Now I want you to listen closely. I know I'm
-
speaking to men and women who understand something about the
-
world that most people never see. You see the sunrise
-
over the Atlantic and sent over the Pacific. You know
-
the loneliness of the midnight stretch of asphalt in the
-
middle of Nebraska. You know the hum of a diesel
-
engine and the way the white lines on the pavement
-
can start to blur after a thousand miles. But also
-
know that many of you carry a heavy burden in
-
that cab. It's not afraid in the trailer. It's the
-
weight on your heart. It's the ache of being three
-
states away from the people you love. It's the feeling
-
that while you're out there and provide for your family,
-
you're slowly becoming a stranger to them, and maybe, just
-
maybe you feel like a stranger to God who Today
-
I want to talk to you about maintaining closeness, closeness
-
with your family, and closeness with your Creator, even when
-
you're a thousand mile from home. The Bible says in
-
Saw one thirty nine, verse seven through ten, where can
-
I go from your spirit? Where can I flee from
-
your presence? If I go up to the heavens.
-
You are there.
-
I make my bed in the depths.
-
You are there.
-
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if
-
I set on the far side of the sea, even there,
-
your hand will guide me. Your right hand will hold
-
me fast. My friends, there's no stretch of highways so desolate,
-
no truck stops so lonely, and no night so dark
-
that God is not right there in your passenger's seat
-
with you. You may be far from your zip code,
-
but you're never ever far from His grace. The first
-
thing we must realize is that our relationship with God
-
doesn't depend on a church building. I love the church,
-
and the Bible says we should not forsake the assembling
-
of ourselves together. But for you, the cab of that
-
truck is your sanctuary. That driver's seat is your pew.
-
Many drivers tell me brand it, I'm too busy shifting
-
gears and watching traffic to pray. But the Bible says
-
to pray without season. That doesn't mean you close your eyes,
-
please keep your eyes on the road. It means you
-
live in a constant state of conversation with the Almighty.
-
You see, God's interested in your life. He's interested in
-
that delivery deadline. He's interested in that mechanical trouble you're
-
having when you're rolling down the interstate. Talk to him,
-
Tell him your fears, tell him your frustrations. The Bible says,
-
cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for
-
you the first Peter five seven. Don't want that Bible
-
sit on the dashboard gathering dust. Let it be the
-
map for your soul, he says. You wouldn't dream of
-
driving a route without a GPS or a map. Don't
-
try to navigate the temptations and the lonelyiness of the
-
road without the word of God. The Bible is God's
-
letter to you. It's his way of saying I love you,
-
I have a plan for you. I will never leave
-
you nor forsake you. Now, what about your family. I
-
know the pain of the long haul. I've spent much
-
of my life traveling the roads, leaving my wife, Stacy
-
and our kids at home. I know what it's like
-
to miss a birthday, to miss a school play, to
-
miss the quiet moments of a Sunday afternoon. The devil
-
wants to use those miles to build a wall between
-
you and your spouse, between you and your kids. He
-
wants you to feel isolated. He wants your family to
-
feel abandoned. But you can bridge that gap through the
-
power of the Holy Spirit and intentionality. The Bible tells
-
us in Proverbs twenty two six to train up a
-
child in the way he should go. You can still
-
leave your family from one thousand miles away. In this
-
age of technology, there's no excuse. Call them, not just
-
to talk about the bills of the weather, but to
-
pray with them. Lets your kids hear their father's voice
-
or their mother's voice talking to God. Let your spouse
-
know that they are on your priority. I want to
-
challenge you. Don't just provide for their physical needs, provide
-
for their spiritual needs. Be the spiritual anchor of your home,
-
even from a sleeper cap. When you stay close to God,
-
he gives you a supernatural love that can reach across
-
state lines. He gives you the patience to listen when
-
you're tired. He gives you the words to say when
-
you're frustrated. But there's a deeper question I must to
-
ask you today. You spend your life making sure your
-
cargo reaches its destination. Check your logs to check your fuel,
-
you check your tires. You're focused on the finish line.
-
But let me ask you, where's your soul headed? What's
-
your ultimate destination? The Bible tells us that we're all
-
travelers on the road of life, and there are only
-
two roads. Jesus said, enter through the narrow gate, for
-
why is the gate, and broad as the road that
-
leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small
-
as the gate, and there the road that leads to life,
-
and only if you find it Matthew seven thirteen to fourteen.
-
You may be the best driver on the road, he
-
may have a million miles without an accident. But if
-
you don't know Jesus Christ as your Lord savior, you're
-
on the wrong road. You're headed for a dead end.
-
God loves you so much that he sent his son
-
Jesus Christ to die on the cross for your sins.
-
He took the wreck that we deserve so we could
-
have a clear path to heaven. He rose again from
-
the grave to give you hope, not just for the
-
next mile, but for returnity. When you have Christ in
-
your heart, the loneliness of the road begins to fade.
-
Why because you have a friend who sticks closer than
-
a brother, a peace that passes all understanding.
-
You have a home.
-
Waiting for you that no amount of miles can take away.
-
I'm asking you today to make a decision. I'm asking
-
you to pull over spiritual speaking and check your heart.
-
If you've been drifting, if you've left the road, that
-
the road come between you and God. Will the road
-
come between you and your family? Today's to day to
-
turn it around. First, if you've never given your life
-
to Jesus Christ, do it right now. You don't need
-
a fancy prayer to say and mean it in your
-
heart to say the Lord, I'm a sinner. I've been
-
driving my own life and I've made a mess of it.
-
I believe you die for me. Come into my heart
-
and take the wheel. And Second, I want you to
-
commit to a daily pre trip inspection for your soul
-
before you start that engine. Every morning, spend five minutes
-
in the Word of God, five minutes in prayer. Ask
-
God to protect your family and to keep you close
-
to him. Third, make it a point to connect with
-
your family every single day with a spiritual purpose. Don't
-
just check in, Pray with them over the phone, tell
-
them you love them, and tell them that God is
-
what God is doing in your life. Road is along,
-
the nights are lonely. But I promise you on the
-
authority of the Word of God that if you walk
-
with him, he will walk with you. He will bring
-
you home, not just to your house at the end
-
of week, but to His house at the.
-
End of the journey.
-
May God bless you. They keep your hands steady on
-
the wheel, May keep your heart anchor and his love.
-
I've been rolling down this highway from near three weeks
-
from more.
-
Apart from my wife and family.
-
But I Lord, I'm rolling for to love and protect
-
and never forget the good Lord gave it all. I
-
don't take for granted that grace he's saying it. I'm
-
still answering the call. But he wasn't. Alais answering. I
-
needed saving. Every day miles roll since way, Grace is
-
riding shot.
-
I was lost.
-
I was glad, so hard to find from mercy tracking
-
me down time. Now I'm standing in flood. Yeah, I
-
believe in the blood. Yeah, I believe in the blood.
-
Now the only way I'm holding rides on the back
-
of the rig.
-
Still can't see why he died from me. Cold the
-
hot or be now I'm looking.
-
That's help my brother passing on down the line, and
-
when my savior comes from me will roll on streets.
-
It's shining because I remain. I know where I came
-
from and the man I was running from by from
-
things way time race his ride and shot jump. I
-
was lost. I was blind, so hard to.
-
Fine a birsty track me down in time.
-
Now I'm standing in a floo. Yeah, I believed in
-
the blood. I believed in the burn. I was down
-
to my last dollar in a prayer I couldn't say.
-
Then I felt and pulled me from the dark and
-
dying being the same.
-
Lives long since way till but grass riding shot shot.
-
I was lost. I was glad and so hard fella.
-
But now I believed than live behind and of coldingnis
-
love ye.
-
I believed in blur. Now'm moving home for good, and
-
I believe in the blood.
