  1. And we've been doing a preaching series

  2. on great text of the Bible and going

  3. through the Old Testament and pick

  4. picking a text in the different books of

  5. the Bible as we go from Genesis on

  6. through the Old Testament. We're going

  7. to continue that series, but I also want

  8. to take a break from it because we've

  9. been 11 messages into that series and we

  10. intend to come back to it. But we're

  11. three. This is a couple more Sundays are

  12. going to be Easter.

  13. And there's another series I've been

  14. wanting to teach before the Lord Calls

  15. Me Home. And uh the series on the

  16. resurrection

  17. of Christ.

  18. And we've done different serieses like

  19. that, like on the different appearances

  20. of Christ when he arose from the dead,

  21. those kind of things, and different

  22. teachings on that. But this one's going

  23. to be a little different. We're going to

  24. we're going to go back

  25. uh clear to the Old Testament.

  26. We're going to put that the resurrection

  27. of deal with the resurrection of Christ

  28. and the resurrection doctrine of people

  29. and put it all together uh in a whole

  30. series. At least that's my goal. So, I

  31. hope you'll come back for that. So,

  32. we'll be doing that for a while and then

  33. we'll maybe go back to the other series

  34. and go back and forth and so forth and

  35. so on. And this is the great doctrine of

  36. Christianity,

  37. the great teachings of Christianity, who

  38. Jesus is and what he's done, right?

  39. These are the big things. These aren't

  40. minor things. These are things you and I

  41. should know backwards and forwards,

  42. inward and out.

  43. And so when it comes to who Jesus is, we

  44. should know that. We should know that

  45. solid. All everything that you can have

  46. in that doctrine, we should know it

  47. well. Know well what passages teach you

  48. who Jesus is, exactly who Jesus is, what

  49. he did on the cross, how we get saved.

  50. That's that's our business.

  51. So if we're going to give the gospel, we

  52. have to be clear about the gospel.

  53. Uh,

  54. somebody said, "If there's fog in the

  55. pulpit, there'll be a cloud in the pew."

  56. Well, if if you got a fog in your mind

  57. of clarity of certain truths, then you

  58. can't you can't transmit those truths to

  59. people you're discipling or ministering

  60. to.

  61. So, there's some things we need to be

  62. experts on. Can I say that? I mean,

  63. experts.

  64. We should be able to know the gospel,

  65. preach the gospel, defend the gospel

  66. from all comers.

  67. We should be able to know that who Jesus

  68. is and be clear clear on that great

  69. subject of the person and work of Jesus

  70. Christ

  71. and especially resurrection

  72. of Jesus Christ

  73. because that's the foundation for

  74. everything.

  75. That's the foundation for the whole

  76. Bible.

  77. That's the foundation for our faith

  78. is that he is risen from the dead.

  79. If that's not true, we can ignore all

  80. the rest.

  81. But since that true, we need to know all

  82. the rest

  83. and teach the whole council of God and

  84. spend and be spent for our risen savior.

  85. So I believe this is a major subject of

  86. the Bible. In fact, it's a major of the

  87. major subjects. It's right up there in

  88. the top of the major subjects.

  89. We should be able to defend the

  90. resurrection. We should be able to

  91. proclaim the resurrection. We should be

  92. able to teach the resurrection.

  93. And so I hope when we get done with this

  94. series, we'll all be more well informed

  95. on this subject. And not just well

  96. informed, but transformed

  97. by this subject.

  98. We're to seek the things that are above

  99. where Christ is

  100. the right hand of God.

  101. God wants us to look at our whole life

  102. in light of these things.

  103. So, this is our series and I'd like you

  104. to turn with me to Matthew 28.

  105. Matthew 28.

  106. In this particular series,

  107. my intention is to begin every message

  108. in this series

  109. with Matthew 28.

  110. We're not going to stay in Matthew 28.

  111. In fact, I'm going to the Old Testament

  112. today.

  113. We're going to start.

  114. We're going to start with the beginning.

  115. But I want to read Matthew 28:16.

    Matthew 28:16

  116. This is in Galilee.

  117. And get the context in your mind.

  118. Originally, Jesus appeared not in

  119. Galilee, but in Judea.

  120. He appeared in Jerusalem.

  121. in Judea. That's the south. Galile is in

  122. the north.

  123. But he told them Easter evening

  124. to go to Galilee and there appeared to

  125. you. So they knew they're going to see

  126. him up there. So a bunch of them took

  127. off for Galilee.

  128. That's where we are in chapter 28 and

  129. verse 16.

  130. Then the 11 disciples went away into

  131. Galilee. Remember Judas is dead.

  132. Then the 11 disciples went into Galilee

  133. into a mountain where Jesus had

  134. appointed them. This is this is an

  135. appointment that Jesus made.

  136. Many of the appearances of Jesus, there

  137. was no appointment. He didn't say, "I'm

  138. going to be at the tomb outside the tomb

  139. at 9:00."

  140. But this was an appointment where they

  141. knew where he was going to be, where he

  142. was going to appear. A lot of the

  143. appearings before this were all

  144. surprises.

  145. Now, think in your mind,

  146. you're going up to Galilee. Your

  147. family's up in Galilee. You have friends

  148. up in Galilee. You got other believers

  149. up in Galilee. What are you doing up

  150. here? Well, we're going to go see Jesus.

  151. He arose from the dead.

  152. Well, what do you think that would

  153. cause? Well, I'm coming, too.

  154. Don't miss that.

  155. My personal opinion, and I've worked

  156. this out chronologically, is that

  157. Jesus's appearance to over 500 at once

  158. corresponds with this appearance in

  159. Matthew 28.

  160. And so, and the other people that were

  161. there were other people that were there

  162. with the 11,

  163. but that's another study. So I believe

  164. that there were a whole bunch of people

  165. here besides the 11.

  166. So verse 16, then the 11 disciples went

  167. away into Galilee into a mountain where

  168. Jesus had appointed them. And when they

  169. saw him, they worshiped him.

  170. But some doubted.

  171. Now that might give you pause. Say,

  172. "Wait a minute. They saw him Easter

  173. morning. They saw him Easter afternoon.

  174. They saw him Easter evening." and

  175. doubting Thomas has been convinced.

  176. So why are people doubting here? They're

  177. not the same people.

  178. There are other people that are there

  179. with them. Now,

  180. I believe that that's probably the

  181. correct answer. The other part of the

  182. answer is that Jesus was in the distance

  183. because our English Bibles don't bring

  184. some of this out. In verse 18, it says

  185. Jesus came. It's really came up to. He

  186. was in the distance.

  187. So, he didn't scare everybody by

  188. appearing in the midst of 500 plus

  189. people and start a stampede.

  190. He was in the distance and let them get

  191. used to seeing him.

  192. And so in the beginning it says 17 they

  193. worshiped him especially those who had

  194. seen him before and knew he was going to

  195. appear there. But some doubted and who

  196. some might have said well I think that's

  197. him but it might not be. Let's wait and

  198. see. Or some said I don't know if that's

  199. him or not. Maybe the people were new

  200. and never seen him yet.

  201. And Jesus came up and spoke to them

  202. saying here here's what I want to

  203. emphasize. I want you to watch the word

  204. all. Will you do that for me? Watch the

  205. word all.

  206. And uh I had a I had a seminary

  207. professor said that all means all and

  208. that's all all means.

  209. But watch the word all.

  210. Verse 18. This is the risen Jo Lord

  211. Jesus Christ. He Jesus came and spoke to

  212. them saying all authority

  213. is given to me in heaven and in earth.

  214. That's the first all. Who has all

  215. authority? Government,

  216. the pope,

  217. the elder board of the church,

  218. the UN.

  219. >> Amen.

  220. All authority over every other

  221. authority,

  222. ecclesiastical,

  223. governmental,

  224. all authority.

  225. Whether it's the family or the

  226. government or the church, there is one

  227. who's over everything and everyone.

  228. There's nobody above him. There's nobody

  229. equal to him.

  230. >> Amen.

  231. >> He gets it all.

  232. And why shouldn't he? He's the one that

  233. went to the cross. He's the one that

  234. defeated Satan. He's the one that solved

  235. the biggest problem of the universe, the

  236. sin and death problem.

  237. All authority

  238. is given me in heaven and earth.

  239. That's the first law.

  240. Go you therefore and teach all nations.

  241. That's the second all.

  242. Now nations, we when we think of

  243. nations, we tend to think of

  244. geographical boundaries and political

  245. boundaries, but the the phrase here is

  246. all people groups is really what it

  247. means.

  248. So even if we get the gospel to every

  249. nation, it doesn't mean we've got it to

  250. every people group in those nations.

  251. Remember, they didn't have nations as we

  252. know it then. They had empires. They had

  253. city governments.

  254. So all the people groups, can I put it

  255. that way?

  256. And that's a little more uh intensive

  257. and extensive, isn't it?

  258. So all authority is given me in heaven

  259. and earth. Go you therefore and teach

  260. all nations, baptizing them in the name

  261. of the Father, the Son, and the Holy

  262. Spirit.

  263. teaching them to observe what?

  264. All things

  265. whatsoever I've commanded you.

  266. Now, this is very this is very

  267. important.

  268. No people group is to be ignored or left

  269. out.

  270. The commission from the risen ascended

  271. returning Lord Jesus Christ to his

  272. people is because of who I am and what

  273. I've done go.

  274. Now in the Old Testament evangelism was

  275. done differently.

  276. God would bless the Jews, Jewish nation,

  277. and other nations would see that

  278. blessing and they would come.

  279. Their responsibility in the Old

  280. Testament was to live on the family

  281. farm, uh serve their Lord, be fruitful

  282. and multiply, go to Jerusalem three

  283. times a year, worship in the temple, and

  284. be so blessed that other people would

  285. see you got something I don't have.

  286. That was Old Testament evangelism.

  287. It was a public evangelism. The n that

  288. they they were the light of of the of

  289. the world in that sense that people were

  290. expected to come like the queen of Sheba

  291. and other people.

  292. This is different.

  293. We don't wait for people to come.

  294. We go.

  295. Sometimes that may mean no go to another

  296. country. It might mean go across the

  297. street.

  298. It may be go to somebody in your family

  299. and get to know them better so you can

  300. have a relationship with them to

  301. minister to them.

  302. We're all supposed to go

  303. somewhere

  304. to someone.

  305. Go

  306. therefore and teach all nations.

  307. Now, I know you know this. There's three

  308. parts of the great commission. Number

  309. one is teach.

  310. People need content for their faith.

  311. People need to know who Jesus is, what

  312. he's done,

  313. what he's going to do, what the Bible

  314. is, what the Bible teaches.

  315. The teaching all nations is important.

  316. We need our job is to bring information.

  317. Our job is to proclaim about him.

  318. Teach all nations.

  319. After teaching and receiving the

  320. teaching by repentance and faith,

  321. baptizing them in the name of the

  322. Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, a

  323. clear passage for the triunity of God.

  324. But notice, they're taught before

  325. they're baptized.

  326. You don't baptize people that are

  327. ignorant of the Bible or don't even know

  328. the gospel or never even received the

  329. gospel. There's a ministry before

  330. baptism.

  331. And this is talking about water baptism.

  332. And that's a public confession of faith

  333. by those who've believed in Christ.

  334. But the teaching doesn't end

  335. after they're baptized.

  336. The teaching doesn't end. No. Now you're

  337. taught and you're baptized and you're

  338. good.

  339. Teaching continues.

  340. This is the third part. And this is the

  341. part where the local church is vitally

  342. involved and starting local churches is

  343. vitally involved

  344. because it's not enough to go evangelize

  345. and just give people John 3:16 or

    John 3:16

  346. whatever and done my job.

  347. I'm not saying that's wrong. I'm saying

  348. it's not enough.

  349. What this is talking about is churches

  350. need to be started and people have to be

  351. discipled

  352. because baptism is something a local

  353. church does.

  354. You get baptized, you get identified

  355. with Jesus and who he is, but you're

  356. also identified with the local church

  357. that baptizes you.

  358. So you if you're going to get baptized,

  359. you should get baptized by a church that

  360. teaches the Bible as correctly as they

  361. can, right?

  362. I wouldn't want to get baptized by a

  363. cult and say, "I've been baptized by the

  364. Jehovah Witnesses.

  365. I've been baptized by the Mormons." No,

  366. you if you b you're you are identified

  367. with who you are baptized by.

  368. And so baptism is a local church thing.

  369. Not that it saves you. It's to you only

  370. baptize the people who are already

  371. saved. But after you're saved and then

  372. you're you're taught and you're saved,

  373. you're baptized. And after you're

  374. baptized, you are discipled even more.

  375. You're discipled before you're baptized.

  376. You're taught and then you're discipled

  377. after you're baptized. And the

  378. discipleship after you're baptized is

  379. even more extensive than before.

  380. Teaching them to what?

  381. Observe all things.

  382. whatever I've commanded you.

  383. That's the third all.

  384. All all things.

  385. Dr. Witen was my professor in seminary.

  386. He wrote a little pamphlet on Matthew 28

  387. and he was the pamphlet basically said

  388. a lot of people fulfill the first two

  389. parts of the great commission but they

  390. ignore the third.

  391. There's people who've been saved, been

  392. baptized, but their church never takes

  393. them past kindergarten.

  394. They got a kindergarten level of Bible,

  395. Sunday school level. They don't know the

  396. Bible.

  397. They don't even know the books of the

  398. Bible. They don't even, some of them

  399. don't even know where to find a book in

  400. the Bible

  401. in America.

  402. That's the church's fault.

  403. Paul said, "I'm clear from the blood of

  404. all men, for I've not hesitated to

  405. declare to you the whole council of

  406. God." Say, "That's too intense. I need

  407. something less intense." No, you don't.

  408. You need to be saved. You need to be

  409. baptized. And then you need to get

  410. intense.

  411. So teaching them to observe all things

  412. that's lifetime

  413. whatsoever I've commanded you

  414. and lo I'm with you always even to the

  415. end of the age. The word always is the l

  416. forth all.

  417. I'm always with you wherever you go

  418. whatever you're doing.

  419. Others might not want this. Others may

  420. not accept this method,

  421. but I'm with you. I I'm with the ones

  422. that are doing this.

  423. So, there's intensity here.

  424. And so, who is it that's saying this?

  425. I'm coming back to this. Who is saying

  426. this?

  427. the resurrected

  428. incarnate God, Jesus Christ, who has all

  429. authority

  430. and wants us to teach all nations about

  431. all his commandments.

  432. So, the resurrection of Jesus Christ

  433. puts a lot on unsaved people.

  434. You going to remain in unbelief after

  435. this? Going to keep ignoring God after

  436. this?

  437. puts a lot of pressure on unsaved

  438. people,

  439. but it puts a lot of pressure on saved

  440. people, too, doesn't it? We got to get

  441. in business.

  442. And so this is so important a subject

  443. and when it comes to teaching all

  444. nations, we need to be emphasizing

  445. not just the books of the Bible and

  446. everything in the Bible and their themes

  447. and their authors and the main messages,

  448. but the teachings of the Bible and the

  449. main doctrines of the Bible. When you

  450. teach the Bible, it's always this. Keep

  451. the main thing the main thing, right?

  452. And so resurrection is a main thing.

  453. The subject of Jesus's resurrection is

  454. one of the most important facts in all

  455. the Bible.

  456. RA Tory said it's the Gibralar of

  457. Christian evidence and the Waterlue of

  458. all infidelity. It's a great statement.

  459. We don't argue about everything in the

  460. Bible.

  461. How many animals were on the ark or

  462. >> Don't argue with that.

  463. Get right to the resurrection. Did it

  464. happen or didn't?

  465. Let's talk about that. We could talk

  466. about all kinds of subjects. Get on the

  467. merger round of discussion on

  468. everything. No, let's just stop and stay

  469. with this.

  470. So

  471. with it with that in mind,

  472. I want to begin at the beginning.

  473. I want to go clear back to Genesis

  474. and I want us to think through all these

  475. things biblically.

  476. And so please go with me back to uh

  477. well before we go to Genesis, go to

  478. Colossians 1:16.

    Colossians 1:16

  479. Well, I'm going to start with 14. It's

  480. talking about Jesus. I'll go back to 13.

  481. who's delivered us 113 from the power of

  482. darkness and has translated us into the

  483. kingdom of his son or the son of his

  484. love

  485. in whom that's in whom Jesus the in whom

  486. there is Jesus the dear de dear son we

  487. have redemption through his blood even

  488. forgiveness of sins who is who's this

  489. person that uh brought us forgiveness of

  490. sins he's the image of the invisible god

  491. the firstborn of all creation

  492. And by him were all things created that

  493. are in heaven and that are in earth and

  494. that are under the earth, visible and

  495. invisible, whether they be thrones or

  496. dominions or principalities or powers.

  497. All things were created by him and for

  498. him. And he's before all things, and by

  499. him all things consist.

  500. That's how Paul teaches

  501. the Lord Jesus.

  502. He's the creator of everything.

  503. Nothing was created apart from Jesus.

  504. In the beginning, God created the

  505. heavens and the earth. Well, who's that

  506. God? It's the one God of the Bible, the

  507. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  508. It's the creator who died for the

  509. creature.

  510. Now, let's go back to Genesis chapter 1.

    Genesis 1 chapter mention

  511. The creation account.

  512. Genesis 1 and verse 26.

  513. And God said,

  514. "Let us make man in our image."

  515. What do you notice there? That's pretty

  516. obvious if you just aren't speed reading

  517. with a fan blowing the pages by.

  518. God's God's talking to himself.

  519. Let us

  520. make man

  521. in our image.

  522. There's one God, but there's a plurality

  523. in the Godhead.

  524. The creator we will find out later is

  525. father, son and holy spirit and Jesus is

  526. our creator.

  527. John chapter 1 verse 1-18 could not be

    John 1:1–18

  528. more clear.

  529. So the deity of God the son, the

  530. incarnation of God the son through the

  531. virgin birth, the death of God the son

  532. and the resurrection of God the son was

  533. planned

  534. before the world was created.

  535. This is the God talking to himself to

  536. create in Genesis 1:26.

    Genesis 1:26

  537. But there's a there's something that

  538. precedes this. We don't see it in

  539. Genesis, but we will.

  540. God planned to save human beings before

  541. there were any human beings to save.

  542. God planned to save you before God

  543. created this universe and the human

  544. race. There's an eternal plan behind it

  545. all.

  546. And we need to recognize that this plan

  547. was baked into the original plan. It's

  548. not some emergency matter.

  549. Oh, Adam and Eve ate the I fruit. I told

  550. him not to eat. What am I going to do

  551. now?

  552. I guess I'm going to have to go die for

  553. him now.

  554. The cross of Jesus Christ was planned

  555. before creation of the universe,

  556. before the fall of man. This is very

  557. important.

  558. God was not surprised.

  559. God was not surprised. There's an

  560. eternal plan behind it all.

  561. And before God

  562. mentions this in 26, before he said,

  563. "Let there be light." before any of

  564. these other things in Genesis 1:69, 111,

  565. 14, 20, and 24. As he created

  566. everything, before he planned to make

  567. anything, including man in his image,

  568. before he made man in his image, he

  569. planned to save mankind made in that

  570. image after they would fall.

  571. And he planned that the one who received

  572. them would return and rule and reign

  573. over them.

  574. Say, "How do you know that, pastor?

  575. This seems like the beginning to me.

  576. That in the beginning, God created the

  577. heavens and the earth. That's it. That's

  578. the beginning. There's nothing before

  579. that." Oh, yes, there is.

  580. There is something before that. That was

  581. the beginning of the universe, but it

  582. wasn't the beginning of the plan.

  583. There was a plan

  584. and Christian, you are part of that

  585. plan.

  586. I'm part of that plan. God had me in

  587. mind when he did all this.

  588. Okay. How do we know that? 1 Peter

    1 Peter 1:17

  589. chapter 1 verse 17.

  590. 1 Peter chapter 1

    1 Peter 1:17

  591. verse 17.

  592. One of the most precious things that

  593. Peter ever wrote.

  594. 1 Peter chapter 1 verse

    1 Peter 1 chapter mention

  595. I want to start

  596. Peter 1

  597. 17 to 21.

  598. Chapter 1 17- 21.

  599. Okay.

  600. Um,

  601. still in chapter 2. Excuse me. I got

  602. this thin 10 page Bible. It's hard for

  603. my old thumbs to

  604. them apart.

  605. Don't go to sleep. We'll get there.

  606. 1 Peter 1:17. And if you call on the

    1 Peter 1:17

  607. Father, who without respect to persons

  608. judges according to every man's work,

  609. past the time of your sojouring in fear.

  610. For as much as you know that you were

  611. not redeemed with corruptible things

  612. like silver and gold from your vain

  613. manner of life received by tradition of

  614. your fathers, but with the precious

  615. blood of Christ as a lamb without

  616. blemish and without spot. Now here it

  617. is. Say, "Well, I know all that." Did

  618. you read this?

  619. Who verily was fore orained

  620. before the foundation of the world.

  621. Before what?

  622. Foundation of the world. That's before

  623. Genesis 1:1.

    Genesis 1:1

  624. That's before in the beginning, God

  625. created the heavens and the earth.

  626. Before the foundation of the world, he

  627. was for ordained before the foundation

  628. of the world, but was manifest in these

  629. last times for you who by him do believe

  630. in God, who raised him from the dead and

  631. gave him glory, that your faith and hope

  632. might be in God.

  633. So there was a precation covenant

  634. between God the Father, God the Son, and

  635. God the Holy Spirit that God the Son

  636. would become incarnate and die.

  637. For the human beings that would sin,

  638. even though God told him not to sin,

  639. put him in a perfect world with no sin,

  640. put him in a perfect garden.

  641. You know, when when you build a

  642. building, you get a plan first, right?

  643. You better have an architect. Better

  644. have a plan.

  645. God had a plan.

  646. And this verse shows something of that

  647. plan.

  648. But this isn't the only one. Go with me

  649. to Revelation chapter 13

    Revelation 13 chapter mention

  650. and verse 8.

  651. But did you catch our verse in Peter?

  652. uh

  653. in verse 20 if the one with who shed his

  654. precious blood was for ordained before

  655. the foundation of the world.

  656. It was planned in a pre-creation

  657. covenant that God the Son would be the

  658. one to sacrifice himself on the cross of

  659. Cal.

  660. The serpent took Adam and Eve by

  661. surprise, but not God.

  662. Revelation 13.

  663. And I call your attention to verse 8.

  664. Revelation 13:8.

    Revelation 13:8

  665. And all this is speaking of the

  666. tribulation period and the antichrist

  667. and all the rest. And all that dwell on

  668. the earth shall worship him. That's the

  669. antichrist. Whose names are not written

  670. in the book of life? Of the lamb. Who's

  671. the lamb?

  672. Our Lord Jesus Christ. slain from the

  673. foundation

  674. of the world.

  675. Turn with me to Ephesians chapter 1.

    Ephesians 1 chapter mention

  676. Ephesians chapter 1.

    Ephesians 1 chapter mention

  677. So the death of Jesus was not plan B

  678. because plan A didn't work out. The

  679. death of Jesus was the plan in the

  680. beginning before God ever made anything.

  681. Before he ever said, "Let there be

  682. light."

  683. And so look with me in Ephesians chapter

    Ephesians 1 chapter mention

  684. 1 and verse three.

  685. Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord

  686. Jesus Christ, who's blessed us with

  687. spiritual blessings in heavenly places

  688. in Christ, according as he's chosen us

  689. in him before the foundation of the

  690. world, that we should be holy and

  691. without blame before him in love, having

  692. predestinated us unto the adoption of

  693. sons by Jesus Christ to himself,

  694. according to the good pleasure of his

  695. will, to the praise of the glory of his

  696. grace through which he's made us

  697. accepted in the beloved in whom we have

  698. what?

  699. Redemption

  700. through his blood,

  701. forgivingness of sins according to the

  702. riches of his grace. So our Lord planned

  703. to die. He planned to pay the highest

  704. price that could be paid for his

  705. creatures and he had purposes involved

  706. in that.

  707. One more passage here. Re Hebrews

    Hebrews 9 chapter mention

  708. chapter 9 and verse 14.

  709. Hebrews chapter 9

    Hebrews 9 chapter mention

  710. in verse 13.

  711. How much more shall the blood of Christ,

  712. who through the eternal spirit offered

  713. himself

  714. up to God, purge your conscience from

  715. dead works to serve the living God. And

  716. for this cause he's the mediator of the

  717. New Testament that by means of death for

  718. the redemption of the transgressions

  719. that were under the first testament they

  720. were called might receive the promise of

  721. eternal inheritance. This is kind of

  722. important. Jesus didn't die just for

  723. people in the first century

  724. and everything after that. He died for

  725. every sinner from the very beginning of

  726. time.

  727. That's what it's talking about. The Old

  728. Testament people didn't get saved by

  729. keeping the ten commandments. The Old

  730. Testament got saved through the cross of

  731. Calvary.

  732. >> So the blood went backwards and

  733. forwards.

  734. This is one of the passages there too in

  735. the Bible that clearly teach that. So

  736. now humans are created in the image of

  737. God, right? Animals are not

  738. humans are unique.

  739. uh animals are not created in the image

  740. of God. Therefore, God couldn't become a

  741. donkey or a cow or a pig or a anything

  742. like that. Nothing against animals.

  743. They're just not in God's image because

  744. man is made in the image of God. God is

  745. able to relate to them and deal with

  746. them because of that uniqueness that we

  747. have.

  748. And every person's made in the image of

  749. God according to Genesis.

  750. And so, um,

  751. it's important for us to know who we

  752. are. Now, let's go back to Genesis, if

  753. you would, please,

  754. chapter 1.

  755. Genesis chapter 1 verse 15.

    Genesis 1:15

  756. Excuse me. I mean three.

  757. No, I mean two.

  758. >> Wrote it down wrong. And then

  759. Genesis 2:15, the Lord God took the man

    Genesis 2:15

  760. and put him in the garden of Eden to

  761. till it and keep it. And the Lord God

  762. commanded the man, saying, "Of every

  763. tree of the garden, you may freely eat.

  764. Freely eat."

  765. But the tree, you don't have to ask.

  766. You just get it. You don't have to work

  767. for it.

  768. Just eat it. Every tree.

  769. So you don't have to live on a diet of

  770. oranges and oranges only or grapefruit

  771. or apples or pears only or apricots. You

  772. may freely eat every tree and every

  773. variety.

  774. But of the tree of the knowledge of good

  775. and evil shall you not eat of it.

  776. For in the day you eat thereof, you will

  777. surely die.

  778. Now let's do a hypothetical. What if

  779. Adam and Eve would have never eaten of

  780. the tree knowledge of good and evil?

  781. Then they would never have died.

  782. They'd still be here.

  783. And guess what?

  784. You and I wouldn't die.

  785. >> This is very interesting.

  786. >> Amen.

  787. We die physically not because of what we

  788. do but because of what Adam did.

  789. You can see that in Romans Romans

    Romans 5 chapter mention

  790. chapter 5.

  791. Now we got our own sins that we we

  792. deserve death for. But his his his work

  793. on our behalf in the garden messed us

  794. up.

  795. And so but God was very clear to Adam in

  796. the very beginning in the day you eat

  797. you will surely die. You will surely

  798. die.

  799. Don't do it, you'll die.

  800. So, we find that men, mankind in the

  801. person of Adam is responsible to God's

  802. authority and to be under his authority.

  803. And if he gets out from under that

  804. authority, there's a punishment and it's

  805. very severe.

  806. Now, I did all kinds of things in grade

  807. school. I got punished a lot. I wasn't

  808. like my wife. She never got spanked. I

  809. got spanked at least once a week.

  810. One other kind of punishments, put your

  811. nose on the clock. You stand on your

  812. heel on your on your toes and put your

  813. nose in the circle on the blackboard and

  814. you know all kinds of punishments

  815. because I did I I wasn't trying to be

  816. mean. I just tried to be liven things up

  817. a little bit

  818. and I deserved it all I got and more.

  819. But the punishment God says to to Adam

  820. is a very serious one. This is a death

  821. penalty.

  822. This is not a minor matter.

  823. This is death.

  824. Stay away from that tree,

  825. you won't die. Eat of that tree, you'll

  826. surely die.

  827. Guess what this teaches? Man is

  828. responsible to God's authority under his

  829. authority and his revealed word

  830. and will be held accountable for choices

  831. made.

  832. Adam kept that for a while and so did

  833. Eve and she knew all about it.

  834. But you know what happens if you go back

  835. in Genesis? You know what happens in

  836. chapter uh uh uh as we move through this

  837. particular section. If you move on to

  838. chapter three,

  839. notice

  840. um

  841. now the serpent was more subtle than any

  842. beast of the field which the Lord had

  843. made. And he said to the woman, "Yay,

  844. hath God said you'll not eat of every

  845. tree of the garden?"

  846. And the woman said, "Satan knows

  847. everything God's ever said to you.

  848. He knows every sermon you've ever heard.

  849. He's not omnisient. He's not omniresent,

  850. but he's got demons that listen and they

  851. know what you know and what you don't

  852. know."

  853. He was listening when God was speaking.

  854. And so he he uh

  855. starts a discussion with the woman. And

  856. the woman said to serpent, "We may eat

  857. of the fruit of the trees of the garden,

  858. but the fruit of the tree which is in

  859. the midst of the garden, God has said,

  860. you shall not eat it, neither touch it,

  861. lest you die." And the serpent said,

  862. "You'll not surely die." God says,

  863. "You'll die. I say you won't die."

  864. And then he went on, you know, all the

  865. rest of it.

  866. Now, Adam knew it. Eve knew it. Serpent

  867. knew it. God said, "You eat that tree,

  868. you're going to die."

  869. God says, "You'll die." The serpent

  870. says, "I say you'll not die."

  871. Think about this. In the Garden of Eden,

  872. originally, death was optional, not

  873. death was an optional thing in the

  874. future. It was something that didn't

  875. have to happen as far as

  876. their minds were, right? All we got to

  877. do is not eat of that tree

  878. and we'll live on forever.

  879. But when they ate, what happened? Death

  880. happened.

  881. Now, this is where it gets very

  882. interesting. It's kind of important to

  883. school oursel on this because when you

  884. talk about death in the Bible, there's

  885. three kinds of death, right?

  886. And then death starts to be defined when

  887. they get kicked out of the garden. Death

  888. is separation.

  889. The essence of death is separation.

  890. Spiritual death is separation from God.

  891. Physical death is a separation of your

  892. spirit from your body. Eternal

  893. separation is to be eternally separated

  894. from God.

  895. So there's three kinds of death

  896. here. Spiritual death is immediate.

  897. In verse six, when the woman saw that

  898. the tree was good for food, and that it

  899. was pleasant to the eyes, and the tree

  900. desired to make one wise, she took of

  901. the fruit thereof and did eat, and gave

  902. to her husband with her, and he did eat.

  903. And the eyes of them both were opened

  904. and they knew they were naked and they

  905. sewed fig leaves together and made

  906. themselves aprons. They never did that

  907. before.

  908. Now they're embarrassed.

  909. Now they know that there's a barrier.

  910. There's something between them and God.

  911. They lost their innocence and their

  912. intimacy with God. And so they started

  913. sewing fig leaves to cover their

  914. nakedness.

  915. And it says the eyes of them both were

  916. opened and they knew that they were

  917. naked and they sewed fig leaves together

  918. and made themselves aprons. Guess what

  919. all false religion is and false

  920. philosophy?

  921. Fig leaves.

  922. It's all is fig leaves.

  923. And they heard the voice of God walking

  924. in the garden in the cool of the day.

  925. And Adam and his wife hid themselves

  926. from the presence of the Lord among the

  927. trees of the garden. And God called to

  928. them, Adam, where are you? He said, 'I

  929. heard your voice in the garden and I was

  930. afraid because I was naked and I hid

  931. myself. And he said, who told you you

  932. were naked?

  933. Have you eaten of the tree wherever I

  934. commanded thee that you shouldn't eat?

  935. And now they pass Adam passes the buck

  936. to Eve and Eve passes the buck to the

  937. devil.

  938. And God doesn't accept any of that kind

  939. of activity.

  940. The woman said, the man said, "The woman

  941. you gave to me, she gave me the tree and

  942. I did eat."

  943. That was shiverous of him, wasn't it?

  944. And the Lord said to the woman, "What is

  945. it you've done?" And the woman said,

  946. "The serpent beg me and I eat." They all

  947. had an excuse.

  948. The Lord said to the serpent, "Because

  949. you've done this thing, you're cursed

  950. above all cattle, above every beast of

  951. the field, and on your belly you'll go

  952. and your dust you'll eat all the days of

  953. your life." In other words, you're going

  954. to lose your legs and now you have to

  955. crawl. Physical serpent and the

  956. spiritual serpent. And I'll put enmity

  957. between you and the woman, between your

  958. seed and his seed. And he'll bruise your

  959. head and you'll bruise his heel. And

  960. that is the key verse in the Bible,

  961. isn't it? This is the proto evangelical.

  962. This is the gospel to Adam and Eve. This

  963. is where God promises deliverance

  964. through the seed of the woman who is

  965. ultimately Jesus Christ. and a reversal

  966. of this horrible thing that they got

  967. themselves into.

  968. So death is punishment for disobedience.

  969. Adam knew it, Eve knew it, the serpent

  970. knew it. They questioned it and then

  971. death happened. Spiritual death happened

  972. right away.

  973. Physical death came to Adam 930 years

  974. later.

  975. You read Genesis

  976. chapter is it five whatever it is

  977. and yet because of Jesus Christ the seed

  978. of the woman God could forgive them both

  979. their sin and that's why God killed the

  980. two animals and clothe them with the

  981. coats of skin leaves don't cut it what

  982. you can do to cover your nakedness

  983. doesn't make it. You have to have

  984. something God prepared and God given and

  985. death has to take place so that you can

  986. be with me.

  987. It's either the animal's death or your

  988. death physically.

  989. So the animals died so Adam and Eve

  990. could live.

  991. And these are all fascinating verses,

  992. aren't they?

  993. They open up Christ died for our sins

  994. according to the scriptures. He was

  995. buried and rose again the third day

  996. according to the scriptures.

  997. See, if you don't understand death, you

  998. don't understand the work of Jesus on

  999. the cross. If you don't understand his

1000. work on the cross, you don't understand

1001. his resurrection, which Romans says he

1002. was raised again for our justification

1003. because of our justification. When Jesus

1004. came out of the grave, it meant your

1005. sins, my sins, the world's sins are paid

1006. for. He doesn't have to remain dead.

1007. You've been bought and paid for,

  1008. Christian.

  1009. And that's a precious thought.

1010. Now, turn with me back to Romans chapter

    Romans 15 chapter mention

  1011. 15. Excuse me, I'm sorry. Corinthians

  1012. 15.

1013. Paul thought all Paul thought all this

1014. through very deeply after he got saved

1015. and he realized my whole religion's been

1016. wrong on the way of salvation

1017. and uh began to understand things that

  1018. he didn't understand before.

1019. So, and remember the book of first

1020. Corinthians was written around 55 AD.

1021. That's 25 years after Jesus arose from

1022. the dead. Hope you all remember

1023. Corinthians was written before Matthew,

1024. Mark, Luke, and John. We said that many

  1025. times.

1026. The gospels were written after after the

1027. earlier epistles of Paul as far as date

  1028. of being written.

1029. They didn't need the gospels because

1030. they all knew all the stuff that Jesus

1031. said and did. You know, had to write it

1032. down as time went on.

1033. But in 1 Corinthians chapter

    1 Corinthians 15 chapter mention

  1034. 15

  1035. and verse 21,

1036. Paul says, "Now Christ is risen from the

1037. dead and become the first fruits of them

  1038. that slept.

1039. For since by man came death," that's

1040. Adam and Eve, "by man came also

1041. resurrection of the dead." That's Jesus.

1042. Verse 22, 15:22. For as in Adam all die,

1043. as in Adam all die, even so in Christ

1044. shall all be made alive.

1045. This is the doctrine of the first Adam

1046. and the last Adam. Right?

1047. The first Adam and the last Adam.

1048. It's very important for us to get that.

1049. Who was the first Adam? Adam in Genesis

1050. chapter three. Who's the last Adam?

  1051. Jesus Christ.

1052. Now, go with me to Romans 5

1053. if you would. I think many of you know

1054. this. Romans, the book of Romans appears

1055. before Corinthians in our Bible, but it

1056. was actually written two years after

1057. Corinthians. It was written in 57 AD.

1058. Roman. And so Paul's developing this

1059. more in Romans than when he just

  1060. mentions it in Corinthians.

  1061. Romans chapter 5:12.

1062. He's comparing the work of Adam and the

  1063. work of Jesus.

1064. Adam was not a private person.

1065. Jesus was not a private person. Adam is

1066. the federal head of the human race.

1067. Jesus is the head of the church.

1068. And I want you to watch the two Adams

  1069. here compared.

1070. Now I know one of the cultist, that

1071. Korean cultist, I can't think of who he

1072. is now or his name. He thinks that there

1073. he's the third Adam. Well, there's no

  1074. third atom.

1075. >> No third Adam. There's the first Adam

  1076. and the last Adam.

1077. But in Romans chapter 5:12, wherefore as

1078. by one man sin entered the world and

1079. death by sin, so death passed on all

1080. men. For all have sinned.

1081. S we've sinned because of Adam and in

1082. Adam because his sin is put to our

  1083. account.

1084. For until the law, sin was in the world,

1085. but sin's not imputed when there is no

1086. law. Nevertheless, death reigned from

1087. Adam to Moses, even over them that had

1088. not sinned after the similitude of

  1089. Adam's transgression. Who's the figure

1090. of him who was to come? Underline Adam

1091. is a figure of him who was to come.

  1092. What's the similitude of Adam's

1093. transgression? This is very important.

1094. Adam disobeyed a direct commandment.

1095. But people died from Adam to Moses who

1096. didn't have any direct commandments. The

  1097. Ten Commandments didn't come to Moses's

  1098. time.

  1099. Are you following me?

1100. So Paul's argument is the people before

1101. the flood were dying. They had their

1102. personal sins and iniquity was filling

1103. the earth. But people were dying

1104. physically because of what Adam did, not

1105. because of what they did.

1106. Now his arguments are tight. You're not

1107. saved because of what you do.

1108. You're saved because what Jesus did.

1109. So either you're united with Adam and

1110. his sin or you're united with Jesus and

1111. his death on the cross.

  1112. >> Amen.

  1113. >> That's it. There's no third alternative.

1114. And watch watch the one and the many.

1115. And the one is either Adam or Christ.

1116. And the many are us, the human race.

1117. Verse 15. But not as the offense. So

1118. also was the free gift. Circle. free

1119. gift. It's in here many times. Has

1120. nothing to do with your merit or your

1121. ability or anything you do be before

1122. you're saved after you're saved. But not

1123. as the offense. So is the free gift. For

1124. if through the offense of one, many are

1125. dead, much more by the grace of God and

1126. the gift of grace which is by one man

1127. Jesus Christ has abounded to many.

1128. Now one and the many is a philosophical

  1129. concept, but it's also a theological

  1130. concept. And that's what Paul's doing

  1131. here.

1132. And not as it was by one that sinned,

1133. that's Adam. So is the gift. There's

1134. that word gift again. For the judgment

1135. was by one to condemnation, that's Adam.

1136. But the free gift is of many offenses to

1137. justification. Jesus didn't just die for

1138. Adam's sin. He died for your sins and

  1139. mine.

  1140. It was many offenses.

  1141. Um

1142. verse 17, for by one man's offense,

1143. death reigned by one. much more they who

1144. receive abundance they have to receive

1145. it of grace and gift of righteousness

1146. shall reign in life by one Jesus Christ

1147. therefore by the offense of one that's

1148. Adam judgment came to all men to

1149. condemnation even so by the

1150. righteousness of one the free gift came

1151. on all men to justification of life

1152. that's all men who received the gift for

1153. as by one man's disobedience many were

1154. made sinners so by the obedience of one

1155. shall many be made righteous moreover

1156. the law entered that the offense might

1157. abound, but where sin abounded, grace

1158. did much more abound. That as sin

1159. reigned to death, even so might grace

1160. reign through righteousness to eternal

1161. life by Jesus Christ our Lord. To all

1162. the legalist of the world, God's not

  1163. looking at you.

1164. God's not counting up your good deeds.

1165. You're either with Adam or you're with

  1166. Jesus.

1167. All of us are with Adam in the

1168. beginning. We all need to be saved.

1169. Whether we're raised in a Christian home

1170. or good church or anything, everybody

1171. needs to be come to Christ individually

1172. and be saved individually. But we're not

1173. saved by our good works. We're not saved

1174. by anything we do or anything we don't

1175. do. We're only can be saved by what was

1176. done at the cross of Calvary.

  1177. Nothing could reverse this.

1178. Adam is a legal representative. He's the

1179. federal head of the human race. Humans

1180. aren't angels. angels stand or fall

1181. individually. The humans fell as a race

  1182. and uh

1183. so we all need saved

1184. and we can only be saved by Jesus. Add

1185. us Adam got us into trouble. Jesus gets

1186. us out. It's just that simple.

1187. He is a legal head of the

  1188. church, the new race.

1189. as Adam was the legal head of the old

  1190. race

1191. and that's why his resurrection

1192. is so important and that's why the good

1193. news needs to be proclaimed to all

1194. nations everywhere so they can hear it.

1195. So it's very very important.

1196. You know the Bible became an open book

1197. for Paul once he got saved.

1198. He started to understand things he never

  1199. understood as a Pharisee.

1200. You know every time I watch a movie

1201. which I've watched very few movies. I

1202. don't spend my time watching movies my

1203. whole life. But if I wa if I really like

1204. a movie and watch it the second or third

1205. time usually a western of some kind.

1206. I never saw that the first time.

1207. I never saw that the second time.

  1208. Well, how'd I miss that?

1209. And when you read the Bible, it's the

1210. same, right? I never saw that the first

  1211. time.

1212. I read the Bible all the way through. I

1213. never saw that. Maybe you're daydreaming

1214. that or maybe the phone rang or maybe

1215. you're meditating on something and read

1216. through something absent- mindedly. We

1217. need to read and reread and reread our

  1218. Bibles whole life, right?

1219. How many times have you read the Bible?

1220. You ought to be able to say, "I don't

  1221. know."

1222. You ought to be able to say, "I don't

1223. know, pastor. I've been reading it my

  1224. whole Christian life. I can't even

  1225. answer that question.

1226. Now, we need the Lord to open the

1227. scriptures to us as Jesus opened it up

1228. on the bay road just like the angel

1229. opened Jesus's tomb. Uh, and the the

1230. Jesus opened up the scriptures

1231. in Easter Sunday. There's an empty tomb,

  1232. there's a risen Christ, and there's an

  1233. open Bible.

1234. It's not just the tomb of Jesus that was

1235. open. The Bible was opened on Easter

  1236. Sunday.

  1237. and became clear.

1238. The open tomb is important, but so is

  1239. the open Bible.

1240. He's not here. He's risen is important.

1241. He's not in the tomb, but he is here and

1242. he's alive. That's what the Bible says.

  1243. That is important.

1244. He's not in the tomb of Joseph Arythea,

1245. but he is in the teachings of the Bible

  1246. from beginning to end.

1247. And either that's true or it's not.

1248. And in Romans, in Hebrews 10, it says,

1249. "The volume of the book, it is written

1250. of me to do your will, oh God."

  1251. Now,

  1252. um

  1253. there's a continuity

1254. that's very important as we move through

  1255. the scriptures.

1256. Back in Genesis 2:17, God said, "In the

    Genesis 2:17

1257. day you eat, you will die." It actually

1258. uses the day. You're not going to live

1259. 24 hours after this. The day you eat,

  1260. you'll die.

  1261. They died immediately spiritually.

1262. That's why they knew they were naked and

1263. they were afraid of God. People who are

1264. dead spiritually are afraid of God.

1265. Afraid of being seen by God.

1266. And both the Hebrew text and the Greek

1267. text are very clear. The day,

1268. in other words, death will be immediate

  1269. spiritual.

1270. It'll happen the same day you eat it.

1271. But then physical death will come and

1272. then eternal death will come. unless

  1273. there's an intervention.

1274. You know, they say if I'm not very

  1275. familiar with cyanide

  1276. pills, of course, I've never flown a U2

1277. plane and had cyanide in my pocket to

1278. eat if I'm getting ready to crash land

  1279. or something.

1280. But cyanide is often used in the spy

1281. movies and so forth. And what's it do?

1282. It stops the cells from using oxygen.

1283. And death comes in just a few seconds of

1284. inhaling a high dose of cyanide. A half

1285. a gram of ingested cyanide will kill an

  1286. 160 lb man.

  1287. Half a gram.

1288. It doesn't take a big sin to get the

  1289. human race.

  1290. When Adam died,

  1291. race died with him.

  1292. He killed us all.

  1293. You were born dead.

  1294. I was born dead.

1295. Even if we had Christian parents, be we

  1296. had spiritual death.

1297. Things would have been been lot quite

1298. different than they are if Adam and Eve

1299. had not eaten of the tree.

  1300. You know, human history

1301. could never have started. God had no

  1302. obligation to create.

1303. No obligation to create. Human history

1304. could have ended as soon as Adam and Eve

  1305. ate.

1306. That's it. Done with the human race. I'm

1307. going to go do something else. Told you

1308. not to do it. You did it.

  1309. Too bad for you.

1310. Human history could have gone on uh with

1311. humans forever in a state of being born

1312. dead. They could have been multiplying.

1313. More dead. More dead. More dead.

  1314. Everybody dying physically, everybody

1315. dying hypothetically. I suppose that

  1316. could happen.

  1317. But God intervened

1318. in a dying world. God intervened. God

1319. approaches. God speaks. God reveals. The

1320. seed of the woman will bruise the

1321. serpent's head. There is hope.

  1322. There's hope.

1323. And that hope comes from the seed of the

1324. woman who's also the son of God.

1325. So now let's trace this real. I know I'm

1326. over a little bit. Trace this just

1327. through Genesis just for a moment.

1328. God spared people who had no idea they

  1329. would be spared

1330. by the little Bible they had.

1331. there. They're all be fruitful and

1332. multiply and fill the earth, take

1333. dominion over it, then don't eat the

  1334. tree.

1335. You can eat all the trees, but not this

1336. one. That was their Bible. That was a

1337. pretty small Bible. And they that's all

1338. the Bible they had. That's all as far as

  1339. they knew.

1340. If the devil's wrong and God's right,

1341. we're dead doing this. Think about that.

1342. But we're going to chance it.

1343. Then think of the results of that as you

1344. go through Genesis. And by the time of

1345. Noah, wickedness is so great, God says

1346. it repents me that I've made man on the

  1347. earth.

  1348. I'm I'm sad that I made him.

1349. And people have all the they say the

1350. problem I I have a problem. How did God

1351. get all those animals on the ark? Well,

1352. my problem isn't that. My problem is how

1353. did Noah and his family get on the ark?

1354. How was there ever a saving of anybody?

  1355. And that was grace.

1356. And then you get to Genesis 9 and the

1357. rainbow and you get the to all the other

1358. countermeasures God makes at the Tower

  1359. of Babel scattering everybody

1360. because man is so depraved if he gets

1361. together it that depravity is going to

1362. multiply and multiply and multiply and

1363. degeneration is going to happen faster.

1364. You can't have all these people living

1365. together, interacting with each other,

1366. or it's just going to be Adam and Eve

1367. all over again on a greater scale. Not

1368. that we can repeat what they did, but we

  1369. can do like things.

1370. Now, that comes us back to Matthew

  1371. and Mark

  1372. and Luke.

  1373. Preach the gospel

  1374. to every creature.

  1375. That's Mark.

1376. As you go into all nations, teaching

1377. them, baptizing them in the name of the

1378. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And lo,

1379. I'm with you always, even to the end of

1380. the earth. Go everywhere, do everything

1381. to spread the resurrection. Why? Because

1382. it's the reversal of what happened in

  1383. the beginning.

1384. You know, I believe in the resurrection

  1385. not just because I believe there's

1386. strong evidence Jesus came out of the

1387. tomb. It's because the resurrection is

1388. an answer to the problem started in a

1389. religious book written before Jesus was

1390. born over several centuries and finished

1391. before he was born. And the problem

1392. began in the Garden of Eden. So what's

1393. the resurrection addressing? The sin

1394. problem and the death problem.

  1395. It's answering a problem that Genesis

  1396. reveals

  1397. and everybody knew about.

  1398. Well,

  1399. I I don't know if I'm making myself

1400. clear as I should, but I thank God for

1401. all the evidences of the resurrection of

1402. Jesus. But when I see what Jesus did

1403. after he rose from the dead and what he

  1404. commanded,

1405. we're dealing with an answer to the

1406. problem that everybody on this planet

  1407. needs.

1408. >> This is something worthy of God.

1409. He's not doing little things here. This

1410. is the whole human race

  1411. needs this message.

1412. And so may God help us to see it.

1413. and sense it. You know, horses are made

1414. to run, aren't they? Dogs are made to

1415. hunt. Birds are made to fly. Man was

1416. made to take dominion over the whole

  1417. earth.

  1418. He messed that up.

  1419. Mission work

1420. is to go to those who didn't get it done

1421. and are scattered around the world. And

1422. the whole point for me in Athens Bible

1423. Church in the five decades I've had the

1424. privilege of being here is to get the

1425. gospel not just to Athens. We want it to

1426. Athens and all the people here, but how

1427. many people outside of here?

1428. And I learned as I wanted to be a

1429. missionary to Asia as God changed my

1430. heart about those that business. I could

1431. probably reach better people who knew

1432. the language, knew the culture,

1433. understood the food and everything

1434. better than I could ever if I did it for

1435. over there. And God allowed that to

1436. happen for many, many years here. And

1437. God brings in our little town many

1438. people from many countries. We got a

  1439. gold mine here.

1440. We got an opportunity here.

1441. We don't have to go fly somewhere or

1442. live somewhere in a hard place and learn

1443. a language and learn a culture and and

1444. struggle to deal. We can minister to

1445. people who either know English or have

  1446. are learning English

1447. and they know their country and know

1448. their language better than we do.

1449. And we have an opportunity to have an

1450. impact through our missionaries that we

1451. support in other countries, but also

1452. through our local church and the

1453. ministries here, the Bible studies that

1454. are being taught and so forth and so on

1455. that different folks have in the church

1456. here. And I want to tell you something.

1457. What a heartexpanding life enlarging

  1458. fulfilling privilege we have.

1459. When my kids were my older three kids

1460. were small, on purpose we would take

  1461. them to vacation

  1462. in different places.

1463. We even took them to California and back

  1464. for three weeks.

1465. I wanted to enlarge their comfort zone.

1466. I wanted them to be comfortable living

1467. in other places besides Ohio.

1468. And I felt that was part of my parental

  1469. responsibility.

1470. And it's it it we we need to all enlarge

  1471. our comfort zone

1472. to relate to people different than

1473. ourselves. What's it mean? go into all

1474. the world and teach the god. It might

1475. mean go across the hall, go across the

1476. the uh uh the uh street and talk to

1477. somebody that you don't know their

1478. language and do a favor for them or try

1479. to get to know them. Give them a gospel

1480. track in their language. do something

  1481. like that.

1482. And so it also means that where

1483. regardless of a background of a person,

1484. regardless of their sins, regardless of

1485. their false ways of thinking or living,

1486. they can come to know the creator who

1487. made him and who died for him and rose

1488. again. Then that's good news.

  1489. >> Amen.

  1490. >> That's good news. We have a

  1491. responsibility.

1492. The the work of God does not cut the

  1493. cord of our responsibility

1494. to proclaim the news and other people to

  1495. believe that news.

1496. And so may God give us grace to do it.

1497. Father, as we come into your presence

  1498. this morning,

  1499. we

1500. we have a we have a great responsibility

1501. upon us as a a local church and as

  1502. individuals.

1503. Forgive us, Lord, when we forget why

  1504. we're here.

1505. Forgive us when we forget

1506. that we're created in Christ Jesus unto

1507. good works that God's before ordained

1508. that we should walk in them. And one of

  1509. those good works

  1510. is giving the gospel.

1511. Help us to be about your business.

1512. And we remember our Lord told us to do

  1513. this till he comes.

1514. And he also said, "Lo, I'm with you

1515. always, even to the end of the age. that

1516. wherever we are to God's presence and

1517. can count on his work

1518. on others behalf as well as our own in
