My name is Kyle a service lead Pastor here.
-
Want to say thanks for being here today.
-
If you have your Bible with you you can open the John.
-
The Gospel of John chapter 3. John 3 is where we'll be this
John 3 chapter mention
-
morning and our word. Or in God's word, in our Bibles,
-
we are in the middle of a series called the law and the gospel
-
and which we are exploring the relationship between the law
-
versus The Gospel, which we've received in Christ Jesus.
-
And the central theme of The Met of the messages has been, you
-
must be born again. All right, so we're not good
-
enough to measure up to the righteousness of Christ, apart
-
from a work of God in us, rot in Us, by the Holy Spirit.
-
That which comes to us through the Cross of Christ.
-
Jesus, amen. So, Christ perfectly fulfills.
-
The law in his death and his resurrection.
-
He has torn the veil of the temple.
-
So, to speak. So that we now can be ushered
-
into the presence of God by the spirit of God, and that happens
-
through New Birth. And so that's the relationship
-
between the law and the gospel. The law does not save you.
-
The gospel saves you, but as someone who's been saved by the
-
Gospel of Jesus Christ, there must be holiness.
-
Present in your life, there must be in you evidence that the
-
spirit of God has made you knew. And so, that's what we've been
-
talking about. Is how to be born again.
-
What does this look like, we've been interacting with the text
-
in John 3, which is an interaction between Jesus and
-
Nicodemus. Nicodemus was a Pharisee, he was
-
really a Pharisee of Pharisees. He was a member of the
-
Sanhedrin, which was the ruling body of the Jews.
-
Spiritually ruling body of the Jews, he He was a teacher of the
-
law, Jesus, even references or calls him rather in John 3. 10,
-
the teacher of Israel, he says, are you not the teacher of
-
Israel? And you do not know these
-
things. So, Nicodemus knows the word of
-
God, and yet, he needed to be born again.
-
Nicodemus was as religious as a man could be and yet he needed
-
to be born again. And so, the message for all of
-
us is you must be born again. The see the kingdom of God.
-
You must be born again to enter the kingdom of God.
-
Amen. When I ask you to do something,
-
would you stand your feet as we read God's word this morning.
-
If you're unable to that's fine. John chapter 3 verses 1 through
-
6, we're going to focus specifically on verse 6, but I
-
want to read one through five to help us, see the context of
-
what's going on here. Now, there was a man of the
-
Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
-
This man came to Jesus by night. Night and said to him.
-
Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher.
-
Come from, God, for no one. Can do these signs that you do.
-
Unless God is with him and Jesus answered him.
-
Truly truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he
-
cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus said to him.
-
How can a man be born when he is old?
-
Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born
-
and Jesus answered truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born
-
of water and the spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
-
Verse 6, Jesus continues. He says that which is born of
-
the flesh is flesh and that, which is born of the spirit is
-
spirit. Amen.
-
And you may be seated. Well, I hope for us to see today
-
is this and if you're taking notes, you can write this down.
-
I want us to understand this Truth.
-
The Fountainhead for True, spiritual life is the birth of
-
the holy spirit's The Fountainhead for True.
-
Spiritual life is the birth of the holy spirit.
-
Let me pray for us before we go any further.
-
Heavenly Father, we thank you for your word.
-
We thank you. That is living and active and
-
sharper than any double-edged sword.
-
It's about a pierce down to the depths of who we are and it
-
discerns in US, truth and falsity.
-
And father, we ask that you would help us to see Christ
-
today by your spirit, open our hearts, and our minds, and our
-
eyes, and our ears to hear. And to see, and to understand
-
and to love your son, Jesus. Lord move our will to want to do
-
your work in this world, in Christ's name, we pray.
-
Amen. Amen.
-
One of the foundational truths of nature was of all things that
-
exist. Is this that like produces like
-
this, this truth is woven into the design of all that God has
-
created. For example, you cannot grow an
-
apple tree with the seeds of a tomato plants, right?
-
You plant a tomato. Plants and you will get a tomato
-
plant if you know what you're doing, right?
-
Right. And when you plant an apple
-
tree, we throw those seeds into the ground.
-
You don't expect to have a towering redwood tree, right?
-
You planted an apple tree and so you expect to get an apple tree
-
like produces like your dog will not give birth to a cat.
-
Humans will not produce a giraffe, right?
-
Like produces like the same thing is true in the spiritual
-
world. As we have seen in previous
-
weeks when the Holy Spirit regenerates the human heart, he
-
produces a holy life in the soul like produces light.
-
The spirit produces Spirits, nothing else, can produce
-
spiritual life, except the Living God, because nothing else
-
is spiritual like God. Nothing else is able to cause
-
spiritual birth as God is able to cause it.
-
And so that is why I say that The Fountainhead.
-
Ed for True, spiritual life. The thing that's going to happen
-
in your life that's going to Spring forth.
-
The Fruit of the Spirit In You. The Fountainhead for True.
-
Spiritual life is the new birth of the holy spirit.
-
It's the new birth of the Holy Spirit.
-
And so when the word of God has planted like a seed in the human
-
soul, this is sorry. So through this series, we've
-
been referencing Lawson's book. This is a quote from Stephen
-
Lawson. Start it over when the word of
-
God has planted like a seed in the human soul.
-
The Holy Spirit acts, by The Sovereign, will of the father
-
and creates new life in the spiritually dead.
-
This new life is spiritual life because it is created by the
-
Holy Spirit. Again, like produces, like this
-
is what Jesus is making clear to Nicodemus in John. 3:6 Nicodemus
-
is asking how can this be? How can a man enter into his?
-
Mother's womb, right? It can't happen.
-
So how can a man be reborn? And Jesus is saying, look, that
-
which is born of the flesh is flesh.
-
And that, which is born of the spirit is spirit.
-
So, the flesh, Jesus is saying, can only become more flesh.
-
It can only create more flesh when you were of the Flesh and
-
you are not yet, Spirit born. You can only produce works of
-
the flesh. You cannot produce works of the
-
spirit, you are bound to the flesh.
-
Amen. And so on.
-
And is born from a woman, right? Flesh, produces flesh.
-
And so when a man is born of a woman, we saw this a few weeks
-
ago, we looked at Genesis chapter, I believe it was for
-
it, might be five. Actually, what we see there is
-
that, as Adam as Seth was born to Adam, it says that he was
-
born in the image and likeness of Adam meaning, not that he
-
wasn't in the image and likeness of God, just that he now had
-
that since stained soul that sins.
-
Stained nature. He was corrupted by his birth.
-
He was born in the image and likeness of his father.
-
Adam. And so to have we've been born
-
in the image and likeness of our father, Adam And this is one of
-
the truths that we must know, the spirit produces.
-
However, the spirit produces only that, which is spiritual
-
because he belongs to the spiritual realm, he belongs to
-
God. He is God, Jesus is not only
-
making a claim that is foundational to Creation.
-
He's making a claim that is foundational to understanding
-
how a person must be reborn. How this takes place, he is
-
telling Nicodemus about his spiritual, Ins that which is
-
born of Flesh. Nicodemus is flesh.
-
He's exposing him. He's showing where his
-
limitations rest Nicodemus is thinking, if I'm, if anyone is
-
close to God, it must be me. And Jesus is saying that, which
-
is born of the flesh is flesh. He's already told him.
-
You cannot see the kingdom of God.
-
Unless you're born again. You cannot enter the kingdom of
-
God unless you are born again. Jesus is talking about the human
-
nature, not simply Being Human. He's talking now about the
-
nature of a human being The whole nature of man is here
-
condemned in a single word from Jesus Christ, that which is born
-
of the flesh, is flesh in your flesh.
-
You can never make yourself spiritual on your own.
-
You are corrupted by your flesh. Your reason your ability to
-
reason your ability to understand is corrupted by your
-
flesh. All of the affections of your
-
heart are wicked and In a word. You are carnal and nature.
-
Not spiritual you are corrupted because of your father, Abraham.
-
This is who you are before Christ.
-
Now, that's not to say that there's not some evidence of
-
goodness in the person who is still corrupted by his sin
-
nature, but there is no evidence of righteousness.
-
There's no evidence of true godliness.
-
There's no evidence of a spiritual rebirth just As we
-
might look at an unbeliever and say well, he's a good person.
-
This is not mean that he is a saved person.
-
It's not mean that he is a new creation in Christ, naturally.
-
A man does possess some knowledge of God.
-
This is the way that God has wired him, why?
-
So that he will have an affection for God, he is created
-
to worship God. And though, our worship is
-
corrupted by our sin, our worship is corrupted by our evil
-
desires or worship is fixated on other things, besides God, other
-
people, besides God. We are no.
-
No less created to worship. Amen.
-
It's just our affections of our harder wrong.
-
The longings of our heart are evil.
-
And so, we look upon a man and we say, well, he's got some
-
natural knowledge of God. He's got some understanding.
-
This is true. God says, as much in Romans
Romans 1 chapter mention
-
chapter 1 There is in a man, some distinction of Good and
-
Evil and Grave and on his conscience, right?
-
He knows them the nature of Good and Evil.
-
An unbeliever can look upon a horrific Act of.
-
Let's say, murder and say, that's wrong.
-
Well, by what standard is it wrong?
-
Well, it's wrong by the standard of God.
-
God has declared murder evil and so when a person Sin looks Upon
-
A murder, whether they're a Believer or not and says that's
-
evil. That's wrong, they're declaring
-
that. God is true, even though they
-
don't know it. They have an understanding of
-
God even though they have no saving knowledge of him.
-
Yet. This is what again,
-
Ecclesiastes, 3 verse 11 is saying that God has put into the
-
heart of every man. A sense of Eternity.
-
Yet, in such a way that he cannot find out who God is on
-
his own. God must reveal himself to us
-
but naturally there's an understanding of Good and Evil
-
naturally in a man his faculties his ability.
-
To move and to work and to think.
-
And to reason all of these things are sufficient for
-
maintaining life, unbelievers can be good, maintainers of
-
Life, they can be good workers and their jobs, they can be a
-
good husband and a good wife as much as we might call it good,
-
right. We're not saying righteous just
-
as soon as evidences of God's grace in their life.
-
However, mankind is completely polluted by his human nature.
-
This doesn't mean that every person is as depraved as he
-
could be right, we would look at some people, you know, the
-
low-hanging fruits of History like Hitler.
-
And we would look at people like that and we would say well that
-
man was as corrupt as he could be.
-
Well, it might be true. That God had actually removed
-
his hand from Hitler and let him run headlong into his depraved
-
nature without any restriction whereas for others, God may
-
still be restricting them. But it doesn't mean that they're
-
not polluted by their nature. Still polluted. it means that
-
every aspect of the Human Nature has been corrupted by the deadly
-
poison of sin because flesh gives birth to flesh like
-
produces like Likewise Jesus says that, which is born of the
-
spirit is Spirit there in verse 6.
-
Jesus saying that the holy spirit gives life to the human
-
heart, that which is born of the spirit, capitalists were talking
-
about the spirit of God is Spirit.
-
We might say, is spiritual is able to be spiritual has now
-
been created by the spirit, born of the spirit to follow the
-
spirit. Amen.
-
This new nature from God, operates in the kingdom of God.
-
Not in the Kingdom of the world like produces like.
-
And so the spirit has Produced the spirits in a person during
-
the New Birth. So if you're going to have
-
eternal life, if you're going to experience eternal life, you're
-
going to know eternal life today.
-
The hope of it. And then one day experience it.
-
After you've breathed your last breath, that will happen because
-
the holy spirit is the only one who created that in you because
-
the Holy Spirit gave you new life.
-
No human being can create a spiritual life for himself or
-
herself. It's not possible.
-
The new birth belongs to God Alone.
-
He causes it by the work of his Spirit within you.
-
Again, Lawson is hopeful here. He says, if you were born again,
-
this is what God did within you within your hearts regeneration
-
dramatically transformed. You at the deepest level, this
-
change was from the inside out. You were immediately transferred
-
from spiritual death to spiritual life, you suddenly
-
passed from Darkness. He's too light.
-
This change was so dramatic. He goes on to say that you
-
became a new creation. This God, given birth altered,
-
the fundamental nature of your mind and your affections and
-
your will amen. So we might ask, how
-
comprehensive is the new birth to what lengths does?
-
The new birth go in someone's life around here we talk about
-
things like growing up into the image and likeness of Christ.
-
As we behold Christ, we are becoming more and more like him
-
until the day where we see him in full and we are in an instant
-
transformed into the perfect image of Christ.
-
Around here, we talk about how that takes time and it takes a
-
renewed commitment to the Lord daily efforts on your end to
-
become more like Christ. It may even happen faster in
-
your life at times and slower at other times you might feel like
-
you're in the desert for a while and then all of a sudden you
-
know the new mercies of God as a flowing river in your life.
-
The truth is that the Christian Life is a series of ups and
-
downs. It's a daily walk with the Lord.
-
That is both suffering and joy. You experience, pain and
-
affliction in the Christian Life.
-
You experience deep hurts for, which you may never know.
-
Peace on fully until you see Christ in heaven and you
-
experience great Joys which the world could not comprehend in
-
Christ, and that's what happens. Is, you commit yourself daily to
-
the Lord. It's a waxing and waning at
-
times. It's a ability to notice your
-
sin and to confess it and to put it off.
-
And then it's the inability at times to see any of that and to
-
be hard-headed. And then to realize, Oh my
-
goodness. I've made some mistakes.
-
I need the grace of God to save my soul, I need the grace of God
-
to heal me whole right now. Amen.
-
If you've walked with the Lord for more than 10 minutes you
-
know that what I'm saying is true So, how comprehensive
-
though is the new birth? If we're saying that we're
-
growing, and we're being grown, if we're saying we're saved yet,
-
we're being saved. If we sang that we are
-
Sanctified yet, were being Sanctified, how comprehensive is
-
the new birth? What is taking place in the new
-
birth? Well, there's a helpful again,
-
quote here in the book. A healthy baby.
-
It's an illustration, really a healthy.
-
Baby is born into this world with all of its body parts.
-
All right, there's two arms, there's two legs.
-
There's two eyes. Go on and on and on right.
-
That's what a healthy baby would look like these different body
-
parts do not come in stages, over a period of time, right?
-
A healthy baby is not born with legs and then later developing
-
arms and hands and feet. We're not celebrating the growth
-
of new legs at 15 months old, right?
-
Typically we have already celebrated crawling and walking
-
by then every healthy baby, arrives, with all the needed
-
body parts. And the same is true in the New
-
Birth by the spirit of God. God immediately works in the
-
whole of your nature and the and all that.
-
You are, he renews your minds. He reorients your affections, he
-
redirects your will, and it's not that our minds are changed,
-
but not our emotions and our will It's not that your emotions
-
are changed and then your mind and your will will follow at
-
some point in the future. It's that you have a new mind, a
-
new will a new heart. And God has transformed.
-
Every aspect of you into a new creation at the same time and so
-
you were like a baby with all of its healthy body parts, yet all
-
of the same need to mature and grow up in Christ.
-
Amen. To learn how to crawl to learn
-
how to walk and talk to learn how to verbalize your heart, and
-
your feelings. You are a new creation, but you
-
need growth, you need to mature, and so we're not.
-
Waiting on hands and feet and eyeballs.
-
And a new mind, a new affections.
-
We have those things but now it's time to cultivate maturity
-
and this is what the spirit of God has done in you.
-
He's made you a brand new spiritual baby.
-
You're an infant in Christ. And he's also going to grow you
-
up. He's going to mature you.
-
It's a long walk in the same Direction.
-
That's What faithful discipleship looks like.
-
It's following God. Daily walking in the same
-
direction over a long period of time until you attain the
-
maturity of Christ. And you'll experience highs and
-
lows. As I mentioned a moment ago,
-
once you are corrupted and now you are uncorrupted, once you
-
walked a crooked path but now you desire to walk the straight
-
path once your desires were polluted but now they are holy
-
once you were contaminated by your sin but now you are pure by
-
the blood of Christ. I do not mean that there is no
-
work left for you to do. Whether I mean that you have all
-
the necessary body parts to live a spiritual life to grow into
-
mature in Christ. Because the New Birth, you have
-
received by the grace of God has come to you through his divine
-
power in the holy spirit. Amen.
-
And so the spiritual birth is the reverse of the curse in
-
that man has fallen because of his desire to be God.
-
Adam and Eve disobeyed God. And so now we were born as I
-
mentioned earlier, in flesh, with fleshly desires, a
-
corrupted nature. And the spiritual birth in is
-
the reverse of this curse of depravity that we have on us.
-
The spiritual birth is The Fountainhead of true spiritual
-
life. Sin ruined you, but the spirit
-
of God is renewing, every part of your inner being and the new
-
birth. You have a new king.
-
Once you were the Lord of your heart, the Lord of your mind,
-
the Lord of your soul. But now you serve the one true
-
Living God, He reigns over your entire life.
-
This is the greatest change that you could ever experience in
-
your entire life. Nicodemus should have known
-
something about these truths. It's a teacher as the teacher of
-
Israel as a man of God's word is a man of the Old Testament.
-
He would have been aware of such text as we've looked at already
-
Ezekiel 36 and earlier weeks, God had established the truth of
-
the new birth in the Old Testament.
-
What God is doing in Christ. What he's revealing through
-
Christ in John chapter 3 is just a fulfillment of things.
John 3 chapter mention
-
He had said he was going to do. It's the long-awaited Messiah is
-
the long-awaited Redemption. It's the true freedom from sin
-
and death and Ezekiel. 11 verse 19, God says, through Ezekiel,
-
there, he said, I will give them one heart and a new spirit, I
-
will put within them. I will remove the Heart of Stone
-
from their flesh and give them a heart of Flesh and that's the
-
promise for all who come to God through faith is that he will
-
remove Your Heart of Stone and give you a heart of Flesh.
-
When you come to God through faith in Christ Jesus.
-
If you receive a brand new life, you are made a brand new
-
creation, all of your sins are put on Christ Jesus alone and
-
you are saved forever more. Amen.
-
God in fatica lie here. Lawson says, I've got
-
emphatically speaks of the fully integrated thorough.
-
Nature of the new birth. Only God working by his Spirit.
-
Can execute this extraordinary claim.
-
New religion cannot manufacture a new heart.
-
No church can conceive this new life.
-
No, Pastor or evangelist can cause this in someone.
-
No Christian parent can transfer this to his or her child.
-
God Alone can Give this new heart, the Creator alone can
-
create new life in the soul. And so by saying I will remove
-
the Heart of Stone from their flesh and Ezekiel God is giving
-
us some insight into what Christ means by that which is born of
-
the spirit is Spirit. Lawson goes on to say that a
-
Heart of Stone is hardened toward God cold and without love
-
for him, a Heart of Stone refuses to submit to God's will
-
a Stony heart is stubborn. It is self willed, it is
-
indifferent towards the spiritual things of God, it is
-
life. lifeless, the entire life is opposed to God when you have
-
a hard heart when you have a Heart of Stone, Austin goes on
-
to say though this heart may want the blessings that God
-
provides it does not want God himself.
-
Those with such a heart only want to use God for their own
-
selfish ends. For worldly things that he can
-
give them. This is like a toxic
-
relationship, where a man. Only uses a woman for what she
-
can give him physically. Such is selfish, lust, not
-
sacrificial, love, and even so the old heart merely desires to
-
manipulate and use God not to love and serve him.
-
And so we hear these things, we read these things.
-
We see what Christ is saying here, and we must understand
-
that we're in need of spiritual surgery.
-
And it's a surgery that only the only the god of Heaven and
-
Earth, the Creator can accomplish each of us must
-
recognize our need for the new birth, no matter what your
-
history is, no matter how, church-going you've been, no
-
matter how perfect your attendance has been, no matter
-
how great It, you are memorizing scriptures, you learned as a
-
child. You are in need of a new heart.
-
It is impossible to love God with a Heart of Stone.
-
But in the New Birth, God takes Your Heart of Stone.
-
He gives you a heart of Flesh. And with that heart of Flesh,
-
you were now able to love God. Your heart beats for him, your
-
affections long for him. And this is the only way to love
-
God. Because The Fountainhead for
-
True spiritual life is the birth of the Holy Spirit, the new
-
birth of the Holy Spirit. Ezekiel helps us Define.
-
What happens when we receive a new heart from God In The
-
Rebirth of the spirit? While some points out for, I
-
think it's four things here. We receive a heart of Flesh.
-
First, Ezekiel tells us that you receive a heart of Flesh in the
-
New Birth. He says I will give them a heart
-
of Flesh. Your old heart was dead towards
-
God, but your new heart is alive toward him.
-
Your heart beats for him, The Fountainhead Springs forth into
-
your entire life. You were glad to respond to the
-
promises and the commands of God's word.
-
Newhart loves God and puts his kingdom.
-
First. You are a new creation because
-
you have received a new spiritual heart from the spirit
-
of God. The second thing we see about a
-
new heart is that we receive an undivided heart.
-
Every True Believer receives a new heart.
-
That is one heart as Ezekiel says.
-
This means that your heart of flesh is an undivided heart.
-
It's not a heart of Flesh and a Heart of Stone simultaneously.
-
It's a heart of Flesh that is putting to death, the Heart of
-
Stone, you are not interested in another Master, whether it's
-
someone or something, you serve, Your Allegiance is to the one
-
true Living God. And you've pledged it to him
-
alone. To the Hebrews as they receive
-
this word from Ezekiel. The heart represents the center
-
of all that a man. Is it represents his entire
-
inner most being? So when they read, we're going
-
to get a new heart. We're getting a new life.
-
We're getting new insides. We're being transformed
-
completely. There's nothing left of the old
-
man. Everything is new.
-
And so when you are regenerated by God, all things become new
-
You receive a new mind in which you can now know God before you
-
knew some things about, God, whether you knew it or not.
-
But now you can know God with everything that you are.
-
When you receive a new heart, this undivided heart has new
-
affections to love God with your desire is for him.
-
You have new Ambitions and new hungers, and new thirst.
-
The Divine gift of the new birth makes every single thing inside
-
of you brand-new. Amen.
-
We receive a United heart. Third thing, we see, is that we
-
receive a United heart. I will put a new spirit.
-
Within them in Ezekiel 11:19 regeneration gives you a new
-
spirit and that, which is born of the spirit, is Spirit, this
-
new spirit directs your mind directs, your thoughts and
-
perspectives. You receive new attitudes and
-
priorities, and inclinations, and desires within your soul,
-
much of that we've covered. And as a new creation in Christ,
-
you are now United to Christ. Amen.
-
Your heart is united with him and you're not only United with
-
Christ. And in this horizontal or sorry
-
in the sense of up and down, right?
-
But you're a United with Christ sideways, your United with
-
Believers brothers and sisters in the Lord and now you can
-
follow Christ together. So you are united to Christ and
-
to the body of Christ, amen. You're not alone ever.
-
Ever are you alone in this world?
-
You will face all of those hardships, all of those ups and
-
downs. I mentioned earlier.
-
You face all of that with the one true Living God by your
-
side. Leading you making known to you
-
the path of Life. David says, in psalm 16, at his
-
right hand are Pleasures forevermore.
-
That's how you walk through life and you get to do it side by
-
side, with one another encouraging one another
-
Depending on one another. Because this is how God has
-
wired your new hearts. Next, we see that we receive a
-
spirit and dwelled heart and the new birth God places his holy
-
spirit, into your soul. God himself comes to abide with
-
you, and when you are Spirit or born of his Spirit, you are with
-
God because God is in you. That's what Christ says, in the
-
latter part of John, I think it's 14.
-
May be 16, but Jesus is talking about what the holy spirit will
-
do this comforter, who will come, and he says that he will
-
dwell in you and that the father and the son will dwell in you.
-
They dwell in you because of the Holy Spirit, you are now the
-
Temple of the Living. God your body is the Temple of
-
the Living. God Lawson says, because of his
-
indwelling presence, our new lives in Christ or lived in the
-
all sufficient power of God, the same Spirit, who convicts us
-
also calls us and that he is the one conforming us into the image
-
of Christ. The spirit causes us to desire
-
and pursue personal Holiness. On a daily basis.
-
We are not merely made alive, but then left to live the
-
Christian Life on our own to the contrary.
-
God gives us his Spirit to supernaturally.
-
Enable us to function in this new life with him without his
-
regenerating Grace. We would be unable to live as
-
God intends us to live. Finally, we see that we receive
-
an obedience heart. In your new life.
-
You owe you love to obey God. This is why Jesus says if you
-
love me obey my Commandments Your Love, show your love is
-
shown in your obedience. And so we love to obey God by
-
following his will. This is part of what the spirit
-
does. In US, it creates a life that is
-
now oriented toward God. It happens instantly, and it
-
happens over time, instantly, you have new desires to obey,
-
God, and over time. Those desires are sharpened and
-
honed. As you encounter more of God's
-
truth in his word, the spirit redeemed, your old life of
-
Disobedience, he creates a new, a new desire for faithful
-
obedience. You once hey, Added God's law.
-
But now you find the life and following the law, you desire to
-
keep it. The that only happens because
-
you've received a new heart from the spirit of God.
-
Again Lawson's, helpful here. He says, as soon as the spirit
-
creates new life in you, a new walk with God, begins in the
-
pursuit of Holiness. Wherever there is regeneration,
-
there will be growth and sanctification.
-
There is no such thing as a Believer who has been born
-
again, who is not also growing. In sanctification of the spirit
-
of the Lord is there is freedom, amen.
-
If you're curious about that read Romans 1 One through eight,
-
but especially hone in on six, seven and eight.
-
There is no such thing as being able to walk in the flesh and
-
walk in the spirit. When you were free by the spirit
-
of God, you are free from sin. Amen.
-
It doesn't mean that you're not putting to death old habits.
-
I'm not saying that I'm saying. There will be growth.
-
There will be transformation, it'll be noticeable.
-
It'll be noticeable. And so, a new heart will always
-
produce a lifestyle of obedience to God Lawson finishes.
-
Their, it's important to remember that the work of the
-
new birth is God's work. It's his work alone.
-
While you were still a sinner, God say Hugh, You deserve death,
-
but God gives you life while you were running away from God, he
-
is drawing you near to himself. In fact, I love to hear these
-
stories of people who thoughts all that time.
-
I was running and running and running from God, only to find
-
out that all of those steps. They were taking away from God
-
were leading them to God. In the end, God is able to save
-
to the uttermost all of those who draw near to him.
-
Through Christ. Amen.
-
By the power of His Hand, you receive salvation from your sins
-
and a new life in Christ Jesus. And so I must ask today.
-
Have you received a heart transplant?
-
Have you been given a new heart from God?
-
Have you felt new longings for God?
-
have you felt new desires for Holiness within you desire to
-
put away the old man, the old whoever you are and to take on
-
the new man, Do you see this new obedience to the word of God
-
that we've talked about today? Maybe you don't know it fully
-
again, this is happening in stages, we were talking about
-
this in biblical manhood on Thursday night.
-
How you can it is possible to go headlong into sin and not
-
realize it at times because you're just, you're ignorant of
-
what God's word says. And so until someone talks to
-
you about it. So someone says Hey Brother.
-
This is not the correct way to live as a Christian here, is
-
what God says about this here is how you can have freedom.
-
Here is, how you can depend on the Lord to overcome these
-
things. And then we get to see how a man
-
responds, right? If a man responds Faithfully by
-
putting to death, his sin working towards Holiness, and we
-
can say, the spirit of God is in that man.
-
But if a man puts up his hand and he hardens his heart, and he
-
runs as far away from sound Council as he can, we have right
-
to question whether or not the spirit of God is actually alive
-
in him. We need to belong to God.
-
We need to have a desire for obedience. and so, if this new
-
life is not happened in you, Ask God to cause you to be born
-
again, ask God to Grant You a New Life.
-
You bring God your sin and you humbly ask for New Life In
-
Christ and he brings you eternal life by his mercy and Grace.
-
There's no greater change, you could ever experience.
-
When God takes your old Heart of Stone, and he gives to you a
-
heart of Flesh, you will be made completely new.
-
You will never be the same again.
-
Ask him for a new heart because this is a prayer that he loves
-
to answer. If God has changed your hearts,
-
if you sit here today and you say, Kyle, I I know these
-
affections, I know these new desires, I want to obey the
-
Lord. I want to follow him then.
-
Praise God Rejoice. That you have been saved by the
-
hand of God that he's granted. You new life and his spirits and
-
continue to walk with him. Daily continue to put away the
-
old man into walk in holiness. Can you to read his word each
-
day? Pray to him, depend on him.
-
Be involved in your church, get to know other.
-
Believers, especially those who were more mature in the Lord
-
than you are learn from them, ask them questions, ask them
-
about their marriage, their parenting, ask them about their
-
faith, through difficult trials, ask them, what was your most
-
difficult moment of your life and how did the Lord see you
-
through it? Ask them their greatest
-
victories. And listen, learn from one
-
another. You've been given a family in
-
God, the Christian life is not meant to be individualistic.
-
It's meant to be lived out in community with others.
-
And so you can ask and groups you can ask in one-on-ones.
-
There's not, I've called many of you up.
-
There's not many in here who won't go to coffee.
-
If you call them, they won't go to lunch if you ask them.
-
Everybody wants to talk about the Lord asked them.
-
The Fountainhead for True. Spiritual life is the birth of
-
the holy spirit. So the new birth of the Holy
-
Spirit. And so the God who saves you is
-
the same God who keeps you? It's the same God who matures
-
you throughout this life. And into eternity with him.
-
Amen, let's pray, Heavenly Father.
-
We love you. We thank you Lord for your word.
-
Thank you, God, for your kindness toward us in Christ and
-
that by the power of the Holy Spirit, you are creating new
-
life in US. and God we ask now, if there for anyone in here who
-
doesn't know you, Who has not surrendered themselves to you,
-
who does not receive new life, father?
-
Help them to see it. Help them to see their need
-
today, draw them to you Lord. By your spirit, I pray that you
-
caused them to ask for New Life. What helped them to receive new
-
life in Christ? And father for my brothers and
-
sisters in here. Those who have been born again.
-
Would you grant to us the ability to follow you?
-
Paul calls it living a life worthy of the Gospel that we've
-
received help us Lord, to live a life.
-
Worthy of the Gospel. We received help us to put off
-
the old man to put on the new man.
-
Help us to buy the spirit alive in us to Bear the Fruit of the
-
Spirit. God convict us of sin.
-
Grant us repentance. Grants us a soft heart.
-
Help us to receive your correction and your reproof and
-
our lives. Whether it's from a Believer or
-
from your words, straight from your mouth.
-
Help us to respond to you and faithfulness.
-
We love you. God, we praise you for the new
-
life that we've received. In Christ's name.
-
I pray. Amen.
