Psalm chapter 90. Psalm chapter 98, is the

Psalms 90 · chapter mention Psalms 98 · chapter mention

continuation of our series. That we've been doing called

Psalms aligning ourselves with the heart of God, lining or

aligning ourselves with God's hearts.

And today's Psalm is a, it's a community lament, meaning that

it has a tone of sadness to it. It's got a tone of regrets, a

tone of disappointment, a tone of Repentance.

I think is really what we're seeing here.

Sometimes it's a tone of an understanding of Of what's going

on around you and and looking at God in the midst of that and

lamenting that such things are happening but also understanding

that such things were necessary that they're ordered by the Lord

and so congregations the sing this together.

As they remember past failures, and as they plead with God to

save them and to establish their works, that's really what this

is about. About.

And so the truths that are here in this Psalm help us do exactly

those things. And so if you would would you

stand as a prepare to read this, Psalm to us will read through

it. And when I finish reading, I'll

say this is God's holy word and you'll respond.

Thanks be to God. And then I'll pray for us.

Okay. Psalm 90 a prayer of Moses, the

man of God. Lord.

You have been our Dwelling Place in all generations.

Before the mountains were brought forth or ever.

You had formed the earth and the world from Everlasting to

Everlasting. You are God.

You return, man, to dust and say return, o children of man for a

thousand years in your side are. But as yesterday when it is past

or as a watch in the night, you sweep them away.

As with a flood, they are like a dream like grass that is renewed

in the morning in the morning. It flourishes and is renewed in

the evening. It's Fades and Withers for.

We are brought to an end by your anger by your wrath.

We are dismayed. You have set our iniquities

before you our secret sins in the light of your presence.

For all our days pass away under your wrath.

We bring our years to an end like a sigh.

The years of our life or 70, or even by reason of strength, 80

yet their span is but toil and trouble.

They are soon gone and we fly away.

Who considers the power of your anger and your wrath according

to the fear of you. So teach us to number our days

that we may get a heart of wisdom return.

O Lord, how long has pity on your servants satisfy us in the

morning with your steadfast, love that we may rejoice and be

glad all our days make us glad for as many days as you have

Afflicted us and for, as many years, As we have seen evil, but

your work, be shown to your servants, and your glorious

power to their children. But the favor of the Lord, Our

God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us.

Yes, establish the work of our hands.

This is God's. Holy word.

Thanks be to God. Hey man, let me pray for his

father. We love you.

We thank you for your word and this time we have now to read it

to hear from it. Lord, would you open our hearts

by the power of your spirit to know it and to understand it to

be transformed by its Lord help us always to submit ourselves to

your word and not to submit your word to ourselves.

Or may we come under its Authority and its power.

And every area of our life in Christ's name, we pray this,

amen may be seated. So Moses, as you see in the

opening part of this, a prayer of Moses, the man of God, Moses

is the author of this Psalm, this is the only song attributed

to Moses. But in Exodus 15, we have a song

of Praise that here. Oats, and in Deuteronomy chapter

Deuteronomy 32 · chapter mention

32, we have a song of instruction that he has written,

but this is different. This is a prayer.

It's a petition to God. Moses, most likely pin.

This Psalm after the pronouncement of judgment upon

ill Israel in the wilderness. So after The Exodus event,

they've been released from Egypt's captivity there in the

wilderness now. And this is likely.

When he pins, this is after God's judgments.

I mean know that Israel was not always grateful to God for their

Deliverance. They weren't always trusting of

God for his provision. There were times where they just

out rights. act in unbelief toward God, the same God who led

them out of Egypt with what we might What we might call a

mighty hand. To say the least.

They were an outright Rebellion at times, making graven images

and worshipping those instead of worshipping God.

And so God declared to them in their Rebellion early on, in

their Wilderness Journey, that they would not see the Promised

Land. He tells them that your

carcasses will die in the wilderness that you will be

wasted Away by a series of sufferings for 38 years

together. what should have been a rather short, Journey became a

40-year Expedition because of rebellion, because of sin,

because of unbelief because of hard-heartedness towards God,

And so God says that this generation will not see the

promised land Moses himself, doesn't get to see the promised

land because of his own Rebellion.

As a Bible commentators by the name of Matthew Henry.

And he writes this about this scenario, he said, probably

Moses pin this prayer to be daily used either by the people

in their tents, other have it scribbled down and they're

getting to pray this prayer each day as a reminder.

There's work to be done. We've sinned against the Lord,

we must commit our way to him. He'll establish the work of our

hands. He's the one who should satisfy

our hearts in the morning with his great love. he says it could

have been a prayer that was meant to be daily used by the

people in their tents, or at least he says, by the priest and

the Tabernacle service during their tedious fatigue, in the

wilderness The priest, pleading this over, the people of God,

over themselves and over the people of God.

Regardless of the curse on them, regardless of the pronouncement

of judgment, the truth is that they were God's people.

They were the ones whom he had chosen over the ones, whom he

had seen fit to deliver and they're the ones in the

wilderness because of these things.

And so there's still much to do and their lives.

They're still much to learn. There's much to pass on as we

just read in Deuteronomy 6. For their lives to be

prosperous. They must devote themselves to

God's covenant. The live faithful towards God to

be his people. There's a Latin phrase that I

love very much. It's it's used to describe this

idea of living before the face of God's called Quorum.

They own. It just means before the face of

God or in the presence of God, our lives are meant to be lived,

Quorum Daya and make no mistake. Your life is lived From day 0,

rather you're dedicating it to the Lord or not.

Everything you do is before the face of God before him.

And though, the song was written for this particular occasion,

it's written as a result of Israel's Rebellion it's written

from a man of God who is seeking to lead the people of God in the

right direction for faithfulness.

Though, it's written for that, it's very applicable.

To the Frailty of human life. In general.

We may easily apply it to the years of are wondering right now

in the wilderness of this world. You and I must also joyfully

devote ourselves to the Eternal God if we want these frail lives

to have any Eternal significance.

Amen. And so that's what I want to lay

before you today. And if you're taking notes, you

can write this down that joyful Devotion to our Eternal.

God makes our frere, frell lives eternally meaningful, joyful

Devotion to our Eternal, God makes our Freire, Pharrell

lives, you just have to say it twice so the way to get through

it. Makes these frail lives

eternally meaningful. Let's review the psalm and dive

into a little bit of what it's saying.

Look at verses one and two again.

Lord you have been our Dwelling Place in all generations.

Did you just say all generations with me all generations?

Incredible before the mountains were brought forth or ever, you

had formed the earth and the world from Everlasting to

Everlasting as a long time, right?

Literally, eternity past. Eternity future from Everlasting

to Everlasting. You are God.

Amen. So what's Moses doing?

In the beginning of this Lament, he is comforting himself.

He's comforting his people with the eternity of God.

And their interest in that. Why is it?

Why does it matter that God? Is he turning?

Why does it matter that he has been a Dwelling Place in all

generations. Moses's comforting himself,

first and foremost, with God, he begins with God and this is the

place we must all begin. Is with God.

So many times were tempted in our prayers to go straight to

God with our petitions straight to God with you.

You even know what's going on in my life or how in the world.

Could you allow this to happen or what?

In the world am I supposed to do about this?

And what the psalmist really all of them do so often.

Is teach us to begin with God. The begin with adoration.

That God is God, and there is no other, and I'm bringing my

petitions to him, not in further complaints.

But to set my trust on the god of gods, the Lord of Lord, the

King of Kings. Amen.

The God, Who created the heavens and the Earth, the one true God.

This is what we do in prayer. So what Moses is doing for the

people, he's saying go first to God, remember him because your

sin is because you forgot him, but remember him.

And so Moses Begins by comforting them in this, you

see, God is eternal. And so he is and has been, and

will be the dwelling place of his people throughout.

Out all generations from Everlasting to Everlasting.

You can take it to the bank that God is there that he is God that

he is real, that he's not gone anywhere that he's never left

you. He's never forsaken, you He's

always there. He is constant.

He's a refuge. Of help in your time of need.

And as the dwelling place, we may describe him as our home.

He is my Dwelling Place. He has been our Dwelling Place.

Moses says, what's he saying? He is where we rest.

He is where we set up our bed. He is where we set up our home

and our dinner table, he is home.

He's our Dwelling Place, he is our refuge and he will be a For

his people, he is the Eternal shelter from danger or hardship.

He's the Eternal shelter of health and mercy, and Grace of

which we run to, from our sins. We repent of those and we find

faith in Christ. We hide ourselves in Christ.

You might say, we make Christ Our Dwelling Place.

We live with him and he lives with us now.

The psalmist assumes that God is the creator.

He didn't feel the need to explain this.

He's riding from the presupposition that God is God,

that God is the creator. He is always been God, which

means he will always be God from generation to generation.

He has been our Dwelling Place. Moses is making the confession

that he is God. And there is none like him.

Have you settled this in your heart brothers and sisters?

I mean, really settled it down in there that one, when the

going gets tough. And when suffering comes as we

talked about this morning and Sunday school, or as you think

about your own life, When suffering happens because it

will. Have you settled in your heart?

That God is your Dwelling Place. He's your rock.

He's your shelter because that's what Moses is doing here.

He's saying he is God and there is none like him.

What do we mean when we say that there is none like him.

Well, one of the greatest things about God, that we need to

recognize is that God is self-existent.

You and I are not self existent. We might think we can exist on

our own, but you were created. So, in the fact that you were

created means that you are not self existent.

Your dependent. You'll always be dependent

everything. In creation is dependent upon

the one, who is self-existent, and it would not exist.

It would not live. It would not breathe.

It would not lay in the dirt as a rock and less God had created

it to do. So, Its dependence on God.

All of creation is and you are first and foremost dependent

upon him. Your life from beginning to end,

your days are numbered. That's what song.

That's what David saying in. Psalm 139 says, all of my days

were numbered before there was ever one God knows your

beginning and you're in, but he more than those that he's

determined it. He's fixed it.

You will not breathe. You will not wake up.

You will not die. Apart from him.

You are fully dependent upon God.

Fully dependent. Genesis 1:1.

Genesis 1:1

The Bible begins with in the beginning.

God. In the beginning, God created

the heavens and the Earth. I was reading through the

treasury of David, which is Charles spurgeon's commentary on

the Psalms. And, and I came across this

quote, the thought was Really well-written.

He said God was when nothing else was.

He was God when the Earth was not a world but chaos.

When mountains were not up heaved and the generation of the

heavens and the Earth had not yet commenced.

And this eternal one, there is a safe Abode for the successive

generations of, man. If God himself were of

yesterday, he would not be a suitable refuge for Mortal men.

If he could change and cease to be God, he would be but an

uncertain dwelling place for his people.

Those things are not true. God does not change.

He's the same yesterday today and forever as Hebrews declares

And he is a certain dwelling place because he is exist today,

yesterday and forever. And the Eternal nature of God is

mentioned first in this Psalm and it's meant to highlight the

frail nature of human life that we see next.

Look at verse 3, you return man, to dust and say return, o

children of man. For a thousand years in your

sight are but as yesterday when it is past or is it watch in the

ninth? The psalmist is saying that a

thousand. Even if Ally for a thousand

years it would just be as but yesterday to an eternal God,

right? Be a blip.

You sweep them away, verse 5, you sweep them away as with a

flood talking about the days, they are like a dream, like

grass that is are talking about man.

Sorry, you sweep them away. As with a flood, they were like

a dream, like grass that is renewed in the morning in the

morning, it flourishes and it is renewed in the evening.

It fades. And Withers.

I won't spend a ton of time on these verses, but this is what's

happening in these verses Moses is now humbling himself and his

people with the consideration of their own Frailty.

God is eternal, you me. We are not amen. if you sit on

that, for just a moment, it's humbling.

We live our days like we're God. We consider that we have often

times. We consider that we have an

inordinate amount of days available.

That we're going to go on forever.

Well why do you say that we'll just think about the way you

approach a day or go through a day.

There are days that I go through where I don't consider a moment

or A time of. Interaction with my own children

or with my wife, or with those around me where I'm so just kind

of wrapped up in myself or, or I'm just kind of not feeling it

that day, right? Not engaged.

And so, what am I doing? It's kind of like

procrastination, it's presuming upon God that he owes me a

tomorrow to do what he's called me to do today.

It's a really bad place to be in.

I don't want to presume upon God that he owes us anything,

especially a tomorrow. As you were called by God to

live for him today to exalt him today.

The glorify him and all that you say and do today.

No days off. Right?

Resting and cries. I'm not talking about

works/righteousness, I'm not talking about, you're working

hard and you're a slave and all that I'm talking about resting

in Christ and that's what we're going to get to.

At the end of the psalm, is that when you commit yourself,

joyfully to the Lord or when you depend upon the Lord, there's a

joy that comes with that. My Christ says in In John

John 15 · chapter mention

chapter 15, when he's telling the disciples before, he's going

to be crucified, he's telling them to abide in me, abide in my

love. And he says that as you abide in

me as I've abided in my father's love, you will know my love.

And he says, though, that I will fill you with my joy and your

joy will be complete. Dividing and Christ is not

treasury. It's not monotony, it's not

meaninglessness. It's all the meanings like John

and John chapter 14 Jesus says sorry John. 1010.

John 14 · chapter mention

He says that I have come that you would have life and life

more abundantly Abundant Life, full life.

But when we start taking days off, we start giving in to our

sins without any real care or thoughts.

We're in danger of hardening, our heart to God, we're in

danger of presuming that. God owes us a tomorrow to repent

and live for him. God doesn't owe us such things.

All that we've received from God.

His grace already. It's a gift already.

And so Moses has humbled himself in these verses and he's saying,

God creates Man Out of the Dust of the ground and back to the

dust. The man returns at the end of

his life by the word of the Creator.

God is steadfast And man Fades away.

God continues on. He's from Everlasting into

Everlasting and man's days. Come to an end and this life on

this Earth. it's almost makes it clear that man is brought to an

end only by the decree of God, he says you return man, to dust

you return man to dust And the gospels Jesus is talking about,

he's encouraging the disciples to be bold and to have strength

and to trust in the Lord, as they go do the work that he's

given him to do. And he tells them that there's

not a sparrow that falls to the ground apart, from the word of

God, apart from God's decree, how much more does he care for

you? Right?

So, he's saying, trust him. Depend on the Lord.

It's not the decree of faith that brings her life to an end.

There's no such thing, it's not the enact.

It's not the actions of inevitable law so to speak.

It's God's word is the agent of all things.

By his word, all things come into existence by his word.

All things cease. The fleeting life span that we

know today is not the way God intended life to be.

It's not the what it was supposed to be, but it's a

result of Adam and Eve's sin in the garden.

It's not simply a product of Being Human Being.

I mean, being a human being, but it, but it is now because of

sin, but you were created. Man was created to dwell with

God eternally. That's why God when he's

removing Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden He mentions the

tree of life and he says we've got to get them out.

He's essentially saying we've got to get them out of here.

Let's they eat of the tree of life and live forever in this

state of sin. So God was foreshadowing in

those moments. Also that there's going to come

a time of redemption was going to be one who takes away.

The sin of the world is going to be one in whom, my people can

trust for righteousness, and I'll take their sin and remove

it from them. And I will give them the

righteousness of my own son Christ, but right now, I'm not

going to have them live forever in this state.

It's not, not my intention them, but in Revelation, 21 and 22.

We see the garden again. We see the tree of life again,

and you will eat of the tree of life.

So, to speak in heaven, you will go on forever in heaven.

You will dwell eternally with the Lord after this life, amen.

So there's a lot you can flush out there but it gives you some

understanding Again I found Spurgeon helpful.

He said his grass is green in the morning and becomes, hey at

nights. So men are changed from Health

to corruption in a few hours. We are not Cedars or Oaks but

only poor grass. Which is vigorous in the spring

but last, not a summer through how many of you got brown grass

outside your house right now, right?

What is there upon the Earth more frail than we Spurgeon Sith

incredible? So next in the song we see God's

righteous judgment on man's sin. Look at verse 7 for.

We are brought to an end by your anger by your wrath.

We are dismayed. You have set your iniquities.

Sorry, you have set our iniquities before you our secret

sins in the light of your presence.

For all your days, pass away. All our days pass away under

your wrath. We bring our years to an end

like a sigh. The years of our life are 70 or

even by reason of strength, 80, if their span is but Toil and

Trouble, there are soon gone and we fly away who considers the

power of your anger and your wrath, according to the fear of

you. Having already observed God's

eternity and the frail nature of man.

Moses now turns the His attention.

To help his people understand God's righteous sentence upon

them because of their sins in the wilderness unbelief

murmuring, against God outright Rebellion.

The song Here is reflecting on the unfaithfulness of previous

generations, these generations and their unfaithfulness of

brought God's anger and wrath upon them. but the same

principle is true today that when someone within the body of

God's people commit sin, And they're purged from his people.

The whole body suffers the pain of his righteous sentence.

It's a painful experience. As Christians, we don't gloat

over. Sin being sinful people being

destroyed by God. Let me put it that way.

We don't gloat over the destruction of people.

Right. We're grateful to God that he's

righteous and then he's holy and he will not be tread against

like you're just not going to go on that way.

God will have the final word. He will not be mocked.

And we don't say that gloating lie.

We say that warningly, right? Like this is a warning that if

you don't turn from your sins, if you don't commit yourself to

Christ Jesus, you don't trust in him for his forgiveness.

And you don't receive his righteousness upon yourself and

you stand before. God one day in your sins.

You'll die. Will die.

There will be no life for you. It's sad, but that's eternally

sad. And when you witness it, it's

when you know, people on it, when it hits home, It's

frustrating and it hurts and you don't know how to deal with it.

Just to be honest. What you're grateful to God,

that he's righteous and good. A grateful to God that he calls

people to himself. You're grateful to God that he

saves people by the sacrifice of his own son.

And that by Grace, there is salvation.

And it's unexplainable. It's really, it's inexplicable.

It's like why in the world would God save people.

We've been so awful towards him. And yet he does it because he's

merciful gracious, he's loving. This is why John 3:16 Says for

John 3:16

God. So loved the world that he sent

his son. He has a heart of the father

toward his people. and when his people are in their sins,

There's a fatherly heart that goes out to them.

It chastises, it disciplines, don't get me wrong.

It's his not overlooking in the same way, when my children sin

or where my children act up, or when my children disobey, I'm

not just overlooking that. I'm not saying, I know, big deal

Christ died for him, like no, like this is a big deal.

They need to trust Christ for that salvation.

Need to understand their sin. This is why Moses is saying the

span of Our Lives. Though their brief when compared

to Godsey turn ality there but toil and trouble this is

painful. A world that has decay.

And destruction and death in. It is painful.

It there's suffering in that world.

And yet in it, God is working. And so God and His grace, he is

set their sins in the light for all of them to see the holy face

of God, is shining down on their unholiness, and they can see

their sins before them. There are no secret sins before

the All-Seeing Eyes Of God. Amen.

You cannot run so somewhere he cannot go.

You cannot sin and such a dark corner that he will not see it.

Your life is always before him and Proverbs Chapter 5, the The

Proverbs 5 · chapter mention

rider is warning, his sons To Be watchful of the adulterous woman

and not to commit himself to her, but listen to what he says,

as a way of encouragement. For his sons he says, for the

ways of a man are before the eyes of the Lord and he watches

all his tracks. His own iniquities will capture

him. Who is the wicked one?

And with the cords of his sin, he will be held fast, he will

die for lack of discipline, and then the abundance of his folly.

He will stumble in intoxication, meaning, he'll be Intoxicated by

his own ways, his own desires. His own folly.

If you've ever watched someone go headlong into destruction

time after time again, and you just kind of beating your head

against the wall, like wondering how in the world and maybe

you're that person, maybe you were that person.

All right, you've seen it. You've seen that play out.

Time and time again. What leads people to do that is

the intoxication of their own desires.

And of their own folly. and so, you must understand like wisdom

is here in Psalm 90, and we must see what Moses is, teaching the

people if we want to avoid Folly, if we want to avoid being

Intoxicated by our own folly, This is what Moses is saying.

Here is a thing that God's anger and wrath toward.

Their sins is in accordance with the fear or the reverence, the

faith. The Humble Holiness seeking love

that they ought to have had towards him.

They've traded Creator worship for creation worship as Romans

one puts it so eloquently. And Proverbs 1:7.

Proverbs 1:7

It says, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.

Fools despise wisdom and instruction.

So how can we say, or or think that God is not good because of

his righteous judgment? The children of Israel had been

brought out of Egypt with power. They had been fed in the

wilderness with God's gracious hand.

They were Guided by his Mercy, their sins of unbelief and

murmuring and mockery and bell and Rebellion are atrocious in

his sight. Listen to me.

If you are in Christ, meaning you have Committed your life to

Christ, then saved by his grace. And you two have been a

recipient of God's great love. If you are trusting in Christ

for the Forgiveness of your sins then you have been redeemed by

the blood of Jesus. You've been saved by Amazing

Grace and so will you not also be found guilty if you forsake

the Lord Shouldn't this make us ask?

what manner of person will I be kind of person, will I be

Shouldn't this make us ask questions, like how should I

pray for cleansing from Secret sins.

How do I do that? Again, Charles Spurgeon says it

is to us a Wellspring of the lights.

Remember that our sins as Believers are Now cast behind

the Lord's back and shall never be brought to light again.

Therefore, we live because the guilt being removed, the death

penalty is removed. Also, amen.

From the 6:23 says that the wages of sin is death.

But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, Our

Lord Listen, our days are short on this Earth.

The decisions you make day in and day out, either serve to

strengthen your joyful dependence on God, or they serve

to weaken it. There's no in between there's no

middle ground. There's no idleness there.

It's those considerations that lead Moses too eager prayer for

God to teach he and the people wisdom to establish the work of

their hands. And he is asking God to guide

them and faithful joyful, living Quorum Deo before the face of

the Lord. Look at verses 12 through 17.

So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of

wisdom that so they're the beginning of that that's in

light of all these things. So teach us to number our days

that we may get a heart of wisdom return O Lord, how long

have pity on your servants Satisfy us in the morning with

your steadfast, love that we may rejoice and be glad all our

days. Make us glad for as many days as

you have Afflicted us and for as many years.

As we have seen evil, let your work be shown to your servants

and your glorious power to their children.

But the favor of the Lord, Our God be upon us, and establish

the work of our hands upon us. Yes, establish the work of our

hands. Its final section is made up of

petitions that come in light of the truths of verses 1 through

11. Moses, commits himself, he

commits, the people of God, it's a prayer.

It commits them to God by prayer, sorry, for divine,

mercy. He's asking, have pity on us.

What is he asking for divine? Mercy, God show us mercy and

Grace return. O Lord, how long he's asking for

the return of God's favor, he says, even have favor.

The opening petition there in verse 12.

So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of

wisdom. This is a request to learn from

God, how to make the most of one's days.

Since there are so few, right? And there's few and doing so you

get a heart of wisdom. Which is to say, you have the

right priorities, namely fear of the Lord reverence for the name

of God, but not just reverence for the name of not just like

you'll entertain a conversation about God or you're not going to

say bad things about God, but a reverence and that you're

devoting yourself to God, that you have no other gods before.

God that you love the Lord, your God with all your heart, and all

your soul and all your minds. You've committed yourself to

him. Brothers and sisters.

This is where the monotonous and the mundane things of Life

become Majestic, and magnifying to the name of the Lord, Our

God, when you commit your ways to the Lord, Day in and day out

and maybe you're still kind of looking for your purpose so to

speak in life. You're looking for that thing

that kind of gives you meaning you're looking for, what should

I be doing type stuff questions, right?

Whether you're a child or a teenager looking at college or

you're in college or your post College maybe even working a

career for 20-plus years. You're like, man, this is really

what I got to do the rest of my life, wherever you're at.

The wisdom is the same for every one of us.

It's not that some people have a greater calling than others, or

are there more spiritual and more special than others.

The the calling is the same to all Christians.

That you live your life before the face of God every single day

and that you're faithful to him where you are and you trust him

daily. And you're not taking your eye

off of him, you may not like where you're at, you may not

understand why you are where you are but you know that by the

hand of God, your life has been ordered but you made some plans

but the Lord is directed your steps.

You know what I mean? Like you said I'll be here at

this time of my life and you're like way over here at this time

of your life, right? And the interesting thing about

that is, as we walk Faithfully with the Lord, we look at

something, we think, man. I really thought that by, you

know, 36, I'd be here. And really, I'm just kind of way

over there. But, you know what, way over

there after Decades of faithfulness to the Lord looks

way better than when I thought here would look And so you can

say by the grace of God, I'm not quite what I want to be, but I'm

far better off than I would be. Amen.

It's a dependence on the grace of God day in and day out.

And so the monotonous the mundane, the, the waking up, the

brushing, your teeth, the getting ready in the morning,

the teaching, the kids, the training, the children, the the

work, the paper, pushing the, whatever becomes Majestic.

It becomes magnifying to the landlord because you're saying

whatever I do, With my hands and with my feet, and with my mouth.

And with my mind with my heart, whatever I do, I'm committing

myself to the Lord, my God and I'm going to glorify his name

and all of these things. And so your life matters and

really what happens is your life becomes Transcendent, to some

extent like the things that you're doing of Eternal value.

Guess what? They're good for eternity.

So to speak, you're writing checks that are good in the Bank

of Heaven. Amen.

Like and I don't mean Prosperity types of what I'm saying is that

your good works matter for eternity because you're

committing yourself to the Lord and he makes those things

meaningful. And so you don't have to wonder

like Ali, am I, am I doing what I'm supposed to do?

I mean, I thought being a mom would be fun.

But woo toddlers. All right, it's okay.

Like fish and I understand Or. or I thought that being married

would be enjoyable, but Josh, my spouse. she doesn't love the

Lord, like I saw it or he doesn't love the Lord, like I

had hoped or You know what I mean?

You find yourself kind of second-guessing and that's

wrong. That's grumbling, that's

murmuring against God in the wilderness.

The Lord has put you where you are.

So that you'll be faithful, they're not wish that you had

someone else's life. Not wish that yours was

different. Not wish any of those things.

But to show up every day to punch the time clock and to say

I'm committing myself to Christ today and I'm going to trust him

that what seems impossible with man is not impossible for God

Almighty, and he can change anything in my life and works

that I commit to him or Transcendence a matter for

eternity. You have that conviction about

you and it changes, you transforms you, because why you

started in verse 1 you started in verse 2.

You said you God have been my Dwelling Place from generation

to generation. You alone are God, you were

before the mountains or the heavens, and the Earth were even

established. You are God from Everlasting to

Everlasting, you start there and then everything Beyond it

becomes Transcendent for you. Your life matters like truly

matters, it's meaningful eternally.

So in verse 13, the psalmist is looking honestly at his sins and

the sins of his people and he sang Return O Lord how long have

pity on us. Maybe that's where you are

today. Maybe that's what your prayer

needs to be. Okay, Lord, I see it.

I understand where I've aired. Understand where I've been

unfaithful unbelieving. Have mercy on me.

God, show me pity today. That's exactly what he's done in

Christ Jesus, he's shown you mercy, and you don't have to

wonder, its version has this great quote, that there's not

one person in Hell who can say that I went to God and he turned

me away. Praise God.

There's not one person who will test to see if God's word is

real and be turned away. Go to God, plead for him to have

mercy on you, repent of your sins and commit yourself to him.

Verse 14, the request for God, to satisfy us in the morning,

with your steadfast, love that we may rejoice and be glad all

our days. Not simply may just be a daily

prayer and there's a fantastic side, note Shane.

And Shane Psalm 90 song about this that you must listen to

every morning for a while Psalm 90 Shane.

And Shane go listen to it. Be blessed, it's amazing.

But this is what it is. It's a prayer to God that in the

morning, you will satisfy Amy with your steadfast.

Love that I might rejoice in you and be glad all my days.

Again. What are you doing?

You're not only starting in. Psalm 90 verses 1 and 2 with

Psalms 90:1

your life, you're saying each morning, I'm starting there.

I'm starting with Lord, you must Satisfy My Heart's, you must

satisfy my heart, you must satisfy my heart with your

steadfast, love for something to be steadfast.

It's like if you've ever stood in the the current of a raging

River, That's steadfast. A puddle of water is not

steadfast, but a raging current is steadfast.

This is what the love of God is like it is.

Steadfast love for those who will say satisfy me in that

you'll find it to be steadfast. You'll find that to keep your

heart. When everything else seems

chaotic. You'll have peace, you'll have

joy. Metabee our daily prayer.

In verse 15, he says make us glad for as many days as, as you

have Afflicted us and for as many years as we have seen evil.

So he's saying in your mercy, redeem, the days of the rest of

our lives by giving us days of joy and gladness.

Please have mercy God in verses 19 and 16 let your work be shown

to your servants and your glorious power to their

children. And every parent said a men.

But the favor of the Lord, Our God be upon us, and establish

the work of our hands upon us. Yes, establish the work of our

hands. Moses wants God's people to see

his wonderful works. Again.

We have seen it. Lord, you brought us out of

Egypt. You saved us.

Lord help us. We have rebelled against you.

But show us your works again that our children might rejoice

in your power. He also asked for God to be with

them and favor. Who established the work of

their hands? Was he praying for Eternal

significance Lord, we have done this, but our hearts now or

yours, give us a favor Lord help us to do.

Good works in the land established our hands to do your

work. Anything done outside of faith

in God is fruitless and Eternity.

It'll be eternally insignificant, but the words

that you do unto the Lord, those things will last forever and our

lives will bear Eternal meaning. And so, I say to you again that

joyful Devotion to our Eternal God makes our frail lives

eternally, meaningful Ephesians 2 8 through 10.

For by Grace, you have been saved through faith.

And this is not of yourselves. It is not your own doing.

It is the gift of God, not a result of works so that no one

may boast. For we are his workmanship

created in Christ Jesus. For good works which God

prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Amen. Amen.

If you've been saved by the grace of God, you are the

workmanship of Christ Jesus. You're a new creation in him old

things have passed away and guess what?

God has good works for you to do.

He's got a work for you to do. He's got a life for you to live

again the mundane and monotonous becomes Majestic and magnifying.

Go walk in those things. Live them out.

Follow the lord and obedience trust him.

That life is not meaningless. Life is not fruitless in Christ.

I think this text leaves us with all sorts of applications.

I mean, there's so much here and I've tried to apply some things

as we go, but I just want to draw your attention to two

things. One use well, the time you have

now. Well.

Don't live in the past. Don't dwell on past sins.

Trust that Christ has forgiven you.

If you've repented of those trust that God has got a new

life for you and walk with him live with him.

This is what he's saying. Teach us to number our days that

we may get a heart of wisdom, do that?

The second application I think, is this ask the Lord to Grant

You by his grace as significance, that transcends

and outstrips your life. One of the ways that God has

given us to do this, not the only way, but one of the ways is

marriage and child rearing, Through marriage and child

rearing. You get to see literally the

Transcendence of Works committed to the Lord.

You get to see them before your face.

Grandparents, get to rejoice and grandchildren, possibly even

great-grandchildren. As they watch their kids be

faithful to the Lord as they train them and their kids now

are being faithful to the Lord as they're being trained.

It's an incredible thing, but that's not the only way, right?

So I've mentioned, husbands and wives briefly mentioned fathers

and mothers children Kids, listen to me for a moment.

Your life matters. Your life matters.

The Lord. Has offering to you salvation In

Christ Alone. You can live for him and you

think, well, I'm just a kid. Oh, what better place to be in?

You know what the Bible says, Jesus told the disciples as they

were trying to hinder kids from coming to him.

He says, let the little children come to me.

Or I will not cast them away. Children today, I invite you to

trust in Jesus Christ, not only for the Forgiveness of your

sins, but trust in him day in and day out, as you honor, your

father and mother meaning as you obey your mommy and daddy.

And I love that you're in here. Learning from the Lord.

Scribbling on notepads, keep it up.

It's meaningful. It's not mundane matters.

No matter where you're at, is a disciple of Christ married

unmarried. Single hoping to never be

married, like, no matter where you're at, is a disciple of

Christ. Jobless got a job.

There's work in Christ for you to do days, are short.

So, pray for wisdom. Pray for the Lord to lead you in

his ways that you might do things of Eternal significance

day in and day out. So, the beauty of this is God,

called, some people, to be pastors and some people to be

missionaries and churches, often times God's people, look at

those off those things and we think, man.

That's, that's what it really means to serve the Lord, with

the rest of us, you know, we just kind of, write the checks,

we say the prayers, that's not it at all.

That's not the all of it. Maybe true.

You might be meeting. Faithful to God in those things,

but you have a life to live. Got people to evangelize in your

neighborhood and your family. if children to raise, if a wife or

husband to love and to honor and cherish, And all of these things

matter for eternity. So we start thinking of your

life in these terms, I guess my final questions would be would

how would thinking like this and praying like this.

In Psalm 90 transform your life day in and day out.

How does it impact you? How would it change?

What you invest yourself in? How would it change?

What you commit yourself to? We'll let you consider those

things with the Holy Spirit. Now, as I pray for you, going to

be in the back after my prayer. You guys can come talk, if you

want prayer. I'm happy to pray with you happy

to visit with you. You think, man?

Not yet. I feel free to stop by and say,

Hey, I want to meet with you this week, we'll make it happen.

I in the other Elders here we're here to serve you of lead you

and godliness and faithfulness. We pray for your father.

We love you. We thank you Lord for your word.

I thank you for this congregation and their desire to

hear your word, their desire to know your word, their desires to

know you and to love you and to follow you and Lord, I ask now

that you help them to do that. Strengthen them for those

things. Lord help us to respond to your

spirit. Now, and the ways that he's

leading us, whether that be repentance or ongoing

faithfulness, or this is brought to light, something, we haven't

considered. And we need to think more about

that. We need to put that to action,

whatever it may be, father, Maybe it's responding to Christ

and salvation are in faith for salvation.

For the very first time of our lives Christ seems real to us.

Lord, would you? Would you save those Souls?

Did you lead them in Repentance and help them to follow your

spirit? Lord, we love you and we thank

you for your word. We thank you.

That it's not shy. That it's not hard to understand

that it's that it's written for our instruction.

It's written that we might know the God who created us the walk

in his ways, that we might be wise eternally, wise.

And we might do things on this Earth that really matter things

that will transcend time like investing in lives with our time

and our efforts are Gives energy.

Lord help us to be faithful to you.
