  1. Do you feel the despite the work that you put in to follow Jesus?

  2. That he's just offshore in a boat and avoiding being crushed?

  3. As Carlos said, my name is Jay, that is not changed in the last

  4. couple seconds. And if I have not met you, I

  5. will take the L on that one, because I've been coming here

  6. for quite a while, and I have the great Fortune to sometimes

  7. be asked to preach. So, without further Ado, I'm

  8. going to pray and we're just gonna get into it.

  9. Oh Christ, at the altar of my life be magnified in me.

  10. May I represent your words well and may we see that you are with

  11. us in Jesus name. Amen.

  12. If you have not met him yet, you will.

  13. I'm speaking of course of my son Calvin.

  14. Calvin has been described as a wild child.

  15. A free spirit, a troublemaker. And believe me, he lives up to

  16. the hype. but one of the coolest parts of being a parent is

  17. getting to see how your children experience the world, how they

  18. look at things, I'm stained by cynicism and doubt and just go

  19. at it, from the most logical, sometimes the most illogical

  20. way, but with no negative emotions, and we had an example

  21. of that this lasts Easter So leading up to Easter, my wife

  22. had set up the Jesus story book. Bible as something for us to

  23. read to go through. And to prepare our hearts,

  24. prepare our children for what was about to happen, what we're

  25. about to discuss. And the cool thing about the

  26. Jesus story book, Bible is from the Old Testament to the New

  27. Testament stories with Jesus without Jesus every single

  28. thing. Every single chapter, every

  29. single part of it speaks to the speaks of Jesus, speaks of ways

  30. doing and Calvin having read that got very excited and got

  31. this idea in his mind that on Easter Sunday, he was going to

  32. get to see Jesus at church and give him a hug.

  33. And I'm going to tell you it was not a good parenting move, but

  34. we did not kill that out of the gate.

  35. No, no, no. That's brownie points.

  36. Finger kid wants to hug Jesus. No, so we let that fly.

  37. But Easter Sunday, came and there we were Calvin came into

  38. church and he started running around looking for Jesus to give

  39. him a hug to see where he was and finally get to meet this man

  40. that he'd been hearing so much about And the reality dawned

  41. upon my wife and I, that we were going to have to talk to him.

  42. So we did what every single clever parent with in Frontier,

  43. should do when faced, with the situation like that.

  44. We unloaded it to Casey canoe. Casey, if you have not met him

  45. yet, you will. He's our resident Theologian.

  46. He reads a lot of liturgy writes, most of it and he

  47. probably hates the fact that I'm talking about him.

  48. So I'm just gonna go to the point.

  49. We told Calvin and again, this is not a parent unless and this

  50. is just what actually happened. We told Calvin.

  51. Go ask Casey, where Jesus is And he did that.

  52. And Casey being Casey quoted chapter and verse and gave the

  53. perfect theological answer, he said, Calvin well, according to

  54. Hebrews 12, Jesus is seated at the right hand of God the father

  55. and furthermore if you look at Colossians 3, he is holding all

  56. of creation together. Calvin.

  57. Did not like that answer. No, but look on Calvin's face

  58. was something between confusion disillusionment and probably

  59. diarrhea because he just ran away and Frontier.

  60. I'm here to tell you that, I agree with everything the Casey

  61. said, And I don't disagree with it, just agree with it.

  62. I want you to know and I want you to show you that.

  63. His answer is better than what Calvin's?

  64. Hope was. Please rise for the reading of

  65. God's word. Mark chapter 3, verses 7 through

    Mark 3:7–12

  66. 12 Jesus has just left. The synagogue, other gospels

  67. would point to the fact that he knew that the Pharisees were

  68. trying to kill him. So he is orientation himself

  69. away from the synagogue and back into the wilderness.

  70. Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea and a great

  71. crowd followed From Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem, and it Amia

  72. and from Beyond the Jordan and from around Tyree and Sedona,

  73. when the great crowd heard all that he was doing, they came to

  74. him and he told his disciples to have a boat ready for him

  75. because of the crowd, lest they crush him.

  76. For he had healed many so that all who had diseases pressed

  77. around him to touch him and whenever the unclean Spirit saw

  78. him, they fell down before him and cried out.

  79. You are the Son of God and he strictly ordered them not to

  80. make him known. This is God's word.

  81. It is good in his true. Please be seated. so, the

  82. Pharisees They ran out of carrots, they've ran out of

  83. sticks. And it was just at this point

  84. that they have decided that the only logical thing to do with

  85. this man was to kill him. That's what happens when the

  86. seat of power is threatened. And In This Moment, the seat of

  87. power was threatened. Jesus had become the center of

  88. gravity of the ancient world, and he shows the center of

  89. gravity by having a great crowd follow.

  90. If you think about this, like this is something that kind of

  91. makes sense today that people could hear about this about a

  92. big event there. Be Community organizers, would

  93. be trending topics on Twitter, there'd be Discord, servers text

  94. messages, but no, from from North, from the east, from the

  95. south, all these people heard from the ground up that there

  96. was a man doing amazing things that people needed to see.

  97. And Journeys. Like, this are hard for families

  98. today, even I don't know this by experience.

  99. I know this because every time we take a journey today, my wife

  100. tells me that Journeys like this are very hard, you have to get

  101. food, you have to get water, you have to make sure that their

  102. snacks, you have to deal with your kids talking for, as long

  103. as that car ride is going to be. And the people this great crowd

  104. had even greater reality is associated with this.

  105. They would have to feed animals, they would have to have water

  106. for days, not just for hours. They would have to have food for

  107. days. They would have to have tents,

  108. they would have to walk and bear the burdens of physical toil on

  109. them. Instead of just having just

  110. having a car with air conditioning that would keep you

  111. safe from any store more firm, anything and the crowd assembled

  112. At the Sea of Galilee to see Jesus and what is a rare Hebrew

  113. word? That only the most tatted up and

  114. punk, rock Israelites would have known, which was a bar Mosh Pit.

  115. Okay, I'm sorry. I've been under cold for too

  116. long and I feel like a successful sermon needs to have

  117. at least one made up word and I had a feeling that bar moshpit

  118. would would fall flat and I was right and I should have trusted

  119. my gut on that but Thank you. So why did these people make the

  120. sacrifice? Why did they make the journey to

  121. surround this man to surround Jesus?

  122. Well, the text gives us some Clues.

  123. From Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem in India.

  124. Mia. And for beyond the Jordan and

  125. around tirean, stone. So the cool thing about these

  126. states is that each of them were established long, long before

  127. Jesus is time, but the irony is that, while they bear the same

  128. names that Israel given them they were under Roman control.

  129. So as has, the great crowd was making their Journey, they would

  130. have had to be reminded with each passing step with each

  131. portion of the journey that they were not.

  132. As God's chosen people, in control the, the road would have

  133. had tax collectors scattered along.

  134. It, people ripping off their own Community to enrich themselves

  135. and enriched from there, would be Roman soldiers, reminding

  136. them their place who they actually were in this world.

  137. And as for shaving, they probably saw a few Roman crosses

  138. to really communicate, who had the seat of power at that time.

  139. but, You think that the religious leaders would be on

  140. their side, right? They would be speaking truth to

  141. power and emboldening the Israelites.

  142. No absolutely not the Pharisees last week's Tech said went out

  143. and immediately held counsel with the herodians against

  144. Jesus, I'm how to destroy him. Whoa.

  145. The Pharisees are so corrupt that they see a man doing

  146. Miracles by definition. You can not do a miracle by

  147. human power. There's no Photoshop.

  148. There's no deep fakes. There's no way to fake.

  149. What Jesus was doing it. Had to come from God.

  150. And when the Pharisees saw this, they still said, we need to kill

  151. this man. In John chapter 3, Nicodemus,

    John 3 chapter mention

  152. even tells Jesus to his face, we know that you are from God,

  153. because no man can do what? Are doing and the Pharisees, the

  154. religious leaders, the ones who are supposed to be shepherding,

  155. the people of Israel. They say, let's kill this man.

  156. We can't deal with this, it's like restarting computer.

  157. Let's just get the next one from God because we don't like this

  158. current one. But also they couldn't just not

  159. trust the government officials that the religious leaders, they

  160. were plagued by sickness. It says for he had healed many

  161. so all that had diseases pressed around him.

  162. There is every indication this text that.

  163. The main reason that people want to go and see Jesus is not

  164. because they think he's the coming Messiah but because they

  165. know that they can be healed in his presence by simply touching

  166. Him and think about that, there's no hospitals.

  167. There's no modern medicine. These people.

  168. If you lose a hand, you lose your livelihood.

  169. If you become a leopard, you are an outcast.

  170. You have to go to new communities, you have to find

  171. ways to feed yourself. That would include begging or

  172. being a burden on your family. And not only this.

  173. But the unclean spirits whenever they saw him, they fell down

  174. before him. Do you means are not new and

  175. Mark and when they're going to be mentioned again.

  176. So I want to speak to the the personal side of that.

  177. Man is made in the image of God. Every man is and Israel, in this

  178. moment is is God's chosen people.

  179. So when a demon possesses an animates, a human body that is

  180. enough front to the kingdom of God.

  181. That is an affront to God's image and man and the demons are

  182. running amuck throughout the nation of Israel.

  183. So that people are not able to exercise them or cast them out.

  184. People are not able to control their children, the the fathers

  185. of their family. There's places where children

  186. would be casting themselves into Fires.

  187. Because that's what the demon had told them to do.

  188. There are places where men are chained up like animals because

  189. they just didn't know what to do with them and this is what the

  190. great crowd had among them. They had demons possessing them,

  191. they had sicknesses plaguing each and every day they had the

  192. religious leaders going against them and roam.

  193. This overshadowing of them, not having the glory not having what

  194. was promised to David, a throne that would go on forever and

  195. ever and I'm sure at that moment as this Barn moshpit got

  196. together, there was Hopelessness there was sadness and there was

  197. just a spark of this man named Jesus Christ.

  198. I was before him and how does Jesus respond as the crowd

  199. presses around him. He tells his disciples to have a

  200. boat ready. Whoa.

  201. A cause Jesus. Nothing to heal these people.

  202. It costs, Jesus. Nothing to cast out the demons

  203. from these people. And he had to have a boat ready

  204. to be offshore. Frontier.

  205. Do you feel this? Do you feel the despite the work

  206. that you put in to follow Jesus? That he's just offshore?

  207. In a boat and avoiding being crushed.

  208. Does it feel like Jesus is in the boat today?

  209. when your child isn't developing, the way that that

  210. would be normal that you want them to is Jesus just often

  211. about When every moment of your day has an overcast of anxiety,

  212. of depression of physical pain is Jesus, just, you know,

  213. avoiding being crushed. when you attend a funeral that should

  214. have been decades from now, It's Jesus just often about when the

  215. doctor says, oh it was a miscarriage, but don't worry.

  216. This happens all the time and it would you can get back and it's

  217. Jesus in the boat. When the world around you feels

  218. like it's descending into war and political spiral is Jesus in

  219. the boat when you are a three-year-old and all you want

  220. is a hug from this man that you've heard so much about.

  221. Is Jesus and about. Frontier.

  222. I want to give you freedom to ask that question.

  223. But I'm not here to leave you with questions.

  224. What I'm here to do is to tell you what the Bible says, about

  225. Jesus being in the boat. It's not the Jesus was afraid to

  226. be crushed in that moment. It's that it wasn't the crowds

  227. place to crush him that responsibility belong to God.

  228. The Father I'm going to read from Isaiah chapter 53, 10

    Isaiah 53 chapter mention

  229. through 12, and we're going to get through this, but the Lord

  230. desired to crush him, him being Jesus causing him.

  231. Jesus grief, if he would render himself as a guilt offering, he

  232. will see his offspring. He will prolong his days and the

  233. good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in his hand.

  234. God needed to crush. Jesus, the crowd did not have

  235. that, right? As a result of the Anguish of

  236. Jesus Soul, he will see it and be satisfied by his knowledge.

  237. The righteous one. My servant will justify the many

  238. for. He will bear their wrongdoings,

  239. he will take their sins onto him.

  240. Therefore, I will allot him a portion with the great and he

  241. will divide the plunder with the strong because he poured out his

  242. life unto death and was counted with wrongdoers yet, he himself

  243. bore the sin of many. Me and interceded for the

  244. wrongdoers, what does this mean? I'm so glad we saying how great

  245. thou art and when I think that God his son, not sparing, sent

  246. him to die. I scarce can take it in because

  247. God the Father crushed Jesus on the cross.

  248. Jesus. No longer needs to reside in the

  249. boat because God the Father crushed Jesus on the cross.

  250. Jesus is now at the right hand of God, interceding for you, You

  251. giving you access to the father. What does that mean in this

  252. life? You are the body of Christ.

  253. If you are in Christ, that means that when Casey told Calvin that

  254. Christ is currently interceding for you.

  255. At the right hand of the throne I should have said, well we are

  256. the church. We are the body of Christ.

  257. Give Calvin a hug right now because hands, arms and chest

  258. are part of the body. And that's all that's needed for

  259. a hug. What that means is that child of

  260. God, when you die, you will see Christ face-to-face.

  261. There will be no boat there. There will just It'd be him

  262. saying to you. Well done, good and faithful

  263. servant and child of God, there is one last hope and I'm going

  264. to end on this one that as I start with this this idea of

  265. Jesus departing, I want to leave you with the idea of him

  266. returning from Revelation 21 verses 1 through 7.

    Revelation 21:1–7

  267. Then I saw a new Heaven and a new Earth for the first Heaven.

  268. And the first Earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.

  269. Isn't that funny? The sea was no more.

  270. Like I don't think that's referring to Jesus getting in

  271. the boat but it's really dang, convenient for me.

  272. And I saw the holy city, the New Jerusalem coming down out of

  273. Heaven, from God prepared as a bride adorned for her husband

  274. and I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, Behold The

  275. Dwelling Place of God is with, man He will dwell with them and

  276. they will be his people and God himself will be with them as

  277. their God. There's no more boat, there's no

  278. more distance, no price will be face-to-face with you, and those

  279. end days. He will wipe away every tear

  280. from their eyes and Death Shall be no more neither shall there.

  281. Be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore for the former things

  282. have passed away Frontier. If you haven't met him yet, you

  283. will. And I pray that you meet him as

  284. friend in that moment and not as enemy.

  285. Because he who is Seated on the throne said, behold.

  286. I'm making all things new also. He said, write this down for

  287. these words are trustworthy and true.

  288. And he said to me, it is finished.

  289. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning, and the end to

  290. the Thirsty, I will give from the spring of Water of Life

  291. without payment, the one who conquers will have his Heritage

  292. and I will be his God and he will be my son, child of God,

  293. the one who was crushed for your iniquities has to, Declared that

  294. his dwelling place is with you. God.

  295. I'm so excited to one day. See Calvin hugging you and Lord.

  296. I pray that each person in this church will get to hug you

  297. someday also Jesus name amen. God.

  298. I'm so excited to one day. See Calvin hugging you and Lord.

  299. I pray that each person in this church will get to hug you

  300. someday also Jesus name amen.
