  1. Crossing family. Are you good man?

  2. I hope so. I am so excited to be with you

  3. guys this weekend. We have an incredible thing

  4. playing for you. I told you at the very beginning

  5. of this sermon series that at the, towards the end of it, we

  6. are going to bring in one of our dear friends, to talk to you

  7. guys for two weeks and whether you're joining here at 48th

  8. Street, one of our different locations or online.

  9. I am so excited to have to have dr.

  10. Wes Beavis with us this weekend, fun fact through our partnership

  11. with the Salomon Foundation during the pandemic, we had a

  12. met with pastors all across the country every single Tuesday.

  13. And the first thing that the salmon Foundation did, is they

  14. put dr. Wes on retainer to help pastors

  15. and navigate the stresses of leading through a challenging

  16. season and he meets with pastors all across the country and helps

  17. them try. To navigate the weeds in the

  18. garden. In fact, here at the Crossing

  19. we've spent, we've sent between 10 and 15% of our own staff to

  20. go and get some help. Because even when your super

  21. spiritual, you could still have some weeds in your garden.

  22. And so Crossing family, I cannot wait for you to be blessed this

  23. weekend and next weekend. So, would you please give a warm

  24. Crossing Welcome to our friend, dr.

  25. Wes Beavis. Thank you so much. it is so good

  26. to be at the Crossing, Well, not only am IA doctor of Clinical

  27. Psychology but I have been for decades a pasta and I love to

  28. stand at the Nexus of faith and Science and especially now

  29. because we live in a culture which says that if you're a

  30. Christian, you are anti science and particularly for the young

  31. people in the house, I want you to know that is an absolute lie.

  32. Christians make great scientists and tonight I want to bring a

  33. message to you. That is going to incorporate

  34. some scientific research but it's also going to go to reveal

  35. just how wonderful God has made you and you are going to be

  36. encouraged and you're going to be encouraged to pull even

  37. closer to Jesus knowing just how good he has made you by

  38. scripture reading. Tonight comes from Psalm 139.

  39. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

  40. Let me stop right there, fearfully.

  41. You know, sometimes we get the impression.

  42. Just reading that word at face value that, that God is in

  43. heaven going. Oh, my goodness.

  44. I hope this works out. I'm kind of scared of this one.

  45. Clayton Hensel. You know, I disappoint like you

  46. to a little bit risky, this one. No, that's not what the Bible is

  47. talking about. Fearfully the way the Bible

  48. defines it is made with reverence and or now being an

  49. Australian we say or just like that.

  50. So on the count of three, I want you to say or in Australian, all

  51. right? So God has made us with

  52. reverence and one, two, three are you are awesome yourself.

  53. Your works, are wonderful. I know that full well I want to

  54. tell you a story of something that happened to a friend of my

  55. wife Ellie and myself, her name is an yella and Anne and her

  56. friend Debbie Nichols on this one day in Southern California.

  57. Whiting Ranch, they're Avid mountain bikers, they decided to

  58. go for a mountain bike ride and as an was relaying her

  59. experience to me. She said I was ahead, Of Debbie,

  60. by some distance. And as I came down this hill, I

  61. startled. Something and I noticed

  62. something reddish brownish in my peripheral vision, and I thought

  63. I had startled a deer. But she said, moments later, I

  64. realized this was no dear. It was a mountain lion and It

  65. pounced on Me, Knocking me so hard off my bike.

  66. It grabbed me by the left side of my face and started dragging

  67. me down into a Ravine. And in that moment, I was in the

  68. fight for my life. Debi Nicholls came just Nano

  69. seconds. After she saw what?

  70. It was happening and she went down into the Ravine and grabbed

  71. ands ankle. And started pulling her up the

  72. Ravine. Now these girls were you know

  73. very fit girls like girls you know, I would say around 115

  74. pounds and this mountain lion was weigh in excess of that.

  75. So here's Debi Nicholls pulling and up yelling at the top of her

  76. lungs and I am not going to let you die.

  77. I'm not gonna let you die. And she's pulling and up by her

  78. ankle pulling both and and the mountain lion.

  79. My question is how How does a 115-pound woman able to do that?

  80. Well, I'll tell you why. Because in that moment, God

  81. released something that he has designed within us called a

  82. hormone called adrenaline. And what adrenaline done is is

  83. is shocks our, our muscles into action and Then followed by

  84. adrenaline is a hormone called cortisol that is known as the

  85. stress hormone and that is released by our adrenal glands

  86. into our System to help to help us harness, our energy and stay

  87. focused very much on the task at hand and so it can give us what

  88. seems Supernatural strength. But it happens that way because

  89. that's the way God has designed us because we are fearfully and

  90. Wonderfully made and so something happened in that

  91. moment as Debbie's trying to drag this this mountain lion and

  92. her friend and up the ribbing. And it was a hopelessly lopsided

  93. battle. But the mountain lion was

  94. winning. But then the mountain lion

  95. backed itself into a tree at the very same time that some other

  96. mountain bikers came along. So what is happening and started

  97. picking up rocks, and throwing and screaming to startle the

  98. mountain lion. It released its grip.

  99. In the only reason, That Anne was not instantly killed was

  100. when she fell off that bike, her helmet skewed off her head.

  101. Protecting her neck. And so the mountain lion was

  102. trying to to get a purchase on her neck to snap her neck, but

  103. the helmet was stopping it from doing so and eventually the

  104. mountain lion released its grip. Somebody called 911.

  105. There was a emergency helicopter that came in a medical flight

  106. and then there was Medics and paramedics and and fireman and

  107. an said I noticed one thing before I black down I looked at

  108. the paramedics hand trying to put an intravenous needle in my

  109. arm and his hand was shaking so much because the mountain lion

  110. was About 15 feet away waiting for another opportunity.

  111. And then she blacked out, they were able to survive that

  112. because God put within them, something that God has put

  113. within us some hormones, some brain chemicals that help us to

  114. perform under strenuous circumstances.

  115. I always have to put this slide in here because I forget to give

  116. the back of the story and survived.

  117. That's my wife, Ellie to the right of an she went on to

  118. recover. She had countless surgeries, and

  119. she's an amazing. Believer in Jesus and she has

  120. gone on to tell her story a myriad of times.

  121. And so just want to let you know and is alive and well and she

  122. lived to tell, praise God. Okay, so let me tell you, let me

  123. take some, take you on a little bit of scientific Journey.

  124. I'm not gonna drag you into the weeds, then there are our

  125. adrenal glands its place on top of our kidneys which is right in

  126. the middle of our back and our adrenal glands went under when

  127. When we are under stress, our adrenal glands, release

  128. chemicals that fuel certain functions, and that is to help

  129. us focus. And so what it does is it turns

  130. sugar and fat into energy, it also improves the ability of

  131. your body and brain to use that energy.

  132. And all this happens in nanoseconds, why?

  133. Because we are fearfully and Wonderfully made, what cortisol

  134. also does, is it suppresses some biological functions that are

  135. less important during stress? Some of those biological

  136. functions are digestion. Now you know if guys if we're

  137. out there being chased by a bear we're not thinking well I'm kind

  138. of hungry right now. You should have eaten that

  139. sandwich, all all the energy is taken from our digestive system

  140. at and redeployed where it's needed the most.

  141. Another section about lives. Our anatomy that shuts down in

  142. that moment is our reproductive system.

  143. And so it's probably one of the only times in the life of a In

  144. Godly married, man. That when not, and even some

  145. adolescent boys that we're not thinking about sex. but, Sex is

  146. okay that's the way God wired us and particularly men.

  147. There's a few wives in the house are going honey.

  148. Maybe we need to get a pet bear. But there's, there's another,

  149. there's another chemical that our adrenal glands secrete

  150. called dehydroepiandrosterone. Let's everybody see that in the

  151. count of three, one, two, three, see Hydro EPI and roster own,

  152. and that's why they call it DHEA for short.

  153. And dehydroepiandrosterone is a neuro neuro, steroid hormone

  154. that helps your brain to grow. And it helps us to grow in

  155. response to stressful situations.

  156. So we're talking about mental health and so depression,

  157. anxiety, and a myriad of other psychological.

  158. Dilemmas that we met challenges that we might face.

  159. Could be all under the umbrella of stress.

  160. And so dehydroepiandrosterone has been put in Us by God to

  161. perform a certain function to help our brains to grow.

  162. Now I'm going to ask Cory Cory. Come on up here because I want

  163. to get your help here. Cory.

  164. I I have I've noticed your physique, these guns.

  165. Were you born with these? Come on, man.

  166. I'm they were just there just formed David Von telling you.

  167. I'm a bitch. This is what you've got going on

  168. there. How do you get those?

  169. Lots of hard work in the gym. Lots of hard work.

  170. Lots. So let me tell me get this

  171. straight. I mean, is it fun being in the

  172. gym kind of working your muscles like that?

  173. I mean, depends on the day. All right, depends on the work

  174. out alright but mostly no. That's right because it actually

  175. feels much better the sitting on the couch eating some Doritos

  176. followed by some Ben and Jerry's ice cream, right?

  177. Right cereal. But yes, yes, yes, cereal would

  178. be better. But yes.

  179. Yeah, there we go. So so you're in the gym and

  180. you're working your muscles. You're working these guns and

  181. you know, like those guns just kind of naturally form because

  182. you go into the gym or you know, is it something that you subject

  183. your muscles to that? Make them like that?

  184. Yes. So there is a lot a lot of hard

  185. work that goes in the gym. All right.

  186. And I there's a lot of Stories on there but Overexerted myself

  187. because of particular workout because I wanted to this

  188. physique, doesn't just happen by accident and we can film and

  189. it's just study can hear it. That's a testimony.

  190. Ladies and gentlemen it just said you think that's my wife.

  191. So so I've heard That the day after really strenuous workout,

  192. when you've just been pumping a lot of iron that the next day.

  193. Your muscles are hurting. Yep.

  194. Why is that? Well, I can tell you what, it

  195. feels like it feels like there's just some muscles just ripping

  196. apart, that's what I feel like right now, I work it out a

  197. couple days ago. Two days later is always the

  198. worst day right now. It feels like my muscles are

  199. currently ripping, right? And that's because they, when

  200. you're in the gym, you actually did.

  201. Your muscles to the point where you call his little rips, little

  202. micro tears and your muscle. Yeah, yeah.

  203. I would assume you're the doctor, you tell me about tell

  204. you, that's, that's what happens.

  205. You put your muscles under stress, it creates little micro

  206. tears, and then then afterwards, your there's a hormone in your

  207. body called testosterone which helps rebuild your muscles and

  208. you end up with guns like that until you never thought that

  209. Jesus would be able to use. Use those in to demonstrate and

  210. a spiritual issue but you could tell it was hard finding a guy

  211. to do this. That they brought a guy like me

  212. to stay true that diesel. You are you are a red brick.

  213. I think it's time for you to go Thank Corey.

  214. You're a good sport. So just as testosterone helps

  215. your muscles to repair, after you've put the muscles under

  216. stress, dehydroepiandrosterone causes your brain to repair, and

  217. not only that causes neurogenesis, that means the

  218. formation of new brain cells. So stress, In response in

  219. response to stress dehydroepiandrosterone can be

  220. released into your system and it can cause new brain cells to

  221. grow sea for a long time. There was this belief that the

  222. amount of brain cells that you're born with, that's all you

  223. got and you spent your life time basically burning those brain

  224. cells out. But what we've discovered

  225. because we are fearfully and wonderfully me.

  226. God is releasing this dehydroepiandrosterone in

  227. response to the way we respond to stress all the time.

  228. So in the week, leading up, to the time that Jesus calls us

  229. home, we can be experiencing new Brain cells being generated in

  230. our bodies. It's quite exciting.

  231. I tell you I so which is better. So we've got two chemicals here.

  232. Both release excreted from the adrenal glands, cortisol and

  233. DHEA. Well you know, we're probably

  234. thinking, well, you know, dehydroepiandrosterone, I want

  235. more bread. Neither a better.

  236. They are purpose-driven chemicals.

  237. They are specific for whatever you're facing.

  238. So if you're being chased by a licensed by it bear or or being

  239. attacked by a Life Lion, then cortisol is what you want in

  240. your system. What scientific research has

  241. discovered is. It's the ratio that's important.

  242. Higher ratio of cortisol is associated.

  243. So if you're, if you've got a lot of cortisol running through

  244. your system, and not much dehydroepiandrosterone that is

  245. associated with harm to your immune function, and it's also

  246. been associated with depression. Now, this is the interesting

  247. thing. We've just been through a global

  248. Panic pandemic, and I know that there's a section of society

  249. that, you know, is is vested and keeping that going and what was

  250. happening during that. I'm we were fearful and there

  251. was a lot of there was a lot of media activity pumping us with

  252. with fearful data and this is where, you know, they were just

  253. following the science folks, they're not following the

  254. science. If they were following the

  255. complete science, they would realize.

  256. The more they are pumping Society with fear the more that

  257. the immune system is being suppressed.

  258. The more that we become The more that pathogens out there, can

  259. invade our bodies and make us sick.

  260. My son is a medical doctor, and he said dead.

  261. These are called opportunistic. Pathogens.

  262. That's what when our immune system because we've got

  263. pathogens all around us all the time.

  264. And our immune system generally, when it's high, it fights them

  265. off all the time, but when our immune system is depressed, then

  266. we become more susceptible. Able to catch whatever is going

  267. around. So if you're high in cortisol

  268. and low in dehydroepiandrosterone, then

  269. your immune function is somewhat compromised, and you're also can

  270. be predisposed to depression. Now, if you flip that, and you

  271. have high dehydroepiandrosterone and low cortisol, that has been

  272. associated with reduced anxiety, reduce depression, reduced heart

  273. disease, and reduced brain cell deterioration, Duration.

  274. So what we want, most of the time is to have our system set

  275. up where we are high in dehydroepiandrosterone and low

  276. in cortisol. Now, there are specific times

  277. where that needs to be flipped when we when our lives are under

  278. threat in very, very unusual circumstances.

  279. But for the majority of time, this is where God wants us to be

  280. high and dehydroepiandrosterone low in cortisol and they That

  281. the growth index and who do I mean by they call that this

  282. research comes out of Stanford University led by dr.

  283. Kelly McGonigal PhD who has a great research team and they

  284. have termed. When you've got high

  285. dehydroepiandrosterone in your system and low cortisol, they

  286. call that the growth index. Why?

  287. Because when you're in that configuration, you've got

  288. greater persistence, you've got greater resilience you, you're

  289. able to perform at higher levels.

  290. You've got greater Focus Superior problem solving skills.

  291. It's like that's the configuration we want to be most

  292. of the time because we are going to be less susceptible to mental

  293. health struggles when we're in that configuration.

  294. So the question is and let's all ask this question together,

  295. shall we? How do you activate the growth

  296. index? And this is how change your

  297. view. About stressful events.

  298. Change your view about stressful events.

  299. Let me let me give you an example of that.

  300. There is a fear and worry view of the stressful event.

  301. And it can be vocalized in ways such as this.

  302. I can't handle this. This will do me in, I'm done.

  303. Another one is 0, this will be the death of me.

  304. And so when you speak those words over your life, what

  305. you're doing is you're flipping from being high

  306. dehydroepiandrosterone to high cortisol, you're reinforcing the

  307. object of your fear. Now, a growth oriented view of

  308. stressful events. Could be this.

  309. This looks like a setback. But God's going to use it to

  310. increase my resilience and I can guarantee you whatever stress

  311. you're facing. If you decide, you're going to

  312. view the stress that way. This looks like a setback and I

  313. wish this didn't happen. This is tough.

  314. But God's going to use it to increase my resilience, God's

  315. going to use it to help me become a better leader.

  316. God's going to use it to make me stronger.

  317. God's going to use this stressful situation in To cause

  318. dehydroepiandrosterone to flood through my system, which will

  319. stimulate the formation of new brain cells and then God's going

  320. to deploy those brain cells for his purpose.

  321. And that's sound good. Here's here's another way of a

  322. growth-oriented view of stressful events.

  323. I believe regardless of what I faced God is with me and he will

  324. bring good out of it. I believe regardless of what I

  325. faced God is with me and he will bring good out of it.

  326. Come on Church stand with me I Believe come on let's Stand

  327. Together. And that's a great practice run.

  328. Now, what kind of dig deep and we got to give it all the guests

  329. to. So on the count of three line by

  330. like, just speak it out, like you believe it.

  331. All right, one, two, three, I believe.

  332. Regardless of what I faced God is with me and he will bring

  333. good out of it again. I believe regardless of what I

  334. faced God is with me and he will bring good.

  335. Out of it, come on I believe regardless of what I faced God

  336. is with me and he will bring good out of it one more time I

  337. believe. Regardless of what I faced God

  338. is with me and he will bring good out of it.

  339. Did you hear? Did you feel anything?

  340. Did you feel anything in your body when you're speaking that

  341. out? You got goosebumps, that's your

  342. body chemistry changing, that's dehydroepiandrosterone being

  343. released into your system. That is called having a growth

  344. oriented view of stressful events as a result of speaking

  345. that out when we're facing stress, when we're experiencing

  346. depression and anxiety and whatever has got us in the

  347. wrapped around the axle in that moment when you speak these

  348. words out I believe regardless of what I faced God is with me.

  349. And he will bring good out of it and that's going to release

  350. chemicals in your body to be able to create new brain cells

  351. that God can deploy for his kingdom purposes.

  352. Just, doesn't that sound great? Awesome.

  353. Yeah. Go ahead, relax.

  354. You've been fantastic. So the great thing is the Bible

  355. is full of promises of God. Be strong and courageous, do not

  356. be afraid or terrified because of them for the Lord, your God

  357. goes with you. He will never leave you nor

  358. forsake you when you speak that over your life, whatever stress

  359. whatever depression. Whatever anxiety you may be

  360. experiencing, you are releasing the right chemicals.

  361. The way that God intended, the right ratio, lots of

  362. dehydroepiandrosterone and you're keeping it the cortisol

  363. at Bay, another passage do not Fear for I am with you do not be

  364. dismayed for I am. Your God.

  365. I will strengthen you and help you.

  366. I will uphold you with my righteous hand and we speak that

  367. over our lives. It helps us to keep the ratio

  368. right of that neuro steroid that God puts within us.

  369. And in that ratio, you will have greater capacity for persistence

  370. in your ministry. Leadership, regardless of what

  371. your face, knowing that God's going to bring good out of it.

  372. You'll be more resilient. And I, you know, I've got to say

  373. I think Christians can be the most resilient people on the

  374. planet because of of the the fact that we've got so many

  375. promises of God that helps us keep the ratio, right?

  376. And we can turn off the news because we can You know that is

  377. just going to suppress my immune system that is just going to

  378. throw wood on the fire of my worry.

  379. I'm just going to speak the promises of God of my life.

  380. You have greatest Focus Superior problem solving skills.

  381. It's much better to be in this orientation now.

  382. Does it mean the the other orientation with cortisol is

  383. high and dehydroepiandrosterone Angelo is the wrong?

  384. No. It's just wrong to be there all

  385. the time and we live in a culture that wants us to be

  386. there all the time. You know, the me Tia, I don't

  387. believe the media is necessary nefarious.

  388. I think they just business people, they just have picked up

  389. on the psychological psychological orientation of

  390. humans that we are attracted to to fearful events, unusual

  391. events novel events. So they're pumping out stuff all

  392. the time to keep us and and and here's the key, whenever you

  393. read a headline, you know, some dramatic headline if it's got

  394. the words may or could in it, that's Signal because this this

  395. met this depression could be the worst thing that we've ever

  396. gotten. This whatever could be.

  397. Maybe that's that's a site. Just turn it.

  398. Turn it. Turn the volume down.

  399. Turn the news off. You're not buying into that.

  400. And this is where I love the the intersection of God's word and

  401. scientific discovery. And before before I share this

  402. point, I'm just going to hydrate for a moment.

  403. Right. Do not be anxious about anything

  404. but in everything by prayer and petition with Thanksgiving,

  405. present your requests to God and the peace of God, which

  406. transcends all understanding will guard your hearts.

  407. And your minds in Christ, Jesus. now, for many, many years

  408. decades of my life, I looked at this and I interpreted through a

  409. metaphorical lens, it's like and the peace of God, which

  410. transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your

  411. minds, you know, your hearts, the core of your soul, your

  412. spirit, you know, the core of who you are, your hearts and

  413. your minds, your thinking process, he will guard your

  414. hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. and then I read the

  415. research that says when you have high dehydroepiandrosterone,

  416. When you get the ratio in the way that God intended, the ratio

  417. to be, most of the time, it is linked to reduced heart disease.

  418. And reduced brain cell deterioration.

  419. In fact, when you get this rate show the way God intended it to

  420. be, most of the time you stimulate the formation, the

  421. birth the beginning of new brain cells.

  422. And so I read that scripture differently.

  423. And I encourage you to read it differently to because it says

  424. in the peace of God, which transcends all understanding

  425. will literally God, your heart. People who have the ratio and

  426. the right way most of the time it's been linked to less heart

  427. disease reduced heart disease. And when you let the peace of

  428. God, which transcends all understanding, it will guard

  429. your minds. It will literally guard your

  430. brain, your cognitive processes. When you get the ratio around

  431. the right way, the got that God intended, most of the time.

  432. Then that will God. Your brain.

  433. And I'm telling you as we discover more about Alzheimer's

  434. and Dementia and Parkinson's, I don't know about you but I want

  435. my cognitive capacity to be guarded and God saying, you've

  436. got a part to play in all of this.

  437. Just make sure you keep the ratio.

  438. The way I intended most of the time and use my scripture, use

  439. my words to help you stay there. Be people of, I believe.

  440. Regardless of what I faced God is with me.

  441. And he will bring good out of it.

  442. I praise you. because I am fearfully and your works, are

  443. wonderful, and I know that full well We're moving in to a time

  444. of decision. You know, I did this on Thursday

  445. night, I want to do with you guys this morning.

  446. If you could just reach under your chairs, grab a piece of

  447. paper and the pin that's located there.

  448. There's a quit. I'm just kidding.

  449. There's not a quiz. You guys were reaching down your

  450. like I felt like when I was listening to the sermon There's

  451. some words thrown out there. There is some science thrown out

  452. there and it took me back to high school science class and I

  453. was like, is there a Scantron afterwards Maybe I'll do that

  454. for a second service and put a real quiz there, but listen.

  455. Each and every single one of you it if you don't catch anything,

  456. I hope you catch this that you are fearfully and wonderfully

  457. made that. You would also take the truth

  458. that you are God's Masterpiece. You are his workmanship created

  459. in Christ. Jesus to do good works which

  460. shows me and tells me that you were created on purpose As an

  461. individual, and for a purpose, all of you in here.

  462. And it talks about, we're going to be dealing with stressful

  463. events. Those things are going to

  464. happen. Some of you are in the thick of

  465. it right. Now you came in to church, And

  466. you have a life event happen or or something was thrown at you,

  467. or you're in a conflict right now.

  468. You're in a stressful event and one of the things, dr.

  469. West said, is, when you gotta change your perspective, you

  470. gotta change your way of thinking a little bit.

  471. Well, I would like you to consider this in this time of

  472. decision. Change your point of view.

  473. In order to do that, we need to go back to the beginning for

  474. some of us. So real quick, what I want to do

  475. in this moment is I want to talk to those of you who have started

  476. an intimate personal relationship with Jesus, you

  477. have declared that he is Lord and savior of your life, you've

  478. stepped over the line, you got in that water and you were

  479. washed your sins away and you're walking in a new life in Christ

  480. right now. Just just you real quick.

  481. I need you to go back to the beginning.

  482. Change your perspective, I want you to go back to that moment

  483. where it happens for some of you who is it was last week you made

  484. that decision for Jesus for the first time for for some of you

  485. it was a couple weeks ago or a couple months ago or last year

  486. or man it was right in the beginning of the pandemic.

  487. Maybe it's 20 years ago, I don't know what it was for you, but go

  488. back to that moment. Remember that moment?

  489. Remember when your heart was just so broken and you realize

  490. that you couldn't do it by yourself and that you needed a

  491. God, who can save you, who could rescue you, who could take your

  492. place, who took your place on the cross, maybe for you, you

  493. got on your knees and you pray to prayer.

  494. You ask God to take over your life, go back to the moment.

  495. You got in that water, whether it was here, maybe it was for

  496. me. It was down in our gymnasium.

  497. The it was up top through a window.

  498. We had our baptistry up there. I can go back to that moment.

  499. I can go back to walking out after youth group night at 17

  500. years old, declaring Jesus, Lord, and Savior, my life and

  501. going out in the parking lot. And just seeing all the stars in

  502. the sky was a last one to leave the parking lot and I've never

  503. felt closer to the Lord then that night on February 17 2006.

  504. It changed me because it went from a moment of trying to do

  505. life By myself to understanding that, I have a God who created

  506. me to be fearfully and I'm wonderfully made to know that I

  507. was his Masterpiece that he called me.

  508. His son. Are you there?

  509. Can you go back to your moment? In this time, wouldn't it when

  510. the music starts maybe for you, your response is just to come

  511. forward to get on your knees and just reflect and give God thinks

  512. that he's brought that perspective back to you that.

  513. Yes, life events are happening. Conflicts are happening, stress

  514. is happening. But go back to the beginning and

  515. say thank you, Jesus for rescuing me.

  516. Thank you for saving me and just worship him.

  517. For some of you can be on your knees, for some of you, it's

  518. going to be at your chairs and you Your hands and worship and

  519. you just declare thanks to God for the rest of you in this

  520. room, maybe you haven't. Had that moment yet.

  521. You can't go back to that moment because you've never stepped,

  522. over the line. You to be honest, you're still

  523. trying to do it on your own. And you're tough, you may be

  524. strong. You made me not be as fit as me,

  525. but you're strong. I'm telling you, you can't do it

  526. on your own. It's impossible.

  527. I'll just need to give you the end of the story.

  528. You can't do it on your own. You can't do it on your own

  529. strength. And so in this moment, maybe

  530. today this Sunday in September is the day that you come back to

  531. later in your life or your perspective changed where you

  532. realize that you're not alone that you are fearfully and

  533. wonderfully, made that you are his Masterpiece.

  534. Listen, created in Christ, Jesus.

  535. Today's the day you step over the line today's the day you get

  536. in that water and you say it's not me.

  537. I Lay My Life down and I come out of that grave.

  538. Just like Christ did because he rescued me on the cross, he paid

  539. the penalty of my sin and I can live in Freedom.

  540. I would ask that you would consider that in just a little

  541. bit when the music starts and you've never made that decision.

  542. But today you want to do that. Brett scharnhorst is going to be

  543. right there next to the baptistry today and he would

  544. love to talk talk with you. I'm going to be right up there

  545. next to him, because I think he's getting ready for a couple

  546. baptisms this morning. So if you're like, hey, I don't

  547. want to be alone. Listen, you won't be alone

  548. because there's baptisms happening this service.

  549. Where someone saying, today's my day, I go back to Church.

  550. I pray that we're always a group of people that come in here and

  551. we learn, we take new things in, but then we put it into action,

  552. we walk out in faith, we walk out, knowing that we are not

  553. alone. That Christ Jesus is with us.

  554. He's got plans for our life. Those considered as you stand

  555. your feet. Let's pray together.

  556. Heavenly Father God, I give you. Thanks and praise for the son of

  557. suffering. I give you.

  558. Thanks and praise and The name of Jesus Christ that because of

  559. him man are our weaknesses can be picked up, we can lean on

  560. Jesus, we can lean on him in these situations that were going

  561. through. Whether we just came out of a

  562. stressful event whether we're in one or whether ones coming, we

  563. know it's coming but God I pray that we can man just change our

  564. mind, change our perspective let us go back to that moment where

  565. you rescued us and you saved us. Maybe encourage us through that.

  566. Lord, I pray for those who are walking in their own strength.

  567. I pray got today that you would just impressing their hearts

  568. that you have fearfully and wonderfully, made them, you've

  569. created them and you and I pray Jesus, they have an experience

  570. where they just say enough's enough, not doing this on my own

  571. anymore, God that they would respond during this time in

  572. Jesus name, I pray, amen.
