We're going to lift our Bibles up and wave them around.
-
Why don't you get your Bible out and do the same?
-
And let's say this together Say Heavenly Father, we thank you for this wonderful Memorial Day.
-
We thank you for this wonderful Memorial Day.
-
We thank you for this wonderful Memorial Day.
-
We thank you for this wonderful Memorial Day, not only by those brave soldiers and others who laid down their life, but we thank you for this wonderful Memorial Day.
-
We thank you for this wonderful Memorial Day.
-
Jesus, who laid down his life for all of us, and we're determined to receive all that his blood has purchased for us.
-
This is the way we're able to glorify God, to move in covenant agreement with our heavenly father.
-
In Jesus name, amen, you can be seated.
-
Let's turn in our Bibles to Philippians 4, 19.
-
You can probably all quote it by now, but Philippians 4, 19, paul is writing to the church at Philippi who happened to be his partners, financial partners.
-
He said no church has opened up a credit and debit account in the Amplified no church has opened a credit and debit account concerning giving and receiving, but you only Because you gave once and again to my necessities.
-
Well, what necessities are that?
-
Food, shelter and clothing.
-
I mean, they supported Paul.
-
They didn't just support his books, they didn't just support his books, they didn't just support his.
-
You know, I don't know if he had any books, but anyway you know he did.
-
He wrote all these letters, but I mean, you know, they weren't just supporting his ministry, they were supporting him.
-
I want you to get that why?
-
Because he had poured out great spiritual truths to them.
-
Is it unreasonable, then, for someone who's received the benefit of that teaching and that life-changing revelation to then turn around and then contribute and share, you know, financially, with the person that's done that, with the person that's done that?
-
Or would you rather him have a full-time job, working 60, 80 hours a week, sweating for the world, and then maybe try to get something, some kind of little morsel for you on son?
-
Thank God, we're in the full-time ministry.
-
This church has paid for my existence and my family from day one, and I salute you because it takes people that commit.
-
One, it's just, and I salute you because it takes people that commit and I and I believe it's worth it.
-
Amen, all right.
-
So.
-
And then he said because of that, philippians 4, 19,.
-
He said you've been, you know, you've been my partners, then, my God, you've supplied my needs.
-
My God shall supply all your need according to his riches and glory, by Christ Jesus.
-
He is not just skinny, and I like the Levitt translation.
-
It says my God shall supply all your need out of the fantastic treasures amassed in Christ, amen.
-
And so and I like this that Brother Mark has taught us to say I've heard him say it now for several years and it just you know, gladys, and I say it all the time my father always takes care of me in grand style.
-
See, we've got to get this old, stingy, mingy low down, barely get along boulevard at the corner of Black Lane.
-
Spirit off of us.
-
I mean, we're sons and daughters of the most high God, he's the king of kings, he's the Lord of lords.
-
Who's the king and kings and who are the lords?
-
We're the kings, we're the lords, amen.
-
We're royalty, we're a royal priesthood, a holy nation.
-
And so we, you know these, this world's goods, this world's riches, are not for the devil's crowd, they're for us.
-
And so I've been preaching a series, and it's titled receiving your kingdom supply.
-
This happens to be the fourth in the series of that.
-
In order to get you supply conscious and not be inflation conscious, and that's not easy.
-
I mean because you're faced with everything going up every time you open up your checkbook or however you pay your bills.
-
Many of you pay online.
-
Now Modern people, they don't even use a checkbook.
-
I tried to get rid of all the checks I could.
-
I still got two vendors that I have to sit down and write an envelope out.
-
Yeah, yeah, yeah, they've got these long.
-
Such and such Alden Westfield Road.
-
Yeah, yeah, yeah, they've got these long.
-
You know such and such Alden Westfield Road.
-
Dah, dah, dah.
-
It takes a lot of writing just to address the envelope, much less fill out the check.
-
I like to pay online.
-
I want to call them and say you know you're about to be fired if you don't get with the 21st century.
-
I'm tired of writing checks.
-
But anyway, I mean, you're faced with everything going up, up, up up and if you're not careful you'll get inflation conscious, you'll get intimidated by the spirit of this age, which is the antichrist spirit.
-
The antichrist spirit is in charge of the world's finances.
-
How many of you understand that God's not in charge?
-
God is not in charge of the world's finances.
-
He owns it.
-
It all belongs to God.
-
The silver and gold belong to God.
-
All the silver, all the gold, all the oil, all the gas, everything that's of any value, all the copper they're stealing copper now.
-
You know all the electronic electric cars.
-
They can't get their charges because the thieves came through and stole the copper connectors.
-
You know just if you've got an electric car, you've got a whole lot of things to overcome just to drive five miles, you know.
-
So, praise God.
-
If you like that, that's great.
-
I don't like it, I'm not buying it.
-
I'm going to stick with gasoline or maybe diesel, I don't know, we'll see.
-
But anyway, praise God.
-
So this is a fourth message in this series.
-
I want you to everybody say I'm supply conscious.
-
See, let's pay attention.
-
We have a supply.
-
So we want to build your faith to receive more than enough.
-
It's not enough just for your needs, just for your food, the shelter and clothing for you and your four, and no more.
-
No, we need an abundance, we need an overflowing abundance.
-
Why?
-
Because we're living in the last days.
-
We're on the cusp of the greatest revival and influx of souls into the kingdom that this world has ever seen.
-
We've seen some mighty revivals I think about.
-
I mean, we've had mighty revivals where millions of people came into the kingdom.
-
You know the great awakening one, the great awakening two.
-
You know that's matters of history and we're about to go to the capstone.
-
We're we're about to go to the final one before the return of the Lord.
-
Why are you so sure about that?
-
I'll look at Israel.
-
I'm what Jesus said to watch Israel in the fig, israel in the fig tree and all the other trees.
-
I've been watching them for a long time and so that tells me all I need to know that the time is near.
-
Now I don't have a date for you.
-
We're not going to know the day or the hour, but we're going to know the season, and we're in the season of the Lord's return.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if it came today.
-
I mean everybody thinking, oh, they make up all these things and twist the word to make it seem like what they believe is true, and I don't think anybody has a total.
-
You know they don't have the right thinking on it yet.
-
God Jesus said you're not gonna know the day or the hour.
-
I just trust what he said.
-
Not even me, not even the angels are going to know it.
-
Only my Father in heaven, even Jesus doesn't know.
-
If Jesus doesn't know, the Holy Ghost doesn't and you doesn't know.
-
So how are you going to say, oh, he's coming and write a book, 88 Reasons why he's Coming in 1988.
-
See, I remember that stupid book.
-
I'm old enough to remember dum-dums.
-
And of course, when 88 hit and it didn't happen, well you know he'd already made his money, goofball.
-
I got 88 reasons why you're an idiot 188 reasons, 666 reasons.
-
Anyway, all right, so we've been looking at the revelation of the laws of the kingdom.
-
This is what you know, what John told in 3 John 2.
-
He said, beloved, I pray above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.
-
I want your soul To line up with God's word along the way of finances and how to maneuver in God's kingdom laws to get the maximum benefit.
-
There's all kind of benefits.
-
You can get a little benefit, or you can get a whole lot of benefit, or you can get no benefit, or you can have the benefit that you thought you had taken from you and given to somebody that's going to produce.
-
See, god wants you to produce.
-
Prosper means to be successful in business affairs, and literally in the Greek there in third, john two it's a long life's journey.
-
I want you successful in business affairs and to be in health, but it's as your soul prospers.
-
We have to continue to renew our minds.
-
Why?
-
Because our minds are being assaulted day and night with contrary evidence.
-
I mean, the president gets up there and lies every time he can.
-
He lies about things that are so easily disputed.
-
He said Roger Staubach kept him from going to the Naval Academy.
-
Are you kidding?
-
Your stupidity kept you out of the Naval Academy.
-
You're the dumbest guy that ever walked.
-
I don't know how he got a law degree.
-
I don't know how he did.
-
He's stupid and he always has been.
-
I followed Joe Biden for 40 years and he's no smarter now than he was back then.
-
He's dumber.
-
I think he said that at the commencement.
-
Are you crazy?
-
Yeah, he's crazy, certifiable.
-
Anyway.
-
We're assaulted by this so-called lies, this contrary evidence, everything that's printed in the newspaper.
-
You can't read the Houston Chronicle.
-
I laughed the other day.
-
Went to lunch and here's this young man sitting at the table next to me and he's got the Houston Chronicle.
-
I laughed the other day went to lunch and here's this young man sitting at the table next to me and he's got the Houston Chronicle folded out on the table and he's eating lunch and I hadn't seen anybody read a newspaper in a long time.
-
I gave that up.
-
I've got an iPhone now.
-
I just read the paper out of the iPhone.
-
I don't mess with paper, I mean paper guys.
-
Too much trouble.
-
But I just kind of laughed.
-
I said, well, I don't know what he's looking for, but he ain't going to find.
-
He might find the Astros score losing score in there, but other than that he's not going to find much that you can use.
-
So we've been looking at the laws of the kingdom and I'm not going to go into great detail.
-
If you haven't been here through one, through three the last three weeks, you need to go and and pick up the podcast and listen to it, and you need to listen to it Even if you were here.
-
You need to get it in your spirit.
-
You need to renew your mind to these truths so that they become second nature to you, so that they're your go-to way of thinking all the time, because if not, you're going to be seduced and you're going to be assaulted by the spirit of this age and the devil's going to try his best to talk you out of taking the proper action that you need to take to stay with a prosperous supply.
-
God wants your supply not barely enough, but prosperous, amen.
-
So we had the law of serving.
-
You can't serve two masters.
-
You can't serve God and mammon, we found out.
-
Mammon is wealth personified.
-
It's like wealth as a God.
-
You can't serve wealth as a God.
-
You can't just line yourself up just to serve your wealth.
-
Think about the rich young ruler.
-
He was very wealthy.
-
He had lots of goods, he had lots of things.
-
Jesus told him.
-
He said Lord, I love you, I keep all the commandments.
-
What else can I do?
-
He says one thing you lack go and sell all your goods.
-
He had a lot of goods.
-
He had businesses.
-
He had air conditioning businesses, he had plumbing businesses, he had home building businesses.
-
I mean he had insurance agencies, he had legal law practices.
-
I mean he made money when he was asleep.
-
He didn't even have to go to the office all his.
-
I mean they're paying him night and day, day and night, but he's having to really kind of, you know, go after it and kind of pay a lot of attention to it.
-
And Jesus was issuing him an apostolic call.
-
He said go, sell everything you got, give alms to the poor.
-
He didn't say give everything away.
-
He said give alms, take part of what you see, turn all that into cash and help the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven.
-
And take up your cross and follow me.
-
In other words, you're going to have to make some sacrifices, you're going to have to rearrange your life, and Jesus called him to follow him.
-
In other words, he gave him an apostolic call and he went away, sorrowful because he had great riches.
-
No, he didn't have them, they had him.
-
The riches had him.
-
He went away.
-
He refused.
-
So, jesus, he's teaching them about the law of serving.
-
You can't serve God and mammon.
-
You have to go to God and seek God first and his righteousness.
-
Seek God first, seek the kingdom of God first.
-
Seek the kingdom of God and his way of doing things and all of these things that you need will be supplied to you See, the law of serving or the law of priority, that really is the same thing.
-
Law of priority, you put God first, you put him first.
-
Now, it doesn't mean you don't pay any attention to riches.
-
You don't pay any attention to your finance.
-
Of course you do.
-
You don't serve them, they serve you.
-
See, it turns around.
-
Your supply then becomes your servant rather than your God.
-
See, when your supply is your God, well then you're out of whack now, see, and you leave the supernatural for the natural.
-
I'm not saying you can't be rich in this world.
-
There's lots of rich people running around getting rich, but they're not doing it God's way and it's all a house of cards.
-
The Bible talks about that.
-
They're going to lose it.
-
What does it profit a man If he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?
-
It's pro, it's possible.
-
It's possible to get very rich, but do it outside of God.
-
Well, you don't have anything to show for it at the end.
-
We get very rich, but do it outside of God.
-
Well, you don't have anything to show for it at the end.
-
Are y'all with me now?
-
And, of course, the law of calling.
-
You know, take no anxious thoughts saying what are we eating, what are we going to drink, what are we going to put on?
-
Say your, your anxious thoughts can bring anxious words which can stop your supply.
-
So don't, don't be having anxious thought about tomorrow.
-
Don't be anxious about all this stuff that's going on.
-
Don't be anxious about it.
-
Pay attention, know it's here, but don't get all immersed in it and be worried about it.
-
Take no anxious thought saying so.
-
We have the law of calling.
-
Your supply has a name, it has ears and it will obey you.
-
You have more to do with your supply than God does.
-
Frankly, god's already poured it out, it's already there, it already exists.
-
And guess what?
-
We don't even have to look up.
-
It's not up there, it's right here.
-
Why?
-
Because that's where the Holy Ghost is.
-
God is right here.
-
We don't have to look way up there waiting for God to do something.
-
No, holy Ghost is right here, amen, all right.
-
So the law of calling.
-
We need to call our supply in.
-
If you've got a need call, then there's a supply for it.
-
Call it, tell it to come and dispatch the angels to cause it to come to you by the certain date that you need it.
-
Don't wait till the day before, don't wait till it's late.
-
As one that has gone through all of this, I've gone through late, I've gone through too late.
-
I've gone through.
-
You know, if there was anything to protect I could have.
-
I could have claimed bankruptcy about three different times.
-
I didn't have enough assets to even protect.
-
They were already gone.
-
I mean, you don't need listen.
-
If everything you've got is rented or leased, you don't need bankruptcy, are y'all?
-
Y'all are looking at me kind of crooked.
-
See, I've lived this.
-
It's not something that I'm not acquainted with, you know, like Bill Gates up here telling you this stuff.
-
No, I've lived it and I've learned a few things.
-
Thank God, I learned from some of my mistakes that I can help you.
-
So the law of calling the law of use, you know.
-
Parable of the talents, you know he gave the parable of the man going to go on a far country and he called his servants and gave unto them his goods.
-
See, everything we have, it comes from God.
-
It's not ours anyway.
-
All of it is his.
-
Everything we own is his.
-
It's not ours.
-
We're just stewards over it.
-
Once you find that out and figure that out, then it changes your perspective completely.
-
You're not laboring to be rich, you already are.
-
You're lining your life up with God's word.
-
Rich just means having abundant supply.
-
So you can be a blessing, blessed to be a blessing.
-
I've been where I didn't have two nickels to run together and it's hard to be a blessing other than just maybe go mow the grass for somebody or go put a coat of paint on something for somebody.
-
It's about all you got is your two hands and some labor.
-
Maybe you can pray for somebody, but you can't help them financially when you're broke.
-
And let me tell you something this, this land in time harvest, is going to take laborers like Paul.
-
It's going to take laborers that are going to have to have their needs met.
-
And who's going to meet them?
-
Well, you and I are going to meet those needs.
-
We're going to be so blessed that they won't even have to worry about money.
-
They'll just be able to obey God and obey the Holy Ghost and obey the call of God, and they go out there and reap the harvest of souls.
-
So the law of use.
-
And we talked about the woman who was a widow and her husband owed everybody under the sun and died, and they came to try to get her sons as collateral for the debt.
-
See, they're not even doing the word.
-
That was sinful for them to do that.
-
They should have been helping the widow.
-
They should not have been foreclosing on the widow and taking her sons from her.
-
But in the middle of that, god provided he says what do you got in the house?
-
Well, I don't know, I go.
-
Well, okay, yeah, I got a little jar of oil.
-
She didn't say it, but she might as well have said what's that?
-
So what?
-
I got a jar of oil.
-
That's not enough.
-
See, whatever you have, if all you've got is a jar of oil, I'm telling you it's enough for your miracle.
-
Whatever you have, if you've got I mean, I got down to $35 one time, to my name, and it was enough for my miracle.
-
One month later, I had $100,000 and a partner and we started a business.
-
And what did I do with that $35?
-
Well, 25 out of 35, I put it in an offering.
-
I obeyed the Holy Ghost.
-
See, I'm telling you the law of use.
-
If you'll use what little you've got, it's enough for your miracle.
-
You can parlay that into whatever you need.
-
And so we found that out with her.
-
She borrowed a bunch of jars and filled them up with that pot of oil, and she sold all the oil that she poured out of one pot.
-
She poured out, I told you, 666 pots.
-
I told you that it's not in the Bible, it's just the John Griner translation.
-
See, they weren't doing things God's way, that was the Antichrist way, that was the godless way, the way they were handling the money in those days.
-
Are y'all with me now?
-
666, antichrist, number of Antichrist.
-
He hadn't showed up yet, but he's on his way, all right.
-
So the law of use use it or lose it.
-
You know God rewards success and he wants us to use what we have for his glory.
-
Then last week, the laws of sowing and reaping.
-
All of the kingdom operates on the seed sowing principle Mark chapter 4, verses 26 through 29.
-
And we talked about Malachi, chapter 3.
Malachi 3 chapter mention
-
So today I want to get into Malachi 3 again.
-
These are laws by which God operates.
-
Tithing is a law and it goes all the way back to the garden.
-
It does not just originate in the, in the law of Moses.
-
A lot of people, a lot of Christians I've run across, don't believe in tithing, because that's where you know Christ is the end of the law.
-
For, for, for righteousness, I don't have to tithe.
-
Well, you don't tithe for righteousness.
-
You tithe to cooperate with God's spiritual laws concerning finances.
-
And you want to argue the point?
-
You go ahead and stay broke.
-
I'm going to make a case today that you'll forever be accountable for, and there's no going back After you hear this message today.
-
If you hear it with both ears of your spirit, there are no going back to arguing about it.
-
You can.
-
You just decided that you don't want to tithe.
-
People can't say I can't tithe.
-
They can't say that because the tithe is the first tenth.
-
We established that last week.
-
We've got scripture for it.
-
It's the first tenth, so it's off the top.
-
It's before the house payment.
-
It's before the insurance, it's before the mortgage.
-
It before the house payment, it's before the insurance, it's before the you know mortgage.
-
It's, you know it's before the car payment, it's before anything.
-
It's off the top.
-
And so, if you don't tithe, you chose not to.
-
You chose to assemble a lifestyle and wired your expenses in according to what you wanted to do.
-
You borrowed here, you borrowed there.
-
You've got this big nut to crack and you say I can't tithe because financially, when I do the math, it doesn't.
-
I can't take 10% out.
-
I can't do it, pastor, I can't do it.
-
Well, yo, you won't do it.
-
Why don't you get the?
-
Why don't you just admit that you've already sinned?
-
You've already wired him out.
-
You've blocked God out.
-
You violated the first law, the law of priority and the only way to get back on track is to make him priority again.
-
So if you're not tired, then make a quality decision today.
-
Okay, I'm going to start today.
-
Then, well, I don't know how that well, it's supernatural, because he said prove me.
-
All right, let's read this text.
-
Malachi was in that case and Malachi is talking to the priests.
-
They're the top of the spiritual food chain, if you will.
-
And they weren't tithing the tithe.
-
See, they lived off the tithe.
-
The tithe belonged to the priesthood so they could live, they could eat and have shelter and clothing, and that way they could dedicate all their life to the temple and all of the things it took to slay all those animals and have those sacrifices and all the work of the temple.
-
I mean, it's a lot of work.
-
There's a lot of Levites and they're depending on the tithe to live, and then they're supposed to tithe the tithe and they weren't doing it.
-
So the people weren't really tithing much because the priesthood wasn't tithing much and the whole nation of Israel had backslidden the way that modern church has right now.
-
So that's the context of this, verse 8, malachi 3, 8.
-
Will a man rob God?
-
Yet you have robbed me.
-
See, this is a prophet talking for God.
-
He's talking for God first person.
-
It's like God is talking to him and he is You've robbed me.
-
But you say where is it if we robbed you?
-
In tithes and offerings?
-
You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed me, even this whole nation.
-
So it wasn't just the priests, it was all the whole nation.
-
See, they had gotten away from God.
-
This nation has gotten away from God and the church has gotten away from God in a lot of ways.
-
How do we?
-
Well, we correct it by teaching, teaching this right here, and have people begin to see oh yeah, I'm off the base, I need to make a decision.
-
He said, verse 10, bring you all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house.
-
And prove me now, herewith, here with what?
-
Here with the tithe.
-
If I will not open up to you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing, there's not room enough to receive.
-
And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground, neither shall your vine cast her fruit before its time in the field.
-
Saith the Lord of hosts.
-
Who is the Lord of hosts, by the way, it's the Lord of the armies of heaven.
-
So angels have something to do with your tithe.
-
Angels have something to do with your supply, why you can't stick God in the eye and expect your angels to help you.
-
You can't steal out of God's top drawer of his bureau dresser there in his master bedroom.
-
You can't steal from him and be blessed You're cursed.
-
Well, that's Old Testament.
-
No, it's Bible.
-
And that's the tragedy of the New Testament.
-
Christian, because, yes, jesus was cursed so we could be blessed, but then we willingly walk in the curse Because when you're not tithing you're cursed.
-
I have to tell you.
-
And who's going to tell you if I don't tell you?
-
And so he said I'll rebuke the devourer for your sake, so forth.
-
And then he says verse 12, and all nations should call you blessed, for you should be able to light some land.
-
Saith the Lord of hosts.
-
So Oral Roberts 20 years ago this July it's coming.
-
July 20 years ago he was in his home in Newport Beach.
-
He had retired earlier, I don't know a year or two before and moved to Newport Beach, california, from Tulsa where he had run Oral Roberts.
-
He turned Oral Roberts University over to his son and kind of retired and was living out there and I heard in August of 04 that he had had a visitation of God and I saw an interview on Christian television.
-
Then I saw another interview and I just got just a smattering and the questions that the people were asking him were just.
-
I kept throwing things at my television.
-
I was so angry because they're preachers, you know, and they don't know how to listen.
-
All they know how to do is talk yak, and they did all the yak and then he didn't get an opportunity to let this visitation come out in its fullness.
-
I want listen, I, I I was on Christian television 16 years locally here, did, and I feel like I know a little bit about interviewing people.
-
I know how to ask questions and get them to get, give the truth out and and, and I've had a few visitations myself and I know a little bit about how easy it is to lose some of the small details.
-
Why, immediately, whenever God has given me spectacular guidance and some kind of a vision or dream, I go immediately, start recording it and writing it down instantly.
-
If it's the middle of the night, I get up, I turn the lights on in my study and I'm quick, I don't wait till the next day because I'm going to lose half of it.
-
And I knew that was what was going on here, but I was.
-
You know just, I was unsatisfied with the interviews, and so I essentially I'll just tell you the first part of the wake-up call.
-
He saw a cloud over New York City, almost touching the ground, but not quite, and it reminded him of Acts, chapter 2, blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
Acts 2 chapter mention
-
And he heard this loud noise, so loud that it blew his sweater open.
-
And he heard this loud noise so loud that it blew his sweater open.
-
I mean, he felt the power of the sound in his townhome.
-
Later on, when I went to interview him, he showed me exactly where it happened.
-
He had the sweater on that he was wearing and it blew open like that.
-
And God said my people are not ready for the coming of my son, america is not ready for the coming of my son, america is not ready for the coming of my son, the world is not ready for the coming of my son, my people, the Jews, are not ready for the coming of my son.
-
And so that was the import.
-
And then he saw the clouds spread across the Eastern seaboard, go across the nation and then around the world.
-
And uh and so I was very interested because he's uh, he had another visitation.
-
He said God, god told him.
-
He says there's a wasting of power in my church.
-
There's a wasting of power.
-
It was a corrective word.
-
I have been listening and following Oral Roberts even before I got saved.
-
In fact, I watched him on Johnny Carson in the 70s.
-
This is a man in the 70s whose name was the fourth or the third most known name on the planet.
-
It doesn't mean a lot to us today because we're so far removed from where he was and where he'd been doing.
-
A lot of things have happened since then, but there was a time when he was well-known and you know, quite well-known, and uh and so I had never heard him do anything except be positive.
-
He brought a positive message God is going to do something good for you today.
-
See, that was his message, and he got criticized for that.
-
You know, uh Roberts, when you preach about God, I don't like it.
-
It's going to give people the wrong impression of God.
-
See, they wanted that hellfire and brimstone side of God.
-
They wanted the judgment side of God.
-
They wanted the mad side of God and Oral Roberts in his day, brought the positive.
-
He brought the love side of God.
-
And yet this message was a corrective message and I related to it because God had told me in 1999 to wake up the church.
-
A corrective message and I hadn't had anybody listen.
-
So I was excited to go and I went.
-
I took 12 of us, my whole family and some others, went out to Newport beach.
-
God blinded up for me to be able to sit down with Oral Roberts in his home.
-
We had a two camera shoot.
-
I've got the DVD out there.
-
You'd like to see it If you still got a DVD player.
-
Many people don't, but it's as true right now as it was then.
-
And so I prepared, I went away and I fasted and prayed and I got a list of questions that I wanted to ask him and I asked him all about the first part of that and then I then the last question I saved for the last, and by this time I'd been interviewing for an hour.
-
I could tell he was getting weary because he's in his 80s upper 80s I think at the time and I said, brother Robert I didn't call him brother, dr Roberts, I said since you see a mighty outpouring and influx of souls into the kingdom of God in the last days.
-
You see a mighty see.
-
He sees a mighty revival See.
-
That's the other positive part of it.
-
He doesn't see a remnant.
-
You got remnant preachers.
-
Where would you get the remnant?
-
We just barely got a few people going to go to heaven.
-
That's baloney.
-
We're going to go to heaven?
-
That's baloney.
-
We're going to have a billion people go to heaven.
-
God is the greatest farmer that ever lived.
-
Quit looking at things like the way they are right now.
-
Things are going to radically change quickly.
-
So anyway, I said since you see such a mighty influx of souls into the kingdom of God, do you?
-
Therefore, see, I have one more question.
-
That's what I see.
-
Therefore, see, I have one more question.
-
That's what I said.
-
I said I have one more question for you.
-
He said make it your last, I'm tired.
-
And I thought, oh God.
-
So we edited that part out of the and I thought I've gone too far, I've pulled too much on him, I pulled on him so hard and he's just exhausted.
-
But I got to ask this.
-
So I asked this last question.
-
I said since you see a mighty influx of souls into the kingdom, do you also see a corresponding transfer of wealth out of the hands of the wicked into the hands of the church to reap this mighty harvest?
-
And he looked at me and he said John rose that finger.
-
Life came back into him.
-
He got filled with the anointing.
-
He said John, I'm glad you asked that question and I thought I'm glad I asked it too.
-
Just saved my bacon.
-
Holy Ghost, saved my bacon yet again.
-
I wore out my welcome just five seconds ago, but now I'm back on.
-
I'm back on now.
-
So he went off.
-
He started saying now, john, he said God told me that, uh, my people are cheating themselves.
-
They're not tithing, they're living, they're not giving.
-
You know you can't give unless you tithe.
-
I'm surprised that people don't know the difference.
-
But you don't give a tithe, you pay a tithe because a tithe is the Lord's, it belongs to him.
-
It's got his name on it and you've got your name on it.
-
You need to get it out of your name into his name.
-
So you've got to get rid of the first tenth.
-
It's in your possession and it shouldn't be there.
-
It ought to be out of your possession, in his possession as soon as you get it.
-
The first 10th of your increase is God's.
-
It's not yours.
-
So you don't give it, you pay it.
-
You know, you pay it, you know.
-
Let's just say you've got a mortgage payment.
-
Let's just say it's $1,500 a month.
-
You write the check.
-
You're still writing checks.
-
You write the check to the mortgage company.
-
Did you give the mortgage company $1,500 or did you pay them?
-
You're paying it.
-
You don't get.
-
You didn't give them anything.
-
They gave you a loan and you're paying it back.
-
So you're paying God the tithe.
-
That's the first 10th and until you do that, nothing else is is eligible to be given.
-
If you write a $10 check to the church and call it an offering and didn't tithe that it's not giving you don't get to reassign that you didn't.
-
You didn't obey God, you didn't do things his way.
-
You don't have any right to get a multiplication of that.
-
Oh, you're looking at me, man.
-
Well, just make the adjustment.
-
You can't do anything about what you've done, but from this day forward you can do something about it.
-
Now Don't try to make amends, don't try to go back.
-
No, just it's under the blood.
-
I mean you've got to repent.
-
Listen, I want to get you in position.
-
We're in the year of momentum.
-
There is a mighty momentum.
-
There's 30 years of momentum this church has gotten.
-
We are riding a wave of glory that's going to culminate in the greatest revival this world has ever seen.
-
I want to get you in position to reap the harvest of money that it's going to take to get it done.
-
My greatest fear is for God to just put pause on the whole thing and say well, this generation didn't do it, I'm going to wait.
-
You want to know what I'm afraid of?
-
I'm afraid of that.
-
I'm afraid we fouled up and didn't do it.
-
Just what?
-
Israel?
-
The first generation of Israel?
-
They died in the wilderness, not ever having gone into the promised land.
-
Wouldn't it be terrible if we just you know God had to just wait for our kids to do it?
-
No, I want to do it.
-
Are y'all with me now?
-
He said my people are cheating themselves.
-
They're not tithing, they're in debt.
-
This is 20 years ago, living paycheck to paycheck, and it hinders the work of the kingdom.
-
They're not able to give like they should.
-
He said tell them to tithe.
-
God told Brother Roberts, tell them to tithe and I'll open up the windows of heaven and pour them out a blessing there's not room enough to receive.
-
Tell them to tithe.
-
This is Oral Roberts' corrective word.
-
It says the same thing here, but he said it to Oral Roberts.
-
Tell them to tithe and I'll open up the windows of heaven and pour them out a blessing there's not room enough to receive.
-
And Brother Roberts says to me in the interview now wait just a minute, lord Got a lot of guts, got a lot of guts.
-
I've been tithing nine to 50 years and I have never had so much that I couldn't hold more.
-
I've just I mean he, you know, I've just never been in that condition.
-
He said I'm not talking about money, I'm talking about ideas, concepts and insights.
-
I will give you ideas, so many that you can't hold them.
-
He said, john, you get an idea from God and he shines light on something, and then you study that and then it turns into a, a concept, and you keep working with it and working with it, and finally it becomes an insight, and that way God is able to show you how to maneuver in this world and retrieve and receive everything that it has for you.
-
And then he said after that he said I'll protect your assets.
-
I'll give you so many ideas about how to manage your money, how to receive more, how to maneuver, and not just money, but everything, everything.
-
Listen, tithing affects everything.
-
It doesn't affect just your money, it affects your life, your health.
-
Some of you are kind of blanked out.
-
Well, you can't buy a health?
-
Yeah, well, you sure can.
-
Have you ever tried to buy a health?
-
Because you can't buy it.
-
But you can sow your seed correctly and you can reap the benefit of what Jesus bought and paid for.
-
See, so he said I'll give you ideas, concepts and insights.
-
I'll rebuke the vile.
-
In other words, I'll protect your assets.
-
Is your life an asset, man?
-
Your life's all you got.
-
And then the last one is I'll give you favor.
-
All lands will call you blessed.
-
They weren't blessing Israel back then.
-
They hated Israel.
-
They have invaded Israel.
-
They still hate them.
-
The same people back then that hate them hate them today.
-
But he'll give you favor.
-
See the three one think.
-
Let me ask you something.
-
It's only right that we give God back what belongs to him.
-
And yet he's such a giving, loving God that he gives us benefits associated with, just plainly, being obedient.
-
On our side, we're just doing what we're supposed to do.
-
We don't really.
-
We don't get to pat ourselves on the back and say, boy, I'm a tither, glory to God.
-
No, we don't get to do that.
-
We're just thoroughly unprofitable servants doing what it is our duty to do.
-
That's what Jesus told.
-
The right attitude is that.
-
You know, let's just let's be humble about it.
-
Let's not be patting ourselves on the back that we, you know, blah, blah, what I've done for the Lord.
-
Boy, I tell you I must really be a threat to the devil.
-
He, he's really attacked me.
-
Quit, quit, putting yourself in such a glorious position.
-
The devil attacks everybody.
-
And don't be so critical about other people.
-
Why don't you just let's be?
-
He's talking about our attitude, see.
-
So these benefits, I mean God just loves you and he gives you these benefits.
-
So I knew when he was saying that I mean my.
-
And then later we got to, he invited us to pray for him.
-
He said my shoulder is just really hurting, laying hands on millions of people.
-
You know, all those years his shoulder was wore out, just laying that hand on people, laying that hand on people.
-
And, uh, amazing, I mean he laid hands on my whole my family, me, my family, gladys and my whole family.
-
And I wouldn't dress like this.
-
Then I mean Gladys, have you ever heard of Gladys and my whole family?
-
And I wouldn't dress like this?
-
Then I mean, gladys, have you ever heard of Gladys and the Pips?
-
She called me.
-
I'm one of the Pips.
-
I got purple on.
-
She said it looked like an Easter egg.
-
I said, well, I'll take that as a compliment.
-
I wouldn't dress like this when I sent Oral Roberts, but anyway, he honored us and he laid hands on us and everything.
-
And then he asked us to pray for him.
-
And we all prayed for Oral Roberts, we prayed for Evelyn.
-
His wife, gladys, laid her hands on Evelyn and Evelyn, the power of God hit her.
-
She started crying and laughing at the same time.
-
She lifted her hands.
-
I mean she.
-
I mean three months later she was in heaven.
-
I mean privilege.
-
These people have impacted this world like few have done and they had that humility and love and acceptance.
-
But riding back to the hotel after all of that, I mean it was just my head spinning and I'm looking out the window at the Southern California, looking at the sailboats out in the harbors, newport Beach, you know pretty nice town and headed back to the hotel, I'm in the back seat.
-
I'm looking out the window.
-
I said God, I don't doubt anything.
-
He said I like what he said, but I can't preach it until I get a revelation.
-
I don't understand where that is.
-
I mean, I don't see.
-
I see windows of heaven pour out a blessing.
-
I see the word blessing.
-
I don't see ideas, concepts and insights there, and blessing.
-
I don't understand.
-
I don't understand how he got what he told me and so I'm going to have to have a revelation that he's got.
-
You're going to have to show me how you showed him, more than just him saying it.
-
I've got to preach this.
-
He said John, preach this.
-
For a while he charged me.
-
He grabbed me by my lapels and charged me.
-
He said John, preach this, keep preaching it.
-
It's the guts of the gospel, it's the center cut.
-
Without a revelation of this, the gospel can't go forth.
-
You can't preach outside the city limits.
-
In fact, you'd have a hard time getting to the city limits.
-
No, you've got to have money, and God doesn't have the money.
-
It's here and we need ideas on how to get it where it is.
-
Are y'all with me now?
-
So I said I agree with it, but I don't have a revelation Down in my spirit riding down that street on the way to the hotel.
-
Instantly I heard this words how about Jacob?
-
And I just started grinning ear to ear because I knew I mean an instant of time.
-
I knew what God was saying because I knew the story of Jacob.
-
I'd read it many times but I didn't recognize this pattern.
-
Everybody say ideas, concepts and insights.
-
So just briefly, you can read it for yourself there in Genesis.
-
That's your homework.
-
I'm not going to go through all the verses.
-
Chapter 28, he's running from Esau.
-
You know he, him and his mother, devised this plan to steal the birthright and the blessing.
-
Two things from that belonged to Esau as the firstborn.
-
But you know they were twins.
-
They didn't look anything alike but as twins.
-
When they came out of the womb Jacob's hand was around Esau's heel, he had a hold of him.
-
He tripped him up.
-
From then on he kept tripping him up and Esau was not the brightest light on the tree.
-
And I do believe it was God's plan for Jacob to have what he had, but it wasn't the proper way for him to have it.
-
No, you can be right and wrong at the same time.
-
You can have the right plan, the right call but the wrong plan.
-
And so they.
-
They.
-
His name means supplanter, jacob means supplanter, jacob means supplanter.
-
Him and his mother, they were just man, that was kind of well.
-
Mother wasn't involved the first time when he cooked the soup for him and made him give his birthright, but she was involved, very heavily involved, when he got the blessing.
-
And so then Esau got mad, threatened to kill him.
-
And so then Esau got mad, threatened to kill him, and so he left town and his mother said go to my brother Laban's house in Syria.
-
So go all the way back to Isaac.
-
See, abraham had sent a servant to go get Isaac his seed of promise, a wife, out of those people.
-
He didn't want him marrying the Canaanites.
-
Those people were Syrians, they're not Jewish.
-
And so the servant comes across Rebecca, and she winds up being the girl that he gets for Isaac and brings her back to town.
-
And as soon as Isaac saw Rebecca, man, I mean it was love at first sight.
-
And so then they have Esau and Jacob.
-
So now, here you go again, see there's a seed.
-
And so then you've got Jacob is leaving, fleeing for his life.
-
He has this visitation, he in the nighttime.
-
You know angels of God ascending and descending, and surely this is the house of the Lord.
-
I'm on holy ground.
-
And, lord, I tell you what, if you'll bring me back safe and sound and you'll protect me while I'm over here and give me favor, surely the 10th I will give unto thee.
-
In other words, he committed to being a tither right there, before he ever got to Laban's house.
-
He committed to tithing.
-
See, he is a tither.
-
Are you a tither?
-
It's not about whether you tithe or not.
-
Maybe you don't have anything.
-
I've been in places where I didn't have a tithe, but I'm a tither.
-
You're a tither.
-
That's who you are.
-
That describes you.
-
And a tither does what Tithes.
-
But don't get it out of order.
-
Just because you tithe, you might not be a tither, because you might just tithe when it's good time and you might just quit doing it when it's bad time.
-
But if you're doing that and you're inconsistent, you need to repent.
-
You always.
-
Once you're a tither, you're always a tither.
-
You don't stop.
-
Why?
-
Because you're putting God first.
-
Is he not deserving of first?
-
Think about what you say when you don't tithe.
-
Well, god, I've got better plans for this money.
-
I've already spent this money, actually, lord, I've got to pay it back.
-
I can't give you anything.
-
You know I can't afford it.
-
No, you just willfully decided to do your own thing.
-
See, I mean, you know Jesus said it this way.
-
Why call you me Lord, lord and do not the things that I say.
-
He gets back to who is Lord?
-
Is he Lord or not?
-
Well, you're acting like I can't.
-
If I'm not a tither, I'm lost.
-
I didn't say that.
-
I didn't say you're going to hell.
-
I'm saying you're not doing what you should do.
-
You're sinning.
-
It's a sin.
-
I don't hear many people say it that way.
-
I think people just soft pedal when it comes to money.
-
They're afraid of offending people and people might leave.
-
Well, I don't care.
-
I didn't ask you to come.
-
I'm here to do what I have to do.
-
I fear him.
-
I care what he says.
-
I'm going to give you the guts of the gospel.
-
It's up to you to receive it or not.
-
It's good news, it's not bad news, it's really good news.
-
So he's on the way and, of course, he gets to town.
-
Laban received him, you know, said oh, stay here, keep my sheep.
-
What will be your wages?
-
You know?
-
What do you want me to give you for keeping my sheep.
-
He said I don't want anything, but I'll tell you what.
-
I'll serve you seven years for this little chick right over here.
-
Man, see, he fell in love too.
-
His daddy fell in love at first sight.
-
Now he's falling in love for Rachel.
-
Man, rachel, woo, rachel.
-
I'll work seven years for that girl.
-
I don't think he heard from God on that.
-
There's no record that he prayed.
-
I think he entered into a silly binding of himself.
-
Really, I think if he had just proved himself out with Laban, he could have had part of the family business and started sharecropping, so to speak, and started getting a share of the increase if he had played his cards right.
-
But he just blundered and he said I'll serve you for seven years for Rachel.
-
And it just seemed like when you read your Bible it just seemed like nothing.
-
It was.
-
Seven years went by and it was just like because he kept thinking of Rachel, rachel, years for Rachel.
-
And it just seemed like when you read your Bible it just seemed like nothing.
-
It was.
-
Seven years went by and it was just like cause I, he kept thinking of Rachel, rachel, rachel, rachel's coming my way, rachel's going to be my wife, rachel's coming in to me.
-
We're going to have a house together, rachel.
-
And so the seven years were up and Laban is blessed.
-
Man Laban is increased and he he proof of the pudding is in the eating.
-
God blessed his tither, but the blessing wasn't for him.
-
The blessing wound up because he gave it all away to Laban.
-
That's kind of stupid.
-
With a capital S Doesn't say that in your Bible.
-
Well, read between the lines.
-
I always read between the lines.
-
I see what could have happened, because I've made some of those similar mistakes.
-
It was good to be a tither, but then he didn't go to God for the idea.
-
All right.
-
So then you know the story.
-
Laban substitutes Leah on the wedding night he wakes up with Leah.
-
Now, leah is a sturdy girl.
-
She's not beautiful, but she's sturdy.
-
She's a baby factory.
-
She can pull the potatoes, she can pull a wagon by herself.
-
She doesn't need a mule.
-
He's highly disappointing when he wakes up with Leah.
-
See, and if your name is Leah, I'm not talking about you, where do you get all this?
-
I read between the lines.
-
So, anyway, he's disappointed.
-
He said I can't dishonor my oldest daughter.
-
She can't go second and it's just not what we do over here in this country we honor the firstborn, she's oldest sister.
-
She gets married first.
-
She can't.
-
All right, I'll serve another seven years for Rachel.
-
So he didn't have to wait seven more years.
-
Rachel came.
-
So now he's a glutton for punishment.
-
He's got two wives and then each of them have a handmaiden.
-
So he's got babies by the handmaidens.
-
Oh my Lord, just 14 years goes by and he's still broke.
-
He's still serving for these women, see.
-
And he's made Laban filthy rich.
-
Why?
-
Because the tithe.
-
He hasn't even had a tithe.
-
Are y'all getting this now?
-
He has not had a tithe, just a commitment, right?
-
So you know, he wakes up one day with all these kids 12 kids, you know, 12 boys and a dine of the daughter and everything.
-
And he goes to Laban and said look, laban, I'm working here for you.
-
I got to get out of here, man.
-
When am I going to have my own house?
-
Oh, don't leave.
-
Don't leave, Just stay right here.
-
I've learned by experience that I'm blessed because of you.
-
You know what?
-
Talk about a scoundrel.
-
You want to see a scoundrel.
-
Laban is a scoundrel because he could have paid him.
-
He could have given him part of the family business that's his daughters, by the way.
-
I mean, what's the big deal?
-
They have an inheritance that they're due.
-
Why don't you give the man his due?
-
No, you just sat there and just whittled him and took advantage of his stupidity, his lack of business sense.
-
See, he was too much in love, love.
-
And so now he wakes up 14 years later, broke and got all these kids and he's ready to have his own deal.
-
Don't say it, stay around here.
-
What do you want?
-
What do you want?
-
What will be your hire?
-
Now you have to read the next chapter to find out that this came out of a dream.
-
In a dream showed him the speckled and the ring-straight cattle producing at the watering trough.
-
He saw them vigorous and multiplying.
-
He said well, you're not going to pay me anything, you're not going to give me anything.
-
Just do this for me and I'll serve you.
-
I want to go through the flock and I want to pull out all the brownckled and ring straight cattle and that'll be my wages and I'll leave all the pretty ones for you and I'll watch.
-
I'll watch my flock and I'll still watch your flock.
-
And he said okay, have it your way, that's, that'll be fine with me.
-
So see now, instead of just losing momentum.
-
What would have happened?
-
See, that was an idea, because God didn't want him to lose momentum.
-
He's got a part of that flock that he was in charge of and, for whatever reason, they just looked down on, speckled and spotted and ring straight cattle and brown cattle I mean.
-
They looked down on them.
-
They thought they were inferior and God doesn't call them inferior, they're just a different color.
-
They got the same kind of wool, they got the same kind of meat, they got the same kind of milk.
-
That's kind of stupid.
-
And God knew that they could be multiplied.
-
He just gave him a strategy to recover the loss of 14 years.
-
Are y'all with me now?
-
So he didn't have to.
-
If he'd had it his way originally, if he'd have just left, where's he going to get any cattle to raise and multiply?
-
See, now he's got a built-in flock, he's got momentum.
-
God preserved his momentum and was able to give him back some of his labor and Laban said okay, so he does, he gets out there and he works, and he works another six years and in the process of time, you know, he in the dream he saw these cattle would, at mating season, would mate, and they would conceive at the watering trough and they were just vigorous, and so he got the idea.
-
Then he had the idea of those cattle.
-
Then the next was a concept whittle some sticks and make them look ring-straight and streaky and plant the sticks in front of the watering trough and when, at mating season, when they come up to get water, and it's mating season, they look at that stick in the ground and then they produce.
-
They don't produce white cattle, they produce ring-straked, brown and speckled.
-
And his cattle.
-
And over here in Laban's he doesn't do anything, he just lets that go in natural progression.
-
So it's doing okay, but he is accelerating.
-
See, idea, concept.
-
He had to get a concept.
-
He whittled sticks Whoever heard of that but those cattle looked at that and they just wanted to reproduce what they saw.
-
God is amazing.
-
God knows everything, god knows animals, he knows what they look at, he knows how they work.
-
And then the insight came when he realized that some of these cattle are stronger than others, and so he would hold back the weaker ones of his flock and only let the strong, vigorous, bigger, ring-striped, spotted and speckled cattle do the reproducing.
-
They would be the fathers of the or the mothers of the herd.
-
And so then, over six years of time everybody say six years.
-
See, he'd been working 14 years and got nothing made the other guy rich.
-
Now, six years, he becomes rich.
-
And those cattle were all more numerous, they were stronger Are you with me?
-
And Laban's were weaker and less in numbers, and he didn't do anything to them, he just left them alone.
-
Left them alone, he didn't mess with them.
-
And so God spoke to him, says okay, now, son, I've released you, go back, go back to home.
-
It's time for you to leave.
-
Because he had been noticing that all of Laban's favor was leaking away.
-
He was getting jealous of Jacob's success.
-
He was mad that his was getting lower and smaller.
-
And his boys, his sons, were mad.
-
They were all there.
-
He lost favor, his favor began to dry up and God spoke to him.
-
He says okay, get away from there and go back to where you came from, go back home.
-
God spoke to him and says okay, get away from there and go back to where you came from, go back home.
-
God spoke to him All right.
-
So they had a confrontation out there and finally they had to cut the covenant together.
-
See, laban wasn't happy that they were leaving, but they left on covenant terms.
-
They had a covenant and Laban let them go and he stood and he's going back to see Esau and Esau, he's afraid of Esau.
-
It's been 20 years, folks, since he's seen his brother and last time he saw his brother, his brother's trying to kill him and his brother is a big, the head of the Edomites.
-
He's got a big family, he's good, he's a strong, rich guy too.
-
And, uh, he's afraid of his brother.
-
So he stands there and he said God, and so it sends them, puts them in two, two places Leah's got a group and Rachel's has got a group, and all the men's servants and the maid servants and all the donkeys and the camels and the cattle.
-
I mean, he is a rich man.
-
He said God, I came at this brook, the same brook where he committed to be a tither.
-
He said I came to this brook with nothing but a staff in my hand and, look, behold, now I have become two bands.
-
Glory to God.
-
And so do you know the story?
-
He goes back to Esau and he's giving him gifts.
-
They've got a bunch of camels and he's got a bunch of cattle and he's got a bunch of donkeys.
-
And Esau says what's all this.
-
I don't need that, brother, I'm fine.
-
And they hugged, they embraced and they had peace.
-
God gave him favor, dried up the favor over there, and God gave him favor back to go back where he came from, in the land of promise Abraham Isaac and Jacob.
-
The land of promise, the land that is in dispute today.
-
That's where he was.
-
He came from Syria all the way back, and so what you see here is you see that God protected his assets all of his 14 years of labor.
-
God protected it and gave some of it back to him to get started on his own.
-
He multiplied it.
-
He gave him ideas, concepts and insights.
-
He gave him favor, not 360 degrees.
-
He gave him favor in a direction that was commensurate with his purpose.
-
He wasn't created to live in Syria.
-
He's supposed to be in the land of Promp.
-
Are y'all getting this?
-
Now, see, this is all a benefit of tithing.
-
You're not gonna wind up where you need to be.
-
You're not gonna have the favor that you need to have if you don't tithe.
-
Why?
-
Because God is mad at you.
-
No, because you have rejected his word and he can't go against his word.
-
He can never bless what's not his word.
-
Are y'all?
-
Are y'all getting this now?
-
All right, so a personal testimony.
-
I had been out of the building business for a number of years and I didn't think I'd ever build houses again after the failure that I went through in the middle 80s.
-
But over the process of time I felt better and better about it and I mentioned here a minute ago that I had down to $35 and sowed a seed and God, a month later, gave me a partner with money, a money partner, and we went back in the building business.
-
We formed a building business and it was in my heart to start building in West University place, which was close into downtown.
-
It's isolated from all the vicissitudes of the economy out here in the suburbs.
-
They lay people that live out here.
-
A lot of them work for these big companies that get laid off, and in West U and in that area you've got a lot of these executives.
-
They're high up executives, you know.
-
So they're kind of they kind of ride through all of that.
-
They're doctors or lawyers or executives.
-
And it's a little self-enclosed town along with South Side Place.
-
It's got its own mayor, its own police force, right surrounded by the city of Houston, and it's little old two-bedroom, one-bath houses mostly.
-
Some are nicer.
-
Some of the original houses they built in there close to Kirby Drive are nicer, but the rest of it is all just 50 by 100 foot lots.
-
And I read an article in the Chronicle about the builders were going in there buying old houses, knocking them down and building new houses.
-
So before I got laid off from the job I was on, I had gone to investigate that and then all that fell apart and I just kept feeling feeling an attraction to that area.
-
So I was talking to my partner.
-
I said look, I don't want to build in the suburbs, I want to.
-
I want us, I want us to look at this West university and see what we can do and build some houses in here, because these are rich people and they've got a lot of money and they're less vulnerable to the economy.
-
So we did some market research, rove through the subdivision and I saw one builder had at least 20, 25 houses under construction.
-
Most of them were specs and it was only a couple of soul signs.
-
They were spec houses.
-
25 houses under construction, most of them are specs.
-
It was only a couple of soul signs, they were spec houses and they were a two-story red brick cubes, real ugly.
-
I mean they were ugly and they had a driveway that there's no way you can drive a Suburban down that driveway.
-
It's so narrow.
-
And then the garage is.
-
It's a 50 by 100 foot lot and he filled the whole lot up with a house and it just barely had a little driveway.
-
You need to go buy you a Honda Civic or something to drive down that thing.
-
And that's back when Civics were a lot smaller then than they are now.
-
And so you can't drive a Suburban down that driveway and it's hidden.
-
The garage is hidden behind the house.
-
You can't even get into the garage and you go in the house.
-
You can't even get into the garage and you go in the house.
-
We went through the couple of houses that just cheap and ugly and I just I said I can't build something like that.
-
I got to believe in what I build.
-
I like to.
-
I have to like what I build.
-
I can't do this.
-
We were searching for a USP, a unique selling proposition, if I'm going to go and build in there and expect basis.
-
I got to compete with this guy.
-
I got to build something that will sell instead of his.
-
So I interviewed a, I went and talked to a plan designer and my plan designer that I had used before when I was building out here in the suburbs, and he was a good guy.
-
I mean he had some really nice designs and good looking fronts.
-
And you know, architects tend to not hit the mark for me.
-
We use what we call plan designers.
-
They're not architects, but they keep up with what's selling and they keep up with the market better than architects.
-
Architects just they'll anyway so and they're a lot more expensive.
-
So anyway, I sat down with him it's good to see you again, john.
-
I told him what we were doing oh yeah, I've been through there, I've looked around.
-
He said yeah.
-
He said you know, I had 50 by 100.
-
That's just, that's a tough.
-
They are some oversized lots in there.
-
Let me, let me give you an idea of what we can do with an oversized lot.
-
And he sat down, he just started sketching a floor plan.
-
He said you know, if you get an oversized lot, let's just say you can get a 60 foot lot.
-
Let's just say 60 foot by a hundred instead of 50.
-
And he said so let me show you what we can do.
-
Man, he just drew up this plan and it had a portico shade down the side of the house, where you drive on the porch, where you get out of your car under a canopy.
-
That's upstairs.
-
You pull the upstairs out over the driveway and add footage upstairs and you said you put about 1400 square foot downstairs, about 1700, 1800 square foot upstairs, and you said you put about 1,400 square foot downstairs, about 1,700, 1,800 square foot upstairs, and you can do great things.
-
Now a driving rainstorm, you know the woman of the house can drive her Suburban in this driveway, get out of the car with all her groceries, go in a side door into the kitchen and never get wet.
-
I mean, you don't even have to go in the drive.
-
This really functions like a garage really, and if you want to use the garage, the garage is easy to get into, as opposed to some of those houses I looked at.
-
So we went, interviewed a realtor and we bought us.
-
We bought a 60 foot lot.
-
See, idea, you need everybody say usp, unique selling proposition.
-
Let's, let's get that picture up, lee.
-
This is the first house I ever built in West University Place.
-
There you go, that's number one.
-
It's the very first house.
-
So that's not a flat front Georgian, with black shutters and red brick.
-
It's English, it's a European design.
-
Look at the windows and all of that and you see the windows on either side of the front door porch.
-
See that cross on either side right there.
-
And see, go up above the front door arch and go up in that gable.
-
See that little plus sign.
-
See that's another cross.
-
And so that was my concept and I built four houses with crosses on them, different versions of this plan, and so it's got some red brick in but it's speckled and spotted and ring-straked.
-
So that house was built on University Boulevard, which is a very good address, but it was way down in the 4200 block of West U, which the next block over is Academy Street, and behind Academy Street and the houses facing there there's a north-south railroad track, so it's in the last block before you get to the railroad.
-
So it was not.
-
Nobody was building specs in that block until we bought the 60 by 100 foot lot and that house sold for a record amount per square foot.
-
It sold for $369,000.
-
And it sold right as it was finished.
-
I had almost no interest on it and we made a good profit on it.
-
Come on, lift your hands and receive Glory to God Because I'm a tither, I have ideas and concepts and insights and God gave me favor.
-
I had favor with a plan designer.
-
I had favor with a realtor.
-
I had favor with a home buyer.
-
I had favor in a direction.
-
I had a favor to go into an area and I was able to go.
-
I had no momentum folks, I had zero momentum.
-
But God gave me momentum and out of that house I built four more pretty close to that, different touches, because the lots were different sizes.
-
The biggest house like this I built was on a 65 by 100 foot lot and I sold it for $550,000.
-
And I looked them up and this one here is worth $1.4 million.
-
The one I built on the 65 foot lot is worth $1.9 million.
-
Woo, glory to God, amen.
-
So I want to say, if you'll honor God first with your tithe, then give offerings over and above the tithe.
-
The tithe proves that God is first, that you honor Him with the firstfruits of all your increase, so shall your barns be filled with plenty and your presses will burst out with new wine.
-
See, that's tithing.
-
And then giving proves your love.
-
Paul said bring the proof of your love and the offering that you give, and when you do that, when you obey God's laws of the kingdom, you can expect a mighty supply.
-
Come on, lift your hands and receive.
-
Hallelujah.
-
Glory to God.
-
Hallelujah, come on, let's rejoice today.
-
Hallelujah, did you get anything out of this today?
-
Did you enjoy seeing my handiwork, the very first house that I built?
