  1. been going through a sound doctrine

  2. series.

  3. We've been looking at the godhead

  4. uh individually, but we can't

  5. we can't do that. We have to look at

  6. them as united, the father, son, the

  7. holy spirit. We don't have three gods.

  8. We only have one.

  9. And as we look at the godhead, we've

  10. seen

  11. things specific to the father,

  12. specific to the son and specific

  13. to the holy spirit.

  14. And um it's been good to look at God, at

  15. least for me, I think

  16. that helps us with everything else. If

  17. we look at God, if we don't have a great

  18. God, then things become impossible. But

  19. if we see our great God, then with him

  20. all things are possible.

  21. Open your Bibles if you would to Luke

    Luke 19 chapter mention

  22. chapter 19.

  23. We've been looking at the decrees of

  24. God. Last week was kind of an

  25. introduction to that. And uh this

  26. morning I want to look at they they fall

  27. into four basic categories. the decrees

  28. of God. You probably already know this.

  29. You just didn't know. There were all

  30. categories, but we have creation. We're

  31. going to look at that this morning. And

  32. and those that are geared toward the

  33. children of God.

  34. You know, God God created a world. He

  35. said he'd take care of it. God created

  36. man. He said he would take care of us.

  37. So, those are two great decrees that

  38. we're going to look at at this morning.

  39. And, you know, we uh I want to start in

  40. Luke so we can see in chapter 19.

  41. You know, there were times that Jesus

  42. would say, you know, hey, this is going

  43. to come to pass. You know, he'd remind

  44. his apostles, you know, how many things

  45. had they seen, you know, and heard from

  46. him. But he would say, "Hey, you know,

  47. this is going to come to pass." And

  48. that's what he did with the cross. And

  49. you know, even the apostles struggled

  50. with that. You know, Peter got a hold of

  51. him and rebuked him and said, "Not so,

  52. Lord." You know, so sometimes when God

  53. makes a decree or he says something, um,

  54. you know, they're not always creature

  55. comfort comfortable, you know. So, we

  56. got to listen to God and know what he

  57. says. And when he says something is

  58. going to come to pass, then you know

  59. that we say, you know, we agree to that

  60. because we're believers. You know, we

  61. know that we study the word of God. And

  62. here in Luke chapter 19, here was here

    Luke 19 chapter mention

  63. is a situation like that.

  64. And you know, when you know, God says

  65. he's going to take care of his creation.

  66. God says he's going to take care of his

  67. creatures. you know, he he can move

  68. anything and everything he wants to

  69. accomplish that. And here this is the

  70. the uh the triumphant entry

  71. of Jesus into the um to Jerusalem. This

  72. is, you know, this has usually been our

  73. our Easter or our resurrection or our

  74. crucifixion sometimes,

  75. uh, you know, prelude to what Jesus went

  76. through.

  77. But here in verse 28,

  78. we can see, and when he had thus spoken,

  79. so that's the thing. When God speaks,

  80. then we should listen and expect what he

  81. says

  82. to come to pass.

  83. And even apostles, you know, we're had

  84. to learn that. So, this is something

  85. that we have to learn as well. You know,

  86. if you're not real familiar with the

  87. Bible, I when I got saved, I was not

  88. familiar with the Bible, but it's like,

  89. wow, man. This God said it. This is the

  90. way it is.

  91. And that is really comforting for

  92. believers.

  93. So God has promised to take care of his

  94. creation. And you know when I was

  95. unsaved, I didn't have very much

  96. theology. I believe God existed.

  97. You know, I was that's the way I argued

  98. if if it came up, you know, anyone

  99. brought it up, you know, whatever crowd

  100. I was in, I believe God existed. I

  101. couldn't tell you much more than that.

  102. But to me, he was there. I saw him in

  103. creation. There was just so much going

  104. on.

  105. And then when, you know, I grew up, I

  106. graduated 1980

  107. and I grew up in the 70s.

  108. So that's, you know, I grew up in the

  109. 70s, graduated in in the spring of 80.

  110. So I spent my time in the 70s. And, you

  111. know, they were still doing, you know,

  112. kids today do, you know, active shooter

  113. drills. Well, when I was going to

  114. school, we did nuclear bomb

  115. drills

  116. >> and they'd pull the alarm everybody in

  117. the basement. And I grew up with that.

  118. So, you know, I was in my mind I was

  119. like, well, I don't think God is going

  120. to let Russia or anyone destroy this

  121. planet that he made, you know. So, that

  122. was sort of comforting for me when we

  123. did those things. And somehow that

  124. brought me peace. Well, then I got saved

  125. and now here I have all this in the word

  126. of God that God's going to take care of

  127. creation.

  128. Doesn't matter who gets the nuke. You

  129. know, he's going to he's going to work

  130. out his will.

  131. And that's what the apostles needed to

  132. learn. That's what the disciples needed

  133. to learn. This is what we need to learn.

  134. So that's why we want to look at these

  135. decrees that you know God has promised

  136. to take care of creation. God has

  137. promised to take care of his children.

  138. And here we see that you know what Jesus

  139. said came to pass. You know that's the

  140. whole point of this. He said go into the

  141. village

  142. opposite you and enter in and you'll

  143. find a colt tied up. You know even the

  144. animals answer to Jesus.

  145. You know, he knows about this little

  146. cult. He knows where it's at. He knows

  147. who to send. He knows who owns it. You

  148. know, he knows that it's not going to

  149. buck him off when he gets on it. You

  150. know, he all these things Jesus already

  151. knows.

  152. On which never a man set. How does he

  153. know that? He's God.

  154. And loose him and bring him to me. And

  155. if any man ask you why, you know, we get

  156. that a lot too, don't we? Why are you

  157. guys doing this? Why do you guys go to

  158. church on Sunday?

  159. Well, the Lord Jesus said for us to. And

  160. he said a lot more. But he's our he he's

  161. the he's our uh he's our spokesman. He's

  162. our teacher. You know, we learn from

  163. him. He's our instructor and everything

  164. he says is going to come to pass. That's

  165. just what we have to tell everyone wants

  166. to know. you know what you know what's

  167. going on with the you know you you

  168. getting this donkey

  169. and they were sent on their way and they

  170. found even as he said unto them

  171. there it is you know he oh wow there's

  172. that colt there's that colt that never a

  173. man sat on and hey by the way guy we're

  174. going to steal your coat no he just said

  175. the Lord has need of it

  176. and you know we're not given much more

  177. you what happened to him afterwards and

  178. all that, you know, we'll find out in

  179. heaven, I guess. But the lesson here

  180. that Luke wants us to get is everything

  181. Jesus said came to pass. So when we

  182. study the word of God, we want to know

  183. that everything he says is going to come

  184. to pass.

  185. Then he says, uh, they brought him to

  186. Jesus. They cast their garments upon the

  187. colt and they set Jesus upon it and he

  188. went his way and they spread their

  189. clothes in the way. And we can learn

  190. some more here too. He said, "And when

  191. he was come near and they descended the

  192. mount of olives, the whole multitude of

  193. disciples began to rejoice to praise God

  194. with a loud voice

  195. and you know all the mighty works that

  196. they had seen." So he here we have the

  197. son of God riding on a mule, riding on a

  198. donkey, riding on a colt,

  199. and that you know everything he said has

  200. come to pass and and here he is going

  201. into to Jerusalem. But look at verse 39.

  202. Now read verse 38. Blessed be the king

  203. who cometh in the name of the Lord.

  204. Peace in heaven and glory in the

  205. highest. Well, that that's us now. We've

  206. got this peace. We uh we have this glory

  207. in the highest because we know Jesus not

  208. as king. Uh we'll know him someday as

  209. king, but for now we know him as savior

  210. and head of the church and lord of all.

  211. But look at the reaction. Verse 39. And

  212. the Pharisees from among the multitudes

  213. said, "Master, rebuke your disciples."

  214. So they, you know, what what Jesus says

  215. and does uh doesn't go over very well in

  216. the world and and even in the religious

  217. world, the Pharisee. But look what he

  218. says. Tell them this. I tell you, if

  219. these should hold their peace, the

  220. stones would immediately cry out.

  221. Jesus has power over the stones. Jesus

  222. has power over the the the little cult,

  223. you know. So everything he says then we

  224. need to go and do it.

  225. And even if we don't do it, he said he

  226. was going to get the stones to cry out.

  227. So anyway, that's kind of an

  228. introduction to what we're going to look

  229. at this morning. And you know, the the

  230. birth

  231. of Jesus. We've looked at the life of

  232. Jesus. We've looked at We haven't looked

  233. at the death death yet. We will.

  234. And and his resurrection and his

  235. ascension, all those wonderful things.

  236. Everything he said he was going to do,

  237. he's done. He's not going to stop now.

  238. So, you know, we need to continue to

  239. trust him. He said down in there, I tell

  240. you.

  241. So, that's what we have in the word of

  242. God. We have Jesus saying, I told you

  243. this was going to come to pass.

  244. just like these things did as well. So

  245. there there are four realms of God's

  246. decrees. I mentioned two the creation

  247. and his and his children. We fall in

  248. that category. And then we have we have

  249. uh election and the judgment of everyone

  250. else that is not saved. Those are the

  251. main decrees that that God has given us.

  252. Now turn back to Psalm 119 verse 90.

    Psalms 119:90

  253. And that's that's what we do. We just

  254. our faith, you know, says, you know,

  255. whatever God says, I don't know how

  256. impossible we might think it is, but is

  257. going to come to pass whatever he says.

  258. And that's what we need to know. That's

  259. trust. That's faith. That's comfort.

  260. you know that nobody's going to fire a

  261. nuke on us, you know, without

  262. God saying it's okay.

  263. And in Psalm 119

  264. and verse 90,

  265. thy faithfulness

  266. is unto all generation.

  267. Thou has established the earth and it

  268. abides. There we have two in the same

  269. verse. God says he's going to take care

  270. of creation. God says he's going to take

  271. care of his children. And you know

  272. that's just to the point here. We have

  273. to see both of these. You know, Paul

  274. said a similar thing in Acts,

  275. remembering when he went to Athens and

  276. everything that was going on there. the

  277. the idolatry and the unbelievers and

  278. the, you know, the unchurched, the

  279. ungodly people, you know, the uh the

  280. filthy people as the Jews thought.

  281. You know, Paul says, "Hey, you guys can

  282. come now. God's provided a savior." Turn

  283. to Psalm 104.

  284. And you know these psalms, many of these

  285. psalms are, you know, they're the Jews

  286. wrote them and and a lot of them are,

  287. you know, Moses and David and all these

  288. guys that God used to write these psalms

  289. because they saw that they saw God

  290. taking care of creation. They saw God

  291. taking care of his children. And now

  292. here we are in the church age, you know,

  293. now God,

  294. he's I don't want to say he didn't take

  295. good care of them then, but now we're in

  296. Christ, you know. So now we're right

  297. where God wants us to be. And God has

  298. given us his righteousness. God has

  299. given everything that Christ is to us.

  300. That's Ephesians chapter 1. We don't

    Ephesians 1 chapter mention

  301. have to look anywhere else. What a great

  302. provision.

  303. And here in Psalm 104

  304. and then verse three,

  305. you want to talk about God, okay? Who

  306. laid the beams of his chambers in the

  307. waters. You know, there are rivers in

  308. the waters. Have you ever seen overhead

  309. view? Sometimes you can just see those

  310. rivers run right through the ocean.

  311. Well, here Psalm they, you know, the

  312. Psalmist knew this about God. He can he

  313. can put a he can put a river in the

  314. water.

  315. You know, everything answers to him.

  316. Every drop of water answers to its

  317. creator.

  318. And you stretch out the heavens

  319. like a curtain. And this is one of those

  320. psalms. This is the a psalm of praise

  321. for God and his creation.

  322. And uh look over in verse 11 if you

  323. will.

  324. Just read this whole thing, but I don't

  325. want to get us slowed down too much. We

  326. got more to look at. But verse 11, he

  327. says

  328. they give drink to every beast of the

  329. field. Okay, now we're talking, we're

  330. still talking about these rivers. We're

  331. still talking about the water,

  332. you know, and

  333. animals can't survive without it, you

  334. know. I know we have some deserts. I

  335. know, you know, there are places where

  336. the the water is pretty scarce,

  337. but that's the rare part of the earth

  338. and there's a purpose in that as well.

  339. But everywhere else,

  340. the water, he says, he waters the hills

  341. from his chambers. The earth is

  342. satisfied,

  343. the fruit of your works. So whatever if

  344. you plant a seed, you can count on God

  345. to send the rain, send the sunshine

  346. so that your garden will do well. He

  347. causes the grass to grow for the cattle.

  348. Well, I never thought of that before.

  349. My grass has been growing pretty rapidly

  350. this summer with all the rain that we've

  351. had.

  352. But you go out west, they don't have

  353. fences up out there. You know, they have

  354. these roaming ranging animals out there

  355. and you know the a lot of it is owned by

  356. the federal government and there are

  357. thousands of cattle just roaming the

  358. fields

  359. eating the grass that God brought up for

  360. him.

  361. So, we can see God's cre, you know,

  362. taking care of creation and he set the

  363. seasons. And we're about ready to change

  364. season. And, you know, I like that. And

  365. look down at verse 23. He said, "Man

  366. goeth forth unto his work and to his

  367. labor until the evening." We can't get

  368. out of that one, but that's good. We

  369. need to do things. But God has designed

  370. it that way.

  371. And uh you know we need to see his hand

  372. in these things. Oh Lord, how manifold

  373. are your works. I mean it doesn't

  374. compare. We compare what we can do to

  375. what he can do.

  376. There's no there's no comparison. We're

  377. creatures. He's the creator.

  378. And then he says here in wisdom

  379. you made them all.

  380. So, when you see a creature, you see an

  381. animal out there and you're blown away

  382. by its instincts. We got a big We got a

  383. whole bunch of hummingbirds at the house

  384. right now. We have hummingbird fights

  385. every night about dark. It's hilarious.

  386. But who made those little hummingbirds

  387. like that?

  388. Oh, the wisdom of God. He did it all.

  389. The earth. And that's not just the not

  390. just the hummingbirds. It's everything

  391. else.

  392. We see the fullness

  393. of his riches. So this is the God who

  394. that we serve. In verse 27, these all

  395. wait upon you

  396. every morning. The whole earth weighs on

  397. the sun

  398. and they're perfect. You know, God God's

  399. creation is perfect. We came along and

  400. ruined it. We'll talk about that later.

  401. But God said it's good. Everything he

  402. did was good

  403. and in heaven and in the earth. So if

  404. you're amazed by this earth, you're

  405. going to be a little more amazed when we

  406. get to heaven.

  407. You know this Jesus said this what you

  408. see here is is pales in comparison

  409. for what I am preparing for you.

  410. So we have to believe that that the

  411. Jesus said go get that coat for me. You

  412. know it's the same Jesus that said I go

  413. to prepare a place for you and if I go I

  414. will return again and bring you to

  415. myself.

  416. Psalm 107.

  417. Psalm 107

    Psalms 107:25

  418. verse 25.

  419. For he commands

  420. and raises the stormy wind which lift up

  421. the waves thereof. You ever been in a

  422. storm?

  423. There's not a not a drop of water, not a

  424. raindrop, not a not a bowl of lightning,

  425. not a particle of dust that does not

  426. answer to God. He's the creator.

  427. Even the storms.

  428. I love to sit on a porch and watch those

  429. things and the lightning. I just don't

  430. want to get struck.

  431. But it's incredible when a bolt of

  432. lightning comes out of the sky. We We

  433. can't even measure it. Anything we set

  434. out there to try to measure it just gets

  435. blown to smitherines.

  436. You know, we uh can't do things like God

  437. can do. But that's okay because we can

  438. trust him.

  439. And then he says there that they mount

  440. up to the heavens. They go down again

  441. into the depths. Their soul is melted

  442. because of trouble. But we know God will

  443. take care of us. And then uh verse 29,

  444. he makes the storm a calm so that the

  445. waves thereof are still. Is that what he

  446. did? Is that what Jesus did when he was

  447. with the uh apostles in the boat? Sure

  448. enough, they they said, "Wow, even the

  449. wind. Obey this man."

  450. Yeah. Every particle in this universe

  451. answers to him.

  452. He made it. It belongs to him. He's the

  453. owner.

  454. And you know, these things, you know,

  455. and our sin is caused us a problem. But

  456. that's okay. We're going to look at

  457. election. We're going to look at the

  458. other things that God has ordained as

  459. well. Go to James chapter 1.

    James 1 chapter mention

  460. James chapter 1.

    James 1 chapter mention

  461. You know the Bible question, you know,

  462. why did God allow evil?

  463. Well, that that says that, you know, God

  464. could have prevented it.

  465. So he didn't

  466. that's his sovereignty you know that's

  467. his you know he that's his call that's

  468. above our pay grade

  469. but we have the one who allowed evil

  470. into the world has come to our rescue

  471. and that's what we need to see and as we

  472. look at sin

  473. um sin did not originate in the universe

  474. verse when God got done, he said, "It is

  475. good. It's it's the devil's pride that

  476. raised up in heaven and and he got

  477. kicked out and he came to the Garden of

  478. Eden and Adam and Eve joined in." So, we

  479. have some of God's creatures in

  480. rebellion to him.

  481. you know, he he could have just

  482. destroyed everything, you know, and not

  483. chose to do this, but God's wisdom, you

  484. know, we're going to look at that, you

  485. know, next time. I mean, that's that's

  486. the answer to our problem. And we cannot

  487. trace sin back to him.

  488. You know, it's it sin is traced back to

  489. Lucifer. Sin is traced back to Adam and

  490. Eve, but not God. God is, as we seen,

  491. Jesus says, uh, he's the sinless one.

  492. So, God is sinless. And here, James

  493. helps us in chapter one with this very

  494. thing. He says in verse 13, "Let no man

  495. say when he is tempted," you guys

  496. remember Flip Wilson,

  497. I do, some of you do.

  498. Well, he said, "The devil made me do

  499. it." That was his, you know, and that's,

  500. you know, that that that's the truth.

  501. That's, you know, he can't say God made

  502. me do it.

  503. No one can say God made me do it when

  504. they sin. God is sinless.

  505. God is perfect. God is holy. You know,

  506. um what comes to us is God's deliverance

  507. from

  508. sin and temptation.

  509. So verse 14, he says, "Every man is

  510. tempted when he is drawn away after his

  511. own lust and entice." So Flip Wilson,

  512. you know, he he was only partly right.

  513. You know, we have our own lust. We have

  514. our own enticing. We have our own

  515. ability to sin.

  516. And God's dealt with that as well.

  517. Then when lust has conceived, it brings

  518. forth sin.

  519. And when sin is finished, it brings

  520. forth death. You can put 100% of the

  521. time

  522. because that's what happens 100% of the

  523. time. That's why James says, "Don't air,

  524. my brothers." So even Christians, we got

  525. to beware.

  526. Every good gift and every perfect gift

  527. is from above. It comes down. Here's

  528. God. He's not a tempter. He's You can't

  529. tempt God to sin. He doesn't tempt you

  530. to sin. He's not involved in sin. in any

  531. way in this universe.

  532. And he has this perfect gift from above

  533. that comes down from the father of

  534. light. God's not darkness. He's light

  535. with whom there is no variableness

  536. neither shadow of turning. God will

  537. never change. God won't even think about

  538. changing. So whatever he says is going

  539. to come to pass. You know, God's word is

  540. like him. It's on the line. You know, I

  541. may promise you something and, you know,

  542. something may come up and we it doesn't

  543. get pulled off or I don't get there when

  544. I was supposed to. We're

  545. uh circumstances can get in our way, but

  546. never with God.

  547. Are there any circumstances

  548. that'll get in his way, even sin?

  549. We can count on God. And he says here of

  550. his own will

  551. not yours

  552. is. We're going to look at that next

  553. week. This is election.

  554. God's will not our will

  555. come to our rescue. And he's given us

  556. the word of truth that we should be a

  557. kind of first fruits of his creatures

  558. creatures. So God's he's doing something

  559. with his creatures here. He's he's come

  560. to our rescue with a gift.

  561. And he goes on to say, we ought to be

  562. swift to hear and the wrath of man

  563. doesn't work the righteousness of God.

  564. All these wonderful things down through

  565. here that he says, you know. So

  566. here we see in James what is true

  567. throughout the Bible that when we look

  568. at salvation and we look at you know

  569. this God who's taking care of creation

  570. this God who is taking care of his

  571. children the same God has now um has a

  572. will and he is willed that uh some

  573. should not perish

  574. and that is us. But at the same time

  575. though, man is 100% responsible to God.

  576. You know, you know, even after we're

  577. saved, we're we're we're even more

  578. responsible to God.

  579. But unsaved people, they're responsible

  580. to God, too.

  581. You know, that's his that's his fourth

  582. area of decrees.

  583. You know, everything is going to go

  584. everyone's going to go back to God.

  585. Everything is going to go back to God.

  586. And we are 100% responsible for all of

  587. our actions

  588. all the way to death. You know, that's

  589. what Hebrews says. You know, then death

  590. comes, then the judgment.

  591. So, we're fallen creatures

  592. and we need this good God, this great

  593. God to come to our rescue. And

  594. he does.

  595. And you know outside of the cross you

  596. know Jesus was sinless but there you

  597. know he didn't become sinless or I mean

  598. sinful at the cross he was always

  599. sinless. That's what brought him out of

  600. the grave. That was a great penalty he

  601. paid. Turn to Hebrews chapter nine.

  602. But sin has not you know you know the it

  603. affect the angels. It's affected the

  604. human race. We need to understand evil

  605. and sin but in no way has it affected

  606. God.

  607. And here in Hebrews chapter 9 except at

    Hebrews 9 chapter mention

  608. the cross

  609. here in Hebrews 9

  610. verse three

  611. and chapter nine's it's a really good

  612. chapter. It's on the new it's on the new

  613. covenant. This is why the Galatians were

  614. wrong, you know, about what they were

  615. trying to do.

  616. There's no merit theology in our in our

  617. soarology.

  618. You know, what we believe about the

  619. gospel. It's a gift from God. He decided

  620. to give it to us. We didn't deserve it.

  621. We can't earn it. And that's what people

  622. are doing that are trying to climb up

  623. some other way.

  624. You know, God has made a way. Come his

  625. way. Don't be trying to climb up your

  626. way. You're going to you're going to run

  627. into all kinds of problems. And that's

  628. what the Bible says. That's what Jesus

  629. said. So whether it's for good or for

  630. bad, we can believe everything that's in

  631. this book. God doesn't lie.

  632. But here in Hebrews chapter 9,

    Hebrews 9 chapter mention

  633. you know, the the the law and the Old

  634. Testament are there to help us to learn

  635. what sin is and how holy God is.

  636. You know, we we need that. We we don't

  637. accidentally know what's right and wrong

  638. uh on our own. We're fallen beings. We

  639. can't even define what's good and wrong.

  640. That's how that's why we all fall short

  641. of the glory of God. We don't even know

  642. what it is. we're we're done,

  643. you know, because of what Adam did.

  644. But God's made a way. And here in

  645. Hebrews chapter nine, here is that way.

  646. And in verse three,

  647. and after the second veil of the

  648. tabernacle,

  649. which was called the holiest of all.

  650. Well, you know, that's what we're

  651. talking about. You know, we're down

  652. here. He's up there and he's in his holy

  653. holy heaven,

  654. you know, and God is everywhere,

  655. but he's going to set up a throne and

  656. it's already been set up and his son is

  657. sitting there

  658. and he has sacrificed himself. That's

  659. the atonement, unlimited atonement.

  660. We'll look at that, too.

  661. But he shed his there's no other way

  662. that we can get in to God's presence

  663. than through his son. And that's what

  664. this whole chapter talks about. I don't

  665. want to read it all. We don't have time.

  666. Go if you will in verse 11. Christ, he

  667. become a high priest of good things. We

  668. don't have to rely on the Old Testament

  669. priest. We don't have to rely on any

  670. priest on this earth. I'm sorry priest.

  671. You don't have a job on this earth.

  672. you've been unemployed.

  673. But we have one who has sat down in

  674. heaven at the right hand of his father

  675. who who has done all these great things

  676. for his people.

  677. So, you know, this is the these are the

  678. decrees of God, you know, creation

  679. and and and his children. That's who we

  680. are. I'm not a Jew. I'm a Gentile. I

  681. don't need to go back and become a Jew

  682. in order to go to heaven. Jesus took

  683. care of all that. He fulfilled it all.

  684. And now I'm in him and I can't be taken

  685. out of him.

  686. He's my high priest now. You know,

  687. that's why I don't need one on the

  688. earth. I got one in heaven.

  689. And it says here, the more perfect

  690. tabernacle. See, that's what we're

  691. talking about. Flaws and perfection.

  692. We have flaws. The earth has flaws

  693. because of sin and because of us.

  694. Heaven's spotless

  695. because God is spotless.

  696. Heaven is holy because God is holy. And

  697. that's what it says. Not made with

  698. hands. We didn't send a construction

  699. crew up to heaven to build a place for

  700. God. That's quite the opposite.

  701. He's built a place for us.

  702. And that's his creation. That's his care

  703. for his children. He even lets unsaved

  704. people enjoy life. You know, it's all

  705. going to come to an end someday, by the

  706. way.

  707. But for now, enjoy

  708. like Paul says, you know, eat and drink

  709. and be merry, but tomorrow you're going

  710. to die sometime. We're going to die. So,

  711. we need to get ready for death

  712. because on the other side of the grave

  713. is this holy God who's going to everyone

  714. every particle of this earth answers to

  715. him.

  716. And then he so we can so we can

  717. understand the depth of this. He he says

  718. in verse 12 here, neither by the blood

  719. of goats or calves.

  720. You know, have have any of you ever, you

  721. know, sinned a great sin? you don't have

  722. to hold hold your hand up

  723. or you know done something very

  724. disappointing

  725. you know we don't have to call pastor I

  726. did it again you get me a calf ready I'm

  727. on my way you know that can't do

  728. anything you know it it was there for a

  729. picture that it takes blood

  730. to pay for our sin sinless blood now

  731. it's Christ you know he he's more

  732. perfect he's perfected

  733. a a more perfect way. We are going to go

  734. into the presence of God when we die. We

  735. don't need anything. Don't let anyone

  736. sell you that. You don't need anything

  737. else. If you have Christ, you're ready

  738. to die. You're ready to go to heaven.

  739. You're ready to go into the presence of

  740. God because

  741. of what he's done. He's obtained. He did

  742. it. You didn't. I didn't. We can't do it

  743. together. He did it.

  744. He obtained eternal redemption

  745. for us. And then the writer of Hebrews

  746. reminds us,

  747. if I would have called pastor and said,

  748. "Get get the bowl ready. I'm on my He

  749. would have said, "Would you go read uh

  750. Hebrews chapter 9:13? The blood of bulls

  751. and goats, the ashes of a he

  752. sprinkling of the unclean. They they

  753. sanctify to the purifying of the flesh,

  754. the outward part of us. That sinful part

  755. of it.

  756. But what about the inside?

  757. You know, I got sins inside too, not

  758. just on the outside. Our sin problem is

  759. great."

  760. But he says there, "How much more shall

  761. the blood of Christ who through the

  762. eternal spirit," we got the whole

  763. trinity involved in our in our

  764. redemption and and this atonement

  765. that God made for us

  766. and purge your conscience from the dead

  767. works to serve the living God. And for

  768. this cause, he is the mediator,

  769. you know. So, okay, I get it. Jesus died

  770. for my sins are all paid for. But I'm

  771. still on the earth. I'm still sinning. I

  772. still have bad thoughts. I still say

  773. things I shouldn't say. I still do

  774. things I shouldn't do. I'm a Christian.

  775. But you know this problem exists. Well,

  776. now I have Jesus, my mediator. I can go

  777. to him. Now he's here between me and God

  778. to help me uh prepare for death as well.

  779. And that's what this says. By means of

  780. debt

  781. um for the redemption of the

  782. transgressions. That's me. I'm I'm the

  783. transgressor

  784. and Jesus is my savior and my great high

  785. priest. He shed his blood for me. So I

  786. come through him. That's how I come to

  787. God.

  788. And and then he says here and that we

  789. are under the first testament that they

  790. who are called mighty here it is receive

  791. you mean it's a promise

  792. all this is a promise yes it's just a

  793. promise

  794. eternal inheritance then he goes on here

  795. now over there in verse 22 he sums it up

  796. for us and almost all things.

  797. Uh, the law had been purged with blood.

  798. You know, they sinned. They had a

  799. sacrifice. Man, that would wake you up

  800. to your sinning, wouldn't it? Well, what

  801. Jesus did for us ought to wake us up to

  802. our sinning as well. It cost him his

  803. death. He says there's no good thing in

  804. sin. He says, "Go the other way and

  805. follow me."

  806. That's what we want to do. Without the

  807. shedding of blood, there is no

  808. forgiveness. So if Jesus hadn't come to

  809. earth and did what he did, then we're

  810. all

  811. no one can save themselves.

  812. So we come to God through him. And the

  813. old way was the, you know, so we would

  814. know about sin. That's like, you know,

  815. oh, I I just, you know, yeah, I'm a

  816. sinful man, you know, I want to be like

  817. Peter.

  818. Yes, Lord, I am a sinful man. You know,

  819. and then we can ask God for his mercy.

  820. You know, we're not on on our merit. We

  821. don't get saved and then we stand on our

  822. own. That's not how this works. We stand

  823. on the merit of Jesus. That's why God

  824. can give and forgive us there in in 1

    1 John 1 chapter mention

  825. John chapter 1.

  826. So, to catch us up a little bit here,

  827. the creation of man,

  828. you know, God knew evil was coming and

  829. God let it happen. Didn't take him by

  830. surprise. He's not worried about it. He

  831. overcome it. And he comes to this earth

  832. and overcome it through his son. And

  833. Jesus died for every sinner. We turn

  834. back to chapter

  835. Hebrews

    Hebrews 2 chapter mention

  836. chapter 2.

  837. You know, that's what Hebrews says. An

  838. angel didn't come and die for us. That

  839. wouldn't have done us any good.

  840. It's the son of God that come and died

  841. for us. And he said these things. I

  842. mean, he's, you know, whatever he said

  843. about all this, we we need to listen.

  844. This is the truth.

  845. And here in Hebrews chapter 2

    Hebrews 2 chapter mention

  846. and verse 9, we see Jesus who was made a

  847. little lower

  848. than the angels for the suffering of

  849. death. What? Why did God die? He had

  850. Well, we're going to be saved. He had

  851. to.

  852. But God knew he could resolve this sin

  853. problem.

  854. And resolve it he did by the grace of

  855. God. And Jesus tasted death for every

  856. man. Now, we'll look at that later when

  857. we look at the atonement. But you know

  858. this is uh

  859. you know God he justifies us. That's the

  860. word. You know that's what the that's

  861. what's so important for us to see that

  862. you know God now come to our rescue. God

  863. now has made provision for us.

  864. And you know God let sin into this

  865. world. And it started in heaven, not on

  866. the earth. But he got it out of his

  867. presence. He got it out of his presence

  868. up there and it come to earth, you know,

  869. and and has infiltrated the human race.

  870. And look at this world. I mean, is it

  871. can it get any worse? And every time I

  872. say that, it does.

  873. You know, we're just on a we're just the

  874. world is on the final spin.

  875. And we got something great waiting on us

  876. cuz we got a redeemer to come to earth.

  877. We're not going to die with them. We're

  878. going to die and go to heaven. There's

  879. nothing between us and God now. We

  880. worship him. We praise him. We pray to

  881. him.

  882. There's nothing between us and God now.

  883. And you know what? God's guilty of

  884. nothing.

  885. Jesus told him, "What are you going to

  886. convict me of? I'm sinless. Don't Don't

  887. try to blame me."

  888. And that's what we run into when we try

  889. to blame God for sin or blame God for

  890. anything. He's perfect. His ways are

  891. perfect.

  892. Everything he's ever done, everything he

  893. ever will do is perfect. Who can lay

  894. anything to the charge of God's elect?

  895. No one.

  896. And at the same time, we can say there's

  897. what what good is there in sin? No.

  898. Nothing. We saw what James said.

  899. Nothing. Zero good comes out of sin.

  900. And God has made a way for us. Uh turn

  901. back to Psalm 78.

  902. You know, these things should this, you

  903. know, what God has done for us and is

  904. doing for us should cause us to worship

  905. and praise him. That's why we're here.

  906. Psalm 78

  907. and verse 29.

  908. Psalm 78:29.

    Psalms 78:29

  909. So they did eat and they were they were

  910. filled for he gave them their own

  911. desire.

  912. Let's say that about the unsaved. Man,

  913. they're doing pretty good out here in

  914. spite of all this. God's good to them.

  915. It's not going to end well.

  916. But the goodness of God

  917. has been given to them. They go their

  918. way. They do whatever they want to do.

  919. They're responsible, not God. Oh,

  920. they'll answer back to God. That's what

  921. this book says. And all this is good.

  922. I'm running out of time. It says in

  923. verse 38, "But he being full of

  924. compassion forgave their iniquity."

  925. That's God. Come, he'll forgive your

  926. iniquity. He He'll forgive your sin, but

  927. you got to come to him on his ter.

  928. And that's what we who study the Bible

  929. and have the Bible, this is what we've

  930. learned. Look at verse 42.

  931. They remember Donna's hand. That's the

  932. unsaved.

  933. It's not good luck. There's no such

  934. thing as luck.

  935. But you know, God blesses them even.

  936. And like I said, they're going to be

  937. accountable.

  938. They're going to be accountable for even

  939. the blessings that God gave them. Why

  940. didn't you come? You know, why didn't

  941. you go? Why didn't you listen? And now

  942. Psalm 106.

  943. So, you know, this is the fourth.

  944. I'm not going to go into it. We'll go

  945. into it more next week. But, you know,

  946. just for reference, this is the fourth

  947. the fourth thing about this. The fourth

  948. category of these decrees

  949. is uh people are responsible for their

  950. action. Every one of them.

  951. And here in Psalm 106 and verse1 15.

  952. And guess what? God does it, you know,

  953. while we're living our life. You know,

  954. we make we decide, right? We have a

  955. little bit of room to decide. I mean, we

  956. can't say, you know, I'll see you

  957. tomorrow because we don't know what the

  958. Lord's going to do. We have we have that

  959. sovereignty and and that and that uh

  960. providence over us, but we know God does

  961. everything good for us,

  962. you know, cuz cuz we're in Christ, but

  963. not so with the, you know, these people

  964. get pretty comfortable with everything

  965. God gives them, you know, and then they

  966. curse him all the way to their death.

  967. That's sad.

  968. But God knows what people are going to

  969. do with his grace,

  970. you know, before he gives it to them.

  971. It's everywhere. And here in uh verse

  972. 15,

  973. and he gave them their request and he

  974. sent but he sent leanness to the soul.

  975. Gave them what they wanted, but it

  976. didn't go the way they thought.

  977. So we see the sovereignty of God, the

  978. providence of God is just in everything.

  979. you know, and and every person and it's

  980. like Paul told the uh the Athenians in

  981. in Acts, you know what,

  982. guys, the wrath of God is about to come

  983. out of the heavens. Will you please get

  984. on your knees and repent and believe?

  985. But many don't.

  986. And that brings us to uh the the

  987. concurrence of God.

  988. You know, we have that throughout the

  989. Bible.

  990. And you know, the only human being that

  991. could do whatever he wanted to do was

  992. Jesus.

  993. Rest of us are creatures. You know, we

  994. had to everything has to pass through

  995. the sovereignty of God. Everything has

  996. to pass through the providence of God.

  997. So, we know whatever we get is from him.

  998. And Job said, "The Lord gives, the Lord

  999. takes away, and blessed be the name of

  1000. the Lord."

1001. So, wherever we're at, um, as believers,

1002. God is is with us. And in this, turn to

  1003. Genesis chapter 50.

    Genesis 50 chapter mention

1004. We have a lot of examples in the Bible

1005. of the concurrence of God.

1006. Maybe you never heard that word before,

1007. but it just means that you know God

  1008. God's he's he's he's unaffected by what

1009. people are doing. He's unaffected by

1010. sin. He's unaffected by uh the

1011. consequences and the wages of it. And

1012. he's even blessing those who are

1013. ultimately going to die in it.

1014. And here in in Genesis chapter 50,

    Genesis 50 chapter mention

1015. you guys knew this one.

1016. Read the book of Genesis and see what

1017. all uh Joseph went through. It's

  1018. incredible.

1019. Like, man, I don't want to be that guy.

  1020. I don't like being the elect. I don't

  1021. like being the chosen.

1022. The world doesn't like me.

1023. There's nothing they can do to us that

  1024. God can't overrule.

1025. And if you don't do it now, he'll do it

1026. later when we get to heaven. That's his

  1027. that's him. That's his that's who he is.

1028. And here in verse 15, when Joseph's

  1029. brethren,

1030. you some of us have had problems with

1031. our families, but it's not new.

1032. It's not new at all. Joseph went through

1033. it. And it seems like,

1034. you know, God's children, Jesus told us

1035. we were. He say, he said, "You follow

1036. me." It's not going to be a vacation,

1037. but we follow. And then he's there for

1038. us. That's the amazing thing. Now, we

1039. can say, "Lord, can you help me with

1040. this or help me with that? They they're

1041. g, you know, they're going to do

1042. something to me, Daniel. They're gonna

1043. throw me in the fire."

1044. And the Lord said, 'Don't worry, I'll be

1045. there with you. You know, God can

1046. control whether fire is hot or not.

1047. God can decide if fire can consume a

  1048. bush or not.

1049. God is in control of fire even.

  1050. And the lions,

  1051. no lion, don't don't eat

  1052. Daniel.

1053. But here we see Joseph

1054. And they sent a messenger, your father

1055. did uh command before he died.

1056. And so shall we say, Joseph,

1057. uh forgive, I pray thee now, the

1058. trespasses of your brethren. That's hard

  1059. to do.

1060. But if you're a child of God, you can do

1061. it. And God wants us to do it.

1062. And we want to forgive everyone's

1063. trespasses. We want to forgive them of

1064. their sins. We don't want to hold that

  1065. against them. You know, they're they're

1066. uh you know, yeah, they're responsible

1067. for their choices and we want the best,

1068. not the worst for them, but you know,

1069. they're on their own. They're going to

  1070. answer for themselves.

1071. And he says, "Forgive them the trespass

1072. of their servants of God and of his of

1073. your father." and Joseph, he wept when

1074. they spoke to him. What a story. This is

1075. one of the greatest stories in the

1076. Bible. It's all about the concurrent the

1077. concurrence of God. No matter what the

1078. unsaved, the devil does to us, God is in

1079. charge and they can't lay a finger on us

1080. without his permission. That's how great

1081. God is. Next week we're going to look at

1082. an election and and the all these people

1083. are gonna, you know, answer to God. You

1084. know, he says so. So, let's rest in him

  1085. and let's pray.

1086. Uh our Lord and our Savior Jesus, we

1087. thank you for this uh opportunity to be

  1088. in your word

1089. to learn these great things about you.

1090. And we weren't there when you sent the

  1091. apostles after the cult

1092. and they saw these things come to pass.

1093. But someday we're going to be in heaven

1094. with you. And you said, "I told you so."

1095. And we're going to see our mansions that

1096. you have made for us. And this is an

1097. amazing thing that God can uh save

1098. sinners and then reward them for their

  1099. service.

1100. uh in spite of all this sin that we

1101. carry around and that we fight. You're a

  1102. great God. You're a good God. You're a

1103. loving God, a kind God, a merciful God

1104. as Jonah found out. And we thank you for

1105. that mercy in Jesus name. Amen.

1106. Lord, as we go from this place,

1107. loving you more, trusting you more.

1108. May the power of your love and the light

  1109. of your word shine

1110. to a sin darkened world.

1111. As we go from this
