  5. Well, good morning Riverbend Church.

  6. Good morning here in Gainesville and everybody who made it in

  7. through the crazy winner. Again, we had spring a couple

  8. weeks a few days ago now we got winter again and so good morning

  9. to you guys. Oh quit good morning to you.

  10. So, Glad that that you guys are with us today and everybody

  11. online. My name is Joe and I'm the

  12. pastor here and if it didn't get to meet you today, here in

  13. Gainesville, I'd love to meet you.

  14. I know, Pastor Michael would love to meet you if he didn't on

  15. the way in today at Oakwood. And so we're diving into week

  16. four of our series, your will not mine.

  17. And so, this Series has led us through 21 days of fasting and

  18. prayer. Today is day 15?

  19. And if you don't think I'm counting, you better believe

  20. that I am six more days, six more days.

  21. I you know, One thing I've learned is I look back on this

  22. season and I go God, I'm so glad I did that Lord, it was good but

  23. in the middle of it, you're like, whoa, come on now.

  24. It's when you make a commitment of any kinds of the Lord.

  25. I heard some people cutting out sugar, like you're going to

  26. marriage counseling, just because you cut out sugar, you

  27. don't have to go to counseling to get over this crazy.

  28. The things that we've said, God I'm gonna I'm gonna put aside

  29. something in my life that I like her love in order to get more of

  30. you and also that you may have more of me.

  31. And so, here's the thing. Thing.

  32. Next Sunday, we're calling it break through Sunday, we've got

  33. baptisms lined up, people that have gone from Death To Life

  34. over the last several weeks, and they're going to make that

  35. profession in Jesus public through baptism next week.

  36. And so both here and at Oakwood, listen, if you haven't taken

  37. that next step of baptism, what a better day, what better day to

  38. do it? They don't break through Sunday,

  39. January 29th. And so all you need to do, let

  40. us know on your connect card. You can go online and shoot me a

  41. message. There, you can find the baptism

  42. info there or you can catch one of our Masters our staff in the

  43. lobbies on the way out and just say, hey I want to talk about

  44. baptism but we want to loo love to celebrate that with.

  45. You also will be taking the Lord's supper together in all

  46. our services, both campuses next week.

  47. And so we're pressing onto this new year.

  48. And here's what we've said so far in the series 2023, it will

  49. be my best year yet. If I live it under the lordship

  50. of Jesus Christ, not just acknowledging, God, not just

  51. saying Lord. You know, I tip my hat to you.

  52. I do believe in you but saying, God, I'm Already this year to

  53. align myself under your will for my life.

  54. What do you say? What do you want knowing that

  55. that's going to be the most powerful and anointed year that

  56. we can ever have under his lordship?

  57. And so, our best year yet comes from the one who wants more and

  58. better for us than we even know how to want for ourselves.

  59. It really comes down to trusting in this prayer because this

  60. really is a prayer and a statement Jesus, your will not

  61. mind God, I want your will for my life and so what I want to

  62. Here today is what I'm going to call for Dangerous prayers for

  63. 2023 and their prayers. That I really believe that if

  64. you'll take this to heart today, you're going to have an outline

  65. in your notes today in that bulletin there on the back.

  66. There's if you take it there's a note guide there and I'd

  67. encourage you to use it. And here's why this is going to

  68. become a private prayer session between you and God at some

  69. point this week. Maybe even every day this week.

  70. And so when I wrote this, I started walking through it

  71. myself and it's been powerful as I have prayed these prayers.

  72. The Lord has started doing some new work in.

  73. In me. And so it's kind of just me

  74. shared my journal with you today, but when I say dangerous

  75. prayers, there's automatically sort of a roadblock when I say,

  76. I'm going to ask you to do something dangerous.

  77. You know why we have conditioned ourselves?

  78. So much to stay away from danger.

  79. You think about, you know what Jeff and we were kids, man?

  80. There's no helmets, no shoes, jump on the bike, you go do what

  81. you want man. Do a backflip - hey try to stay

  82. alive, Plato dark come home, but nowadays it's like got out of

  83. hell. My elbow pad.

  84. No, you gotta take. You can't take the training

  85. wheels off. And listen.

  86. I'm not knocking. I said I get it.

  87. I get it. Like we have to we have to be

  88. safe but sometimes when it comes to God's kingdom, what you'll

  89. find out is our prayers are always like this Lord, just keep

  90. us safe. Where are the prayers?

  91. God call me out into something that I'm scared to death to do.

  92. Where are the prayers? Like God?

  93. I'm so ready to have freedom in life transformation in my life

  94. that I refuse to stay safe with you.

  95. Of course, we want our kids to be safe and I want to be safe,

  96. you know where my seat belt, too.

  97. But I'm just saying, there comes As a point though where I'm like

  98. God call me into something. So big that people are going to

  99. think you're crazy. You're praying dangerous prayers

  100. and so today I hope to convince you of some dangerous prayers

  101. that you can pray, that literally can begin to call you

  102. out. Like Peter onto the water, you

  103. know, there's a story in the Bible.

  104. Peter, Jesus came Walking On The Water.

  105. Peter was in the boat. He was the only one that had the

  106. courage to say Jesus. If it's, you call me out there

  107. in the raging Storm, he didn't say Jesus, just keep us safe in

  108. the boat. He said, help me get out.

  109. And so he Stepped out and he walked on the water.

  110. And so we're going to take this lesson today from a man who

  111. originally prayed dangerous prayers, a lot of them.

  112. And the reason that we know he prayed him as he gave us his

  113. journal, God allowed his journal to actually be inspired part of

  114. the word of God and we call it the book of Psalms.

  115. But if you know what's you've got to know what songs really

  116. is. This the book?

  117. It's David's Journal. King.

  118. David is his name, a journal. He wrote the 23rd.

  119. Psalm the Lord is my shepherd. That's King David.

  120. And here's what God had to say about David, as A young man God

  121. was telling the current King Saul.

  122. He said, you know what, because of your sin, you're not going to

  123. be king anymore but I want you to look at this descriptive

  124. statement about the guy that wrote this dangerous prayer.

  125. He says, Saul your kingdom must send for the Lord has sought out

  126. a man. And here it is, after his own

  127. heart, a man who has the heart of God, who has the desire, like

  128. the heart of God. And so, this is the only time in

  129. scripture where God says that there's a man after my heart of

  130. person after my heart person who wants to know me, Of me and live

  131. a new life. Now, for sure, if you read about

  132. David, he also had a lot of sin. We know about that, but it's

  133. like his prayer life. If you see in his journal, he

  134. constantly put things right size.

  135. He brought himself back to God again.

  136. And again through prayer, he prayed dangerous prayers.

  137. Do you know why? David prayed dangerous prayers?

  138. Because I've read his journal, several times called Psalms.

  139. I read his story if you can find that first second first and

  140. second Samuel but I looked at his story and he prayed

  141. dangerous prayers because that's where true Transformation

  142. happened. He prayed dangerous prayers

  143. because they called him to step out on faith.

  144. And trust God for big things, he prayed dangerous prayers because

  145. they brought him into a deeper knowledge of God.

  146. He got to know, God, more and surrender to God more.

  147. And so today, it's going to come from to short verses in one of

  148. the kind of his journal entries. Psalm 139.

  149. And here's what it says. Search me, o God and know my

  150. heart. Test me and know my anxious

  151. thoughts, man. It's just powerful.

  152. Point out. Anything in me that offends you

  153. And lead me along the path to everlasting life.

  154. So, if you just read through those words in your mind, you

  155. just prayed a dangerous fear, not that they endanger your life

  156. actually, Chris, who's over our technical.

  157. So one of our elders here, he brought it up when I when I

  158. share this message with a staffing said you know, it's

  159. kind of deceptive because you're saying it's dangerous fairs but

  160. really it's prayers that are going to actually lead you where

  161. you want to go. They're not really that

  162. dangerous because they're actually good for you.

  163. But but listen, what I mean date?

  164. Why do I say they're dangerous prayers.

  165. When you pray this prayer, I'm going to break it down into four

  166. prayers. When you pray this prayer, they

  167. don't endanger your life. They endanger your pride.

  168. They don't endanger your life. They endanger your confort.

  169. They endanger the status quo in your life.

  170. Do you know what else? They also endanger?

  171. The secret sins that have been holding us back for a long time.

  172. That's where the danger comes in.

  173. They're dangerous to the enemy, the enemy that wants to strangle

  174. you and choke you back and pull you back and pull you back from

  175. God's best for you. They endanger the enemy and so

  176. when I say they're dangerous fears, they aren't dangerous

  177. peers, not in the way of like they're going to put your In

  178. danger, they're gonna put your pride and comfort in our sin in

  179. danger of losing the battle. So I want to go back through

  180. these four prayers here. David first said this, he said,

  181. God search me. And know my heart.

  182. So here's the first dangerous prayer.

  183. Three Little Words search my heart.

  184. Search my heart. Lord.

  185. Psalms also tells us that we should be still and know that he

  186. is God. And when you put these two

  187. things together that you're being still in the presence of

  188. God and you're praying a prayer and then you're listening,

  189. you're praying a prayer and you're not talking to God after

  190. that, you're saying one thing in here, search my heart and then

  191. you just pause before the Lord and let him start speaking.

  192. You want to know if God speaks to you I dare you to get along,

  193. put distractions aside get into a place.

  194. Say these three words sincerely from your Your heart to the

  195. heart of God. And then listen.

  196. Listen to what the Lord may say to you or reveal to you.

  197. When David said search my heart. What kind of search was he

  198. talking about? Well, this week, I told you a

  199. couple weeks ago, according got me are pods for Christmas and I

  200. loved it because I listen to podcast, you know, working out

  201. you can tune things out a little better, but I had one in my ear

  202. and we were sitting in my truck and I'm not real good with them.

  203. Like, they fall out of my ears. Sometimes it felt to me or down

  204. between the seats. So we get out of the truck, we

  205. go around, she's on her side. I'm I'm digging them.

  206. I'm not going anywhere till I find this thing.

  207. I just got it so we're digging all.

  208. I couldn't find anywhere. Took everything out of the

  209. backseat. I let the sea.

  210. Seat back and forth. I mean I'm looking everywhere

  211. and I cannot find the searching searching searching.

  212. And so I'm like it didn't fall out the door, look under the

  213. truck where we open the doors. And so I take my phone light and

  214. it starts shining all around down in between the seats.

  215. And I all of a sudden I catch a glimpse of the little shiny

  216. piece, a little metal piece on the end.

  217. It was reflecting. It was about 18 inches down in

  218. this little cylinder plastic cylinder, right beside the seat

  219. belt. And so I looked up online, how

  220. to get to that? You got to take the Over seat

  221. out and take the side of the center console off to get to it.

  222. It's so I call Aaron, I called are Mulliken and because I, he's

  223. got a bunch of tools that I was wondering, if maybe had like a

  224. little claw tool or something that I could and he goes no but

  225. you may be able to get it with a magnet.

  226. So sure enough I went and I got one of those, telescoping

  227. magnets. And I like fed at all the way

  228. down in there and I just happened to pull out.

  229. Barely got it back out, so there there it is, that's the second

  230. time. I've dropped him in my truck and

  231. couldn't find him by the way, but that time was crazy.

  232. And so when I, when I thought David said, search my heart I

  233. think he's talking about search like Joe was searching for his

  234. lost are R-pod he wasn't giving up on it.

  235. He was going to go get the magnet.

  236. Listen, some of us, we need to let God take a telescoping

  237. magnet to our heart and go down there and pull out some stuff

  238. that he hadn't dealt with in a long time.

  239. Come on, get on down in the god, listen, I'm good, I'm good Lord.

  240. But no no search me God, get the magnet out on me.

  241. God and go down in there and see if there's anything you need to

  242. pull up that we hadn't talked about in a while.

  243. Something you want to set me free from that I hadn't been

  244. free from, let me give you a question to help you reframe

  245. this search here. What is going on inside me?

  246. Even if it doesn't make it outside me, this hurt my

  247. relationship with God or hurting your relationship with your

  248. spouse or your friends, or the people around you, what's going

  249. on inside. And here's the argument just

  250. because it's once it starts going on inside of you,

  251. eventually it will make it outside of you.

  252. I would I should have said that hap made it outside of me yet.

  253. That is hurt my relationship with God, because think about

  254. it. Where does where does sin start?

  255. It starts in our heart, doesn't it didn't always come out in our

  256. hands and our feet and our words, it starts in the heart.

  257. Lust lust hides in the hearts and starts in the heart and it

  258. also hides in the heart lust will hide in the heart and see,

  259. God doesn't want us just to look good on the outside.

  260. He wants to deal with that, inner hurt, and that inner pain

  261. that's inside of us in that inner sin.

  262. Battle that so he wants to help us in that struggle, anger,

  263. hides in the heart, you can smile and tell everybody else.

  264. Everything is Okay, nothing, nothing man, I'm fine today.

  265. I'm having a good day and you can be raging inside rage hides

  266. in the heart unforgiveness hides in the heart.

  267. And I'm not saying this to send but we know this to be true past

  268. hurt, and Trauma can also hide in the heart and be impacting

  269. your entire life right now. And so Jesus was serious about

  270. what was going on inside of your heart.

  271. Look what he says a person who produces good things from the

  272. treasury of a good heart of Treasury of a good heart.

  273. And a person, produces evil things from the treasury of an

  274. evil. Heart treasury's, Like,

  275. overflow, overflow of my heart. What you say, flows from what is

  276. in your heart. And on Jesus, Just Dropped a

  277. Bomb here. What he says is if things are

  278. making it out of your mouth then there's something deeper to them

  279. because you know, sometimes people say things and they said

  280. well I didn't mean what I said. I'm not saying we don't misspeak

  281. sometimes but if it's a repetitive thing something that

  282. just keeps going. It's not just a misspeak.

  283. There's something in the heart and I'm not saying we should

  284. point the fingers at everybody else you know where we need to

  285. point to first right here this guy.

  286. If there's something that keeps coming out of my mouth this

  287. dishonoring God maybe Unholy language may be hating on

  288. people, maybe. Cutting people down, eventually

  289. you got to turn the gun and go, you know what?

  290. It's not just, it's not just how I was raised.

  291. It's not just me. Miss speaking, I got some heart

  292. issues that I need God to deal with.

  293. Do you know what sin does that hide in the living room and

  294. kitchen of our hearts? Either it hides, an unfinished

  295. basement and the dark closets. You know why?

  296. I want, I don't want it to be exposed and so this is a

  297. dangerous prayer. Lord search my Heart.

  298. You know why? It's dangerous because you let

  299. the holy spirit in and he's going to start working on you,

  300. he's going to start bringing conviction, you haven't felt in

  301. a while. He's going to call you to

  302. confession and repentance and maybe even call us to Freedom.

  303. So it's a transforming prayer, especially when we act on it.

  304. So I dare you to play pray this prayer, this week.

  305. If your pastor can, they are you and that's okay.

  306. I dare you to get before the Lord in a quiet, place for a few

  307. minutes, and go God search, my heart, searched my heart.

  308. Now here's the thing. Once you do that, the spirit of

  309. God won't force you to change. He invites you to change, it

  310. gives you the power and authority, you need to change,

  311. but he never ever forces you. Why?

  312. Because he invites us, you know, this is, this is how the Holy

  313. Spirit works. Works on us too.

  314. We pray, this prayer. God begins to reveal things and

  315. then, he allows us to walk and leave the oldest behind and step

  316. into the new. You, it's a little bit at the

  317. time, God knows we can't handle it.

  318. All at one time, he gives us his Spirit.

  319. Immediately, there's a new me living inside of me, because his

  320. spirit is there, but now I've got a walk that out every day

  321. and sometimes you feel like you went backwards, not forwards

  322. some days but you get back up again and you walk for it again

  323. and go God keep searching my heart.

  324. Here's the second prayer. Test my mind.

  325. Test my mind. Now there's a lot that I don't

  326. like about this prayer. I actually have become more

  327. comfortable with Lord, search my heart.

  328. Then test my mind, Two reasons. One, the mind is where a lot of

  329. crazy stuff goes on. I know.

  330. None of y'all think crazy thoughts and you don't have bad

  331. soundtracks in your head. Sometimes about yourself or

  332. about the world around you or about your pastor about your

  333. regret. But listen, sometimes that beats

  334. me up and I don't know if I want to let God in on what's going on

  335. in my mind even though he's already there.

  336. But also to say, Lord, test my mind, there's already so many

  337. mental health struggles, the enemy right now.

  338. I really believe this. It is a, it is one of the

  339. tactics of the enemy demonic attack, over the minds of God's

  340. people. It's fine.

  341. Your heart can belong to God, but it's almost like, don't give

  342. him your mind though. Don't let the Lord in your mind.

  343. Because Lord forbid, he may come in and start wanting to heal

  344. that and rewire some things and ask you to change some things

  345. and get some counseling and deal with some of the things that

  346. have been that you've been you're wrong.

  347. Wrong thought patterns, you've been dealing with the see

  348. David's prayer. Here gets to the root of the

  349. mental struggle. Look what he says.

  350. Lord test me and know my anxious thoughts.

  351. He gets very specific test me and know my anxious thoughts.

  352. Do you know why this is a hard prayer because you're asking God

  353. to test you. Nobody, I know loves to think

  354. about that. I did.

  355. God, will you just test my mind today?

  356. Come on Lord, bring your test. I saw a meme and it made me

  357. think about it. Some of you felt like this, this

  358. last year me calling God to make sure I'm not on his strongest

  359. Warriors list again in 2023. I saw this week is some people

  360. told me when we're going into this fast and New Year, they

  361. were like, listen, Joe 2022. God tested me.

  362. Plenty, I'm not praying this. I'll pray search my heart, but

  363. I'm gonna skip to the third period because I'm not praying

  364. that one. Test me, Lord.

  365. But look, what he was praying, though.

  366. He was praying about anxious thoughts worries.

  367. You know what? That gets at that gets it places

  368. in our lives where we're not, trusting God.

  369. So, here's the question. What worry Have I made bigger

  370. than God in my life? Life.

  371. King David had plenty to worry about you, go read his story.

  372. Here's what you'll find out. He lived at War almost his

  373. entire life. He lived at War either somebody

  374. was gonna attack him or he had to go attack somebody when he

  375. was a young man. God anointed him to be the king

  376. and then for 15 years he pretty much was on the run from the

  377. current King King Saul running for his life.

  378. You lived on the run for that long and he'd actually done.

  379. Nothing wrong. This guy was an evil guy that

  380. was just after him at the end of David's life.

  381. One of his sons tried basically Roku and tried to overtake the

  382. kingdom. And so even at the end of his

  383. life, it ended in total chaos, and War.

  384. And so David constantly had reason to worry and yet here he

  385. says, Lord will you test my anxious thoughts?

  386. Show me where I'm not trusting you God, where have I made my

  387. worries bigger than my God see this is the crazy thing.

  388. We trust that we have a God who that when we die and our body is

  389. here and our spirit is gone. We trust that he's going to take

  390. us to heaven. But we don't trust that he's

  391. bigger than whatever we're worried about currently many

  392. times. Do we?

  393. God, I know you going to take me to heaven when I die.

  394. But do you really care about my day to day?

  395. And he does see, this is dangerous prayer, invites the

  396. Holy Spirit to search our minds and point out.

  397. Where am I? Not trusting you God.

  398. That's what David was getting at.

  399. God, I'm probably overlooking some things.

  400. Where am I? Not trusting.

  401. You remember what Paul said about worry?

  402. Philippians 4. He said this don't worry about

  403. anything and that statement always ticks me off because I

  404. love it. Don't you just love it when

  405. you're Stressed out and people say hey don't worry.

  406. You just want to go like give a little smack real quick.

  407. It means nothing. Right it's empty words.

  408. Don't wear hey hon, don't worry about that.

  409. Do you know? That makes no sense but here's

  410. what happens. Paul gives us what to do here

  411. instead. Pray about everything, tell God

  412. what you need, it's okay. God welcomes our prayers.

  413. We've used this in our prayer, service God, welcomes.

  414. Our prayers. He wants you to tell him.

  415. Your needs. So when we say I'm praying, your

  416. will not mine. That doesn't mean that I can't

  417. pour my desires out to the Lord. He welcomes that.

  418. He says, tell God what you need. But then also, here's part of

  419. our prayer life. Thank him for what he has done.

  420. And by the way, gratitude in prayer time will change your day

  421. completely. Another challenge.

  422. I'll give th not part of the dangerous prayers.

  423. Another challenge. I'll give to you.

  424. Start your journal or start your prayer time with his many, good

  425. things from your past. As you can remember that God has

  426. done for you before you worry about the worries of the day.

  427. Thank God for everything he's already done.

  428. I kind of like to do this backwards first, thank God and

  429. then tell him what I need because he gets my mindset.

  430. A lot of times it says that then you're going to experience God's

  431. peace which exceeds anything we can understand.

  432. And this is I love this verse because it's in the midst of

  433. anxiety, it doesn't say he has to remove what we're anxious

  434. about. We don't have to be healed from

  435. our anxiety, to find his speech right in the middle of it.

  436. He can speak peace right over you right in that moment and

  437. sure you may have to go out and keep working on, whatever's

  438. making you anxious and get to the root of it and dig down and

  439. get some help and get a prayer counselor and get some friends

  440. around you. But but the truth is Is God can

  441. speak peace. That is separated from

  442. circumstances. And it says his piece is going

  443. to guard your hearts and Minds as you live in Christ.

  444. Jesus. So let me give you in short what

  445. Paul was saying here. If you will let worry prompt you

  446. to prayer, you'll find peace there if you'll let Worry Be

  447. Your prompt to prayer, what do we usually do?

  448. When we worry where we start thinking about more things that

  449. could go wrong and we just fixate on it.

  450. So one of the rewiring our brains thing that I think David

  451. had learned to do and God wants To do every time we feel

  452. worried, let that prompt us to pray to the God who can change

  453. it. One of the things that I've

  454. started to do over the years, I've done this several times.

  455. When I find myself really stressed and worried whether

  456. it's about family ministry, sometimes the agenda just seems

  457. so long. Like, God, how am I going to get

  458. everything done and start worry where he just builds up,

  459. anxiety, can come from that, but I'll make a list sit down and

  460. make a list of everything you're worried about.

  461. One thing I've learned is you SLI not as long of a list as I

  462. thought it would be. I thought I could fill up a page

  463. and really it's like three or four things maybe five or six

  464. things at the most shot, I write down what I'm worried about and

  465. then I look at the things that would never happen.

  466. Look at the things and go. You know what that that's never

  467. happened to me before. It's probably never going to

  468. happen to me. And so, I just got to give that

  469. to the Lord. And then look at what you have

  470. left on the list, Circle, the things on my list is what I do.

  471. I Circle the things that I have control over, God has given me

  472. some Authority and control in my life.

  473. The things I'm worried about that, I Do something about.

  474. I'm going to prepare for that. I'm going to work on that.

  475. I'm going to work towards eliminating that worried by

  476. being prepared and then there's another thing on the list.

  477. There are things that are out of your control.

  478. It's not that they're not important.

  479. Like sometimes, you know, when you know my going to get in a

  480. car wreck if some going to happen to me that's out of my

  481. control, I can be safe and I can be wise but there's so many

  482. things out of my control you know what you have to do with

  483. those trust. Those to the Lord that loves you

  484. more than, you know how to love yourself and then you can move

  485. on with your day sometimes with a And full of things that you

  486. can do something about, let me give you the third dangerous

  487. prayer here. Here it is reveal.

  488. I want to tell you what, the first to everybody's going to be

  489. okay with these. This one right here, I hate.

  490. I honestly sometimes in my flesh.

  491. I hate this. One reveal.

  492. My sinful actions. Mmm.

  493. He's here. What here's what David said,

  494. here's how it translates out. Look at look what he said.

  495. Point out anything in me that offends.

  496. You who that's a strong prayer, get quiet before the Lord and go

  497. God, will you point out anything in me that offends?

  498. You I really believe that this may be one of the keys to

  499. Revival in the church and by Revival.

  500. I mean us being fully experience of the Holy Spirit completely

  501. filled with his Spirit completely led by his spirit.

  502. I believe that prayer point out anything in me, that defends you

  503. an older translation of this says Lord show me my evil ways.

  504. That's where I get the Deeds, the action piece is looking at

  505. the language here. Lord, reveal my sinful actions.

  506. I don't think David was praying about a sin that he was aware

  507. of. I don't think he was currently

  508. living in, you know, sexual sin, or living with unforgiveness

  509. openly and just saying, God will you just show me?

  510. I don't think it was a blind eye like that.

  511. I think David had already confessed, he wasn't coming to

  512. the Lord playing dumb. I think what he was saying is

  513. God, Is there any sin that I'm not aware of in my life?

  514. See what if there's something holding you back in your prayer

  515. life and you don't even realize it anymore.

  516. Let me give you a question to help.

  517. You think about this prayer Dua, have a sin blind spot in my

  518. life. You know, when you're driving

  519. down the road and you gon pass, or you going to, you know,

  520. Interstate for changing lanes, every vehicle has some sort of

  521. blind spot even with the cameras and all the technology in the

  522. blind spot mirrors. It seems that there are still

  523. still some blind spots as far as where we can't see and you just

  524. can't see everything around. And so the deal with blind spots

  525. is, you can't know that they're there.

  526. B looking. You just have to assume that

  527. they're there. I just assumed Are there and I

  528. thought about this, we would be better, spouses friends,

  529. Brothers and Sisters in Christ and neighbors.

  530. If we started with the assumption that I probably have

  531. a blind spot that I'm not aware of in my life.

  532. Think about that for a minute. What if you?

  533. And I just decided every morning we woke up before the Lord God.

  534. I know that I think I'm doing pretty good today and I'm not

  535. going to live in the glooms today, but I will say this got I

  536. probably have a sin blind spot. Will you reveal that to me?

  537. I need God and I need others to help me at times.

  538. So many relationships are separated out, so many families

  539. are torn apart because of sin, blind spots, and people

  540. unwilling to pray this prayer. God, do I have a blind spot?

  541. Lord, search me and reveal my sinful actions.

  542. So what are blind spots? You know, the first thing that

  543. blind Sparks are blind spots. Are there things that you are

  544. ignorant to you just don't know it.

  545. You don't know that. God's word says, you shouldn't

  546. do that. You don't know that God's word

  547. says you should be doing something.

  548. And so you just live in in a way, maybe hurting yourself and

  549. hurting hurting others and don't realize it.

  550. And so this is where we have to get.

  551. So intentional about opening, God's word and saying, God, I'm

  552. not coming to your word with my own thoughts, I'm coming to your

  553. word, to let it speak to me, you speak truth into me.

  554. Also, you can ask a trusted friend and I get that.

  555. This is hard because it has to be somebody that, you know,

  556. loves you and they don't have an agenda.

  557. You cannot ask somebody that has an agenda in your life to this

  558. question. Do I have a blind spot but you

  559. need somebody. If you really want to step into

  560. all God has for you in 2023, you need a brother, a sister,

  561. somebody who cares for you enough?

  562. And you know, they don't have an agenda they actually just want

  563. good for me and get in a quiet place with them and just go

  564. listen, you see my life. You kind of see my behind the A

  565. little bit. Is there any blind spots that

  566. you see that I may not be aware of?

  567. No, you got to be careful because that is a painful

  568. question, right? That's why there has to be

  569. trust. There has to be love between the

  570. people. You could go to a counselor and

  571. I may not be a bad thing. If you tell them your story and

  572. go. Hey, do you see any blind spots?

  573. What am I missing here? And that's a question that I've

  574. asked my counselor before is there at what am I missing here.

  575. But the second thing is not things, you're ignorant.

  576. To is things that you've become callous to, that's a blind spot.

  577. And what I mean by that, you You used to feel the pain of Sting

  578. of conviction, when you send to get Scott in that area.

  579. But then over time, you just kept pushing the Holy Spirit

  580. off, push it all, sing God, I'm good, I'm good.

  581. And then eventually even though the Lord wants to convict you

  582. and free you of something, it's become sort of a pet that you're

  583. just Catalyst to you, don't, you don't feel the sting anymore.

  584. And so we have to get to a point where we're going, I'm not

  585. looking to social media or what's popular to get fed.

  586. Because I may be calloused I need to go back to God and say,

  587. God, what do you say? I need people who love me and I

  588. need to be humble enough to lay down my pride and let somebody

  589. in and say, hey what have I become callous to in my life?

  590. I really believe that can lead to a lot of transformation.

  591. You need to be careful. Let the spirit lead you if

  592. that's a person but you know if you're married in the room I may

  593. be a question for your spouse. And again you got to have trust

  594. and love. Y'all are supposed to be for

  595. each. Working on your marriage all the

  596. time. And so it may be a good question

  597. to ask in the right situation but see we have to have the help

  598. of the Holy Spirit and someone who loves us to lay aside pride

  599. and listen. So why in the world would we go

  600. through dangerous prayers? Like this?

  601. Why? Because it's the path to

  602. Freedom, that's why sometimes sin can even limit our prayers.

  603. Did you know, that specifically in how we treat the people

  604. around us of our sin is overflowing the people around

  605. us, first Peter, Peter Talking about husband and wife

  606. relationship sand. Here's what he said.

  607. I read it to you because what he was saying, he was saying,

  608. sometimes husband's you're praying.

  609. And God is not working in your prayers because of how you treat

  610. your spouse. Look at this.

  611. He said you should treat her as you should.

  612. So your prayers will not be hindered in that crazy thought

  613. that God cares. So much about how you treat the

  614. people around you about, whether there's blind spots and calluses

  615. whether you're ignorant, some things you need to be doing and

  616. it doesn't have to just be your spouse.

  617. I think it could be. How do you in your circle?

  618. Maybe God's. Your prayers are being hindered

  619. because of how you've been treating the people around you

  620. and you need help. Show me you need to pray the

  621. prayer with David. God show me pointed out.

  622. I want to be holy. Here's the last prayer, though.

  623. The last piece of this and it piece.

  624. It's really simple. Lead me to New Life leaving two

  625. new life. Look what, look what David said

  626. here. He said lead me along the path

  627. to everlasting life, and he wrote this before, For Jesus

  628. walked on the earth before he went to the Cross, before he

  629. ascended. Before, he poured out the spirit

  630. and really the church age was burst.

  631. This was before that. So everlasting life would have

  632. been understood as a path in this world.

  633. That was going to lead you to be with Jesus forever leads you to

  634. be with God forever, everlasting life for us.

  635. So, we know it doesn't start in heaven.

  636. It starts the moment we surrender ourselves to Christ,

  637. that's where New Life Begins. So the prayer prayer like this.

  638. It's not just the Lord lead me to Heaven one day.

  639. It's a I know that you want to transform my life on this Earth.

  640. Before I ever get to heaven, you may want to change somehow, I'm

  641. speaking change what's going in my heart, and in my mind, and in

  642. my relationships, and in my actions, I know you want to

  643. change that. Jesus is so Lord.

  644. Will you lead me to New Life and say we can't pray a prayer like

  645. that unless we're willing to put our feet in it, unless we're

  646. willing to put our shoes on and say God I don't want to be so

  647. prideful to think that I've got it, all figured out, Lord I

  648. don't, here's what Paul said to the church at Corinth.

  649. Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person.

  650. The old life is gone or another way to think about that.

  651. The old life has passing away and the new life has begun.

  652. Ever thought about this. God wants you to live New Life,

  653. probably for every single one of us, there's an old habit or an

  654. old tendency or there's some trauma in your past or some pain

  655. from how you were raised or something you've been through.

  656. And you're just assuming that it's this.

  657. How you got to live the rest of your life?

  658. I look at the scripture, I believe God wants to make you

  659. new but I don't think you can find the newness without praying

  660. these other prayers. God search me, test me reveal

  661. myself. To me and Lord lead me into New

  662. Life. See it's still a choice to

  663. follow the leading. Once we pray for leading, we

  664. have to say, God, I'm gonna put my yes on the table just like

  665. Isaiah. I'm not going to wait until you

  666. tell me what I'm supposed to do. Lord, I'm gonna put my yes on

  667. the table now. So can I give you a question

  668. here? Oakwood.

  669. Can I give you this question this morning?

  670. Where is Jesus calling you to leave some old knee behind and

  671. live New Life? What is the area that you still

  672. been holding back from God? And listen, I know I'm harping

  673. on this because the Lord just goes to show, take it back to

  674. him again. Take it back to him again.

  675. There's still some people that haven't got freedom, that God

  676. wants them to give God wants them to get it.

  677. Maybe the freedom has it come because you've never surrendered

  678. your life to Christ and, you know that he's calling you

  679. today. Listen, there is a God that

  680. loves you in spite of everything you've ever done.

  681. He loves you. He desires to give you new life.

  682. He doesn't want you to have to live.

  683. Live with the pain of loneliness, separated from him

  684. anymore, you don't have to get your act together, you don't

  685. have to change yourself to come to him.

  686. All you need to do is surrender to him and maybe New Life can

  687. start for you today. But what area of your life, have

  688. you been holding back on the Lord and during this 21 days, my

  689. prayer has been God search, our hearts and our minds and

  690. revealed our sin and help us confess and repent lead us to

  691. New Life. When we get on the other side of

  692. January may we be walking in more new life than we ever had

  693. before the new life? Me the anointed me the as God

  694. intended me to be version of me. I wrote this in my journal at

  695. some point. And I didn't write it for you.

  696. I would think about a message. When I wrote it, I was writing

  697. it to me. But here's what I wrote many

  698. times. The only thing standing between

  699. you and that was Joe between you Joe and your best year yet, is

  700. the decision to act on what the holy spirit is prompting you to

  701. do. Will you bow with me across the

  702. room Oak? What I want you to stay with me.

  703. Bow with me, if you lose focus, when you bow your head, you can

  704. just keep looking at me right now because we're not done yet.

  705. So I want you to hang with me, hang with me right here.

  706. Here. What is the holy spirit prompted

  707. you to do? But you've been pushing back

  708. against it. What area of surrender or what

  709. prayer of search me? Reveal it Lord.

  710. What confession prayer? Do you need to pray?

  711. Where is God calling you to act? But you've been holding back and

  712. listen. Today is the day, maybe for you.

  713. It's time to surrender your life to Jesus Oakwood.

  714. Maybe it's time your God, brought you right there where

  715. you are to surrender your life to Jesus Christ today, because

  716. that is the next step. And maybe you already know that

  717. you've got wrong and you need to be forgiven but you want to

  718. experience his new life. Listen, if you're here in

  719. Gainesville, if you're there at Oakwood, I want you to pray this

  720. prayer, if that's you and you go, Joe, I'm ready to experience

  721. New Life. Pray it from your heart, to the

  722. heart of God. Just say this Jesus today, I

  723. Surrender my life to you. I'm asking you to save me and

  724. forgive me. And give me new life that you

  725. promised. Just tell him say you're my

  726. Lord. I'm going to let you be the boss

  727. in my life, the best. I know how from this day

  728. forward. I'm ready to follow you.

  729. Let me just tell him. Thank you.

  730. Jesus, for saving me. Amen.

  731. Listen, if that was you. I want you real quick before we

  732. move forward. Just raise your hand if that was

  733. you today. He said Joe, that was me.

  734. I just did that. Thank you anybody else?

  735. Hear you? Say come on John.

  736. I did that. Just thank you.

  737. I see you. Anybody else?

  738. Praise You Jesus. Awesome.

  739. Listening for you guys. I would love to celebrate with

  740. you Oakwood. We love to Celebrate Pastor.

  741. Michael, would you surrendered your life today?

  742. Here's what I want for the rest of us.

  743. We're going to turn this into just prayer session down in the

  744. front here in an oak wood to its.

  745. So I don't want you to feel like you got a hold back today.

  746. If the spirit has prompted you on something, I want to ask you

  747. to let a prayer begin the rest of your week.

  748. And what I mean by that come to a place.

  749. If you're physically able, you can come sit on the front.

  750. You can come kneel at the front and begin to pray about the

  751. things that the Lord wants to bring new life to you in.

  752. In these areas. I want to pray for you and I'm

  753. Invite you to respond to Jesus. Thank you for salvation today.

  754. Thank you for these dangerous prayers that endanger our pride

  755. in our sin and our old cells. And God I'm asking you even now

  756. Lord, help us respond in obedience to you today.

  757. Lord, reveal it. That we make forsaken confess it

  758. in Jesus name. Will You Stand Together

  759. everywhere? Oakwood stand.

  760. Come on down as the band Legion since morning.

  761. Thank you for listening to the river.
