  1. Well, good evening. How are you good?

  2. It's good to see you guys tonight.

  3. I'm not sure. But I think with the wait, we've

  4. got over here. The sanctuary May kind of tip

  5. over, so you'll just be careful on that side.

  6. All right, it's good to see you guys tonight.

  7. I'm glad that you're here. This is a unique service for us

  8. and, and we're really what we're after is just focusing on the

  9. Crucifixion of Christ. Sunday is a joyous day and and

  10. honestly we you know we worship each week on Sundays because

  11. Christ rose on the first day of the week.

  12. And so that's why that happened, you know, in Acts to begin

  13. meeting on the first day of the week.

  14. And so, so we really each Sunday.

  15. We're celebrating the resurrection.

  16. And each Sunday, we're preaching the cross, right?

  17. I mean, so in many ways, what we do this weekend is not

  18. drastically different from what we do every weekend, praise God.

  19. But it certainly comes with an extra emphasis, right?

  20. It's kind of like Christmas time in the sense that your senses

  21. are heightened toward what's going on, right?

  22. You're thinking a little bit about Good Friday and, and the

  23. goodness of the Friday, And then really the tragedy of the Friday

  24. that blood had to be shed. And so tonight, as we do this,

  25. we've got songs that are that are queued up for us to worship

  26. with that hopefully are somewhat familiar to you.

  27. Most of them are hymns and they're reflecting on the cross

  28. of Christ. His crucifixion, his death, his

  29. The Ransom that he's paid for us salvation, we have in him alone.

  30. And so tonight, that's what we're here for, and will receive

  31. communion toward the end of the service tonight.

  32. But I invite you to reflect on the Lord to think on him to

  33. remember the cross to praise him for it, by it.

  34. We are we're saved. And then there's been a

  35. Appreciation made for our sins, been a payment made for our

  36. sins. And so I'm going to begin

  37. tonight. I'm going to read Isaiah 53.

  38. And then I'm just going to pray for us but the the words will be

  39. on the screen behind me here and you just kind of read along not

  40. out loud but it's going to follow along as I'm reading this

  41. hopefully to help kind of Center our mind on the suffering

  42. servant. So here we have a prophecy, some

  43. 700 or so years before. Christ, walk the earth talking

  44. about The death of Christ prophesied that the Messiah

  45. would come that he would suffer and that by him many could be

  46. redeemed, many could receive righteousness.

  47. And so let's read this first one here who has believed what he

  48. has heard from us and to whom has the arm of the Lord been

  49. revealed. For he grew up before him like a

  50. young plant and like a root out of dry ground.

  51. He had no form or Majesty that we should look at him and no

  52. beauty that we should desire him.

  53. He was despised and rejected by Men, A Man of Sorrows and

  54. acquainted with grief. And as one from whom men hide

  55. their faces, he was despised and we esteemed him not surely.

  56. He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, yet.

  57. We esteemed him stricken Smitten by God, and afflicted.

  58. Flicked it, but he was pierced for our transgressions.

  59. He was crushed for our iniquities upon him.

  60. Was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his

  61. wounds, we are healed. All we like sheep have gone

  62. astray. We have turned everyone to his

  63. own way and the lord has laid on him.

  64. The iniquity of us all he was oppressed and he was afflicted

  65. yet. He opened.

  66. Not his mouth like a lamb that is led to the slaughter and like

  67. a sheep that before. It's Shearer's is silent.

  68. So he opened not his mouth by oppression and judgment.

  69. He was taken away and as for his generation who considered him

  70. that I'm sorry, who considered that he was cut off out of the

  71. land of the living stricka--. In, for the transgression of my

  72. people. And they made his grave with the

  73. wicked and with the rich man in his death.

  74. Although he had done no violence and there was no deceit in his

  75. mouth. Yet, it was the will of the

  76. Lord. To crush him.

  77. He has put him to grief. When his soul makes an offering

  78. for Guilt, he shall see his offspring.

  79. He shall prolong his days and the will of the Lord shall

  80. prosper in his hand. How did the anguish of his soul?

  81. He shall see and be satisfied by his knowledge.

  82. Shall the righteous one. My servant make many to be

  83. accounted, righteous and he shall bear their iniquities.

  84. Amen. Tonight, brothers and sisters.

  85. We worship Christ because he has borne our griefs.

  86. He has borne our sorrows. He has borne our iniquities.

  87. And by him, we have new life. Life.

  88. Amen. Let me pray for you and then

  89. we'll stand and will worship together.

  90. Heavenly Father, we praise you for the gift of your son Jesus.

  91. That suffering servant the one whom there was no deceit in his

  92. mouth, there was no sin within him.

  93. And yet father, he Eternal Son of God, he became Like Us in

  94. birth. Became fully human and fully.

  95. God, he put away the Comforts of Heaven.

  96. So that he might take on the cross as a sacrificial lamb,

  97. slain for our iniquity. That we might live forever more.

  98. My father tonight, we we consider the cross.

  99. We consider the guilt that was rightfully ours, and yet laid

  100. upon your son, Jesus. And it's with worship tonight

  101. that we approach your throne, it's with hearts of gratitude.

  102. God, we don't come shamefully before you, we come gratefully

  103. before. You, we know that our sin is

  104. gross that our sin is disgusting, that our sin demands

  105. death. And it is our savior who

  106. received death in our place. We praise you.

  107. Father for Christ, I praise you Lord for the work of him, the

  108. work of your grace, the work of your mercy that we have in the

  109. gospel. Help us Lord to be fortified in

  110. our trust in Jesus for the Forgiveness of our sins.

  111. Lord, we love you. Jesus, we thank you for your

  112. death and for your Resurrection. We thank you for bearing our

  113. iniquities for taking the wrath of God on yourself.

  114. That we might be free from sin forever.

  115. Holy Spirit, we ask you now to Enlighten our hearts to

  116. strengthen US during the service to plant deep gospel, roots and

  117. us, that would bear fruit from generation to generation.

  118. In Christ's name, we pray. Amen.

  119. Amen. Would you stand to your feet

  120. this evening? We're going to worship together.

  121. How Deep The Father's Love For Us, vast Beyond or manager that

  122. he should give his only son? To make a wretch, his treasure

  123. how great the pain of searing, or the father, turns his face

  124. away, as wounds, which Mar The Chosen One.

  125. Bring many sons to Glory. Glory.

  126. Behold the man upon a cross my sin upon his shoulders ashamed.

  127. I hear my mocking. The sky.

  128. It was my sin that held him there until it was accomplished.

  129. His dying breath, has brought me that it is

  130. It is very, it is in the past. I will not boast in anything.

  131. No gifts, no power, no wisdom. But I will boast in Jesus Christ

  132. and resurrect his reach. I cannot give an answer but this

  133. I know if I'm happy my right. Why should I gain from his

  134. reward? I cannot give an answer. but

  135. this I know if this is a know with all my

  136. heart, his words, I've paid my rent

  137. What a wondrous love. Is this O.

  138. My soul. O.

  139. My soul and receive love. Is this.

  140. O my soul. The Dreadful curse for my soul.

  141. My soul to Bear the Dreadful curse.

  142. Amen. You guys can have a seat.

  143. If you have your Bible, go ahead and turn to John chapter 19.

    John 19 chapter mention

  144. Look at John chapter 19 tonight briefly.

    John 19 chapter mention

  145. Anyway here, at the end of The Book of John.

  146. We have the, an account of the crucifixion, at least John's

  147. account of the crucifixion and. And so I wanted us to look at

  148. that tonight and make just a few observations about what the

  149. crucifixion reveals for us. And and so let me just read to

  150. you, John 19 or reach 16 through 22.

  151. To, to start. and so, he Delivered him over to them to be

  152. crucified. And so they took Jesus and he

  153. went out bearing his own cross to the place called the place of

  154. a skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha.

  155. There They Crucified him. And with him two others, one on

  156. either side, and Jesus between them pilot.

  157. Also wrote an inscription, and put it on the cross.

  158. It read Jesus of Nazareth, the king of the Jews.

  159. Many of the Jews read this inscription for the place where

  160. Jesus was crucified was near the city and it was written in

  161. Aramaic and Latin and in Greek. And so it went out this message,

  162. went out to everyone in the area And so, the chief Priests of the

  163. Jews said to pilate, do not write the king of the Jews, but

  164. rather, this man said, I am the king of the Jews.

  165. The Jews would have thought, this is a necessary distinction

  166. because They're not going to want to be responsible for

  167. crucifying the king of the Jews, but rather They Crucified him

  168. because by their estimation, he was blasphemous.

  169. Pilate answered what I have written.

  170. I have written. I like his response.

  171. These first few verses that we look at here in this passage,

  172. they reveal to us the humiliated King. here we see a humiliated

  173. King and we've missed some Of the passage about his what led

  174. up to the crucifixion. The things that he endured, on

  175. the way to the cross. But what would have happened is

  176. when he was delivered to the soldiers to be crucified, the

  177. soldiers would have taken him and scourged him.

  178. This was known as the Roman verbier, Otto It's the most

  179. horrible kind of beating the scourging was often called the

  180. halfway death because you were halfway there by the time it was

  181. over. Jesus would have been on his

  182. knees hands tied down. He would have been whipped with

  183. the deadly flag room, which is a Whip made of multiple leather

  184. strands with bone and metal attached to it meant for tearing

  185. the skin, especially the skin on the back, which would be up

  186. against the cross as a man hung on it.

  187. After the scourging they would have made Christ, they did make

  188. Christ carry his cross. As the customary action of a

  189. Roman crucifixion is to have to carry your cross y.

  190. If you parade around a man who has broken the law of Rome,

  191. You're less likely to have people break the laws of Rome,

  192. right? You advertise his punishment,

  193. you advertise his crucifixion, And so it would have been a

  194. parade of sorts. They would have taken the long

  195. route just so that more could see more could be warned against

  196. breaking the laws of Rome. Upon arriving at the place of a

  197. skull, the gotha Christ would have been laid on the Cross

  198. Beam. His hands would have been

  199. quickly nailed into the cross, then he would be raised up and

  200. his feet would be dangling until the soldiers drove a nail

  201. through both feet. leaving him just enough Flex in his knees,

  202. to begin the horrible up and down motion necessary, for

  203. breathing, that is with whatever strength you can muster, you

  204. remove that asphyxiation for a moment, as you Propel yourself

  205. upward by whatever strength is left in your legs for as long as

  206. you can, You can imagine this would be hard to do when you

  207. can't breathe correctly. That's horrifying, is all of

  208. that is and it is horrifying. This is nothing compared to the

  209. moment where our sins were poured out on him.

  210. And in that moment he experienced a separation from

  211. the father that he had never known before.

  212. This is significant because the sun had always from eternity,

  213. past been in perfect harmony with the father. even to, This

  214. place now. Recall the moments of Christ in

  215. the Garden of Gethsemane before. He's arrested.

  216. And he's praying, Lord. If It Be Your Will, or father,

  217. if it be, your will take this cup from me.

  218. Nothing is impossible for you, but nevertheless not my will

  219. your will be done. Christ was committed. committed

  220. to obeying his father committed to the Redemption of mankind,

  221. committed to being that suffering servant that we

  222. started the service reading about And so he humbled himself

  223. it's what Philippians 2 tells us that he humbled himself taking

  224. on the form of man that he gave up.

  225. The glories of Heaven to become like us. so that He could die on

  226. a cross, so that we may be saved from our sin.

  227. And so, the king of kings was crucified.

  228. It's not merely the king of the Jews.

  229. This is the king of kings, who goes to the cross.

  230. And Pilots inscription that was put on the cross was meant to

  231. incite anger for the Jews. Like, he's meaning this too to

  232. make them angry because he was a bit upset by the whole thing.

  233. If you remember he washed his hands of this case.

  234. His blood is not on my hands. He said He wasn't sure that

  235. Jesus had done anything worthy of a crucifixion.

  236. And so it did in sight, the Jews.

  237. And but what pilot meant is a way to show ROM, security of

  238. superiority over the Jews, that we've crucified, the king of the

  239. Jews. John means for us to see the

  240. true Messianic King crucified for our sins.

  241. That this is the king of kings pilot.

  242. Unknowingly became God's Herald of redemption.

  243. He unknowingly is broadcasting to all of those in the area.

  244. That this is the messiah. And so Jesus humiliated to the

  245. point of death, he died as the king of an otherworldly Kingdom,

  246. a king from the king of a kingdom.

  247. That's not of this world. He died for the church, he died

  248. for his bride. He died for his body.

  249. He died. So that you and I can be made

  250. pure from our sin and to enjoy eternal life with him.

  251. Once for all time, if you skip down to verses 28 and 30 there

  252. in 19, It says this it says after this which is a moment

  253. where he's observing some soldiers below him, casting lots

  254. for his garments and he's seeing his mother there with some other

  255. ladies, but we get to this point.

  256. Now, we're says after this here in verse 28, Jesus knowing that

  257. all was now finished said to fulfill the scripture in

  258. parentheses. I thirst.

  259. And a Jar full of sour wine stood there.

  260. So they put a sponge full of the sour wine on the hyssop branch

  261. and held it to his mouth. When Jesus had received the sour

  262. wine, he said it is finished. And he bowed his head and he

  263. gave up his spirit. Crucifixion of Christ reveals

  264. redemptions completion. The Redemption is complete.

  265. It is finished but the jar of sour wine is is different.

  266. If you're familiar with the story, you know, about the wine

  267. that was mixed with myrrh that was offered to him which was a

  268. kind of sedative He's refusing anything that would make him and

  269. his physical body, not feel the weight of the cross, the pain,

  270. the suffering of the cross in that moment.

  271. And this is a different moment here, where the sour wine is

  272. offered for a different purpose. This wine is used to quench

  273. thirst, it's there for the soldiers who were working And

  274. it's there for them to drink, it's their, their Gatorade, if

  275. you will. But the theological logical

  276. significance of this moment is is really incredible.

  277. The sourwine reminds us of the cup that the father has for

  278. Jesus, right? If it be your will let this cup

  279. pass from me, was the phrasing that Christ used in the garden.

  280. The cop that Christ is talking about is the bitter cup of God's

  281. Wrath. And Christ having just drink the

  282. bitter cup of God's Wrath. Now, drinks the bitter wine.

  283. Jesus thirst was, The Thirst of the Messiah.

  284. We have in Psalm 22 a prophesy of Christ on the cross.

  285. And so much of what's written in Psalm 22 takes place.

  286. Including the words that Christ says takes place on the cross

  287. but here is the psalmist in Psalm 22 writing from the point

  288. of view prophecy this point of view of Christ and he's saying I

  289. am poured out like water and all my bones are out of joint.

  290. My heart is like Wax it is melted within my breast, my

  291. strength is dried up like a potsherd and my tongue To my

  292. jaws, you lay me in the dust of death, for dogs, and Compass me

  293. a company of evildoers. In circles me, they have

  294. pierced, my hands and feet, I can count all my bones they

  295. stare and gloat over me. They divided my garments among

  296. them. And for my clothing, they have

  297. cast lots. And so the thirst that Christ

  298. has is the thirst of the Messiah.

  299. It's the thirst. Of the one who is prophesied in

  300. Psalm 22, but The Thirst that he has is also our thirst.

  301. Jesus became thirsty for us, so that we would never thirst

  302. again. Amen.

  303. And John 4:14, he's visiting with the woman of Samaria and he

    John 4:14

  304. says this to hurry says, but whoever drinks the water that I

  305. will give him will never be thirsty again.

  306. The water that I will give him will become in him, a spring of

  307. water, welling up to eternal life.

  308. Now as we've been going through John 3, you know that this water

  309. is Is the spirit. It's a reference to the spirit

  310. of God that will dwell in a person.

  311. And now living water will spring up from them.

  312. But even more fascinating. Then maybe the sour wine and the

  313. fact that Christ is thirsty and he died to satisfy once for all

  314. our thirst even more fascinating is the fact that the wine is

  315. raised up on a hyssop branch. If you started a bible plan at

  316. the beginning of the year, you you probably made it at least

  317. through this part of Exodus right by now where you make it

  318. through the plagues and you remember the final plague,

  319. right? And exodus.

  320. God says, I'm going to kill the firstborn of every household Mel

  321. and animal firstborn. Male of both humans and animals

  322. of every household. And so he instructed Moses to

  323. have the Israelites, take the blood of a lamb and spread it

  324. over their doorposts. But do you know what they were

  325. told to spread it with hyssop branch.

  326. Hyssop branch. And if they were to do this, the

  327. the angel of death that would pass through the city that night

  328. would pass over their homes and they would be safe.

  329. And so here God is reminding Us in the way that Christ is

  330. crucified and all the events of the Cross.

  331. He's reminding us that Jesus Christ is the true Passover

  332. Lamb. Its this is the True Blood of

  333. the Lamb which will remove death from your home forever.

  334. He's the lamb who is sent to drink the bitter cup of God's

  335. Wrath toward sin. And as he wet his lips, He was

  336. able to unstick his tongue from a side of his mouth.

  337. He's able to get rid of that cotton mouth as we call it here

  338. in the south and able to cry out Taytay last eye.

  339. Or it is finished. But the phrase takes a list.

  340. I doesn't mean that something is like done then and then there's

  341. still work to do when you say tail has died, you're saying

  342. this job is complete. So it's not like when you go to

  343. work and your boss finally says at the end of the day alright

  344. it's time to go home. I'll see you in the morning.

  345. This is like when you complete a project at work and it's done

  346. for good. All right, Titleist.

  347. I you have you have finished the project once and for all it will

  348. always be finished. It will never be undone.

  349. This is the beauty of the cross. Jesus completely finishes, the

  350. work that the father commanded him to do.

  351. And because Jesus cried out, it is finished and gave up his

  352. Spirit. You and I now get the crap.

  353. Hallelujah, and receive his spirit, amen.

  354. We get to be born again. Born, a new born from above as

  355. we've been looking at in John 3, on Sundays.

  356. Nothing more needs to be done for your salvation, not now not

  357. ever. It is finished, if you will

  358. place your faith on the cross of Christ Jesus on his perfect

  359. sacrifice, you will be saved. If you have, you are saved from

  360. your sins. Your debt has been paid in full,

  361. you owe nothing. Except your obedience to God.

  362. He became a curse for you. He became separated from God, by

  363. your sin, in your place, so that you would never have to know the

  364. separation of God. Again, And in verses, 31 through

  365. 37, we get the final thing. I want to look at here since it

  366. was the day of preparation. And so that the bodies would not

  367. remain on the cross on the Sabbath for that Sabbath was a

  368. high day. The Jews asked pilate that their

  369. legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

  370. So, the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the

  371. other who had been crucified, these criminals, who Christ had

  372. been crucified wide width. But when they came to Jesus and

  373. saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.

  374. But one of the soldiers, pierced his side with a spear and at

  375. once there came out blood and water, he who saw it has borne

  376. witness. This testimony is true and he

  377. knows that he is telling the truth.

  378. That's John saying you better listen to me.

  379. I've seen this and he says, I've written this so that you also

  380. May believe. Verse 36, we read for these

  381. things, took place at the scripture, might be fulfilled,

  382. not one of his bones will be broken.

  383. The scriptures, say, and again, another scripture says, they

  384. will look on him, whom they have pierced which we read earlier

  385. and Isaiah 53. And so the crucifixion of Christ

  386. reveals the Sinners heart, it reveals where we are.

  387. And when we read verse 37, here, I'll read it again to you.

  388. But we, and again, another scripture says they will look,

  389. they will look on him whom they have pierced, we should see a

  390. double meaning, it is prophecy. Fulfilled, Zechariah 12:10 says

    Zechariah 12:10

  391. and I will pour out on the House of David and the inhabitants of

  392. Jerusalem, a spirit of Race and pleas for mercy.

  393. So that when they look on me on him whom they have pierced, they

  394. show mourn for him as One Mourns for an only child and weep

  395. bitterly over him is one weeps over a firstborn The crucifixion

  396. reveals the sinful hearts of man and it reveals the gracious

  397. please of for Mercy from God. That the cross is the coming

  398. together of the tragedy of man's sin and the good news of

  399. Salvation to all who believe we have at the Cross of Christ, the

  400. wrath of God satisfied. So that the believer might be

  401. justified But there's a prophecy that Still Remains to be filled

  402. Revelation 17, we read this behold.

  403. He is coming with the clouds and every eye will see him even

  404. those who pierced him. When it says, Those Who pierced

  405. him, do you think it has in mind, only the Roman soldiers,

  406. who jab, the spear into his side or drove the nails through his

  407. hands? No.

  408. It has in mind, every unbeliever, every person really,

  409. but certainly every unbeliever who is not trusted in Christ for

  410. the Forgiveness of their sins, their sin is not yet covered.

  411. So, the looking on him, whom they have pierced and all the

  412. tribes of the earth will well on account of him, even so, amen.

  413. John writes there in Revelation 1, so the humiliated King Jesus

  414. will return to Earth as the Exalted King Of Heaven and Earth

  415. and upon his coming Philippians 2 tells us that every knee will

  416. bow. And every tongue will confess

  417. that Jesus is Lord. When you first hear this, you

  418. might think well. This is universalism.

  419. Every knee bow. And every tongue confess has.

  420. This means that everyone must be saved, right?

  421. No. Satan recognizes that Christ is

  422. King. But he's as damned as any person

  423. or Angel could ever be some. What this verse is saying that

  424. some will Proclaim Christ is Lord.

  425. To their coronation ceremony. It's a celebration of the life

  426. that they've been given by Christ, their King my Christ,

  427. their slain Land by Christ their Savior.

  428. And then, for others. It's their condemnation.

  429. Committal the recognizing too late that Christ is the savior.

  430. And so, it's a really dark picture.

  431. We get in Philippians 2, we recognize that Christ is King.

  432. He's Lord over Heaven and Earth. And then in the same moment, we

  433. recognize that not everyone will see this.

  434. In this passage, we see that Jesus is Bones remained

  435. unbroken. This was the fill to fulfill

  436. scripture. It was customary for the

  437. Passover Lamb to not have his bones broken.

  438. There was a process for how you killed the lamb, you slayed the

  439. lamb that you were going to partake of And so, Jesus died.

  440. As the true Passover Lamb, he died as the one who truly takes

  441. away the sin of the world. Jesus wasn't just crucified

  442. between two criminals, he was crucified for criminals as a

  443. criminal. God made him to be sin who knew

  444. no sin, so that you, and I might become the righteousness of God.

  445. Second Corinthians, 5:21, there's nothing more significant

  446. on Earth for us to do than to repent of our sins.

  447. And to submit ourselves to the rural and the reign of Jesus

  448. Christ. It will cost you your life.

  449. Make no mistake. To submit to Christ is costly.

  450. It requires your life, your desires, your hopes, your

  451. dreams. But you will gain true life from

  452. him. You will gain life.

  453. That is eternal life that is abounding.

  454. With the fruit of the spirit, love, and joy and peace.

  455. Kindness and patience and self-control faith.

  456. May we all tonight be able to say with Paul as he writes to

  457. the Galatians 2:20 as he's admonishing them.

    Galatians 2:20

  458. He's encouraging them stand on Christ alone and he says this he

  459. says I have been crucified with Christ.

  460. It is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me and the

  461. life. I now live in the flesh, I live

  462. by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for

  463. me. Amen, let's pray Heavenly.

  464. Father we love you. God, we are so grateful for your

  465. word and your kindness toward us father help us to trust in

  466. Christ, help us To see ourselves as men and women and boys and

  467. girls help us to know to know Salvation in Christ and help us

  468. to see ourselves as those who have been crucified with Christ.

  469. It's no longer I who live but Christ who lives in US.

  470. God, we thank you for the life that we have received eternal

  471. life life that we know both right now in part and life that

  472. we will know in full when we're with you and Heaven.

  473. God, we thank you for Jesus Christ.

  474. We thank you for the cross in Christ's name.

  475. I pray, amen, amen. Would you stand to your feet

  476. tonight? We're going to We're going to

  477. receive communion together, so the ushers can go ahead and

  478. bring those elements forward looking around.

  479. I think most of you are familiar with how we do communion, but

  480. I'll I'll say it quickly, we practice close communion here,

  481. which means, as long as you're a believer in Jesus Christ, you're

  482. following him. You're not walking in

  483. unrepentant sin. Then we invite you to take

  484. communion with us tonight. We want you to as fellow

  485. Believers as men and women, who are our brothers and sisters in

  486. the Lord. And so in a moment they're going

  487. to begin passing those out and here's what I would ask you to

  488. do is as they're passing that out.

  489. Would you would you reflect on the cross?

  490. Would you spend time thinking brother, you spend time in

  491. Repentance, maybe confession if you need that?

  492. Maybe there's something to commit yourself to tonight as

  493. you reflect on the cross or Just Praise, right?

  494. Just genuine heartfelt. Praise that Christ did what you

  495. could never do. You could never atone for your

  496. own sins. And yet, here you stand forgiven

  497. redeemed, Justified before God almighty.

  498. Because of the work of Christ. I believe there's a gluten-free

  499. option in the corner of that tray marked, so you can find

  500. that if that's that's you you guys can begin passing that out

  501. will sing sing together. Now, survey, the prince of

  502. And don't call my Lord. Ram of new age of mine that were

  503. an offering for two. Small love, so amazing.

  504. So deep. Demons my soul, my life, my

  505. amen. When I Survey the Wondrous

  506. Cross. Amen.

  507. In Luke chapter 22. We have one of the accounts of

    Luke 22 chapter mention

  508. Christ in the upper room where where the Lord's Supper gets its

  509. birth. And says when the hour came, he

  510. reclined at the table and the apostles were with him.

  511. And he said, I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover

  512. with you before I suffer. For I tell you I will not eat it

  513. until it is fulfilled. in the kingdom of God And he took the

  514. cup and took he took a cup and when he had given thanks.

  515. He said take this and divide it among yourselves.

  516. So for I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit

  517. of the vine until the kingdom of God comes and he took bread and

  518. when he had given thanks, he broke it and he gave it to them

  519. saying this is my body which is given for you do this in

  520. remembrance of me. Amen.

  521. Heavenly Father we thank you for the broken body of your son

  522. Jesus. We thank you that he became

  523. flesh. He became like us so that he

  524. might die in our place. And is he broke that bread he

  525. was saying my body will be broken.

  526. I'm suffering. I'm going to suffer on your

  527. behalf. and he did it, he committed himself to it and we

  528. we read in your word that the reason he did that.

  529. Was for the joy. The reason he endured the cross

  530. was for the joy, that was set before him.

  531. Which is redemption, the Redemption of his people.

  532. And so we say thank you for the for the body of Christ.

  533. Amen. in verse 20, here in Luke 22, it

  534. says in, likewise the cup After they had eaten and he said this

  535. cup that is poured out for you. Is the New Covenant in my blood

  536. So here's one of the significant things of this that we kind of

  537. lose in First Corinthians, just be honest.

  538. First Corinthians doesn't doesn't tell us about the cup

  539. that was poured into other cups. But he blessed before he gave to

  540. him. But here we read about it.

  541. There was a cop that he had given.

  542. Thanks for. He said, take this cop divided

  543. among yourselves And now he's telling them what to do with

  544. that cop as he's holding the original cup.

  545. Christ is saying this is poured out for you and this is the New

  546. Covenant of my blood in my blood Wow.

  547. Amen. Amen.

  548. Let's pray. Father.

  549. We thank you for a new covenants.

  550. A covenant that is built on Grace that by the blood of

  551. Christ. We have received what we

  552. absolutely do, not deserve. And that is Grace.

  553. It's Mercy. It's salvation.

  554. Redemption justification. Lord, we we are made new through

  555. your son, Jesus. And we praise you for it.

  556. We praise you for this new covenant.

  557. Lord help our hearts to never be hardened to this to this supper

  558. to this moment of communion as we stand here with our brothers

  559. and sisters. And we remember the Cross of

  560. Christ together. And Paul says, that's exactly

  561. what this moment is. As we, as we do this, we

  562. Proclaim his death until he comes.

  563. And so father, we thank you for christ that he came.

  564. We thank you for christ that he is the king of kings but he

  565. suffered in our place and that he is coming again.

  566. And we'll fellowship with him over a supper one day.

  567. In Christ's name. I pray.

  568. Amen. Amen.

  569. We're going to end with one more song.

  570. It's called crown him and just couldn't think of anything more

  571. fitting to sing as we think about the death of the king of

  572. kings. And as remember that truly he

  573. has been crowned. But may our hearts May Our Lives

  574. crown him. Amen.

  575. And would you sing with us? The Humble King has come to

  576. Earth from Throne on high to low, leaper, his glory Rings,

  577. the Spotless lamb. It was washed away.

  578. I Fade All sin with saving grace.

  579. His glory, The Man of Sorrows crucified full of he bleeds and

  580. love, he died. His glory Christ, the King is

  581. Lord crown him seed on his throne.

  582. Active King of Kings enthroned on high and His glory behold.

  583. The gracious Lord has opened Use and put outside.

  584. He's God Christ. The King in his crown him.

  585. See his throat. See.

  586. We praise you, we praise you praise the King is Lord Crown

  587. his seed. Thrown, or we give you praise

  588. this evening. We remember the sacrifice that

  589. you made, Lord Jesus, we look forward to celebrating the

  590. resurrection to come this Sunday.

  591. Remembering the resurrection. Oh Lord.

  592. Jesus, our savior, we praise you.

  593. And we give you all the glory forever and ever.

  594. Be with us as we go throughout our weekend and help us to

  595. remember you this Easter weekend, Christ, whom I pray.

  596. Amen. You guys are dismissed.

  597. Thanks so much for coming.
