Welcome to the Illuminate Church podcast.
-
We hope today's message is encouraging to you.
-
I'm so glad to be here and so excited about the message today.
-
And here at the Illuminate Church, we are learning about
-
the seven habits of Jesus people, and it has been amazing.
-
Last week we learned from Pastor Kim Beth about to serve and we
-
are having wonderful experience and the great opportunity to
-
change our lives, change habits and to become more like Jesus.
-
And here at Luminate Church, we focus on help people to find
-
abundant life in Jesus Christ and how we do this.
-
We help people to meet God, to discover who we are in Christ,
-
not what the word is saying, but what Christ is saying about you
-
to become more like Jesus and lead others to do the same.
-
And here at the church, we, we had a team of abundant life
-
people who people who are peculiar and they decide to
-
become more like Jesus in Ukraine.
-
And partnering with Mission 823. This group went to Ukraine.
-
I had the honor to go with them to Ukraine.
-
And it was an amazing trip, 40 hours traveling.
-
I thought I was in another planet.
-
Well, did you arrive in Saturn? You know, but so and the moon,
-
40 hours, like three times the planet.
-
Can you imagine this? So here's the team who travel to
-
Ukraine. Abundant life people and in
-
Ukraine we had the opportunity to visit a church there, the
-
city we were serving and we went to the church and I had the
-
honor to preach in that service church in that service with
-
different clothes. Can you see this so and I preach
-
in English, my English just saying I don't know why you were
-
laughing. OK, but and the guy, he was
-
translating everything to Ukrainian, I believe.
-
So I was saying my words and he was wow, you know.
-
So it was an amazing opportunity to worship our Lord and to be
-
with this church. Also at the end of the service,
-
we had Davonte and Rick Melero worshipping in that church.
-
Church was so special. They were explaining what they
-
were worshipping and the same guy was translating, I believe
-
to Ukrainian and was so special to be there.
-
We had the opportunity also to to have meals, which is so
-
wonderful. We have meals together, the
-
local team in Ukraine, and they were so lovely, so special,
-
Everybody hugging, you know, they never knew, they never saw
-
you before and they were hugging you, you know, wow.
-
They are so like receptive, so open.
-
And they were all the time creating different meals, which
-
I love, you know, and they were like cooking these and explain,
-
you know, when you are in Ukraine, a different country,
-
they need to explain you think that is some meat, but sometimes
-
not so. But they were explaining what is
-
this? And so wonderful people and they
-
all the time we were eating. You see, we are eating a lot and
-
what amazing. You should go to a mission trip.
-
So we were there and everybody so lovely, so helping us in
-
everything. I was so.
-
And every meal they were asking me to pray for the meal.
-
They said, you're a pastor, it's your job.
-
Pray for the meal. Yeah, I was in Ukraine, you know
-
about the war. I will obey everything they will
-
say. So I was praying for the meal.
-
But they were giving us so good time, so wonderful, welcoming.
-
And I pray for, for the meal. And everybody was preparing,
-
doing that their place, they, you know, like the plates or the
-
plates just here, but the mountain was over there.
-
But so everybody was with that kind of place.
-
And I was so grateful, so full of gratitude, the way they were
-
teaching, the way they were sharing everything and open
-
everything for us. Then I, I came to my mind, I
-
will say thank you, but I don't know why came to my mind.
-
I will say thank you in Portuguese, you know, thank you
-
in Portuguese is obrigado. Easy word.
-
Then everybody was with that plate, you know, and I said,
-
hey, hey, hey, hey Obrigado. And they then I said, there is a
-
way to go back home today, you know, like, so I all these faces
-
and they were with that food and they were looking at me like,
-
oh, and I thought I will not ask what obrigado means, but one guy
-
came to say, hey, do you know what obrigado means in Ukrainian
-
if I am afraid to discover the meaning of this word, But the
-
guy said, Are you ready to listen up?
-
Not good word. Then the guy said and everybody
-
with that muse and I'm eating and I said obrigado.
-
And the guy said to me obrigado means vomit.
-
No more words in Portuguese. In Ukraine we are done with
-
Portuguese. You know, let's try English.
-
You know, I should say thank you, but I said obrigado.
-
So if you go to Ukraine, don't say that word.
-
Look. So we were there and like having
-
a wonderful time with them. And we went to Ukraine to serve
-
in a summer camp. We were in a, in a in Ukraine,
-
but in our, in our, in our zone, so far from war, so far from war
-
in a quiet place never happened anything there.
-
But it was Ukraine, you know, and one church in Kiev, a big
-
wonderful church, they and and they, they told us they, they,
-
they are receiving, they are under bombed every evening in
-
Kiev. But the church understood they
-
should be there and serve the people and keeping loving the
-
people and the church start changing the feelings at the
-
church. So some offices became bedroom
-
to receive people. So the church decide we God is
-
calling us to become a Church of war.
-
So this war. So they are not living even with
-
bombs. They are there with the people
-
who lives there. And at the summer we have this
-
mission 823 and they have a big wonderful, beautiful facility
-
and they are come this church are coming and different also
-
different church. They are coming to this
-
facility, this quiet area with orphans and widows.
-
And they are came coming with them just to give a week of
-
rest, therapy, to play with the kids.
-
And we went there just to love them, just to overflow joy and
-
serve them. And you can see here in this
-
picture, like a mom with the black T-shirt, No, and her son.
-
And I believe if you pay attention their faces, you will
-
understand what's happening. They just lost husband, dad.
-
And they were there facing this at their side, you can see a a
-
boy. He's around 14 years old and his
-
sister around 16 years old and they lost everything.
-
Mom, dad, grandparents, house, friends and they have a small
-
brother, 5 or 6 years old and they came to this camp and we
-
were just loving them. We had some activities with the
-
kids and we were like building a ship together and you can see
-
her face. So we were there sharing, We
-
were there loving. And I need to tell you, I went
-
to a lot of mission trips and I love to go and share Jesus, you
-
know, and like knock a door and hey, how are you?
-
I came from Brazil to here to let you know that Jesus loved
-
you, you know, and, and like, it's amazing to go to a
-
different place and try to speak their language.
-
Not Ukrainian obrigado, OK. But like, it's so good when you
-
go to Guatemala, Nicaragua, Republican, Dominican, you know,
-
speaking in Spanish. I don't speak, but I feel that I
-
speak. So I try and it's amazing.
-
But in Ukraine it was different. I have never been in a country
-
under a war. And at the city we were far from
-
the war. But at the city, every place we
-
were walking or driving, we saw a lot of pictures of the
-
soldiers who was killed. So it was different.
-
This was a different atmosphere and I was like just we were
-
there just available to overflow love and overflow joy.
-
We were preparing the house for the kids and widows to come
-
cleaning the house, preparing everything.
-
We were loving the team who will serve there.
-
You know, we had a picture here from King Landry and she bought
-
things for the cooks and it's so important.
-
It's not in the Bible, but it's so important when you go to a
-
mission trip to be a friend of the kooks.
-
It is important. You need to know.
-
It's something I believe when we get in heaven, God will say, you
-
know, the kooks because they can bring you food.
-
It's so important, you know, so. And Kim Henry was there and she
-
gave some gifts to people who gave money for her to buy
-
things. So we were loving them.
-
We were playing with the kids. We were serving them.
-
We were like washing and cleaning the boats and preparing
-
the bedrooms, walking with the kids and moms.
-
We were listening them even without understanding.
-
We didn't have a lot of translator.
-
We have not for everybody. So we were listening and they
-
were just saying, you know, I'm not understanding.
-
But you know, they were just saying about the pain.
-
And we were like also rowing boats.
-
Devante was professional on this.
-
The kids were going to his boat and you know, the boat was not
-
obeying so much Devante, but you need to see the joy of the kids
-
getting in the boat. And we were there and I need to
-
repeat to you, we were there just overflowing, just
-
overflowing. So the words in English, they
-
didn't understand, but they understood our faces, our
-
hearts. So the calling was overflow.
-
And I want to share you something.
-
They they they like to play discof.
-
You know, what is this golf? So I'm Brazilian, so I never
-
played golf. So when I saw and I learned
-
about disc golf, I thought you put the golf at the floor and
-
come with, you know, the disc at the floor.
-
And it's not this way. If you don't know, I will
-
explain to you. So they were just doing this
-
with the discs, you know, and I don't know if you like
-
understood that when when you do this with the disc, the disc
-
does not come back alone. We need to go there and take it,
-
you know, And the kids were doing this, you know, and King
-
Langley from Illuminate Church, she was there going and taking
-
each disk and coming back and giving their kids hand with joy
-
hundreds of time doing this. I was praying for her back, you
-
know, so hundreds of time going and the kids were, you know, and
-
what she was coming and give the disk and they were receiving the
-
disk and she was going there, you see, but hundreds of time,
-
hours doing this and give the disk back to that kid.
-
You need to see the faces of the kids, the kids face receiving
-
the disk, maybe in the most difficult season in their lives.
-
Someone, King Landry from United States came here to take the
-
disc 100 times and give in my hand.
-
God's take care of me. Yes, yes, yes, yes.
-
So she was doing this. And I need to tell you, it was
-
so simple. So simple.
-
Almost nothing but everything. Everything.
-
Can you imagine the boy? Six years?
-
They did sometimes the boys and they did, you know.
-
But Can you imagine these little little boys doing this and
-
someone taken giving your hand? She was not doing this, she was
-
going and giving their hands with joy.
-
All the thiefs. It was so simple, almost nothing
-
but everything for that kid. How could God send someone for
-
so far from here to take the disc for me?
-
And their faces were changing. The kids, they arrived there so,
-
so angry, you know, so sad. When the group arrived, one mom
-
and her little daughter, they arrived and the little daughter,
-
maybe she was 5 or 6 years, she came running to me and I said
-
wow, she's choosing me. Can you imagine that?
-
You know, she ran to me and then she took my finger with both
-
hands trying to break my finger. And I no, I don't, but then but
-
you know, she was with both hands trying to break my finger.
-
Someone different kill her dead and I was different, so we were
-
there just to overflow. I could not use English words.
-
She didn't speak English, you know.
-
But you need to see we start playing with them, sharing joy,
-
love, you know, trying to keep my fingers far from her.
-
But the day after, you need to see everybody in the team.
-
The day after the kids were coming and kissing and hugging
-
this girl. She was taking my my leg and I
-
was walking with her, you know, and she just overflowing joy In
-
Ukraine, the boys, they like to play soccer.
-
And when they realized I was Brazilian, they said Brazilian
-
Ronaldo. Then I said I am Ronaldo.
-
You know, you were Ronaldo, Ronaldo.
-
Then we I was trying to play soccer with them.
-
You know, me and the haunted. So we play.
-
I was like, they are 6710 years old, Ronnie, where are you
-
going? Come back, you know, but just
-
playing with them and we were, we just had one too there.
-
Overflow joy and overflow love. And today we'll talk about the
-
sickest habit of Jesus people. And the sickest habit is Jesus
-
people overflow Jesus, Jesus people overflow Jesus.
-
Mark chapter 16, verse 15. If you need a Bible, just raise
-
your hand. The ushers will help you with
-
the Bible, but mark chapter 16 verse 15 Jesus was talking with
-
his disciples and Jesus said to his disciple and the verse 15 go
-
into all the word and preach the gospel to all creation.
-
Go into all the Word and preach the gospel to all creation and
-
preach the gospel to our creation means overflow,
-
overflow, overflow coming from you.
-
Overflow is what we know as evangelism.
-
You go to some place, you go in your area, you go in your job,
-
and you overflow. So I have something so good,
-
Jesus, I am excited to share something that's happened with
-
me that Jesus is doing God's doing in my life.
-
So I overflow the good news. How you overflow?
-
How you overflow? Are you understanding me?
-
So I overflow. So Can you imagine someone
-
sharing the good news? I have good news to tell for you
-
today. I have good news.
-
You know, this is not overflow, joy.
-
So we have good news. We have good news.
-
So Jesus, people overflow, Jesus overflow joy.
-
And I need to tell you also, everybody overflows something.
-
Everybody overflows something, but peculiar people, Jesus
-
people overflow joy. So I'm here today to let you
-
know and remind us that God is leading us to be peculiar and we
-
are Jesus people. And Jesus people have joy
-
available to overflow. Joy available to overflow.
-
I will ask you to do something to say the word joy.
-
Are you ready to say the word joy for four different people
-
around you? You can go just 4, not 35, just
-
4. Good, good, good, good, good.
-
Thank you. You see what's happened.
-
You just said the word joy. You see, so God wants to use our
-
life and I need to tell you you're smile.
-
You will enter that person's soul, your smile when when
-
you're talking with someone, your face, your smile will enter
-
their soul. They will receive what you are
-
overflowing. You are communicating with what
-
is overflowing from you. So you, me and you have the
-
opportunity to bless people around and just to receive the
-
presence of the Lord with your face.
-
So I know we have difficult seasons.
-
We have challenge. I know.
-
Can you imagine in Ukraine they were walking to the city and
-
seeing everywhere? We have that pictures with the
-
soldiers who were killed and Can you imagine the family going to
-
to buy food and see the picture of the dead?
-
So it's hard and we have difficult seasons in our life.
-
But I need to share with you that in difficult seasons, the
-
joy of the Lord means strength. Nehemiah chapter 8, verse 10.
-
Nehemiah in chapter 86 to 9/11. These chapters tell us the story
-
that it was not easy. It was not an easy season.
-
They were fighting. They had they had enemies
-
against them trying to kill them.
-
They had a lot of work to do. So a lot of things happening.
-
They were under some a lot of pressure and in Nehemiah chapter
-
8 verse 10 we see Nehemiah said go and enjoy choice food and
-
sweet drinks and send some to those who have nothing prepared.
-
This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of
-
the Lord is your strength. So we can see clear here.
-
They were in a season of grief, but the joy was available for
-
them and the joy of the Lord is our strength even in a disco
-
season. First Thessalonians chapter 5
-
verse 16 to 18 said says he joys always you see always always
-
means always in English. So rejoice always, always pray
-
continually give thanks in all circumstances for this is God's
-
will for you in Christ Jesus. This is God's will for you in
-
Christ Jesus. So you have the option to have
-
joy even in a difficult season. So Jesus people overflow joy.
-
Can you say joy again? Amen.
-
So do you know that joy is contagious?
-
Have you ever been in a place that someone start laughing you,
-
you'd have no idea what happened and you start you, you don't
-
have the information. Sometimes it's happened with
-
him, with me and my family, and they arrived and they don't know
-
what's happened. And everybody no idea.
-
So joy I'm you. It's contagious.
-
But I was trying to do some research and I, I found at the
-
Warwicky University in UK, they calculate the degree of
-
contagioness. You see contagioness, they
-
calculate the degree of contagion using similar methods
-
to those used to track the spread of infectious disease.
-
Have you ever heard about infectious disease when the
-
planets stop? OK, they calculate with the same
-
method. And they found, look at this,
-
they found that teenagers who had five friends, at least 5
-
friends with joy, they have 50% less probability for depression.
-
Amen. Amen. 5 friends with joy.
-
Yeah, make some noise. Five friends, some altars.
-
Also, they calculate that when someone have joy, look at this,
-
when someone have joy, the neighbor, you know the neighbor
-
that you love, the one who is always OK.
-
So the neighbor is 34% more likely to have joy just because
-
of your joy. So when you overflow joy,
-
overflow joy, your neighbor becomes 34% a friend, a friend
-
who lives .6 miles from you is 25% to have joy just because of
-
you, any sibling even living in another planet far from you, 14%
-
to receive and to have joy just because of your life.
-
We call this evangelism. You know, God using your life to
-
go all the world. So how can we impact our
-
neighbors, our region just overflowing what God is giving
-
to us so peculiar people, Jesus people overflow joy.
-
Can you say that joy again, Amen, Amen.
-
And I have more for you, The British Medical Journal in 2008,
-
they published what they found that joy.
-
Look at this, they found that joy extends up to 3° of
-
separation, 3° of separation. What it means when someone
-
received the joy of the Lord, Are you receiving the joy of the
-
Lord? When you just decide I want the
-
joy of the Lord, I will overflow that.
-
When someone overflow, your friend received this and this
-
friend will share this with another one.
-
We are not talking about COVID, we'll talk about joy.
-
So when you overflow, we can change the world.
-
Amen. You can change your family, even
-
a difficult season. The joy of the Lord is our
-
strength. So when I decide to receive and
-
to overflow joy, one friend of mine, he will receive and this
-
guy will overflow for another one.
-
The same joy will touch these two and this one will overflow
-
for three degrees. So what God is giving to us will
-
change people that you know don't have the idea who they are
-
just because you decide to overflow joy, it's available for
-
me and for you. So your joy is contagious and
-
will create an impact impacting friends of your friends.
-
Amen. So peculiar people evangelize
-
peculiar people overflow and I'm sure what will work in your life
-
and around you. Maybe this week someone what's
-
happened with you? Well, what's happened with you
-
and you can answer them. I decide for the joy of the Lord
-
everything. If they they ask you, wow, I I
-
what is this? If I go to church, they will
-
explain to you, you know, if you are afraid to explain, just do
-
that, you know, but you can share Jesus is in my life.
-
This is so good that I'm overthrow.
-
I have joy. Amen.
-
So the joy God can use this week for people seeing your faces
-
what's happening and you know how to receive and keep joy.
-
John 15 verse 10 says if you keep my commands, you will
-
remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you
-
will remain my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands
-
and remain in His love. I have told you, look at this, I
-
have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your
-
joy may be complete. When I keep God's commands, my
-
joy is complete. What means keep Lord commands?
-
It's not just memorizing them, but walking with them.
-
My life is based on Lord's command when I obey.
-
When I obey, my life is under the commands of the Lord.
-
When I when I decide to obey, the joy is complete in my life.
-
Joy is complete in my life. Are you understanding this?
-
So how much time? How many time?
-
How much time? Many or much you don't know?
-
OK, a lot of times we were looking for some experience to
-
have joy. But what the Bible is saying,
-
when you obey the Lord, your joy is complete.
-
So when you read your Bible, when you understand the
-
commandments and you walk within this, the joy of the Lord is
-
complete in your life. So if you are waiting for
-
another thing, I want to help me and you just walk, obey the
-
Lord, the joy will be complete. Amen.
-
How to receive this also we receive from the Holy Spirit
-
Galatians chapter 5 verse 22. But the Holy Spirit produces
-
this kind of fruit in your in our lives.
-
Lovejoy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
-
faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
-
There is no law against this. So relationship with the Holy
-
Spirit lead our lives to joy, relationship with the Holy
-
Spirit, not just one experience, but relationship with the Holy
-
Spirit. Let me help you to understand it
-
better. Luke chapter 3 verse 16.
-
John said to the people who he who he was baptizing and he
-
said, I baptize you with water, but one who is more powerful
-
than I will come. They straps up the whole
-
sandals. I am not worthy to untie He.
-
Look at this. He will baptize you with the
-
Holy Spirit and fire. He will baptize you with the
-
Holy Spirit and fire. Baptize means immerse, immerse
-
under. All around me is the Holy
-
Spirit. So my life is based in the Holy
-
Spirit. I walk with the Holy Spirit.
-
He is around me, my decisions, my thoughts, everything in my
-
life under and immerse in the Holy Spirit.
-
And he said Jesus will come and he will baptize you with the
-
Holy Spirit. We need the Holy Spirit.
-
How you understand that? And he said the Holy Spirit and
-
fire, they overflow. So we need to have our lives
-
with the Holy Spirit. If you need the Holy Spirit,
-
we'll be here at the end of the service.
-
We can come and we see, ask for that.
-
We will help you to pray for you.
-
So the Bible says when I baptize you, immerse in the Holy Spirit,
-
my life, walking with the Holy Spirit, are you with me?
-
You should be with the Holy Spirit.
-
So with the Holy Spirit and the fire will come.
-
So you overflow, overflow, peculiar people overflow also
-
with intentionality, with intentionality.
-
Philippians chapter 4 verse four and five says this way.
Philippians 4 chapter mention
-
Rejoice in the Lord always. Always we know that I will say
-
it again again rejoice are you understand rejoices for you all
-
the time. OK, so rejoice in the Lord
-
always I will say it again. Rejoice.
-
Look at this. Let your gentleness be evident
-
to all, be evident to all the Lord is near be evident to all.
-
So peculiar people overflow with intentionality.
-
You will go to a restaurant today to have your lunch.
-
Amen. Just for Amen.
-
Nobody's eating today. OK, So Can you imagine you
-
holding the door for 55 people you know, I don't know if you
-
are this one that open the door when the other one is you.
-
I don't, you know, So peculiar people, peculiar people overflow
-
gentleness. Let be evident.
-
I'm holding for you. Welcome to McDonald's.
-
I'll pray for you. You know, wherever you are.
-
So Jesus, people overflow with intentionality.
-
Is it for you? Please say yes.
-
OK, It is for you overflow with intention.
-
And look at this Isaiah chapter 12, verse 4.
-
In that day you say, give praise to the Lord, proclaim His name,
-
make known, make known among the nations what He has done, make
-
known among the nations what He has done, and proclaim that His
-
name is exalted. Make known among the nations.
-
So you can just overflow, saying what God is doing in your life,
-
what God is using in your life, where He's touching your heart,
-
your family, what He's doing, make known among the nation what
-
He has done. Isn't it amazing?
-
So we are receiving this calling to overflow.
-
Peculiar people overflow, peculiar people overflow what
-
God has done. And you can do this with your
-
neighbor. You can do this with the people
-
who work with you. You know, some neighbor.
-
We have neighbors that never cut the grass.
-
You can cut, you can cut. Can you imagine you just can I
-
cut? Can I do your landscape?
-
Why? God loves you and he loves me so
-
much. You bless my life doing this
-
crazy thing for you, but God loves you.
-
Just overflow. It's not so hard.
-
We can overflow and joy is available for you all the time.
-
You can have experience like like this.
-
And also I need to tell you we will have Shine week here at the
-
church, not here in our region. We have some special
-
opportunities to go to places like we will go to assisted live
-
facility and we will be there lifting.
-
We'll be there showing our smiles.
-
We will serve food at schools to the staff.
-
Do you know teachers? Do you know what they face
-
during the year? It's a lot.
-
But when you were there, we are serving food.
-
You know, I used to be at the rice and like to give rice like
-
a mountain of rice and it's oh, it's too much.
-
You deserve to be like, Oh no, you deserve this rice, you know,
-
just overflowing. We need to see how they change.
-
One year, one year we were I believe it's Iceland, Iceland
-
village, and I'm not sure it's what this is cool.
-
But we were there at the aisle just clapping when they were
-
arriving. And you need to see some of them
-
start crying. We were just, but God was using
-
this. You were loved.
-
So I want to invite you to decide to overflow.
-
You can choose. You can see where we have a lot
-
of opportunities. You can see and open your heart
-
for God to use your life. One of these is just overflow to
-
your neighbor and you share love to your neighbor.
-
Peculiar people, peculiar people.
-
Overflow Jesus. Thanks for joining us today.
-
We hope God is speaking to your heart through this message.
