What Happens When We Worship | Week 5

Father. God, we, we love you and as we

have done so much in past days and weeks, we just cry out to

you. We cry out for strength.

Kraut for for mercy and for Grace.

We know that you're good to give it.

God, we love you so much and we love Colin Patricia and their

family so much. Lord, I pray that you just as

you have already done continued to just pour out your love on

this church and all these people, and all this family.

I pray, God, that you give us the strength to continue to

surround him with the love that they need the support that they

need. I pray that you give us wisdom

in the days to come, give us strength to know how to carry

on, in the midst of grief, as Kyle has already said we know we

can't just shut down and stop that we continue to praise you

though. You slay us no matter what

comes. We're always going to praise you

for it. We give you all the glory.

All the honor. We know that you're good as was

discussed yesterday. We know that in this You were

working together all things for the good of those who love those

who love you. God, we trust you in that.

Now, I ask you now that you be with us this morning, you speak

to us through your word and that you speak through a bumbling

idiot. God, we love you.

We Praise You. In Jesus Name, you have your

Bibles turn to Acts chapter 2. Want to read a passage to you

Acts 2 · chapter mention

from there? We have been going through a

series titled. What happens when we worship and

we have been looking at a couple of different things.

Kyle started this series and pointed out in the beginning

that we are created to worship. That's what we were made to do.

Every aspect of Our Lives. Should be an act of worship to

God. The Father, everything we do the

way we conduct ourselves that our jobs, the way we raise our

family. So way we drive in traffic, it

should all be an act of worship to God.

He followed up with a couple of other things that happen when we

worship, we become what we behold.

And we meet with God, he talked about how worship is not meant

to be done alone, that it's meant to be done corporately

with our family, with our church family together and only done in

that way. Can it be done properly?

And then last week James pointed out the Dual nature of worship

So today I want to end this series with another idea.

Another thing that happens when we worship, and it is the, the

title of the sermon today, it's that God, unites his people when

we worship together, when we come together and we worship

together as a family, God, unites his people If you are

able, would you please stand as we now read?

From the book of Acts chapter 2, I'm going to start at verse 42,

Acts 2 · chapter mention

And then, we will also read a little bit from chapter four

acts. To starting at verse 42 says,

they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles

teaching and to the fellowship and to the breaking of bread and

to prayer. Everyone kept feeling a sense of

all and Many Wonders and signs were taking place through the

apostles and all those who believed were together and had

all things in common and they began Man, selling their

property and possessions and we're sharing with them all.

Cheering them, all with all as anyone might have need day by

day continuing with one mind in the temple and breaking bread

from house to house, they were taking their meals together with

gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God, and having favor

with all the people and the Lord was adding to their number day

by day. Those who were being saved.

If you also look at chapter 4, Verse 32.

The congregation of those who believed were of one heart and

one Soul, not one of them claimed anything belonging to

him was his own, but all things were common property to them.

And with great power, the apostles were giving testimony

to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus and abundant grace was

upon them. All for there was not a needy

person, among them for all, who were owners of lands or houses

would sell them, and bring the proceeds of the sales and lay

them at the The apostles feet and they would be distributed to

each as he had need. Amen.

You can be seated what we see in these verses.

Is what life looked like for the very first New Testament Church.

This is all happening immediately.

After Jesus crucifixion, his death, burial and resurrection

and his Ascension into heaven. This is a roadmap.

This is a snapshot. This is history of the church

and how they conducted themselves immediately

afterward. How the church was built.

What they did. Can you imagine?

This is all pretty routine for us on Sundays, but they didn't

even know that they had no idea where to start.

What to do mean. They knew some things obviously

but This shows us how they conducted themselves and there

are some things that I want us to look at today that I think

can be very helpful to us, they gathered together in homes, they

gather together in the temple. They broke bread, they listen to

the apostles, teach and expound upon God's word, and they prayed

together. I have no doubt that they

probably sang together as well as was their custom.

They would have been a singing people.

It was just part of life. And if you'll notice and 2:42

and in verse 46 that they didn't just do this one day a week, not

just for one hour on one day a week, they did this continually

day by day, they gathered together and did this, they were

in constant constant Community with one another, some of them

even sold their houses and donated the money so that they

could meet the needs of others. So no doubt, some of them are

living together. Some people today might call

this a commune and it has a negative annotation to it.

We're not talking about the crazy Kool-Aid.

Drinking kind we're talking about the kind where people

truly sacrifice for one another and loved one.

Another Well gave up their possessions or whatever.

They could to help one another Now, this had a profound impact

on these people. They no longer look to their own

interests, but they look to the interest of their brothers and

their sisters in Christ. Verse 45 says that they were

doing this to meet one another's needs.

And so they they learned to love one another in a

self-sacrificing way. Just like Jesus had done, they

were learning to Model A Selfless Love just like Jesus

had for them and for all of us, It produced a result.

Within their community that was noticeable.

So the outside world. It was noticeable, you could see

it. Scripture talks about that.

It talks about Being Sanctified in a way that other people can

notice it, the let it be seen, but people noticed the change in

you, and these people were growing in a way that the world

around them noticed. Something is different about

those people. They became like one big family.

And that's how they loved one. Another.

In Matthew 12 and Jesus with crowd gathered around him and

told that his mother and his brothers were there to see him.

He says, This is my mother and brother.

These are, these are my mother and brother.

Whoever does the will of my Father in Heaven, is my brother

and my sister and my mother. And again, in Matthew 19, verse

Matthew 19:29

29, he says that everyone everyone who has left houses or

brothers or sisters, or Father's or mothers, or farms for my

namesake will receive many times as much.

A thousand times much. So, whatever.

Whatever, we may, give up to follow Christ, we gained in

following Christ. So today the point I'm trying to

make and all of this, my big idea to this sermon is that when

we worship together, when we come together and do what we're

doing now, when we do life together, we worship and we sing

and we break bread and we praise, and we do this.

We become family. Become Stanley.

Through the regular habits there, a lifestyle of

worshipping together, whether it be in your home groups on

Wednesday nights, where you're breaking bread, whether it be

through the, the corporate Gathering, where all those

groups are coming together Under One Roof on Sunday morning.

Whatever we do together we grow closer.

Our bond is strengthened and we become family through it all God

unites together. A people that otherwise would

not be United. Amen, I think we can all look

around this room and say that. If it weren't for Jesus Christ,

we would not be here. Some of us might be friends but

it is the bond of Jesus Christ that brings us together.

Otherwise most of us would never even know one another we would

never spend any time together. but Christ brings together

people from all walks of life, all backgrounds, all interests,

Hobbies jobs, Let me be clear. You are adopted into gods

family. At the moment of your

conversion. but that bond that familial Bond of being in God's

family, being Brothers and Sisters in Christ is

strengthened Strengthened through regularly gathering

together to worship to spend time together.

So I want you to understand that that it's not it's not by

gathering that we enter the family of God.

We enter it the moment we place our faith in Jesus but we cannot

strengthen that Bond alone. We must gather together as

family for that to happen, for us to jail and come together as

a family. This truth has been on full

display this week at this church, as we've already talked

about. I've never seen anything quite

like it. I've never been to a service

like the one we had yesterday. I've never been to a visitation

like that. I've never been a part of a

church like this. You all truly have been a

scripture talks about of one mind and one heart and it's

beautiful. Watching you all grow and your

faith in Jesus and your love for one another as our mission

statement says, over the last seven years, it has become

obvious that you guys are family.

A good one, too. I'm proud to be part of it, but

the thing that I am perhaps, the most proud of is your steadfast

faith in the midst of Trials. It reminds me of second

2 Thessalonians 1:3

Thessalonians 1:3 through for her.

Paul says to that church wrote that letter to the church at

thessalonica and he said we ought to always give thanks to

God for you Brethren as is only fitting because your faith is

greatly enlarged. And the love of each.

One of you toward one, another grows, even greater therefore we

ourselves will speak proudly of you among the Churches of God.

God for your perseverance and faith in the midst of all your

persecutions, which you endure. I think I could be wrong, but I

think that the verse that our mission statement is based on, I

know it's one of the intros of one of the letters somewhere,

okay? Essentially that thought doesn't

matter what letters. But multiple times Paul would

open a letter with commending, a church for their faith and their

love for one another. It's not the only time he does

it. So where it's found is

irrelevant. The fact is Paul was proud of

the churches for for demonstrating that and I'm proud

of you guys to you are living this out amazingly.

So thank you. It is our faith, Our Hope in

Jesus Christ that unites us that is what brings us together that

faith that common faith in Jesus Christ.

It's not just that we gather together.

It's that we do it in his name. Under the banner of our King.

Every time we gather together, he is our Cornerstone.

We sang that this morning through him, we are adopted and

grafted into his family. Ephesians 2:19 through 22 says

Ephesians 2:19–22

so then you are no longer strangers and Aliens.

But you are fellow citizens with the Saints and members of the

household of God, that is built on the foundation of the

Apostles and the prophets with Christ Jesus himself, being the

Cornerstone and whom the whole structure being joined together.

Grows into a holy Temple of the Lord and him, you are also being

built together into a dwelling place for God by the spirit.

And again, in John 1:12 to all who did receive him, who

John 1:12

believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of

God. So you see it as Christ that

unites us, it is Christ who sustains us and it is Christ

that will see us through to the end.

If you confess with your mouth, that Jesus Christ is Lord.

And you believe in your heart, that God raised him from the

dead. You will be saved.

According to Romans 10:9. And when you were saved, you

were saved from your sins and saved into the family of God

into his glorious righteousness. You are now a brother and sister

to Jesus himself, you are co-heirs of the Kingdom.

You're a son and a daughter of God almighty.

You share in that inheritance with Jesus.

That's what we are adopted into together as family when we

proclaim the name of Christ and that is beautiful to be in

perfect fellowship with God and our Brothers and Sisters in

Christ. It is a beautiful thing.

And it's so powerful. The scripture even says that the

Gates of Hell cannot Prevail against it.

He's talking about his church there, that's you.

And that is why. And how we can weep with those

who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice Because you aren't

just some church members that happen together together in the

same building. Once a week, we're family.

We do everything together cry together.

We laugh together. You sing together?

And it's all because of Christ. So if we have anybody here today

is visiting. I know we have a lot of family

that are here and I just want to thank you guys for your support

of this family. I don't know if there's anybody

here that is just first time. Visiting have no idea what's

going on. If that's you I'm not really

sorry. You get to see what it looks

like to be a part of a actual church that does this as well.

Life is messy. sometimes it really stinks, but You know, we

live in a fallen world. We were told to expect, trials,

and tribulations, But we were also told that we have what we

need to get through it and it's so much so much easier and

sweeter to go through that together with a church van.

So much easier. and if you don't know that, if you don't know

that kind of community, if you don't have that kind of family,

I want you to know that you can We invite you to be a part of

that here. Jesus himself invite you to be a

part of that. Matthew 11:28, he says, come to

Matthew 11:28

me all who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for.

I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your

souls. For my yoke is easy.

My burden is light. All you have to do is repent and

believe. Believe it in your heart,

confess it with your mouth. Church.

I want to ask you. I know I don't have to but I

want to ask you to continue to love and support this family.

In the days weeks, months to come even years.

I've heard from so many. So many different pastors over

the last week, trying to encourage me and us and how to

fill the lead you guys and how to be a friend to Kyle that.

So many times, what happens is it for the first week or so,

there's so many people, reaching out and can be smothering and

then everybody goes back to normal.

So I want to encourage you right now.

Coming weeks coming days, reach out to him, love them.

Well, don't stop. Don't stop supporting and loving

your church. Lift one.

Another up. Bear one another's burdens.

We're told in Scripture that when we bear one another's,

burdens that we are fulfilling the law of Christ.

A lot of times we think Christ came and he fulfilled the law

and kind of instituted a new thing, right?

The laws kind of done, we don't have to worry about that.

But Christ has a law. He told us that we are to love

one another but we are to love the Lord with all our heart,

mind and soul. And we're love to love our

neighbor as ourself. And so in bearing, one

another's. Surgeons were doing that for

fulfilling the law of Christ to love one another as we love our

own selves so I encourage you to continue to do this.

Don't lose hope we have sang. Some glorious truth this morning

about God and His goodness. We know that he's good through

all of this. So Church hold on to that faith.

That unites us, hold on, to your hope.

We know that this world is not our home but this is temporary

We know that these present sufferings are not worth

comparing to the glory. That is to be revealed us.

And we know that in this world, we are going to have trials and

tribulations. It's not a matter of if it's

just win. But take heart, Jesus has

overcome the world. When I pray for you, father, we

love you. Oh God, we continually just cry

out God that he would be with us, he would lift us up.

He would give us this hope and this faith that we just cannot

cannot muster on our own. God, I pray that you fill us

with your spirit. That you help us to love one

another that you help us to Bear one another's, burdens, always

and that other results of this just like an ax to that the

world around us would see. And would notice that

something's different and that they would want to come find out

about it. They would want to be a part of

it and that just like an axe that you would add to our number

because of it that our sufferings would not be in vain.

But would serve to promote the gospel to make you famous.

God, we love you and we give you all the glory.

This morning, all the honor. Thank you so much for your
