  1. Let's open our Bibles to the book of

  2. Leviticus. The third book in the Bible.

  3. The third book. Leviticus

    Leviticus 17 chapter mention

  4. chapter 17.

  5. Chapter 17.

  6. Leviticus is a book that's often ignored

  7. by God's people or avoided because it's

  8. so difficult.

  9. But it is very important.

  10. And in a hard book, this is

  11. this is extremely important. And I would

  12. say if you learn what you need to learn,

  13. if you get what you need to get today

  14. from Leviticus 17, it'll open up the

  15. whole Bible to you. It'll be a key

  16. to open up everything.

  17. And that's what we're trying to do as we

  18. move in this particular series. This is

  19. the third message in a row of a new

  20. series of messages, great texts in the

  21. Bible. And the text that I'm picking

  22. from each book is are texts that uh

  23. hopefully will be beneficial in

  24. understanding everything.

  25. It's the keys. I'm looking for the keys

  26. that help unlock other stuff.

  27. So, when we're done with this series,

  28. hopefully we'll have a whole key ring of

  29. 66 keys

  30. to help us open up the 66 books and the

  31. different doors to the different rooms

  32. in the Bible.

  33. Uh the scripture says all scripture is

  34. inspired of God

  35. and is profitable for teaching for

  36. reproof for correction and training in

  37. righteousness. Those four things for

  38. teaching for reproof for correction and

  39. training in righteousness.

  40. This life,

  41. this life for the Christian is to be a

  42. life of being taught,

  43. repeatedly taught,

  44. reproved,

  45. corrected,

  46. and trained.

  47. Think of this life as boot camp.

  48. Think of this life that way. Your whole

  49. life,

  50. it's it's boot camp.

  51. You're not there to enjoy yourself.

  52. You're there to be trained.

  53. Trained for what? Ruling and reigning in

  54. the next life with Jesus Christ.

  55. So if your life is hard, it's not meant

  56. to be easy. We live in a fallen world.

  57. You were born in a fallen world. You're

  58. born as a fallen person. If God has

  59. saved you, it's that he might he's got a

  60. future for you as the part of the bride

  61. of Christ eternally. We're going to

  62. reign and rule with him forever. And so

  63. this life is meant to be a a training

  64. ground

  65. for us.

  66. And we need to look at it that way. You

  67. see, life's hard. Is boot camp hard?

  68. Life is hard. We're in a fallen world.

  69. We're fallen people.

  70. But God has that he's training us for.

  71. And so, may God help us to look at life

  72. that way. You know, some of these verses

  73. in the Bible that in this series are

  74. pivotal. They're essential. They're

  75. helpful in understanding all the rest.

  76. Bible's a big book, 66 books.

  77. But we're trying to give keys to open up

  78. the treasures of every book.

  79. Remember our first message, Genesis

    Genesis 15:6

  80. 15:6. And he believed in the Lord, and

  81. he counted it to him for righteousness.

  82. Major big key. major key. You can't

  83. understand the book of Romans. You can't

  84. understand the book of Galatians. You

  85. can't understand the New Testament if

  86. you don't have that key.

  87. We're not saved by personal

  88. righteousness as if all my good deeds

  89. would outweigh my bad. I I'll make it to

  90. heaven. We're saved by God's

  91. righteousness put to our account. It's a

  92. position you get the day you believe.

  93. And so that's a big key, major league

  94. key, so important. The second message

  95. was from the song of Moses in Exodus

    Exodus 15:1–2

  96. 15:1-2.

  97. The Lord is my strength and my song and

  98. my salvation. That's a big key. That's

  99. recorded again in of course Psalm 18,

  100. Isaiah 12, and finally in the book of

  101. Revelation. There's a that that's a big

  102. deal

  103. in the Bible.

  104. And God expresses himself

  105. in each of those different sections a

  106. little differently, but but the same

  107. key.

  108. Now, this morning, we're looking at

  109. Leviticus 17 10-14.

  110. These are instructions to the high

  111. priest Aaron and his sons and to all the

  112. people of Israel about the ceremonial

  113. responsibilities they have as a nation

  114. in the tabernacle and later the temple

  115. to go through all the ceremonies

  116. of animal sacrifice

  117. and worship based on that.

  118. You say, "I don't like animal sacrifice.

  119. I love animals." Well, thank God for

  120. animals.

  121. And thank God for animal sacrifice. God

  122. has a purpose. God loves animals more

  123. than you do. For you think you love

  124. animals more than God.

  125. He created them. He cared for them in

  126. Noah's ark as well as the people. And

  127. guess what?

  128. Remember Jonah

  129. told in Nineveh, "Aren't is Nineveh a

  130. great city and named all the people and

  131. many cattle?" Cattle is a generic word

  132. in the Bible for Adam.

  133. You want to destroy it? Want me to wipe

  134. it out? What about the animal?

  135. So God is dealing with animal sacrifice

  136. here, but he's dealing with the

  137. ceremonies that come from that. the the

  138. the uh importance of the blood of the

  139. animal

  140. to teach people.

  141. So that's where we are and I would say

  142. you cannot the word blood is found in

  143. the Bible multiple times 300 and some

  144. times you can't understand the Bible if

  145. you don't know what the blood mean.

  146. So, Leviticus chap 17 and verse 10-4.

  147. And some of this is going to be

  148. shocking. Some of this is going to be

  149. obtuse. You're going to think, why is

  150. all this going on? What's he saying? Why

  151. is he saying it? But just bear with us

  152. here.

  153. Leviticus 17:10. And whatever man there

    Leviticus 17:10

  154. is of the house of Israel, or of the

  155. strangers of sojourn among you, who eats

  156. any manner of blood,

  157. I will even set my face against that

  158. soul that eats blood, and will cut him

  159. off from among his people.

  160. For the life of the flesh is in the

  161. blood.

  162. The life of the flesh is in the blood.

  163. And I've given it, that's the blood, to

  164. you upon the altar to make atonement for

  165. your souls. For it's the blood that

  166. makes atonement for the soul.

  167. Therefore, I said to the children of

  168. Israel, no soul, that means no person of

  169. you, shall eat any shall eat blood,

  170. neither shall any stranger who sojourns

  171. among you eat blood.

  172. And whatever man there is of the

  173. children of Israel or of the strangers

  174. who sojourn among you hunts and catches

  175. any beast or foul that may be eaten, he

  176. shall even pour out the blood thereof

  177. and cover it with dust. For the this is

  178. the verse, the life of the flesh is in

  179. the blood. For the life of all flesh,

  180. the blood of it is for the life thereof.

  181. And I said to the children, you shall

  182. eat shall eat the blood of no manner of

  183. flesh. For the life of all flesh is the

  184. blood thereof. Whoever eats it will be

  185. cut off. You're messing up everything.

  186. They're eating and drinking blood.

  187. You see, the whole nation

  188. is giving the whole world

  189. a picture ahead of time of what Jesus

  190. would do at the cross of Calvary. They

  191. had to be very careful what they did.

  192. And so they not only had laws like the

  193. ten commandments and the case law, they

  194. had ceremonial law because their whole

  195. existence was a picture

  196. for everyone about God about salvation

  197. and what we are to do. This is the whole

  198. story of the Bible. It's a love letter

  199. from our Lord who loves us and gave

  200. himself for us.

  201. If you want to understand the Bible, if

  202. you want to clearly understand, you need

  203. to clearly understand the theological

  204. vocabulary of the Bible and we have to

  205. be extremely ex clear on this. Do we

  206. know this? Do we understand this? I will

  207. say when I read this this verse for the

  208. first time 50ome years ago, it was like

  209. it opened the window of my mind

  210. to the Old Testament and the New

  211. Testament.

  212. That's how important this verse is.

  213. So we hear Genesis 15 6 big verse.

  214. Exodus 15 uh 1 and two big verses. These

  215. are all important things. This one's

  216. probably one of the most important we

  217. could ever teach.

  218. So, let's be crystal clear. If you want,

  219. you have to know this if you're going to

  220. understand the Old Testament, the New

  221. Testament.

  222. You can't understand Christmas if you

  223. don't understand it.

  224. And I'm going to connect this verse to a

  225. New Testament verse. I'm going to tell

  226. you what it is till later.

  227. Going to put these two verses together

  228. and it should stun us.

  229. But that's much later. But go with me to

  230. June John chapter 6. John chapter 6.

John 6 chapter mention John 6 chapter mention

  231. Hold your place in Leviticus for the

  232. whole message in one sense and go back

  233. to John. Go over to John 6.

  234. 1,500 years after this, our verse in

  235. Leviticus was given, the Lord Jesus was

  236. born

  237. came on the earth, he's just fed 5,000

  238. people with two loaves and five fishes.

  239. No. Yeah. Two fishes and five loaves.

  240. Either way, they got a fish. John 6:47.

    John 6:47

  241. And the sermon followed the meal.

  242. This what Jesus says about himself.

  243. That's very common for people to say.

  244. Muslims say this, JW say it, other

  245. people say it, cultists say it. Jesus

  246. never said he was God. Well, why don't

  247. you just read John six?

  248. I mean, really?

  249. There's hundreds of places to go, but

  250. this is a good one. Verily, verily, I

  251. say to you, he that believes on me has

  252. everlasting life. I am the bread of

  253. life. Jesus preached himself. Jesus

  254. preached himself.

  255. He He pointed everybody to himself.

  256. That's not my job. I'm going to point

  257. everybody to Bill Hixon.

  258. We preach not ourselves, but Christ

  259. Jesus our Lord. That Jesus preached

  260. himself. How arrogant to preach

  261. yourself. If you're not God, you got no

  262. business preaching yourself.

  263. He said, "I am the bread of life.

  264. Your fathers did eat mana in the

  265. wilderness and are dead." That was bread

  266. from heaven. Mana fell from heaven. God

  267. could feed us from

  268. from plants that come out of the ground.

  269. God could feed people from bread fallen

  270. from heaven.

  271. This was unusual.

  272. This is the bread that comes down from

  273. heaven that a man may eat of it and not

  274. die. You thought mana was some You want

  275. You want some more mana? You want me?

  276. The people that ate mana died

  277. ultimately, but you eat of the bread

  278. from heaven. You'll never die. Never

  279. experience death in its fullness. You

  280. may die physically, but that's nothing.

  281. And that just enters you into glory in

  282. the next life.

  283. I am the living bread that came down

  284. from heaven. If any man eat this bread,

  285. he'll live forever.

  286. And the bread that I will give is my

  287. flesh which I'll give for the life of

  288. the world. That's pretty clear, isn't

  289. it?

  290. The Jews therefore struggle among

  291. themselves, how can this man give his

  292. flesh to eat? Who does he think he is?

  293. And Jesus said, "Verily, verily, I say

  294. to you, except you eat the Watch verse

  295. 53."

  296. Jesus said to them, "Verily, verily, I

  297. say to you, except you eat the flesh of

  298. the Son of Man and drink his blood."

  299. What?

  300. We're not supposed to drink blood.

  301. Jesus is speaking figuratively here,

  302. right?

  303. You have to appropriate

  304. me

  305. to yourself.

  306. I'm the spiritual food. I'm the

  307. spiritual drink. I say to you, except

  308. you eat the flesh of the son of man and

  309. drink his blood, you have no life in

  310. you. He who eats my flesh and drinks my

  311. blood has eternal life, and I'll raise

  312. him up at the last day. What is saving

  313. faith? It's it's it's it's

  314. coming to Jesus Christ, appropriating to

  315. ourselves who he is and what he's done.

  316. trusting in him, his death on the cross

  317. and his blood shed on the cross to save

  318. us. It's not trying to do the ten

  319. commandments and get to heaven. You're

  320. never going to get there that way.

  321. That's a ladder to nowhere.

  322. Jesus said, "For my flesh is food

  323. indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He

  324. that eats my flesh and drinks my blood

  325. dwells in me, and I am in him. As the

  326. living father sent me, and I live by my

  327. father,

  328. so that he eats me, even he shall live

  329. by me. This is the bread which came down

  330. from heaven, not as your fathers did eat

  331. mana, and are dead. He that eats of this

  332. bread will live forever. These things,

  333. said he in the synagogue, as he taught

  334. in Capernaium,

  335. the ruins of that synagogue are still

  336. standing.

  337. And Jesus, in fact, there's another

  338. synagogue built on top of it's a

  339. fascinating place.

  340. But in that synagogue, he was teaching

  341. these people these things.

  342. Many therefore of his disciples when

  343. they heard this said, "This is a hard

  344. saying. Who can hear? We hate that

  345. message. Who can hear stuff like this?"

  346. Now, you might say that's some of my

  347. messages legitimately, but you can't say

  348. it about Jesus. This is good stuff.

  349. When Jesus knew it himself, his

  350. disciples murmured at it. He says, "Does

  351. this offend you? You don't like me

  352. saying I came down from heaven? All

  353. right, I'll I'll double down. I'm going

  354. back."

  355. You don't like that? Take some of this.

  356. What if you see the Son of Man ascend up

  357. where he was before? It is the spirit

  358. that gives life. The flesh profits

  359. nothing. The words I speak to you, their

  360. spirit and life.

  361. But there are some of you that believe

  362. not. And of course, he goes on to Judas

  363. and all of the rest of that.

  364. So, what a precious sermon this is as

  365. the Lord points to himself.

  366. Now, we need to hear what he's saying

  367. with this Old Testament background.

  368. They We need to hear it the same way

  369. they heard it. They didn't like it, but

  370. they understood it.

  371. See, they didn't. It's not. They didn't

  372. like it because they didn't understand

  373. it. They liked it because they did

  374. understand it. This guy thinks he's

  375. better than everything. A whole

  376. sacrificial system. This guy thinks he's

  377. the fulfillment of the Old Testament. He

  378. thinks he's better than the mana. He

  379. thinks he's more than animal sacrifices.

  380. Who does he think he is?

  381. And Jesus said to Peter later on, "Will

  382. you also go away?" 5,000 people turned

  383. around and said, "No more of this. We're

  384. leaving."

  385. People do it today when they find out

  386. what Christianity really teaches. I'm

  387. out of here.

  388. They prefer any religion, any philosophy

  389. to that.

  390. And it says in verse 66, from that time

  391. many of his disciples went back and

  392. walked no more with him. And Jesus said,

  393. "You you go away or by leaving and you

  394. don't leave, too?"

  395. Simon Peter said, 'Lord, to whom shall

  396. we go? You got the words of eternal

  397. life. They hated sermon eye. We loved

  398. it.

  399. John Wesley said, "If you don't make

  400. people mad or don't get them saved,

  401. you're not a very good preacher."

  402. And Jesus was a good preacher.

  403. Simon Peter answered and said, "Lord, to

  404. whom shall we go? You have the words of

  405. eternal life, and we believe and are

  406. sure you're the Christ, the son of the

  407. living God.

  408. So when we look at John 6, the blood's

  409. important.

  410. Jesus's blood's important. We have to

  411. it's it's central.

  412. When you think of blood, what do you

  413. think about?

  414. I mean, what's the first thing comes to

  415. your mind? I'm an old guy. I'm getting

  416. stuck with blood test all the time.

  417. It's always another blood test.

  418. I'm thankful for the girls that know how

  419. to do that and the guys that know how to

  420. do that well. But when we think of

  421. blood, we don't think we we think of uh

  422. medical issues. We have blood tests for

  423. medical issues.

  424. Um those kind of things.

  425. We think of tourniquets so you won't

  426. bleed to death or we think of uh

  427. stitches to patch you up when you're

  428. bleeding.

  429. But blood in the Bible is is not

  430. primarily medical. So it is that the

  431. life of the flesh is in the blood. God

  432. knew that before science, the Bible

  433. taught that before science discovered

  434. it. It's your blood that takes food to

  435. the cells and your blood that takes

  436. waste away. You got to have the blood

  437. working, right?

  438. But there's a theological meaning to

  439. blood.

  440. And just as medical doctors are very

  441. occupied with blood work, you can't

  442. understand modern medicine if you don't

  443. get your blood work done.

  444. Only if you get that done can they

  445. really understand, diagnose and treat

  446. you and the health of the body and they

  447. graph all that stuff.

  448. To fail the understanding of the blood

  449. in the Bible is to be woefully

  450. ignorant.

  451. You're like a physician in the Middle

  452. Ages. You don't already know what you're

  453. just guessing.

  454. And so now if in the Bible your blood is

  455. shed,

  456. you're dead.

  457. Without the shedding of blood is no

  458. remission of sins means without dying.

  459. With a d without a death taking place,

  460. there's no remission of sin.

  461. If I said, "How many of you have had

  462. stitches?" Probably most of us have been

  463. stitched up. I've had my chin stitched

  464. up twice.

  465. I've had my thumb stitched up.

  466. And every time I knew I was bleeding

  467. because the blood's dripping on the

  468. ground,

  469. it told me, "Oh, this is a little more

  470. serious than I thought."

  471. And so when we think of bleeding, we

  472. think of the blood being shed. We think

  473. about, you know, had this, had that, got

  474. stitched up for it, had a tourniquet,

  475. whatever.

  476. The shedding of blood in the Bible means

  477. a death takes place.

  478. When you murder somebody, you've shed

  479. their blood.

  480. That's how the Bible puts it.

  481. Let's uh let's look at some verses.

  482. Let's look at some verses. Let's go to

  483. the New Testament first. Get get your

  484. thumb wet and we'll flip a little bit

  485. before we go on. Romans chapter 3, verse

    Romans 3:23

  486. 23.

  487. Romans 3:23.

    Romans 3:23

  488. I'm not going to go to all of them.

  489. There's too many. I'll go to some of

  490. them.

  491. Romans 3:23.

    Romans 3:23

  492. It says,

  493. "For all have sinned and are coming

  494. short of the glory of God."

  495. There's no exception to this in the

  496. human race except Jesus.

  497. We have all sinned and we are all coming

  498. short. The best Christian you ever know,

  499. you ever met, is still coming short. I'm

  500. still coming short. You're still coming

  501. short.

  502. We're not all of you ought to be. We're

  503. not as good as Jesus. We never will be

  504. in this life.

  505. We're all sin and are coming short of

  506. the glory of God. So we got no right to

  507. look down on somebody else said, "I'm

  508. better than you."

  509. No,

  510. that's not the program.

  511. For all have sinned and come short of

  512. the glory of God, being justified freely

  513. by his grace through the redemption

  514. that's in Christ Jesus, whom God has set

  515. forth to be a propitiation. That means a

  516. wrath averting sacrifice through faith

  517. in his what?

  518. his blood

  519. to declare his righteousness for the

  520. remission of sins that are passed to the

  521. forbearance of God. So our faith is to

  522. be in his blood

  523. according to the New Testament.

  524. Okay. Uh Romans 5:9.

    Romans 5:9

  525. Romans 5:9.

    Romans 5:9

  526. Much more than being now justified by

  527. his blood. That means declared just,

  528. declared righteous by his blood, not by

  529. our good works, not by helping little

  530. old ladies across the street. Not by

  531. doing good things. Oh, I keep the ten

  532. commandments. No, you don't. You're

  533. lying to yourself. You're lying to God.

  534. You're lying to me. You don't. Nobody

  535. has except Jesus.

  536. We are justified

  537. by his blood, by his death.

  538. much more than being now justified by

  539. his blood will be saved from wrath

  540. through him.

  541. For if when we were enemies, we were

  542. reconciled to God by the death of his

  543. son, much more being reconciled, we'll

  544. be saved by his life.

  545. Kind of important.

  546. Turn with me to Ephesians chapter 1

    Ephesians 1 chapter mention

  547. and verse 7. That's after Romans is 1 2

  548. Corinthians Galatians Ephesians chapter

    Ephesians 1:7

  549. 1 verse 7

  550. writing to the Christians at the church

  551. at Ephesus he says in whom that's in

  552. Jesus

  553. remember verse six says we're accepted

  554. in the beloved in whom that's the

  555. beloved that's Jesus we have redemption

  556. through his blood redemption through his

  557. blood, the forgiveness of sins according

  558. to the riches of his grace.

  559. That's a very important verse.

  560. It's the blood of Jesus Christ that

  561. cleans us from all sin.

  562. So very very important. Chapter 2 verse

  563. 13.

  564. Chapter 2 verse 13.

  565. But now in Christ Jesus, you who were

  566. once were far off are made near by the

  567. blood of Christ.

  568. You see the old New Testament's full of

  569. verses like this. And only when you

  570. understand Leviticus, do you say, "Oh

  571. yeah, that now I understand what that

  572. mean. Now I now I'm these verses are

  573. starting to open up." When it talks

  574. about Jesus blood, it's talking about

  575. his death.

  576. Ephesians 2:13. But now in Christ Jesus,

    Ephesians 2:13

  577. you once were far off were made near by

  578. the blood of Christ.

  579. Hebrews chapter 9. Hebrews chapter 9

Hebrews 9 chapter mention Hebrews 9:14

  580. verse 14.

  581. I'll just go to verse 13.

  582. 12. Go to verse 12.

  583. Hebrews

    Hebrews 9:12

  584. chapter 9 verse 12. Neither by the blood

  585. of goats and calavs, that's the Old

  586. Testament system, but by his own blood

  587. he's entered in once into the holy

  588. place, having obtained eternal

  589. redemption for us. For if the blood of

  590. bulls and goats and the ashes of a

  591. hepher, sprinkling of the unclean,

  592. sanctify the purifying of the flesh, how

  593. much more shall the blood of Christ, who

  594. through the eternal spirit offered

  595. himself without spot to God, purge your

  596. conscience from dead works to serve the

  597. living and true God. And for this cause

  598. he, that's Jesus, is the mediator of the

  599. New Testament, that may by means of his

  600. death, for the redemption of the

  601. transgressions that were under the first

  602. testament, they who were called might

  603. receive the promise of eternal life. You

  604. see, Old Testament people weren't saved

  605. by animal blood. Animal blood's just a

  606. credit card.

  607. It postpones payment till Jesus would

  608. come and die.

  609. He paid for it.

  610. And so in chapter 13 of Hebrews verse 12

  611. it says wherefore Jesus also that he

  612. might sanctify the people with his own

  613. blood suffered outside the gate. Hebrews

  614. 12 13:12. And there's some really a

  615. couple more good ones and we'll go back.

  616. 1 Peter 1:2. 1 Peter 1:2. Keep going to

    1 Peter 1:2 1 Peter 1:2

  617. the back of your Bible. 1 Peter 1:2.

    1 Peter 1:2

  618. Describing the Christians he was writing

  619. to. The apostle Peter wrote of them

  620. elect according to the fornowledge of

  621. God the Father through sanctification of

  622. the spirit unto obedience and sprinkling

  623. of the blood of Jesus Christ. Every all

  624. three members of the Godhead involved in

  625. salvation.

  626. One planned it, one presented it, and

  627. the other purchased it.

  628. Now turn to first John se. I already

  629. quoted that one. We're still in 17.

  630. >> This then is the message which we've

  631. heard of him and declare to you that God

  632. is light. In him is no darkness at all.

  633. If we say we have fellowship him, walk

  634. in darkness, we lie and do not the

  635. truth. If we walk in the light as he's

  636. in the light, we have fellowship with

  637. one another. And the blood of Jesus

  638. Christ, his son, cleanses us from all

  639. sin. Christians need to be cleansed as

  640. well as non-Christians, right? We all

  641. sin even after we're saved. Some people

  642. say, "I can't get saved because I can't

  643. stop sinning." Nobody can stop sinning

  644. in this life. That doesn't h that's not

  645. the program.

  646. Hopefully, we sin less after we're saved

  647. because we got a new nature. We're not

  648. our old sinful self, but we still have

  649. the old flesh that's still there until

  650. we are glorified.

  651. So, those are some of the verses. It's

  652. not all the verses. I'm not even going

  653. to Revelation. We've already studied a

  654. lot of those. But that that that brings

  655. us up to this whole wonderful thing of

  656. the blood.

  657. Now go back with me to Genesis 9 and

  658. verse 6.

  659. Remember I said

  660. if someone's blood is shed, they're

  661. dead.

  662. Not like me getting my chin busted.

  663. didn't die from either of those

  664. from my thumb.

  665. Right after Noah's flood,

  666. God b makes a covenant.

  667. Genesis chapter 9 verse 6. This is where

    Genesis 9:6

  668. God gives permission for capital

  669. punishment

  670. for murder.

  671. There's some very fascinating things

  672. going on here in this particular

  673. chapter. Noah steps off the ark and

  674. verse one, God blessed Noah and his sons

  675. and said, "Be fruitful and multiply and

  676. fill the earth." He's never rescended

  677. that responsibility. People are supposed

  678. to have babies.

  679. And the fear of you and the dread of you

  680. shall be upon every beast of the earth,

  681. every foul of the air, and upon all that

  682. moves on the earth. On all the fish of

  683. the sea, in your hand are they

  684. delivered. Every moving thing that lives

  685. shall be food for you. Even as the green

  686. herb have I given you all things. The

  687. prefall, pre flood people were

  688. vegetarian.

  689. You ever think about that?

  690. No animal was ever eaten by Adam and

  691. Eve.

  692. or by anybody in the pre-fall world.

  693. They were totally vegetarian.

  694. For the first time, God gives permission

  695. to eat animals,

  696. which means hunting is a legitimate

  697. enterprise in our current world.

  698. And raising cattle, raising sheep is

  699. legitimate for food.

  700. God says this in verse three.

  701. Uh, every moving thing that lives shall

  702. be food for you. Even the green herb

  703. have even as the green herb have I given

  704. you all things. But the flesh with the

  705. life thereof, which is the blood

  706. thereof, shall you not eat.

  707. And surely your blood of your lives will

  708. I require. At the hand of every beast

  709. will I require it. At the hand of man,

  710. at the hand of every man's brother will

  711. I require the life of man. Whoever sheds

  712. man's blood by man shall his blood be

  713. shed. Now that doesn't mean whoever cuts

  714. somebody's finger, you got to cut his

  715. finger. That means if you kill somebody,

  716. first-degree murder. First-degree

  717. murder, not an accident. First-degree

  718. murder,

  719. you're going to be executed. Not sent to

  720. prison for 30 years, 50 years. Executed.

  721. You struck at the image of God. That

  722. other person was made in the image of

  723. God. You struck at God when you murdered

  724. them. Now, fighting in a war is

  725. different. A whole different thing.

  726. Being a policeman and protecting people,

  727. that's a whole different thing. Or being

  728. a father, protecting your family, that's

  729. a different thing. Murder, you're in

  730. trouble.

  731. And so

  732. he says in verse six, whoever sheds

  733. man's blood by man shall his blood be

  734. shed, for in the image of God made him

  735. man. Every human being, every person

  736. here, you are made in the image of God.

  737. When a person

  738. trying to kill you. He's trying to erase

  739. God from the universe.

  740. Very important stuff.

  741. Now,

  742. let's uh think through this just a

  743. little bit. What a fascinating business.

  744. And and the communion, a communion wafer

  745. and the communion cup. What are we

  746. doing?

  747. The wafer represents

  748. Christ's body.

  749. The cup, whether it's grape juice like

  750. we use or wine like other churches use,

  751. represents his blood.

  752. Wait a minute. I says, you said we're

  753. not supposed to drink blood.

  754. Yes, but figuratively we do it, right?

  755. Not literally. We're remembering his

  756. death.

  757. Do you remember the book of Exodus

    Exodus 12 chapter mention

  758. chapter 12? God did something. He put

  759. those 10 plagues on Egypt. Those 10

  760. plagues were destroyed Egypt and the

  761. last one was the biggest. Do you realize

  762. more Egyptians died in that last of the

  763. 10 plagues than atomic bombs on Japan

  764. and Nagasaki and Hroshima

  765. when the firstborn died? Do the math on

  766. it. People

  767. have ways of measuring the population.

  768. I' I've figured this out.

  769. This was a massive thing. Lesser matters

  770. didn't lesser means didn't work. Pharaoh

  771. kept hardened his heart and God dropped

  772. the bomb on them. That bomb was a plague

  773. and it went throughout Egypt and God

  774. told the Jews, "Get in your house and

  775. the plague's going to destroy the

  776. firstborn of every family. Everybody

  777. else is okay, but the firstborn's in

  778. danger."

  779. Oh, yeah. They killed the They killed

  780. all the boy babies, didn't they? Jewish

  781. babies. Threw them in the river.

  782. Yeah. And the river turned to blood.

  783. Why? Cuz they shed the blood.

  784. Those Jewish boys. Moses almost made it

  785. into the river. He was in a little raft

  786. his mother made.

  787. You see, it's coming back. Sin come back

  788. on a nation.

  789. There's consequences to sin.

  790. Your sins and my sins come back on us.

  791. And they came back on that nation.

  792. And they were guilty as a nation.

  793. And so, may God help us to just think

  794. how solemn this is. But God said to the

  795. Jews when that was going to happen, the

  796. last plague, he'll let you go after this

  797. last one. It's going to be, I'm going to

  798. pass through Egypt tonight. The

  799. firstborn, every family's going to die.

  800. And the only way for you to escape it,

  801. because you're sinners, too, not just

  802. the Egyptians. And we Christians need to

  803. remember, it's not just those

  804. nonchurched people out there that sin

  805. and drugs and drink and uh adultery and

  806. all that other stuff.

  807. I'm a sinner, too. I sin, too.

  808. Apart from Christ, I'm in trouble, too.

  809. So, they had to they had a ceremony.

  810. They killed a lamb and they put the

  811. blood of the lamb on the door, didn't

  812. they?

  813. And they put the blood and God said,

  814. "When I see the blood, I'll pass over

  815. you." That's Passover.

  816. They celebrate Passover once a year,

  817. reenacting this whole thing.

  818. And I'm talking about Exodus 12 now.

  819. Verse 5-13.

  820. Exodus 12 5-13. When I see the blood, I

  821. will pass over you.

  822. And he says in verse 12, "For I'll pass

  823. through the land of Egypt this night,

  824. and will smite the firstborn in the land

  825. of Egypt, both man and beast, and

  826. against all the gods of Egypt will I

  827. execute judgment. I'm the Lord. And the

  828. blood shall be to you for a toonement on

  829. your houses where you dwell. And when I

  830. see the blood, I'll pass over you. And

  831. the plague shall be not be on you to

  832. destroy you when I smite the land of

  833. Egypt."

  834. I can just see some Jewish woman telling

  835. her husband, "You're not going to put

  836. you're not going to put that blood on my

  837. door."

  838. No, it's got to be there.

  839. Got to be there. And you know where they

  840. put it?

  841. This is no This is no accident. This is

  842. no coincidence. They put this side of

  843. the door, this side of the door, and

  844. over the top

  845. the three points of the cross.

  846. And God said, "But I see the blood

  847. pass.

  848. Not that you're better than them. It's

  849. that your sins

  850. covered with the blood and theirs

  851. aren't."

  852. Anybody put blood on their door, they

  853. were okay.

  854. Those that didn't, they got in trouble.

  855. Now, when Jes the night before Jesus

  856. died, guess what they were doing? The

  857. Jews were told to celebrate Passover

  858. once a year, every year for the rest of

  859. their existence.

  860. Guess when Jesus died? Passover day. You

  861. think that was a coincidence?

  862. I mean, God does these things. So, we

  863. know the Bible is true.

  864. This is not an accident. You can't

  865. control history this way.

  866. It's no accident that Jesus wrote to

  867. rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and

  868. died on Passover day. And they

  869. celebrated Passover. The Jewish day

  870. starts at night with his disciples.

  871. They're eating the Passover meal

  872. together when Jesus brings communion.

  873. And he's basically saying, "You've been

  874. looking forward to my death, looking

  875. backward to Egypt, and looking forward

  876. to my death by the Passover meal. Now

  877. you're going to remember my death for

  878. you. It's my blood you're going to look

  879. at instead of the lamb's blood because

  880. I'm the lamb of God that takes away the

  881. sin of the world.

  882. That's not just Jewish people.

  883. Now, go to read Acts 20. Flip over to

  884. Acts 20.

  885. Now, I hope that helps open the Bible to

  886. you. Whenever you see that word blood,

  887. the New Testament or Old Testament,

  888. there's many places that's going to

  889. start to ring differently to you. Now,

  890. sometimes it just rings with somebody

  891. blood, but most of the time it's dealing

  892. with that 326 times.

  893. A lot of those are the ceremonial blood

  894. and all the rest. In Acts 20,

    Acts 20:28

  895. verse 28,

  896. this is our second verse.

  897. Paul's in the city of Ephesus. He's

  898. saying goodbye to these people. He's not

  899. going to see them anymore in this life.

  900. Saying goodbye to the elders of the

  901. church. And he says in Acts 20:28, "Take

    Acts 20:28

  902. heed therefore to yourselves and to all

  903. the flock over which the Holy Spirit's

  904. made you oversee seers to feed."

  905. Sometimes that can be translated

  906. shepherd the church of God which he's

  907. purchased with his own blood.

  908. With his own blood.

  909. Feed the church of God which he's

  910. purchased with his own blood.

  911. Oh, Christmas

  912. and communion go together.

  913. Christmas and Calvary go together.

  914. Therefore, Christmas and communion go

  915. together. What happened on the cross of

  916. Calvary? God was in Christ reconciling

  917. the world to himself.

  918. We've been purchased

  919. by the blood of God.

  920. were bought and paid for. We were

  921. redeemed not with silver and gold from

  922. our vain manner of life, but the

  923. precious blood of Christ

  924. as a lamb without blemish and elance.

  925. The greatest person who ever lived, who

  926. lived a perfect life, a life you and I

  927. have not lived,

  928. >> and died a horrible death that we can

  929. have his righteousness put to our

  930. account and be in God's holy presence

  931. for him.

  932. Now Paul identifies the church of God.

  933. The church belongs to God.

  934. He obtained it with his own blood.

  935. But now God the father has no blood.

  936. Right?

  937. We believe in one God. Three persons are

  938. called God. God the father has no blood.

  939. God's a spirit.

  940. >> Spirits don't have any blood. Angels

  941. don't have any blood. They're spirit

  942. beings. God the Father doesn't have any

  943. blood.

  944. God is spirit and those that worship him

  945. must worship him in spirit and truth. Um

  946. God the Holy Spirit doesn't have any

  947. blood.

  948. Again, he's spirit.

  949. God the Holy Spirit has no blood.

  950. He's a spirit. God the Son, the eternal

  951. son of God had no blood until he be got

  952. it in Mary's womb.

  953. He had no blood before he became God

  954. incarnate in Mary's womb. And that's

  955. Hebrews chapter 2:14. Since therefore

  956. children share in flesh and blood, he

  957. himself, that's Jesus, likewise parttook

  958. of the same, that through death he might

  959. destroy the one who had the power of

  960. death, that is the devil.

  961. This is a sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh

  962. sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh

  963. sh sh sh sh shing sh sh sh sh sh sh sh

  964. sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh

  965. shining example of how the Bible fits

  966. together.

  967. A lot of people don't like it. Oh, the

  968. Bible's that bloody book. It's always

  969. talking about sacrifices and death and

  970. all that. Yeah, it's talking about the

  971. God's love pay a price you couldn't pay

  972. no matter how many lifetimes you ever

  973. lived.

  974. And the Lord's supper is not a small

  975. thing.

  976. It's a big thing.

  977. I'm going to show you how big from the

  978. Old Testament.

  979. Turn with me to Genesis 4 verse 34.

  980. You remember Old Testament they were

  981. circumcising all the boys, right?

  982. Jesus was circumcised. John the Baptist

  983. was circumcised. Isaac was circumcised.

  984. Abraham was circumcised. And everybody

  985. else was always getting circumcised.

  986. And

  987. circumcision was a ceremony. That's what

  988. it was. It wasn't. You don't get saved

  989. by circumcision.

  990. And people were thinking that. And Paul

  991. showed that that wasn't true.

  992. And there was a circumcision of the body

  993. and there's a circumcision of the heart

  994. according to the Old Testament.

  995. But in in um

  996. in the book of Exodus, I'm sorry, I'm in

  997. the wrong place. Exodus chapter 4. I

    Exodus 4 chapter mention

  998. think I wrote

  999. Genesis. Exodus chapter 4.

    Exodus 4 chapter mention

1000. God calls Moses at the burning bush. So

1001. Moses and his wife are gone.

  1002. They're finally going to get he's

  1003. returning to Egypt.

  1004. In verse 24,

1005. it came to pass by the way in the end

1006. Moses and his wife were going back to

1007. Egypt. The Lord met him and sought to

  1008. kill him.

1009. What? Apparently Moses either he got

1010. sick or he became something's going on

1011. and it became obvious why. Then Zapora

1012. took a sharp nut stone and cut off the

1013. foreskin of her son and cast it at his

1014. feet and said, "Surely a bloody husband

1015. you are to me." So he let him go. Then

1016. she said, "A bloody husband you are

  1017. because of the circumcision."

1018. But Moses neglected to circumcise his

1019. son and he is going to be the deliverer

1020. of the Jewish nation. And he never got

1021. around doing that. And so God said, "No,

1022. you need to do this before you go down."

1023. And Moses himself had been circumcised

1024. as a baby. Remember, it was three months

1025. before they put him in the basket. And

1026. they would always do that on the sixth

  1027. day.

  1028. But his son was

1029. Now, does that sound too severe?

  1030. You neglect the ceremony.

  1031. Therefore,

1032. now God didn't take his life, but he got

  1033. his attention.

1034. You're going to die if you don't do

  1035. this.

1036. You know how the Corinthians got in

  1037. trouble?

1038. They mistreated each other at the love

1039. feast that preceded the Lord's supper,

1040. and some of them were sick, and some of

  1041. them died.

  1042. The Lord's Supper is a ceremony.

  1043. Circumcision is a ceremony. You can't

  1044. get saved by ceremonies.

1045. But ceremonies are teaching us

1046. something. And God wants it to be

1047. taught. He wants us to get the lessons.

1048. This is my body broken for you. This is

1049. my blood shed for you. This is

  1050. important.

1051. Do we believe these things or do we not?

1052. Are we involved in an idolatrous view of

1053. life? We've got an idol, a god of our

1054. own making. Uh, and by the way, atheism

1055. is also the same thing. You make a god

1056. of yourself. Atheists, they say they

1057. don't believe in God. Yeah, they believe

  1058. they're the god.

1059. They don't want any competition. Got a

  1060. god complex.

1061. JC Riyle said, "Beware of manufacturing

1062. a god of your own, of your own. A god

1063. who's all mercy but not just. A god

1064. who's all love but not holy. A God who

1065. has a heaven but uh for everybody but a

1066. hell for none. A God who allows good and

1067. evil to be side by side in time but will

1068. make no distinction of good and evil in

1069. eternity. Such a God is an idol of your

1070. own hands and of your own fancy and and

1071. sent uh and sentimentality that you

1072. you've made. He is not the God of the

1073. Bible. And besides the God of the Bible,

  1074. there is no God.

1075. There is no God. Our

1076. our hearts are idle factories. John

1077. Calvin said, "The only way to not be an

1078. idoltor is know this book and worship

1079. God as he is, not as we think he or want

  1080. him to be."

1081. Modern day pastor said, "The reason why

1082. so much confusion over sin is because

1083. there's a confusion about who God is."

1084. Most people do not have a biblical view

1085. of God. The view of God is their view of

1086. God is based on their own opinion. Have

1087. you ever had a person say you try to

1088. teach them something, "Oh, my God would

1089. never do that. Oh, my God would never."

1090. They're not worshiping the God of the

1091. Bible. They're an idoltor. You just got

1092. to flat out tell you, "Well, then you're

  1093. an idoltor.

1094. You made up your own God.

1095. That God doesn't exist. It's not worthy

  1096. of your time."

1097. So he says, "So what most people do,

1098. they make a god in their image and

1099. likeness. So the God they've made likes

1100. the things they like and hates the

  1101. things they hate.

  1102. That's convenient.

1103. So it's very very simple. We need to

1104. think of God as he is.

1105. And as one Bible teacher said, when we

1106. think of God, we don't go high enough.

1107. We think of oursel, we don't go low

  1108. enough.

1109. You say, "Well, that gives me a bad

  1110. self-image." No, it gives you a

  1111. realistic self-image. You're worse than

1112. you imagined, and God's greater than you

  1113. imagine.

1114. But there's salvation for the worst of

1115. us through faith in Jesus Christ.

1116. Now, you know what Satan does at

  1117. Christmas? Satan hates Christmas.

1118. Did you you ever notice something in

  1119. America?

1120. Every holiday that has anything to say

  1121. about God,

  1122. Satan has a diversion.

  1123. He has a diversion.

1124. You know what I mean by a diversion?

1125. It's like a cowboy shootout. The rocks.

1126. He takes a rock and he throws it over

1127. there and the guy looks that way and

  1128. then he shoots it.

1129. Instead of looking at him, he looks over

1130. there. So Satan says, "Look at this over

1131. here. Look at this over here.

1132. Look at Thanksgiving. Is it an accident?

1133. What do they call it? Black Friday or

  1134. whatever they call it.

1135. Don't look at Thursday. Don't look at

1136. Thanksgiving. Look at the go shopping.

1137. Is it wrong to go shopping? Guess not.

1138. On Friday, you want to go shopping, go

1139. shopping. But think about behind this

1140. in Christmas. It's all about Jesus. And

1141. people make it all about what?

1142. Santa Claus is coming to town.

1143. Well, Santa Claus isn't God.

1144. The Babylonian bee is a Christian sar

1145. sarcastic humor site. It says Santa

1146. Claus converts to Calvinism. He moves

1147. everybody to the naughty list.

  1148. Think about that one.

1149. Calvinism says, "Well, we all sin and

1150. come short of the glory."

1151. But you remember the old song, he's

1152. making a list and checking it twice, see

1153. who's naughty and nice. Well, that

  1154. implies there's some that aren't

1155. naughty. Nope. We're all naughty.

1156. You need to get a biblical view of life

1157. because we have a biblical view of God.

1158. When we think of God, we don't go high

1159. enough. We think of oursel, we don't go

1160. low enough. And God is so much better

1161. and greater than we imagine. And we are

1162. so much worse than we imagined. And it's

1163. a satanic diversion. He does it for

1164. Thanksgiving. He does it for Christmas.

1165. He does it for Easter.

1166. Don't think about the cross. Don't think

1167. about the death of Christ. Don't think

1168. about the resurrection. Think about the

1169. Easter Bunny and all these eggs or

1170. whatever else you want to do.

1171. Now, if you want to paint eggs on

1172. Easter, I'm okay with that. I'm just

1173. saying don't let the diversion keep you

1174. from thinking about what's really

  1175. important.

1176. Uh, and some people see,

1177. all religions got some good in them. No,

  1178. they don't. Most religions are man-made.

  1179. There's 3,000 man-made religions.

  1180. They're all idolattors.

1181. Martin Lloyd Jones, the Welsh preacher,

1182. said, "Night and day are all alike to a

1183. blind man. Truth and error are all one

1184. to an ignorant man." And hopefully

1185. you're not ignorant. Now, the God of the

1186. Bible talks about blood. Without the

1187. shedding of blood, there's no

1188. forgiveness of sins. But with the

1189. shedding of Christ's blood, big sins,

1190. little sins, I mean, humongous sin can

1191. be forgiven because God's greater than

1192. any sin you've ever done or anybody else

  1193. has ever done.

1194. And false gods and false religions all

  1195. have a shelf life. They've all got a

1196. expiration life. According to Jeremiah

    Jeremiah 10 chapter mention

  1197. chapter 10,

1198. body Bakam said, "We act as though the

1199. sins of others are too significant to

  1200. forgive while simultaneously believing

1201. our sins are not significant enough to

  1202. even mention.

  1203. We're not

1204. we are not able to really judge oursel."

  1205. No. No.

1206. Give Ourel a pass. We we we rule other

  1207. people differently than us.

  1208. And I I I want to be a I know my I got

1209. to be conscious of my time here, but

1210. think about modern times, how wicked man

1211. is. We're getting better. No, we're not.

1212. I think it was Bacham that wrote this. I

1213. may have read it somewhere else. The

1214. Black Death killed 130 million people.

1215. Spanish flu killed 75 million. World War

  1216. I killed 21 million people. The

1217. Holocaust killed 11 million people.

1218. Global abortion from 2019 to 2024 killed

  1219. 365

  1220. million people.

1221. We are living. You think, "Oh, if I

  1222. lived in Nazi times, I would I wouldn't

1223. put up with that. I'd stand up against

  1224. that." What about this?

  1225. What's worse?

1226. Child murdering their mother like we

1227. just saw with Rob Rener.

1228. Her mother murdering her child.

1229. We live in a world without morals and

1230. without meaning. It's banished God from

  1231. their minds

  1232. and their thoughts.

1233. We live in a world that's excommunicated

1234. God from his universe as far as they are

1235. concerned and evicted God from their

  1236. lives.

1237. A philosopher that helped me a lot when

1238. I was all mixed up in university 50

1239. years ago, Francis Schaefer, said,

1240. "Modern man, having repudiated God,

1241. finds himself in an absurd position. He

1242. believes he is nothing but a product of

1243. chance, yet demands meaning, values, and

1244. purpose in a meaningless universe."

  1245. What's that called? Intellectual

  1246. schizophrenia.

  1247. can't even think, right?

1248. So, may God help us as we come to the

  1249. Lord's table.

  1250. May we appreciate

1251. his death for our sins. And not just

  1252. sins of commission.

1253. They're sins of omission. If you know to

1254. do good, you don't do it. That's sin.

1255. According to the Bible, those are sins

  1256. of omission.

1257. Moses almost died for not circumcising

1258. his son. The Corinthians almost died for

1259. not waiting for one anothers in the love

1260. feast. Nabal died because he wouldn't

1261. support David. He didn't attack David.

1262. He didn't report David to King Saul. He

1263. just he just misrepresented David and

1264. justified his his uh uh ignoring of him.

1265. Samuel said, "God forbid that I should

1266. sin against God and ceasing to pray for

1267. you. If I just stop praying for you, I'm

  1268. sinning."

1269. So may God help us.

  1270. God became a man.

1271. I don't know if we can even grasp what

1272. that means. Not just a he became a

1273. member of the human race.

1274. How would you like to become us a worm

  1275. permanently?

1276. Our God became a man in the person of

1277. Jesus Christ and he died for your sins

1278. and mine. He's coming back as the God

1279. man. He's marrying the church. We have

1280. got a big wedding to look forward. The

1281. world's looking forward to judgment.

  1282. We're looking forward to a wedding.

1283. And we should be thinking not about the

1284. Christmas tree, although if you got one,

1285. I'm okay with that. I'm just saying if

1286. you want to do that, but how about

1287. Calvar's tree where Jesus died?

  1288. Don't forget that.

1289. Remember what the angel said to Joseph

1290. about Mary? She will call his name

1291. Jesus, for he will save his people from

1292. their sin. That's why he's being born,

1293. to save his people from their sin.

1294. Satan won't say, "Look over here. Look

1295. at the mistletoe. Look at the family get

1296. together. Look at jingle bells and all

1297. that stuff. Don't look at Jesus. Don't

1298. look at the baby Jesus. Don't look at

1299. the seed of the woman that's supposed to

1300. bruise the serpent's head. Don't look at

  1301. that.

  1302. Anything but that."

1303. God himself paid a price we could not

1304. pay so we could be redeemed. It's an

1305. insult to a holy God to reject his son

1306. or just to forget his son and ignore his

1307. son. God doesn't have blood. But God,

1308. the son as the God man does have blood.

1309. And that was God's blood that was shed.

1310. Feed the church of God which he's

1311. purchased with his own blood.

1312. He uses the word God there on purpose.

1313. It's meant to shock the mind.

1314. And some of the early scribes got

1315. shocked when they read it and they

1316. changed the word God to Lord because

1317. they thought, "Well, that means Jesus."

1318. Well, Lord means all three. But it was

1319. just too shocking for them.

1320. But the best textual critics are very

1321. clear on this and many of them aren't

1322. even Christians. You know, he wrote God.

1323. He wrote, he said, "God, and the Bible

1324. says God, it's the blood of God.

1325. feed the church of God which he's

1326. purchased with his own blood.

1327. And so may God help us to remember all

  1328. of that

1329. today. If you're here and you're not yet

1330. a Christian, you might say, "I'm too

1331. bad. God would never forgive me for

1332. this, that. You don't know me, pastor. I

1333. don't have to know you. God knows you.

1334. He knows you. He knows everything."

1335. and the God who put the word blood in

  1336. the Bible 362

  1337. times.

  1338. Many of those times

1339. referring to death by violence. 203

1340. 103 of the times blood of sacrifice.

1341. The Bible says the life is in the blood

1342. and Jesus gave his life

1343. so that we could be saved.

1344. If you're not a Christian, may God speak

1345. to your heart today. What a wonderful

  1346. time.

  1347. Come know Lord.

1348. It's not by changing your ways. It's not

1349. by it's by changing your mind.

1350. Reduces the change of ways. You can't

1351. change your ways. You can repent. That

1352. can't even do that. If you God's grace,

1353. you can. That means a change of mind.

  1354. The results in faith.

1355. I've been thinking wrong about myself.

1356. I've been thinking wrong about God. Been

  1357. thinking wrong about life.

1358. Repent and believe the gospel.

1359. May God do the work that I can't do and

1360. you can't bring you to himself. Don't

1361. know him yet as your savior and your

1362. lord. We're going to pass the bread.

1363. We're going to wait for one another

  1364. and partake together.

1365. If you're visiting with us this morning,

1366. you're not a Christian, uh, just let the

1367. cup in the past and the bread pass by.

  1368. It's is a s eating the bread and

1369. drinking the cup is symbolic of faith.

1370. So if you don't have that faith, just

1371. let it pass by. Or if you're Christian

1372. and you're you you don't feel like

1373. you're in real good fellowship with the

1374. Lord right now, just let it pass by.

1375. We're not going to look at you. That's

  1376. between you and God.

1377. Father, we thank you for in the fullness

1378. of time, God sent forth his son, born of

1379. a woman, born under the law to redeem

1380. those who were under the law.

1381. And Father, as we wait

1382. on you this morning, we pass the bread

1383. and the cup. We partake of that. It's

  1384. symbolic of our faith

1385. in Jesus and his who he is and what he's

  1386. done.

  1387. And we're admitting we're sinners. We

  1388. can't save ourselves.

  1389. We're admitting he's the savior and

1390. we're not ashamed of him.

1391. And so bless this part of the service

1392. for your glory and our good. Jesus name.

  1393. Amen.
