  1. So, this morning,

  2. we are going to tackle our next topic,

  3. and it is the power of prayer.

  4. Yeah, wow. So, that's what I said.

  5. I I just

  6. complete transparency in in Noah has

  7. said this, and Matt has said it. Man, I

  8. just felt so inadequate, and just so

  9. overwhelmed by this topic. Like, who am

  10. I?

  11. Who are we to to even attempt to tackle

  12. such a sacred and personal gift that is

  13. prayer. And I kind of bounced all over

  14. the place throughout the week. I went

  15. from like, "Matt, prayer is awesome." to

  16. "Man, I don't pray nearly enough. God,

  17. help me in my faith." And it just was

  18. all over the place. The enemy took a

  19. couple shots for sure just of like guilt

  20. and shame. And And you know what

  21. actually worked was going to God in

  22. prayer.

  23. I was like, "God, I'm going to pray

  24. about this prayer thing cuz I feel

  25. attacked, and I feel all these different

  26. things." And man, I'll tell you that God

  27. met me. Would Would you Would you

  28. believe that?

  29. God met me in that moment of prayer when

  30. I I put the books aside and the studying

  31. and everything else, and I just said,

  32. "God, I want to hear from you."

  33. Man, tears were shed.

  34. Just this intimacy with God and this

  35. refreshing.

  36. And I was just reminded that this whole

  37. prayer thing is not about getting it

  38. right. It's just coming into his

  39. presence.

  40. He's like, "I have you covered.

  41. Actually, Christ is interceding for you

  42. already. So, if you forget to pray or

  43. something, don't worry about it. Would

  44. you just come and be with me?"

  45. And that is where the exchange happens.

  46. And I was like,

  47. "This is awesome." And so, I started to

  48. think, "Man, I you know, I I can't give

  49. a full dissertation, especially not in

  50. 30 minutes,

  51. about prayer. You know, I I I haven't

  52. gone to seminary. I take great

  53. encouragement by the scriptures when it

  54. talks about the first disciples that

  55. they were unschooled, ordinary men. I'm

  56. like, that's me. I'm just an ordinary

  57. guy who loves Jesus. That's it. And I

  58. want to follow the call on on my life

  59. from him. And so, I thought, you know

  60. what I can do

  61. is I can testify how the power of prayer

  62. has shown up in my life. And as I

  63. thought about the different guys who

  64. have shared, Matt and

  65. Noah,

  66. I I I also saw this recurring theme that

  67. they were testifying about how these

  68. powers have shown up. But I thought,

  69. that's right. Because if these are

  70. powers, if these are gifts and they're

  71. operating right here and now, we should

  72. have a testimony about those things and

  73. how they're showing up in our life. And

  74. so, I started to unpack, how has prayer

  75. shown up in my life? And as I started to

  76. reflect on it,

  77. uh I was just drawn back to actually

  78. some of my earliest and fondest memories

  79. as as a child. And I remember my mom

  80. praying over me every single night. Uh

  81. there was a while where I was the only

  82. child. It was a sweet run. And uh I had

  83. all my parents' attention. And I was

  84. about 5 years old. And I remember every

  85. single night my mom would come, tuck me

  86. into bed, she would kneel next to my

  87. bed, and she would recite the Lord's

  88. Prayer over me.

  89. Every single night. And soon I learned

  90. it and I would recite it with her.

  91. And I remember just feeling so safe,

  92. so much peace.

  93. Um yeah, it it was I didn't have the

  94. language for it then, but I was

  95. encountering the presence of God

  96. and and a mother's prayer over her

  97. child.

  98. And and as I started to reflect on that,

  99. I thought, man, those seeds of faith,

  100. they mattered.

  101. Every single night my mom faithfully

  102. coming to pray with me, it mattered. And

  103. as I was thinking about that, you know,

  104. my grandma used to used to jokingly say,

  105. never waste an opportunity to quote a

  106. country song. And so, uh I I was

  107. thinking about this and I was reminded

  108. of the Morgan Wallen song.

  109. uh

  110. You know, he's talking about his mom was

  111. praying and her prayers weren't wasted

  112. on him. That eventually it came through

  113. in his life and I was thinking about

  114. that because although my life started

  115. like that, there was a long period of my

  116. my life that I did not pray.

  117. And it had not seek God.

  118. And

  119. about 24 years old, I encountered God's

  120. goodness in a way that just wrecked my

  121. heart. Before I get to that, I want to

  122. talk about these different moments that

  123. my faith journey were marked by prayer.

  124. And so, like I said, my mom started with

  125. prayer. And right after high school, I

  126. joined the military. I joined the United

  127. States Army. I shipped off to basic

  128. training and I learned a lot of great

  129. things in the military. I feel like my

  130. character was shaped. I learned what

  131. what core values were, what integrity

  132. meant, all these other things.

  133. But there's one thing that it lacked and

  134. it's not what you go to the military for

  135. and that's spiritual formation.

  136. Yeah, that that wasn't happening for

  137. sure.

  138. It was almost the opposite when it came

  139. to that regard. We we worked hard and we

  140. played hard. I'll I'll put it that way.

  141. And so,

  142. yeah, there wasn't a lot of spiritual

  143. formation. So, when I came home, I

  144. actually went to the service with one of

  145. my best friends. So, we come home

  146. together and we're getting paid some

  147. money to go to school. So, we're barely

  148. taking enough classes to get our GI

  149. money

  150. to go out and and party and hang out and

  151. that's what we did. We were just out

  152. having it what we thought was a good

  153. time and just living for ourselves. And

  154. his name's Romel. He's still the my best

  155. friend to this day. And most nights I

  156. would just end up crashing on his couch.

  157. And so, his his stepmom would usually

  158. wake us up in the morning as she was

  159. getting ready to go to work. And one day

  160. me and Romel were out to to lunch and he

  161. goes, "You know what my stepmom told me

  162. the other day?

  163. She said that she's praying for us."

  164. And I was like, "Wow, how bad does it

  165. have to be when when tells you that

  166. they're praying for you?" Right? It's

  167. like she was praying for a while

  168. probably. She's like, I should tell them

  169. that I'm praying for them. You know, and

  170. she's like, man, these guys are wasting

  171. their lives away. And so, I but it but

  172. it struck me. I was like, man, this

  173. woman is praying for us, praying for me.

  174. And so, um it it wasn't a huge change

  175. right away. I don't know, maybe a month

  176. or two later I wake up on this couch

  177. again. And um I wake up, it's

  178. mid-afternoon, and uh I get up and I'm

  179. like, oh, I'm I'm going to go home. And

  180. so, I get up and I can't find I was

  181. wearing a a dress shirt that night. We

  182. had gone to some nightclub in LA. You

  183. had to like dress all nice. And so, but

  184. I had like this this black tank top

  185. underneath, like an undershirt, some

  186. black slacks, and some black dress

  187. shoes. And this is important later. Uh

  188. and so, I I get up and I'm like, man, I

  189. I'm just going to get my car and drive

  190. home. So, I get my car, I'm driving

  191. home, you know, it's like you come out,

  192. you're like, man, it's bright out here.

  193. And uh I'm driving home and uh I'm on my

  194. way.

  195. And I come to this red light and there's

  196. a church off to my right side.

  197. And I hear this quiet, small, still

  198. voice that says, "Turn around and go to

  199. that church."

  200. And I'm like, I know that's not me.

  201. Uh okay.

  202. It for some reason, whatever reason, I

  203. listen, and I turn around, make a

  204. U-turn, I park in the parking lot, and I

  205. I feel this sense to go into this

  206. church.

  207. And it it's they're they're done with

  208. church. It's mid-afternoon. It's been

  209. long over. And so, I'm like, I don't

  210. even I don't think it's open. But I'll

  211. get out. Man, look how I'm dressed

  212. though. I'm like, this is embarrassing.

  213. So, I I get out, there's no other

  214. parking lot. I go, I'm like, okay, if

  215. the door is open, I'll go in.

  216. So, I I pull on the door kind of hoping

  217. it's closed, and it opens up. And it's

  218. it's a big Catholic church.

  219. And I poke my head in there, and no

  220. one's in there.

  221. Not the priest, nobody. It's empty. And

  222. I'm like, okay.

  223. So, I walk in, I go to the very back

  224. pew, and they have those little things

  225. that you put down, little kneeling pads,

  226. you know? So, I put that down,

  227. and I get on my knees,

  228. and I just start to weep

  229. and sob

  230. from a place that I didn't know was

  231. there.

  232. And I just started to pray with with

  233. whatever I knew to pray.

  234. And I thought about my mom.

  235. How she used to pray over me.

  236. And I just started to confess,

  237. "God,

  238. I'm not living the way you want me to

  239. live.

  240. I feel like there's a different call on

  241. my life, and this is not it.

  242. Would you help me?"

  243. And I'm surprised the priest didn't come

  244. out cuz that was like loud crying and

  245. bawling. I thought someone was going to

  246. come out and pray with me. No one came

  247. out. Maybe he's on his lunch break or

  248. whatever, but I I I left and I get in my

  249. car, I go home,

  250. and

  251. again, there's just this stirring, and

  252. I'm sitting with it. And I'm like, "Man,

  253. this is

  254. I don't know what this is, but there's a

  255. stirring in my heart." And so, the very,

  256. I don't know, maybe a month or two later

  257. again,

  258. I get invited to go to this wedding.

  259. It's a Christian wedding. Some family

  260. friends of ours. I've seen God move

  261. through their life. Again, I didn't have

  262. a language for that, but saw some

  263. radical transformation in their life.

  264. And so, I got invited to their wedding.

  265. It's a Christian wedding. She's marrying

  266. this great guy. I'm like, "Man, this is

  267. a good dude." I met him for like the

  268. first time, shook his hand. I'm like,

  269. "Man, there's a light about this guy.

  270. He's awesome. These are great people."

  271. It's about 250 people at this church.

  272. It's huge wedding. So, we go to the

  273. reception. And probably the only three

  274. people that weren't Christians were me,

  275. the the bride's brother, who was a good

  276. friend of mine, and then my best friend

  277. Romel. He was with me there, too. And

  278. so, I knew that because we were the only

  279. guys at the bar drinking, like really

  280. drinking at the back of the bar. And and

  281. so, I don't know, an hour or two into

  282. it, we're there, and I hear that small

  283. still quiet voice again.

  284. Comes back, and it says, "I want you to

  285. stop drinking."

  286. I was like, "Oh, man, here it is again."

  287. Well, last time I listened, it it it

  288. worked out pretty well. So,

  289. uh I'm just going to sit here for a

  290. little bit and it comes back again.

  291. I want you to stop drinking.

  292. I go, "Okay."

  293. I stand up. I walk out the side door.

  294. There's a top this little landing. I

  295. lean over the rail and I pour out my

  296. drink in the grass.

  297. I can still see it in my mind's eye.

  298. It was a blue colored drink. I remember

  299. just seeing it come out of the cup.

  300. And I said, "Okay, I quit."

  301. And I'm telling you right now

  302. supernaturally, God snatched any

  303. addiction or craving for alcohol just

  304. like that in the moment. Completely left

  305. me.

  306. And and

  307. and not that there's anything wrong with

  308. with enjoying an alcoholic beverage

  309. responsibly. I'm not saying that that's

  310. sinful or that's bad. For me though, if

  311. you know my family history, you would

  312. know why God did that. Because on my

  313. dad's side of the family, addiction and

  314. alcoholism has reaped absolute havoc.

  315. Has taken lives, overdoses, cirrhosis of

  316. the liver. Just completely shattered

  317. their family. My dad at the time

  318. struggling with alcoholism himself. That

  319. is why God was like, "No more.

  320. It ends with you. I'm snatching this out

  321. of you." And I walk back into the into

  322. the wedding and and I put the drink down

  323. and and I'm like

  324. sitting there and they're like, "Hey, do

  325. you need another drink?" I said, "No, I

  326. quit." And they just started laughing at

  327. me.

  328. Like you And I'm like, "Why are you

  329. laughing? It was so serious to me. I

  330. just had this like encounter and I'm

  331. just like serious countenance." And

  332. they're like, "What's wrong?" And I'm

  333. like, "No, I I really quit drinking."

  334. They're like, "Wow, that's funny. We'll

  335. see tomorrow night." And so, uh but

  336. tomorrow night came and I didn't drink.

  337. And I had this stirring in me. And so,

  338. the next time that prayer showed up,

  339. that was a marker in my life, probably

  340. another month or two later, my dad calls

  341. us in the living room and says he wants

  342. to quit drinking.

  343. And I'm like, "Whoa, this is this is

  344. amazing. What the heck? You've been

  345. drinking his whole life." And he tells

  346. us he's going to check into this rehab

  347. facility and he's going to live there

  348. and he has his bags packed and I'm like,

  349. "Man, this is this is amazing." And so,

  350. he takes off and about 2 weeks later he

  351. calls and back then there were still

  352. payphones. I pick up, he's at a payphone

  353. and I can tell he's he's been drinking.

  354. I could always tell by his voice.

  355. And so, man, I'm bummed. He's like,

  356. "Come pick me up. I don't need this

  357. place. I can do it on my own."

  358. And man, I was just heartbroken and

  359. shattered. And um

  360. I go pick him up

  361. and uh long story short, it doesn't end

  362. well. We get home

  363. and we just get in this huge huge fight,

  364. this huge argument and we're just

  365. letting each other have it.

  366. And I go in my room, slam the door and

  367. uh I'm sitting there.

  368. And I look up at the bookshelf and and I

  369. see there's a Bible on my bookshelf that

  370. was given to me actually before I left

  371. to the military uh by the father of the

  372. bride actually, the wedding that I went

  373. to. And uh so, I'm like, "I'm going to

  374. try and read the Bible. I did this

  375. prayer thing. I went to this church. I

  376. think it's God telling me to stop

  377. drinking, so I'm going to read the

  378. Bible." And you guys may have heard this

  379. part of my testimony before, but I

  380. grabbed the Bible, it's got dust on it.

  381. I opened it up to like Deuteronomy or

  382. Numbers. I don't know. It's an Old

  383. Testament book that makes no sense to

  384. me. And I'm like, "What is this saying?

  385. I have no idea, but it created like this

  386. holy fear in me where I was like,

  387. "Everyone has talked about this is the

  388. the thing that has changed them and

  389. given them peace and it's doing nothing

  390. for me. What else is there?"

  391. And so, I dropped down to my knees again

  392. and I prayed.

  393. And this time I said, "God,

  394. I want to read your Bible.

  395. Would you help me read your Bible? I

  396. want to know who you are."

  397. And so, I go to sleep. I wake up with

  398. someone knocking on my window.

  399. It's the guy who gave me the Bible, the

  400. father of the bride from the wedding.

  401. He's there at my front door. His name is

  402. Ray. He's like an uncle to me. He's

  403. knocking on the door. I go around. I

  404. answer the door. I'll tell him anything

  405. that I told you.

  406. And he says, "Hey, I came to check on

  407. your dad. I heard he came out of rehab

  408. early." Took the day off work just being

  409. a brother.

  410. Coming to cover him. And uh

  411. I said, "Okay, yeah, you know, come on

  412. in." And then he goes, "Hey, uh by the

  413. way, um I'm having a Bible study at my

  414. house tonight. I was wondering if you'd

  415. like to come."

  416. I was like, "Dude, were you standing

  417. outside my window all night? Who told

  418. you this? Like, what? It First time I

  419. had full body chills just head to toe."

  420. And not the goosebumps or everything,

  421. but man, they might be something because

  422. it ran through my body. And I was like,

  423. "Yes, I will go."

  424. And he was like, "Really?"

  425. "Yeah, I'll go." And so, I I go that

  426. night and I figured, man, my best friend

  427. Romel, we've we I've drug him every

  428. place. We've indulged in revelry

  429. together. I'm bringing him here, too.

  430. And so, I drag him to the Bible study

  431. with me. We show up to Ray's house, and

  432. he has a couple guys our age. And we

  433. dive into the Bible. They open up to

  434. Acts 8 about the Ethiopian who's

  435. traveling to Jerusalem, and he's trying

  436. to read the Old Testament Isaiah. And he

  437. says, "How can I understand this unless

  438. someone explains it to me?" And I'm

  439. like, "Who is talking to these people?"

  440. That's me. That was me in my room

  441. praying.

  442. God saw me, and he heard me, and he sent

  443. these men to love me and to show me what

  444. it meant to follow him. And they

  445. explained the gospel to me, and I

  446. thought, man,

  447. you're telling me

  448. I can be forgiven.

  449. That Jesus would wipe my slate clean.

  450. That he came for me.

  451. That he loves me.

  452. Guys, the power of prayer

  453. led me to the foot of the cross.

  454. We cannot give up praying.

  455. Parents, don't give up praying for your

  456. kids.

  457. Don't give up praying for your family.

  458. Don't give up praying

  459. for your friends, for your community.

  460. The power of prayer

  461. broke through into my life.

  462. And it brought me to the foot of the

  463. cross.

  464. And so

  465. again, I can't give you a full

  466. dissertation on what prayer is.

  467. But I can tell you that the power of

  468. prayer

  469. has absolutely changed my whole life.

  470. Thank you.

  471. I didn't plan on crying this much.

  472. Um

  473. well, praise you, God.

  474. And so yeah, the power of prayer, my

  475. mother's prayers, the prayers of my

  476. friend's stepmom, of my family that were

  477. praying for me, my own prayers, crying

  478. out to God.

  479. And I started thinking about this

  480. pattern of prayer.

  481. And at first, the thing that jumped out

  482. to me is like, all these people that

  483. were praying and even when I started

  484. praying, there was one common theme is

  485. that we all believed that he existed.

  486. And the Bible says we can't approach him

  487. unless we we understand and we believe

  488. that he first exists.

  489. And then when we believe and understand

  490. that God exists, that he's the creator

  491. of the universe, that he created the

  492. stars and the mountains and he told the

  493. ocean where to stop. And he created us

  494. out of dust and he breathed life into

  495. our lungs. That should create this

  496. reverence and holy awe of who God is.

  497. And that's how we approach him in

  498. prayer.

  499. And I know for so many of us, it's so

  500. tempting to first go to God with the

  501. list of things that we need and those

  502. are all good.

  503. God does want to hear what we need.

  504. But as I reflected on this pattern of

  505. prayer through my life, these approaches

  506. to prayer were like, "God, you are

  507. creator. You are holy. You are awesome.

  508. You are able to save."

  509. And it's that posture of prayer when we

  510. enter with God

  511. that opens up this gateway to prayer.

  512. And so, as I was reflecting on how

  513. prayer has shown up in my life, I

  514. started to journal and just pour out of

  515. my heart, like what what has prayer

  516. meant to me?

  517. And uh I just want to I want to share

  518. that with you.

  519. And uh if you don't if you don't

  520. journal, uh man, you're missing out.

  521. Just pouring out of your heart what what

  522. God is doing in your life. And so,

  523. yeah, I just started to write out, like

  524. what's in my heart about prayer.

  525. And I wrote uh prayer is a sacred

  526. gathering place

  527. between creation and God.

  528. An ancient pathway, a language of the

  529. heavens where the space between both

  530. come thin.

  531. A holy exchange on our behalf, one of

  532. love, adoration, praise, confession,

  533. repentance, petitions for wisdom,

  534. discernment, wholeness, and restoration,

  535. healing and reconciliation,

  536. prayers for forgiveness and protection,

  537. and utterances manufactured deep within

  538. the inner recesses of our very being

  539. where there are no words that mortals

  540. can neither pen nor understand.

  541. In exchange, God communicates back his

  542. love for us, his affection.

  543. He communicates truth and identity. He

  544. gives revelation and direction,

  545. wisdom. He provides a holy covering, a

  546. table set

  547. with double portions of mercy and grace,

  548. cuffs that overflow

  549. with life and peace.

  550. He sets upon on an armor that protects

  551. all those who are called by the name

  552. above all names, Jesus, to whom every

  553. knee will bow and every mouth confess.

  554. All of this can be distilled down to

  555. prayer as a phone call

  556. that pierces the cosmos and resets the

  557. rhythm of our spiritual heart.

  558. It reframes the condition of our

  559. thoughts and reshapes our desires

  560. so they align with the will of God and

  561. mirror the heavenly realities of God's

  562. eternal kingdom.

  563. And I thought, man, that's what prayer

  564. means to me now.

  565. After 24 years of walking

  566. with God,

  567. this is what prayer means to me.

  568. As I was I was writing this down, 24

  569. years, it dawned on me that this year

  570. I will have been a Christian for as long

  571. as I was not a Christian.

  572. Yeah, that is so I just thought about

  573. that. I was thinking, wow, God. I was 24

  574. when I surrendered my life to you. And

  575. this year I'll be 48. And and I've

  576. walked with you as long as I have not,

  577. and God willing, it will be even more.

  578. And I just I just love that.

  579. And so,

  580. as I started to

  581. Yeah, just this week meditate and soak

  582. in what it meant to prayer, and I

  583. started to to look through the Bible,

  584. and and I understood that, man,

  585. prayer is a gift.

  586. It's It's one that we love. It's one

  587. that we cherish. It's one that's so

  588. personal to us.

  589. But it is also a reminder

  590. of the fall.

  591. Because at one time prayer wasn't

  592. needed.

  593. Adam and Eve, they walked with God in

  594. the cool of the day through the garden.

  595. They were face-to-face, and they could

  596. talk with God.

  597. And then the fall happens, and they're

  598. banished from the garden, and there's a

  599. separation.

  600. And the Bible says that Adam and Eve

  601. then had children.

  602. And we see the first innocent blood

  603. spilled on the fallen soil of the earth.

  604. Cain and Abel, you know the story.

  605. And so

  606. uh Adam and Eve they they have another

  607. son. And his name is Seth.

  608. And the Bible says that Seth had a son

  609. and his name was Enosh.

  610. Not to be confused with Enoch, Enosh,

  611. very similar.

  612. But in Genesis chapter 4 it says that

    Genesis 4 chapter mention

  613. Enosh and the people cried out to God.

  614. It's the first recorded prayer.

  615. Because they're outside the garden.

  616. There's this disconnect from God and so

  617. now the only way to communicate to him

  618. is to cry out to him. And from Genesis

  619. to Revelation, we see prayer after

  620. prayer after prayer.

  621. The Psalms are prayers.

  622. And they and they fall somewhere on the

  623. spectrum between help me God and

  624. hallelujah.

  625. And it's like somewhere it falls

  626. somewhere in that spectrum. Even within

  627. one Psalm, it's like God help me. I'm

  628. surrounded by my enemies. And at the end

  629. it's praise you creator of the heavens

  630. and the earth. Thank you that you

  631. rescued me. Have you seen that?

  632. Sometimes I just skip to the end. I'm

  633. like, I just want to read the good part.

  634. Um but yeah, somewhere between help and

  635. hallelujah, this is prayer.

  636. And we find ourselves somewhere along

  637. that spectrum.

  638. And so I started to to look at different

  639. passages about prayer. And then I

  640. started noticing that there was also

  641. some warnings

  642. about prayer.

  643. And

  644. again,

  645. I'm charged to bring the whole word of

  646. God, right? The the the hard truths as

  647. well that God tells in truth and in

  648. love.

  649. And the Bible actually says that not

  650. every prayer would be heard. And I and I

  651. was like, "Whoa."

  652. That's kind of not what I always

  653. thought. I thought, "Well, God would

  654. hear everyone's prayers.

  655. But there are things that can hinder our

  656. prayers. God can listen to whatever

  657. prayer he wants to. Let me just say

  658. that.

  659. But But the Bible also says that there's

  660. things that can hinder our prayers, that

  661. can be obstacles to our prayer life.

  662. And one of those is doubt.

  663. It says if we come to him and we doubt,

  664. we're tossed back and forth like the

  665. waves. And that person should not expect

  666. that they would receive anything from

  667. God.

  668. Again, we must first believe that he

  669. exists and that he hears us. And if

  670. we're doubting

  671. and we're and we're and we're coming to

  672. God with doubt,

  673. that can be a hindrance to our prayer.

  674. And so we must fight against the spirit

  675. of doubt. We must break up with doubt

  676. and unbelief. It has no place in our

  677. life and I'm not saying that we won't

  678. wrestle and struggle. We definitely

  679. will.

  680. Because we know one thing that Satan

  681. loves to attack, our communication with

  682. God. And this makes sense because it's

  683. true in the secular world. Before our

  684. military engages in any sort of war,

  685. campaign, or conflict, they run air

  686. missions. And the first thing they do is

  687. they target communication centers,

  688. satellites, radars, anything that will

  689. communicate information or messages.

  690. Why?

  691. Because they want to break off

  692. communication between command and

  693. control because that creates chaos.

  694. Creates chaos.

  695. You know what else it does? It creates

  696. isolation.

  697. These units are isolated, scattered

  698. throughout the country, and they cannot

  699. talk to one another.

  700. And once your enemy is silenced and

  701. isolated, you can have your way.

  702. The battlefield's wide open.

  703. This happens in the spiritual. If Satan

  704. can get you to stop communicating with

  705. God, if he can get you to doubt that he

  706. hears your prayers, if he can isolate

  707. you from the flock, he can have his way.

  708. Prayer is our lifeline to God. It's our

  709. phone call. And I love that it was the

  710. theme of camp.

  711. Was calling. And we talked about how we

  712. could miss calls, how calls go to

  713. voicemail, and we're trying to speak to

  714. God, and he's trying to speak to us. And

  715. sometimes we miss it, but thanks be to

  716. God for his grace and his mercy that

  717. meets us.

  718. I I got a a kind of a funny story,

  719. another testimony about doubt and

  720. prayer. So, we moved from from the city

  721. up to Central California 6 years ago,

  722. and we we bought a ranch property out in

  723. Exeter and

  724. abandoned the city life and fully

  725. embraced country living.

  726. And we loved it. What I didn't

  727. understand is how much work it takes

  728. to maintain a property of that size. And

  729. so, I'm out there, I got my farmer hat

  730. on, and and it really actually was very

  731. like therapeutic for me that first year

  732. just coming out of law enforcement and

  733. putting my hands in the soil, learn so

  734. much, another another story for another

  735. time.

  736. But, I'm pulling weeds this one season,

  737. and they're just popping up where I

  738. can't get a hold of them. And I'm

  739. actually pulling them up by my hands cuz

  740. I'm like, I got to get the roots out.

  741. And so, these huge weeds, and I'm out

  742. there pulling. Lucy comes out, she's

  743. bringing me water and stuff, and the

  744. girls are helping for like 5 minutes.

  745. You know, I'm like, I'll pay you 10

  746. cents a weed. And they're like, it's not

  747. worth it, you know, the bucket's like

  748. half empty. I'm out there again pulling

  749. weeds.

  750. Lucy brings water, and she goes, "Babe,

  751. I'm going to pray that God sends you

  752. help."

  753. And I said, "Thanks, babe.

  754. You pray, I'm going to pull weeds."

  755. That's what I said.

  756. Oh, me of a little tiny faith, okay? A

  757. little bit of faith.

  758. And so, she goes in, day goes by, wake

  759. up next morning, get my coffee, I'm

  760. looking out the window staring at the

  761. weeds.

  762. All right, go out there, round two.

  763. And I see something moving in that back

  764. area of the property. And so, we had a

  765. German Shepherd at the time, and she was

  766. in heat, and I was like, "Man, these

  767. dogs, sometimes they drop off dogs out

  768. in the country, so it can be from my

  769. dog."

  770. So, I grab a baseball bat, whatever, and

  771. I go out there. I was just going to

  772. scare it, okay? Grab a baseball bat and

  773. I walk out there and I'm like, "Hey, get

  774. out of here, you know, blah blah blah."

  775. And I get to the thing and I'm like,

  776. dude, those aren't dogs.

  777. They're sheep.

  778. A herd of sheep showed up and were

  779. eating the weeds that I was mowing.

  780. And I thought, God, YOU ARE FUNNY. WOW.

  781. WOW. Me of little faith. I run back

  782. inside. I'm like, "Babe, babe, you'll

  783. never believe this. Come outside." And

  784. she's like, "I know. I prayed that God

  785. would send you help."

  786. And I have a picture. Kenny, is a is a

  787. picture up there?

  788. >> Don't mess with Lucy's spray.

  789. >> No. No. There they are.

  790. Right there. Little flock of sheep. I

  791. don't know where they came from,

  792. but they came, we corralled them, and

  793. they stayed until the work was done. The

  794. German Shepherd tried to keep them a

  795. couple times and she took a nap and they

  796. like tiptoed out of there and they took

  797. off. So,

  798. yes, divine-appointed sheep. Do not

  799. doubt, okay? Do not doubt God. A mustard

  800. seed is all it takes. All right, what

  801. else can hinder our prayers? Doubt can

  802. hinder our prayers. James tells us that

  803. selfish ambition

  804. can hinder our prayers. If we're just

  805. praying for our own selfish desires,

  806. it's so tempting to look at God as like

  807. this vending machine in the sky, right?

  808. I put in my code and it falls from the

  809. cloud onto my lap.

  810. But the Bible says that we should

  811. examine our motives. We should examine

  812. our motives. Why am I praying for this?

  813. Is it because of what I'm going to get

  814. out of it?

  815. Or would this extend the kingdom of God

  816. here on earth? Does this line up with

  817. God's will?

  818. 1 Peter 3:7

    1 Peter 3:7

  819. tells us that how we treat one another,

  820. our one-another relationships will

  821. impact our prayers.

  822. This one talks about specifically

  823. relationship you know, a husband and a

  824. wife and it says like the man being the

  825. stronger in the relationship, the

  826. bigger, stronger person just naturally,

  827. if you use that to like to leverage

  828. against your wife and to lord it over

  829. her, and then you turn to God who's much

  830. bigger and stronger than you, and you

  831. want to be treated fairly,

  832. he's saying, check yourself on that.

  833. How do you treat one another?

  834. What else can hinder our prayers?

  835. 1 Peter 4:7 says, "Be alert and

    1 Peter 4:7

  836. sober-minded

  837. so that you can pray."

  838. Man, if we're using

  839. uh alcohol or any other substance that's

  840. going to alter our mind in the ways that

  841. we uh were made to function, man, that's

  842. going to hinder our prayers.

  843. We should be alert and sober-minded. And

  844. speaking of being sober, one of the most

  845. sobering passages I came across actually

  846. was in Isaiah 1:15 when it comes to

    Isaiah 1:15

  847. prayers.

  848. God speaking says, "When you spread out

  849. your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes

  850. from you. Even when you offer many

  851. prayers, I'm not listening.

  852. Your hands are full of blood."

  853. Unrepented sin

  854. is the biggest hindrance to our prayers.

  855. We cannot approach God with unrepented

  856. sin. We all sin. We all fall short of

  857. the nature of God, but we cannot

  858. approach him with wanton disregard for

  859. him and just um um rebellious spirit

  860. that I'm not repenting of my sin, but I

  861. need something from you. We can't

  862. approach God that way.

  863. We must come to God

  864. understanding who he is. And we read

  865. about this in Exodus that he is

  866. faithful, that he is merciful, that he's

  867. abounding in love to a thousand

  868. generations, but what else did it say?

  869. He does not tolerate sin.

  870. And so, he holds justice and mercy

  871. perfectly, uncorrupted.

  872. And that is what makes us

  873. approach God with reverence and a holy

  874. fear. All right, we're going to land

  875. this thing. We're going to invite our

  876. kids up here in a minute.

  877. Um

  878. I just want to leave you with this. Man,

  879. if you're struggling in your prayer life

  880. right now,

  881. I've been in those seasons, trust me. I

  882. think we're probably all somewhere on

  883. that spectrum between help and

  884. hallelujah. Amen.

  885. But I just want to encourage you

  886. that prayer is not about getting it

  887. right. It's not about a formula or um

  888. you know, it's it's it's there's no

  889. magic in it.

  890. Again, it's coming before God.

  891. Understanding who he is and who we are

  892. before him and meeting him in that

  893. place. And there's this uh passage in

  894. Matthew where

  895. um the disciples they they come up to

  896. Jesus and they they're like, "I don't

  897. know what we've been doing, but we heard

  898. you pray. Would you teach us how to

  899. pray?

  900. Would you teach us how to pray?" And

  901. Jesus actually teaches them how to pray.

  902. And so, we see this model of prayer and

  903. how Jesus approached prayer. And I just

  904. want to look at that here in Matthew

    Matthew 6:9

  905. chapter 6 verse 9.

  906. The Bible says, I'll put this up on the

  907. screen for you.

  908. It says, "This then is how you should

  909. pray.

  910. Our Father

  911. in heaven,

  912. hallowed be your name.

  913. Your kingdom come, your will be done on

  914. earth as it is in heaven. Give us today

  915. our daily bread

  916. and forgive us our debts as we have also

  917. forgiven our debtors. Some translations

  918. say sins. Forgive us our sins as we have

  919. forgiven those who have sinned against

  920. us. And lead us not into temptation,

  921. but deliver us from the evil one."

  922. Here's the two more verses. We often

  923. leave this one out. For if you forgive

  924. other people when they sin against you,

  925. your heavenly Father will also forgive

  926. you. But if you do not forgive others

  927. your sin their sins, your Father will

  928. not forgive you your sins.

  929. Again, our one another relationships,

  930. they matter.

  931. And they can hinder our prayers. And so,

  932. this model, you may have heard this

  933. before, this this model that Jesus laid

  934. out before us.

  935. Um I want to give you just some handles,

  936. some framework, if this is helpful for

  937. you. And maybe you can apply this to

  938. your prayer life even this week. If

  939. you're in this maybe rut or lull of

  940. like, man, I'm kind of struggling

  941. through my prayers. Maybe you've been

  942. praying the same prayer over and over

  943. again and haven't seen breakthrough. Or

  944. maybe your mind wanders when you start

  945. to pray and you start thinking about

  946. your grocery list. This These are all

  947. normal things. This happens to us in

  948. different seasons. But there's this

  949. phrase, an acronym, acts.

  950. And it's easy to remember, it's the book

  951. in the Bible, and it can kind of just

  952. give you some handles. Again, it's not a

  953. formula, it's not a magic trick, but it

  954. can help shape your prayer and and keep

  955. you

  956. moving along if if you tend to wander in

  957. your mind. I know that I do from time to

  958. time. And so, acts. The first one, A,

  959. adoration. This starts with adoration.

  960. Think about approaching God first with

  961. complete adoration.

  962. Like we have our to-do list, we have the

  963. things that we want to ask him for. And

  964. a lot of times we get that in reverse

  965. order. We lead with those things, right?

  966. It's just natural, it's human nature.

  967. But think about if if this week you

  968. shape your prayer life and you started

  969. your prayers with adoration of God.

  970. And one of the things I can help you

  971. with the adoration portion is like a

  972. contemplative

  973. focus on God's goodness, an intentional

  974. one. And so, for me,

  975. something that helps is I I picture in

  976. my mind's eye something that's true

  977. about God.

  978. So, something that stands out in the

  979. Bible. So, for example, Jesus ascending

  980. back into heaven

  981. after he gives the Great Commission at

  982. the end of Matthew 28.

  983. And I In my mind's eye, I picture what

  984. it would look like, Jesus ascending back

  985. into heaven in all of his glory.

  986. Picture that.

  987. The finished work of the cross, the

  988. perfect obedient son returning to the

  989. Father and seated at the right hand of

  990. God.

  991. And then I see the Holy Spirit

  992. descending, this great exchange, the

  993. Holy Spirit descending

  994. and resting on the believers in the

  995. upper room as wind and fire hovering

  996. over them.

  997. Man, that kick-starts my adoration for

  998. God. Wow, God, thank you for sending

  999. Jesus. Who are we that you would

1000. bankrupt heaven and send your one and

  1001. only son?

1002. And that Jesus, you showed us who you

1003. were after you died, they touched you.

1004. They talked with you. You showed

1005. yourself to hundreds of people.

1006. And then you sent the Holy Spirit cuz

1007. you wouldn't leave us as orphans.

1008. You see how entering prayer in this

  1009. posture changes everything?

  1010. It's like I almost forgot what I was

  1011. going to ask for.

1012. And that's okay cuz God knows what you

1013. need. But guys, if we're entering prayer

1014. with adoration first, not because God is

1015. thirsty or needs our our praise, but it

1016. should be an overflow because of who he

  1017. is in our lives.

1018. It should be a natural response when we

1019. reflect his goodness and his

1020. faithfulness. So, adoration, if we lead

1021. with adoration, naturally next will

  1022. become confession.

1023. And I put a little asterisk there,

1024. should be also repentance. We see that

1025. in the Lord's Prayer, forgive us our

1026. sins, and then the acknowledgement of

  1027. our sinful fallen nature.

  1028. A confession before God.

  1029. T, thanksgiving.

  1030. Man,

1031. gratitude will change your attitude. I

1032. know that cheesy thing that parents say,

1033. but it is so true.

1034. When we start listing off the things

1035. that we're grateful for in prayer.

1036. Ah, thank you for my family. Thank you

1037. for my children. Thank you for the

1038. church. Thank you for my faith

1039. community. Man, these things start to

1040. stir up our heart and then we get to

1041. supplication because God does want to

1042. hear what we have to say.

1043. It says that he, like even us, want to

1044. give good gifts to our children though

1045. we are evil. How much more God?

  1046. Being perfect and pure.

1047. And so I hope something that I shared

  1048. was helpful this morning.

1049. I hope that the power of prayer that

1050. that was you think about and reflect

1051. this week that you can remember how it

1052. showed up in your life. And I'm getting

1053. ready to invite up our kiddos here that

1054. went to camp. And I love this and I feel

1055. like it's so fitting because this is

1056. actually the fruit of prayer.

1057. How many parents prayed for our kids to

1058. go up into encounter God this week? And

1059. guess what? That's exactly what he did.

1060. And I know it just wasn't this week. I

1061. know like my mom prayed. Many of you

1062. have prayed over your children and

1063. continue to cover your children in

1064. prayer. And so we get to see a portion

1065. of that. If you guys can start joining

  1066. me on stage.

  1067. >> So

1068. we have Danielle who's going to share

1069. first about her experience on camp. I

  1070. just want to say

1071. I'm so proud of all of our kids.

1072. They just like went for it.

1073. With Jesus and I got to witness

  1074. them um

1075. really pressing into that and from yeah,

1076. so proud of you guys.

  1077. Uh woo.

  1078. Um

1079. So I just thought one night like God the

1080. possibilities are endless. Like kingdom

1081. builders in this room loving Jesus.

1082. Assured of the gospel, the saving grace

1083. of Christ and it was just beautiful. So

1084. yeah. Okay, we're going to start with

1085. Danielle and then what will you you'll

1086. just pass the mic on. Yeah, no. It's

  1087. okay. Take your time.

  1088. >> I just want to go quick. I don't want to

  1089. take your time.

  1090. >> Okay.

  1091. wow.

1092. I never speak into my guys.

  1093. Um, anyways,

1094. I got the privilege of going to the New

1095. Day Camp this week and it was honestly

  1096. really

1097. eventful, I think. I had lost my voice

  1098. within the second day.

1099. And I think that just proves like I was

1100. praising Jesus from the start and it was

  1101. just a great opportunity.

1102. And I think when I before we went, I had

1103. struggled a lot with like knowing I am

1104. loved by people around me, surrounding

1105. me. And I had prayed over and over many

1106. times for like just a hug from someone

1107. important to me and I got it answered

1108. that so many times like with several

  1109. different people, even people I didn't

1110. know. And I think that's always been one

1111. of my biggest prayers and I got so many

1112. hugs during camp. And it was such a

  1113. great opportunity.

1114. Um, and I think God had just called me

1115. to be his daughter. Probably the most

1116. that's what I heard from him is just I'm

1117. his daughter and I am his beloved and he

1118. will love me no matter what happens with

  1119. me.

1120. And so I just want to read a passage

1121. that was on my heart like all camp um,

1122. and I just kept reading it over. It was

  1123. um, Matthew 11:28

    Matthew 11:28–30

1124. through 30 and it's then Jesus said,

1125. "Come to me all of you who are weary and

1126. carry heavy burdens and I will give you

1127. rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let it

  1128. teach you

1129. because because I am humble and gentle

1130. at heart and you will find rest for your

1131. souls. For my yoke is easy to bear and

1132. the burden I give you is light." And I

1133. think that just spoke to me cuz there

1134. was a night where we just talked about

1135. giving my burdens to God and just um,

1136. speaking he spoke to me through my

1137. imagination and what was happening in my

1138. heart and just speaking to me uh, and I

1139. got an image of like just a sunflower

1140. just like it needs to like it follows

1141. the light in whatever way it goes and

1142. just God being the light for me this

1143. weekend and any weekend and just it's

1144. brought me so much peace and I was able

  1145. to

1146. fall down on my knees and just be like

1147. thank you God. And I think one of my

1148. other things that was on my heart was

1149. just like I adore you God. Like

1150. everything you've done for me I adore.

1151. Through my whole life um, through like

1152. being adopted and everything I know I am

1153. loved and I'm adopted by God. And just

1154. this week really just proved that and it

1155. gave me time away from my phone and away

1156. from doing all this stuff that keeps me

  1157. busy and just like

1158. now I know what my good portion is from

1159. God and he knows what I desire in my

1160. heart and I can just use him in whatever

1161. ways possible. So, it was just really a

  1162. blessing to go.

  1163. >> You got it.

1164. Hey you, look at me.

1165. >> Okay, um, yeah. So, I can't believe that

1166. was this week. That did not feel like it

1167. was this week. It felt like a while ago.

  1168. Um,

  1169. Sorry.

1170. Okay. So, I'm just going to talk about

  1171. like before camp

1172. and what God really showed me and healed

  1173. me from.

  1174. So, before camp

1175. towards like the end of the school year

1176. I was struggling with anxiety

  1177. and feeling like I didn't have a place.

1178. I felt really alone and I felt like I

  1179. didn't belong in like

1180. friend groups or like um,

1181. and like the school or like sometimes

  1182. with my family.

1183. Um, and I was kind of like why am I

1184. feeling like this? Like I'm a Christian,

1185. I shouldn't be feeling like this. Like,

1186. is this what we're supposed to be

  1187. thinking sometimes?

  1188. Um.

  1189. Um, sorry.

1190. Um, so when I went to camp, I was kind

1191. of like still struggling with that and I

1192. was kind of like, okay, maybe God will

  1193. help me with this.

  1194. Um.

1195. The first night I didn't hear anything

1196. and I was kind of worried like, oh,

1197. maybe I'm doing something wrong or

  1198. I don't know.

  1199. Um.

1200. But on the Father's Blessing night, I

1201. got prayer from Mark Condy and I just

  1202. broke down in tears.

  1203. Um.

  1204. And I didn't know why.

1205. Then the next night I got prayer from my

1206. two counselors, Mercedes and Sadie.

  1207. Um.

1208. Thank you, Sydney. Oh my gosh, I'm

  1209. sorry. Um.

  1210. And

1211. I just told them what was happening and

1212. I just broke down in tears like a good

1213. hour. And I prayed out to God like,

1214. can you please help me in this? Like, I

1215. don't know what I'm supposed to do.

1216. And I know it's just like the high

1217. school feeling and I know a lot of other

1218. people feel like this, too, when they're

1219. going into high school and as a

  1220. teenager.

  1221. So it was um

1222. And then the next morning we were told

1223. to go outside, just walk around and find

1224. a quiet spot. And I did and I was just

1225. in the middle of this my surroundings

  1226. like underneath the trees.

1227. And I heard God say,

1228. close your eyes, face up, and just

  1229. listen.

  1230. And

1231. the book of John really did come up to

  1232. me throughout camp.

  1233. Um John 4:14,

    John 4:14

1234. "But whoever drinks the water I give

1235. them will never thirst. Indeed, the

  1236. water I give them

1237. will become in them a spring of water

1238. welling up to eternal life."

1239. And I felt God just saying like

1240. "Drink my water and I will be with you

1241. forever. Like you belong in my heart. If

1242. no one else here accepts you, I do."

  1243. Um John 21:19,

    John 21:19

1244. one word really stuck out to me, which

  1245. was follow me.

1246. Because I feel like in that

1247. journey I was going through, I had to

1248. depend on myself. And I had to find my

  1249. own way through this.

  1250. Um

1251. So, I feel like God really did like go

  1252. after me through camp.

1253. And he really did tell me like I'm here

  1254. for you.

  1255. Like come to me

1256. and drink my water and you'll never

  1257. thirst.

1258. >> Um good morning. I just found out I was

  1259. going to share like, I don't know, 30

1260. minutes ago. But, um yeah, camp was just

1261. amazing. It never like God never fails

1262. to surprise me and just show up in every

  1263. way I need him.

1264. Um just before camp, like every day I

1265. had been feeling like attacked with

1266. these lies that I was faking my faith

1267. and that I never really chose God or

1268. that I never really loved him.

1269. And I started to believe them because I

1270. feel like I could never think of a time

1271. where I didn't know God. Like growing up

1272. in church and being Christian my whole

  1273. life like I never didn't never didn't

  1274. know God.

1275. But I was just like really wanted

1276. breakthrough from that. And I remember

1277. on the first night when we had to get a

1278. piece of chalk and go and draw a circle

1279. around us and just like cry out to God

1280. and pray to him. I remember feeling like

1281. kind of scared like if I wasn't going to

  1282. hear anything.

1283. And I just like looked up to the sky and

1284. I remember just almost seeing him and

1285. hearing his voice. And he just said

1286. like, "Will you trust me to be your

1287. everything? Like would you be okay if I

1288. was all that you had?" And that really

1289. scared me because I feel like I'm the

1290. kind of person who wants to have a plan

1291. and like know what's going to happen and

1292. know like have a exit plan or have a

1293. plan B and just like kind of like I

1294. don't know, be prepared. And I feel like

1295. that was really scary just to step out

1296. and say like if you're my everything

  1297. like I'll trust you.

1298. So I was kind of just like taking that

1299. in and I really wanted not to just be

1300. like, "Oh yeah, you are my everything."

1301. Like I really wanted to say yes and

  1302. believe it. And

1303. on the Father's blessing night I got

1304. prayer from Ronnie Briscoe and I just

1305. told him that and I just like I don't

1306. really cry when people pray for me, but

1307. I just broke down in tears and I can

1308. feel like a burning on my heart. And I

  1309. could just like

1310. feel like the invitation so strongly and

1311. I was so sure that if God is my

  1312. everything I'll have everything I'll

  1313. ever need.

1314. And that was just like my breakthrough

1315. at camp and during one of our quiet

  1316. times

1317. I just really wanted to feel his love

1318. cuz I I still struggling like just

1319. relying on like feeling if I felt him

1320. and his love for me and um journaling

1321. really does help. So, I was just like

1322. journaling like all that I was feeling

1323. and then like I took a moment and I

1324. stopped and I can't even remember really

1325. what happened, but I just remember it

1326. was just a breakthrough in my heart like

1327. I could breathe again and I could just

1328. feel his love come in so strongly like a

1329. wave like almost knocking me down and it

1330. was like it was never gone like it was

  1331. always there.

1332. And I feel like he really showed me that

1333. his love is steadfast that it doesn't

1334. matter if I feel it or not that it's

  1335. always there.

1336. And um I actually got a picture when it

1337. was one of the nights um of renewing our

1338. minds and I was getting prayer from my

1339. mom and I got just like this um picture

1340. of like a brain and I feel like it was

1341. my brain and it was the blood of Jesus

1342. like coming over it and it was seeping

1343. into it and even if I don't always feel

1344. like what he did was real or if I

1345. don't always feel his love like what

1346. he's doing is permanent and I can trust

  1347. him.

1348. Hi, I'm Avery Plyman. I recognize most

  1349. of you, but there's some I don't know.

1350. Um so, I went to New Day obviously and I

1351. went with my brother Andrew Plyman.

  1352. So, uh

1353. you know like everybody has like

1354. their siblings always argue like we

  1355. always like head budding.

1356. And you know like when I was like I'm

1357. going to camp and then I found out like

1358. a week before we were going that Andrew

  1359. also signed up.

1360. And I was like okay like this is like

1361. going to be our week like we're away

  1362. from everyone

1363. like we're going to it's just going to

1364. be us two I want us to be able to like

1365. find comfort in each other, find peace

1366. to where we wouldn't have to like argue

1367. all the time. And so that all week I was

1368. praying and like nothing had happened.

1369. And it was the last night. And it was

1370. the last night at chapel.

  1371. I was like

1372. God, like please just show me show me

1373. your love for me. Show me that you're

  1374. here. And he did.

1375. Cuz um Asher Beebe grasped my hand for

1376. me. And I told him about like what I'd

1377. been struggling with. And I just went

1378. after I went to my brother and he just

1379. hugged me and I felt comfort. And I felt

  1380. love and then

  1381. And

1382. it was it was amazing.

1383. And then I after like we me and Andrew

1384. both calmed down a bit, I told him that

1385. I'd been praying for that.

  1386. And

1387. it was yeah. And then I went to um Eric

1388. and I was like I want to share what

  1389. happened.

1390. And after I shared, so many people just

  1391. prayed for us.

  1392. It was wow.

1393. Like I'm my answers my prayers were

1394. answered. And the whole week I had a

1395. verse that I kept on reading Psalm 66

1396. 16 to 20 says come and come and hear all

1397. who fear God. Let me tell you what he

1398. has done for me. I cried out with my

1399. mouth his praise on my tongue. If I had

1400. cherished sin in my heart

1401. in my heart, the Lord would not have

1402. listened. But God has surely listened

1403. and has heard my prayer. Praise be to

1404. God who has not rejected my prayer or

1405. withheld his love for me.

  1406. And like I didn't realize this until a

1407. little bit after camp that like he was

1408. showing me that he was going to answer

1409. my prayers and that I'm not forgotten

1410. and that like everyone's love and

1411. everyone has his love in us and we're

  1412. all equal.

  1413. I just yeah.

1414. Like he answered my prayers. I didn't

  1415. think like he could

  1416. I don't know. Like I've been a Christian

1417. all my life, right? Like I go to church

1418. every Sunday, but it's like

1419. is God really there for me? Is he really

1420. like in me? Is he with me? Is he by my

1421. side? In that camp he showed me that I

1422. he is with me and that he does love me.

1423. So when they announced that

  1424. New Day was happening

1425. I was like, "Yeah, no.

1426. I hate camp. I'm feeling miserable and

  1427. lonely the whole time.

1428. Nobody wants to hang out with me."

1429. But then later I felt like God was

  1430. saying, "Go do this."

1431. I was like, "Well, okay."

  1432. And then

1433. like I just started making more friends

  1434. even before we went.

  1435. And

1436. and I got like leading up to it I just

1437. started getting like anxious and like,

1438. "Why am I doing this? I'm not going to

1439. like it." And like getting attacked.

1440. And then I got there and like the first

1441. time like, "Why did I do this?"

  1442. And just like

1443. just getting attacked non-stop with all

  1444. sorts of

1445. things. Just feeling lonely and

  1446. confused and

1447. then it was the father's blessing night.

  1448. Like I just

1449. my dad was there and he got to pray for

  1450. me.

1451. And I went over to him.

1452. I like I just been crying out for help

  1453. to God and

1454. I just encountered him there. Like I

1455. walked over and my heart literally was

  1456. physically aching.

1457. Like as my dad's praying for me, I'm

  1458. just like, "Ah."

  1459. And then I

1460. I just felt it he

1461. it was broken and he put it back

  1462. together.

1463. I just felt him like

1464. I felt the Holy Spirit like it started

1465. down at my feet and it just rose up and

  1466. up and I'm like,

1467. "What's going to happen when it reaches

  1468. all the way?"

1469. And I was just like,

  1470. "Wow, God.

  1471. Just you're amazing."

  1472. And just

1473. like after that day things got better

  1474. and I

  1475. I just

  1476. like I'm I was

  1477. I'm changed, God.

1478. I just want to say, "Thank you, God."
