  1. We should hold also in our hands and people who have been rescued

  2. from the greatest evil. There is they hope that

  3. suffering and evil and sin and death will not have the last

  4. word. all right, so There's a lot of suffering in our world

  5. today so much pain and anguish our cause and our world today,

  6. like this week, I don't know if you've been on social media or

  7. you've seen the news, but we're reminded again of the suffering

  8. that goes on in our world with the shooting that happened at

  9. Covenant School in Nashville. Now, I'm not here that I don't

  10. want to give any gun reform laws or any talking points or

  11. anything like that's nice. That's not what I'm here to do.

  12. Nor do I bring that up? Up to Simply trigger and to grab

  13. your attention. I share this with you because

  14. the Easter Sunday, the coming of Easter Sunday, and this season

  15. of lent, it demands, we ask the question.

  16. Why is there so much sin and suffering in the world?

  17. Why the heartache year after year after year and more

  18. importantly, what we have to consider during this season and

  19. given the sufferings that we have and we've seen as is there

  20. a God in heaven who sees the hell that we go through and

  21. doesn't care? This season of Lent, is it

  22. forces us to ask these questions and a macro level, right?

  23. But it also forces us to ask these questions at a micro level

  24. as well, like is there, like I know that there is sin and

  25. suffering out there in the world but what about the sin and

  26. suffering that I go through and here?

  27. What about the sin and suffering?

  28. I experienced at the hands of others God.

  29. Do you care about the slander and the gossip that others throw

  30. it at me? Do you care about my loneliness?

  31. And my forgotten? This is there.

  32. A guy who sees my abuse and my manipulation at the hands of

  33. others. And as we asked those questions,

  34. we must also. Ask is there a God who would

  35. Deliver us from our sin in the wrong that we commit?

  36. His there, any hope for my lust is there any hope for my pride?

  37. Is there any hope for my Her or my jealousy.

  38. As I seek to follow Christ in this broken world.

  39. Do I have hope? A family.

  40. If you came this morning with these questions, I got good news

  41. for you. I got really good news for you.

  42. If you are way down by the burden of sin and suffering, if

  43. that heavy yoke of iniquity Hanks have to lie around your

  44. neck. If the overwhelming poundage of

  45. your enslavement is dragging you down, I believe that God through

  46. his word today has something he wants to tell you.

  47. I believe that there is good news for us this morning.

  48. Amen. I will bow before then let stand

  49. for the Reno guys were let's go Jay we're going to be in Isaiah

  50. 53. We're going to be in the whole

  51. chapter. It's a lot in this text.

  52. So the way that will navigate this is our tests kind of Bounce

  53. Around, it'll make sense hopefully.

  54. All right, Isaiah 53, I'm reading from the csb version is

  55. pretty similar to the ESV. This is the word of the Lord,

  56. who has believed, what we heard and to whom has the arm of the

  57. Lord been revealed. Everybody, say arm of the Lord,

  58. he grew up before him like a young plant, like a root out of

  59. dry ground. He didn't have any impressive

  60. for my Majesty that we should look at him.

  61. No appearance that we should desire him.

  62. He was despised and rejected by men.

  63. A man of suffering who knew what sickness was.

  64. Oh, that's good news. He was like someone people

  65. turned away from, he was despised and we didn't value him

  66. yet. Despite all that.

  67. He himself bore our sickness, and he carried our pains, but we

  68. in turn regarded him stricken struck down by God and

  69. Afflicted, but he was pierced because of our Rebellion.

  70. He was crushed because of our iniquities, the punishment

  71. punishment. For our peace was on him.

  72. And we are healed by his wounds. We all everyone of us went away.

  73. Went astray like sheep. We all have turned to our own

  74. way and the Lord has punished him for the iniquity of us.

  75. All he was oppressed and Afflicted.

  76. Yet, he did not open his mouth like a lamb led to the

  77. slaughter, like a sheep silent before her Shearer's.

  78. He did not open his mouth, he was taken away because of

  79. Oppression and judgment and who considered his fate for.

  80. He was cut off from the land of the living.

  81. He was struck because of my peoples Rebellion, he was

  82. assigned a grave If with the wicked, but he was a rich man at

  83. his death because he had done no violence had not spoken to see

  84. fully yet and this is good news, y'all yet.

  85. The Lord was pleased to crush him severely.

  86. When you make him a guilt offering, he will see his seed,

  87. he will prolong his days. And by his hand, the Lord's

  88. pleasure will be accomplished. After his anguish, he will see

  89. light and be satisfied. By his knowledge.

  90. My righteous servant will justify many and He will carry

  91. their iniquities. Therefore, I will give him the

  92. many as a portion and he will receive the mightiest spoil.

  93. Because he willingly submitted to death.

  94. And was counted among the rebels, yet.

  95. He bore the sin of many and interceded for the rebels.

  96. This is the Lord, the word of the Lord.

  97. It is good. It is true.

  98. You maybe see that One of the first things that we

  99. learn about God in the opening pages of Genesis.

  100. Is that he is a God, who is active and not Passive by the

  101. very breath of his word. Everything that you see and

  102. experience they came into being God is active.

  103. That's just in the first chapter of Genesis in the very next

  104. chapter. We see uttered for the first

  105. time words, not good. When the God had looks at Adam

  106. sees his loneliness. God says, it's not good for him

  107. to be alone. I will make him a helper that is

  108. suitable for him. God moves toward Adam and

  109. Fashions, him, a wife, God is active.

  110. And as we turn over to the next chapter in Genesis 3, what we

  111. see is that guy's not the only one getting busy.

  112. Mankind is active to yeah. How does mankind use their

  113. activity. They use it to declare their

  114. independence and self rule yet. What is God's response to their

  115. sin and subsequent separation from God?

  116. He moves toward them in Genesis 3 Guys says, where are you?

  117. He goes out toward them. God is active.

  118. You see what we learn from the very opening pages of This Book.

  119. Is that God has always been active and not passive.

  120. He is always actively moved toward the sin and suffering of

  121. his people to deliver them from it.

  122. God's answer to sin and suffering is to take

  123. responsibility for that, not in a way that would suggest that

  124. he's the cause of it. Now we know that God is good and

  125. in him, there is no unrighteousness.

  126. No God takes responsibility for it in the fact that he sees it

  127. and does something about it. Let's look back at verse 1 and

  128. Isaiah 53. Who has believed, what we have

  129. heard and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed,

  130. everybody, say arm of the Lord, If you have a pencil or pen,

  131. this is you should Circle that just circle that in your Bible

  132. because I believe that is the door that opens up their beauty

  133. of this. Entire passage when Isaiah uses

  134. the term arm of the Lord. They should clue Us in to the

  135. fact that God is at work or he's about to get to work.

  136. Isaiah is pulling language used in reference by Moses.

  137. When Moses describes to Israel, their Exodus from Egyptian

  138. slavery, this language, the arm of the Lord is littered all

  139. throughout. Deuteronomy Deuteronomy 5 15

  140. Moses says, remember that you were slaves in Egypt and the

  141. Lord your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an

  142. outstretched arm. Deuteronomy 7 19 you saw with

  143. your own eyes the great trials and signs and wonders the mighty

  144. hand of the outstretched arm. Excuse me, the Mighty hand

  145. outstretched arm with which the Lord your God brought you out.

  146. Deuteronomy 9:26. He says, I prayed to the Lord

    Deuteronomy 9:26

  147. and said, Sovereign Lord, do not destroy your people, your own

  148. inheritance that you have Redeemed by what your great

  149. power and brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

  150. And we also see in Psalm 136, the psalmist is caught up in

  151. praise and he's praising. God for God's enduring love and

  152. as he sings And he as he meditates on all the ways in

  153. which God has shown his love and To his people.

  154. The psalmist says this. This is amazing.

  155. He says, give thanks to God to whom to him who struck down the

  156. firstborn of Egypt. His love endures forever and

  157. brought Israel out among them. His love endures forever with a

  158. mighty hand and outstretched arm his love endures forever.

  159. What I'm trying to say is this family when we begin to read our

  160. text this morning and we see Isaiah used the phrase, the arm

  161. of the lord, we know that God is about to get active things about

  162. to get Poppin. We can assume that God is about

  163. to move mightily on behalf of his people in the South Pacific

  164. and rescuing way. And if that doesn't get you a,

  165. hallelujah, amen than one or two things are wrong, right?

  166. You either zoned out phase, I was reading all those passages

  167. which makes sense or or, or you haven't suffered under the under

  168. the tyrannical slavery of sin or experience the suffering that

  169. comes with living in a sinful world.

  170. And I'm just going to assume that the first option is your

  171. reality because if you've experienced the suffering of sin

  172. and death and destruction as I have, then when Isaiah says and

  173. to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed, your hand should

  174. go up in the air and your mouth should begin to praise God.

  175. You should be prepared for things to get on and Poppin

  176. because God is about to move, he's about to move.

  177. So how so how is God going to move then?

  178. Is he going to send plagues to terrorize?

  179. Is he going to drown the enemies of God in the sea?

  180. As we continue to read our text, we find something completely

  181. different. We find that God's plan to end

  182. sin. And suffering is humble.

  183. It's unassuming and it's humiliating.

  184. Let's reread verses 2 through 5. It says he grew up before him

  185. like a young plant and like a root out of dry ground.

  186. He didn't have an impressive form imagines.

  187. Excuse me. Majesty, that we should look at

  188. him. No appearance that we should

  189. desire him. He was despised and rejected by

  190. men. A man of suffering who knew what

  191. sickness was. He was like someone people

  192. turned away from. He was despised.

  193. We didn't value him yet. He himself.

  194. He bore our sicknesses and carried our pains, but in turn

  195. we regard him stricken struck down by God Afflicted but he was

  196. pierced because As of our Rebellion crushed, because of

  197. our iniquities punished the punishment.

  198. Scuse me for our peace was on him and we are healed by his

  199. wounds. Many of you here today.

  200. Have believed and wrestle with the fact that God seems to say

  201. silent in the midst of great suffering. but what we learn as

  202. we continue to read Isaiah is that God enters into our

  203. suffering and he bleeds with us, he bleeds with us and no family.

  204. This is good news that we have a God that bleeds and suffers with

  205. us that we have in this picture of the suffering.

  206. Servant, what we have is this picture of God, who is so moved

  207. into action, for the sake of his people that he himself subjects

  208. himself to suffering. He does this by becoming a man,

  209. taking on flesh in the God, man. Jesus Christ.

  210. Spoiler alert Jesus is the suffering servant.

  211. Don't know if you knew that, but it's Jesus.

  212. Jesus is the arm of the Lord stretch to give to get active on

  213. behalf of his people. Isaiah tells us that he bore our

  214. sicknesses. We see that.

  215. He carried our pain. He was pierced because of our

  216. Rebellion. He was crushed because of our

  217. iniquities. And this is the part where I got

  218. to look you in the eye this morning and tell you the really

  219. hard thing. The hard truth that it is your

  220. sin. It is my sin.

  221. It is our sin that has caused his great suffering.

  222. We all young and old are the cause and we know this because

  223. in our text Isaiah tells us that we all went astray.

  224. Like she we all have turned our own way.

  225. We have all turned our own way. What we see play out in Genesis

  226. 3 when Adam and Eve fell to live life inside the will of God and

  227. the statues to live life. Autonomously apart from God,

  228. runs in our veins, as well. Their choice to turn their own

  229. way. Has now been passed down to us.

  230. We all turn our own way. And this is what the Bible means

  231. when it talks about Sin. It's true that right Sands are

  232. the things we do, like, lying cheating murder, adultery lust,

  233. but they all stem from the same root.

  234. We all have this with. The Bible says, the sinful

  235. nature a nature that seeks every opportunity to, as Isaiah says,

  236. turn our own way. And we know this is true.

  237. I mean we got so many little kids in here.

  238. We got so many litters in here running around and you don't,

  239. you don't have to, you don't have to guess that.

  240. Like naturally we just, we know, we don't have to be taught to do

  241. wrong, right? Kids, just naturally do that

  242. they naturally do their own thing and just straight up.

  243. Ignore you. That's the notion that that

  244. we're talking about with the sinful Nature's, it's not

  245. taught. It's just inherited nature,

  246. that's passed down from our First parents, Adam and Eve.

  247. We all just want to do what we want to do.

  248. We want to live life apart from God, we want to live life on our

  249. own terms. And this root of sin, has

  250. permeated every nook and crevice of our world.

  251. And it goes out, it goes out, like streams of death and

  252. destruction, and it suffocates everything, and it suffocates

  253. everyone so much, so that small little white lies mature into

  254. full-blown adultery. That ravishes and pulls families

  255. apart. Sin has permeated every nook and

  256. crevice of our world so much. So that what was, once the small

  257. distrust of a neighbor turns into walls and borders of

  258. distrust and hate that cuts off those in need from the resources

  259. they deserve. Saint has permeated every nook

  260. and crevice of our world so much.

  261. So, So much. So that at times we are silent

  262. when we should speak because our reputations and images are more

  263. important than being faithful and standing up for what is

  264. right? So, this is why this is just an

  265. example. This is why I sometimes churches

  266. are sometimes allowed its own theological talking points,

  267. right? But quietest and say, we try to

  268. say face when it comes to matters of Injustice, like, you

  269. know, the protection of The Unborn or the eradication of

  270. systemic racism, just to name a few You.

  271. Sin has permeated every nook and crevice of our world so much.

  272. So that almost like an alarm clock every year.

  273. People walk into schools and gunned down children, sin has

  274. destroyed everything. and while all those things are wrong and

  275. terrible and worth weeping over and Being distressed about all

  276. those things. All those things are hard and

  277. while they're terrible in themselves, the real dilemma.

  278. And the greatest horror that we are faced with that.

  279. You were faced with in this world is the problem of your

  280. sin. Arsenide only ravages and

  281. destroys God's good creation, but it makes us enemies before

  282. God. We are enemies before God,

  283. because God is good, right? And completely good with no

  284. caveat, which means that his pure goodness, demands Justice

  285. for evil, our sin separates us, more and more from the presence

  286. of God, where there is life. Goodness, truth and Grace.

  287. This is the bad news family. This is the bad news that we all

  288. participate in. But that's just one part of the

  289. story and man. That's just one part of the

  290. story. I said that there's more to the

  291. story like God walking toward Adam and Eve in the cool of the

  292. day. And just like the arm of the

  293. Lord, rescuing his people from Egyptian slavery.

  294. Our God looks Upon Our helpless situation and our enslavement to

  295. sin and Crosses eternity to get active on your behalf.

  296. Let's get back to our text Isaiah 5.

  297. He says, but he was pierced because of our Rebellion.

  298. He was crushed because of our iniquities.

  299. Punishment for our peace was on him, and we are healed by his

  300. wounds. Here's our reality, this

  301. morning, when we read in our scripture about the suffering

  302. servant, who is ultimately and completely fulfilled.

  303. In the person of Jesus, we are not just simply looking toward

  304. the death of a man who's just nailed to a tree like that's

  305. happening, but that's not the only thing that were looking at.

  306. You are simply just looking at this public execution, we're not

  307. just simply marveling and reading a story about this man.

  308. Back in the day, he was sentenced to death.

  309. All those things are true. What we are looking at as we

  310. read the words of Isaiah and look through them to their true

  311. fulfillment. In Jesus.

  312. We are looking what we are looking at as we read and

  313. witnessed, Jesus being nailed to a cross as we see him bloody and

  314. beaten as we see him humiliated, and ridiculed, as we see him,

  315. stripped naked and beaten as we witness all these things.

  316. What we are really witnessing is the arm of the Lord stretching

  317. through the Heavens to substitute himself for you.

  318. That's what's happening. God is reaching through the

  319. Heavens to save you. Jesus suffers not just the

  320. physical pain but he suffers in reserves are punishment for sin.

  321. Family, God is active. He's not passing from your sin

  322. and suffering. He's not.

  323. But this is always been his plan, he's always planned to

  324. substitute himself. And we see this really clearly

  325. that he's been pairing, he's been preparing this for his

  326. people for a minute. I'm not going to read this to

  327. you because I know that when you guys get to Leviticus and your

  328. Bible reading plan, it kind of check out.

  329. I do too. It's okay, but in Leviticus 16,

  330. if you haven't read it, it's this.

  331. It's this story of Aaron, Israel's priest, being given

  332. these instructions by Moses on how God is going to deal with

  333. the sin of his people. It's been God's plan to always

  334. live among his people and complete relationship, but he

  335. can't do that because the people are saying was saying, I just

  336. talked about that, right? And because God is perfectly,

  337. holy, he can't be around saying just talked about that as well.

  338. So God in his kindness, what he does is he institute's has this

  339. thing called the day of atonement.

  340. This is day when the high priest would go before God in the holy

  341. of holies, he would confess the sin and guilt of the people, he

  342. will Slaughter an animal, he would pay for the punishment of

  343. his people of these. Four cents and during their see

  344. what offer up two goals, one of the goals he would die, they

  345. said of the people dying and then one goat would be set off

  346. into the Wilderness to symbolize.

  347. I said, sin will no longer touch the people.

  348. And their, their, their guilt has been taken away now, it's a

  349. lot. Now, this was extremely tedious,

  350. and painstaking process that happened year after year after

  351. year, and the reason why we're so painstaking.

  352. And the reason why it happened year after year after years,

  353. because of two things. The first Is that sin is

  354. serious, and its effects are strong and we just talked about

  355. that and you guys live here on Earth in 2023, you know that

  356. that's that our world is good, but it's also a lot going on

  357. there. So I don't have to beat that

  358. horse. but the second reason why it's so painstaking and it

  359. happened year after year, after year, is that the weight of the

  360. punishment of sin could never be satisfied by the blood of bulls

  361. and goats This was a picture because our offense is eternal

  362. in God's eyes. The only thing that could

  363. possibly satisfy it as something of equal measure.

  364. And the suffering servant, that Isaiah is talking about a lord.

  365. Jesus Christ. He's our true and better

  366. sacrifice. He's a true and better day of

  367. atonement. You should say.

  368. I sacrifice it only needed to be done once a sacrifice that is

  369. sufficient for God's Eternal requirements because he's 100%

  370. God and thus fulfills. The god size requirement that

  371. sin demands but he's also the perfect sacrifice in the fact

  372. that he's also a hundred percent man.

  373. Did I say God or man? The first time anyway.

  374. The this medicines. Give me kind of loopy up here.

  375. So he's 100% God, he satisfied gods.

  376. God size requirement for saint, but he's also a hundred percent

  377. man. And so that that's qualifies him

  378. to stand in our place to represent us before God, And as

  379. our representative, he stands completely perfect without guilt

  380. or staying. He is a sacrifice that God looks

  381. at and is pleased with verse 10 says, says, this is look back at

  382. our text yet, the Lord was pleased to crush him severely

  383. When you make a, will you make him a guilt offering?

  384. He will see his seed, and he will prolong his days.

  385. And by his hand, the Lord's pleasure will be accomplished.

  386. God isn't pleasing. It like this weird sick way that

  387. was suggest that he loves to see his son like murdered.

  388. That's not what's going on here? He's pleased in the sense that

  389. that God has looked on. Jesus, sacrifice and he's

  390. accepted it and he's seen it as sufficient to pay the price in

  391. the penalty of sin for the world.

  392. He takes our place, God takes our place, Jesus Takes our

  393. place. And what is more is that Jesus

  394. looks at you this morning in the II.

  395. With a smile on his face. and he says that I willingly do this,

  396. Where Jesus isn't dragging his feet to the cross for you, he's

  397. running. He's sprinting, he's sprinting

  398. to the cross for us. He willingly lays his life down

  399. at verse 12 says, right verse 12 says because he willingly

  400. submitted to death and was counted among the rebels.

  401. The flood of God, the father's just wrath because of our sin,

  402. which was reserved for us, comes crashing down, and on the cross,

  403. Jesus willingly steps in front of it and absorbs it, his body

  404. and soul for you now know about you.

  405. But that part, that part right there has been such a grounding

  406. and anchoring for me this week. Excuse me.

  407. Hey, Jesus. Willingly suffers on my behalf

  408. for my wrongs that I did. And still do it feels like It

  409. feels like my couch after a really hard crossfit workout.

  410. It feels like my couch after really hard crossfit workout.

  411. I find myself both at rest. And in all, when I read the

  412. truth, that Jesus willingly goes to the cross for me, I'm at rest

  413. because what that means for me is that there's nothing I have

  414. to do to earn God's favor and forgiveness.

  415. I don't have to do backflips. I don't, I can't do a backflip.

  416. I don't have to do cartwheels. I don't have to say, twelve

  417. thousand prayers. Like Jesus has already willingly

  418. decided to go to the Shirley. I don't have to convince God to

  419. love me. I don't have to convince God to

  420. save me. He has already chosen to do so.

  421. It's already done because what Jesus did, I can simply enjoy

  422. God's good gift of salvation. I'm at rest that make sense.

  423. But I'm also in awe because what that means is that there is a

  424. God, who rules over everything sustains everything, who sees

  425. everything, who is in control of everything and is looked down

  426. from his throne and saw my sufferings because of sin.

  427. And even though it wasn't his fault, he takes the burden of

  428. responsibility by dying on a cross for me.

  429. Why God does that? Like I wasn't going to say this

  430. but I guess I it's full of spirit saying Christianity is

  431. not like every other religion. I don't know if you guys know

  432. that every other religion Islam, Buddha Hinduism, they all give

  433. you steps on how to get to God. Christianity is the only

  434. religion that looks at the suffering of its people.

  435. Is this the only religion that God looks at the suffering of

  436. his people and instead of giving them rules on how to get to him.

  437. He he they This is thrown and comes to us.

  438. This is this is this is we should Marvel at the fact that

  439. there is a God who sustains your very breath who loves you so

  440. much to come down to you to save you.

  441. You this is good news y'all. This is good news, and if that's

  442. not love that, I don't know what love is.

  443. To see Jesus suffering in my place.

  444. I don't know what caring is if that's not caring. so as we

  445. close, There's so much more I could have said this morning,

  446. but I just pray that this is helpful as we close.

  447. I just want to give kind of to handle bars, like things to hold

  448. onto. As we as we, as we think, about

  449. Sin and suffering, two points of encouragement.

  450. You can say, when we think about Christ's suffering in our place,

  451. how should that cause us to respond to sin and suffering

  452. that we see in the world? At a macro level, right?

  453. But also how does it make us respond to the sin and suffering

  454. that we see at a micro level with that within our own cells

  455. as have two suggestions? These are exhaustive but I think

  456. that they'll be helpful. So at a macro level, I think

  457. what this means for us. As we look at sin and suffering

  458. in the world, it can encourage us to walk in step with our God

  459. who sees tragedy and he weeps and laments.

  460. And it's move and compassion toward it.

  461. That makes sense. Now, I know that this is may be

  462. new for a lot of us, but I just think that it's biblical and

  463. right and instead with the Lord to weep and lament and to, and

  464. to cry out and anger because of the sin and suffering that you

  465. see in the world, like, this is, this is good for the people of

  466. God to look at Injustice and evil and cry out.

  467. Lord, come make this new make this right, that's good for us.

  468. For example, I think it's okay if we are to see those shootings

  469. that happened at Covenant School this last week and for us to

  470. reap our guts out for those victims.

  471. To plead our guts out before the Lord that it's not right.

  472. That children are just gunned down that it seems like

  473. politicians don't do anything but just its view that as a

  474. talking point to gain favor and and status that, that they You

  475. should be okay to weep and lament and ask God to make it

  476. right. I even think that it's okay.

  477. I'ma say it, I even think it's okay that if you take the social

  478. media without raising demand for justice, that's a that's a

  479. career. I just think that like caring

  480. for evil caring, that evil is happening in your world.

  481. That think it's good and godly, it's good and godly to ask God

  482. to do something about it. So at a macro level, that's what

  483. I think. We should be moved by sin and

  484. evil. But as we do that, right?

  485. As we care about evil, as we as we ask God to come as we as we

  486. Take to the streets or whatever that looks like for you.

  487. We should also hold in our other hand, the hope that we have that

  488. we do. So as a people who don't have by

  489. as we do, so as sorry, we do that as a people who have hope.

  490. The suffering, certainly Christ dying on the cross.

  491. For our sins is proof that God cares about your suffering and

  492. sin and evil and that he will not let it go on forever. so, we

  493. weep as people who have hope we lament as people who have hope,

  494. It will end in a real way, and there will be no more tears.

  495. No more heartache, no more to spare, no more disease.

  496. We have a God in the person of Jesus Christ who has

  497. demonstrated to us on the cross, and in his sufferings that he

  498. hates such things and he will advocate for his people.

  499. Macro level. That was macro level micro

  500. level. What about the stuff?

  501. What what the sufferings of Christ means for us?

  502. And a personal level. Is that you are no longer

  503. enslaved to sin. If you have trusted Christ as

  504. your lord and savior, you see if he is the yes, the amen of your

  505. soul, you are not enslaved to your sin.

  506. Your chains are broken. You can't say no to your sin.

  507. Now that you don't struggle. Not that you won't fall, but you

  508. are not enslaved anymore. You should slay your sin, you

  509. should put it to death. You could, you should confess it

  510. to your brothers and sisters, you should do all that.

  511. But please remember that they are nailed to the cross.

  512. It is a response to what Jesus has already done, right?

  513. You're not earning your way. Isaiah tells us write the

  514. punishment for our sins was on Christ and now we have peace by

  515. his stripes. We are healed.

  516. So at a micro level, why not live into that?

  517. Right? Why not love your neighbor as

  518. yourself? Why not do good works, why not

  519. stay sexually pure why not say no to sin and yes to Jesus.

  520. Here's the reality. And here's the last thing.

  521. I'll say maybe because thus if the sufferings of Christ,

  522. because of the sufferings of Christ you are Justified before

  523. God, Oh my God. Looks at you.

  524. He doesn't see your sin. He doesn't see your past.

  525. He doesn't see the things that you're doing going to do in the

  526. future. He sees the Spotless perfect

  527. image of his son Jesus. He sees the record of Jesus and

  528. though you battle with sin and suffering and evil, and even

  529. death here on Earth. Now know that you are more than

  530. a conqueror because he has conquered for you.

  531. And this is the good news of we're going to celebrate next

  532. week. Amen.

  533. That death has died. There's sin and sickness

  534. ultimately will be no more. But I let Cole tell that story

  535. next week. Let's pray.

  536. Jesus. I thank you that you have.

  537. Hmm, hello. Did you have died for us that

  538. you have suffered for us that you are not silent in the midst

  539. of Our sufferings and sin and I think right now, Lord, I just

  540. feel you pressing me too. To call people to respond to

  541. this message, Lord, to call people not to the message.

  542. But to the message of the cross, that been there, if there's

  543. anyone in the sound of my voice right now who have, who is not

  544. known this to be a reality in their lives.

  545. Who doesn't know that you have dealt with our sin.

  546. That you have suffered for our sin and that you have made us

  547. new as we respond to that. I pray that they would give

  548. their life to you right now. Lord that's you this morning.

  549. I would just love to talk with you.

  550. I know that's that's weird and we don't really do that here at

  551. Frontier, but I just feel like God pressing on my heart and

  552. Lord, I Thank you for the cross. We pray for the the students,

  553. the families of Covenant School. And now Asheville Lord, we ask

  554. that your Justice and your mercy Would Rain Down.

  555. Lord, we pray for our nation, and just the ways in which sin

  556. our world really, not just our nation, the, what the ways in

  557. which sin. And suffering has seemed to

  558. almost just freaking devour it. And we ask Lord Jesus.

  559. That you would, she would come soon that you would make all

  560. things new? Well we we just we were at a

  561. loss for words but we know as we look to the Cross we know that

  562. you care for the world and so we trust you and we actually will

  563. be done in Jesus name amen?
