  1. My name is Kyle a service lead Pastor here.

  2. Want to say thanks for being here today.

  3. If you have your Bible with you you can open the John.

  4. The Gospel of John chapter 3. John 3 is where we'll be this

    John 3 chapter mention

  5. morning and our word. Or in God's word, in our Bibles,

  6. we are in the middle of a series called the law and the gospel

  7. and which we are exploring the relationship between the law

  8. versus The Gospel, which we've received in Christ Jesus.

  9. And the central theme of The Met of the messages has been, you

  10. must be born again. All right, so we're not good

  11. enough to measure up to the righteousness of Christ, apart

  12. from a work of God in us, rot in Us, by the Holy Spirit.

  13. That which comes to us through the Cross of Christ.

  14. Jesus, amen. So, Christ perfectly fulfills.

  15. The law in his death and his resurrection.

  16. He has torn the veil of the temple.

  17. So, to speak. So that we now can be ushered

  18. into the presence of God by the spirit of God, and that happens

  19. through New Birth. And so that's the relationship

  20. between the law and the gospel. The law does not save you.

  21. The gospel saves you, but as someone who's been saved by the

  22. Gospel of Jesus Christ, there must be holiness.

  23. Present in your life, there must be in you evidence that the

  24. spirit of God has made you knew. And so, that's what we've been

  25. talking about. Is how to be born again.

  26. What does this look like, we've been interacting with the text

  27. in John 3, which is an interaction between Jesus and

  28. Nicodemus. Nicodemus was a Pharisee, he was

  29. really a Pharisee of Pharisees. He was a member of the

  30. Sanhedrin, which was the ruling body of the Jews.

  31. Spiritually ruling body of the Jews, he He was a teacher of the

  32. law, Jesus, even references or calls him rather in John 3. 10,

  33. the teacher of Israel, he says, are you not the teacher of

  34. Israel? And you do not know these

  35. things. So, Nicodemus knows the word of

  36. God, and yet, he needed to be born again.

  37. Nicodemus was as religious as a man could be and yet he needed

  38. to be born again. And so, the message for all of

  39. us is you must be born again. The see the kingdom of God.

  40. You must be born again to enter the kingdom of God.

  41. Amen. When I ask you to do something,

  42. would you stand your feet as we read God's word this morning.

  43. If you're unable to that's fine. John chapter 3 verses 1 through

    John 3:1–6

  44. 6, we're going to focus specifically on verse 6, but I

  45. want to read one through five to help us, see the context of

  46. what's going on here. Now, there was a man of the

  47. Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.

  48. This man came to Jesus by night. Night and said to him.

  49. Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher.

  50. Come from, God, for no one. Can do these signs that you do.

  51. Unless God is with him and Jesus answered him.

  52. Truly truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he

  53. cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus said to him.

  54. How can a man be born when he is old?

  55. Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born

  56. and Jesus answered truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born

  57. of water and the spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

  58. Verse 6, Jesus continues. He says that which is born of

  59. the flesh is flesh and that, which is born of the spirit is

  60. spirit. Amen.

  61. And you may be seated. Well, I hope for us to see today

  62. is this and if you're taking notes, you can write this down.

  63. I want us to understand this Truth.

  64. The Fountainhead for True, spiritual life is the birth of

  65. the holy spirit's The Fountainhead for True.

  66. Spiritual life is the birth of the holy spirit.

  67. Let me pray for us before we go any further.

  68. Heavenly Father, we thank you for your word.

  69. We thank you. That is living and active and

  70. sharper than any double-edged sword.

  71. It's about a pierce down to the depths of who we are and it

  72. discerns in US, truth and falsity.

  73. And father, we ask that you would help us to see Christ

  74. today by your spirit, open our hearts, and our minds, and our

  75. eyes, and our ears to hear. And to see, and to understand

  76. and to love your son, Jesus. Lord move our will to want to do

  77. your work in this world, in Christ's name, we pray.

  78. Amen. Amen.

  79. One of the foundational truths of nature was of all things that

  80. exist. Is this that like produces like

  81. this, this truth is woven into the design of all that God has

  82. created. For example, you cannot grow an

  83. apple tree with the seeds of a tomato plants, right?

  84. You plant a tomato. Plants and you will get a tomato

  85. plant if you know what you're doing, right?

  86. Right. And when you plant an apple

  87. tree, we throw those seeds into the ground.

  88. You don't expect to have a towering redwood tree, right?

  89. You planted an apple tree and so you expect to get an apple tree

  90. like produces like your dog will not give birth to a cat.

  91. Humans will not produce a giraffe, right?

  92. Like produces like the same thing is true in the spiritual

  93. world. As we have seen in previous

  94. weeks when the Holy Spirit regenerates the human heart, he

  95. produces a holy life in the soul like produces light.

  96. The spirit produces Spirits, nothing else, can produce

  97. spiritual life, except the Living God, because nothing else

  98. is spiritual like God. Nothing else is able to cause

  99. spiritual birth as God is able to cause it.

  100. And so that is why I say that The Fountainhead.

  101. Ed for True, spiritual life. The thing that's going to happen

  102. in your life that's going to Spring forth.

  103. The Fruit of the Spirit In You. The Fountainhead for True.

  104. Spiritual life is the new birth of the holy spirit.

  105. It's the new birth of the Holy Spirit.

  106. And so when the word of God has planted like a seed in the human

  107. soul, this is sorry. So through this series, we've

  108. been referencing Lawson's book. This is a quote from Stephen

  109. Lawson. Start it over when the word of

  110. God has planted like a seed in the human soul.

  111. The Holy Spirit acts, by The Sovereign, will of the father

  112. and creates new life in the spiritually dead.

  113. This new life is spiritual life because it is created by the

  114. Holy Spirit. Again, like produces, like this

  115. is what Jesus is making clear to Nicodemus in John. 3:6 Nicodemus

    John 3:6

  116. is asking how can this be? How can a man enter into his?

  117. Mother's womb, right? It can't happen.

  118. So how can a man be reborn? And Jesus is saying, look, that

  119. which is born of the flesh is flesh.

  120. And that, which is born of the spirit is spirit.

  121. So, the flesh, Jesus is saying, can only become more flesh.

  122. It can only create more flesh when you were of the Flesh and

  123. you are not yet, Spirit born. You can only produce works of

  124. the flesh. You cannot produce works of the

  125. spirit, you are bound to the flesh.

  126. Amen. And so on.

  127. And is born from a woman, right? Flesh, produces flesh.

  128. And so when a man is born of a woman, we saw this a few weeks

  129. ago, we looked at Genesis chapter, I believe it was for

  130. it, might be five. Actually, what we see there is

  131. that, as Adam as Seth was born to Adam, it says that he was

  132. born in the image and likeness of Adam meaning, not that he

  133. wasn't in the image and likeness of God, just that he now had

  134. that since stained soul that sins.

  135. Stained nature. He was corrupted by his birth.

  136. He was born in the image and likeness of his father.

  137. Adam. And so to have we've been born

  138. in the image and likeness of our father, Adam And this is one of

  139. the truths that we must know, the spirit produces.

  140. However, the spirit produces only that, which is spiritual

  141. because he belongs to the spiritual realm, he belongs to

  142. God. He is God, Jesus is not only

  143. making a claim that is foundational to Creation.

  144. He's making a claim that is foundational to understanding

  145. how a person must be reborn. How this takes place, he is

  146. telling Nicodemus about his spiritual, Ins that which is

  147. born of Flesh. Nicodemus is flesh.

  148. He's exposing him. He's showing where his

  149. limitations rest Nicodemus is thinking, if I'm, if anyone is

  150. close to God, it must be me. And Jesus is saying that, which

  151. is born of the flesh is flesh. He's already told him.

  152. You cannot see the kingdom of God.

  153. Unless you're born again. You cannot enter the kingdom of

  154. God unless you are born again. Jesus is talking about the human

  155. nature, not simply Being Human. He's talking now about the

  156. nature of a human being The whole nature of man is here

  157. condemned in a single word from Jesus Christ, that which is born

  158. of the flesh, is flesh in your flesh.

  159. You can never make yourself spiritual on your own.

  160. You are corrupted by your flesh. Your reason your ability to

  161. reason your ability to understand is corrupted by your

  162. flesh. All of the affections of your

  163. heart are wicked and In a word. You are carnal and nature.

  164. Not spiritual you are corrupted because of your father, Abraham.

  165. This is who you are before Christ.

  166. Now, that's not to say that there's not some evidence of

  167. goodness in the person who is still corrupted by his sin

  168. nature, but there is no evidence of righteousness.

  169. There's no evidence of true godliness.

  170. There's no evidence of a spiritual rebirth just As we

  171. might look at an unbeliever and say well, he's a good person.

  172. This is not mean that he is a saved person.

  173. It's not mean that he is a new creation in Christ, naturally.

  174. A man does possess some knowledge of God.

  175. This is the way that God has wired him, why?

  176. So that he will have an affection for God, he is created

  177. to worship God. And though, our worship is

  178. corrupted by our sin, our worship is corrupted by our evil

  179. desires or worship is fixated on other things, besides God, other

  180. people, besides God. We are no.

  181. No less created to worship. Amen.

  182. It's just our affections of our harder wrong.

  183. The longings of our heart are evil.

  184. And so, we look upon a man and we say, well, he's got some

  185. natural knowledge of God. He's got some understanding.

  186. This is true. God says, as much in Romans

    Romans 1 chapter mention

  187. chapter 1 There is in a man, some distinction of Good and

  188. Evil and Grave and on his conscience, right?

  189. He knows them the nature of Good and Evil.

  190. An unbeliever can look upon a horrific Act of.

  191. Let's say, murder and say, that's wrong.

  192. Well, by what standard is it wrong?

  193. Well, it's wrong by the standard of God.

  194. God has declared murder evil and so when a person Sin looks Upon

  195. A murder, whether they're a Believer or not and says that's

  196. evil. That's wrong, they're declaring

  197. that. God is true, even though they

  198. don't know it. They have an understanding of

  199. God even though they have no saving knowledge of him.

  200. Yet. This is what again,

  201. Ecclesiastes, 3 verse 11 is saying that God has put into the

    Ecclesiastes 3:11

  202. heart of every man. A sense of Eternity.

  203. Yet, in such a way that he cannot find out who God is on

  204. his own. God must reveal himself to us

  205. but naturally there's an understanding of Good and Evil

  206. naturally in a man his faculties his ability.

  207. To move and to work and to think.

  208. And to reason all of these things are sufficient for

  209. maintaining life, unbelievers can be good, maintainers of

  210. Life, they can be good workers and their jobs, they can be a

  211. good husband and a good wife as much as we might call it good,

  212. right. We're not saying righteous just

  213. as soon as evidences of God's grace in their life.

  214. However, mankind is completely polluted by his human nature.

  215. This doesn't mean that every person is as depraved as he

  216. could be right, we would look at some people, you know, the

  217. low-hanging fruits of History like Hitler.

  218. And we would look at people like that and we would say well that

  219. man was as corrupt as he could be.

  220. Well, it might be true. That God had actually removed

  221. his hand from Hitler and let him run headlong into his depraved

  222. nature without any restriction whereas for others, God may

  223. still be restricting them. But it doesn't mean that they're

  224. not polluted by their nature. Still polluted. it means that

  225. every aspect of the Human Nature has been corrupted by the deadly

  226. poison of sin because flesh gives birth to flesh like

  227. produces like Likewise Jesus says that, which is born of the

  228. spirit is Spirit there in verse 6.

  229. Jesus saying that the holy spirit gives life to the human

  230. heart, that which is born of the spirit, capitalists were talking

  231. about the spirit of God is Spirit.

  232. We might say, is spiritual is able to be spiritual has now

  233. been created by the spirit, born of the spirit to follow the

  234. spirit. Amen.

  235. This new nature from God, operates in the kingdom of God.

  236. Not in the Kingdom of the world like produces like.

  237. And so the spirit has Produced the spirits in a person during

  238. the New Birth. So if you're going to have

  239. eternal life, if you're going to experience eternal life, you're

  240. going to know eternal life today.

  241. The hope of it. And then one day experience it.

  242. After you've breathed your last breath, that will happen because

  243. the holy spirit is the only one who created that in you because

  244. the Holy Spirit gave you new life.

  245. No human being can create a spiritual life for himself or

  246. herself. It's not possible.

  247. The new birth belongs to God Alone.

  248. He causes it by the work of his Spirit within you.

  249. Again, Lawson is hopeful here. He says, if you were born again,

  250. this is what God did within you within your hearts regeneration

  251. dramatically transformed. You at the deepest level, this

  252. change was from the inside out. You were immediately transferred

  253. from spiritual death to spiritual life, you suddenly

  254. passed from Darkness. He's too light.

  255. This change was so dramatic. He goes on to say that you

  256. became a new creation. This God, given birth altered,

  257. the fundamental nature of your mind and your affections and

  258. your will amen. So we might ask, how

  259. comprehensive is the new birth to what lengths does?

  260. The new birth go in someone's life around here we talk about

  261. things like growing up into the image and likeness of Christ.

  262. As we behold Christ, we are becoming more and more like him

  263. until the day where we see him in full and we are in an instant

  264. transformed into the perfect image of Christ.

  265. Around here, we talk about how that takes time and it takes a

  266. renewed commitment to the Lord daily efforts on your end to

  267. become more like Christ. It may even happen faster in

  268. your life at times and slower at other times you might feel like

  269. you're in the desert for a while and then all of a sudden you

  270. know the new mercies of God as a flowing river in your life.

  271. The truth is that the Christian Life is a series of ups and

  272. downs. It's a daily walk with the Lord.

  273. That is both suffering and joy. You experience, pain and

  274. affliction in the Christian Life.

  275. You experience deep hurts for, which you may never know.

  276. Peace on fully until you see Christ in heaven and you

  277. experience great Joys which the world could not comprehend in

  278. Christ, and that's what happens. Is, you commit yourself daily to

  279. the Lord. It's a waxing and waning at

  280. times. It's a ability to notice your

  281. sin and to confess it and to put it off.

  282. And then it's the inability at times to see any of that and to

  283. be hard-headed. And then to realize, Oh my

  284. goodness. I've made some mistakes.

  285. I need the grace of God to save my soul, I need the grace of God

  286. to heal me whole right now. Amen.

  287. If you've walked with the Lord for more than 10 minutes you

  288. know that what I'm saying is true So, how comprehensive

  289. though is the new birth? If we're saying that we're

  290. growing, and we're being grown, if we're saying we're saved yet,

  291. we're being saved. If we sang that we are

  292. Sanctified yet, were being Sanctified, how comprehensive is

  293. the new birth? What is taking place in the new

  294. birth? Well, there's a helpful again,

  295. quote here in the book. A healthy baby.

  296. It's an illustration, really a healthy.

  297. Baby is born into this world with all of its body parts.

  298. All right, there's two arms, there's two legs.

  299. There's two eyes. Go on and on and on right.

  300. That's what a healthy baby would look like these different body

  301. parts do not come in stages, over a period of time, right?

  302. A healthy baby is not born with legs and then later developing

  303. arms and hands and feet. We're not celebrating the growth

  304. of new legs at 15 months old, right?

  305. Typically we have already celebrated crawling and walking

  306. by then every healthy baby, arrives, with all the needed

  307. body parts. And the same is true in the New

  308. Birth by the spirit of God. God immediately works in the

  309. whole of your nature and the and all that.

  310. You are, he renews your minds. He reorients your affections, he

  311. redirects your will, and it's not that our minds are changed,

  312. but not our emotions and our will It's not that your emotions

  313. are changed and then your mind and your will will follow at

  314. some point in the future. It's that you have a new mind, a

  315. new will a new heart. And God has transformed.

  316. Every aspect of you into a new creation at the same time and so

  317. you were like a baby with all of its healthy body parts, yet all

  318. of the same need to mature and grow up in Christ.

  319. Amen. To learn how to crawl to learn

  320. how to walk and talk to learn how to verbalize your heart, and

  321. your feelings. You are a new creation, but you

  322. need growth, you need to mature, and so we're not.

  323. Waiting on hands and feet and eyeballs.

  324. And a new mind, a new affections.

  325. We have those things but now it's time to cultivate maturity

  326. and this is what the spirit of God has done in you.

  327. He's made you a brand new spiritual baby.

  328. You're an infant in Christ. And he's also going to grow you

  329. up. He's going to mature you.

  330. It's a long walk in the same Direction.

  331. That's What faithful discipleship looks like.

  332. It's following God. Daily walking in the same

  333. direction over a long period of time until you attain the

  334. maturity of Christ. And you'll experience highs and

  335. lows. As I mentioned a moment ago,

  336. once you are corrupted and now you are uncorrupted, once you

  337. walked a crooked path but now you desire to walk the straight

  338. path once your desires were polluted but now they are holy

  339. once you were contaminated by your sin but now you are pure by

  340. the blood of Christ. I do not mean that there is no

  341. work left for you to do. Whether I mean that you have all

  342. the necessary body parts to live a spiritual life to grow into

  343. mature in Christ. Because the New Birth, you have

  344. received by the grace of God has come to you through his divine

  345. power in the holy spirit. Amen.

  346. And so the spiritual birth is the reverse of the curse in

  347. Genesis chapter 3. In Genesis chapter 3, we read

Genesis 3 chapter mention Genesis 3 chapter mention

  348. that man has fallen because of his desire to be God.

  349. Adam and Eve disobeyed God. And so now we were born as I

  350. mentioned earlier, in flesh, with fleshly desires, a

  351. corrupted nature. And the spiritual birth in is

  352. the reverse of this curse of depravity that we have on us.

  353. The spiritual birth is The Fountainhead of true spiritual

  354. life. Sin ruined you, but the spirit

  355. of God is renewing, every part of your inner being and the new

  356. birth. You have a new king.

  357. Once you were the Lord of your heart, the Lord of your mind,

  358. the Lord of your soul. But now you serve the one true

  359. Living God, He reigns over your entire life.

  360. This is the greatest change that you could ever experience in

  361. your entire life. Nicodemus should have known

  362. something about these truths. It's a teacher as the teacher of

  363. Israel as a man of God's word is a man of the Old Testament.

  364. He would have been aware of such text as we've looked at already

  365. Ezekiel 36 and earlier weeks, God had established the truth of

  366. the new birth in the Old Testament.

  367. What God is doing in Christ. What he's revealing through

  368. Christ in John chapter 3 is just a fulfillment of things.

    John 3 chapter mention

  369. He had said he was going to do. It's the long-awaited Messiah is

  370. the long-awaited Redemption. It's the true freedom from sin

  371. and death and Ezekiel. 11 verse 19, God says, through Ezekiel,

    Ezekiel 11:19

  372. there, he said, I will give them one heart and a new spirit, I

  373. will put within them. I will remove the Heart of Stone

  374. from their flesh and give them a heart of Flesh and that's the

  375. promise for all who come to God through faith is that he will

  376. remove Your Heart of Stone and give you a heart of Flesh.

  377. When you come to God through faith in Christ Jesus.

  378. If you receive a brand new life, you are made a brand new

  379. creation, all of your sins are put on Christ Jesus alone and

  380. you are saved forever more. Amen.

  381. God in fatica lie here. Lawson says, I've got

  382. emphatically speaks of the fully integrated thorough.

  383. Nature of the new birth. Only God working by his Spirit.

  384. Can execute this extraordinary claim.

  385. New religion cannot manufacture a new heart.

  386. No church can conceive this new life.

  387. No, Pastor or evangelist can cause this in someone.

  388. No Christian parent can transfer this to his or her child.

  389. God Alone can Give this new heart, the Creator alone can

  390. create new life in the soul. And so by saying I will remove

  391. the Heart of Stone from their flesh and Ezekiel God is giving

  392. us some insight into what Christ means by that which is born of

  393. the spirit is Spirit. Lawson goes on to say that a

  394. Heart of Stone is hardened toward God cold and without love

  395. for him, a Heart of Stone refuses to submit to God's will

  396. a Stony heart is stubborn. It is self willed, it is

  397. indifferent towards the spiritual things of God, it is

  398. life. lifeless, the entire life is opposed to God when you have

  399. a hard heart when you have a Heart of Stone, Austin goes on

  400. to say though this heart may want the blessings that God

  401. provides it does not want God himself.

  402. Those with such a heart only want to use God for their own

  403. selfish ends. For worldly things that he can

  404. give them. This is like a toxic

  405. relationship, where a man. Only uses a woman for what she

  406. can give him physically. Such is selfish, lust, not

  407. sacrificial, love, and even so the old heart merely desires to

  408. manipulate and use God not to love and serve him.

  409. And so we hear these things, we read these things.

  410. We see what Christ is saying here, and we must understand

  411. that we're in need of spiritual surgery.

  412. And it's a surgery that only the only the god of Heaven and

  413. Earth, the Creator can accomplish each of us must

  414. recognize our need for the new birth, no matter what your

  415. history is, no matter how, church-going you've been, no

  416. matter how perfect your attendance has been, no matter

  417. how great It, you are memorizing scriptures, you learned as a

  418. child. You are in need of a new heart.

  419. It is impossible to love God with a Heart of Stone.

  420. But in the New Birth, God takes Your Heart of Stone.

  421. He gives you a heart of Flesh. And with that heart of Flesh,

  422. you were now able to love God. Your heart beats for him, your

  423. affections long for him. And this is the only way to love

  424. God. Because The Fountainhead for

  425. True spiritual life is the birth of the Holy Spirit, the new

  426. birth of the Holy Spirit. Ezekiel helps us Define.

  427. What happens when we receive a new heart from God In The

  428. Rebirth of the spirit? While some points out for, I

  429. think it's four things here. We receive a heart of Flesh.

  430. First, Ezekiel tells us that you receive a heart of Flesh in the

  431. New Birth. He says I will give them a heart

  432. of Flesh. Your old heart was dead towards

  433. God, but your new heart is alive toward him.

  434. Your heart beats for him, The Fountainhead Springs forth into

  435. your entire life. You were glad to respond to the

  436. promises and the commands of God's word.

  437. Newhart loves God and puts his kingdom.

  438. First. You are a new creation because

  439. you have received a new spiritual heart from the spirit

  440. of God. The second thing we see about a

  441. new heart is that we receive an undivided heart.

  442. Every True Believer receives a new heart.

  443. That is one heart as Ezekiel says.

  444. This means that your heart of flesh is an undivided heart.

  445. It's not a heart of Flesh and a Heart of Stone simultaneously.

  446. It's a heart of Flesh that is putting to death, the Heart of

  447. Stone, you are not interested in another Master, whether it's

  448. someone or something, you serve, Your Allegiance is to the one

  449. true Living God. And you've pledged it to him

  450. alone. To the Hebrews as they receive

  451. this word from Ezekiel. The heart represents the center

  452. of all that a man. Is it represents his entire

  453. inner most being? So when they read, we're going

  454. to get a new heart. We're getting a new life.

  455. We're getting new insides. We're being transformed

  456. completely. There's nothing left of the old

  457. man. Everything is new.

  458. And so when you are regenerated by God, all things become new

  459. You receive a new mind in which you can now know God before you

  460. knew some things about, God, whether you knew it or not.

  461. But now you can know God with everything that you are.

  462. When you receive a new heart, this undivided heart has new

  463. affections to love God with your desire is for him.

  464. You have new Ambitions and new hungers, and new thirst.

  465. The Divine gift of the new birth makes every single thing inside

  466. of you brand-new. Amen.

  467. We receive a United heart. Third thing, we see, is that we

  468. receive a United heart. I will put a new spirit.

  469. Within them in Ezekiel 11:19 regeneration gives you a new

    Ezekiel 11:19

  470. spirit and that, which is born of the spirit, is Spirit, this

  471. new spirit directs your mind directs, your thoughts and

  472. perspectives. You receive new attitudes and

  473. priorities, and inclinations, and desires within your soul,

  474. much of that we've covered. And as a new creation in Christ,

  475. you are now United to Christ. Amen.

  476. Your heart is united with him and you're not only United with

  477. Christ. And in this horizontal or sorry

  478. in the sense of up and down, right?

  479. But you're a United with Christ sideways, your United with

  480. Believers brothers and sisters in the Lord and now you can

  481. follow Christ together. So you are united to Christ and

  482. to the body of Christ, amen. You're not alone ever.

  483. Ever are you alone in this world?

  484. You will face all of those hardships, all of those ups and

  485. downs. I mentioned earlier.

  486. You face all of that with the one true Living God by your

  487. side. Leading you making known to you

  488. the path of Life. David says, in psalm 16, at his

  489. right hand are Pleasures forevermore.

  490. That's how you walk through life and you get to do it side by

  491. side, with one another encouraging one another

  492. Depending on one another. Because this is how God has

  493. wired your new hearts. Next, we see that we receive a

  494. spirit and dwelled heart and the new birth God places his holy

  495. spirit, into your soul. God himself comes to abide with

  496. you, and when you are Spirit or born of his Spirit, you are with

  497. God because God is in you. That's what Christ says, in the

  498. latter part of John, I think it's 14.

  499. May be 16, but Jesus is talking about what the holy spirit will

  500. do this comforter, who will come, and he says that he will

  501. dwell in you and that the father and the son will dwell in you.

  502. They dwell in you because of the Holy Spirit, you are now the

  503. Temple of the Living. God your body is the Temple of

  504. the Living. God Lawson says, because of his

  505. indwelling presence, our new lives in Christ or lived in the

  506. all sufficient power of God, the same Spirit, who convicts us

  507. also calls us and that he is the one conforming us into the image

  508. of Christ. The spirit causes us to desire

  509. and pursue personal Holiness. On a daily basis.

  510. We are not merely made alive, but then left to live the

  511. Christian Life on our own to the contrary.

  512. God gives us his Spirit to supernaturally.

  513. Enable us to function in this new life with him without his

  514. regenerating Grace. We would be unable to live as

  515. God intends us to live. Finally, we see that we receive

  516. an obedience heart. In your new life.

  517. You owe you love to obey God. This is why Jesus says if you

  518. love me obey my Commandments Your Love, show your love is

  519. shown in your obedience. And so we love to obey God by

  520. following his will. This is part of what the spirit

  521. does. In US, it creates a life that is

  522. now oriented toward God. It happens instantly, and it

  523. happens over time, instantly, you have new desires to obey,

  524. God, and over time. Those desires are sharpened and

  525. honed. As you encounter more of God's

  526. truth in his word, the spirit redeemed, your old life of

  527. Disobedience, he creates a new, a new desire for faithful

  528. obedience. You once hey, Added God's law.

  529. But now you find the life and following the law, you desire to

  530. keep it. The that only happens because

  531. you've received a new heart from the spirit of God.

  532. Again Lawson's, helpful here. He says, as soon as the spirit

  533. creates new life in you, a new walk with God, begins in the

  534. pursuit of Holiness. Wherever there is regeneration,

  535. there will be growth and sanctification.

  536. There is no such thing as a Believer who has been born

  537. again, who is not also growing. In sanctification of the spirit

  538. of the Lord is there is freedom, amen.

  539. If you're curious about that read Romans 1 One through eight,

  540. but especially hone in on six, seven and eight.

  541. There is no such thing as being able to walk in the flesh and

  542. walk in the spirit. When you were free by the spirit

  543. of God, you are free from sin. Amen.

  544. It doesn't mean that you're not putting to death old habits.

  545. I'm not saying that I'm saying. There will be growth.

  546. There will be transformation, it'll be noticeable.

  547. It'll be noticeable. And so, a new heart will always

  548. produce a lifestyle of obedience to God Lawson finishes.

  549. Their, it's important to remember that the work of the

  550. new birth is God's work. It's his work alone.

  551. While you were still a sinner, God say Hugh, You deserve death,

  552. but God gives you life while you were running away from God, he

  553. is drawing you near to himself. In fact, I love to hear these

  554. stories of people who thoughts all that time.

  555. I was running and running and running from God, only to find

  556. out that all of those steps. They were taking away from God

  557. were leading them to God. In the end, God is able to save

  558. to the uttermost all of those who draw near to him.

  559. Through Christ. Amen.

  560. By the power of His Hand, you receive salvation from your sins

  561. and a new life in Christ Jesus. And so I must ask today.

  562. Have you received a heart transplant?

  563. Have you been given a new heart from God?

  564. Have you felt new longings for God?

  565. have you felt new desires for Holiness within you desire to

  566. put away the old man, the old whoever you are and to take on

  567. the new man, Do you see this new obedience to the word of God

  568. that we've talked about today? Maybe you don't know it fully

  569. again, this is happening in stages, we were talking about

  570. this in biblical manhood on Thursday night.

  571. How you can it is possible to go headlong into sin and not

  572. realize it at times because you're just, you're ignorant of

  573. what God's word says. And so until someone talks to

  574. you about it. So someone says Hey Brother.

  575. This is not the correct way to live as a Christian here, is

  576. what God says about this here is how you can have freedom.

  577. Here is, how you can depend on the Lord to overcome these

  578. things. And then we get to see how a man

  579. responds, right? If a man responds Faithfully by

  580. putting to death, his sin working towards Holiness, and we

  581. can say, the spirit of God is in that man.

  582. But if a man puts up his hand and he hardens his heart, and he

  583. runs as far away from sound Council as he can, we have right

  584. to question whether or not the spirit of God is actually alive

  585. in him. We need to belong to God.

  586. We need to have a desire for obedience. and so, if this new

  587. life is not happened in you, Ask God to cause you to be born

  588. again, ask God to Grant You a New Life.

  589. You bring God your sin and you humbly ask for New Life In

  590. Christ and he brings you eternal life by his mercy and Grace.

  591. There's no greater change, you could ever experience.

  592. When God takes your old Heart of Stone, and he gives to you a

  593. heart of Flesh, you will be made completely new.

  594. You will never be the same again.

  595. Ask him for a new heart because this is a prayer that he loves

  596. to answer. If God has changed your hearts,

  597. if you sit here today and you say, Kyle, I I know these

  598. affections, I know these new desires, I want to obey the

  599. Lord. I want to follow him then.

  600. Praise God Rejoice. That you have been saved by the

  601. hand of God that he's granted. You new life and his spirits and

  602. continue to walk with him. Daily continue to put away the

  603. old man into walk in holiness. Can you to read his word each

  604. day? Pray to him, depend on him.

  605. Be involved in your church, get to know other.

  606. Believers, especially those who were more mature in the Lord

  607. than you are learn from them, ask them questions, ask them

  608. about their marriage, their parenting, ask them about their

  609. faith, through difficult trials, ask them, what was your most

  610. difficult moment of your life and how did the Lord see you

  611. through it? Ask them their greatest

  612. victories. And listen, learn from one

  613. another. You've been given a family in

  614. God, the Christian life is not meant to be individualistic.

  615. It's meant to be lived out in community with others.

  616. And so you can ask and groups you can ask in one-on-ones.

  617. There's not, I've called many of you up.

  618. There's not many in here who won't go to coffee.

  619. If you call them, they won't go to lunch if you ask them.

  620. Everybody wants to talk about the Lord asked them.

  621. The Fountainhead for True. Spiritual life is the birth of

  622. the holy spirit. So the new birth of the Holy

  623. Spirit. And so the God who saves you is

  624. the same God who keeps you? It's the same God who matures

  625. you throughout this life. And into eternity with him.

  626. Amen, let's pray, Heavenly Father.

  627. We love you. We thank you Lord for your word.

  628. Thank you, God, for your kindness toward us in Christ and

  629. that by the power of the Holy Spirit, you are creating new

  630. life in US. and God we ask now, if there for anyone in here who

  631. doesn't know you, Who has not surrendered themselves to you,

  632. who does not receive new life, father?

  633. Help them to see it. Help them to see their need

  634. today, draw them to you Lord. By your spirit, I pray that you

  635. caused them to ask for New Life. What helped them to receive new

  636. life in Christ? And father for my brothers and

  637. sisters in here. Those who have been born again.

  638. Would you grant to us the ability to follow you?

  639. Paul calls it living a life worthy of the Gospel that we've

  640. received help us Lord, to live a life.

  641. Worthy of the Gospel. We received help us to put off

  642. the old man to put on the new man.

  643. Help us to buy the spirit alive in us to Bear the Fruit of the

  644. Spirit. God convict us of sin.

  645. Grant us repentance. Grants us a soft heart.

  646. Help us to receive your correction and your reproof and

  647. our lives. Whether it's from a Believer or

  648. from your words, straight from your mouth.

  649. Help us to respond to you and faithfulness.

  650. We love you. God, we praise you for the new

  651. life that we've received. In Christ's name.

  652. I pray. Amen.
