-
We're in week 4 of possible. I pray that this Series has been
-
helpful to you. To think that God, who did The
-
Impossible Vin still does the impossible things.
-
Now, he makes what seems impossible to you possible
-
because of his goodness and his mercy and his love.
-
So today's message and week for is called where courage comes
-
from, and when I say that you should go.
-
Mmm, where courage comes from, Yeah.
-
Sounds like a group of people been fasting.
-
A long time. Let's begin today.
-
With the end in mind. So having an idea of where we're
-
headed from the very beginning by singing, A Hymn of our faith,
-
that is older and beautiful, and wonderful.
-
You may know this him and you may not know this him.
-
If you do know it, I need you to sing with gusto Gusto.
-
However, he said that word, and if you don't know the him, I
-
want you to fake. It like you do and just like let
-
words and sounds come out of your mouth.
-
Are you ready? Say yes.
-
The words will be up here. Here we go.
-
Oh Victory in Jesus, my Savior forever.
-
You know what he saw me and Bob me with his redeeming blood, he
-
loved me ere. I knew him.
-
And all my love is due him. He plunged me to Victory beneath
-
the cleansing flood. Y'all sound great Victory.
-
We are going to fight some Giants today, and the Giants are
-
going to lose some of you like that.
-
If you're an Eagles fan, but the Giants of our lives are going to
-
lose and Heads Will Roll. You may have forgotten this part
-
of the story of David and Goliath.
-
And they don't teach it in VBS very often Tish probably does
-
because she's like a strict Bible person.
-
Like we're learning the whole Bible not parts of the Bible but
-
David chops off the head of Goliath.
-
Sing. I love this.
-
I mean, Why does he do that? I'm just trying to picture a VBS
-
teacher, trying to teach this like, okay?
-
Then David Seung to slingshot and the giant fell down and then
-
he dropped off his hat. Why would you chop off a head?
-
And there's a few reasons but the one I want to focus on just
-
for a second. Here is just like to make sure
-
it's really dead. because I don't know about you, if you
-
ever have these Giants who get like these Terminator bodies and
-
you think that they're dead, But then their eyes are guilty and
-
it comes back to visit you and you have this moment of panic
-
and almost causes you to lose your faith.
-
Like God, I thought this giant was dead.
-
So today we're going to chop off the heads.
-
Of some Giants. Heads Will Roll.
-
I believe it's victory season for Luminate church, I believe
-
it's a season where you things that you have seen as battles,
-
your entire life. And have even said to yourself,
-
man, this is The Thorn In My Flesh and some things are thorns
-
in the flesh that God leaves on purpose, so that you can know
-
the sufficiency of his grace. But there's other things that
-
have been visiting you for far too long and God wants to give
-
you freedom from those Giants and see their heads roll.
-
So it's victory season for at church.
-
When I say in this, you should feel something bubbling up in
-
your spirit that makes you want to go.
-
Yes. Yes, praise God.
-
So, if you're ready for a victory in your life today, say
-
I'm ready, okay? Faith comes by hearing and that
-
of God's word, so let's turn there.
-
Now, we're going to be in the book of 1st Samuel, in your
-
Bibles, Samuel Kings, Chronicles.
-
That's the order for a second for a second.
-
For a second Joshua, Judges Ruth, right.
-
After that, you're going to find First Samuel and we're in the
-
17th chapter, and we're going to plop right in the middle of The
-
story of David and Goliath. If you've never heard the story,
-
go back and read all of 16 and 17, I'm going to reference a lot
-
of it today. But let's begin here in verse
-
32, David says to Saul let no one lose heart on account of
-
this Philistine Goliath, your servants will go and fight them.
-
And Saul replied, you're not able to go out against this
-
Philistine and fight him. You're only a young man and he
-
has been a Warrior from his youth.
-
But David said to Saul your servant, has been keeping his
-
father's sheep. When a lion or bear came and
-
carried off, a sheep from the flock.
-
I went after it struck it and rescue the sheep from its mouth.
-
When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair.
-
Struck it and killed it. Notice like this, the same thing
-
that happens later, he knocks out the lion and the bear, and
-
he goes over there to get the sheep and then the line of bear,
-
like we're not dead yet. So he grabs her by the hair
-
strikes it again and kills it verse 36.
-
Your servant has killed both The Lion and the bear.
-
This uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them because
-
he has defied the armies of the Living.
-
God. The Lord, who rescued me from
-
the Paw of The Lion and the Paw of the bear will rescue me from
-
the hand of this Philistine. Saul said to David Go and the
-
Lord be with you. Then saw dress David and his own
-
tunic. He put on a coat of armor on him
-
and a bronze helmet on his head. David fastened on his sword over
-
the tunic and tried walking around, and then because he was
-
not used to them and he says, I cannot go in these because I'm
-
not used to them. So he took them off.
-
Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones
-
from the stream, put them in the pouch of a Shepherds bag.
-
And with the sling in his hand approached the Philistine and
-
you can read the rest of the story, but let me Just summarize
-
it this down, went Goliath. Glory to God.
-
You want to talk about impossible?
-
Here's a Shepherd boy with no training in the Army who does
-
with the trained. Army was unwilling to afraid
-
unable to do an entire trained Army.
-
Unable to do what an untrained Shepherd boy do.
-
That's impossible yet. God makes all things.
-
Hmm, it takes out a 9-foot giant.
-
I wish I had one come stand behind me so we could comprehend
-
how large a 9-foot person is Right.
-
Massive For 40 days. Every day Goliath would come out
-
and stand in front of the Israelite.
-
The entire Israelite Army and say, taunting them, send me
-
somebody to fight me. You dirty dogs since somebody to
-
fight me and we'll decide who rules over, who the winner rules
-
over the people of the loser, the winner won't rule over the
-
person because that person be dead.
-
So, one of us will die. And then the winner will rule
-
over the rest, 40 days in a row. And every time that Goliath
-
showed up the scripture records, That the Israelites shook.
-
Then they ran and then they hid and the spirit of fear and
-
despair hovered over the camp. Talk about a terrible way to
-
live. Right.
-
So just everybody lean in for a second here, just just come on.
-
Thank you. Thank you.
-
Let me, let me just ask you a question.
-
Look at my eyeballs. How long has it been taunting?
-
You. How long?
-
Every day. Twice a day, all day, every day.
-
Does your giant stand in front of you and taunt.
-
You saying the same things repeatedly.
-
You'll never get over this. You'll never break free from
-
this. This is what you're doomed to
-
you deserve this. You dirty dog.
-
So let's have a fight. You and me says the giant to you
-
and whoever wins will rule over the other.
-
What's your giant? I think it's important that we
-
go ahead and identify it. So we're not talking about
-
something ethereal or amorphous or theoretical, but we're
-
dealing with something that's been in your life for too long.
-
That's been taunting. You daily.
-
Is an addiction. Is it anxiety?
-
Perhaps you have a short fuse. Maybe you have a physical
-
malady, it's been taunting you. Depression.
-
Lust greed. The need to be noticed, Pride
-
ego materialism. A son or a daughter who is far
-
from the Lord. A spouse, a family member who's
-
far from the Lord and the giant taunts.
-
You saying they'll never be saved.
-
They're going to hell. Maybe something about your
-
physical appearance bothers you. maybe there's a lingering wound
-
from your childhood that stands in front of you like on the
-
regular and taunts you I've heard dozens upon dozens of
-
messages on David and Goliath maybe you have to, as I was
-
studying it over the past few weeks.
-
I feel like the Lord revealed to me, a few things that I'd never
-
seen before that. I want to share with you to help
-
you overcome your giant, the way, the David overcame his and
-
here's the good news hear me now.
-
Believe me later the same God, who rescued David from his giant
-
is the same God who is Lord of your life and what he did for
-
David, what he did for the Israelites he can do for you.
-
It's not impossible. What he did for David was
-
impossible, but he made it possible.
-
So, today is Victory. Season.
-
Giants will fall and Heads Will Roll.
-
Amen. Are you here to our say?
-
Yes. Come on.
-
So, where does courage come from?
-
It wasn't like David was just sitting there and like, ate some
-
spinach and then he was courageous or he had a mean
-
moment and became the Hulk and suddenly he's boom.
-
Like doing these things, he wasn't born courageous, he was
-
given courage. David was the youngest of eight
-
brothers that in alone. Takes some courage.
-
Can you imagine the dinner table?
-
Like, all right, here's the food, boots, David like He was
-
kind of we can surmise a few things from the scripture.
-
Like he's just like hey the rest of us are going to be at the
-
house hanging out together, David.
-
You're going to be working with the stupid smelly sheep.
-
But we're here at the house. In fact, you go read 1st Samuel
-
16, you'll learn that Samuel who the book is named after the
-
priest of the Israelites. At that time has been told by
-
God to go and find a replacement for Saul.
-
Saul was the first king of Israel.
-
We're really God, was the first king in the people are like we
-
want to be like other nations. Give us a human King and guys,
-
like I don't think that's a good idea but they pleaded with him
-
and so God said, okay here you go.
-
You get salt and he started well but he ended very poorly.
-
Turned his back on God really in pride and arrogance.
-
He turned away from God so God says Sam and we need to find a
-
new king. I'm sending you to the house of
-
Jesse. He has eight sons from his sons.
-
You will know which one you are to anoint as the new king So
-
Samuel arrives at Jesse's house and the oldest son, comes
-
forward and he is tall, he is handsome, and he is rugged and
-
Samuel thinks to himself. This must be the king is a head
-
taller than Everybody else. He's the wow.
-
And then we can just somewhat famous scripture.
-
God says, don't look at his appearance, man.
-
Looks at the outer, but God looks at the inner man, looks at
-
the appearance, God looks at the heart, he ain't the one.
-
Neither was number two, number three, and four five, six, all
-
the seven sons and we family gets to the end.
-
He's like, do you have any others and I like, well, Got
-
this younger brother out there. Let's just think about this for
-
a minute. There is an event happening at
-
home, where they're selecting the next king of Israel.
-
From the sons of Jesse and David doesn't get invited.
-
What does that do to David psyche?
-
Like, you're not even picked. Last, you weren't even in a pool
-
to be picked. Thanks.
-
So they bring David in and the Lord says the same with this
-
one, through all of this, David finds courage to defeat the
-
giant. But I'm trying to tell you, he
-
didn't start that way. And the reason I'm telling you
-
that is because you may feel like, however, old you, are you
-
still don't have courage to face your giant.
-
In fact, you may feel the opposite of it which is
-
discouraged. It is taunted.
-
You so often and so long that you feel like I'm just wave the
-
White Flag to this giant, it's not as part of my life and I'm
-
going to deal with it somehow. Just kind of cope.
-
With this giant. The guy can give you courage.
-
God can give you courage. So, where does this courage come
-
from? I'm going to tell you two things
-
and when you see the two things you'd be like, duh at first.
-
But instead of saying, do I want you to say whoa.
-
Okay, are you ready? Let's crack this one.
-
Two, three. Yeah, here's the two things that
-
give you courage. Number one, Holy Spirit, a
-
number to training. I'm going to spend a short time
-
on Spirit today because we're going to focus on Holy Spirit, a
-
lot next week and a much more time on training because I
-
believe that most Christians, Ins aren't properly trained to
-
face their Giants if they were. We see a lot more headless
-
bodies in the streets. Amen.
-
Which means you hear more testimonies of victory.
-
You hear more breakthroughs and people running and freedom
-
because we've been trained to deal with, there are giants the
-
way that David has. So let's talk about Spirit
-
first. And first, Samuel 16 we get to
-
the end of the picking of King's Story.
-
And here is Samuel anointing David.
-
It says in verse 13. So Samuel took the Horn of oil
-
and anointed David in the presence of his brothers.
-
And from that day on the spirit of the Lord Came powerfully Upon
-
David. Same with him, went to Rhema
-
very next verse verse 14. Now, the spirit of the Lord had
-
departed from Saul and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented
-
Saul. What?
-
It's going to shake some theology in the room and evil
-
spirit, from the Lord came and tormented Soul.
-
Also, the spirit of the spirit comes and falls on David in one
-
verse. And in the next verse of reading
-
that the spirit has departed from Saul, let's talk about the
-
Holy Spirit in the Old Testament, just for a moment.
-
The Holy Spirit wasn't dispersed to all people as he is now in
-
the church age and the age post Jesus Christ in the Old
-
Testament, the spirit would come in at certain places and at
-
certain times to do certain things to endure imbue.
-
What's the word, give? People Supernatural ability that
-
they wouldn't have on their own. We read in Genesis that the
-
spirit was there in creation, read in Psalm 104.
-
That the spirit is the very thing that gives breath to all
-
living things spirit and breath in the Old Testaments, the same
-
word rule, ah it's a fun word to say that's an actual word I
-
wasn't just clearing my throat. Right, the spirit Came Upon
-
judges and Warriors and profits in a way that gave him this
-
extraordinary power. You read about Joshua and
-
numbers. And in the Book of Judges, you
-
read about people like oath Miele and Deborah and Samson and
-
Gideon. One of my heroes are all heroes.
-
The spirit was crucial in helping, God's people anticipate
-
the ministry of Messiah. When Isaiah, the prophet said,
-
the spirit of the Lord is upon me.
-
Because he has anointed me to preach, good news to the poor.
-
And then he goes on to say other things but all of that happened
-
because the spirit showed up at a certain time in a certain
-
place for a certain reason through a person to do these
-
great works. David was filled with the Holy
-
Spirit and therefore he did, Holy Spirit aided fangs, And
-
Saul did not. Because the spirit of departed
-
from him, solid gone into the temple and done something.
-
The priests only do but Stalin is arrogance.
-
Tried to usurp God's Temple and went in and burn a fire.
-
He wasn't meant to burn and God turned on Saul Why?
-
Listen, I know that we want God to be warm and cuddly.
-
We want God if you're a good good father, right?
-
I run to the father like I saw this beautiful these.
-
I just love my daddy, right? but the Lord sent an evil spirit
-
to torment Saul, How do these to compute?
-
How do these two work together? Now, when you see the word evil,
-
don't think evil. Like Devil evil, like Halloween
-
Horror Nights evil, evil really? In the scripture means troubling
-
not immoral, not deceptive, not up to, no good.
-
But up to the purposes of God, Saul is the only person that
-
this happened to in the scripture because Saul was the
-
first king of Israel. He's setting a precedent to lead
-
the people to follow God and to bless all nations in this
-
alternative. Back on God and the wrath of
-
God, then comes upon Saul. And this tormenting Spirit comes
-
and trouble saw two. Disciplines all, remember God
-
disciplines those. He loves he loves Saul.
-
The spirit was meant in love. To lead them to repentance and
-
correction. Not only force all that for the
-
nation, but this troubling Spirit came because God is love.
-
Yes, he's warm and cuddly, but he's also Wrath.
-
Injustice, he's Grace, but he's also a warring God.
-
We don't want to warm and cuddly guy when he's facing the devil.
-
You want a nice soft, pretty. Angel to go play pattycake, with
-
the devil. You want one of these menacing
-
mean angels to go in DeLand to war.
-
But the enemy and this time, he's dealing with Saul because
-
of the wrath of God. Now, here's the good news for
-
us. We live on this side of the
-
blood of Jesus. In the person of Jesus Pastor
-
Kim led us through communion saying that his blood was shed
-
for us to pay for our sins. And because of it, we now can
-
have right relationship with God.
-
And the Holy Spirit has now been distributed to all of us and the
-
wrath of God has been appeased by Jesus for those who believe
-
in Jesus. So I don't want any here to
-
worry, like you're going to drive out there and you can say,
-
a bad word and the Lord's going to send you a tormenting spirit.
-
I give you evil spirit. If you believe in Jesus, the
-
holy spirit's been given to you and the evil spirits have
-
departed from you, the tormenting spirits but David has
-
been given the Holy Spirit and in the church age.
-
Now today the Holy Spirit has been distributed to all
-
believers. Every single person in here, has
-
the ability to fully operate in the Holy Spirit, everyone's been
-
given the Holy Spirit, you may not have received the holy
-
spirit yet, but you've been given it.
-
But when you receive the Holy Spirit, then we act very much
-
like David, which means what we we do in the natural is super
-
naturally aided. Hmm.
-
I put it like this when empowered by Holy Spirit.
-
The natural is touched by the Supernatural and that's when
-
Giants start to fall. There are some things that
-
you're going to learn to practice in the natural that
-
when you do that and they are divinely touched by God.
-
Supernaturally, the Giants will fall in front of you, the issue
-
in America. And even the American church is
-
that we try to behavior modify our self which is naturally
-
doing what we think is, right? I've got to withstand this, I
-
got a I got a bow up, I gotta I gotta all this stuff in my own
-
natural strength and if all you use is your natural, then your
-
giant is not going to be dead, it's just going to be in
-
hibernation. And then one day later when your
-
later, three years later, Giants back.
-
And now I feel worse than I did it first, because I thought this
-
thing was dead, and now it's back and I got guilt and shame.
-
But I got to tell everybody, hey, I made it so far, and then
-
I fell again, and now I'm terrible.
-
Listen, behind behavior modification is what we can do
-
in the natural. It I'm not saying it's bad.
-
In fact, it's very good. But, the best thing is to have
-
what's Natural Touch by that, which is Supernatural.
-
And when it's supernaturally, aided the head rolls, Are you
-
hearing me? Hallelujah.
-
So what does this training? What can we do in the natural
-
that God can touch in the Supernatural?
-
First of all know this, we need to fight like him and not like
-
them. We need to fight like him and
-
not like them. Saul says in verse 33, David
-
you're not able to go out against this Philistine and
-
fight them. You're only a young man and he's
-
being a Warrior from his youth, which means he's no longer a
-
youth, but he's been training since he was a youth.
-
Now, he's a Grizzly deed veteran of the Philistine Army, I can
-
imagine. He's got notches on his belt for
-
how many heads that he's whacked himself.
-
He just like this. Just incredible.
-
General Warrior for the Philistines and saws, like, you,
-
you ain't, you got Nothing compared to him.
-
David said, but, but, but, but, but saw your servants been,
-
keeping his father's sheep on a liner.
-
Bear coming care of his sheep from the flock.
-
I went after it. Struck at rescue, the chief
-
Burns mouth. When it turned on me, I see the
-
B here, bam and killed it. Saul says you're not trained in
-
the weapons of warfare and David responds.
-
I have training, you know not of Wouldn't you like to say this
-
like this, right? I have training you know, not a
-
when your giant stands in front of you with this arrogant breath
-
waving his weapons in your face, you get to look him.
-
Directly back in the eye and say, hey giant, I have training,
-
you know, not enough. I want you to know the giant has
-
a limited view of Your Arsenal. I want you to know that people
-
around you naysayers, have a limited view of your arson.
-
I want you to know that sometimes you look in the mirror
-
and forget your own Arsenal, but when equipped of God, you get to
-
say, wait a second, I have training you know, not of every
-
time I say it I feel like Yoda I have training, you know, not of.
-
Would you just say this with me? I have training, you know, not
-
of you. Remember the scripture for
-
though, we live in the world, we do not wage Wars.
-
The world does the weapons? We With are not the weapons on
-
the world. On the contrary, our weapons
-
have divine power to demolish strongholds Hedgerow.
-
Because I got training, you know, not of you remember this.
-
Anyone you seen the movie? Yep, daniel-san.
-
The end of the fight. He's bruised.
-
He's bad in his legs. I'll sweep the leg, right?
-
Everything's going wrong. And Daniel goes. and the crowds
-
like what is this doofus doing Johnny's like since a is like,
-
right and miyagi's like You remember miyagi's face?
-
Like, yes, Daniel. Sounds like I have training you
-
gonna do crane kicks. You the best?
-
Yeah. Okay, I have training, you know,
-
not of. Would you just say it one more
-
time? I have training, you know, not
-
of. Now this time.
-
Don't just repeat it. I want you to think of the
-
giant, that's in front of you and say it to him.
-
Hurt it. Whatever.
-
By the way, your Giants never a person.
-
We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, right?
-
It's an issue. It's a wound, it's a habit.
-
It's a demon, whatever you want to say it is, it's not a person.
-
So go ahead, one more time, say it to that thing.
-
Go ahead. You say, whenever you're ready
-
mmm-hmm keep saying it till you believe it, here's the not right
-
now throughout the week. So what was David's way of
-
fighting? How did he train and often?
-
This is where and I have sat through many messages on David
-
and Goliath. You hear this David's training
-
in order to defeat Goliath is that he defeated the lion and
-
the Bear. That was his training in order
-
to defeat Goliath, man, he beat The Lion and the bear.
-
He had the courage to face Goliath because he had the
-
courage to face the lion and the bear.
-
And as I was reading the Scripture, it just suddenly
-
occurred to me. Where do you get the courage to
-
fight the lion? The bear.
-
When's the last time you did that.
-
There's a lion. I think I'll go find him.
-
We know that David's first shot with a slingshot wasn't at the
-
Giant. And what I believe is that it
-
was not at the bare the line either.
-
Here's a case in point. Mushiya.
-
I need somebody who really confident?
-
Catching the football. Oh, that I won't hurt.
-
When I throw it. Are you sure young man?
-
All right. Come up here, buddy.
-
What's your name? I'm sorry Aaron.
-
Yes. Come on.
-
That's a good Biblical name, Aaron.
-
I want you to stand right there. In the that light over there.
-
Right next to Tish and pestle baldomir, right?
-
Right. Go this way Aaron.
-
Right. You'll see the light right
-
there? Yeah, perfect.
-
All right, I'm gonna throw the ball.
-
All to you and you gotta catch it.
-
Remember go Goliath is winning if we don't do this.
-
All right. So you ready?
-
Here you go. Okay that hey that's right, we
-
all just died. Let's try again.
-
Okay, I'm a third to you again. All right, here we go.
-
There you go. Hey.
-
How we could do this all day long, right?
-
Aaron. Just you and me right now, let's
-
pretend that life is really on the line.
-
Just pretend you stay there on, you're doing great.
-
And if I lose my family will become subservient.
-
To an enemy that none of us want to imagine.
-
Right. And so this whole time, I've
-
been using my trained armed. Let me now, use my untrained
-
arm. Are we ready for this?
-
I literally have not practiced this on purpose, so we can see
-
how this goes. The giant is menacing.
-
He's ugly. I'm running into the valley.
-
Everybody's watching. Everyone's fate.
-
Hangs on this one throw. Here we go.
-
I want to try that again because I was really bad.
-
Go ahead, nice throw. I'm gonna try with the left hand
-
again. Baldomir just saved his wife's
-
life right here. Hey give a big hand to Aaron.
-
Right there are one more pass. Come on.
-
Deep throaty. 34 we do. Oh, okay.
-
I mean, this is the air and you did a great job.
-
Right. Yeah.
-
So good. I think the point is obvious,
-
right? David's first shop with his
-
slingshot. This is just based on the
-
evidence based on the astute brains, that we have to figure
-
it out that David's first, shot wasn't at the lion In the bear.
-
David was tending sheep have ever heard the phrase watching
-
paint dry. Watching grass grow tending
-
sheep, has a lot of fun Parts when you're moving the sheep
-
from here to there, or there's a predator coming, like The Lion
-
and the bear. But most of the time tending
-
sheep is sitting there watching, sheep, chew grass.
-
Eenie Meenie. And then they lay down.
-
Wine in a green pasture. And David is there.
-
As a young boy, think of how young boys are.
-
And what's he doing? He does have a PS4.
-
Does it have a Kindle doesn't even coloring book?
-
It's just David and sheep. And a slingshot.
-
Would it be too far-fetched to believe that?
-
David spent a lot of his time. Hit that stick, hit that rock,
-
hit that bird. That butterfly me, I guess I'll
-
hit the fly, right? You follow expert.
-
I believe that somewhere along the way, David became an expert
-
slingshots. MIT And he took out the line in
-
the bear because he had practice.
-
Let me just lay this truth out for all of us.
-
How your training now is how you're going to fight then.
-
How your training in this season is how you're going to fight in
-
David. Use his slingshot so many times
-
he wasn't in trouble, so that when he was in trouble, it was
-
second nature. The slingshot was like part of
-
his arm, you watch the NHL All-Star game yesterday, I
-
didn't. But I may say 55 minutes of it,
-
but they say that the hockey stick has become an extension of
-
these All-Stars bodies. Just like one with them.
-
They can do crazy things, Tiger Woods in a golf club.
-
It's just one with Him. How many times did Michael
-
Jordan shoot a basketball in An Empty Arena when it didn't
-
matter? So that when it did matter,
-
second nature, David when a bear and a lion is coming, that's
-
when it matters and you don't just make it up in that season.
-
I believe that when we get in a difficult season suddenly we
-
want to call in a skill that we haven't developed in an easy
-
season. The giant starts charging at us
-
and we want to do something that we haven't ever done before in
-
expected to go. Super well.
-
What you've been training with now is what you'll try to use.
-
Then I think that we're training spending a lot of time in
-
training, on the wrong things that won't help us with our
-
Giants. I want you the next time your
-
giant pops up to say, I give you Netflix.
-
See if the giant Falls. I give you candy crush.
-
Now, it's getting personal, okay?
-
I give you a bottle of Rose. A, here's some Jack Daniels.
-
Here's some pornography. Here's some shopping.
-
Gossiping. Complaining.
-
Here's some social media, giant Pink, they just fall off of them
-
like marshmallows. We've been spending so much time
-
training in the wrong things so that when we get to a difficult
-
season, we try to pull in something.
-
We haven't trained. Hmm.
-
So what I, what I want you to train in, what does the Lord
-
want us to train? It has nothing to do with me.
-
Here it is. Get used to the Kings armor.
-
Saul told David to wear his armor, but David hadn't rained
-
in Saul's Army. He's like, I'm not used to
-
these. And then note he takes all of
-
the Kings armor off and leaves it.
-
One day and today could be that day, already your Giants.
-
Going to come at you. And the king is going to say,
-
hey here's my armor and the last thing you want to say to the
-
Lord our God is, I'm not used to it.
-
And leave God's armor behind. In the day of battle, you need
-
it. Most Ephesians chapter 6.
Ephesians 6 chapter mention
-
You got a Bible That's all turn their together.
-
That's where courage comes from. Getting used to.
-
The armor of God in an easy season, so that when the
-
difficult season comes your trained up and ready to go.
-
Verse 10 finally, be strong in the Lord.
-
And in his mighty power, put on just one piece of the armor of
-
God. The full armor.
-
I don't have it up there so you just got to turn in your own
-
Bibles. Put put on the full armor of
-
God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's
-
schemes. For our struggle is not against
-
flesh and blood, but against the rulers against the authorities,
-
against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual
-
forces of evil in the Heavenly Realms, therefore put on the
-
full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, it does
-
not say if the day of evil comes, when the day of evil
-
comes, gotta find my spot. You may be able to stand your
-
ground and after you have done everything to stand.
-
And then he tells us the armor. He says stand firm with the belt
-
of Truth. Buckled around your waist, this
-
is the word of God. We need to be training daily.
-
This is uh shooting free throws in an empty gym daily.
-
I'm reading it there may not, I mean I didn't some days, it may
-
just be mechanical or I just got to get in it and just, just eat
-
it. Have it in my spirit, reading
-
the word of God. This belt of Truth upon me.
-
And by the way, all this rest of the armor rests on The belt, we
-
can talk about that. Another time, the breastplate of
-
righteousness, the breastplate of righteousness, says to the
-
enemy, my past. No longer defines me.
-
You filthy giant, my mistakes, my resume of immoral failures.
-
Does not define me. The breastplate of
-
righteousness, says that I am the righteousness of God.
-
Through the blood of Jesus Christ.
-
My faith in him has made me clean.
-
The old has gone. The new is here.
-
This proves it. The feet fitted with the
-
Readiness of the Gospel means that everywhere that you are the
-
god. Feel the peace means that
-
everywhere that you walk. You walk in peace with
-
confidence. Peace means everything in its
-
rightful place. What?
-
I'm putting on the armor of God, I'm taking every step correctly
-
because I'm trusting the will the perfect good and pleasing
-
will of God, I walk confidently. I'm not going to be afraid.
-
Bad news comes. I'm walking in the gospel of
-
peace. It's okay.
-
We're going to make it through. Here's the way we're going to
-
walk. Walk walk.
-
Then you get the shield of Faith.
-
Fiery arrows are a raid at you, and the shield of faith, we lift
-
it up and say greater, is he, that is in me than he is in the
-
world. We say those that are for me,
-
are more than those that are against me.
-
We say no weapon formed against me, shall prosper.
-
We lift up the shield of faith. We say I'm going to submit to
-
God and resist the devil and he will flee.
-
And these arrows go out one by one ting, ting ting.
-
The helmet of salvation. I love the helmet of salvation,
-
Roman helmets had giant plumes on them so that the whole world
-
would know you were a Roman soldier when you wear the helmet
-
of salvation. The whole world knows that
-
you're a Christ follower, the helmet of salvation keeps out
-
the thoughts and the enemy and keeps in the thoughts of God.
-
And then the sword of the spirit.
-
The sword. It's two edges and there's much
-
talk about what these two edges mean.
-
Today, let the mean for us, praise and prayer The next verse
-
says, to pray in the spirit. Praise and prayer.
-
The stones you put in your slingshot.
-
Have you trained Up In Praise and prayer?
-
Let me read the scripture to you.
-
Psalm 149 6 God's high and holy Praises fill their mouths.
-
Further shouted, Praises are their weapons of war.
-
In the easy season. Let's become Prayer.
-
Warriors and praise Warriors. So that when the difficult
-
season comes, we're not just trying to warm up our voices.
-
I've been singing since I was a kid.
-
I have training, you know, not of, I've been praying in my
-
closet on my knees for years. You have no idea of my training.
-
I have scripture hidden in my heart.
-
I have training. You know, none of you filthy
-
mouth devil This is what we get to say this past week.
-
It was like the most incongruous illogical week for me, because I
-
am fasting and praying, and in God's word and feeling strength,
-
feeling, Spirit, feeling, flesh, dying and then I had one of the
-
worst weeks. Like we that doesn't compute
-
God, like it should be awesome. And yet these difficult things
-
are happening one after the other.
-
There was even one situation or having to apologize to my wife
-
and my children for my behavior. My fuse was short.
-
I was emotionally drunk. Anyone ever been emotionally
-
drunk? Just like, not a good place to
-
be and I said to my wife later that night like I don't
-
understand what's happening. Like I don't get it.
-
The opposite should be happening.
-
I should be the best version of me right now and I just was like
-
the worst version of me. How does that happen?
-
Does it make any sense and went to bed?
-
And I woke up and the first thought on my mind.
-
Was this a prompting? A voice?
-
Not audible that I knew it was the Lord speaking.
-
He said, hey Tim you're letting the devil win.
-
The year that I can't, you're letting the devil win this.
-
What this whole thing is about. Strengthening the spirit during
-
the fast to overwhelm the Flesh and the the devil, just poked
-
your flesh, and you let the devil win.
-
It's like mad, I fell for the trick.
-
Right in the middle of the fast, but the good news is I have
-
training. The devil does not know of, it
-
will turn that on its head in an instant through prayer and
-
praise and suiting up daily and sometimes multiple times a day
-
in the armor of God, and there's a transformation that will
-
happen in your spine and your spirit, when you realize that,
-
if God is for us, who can be against us, and I'm not gonna
-
Let the devil win anymore. Not today.
-
Tomorrow, I have to choose that again and the next day and so I
-
speak to you, these words. May the spirit of God.
-
Touch you supernaturally to Aid, you in what you do, naturally,
-
the reading of scripture, the praying, the prayers, the
-
singing of songs, the suiting up in the armor, that's our
-
training. So the moment, the giant stands
-
in front of you, it'll be second nature to respond to him, devil.
-
I got training, you know, not enough.
-
I've got courage like David. I've got courage like Jesus.
-
I've got courage like Paul. That's who you are.
-
That's what he's made us to be in the name of the father Son
-
and the Holy Spirit. Would you just pray?
-
Just make this personal for a second.
-
Just ask Holy Spirit. What is it that you want me to
-
know today? What is it that you want me to
-
take away? What's one truth?
-
One nugget, one. Something that you've laid on my
-
spirit. Lord, we just release Holy
-
Spirit in this house. Touch every person receive the
-
Holy Spirit. You and your seat receive, Holy
-
Spirit. But in Philly to fullness, and
-
you in your seats, make commitment to train up as a
-
warrior, Father, we thank you for victory.
-
We thank you. That the victory is assured.
-
That you fight our battles as we align ourselves with you?
-
God, I pray that what you did for David and the Israelites you
-
do again in our day. That Goliath false, the victory
-
shot goes up up and we rule over that which was seeking to rule
-
over us. Glory to God in the eyes.
-
Thank you for your faithfulness in Jesus name.
