  1. Below Crossing Church. How are you doing today?

  2. It is a good day to be in the house of the Lord and it's a

  3. good day to be with the people of the Lord.

  4. Look at this crowd. Look around.

  5. I hope that that's happening at all of our locations.

  6. Today, we're so thankful that each and every one of you are

  7. joining us at those locations, if you're inside her online.

  8. We're so thankful for each and every one of you as well.

  9. And for those of you have 48, I mean, you're you're in,

  10. Saturated ground right now. There were 800 men, this past

  11. weekend, part of uncommon and God was doing business.

  12. I mean it was stuff was going on and it was really, really good

  13. stuff. And I have to tell you of all of

  14. The Uncommon men's conferences, I've been to hear this one

  15. particularly at least for me. And some of the circles that I

  16. was in relationships, I was in talking, there was some I'm

  17. serious spiritual warfare going on and it wasn't just with just

  18. the guys that were attending it was with the leaders.

  19. It was with people that have been entrusted you know with the

  20. care. And the love of others that

  21. they're just, they're just in the battle and make no mistake.

  22. There's a battle going on, and we need to know how to fight

  23. those battles and how to win those battles.

  24. And I have to tell you that even That battle is very real.

  25. God is always had always has been, and always will be more

  26. powerful. And that's what we want to

  27. concentrate on today. We're in the third week of weeds

  28. in my garden. We had an introduction week and

  29. then three weeks and I spoke to you a couple of weeks ago.

  30. And if you might, if you were here a couple of weeks ago, I

  31. introduced the sermon with the fact that Allison and I I went

  32. to go visit friends in Post Falls Idaho which is just right

  33. across the Idaho border from Washington Spokane, Washington,

  34. they're they're good, friends of ours.

  35. As a matter of fact, Jim Putman. He's been here a few times and

  36. with with some of his leaders and shared with us a lot on

  37. discipleship and so we've done a lot together.

  38. Just trying to iron sharpens, iron encouraging each other and

  39. I was in the car with They were driving us around to the various

  40. locations, and I was asking him, like, what's the sermon series

  41. that you've done recently? That you really felt had was

  42. impactful and they told me about a series, they had done called

  43. Irreplaceable and as we were talking in the car, there were

  44. some things that became apparent.

  45. First of all, the the series Irreplaceable was born out of a

  46. response to this epidemic of suicide that they were

  47. Experiencing in their community and surrounding area and

  48. particularly with regards to teens and and of course that's

  49. not just part of that area that's happening all across our

  50. country but what really impacted me is as they were sharing, it

  51. was very personal to them. I mean Lori was in a car, she

  52. was crying and she was sharing some of the stuff that that they

  53. had deal with it. You could tell that that hit it.

  54. Only affected her personally and as she shared what she said was

  55. that she had attempted suicide as a teen herself, the pastor's

  56. wife there. And, and I've gotten to know her

  57. because her maiden name is Harris and found out that she's

  58. actually my cousin. Didn't know that and the reason

  59. I'm telling you, that is this, have you ever noticed in your

  60. life that when somebody, you know, throws out a label?

  61. Maybe it has. It's a label for a particular

  62. kind of mental illness, you can just kind of like label that.

  63. I mean, some people, even use those labels kind of flippantly

  64. and they'll use it, you know, maybe even a derogatory term.

  65. But when something happens in your family to When you

  66. experienced it personally and and and your kind of immersed

  67. into that, it changes your entire opinion, doesn't it?

  68. And so just hearing that from Lori, it really affected me.

  69. It changed my opinion and I mean, it became more personal to

  70. me. And they did it when they did

  71. this series, they actually videotaped her sharing her story

  72. and I asked her if we could share her story with all of you.

  73. So, I want you to watch this video.

  74. She shares her story We all have our Brokenness in our issues and

  75. our things and the more we can be open and honest and real with

  76. people, the more they can feel like they can be open and real

  77. and honest. The biggest lie for me was that

  78. but I wouldn't be missed that. I wasn't important anymore that

  79. it didn't, I didn't matter at the same time I just I had a

  80. serious boyfriend and he broke up with me for another girl at

  81. the time. And so that kind of Spun my

  82. world out. I had a really, really close

  83. best friend at the time, she started dating a guy who was

  84. they were really serious. So she kind of dropped out of my

  85. life. So I felt really alone.

  86. No one would miss me. They would be able to be fine

  87. without me. I just didn't want to live

  88. anymore. Then I, I just didn't want to go

  89. on. I chose to take my life when I

  90. was in high school. When I was going through those

  91. hard times, I was really struggling the most just because

  92. I wasn't being real with myself and with others.

  93. I was trying to hide my had a pretty shallow relationship with

  94. with Jesus. It wasn't till much later that I

  95. grew my relationship with Jesus that I started to kind of figure

  96. out. The church's role helped me in

  97. my life. The church's role is to create

  98. an environment where people can build relationships and through

  99. your relationships, is when you can be real and open and honest

  100. with people, so that you can bring the heavy hard things out.

  101. When things come Lies, don't go away, Satan attacks, you with

  102. your weaknesses. He tries to come after me all

  103. the time with that same lie and now I know where it comes from

  104. and I can battle it through prayer and talking about it with

  105. other people and they can battle it with no through prayer.

  106. Write out your life and work through it with someone, whether

  107. it be a counselor or a friend or a pastor people don't judge you

  108. like I thought they would I think about me being able to

  109. have a family, my kids, my grandkids being in Ministry and

  110. God using my story, but it's been the hardest thing about

  111. talking about this moving forward is.

  112. I am valuable and I am My life matters.

  113. God gave me a second chance and so I'm thankful for Second

  114. Chances, not everybody gets to have that.

  115. Horse that videos, very personally, impactful for me,

  116. but I think probably the thing that that really comes out of

  117. that, that rises to the surface, at least in me, is just how

  118. ruthless Satan is. She makes no bones about it.

  119. That, that voice whispering in her ear was not just her inner

  120. voice. If there was something going on

  121. there were lies that she was believing lies that were being

  122. created and she was believing and Satan is a liar and he

  123. speaks to us in those in those quiet Whispers, And he just so

  124. ruthless. You see, he wasn't just trying

  125. to destroy Lori at that vulnerable time in her life as a

  126. team, he was trying to destroy the marriage that she was going

  127. to have later on. To an impactful, Pastor she

  128. would he was trying to destroy those children that she was

  129. going to have. He was trying to destroy the

  130. grandchildren that she was going to have in those pictures that

  131. you saw. He was to try trying to destroy

  132. all of that and who knows how many impactful relationships

  133. that they have had. where God is taken ground, that Satan was

  134. trying to eliminate You know, I Was preparing to preach this

  135. sermon. I can hear Satan lying to me.

  136. I could hear him. You don't have any business.

  137. Preaching this what do you know about this?

  138. You don't understand. You just, you just need to stop.

  139. You need to phone it in. He was lying to me.

  140. And I had to recognize what I was hearing who I was hearing,

  141. and I had to call that out so that I could prepare what I'm

  142. going to share with all of you today.

  143. And here's what I want to say, it is time to go to war.

  144. It is time to go to war. Look at 2nd Corinthians.

  145. Chapter 10, verses 4 and 5. The weapons.

  146. We fight with are not the weapons of this world.

  147. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish

  148. strongholds. You got a stronghold in your

  149. life right now. We demolish arguments, is there

  150. a voice in your head? Is there an argument in your

  151. head right now? We demolish arguments and every

  152. pretension, is there a pretension in your mind that

  153. sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take

  154. captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ.

  155. So together. Today I want to ask you for

  156. something, I want you To join with me and I want us to

  157. demolish these strongholds of Satan.

  158. These pretensions of Satan and I want us to do it with what God

  159. tells us to do it with. And that is the truth.

  160. And the truth is found in God's word.

  161. So I want us to pick up our weapon.

  162. We do have one, it's called The Sword of the spirit.

  163. The Bible defines the sword of the spirit as the word of God

  164. and I want us together to fight this liar.

  165. Are you willing to do that with me today?

  166. All right, so I'm going to start this battle in the most unlikely

  167. place. And that's First Corinthians

    1 Corinthians 13 chapter mention

  168. chapter 13. Now, most of us have heard First

    1 Corinthians 13 chapter mention

  169. Corinthians chapter 13. Not because we're Bible

  170. students, not because we have the Bible memorized or or, you

  171. know, for any one of those other reasons.

  172. It's because most of us have attended a wedding.

  173. And if you've attended a wedding, you've heard these

  174. words. If I speak in the tongues of men

  175. and angels and have not love, I am but a resounding gong.

  176. Have you heard this? Yeah, it's a beautiful

  177. description of love. It's actually a definition of

  178. perfect love. But what I did after having that

  179. little conversation with god and the devil, well I was working on

  180. this sermon is is God impressed on my mind.

  181. First John, where John defines God saying, that people that

  182. don't love. Don't know, God.

  183. And then, he says this for God is love.

  184. How many of you heard that before that God is love actually

  185. there? Is something in the scripture

  186. that actually defines God as love.

  187. So if there's a definition of Love In First Corinthians 13, it

  188. is also a definition of God. Right.

  189. So I want us to use this scripture that you're familiar

  190. with today, to help us to understand, actually how to do

  191. battle with the devil. And then we're going to go to a

  192. bunch of other scriptures because listen, it's not about

  193. what I have got to say. It's whatever the Bible says if

  194. you're going to fight in this battle, you have to know what to

  195. fight with. Okay, so here's why I set up

  196. these chairs. How many of you've ever watch

  197. cartoons? Have you ever seen the cartoons,

  198. where the person's they're in there trying to make a decision

  199. and there's the little devil guy and then there's the little

  200. angel guy and they're both like talking to you and supposed to

  201. like inner voice only. It's really not in her voice you

  202. know, kind of some of us kind of made know that now that's what I

  203. want. These two chairs to represent,

  204. this is the devil chair. This is the devil chair.

  205. You know, there's a spot that where for some reason or another

  206. he gets in our heads and we hear him, okay?

  207. And then this is the god chair. This is the god chair.

  208. This is where he speaks to us. he speaks to us through his word

  209. and I want to show you The difference between what that

  210. voice says in your head that you shouldn't be listening to and

  211. what God has said, ready? And some of you are going to

  212. relate to this because you're going to my I heard that exact

  213. thing. Satan says got a sick and tired

  214. of you. You are constantly whining and

  215. complaining and failing. How could he not be tired of

  216. you? First Corinthians 13.

  217. God, defined as love. I'm patient.

  218. Truth. He's patient with you.

  219. Satan, he lies to you and he goes, God is bringing you this

  220. in your life because of the mess you've made, you discussed him.

  221. This is God's punishment on you. I'm kind.

  222. I'm patient and I'm kind. God's a killjoy.

  223. All he wants to do is take away your fun and take away your

  224. freedom. He doesn't want you to be happy.

  225. That's just not God at all. I don't envy.

  226. Who can be like God anyway? Seriously, he is so much better

  227. than you. You don't deserve him.

  228. I don't boast. God, he's ashamed of you.

  229. You never ever. Stop making him look bad.

  230. I'm not proud. You deserve, whatever, you get,

  231. you made your bed now. Just lie in that bit.

  232. I don't dishonor others. Just think about how you have

  233. wasted, all of those important moments of your life, the

  234. opportunities that you had that you miss, what a failure you

  235. are. I'm not self-seeking.

  236. How could God feel anything, but anger towards you?

  237. He never ever gets a break from your stupid choices.

  238. I'm not easily angered. Come on, get real.

  239. There's just too much in your life to be forgiven for

  240. forgiveness, is for people who are better than you.

  241. I keep no record of wrongs. You know what God is looking for

  242. an opportunity to judge you someday, you're going to pay for

  243. what you've done. I don't Delight in evil.

  244. I rejoice in the truth. God.

  245. You've abandoned me. I always protect.

  246. You're suspicious of me. I always trust.

  247. You've given up on me. I always hope.

  248. You're tired of me, aren't you? God?

  249. I always persevere. You have failed me.

  250. I never fail. Those are the lies that you've

  251. been hearing. Those are the lies.

  252. I hear. Those are the lives.

  253. We all here. Because that's what we are.

  254. We're human beings, and we're Sinners.

  255. And that boat is sinking and you don't have a big enough bucket

  256. to bail it out. but God does God, does I want you to know

  257. some specifics from God's word about his love for you.

  258. And here's the first one God's love for you is personal.

  259. It isn't like, oh God loves it, the whole world.

  260. And so kind of a general sense, you know, he kind of loves

  261. Humanity, know, God loves you, it's personal.

  262. Look at first, John, 3:1 see what great love.

  263. The father has As and I love this word everybody say this

  264. word lavished, say it again. Oh yeah, this is like when you

  265. order steak and you order everything that you can order on

  266. it on it right. That's lavished that we should

  267. be called the children of God and that is what we are not like

  268. some of, you know, that is what we are.

  269. The reason the world does not know us, is that it did not know

  270. him. It's personal because God

  271. considers you, his child. Look at Ephesians 1:5, he

    Ephesians 1:5

  272. predestined us for adoption. To sonship and daughter ship

  273. through Christ Jesus in accordance with his pleasure.

  274. And we'll look at this word right here.

  275. He didn't do that because he felt obligated to I made him.

  276. So I guess, I gotta know he loves it.

  277. He loves the fact that he can call you his child God's love

  278. for you is personal. He is adopted you into his

  279. family. Look at John 3:16 for God.

    John 3:16

  280. On this little word is the one most powerful words in the New

  281. Testament. God so loved he didn't just love

  282. he. So loved the world that he gave

  283. his one and only son that whoever believes in him, shall

  284. not perish but have eternal life.

  285. This is the measure of God's love for you.

  286. That is your worth. In the eyes of almighty God,

  287. that he would not spare his own son, it's personal.

  288. Second thing about God's love is it is powerful enough to get you

  289. through your pain. We all have pain sometimes, it's

  290. incredible pain. Overwhelming pain.

  291. But God can get you through your pain.

  292. Look at David's words in Psalm 31.

  293. He says I will be glad and rejoice in your love for you saw

  294. my affliction And you knew the anguish of my soul.

  295. He will love you through the suffering.

  296. He will love you through the pain.

  297. Look at Lamentations 3:22-23 to I will remember them and my soul

    Lamentations 3:22–23

  298. is downcast within me, some of you right now that would

  299. describe you, my soul is downcast within me.

  300. Yet this I call to mind and therefore, I have hope because

  301. of the Lord's. Great love.

  302. We are not consumed for his compassion's never fail.

  303. That scripture goes on to say there are new every morning.

  304. Great is your faithfulness. When I feel hopeless and

  305. helpless, God still loves me. And he loves you and it's new

  306. every day. Never gets old and it never

  307. wears out. Here's the third thing about

  308. God's love. He loves you and me just as we

  309. are Look at Romans 5:8, it says, but God demonstrates his own

    Romans 5:8

  310. love for us in this while we were still sinners Christ died

  311. for us, he is loving you. Even while you're sinning in the

  312. process of sinning, he's loving you.

  313. Look at Ephesians 2 4 and 5 but because of his great love for

  314. us, God who is rich in Mercy. Made us alive even when we were

  315. dead. In transgressions, It Is by

  316. Grace. You have been saved when I feel

  317. dead and ruined inside his love can break through that.

  318. Here's the next one. God loves you enough and he

  319. loves me enough not to allow us to stay the way we are.

  320. Look at 2nd Corinthians 5:14 and 15 for Christ's love.

  321. Compels us. He's he's compelling us because

  322. we're convinced that one died for all, therefore, all died.

  323. And he died for all that those who live should no longer live

  324. for themselves. But for him who died for them

  325. and was raised again, God's love will direct you out of your old

  326. life and he will direct you into your new life.

  327. Look at Romans 5:5. And hope does not put us to

    Romans 5:5

  328. shame because God's love has been poured out into our hearts

  329. through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

  330. God gives us exactly what we need to feel loved and then to

  331. be loving to other people. God's love will not abandon you.

  332. This is something else about his love.

  333. It won't abandon you. Look at first, John 4:18.

    John 4:18

  334. There's no fear in love, we're fear, we have fear about

  335. abandonment. There's no fear in love, but

  336. perfect. Love drives out fear because

  337. fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made

  338. perfect in love. God can take your fear away,

  339. look at Romans 8:35 and then 37 to 39, who shall separate us

    Romans 8:35

  340. from the love. Of Christ shall trouble or

  341. hardship or persecution or famine, or nakedness or danger

  342. or sword. No, in all these things we are

  343. more than conquerors through him who loved us, not because of our

  344. love. But through his love, right for,

  345. I am convinced that neither death, nor life nor angels nor

  346. demons, neither the present, nor the future, nor any powers

  347. neither height, nor depth nor anything else in all creation.

  348. Ation. Will be able to separate us from

  349. the love of God. That is in Christ.

  350. Jesus, our lord, God's love and you are inseparable.

  351. Look at Psalm 5, 11 and 12, but let all who take refuge in you

  352. be, glad let them ever sing for Joy spread your protection over

  353. them that those who love your name.

  354. May rejoice in you. Surely Lord.

  355. You bless the righteous and you surround them with your favor as

  356. a shield. God's love is a shield.

  357. It will protect you and it will keep you safe.

  358. God's love was never intended, though.

  359. To just come to us. It was designed to move through

  360. us to other people. You were never meant to be a

  361. reservoir. You're meant to be a river, and

  362. there's a mighty River of God's love that flows through you to

  363. touch other people, John 13:34, a new command.

    John 13:34

  364. I give you love one another as I have loved you so you must love

  365. one another. It flows through you, it

  366. empowers, you to love others. Look at first John 4:19, Well,

    1 John 4:19

  367. this is how God showed his love Among Us.

  368. He sent his one and only son into the world that we might

  369. live through him. This is love not that.

  370. We loved God. You don't, you don't create

  371. this, but that he loved us, and sent his son as an atoning

  372. sacrifice for our sins, our love for each other.

  373. Is strengthened because we love God.

  374. And then that in turn, strengthens our ability to love

  375. God. So like God's love comes to us.

  376. Goes through us. We're able to love others.

  377. As we love others. We learn how to love God more.

  378. It just keeps rolling. This love Today.

  379. I want you to accept the truth about who God is and I just

  380. scratched the surface of the passages in the Bible about his

  381. love. I want you to accept that truth

  382. because Satan is trying to take you out.

  383. He's trying to destroy you and it is the truth that dispels.

  384. The lies and dispels the Darkness Accept who you are in

  385. his sight, just like that song. You were taught when you were a

  386. little kid, your precious in His sight.

  387. Precious to him. I want you to know that there is

  388. an enemy out there and he wants to destroy you.

  389. But Jesus has defeated that enemy and you've got to accept

  390. the fact that that enemy is defeated has, how did he do it?

  391. He did it by coming down here and becoming one of us, he was

  392. tempted in every way we were tempted.

  393. He never gave into it. And when he died on that cross

  394. and shed his blood, it was enough to cover all of our sin,

  395. and all of our shame, and all of our guilt, and all of our

  396. punishment it was enough, and that's why he said on that

  397. cross. It is paid in full It has been

  398. paid in full. He paid your debt and set you

  399. free. And when he rose from the dead,

  400. he did that to prove to you that he has power over life and death

  401. and no matter what fears you might have about your future.

  402. He is more powerful than death. He can raise you to life and now

  403. Satan is defeated, all he has left is lies.

  404. And he lies to us and I'm telling you don't listen to him.

  405. You are loved. Beyond your ability to take it

  406. in beyond your ability to measure it.

  407. You listen to God, you're loved, and I'm asking, you run to him,

  408. run to him. Today, we're moving to a time of

  409. decision. so I'm standing here, I'm standing here and and And we

  410. opened the CERN up with idea of suicide and suicide.

  411. Those lies that come into your head have to do with, I want to

  412. run away. Right?

  413. I want to run away. I don't want to deal with this

  414. anymore. I don't want them have to have

  415. to feel this way anymore. I don't want to hurt like this

  416. anymore, I want to run away from that.

  417. This is how I can run away from that.

  418. And it isn't just that it isn't just, it isn't just that thing

  419. that we're talking about. I mean, every kind of

  420. challenging circumstances and difficulty in life.

  421. There's something inside of us, this fight or flight, you know,

  422. and we want to run away from it, right?

  423. So, I'm standing here. How many directions can I run

  424. away right now? I actually can run away from the

  425. spot that I'm standing in an infinite number of different

  426. directions. And the real problem is, which

  427. direction is the right direction?

  428. Haven't you experienced in your life that you try to run away

  429. from something and then you end up in a spot that was even worse

  430. than the one that you ran away from and you go how I get here?

  431. And then I mean you have to win the lottery.

  432. I mean you got this infinite number of directions to run away

  433. and how do I know which one to run away from?

  434. That's another lie. That's Satan's lie.

  435. Running away, is a lie. It is not about running away.

  436. It's about running toward, there's an old hymn, we don't

  437. sing anymore. It's called the heavenly vision.

  438. And the chorus of that old hymn goes like this.

  439. Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus look full in his wonderful face and

  440. the things of Earth. Will grow strangely dim in the

  441. light of his glory and grace and that is the answer.

  442. The answer is not about running away.

  443. The answer is about running toward because when you run

  444. toward Jesus, listen to me, you're always running in the

  445. right direction. Some of you here today.

  446. And you have never come into an intimate personal relationship

  447. with Jesus Christ. You watch 19, people do that on

  448. the screen from last week. That's what God does, that's

  449. what God's in the business of doing.

  450. And it's incredible to be able to join with him and watch him

  451. and be able to participate. Invites us to join him in that.

  452. Some of you don't have that intimate personal relationship

  453. with Jesus Christ right now. Have you been saying things

  454. like? Well, you know, my family have a

  455. Christian family, I can't go to church.

  456. I am trying to do the right thing.

  457. I'm trying to live the right way.

  458. I don't want to be a hypocrite because, you know which, you

  459. know, how do you stop that? Because we all are When are you

  460. going to just run to Jesus? There's going to be somebody

  461. right over there by that baptistry, ready to talk with,

  462. you ready to pray with you and maybe you can be one of those

  463. stories that we see on the screen next week.

  464. Somebody who said I Surrender Lord, here's my life.

  465. All my in consistencies all my Brokenness all my hypocrisy.

  466. I'm gonna do this, terrible Lord, but I'm going to do it,

  467. he's like, that's all right, I'm right here with you.

  468. I won't leave you. I won't forsake you you come to

  469. Christ today right over there. Some of you here today, you've

  470. been Christians a long time and you know what you're struggling

  471. right now because you're going. Yeah, I remember.

  472. I mean, can't I remember I was hot for the Lord became a

  473. Christian and, but boy, I'm struggling right now.

  474. I'm pretty confused right now. Listen, I get it.

  475. Every time I sin and I send plenty.

  476. And so do you every time I send everything starts getting

  477. confusing. Because I start letting that

  478. voice talked. I mean, that that's that's like

  479. the fertile ground, for that voice to talk to you and try to

  480. tell you lies about who you are, and whose you are and what you

  481. deserve and all of that stuff. I just mentioned.

  482. Right. Here's a time where you call

  483. Satan Al, are you want to go to war?

  484. You want to go to war? I'll tell you where war begins.

  485. When it's a spiritual war. Begins on your knees.

  486. It begins on your knees. When you say, I don't know what

  487. to do. You know why?

  488. Because he's standing right behind you.

  489. And when you get on your knees, he'll just step right over you

  490. and he'll be in front of you, and he said, anybody wants him,

  491. anybody wants her, you're coming through me and you're not

  492. getting through me. So I invite you To let Jesus

  493. Christ. Be your Champion today in the

  494. situation that you're dealing with, maybe it's not you.

  495. Maybe it's somebody in your family.

  496. You've been praying, you've been, you've been crying out to

  497. God. Well don't stop.

  498. Don't give up. You never know when that moment

  499. of breakthroughs going to happen.

  500. And I encourage you to storm the Gates of Heaven today and pray

  501. like hell and heaven depend on it.

  502. For the person that you love. Some of you are going to see the

  503. steps, fill up your and go. There's no room.

  504. There's plenty of room. Let's go three, deep.

  505. Let's go to war. Let's win this.

  506. Battle, would you stand with me heavenly father in Jesus name?

  507. I pray that you will fight a battle that we could never fight

  508. and win on our own, but we can fight it and win it because you

  509. have already fought it and you have already won it and that's

  510. why Romans can declare that we're more than conquerors

  511. father. Help us to trust in your Victory

  512. today. As we seek you.

  513. Break Down the Walls. I pray in Jesus name.

  514. Amen.
