    1 Corinthians 1 chapter mention

  4. 1 Corinthians chapter 1.

    1 Corinthians 1 chapter mention

  5. Um, this is the revelation of God in

  6. Christ,

  7. revelation from the Trinity, from the

  8. Godhead.

  9. We saw some of that this morning

  10. in this message.

  11. The Bible has things like like in Christ

  12. uh the fullness of Christ

  13. verses that Mike read over there in

  14. Ephesians talks about the fullness of

  15. Christ and the fact that we're in

  16. Christ. So everything is in him

  17. when it comes to our salvation.

  18. And Paul's constantly, the New Testament

  19. is constantly reminding us of that

  20. and learning that. And here in 1

    1 Corinthians 1 chapter mention

  21. Corinthians chapter 1, after Paul wrote

  22. to them about not glorying in the flesh

  23. and not glorying in man's wisdom,

  24. um, but uh, leaning to God,

  25. humbling ourselves as we come to Christ

  26. for our salvation.

  27. And God says here in verse 29 of 1

  28. Corinthians

  29. that no flesh should glory in his

  30. presence. That's one of the reasons why

  31. things are the way they are. God,

  32. Adam and and the devil um were caught up

  33. in pride.

  34. That's pulled them away from God, trying

  35. to be something else or something more

  36. and not listening to God. And now as we

  37. come back, the salvation that God has

  38. provided is is in a way that no flesh is

  39. going to glory in his presence.

  40. But that's okay because of him. Are you

  41. in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto

  42. us wisdom, righteousness,

  43. sanctification,

  44. and redemption. All those things and

  45. more are now ours, ours because of the

  46. person of Christ.

  47. So that's the question now. Are we in

  48. Christ or are we not in Christ? That's

  49. the thing that that Paul talks about

  50. throughout the New Testament. Those who

  51. are in Christ have been made a new

  52. creation.

  53. So the Bible tells us where these things

  54. are and where these things can be found.

  55. And here we see in Christ Jesus,

  56. you know, God has made us. We didn't

  57. make ourselves. It's something that God

  58. has done. He made us all these things

  59. that according to uh according as it is

  60. written, he that glories, let him glory

  61. in the Lord that no flesh should glory

  62. in his presence. So all these things are

  63. in Christ. And then Paul goes on to talk

  64. about uh that here in chapter 2. He

  65. says, "And I, brethren, when I came to

  66. you, I came not with the excellency of

  67. speech

  68. uh of wisdom or declaring unto you the

  69. testimony of God, for I determined not

  70. to know anything among you except Jesus

  71. Christ and him crucified." So that that

  72. was what Paul focused on. And that's

  73. what Paul zero wrote in on of the gospel

  74. of Christ that everything is in him

  75. Jesus crucified

  76. um for us.

  77. And then he says over in verse 16 of

  78. chapter 2

  79. he says for who he has known the mind of

  80. the Lord that he may instruct him. We

  81. have the mind of Christ. So even our

  82. mind now is a gift from God that comes

  83. to us through Christ.

  84. So, we try to understand what those

  85. things are. Um, these great gifts that

  86. we have that have come to us in Christ.

  87. And we want to make sure we're on the

  88. right foundation. Paul says that over

  89. there, for other foundation can no man

  90. lay than that which is laid, which is

  91. Jesus Christ. So the gifts that we have,

  92. the gifts that gift of salvation that

  93. God's given to us, the gifts that we

  94. have in the church, you know, everything

  95. we need to live, the Bible says it all

  96. comes to us in Christ. And then we spend

  97. the rest of our lives trying to

  98. understand what that is and you know

  99. what that means. And Paul started out

  100. that list there of all the things that

  101. that we have or the wisdom of God. We

  102. have the wisdom of God in Christ. So

  103. that's why we study the the word of God.

  104. Turn over to Ephesians

    Ephesians 1 chapter mention

  105. chapter 1.

  106. There was a very old church creed that

  107. said, "The Father is God, the Son is

  108. God, the Spirit is God. Yet not three

  109. gods but one."

  110. So those three gods are united in our

  111. salvation.

  112. And there are things that God the Father

  113. did. There are things that God the Son

  114. did. And there are things that the Holy

  115. Spirit has done.

  116. So, you know, we have we have these

  117. things in here. So, God is as we look

  118. this morning, it's you know, God's

  119. personality, God's personhood, who he

  120. is.

  121. And you know, the father is not

  122. different than the son. They're united.

  123. the Son and the Holy Spirit, they're not

  124. different. They're united as well.

  125. But then John, remember that verse that

  126. said the spirit when he comes is going

  127. to speak of Christ when he gets here.

  128. He's going to glorify Christ. He's going

  129. to magnify Christ. So this the Holy

  130. Spirit knows everything is in Christ

  131. when it comes to our salvation.

  132. in this chapter here in Ephesians

    Ephesians 1 chapter mention

  133. chapter 1. This is this is a great

  134. chapter. You guys know that one of my

  135. favorites in in in the whole Bible.

  136. Uh this chapter is just like like a

  137. couple of chapters in Romans. Just done

  138. so much for me as a Christian to see

  139. these things. And um it it goes on here

  140. for 23 verses. This is the longest

  141. sentence um in the in the New Testament.

  142. Uh and he he goes over to verse 14. Then

  143. there's a little break wherefore, but

  144. for 14 verses, Paul goes on about all

  145. these wonderful things. And uh we could

  146. pull each one of them out of there and

  147. look at them individually, but but uh he

  148. he starts off by saying in verse three,

  149. "Blessed be God the Father of our Lord

  150. Jesus Christ. He's blessed us with all

  151. spiritual blessings in heavenly places

  152. in Christ."

  153. So two great things here where they

  154. really count, which is heaven, and where

  155. where we can find them in Christ.

  156. And then Paul goes on here about, you

  157. know, how great uh Christ is and how

  158. great this salvation is and um all these

  159. things that we might trust Christ. He

  160. says in verse 12 that we should be the

  161. praise and the glory who first trusted

  162. in Christ.

  163. So our faith is where the new birth

  164. comes. Our faith is where uh God gives

  165. us this gift of salvation for us uh to

  166. have. And then this chapter wraps up by

  167. s, you know, saying Jesus is, you know,

  168. he's going to be above everything. Uh,

  169. and everything has been put under his

  170. feet,

  171. you know, since he's come to earth and

  172. died for our sins. And he's defeated the

  173. works of the devil. He's defeated the

  174. world. He's defeated sin.

  175. That's what Psalm 110 says. That that

  176. talk between God the Father and God the

  177. Son.

  178. God the Son said, "Set here until I make

  179. all of these enemy, all your enemies

  180. your foottool."

  181. And then Paul tells us all those things

  182. over in Corinthians there that Jesus has

  183. put under the father's feet and under

  184. his own feet. And then Ephesians says

  185. that everything is in Christ. Everything

  186. is in Christ for us. You know, that's

  187. where our salvation is. you know, the

  188. church, the head of the church. This is

  189. the great uh letter written to the

  190. church here uh in Ephesians. And that's

  191. what Paul says. Everything is in Christ.

  192. And then he starts off the book by

  193. saying that everything is in Christ.

  194. We're blessed with all spiritual

  195. blessings in heavenly places in Christ.

  196. So, you know, the the Bible asked the

  197. question, who can forgive sin?

  198. You know, that's back there in the

  199. Gospels. And that's a good question to

  200. ask. Who can forgive sin? Well, only God

  201. can do that. And if God has forgiven us

  202. of our sin, then you know, we can have

  203. that forgiveness and know what that

  204. forgiveness is. And that's who Christ

  205. is. He's he is our forgiveness. Uh he is

  206. the penalty in the or the payment for

  207. our sins. Now, turn over to chapter 2

  208. and the book of Ephesians here.

  209. It says, "For by grace are you saved

  210. through faith and not of yourself. It's

  211. a gift of God."

  212. So everything in chapter one is in

  213. Christ. And everything in chapter one is

  214. a gift.

  215. Our salvation.

  216. Um and then Paul told the Corinthians

  217. that as he started that book of

  218. Corinthians, our sanctification, our

  219. redemption, our wisdom, you know, every

  220. good and perfect gift comes from the

  221. father of light in whom there is no

  222. variables nor shadow of turning. So God

  223. has given us a perfect gift, this gift

  224. uh of eternal life in his son.

  225. And then he goes on to say, "Not of

  226. works lest any man should boast." And

  227. that's what we'd be doing, wouldn't we?

  228. Oh, I'm saved and you're not. I'm a

  229. better man and you're not. We'd be like

  230. the Pharisee.

  231. But this humbles us all.

  232. You know, there's there's none good. No,

  233. not one. And then he says, we are his

  234. workmanship

  235. created in Christ Jesus. So, you know,

  236. we've been made a new creation in Christ

  237. once we've been born again.

  238. And that's what we need. We need to be

  239. born again. We need to be born from

  240. above. We need to be born again by the

  241. word of God.

  242. We need to take God up on this precious

  243. gift

  244. uh unto good works which God has before

  245. ordained that we should walk in them. So

  246. that's our daily walk. And that's that's

  247. what Ephesians this book's all about.

  248. You know, don't go with the world, go

  249. with Christ. you know, and he goes so

  250. far to say as, you know, the sin and

  251. things like that, that's that's not

  252. Christ. That's not who he is.

  253. And then if you will look in chapter 3

  254. in verse 9,

  255. so this is the duty of the church.

  256. The the duty of the word of God is to to

  257. tell us who God is,

  258. give us instruction.

  259. We'd have no Christianity without the

  260. Bible.

  261. And we'd have no salvation without the

  262. Bible.

  263. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by

  264. the word of God. Pull the word of God

  265. out and there's no faith. There's no

  266. hearing. There's nothing to preach. But

  267. with it there, that's that's where our

  268. faith comes. That's from from uh God as

  269. it says here through faith in God over

  270. there in verse eight.

  271. But here he says in verse 9 talking

  272. about all these blessings that are in

  273. Christ like he talked about in chapter

  274. one all spiritual blessings in heavenly

  275. places in Christ. So it's all they all

  276. come to us in one place in one person

  277. and he's God's son. You know we saw that

  278. this morning. This is God's son who come

  279. to earth. Um was born in a manger in

  280. Bethlehem. Maybe you've heard of him. Uh

  281. we just celebrated Christmas a couple

  282. months ago. The incarnation. I just

  283. every year I just shake my head that

  284. God said to Mary and Joseph, "Here's my

  285. son. Just, you know, take him and take

  286. good care of him." Incredible.

  287. But that's the wisdom of God. God knew

  288. who to bring his son to. He didn't give

  289. him to me. I probably would have lost

  290. him. He gave him to Mary and God worked

  291. all these things out. This is the wisdom

  292. of God and all these things are in

  293. Christ. When did when did people begin

  294. to worship Jesus? Was it after his

  295. resurrection?

  296. You know, we have all the accounts in

  297. the gospels when when people worshiped

  298. him. That's what happened before that

  299. because you remember as we talked

  300. earlier the um the the the prostitutes

  301. they you know she washed his feet before

  302. uh his before he went to the cross. That

  303. was an act of worship.

  304. So Jesus was worshiped

  305. you know on the earth. He didn't say oh

  306. don't worship me. I'm not God. He did

  307. just the opposite. He said I am God. I

  308. am God in the flesh. So they worshiped

  309. him. But the first time Jesus was

  310. worshiped was not uh by the prostitute

  311. when she put the perfume on his feet.

  312. The first time Jesus was worshiped was

  313. over there in Bethlehem when he was

  314. born. Remember

  315. the three wise men came

  316. and what they brought gifts and they

  317. worshiped him. That's what the Bible

  318. says. So Jesus didn't become God after

  319. he died.

  320. Jesus didn't become God on the cross.

  321. Jesus didn't become God when, you know,

  322. when he walked on the water. He He was

  323. already God.

  324. That's what the word of God says. He

  325. already existed before the foundation of

  326. the of the world. That's the

  327. preexistence of Christ.

  328. He existed before he existed.

  329. And then God said, "I I think I'll

  330. become a man. I'll show you guys how to

  331. pay for your sin and I'll show you guys

  332. how to love. So that's the duty of the

  333. church now is for us not to get

  334. sidetracked with something else. The

  335. duty of the church is for us to preach

  336. this mystery which is in Christ.

  337. And that's what Paul says here in

  338. chapter 3:9

  339. to make all men see I was not born a

  340. Jew.

  341. I know some some Jews, you know that

  342. some of them are wonderful people,

  343. but I'm not a Jew. I'm a Gentile.

  344. So God sent Paul to the Gentiles. That's

  345. us people who had no idea who God was. I

  346. couldn't quote you. I couldn't have I

  347. couldn't have quoted one of the um ten

  348. commandments. Well, maybe I could have.

  349. But if you said, "God will save you if

  350. you can quote the Ten Commandments." I

  351. couldn't even do that.

  352. But I found out that I broke them all. I

  353. I did find that out. And I did find out

  354. that Christ, he fulfilled them all. And

  355. he came down here. He's a friend of

  356. sinners.

  357. So this great mystery that God became a

  358. man for a reason.

  359. and he existed before he came down here

  360. and he was worshiped when he got here by

  361. by the magi.

  362. That's this Christ that we have in the

  363. Bible. That's the son of God that we

  364. have here. That's he's a member of the

  365. trinity. And Paul says here in verse 9

  366. to make all men see what is the

  367. fellowship of the mystery which from the

  368. beginning of the ages has been hidden in

  369. God. you know, that's where that's where

  370. Jesus has been. He's been hidden in God

  371. and then, you know, revealed to us uh in

  372. these last days of the church. And and

  373. by the way, he created all things. We

  374. saw that this morning. So, not only did

  375. he did he preexist, not only was he God

  376. when he got here and he was God the

  377. whole time he was here and he's and he's

  378. God when he left here. He's seated at

  379. the right hand of the father and he's

  380. still God and he's going to come back

  381. and everything is going to answer to

  382. him. He's going to be above it all.

  383. That's what the Bible says in Christ

  384. Jesus.

  385. Um, and he's got the kingdom. And he

  386. says here to the intent now,

  387. principalities and powers in heavenly

  388. places might be known by the church, the

  389. manifold wisdom of God. So Christ is the

  390. manifold wisdom of God. He's the mystery

  391. of God. In him are where all the

  392. blessings are at. Now turn back to John

    John 20 chapter mention

  393. chapter 20.

  394. John

    John 20 chapter mention

  395. chapter 20.

  396. This was uh

  397. after his resurrection.

  398. But here's how the gospels leave us.

  399. You know, if anyone could have

  400. challenged Jesus deity,

  401. it should have been or could have been

  402. the apostles. I mean, they were with him

  403. day and night. Three and a half years.

  404. They saw everything there was to see of

  405. him.

  406. If anyone could have said, "Ah, he's

  407. just a man. Don't let him fool you." It

  408. would have been those guys. But no, it's

  409. just the opposite. Those guys said, "Oh,

  410. no.

  411. He is who he said he is."

  412. And old Thomas, old doubting Thomas,

  413. he's not doubting anymore.

  414. But here in John 20,

  415. you know the story. He wasn't there the

  416. first Sunday night and second Sunday

  417. night, he's there.

  418. And uh you know what he said?

  419. Lest I see

  420. in his hands. Verse 25.

  421. The other disciples therefore said unto

  422. him, we have seen the Lord.

  423. But he said unto them, "Except I see in

  424. his hands the print of the nails, and I

  425. put my finger into the print of the

  426. nails, and I thrust my hand into his

  427. side, I'm not going to believe."

  428. And after 8 days, again, the disciples

  429. were inside Thomas with them. Then came

  430. Jesus, the door being shut. Oh, he

  431. walked right through the door. Can't

  432. keep a glorified Jesus out if he wants

  433. in.

  434. You can't keep God out if he wants in.

  435. Only God can do this

  436. on this earth. And Jesus said, "Peace be

  437. unto you." He He didn't say, "Thomas,

  438. you idiot.

  439. Weren't you with me?

  440. See, did you see all these things?" No,

  441. he he doesn't say anything at all like

  442. that. He just says, "Peace be with you."

  443. He knows of our unbelief. He knows of

  444. our doubts. He knows

  445. um we need him.

  446. Thomas, reach here your finger. Behold

  447. my hands. Reach here your hand.

  448. Thrust it into my side. Be not faithless

  449. but believing. That's what we need to

  450. do. We need to believe Jesus.

  451. We need to believe in him for salvation.

  452. And it doesn't stop there. We just keep

  453. right on believing him and following him

  454. and studying his word and seeing that

  455. he's God. He's he he deserves

  456. us to follow him.

  457. And he says, "Because you have seen me,

  458. you have believed. Blessed are they who

  459. have not seen yet have believed." And

  460. that's that's all of us. So this is how

  461. Jesus leaves the apostles. You know,

  462. they're going, "My God, my Lord and my

  463. God." You know, they they saw him as he

  464. was resurrected.

  465. Turn to Acts chapter 3

    Acts 3 chapter mention

  466. and verse 12.

  467. Now, this is a this is a long chapter

  468. here,

  469. but the guys

  470. I'm glad we have what the apostles

  471. preached

  472. in the New Testament in the book of

  473. Acts. Without the book of Acts, we we

  474. just have to make assumption. Well, what

  475. did they do? What how did all this

  476. happen?

  477. But we have this account. This is this

  478. is the church history.

  479. It's the book of Acts. Covers about 30

  480. years, maybe longer from start to

  481. finish.

  482. But there's a lot here. There's a

  483. there's a lot that's not here. But we

  484. have, you know, these things so we might

  485. believe. That's what Paul says.

  486. So God has given these things that we

  487. might believe. Well, he here we have

  488. Peter's second sermon

  489. here in the book of Acts. You remember

  490. his first one.

  491. It was about a certain Messiah coming

  492. out of the grave.

  493. And now he's going to we've got another

  494. the same Messiah. He's come out of the

  495. grave.

  496. But look here how Peter ties it to the

  497. Old Testament.

  498. So that's what we need to do. This is

  499. greater. You know, we have all these

  500. great New Testament verses, but you

  501. know, these guys didn't have a New

  502. Testament to lay hold of yet. It was

  503. still in in uh it was still in progress.

  504. But Peter saw verse 12,

  505. and he said to the men, "You men of

  506. Israel, why marvel you you at this? Why

  507. you look so earnestly upon us?

  508. as we by our own power or holiness made

  509. this man walk.

  510. That was a miracle.

  511. Peter gets down now and talks about God

  512. and his word.

  513. And he says, "The God of Abraham, Isaac,

  514. Jacob, the God of our fathers has

  515. glorified his son Jesus."

  516. So Peter's saying, "I I spent three and

  517. a half years with him. Believe me when I

  518. tell you he is the son of God. He's the

  519. Messiah. He's the one we've been waiting

  520. on. He's the promised one.

  521. And then Peter ties it back to Abraham

  522. and Isaac and Jacob and those who went

  523. before him. And he says, "Whom we

  524. delivered up and denied in the presence

  525. of Pilate when he was determined to let

  526. him go. You denied the holy one and the

  527. just. That's Jesus.

  528. He Peter calls him the holy one. He

  529. lived with him three and a half years.

  530. Never saw any sin. Not one time.

  531. The holy one. The just one. And you

  532. desired a murderer to be granted unto

  533. you. What a trade.

  534. I He God should have sent us all to hell

  535. right there.

  536. We're taking a murderer over your son,

  537. God.

  538. God, thank God he's longsuffering. Thank

  539. God

  540. um he is gracious.

  541. And he says, "You killed the prince of

  542. life

  543. who God has raised from the dead of

  544. which we are witnesses." You see what

  545. Peter does?

  546. We witnessed the word of God being

  547. fulfilled. We saw We saw him do it.

  548. and his name through faith in his name

  549. has this man been made strong. So now

  550. he's back to faith. Now he's back to

  551. salvation.

  552. This is what uh Nicodemus didn't know.

  553. We must be born again.

  554. And he says, "Yay, the faith uh which is

  555. by him, he has given him this perfect

  556. soundness in the presence of you all.

  557. And now, brethren, I know that through

  558. ignorance you did it, as also did the

  559. rulers, the rulers. But those things

  560. which God before had shown by the mouth

  561. of all the prophets, see what Peter

  562. does, he's there in the Old Testament,

  563. all the messianic psalms,

  564. um

  565. you know, all the prophets, Moses,

  566. David,

  567. everyone pointed to Jesus.

  568. And then what Jesus do after he rose

  569. from the dead on the road to Emmas?

  570. He took them back to the psalms. He took

  571. them back um to the prophets. And it

  572. said, "Yeah, these things are written of

  573. me."

  574. And then he goes on to say here um

  575. that Christ should suffer and so be

  576. fulfilled. Now there's where they had

  577. the problem.

  578. They didn't want a savior to suffer.

  579. That means we got we have a sin problem.

  580. You know, they wanted a kingdom. They

  581. didn't want a savior. Well, we can't

  582. have a kingdom without a savior.

  583. Now we have a savior. Now we can have a

  584. kingdom.

  585. He's been ro he's been he's been risen

  586. from the dead. So that's, you know, what

  587. Paul's going to or excuse me, Peter's

  588. going to do here. Repent therefore and

  589. be converted that your sins may be

  590. blotted out. What?

  591. So that's why he died.

  592. So that's who he is. The son of God, the

  593. son Jesus, the one that we crucified,

  594. the holy one, the just one, the one we

  595. want to put our faith in.

  596. That's what Peter says here. When the

  597. times of refreshing shall come in the

  598. presence of the Lord, it's not over. You

  599. guys didn't Our unbelief cannot stop

  600. God's program.

  601. That Paul tells the Roman tells us in

  602. Roman, our unbelief can't stop God's

  603. program. Their unbelief, it didn't stop

  604. God's program. It just helped fulfill um

  605. some prophecies here.

  606. You know they he goes on he says and he

  607. shall send Jesus Christ

  608. who before was preached unto you. That

  609. was him. He was here. He was born in

  610. Bethlehem. He run all over Galilee. All

  611. the miracles that he did, all the

  612. messages that he preached, all the all

  613. the teaching, all the truth that he

  614. brought him is the one you guys

  615. crucified who the father must receive

  616. until the time of restitution.

  617. And he has spoken by the mouth of all

  618. his holy prophets since the age began.

  619. So here Peter says everyone in the Old

  620. Testament, it's him. That's him. That's

  621. him.

  622. Hear ye him. That's what happened on the

  623. mount of transfiguration.

  624. Peter wanted to build a couple boos,

  625. remember? And the father said, "No, this

  626. is my beloved son. Hear him." So now

  627. God's put everything in his son. Now,

  628. not that we should ignore those prophets

  629. and everything else, but we should know

  630. that all the prophets are pointing to

  631. Christ, the one we're blessed in, as

  632. Ephesians says.

  633. And he goes on here and he says, "Whom

  634. uh well, I'm sorry, verse 22." For Moses

  635. truly said to the fathers, "A prophet

  636. shall the Lord your God raise up unto

  637. you of your brethren." He's Peter's

  638. further reminding them

  639. of what the Bible said about Jesus of

  640. Nazareth.

  641. He he he was a Jew. Remember,

  642. God's going to bring the Messiah through

  643. the Jewish lineage. He's going to be a

  644. Jew. Don't you guys remember?

  645. It shall come to pass that every soul

  646. who will not hear the prophet shall be

  647. destroyed from among the people.

  648. So, not only is he is he the one the

  649. Messiah, but those who don't listen and

  650. those who won't uh hear him um as the

  651. prophet as the savior that God has sent

  652. to us are in serious trouble.

  653. Yay. And all the prophets from Samuel

  654. and all those that follow after many as

  655. were spoken have likewise foretold these

  656. days.

  657. So

  658. Peter says the whole Old Testament

  659. points to this what just happened back

  660. there in Jerusalem.

  661. You are the sons of the prophets and the

  662. covenants which God made with your

  663. fathers

  664. saying Abraham in thy seed will all

  665. kindreds of the earth be blessed.

  666. Another Bible verse

  667. and a good one. Gentiles, God said, "You

  668. Gentiles are going to be blessed

  669. because of my son. He's going to pay for

  670. your sin." And and I God says, "I'll

  671. make sure you know him because I'm going

  672. to send you my word and I'm going to

  673. send you the truth

  674. unto you." First, God having raised up

  675. his son

  676. sent him to bless you and turning you

  677. away from all of your iniquities. So,

  678. we're not in trouble with God for

  679. crucifying his son.

  680. You know, that's way back there. And

  681. yeah, we had something to do with it.

  682. The whole human race had something to do

  683. with it. It wasn't just the Romans. It

  684. wasn't just the Jews. It was the whole

  685. human race. Every one of us. Jesus had

  686. to die for our sins.

  687. Every one of us need a savior and a

  688. redeemer. All of us have iniquities.

  689. All of us have these problems here that

  690. he speaks of. And this person, Christ,

  691. that God sent um to take away our sins.

  692. It's it's all in him. He did it all.

  693. So that's what God has given us for the

  694. foundation of the church.

  695. That's what Paul told the Corinthians.

  696. That's the foundation that you were on.

  697. That's the foundation that we are on.

  698. We We don't want to leave this

  699. foundation

  700. that God sent his son

  701. to die for our sins according to the

  702. scriptures to redeem us to blot out our

  703. sins that we might have eternal life.

  704. and uh be blessed in in every way as he

  705. says there in verse 26.

  706. So turn over to chapter 4

  707. and verse 27

  708. Acts chapter 4.

    Acts 4 chapter mention

  709. So

  710. it's

  711. it is in whom we believe.

  712. That's this person Christ. That's this

  713. person came 2,000 years ago. Fulfilled

  714. all the Old Testament. Not all of them.

  715. He's still got a few to go.

  716. But don't you doubt he won't fulfill

  717. them all. all of his warnings and all of

  718. his promises, the good news, the bad

  719. news, everything Jesus said is going to

  720. come to pass. That's what Peter was

  721. telling them to get their attention. And

  722. here in chapter um

  723. here in chapter 4

  724. of Acts in verse 27.

  725. So again it's not what we believe it's

  726. in whom we believe. We believe in the

  727. son of God.

  728. We believe the fulfillment of these

  729. prophecies.

  730. He's not just a man.

  731. He's the God man.

  732. That's what the apostle saw. He come out

  733. of the grave and the things that he told

  734. him were true.

  735. And here in chapter 4 in verse 27,

  736. he says, "For a truth

  737. against the holy child Jesus,"

  738. you guys know who that is.

  739. who thou has anointed

  740. both Herod and Pontius Pilus with the

  741. nations and the people of Israel were

  742. gathered together. We are all there. All

  743. the sinners, we all played a part in

  744. crucifying him.

  745. But look what he calls him here. Look

  746. what Peter calls him.

  747. He's the holy one of a true, the holy

  748. child, Jesus who God anointed.

  749. Verse 28, to do whatever thy hand and

  750. thy counsel determined beforehand

  751. to be done. And now, Lord, behold their

  752. threatenings, and grant unto the

  753. servants with which boldnesses they may

  754. speak your words. Now, this this has

  755. gotten them in trouble

  756. because these

  757. who were the first people they witnessed

  758. to

  759. people who killed Jesus.

  760. Why? one of the reasons so we would know

  761. and we can know that even the people

  762. that physically killed Jesus can be

  763. saved.

  764. No, God didn't say no. God didn't say no

  765. one can be saved now because of what you

  766. did to my son or or or the Roman

  767. soldiers can't be saved or the Jews

  768. can't be saved who did this to my son.

  769. No, God says come. you know, even if you

  770. were the ones

  771. who killed my son. And some did.

  772. Remember the the soldiers and all those

  773. who were around, you know, some people

  774. believed

  775. uh the thief on the cross,

  776. he believed.

  777. So he everyone that was there said,

  778. "This is the son of God."

  779. after they saw him uh go through these

  780. great

  781. sufferings for us.

  782. But here Peter says that the the four

  783. count the determined council of God to

  784. be done. God said,

  785. "Yeah, my son's going to do this. You

  786. may not even know all about it. You may

  787. not understand it all now, but

  788. God determined for it to be done.

  789. And if God hadn't determined for it to

  790. be done, it wouldn't have got done,

  791. but he did and it did. And now we have a

  792. great salvation

  793. in the person and the work

  794. of the son of God.

  795. And it's God's counsel. Behold our

  796. threatenings and grant unto the servants

  797. that with boldness we may do what? Speak

  798. thy word.

  799. You know, that's what needs to happen

  800. when we

  801. um are asked about our God. When we're

  802. asked about our salvation, when we're

  803. asked about these things, this is uh

  804. this is very important. This is uh you

  805. know, this is the top of the tier here.

  806. We must speak the word

  807. like they did

  808. by stretching forth his hand to heal

  809. and that signs and wonders may be done

  810. by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

  811. And when they had prayed the place

  812. shook. When they were assembled together

  813. they were filled with the Holy Spirit

  814. and they spoke the word of God

  815. great boldness.

  816. So that's what it is to be born again.

  817. That's what it is to be an apostle of

  818. Jesus Christ during these days shortly

  819. after he was crucified.

  820. So they spoke the word to him to to them

  821. about uh these incredible things. And

  822. now if you will

  823. go back to chapter 4

  824. so we can make this determination.

  825. If everything's in Christ, if he did it

  826. all, he paid it all, all the blessings,

  827. everything is in him, if he blotted out

  828. sin, if he's if he's our savior, he's

  829. our redeemer, he's he's God.

  830. If all these things be true, then then

  831. we have to say this. Look in verse 12.

  832. of Acts 4:12.

    Acts 4:12

  833. Neither is there salvation in any other,

  834. for there is no other name under heaven

  835. given among men whereby we must be

  836. saved.

  837. We must be saved.

  838. And God has made a way. And that's that

  839. way is his son, his wonderful son. I'll

  840. turn over to chapter five.

  841. And you know that the the father, the

  842. son, and the holy spirit, they they are

  843. co-equal. There's nothing greater in the

  844. father and lesser in the son or or

  845. greater in the spirit and lesser in the

  846. father.

  847. That does not exist.

  848. They're God. They're perfect in every

  849. way. And here

  850. um we see that the that the Holy Spirit

  851. is holy. Here's a lesson for the church.

  852. In chapter 5:3,

  853. Acts 5:3, Peter said to Ananas,

    Acts 5:3

  854. "Why has Satan filled your heart to lie

  855. to the holy spirit to keep back part of

  856. the price of the land?" And you guys

  857. know the story. While it remained, he

  858. was not wasn't your own, and it was

  859. sold. And was it not in thy own power?

  860. Why hast thou conceived this thing in

  861. your heart? Thou hast not lied unto men,

  862. but unto God. So here

  863. Peter says, God is the spirit. You know,

  864. right after we see all these things

  865. about the father and the son, now Paul

  866. says here, Peter says here that they've

  867. lied to the holy spirit. who is God,

  868. you know, so the spirit is God as well.

  869. And we have all the

  870. we have all the verses in in John in the

  871. upper room. Pastor Jim looked at some of

  872. those this morning uh concerning the

  873. Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

  874. Now, turn over to the book of Hebrews,

    Hebrews 10 chapter mention

  875. chapter 10.

  876. Hebrews chapter 10,

    Hebrews 10 chapter mention

  877. God the Father has provided our

  878. salvation at great cost to him through

  879. his son.

  880. That's what this book says.

  881. So, you know, God is not he's not

  882. working on our redemption. He it's done.

  883. That's what Jesus said.

  884. It is finished. So, now we lack nothing.

  885. You know, yeah, we have we should obey

  886. you. They that love me, they will obey

  887. me. You love me, obey my word. That's a

  888. part of this. But we're not saved by

  889. obedience. We're saved by faith.

  890. And here in Hebrews

  891. in chapter 10

  892. verse 7,

  893. there are places in the Bible where

  894. there's

  895. God talk,

  896. God talking to God

  897. and we get we get a easedrop and we get

  898. a hear, you know, that's what happened

  899. in in um Psalm 22.

  900. My God and my God, why have you forsaken

  901. me?

  902. You know, Jesus said that very thing on

  903. the cross.

  904. So there we have some God talk. God

  905. talking to God. Well, here in Hebrews

  906. 10, we have some more God talk

  907. there in verse 7.

  908. Then said I,

  909. one of the members of the Trinity,

  910. one of the members of the Godhead,

  911. though I come in the volume

  912. of the book, it is written of me to do

  913. thy will God.

  914. So the word of God is the logos of God.

  915. You know, that's what he or excuse me,

  916. John chapter one said.

  917. talk more about that later.

  918. And he says above when he said

  919. sacrifice and offerings and burnt

  920. offerings for sin thou wouldest not

  921. neither had pleasure in them which were

  922. offered by the law. We couldn't be saved

  923. that way.

  924. Then said I, I come to do thy will God.

  925. There's more God talk.

  926. So God the Son said to God the Father,

  927. "I'll go do your will."

  928. You saw that verse as well in John 17

  929. this morning where Jesus said that very

  930. thing. I come to do your will.

  931. So God the Son come to do God the will,

  932. God the Father's will.

  933. And he took away the first that he could

  934. establish the second.

  935. Aren't you glad we're not under the law?

  936. couldn't save us. We're all go to hell

  937. without it.

  938. The law can save no one. It takes Christ

  939. to save us.

  940. Remember the the law was a school master

  941. to bring us to Christ.

  942. He's our savior and our redeemer. And

  943. then he says, "By which will we are

  944. sanctified through the offering of the

  945. body of Christ once." And you it says

  946. for all, but it's it's just a one-time

  947. event,

  948. never to be repeated. That's how perfect

  949. a sacrifice Christ was for our sins.

  950. Paid for them all.

  951. We don't have to go back and live when

  952. he did. Or he doesn't have to come up

  953. here and die fresh for us. That's what

  954. the end of the chapter says. We have

  955. forgiveness and we have it now.

  956. We don't even need a priest. like they

  957. did. We don't even need a tabernacle

  958. like they did.

  959. Every priest standing daily ministering

  960. and offering

  961. the same sacrifice which could never

  962. take away sin.

  963. That's that's that was the way it was.

  964. The Jews had to come back every year. Oh

  965. no, I messed up again. I got to go back.

  966. Oh no, I messed up again. I got to go

  967. back. Now we don't have to say, "Oh, I

  968. messed up again. I got to go back."

  969. Because all of our sins have been paid

  970. for.

  971. That's who Jesus is.

  972. I have a savior, complete and perfect

  973. redemption that he did and offered to

  974. me. That's what he says. By this man,

  975. he has offered one sacrifice for the

  976. sins forever sat down at the right hand

  977. of God. God's pretty pleased now.

  978. Not me

  979. in his son.

  980. I couldn't pay for my sin, but he did.

  981. And here's the here's the enemies from

  982. Psalm 110.

  983. He's not done. He's going to come back.

  984. This great Jesus is going to come back.

  985. And he's going to make uh enemies of

  986. foot the foottool of God's enemies.

  987. That's going to happen.

  988. And here he mentions the Holy Spirit.

  989. Four,

  990. verse 14, for by one offering he

  991. perfected forever them that are

  992. sanctified. You can't find a verse like

  993. that anywhere on this planet.

  994. What?

  995. Here it is in the word of God. For by

  996. one offering he perfected forever them

  997. that are sanctified.

  998. Blood of Jesus, work of Jesus. He's not

  999. a man. He was a man. is a man. He was

1000. more than that. He's he's God. God died

1001. for our sins. That's what Paul told the

1002. Ephesian church. You've been bl bought

1003. with the blood of God.

1004. And then the Holy Spirit is a witness

  1005. for to us

1006. so that our faith will stand not in the

1007. wisdom of men but in the power of God.

1008. You know, that's why we don't get

1009. rattled. That's why we don't get shaken

1010. because our faith rests in the power of

1011. God, in the word of God. I know what God

1012. did for me. I know what Jesus did for

1013. me. God's not going to undo this

  1014. ever.

1015. It's what he says forever.

1016. And the Holy Spirit's witnessed these

1017. things for us and assured us of these

1018. things. And here's that covenant.

1019. this covenant that I will make with

1020. them, sayeth the Lord, I will put my law

1021. in their heart and in their minds I will

1022. write it. So, here's a Gentile who has

1023. no idea what the law said. But now I

1024. have I I have Christ and I have the mind

1025. of Christ. I have the word of God. And

1026. he says here, "Your sins and iniquities

1027. will I remember no more. They're gone."

1028. What a perfect savior. What a perfect

  1029. sacrifice.

1030. Now where the the remission of sin is,

1031. there is no more offering

1032. for sin. So what should we do? Should we

1033. go back? Everybody head to Jerusalem.

1034. That'd be a cool place. We don't want to

  1035. go right now.

1036. We don't have to go back to Jerusalem at

  1037. all.

  1038. We have a church

1039. in Athens because of this, because of

1040. him, because of this great work.

1041. And we assemble here. And that's what

1042. Paul says, or I'm sorry, the writer of

1043. Hebrews says by a new and living way, we

  1044. don't have a temple.

  1045. Um, we don't have a tabernacle. We don't

1046. have an altar. We have a new and a

1047. living way which he consecrated for us

1048. through the veil. Remember that veil

1049. that ripped into? God did that. Not us.

  1050. God did that.

1051. Having a high priest over the house of

1052. God, let us draw near with a true heart

1053. in full assurance of faith. God says,

  1054. "Come on, you sinners.

1055. I want to show you who I am. I want to

1056. show you what I've done for you.

1057. And that's this great salvation we have.

1058. We He's perfected forever them that have

1059. been sanctified. God did this for us.

1060. This great gift. It's a gift. Not of

1061. works, lest any man should boast.

1062. And having our own hearts sprinkled from

1063. an evil conscience and our bodies washed

1064. with pure water, we still sin.

  1065. But someday we won't.

1066. Let us hold fast the profession of our

1067. faith. He's back to faith. How was all

1068. that's possible? You mean faith? Well, I

  1069. didn't say that.

  1070. God did.

1071. God says, "You believe me. You walk by

1072. faith. Without faith, it's impossible to

1073. please God. But with faith, it is

1074. possible to please God." And we put our

1075. faith in God's son. We put our faith in

1076. this great redemption that that's been

1077. promised. It's what he says. For

  1078. faithful, he's promised. It's not us,

  1079. it's him.

1080. Let us consider one another to love one

1081. another to good works. That's what we

1082. need to be doing here. Not forsaking the

1083. assembling of ourselves together as a

1084. manner of some is, but exhorting one

1085. another and so much more to see the day

1086. approaching. And boy is that day

  1087. approaching.

1088. But we're where we should be. We're with

1089. God. or in his church that his son died

1090. for and bled for. Here is where God um

1091. comes to to speak to our hearts and our

1092. minds uh and bring us hope and faith uh

1093. in these great things from his word as

  1094. we do assemble together.

  1095. Let's close in prayer.

1096. Father, we thank you for your word and

  1097. we thank you for

1098. this great salvation that you provided.

  1099. We've been blessed

1100. in heavenly places in your son.

1101. Thank you for that. Everything we need,

1102. Father, he's provided and our faith

1103. rests in him. and we've ceased from our

  1104. own works

1105. that we might rest in him. And we thank

1106. you in Jesus name. Amen.

1107. >> As we go from this place

1108. you more, trusting you more.

1109. May the power of your love and the light

1110. of your word shine to a sin darkened

1111. world as we go from this place.
