  1. here have a series on the major

  2. doctrines of the word of God.

  3. This morning we are going to look at the

  4. incarnation

  5. and the virgin birth

  6. of Christ.

  7. Let's start in the book of Isaiah

  8. this morning. Isaiah

  9. one of the great prophets

  10. had a lot to say about

  11. Christ and his kingdom.

  12. And here we're going to begin in Isaiah

    Isaiah 59 chapter mention

  13. chapter 59.

  14. We got to remember that

  15. the incarnation and the virgin birth

  16. that we're looking at this morning.

  17. Those are not

  18. the same thing.

  19. They're related. They go together, but

  20. they're not the same thing. It's like

  21. Jesus, his humanity and his deity,

  22. they're not the same thing, but they

  23. certainly go together.

  24. and the incarnation,

  25. the virgin birth are not the same.

  26. Incarnation, we're going to look at it

  27. here in a minute, but let's first begin

  28. this morning in Isaiah chapter 59.

    Isaiah 59 chapter mention

  29. And this section here is similar to what

  30. happens in revelation when John balls

  31. his eye or John weeps

  32. in heaven and

  33. no man could be found to open the

  34. scroll. And this is a similar point with

  35. the prophet Isaiah

  36. who can go

  37. and God says that he will go.

  38. So this section here is tied to the

  39. Messiah, tied to the incarnation, tied

  40. to um Jesus, tied to the our redeemer.

  41. And here in verse 16, he said, "And I

  42. saw there was no man and wondered that

  43. there was in no intercessor. Therefore,

  44. his arm brought salvation unto him and

  45. his righteousness sustained him."

  46. So the prophets in the Old Testament

  47. sometimes they create a you know an

  48. instance that we can see of the need.

  49. Job does that over and over. Who you

  50. know who's going to put their hand on me

  51. and God?

  52. Well, that's Jesus. And here Isaiah says

  53. a similar thing. Who is the man that's

  54. going to go?

  55. You know, we need an intercessor.

  56. And uh in verse 17,

  57. for he put on righteousness as a

  58. breastplate,

  59. and a helmet of salvation upon his head,

  60. and he put on the garments of vengeance,

  61. and his clothing was clad with zeal and

  62. a cloak, and according to the deeds, and

  63. according to uh to repay, then fury to

  64. his adversaries, and recompense to his

  65. enemies, to the coastlands, he will

  66. repay recompense. So we also have you

  67. know not only uh who can go but what he

  68. needs to do when he gets there

  69. and uh so the fear of the name of the

  70. Lord from the west

  71. is America in the Old Testament. Well

  72. there he says from the west.

  73. So the gospel made it all the way to

  74. America

  75. and it keeps going.

  76. And the glory from the rising of the sun

  77. when the enemy shall come like a flood,

  78. the spirit of the Lord shall lift up a

  79. standard against him and the redeemer

  80. shall come to Zion and to those who have

  81. turned from their transgression in

  82. Jacob, sayeth the Lord. So there is our

  83. precious redeemer. It's going to be God

  84. himself,

  85. not the spirit,

  86. uh, not the father. It's going to be God

  87. the Son is going to come. He's going to

  88. come specifically to Zion, specifically

  89. to Jacob.

  90. And as for me, this is my covenant with

  91. them, sayeth the Lord. So God, this is

  92. something God is going to do.

  93. You not something we ask him to do. It's

  94. something that he will do. and my spirit

  95. is with them, sayaeth the Lord. My

  96. spirit that is upon me, and my words

  97. which I have put in my mouth shall not

  98. depart out of my mouth. So it's a

  99. message as well.

  100. And this message is going to be a

  101. message about redemption

  102. and the son of God.

  103. And that shall not depart out of my

  104. mouth,

  105. nor out of the mouth of my seed, nor out

  106. of the mouth of my seed seeds. But it's

  107. going to go on for generations, sayeth

  108. the Lord, from henceforth and forever

  109. more. And then chapter 60 is about the

  110. kingdom age. Um, which we're not talking

  111. about today, but arise and shine your

  112. light and come for the glory of the Lord

  113. is risen upon thee. So in a great way,

  114. the glory of the Lord has risen upon us

  115. uh in the great incarnation

  116. of Jesus Christ. So scripture alone

  117. defends this. You know, we didn't, you

  118. know, the people can't look at us and

  119. say, "Oh, you guys are cuckoo for

  120. believing that God is your redeemer."

  121. Well, we might be cuckoo for believing

  122. that. That's what Corinthians says.

  123. We're fools for believing this, but here

  124. it is. where God said he is going to

  125. come forth and be both the message the

  126. messenger and have the covenant and be

  127. our redeemer come to Zion do all these

  128. great things and this is just a great

  129. mystery and and a great

  130. blessing

  131. uh that God has taken upon himself.

  132. Remember one of the psalms says who is

  133. the king of glory asked that question

  134. here we can say well who is the redeemer

  135. you know who who is going to do this

  136. well it's the son of god as verse 21

  137. tells us and the father has you know

  138. sent him he is the king of glory and he

  139. he resurrected

  140. and uh you know this is such a great

  141. event you know it could never be

  142. repeated

  143. the incarnation and the virgin birth

  144. and all the way to to what Christ did

  145. and who Christ is now. That's what

  146. Hebrews chapter 10 does. You know, this

    Hebrews 10 chapter mention

  147. once for all sacrifice

  148. and this once for all work of

  149. redemption, this once for all God

  150. becoming a man. And God is both the

  151. message and the messengers. It says here

  152. in verse

  153. uh 21, he and he alone.

  154. And you know, he's uh done a great work.

  155. And when he got here,

  156. remember John 7:46, no man ever spoke

    John 7:46

  157. like this man.

  158. And in Matthew 7:28, when Jesus ended

    Matthew 7:28

  159. these things, the people were astonished

  160. at his doctrine. Why? He wasn't like the

  161. scribes and the Pharisees. He spoke

  162. with authority.

  163. So we have both the message and the

  164. messenger

  165. promised here in the Old Testament. Now

  166. go to John chapter 1.

    John 1 chapter mention

  167. How can we talk about the incarnation

  168. without going here first?

  169. And John here, he deals with the

  170. incarnation and never mentions Mary.

  171. John deals with the incarnation, never

  172. talks about the virgin birth.

  173. You know, they're both important. They

  174. both happen, but the incarnation we have

  175. here. And and the word incarnation,

  176. it means um in the flesh.

  177. And we have it over here in in John

    John 1:14

  178. chapter 1 verse 14.

  179. And the word, remember, the word is God

  180. back there in verse one.

  181. Made flesh. There's our word. He was

  182. made flesh. There's the incarnation. And

  183. he dwelt among us. We beheld his glory

  184. as the glory of the only begotten of the

  185. father full of grace and truth. So

  186. that's

  187. who and whom he is. He is the word. He

  188. is um the son of God became a man in the

  189. flesh here as this verse is saying. It's

  190. and again it's God himself. Look back at

  191. verse one.

  192. In the beginning uh was the word and the

  193. word was with God and the word was or is

  194. God. So it's in the flesh here. This

  195. incarnation is none other than God

  196. himself.

  197. You remember how John starts his

  198. epistle? Don't turn there, but you can

  199. recall how he how John talks about

  200. handling the word of God.

  201. And that's who Christ is. He is the the

  202. incarnation. He is God himself. He He

  203. has no beginning. Here it says in the

  204. beginning he had no beginning.

  205. Uh did Christ the one who come in the

  206. flesh. And then we have to remember

  207. there are two two sides to him that we

  208. can't separate. We have God uh and we

  209. also have his humanity. His deity and

  210. his humanity. Those two are welded

  211. together

  212. uh here. And you know as far as being

  213. made

  214. uh he was made a man. That's what the

  215. Bible says. But he was not made god. He

  216. has always been God. He is eternal.

  217. We've been looking at some of those

  218. things in the Old Testament. So, you

  219. know, this this is a a very important

  220. thing. You know, it is hard for us to

  221. say, you know, one thing's more

  222. important than the other. Paul said to

  223. declare the whole council of God.

  224. But the incarnation, the virgin birth,

  225. the deity of Jesus and his humanity,

  226. these are very important things that we

  227. need to believe and believe.

  228. What he says over in chapter 1 verse 18

  229. there he says, "No man has seen God at

  230. any time. The only begotten of the

  231. father or excuse me who is in the bosom

  232. of the father has declared him." So

  233. there's a declaration here that that

  234. Jesus is God. So that's who we have

  235. here. Um

  236. and again, we need the whole council of

  237. God, but this is definitely something

  238. that, you know, we can't bend on this

  239. one. Can't give in on this one. Uh turn

  240. to John chapter 8.

    John 8 chapter mention

  241. John chapter 8.

    John 8 chapter mention

  242. And here's the reason why

  243. we can't bend on this one because this

  244. is what this is what the one who became

  245. flesh said.

  246. You know, we have words uh we have

  247. redlettered Bibles. I have a redlettered

  248. Bible. And this this is Jesus said this,

  249. not me. Jesus said this not uh somebody

  250. else, not a critic

  251. uh to him or to anything else. He said

  252. here in chapter 8 and verse 23, he said,

  253. "You are from beneath and I am from

  254. above."

  255. Well, he would have to be God to be from

  256. above. You are of this world. I am not

  257. of this world. I say therefore unto you

  258. that you're going to die in your sins.

  259. For if you believe not that I am,

  260. you'll die in your sins.

  261. So Jesus said that you have to we have

  262. to believe in the deity of Christ. We

  263. have to believe in the incarnation. We

  264. have to believe that God became a man

  265. for a specific per purpose here and he

  266. is talking about uh dying for our sins.

  267. And so there are people that deny the

  268. deity of Christ and it's to their own

  269. detriment because Jesus says you're

  270. going to you're going to die in your

  271. sins and go to hell if you don't believe

  272. that I am. He is definitely most

  273. definitely God. So this is a of great

  274. importance here for us. And you know, of

  275. all the doctrines of the Bible,

  276. you know, this is one of the ones that,

  277. you know, we need to understand and

  278. preach and stand for and, you know, uh,

  279. and if need be, be persecuted over. We

  280. can't give in on this. And, you know,

  281. it's it's like the game of chess.

  282. you know, you've got all those pieces

  283. out there and you know, all the other

  284. ones are important, but the most

  285. important one is your king, you know, so

  286. when it comes to the Bible, when it

  287. comes to what we know and what we

  288. understand about Jesus is he's God. We

  289. can't bend on that,

  290. you know. He is as he says he is. He is

  291. the great I am, you know, and and uh he

  292. deserves these things here that he says

  293. that he is uh and and he's proven over

  294. and over uh to them and to others that

  295. he is definitely God. That's why the

  296. Jews crucified him. He called himself

  297. God. Now, we have his genealogies. If

  298. you would turn over to Matthew chapter

    Matthew 1 chapter mention

  299. 1.

  300. Matthew chapter 1. And each each one of

    Matthew 1 chapter mention

  301. the gospels treat his genealogy

  302. a little differently and add add a

  303. little more to

  304. uh what is here. But his genealogy

  305. uh starts out the New Testament. And in

  306. in Matthew 1:1, that's what it says. the

    Matthew 1:1

  307. book

  308. of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the

  309. son of David and the son of Abraham. So,

  310. Matthew is very much interested in the

  311. king and his kingdom here, mentioning uh

  312. David and Abraham. And then Matthew, he

  313. lays it all out for us here in this this

  314. long chapter

  315. uh about Jesus until we get over, if you

  316. will, turn to verse 17.

  317. So all the generations from Abraham to

  318. David are 14 generations. From David

  319. until the carrying away of Babylon,

  320. 14 generations. And from the carrying

  321. away of Babylon to Christ are 14

  322. generations. So, Matthew gives us uh the

  323. genealogy of Jesus here and and traces

  324. it back to David so that we might see

  325. that there is going to be a throne. And

  326. uh Matthew mentions Joseph here uh you

  327. know as as Jesus' father.

  328. all these other men. Uh, and the way

  329. that this is written in the uh, Greek,

  330. the words that are used here by Matthew,

  331. it's it mentions so and so begott so and

  332. so and so and so begott so and so. You

  333. know, he does all that until it gets up

  334. to Jesus and then it says Joseph didn't

  335. begott Jesus. It didn't happen. He was

  336. begott

  337. another way. And if you'll turn over to

  338. chapter 3

  339. of

  340. I'm sorry. Yeah.

  341. Go to chapter 1 verse 23. We'll go to

  342. Luke here in a second. Look at this.

  343. Matthew 1:23.

    Matthew 1:23

  344. And And why was this? You know, what was

  345. the purpose of this? Well, the purposes

  346. of this was so that he would not receive

  347. the sin nature from his parents and from

  348. his dad that all these other men did uh

  349. down through this genealogy.

  350. And here in Matthew 1:23,

    Matthew 1:23

  351. behold, a virgin shall be with child and

  352. bring forth a son. So there's the virgin

  353. birth. I mean, how can we deny

  354. the virgin birth? How can we not believe

  355. in the virgin birth? Scripture says

  356. these things are so

  357. shall be with child and bring forth a

  358. son and you will call his name Emmanuel

  359. which is being interpreted God with us.

  360. So how can we what can we say about

  361. Jesus? He's God with us. God became a

  362. man. He was born of a virgin. He come

  363. through the lineage of David. He come

  364. through the lineage of Adam for a

  365. purpose and that purpose here uh is

  366. spoken of for us. Uh and then in verse

  367. 20 while he thought on these things

  368. behold angel of the Lord appeared unto

  369. him in a dream saying Joseph you son of

  370. David fear not and take unto thee Mary

  371. your wife what that which is conceived

  372. of her is of the Holy Spirit. So the

  373. genealogy over and over says so and so

  374. begott so and so begott so and so until

  375. it gets to Jesus. And then it says

  376. Joseph did not begot Jesus. The Holy

  377. Spirit begot Jesus.

  378. Now turn over to Luke chapter 1.

    Luke 1 chapter mention

  379. Luke 1.

  380. Dr. Luke gives us more on the birth and

  381. the death of Jesus and all the other

  382. gospels.

  383. And here we can see in Luke 1

  384. and verse 30.

  385. And the angel said unto her, "Fear not

  386. Mary, for you have found favor with

  387. God." But why did God do this? He picked

  388. Mary. He said he was going to send the

  389. redeemer through a virgin. That's what

  390. Isaiah

  391. says. And and here he's found the one.

  392. It's Mary. She found favor with God.

  393. It says so here in verse 30. And behold,

  394. you will conceive in your womb and bring

  395. forth a son. You will call his name

  396. Jesus.

  397. And although he's an infant, although uh

  398. you know, you've yet to give birth to

  399. him and when she did, she named him

  400. Jesus.

  401. But look what else is said of him here.

  402. He shall be great.

  403. He shall be called the son of the

  404. highest,

  405. and the Lord will give unto him the

  406. throne of his father David.

  407. He will reign over the house of Jacob

  408. forever and his kingdom there will be no

  409. end. So here we have David again and

  410. Jacob and Israel

  411. and the Messiah is born to Mary and he

  412. has a great purpose to bring forth this

  413. great the kingdom uh to his father. So

  414. you know Jesus is the seed of the woman

  415. here, the seed of Mary. And if we'll

  416. read on down through here, it says,

  417. "Mary said unto the angel, how can this

  418. be, seeing I know no man?" So, you know,

  419. again, back to what the Old Testament

  420. said, she was a virgin. And uh from the

  421. time of the, you know, her birth until

  422. the birth of Jesus, she was a virgin and

  423. remained a virgin.

  424. She said, "I don't know a man."

  425. And the or angel said unto her,

  426. "The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee,

  427. and the power of the highest." This is

  428. some of the greatest language in the

  429. Bible about this, the incarnation. This

  430. is just an incredible

  431. miracle

  432. that God would become a man. that God

  433. would become a man through Mary, that

  434. God would become a Jewish man,

  435. and that uh God the Father would hand

  436. off God the Son, and that he will

  437. overshadow thee. Therefore, the holy

  438. thing of thee, which born of thee is the

  439. son of God. He couldn't be a holy thing

  440. as he was of Joseph.

  441. So he's of the Holy Spirit, the the

  442. power of the highest from the highest uh

  443. elevated point that God is

  444. uh has come forth

  445. the son of God. So

  446. you know these things are all important

  447. for us to see as well as to to know that

  448. he was born sinless.

  449. He was born without a sin nature. He was

  450. born not of Joseph but of the Holy

  451. Spirit as it says here and of Mary. So

  452. these things are just so important for

  453. us to see. And as uh Luke says here,

  454. it's it's in the highest. The Holy

  455. Spirit come upon you and the power of

  456. the highest will overshadow thee.

  457. So, you know, Abraham begott Isaac and

  458. and and David begot Solomon and we have

  459. all those begats. But but when it comes

  460. to Jesus, we have to say the Holy Spirit

  461. begat Jesus just like the word of God

  462. says here for us. So the Holy Spirit

  463. gave this divine conception to Mary uh

  464. Jesus human parent

  465. and and he was he didn't become God.

  466. You say well then when did he become a

  467. man? Well he become a man on his

  468. birthday when Mary gave birth after nine

  469. months.

  470. He became a man but he never became God.

  471. He was always God. That's what this says

  472. from the highest.

  473. How can you miss it in verse 35?

  474. Jesus is God. He's the son of God. And

  475. he came to Mary

  476. uh and and uh was born of Mary. So he's

  477. free from the curse of Adam

  478. is Jesus. You know, he has no sin nature

  479. from Joseph. He has no sin nature uh

  480. from humanity and and a greater than

  481. than than men is here. And you know, he

  482. was free from sin. And you know, here

  483. here Jesus is he he created Mary, but

  484. he's in the womb of Mary. This is a

  485. great mystery.

  486. This just boggles your mind. But all the

  487. while we have to believe it. We have to

  488. try and understand it. We have to try

  489. and embrace it that the son of God

  490. became man here at this point. And God

  491. can't sin, you know. So here we have a

  492. sinless baby for the first time uh in

  493. the human race. So, you know, sin ruined

  494. everything else

  495. um in the garden

  496. and and it takes its toll on us. It

  497. takes its toll on everything. Sin takes

  498. its toll on everything, but sin does not

  499. take its toll on God.

  500. It won't ruin God. He's greater than

  501. these things.

  502. Schaeer said this. He said, "Since

  503. Christ is the same yesterday, today, and

  504. forever, if he could have sinned on

  505. earth, he could sin in heaven."

  506. So, help us understand this that he

  507. indeed is the son of God, the sinless

  508. son of God, the pure son of God, the

  509. holy son of God. And that's what the

  510. angels say here. That's what uh the

  511. testimony of the scriptures is. And um

  512. you know Jesus he he he was born

  513. in a manger just the way the word of God

  514. says. And you know he uh he had no sin

  515. nature like us. We're going to look at

  516. some of those things when we when we

  517. progress here as we study the son of God

  518. in our series. Turn to Luke chapter 2.

    Luke 2 chapter mention

  519. Both Joseph and Mary are of the lineage

  520. of David.

  521. You know that was when I when I read the

  522. Bible for the first time and understood

  523. tried to understand these genealogies

  524. and you know I was ready to say oh wow

  525. he he come through Mary through the

  526. genealogy of Mary but he also come

  527. through the genealogy of Joseph.

  528. You know, God is so great

  529. in keeping his promises.

  530. And you know, he he was a Jew. He was

  531. born a Jew.

  532. And as a Jew, he had a about four things

  533. that were going to mark his life.

  534. First one is circumcision.

  535. And you know, we saw that and we see

  536. that back in Leviticus 12. We have those

  537. four things back there in Leviticus 12.

  538. We have circumcision at 8 days. We have

  539. the presentation at 40 days. We have the

  540. confirmation at 12 years of age. And we

  541. have public service at 30 years of age.

  542. So those are all the things that Jesus

  543. would have been a part of uh being born

  544. uh to this nation

  545. uh as he was and as he is,

  546. you know. So the Jews knew what to do,

  547. you know, with the ba with the male

  548. baby. And we see that throughout the

  549. gospels here, if you will, look in Luke

    Luke 2 chapter mention

  550. chapter 2

  551. and verse 40.

  552. And the child grew and became strong in

  553. spirit, filled with wisdom, and the

  554. grace of God was upon him. you know, so

  555. he had, you know, he was uh he was 100%

  556. human like us. You know, we're we're

  557. made up of body, soul, and spirit. He

  558. had a body, soul, and spirit.

  559. Uh his was a little different. And the

  560. grace of God was upon him. His parents

  561. went to Jerusalem to the Passover. And

  562. and this is the great verse where he

  563. says down in verse 49, "How is it that

  564. you sought me? Know you not that I must

  565. be about my father's business." So

  566. he perfectly kept the law as a Jew. He

  567. perfectly

  568. uh did all the things the Levitical law

  569. required of a male. his parents uh did

  570. those things with him and for him and

  571. and he was a normal child for the you

  572. know as far as that goes and you know he

  573. he understood not the saying that was

  574. spoke of him and he grew in stature with

  575. men you know we have you know we have

  576. these verses so you know he he meets all

  577. of the qualifications

  578. you know for he's prophet priest and

  579. king and he meets all those

  580. qualifications. He's of the tribe of

  581. Judah. All the things the Old Testament

  582. says about him are true and are coming

  583. true. If you will turn back to chapter

  584. one of Luke,

  585. chapter one

  586. of Luke.

  587. And

  588. here the angel said, "Mary, you have

  589. found favor with God." So this is what

  590. and who Jesus is. He's he's the favor of

  591. God. You know, he he's what Isaiah said,

  592. the redeemer is coming. Um the one who

  593. is going to come and work out uh you

  594. know, this great plan of salvation

  595. is him. He's the son of Adam. He's the

  596. son of David. He's the son of Mary. And

  597. he's the son of God.

  598. You know, that's what the Bible

  599. proclaims.

  600. And we ask, well, did he know who he

  601. was? Oh, yeah. If you would turn over to

  602. John

    John 12 chapter mention

  603. chapter 12.

  604. He was not confused who he was, who he

  605. is. Everybody else is,

  606. but he's not.

  607. And in every area of his of his

  608. humanity, he was sinless.

  609. He lived 33 and a2 years. There was not

  610. a day, not a moment, not a month, not a

  611. week where he was not the sinless son of

  612. God.

  613. And here in John

  614. 12

  615. 27,

  616. we see here that he knew his purpose.

  617. Now is my soul troubled. Now, as we look

  618. at his humanity here, we get to see that

  619. he's troubled.

  620. You know, we have other verses where he

  621. wept, we have other verses where he

  622. cried uh and and we have other verses

  623. about, you know, his compassion on

  624. people.

  625. I mean, he was a man,

  626. the God man. But here he is troubled.

  627. And for what say I, Father, save me from

  628. this hour? But for this cause came I to

  629. this hour. Father glorify your name. So

  630. Jesus knew

  631. why he had come

  632. was to fulfill

  633. father's will in this great covenant

  634. that God has with humanity that he will

  635. send a savior and a redeemer to die for

  636. our sins. Turn over to chapter 11.

  637. We have a couple

  638. couple outstanding verses in John 11

  639. here that you know let us see his

  640. humanity. And one of them is here in

  641. verse uh 33. When Jesus therefore saw

  642. her weeping,

  643. the Jews also weeping who came with her.

  644. He groaned in his spirit and he was

  645. troubled. That's a man.

  646. And then he says, "Where have you laid

  647. him?"

  648. He said, "Come and see." And Jesus wept.

  649. Here we have God shedding tears. Here we

  650. have the son of God weeping at the tomb

  651. of Lazarus. And if you will remember,

  652. this is not the only time he wept. He

  653. wept over the city of Jerusalem

  654. there in Matthew 23 and in Luke as well.

  655. Turn over to John chapter

    John 13 chapter mention

  656. 13.

  657. John 13

    John 13:21

  658. verse 21.

  659. And Jesus thus said he was troubled in

  660. his spirit. So he as a man knew trouble

  661. in his spirit like like we do. Uh you

  662. know not knowing you know what the

  663. outcome might be. But he knows

  664. everything. saying, "Verily, verily, I

  665. say unto you, one of you is going to

  666. betray me."

  667. So, nobody ever loved us like Jesus to

  668. love the very one who is going to betray

  669. him.

  670. Look over in chapter 19.

  671. John 19.

  672. See how it works. John the gospel of

  673. John is about the deity of Christ and

  674. here we have some of the greatest verses

  675. on his humanity. You can't separate

  676. these things. And in John chapter 19

    John 19:30

  677. verse 30 and when Jesus therefore had

  678. received the vinegar he said it is

  679. finished he bowed his head and he gave

  680. up his spirit.

  681. So he had a spirit.

  682. He was like us.

  683. um a man, a human being, body, soul and

  684. spirit. He had a body, soul and spirit

  685. and here he gives up the spirit as it

  686. says and he dies. So

  687. you know there

  688. the Bible leaves no doubt about his

  689. humanity

  690. and and him identifying with us and in

  691. all of these things.

  692. Um one more turn back to John chapter 4.

    John 4 chapter mention

  693. Here

  694. we can pick up a couple.

  695. And in John chapter 4,

    John 4 chapter mention

  696. remember when he was tested by the devil

  697. says he was hungry, you know, so he he

  698. knew hunger as a man.

  699. And here in John chapter 4, we have a

    John 4 chapter mention

  700. couple here back to back in verse 6,

  701. John 4:6.

    John 4:6

  702. And here we see that

  703. Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore

  704. being weary with his journey. So there

  705. he is,

  706. you know, he's he's walked, you know,

  707. quite a ways uh thinking about that well

  708. and that water. So as a man, he he

  709. wearied from his journey. Verse seven,

  710. it says he's thirsty. The woman came and

  711. he said, "Give me to drink." He's

  712. thirsty. So Jesus was hungry. He He grew

  713. weary. He grew thirsty.

  714. He wept over Lazarus.

  715. He wept over Jerusalem.

  716. And he did these things for a reason.

  717. You know, his humanity

  718. that he became a man equipped him to

  719. overcome and to defeat God's enemies.

  720. And that's what Psalm 110 says.

  721. But turn to 1 Corinthians 15 where we

  722. see the fulfillment

  723. of Psalm 10.

  724. 1 Corinthians 15.

  725. Since the resurrection has happened,

  726. let all of God's enemies be put on

  727. notice.

  728. and verse 20. 1 Corinthians 15

  729. and verse 19. If in this life only we

  730. have hope in Christ, we of all men most

  731. miserable. Paul will admit to that. God

  732. will admit to that.

  733. But now as Christ risen from the dead

  734. and become the first fruits of them that

  735. slept. Now we have a great hope. And our

  736. great hope is a person.

  737. And since and since by man came death,

  738. by man came the resurrection of the

  739. dead. That's what Jesus did. You know,

  740. why did he become a man? For these

  741. reasons and many more.

  742. For as an Adam all die, even so Christ

  743. will all be made alive.

  744. And every man in his own order, Christ

  745. the first fruits, afterwards they that

  746. are Christ at his coming. And then shall

  747. come the end when he will have delivered

  748. up the kingdom to God, even the father,

  749. when we'll put down all rule, authority,

  750. and power. And that hasn't happened yet.

  751. We're waiting on that. You know, that's

  752. what we're waiting on, the rapture of

  753. the church. And after the rapture of the

  754. church, then he's going to come back and

  755. and uh defeat the rest of God's enemies,

  756. the last enemy that show and he will be

  757. reigning for he must reign. The Messiah

  758. has a reign. you know, this Jesus in the

  759. in the manger who was born of Mary uh so

  760. many years ago, he is going to reign

  761. according to the word of God. And he's

  762. going to destroy all of God's enemies.

  763. And the last one that is going to be

  764. destroyed is death.

  765. And then he is going to put all things

  766. under his feet. And when he says all

  767. things are put under him,

  768. it is manifest that he um is accepted

  769. who did put all things under him. And

  770. when all things shall be subdued unto

  771. him, then shall the son himself be

  772. subject and put him put all things under

  773. him that God

  774. not may but shall be all in all. He is

  775. all in all. the the one born over there

  776. in the manger who who come to the earth

  777. to do these great things for us and

  778. accomplish so great a salvation.

  779. I'll turn to first Timothy chapter 2.

    1 Timothy 2 chapter mention

  780. So while he was here, while he was a

  781. man, he learned some things. You know,

  782. he learned what it was like to be a man.

  783. He learned what it was like to stand at

  784. the tomb of Lazarus and weep. He He knew

  785. what it was like to stand at the well

  786. well and be weary and need a drink.

  787. So now he is able to help us in a

  788. greater way.

  789. That's what first Timothy says here.

  790. Go to chapter 2 and verse 5.

  791. 1 Timothy.

    1 Timothy 2 chapter mention

  792. Chapter 2 and verse 5.

  793. You say it's hard. If Jesus were just a

  794. man, how is a man going to judge the

  795. whole world?

  796. How's he going to raise the dead?

  797. Those things would be impossible if he

  798. weren't God.

  799. But he is God and they will happen. He's

  800. the one God sent here to accomplish his

  801. will.

  802. And here in verse five of chapter 2 of 1

  803. Timothy, there is one God. Not to read,

  804. father, son, and the spirit. There is

  805. one God and the mediator between God and

  806. man, the man Christ Jesus. Remember what

  807. Job said. Who's going to put his hand on

  808. me and God and intercede? Well, here's

  809. your answer.

  810. the great man Jesus Christ who come to

  811. the earth and gave himself a ransom for

  812. all to be testified in due time. And

  813. we're testing test testifying about him

  814. now.

  815. So this is the one who we saw in the Old

  816. Testament. Remember the theophanes and

  817. remember uh the verses back there. This

  818. is this is the one. and uh turn over to

  819. Colossians chapter 2.

    Colossians 2 chapter mention

  820. The New Testament has great things to

  821. say

  822. about the son of God,

  823. who he is and what he has done

  824. in Colossians chapter 2

    Colossians 2 chapter mention

  825. and verse 16.

  826. that we have to

  827. we celebrate this man. We celebrate this

  828. God man

  829. and all that he has done. That's what

  830. Hebrews chapter 10 says. It's him. You

    Hebrews 10 chapter mention

  831. know, God sent him.

  832. And you know, people miss this and they

  833. they they want to talk about food. They

  834. want to talk about drink. They want to

  835. talk about feast days, new moon,

  836. Sabbath. And Paul says here, they're all

  837. just things to come. They're a shadow.

  838. And the body is Christ. So now we have

  839. the real thing. We have the reality.

  840. And that reality is Jesus Christ.

  841. And Paul said back there in verse 8, you

  842. know that verse, beware lest any man

  843. spoil you through philosophy, vain

  844. deceit of the tradition of men, the

  845. rudiments of the world, and not after

  846. Christ. For in him dwells the fullness

  847. of the Godhead bodily, and you're

  848. complete in him. And you're complete in

  849. him who is the head

  850. of all principalities and powers. He's

  851. there. There's none higher. There's none

  852. greater

  853. than Jesus.

  854. Every knee will bow, including all those

  855. fallen angels, including Lucifer.

  856. And Jesus was sinless and holy and

  857. perfect and righteous and all those

  858. great things. And now we are

  859. uh because of his work and because God

  860. can put us in his son.

  861. So you know his birth,

  862. his humanity,

  863. he came into the world just like

  864. everyone else. He has human parents.

  865. He had a human family.

  866. And none of those

  867. interfered

  868. with his final uh accomplishment

  869. which was on the cross

  870. to die for our sins.

  871. So now we have a perfect sinless

  872. uh relationship

  873. with God through him. Now we still sin.

  874. We confess our sins,

  875. but this is what Christ has done for us

  876. because he is God. That's what Acts

  877. says. That the blood of God was shed for

  878. us. though he's eternal and whosoever

  879. will may come to him. So now God wants

  880. us to be like him. Turn to the book of

  881. Luke

    Luke 1 chapter mention

  882. chapter 1.

  883. Luke

  884. 1 one.

  885. Now we can say this

  886. and as Mary said, "My spirit rejoices in

  887. God,

  888. my savior."

  889. Well, that's who she saw

  890. back there in the manger. That's who she

  891. saw that she brought forth was uh the

  892. son of God, the perfect one, the savior

  893. of the world.

  894. And now he's going to have a reign. And

  895. we saw a little bit of that rain back

  896. there in in uh First Corinthians. Turn

  897. if you would

  898. to Isaiah 24.

  899. Isaiah 24

    Isaiah 24:23

  900. verse 23.

  901. Then the moon

  902. shall be confounded and the sun ashamed

  903. when the Lord of hosts, who is the Lord

  904. of hosts?

  905. It's none other than Jesus Christ, shall

  906. reign in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem

  907. and before his ancients

  908. gloriously.

  909. And then we have that kingdom age there

  910. in chapter 25. So the Bible specific

  911. where where Jesus is going to reign. Why

  912. was he born a Jew? He because he's going

  913. to reign in Jerusalem.

  914. You know these these things are of God.

  915. These are God's purposes and God's ways.

  916. Um now turn over to Acts chapter 10.

    Acts 10 chapter mention

  917. This reign

  918. is going to begin at some point and

  919. never end. And for those of you who have

  920. been born again, it's already started.

  921. He's reigning in our lives. And here in

  922. Acts chapter 10

    Acts 10 chapter mention

  923. and verse 36,

  924. don't miss

  925. this man. Don't miss this God man. Don't

  926. miss the son of God. Don't miss who

  927. Jesus is and what Jesus has done.

  928. You know, God God has done it all in

  929. him. Put everything in him. He is all in

  930. all as the Bible says

  931. back there in in first Corinthians and

  932. elsewhere. And here

  933. uh we have a similar thing in Acts

    Acts 13 chapter mention

  934. chapter 13.

  935. And now, not only is he on the at the

  936. right hand of God, not only is he

  937. interceding for us as our advocate and

  938. as our mediator

  939. here, we see he is Lord of all.

  940. He's uh every corner of the universe

  941. belongs to him.

  942. And verse 36, it says that the word

  943. which God sent unto the children of

  944. Israel,

  945. you see that the word there

  946. and Christ there and preaching there and

  947. God there and Israel there. All these

  948. things God did

  949. and he made Jesus Lord

  950. of all, overall,

  951. above all, there every knee will bow and

  952. every tongue will confess that Jesus is

  953. Christ.

  954. Now turn to Romans chapter 10.

    Romans 10 chapter mention

  955. That's what happens when you get saved

  956. and we find out my redeemer,

  957. my savior is God. Well, that makes him

  958. Lord as well.

  959. And here

  960. we have it. Romans chapter 10 and verse

    Romans 10 chapter mention

  961. 12, a similar statement. There is no

  962. difference between the Jew and the

  963. Greek. God didn't have to send a

  964. redeemer for the Jews and a redeemer for

  965. the Gentiles or a redeemer for the Jews

  966. and a redeemer for America.

  967. No, he sent one redeemer who um is Lord

  968. of all and accomplish these great

  969. things. There's no difference between

  970. Jew and Greek.

  971. We're all sinners. We all fall short of

  972. the glory of God. Paul said all those

  973. things earlier in this book,

  974. but now Paul says he's Lord of all, the

  975. same Lord over all and rich unto all

  976. that call upon his name. And here's the

  977. whosoever.

  978. Whosoever shall call upon the name of

  979. the Lord shall be saved. He's Lord of

  980. all. He can save to the uttermost or to

  981. the guttermost, whichever one you

  982. prefer.

  983. And he's reigning. He will reign. And as

  984. Isaiah said, who can go for us? And as

  985. and as Revelation says, who can go for

  986. us? And God has went for us. And if God

  987. be for us, who dare be against us? Turn

  988. the book of Revelation.

  989. and I'll quit.

  990. Revelation chapter 17.

    Revelation 17 chapter mention

  991. Now we say he's what? He's the King of

  992. Kings. He's the Lord of Lords.

  993. this little baby that came in the manger

  994. who um was given a body

  995. and who was the Holy Spirit who uh

  996. brought about the conception of the son

  997. of God. These things that we have read

  998. and now we see here in the at the end of

  999. the book of revelation the one who has

1000. been reigning and will reign who can go

1001. for us and God has went for us. So now

1002. we can say in Revelation 17 verse 14,

    Revelation 17:14

1003. these shall make war with the lamb and

1004. the lamb will overcome them. Why?

1005. For he is lord. He's the lord of lords,

1006. the king of kings and all those uh that

1007. are with him are called chosen and

1008. faithful. See what he's done for us.

1009. He's made us the chosen and faithful and

1010. we are with him. and he's the great

1011. overcomer, the great king of kings and

1012. lord of lords um that we are looking

1013. for. So Isaiah said prepare the way.

1014. John the Baptist said prepare the way.

1015. This is the very one that they were

1016. preparing the way for. He is the way,

1017. the truth, and the life. Let's pray.

  1018. Father

1019. Lord, we thank you for this day. We

1020. thank you for the word of God and

1021. brings us great joy and comfort to know

1022. that you have overcome our sin. You've

1023. overcome the world. You've overcome

1024. death. You've overcome our enemies.

1025. You've overcome everything that we might

1026. have eternal life in you. And we thank

1027. you for these things. this precious gift

1028. of eternal life. The wages of sin is

1029. death, but the gift of God is eternal

1030. life through Jesus Christ our Lord. And

1031. as humble as he was, meek as he was and

1032. is, he's the Lord of Lords and King of

1033. Kings. We thank you for him. We pray it

  1034. in Jesus name. Amen.

  1035. Listen.

1036. I don't know if you want these an

1037. offering plate or do you want to turn it

  1038. back to the office

1039. as we go from this place

  1040. loving you more

  1041. trusting you more.

1042. May the power of your love and the light

1043. of your word shine to a sin darkened

1044. world as we go from this
