  1. Why did the duck trip on the sidewalk?

  2. He tripped on a quack. How can you tell the difference

  3. between a dog and a tree by the bark dog.

  4. Dogs can't operate MRI. Can't.

  5. What did the car say to its tires?

  6. Thanks for keeping it wheel. He needs more water in his

  7. mouth. Feel like that counts.

  8. He just swallowed them. What kind of class?

  9. Why? How do you make holy water?

  10. You boil the hell out of it. A guy threw a gallon of milk on

  11. my head. How dare he?

  12. That was a stupid one. What kind of car would Jesus

  13. drive? A Chrysler?

  14. You can't swallow it. Thank you, champion.

  15. Thank you so much. Yeah, no sense of humor.

  16. Oh, crossing family recently in Dallas, TX, they opened up the

  17. husband's store. Women who were frustrated with

  18. online dating and blind dates just wanted a place where they

  19. could just cut to the chase, find a man and take him home.

  20. And so these girls got together. They drove down to Dallas, TX to

  21. the husband's store. They got there.

  22. The sign reads that there are six floors at this store and

  23. each floor has different kinds of men.

  24. But the only catch is once you leave a floor to go to an

  25. additional floor, you can never go back down.

  26. The ladies are so excited. They go inside, they see the the

  27. door, the sign on the door to 1st floor and it just says these

  28. men have jobs. Women were elated because they

  29. were tired of being with guys who lived in the house with

  30. their mom, played a bunch of video games and couldn't pay

  31. their own bills. They're like, these men have

  32. jobs, this will be great. They went in there, they looked

  33. around like, I want to know what's on floor #2.

  34. So they leave floor one, walk up the 16 stairs to floor #2 and

  35. the sign on the door reads, these men have jobs and a strong

  36. romantic streak. The ladies are like, finally,

  37. I'm going to have somebody who will rub my feet, tell me I'm

  38. beautiful, put flower petals all over the house.

  39. They're like, if this is floor two, I got to know what's on

  40. floor #3. So they leave floor #2.

  41. They walk up the 16 stairs, the door close behind them to floor

  42. #2. They find themselves at the door

  43. to floor #3 and it says these men have jobs.

  44. Jobs, a strong romantic streak, and they love kids.

  45. These ladies, they're going now this is going to be wonderful.

  46. They're looking around, they're like, this is great, but deep

  47. down inside they're going, I wonder what's on floor #4 so

  48. they go up to floor #4 these men have jobs.

  49. These men have a strong romantic streak, they love kids, and they

  50. enjoy helping around the house. Jehovah Jireh, this is

  51. wonderful. They're going, this is great.

  52. They're looking around, they're loving what they're seeing, but

  53. then they're going, I got to know what's on floor #5 So they

  54. let the door close behind them. On floor #4 They walk up the 16

  55. stairs to floor #5 the sign on the door reads.

  56. These men have jobs, a strong romantic streak, love kids,

  57. enjoy helping around the house, and are incredibly handsome.

  58. This is where we get the pastoral staff of the crossing

  59. is from floor #5 and they're looking around and the sign was

  60. not lying. These men were gorgeous and to

  61. think they have jobs, a strong romantic streak like helping

  62. around the house, and they love kids and these women were going

  63. if. This is what is on floor five.

  64. Can you imagine what is on floor number six?

  65. So they let the door close behind them on floor #5 They

  66. walked up the 16 steps to floor number six and the sign on the

  67. door reads. Your visitor 3,126,853 to this

  68. floor. There are no men on this floor.

  69. This floor exists to prove that women are impossible to please.

  70. Happy Father's Day. You're a survivor.

  71. In an effort to make sure that they didn't get any

  72. discrimination suits filed against them.

  73. The owners eventually opened up the wife store with the same

  74. rules. The guys went to floor #1.

  75. The sign on the door reads. These women like to cook.

  76. The sign on floor #2 says these women like to cook and have sex.

  77. There has never been a visitor to floor number 34.

  78. Five. Oh man.

  79. If you didn't like that joke, you're not going to like it

  80. here, because that's funny. That maybe is why there's a huge

  81. difference on consumer spending when it comes to Mother's Day

  82. and Father's Day. On Mother's Day, we spend $25

  83. billion to say thanks, and on Father's Day, $15 billion.

  84. There is a $10 billion gap. I.

  85. Want to welcome those of you joining at all of our locations,

  86. those of you watching online and inside, and those of you who are

  87. joining us for the first time or the first time in a long time.

  88. And my goal today is very simple, that every single one of

  89. us would take steps to grow in an intimate personal

  90. relationship with Jesus Christ. And one of the ways that you

  91. could grow, what you're going to hear more about later at the end

  92. of the service is if you are a man, one of the ways that you

  93. could grow is by going to our uncommon conference.

  94. It's going to be an opportunity for you to have fun, have some

  95. food, and to grow in your faith. And it might be a great gift for

  96. the man in your life to buy them a ticket to our men's conference

  97. this Father's Day. Now when it comes to men in

  98. God's desire. Men are not just critical to the

  99. creation of children, but in the spiritual development of those

  100. children. The reason I say that is because

  101. culture today continues to reduce the importance and the

  102. necessity of fathers. Of having a man in the home and

  103. at the same time counseling centers cannot be open fast

  104. enough to deal with the father wounds that so many people are

  105. navigating pastoral staff across the country are having to

  106. constantly help people create an.

  107. Appropriate view of their heavenly Father because of the

  108. baggage care are that caused by their earthly father.

  109. And looking into the future, there is a problem on the

  110. horizon because church attendance is between 60 and 70%

  111. women, which means that the church is doing a pretty decent

  112. job of reaching the women in their communities, but not so

  113. good of a job of reaching the men in their communities.

  114. Why does this matter? We've talked about this

  115. statistic before that when a kid comes to faith in Christ, 3.5%

  116. of the time the rest of the family follows.

  117. When a kid finds a relationship with Jesus, 3 1/2% of the time

  118. the rest of the family comes to faith.

  119. When a woman comes to Christ, this is wonderful news.

  120. It's 17%. That means that 17% of the time

  121. when a woman comes to faith, the rest of the family will follow.

  122. Why are men so critical to reaching our communities to

  123. accomplish in the Great Commission is because when a man

  124. comes to faith, 93% of the time the rest of the family will

  125. follow. Now ladies, this does not mean

  126. that you do not carry an important role in the home.

  127. I'm just telling you how what the statistics show.

  128. In fact, ladies, we've talked about this before as well, that

  129. while your husband is the one who primarily picks out the

  130. spiritual direction of the home, the mother is the one who

  131. develops the spiritual quality of the home.

  132. In fact, teenagers cite that the person that they're going to go

  133. to the most, learn from the most about spiritual matters is the

  134. mom. So men, you pick the spiritual

  135. direction. Ladies, you're responsible for

  136. the spiritual quality. Let me give a little devotional

  137. thought to those of you who are single.

  138. Who you pick to marry will determine the level of

  139. spirituality in your home. So ladies, if you find a guy,

  140. make sure you find a guy who loves Jesus because your family

  141. will 93% of the time follow his spiritual direction.

  142. Man, when you're getting ready to pick a someone to marry, your

  143. kids are going to most likely learn their faith from their

  144. mother. So make sure you pick somebody

  145. who has a great faith. I've seen this happen all too

  146. often. You have young people who love

  147. the Lord and then they start finding somebody else to love as

  148. well. And the person that they love

  149. doesn't necessarily love Jesus there, you know, she loves the

  150. Lord and all of a sudden she meets Ted.

  151. Ted doesn't love the Lord, but he has a tan and a metabolism.

  152. And so she's kind of like, this is wonderful.

  153. But just because something is wonderful doesn't mean you

  154. should take it home. Like some of you have ugly dogs

  155. that you love. And some of you are even cat

  156. owners. And it's OK to acknowledge that

  157. God made it and that's, you know, great.

  158. But just because God made it and it's great doesn't mean that you

  159. should marry it or bring it into your home.

  160. And what happens is you fall in love with somebody who hasn't

  161. given their heart to God. And then you find yourself in a

  162. spot that you didn't expect you'd be.

  163. And you find yourself navigating the challenges and the hurts of

  164. life. And you're going, where's God?

  165. And what I would tell you is God is where he always has been.

  166. He is in the business of blessing, obedience, and if you

  167. step outside of God's of being obedient to God, you cannot

  168. expect the blessings from God. Now, that is not to say that God

  169. is not redemptive in an area of your life where you've made

  170. mistakes or somebody else has made mistakes.

  171. God is constantly in the redemptive business.

  172. He loves to redeem sin, but what he loves more is blessing

  173. obedience. And the problem is, and we are

  174. part of the problem as a church is we love redemption stories,

  175. don't we? People fall off the tracks.

  176. People go all kinds of crazy. We're like, look at how awesome

  177. God's redemptive work is. And we highlight and we make

  178. little short videos about it. And we're all moved by it

  179. because God loves to redeem sin and we love watching God redeem

  180. sin. But what has happened is, is we

  181. have over elevated the redemptive arc of God and we

  182. have under elevated what happens when people are obedient to God

  183. and experiencing the blessings that come from that obedience.

  184. Parents, let me prove it to you. Which would you rather have

  185. happen? Your kids go off the deep end,

  186. make an absolute mess of their life, have to do all kinds of

  187. trauma and all kinds of rehab, and God redeems them and puts

  188. them back into a right relationship.

  189. Or your kids have an incredibly boring testimony because they

  190. got serious about God from a really young age, trusted God

  191. and not just with their faith, but they also made Him the Lord

  192. of their life and they were obedient to Him.

  193. And God put His blessings on your kids out of obedience.

  194. And their testimony was, I obeyed God in an early age and I

  195. never regretted it. Every parent would rather have

  196. this testimony than watching their kids go through the pain

  197. and the horror of the redemptive ark.

  198. God is good in both scenarios, and God does a wonderful job in

  199. both lanes. But if we could choose, I would

  200. tell you, avoid the heartache of the redemptive ark and just

  201. learn to experience and enjoy the blessings that come from

  202. obedience. Because one of the days you're

  203. going to find yourself in a relationship with somebody,

  204. you're going to find yourself in a marriage, you're going to find

  205. yourself in parenting. Situations and you are going to

  206. want to just live in the blessing that comes from

  207. obedience. Now, some of you are going by

  208. Clayton. My life is presently a wreck.

  209. My family is blown up. Things are not going the way

  210. they're supposed to be. So what am I supposed to do?

  211. I want you to know if you find yourself in a spot today that is

  212. not necessarily where you wanted to end up, you're in good

  213. company. In fact, if you were to go

  214. through scripture and try and find the family that you would

  215. want to be of, be a part of in Scripture, you'd be hard pressed

  216. to find one. It might be one of the hardest

  217. things to have a godly marriage and to raise a godly family.

  218. Why is this the case? Because you have a spiritual

  219. enemy when it comes to your home.

  220. Look what it says in John 1010. We talk about this all the time

  221. the thief this is Satan comes only to steal, kill and destroy

  222. I this is Jesus have come that they may have life and have it

  223. to the full. This is God going I want to

  224. bless your obedience. I want to redeem the sin but

  225. let's make no mistake about it. You have an enemy.

  226. You want a good marriage. Satan wants to destroy it.

  227. You want to heal the brokenness in your family.

  228. Satan wants it to to keep it from happening.

  229. You want to break generational curses.

  230. Satan wants to stop it in its tracks.

  231. Satan takes no days off. You want to come clean to your

  232. wife about something that you've been doing in your life.

  233. Satan wants to you to keep you from doing it, and the moment

  234. you try to make a move in the direction of God, Satan is there

  235. trying to kill that move of God in your life.

  236. You've come to church hundreds of times and you felt the the

  237. pull that you're supposed to make a response or supposed to

  238. make a decision. And from the moment you make the

  239. decision that you want to do it until you're actually getting

  240. around doing it, you never actually got around to doing it

  241. because Satan stole it from the path he came in and he

  242. intercepted the move that you were trying to make.

  243. You have a spiritual enemy and he takes no days off.

  244. For instance, fellas, you guys, you know, here in our part of

  245. the world, we love guns rights. And we have concealed carry

  246. permits. And we've got a gun in the truck

  247. that we forgot that we had in there.

  248. And we've got a gun behind the safe.

  249. And if someone breaks into our house, they got another thing

  250. coming. And when a guy comes and tries

  251. to date my daughter, I'll be cleaning my shotguns on the

  252. front porch. And we're super jazzed about it.

  253. But if you were to ask, like most people, they don't know

  254. somebody who's ever had anybody break into their house.

  255. What that means is, is that we are overqualified for an an

  256. event that will not occur for an enemy that will probably not

  257. show up. And we are under qualified for

  258. an enemy that is already in our home because you and I have a

  259. spiritual enemy who tries to steal, kill and destroy your

  260. marriage, your parenting, and the obedience that God wants you

  261. to experience. More important than whether or

  262. not is your house locked up is is your heart locked up.

  263. Take another step forward is you and I, we are under qualified to

  264. deal with the spiritual realities of this war.

  265. You and I have an enemy. And it's not just spiritual.

  266. There's other enemies too. And Satan knows just how

  267. powerful a God honoring family can be.

  268. Let me show you how fast he attacks it.

  269. And Genesis one, God creates man.

  270. In Genesis 2, he creates woman. And now we have a family in

  271. Genesis three. They sin.

  272. In Genesis 4, the oldest son kills the youngest son.

  273. Satan attacks that fast because he knows what how powerful a God

  274. honoring family can be. So he wages war against us.

  275. And it's not just a spiritual war that he wages against us.

  276. There is our fleshly war as well.

  277. Look at what it says in Romans Chapter 7.

    Romans 7 chapter mention

  278. I do not understand what I want to do.

  279. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate to do.

  280. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it

  281. out. For I do not do the good I want

  282. to do, but the evil I did not want to do.

  283. This I keep on doing so. I find this law at work.

  284. Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me.

  285. Some of you, you're at church last weekend and you go, OK,

  286. this weekend or this week, I'm not going to cuss.

  287. And sure enough, you scare cussed twice.

  288. And one of those scare cusses wasn't a scare cuss, it was a

  289. real cuss. And you haven't asked for

  290. forgiveness for it. You have the good that you're

  291. going. You know what?

  292. I'm not going to do this bad thing anymore.

  293. I want to do good and yet you did the opposite.

  294. So you this week, you're like this week, I'm not going to lose

  295. my anger. I'm not going to lose my cool.

  296. I'm not going to get all crazy in the house.

  297. And sure enough, that is exactly what you did.

  298. Sometimes we're going, this is the bad stuff.

  299. I don't want to do it and we end up doing all the bad stuff.

  300. And sometimes we're going, you know what, I'm going to do a

  301. good thing this week. I'm going to spend time on my

  302. word. I'm going to spend time doing

  303. the things of God and we never get around to doing the good.

  304. That we actually wanted to do. You and I have an enemy.

  305. Now, on top of that, we don't have a strategy for the

  306. spiritual enemy or for the enemy of our flesh.

  307. And so we are kind of accidentally going through life.

  308. When it comes to our marriage, we're accidentally marriaging.

  309. When it comes to our parenting, we're accidentally parenting.

  310. And I've never heard anybody talk about an accident as a good

  311. thing. Like, I got in an accident

  312. today. Oh, praise God.

  313. That sounds wonderful. Yeah, it was a real blessing.

  314. We're hoping to get for in another accident later today.

  315. Nobody ever says that when we hear an accident like, oh,

  316. that's so bad. I'm so sorry.

  317. But most of us are accidentally involved in our marriage,

  318. accidentally parenting, and then our kids turn out in a way that

  319. we didn't want them to turn out because we didn't accidentally

  320. parent them. And then you find people who

  321. have pretty decent kids and you're like, how did you get the

  322. pretty decent kids? Because we want to kind of run

  323. your play and they're like, we really don't know because they

  324. were accidentally parenting too. And then we just find ourselves

  325. going from one accident to another accident and constantly

  326. being in a position where God is having to redeem stuff and never

  327. actually operating in a place where God blesses.

  328. So how do you and I navigate this?

  329. We need a better strategy, we need a better blueprint and I

  330. think there is a great blueprint found in Ephesians chapter five.

  331. I think if you were to take the New Testament from from Matthew.

  332. All the way to Revelation and you were to like condense it

  333. that Ephesians chapter 5 has like all the tools, tips and

    Ephesians 5 chapter mention

  334. tricks for you and I to be the people that God created us to

  335. be. Let's take a look at it.

  336. Ephesians 5. Follow God's example.

  337. Therefore, as dearly loved children, most of us are

  338. struggling in our marriage and in our parenting because we are

  339. not following God's example. You can't follow God's example

  340. if you don't know what God's example is.

  341. And you wouldn't know what God's example is unless you're

  342. spending time in His Word, being obedient to His Spirit, and

  343. spending time with God's people. And so if you want to follow

  344. God's example, you need to put yourself in a position to see

  345. what God's example is and then have the courage and the

  346. strength to walk it out. Let's keep going and walk in the

  347. way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for

  348. us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

  349. Fellas, I want to give you a little.

  350. Pro tip here, you may have noticed that women really love

  351. Jesus. They're huge fans of him.

  352. And I would submit to you that the reason they're huge fans of

  353. Jesus is because he sacrificed for them and he serves them.

  354. And you might be going, you know, my wife, she's always

  355. spending time wanting to learn more about Jesus and she listens

  356. to whatever Jesus tells her to do.

  357. And I really, I kind of want that I'd kind of like her to,

  358. you know, listen to me every once in a while.

  359. And what I would tell you is you trying to get her to sacrifice

  360. for you and you trying to get her to serve you might not be

  361. the best strategy that what might work better is you loving

  362. your wife the way Christ loves us by serving and sacrificing.

  363. Tough question. When was the last time you

  364. served your spouse? When was the last time you

  365. sacrificed for your spouse? When was the last time you did

  366. something you hated because you loved her more?

  367. Let's keep going, verse 3. But among you, there must not be

  368. even on a hint of sexual immorality or any kind of

  369. impurity or of greed, because these are improper for God's

  370. holy people. This is not just for fellas

  371. based off stats. This is an issue for women too.

  372. Purity must be our priority. What you watch, what you log on

  373. to, who you follow on social media, there must not even be a

  374. hint of sexual impurity. Just so you guys know the.

  375. More you engage in fake sex, the more it will impact real sex.

  376. Studies show that people who abstain from any kind of sexual

  377. impurity and say, you know what, that's just not going to be us.

  378. Have a better, more healthy, more frequent sex life.

  379. So if you want to destroy the sex that you actually want to

  380. have with a real person, keep watching other people do what

  381. they do and they get paid to do those things.

  382. There is a better way. This is one of those areas where

  383. God's going, trust me, my way's the best way.

  384. Follow me and you'll experience greater blessing.

  385. There should not even be a hint of impurity in us.

  386. We should be above all of that. Second thing is greed must be

  387. defeated. As Americans, we are some of the

  388. wealthiest people in all of human history.

  389. We have houses for our clothes, walk in closets.

  390. We have houses for our cars, but we call them garages.

  391. We have houses for our house and then we have second houses.

  392. We have plenty and we will be like, I got to work so hard so

  393. that way I can get my kids all the stuff they need.

  394. Let me say this little side note.

  395. First off, Christian should be the very best workers.

  396. We should be so good at our jobs that secular institutions only

  397. want to hire us that they're like, listen, we're, we're, we

  398. got all these jobs open and we would, we just want a profile

  399. that we just want the Christians because these people don't just

  400. work for money. They don't just work for their

  401. boss. It's as if they're working unto

  402. the Lord. If you're going to get fired as

  403. a Christian from your job, it should be because they violated

  404. a spiritual principle, but it should not be because of bad

  405. customer service and poor work ethic.

  406. We should be the best. However, some of us are

  407. overworked and over committed, not because we are, you know,

  408. just serious about our faith, but because we just want to keep

  409. buying our stuffs our our kids stuff.

  410. And we did a survey here at our church and our kids told us that

  411. your our spiritual provision is more important than our material

  412. provision. Our kids actually said they

  413. would rather have time with their dad than a new iPad.

  414. They want you. Verse four.

  415. Nor should there be any obscenity, foolish talker

  416. course, joking, which are all out of place, but rather

  417. Thanksgiving. This is important for men to

  418. hear. Men, your words have power and

  419. what you say gives permission in your home and you can use your

  420. words to build your wife up or to tear down to build your

  421. family up or to tear them down. You can use your words to push

  422. people away from Jesus to tear down your reputation or you can

  423. use your words to point people to Jesus.

  424. Make sure you use your words to accomplish the things that Jesus

  425. would want you to accomplish. Let's keep going for of this you

  426. can be sure no immoral, impure or greedy person.

  427. Such a person is an idolatry has any inheritance in the Kingdom

  428. of Christ and of God. If you guys are running this

  429. plot. Say when you're doing these

  430. things, this is not OK for you, versus let's keep going.

  431. Let no one deceive you with empty words.

  432. For because of such things, God's wrath comes on those who

  433. are disobedient. God loves to bless obedience,

  434. but He will punish disobedience. Therefore do not be partners

  435. with them. For you were once darkness, but

  436. now you are light, and the Lord live as children of the light.

  437. For the fruit of the light consists of all goodness,

  438. righteousness, and truth. And find out what pleases the

  439. Lord. You and I are supposed to be a

  440. light on a hill, us or city on a hill, a light on a stand, so

  441. that other people can see us and take notice of us from a

  442. distance. They should notice the

  443. difference. You and I are supposed to be

  444. different than the people around us.

  445. Because of our allegiance to Christ, let's keep going.

  446. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but

  447. rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention

  448. what the disobedient do in secret.

  449. Keep going. But everything exposed by the

  450. light becomes visible, and everything that is illuminated

  451. becomes a light that is. This is why it is said, Wake up,

  452. sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ.

  453. Will shine on you. Do the things that God calls you

  454. to do and He will shine on you. Let's keep going.

  455. Be very careful then, how you live not as unwise, but as wise.

  456. How do we do this? Making the most of every

  457. opportunity. Why?

  458. Because the days are evil. This could have been written

  459. today. The days are evil.

  460. You and I need to live as wise people, not as unwise people.

  461. We need to make the most of every opportunity.

  462. Let's keep going. Therefore, do not be foolish,

  463. but understand what the Lord's will is.

  464. If you were to ask what are the one of the top five questions

  465. that pastors gets asked, it is what is God's will for my life?

  466. So let me give you like the Cliff Notes version, we'll do a

  467. bigger one at a later time. But if you want to know God's

  468. will for your life, you learn God's will for your life by

  469. spending time in his word, the Bible, spending time in prayer

  470. with the Holy Spirit and spending time with God's people

  471. and then finding where God is working and join him there.

  472. If you want to know what God's will is for your life, that is

  473. how you do it. And one of the ways you can

  474. determine your spiritual maturity, charity in Christ, is

  475. through your spiritual intimacy with Christ.

  476. And when you are intimate with Christ, you know what it is that

  477. He wants you to do. So if you're going, I'm having a

  478. really hard time figuring out God's will for my life, that

  479. might mean that you are deficient in spending time in

  480. God's Word with His Spirit, with His people, and looking for

  481. where He is working and joining him in that work.

  482. Let's keep going. Do not get drunk on wine which

  483. leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the

  484. Spirit. So quick little devoke here, you

  485. can drink, you just can't get drunk.

  486. You should never be in a position where you can't drive

  487. and clearly tell somebody the good news of Jesus Christ.

  488. And if you can't tell somebody the good news of Jesus Christ, I

  489. would tell you to spend less time drinking and more time

  490. studying because a lot of times we get the courage to tell

  491. people about Jesus when we're drunk and but we can't really

  492. tell people what Jesus is like. So you should go to my church is

  493. the best. And the crossing has grown leaps

  494. and bounds on that strategy. But I want us to have a better

  495. strategy. OK, So you should always be in a

  496. position where you can do the work of the Lord.

  497. So alcohol is a lot like a lot of other things in Scripture.

  498. It is good in bounds, but if you operate outside of that bounds,

  499. it can do all kinds of damage. Alcohol is something that you

  500. can use, but if you use it in the wrong way, it can take you

  501. down a really bad Rd. Sex is a good thing from God,

  502. but if you do it in ways that you're not supposed to do it, it

  503. can cause all kinds of damage. And what happens when you let

  504. alcohol get out of its bounds? Well, it leads to all kinds of

  505. debauchery and just a little another devo.

  506. I've never met somebody who's like, you know what, Clayton?

  507. And we just wanted to come in and give you a praise report.

  508. Like, our marriage was really, really struggling.

  509. And then we started drinking a lot.

  510. And like, our marriage has never been better.

  511. Like she's more beautiful than me today than ever.

  512. OK, I've never had that testimony.

  513. I've never heard people come up to me and go.

  514. We are having a hard time managing our kids and we just

  515. started drinking. Just lots and lots of that's

  516. just never worked. In fact, a lot of people who

  517. give themselves over to a bunch of drinking end up in places

  518. that they never thought that they would be.

  519. He's saying listen man, don't be drunk.

  520. It leads places you don't want to go.

  521. OK, next one, speaking the weather with psalms, hymns and

  522. songs from the Spirit. Singing and making music from

  523. your hearts to the Lord. Always giving thanks to God the

  524. Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  525. That when you and I do these things, it points people to

  526. Jesus. So how do you and I make a

  527. difference? How do we use Ephesians 5 to

  528. make a difference that we want to desperately make?

  529. The first thing I'll tell you is we use our hands to help and not

  530. to point fingers. I do this sometimes and it's

  531. wrong. We like to make fun of the

  532. generations that are coming after us, and it's easy to make.

  533. Fun of them, but I would just remind us that if they're so

  534. jacked up, I would aren't we the ones that raised them?

  535. So like, if they stink, I guess we just have to admit that we

  536. stink as parents. I hear all the time people

  537. saying, you know, this younger generation and sports and all

  538. that stuff. It's impossible to get kids to

  539. come to church and the schedule is absolutely crazy.

  540. You know how you could solve all of that?

  541. Become the coach. When you become the coach and

  542. you use your hands to help instead of point fingers, they

  543. practice when you want to practice.

  544. They go to the tournaments that you want to go to.

  545. And by making that simple move, instead of sports pulling your

  546. kids away from church, you can use sports to pull kids to

  547. church, which is the strategy that we ran and you got you got

  548. maybe going. But Clayton, I'm not, I don't

  549. know sports all that well. Can you beat a 10 year old?

  550. Like I could dominate any 10 year old league right now.

  551. I guess that makes me the coach, doesn't it?

  552. Like unless it's cross country, but Hensels don't run.

  553. OK, So I ain't we ain't getting involved in that ministry.

  554. All right, if my kids want to start like cross country, I'd

  555. have to do a paternity test. I'd be like, that is not our DNA

  556. promise. Not even a hint of it.

  557. There should be a line out the door at all of our churches for

  558. men to invest in our kids ministry.

  559. When I was writing the sermon, I'm praying that this weekend,

  560. 50 men would go. You know what?

  561. I'm ready to serve and make a difference in kids ministry.

  562. I'm ready to be a spiritual coach for kids.

  563. There's so many single moms attending our church and for

  564. them, for those kids to have one hour where a man invests in

  565. them, encourages them, speaks into them, and shows them how to

  566. be a man of God could be absolutely life changing.

  567. Some of you need to think about retiring early, coming on staff

  568. for free so that you can be available to help men become the

  569. husbands that they need to be because they never saw how a

  570. husband was supposed to operate. Show them how to be a father

  571. because they never had a father. We are people who don't point

  572. fingers. We use our hands to help.

  573. Second thing I would tell you, don't let pride get in the way

  574. of your progress. Too many times we let pride get

  575. in the way of us becoming who God created and designed us to

  576. be. Recently, I took up the game of

  577. golf because I wanted a chance to meet people who didn't go to

  578. church and I wanted a chance to have spiritual conversations.

  579. And you kind of get some isolated time there.

  580. And it's been actually really wonderful.

  581. In fact, during first service today, one of the guys that I

  582. have been hanging out with got baptized and one of the big

  583. surprises to me was how horrible I am at golf.

  584. I thought I was going to be way better than I am, but oh man,

  585. I'm I'm just horrible. I'm unsafe and so there are so

  586. many people who have come along on the journey with me to

  587. resource me to help me get better.

  588. My putter and my 60° wedge are from Lucas.

  589. My irons and most of my drivers are from Pat and Connie.

  590. My other driver is from from Mike.

  591. My ball marker is from Dan. My golf balls are from Craig.

  592. My towel is from Andrew. My shoes are from Ben.

  593. Like everybody just keeps resourcing because they don't

  594. want me to kill somebody. Like before they accept Jesus, I

  595. don't want to be doing a funeral.

  596. Like I, I, I did it. I hit him right in the head with

  597. a golf ball. And so where people are just

  598. coming alongside of me. And when I'm out there golfing,

  599. everybody is helping me because I'm like, how do you?

  600. I mean, I spend so much time in sand traps.

  601. I'm like Clayton Hasselhoff, like, I'm just going to start

  602. wearing Shorty red shorts when I go golfing.

  603. It's just brutal. But every single one of them

  604. will tell me, hey, when you're getting ready to do this, you

  605. should try it this way or roll your wrist or keep your weight

  606. on your foot foot or your back foot.

  607. They're constantly trying to help me, and they're trying to

  608. help me get better because I keep humbling myself and saying

  609. I need help in this area. And if only some men in our

  610. church would humble themselves and say, I don't know how to

  611. read the Bible. I don't know how to pray.

  612. I don't know how to navigate things spiritually in my home.

  613. I I don't know how to connect with my wife anymore.

  614. I, I feel like I'm getting distance with my kids and I need

  615. a guide. If only a few men would humble

  616. themselves, Do you know what the people on our staff would do the

  617. moment they heard something like that?

  618. They would clear their schedule and they would say, we start

  619. tomorrow. If you would humble yourselves,

  620. people would help you grow in your relationship with Jesus

  621. Christ. But our pride is getting away of

  622. the progress that God wants to take in your life.

  623. And just so you know, the people that I'm golfing with are not

  624. Tiger Woods. They're just better than me.

  625. And some of you need to realize that if you've been following

  626. Jesus for a while, you have something to offer the people

  627. around you. That when you spend time in the

  628. Word of God, with the Spirit of God and with the people of God,

  629. you have something to help other people grow in their

  630. relationship. With God.

  631. Here's the other thing I tell you.

  632. You need to train for your testimony.

  633. What story do you want to be able to tell long term?

  634. What do you want the story of your kids or your grandkids to

  635. be? Start training them.

  636. It's impossible to talk about training and parenting without

  637. talking about Proverbs 22 verse 6.

    Proverbs 22:6

  638. Train up a child and the way he should go.

  639. And when he is old, he will not depart from it.

  640. In our home, when Jennifer leaves, I make the boys help

  641. clean the house. And then I'll I'll mess certain

  642. stuff up in the living room. And then I'll have them come in

  643. and I'll quiz them about what's wrong and what needs fixed.

  644. Because I want them to be attuned to how their mom wants

  645. the house so that way they can make the adjustments.

  646. Because one of these days they're going to have a wife.

  647. And I want them to know how to make what matters to their wife

  648. matter to them. I want my There's a 0% chance

  649. that my boys are going to have to navigate or pay their

  650. mortgage with their fastball. There's a 0% chance that my kids

  651. are going to pay their health insurance premiums with their

  652. golf swing. There's 100% chance that they're

  653. going to have to navigate with a wife who's ticked off.

  654. There is 100% chance that they're going to have to

  655. navigate a prayer that goes unanswered or goes gets answered

  656. in a way that they didn't thought.

  657. I need to train my kids for the valleys of life.

  658. Speaking of training, ladies, can I give you a little insight?

  659. There are two ways to train your husband.

  660. The carrot and the stick and the carrot works best when you

  661. affirm something in your husband, it releases all of

  662. these chemicals inside of them and it sears in their minds.

  663. Do that again. And when you criticize them, it

  664. makes them want to run. Here's ladies how you need to

  665. view your husband. You need to think of your

  666. husband as a big dumb Labrador retriever.

  667. He just. Wants to wag his tail?

  668. That's all your husband wants so.

  669. When he comes home and before he does all of his other stuff from

  670. work, he spends like 30 seconds with the kids.

  671. Here's what I want you to do. I love it when you spend some

  672. time with our kids, when you come home from work and you know

  673. what he's going to do. Oh, you love it.

  674. Oh, OK, I love that you love it. And the next day when he comes

  675. home, he's going to, like, slam the car door.

  676. So you hear it and then he'll be playing with the kids and

  677. looking through the window, you see you seeing what I'm doing.

  678. I'm playing with our kids. And when he comes inside you, I

  679. love it when you play with our kids outside in the road.

  680. And he's like, I love it when I play outside in the road too.

  681. He'll just be wagging his. Little Jesus tail.

  682. Third day, he'll be running a parade with all the kids in the

  683. neighborhood. Just out here, you're getting

  684. ready to pray before the meal and you.

  685. Put your hand on his arm and you go, would you bless the meal?

  686. And he goes, God is great. Not as good.

  687. We thank you for this take out food.

  688. You know what you do, ladies? I love it when you pray prayers.

  689. Oh yes, I love it when you pray prayers to our Heavenly Father.

  690. I love it when you are spiritual covering over us and you know

  691. what he's going to be doing. She likes it when we pray.

  692. She likes it when we pray. Next day you're going to get

  693. ready to eat and he's going to go.

  694. Our Father who are in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy

  695. Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth.

  696. And she's like, I love it when you pray the Lord's praise.

  697. Like I didn't know it was the Lord's Prayer, but I love it.

  698. You love it when I pray next day six, AMI, beseech thee, Heavenly

  699. Father, I'm coming to you in the heavenly realms.

  700. And I'm putting a hedge of protection around my sons.

  701. And I'm putting a hedge of protection around my daughters.

  702. And God, my wife went to bed angry last night.

  703. A little bit cranky, but I know that you're a healer.

  704. You'll be like waking up. What happened?

  705. You affirmed him. And when you affirm your man, he

  706. will kill for it. He will leave the house.

  707. He will go out to war. And he will die for it.

  708. It is hard wired into him and when you criticize or critique

  709. he will run from it. Name the thing your husband

  710. stinks at. Chances are he quit it.

  711. He went fishing one time, didn't catch a fish, never went back.

  712. Another guy went fishing, caught a fish the first time, and he's

  713. never stopped. They run towards affirmation.

  714. They flee criticism. So in your marriage, you want

  715. intimacy, you want closeness, you want conversation, you want

  716. spiritual direction. A firm, just a little bit when

  717. you see it and he will get his big Jesus tail.

  718. A wagon for you and you will find yourself in a relationship

  719. with the person you dreamt you would marry.

  720. Finally this. Is in life and in parenting

  721. fathers, more is caught than taught.

  722. You didn't give your kids a book when it came to changing attire.

  723. You went outside and you did it with them.

  724. And your kids are going to catch from you how to love God, how to

  725. follow Him, how to treat and love and adore and serve a wife,

  726. how to handle the highs and lows of parenting.

  727. They are going to catch it from you.

  728. So let them catch Jesus. They've caught your political

  729. beliefs. They've caught your generational

  730. sins. They've caught your anger.

  731. They've caught your frustration, they've caught your looks,

  732. they've caught your metabolism. Let them catch Jesus.

  733. That's what they need. Galatians chapter 5 says this,

    Galatians 5 chapter mention

  734. but the fruit of the Spirit is Lovejoy, peace, patience,

  735. kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,

  736. self-control. Against such things there is no

  737. law. The fruit of the Spirit.

  738. Let your kids catch love, let them catch joy, let them catch

  739. peace. Let them catch patience and

  740. kindness. Let them catch goodness and

  741. faithfulness. Let your kids catch gentleness

  742. and self-control. Let them catch Jesus.

  743. And those are called the fruit of the Spirit is because that's

  744. what happens when the Spirit is in your life.

  745. That means that your kids can't catch Jesus from you until you

  746. have Jesus in you. It means that they can never

  747. experience the love, the joy, the peace, the patience that

  748. they're supposed to experience until they get it from you

  749. because they're going to catch it from you.

  750. And you might be going. But Clayton, I don't have that.

  751. Well, the good news is you can. The Bible says that when you

  752. come into an intimate personal relationship with Jesus Christ,

  753. when you believe that He exists, that He died on the cross for

  754. your sins, when you come into that right relationship through

  755. the waters of baptism, the Bible promises that you will receive

  756. the gift of the Holy Spirit. So he imparts the Spirit into

  757. you, and then this is what the Spirit produces in you.

  758. And no matter where you are on your journey today, you can

  759. begin that journey towards an intimate personal relationship

  760. today. And when you do that, you put

  761. yourself in a position where you can pass on that goodness, that

  762. gentleness, that self-control because you have finally

  763. acquired it in Him. Men, your kids are going to

  764. catch something from you. Make sure that they catch Jesus.

  765. We're moving to a time of decision.

  766. Fathers. You will never be who God

  767. created you to be. You will never be who your

  768. family needs you to be until you have an intimate, personal

  769. relationship with Jesus Christ. And Satan knows how critical the

  770. direction that you take is. That's why you can come to

  771. church for years, hear sermons for years, have a desire to

  772. pursue Jesus for years, but never actually get around to

  773. doing it. Because every time you get ready

  774. to take a step, Satan has intercepted it.

  775. Satan has stopped it. You might be the most

  776. spiritually contested battleground in our region.

  777. It's because Satan knows that if he can keep the men, he can keep

  778. the family. What if today you pursue pursue

  779. Jesus not just on behalf of yourself, but on behalf of your

  780. family, your future family? Because wherever you go, your

  781. family will follow. That means that the spiritual

  782. decisions you make will have generational implications.

  783. That means that you are right. Now, in a pivotal moment in time

  784. where you will be making decisions that will impact those

  785. who will come after you, what decision are you going to make?

  786. You can choose to follow Jesus, chase after Him, grow in your

  787. relationship with Him, start a relationship with Him, or you

  788. can choose to walk away and let Satan win.

  789. And I know that there's a battle going on right now because there

  790. are some of you who are going. I think He's talking to me and

  791. that's not me. That is the Holy Spirit saying

  792. it's time, it's long overdue. It's time to answer the prayers

  793. that your mom's and your dad's and your wives have been

  794. praying. Today's the day where Jesus

  795. wins. And if that's you, it's just a

  796. few moments. The people around you are going

  797. to stand and worship, and some of them are going to come to the

  798. steps and pray. And I'm going to encourage you

  799. to walk right over there underneath that screen next to

  800. that baptistry, and start asking the questions that you know need

  801. to be asked, making the decisions that you know need to

  802. be made, not just for you, but for those you love who will come

  803. after you to the rest of you in the room.

  804. Would you pray for the men in your life?

  805. There might be a harder Rd. that they walk because of the
