Plan, Vision, Dream | Pastor Rob Ketterling

-
Today we have a special treat because Pastor Rob Ketterling
-
who is the founding and lead pastor of River Valley Church in
-
Minneapolis, MN is with us in the house today.
-
Now here's the deal, Church family.
-
Pastor Rob pastors a multi site church just like our church.
-
They, we have 4 locations. They have 11 locations all
-
across the Twin Cities, Minneapolis, Saint Paul.
-
But Pastor Rob is not just a pastor, he is a friend.
-
And so Sarah and I have been doing life with Pastor Rob and
-
his wife Becca for almost a quarter of a century. 23 years
-
ago we met at Rob's church in Minnesota.
-
And I'm just so thankful for your friendship.
-
Friendship, your mentorship to me.
-
He's been a Big Brother in ministry to us and so thankful.
-
But he's also an author. And about a year ago he released
-
what's this book called, The Generous Life, or we'll say The
-
Generous Life. And man, oh man, oh man, as soon
-
as I saw this book and the concepts inside of it, I said,
-
Pastor Rob, you have to come to our church.
-
That was 14 months ago, you guys.
-
That's how in demand this guy is.
-
He literally just got back from teaching these principles in
-
Australia. God has an anointing on Pastor
-
Rob's life to minister to us. And so man, we are pumped that
-
in the middle of this financial series, I said, Pastor Rob, come
-
on, don't just teach us, challenge us.
-
Somebody say challenge come on every location, put your hands
-
together for my friend pastor. Rock, come on.
-
Amen. Amen.
-
You can be seated. You can be seated.
-
It's a joy to be here. And like your pastor said, Matt
-
and Sarah have been friends of ours for almost 25, which is
-
hard to believe. Before we had Gray hair.
-
And it's a joy. And I just want you to know
-
this. We've admired your pastors as
-
they multiply. I you have no idea how many
-
churches were on the brink of closing and they coached them up
-
or those that were struggling and they coached them up like
-
your reward for sending them on the road and letting them
-
minister and to help these churches.
-
Their heart is for pastors and when they're out from here, they
-
are multiplying the effectiveness of what God's
-
doing here. And if you love your pastors,
-
can you show your love and appreciation?
-
Just give them a handclap like love, love, love them.
-
When he asked me to be here at this time of year, I said yes,
-
it's 4° in Minnesota. Praise God, when it's seven,
-
it's 76° warmer here than back home right now.
-
That was an easy prayer to answer.
-
All right. Oh, man, it's a joy.
-
And as he said, I have a book on the generous life, and I can't
-
believe that God has allowed me to do that.
-
I'll be honest, we started our whole church on credit cards.
-
Nobody would give us a loan. I went to seven different banks.
-
They all said no, there was no church planning group that gave
-
you money. And I had five Visa Gold credit
-
cards, each with a $20,000 limit.
-
And I said to my wife, I think the Lord provided with Visa
-
Gold. So we did.
-
We put $100,000 on credit cards at 21% interest.
-
OK, the first time I met Dave Ramsey, financial peace guy, I
-
said, forgive me Dave for I have sinned.
-
I mean like, that's all I said to him.
-
Our our conference room, true story.
-
Our conference room is named the Visa Gold conference room.
-
And people like, were you sponsored by them?
-
I said, no, I sponsored them. You know, like, and it's just to
-
remind people that like, look what God did, Look what God did.
-
We, we gave our first offering away.
-
We got our first offering. I gave it all the way.
-
And my wife said, like, you know, we do have bills.
-
Like, do you plan on? I was like, I don't know, I
-
didn't think that through. So I just, I look at where we
-
are and what God has done. And, and I can just tell you,
-
I've learned lesson after lesson after lesson.
-
And in 2008 we started doing Kingdom builders like a lot of
-
churches do you do. And we raised 800,000 over our
-
tide, which was incredible. And over the years, this very
-
last year, our church raised 12.5 million over the tide.
-
Something supernatural has happened.
-
Yeah. And it also let you know we gave
-
$10 million to world missions gave away.
-
And, and we have a our church is obsessed with missions.
-
We want to send 500 missionaries out from our church and right
-
now we're at 299 that we've sent out into the world and we're
-
just like God take us on this generosity journey.
-
Let us be generous with the people we send with the money we
-
give. And so he's asked me to steward
-
this and and so I at least likely, least likely guy to do
-
it, but it gives God all the glory.
-
OK, so we're going to get into generosity, but I'm going to do
-
a little mini sermon after I show you my family.
-
And it's not the generosity sermon, but take a look at my
-
family. Take a look at this picture.
-
You'll see our family up there. You'll see my wife Becca up
-
there and my our oldest son Connor and his wife Alexia on
-
the far right. And he's holding Beckham and
-
Anastasia, first two grandchildren, then our youngest
-
son Logan, his wife Mac, and then our little Enzo.
-
They just adopted Enzo. And we're so excited to have
-
three grandkids. And here's where the little mini
-
sermon comes in. Connor, our oldest son, was born
-
with autism, OK. And we didn't know it at the
-
time. We just noticed each little
-
idiosyncrasy. He'd only sleep in the car seat,
-
buckled in. If we laid him in the crib,
-
cried all night, put him in the car seat, He would sleep.
-
And how many sleep deprivation? You're like, bring that car seat
-
in, you know, and we're putting it in his room like he likes the
-
car seat. We're going to do that, you
-
know? But that was a sign of autism.
-
And then we noticed that everything was a train.
-
He lined everything up. So we bought him trains.
-
And then we noticed that he didn't make eye contact.
-
And he. Yeah.
-
And we thought, oh, he's shy. He's very shy.
-
Father's very outgoing, but he's very shy.
-
And then we noticed that he only parroted back to us.
-
Where are we going? Where are we going?
-
To the mall. To the mall.
-
So you anywhere. OK.
-
And we brought him to the doctor, and they said your son
-
has autism. And we didn't know that.
-
And they said you need to put him into special Ed and get him
-
some schooling and help. So we did that.
-
And we, as we saw him, we just thought we could pray for a
-
miracle. Let's pray for a miracle.
-
So we started praying for miracle.
-
We said, God, we love our Son where he is, but we know that
-
you're a miracle working God and there's a miracle waiting for
-
him in heaven. So we're going to pray for that.
-
And and nothing happened. And I just want you to know that
-
we loved our son like he was, but we knew a miracle was
-
possible. And if you have a child with
-
special needs and you've never read this, there's a poem or a
-
little story called Welcome to Holland.
-
Says all your friends are going to Italy and you dream of going
-
to Italy and your plane gets diverted to Holland.
-
Don't get bitter. Love Holland.
-
So we're like, OK, God, we love him.
-
But you know, we'd love to see heal.
-
It didn't happen. So after two years of praying, I
-
gave up. I'm just going to be honest, I
-
gave up. I said, God, you're a kind God
-
and a loving God. But I'm not seeing very much
-
power right now. So I'm not even going to pray
-
for it. I don't even know how I'm going
-
to have faith for anybody else. And can I tell you that's a
-
terrible way to live. Don't let your reality go
-
against God's word. God's word is true no matter
-
what your reality is. So I'm living.
-
Yeah, that's that's somebody needed to hear that.
-
And so one day this visiting pastor is there and he goes,
-
hey, is there anything we can pray for?
-
And I was just about to say church growth or better
-
offerings or some pastoral prayer request.
-
And my wife goes, our son has autism and we want to see him
-
healed. And I'm thinking we kind of gave
-
up on that one. But I'm not getting in front of
-
Mama bear. How many, you know what I'm
-
talking about? You're just not.
-
She's kind of tenacious in that moment.
-
And, and he goes, OK, so he lays hands on our son.
-
And he goes, the Lord has heard that you've called him a good
-
God and a kind God. But now to show you that he's a
-
powerful God, he's going to heal your son for his glory.
-
How many of you got my attention now?
-
Word of knowledge going on right there.
-
And he lays hands on Connor. And Connor gets done, the
-
prayers finished. Connor looks up.
-
He goes, hey, dad, where are we going?
-
He starts to play with all the other kids.
-
He starts to run. Miraculously healed 100% of
-
autism just like that. We, we bring him to the teacher
-
at special Ed. We bring him in teacher Pam.
-
We're like, look, she goes, Oh my goodness.
-
She gets her supervisor. She goes test Connor and she
-
goes, what am I looking for? He's he's, I don't see anything.
-
She goes, he had autism. He got miraculously healed in
-
church yesterday. The supervisor goes, I don't
-
believe in healing. I don't believe it happened.
-
I believe you've been putting a perfectly normal child in
-
special Ed for two years. How dare you steal from Special
-
Ed? And I said, yeah, it's every
-
parent's dream to RIP off Special Ed.
-
You know, I said, no, God healed my son, and he gets all the
-
glory. Yeah.
-
So now I share this with you. And.
-
And I can't show a family picture and not give God the
-
glory. Do you see what I'm saying?
-
So let me just show you how your miracle is possible.
-
All right? I just want to show you
-
something. Put this slide up on the screen.
-
I want to show you where you're at.
-
You're living in your now. But the Bible says in first
-
Peter 24 that by his stripes you're healed, that Jesus Christ
-
has already paid for your healing.
-
The Bible also tells us in Revelation 21 that whatever is
-
wrong on this earth will be righted in heaven.
-
It's going to be fixed. OK, so go ahead, put the next
-
slide up. What we're doing when we're
-
praying for this right now, we're acknowledging where we
-
are. We're saying, God, I know I'm in
-
this sickness. I'm not denying it, but I am
-
asking for what you paid for on the cross.
-
And I'm asking for what is waiting for me into heaven to be
-
pulled into my now. And you see the line with the
-
miracle. That's all it is.
-
So we can have faith to pray for this.
-
It's waiting for us in heaven. And you're not crazy to say I
-
believe I'm healed. Well, in heaven, I'm healed.
-
I know my reality right now, but I'm aligning with heaven's
-
reality. And you say, can we do that?
-
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in
-
heaven. Do you understand?
-
You're just saying I want heaven's reality in mine now.
-
Now you don't control the release date.
-
Some people make us feel guilty, like if you had faith, you'd get
-
it. Otherwise, you know, how about
-
me? I had given up.
-
How about the man at the pool of Bethesda?
-
He didn't even know who Jesus was.
-
So don't live under any condemnation.
-
Just realize we serve a loving God that releases miracles into
-
our now. Can I just share something with
-
you? When my kids were little, they
-
used to ask for ice cream. This way.
-
They go, dad, you're probably not going to do it.
-
And I go, what am I not going to do?
-
And they're like, well, you're probably not going to get us ice
-
cream. I said, don't ever come to me
-
and ask for ice cream like that ever again.
-
Do it like this. Hey, Dad, you're the best dad on
-
planet earth. Wouldn't today be a great day
-
for ice cream? How many know they got a lot
-
more ice cream that way? We go to God for a miracle.
-
We say, God, you're probably not going to do it.
-
Why don't we go to God? God, you're a loving God and a
-
Thai God. Wouldn't it be just like you?
-
They say wait, wait. Sometimes I'd say to the kids,
-
it's not the time for ice cream. It's 4:00.
-
Dinner's coming, trust me. Ice cream's coming.
-
Just trust me. I'm a loving dad.
-
Ice cream's coming after dinner. So we got to trust our loving
-
heavenly Father. He releases it at the right
-
time, but we're allowed to ask. So if faith is rising up in you
-
right now and you want me to pray with your prayer, maybe
-
you've prayed against the disease, the sickness, something
-
you didn't want to know in the name of, and you just want to
-
say, God, one more time, I want to pray for a miracle.
-
I want to join your faith in my faith.
-
Let's pray together. Raise your hand here at all the
-
campuses, East downtown Cape Coral.
-
Come on, raise your hand if you're believing, Lord, you see
-
these hands. We are believing for miracles.
-
We are believing for miracles. Lord, forgive our just giving
-
up. Lord, I just said you're kind
-
God and loving God, but you are a powerful God.
-
And so God, I pray that you would still do miracles.
-
You would do breakthroughs, things that they've been waiting
-
for. I pray with them, their 100th
-
prayer, their thousandth prayer. I pray Lord Jesus and come to
-
agreement they're one day closer to their miracle and today would
-
be a great day for a miracle to be released.
-
Lord, we trust you. We trust you with the timing,
-
but we will not stop asking for what is waiting for us in heaven
-
to be released into our now. And when it does, we will give
-
you all the praise and all the glory and all the honor because
-
you are a powerful God and it's your name, Jesus, that we lift
-
up and pray in. Amen, Amen, Amen.
-
Come on, let's thank God for what he has done, what he will
-
do. Thank you so much.
-
Appreciate that. That was awesome.
-
I said if you keep going, I'll go to the altar call right now.
-
We're here to talk about generosity and I want to read
-
the Scripture, 2nd Corinthians 9/11.
-
Apostle Paul says you'll be enriched in every way so that so
-
that you can be generous on every occasion and through US,
-
your generosity will result in Thanksgiving to God.
-
I want to talk to you about living out your so that you've
-
been enriched in all these ways so that you can be generous.
-
Now you say, well, I, I don't feel rich.
-
I didn't say you had to be rich. I said you could be generous.
-
I've seen rich people that are not generous and I've seen poor
-
people that are like take the shirt off their back, give it to
-
you. There's something about this
-
living out the so that, and I want to let you know that where
-
we live, it makes this verse really apply to us.
-
In the Bible, we have been enriched.
-
Where we live right now, we have been enriched.
-
If you make $50,000 in America, 50,000, you're one of the
-
richest 1% on planet Earth. Now we compare to millionaires
-
and billionaires, but 50,000 means you're the richest 1% on
-
planet Earth. We better get this right to live
-
out the so that and so I want to talk to you about a few things
-
that we've taught to our church and combat a couple lies that
-
keep us from living out the so that to be generous.
-
Now, the first thing we teach at our church is generosity starts
-
with understanding. Like we're going to start with
-
tithing. And I love that your church does
-
that. Tithing has come under a lot of
-
attack. That's giving your first 10th to
-
the work of the Lord saying God, I honor you and you're my God
-
and I'm on mission with you. I live differently and I honor
-
you with this. OK, people say like, well,
-
that's law. Well, it's in the law, but you
-
know what? It predates the law, it predates
-
the law. Abraham before there was law,
-
there was relationship and Abraham tithe.
-
Little bit later we see Jacob and Jacob says, God, if you Get
-
Me Out of this mess, you will be my God.
-
And what will I do? I'll tithe.
-
I'll tithe 10% of everything. So I look at that and say a
-
heart touched by God wants the tithe way before there was ever
-
lost. So we start there at our church
-
and we say, if you're not doing that, start there and watch what
-
God does. And I love that you're in this
-
series, but then when it comes to living out the so that you're
-
like, how am I going to live this out?
-
How am I going to do this? I want to tell you one of the
-
most important things to do for your Kingdom builders and you're
-
over and above this to live out the so that is to give your very
-
first gift, your first gift. Some of you watch Kingdom
-
builders and you watch these offerings that are received and
-
you're like, oh, that's for other people.
-
That's for them. That's not for me.
-
We're barely getting, we're just going to do the tithe.
-
We're we're barely getting by. We're not going to do that.
-
That's for other people. And sometimes you're in a
-
service like this and you feel a little tinge of like, you know
-
what? I want to do something.
-
I want to, I want to, I want to step out and do that.
-
And then you know what the enemy does.
-
The first lie that he says to us is your gift won't matter.
-
Your gift won't matter. Just just keep it.
-
Don't worry. It it's so interesting to say
-
it's it's only $50, you're going to get $50.
-
Don't give it. That's so long, so little.
-
You know what, just go to bass pro shops and spend it there.
-
It's better over there at Bass Pro Shops.
-
The enemy says to the other person that's like, oh, I'm
-
going to give $500 and the enemy says don't, don't do that.
-
That gift won't matter, $500 what?
-
Just go, go to Dick's Sporting Goods and buy that new driver
-
that that'll be best. Don't.
-
It won't make a difference for the church.
-
Isn't it interesting the enemy wants to stop you from giving
-
your first gift? I had a guy come up to me after
-
church. True story.
-
He said I was going to give today, but I don't know it was
-
only $5000 like that would make a difference.
-
I was like that, that would that would help.
-
That would that would work, that would that would really move the
-
needle. You know it, it is interesting.
-
Same lie, different amounts, same lie.
-
The enemy knows that generosity is so powerful as a weapon to
-
build the Kingdom of God and to do this that he doesn't even
-
want you to get started. Now, Matthew 621 gives us a
-
little insight into this. It says for where your treasure
-
is, there your heart will be. So where you put your treasure
-
and where you put your money, your heart follows it.
-
And so when you start giving money to Kingdom builders, you
-
say, I'm going to live out the so that I'm going to change the
-
world. This church has vision and I
-
want to do this. You start living out the so that
-
and you put a little money there.
-
Then you're like, Hey, how's it going with the new campus?
-
Hey, how's the expansion coming? How's the land thing coming?
-
Because your money is going there and so your heart follows
-
behind it. And So what the enemy wants you
-
to do, the enemy says, don't give it.
-
Keep living selfish, keep going, don't go that way.
-
Keep spending it on yourself. Don't worry about that's for
-
other people, not for you. And he doesn't want you to
-
change your direction because the first gift changes the
-
direction. Now I had a bill collector come
-
up to me after church. I was preaching this years ago.
-
He goes, that's so true. I said, what do you mean?
-
It's so true. He goes, I collect money for
-
bills. I collect bills and I'll call
-
people and they might owe us $10,000.
-
And he goes and they're walking away from their debt.
-
And I call them and they answer and I say, can you pay off your
-
debt? I can't do it.
-
Can you pay me $20? And he's $20 like 20.
-
That's that will make a difference.
-
And he said just send us $20. And as soon as I get them to
-
send $20, you know what I've done?
-
I've turned their direction and now they're facing towards their
-
debt. All $20 did is change the
-
direction they were living their life.
-
So the enemy knows if I can keep you from giving $5.50 dollars,
-
5, whatever it is, I just want to keep you in that direction.
-
And the Bible tells us where your treasures there, your heart
-
will. That's why it's so important.
-
Can I just tell you as you do your Kingdom builders year after
-
year, as you expand, as I've heard the vision that your
-
pastors have, the vision is gigantic.
-
And so as soon as you can get one gift in, it changes your
-
direction on this. And then God's like now you're
-
on the generosity journey. Now you're living out to so
-
that. All right.
-
So I just want to speak to somebody.
-
You've never done it before. This is the time to do it.
-
This is the time to get in. There's something happening in
-
your church and you're going to go to the next level, as people
-
say, for the very first time. We're in, We're in, and our
-
little added up with everybody else's little is going to add up
-
to a lot. And we're going to move
-
mountains. And then here's the thing that
-
we've taught our church. So first lie is won't matter.
-
Then there's a tool that we've taught our church and it's in
-
the book along with different teachings like giving is a
-
muscle. Who's your source?
-
But this is a teaching that we've done at our church.
-
Like now that I'm on this journey with Kingdom builders
-
over and above living out the so that give me some practical ways
-
to live out the so that generosity and it's planned
-
vision dream. That's what we've done at our
-
church. Planned vision dream.
-
Here's where I learned that I was in Kenya with this couple,
-
Clive and Mary. Go ahead and put them on the
-
screen. Clive and Mary are here.
-
They could be in your church. They're just a older couple.
-
They were in Kenya and they started an orphanage.
-
And I said, this is amazing. You got multi site orphanage all
-
across Kenya. How did this start?
-
They said we saw the need of the orphans and we said, God, what
-
can we do? And so we just said, well,
-
you've already put this money into our hands.
-
We're just going to work a plan and buy a little house and start
-
an orphanage in the house. I said it just started with a
-
little plan. That's it, I said, But then how
-
did it go bigger? Because they have this whole
-
complex in Nairobi. They said one day we're doing an
-
adoption ceremony and this guy says, Clyde, that's my best
-
friend and you just gave him and his wife a little baby boy.
-
I wish there was a way I could say thank you to you for doing
-
that. Goes, Do you have a vision of
-
what you want your orphanage to be?
-
And he goes, I do. Clive goes in and lays the
-
blueprints down. He goes right over there.
-
I want a boys dorm right there. I want a girls dorm right there.
-
I want a baby building. And the guy goes, Clive, I'm
-
going to build this for you for free.
-
I mean, I'm like Clive, That's how it happened.
-
He goes, yeah, it goes. He goes, it's even better.
-
He goes, he wasn't even a Christian.
-
He was a Buddhist. A Buddhist guy built his vision
-
for free. Can you imagine that?
-
Only God. Only God, I said, but wait,
-
Clive, you're multi site all across Kenya now you have
-
orphanages all over. Like how that happened.
-
He goes, same guy came back three years later and said,
-
Clive, are you a dreamer? Do you have a dream in your
-
heart? And Clive said, I do.
-
He said, I've been praying for these three cities.
-
I want to do multi site orphanage across Kenya.
-
And the guy goes, Clive, you're never going to believe this.
-
I own buildings in those three cities and my company is leaving
-
Kenya. We're going to give them to you
-
for free. Imagine that all from planned
-
vision dream. This guy has multi site.
-
And by the way, one of the orphanages in in in in Nairobi
-
is on the road where all the consulates are, all the
-
ambassador like embassies are right there.
-
And then there's the orphans right in the middle of it.
-
Only God could put, you know, orphans right next to
-
ambassadors, you know? Yeah, incredible.
-
And as I'm leaving there, wow, that's pretty cool.
-
Plan, vision, dream. I felt God say that's how you
-
should teach people to live out the so that they can be
-
generous. Plan, vision, dream.
-
So it starts with this a plan. What?
-
What's your plan to give? What is God already placed in
-
your hands? Just like Clive and Mary, a lot
-
of us say, oh, I want to do this way out here.
-
God's like, no, what have I put in your hands already?
-
Plan, vision, dream. So the plan is Psalm 20, verse
-
4. May He give you the desires of
-
your heart and make all your plans succeed.
-
He's already put resources in your hands.
-
All you have to do is decide how much you'll give over and above
-
your tide to keep blessing the Kingdom of God $50.00 a month
-
$100 a month 505,000. I don't know what God's put in
-
your hands already, but you just worked the plan.
-
But you don't stop there. Then you have a vision.
-
A vision, Habakkuk Tutu. And the Lord answered me.
-
Write the vision down. Make it plain on tablets so he
-
may run Who reads it? Write down a vision amount every
-
year. God, here's what I'm going to
-
do. Because you've already kept me
-
alive and you put it in my hands.
-
But I believe there's more in your hands and I'm going to
-
write it down. And if you put that amount into
-
my hands, I'm going to give it towards the work.
-
It's called a faith promise. It's just living what Hebrews 11
-
talks about. Without faith, it's impossible
-
to please him. So you're just believing God.
-
You, you have more in your hands than I have in my hands.
-
And so I'm going to trust you to put it in mine.
-
And when you do, I want to live out the so that I, I, I live in
-
such a generous place and such a wealthy place, I'm going to try
-
to live out this. So that, and then the third one
-
is to have a dream. Have a dream of what's the
-
greatest gift you could ever give to God.
-
See, you simply work the plan and you write the vision down.
-
I tell everybody, hold on to the dream.
-
Just hold it. Don't tell anybody.
-
Like when I see people sharing dreams too early in their life,
-
like I see their brothers getting jealous, throwing you in
-
a pit, selling me into slavery. Some of you know that story
-
about Joseph. So just hold the dream.
-
Hold the dream. All right, hold it, hold it, all
-
right, hold it. And you just hold on to it and
-
see God, could you let me ever give that amount of money?
-
Wouldn't it be incredible if I could do that?
-
And you say, can can we do that as Christians?
-
How come the world gets to do it?
-
Think about all the athletes when they signed the big
-
contract, they've been dreaming of the day they and they signed
-
that contract. And then they say it's always
-
been a dream of mine to buy my mom and dad a house.
-
And the day I'm buying them, how come they get to live like that?
-
But I can't live like that for Jesus.
-
And so everyone in our church just is working the plan,
-
writing the vision down, saying God, we're going to write it
-
down. We're going to pray for it.
-
And then we're going to have that dream.
-
You're going to do like Ephesians talks about,
-
immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine.
-
And we're just going to hold on to that dream and see what
-
happens. Now, let me give you some
-
practical ways that this works in our life.
-
Park is a young man in our church, 14 years old.
-
He's an youth group. Here's this message.
-
And so he goes, I like this. I think God has more in his
-
hands than I have in mind. And he says to his mom and dad,
-
I'm going to give $500 this year.
-
God's going to put $500 in my hands.
-
And they're like, Park, you have $50.00 in your dresser drawer.
-
And, and the dad said this on the way out of church, he said
-
to his wife, looks like we're going to write a check at the
-
end of the year so Park can reach his goal.
-
That's what he said at the end of the year, Park didn't give
-
$500, Park gave $1200. And his mom and dad sent me a
-
text. They said forgive our lack of
-
faith. Our little boy had more faith
-
that God had more in his hands than we did.
-
And here we are. So it worked for Park, another
-
family in our church, young married couple.
-
You know, again, remember, this is for everybody.
-
This is not for rich people. It's for generous people.
-
During COVID, they, they had their bills just like everybody
-
else. But he kept his job and so he
-
got the stimulus check. So he got the stimulus check and
-
he said, you know what? I kept my job.
-
Why do we give that to Kingdom builders?
-
So each year they're given the stimulus checks right over to
-
Kingdom builders. Like this is awesome.
-
Each year we pray planned vision dream as a church and they
-
prayed and they're in church and he says, honey, I, I think God's
-
got a bigger number for us this year and the stimulus checks are
-
over. I don't know how this is going
-
to happen. She goes, I have a big number
-
too. He goes, what is your number?
-
She goes $7500. He goes, that's exactly my
-
number. So they write it down like God,
-
we're believing for $7500, it's in your hands, put it in ours.
-
OK, This is Sunday. On Friday, she looks at their
-
bank account. There's $7500 from his company
-
in their account. She calls them up.
-
She goes, honey, there's $7500 just deposited today.
-
She goes, go talk to your boss. He goes in there and he goes,
-
hey, there's like some money in my bank.
-
If it's a mistake, can I keep it?
-
You know, like he's like, what happened?
-
And the boss said, you know what?
-
I came in on Monday and I just felt so guilty.
-
We've done so well during COVID and we haven't done bonuses.
-
So I told our CFO, get everyone a bonus check by Friday.
-
How many know? You can pray on Sunday?
-
Your boss can feel guilty on Monday and the check can be
-
there Friday. How many know?
-
So you're like, not my boss, not my boss.
-
OK. Prayer and fasting for your
-
boss. Sorry, prayer and fasting.
-
All right, And please, some. I know.
-
Here's what happens. Some of you right now like that
-
happens. OK, Wait, wait, wait, wait.
-
The God we serve when his disciples need to pay their
-
taxes, he said go catch a fish. And in that fish, there's going
-
to be a gold coin. The God we serve fed millions of
-
people every day. Mana came out of the ground
-
every day. Do we believe that or not?
-
The God we serve took a little boy's lunch and fed thousands of
-
people. He can make a boss feel guilty
-
on Monday in my own life, my wife and I we've lived this up.
-
We want to lead the way. So we're like playing vision
-
dream Lord we're just going to work the plan you love it
-
desires of our OK but we have a vision and six years ago God
-
said go up $10,000 this year you're going to give 10,000 more
-
to Kingdom builders than last year.
-
OK Lord where's the money It's in your hands.
-
We start to pray. Two weeks later, I get a phone
-
call and this guy says, hey, we'd like to know if you'd like
-
to join our board. And I was like, no, I'm not a
-
lot of boards. I'm so busy, I don't have time.
-
You know, he goes, well, that's too bad.
-
We got your name from, you know, my brother-in-law.
-
He said, you're pastor the loves missions.
-
We give away money on this board and and each board member gets
-
$10,000 to give to their favorite charity.
-
And I said, does Kingdom Builders count as my favorite
-
charity? And they said, Oh yeah.
-
I said, when's the board meeting?
-
You know, here's a board in Indiana.
-
I live in Minnesota. I've never met this guy.
-
I've met his brother-in-law. They call me and say we want you
-
to join us. How many know the money was in
-
God's hands and I just needed to have faith to believe God that
-
he would do this. He puts it in my hands.
-
I bring back the $10,000 check. And by the way, the board that I
-
joined, it was a group in Indiana, a couple guys at
-
breakfast that said we want to start a business just to give
-
money to missions. That's all they did.
-
They started a business and when I joined the board six years
-
ago, they gave away 890,000. This last year, we gave away $4
-
million from that. Yeah, yeah.
-
Oh, and it gets better. They said every board member now
-
gets 50,000 to bring back. I brought back a check for
-
50,000 to Kingdom Builders from a prayer I prayed 6 years ago.
-
It's in his hands. That's the God we serve.
-
I mean you, when you think about when the Israelites left Egypt,
-
it says that the Egyptians threw money at them when they were
-
leaving. Like take our money, take our
-
gold. If you put that in a movie, you
-
wouldn't believe it. That's the God we serve.
-
All right, one more because there are some business owners
-
here and I want to speak to you for just a minute and then we're
-
going to address 1 more lie that attacks us.
-
OK, couple in our church, business owners.
-
OK, they're they hear plan vision dream.
-
I'll tell you they sent me their giving report from years ago
-
when they joined our church. The first year they joined our
-
church, they gave 70,000 to Kingdom builders.
-
They'd never heard planned vision dream.
-
And he looks at his wife. He said, honey, let's go on this
-
journey. Let's do this because we could
-
give a quarter million because let's just do what God put in
-
our hands. So they start doing it.
-
They start praying for their vision.
-
Their vision was a half a million, 18 months later, their
-
company is exploding and growth. They're giving half $1,000,000,
-
eighteen months after that. So three years on the journey, 3
-
years. He calls me up and says pastor,
-
your wife and my wife and I, we all need to go to dinner.
-
So we go to dinner and he says it's our joy today.
-
He said we thought this would take 10 to 15 years to get to
-
our dream number. We thought it would, but we're
-
here today to give our dream gift, and it's $1,000,000.
-
And as he's doing that, they're crying.
-
My wife and I, we're all crying. And this is what I really did
-
say this. I go, what's your new dream?
-
That's what I said. And he goes, I'm not supposed to
-
tell you. I'm supposed to keep it secret.
-
And I said, I'll pray for you. I'll cheer you on.
-
And he said, I want to do it every year for the rest of my
-
life. And then I said, I pray you live
-
to be 100. And at the time, he was 39 years
-
old, and he and his wife have done it every year since.
-
Matter of fact, the tagline on my book, Giving Meaning to Your
-
Money came from him, he said. You've given meaning to our
-
money. Planned vision, dream from Park
-
as a high schooler to a business owner and everybody in between.
-
We can live this way, we can live this adventure, we can make
-
a difference and live out the so that being some of the richest
-
people on planet Earth. But there's one lie that attacks
-
the backside of this that I want to address.
-
The first lie is your gift won't matter.
-
This lie here is just in case. Maybe we shouldn't give so much
-
just in case. I know God whispered something
-
to me to do this year and it felt like a stretch.
-
But now that I get closer to giving that large amount or
-
following through with it just in case the economy changes, I
-
should hold Just in case my retirement portfolio doesn't go
-
all the way. Like I just in case I live to
-
100. Just in case you get see what
-
I'm saying? It's not unique to us.
-
It's all over the Bible. Abraham was promised you're
-
going to have a son. He said my wife is old.
-
Like, I don't know how that's going to happen.
-
I'm old. So he says, God, just just in
-
case you can't have a son through us, here's my servant
-
Eliezar. He could be my son.
-
God's like, no, don't want him. OK, God, just in case Sarah and
-
I can't have a baby, here's Hagar.
-
We'll have a baby here. Isn't that interesting?
-
It's all over the Bible. Children of Israel when they
-
were told manna, it's going to come up every day and you just
-
take enough for one day. That's all you need.
-
Don't take any just in case God doesn't show up tomorrow,
-
because he's going to show up. And if you take any extra, you
-
know what's going to happen to it.
-
It's going to turn to rot and it's going to turn to worms.
-
And the Bible tells us that some of the people took a little
-
extra just in case God didn't come through for him and it
-
turned to rot and the maggots. It's all over the Bible and it's
-
an attack that the enemy says. So I want to speak to anybody
-
right now that feels a whisper of a gift that's bigger than you
-
thought. That feels like God's prompting
-
you to do something. You need to break that lie of
-
Justin Case off of you in Jesus name.
-
Jesus is your source. He knows what he's doing.
-
His promises are true and I know this.
-
In 2020, God told my wife and I, you will give your dream goal,
-
you will do it. You've been praying for over 10
-
years for this dream goal, you will give it.
-
And that year I'm telling you, royalties came in, inheritance
-
money, unexpected blessing, and we are sitting with the largest
-
amount of money ever in our life.
-
A dream goal to give to God was right there and it's the end of
-
the year And I said, wow, just in case you think we should hold
-
like Covid's still going on. It's not over and there's been a
-
change in the presidency and I don't know, just in case.
-
So we went to bed that night. We couldn't sleep, couldn't
-
sleep. Woke up the next morning, my
-
wife said we can't believe the lie of just in case.
-
And we Dave it and we shared that with our church, very
-
vulnerable and transparent that we almost believed the lie of
-
just in case and held back something God told us to do.
-
And when we share that with our church, it broke the lie of just
-
in case off of our church. And our giving was 6.6 million
-
for Kingdom builders. Now it's 12.5.
-
We're the exact same size church, exact same size church
-
as 2019. But something supernatural has
-
broken off. And some of you need that broken
-
off in Jesus name. You have enough resources.
-
You have enough. God's your source.
-
He will never let you down. If he can make manna grow every
-
day, He can take care of you. He can take care of you.
-
The Bible says he knows the number of hairs on your head.
-
He doesn't see a Sparrow fall without noticing it.
-
He can take care of you. So Lord, I pray right now for
-
next level. I pray that they would live this
-
out. They're going to the next level.
-
The dream, the vision in this church is so big, they want to
-
reach the Southwest Florida. So God, we just pray in Jesus
-
name that people would break Amen.
