  1. Welcome to the Illuminate Church podcast.

  2. We hope today's message is encouraging to you.

  3. Today is Week 2 of Weeds in My Garden and the the idea of this

  4. series that we keep trying to tell everyone we're totally fine

  5. when that's simply plainly not completely true.

  6. Certainly there's seasons where we're greater than we are at

  7. other times and we're walking and healing and health and other

  8. times we are suffering. And I want you to know based on

  9. last week, which we said it's OK to admit you're not OK, that the

  10. admission that you're hurting is the beginning of healing.

  11. And so we were creating the safe hospital here so that the doctor

  12. can come in. And remember we said last week,

  13. it's the sick that need a doctor.

  14. So this is a safe hospital so that the sick can come in and

  15. say, doctor, I need healing. And the healer has come.

  16. His name is Jesus, praise the Lord, and I want you to believe

  17. that you can be healed. I am living proof, having lived

  18. for years with a mental health issue, and God's healing has

  19. come upon me and not just me. Wait till you hear next week's

  20. message. Somebody else is going to be

  21. here sharing their testimony. And it is profound, the healing.

  22. I hope that you'll be here. Would you agree with me that it

  23. seems like every generation faces tougher battles than the

  24. one before due to rise in immorality, the pronouncement of

  25. harder problems that get harder to manage?

  26. The help seems to be more and more scarce, more and more

  27. confusing. It seems to be harder for each

  28. generation that follows the next generation.

  29. Would you also agree with me that worldwide church attendance

  30. is in decline? Yes or no?

  31. Are we talking or we're not talking?

  32. Good, We're talking. Would you agree that the outcome

  33. of less church attendance is also lessening people's ability

  34. to face what the world has to offer?

  35. OK. Could it be that mental health

  36. disorders, at least partially, are on the rise because church

  37. attendance is in decline? Is the correlation there?

  38. And you've already said yes. Really.

  39. What I'm saying by church attendance is engagement with

  40. the divine, not just attending church, but participating with

  41. the Lord Most High. And if people aren't

  42. participating with the Lord Most High, not entering His house for

  43. healing, then where are they going for help?

  44. And is it actually help? Or is most help secular help,

  45. worldly help, help that just soothes the symptoms but does

  46. not heal the root? And now hear me, there are

  47. seasons of our life where we need to sue the symptoms so that

  48. we can heal the root. I'm not casting out the fact

  49. that we need to sue some symptoms.

  50. For some people, it's medicine for some people, it's

  51. counseling. For some, whatever it is to get

  52. me off of redlining so I can get to the place where I can process

  53. what the Lord has to offer. So I believe that's why we're

  54. doing this series, because it's the local church that breathes

  55. the word of God, that believes in the power of the Holy Spirit,

  56. that offers avenues of healing. It's the local church that is

  57. the hope of the world as it pertains to mental health.

  58. There is truly no other answer. That's why we're doing this

  59. series. I'm glad that you're here.

  60. I hope that you're glad you're here.

  61. Five of you. In Idaho, there's a pastor named

  62. Jim Putman. And in his community, small

  63. community in Idaho, there was an outbreak of suicide.

  64. We're going to be addressing suicide in week 6 of this

  65. series. But a lot of today's message

  66. centers on this. For this reason, Jim Putnam in a

  67. city, the one of the most prominent political figures, the

  68. head of the school board committed suicide.

  69. And in a small town, that's big news.

  70. Right after that, the captain of the football team also committed

  71. suicide. It's rippling through the town

  72. and his gym. The pastor Jim looked around.

  73. He realized especially in youth in their town, suicide was

  74. becoming this mini epidemic in their town.

  75. And as a pastor of a town, it broke his heart as it would

  76. anybody doesn't have to be a pastor is breaking everybody's

  77. heart. And he knew that he must do

  78. something. So he wrote a series and he

  79. entitled it with the inspiration, the Holy Spirit,

  80. irreplaceable. And what he found doing his

  81. research is that there's three primary lies that Satan gives to

  82. people in all mental health and specifically with suicide.

  83. He got this information where he gleaned it was from people who

  84. had attempted suicide but had not been successful.

  85. Their testimony, what they said, what led them to that.

  86. And he researched suicide notes. And as he read these notes and

  87. he did these interviews with these people who had

  88. unsuccessfully attempted suicide, he uncovered these

  89. three lies from the devil. We're going to be addressing

  90. those three lies today, next Sunday and the Sunday after.

  91. Although I need to tell you, if you're looking at the posters

  92. and it matters to you, we swap the next two weeks.

  93. Next week is am I loved, and the following week, the last week is

  94. am I accepted. They're backwards on the poster.

  95. My fault, no one else's. I messed up the schedule.

  96. True story. Thank you for your forgiveness.

  97. So we're going to address these three lies starting today.

  98. Here is the first lie that we tend to believe, and it impacts

  99. our mental health and certainly impacts those who are

  100. considering suicide. My life is meaningless.

  101. My life is worthless, so what's the point?

  102. What's the point? Many of you in this room have

  103. had this thought at some level in your head at some point, and

  104. some of you are sitting here today with these exact thoughts

  105. racing through your mind. I'm a nobody, Nobody cares.

  106. I'm worthless, I'm meaningless. What we want to address today is

  107. where does this lie come from? What's contributing to this lie?

  108. And most importantly, how can we move against it?

  109. Because we can move against it. Amen.

  110. In the 1990s, an era in American history opened up, which is not

  111. a great era. It's the era of school

  112. shootings. You might remember Columbine,

  113. Aurora, Co, Sandy Hook, Texas here in Florida too many to name

  114. Dartmouth College one of the Ivy's as a result of this did a

  115. study. They released it in 2003.

  116. It's called Hardwired to Connect.

  117. They put this study together with the help of 33 experts,

  118. pediatricians, research scientists, mental health

  119. experts, young youth, service professionals, all of these

  120. people. They gathered together,

  121. hardwired to connect. Here's the opening statement of

  122. this research report. What is the crisis?

  123. They're asking why is all of this happening, this sudden

  124. spiral and violence and brokenness?

  125. What is the crisis? They say the crisis comes in two

  126. parts. The first part is the

  127. deteriorating behavioral and mental health of United States

  128. children. We are witnessing high and

  129. rising rates of depression, anxiety, attention deficit,

  130. conduct disorders, thoughts of suicides and other serious

  131. mental, emotional and behavioral problems among US children and

  132. adolescents. The research scientists, the

  133. doctors, all collaborating and coming to this conclusion that

  134. this is on the rise and this is the crisis.

  135. Now, if you read the report and get to the end, this is what

  136. they conclude. The main cause of the crisis in

  137. American childhood and adolescence is a lack of

  138. connectedness. It's the root of this mental

  139. health epidemic. And our kids, and really all

  140. these kids grow up and become US, me.

  141. They say close connections to other people and watch this

  142. connections to moral and spiritual meaning are lost.

  143. This study was not written by Christians.

  144. This is a secular study. Dartmouth College used to be a

  145. Christian place. Now not so much.

  146. And this is their conclusion. Moral and spiritual

  147. underpinnings and community are absolutely critical to our

  148. emotional well-being. Now, of course, underlying this,

  149. it would be easy to see that there are destroyers of these

  150. critical connections. For we can have these

  151. connections and at times you have maybe had these

  152. connections, are searching for those connections today, but

  153. something is destroying them. Let me just name a few.

  154. Won't be big. Aha for you.

  155. These are obvious. The breakdown of the nuclear

  156. family, divorce, busyness of schedules, shallowness of

  157. relationships, a lack of honesty, candor in

  158. relationships, and we live in the most transient time in our

  159. nation's history. People don't do what they used

  160. to do. I was born in one place, raised

  161. at that place, went to high school that place, went to

  162. college, maybe came back to that place, raised my family with my

  163. family and their family and their family for generations and

  164. generations and generate right now, we're moving all the time

  165. and because of it, we're disconnected from family,

  166. extended family and close friends.

  167. We are disconnected when we were wired hardwired, according to

  168. the study, the professionals for deep and intimate relationships.

  169. But because most of our relationships are no longer deep

  170. with each other, with moral and spiritual meaning, then we see

  171. the rise of anxiety and depression.

  172. Between 2007 and 2 thousand, 2017, the numbers of those

  173. suffering with anxiety and depression tripled in teenagers,

  174. tripled. The Journal of American Medical

  175. Association stated people in each generation of the 20th

  176. century were three times more likely to experience depression

  177. than the people of the preceding generation.

  178. Can I just step to the side and say this?

  179. As I read these words? It's almost sounding like I'm

  180. sentencing you to have to experience depression and

  181. anxiety if you're in that generation.

  182. Well, I guess that's what our generation does.

  183. So that's what's coming for me and I want to say to you do not

  184. have to agree with these things or receive them into your

  185. spirit. As you've heard with other

  186. things. You don't have to become a

  187. statistic, right? Here's what I read before For

  188. the power of God. I'm sorry for you're clapping.

  189. Is is it there or not? Sorry.

  190. The Bible says the Lord has not given you a spirit of fear, but

  191. of power, love, and a sound mind.

  192. So I declare that you can be, if you will receive it, a

  193. generation of peace, not of anxiety, not of depression.

  194. So don't have to agree with these statistics.

  195. I'm aware as I'm reading them. It can sound like a death

  196. sentence. Now, of course, our behaviors

  197. contribute to our disconnectedness.

  198. You're going to be tired of me saying this, but you're tired

  199. because you know it's true. But our phone addictions are

  200. ruining us. Absolutely ruining us.

  201. Just getting personally convicted before you.

  202. We cannot shut off our brains because of our addictions to our

  203. phones, whether it's news media, social media, gaming.

  204. Here's what happens from a physiological biochemics,

  205. chemistry kind of standpoint. We overwork the stimulation

  206. network of our brains, the serotonin and the dopamine, and

  207. we get these dumps secretions into our body when we're looking

  208. at our phone and scrolling and scrolling a new story, that

  209. thing and this thing or whatever.

  210. And we overworked this till it's almost burnt out so that a

  211. normal stimulus no longer produces in you what it should.

  212. It's not enough. I need 6 hours of YouTube in

  213. order to get one drop of dopamine instead of seeing a

  214. sunset. And so these systems begin to

  215. shut down or are rarely used. And let me tell you, serotonin

  216. and dopamine are what produced in you joy and peace.

  217. And so for missing the very chemistry that God gave us to

  218. produce joy and peace because we're addicted to our phones,

  219. that's a problem. We are part of the reason we are

  220. disconnected. Not only are we disconnected

  221. because we're losing our serotonin and our dopamine, but

  222. you know that when you're in your phone, you're not with

  223. people. It used to be that we hung out

  224. in the yard and that was enough. Or sat on the porch.

  225. You remember the days where boredom was the genesis of

  226. creativity. Kids making up games, making up

  227. stories, playing war in the front yard.

  228. That's what I did a lot. Or street football, also known

  229. as war, for sure. All of this is contributing, but

  230. today what I want to address is what the world does not address,

  231. the secular world does not address.

  232. That's actually the root of our problems, and we have to

  233. consider it. I would say we even need to

  234. focus on it. It's the spiritual meaning part

  235. of the Dartmouth study. What spiritual implications are

  236. impacting our mental health? If the lie is you're

  237. meaningless, you're worthless. So what's the point then?

  238. Where did that, like, come from? What contributes to it, and how

  239. can we move against it? I'm going to ask you to turn to

  240. Psalm 139, though I'm not going to start there.

  241. If you have a Bible, open it up. If you don't bring your Bible to

  242. church. It's like going to the mall

  243. without your wallet. OK, bring your Bible.

  244. If you don't have a Bible, raise your hand.

  245. We'll bring you a Bible, not a wallet.

  246. Turn to Psalm 139. We're going to get there

  247. eventually. We're bringing you Bible right

  248. here. We're coming.

  249. I'm going to read to you a famous scripture.

  250. When I say that, I mean all the scripture should be famous, but

  251. there's some that are hallmarks in the faith that just stick to

  252. us and help us as believers. This comes from Ephesians

    Ephesians 6 chapter mention

  253. chapter 6. I know you're in Psalm 139.

  254. We're going to get there eventually, but Ephesians

    Ephesians 6 chapter mention

  255. chapter 6, this is what the Lord says to us.

  256. Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.

  257. That should be enough. Put on the full armor of God so

  258. that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

  259. He's a schemer for our struggle. No, this is not against flesh

  260. and blood, your own flesh and blood, the flesh and blood of

  261. people around you. Rather, our struggle is against

  262. the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers

  263. of this Dark World, and against the spiritual forces of evil in

  264. the heavenly realms, The raps, rulers, authorities, powers,

  265. spiritual forces arrayed at you. I want to be very clear about

  266. this because there is a lot of confusion in the church today.

  267. But Satan is real. The enemy is real.

  268. The battle is absolutely real, whether you acknowledge it or

  269. not. Your life is in the crosshairs

  270. of an enemy, and that enemy is unseen to you, is stronger than

  271. you, bigger than you, and smarter than you.

  272. It's the truth Jesus spoke about your enemy himself, John chapter

    John 8:44

  273. 8, verse 44. You belong to your father the

  274. devil, and you want to carry out your father the devil's desires.

  275. The devil was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to

  276. the truth. There is no truth in the devil.

  277. When the devil lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a

  278. liar, and the devil is the father of all lies.

  279. Any lie that's going on in your head that is causing you mental

  280. distress comes directly from the progenitor, which is the

  281. producer, the creator of lies. It comes from the devil himself

  282. seeking to deceive you from the truth.

  283. I mean, it's pretty clear the devil is a liar and his lies are

  284. meant to kill you. He's a murderer from the

  285. beginning. He will try to take your life by

  286. a lie, either all at once or typically by erosion, little by

  287. little, one piece at a time. Satan creates a culture of

  288. darkness and death with lies. That's what he do.

  289. That's his job description. He creates a culture of darkness

  290. and death with lies. We are experiencing it.

  291. We feel it and often times we don't attribute it as we should.

  292. This is the work of the devil. This is a trick he's trying to

  293. play on me. It's a scheme.

  294. It's a scam. He partners with our culture, so

  295. where the lies kind of seep into us unbeknownst to us.

  296. It's like our oxygen and we're just breathing in these lies.

  297. It's like mold in the closet that you don't know is there

  298. until you open the closet. Like, oh, I've been breathing

  299. this the whole time. Let's open the closet and expose

  300. the mold. One of the ways that he lies to

  301. us is to our academics and sciences.

  302. Now let me be clear, God gave us the academics in the sciences.

  303. They're good. Physics, biology, chemistry.

  304. They're really, really good. But in the midst of this,

  305. there's a scheme the devil has put into it.

  306. It's called evolution. Now, before you clinch, I want

  307. to show you how the lie works. And then you can make your

  308. judgment. But evolution basically states

  309. that there was a large boom, and then there was rocks that flew

  310. everywhere. Where those rocks came from, who

  311. knows? And one of the rocks happened to

  312. be so far away from this gaseous bulb of heat and light that it

  313. produced a perfect atmosphere to grow water.

  314. And from that water, all of a sudden primordial muck came

  315. about. And you are the great, great,

  316. great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great,

  317. great, great, great descendant of the muck.

  318. It muck turned into something that swam, swam all the sudden

  319. on the land, in the air, and on the land.

  320. All the sudden they went from all the force to standing up.

  321. And then you now. We could argue whether or not

  322. that's true, but let me show you the lie that's right in the

  323. middle of it. Evolution is a lie because this

  324. is what we're taught. You are the product of

  325. randomness, which means that you are an accident.

  326. You were not purposed. You are not special, not

  327. important for sure, and in this universe you are small and

  328. insignificant. This is the lie that is given to

  329. us through the science of evolution.

  330. If this is true, then there's no such thing as a spiritual realm.

  331. There's no divine creator, there's no intelligent design,

  332. and certainly there's no enemy after us, which is perfect for

  333. the devil. Satan loves for you to believe

  334. that he does not exist. What a good scheme, What a good

  335. ambush. Just think what he's able to get

  336. away with just in this one lie. That's just here it is.

  337. If there's no spirit realm, then it's just your own voice in your

  338. own head. There's no God.

  339. There's no spirit speaking. If it's real, then there's

  340. nothing after you die. You just die.

  341. And since you're in pain, why don't you just go ahead and die?

  342. It won't really matter because you don't matter, because you're

  343. an accident. It's a lie.

  344. Another way he lies. He lies to us about the

  345. consequences of our behavior. The devil will tell us that

  346. there's no moral absolutes. The devil will tell us.

  347. The way that you decide truth is get a group of people together

  348. and they decide together what truth is.

  349. And then if humanity has the power to decide what truth is,

  350. then each man or woman, could you just decide for yourself.

  351. Secular humanism, if it's good for you, then do it.

  352. If it's right to you, then do it.

  353. The Bible says that all the Israelites did what was right in

  354. their own eyes, and God condemned it.

  355. So that's going to hurt you. That's going to crush you.

  356. If you want to be happy, you're going to have to make that for

  357. yourself, says secular humanism. And if it's true, then it's OK

  358. to step on others on the way up to the top.

  359. If it's true, then it's OK to bully people.

  360. If it's true, then it's OK to post whatever you want to post.

  361. As inflammatory is or as revealing as it is, just post

  362. away. There's no consequences.

  363. It's OK to have sex before marriage.

  364. Outside of marriage, if you get pregnant, it's just a fetus.

  365. I know that's heavy, and I don't mean it to be condemning.

  366. I mean it to be revealing. How the devil is confusing us

  367. that there is no absolute morality.

  368. It's a lie. It's seeped into our culture.

  369. He lies to us about the nature of who we are.

  370. Essentially, he wants us the devil.

  371. The scheme is that we're all just animals.

  372. Act on your impulses. Act on your innate.

  373. Yes, mine. Take get.

  374. You know what we do to animals? We kill them.

  375. Arby's. We have the meats.

  376. Where did the meats come from? If we're animals and you have no

  377. intrinsic value as a human and we just kill each other, then

  378. why not? Let's kill each other because of

  379. our skin color. Let's say that Social Security

  380. has too many people needing it, so let's institute human

  381. euthanasia. I don't like saying these

  382. things. I can't imagine you like hearing

  383. these things. It's the culture of death and

  384. darkness that is seeped into our reality.

  385. It's a scheme of the devil. Let's get some good truth.

  386. Here's how we stand against it. God, in the opposite of Satan,

  387. creates a culture of light and life with actual truth.

  388. And I want, Yep, go ahead, get in there.

  389. I want God to tell you your true nature, not what the devil is

  390. scheming to try to make you believe about who you are.

  391. You're meaningless. Nothing.

  392. You're just an animal. Kill or be killed and you don't

  393. have to go very far in the Bible for the Lord to tell you your

  394. nature. In fact, it's on page one,

  395. Genesis chapter 1. We're almost to Psalm 139.

    Genesis 1 chapter mention

  396. I know you got your Bibles open now.

  397. Now then God said, let us make mankind, and when mankind is

  398. there, it's humankind in our image, in our likeness, so that

  399. they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the

  400. sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals and over all

  401. the creatures that move along the ground.

  402. Verse 27. So God created mankind in His

  403. own image. Did you hear me?

  404. In the image of God? He created them.

  405. Did you hear me, male and female, He created them.

  406. A few notes. This is good news.

  407. You are created in the image of God.

  408. Remember at the beginning I prayed that you personally would

  409. receive this. I'm not talking to people around

  410. you. I'm talking to you.

  411. You were created in God's image. What does that mean?

  412. My son, my daughter, and my other son are created in the

  413. image of my wife and I. They look like us.

  414. They have attributes like us. They're like us.

  415. They're not us. They're distinct beings, but

  416. they're created in our image. And God says Father, Son and

  417. Holy Spirit, the three, the two of us made children.

  418. The three of these together made you, which means you have his

  419. attributes. You are like him.

  420. You're not him, distinct beings, but you have qualities within

  421. you like Him, which makes the next part of Genesis chapter 1

    Genesis 1 chapter mention

  422. possible that you would rule over the earth now without

  423. question. There's only one indisputable

  424. person who has the right to rule, and that's God.

  425. Because He's the Creator and He's all powerful, all wise,

  426. it's Him. He has all authority.

  427. Yet because you are like Him, you are given privilege to rule

  428. over the creatures of the earth, which means we are not simply

  429. animals evolved. We are image bearers of the one

  430. true God. Hallelujah.

  431. And Please note this, this is very important.

  432. I know if you ever put this together, Genesis chapter 1, God

    Genesis 1 chapter mention

  433. says you're to rule every, every creature that crawls along the

  434. ground. And then Genesis chapter 2 and

    Genesis 2 chapter mention

  435. three, the devil shows up. Does he show up like an Angel?

  436. Does he show up like another man?

  437. He shows up like a snake who crawls along the ground, which

  438. means from the very beginning, humanity was to have dominion

  439. over the devil, but we messed up.

  440. We're going to talk about that in just a minute.

  441. So note this, and I did already kind of point this out.

  442. God repeats himself three times. And if you and I know what

  443. emphasis means, like when you're talking to your children or

  444. coaching A-Team or whatever, you say it in front of you, say it

  445. again. You're like, are you getting me?

  446. Like this is very important. I'm repeating it to you.

  447. God says it three times and he absolutely knows what emphasis

  448. does to our hearts. And he says, I created you.

  449. I created you. I created you, Trita.

  450. I created everyone. I created all of this which goes

  451. to show that this world is not an accident and that you are not

  452. an accident. You were made on purpose.

  453. You are very special, incredibly special to the Lord.

  454. You have a quality within you that will outlast the world.

  455. Write this down. You are known.

  456. If you're insignificant nothing, then nobody knows you, nobody

  457. cares. If you're an accident, a random

  458. act, nobody knows, nobody cares. You just another flesh BLOB

  459. taking up space, but you are known.

  460. Genesis, excuse me, Psalm 139 verse one.

  461. You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.

  462. I don't think that we understand what it means that God knows us.

  463. So God continues and says this is how I know you.

  464. I'm going to change the words from what you see on screen.

  465. He knows when you sit and He knows when you rise.

  466. He perceives your thoughts from afar.

  467. He discerns you're going out and you're lying down.

  468. He's familiar with all of your ways before word is on your

  469. tongue. The Lord knows it completely,

  470. which is kind of crazy because we drive on I-4.

  471. He knows those thoughts. God hems you in before and

  472. behind. God lays His hand upon you.

  473. Think of this. We don't let a lot of people

  474. touch us. I mean, the handshake's not a

  475. touch, OK, but like a hug, Arm around, hand on a shoulder, hand

  476. on a head. We don't let a lot of people

  477. touch us. And God says my hand, because I

  478. know you, is upon you. This is how intimate we are.

  479. I'm touching you and I'm this close to touching you.

  480. Such knowledge, David writes, is too wonderful for me, too lofty

  481. for me to attain. Like I can't even comprehend how

  482. well you know me. God, the God of all the universe

  483. knows you intimately. God made you and he made you

  484. uniquely. There's no one like you, no one

  485. remotely like you. You are a masterpiece of God and

  486. he signs his work. Amen.

  487. The psalmist continues. He says, for you created my

  488. inmost being. This is verse 13.

  489. Jump your eyeballs down. You knit me together in my

  490. mother's womb. I praise you because I am

  491. fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful.

  492. I know that for well. My frame was not hidden from you

  493. when I was made in a secret place.

  494. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes

  495. saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me

  496. were written in your book before one of them came to be.

  497. I want to put this gently into the room, so please receive it

  498. gently. Some of our greatest mental

  499. health issues stem from problems we have with our birth parents.

  500. Abusive mom, abusive dad, absent mom, absent dad, the list goes

  501. on. For some of you, that's a

  502. massive reality. And I don't mean this

  503. disrespectfully when I say this. Your biological mother and

  504. father certainly participated in your birth.

  505. But it was God that created you, him, and him alone.

  506. Which means what anyone has done to you, said to you, or not done

  507. or not said to you, pales a comparison to the One whose

  508. opinion matters most. He knows you, He created you,

  509. and He values you. If you ever doubt that He values

  510. you, consider that He sent His one and only Son to die in a

  511. cross and outstretch His arm to redeem you, to save you, to

  512. bring you back to life. That's how valuable you are to

  513. Him. That's how much He knows you.

  514. Consider this also. God tells you the true reality

  515. of your behavior. He creates a culture of light

  516. and life by telling us the truth, and the truth is in

  517. regards to our behavior, that we are sinners.

  518. I have it, you have it, I've done it.

  519. We've all done it a lot. There's no excuses.

  520. You can blame God if you want to about why you're struggling, but

  521. the truth is either you or someone in our history all the

  522. way back to Adam has sinned and so therefore caused this great

  523. cascade of a broken and fallen world that we are now living in.

  524. This is reality, but glory be to God.

  525. The Lord has intervened. I'm wondering if you've seen his

  526. intervention. Isaiah saw it.

  527. Isaiah is a prophet who lives 700 years before Jesus, and he

  528. said this with his own mouth. The people walking in darkness

  529. have seen a great light on those living in the land of deep

  530. darkness. A light has dawned.

  531. Then the apostle John, who knew Jesus himself, kind of finished

  532. Isaiah's thought. He says the light shines in the

  533. darkness and the darkness has not, will not overcome it.

  534. And the finished work of Jesus on the cross and the fact that

  535. he rose from the dead, he proves that he has power over sin and

  536. death, all authority. And because he loves you, he

  537. died and he rose for you. Even though we're sinners, Jesus

  538. can make us clean and new. And it's at this point, usually

  539. in a church service, where the lies start to pop up from Satan.

  540. I don't know if that's true. I don't know if really.

  541. And if it is true, does it count for me?

  542. Because I've been, I've been way off track.

  543. I thought that the way that heaven worked, as you had to be

  544. good enough and then God would receive you.

  545. And so there's a scale up there and there's a good deeds and bad

  546. deeds. And I hope that mine goes like

  547. this. It's all lies from the enemy.

  548. It is by grace you have been saved, and that by faith,

  549. meaning all you have to do is believe and the finished work of

  550. Jesus is applied to you. You are known, you are not a

  551. random accident. You're not an insignificant

  552. speck that no one will miss. You have purpose.

  553. You have a plan to live out here in the earth.

  554. There is a spiritual realm. There is an enemy who's trying

  555. to kill you. He lies to you and surrounds you

  556. with lies. The devil is a liar and he's

  557. trying to disconnect you from the Father and disconnect you

  558. from one another. One last scripture, first John

  559. chapter one verse 5 says this is the message we have heard from

  560. him and declared to you. God is light in him.

  561. There is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship

  562. with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live

  563. out the truth. But if we walk in the light as

  564. he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and

  565. the blood of Jesus Son purifies us from all sin.

  566. The Dartmouth study said that we are dying internally because of

  567. a lack of connectedness. They even said they titled the

  568. report hardwired to connect, which when I read the word

  569. hardwired, which I read, is this created by God to connect, It's

  570. in US and the devil spends his entire existence trying to

  571. disconnect us from the Father and front of one another.

  572. And 1st John says that if we walk with Jesus, beginning in a

  573. relationship with him by faith, then we will be connected to one

  574. another in ways that we can't do otherwise, and he will wash away

  575. that which disconnects us from the Father, our sin.

  576. And so connection with one another in connection with the

  577. Father is restored by faith in Jesus.

  578. We've come to a decision moment here for all of us in two ways.

  579. First of all, if you've never put your faith in Jesus to start

  580. a relationship with him, it's a decision that you and you alone

  581. can make. No one else can decide for you

  582. to believe. And the Bible says if you

  583. confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus

  584. is Lord, you will be saved, purified from sin, thanks be to

  585. God, reconnected to the heart of the Father.

  586. If you need to make that decision today, then make it.

  587. Here's the other decision and we'll pray through both of these

  588. yesterday our family we're we practice the Sabbath Friday

  589. night to Saturday night and on Saturday we spend time reading

  590. the scriptures and I was reading out of Joshua Chapter 11 and in

    Joshua 11 chapter mention

  591. Joshua Chapter 11, Joshua is taking over the promised land,

    Joshua 11 chapter mention

  592. leading Israel to conquer the land and establish it for the

  593. Lord. And then Joshua Chapter 11, the

    Joshua 11 chapter mention

  594. the armies of the north up near where Syria and Lebanon are the

  595. far northern part of Israel. They band together make an

  596. alliance to come and destroy Joshua and Israel.

  597. And the Bible records in Joshua 11 that the army was more

  598. numerous than the sand and the seashore, a massive army.

  599. You following along. And Joshua must have been afraid

  600. because the Lord said to him, don't be afraid.

  601. And He said these words, Joshua Chapter 11, verse 6.

    Joshua 11:6

  602. By this time tomorrow, they will all be in your hand slain, all

  603. of them vanquished and dead. And church, hear me now, believe

  604. me later, as soon as I read that Scripture, you came to my mind.

  605. And I felt like the Lord wanted me to proclaim over you

  606. something, encourage something in faith that whatever army,

  607. whatever legion, whatever fiery arrows have been pointed at you

  608. specifically in the realm of mental health, by this time

  609. tomorrow will fall out the way of the roadside.

  610. Listen, you don't have to faith this up.

  611. I keep trying to say this like if I just believe enough, God's

  612. going to do it for me. All you have to do is receive

  613. it, His healing upon you. And as His healing comes upon

  614. you, it may look like now and it may look like a door that opens

  615. to the place of your healing. Either way, God is opening the

  616. door that these demons die in Jesus name.

  617. So I'm going to pray first for that, and then secondarily, I

  618. want to pray for those who want to choose Jesus as Savior.

  619. Would you bow your heads, close your eyes?

  620. Thank you, Lord, for your word. Thank you that we have victory

  621. in you. Thank you that the work is

  622. finished. Lord, we want to be able to

  623. receive the finished work of Jesus.

  624. He has overcome and therefore made us overcomers.

  625. Lord, we're just declaring your word that our enemies will lay

  626. in our hand, slain, dead by the roadside.

  627. These traveling partners that have been with us for years,

  628. maybe decades, gone, dropped off, never to be picked up

  629. again. If that's you here today and you

  630. want to receive this finished work of Jesus, would you just

  631. boldly raise one or both hands and say, I I need this for my

  632. mental health, Go ahead. I know it takes courage.

  633. Come on, Father, for those raising their hands, we loose on

  634. earth the victory of heaven and you promised in your word that

  635. what is loosed on earth will be loosed from heaven.

  636. So Lord, send your victory. Gone is depression, gone is

  637. anxiety, gone is these mental health issues that have been

  638. lingering because of the power of Jesus.

  639. God, I don't know how you do it, but I know that you can and you

  640. will. We declare your healing in this

  641. house. If you receive that into your

  642. spirit, say I receive your healing Jesus, he can put your

  643. hands down. If you're here today and never

  644. received Jesus as Savior, then the whole church is going to

  645. pray this prayer and you prayed along with them.

  646. Church repeat after me saying Father in the name of Jesus.

  647. I recognize that I am a Sinner in need of saving and Jesus is

  648. that Savior. I confess and believe that he is

  649. Lord Jesus. Come and live your life through

  650. me. Thanks for joining us today.

  651. We hope God is speaking to your heart through this message.
