybe we should say that.

  141. Well, if we're tempted by things, maybe, uh-uh, don't think so.

  142. It is written.

  143. Declare the word Right.

  144. Well, that's my point number one declare.

  145. What word are you declaring?

  146. Is it complaints?

  147. Is it what we see in the natural?

  148. Is it all these things that are gonna perish eventually and pass away?

  149. Right, but God's word does not pass away, it remains, and so we should be just like Jesus.

  150. We should be declaring.

  151. What are you declaring?

  152. Are you declaring that it is written?

  153. Jesus did.

  154. Jesus said to him it is written again you shall not tempt the Lord, your God.

  155. Verse eight again.

  156. The devil took him up on exceeding high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of this world and their glory.

  157. He's like look, jesus, look at all these kingdoms.

  158. And he said to him all these things I will give to you if you fall down and worship me.

  159. Then Jesus, verse 10,.

  160. Then Jesus said to him away with you, satan.

  161. Away with you, for it is written get out of here.

  162. Any of y'all ever say get out of here?

  163. We just had a new member on Sunday and she Justin was.

  164. She was giving her testimony.

  165. Well, justin was giving her testimony for her, but, like she, what was it like at her house?

  166. She was like get away, satan.

  167. And you know, close the door on him.

  168. Like, hey, we away with you, satan, for it is written you shall worship the Lord, your God, and him only you shall serve.

  169. Then the devil left him and beheld, angels came and ministered to him, and that good.

  170. So it is written declare the word over your situation.

  171. Declare the word over your body.

  172. Declare the word over your marriage.

  173. Declare the word over your kids.

  174. Declare the word over your work situation.

  175. Declare the word over your workers, over your boss.

  176. Declare the word over your home life.

  177. God, it is written you shall not tempt.

  178. It is written I will only worship the Lord, I will not have any other idols.

  179. And so we have to declare the word.

  180. There is power in declaring the word.

  181. When you declare the word, you are powerful.

  182. No enemy in hell can stop you, and so it's.

  183. We shouldn't just say our words or you know, uh, whatever words, but we should declare God's word.

  184. Um, and I'll put here, as long as your words are in line with the word of God's, satan can't touch you.

  185. Our words have to be in line with the word of God.

  186. We can't just do our own thing.

  187. They have to be in line with the word of God.

  188. There is power, um, when we answer the enemy, there is power when we answer, uh, his lies that come your way, answer those lies.

  189. It is written, uh, matthew 12, 36, on the contrary.

  190. So we have to declare God's word and then Matthew 12.

  191. Uh, but I say to you that for every idol, word, men uh may speak.

  192. They will give an account of it in the day of judgment.

  193. And uh, there was a commentary and I wanted to read that to you, the keywords and this passenger, idol and account.

  194. But I'm just going to read about it.

  195. Idle, the first word, idle, comes from the root Uh, the Greek word, our ghost.

  196. It means not busy, be idle, inactive, doing nothing and sterile.

  197. Let me read that again Idle means not busy, inactive, doing nothing and sterile.

  198. And so, uh, when we apply it here to Matthew 12, it has the idea of careless or casual words.

  199. Careless or casual words how many careless words have we said in our life?

  200. How many casual words?

  201. So here he's saying hey, you're going to have to give an account for every idle word that you speak, every careless word that comes out of our mouth.

  202. Is that necessary?

  203. Do I need to say that?

  204. I mean, is it?

  205. Is it it's kind of casual?

  206. Is it so like?

  207. No, we need to declare God's word.

  208. We are not declaring careless words, we are not declaring casual words.

  209. We are declaring the word of God.

  210. It has power.

  211. It has power over our lives, and so we have to make sure, um, that we declare God's word.

  212. Only speak faith, faith filled words, not fear, not full of faith, not one day, not if you know, until I see it.

  213. And then I'll start declaring no, you see it in the midst of the storm.

  214. You declare, even if you don't see it, sorry, you speak it in the midst of the storm.

  215. So we have to make sure that we're declaring God's word.

  216. It is written by the stripes of Jesus, I am healed.

  217. It is written Love your enemies, do good to those that hurt you and abuse you, do good to those, bake them a cake, it is written.

  218. So we have to make sure um to to declare God's word, and then my second point is be devoted to his word.

  219. Be devoted, we declare, and then we're devoted right To his word and to speaking his word.

  220. Only um, luke, uh six 45 in the New King James says a good man, out of the good treasure of his heart, brings forth good, brings forth good.

  221. And an evil man, out of the evil treasure of his heart, brings forth evil.

  222. For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

  223. Right, speak well, think well, it's not, you know, if somebody's not speaking well, well, something's going on in here, right, and so they're connected.

  224. They're connected.

  225. You can't just have somebody, you know, uh, speaking random words or speaking against the word of God, without, hey, something's going on in their heart, and so our heart has to be aligned with the word of God, right, a good man?

  226. Here he says, a good man, a good man or woman, brings for out of a good treasure of his heart, brings forth the good we want.

  227. I want to be that, I want to bring forth good.

  228. I know about you, but I want to bring forth good, I don't want to bring bad right.

  229. And so we have to make sure, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks so, and that's a whole another message, um, but we have to make sure our heart is aligned, staying connected, um declaring his word, um, putting his word first in our life and in every area.

  230. Um, matthew seven, 24 in the new living translation, says anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.

  231. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won't collapse because it is built on a bedrock.

  232. But anyone who hears my teachings and doesn't obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on the sand.

  233. When the rains and floods come and the wind, winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.

  234. And so here, both of them heard the word right, heard the word.

  235. I'm here on Sunday morning, I'm here here in the word, on Wednesday night, I heard the word, but what was the difference, you know?

  236. One heard and did the word one just heard, right, and so didn't obey.

  237. They heard, but then they didn't act upon the word.

  238. So, being devoted to me, that's an action.

  239. When you're devoted to something or someone, you are not going to stray, you just won't, you just can't.

  240. You are devoted, you are.

  241. It is a covenant, right.

  242. You are devoted to his word, you are devoted to this person.

  243. Yeah, you are 100% devoted.

  244. And so are we devoted to the word of God.

  245. Will we?

  246. You know, we will withstand.

  247. Storms come to all, right, the storms of life, they've come to everybody.

  248. And then so, in those storms, what will we do?

  249. Will we cave?

  250. Will we give up?

  251. No, we will not give up.

  252. I just want to encourage you Don't give up.

  253. Listen to the word and then obey it in the supernatural, but then also match.

  254. It's the supernatural and the natural working together.

  255. Um, today, when I was, uh, you know, studying the word, I thought about a funny story, not a funny story, but, um, my mom used to tell me, you know, when I was a baby, I was born in the late 70s, 78.

  256. And my mom breastfed me for a while and then, um, she went to the doctor and she, I guess she had changed from breastfeeding for a while and then like to formula.

  257. And I guess I was on formula for a while as a little baby and and then she took me to the doctor and the pediatrician was like you need a.

  258. You know she's, she's going to be you.

  259. We don't want no big, big kid, okay, cause she's getting a little chubby.

  260. You need to, you need to mix that formula with water, you know, and I was a skinny kid, thank you, mom.

  261. But how about if my mom would have been like oh, how dare you, how dare you tell me that I need them?

  262. My daughter needs to lose weight.

  263. She's a baby, she's six months old, that's her baby fat, would it?

  264. No, no, my mom's like yes sir, yes sir, we will do that, you know.

  265. And so she did that and she, she went to the pediatrician and she followed his advice, his, his orders, his.

  266. You know, nowadays I don't know what pediatricians say, but back then I mean thank God that she did.

  267. I had a wife, I have a wise mom, you know one who went.

  268. So again, I'm talking about silly little little story, but really, really, it's, it's the little things in life that lead to the, to the major things.

  269. We want the big things, right.

  270. We want the happy life, the joyful life, but it's in the daily.

  271. Will you obey?

  272. Right?

  273. It's not wrong to go to the doctor if he's telling you to lose weight, if he's telling you, hey, there's something, something going on here, what, what are we doing?

  274. What are we doing in the natural Right?

  275. And so, god's God, we have to align ourselves.

  276. He's given us his word, right?

  277. He's given us a mouth.

  278. What are we doing with it?

  279. Right?

  280. Are we declaring?

  281. Are we committed?

  282. Are we devoted to speaking his words only?

  283. So I just want to encourage you speak his words only, not what your parents say, not what your boss says, not what the government says, but speak his words only because his words are the most powerful over anybody's words.

  284. They are the most powerful.

  285. And so, first step, so?

  286. So, going back to Matthew seven, let me just read that again.

  287. Anyone who listens to my teachings and follows his wise like a person who builds a house on a rock the rains came and so it's not going to collapse.

  288. But the one who hears my teaching and doesn't obey it, is like a person who builds on the sand.

  289. So we want to make sure that we are not building on the sand, right, we don't want our house to collapse, right.

  290. So it's like you have truth, right.

  291. The first step is you have you know, kind of like my mom taking me to the doctor when I was little.

  292. You have, so something is said.

  293. Now, what do you know?

  294. There's a truth there, there's the facts.

  295. What are you going to do with that?

  296. Right, and so here we have the word.

  297. What are we going to do?

  298. God's given us his word and so we have to.

  299. Yeah, first step number one is to it's the truth.

  300. Yeah, I heard those words, but now I'm going to take further action and act upon those words.

  301. Right, and sometimes it is a bold move, depending on what you're going through.

  302. It is a bold move to step out in faith when you don't see it.

  303. Right, when your finances are falling apart, when your marriage is falling, when your kids are.

  304. You don't.

  305. If you see it, what faith do you need?

  306. You don't, you threw in the storm.

  307. That's where, hey, let's have some faith right Through the storm.

  308. So, when the storms come, your house it's not gonna be on sand, you're not gonna collapse, you're not gonna be like, OMG, what happened here?

  309. No, you're gonna be rock solid because you've been meditating on the word of God, you've been declaring the word of God which is powerful.

  310. You've been dedicated to the word of God day in and day out, amen.

  311. So I just wanna encourage you with that Stick to the word, be devoted to the word.

  312. There is power in your words.

  313. His words and our mouth are powerful, and so so we have to make sure that we are walking in the light, that we are walking in the truth, that we are devoted to His word.

  314. Death and life are in the power of the tongue.

  315. Let me go back to the beginning and read that again in the message Proverbs 18, 21.

  316. Words kill, words give life.

  317. They're either poison or fruit, you choose.

  318. And so I just wanna encourage you with that tonight Speak the word only right.

  319. Words kill, words give life.

  320. We wanna make sure that our words are faith filled words.

  321. We wanna make sure that our words are powerful words, and our words can only be powerful words with His word coming out of our mouth.

  322. Right, no matter the situation.

  323. Maybe you're facing something tonight, Maybe you've been given a report, or there's been some words spoken over you.

  324. We hey, don't let those just roll off like a duck Water on a duck's back.

  325. They just, those words, roll off.

  326. They're not gonna be sticky.

  327. Those bad words aren't gonna stick to you, right?

  328. You're not gonna replay them over and over, but you're gonna replay God's word over and over in your head.

  329. Let's just pray, father.
