Chapter 2. We are in week three of the

series called Happy the Home. God's design for family.

So we're. Examining the scriptures to see.

God's design. For the home today, my.

Sermon is on womanhood. From creation If you missed last

week, it. Was manhood from creation and we

had a good time. With that, and I hope today to

do. Something very similar just

provide for you a high view. Of womanhood of what God has

called. Women specifically to be and to

do how he's designed and created.

Them uniquely and that this is something worth.

Celebrating it's it's not. Something worth getting rid of

so still you buddy. So in last week's installment,

we observed that God made the man Ouch.

That last, that last flood, was his.

Head on the door. So there we go.

Never fails that when your kids throwing a fit.

They injure themselves. Or I just like if you would just

calm down just a little, we could avoid.

Some of those, so. All right, so.

Last week's installment? We observed how God.

Created the man and he created. The man was it inside or

outside? Of the guard somebody answer

that outside or I was outside the.

Then he created the garden, and he put the man into the garden

and. He told him to do.

What can anybody remember? Work it and keep it.

Very good. All right, You guys are good.

Listeners, that makes me happy that are you just good readers

of your word which? Also makes me happy so so he he

set him. In the garden to work it and

keep it. And today we're going to look at

is the creation. Of woman so man's in the garden.

He's called to work and to keep. And it's just the man there

currently. So today we're going to observe.

How God created the woman? And and what that means?

For what I'll just call biblical.

Womanhood the reason I'll use the term.

Biblical womanhood is because it's the.

Phrase we use around here often as we think about especially.

Our our women's group that meets weekly, we think about biblical.

Womanhood and in. Men's group We Think about

Biblical. Manhood often.

So I want to. I want to do that because I hope

to always. Be calling you to.

The scriptures and to trust and to believe what the scriptures

say. About particular things, but

especially about the sexes. It really matters in our world

today what we think about the sexes as far as, especially as

far as God's word. Says these things.

So the definition I have for you today is this.

Biblical womanhood bears the image of God by nourishing and

cherishing all that God grants a woman in Christ's strength.

All right, so. If you're taking notes, I

encourage. You to write that down, Biblical

woman. That bears the image of.

God, by nourishing and cherishing all that God grants a

woman in Christ's strength. All right.

You can finish that in just a second.

When I'm finished reading, I'll say this is the word of the

Lord, so if you're visiting with us, I ask you to.

Respond Thanks be to God. This is our way of.

Setting God's word above. Man's word as we begin to look

at it today. Genesis 218.

Through 25 Then the Lord. God said it is not good.

That the man should be alone. I will make him a helper fit for

him. And now sorry, now out of the

ground the Lord God had formed every beast of the.

Field and every bird of the heavens.

And brought them to the man to see what he.

Would call them, and whatever the man called every living

creature. That was its name.

The man gave names to all livestock, into the birds of the

heavens, and to every beast of the field but for Adam.

There was not found a helper fit for him, so the Lord God caused

the deep sleep. To fall upon the man, and while

he slept, took one of his. Ribs and closed up its place

with flesh. And the rib that the Lord God.

Had taken. From the man he made.

Into a woman and brought her to the man.

Then the man said this at last is.

Bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.

She shall be called. Woman because she was taken.

Out of man, therefore a man shall leave his father and his.

Mother, hold fast to his. Wife and they shall become one

flesh, And the man and his wife were both naked.

And we're not ashamed. This is the word of the Lord.

Thanks me to God, Let's pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you

for your word. We thank you, Lord.

For the time that we have now in it, and we ask, Lord, that you

would illuminate these verses for us by the power of your

spirits, so. That we might know them.

Might understand them and believe.

And that we might commit ourselves to the things that you

call us to do. Lord, I thank you for.

The time we have now to study your.

Word and we pray, Lord, that you be.

With us in this, Lord, I stand before you today, as always.

Really just. In need of your strengths.

And your mercy, and your grace and your help.

Today. And so I asked, Lord, that you

would strengthen. And that you would help me to

preach your word. But that ultimately what people

here today is not the words of Kyle, but the words of Christ.

Lord his. Words are what truly nourish us.

It His words are what truly grow us up and mature us well.

It truly help us. Become the men, the women, the

boys, the girls that you've called us to be.

And so we asked. For your help today in this it's

in the name of Christ, I pray. Amen, Amen.

And in Genesis? 127, which we looked at a couple

of weeks ago, we we read that. God.

Created man in his own image in the image.

Of God he created Him. Male and female he created.

And so we see. From the very beginning, and I

told you last week, the Genesis. One is kind of a it's a 30,000.

Foot view of the creation. Of the man and woman.

Genesis chapter 2 gets into a much more detailed.

Account of how they were created, what took place.

In that time and so and then in Genesis.

Two, what we're seeing here is that the Lord God caused the

deep sleep to fall. Upon the man, and while he

slept, he took his one of his ribs, he closed.

Up the place with flesh, and out of the rib God he created a.

Woman and brought him to or brought her sorry.

To the man now. There's an old joke that my dad.

Said I had to say. And how many are?

You're supposed to be obedient to your parents, right?

So there's a joke that goes this way.

That God. Comes to the man, he says.

Look, it's not good for you to be alone.

I'm going to make a helper fit for you.

And Adam, says Okay. He says, well, you know what's

it going to take and and God said, well, it's going to cost

you. An arm and a leg.

And Adam says well. What can I get for a rib right?

So that's that's the old joke, so.

I want you to know that despite the.

Or lack of humor, anyway, of such a joke.

The biblical narrative here. Ascribes glory to womanhood.

It describes the very. Glory of God to womanhood that

he that that she is created. In his image and in his likeness

and women are not a second rate creation.

And and I do recognize that throughout history, it is.

Women and children that have bore the greatest burden of.

Men who? Exercise dominion in the worst

ways, right? It's it's women and children who

are most often taken advantage of in those things.

But God made the woman. In his image.

And we need to recognize. This we need to celebrate this

Won't manhood and womanhood bear the image of God at creation?

But this is. Intrinsically true of their

value and of of why we should celebrate the sexes.

God created the sexes. Male and female and called it

very good and. So this is a very good.

Thing right that that when he when he observes creation after

that last day. He looks at all of it and says

this is very good and. When a woman embraces her

feminine nature, it's a very good thing It's a.

Thing for a woman to. Be a woman.

After all, she is. The glory of man, that's what

Paul. Writes in the First Corinthians.

1 Corinthians 11:7

11 verse 7. He says a man is the.

Image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man.

He continues. For man was not.

Made from woman, but woman from man.

Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.

And so two weeks ago we established that because God

created. Man last of all creation.

And in his own image. But there's a unique value.

Placed upon them as the. Crown Jewel of Creation.

They are what caused God to say it is very good.

Prior to that, everything was good.

The. Lord saw it, and it was good.

The Lord saw it and it was good. The.

Lord saw it and it was good. And then he gets to this and

it's the Lord saw all. That he had made and said it is

very good. And so there's a unique value in

this. Mankind is the best and most

excellent of all of God's. They are the.

Ones who are created in his image.

Again, you look at, you could go.

Back and listen to week one of the series.

If you want to hear more about that, I'm not trying to

resurrect an old. Sermon here to to get to.

Get the point across, but I want to remind.

Us of these things Eaves. Being made after Adam Eves Being

made out of Adam. Even puts an.

Honor and a dignity upon. As the glory.

Of man so if. Man is the head, she is the.

A crown to her husband. The crown of the visible.

Creation Matthew. Henry puts it this way.

He. Says the man was dust.

But the woman was dust. Double refined, one removed

further from the earth. I like that.

Once again, we see that. Adam had nothing to do with

God's creative work. Which is important to note.

He he notices that there's not a helper fit for.

He sees that after naming all of the creatures that God paraded

before. This was part of his working and

keeping this was part of his work as God's vice.

Region on the earth it was to subdue.

Creation it was to. Name them and whatever he called

them that was. Its name, but he gets to.

The end of that long line of. Creatures, and he sees that.

There's not a helper fit for him, but what could Adam do

about? Nothing.

He has no power to create. He's.

He is. He is not a creator, all right,

he simply. Named the creation.

He didn't. Create those things.

And so we see that he's aware. Of his need for a helper, but

he. Cannot create a helper.

Himself doesn't even. Really know what he needs.

Just notices that it's lacking and so he rest.

As one who has cast his cares. Upon the Lord right He's he.

Falls into a deep sleep, the Lord.

Puts him into a deep. Sleep and he.

Trusts in the infinite wisdom and the will.

Of God, and God brings. Forth a woman, a helper fit for

him. This further signifies the glory

of the woman. As man's helper and we see that,

I think. Also in the way that she was

created. This something that.

That Matthew Henry pointed out and saw years ago.

But. It's made its way into pretty

much every marriage sermon I've ever preached.

He says this. He says she was made of a rib

out of his side. Not made out of, out of his head

to. Rule over him.

Nor out of his feet. To be trampled upon by him.

But out of his side to be. Equal with him under his arm, to

be protected by him, and near to his heart to be loved by him.

It's wonderful truth, right? Biblical.

Then the kind of womanhood that nourishes and cherishes all that

God grants to her. And we're going to see more.

About that in a moment. And as she's doing this in

Christ's strength. Kind of womanhood is under

attack now, similar to. The Irony of the L GB TQ.

Plus movement branding. Itself under the one word.

Pride the modern feminist movement.

And its preceding ways brand themselves under feminism.

Now the irony of. Forsaking all that God declares

feminine from creation as they work to create a new definition

of. Femininity should not be lost on

us using the same name, today's feminists.

Fight for abortion on demand. They fight for language

equality. Insisting on saying chairperson

instead. Of chairman, for example.

They, they fight for the. Blurring of gender lines.

The more radical. Feminists actively seek to

overthrow any trace of male dominance in society.

They oppose the biblical roles of.

Husbands and Wives and promotes. Lesbianism.

Radical feminists deny that there is any difference between.

Men and women teaching that any perceived differences between

the. Sexes are due solely to social

conditioning. Wow, now you can look across the

room if you're a. Man at women or look at your

wife. And you can see clearly that

there are. Differences and those

differences. Are natural.

They're they're wired. Into a woman wired into a man

at. Creation.

It's good and right that we're different that.

We're built different. Now that's not social

conditioning, that's common sense, which, oddly, isn't so

common this it's. So here's what we know.

About the feminist movement. The modern feminist movement.

Especially they are anti God. They are anti wifehood, anti

motherhood, anti modesty. And therefore altogether they

are. Anti woman again.

The irony is not lost on me here.

It's a satanic movement. And it should be repudiated as

such. And so, I urge call even all of

you Christian women to fight. Against Modern Feminism by.

Growing in your knowledge of God.

Growing in your understanding of what?

Godliness is by. Growing in your understanding of

the wonderful call that God. Has on your life as women.

Who may or may not become wives, who may or may not become

mothers, but just simply. In your design we believe those

things knowledge of such. Growing in these things, growing

in godliness. Growing in the knowledge of God.

Growing in his understanding the wonderful call that he's.

Placed on you. We believe those.

Things will lead women old. And young?

To spend their lives for the glory of the Lord.

To spend their lives in good works.

Toward their neighbors. That your neighbor might be your

husband or your child, or it could be a coworker, or a friend

could be a church member. Could be literally your neighbor

on your street, right it it. Leads you in good works to such.

Biblical. Womanhood, then, is faith in

Christ and love for others in action.

It's putting those things in action.

Now I am encouraged. I try to kind of keep up with

some of the things going on in the US especially, especially.

Within churches across EU. S And so I'm encouraged by what

appears to be a. Resurgence of biblical womanhood

among Western Christians. I'm especially encouraged to see

the ladies in this. Church, both young and old.

Striving. Side by side in pursuit of.

Biblical womanhood. But I I.

Want to encourage you ladies to to do?

Well, in studying what God's word says about.

Womanhood to to see it and to. Believe it.

And that's part of what the? Series is designed to do it's to

to help both of us men and. Women to see what God's word

says about what he's called us to.

Especially in building households.

And so you would do well to study God's Word to see what it

says. About womanhood, you would do

even more better to do so alongside.

Your husband if you're married or alongside the ladies of

Biblical. Womanhood or they're married or?

And then to submit yourself to God's wise design.

You. And his wise will for you then I

think you get to reap. The benefits?

Of what God-given womanhood looks like as you submit

yourself. To those things.

Proverbs 31 says this. It says that.

Her children rise up and call her blessed.

Her husband also and he. Praises her and this is what he

said. This is what they say.

Many women have done excellently, but you surpass

them all in first thirty. We read that.

Charm is deceitful and beauty is.

Vain but a woman who? Fears the Lord is to be.

Praised one way you might word that is say that.

Godliness is attractive for a lifetime beauty.

But godliness is always attractive.

It never fades. And in verse 31 it says give her

of. The fruit of her.

Hands and let her works praise her.

In the gates it'll be. Known the kind of.

Woman who is godly right, it's seen and it's praised.

Biblical womanhood bears the. Image of God by nourishing and

cherishing all that God grants a woman in Cross.

And so I'm just. Trying to.

In this first sermon on womanhood and as we get into

subsequent sermons in the future where we'll deal with.

Things a little more specifically.

Today I'm just trying to raise your.

Awareness that God's design is good.

That's right, it's holy. That it's your design as a woman

is not. Some product of the fall, there

are issues. In womanhood and manhood as a

result of the fall, yes. But the fact.

That you're a woman. The fact that you were built the

way you're. Built and the fact.

That you're designed the way you're designed is good and.

It's a part of God's creation and it's worthy of celebration.

Let's we get into what it means to nourish and cherish.

Nourishing and cherishing, specifically, all that God

grants a woman. And the Lord God said.

I want to read to you again, verse 18.

The Lord God said it's not. Good, that the man should be

alone. I will make him a helper fit for

him. And then in verse 20 we read but

for Adam after he named all of the livestock and the.

Birds of the heavens and every beast of the field says but for.

Adam there was not a helper. There was not found a helper fit

for him. So if the man was going to truly

work and keep all that God grants to him in the garden as.

God had told him to do if he was going to be fruitful and

multiply as the. Word came down in chapter one if

he was going to. Truly subdue the earth and.

Exercise dominion as the word came down in chapter One as

well. Then he couldn't be alone.

For that God declares it not good for him to be alone,

because you can't be fruitful and multiply on your own men.

You need a wise. And it's good to desire a godly

wife. As a man carries authority that

was dedicated to him by God, that is working and keeping, so

also a woman carries authority. Dedicated to her by God, which

is to be a helper fit for him and in all.

Of that so that together they can be fruitful and multiply so

that together they can. Subdue creation and exercise

dominion as God's vice Regents on the earth.

So what is a helper? Well, the the Biblical word for

helper here. Has the sense of a person who

contributes to the fulfillment of a need.

Or the furtherance of an effort or.

What was the effort or purpose? What was the need to be

fruitfully multiplied to work and to keep?

Right to. Exercise dominion and subdued

creation and and so the woman is meant, then by God to be a help.

Meet for the man which is the King James word Help meet.

To contribute to his labors of working and keeping all that

God. Grants to him yet as a woman.

She carries a different. Role which is intrinsic to her

design and her. Makeup she is.

To nourish and cherish all that God grants to her.

That. That's not to say there's never

any working and keeping for the woman.

After all, nourishing and cherishing is important to

working and keeping. It's they go hand in hand.

You. You have to nourish and cherish

the things you're working and keeping.

This is how you work together. And a man doesn't escape the

duty of nourishing and cherishing either God.

Commands men to nourish and cherish their wives and.

Ephesians 529 using those exact. Words nourish and cherish.

Your wife, as Christ does the church.

It says so. Then you have to.

Ask What does it mean to nourish?

What are What are we saying by the word nourish?

Will the word nourish there in 529?

Of Ephesians is to nourish up to maturity.

It's to nurture, to bring. Up and it's to provide the

necessary components for something to grow up, to mature,

to become beautiful or productive.

Now, what's interesting about this?

Is the man commits himself. To this work with his.

Wife, and then she commits herself to that work in.

The home and in this. Way they work together.

What does it mean to? Cherish is to warm, to keep

warm, to cherish with tender love, to foster with tender

care. In another word, it might.

Be to provide. The necessary environment for

something to grow up, to mature, to become beautiful and.

So you see, it's it's the wife's role.

It's the woman's role in society, the wife's role in a

home. To nourish and cherish it's.

Provide the. Elements needed for the maturing

and the growing up. For the sustenance that it takes

to nourish. Something to maturity, but also.

To build the place where the nourishing and cherishing takes

place where the cherishing. Is found right where you find

the love, the warmth. Of love in a home.

A wife does that far. Better than a husband does.

And she she helps. Him in those things one good.

Example of this is your child's coloring.

Sheets today in the Worship Guide, if you got one of those.

Last week it was a picture of a farmer working and keeping his

land. He's out there.

And by the sweat of his brow, he is bringing home the bacon baby.

He's gathering the produce. All right, this week it's a

woman training her child. How to use the stuff?

Grown on the land to feed the family he's working and keeping.

She's nourishing and cherishing. Another example might be your

own work and your own keeping men in your home, right?

You work and keep week to week. On the job, right?

So that you have a house to live in, in our home, Patricia's home

with our children. Which is the.

The the way we've. Chosen to do it.

It's just based on our convictions.

But she's nourishing and cherishing all week, so that

our. Family has a home to live in.

You see the difference? I might provide the raw.

Goods but she. Takes those raw goods and turns

them into something beautiful, desirable, and often times

edible. So I'm not saying there's no

crossover. I'm not saying there's not

working and keeping done on a woman's part and not nourishing

and cherishing done on a man's part.

Absolutely there are. But we cannot unwisely skip over

your intrinsic design, right? That's what feminists are doing.

That's the goal of. Of their work.

Not the Bible. The Bible.

Lays out specific tasks and roles.

For men and women to fulfill based on how God.

Has designed them by nature. With who they are, Proverbs 14.

One that's it's a verse feminist love, I'm sure.

Proverb. 14-1, says the wisest of women, builds her house, but

folly with her own. Hands tears it down.

The wisest of women builds her. House What does that?

It means she's committed to doing these things.

The building the home is the first priority of womanhood.

And and in Titus Two we see the same thing in Titus 2.

Versus 3 through 5, it's. Instructions.

There, it says. Older women, likewise, are to be

reverent in behavior. Not slanders or slaves too much.

One, they're to teach. What is good?

And so train the young women to love their husbands and

children, to be self controlled, pure, working at home, kind and.

Submissive to their own husbands that the Word of God may not be

reviled. The interesting thing there is

that the word. Of God is at stake.

In this. Which makes total sense again if

you look. At the movements of today and

the the destruction of. Households, it becomes very.

Clear that the word of God is at stake because it's the word of

God that gets mocked the most when people.

Strive to live this way and then when.

People aren't living this way. That makes a mockery.

Of the word of God as well. And so when this is cultivated

in a woman, especially in her early childhood.

Years you see it blossom so beautifully in front of your

eyes when a mother enters the work of nourishing and

cherishing with joy her daughter's.

Desire to do, to come alongside her and to do the same things.

It's natural, is what I'm trying to say in in preparing the

sermon this week. Which you guys?

Keep us in prayer. This weekend marks the one year.

Anniversary of when he's passing.

So that that's why it's difficult when he's.

Again, if you're visiting, you stumbled into a whole thing

here. My daughter, Winnie.

Passed away last. Year on the 4th at.

She was six years old and so for a year we've been kind of

walking. This road together as a church

as well, so I'm preparing. The sermon this.

Week particularly, probably because of the anniversary

looming. Over my head, but also just

looking at. Womanhood and the nurture and

the nourishing and cherishing of homes.

I couldn't help but think of Winnie often.

So maybe you'll forgive me if I say just a little something

about Winnie here. She was the perfect picture of a

little girl striving to become. What the Bible describes.

Of womanhood. Now, would she have worded it

that way? No, no, she was 6.

But she. Was, and it was obvious each day

she nourished and cherished her family.

You can ask her brothers how much she cared for them, how

much they cared for her, and certainly hear.

It on the lips of Patricia and I as we think about her often and

talk about her. But but Wendy's nourishing and

cherishing it didn't know any dark corners.

It extended to everything in her care she took.

Care of her room, she made sure that her Barbie.

House was tidy and neat, which is has to be nearly impossible

as I can tell so many things there.

The produce section and the Barbie shop was organized.

You know and still is still sits there.

She took care of everything. She cooked.

She cleaned one of my. Favorite pictures of hers?

She's standing on a chair in our kitchen.

Putting pepperonis on pizza. Homemade pizza.

Haddon knew letters and numbers. He's our four year old.

He knew letters and numbers far sooner than he should have

because. Winnie imitated her mom's

homeschooling with him, often taking her into a room or

sitting at a board and helping him learn.

To write letters. And numbers, and to know to know

those things. When he was kind, she was

independent in mostly the right. It got her in trouble a time or

two, but I liked her independence.

She was beautiful inside and outside.

Why? You know, you look.

At something like that, you look at little girls like that and

there's. Many of the same kinds of little

girls in this room today. I'm just going on my fatherly

experience with Winnie. Why though?

Is it because they're moms or super moms?

I mean we should praise. Them as such, but in reality,

no, they're not super. Moms, right?

That it's not not. The the reason little girls grow

up. Loving those kinds of things is

because the leaders in the home, the mom and the dad.

Work daily on submitting themselves, submitting their

children and their. Household to God's rule and

design becomes a part of what you're wanting to build, and so

you get it wrong. A.

Lot and God knows. We get it wrong often, but but

there's grace for that. There's there's grace upon grace

as we read. In John this Week in home

groups, the Lord honors his. Commands by blessing those who

obey him. Like you won't be.

Put to shame by saying I'm going to abide in.

Christ never going to happen, and so I.

Encourage you ladies, both young and old.

And I don't mean old and like a weird, you know, being.

Hateful sense at all. It's A-frame of mind, right Mr.

into, but I encourage you whether.

You're 6 or 66. And to pursue God's design for

womanhood, not the world's. There's a great blessing in

returning to the good work of nourishing and cherishing all

that God grants. To you that the description,

the, the. Deception of feminism, I should

say. Is that those women?

Who see themselves as free from the bondage of a husband or

even. Those women who say making the

home my number one priority isn't for me.

But I just, I don't do that. I don't do that.

Well, the irony of. That, or the deception.

Really of that is that there are nourishing and cherishing some

other man's company. They're nourishing and

cherishing some other man's property.

Some other person's things you understand what I mean like.

You go to work, you're you're helping him out.

Why not help your? Husband out in your home, right?

And so you don't want to help. Someone else subdue an exercise.

Dominion, when you're subduing and exercising, has been

decided. For you, by God, in your

household. So why not give yourselves

primarily to building? A household.

Now the thing about building a household is you can be single

or married and build households, right?

There are single women who have not yet been married, don't yet

have children, and you can be committed.

To building households. In that way you can commit.

Yourself to the good work of this, to creating the kind of

home if the Lord should. Call you to marriage that you

would want to have with a husband.

But even if not, you can use such a home in the.

Service of God to his. And you should.

You should think through those. Things Some of you are single

with children and ladies. You may be in that space because

of a man who abdicated on his responsibilities.

Like we talked about last week. And I want you to know that you

are in a tough. Spot I see it.

I understand that. But the Lord cares for you.

The Lord is near to you. In your broken heartedness, the

Lord will strengthen you. For the work that.

He has for you of. Raising those children in a

godly home. And if she if he should grant 1

the repentance of said husband or.

Another husband in the future? So be it.

But you can't wait on that. You have to nourish and cherish.

Today, you have to get busy with the work that God's called you

to. You can't.

You can't sit. And sulk.

And I know that's a tough thing to think through.

But God will strengthen you the other thing that you can

think. Through is for all ladies.

Is how can I nourish and cherish the church that I'm in?

How? Can I be of service?

To the to the men and women of God, and the boys and girls.

Of God that. He's placed me in community with

how can I give myself. To them right and nourish and

cherish that community. There's there's great, great

benefit, Paul said. Even in First Corinthians 7.

Of those who are single. That and this is single without

children, but those who are single.

With no children, no marriage. Is that?

You don't have the entanglements.

Of the. Worries of a home yet, And so

you can give yourself to those things more fully.

As as one who doesn't. Have to yet take care of a

house. And so in that way you can learn

how to nourish and cherish even better and be more prepared.

For that day when? God might grant a husband.
