We're going to get into the Word right now.
-
So let's get our Bibles and lift them up and wave them around, make Jesus glad and the devil mad.
-
Let's say this together Say Heavenly Father, I'm glad for Wednesday night because it's a time to look forward to where I can get into the Word with my brothers and sisters and with my pastor, and study the Word of God, build my faith, develop my spirit In Jesus' name, amen.
-
All right, let's look at Psalm 77, please.
-
Psalm 77, we'll read verse 11.
-
And it says I will remember the works of the Lord.
-
Surely, I will remember thy wonders of old.
-
I will meditate also of all thy work and talk of thy doings, thy way.
-
O God is in the sanctuary.
-
Who is so great a God as our God?
-
Thou art the God that doest wonders.
-
Thou hast declared thy strength among the people.
-
Thou hast, with thine arm, redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph Selah.
-
And so tonight I just want to share a simple message with you Remember his wonders, remember his wonders.
-
That Hebrew word there for wonders is also miracles.
-
It means miracles, miracles and wonders.
-
You know there are still people that they have their churches and they're taught that there was an age of miracles and it passed away.
-
And when the last apostle passed away, well, that's just wrong.
-
I mean, you know there never was an age of miracles.
-
There's a God of miracles and he's still alive, jesus Christ.
-
The same yesterday, today and forever.
-
I am the Lord.
-
I change, not Malachi, chapter four.
-
So, uh, you know he still works wonders today, and so you know we need to stir ourselves up to remember his wonders, so more will come.
-
You know, when you kind of get uh lax in that and you, you know you've had miracles, you've had wonders, and you quit talking about them, we could think it about them.
-
Uh, you know it might be it might interrupt the flow of miracles.
-
I just like to talking about them.
-
You quit thinking about them.
-
You know it might be it might interrupt the flow of miracles.
-
I just like to talk about them and preach about them, and we see them on a regular basis.
-
We like to testify about them.
-
Amen.
-
And here in Psalm 78, it just take over the next, very next page, in verse 11.
-
It says about Israel.
-
They forgot his works and his wonders that he had showed them.
-
And you know, later on in that chapter it says they limited the Holy One of Israel, because of that lack of remembering his wonders and signs that he performed in Egypt.
-
And so let's number ourselves among those who choose to remember his wonders so we can have some more of them.
-
And so in Acts chapter two, let's flip over there.
-
And Acts chapter two, this, this is Peter preaching on the day of Pentecost, and 120, you know, he had appeared to over 500 at one time and only 120 showed up in the upper room.
-
That's 24 percent, that's.
-
You know, sometimes we wonder why we don't have 100 percent participation.
-
Well, you know, it's just, it's just kind of human beings that you know, we, we have to stir ourselves up.
-
And so, in verse 19, peter's preaching to the Jews, the same people that probably rose up and cried crucify him, crucify him, some of these people right there in that crowd.
-
And he said, and he's preaching, and he's quoting the prophet Joel, and he says I will show wonders in heaven, above, and signs in the earth, beneath blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
-
The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come.
-
And so notice, he says I will show wonders.
-
And you know, I remember when I first got saved, so excited about the things that I was learning, we started going to Lakewood Church and sitting under the ministry of John Osteen.
-
Also, we were attending full gospel businessmen's meetings.
-
In those years I had a dual track.
-
I don't recommend it for everybody, but that's just how it happened for me.
-
I had kind of a dual track discipleship among men in full gospel and, of course, at Lakewood.
-
But anyway we had a chance to go to the World Convention in Anaheim, california.
-
My children were small, you know, and I had just come off a year where I had just had to live off of my savings and we started tithing.
-
After I got saved we heard the message of tithing and giving.
-
We started tithing and giving offerings over and over the tithe and we already had more income that next year than I had.
-
My tithe was more that next year than my income had been the year before, was more that next year than my income had been the year before.
-
It just radically transformed our finances, so much that we could afford to buy a plane ticket for the family of four and fly from Houston to California and stay in a hotel for three days and nights and go to the World Convention, and then we stayed over another couple of days so the kids could go to disney world.
-
It was right there at anaheim.
-
So we went to disney not disney world, disneyland, but anyway.
-
One night the kids were asleep and uh, and gladys was finishing getting ready for bed and so I, just I walked out on this little balcony we had this little tiny balcony in our hotel room, all in one room, you know and uh, walked out to the balcony and looked out over the, the southern California night, and up in the sky was a red moon, a blood moon just, and when I saw it I was reminded.
-
I didn't know much about the bible, but I remember reading this in Acts, and maybe brother Osteen preached on it, I don't know, but I just remembered about that signs and the earth beneath blood and fire and vapor, smoke, and the sun shall be turned into darkness, the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come.
-
And I just began to weep, I mean tears ran down my face and I just was thanking God for getting saved at the time I did, and I just considered it such a holy sign to me that Jesus was coming soon.
-
Here, you know, I'm looking up at that sky.
-
Here's a blood moon, southern California, full, beautiful thing.
-
It was amazing.
-
I'd never seen anything like it.
-
They're not that rare, they come occasionally, you know, but every time they come it's a sign, it's a wonder in the heavens above, a sign in the earth beneath, that Jesus is coming.
-
And so it reminded me of this verse.
-
And then you know how amazing it is that years later, 23 years later, I'm interviewing Brother Oral Roberts, and this was part of his visitation from the Lord.
-
You know, he saw this sign and he was reminded of the same thing blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
-
He saw this huge dark cloud and it was over New York City and it spread up and down the eastern seaboard and across the country and eventually around the world.
-
And and he heard the voice of the Lord my church is not ready for the second coming.
-
And and so this, this vision, you know it's a sign and a wonder, it's a, it's a, it's a billboard that says Jesus is coming soon.
-
And so you know, when you think about the blood and the fire and the vapor of smoke, so blood is a redemptive revelation.
-
You know the authority, responsibility factor.
-
We have been cleansed up.
-
We've been given authority and with that authority comes responsibility.
-
God has handed us the baton.
-
If it will.
-
Sometimes we're asking God to do all this.
-
No, he set the church down here to do it.
-
He's anointed the church to do the work.
-
He's anointed us and that blood has made us worthy, that blood has empowered us.
-
And then you've got the fire, the fire of God.
-
It burns away every hindrance.
-
It burns away infirmities.
-
It burns away.
-
You know it tempers.
-
You know you can't get a blade, a knife blade or an ax blade.
-
Any kind of cutting instrument is not going to hold an edge unless it's tempered in fire.
-
And that tempering fire uh, that the fire of God, will cause us to hold steady when there is persecution.
-
We've got a lot of persecution right now and people are calling us like names just because we want our government to listen to the church.
-
We're using our influence on school boards.
-
We're using our influence in local politics.
-
We're using our influence in local politics.
-
We're using our influence in state politics.
-
We're using our influence in national politics and you're going to see it more and more in the left.
-
They hate that and they call us Christian nationalists.
-
Well, I don't know about that term, but I'm glad to be a Christian and this is a Christian nation, by the way.
-
Why don't you study your history?
-
Don't want to know?
-
They want to keep going the way they're going.
-
But you know the church is rising up and so, and then you have the vapor of smoke, which is the glory.
-
So everybody say this out loud blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
-
You know, I see it's a sign in the heavens to remind the church that it's got the equipment to get the job done.
-
And you know, blood and fire, I mean it really.
-
To me it speaks of the word and the spirit.
-
And I remember Dr Ed Dufresne.
-
You know he's in heaven now, but he would come to our church, you know, about once a year.
-
You know, for a period of time we had a real good relationship and God visited him in the same time that God visited me to wake up the church.
-
God visited him about the Word and Spirit churches.
-
He said the Word and Spirit churches are going to catch fire and there are going to be a revival among Word and spirit churches, the blood and fire churches.
-
And so let's look here at Acts, chapter two, how it all started how it all began.
-
Notice, here he's still preaching Peter, in verse 33, still preaching to the Jews, therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Jews, therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which you now see and hear, and I want you to pay attention to that verse.
-
It says he hath shed forth this.
-
What is the this?
-
Well, speaking in tongues, on the day of Pentecost, the drunkenness of the apostles and the 120 as they came out of the upper room and he said oh no, these are not drunk, as you suppose, but this is that spoken by the prophet Joel.
-
And he quotes prophet Joel about the blood and the fire and the vapor of smoke.
-
And so notice, here he uses this very interesting phrase God hath shed forth this, which you see in here he has shed forth this.
-
Now, the word shed is the same Greek word that Jesus used when he talked about the shedding of his blood.
-
You know, at the Last Supper he said this is the blood of the new and everlasting covenant, which shall be shed for you.
-
The word shed is a identical word that Peter is using here in verse 33.
-
And the word shed means pour out, it means to gush forth, it means to, to, to shed, it means to spill.
-
I mean it's it's a forceful word, and he uses it not only with blood, but he uses it with the Holy Ghost and he uses it with wonders and signs.
-
He shed forth a wonder, see, it was a wonder to all those people that were from every country under heaven to hear the apostles speak in their own language.
-
That was a separate thing.
-
That was a wonder.
-
They went, wow, what meaneth this?
-
It was a wonder.
-
And it says he shed forth these wonders.
-
I'm telling you, god is shedding forth wonders, hallelujah, in these last days.
-
And so the blood has been shed, the Holy Ghost has been poured out, see, or shed forth.
-
And so really, when you start looking at these words, it kind of reminds you of the Levitical priesthood.
-
You know, back in the Bible days when they had the Shekinah glory, the high priest had to be prepared and he had to be dedicated in order to be able to be in the glory.
-
If he didn't have the proper preparation, he would die in the glory.
-
So the proper preparation was that they would shed the blood of an animal and they'd take the blood of that animal and I think it was a bullock and they would dip the blood and they would put blood on the right ear and on the right thumb and on the right toe.
-
They dip their hand, their finger in the blood and they dob it on the high priest right ear, his right thumb and his right toe, and then they would dip into the holy anointing oil and they would sprinkle.
-
They would sprinkle him and his garments with this holy anointing oil and then also some more of the blood would be sprinkled on him.
-
And so then, and only then, could he go into the holy of holies and offer sacrifices and be standing in the glory.
-
Well, see, that's a type and shadow of what we have here right now.
-
In the New Testament, we've been baptized in the Holy Ghost.
-
We've been blood bought and blood washed.
-
We were fully prepared for what he is shedding forth in this generation.
-
I'm telling you, god is shedding forth his signs and wonders.
-
And every believer we don't have to be a high priest anymore, we're just every believer, the priesthood of the believer, every believer.
-
We don't have to be a high priest anymore, we're just every believer, the priesthood of the believer, every believer has this equipment that we can be the vessels through which God sheds forth his wonders and his signs.
-
Praise God.
-
And so, as the high priest remembered the ordinances of the blood and the oil, then they were able to stand in the glory, and as the apostles remembered the wonders and the signs that they walked in.
-
Let's go back to Acts, chapter two, again in verse 43.
-
And it says you know, this is just after the day of Pentecost.
-
You know, 3000 people got saved on the day of Pentecost.
-
It says and fear came upon every soul and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
-
No doubt they remembered that when they were sent out by two and two, the 12, and then as part of the 70, they had operated in signs and wonders.
-
They came back to Jesus and said Jesus, even the devils are subject unto us in thy name.
-
And so they had.
-
They cast out devils, they healed many sick, they opened blind eyes, and so they had walked in those signs and wonders beforehand.
-
So now they're remembering, and they're doing it again because, as they remembered those wonders, you know they had more of them.
-
And then, if we look at Acts, chapter five.
-
It says so again here in verse 32 or verse 12, excuse me.
-
And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people, and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.
-
And so what you had was the abundance of signs and wonders and miracles, because they had been remembered.
-
You know, they didn't throw it away.
-
They didn't say, oh, that was for a different age.
-
Well, that's because Jesus was here.
-
Now he's gone, we don't have it anymore.
-
No, that's not their attitude at all.
-
As they remembered his wonders, they got an opportunity to walk more in them, and so we've been cleansed by the blood, we've been anointed by the Holy Ghost.
-
Let's just remember his wonders so that we can walk in them.
-
Amen.
-
I just want to stir you up.
-
Tonight We've got signs and wonders and miracles all around us, and let's testify of his wonders.
-
Praise God, lift your hands and receive.
-
Tonight, father, we thank you for your signs and wonders and miracles.
-
Tonight, father, we thank you for your signs and wonders and miracles.
-
We'll never forget when you do great things.
-
We will testify of your goodness and your greatness and your awesomeness.
-
We're just the vessels through which you pour.
-
Hallelujah, amen, amen, amen.
