and wave them around and lift them up and make Jesus glad and the devil mad.
-
And let's say this together say Heavenly Father, I give thanks for Wednesday night.
-
I look forward to what the Holy Spirit has for me.
-
I'm pressing into the Word of God more and more.
-
I put it first place in my life and I thank you.
-
By the Word of God and by the Holy Ghost, I'm growing, I'm prevailing and bringing forth fruit.
-
In Jesus' name, amen.
-
Let's look at Acts, chapter three tonight, please.
-
Acts, the third chapter.
-
We'll start reading with verse one.
-
Now, peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour, that's three o'clock in the afternoon, and a certain lame man from his mother's, a certain man, lame from his mother's womb, was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple, which is called beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked an alms and Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said look on us.
-
And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
-
Then Peter said silver and gold have I none, but such as I have, give I thee, in the name of Jesus Christ, of Nazareth, rise up and walk.
-
And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength and he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered with them into the temple, walking and leaping and praising God.
-
And all the people saw him walking and praising God and they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the beautiful gate of the temple and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.
-
And as the lame man which was healed held, peter and John and all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.
-
And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people Abraham of Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his son, jesus, whom you delivered up and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.
-
But you denied the Holy One and the just and desired a murderer to be granted unto you and killed the Prince of life whom God hath raised from the dead, whereof we are witnesses, from the dead, whereof we are witnesses, and his name, through faith in his name, hath made this man strong, whom you see and know.
-
Yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all, and so I wanted to just encourage you with a message entitled Faith in the Name of Jesus.
-
I tell you the first notable miracle in the church is recorded right here, that we just read Notable miracles In the next chapter.
-
The temple rulers were discussing this problem.
-
They had a big problem.
-
Religious people always have a problem when God does miracles.
-
And they said there in Acts, chapter 4, verse 16, what shall we do to these men, for that?
-
Indeed, a notable miracle hath been done by them, is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.
-
So that's the definition of a notable miracle.
-
It's widely known and undeniable.
-
You know, there's some miracles and then there's notable miracles.
-
We've had our share of notable miracles right here, at Glorious Way.
-
And so how?
-
How did this happen?
-
Well, through the name of Jesus and faith in that name.
-
And see, the name of Jesus is what the temple rooters were trying to stop.
-
They were trying to forbid them to teach and preach in this name.
-
They just did not want his name.
-
You know, religion has no answer for the power that is in the name of Jesus.
-
Demons have no answer for the power that's in the name of Jesus.
-
Sickness and disease has no power that is in the name of Jesus.
-
Lack and poverty have no answer for the power that is in the name of Jesus.
-
So you know we could ask this question when did Jesus receive that name?
-
When and we know that in Matthew 28, 18, you know, right before he was lifted off of the earth, he said all power.
-
That word power there means authority.
-
Exousia Greek word means authority.
-
All authority in heaven and earth is given unto me.
-
Go ye, therefore, and make disciples of all nations.
-
So he delegated his authority to the church and he had all that authority there and he had defeated Satan.
-
We know that.
-
And in John 20, verse 17,.
-
You know he told Mary to touch me not, for I 've not yet ascended to my God and your God and my father and your father.
-
So he had to go into heaven right after the resurrection and take his blood and deposit it in the mercy seat.
-
And so in Mark, chapter 16, you know he said you know, go into all the world, preach the gospel to every creature.
Mark 16 chapter mention
-
And he said these signs shall follow them that believe in my name.
-
They shall.
-
And then he began to tell them what was going to happen if they use the name, the name that he had.
-
There was authority in that name.
-
They had authority to go.
-
They had authority to use that name to do what?
-
To cast out demons, to tread upon serpents and scorpions, to speak with new tongues, drink any deadly thing.
-
It shall not hurt them.
-
They shall lay hands in my name.
-
They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.
-
I like the Greek.
-
In that hands they shall lay the literal Greek hands.
-
They shall lay healed.
-
They shall be how?
-
In that name, in that name.
-
So it had to have been at the resurrection, where he received this name, the greatness of his name.
-
In Hebrews 1, it says by inheritance he's received that name.
-
In Philippians, chapter 2, it says that Jesus, the name of Jesus, was conferred upon him by the Father.
Philippians 2 chapter mention
-
In Colossians 2.15, it says that Jesus achieved that name by conquest.
-
And in Ephesians, chapter 3, it says all the family of God has that name and for us it's our family name.
Ephesians 3 chapter mention
-
I mean, the minute we got saved, we have the right to use the name of Jesus.
-
Why?
-
Because we're named by his name.
-
That's our family name, the name of Jesus.
-
So in Christ we inherited that name.
-
We were conferred that name by conquest.
-
We got that great name.
-
It's as if we did everything Jesus did.
-
Why?
-
Because we're in him.
-
Why are you going through all this?
-
Because I found that the more confident and the more revelation you have about the name of Jesus, then it removes all hesitation.
-
It gives us great boldness.
-
When we use that name, we know that things are supernaturally going to happen because there's no other name.
-
There's no other name.
-
Praise God, faith in that name, see, faith in the name of Jesus.
-
You know I like Revelation 19, 13.
-
You know this is such a powerful revelation right here, john, on the Isle of Potmos.
-
You know he's writing about the end days and you know all of the fireworks that are going to happen one of these days.
-
We're getting close to that day and in Revelation 19, 13,.
-
And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood and his name is called the word of God.
-
Say Jesus name is the word of God.
-
His name is called the word of God.
-
So all the power of the word is in the name.
-
See, I'm getting back to something.
-
I want to build your faith so that you'll have great boldness when you use it.
-
It's not just like a magic word or something, it's not just like a.
-
You know, when we just say on the name of Jesus you know, I've seen people just kind of throw it out there no, let's believe the power in that name.
-
You know, I was meditating on the blood one day and I was thinking about you know, they have these genealogy sites now where you can send in your DNA sample.
-
You do a swab and send it in and they'll send you back your DNA matches.
-
And sometimes people are finding relatives that they didn't know existed, or they're finding surprises.
-
Some of the surprises are not pleasant to find out, but what you find out about this is the blood of a person is tied to their name.
-
The blood of a person is tied to their name.
-
So when you have faith in the name, you have faith in his blood.
-
When you have faith in his blood, you have faith in his name.
-
See, our whole covenant is built on the blood of Jesus.
-
It's not built on the blood of bulls and goats the way the Old Testament was.
-
They didn't have and yet they had great miracles in the Old Testament.
-
I think about Joshua holding up the sun and the moon for a whole day and it wouldn't move so he could kill the Amalekites.
-
I got to pause this day.
-
We're having too much success against these people.
-
Let's put a pause on this day and let the sun stand still in the moon in the Valley of Agilon.
-
So they had some power, but great.
-
We have greater power because the name of Jesus is greater.
-
And so when you hurl the name of Jesus at demons, at sickness or mountains or lack or whatever it is that you're using his name against, all authority of the word and all authority of the blood are behind that name.
-
Come on, just lift your hand right now.
-
Thank God for the name of Jesus.
-
I mean, you just get it down to just simple.
-
When you just boil it down to the simple parts, it gives you great boldness when you're praying or when you're saying or when you're decreeing.
-
You know the sons of Sceva here in Acts, chapter 19,.
Acts 19 chapter mention
-
They failed because they weren't in the family, they didn't have the right to use the name of Jesus.
-
In fact, they weren't really that confident.
-
I mean, they were exorcists.
-
I don't know how much success they had in casting demons out of people.
-
In the Old Testament it doesn't say how successful they were, but they saw Paul and they saw how he used the name of Jesus to cast demons out of people and everything, and those handkerchiefs laying on people.
-
Demons left them, and so they started trying to use that name.
-
They'd say, you know, in the name of Jesus that Paul preaches, come out.
-
There was a young man that had demons and that's how they ministered.
-
In the name of Jesus that Paul preaches, come out.
-
You see, they were unsure, they weren't bold, they were kind of just trying an experiment.
-
They were kind of thinking, well, maybe this will work, maybe this will be a better method than what we've been using.
-
Let's just use this name.
-
We don't have any revelation of this name.
-
We don't know, we really don't know him and we don't even have a covenant right to use it, but we're going to try it.
-
We're going to try.
-
See, the name of Jesus is not something we try, it's the name of Jesus, is our family name.
-
We have the right, in fact we have the responsibility, to use that name.
-
Praise God.
-
And so I like Acts 4, 12.
-
And Paul is or rather Peter is winding up to this group and talking to the priests and the temple rulers, and he said in verse 12, neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby men, whereby we may be saved.
-
And that word saved there it means not only go to heaven, but it means healed, delivered, provided for, blessed, protected, safety.
-
All of those things are wrapped up in the word saved.
-
There is no other name, there's no other name.
-
No, it's singular, it is at the top of the top.
-
There's no other name given among men whereby men can be saved, healed and delivered.
-
So when we use that name on benefit of other people, or when we're using that name against you know these troubles that we often encounter in life I'm telling you praise God, we've got the goods, we've got the confidence to use the name of Jesus.
-
There is no notable miracle that can ever occur apart from the name of Jesus.
-
No notable miracles are ever going to occur except apart from the name of Jesus.
-
You know that old hymn they used to sing all hail the power of Jesus' name.
-
Let angels prostrate fall.
-
Well, all hail the power of Jesus' name.
-
Let demons prostrate fall.
-
All hail the power of Jesus' name.
-
Let sickness prostrate fall.
-
Let lack and poverty fall, prostrate fall.
-
I'm telling you, the name of Jesus is greater than any name and that faith, the faith in that name of Jesus, will elicit a perfect soundness in our health, in our finances, in our relationships, in our life.
-
Faith in the name of Jesus, come on, lift your hand tonight and receive this little exhortation.
-
Glory to God.
-
Thank God that we've been given the exclusive ability to use that name.
-
Nobody else can use it.
-
We can use it as Christians, and let's get ourselves ready to be bold when we do.
-
Hallelujah.
