  1. We're coming back to our series on great

  2. texts of the Bible, great texts of the

  3. Old Testament.

  4. And I'm going to bypass Ezra and

  5. Nehemiah since we spent an awful lot of

  6. time in those books fairly recently.

  7. Uh I'm not going to grab one from there,

  8. although we could do that. But I am

  9. going to go to the book of Esther.

  10. And I know we've all probably

  11. most of you people were with us when we

  12. talked through Esther, but I'd like you

  13. to uh turn with me to the book of

  14. Esther. And I'm assuming familiarity

  15. with

  16. this book,

  17. this wonderful book, 10 chapters

  18. of glorious,

  19. glorious text.

  20. I'm interested in Esther chapter 4.

    Esther 4 chapter mention

  21. And just to remind us of the main people

  22. that are involved here, Xerxes,

  23. also know as Hasawarius

  24. Hmon,

  25. we know who he is, an Amalachite.

  26. And we find that out, we immediately

  27. know that there's problems there.

  28. And of course there's Mori

  29. and Esther.

  30. Those four

  31. to round out

  32. and remind us of our of what we're

  33. dealing with here.

  34. And again

  35. assuming

  36. familiarity with this particular book of

  37. the Bible

  38. you remember that Mori offended Hmon

  39. and he wouldn't that Hmon had a very big

  40. ego and he was way too big for his

  41. britches as they put it and um uh but

  42. the king advanced him anyway

  43. and because of Mori's refusing to

  44. recognize that wicked man.

  45. Hmon didn't want to just kill him.

  46. He wanted to hang him on a gallows and

  47. but he wanted to kill all the Jews.

  48. Now talk about overreaction.

  49. That's a major overreaction, right? Uh

  50. it says something about the ego, the

  51. self-centerness

  52. and arrogance and pride of that wicked

  53. man.

  54. And but you know also the story about

  55. Esther and how

  56. uh she was taken into the uh herum of a

  57. Xerxes. Why? Because Queen Bashi was de

  58. demoted as queen

  59. uh because she wouldn't come in to the

  60. party the way the her husband wanted and

  61. so forth and so on.

  62. So there's a lot of interesting things

  63. here.

  64. A a terrible, terrible

  65. decision in the leadership of that

  66. country to advance somebody like Haymon

  67. and to sign off on the murder of all the

  68. Jews not only in the city of Susa, which

  69. is in Iran,

  70. but the whole empire.

  71. So this was a very big issue. We're in

  72. the book of Esther

  73. and the the the slaughter of all the

  74. Jews in the whole empire was on the

  75. agenda of Hmon.

  76. So with that review, we can't go through

  77. the whole book. We're not going to try

  78. to go through all the book. I'm assuming

  79. familiarity

  80. with this.

  81. We're going to look at Esther chapter 4.

    Esther 4 chapter mention

  82. in verse 13,

  83. Esther 4:13. And again, to prepare us

    Esther 4:13

  84. for the table of the Lord.

  85. And when we come to Esther 4:13,

    Esther 4:13

  86. Mori has just learned about the decree.

  87. He's in sackcloth and ashes, and he's

  88. gone to the herum and standing outside

  89. sending messages into his cousin.

  90. Esther that he's adopted.

  91. Verse 13.

  92. This is Mori's

  93. answer to Esther

  94. as he's trying to strengthen her to do

  95. the right thing.

  96. Verse 13. Then Mori commanded to answer

  97. Esther.

  98. Think not with thyself

  99. that thou shalt escape in the king's

  100. house more than all the Jews. Don't even

  101. think that just because you're queen.

  102. Remember, the king did not know Esther's

  103. genealogy. He didn't know her family. He

  104. that doesn't seem to be the kind of guy

  105. that cared about that. His mind was

  106. elsewhere.

  107. And uh Esther's identity was secret.

  108. And they told to Mori

  109. Esther's words. Oh, excuse me. I'm

  110. sorry. Verse 11.

  111. I'm I am I am sorry. I'm reading way up

  112. from where I need to read. Read verse

  113. 13. Verse 14. For if altogether you hold

  114. your peace at this time, then shall

  115. there be relief and deliverance rise to

  116. the Jews from another place. But thou

  117. and thy father's house shall be

  118. destroyed.

  119. Who knows whether you are come to the

  120. kingdom for such a time as this? I want

  121. to underline that last phrase.

  122. It's a question

  123. all of us number one have the

  124. opportunity to ask ourselves

  125. and answer for ourselves God's direction

  126. and revelation and purpose in our life.

  127. There's a providence that all of us

  128. experience

  129. at times in our lives

  130. that are is very interesting. It's a

  131. catalyst for a question like this. Why

  132. am I here?

  133. Who knows?

  134. What am I supposed to do?

  135. Why are things going the way they are?

  136. Am I the person that needs to do

  137. something at this moment?

  138. Who knows? And that who knows, uh, he

  139. admits I don't know. He admits you don't

  140. know

  141. that God's doing something.

  142. Who knows

  143. whether you are come to the kingdom that

  144. means become queen

  145. for such a time as this? She is the one

  146. that had access to the king in the way

  147. no other Jew did.

  148. We should all reflect on where we are in

  149. life.

  150. We should all reflect that God puts us

  151. at certain places with certain people to

  152. accomplish certain things. He places

  153. every member in the body as he will.

  154. Very interesting

  155. phrase there in 1 Corinthians 12.

  156. And I want us to reflect on that. I was

  157. teaching this in nursing home in

  158. preparation for this. And I wanted every

  159. person in the nursing home to understand

  160. you're here not just for yourself.

  161. you're here for some other purpose.

  162. And most of us, if we had a choice to

  163. make, would not choose to be in a

  164. nursing home.

  165. Can't think of anyone that really wants

  166. to be there

  167. or in a hospital

  168. or in a prison

  169. or

  170. in certain situations that were quite

  171. difficult and dangerous.

  172. But God's in control of everything. He

  173. runs everything.

  174. And we don't always know what he's

  175. doing.

  176. We're not always 100% sure about what

  177. he's doing with us and through us and in

  178. us.

  179. But this question is a great question.

  180. It's a big question. And all of us at

  181. certain times of our lives especially

  182. have time times to ask ourselves and

  183. even answer ourselves with God's

  184. direction and revelation

  185. what am I supposed to do and why am I

  186. here and what's going on at this

  187. particular time in my life.

  188. It this question calls for reflection.

  189. It calls for action.

  190. And it's kind of like in a baseball game

  191. when you're up to bat.

  192. You're sitting on the bench, you're up

  193. to bat. This is my turn to do something.

  194. I'm either going to strike out or I'm

  195. going to walk or I'm going to get a base

  196. hit. Maybe even

  197. second base

  198. or maybe more.

  199. We're off the bench. We're in the game.

  200. It's our turn.

  201. And that's why what that's what Morai

  202. felt about Esther.

  203. Esther, you're off the bench.

  204. You're up the bat.

  205. Get that bat off your shoulder.

  206. Understand why you are where you are

  207. where you are at this time.

  208. And God's providence sometimes puts us

  209. in a position where we can score

  210. we can make a contribution

  211. to the Lord's work in this world.

  212. So the question is who knows? Who knows?

  213. I don't know. You don't know. Who knows

  214. whether you are come to the kingdom for

  215. such a time as this? There's no

  216. accidents, Esther.

  217. You're a Jew. They don't know you're a

  218. Jew. I can't go to the king. No other

  219. Jew can go to the king.

  220. You're the only one.

  221. You got to think about that.

  222. And so the the big question is not

  223. something just for her. But all of us

  224. have an opportunity at special times in

  225. our lives especially to ask ourselves.

  226. Why am I here instead somewhere else?

  227. Why am I in this situation instead of

  228. some other situation?

  229. My life coaleses to a moment

  230. and a moment for action.

  231. And God provides

  232. puts us in a position where we can

  233. score, where we can contribute, where we

  234. can do something.

  235. So that's the first thing. It's the big

  236. question.

  237. And some have never asked theirel this

  238. question. They just go through life with

  239. not any reflection.

  240. And Esther may have been doing that. I

  241. don't think she wanted to be queen. What

  242. do you think?

  243. I don't think she wanted to get married

  244. to that guy. Who would want to be

  245. married to Xerxes?

  246. I mean, you look at him in chapter one

  247. and then you reflect on what chapter one

  248. they just lost a big battle to Greece.

  249. He's trying to, you know, there's not a

  250. lot about this guy that's very

  251. attractive.

  252. And so, she's kind of put in a situation

  253. she didn't really want to be in. I don't

  254. think they ask, "Would you like to be in

  255. the beauty contest?"

  256. No, you will be in this one.

  257. And so there she was. So the big

  258. question, all of us sooner or later in

  259. life have the certain opportunities

  260. designed for us ourselves. God is

  261. you are his workmanship created into

  262. Christ Jesus unto good works that God

  263. has ordained that we should walk in

  264. that.

  265. So if that's true, and I believe it is,

  266. our salvation happens so that we can do

  267. something for God and for others. And

  268. God's got a plan.

  269. So the first point is the big question.

  270. The second is the reflection, the big

  271. reflection on the total sovereignty of

  272. God.

  273. We all need to be engaged in that

  274. reflection for our own benefit and for

  275. the benefit of those we love and for the

  276. benefit of the accomplishment of our

  277. personal responsibility.

  278. And so the question was asked she

  279. reflects.

  280. She was scared. She was nervous.

  281. Obviously she was perplexed. And so he

  282. asked this question

  283. and u

  284. uh

  285. God there's God-given opportunities that

  286. often come unannounced and unexpected

  287. and frankly unwanted.

  288. You think Joseph wanted to be sold into

  289. slavery by his brothers?

  290. I don't get any indication that was his

  291. idea of a good thing.

  292. You think Moses wanted to be on the back

  293. side of the desert for 40 years of

  294. watching sheep?

  295. No, I don't think there was anything in

  296. that that was part of his plan.

  297. That was part of God's plan.

  298. So, first of all, there's this question

  299. all of us have an opportunity, necessity

  300. to ask ourselves and answer for

  301. ourselves under God's direction. Who

  302. knows where Athens Bible Church is in

  303. Athens, Ohio in 2026 in the summer for

  304. such a time as this, but we're here. God

  305. didn't put us here together to just do

  306. it. He's got something in mind.

  307. And Esther is not alone or unique in her

  308. experience or opportunity either in the

  309. Bible or in life. What is my place?

  310. What is my role?

  311. You know, if you're playing on a

  312. basketball team, am I a forward? Am I a

  313. center? Am I a guard?

  314. What's my position?

  315. If I'm playing defense, what's what's my

  316. position?

  317. So, what's my place? What's my role? I'm

  318. on a team. What position will should I

  319. play? What contribution can I make?

  320. Well, the coach is kind of in charge of

  321. that.

  322. But not just the coach, right?

  323. If you're a skinny kid, I don't think

  324. you're going to be playing on the line

  325. probably.

  326. You know, if you can't run, you're not

  327. going to be an end.

  328. So every I'm talking about football now.

  329. So God in his providence gives us

  330. certain bodies to do be able to do

  331. certain things. And then in his

  332. providence, he puts certain things in

  333. our path.

  334. in Abraham's life was there was a a

  335. circumscribed and uh choreographed

  336. history.

  337. You're going to be the father of many

  338. nations, but we got them things to work

  339. out to make that happen.

  340. And all the nation in you, all nations

  341. of the earth will be blessed. But

  342. there's a lot of that's got to happen

  343. first in you.

  344. And Abraham's son Isaac was uh his life

  345. was circumcised. Not circumcised,

  346. circumscribed.

  347. He was circumscribed. He was

  348. circumcised, but he was his life was

  349. circumscribed to be to live in a certain

  350. place and achieve a certain purpose as

  351. was Jacob's and as with Jacob's family.

  352. And the back to football, it's not up to

  353. the team who gets to be quarterback.

  354. It's not. Everyone's got their role to

  355. play. Everyone is good at some some

  356. particular part of that game that others

  357. are not.

  358. Not every soldier serves in every

  359. battle.

  360. Not everyone that serves is on the front

  361. line. Many are in the behind the lines.

  362. I think in World War II it took eight

  363. men behind the lines to put one man on

  364. the line.

  365. But that you know that's the army's

  366. choice not your choice.

  367. So we don't always know our role or our

  368. the particular part. It's way too

  369. complicated.

  370. It's way it it's it's uh God's program

  371. is tightly organized. There's a big

  372. picture but we don't always know the

  373. picture. We don't even have to know all

  374. the picture.

  375. We just have to be flexible and let the

  376. Lord do what he wants to do with us.

  377. Remember the background of this is

  378. Esther 3:8. And Hmon said to the king,

    Esther 3:8

  379. "There's a certain people scattered

  380. abroad and dispersed among the people

  381. and all the providence of your kingdom.

  382. Their laws are different from all

  383. people. Neither keep they the king's

  384. laws. Therefore, it's not the king's

  385. profit to tolerate them. If it please

  386. the king, let it be written that they

  387. may be destroyed."

  388. Get rid of

  389. and I'll pay 10,000 talents of silver to

  390. the hands of those who have the charge

  391. of the business to bring it to the

  392. king's treasures. King took his ring or

  393. from his hand, gave it to Hmon, the son

  394. of Hamadatha, the Agagite, the Jews

  395. enemy. And the king said to Hmon,

  396. "Silver is given to thee, the people

  397. also to do with them as it seems good to

  398. you."

  399. So that's what was going on. total

  400. annihilation, extermination of the

  401. Jewish people. That became the public

  402. pro policy of uh Persia.

  403. You see, this whole business in Iran has

  404. happened before.

  405. You almost feel like you're in an

  406. orchestra and you're hearing the theme

  407. and then it's coming back to the theme.

  408. You understand what I'm saying? History.

  409. There's a bigger picture

  410. and the policy was slaughter them all

  411. and appropriate their assets.

  412. Sadly, the public policy of current Iran

  413. is now back to this.

  414. The Egyptian policy was drown all the

  415. Jewish babies. That was the pol male

  416. babies. It was a birth control uh after

  417. the fact kind of policy. The antichrist

  418. at the end of history is going to go

  419. after the woman who gave birth to the

  420. baby. The woman is the Jewish nation.

  421. So we see these kind of things.

  422. We see them in the Bible.

  423. And I've said this so many times. If God

  424. were done with the Jews, as some think

  425. Satan would be done with them, but God's

  426. not done with them. That's why Satan's

  427. not done.

  428. Um,

  429. so we're back to our situation.

  430. What what the question in chapter 4:13

  431. is, there's no safety in silence.

  432. There's no safety in passivity.

  433. It's a time to be bold. It's a time to

  434. act. See your place in the world. You

  435. are in a place to do something.

  436. do it.

  437. It's no accident.

  438. It's no coincidence.

  439. It's a providence of God, a hard

  440. providence

  441. that you were drafted into the harum of

  442. Xerxes.

  443. And who knows?

  444. You don't. I don't. None of us know our

  445. place or our part in the larger larger

  446. matter of life.

  447. We may have a little part or we might

  448. have a big part at one point in our

  449. life. You don't know because sometimes

  450. it's the big things hang on a little

  451. thing.

  452. So this is fascinating.

  453. Now this Xerxes ran reigned for about 21

  454. years.

  455. He got into a war with Greece and lost

  456. and he's at the winter residence of the

  457. Persian kings. Some of them they some

  458. they had four different palaces ec

  459. ecbatan

  460. Babylon and pup prompilus

  461. and susa where this takes place we find

  462. in the book of Daniel was there in

  463. Daniel 8:2 Nehemiah was sent from there

    Daniel 8:2

  464. in Nehemiah 1:1

    Nehemiah 1:1

  465. and so all this is all kind of

  466. fascinating I love this part of the

  467. Bible history is very interesting to me

  468. the intricacies of it.

  469. But uh

  470. when it comes to Xerxes, he seemed to

  471. have been a better judge of quality

  472. women than quality men.

  473. I mean, he really saw quality.

  474. He saw quality in Esther above all the

  475. rest. Then he goes and picks Hmon

  476. to be the second most powerful person in

  477. the empire.

  478. He picks Esther

  479. out of all the other options. And he

  480. picks Hmon after all the other options.

  481. And he had seven men to consult,

  482. but they were just psychopants. They

  483. just told him what he wanted to hear.

  484. So he was really his own man except for

  485. God's providence.

  486. You know the good thing God's providence

  487. was in both picss.

  488. That's interesting to me. God had a

  489. purpose in the

  490. uh Esther being there and he had a

  491. purpose in Hmon being there and he

  492. brought that he brought this conflict

  493. together. He brought this situation

  494. together for his sovereign purposes. So

  495. the great question is asked, who knows?

  496. And the great reflection begins.

  497. None of us know.

  498. God knows.

  499. And all we have to do is submit to him.

  500. Whether we're Moses or Joseph or Abraham

  501. or David or Samson or Gideon or Paul in

  502. the New Testament.

  503. Um,

  504. think about what happens here.

  505. A young Jewish girl who lost both her

  506. parents, who's alone in the world except

  507. for her her elder cousin Mori

  508. becomes a tool to save a whole nation in

  509. danger

  510. of judgment. That's pretty big.

  511. So the question is asked and the

  512. reflection begins and the answer is

  513. given. This is dangerous.

  514. And you know she took it. She heard it.

  515. She reflected on it and she'd be willing

  516. to give her life

  517. to save her nation.

  518. She's certainly going to risk her life,

  519. but she's very probably or possibly

  520. going to lose her life in an effort to

  521. save her people. And she makes this

  522. decision and then she says, "Shakult

  523. shakali, if I perish, I perish. I'm

  524. going in

  525. going to the king.

  526. There's something more than my personal

  527. survival, more important

  528. uh than my earthly comfort or my

  529. longevity.

  530. I'm going to do my part.

  531. We're coming to July 4th in America.

  532. It's a big day, right?

  533. As we think about people who sacrificed

  534. for the Revolutionary War. There were

  535. many people that went broke. Million

  536. millionaires people we call they never

  537. got paid back from the government. They

  538. put their money into the project, save

  539. the country, get very little

  540. recognition. Others gave their lives.

  541. They felt it was worth it.

  542. And Esther did not know if she was going

  543. to be successful or not. She did not

  544. know if she were going to survive or

  545. not. She was willing to die for her

  546. people to live. She was not willing to

  547. live and see her people die.

  548. And in that, she's just like Jesus.

  549. She saw her nation under a sentence of

  550. death. And she saw herself as someone

  551. that could deal with it

  552. by God's providence.

  553. You and I got our place in the world.

  554. And as Paul said, I beseech you,

  555. brethren, by the mercies of God, present

  556. your bodies a living sacrifice. holy

  557. acceptable to the Lord which is your

  558. reasonable service. He died for you. You

  559. present your bodies to him to do

  560. whatever he wants. So the question is

  561. asked, the great question is asked. The

  562. great reflection begins. And then the

  563. great decision is made.

  564. I have decided to follow Jesus. No

  565. turning back. No turning back.

  566. No halting between two opinions as in

  567. the days of Elijah.

  568. And so in chapter 4 of Esther verse 15,

  569. Esther told them to return Morortei this

  570. answer. Go gather all together all the

  571. Jews who are present in Sushan and fast

  572. ye for me. Fast ye for means pray for

  573. me. Fast was to go along with the

  574. prayers and neither eat nor drink three

  575. days night or day. I also my maidens

  576. will fast likewise and I will go into

  577. the king.

  578. Remember the law was if the king didn't

  579. blow his scepter, you were killed. Even

  580. if you were his wife, he didn't accept

  581. you coming.

  582. And I'll go into the king, which is not

  583. according to the law. You had to be

  584. invited. If you're not invited, you

  585. don't go. If you're not invited and you

  586. show up, you can die. Just have being

  587. arrogant to show up. And if I perish, I

  588. perish.

  589. And so Moray went his way and did to all

  590. that Esther had commanded him.

  591. So in what we've been looking at is a

  592. really wonderful text. A great question

  593. is asked, a great reflection begins and

  594. a great decision is made.

  595. A great decision is made.

  596. And that brings us to our fourth and

  597. last point.

  598. A great celebration

  599. is initiated.

  600. Esther was successful.

  601. Hmon was executed.

  602. The Jews were saved.

  603. And if you go to Esther chapters 9 and

    Esther 9 chapter mention

  604. 10, a great holiday began.

  605. One for the Jews in the outside the

  606. city, others for one for the others

  607. inside the city. And it's called pareim

  608. pine.

  609. And lots

  610. the word pareim means a lot in ancient

  611. Persian.

  612. The casting of the lot.

  613. And and Esther was victorious over the

  614. enemies planning to destroy the nation.

  615. It was a fantastic thing. She saved the

  616. nation from extermination.

  617. There's someone else that saved the

  618. world from extermination. His name is

  619. Jesus.

  620. And

  621. what a fascinating business

  622. in the book of Esther. I just enjoy this

  623. book so much.

  624. Now, the holiday of Pereim is celebrated

  625. once a year to the Jews to this day.

  626. They celebrated this year in March 23rd

  627. of this year, 2026.

  628. And uh uh no, no, that's that's next

  629. year. This year was celebrated on March

  630. 2nd and 3rd.

  631. But behind all of this stuff is

  632. something very interesting. And

  633. everybody that's ever studied Esther

  634. knows this. God is sovereign, completely

  635. sovereign. He's assumed at every point

  636. He there at every point there's an

  637. assumption made uh but his name is never

  638. mentioned.

  639. God's name's never mentioned in this

  640. book that he's in everything every

  641. decision that's made.

  642. It's kind of fascinating.

  643. In fact, what happened the feast of

  644. Pereim is just the last of many feasts

  645. in this book.

  646. They they decided to celebrate this

  647. deliverance of the Jewish nation once a

  648. year and that's chapters 8 to 10.

  649. But did you know the whole out the whole

  650. book of Esther can be outlined by

  651. feasts.

  652. The NIV study Bible does that.

  653. It mentions 10 banquetss or 10 feasts in

  654. the book. the person that starts off

  655. with the feast of Xerxes in chapters 1

  656. and two and then the feast of Esther

  657. that's two and seven. Now the feast of

  658. Esther a little different it's just her

  659. the king and Hmon

  660. but then there's the feast of Pereim in

  661. chapters 8 to 10

  662. and those feasts are meant to celebrate

  663. the deliverance.

  664. There was no way they wanted to have the

  665. deliverance without celebrating the

  666. deliverance.

  667. And so that's a fascinating thing. The

  668. king's edict on behalf of the Jews is is

  669. brought out that they'd be saved in

  670. chapter 8. The initiation of the holiday

  671. of Pereim is brought about in chapter

  672. nine. And the promotion of Mori,

  673. he gets Hmon's job is chapter 10.

    Isaiah 10 chapter mention

  674. History

  675. has an interesting poetic

  676. justice to it.

  677. Most of us know about Joseph Stalin if

  678. we're old enough. He was still ruling

  679. Russia.

  680. He was uh he was a Russian communist

  681. leader. He had plans for dealing with

  682. the Jewish problem in the USSR.

  683. talking about 1950 there. He was talking

  684. about it. He was promoting it. He had

  685. plans to deal with the Jews and destroy

  686. them.

  687. Stalin was good at killing people. He

  688. people estimate

  689. that Stalin killed between 8 million and

  690. two million of his own people. Now, if

  691. you think communism is a good option,

  692. think about that.

  693. But he's he he got it in his crawl to uh

  694. persecute the Jews.

  695. And guess what happened?

  696. Stalin died.

  697. Crisis point came in 1953.

  698. The persecution was almost ready to

  699. start.

  700. and Stalin died on the holiday of Pereim

  701. in 1953.

  702. Does God have a sense of humor?

  703. Genesis 12 1-3 is still valid.

  704. So when we come to the last chapters of

  705. the book,

  706. the great the fourth point the great

  707. celebration is initiated

  708. and uh

  709. Kareem wasn't started because of a

  710. uh a madeup story

  711. like Goldilocks and the Three Bears or

  712. something.

  713. Kareeim was started because something

  714. happened in history

  715. that was so significant it should always

  716. be brought to remembrance and never

  717. forgotten.

  718. Something so significant it must be

  719. remembered publicly. It must be

  720. remembered and celebrated

  721. uh down through time.

  722. And isn't that just what the Lord's

  723. supper is?

  724. Isn't that what the communion table is

  725. all about?

  726. We're looking back not at some fictional

  727. story about some fictional people, about

  728. some fictional uh salvation.

  729. We were not there, but the Jews that

  730. celebrate it today weren't there. But

  731. they celebrate it because they know it

  732. was something to celebrate. It was real.

  733. And we celebrate the Lord's supper. Why?

  734. Because we know. We know.

  735. We celebrate

  736. the death of on the cross of our Lord

  737. Jesus Christ.

  738. The way they celebrated

  739. Perim and the way they celebrated

  740. Passover.

  741. So, we come to the Lord's supper to uh

  742. realize that we have a great blessing

  743. that's come our way.

  744. It's not just happened for one

  745. generation's sake.

  746. It's something that needs to be

  747. celebrated down through time and will be

  748. celebrated

  749. all through eternity.

  750. the acts of the triune God on behalf of

  751. his people by his infinite grace

  752. and wonderful redemption.

  753. Father, help us now to enter into the

  754. Lord's supper

  755. with the reverent enthusiasm

  756. of those

  757. who cannot ignore

  758. could not

  759. forget

  760. what our God has done for us.

  761. God was in Christ reconciling the world

  762. for himself.

  763. And he who knew no sin was made to be

  764. sin for us that we might be made right

  765. the righteousness of God in him.

  766. May we stand up for our savior.

  767. May we stand up for his people.

  768. May we stand up for his

  769. cause.

  770. in a world that hasn't changed since

  771. Hmon.

  772. Help us to be bold.

  773. Help us to be brave.

  774. Help us to be quietly courageous.

  775. And whatever time left we have on this

  776. planet,

  777. may we not just with our lips

  778. take the cup and the bread

  779. with our lives

  780. show our love for a savior who died for

  781. us and rose again

  782. in Jesus name.

  783. >> Amen.

  784. Lord, as we go from this place,

  785. loving you more,

  786. trusting you more.

  787. May the power of your love and the light

  788. of your word shine well to a sin

  789. darkened world.

  790. As we go from this
