Crickets. I love to hear crickets break. How many of
-
you love a braggart? Does anybody know what a braggart is?
-
Someone that brags.
-
On themself incessantly all of the time. Every time you're
-
around them, they're bragging on themselves. I don't want to
-
preach a sermon that holding goes child boasting of what
-
he has done, boasting of what he has done. May
-
I direct your attention to Romans chapter number three, Verse
-
number twenty seven. Brother Nathaniel Luke, chapter number ten, Verses
-
number seventeen through twenty, and Brother Jesse Judges chapter number
-
seven and verse number two, And Brother Caleb wrotecap first Corinthians,
-
chapter number one and verse number thirty one.
-
Brother Nathaniel again Luke, Chapter.
-
Number ten, Verses number seventeen through twenty, Brother Jesse Judges,
-
Chapter number seven, verse number two, and Brother Caleb one
-
Corinthians one, Verse number thirty one. Brother Nathaniel, would you
-
read those verses of scripture tonight? And the seventy returned
-
again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject
-
unto us through thy name. And he said, unto them,
-
I beheld Satan's light and and fall from heaven. Behold,
-
I give under you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and.
-
Over all the power of the enemy. And nothing shall
-
by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not
-
that the spirits are subject unto you, but rather rejoiced because.
-
Your name is written in heaven a man. Seventy people
-
came back boasting. Seventy people came back boasting about things
-
that they were doing. But it was not of themselves,
-
It was of God. I'm gonna follow a mental outline tonight.
-
The first point of that outline will be don't boast
-
in man.
-
The second point will be to boast in God. So
-
you hold on to that as we move forward.
-
Brother Jesse Judges chapter number seven and verse number two.
-
Lord said, I'm the Gideon.
-
The people that are with thee are too many for
-
me to give the immedi and knots into their hands.
-
Lett Israel vault themselves that gives me, saying mine own
-
hand has saved me. Did y'all hear that preve the
-
latter part of that verse again, Brother Jesse, lets Israel
-
vault themselves against me, saying mine own hand had saved me.
-
God was concerned that Gideon and the troops would glory
-
in their military prowess and might, and so God downsized
-
the size of the army to make sure he got
-
the glory. He deserves the glory. I feel like giving
-
him praise and glory tonight. He's deserving of every bit
-
of it. Brother Caleb first corrected into chapter number one
-
and worse number thirty one that according as it has written,
-
he that gloriouth let him glory in the Lord. All right,
-
let's stand for the reading of our golden texts Romans
-
chapter number three and.
-
Verse number twenty seven.
-
May we do as brother Caleb just read of the
-
scriptures to us tonight, May we glory in all things
-
in our precious Lord, Romans three and twenty seven. It says,
-
where is boasting?
-
Then? Of what have we to boast?
-
On my end?
-
Of what have we to boast?
-
Where is boasting? Then it is excluded by what law
-
of works? Nay, but by the law of faith. May
-
we pray Heavenly Father, we love him, We praise thank you.
-
We thank you for the opportunity to come to your house.
-
I thank you for these wonderful people. As far as
-
I know, they're wonderful God. Their heart condemns them Your
-
greater than their heart.
-
And to bless them and help them.
-
I pray, and knowing this, thy servant said a God
-
at my mouth, and help me to do those things
-
that you would have me do, to say the things
-
that you would have me to say, Lord, And know
-
what the ears of this thy people, that they might
-
hear what it is the spirit that God says though
-
to the church. Tone not of my words, but if
-
your words.
-
I pray God, that the sayings will go below the shoulders.
-
Let them get in that heart, saturate the soul and
-
the spirit. I pray, Lord, it's not by our mind
-
or by our power, but by your spirit.
-
We need the Holy Ghost in this hour. I pray
-
that we.
-
Would depart this place joyfully and not sorrowfully. And Jesus'
-
name in the church says, Amen, look at your neighbors.
-
You're being seated, and say, a neighbor, what do you
-
have to brag about? Put one hand on that hippo say,
-
I'll let you know. I can brag on my Jesus.
-
That's right. How many of them.
-
Fill I bragging on Jesus here tonight praise the Lord
-
made you boast in the Lord.
-
Our text is found in a New Testament book of
-
the Holy Bible. The Book of Romans, is an epistle
-
of the beloved Apostle Paul.
-
At the time of this writing, Paul desired to visit
-
the saints in Rome. And for whatever reason, I'm sure
-
the scripture offers a reason, For whatever reason, he had
-
not got there yet, And even though he had not
-
got there yet, his body had not yet walked through
-
the streets and the corridors of this city of Rome,
-
for whatever reason was in his heart to be there,
-
even though he had not stepped a foot on the
-
soul of that country. How many tonight are desirous to
-
step into that heavenless city, New Jerusalem, you know, the
-
brand new city of Peace. This epistle is addressed to
-
all that be enrolled, be loved of God, called to
-
be saints. Is how the Apostle addressed them all in Rome,
-
called to be saints. If you turn to the sixteenth
-
chapter of this book, you will find the names of
-
some of these saints.
-
Some of these names are easy to pronounce, while other
-
names are almost impossible to pronounce correctly. Some names are
-
recognizable to the Bible student and the Bible reader, while
-
others are.
-
Mysterious to us. Who are these people?
-
They must have been significant players within the early Church.
-
For them to have been named by the Great.
-
Apostle Paul, who had not yet met all of these individuals.
-
They must have been.
-
Significant people in the Church at Rome, even though their
-
life is a mystery to us. The Holy ghosts, for
-
some reason put special emphasis.
-
On their name. You remember a little while ago that
-
one of our brothers read.
-
A context that talked about us rejoicing that our name
-
is written in heaven.
-
There's about seventy people.
-
Here tonight, and I don't know that anybody can say that.
-
Your name, as in the name that represents.
-
You, the identifier name you share the name of some
-
biblical character, but.
-
Your name, which is their name, and because it's their name.
-
It's in the Bible.
-
Yesterday's sister Howell, she approached me and she looked at
-
me and with loving eyes, she said, I've been wanting
-
to tell you something for about thirty years.
-
She said, you have the coolest name.
-
I said, I thought that ever since I was a child,
-
the name Jeremy. It's just a cool name. I went
-
to Pigeonthorges about ten years ago, and there was this uh,
-
what do you call those lumber jack And when they
-
announced his name, they said Jeremy. And when they said that,
-
I thought, that's the coolest name. And then I realized,
-
wait a minute, that's my name. And I remember when
-
I was a young boy in the Church of God.
-
Sometimes we would walk outside and there was this boy
-
that was a big rebellious that did.
-
Not come to church very often.
-
But they would say, hey, Jeremy as he swung the
-
numb chucks around his limbs, around his legs, and around
-
his arms and around his head, and I thought, that
-
is the clost name.
-
Wait a minute, that's my name.
-
And so we're saying that the prophet Jeremiah are also
-
known as the prophet Jeremy, had a cool name. And
-
it's good to know that my name not because of
-
who I am, not because of my reputation in the
-
Horness movement, not because of my reputation as.
-
A believer in the year twenty twenty.
-
Four, not because of my reputation as a spouse, has a.
-
Father, has a grandfather.
-
But my name is found in the book and it's
-
wonderful to be able to say that our name may
-
not be written in the KJT the King James translation,
-
but that our names are written in.
-
Heaven somewhere, someplace.
-
I believe in a book somewhere, that the divine recorder
-
has recorded our name there as blood Bob Christians. And
-
one of our brothers read that context, and the text said,
-
you shouldn't reach us. He said, first, greatly, because your
-
name is written in heaven. And but let me prestat
-
you to count the names in that sixteenth chapter of
-
this book, and you'll probably find between twenty five or thirty.
-
I did not have the time to count all of
-
the names of people that were mentioned by the Apostle Paul.
-
Now he had not yet been there, but he named
-
some of these people that were there. Among those recognizable
-
names are the names of Priscilla and Aquila.
-
They weren't married.
-
Most of you will remain with them as fellow companions
-
in ministry travel partners with the Apostle Paul. They were
-
solved mates. They were married and bonded together through Jesus,
-
and they were all sub binded to God's men. These
-
soul mats had developed a friendship.
-
With the Great Apostle Paul.
-
And according to other scriptures and set at times they
-
worked together.
-
Meaning this married couple worked.
-
With the Apostle Paul as tip makers in order to
-
supplement their income because of the offerings in ministry they
-
would not suppossor. And then we find other times when
-
they were making converts, other times they were ministry with.
-
The Apostle Paul. They had a.
-
Togetherness with the Great Apostle. In that chapter we read
-
about saints who may administry evidently in obscurity against some
-
of these names are almost impossible for the country boy
-
and the country girl to pronounce. There's names of men
-
and there's names of women. You'll notice that the women
-
were not ignored. And I hear crickets among the free
-
Holiness movement and the Independent Holiness movement, these women were
-
not ignored. In fact, if we'll be honest, we'll notice
-
the most of the time when the names Priscilla and
-
Aquila were mitching, Priscilla's name was mintioned first.
-
This is clearly indiculatet that she.
-
Evidently had a greater measure of the spirit of God
-
in her life.
-
I'm sure she did not usurp authority in that household.
-
But this was a woman who apostle pop fed. It
-
important to mention her name of first.
-
Now you to know here tonight, Pa, wherever your name
-
is falling in the lineup has everything to do with
-
how quickly you signed up and how soon you sewed.
-
After thirty five years ago, let walked the steric, took
-
the name.
-
Of Starring behind the name of Wada.
-
They are celebrated thirty five years of marriage.
-
Thirty years ago, in this not charity.
-
Howell took the last name Howell and placed it behind charity.
-
She replaced the name Bassard with the name Howwell.
-
Thirty something years ago. Listen the natural in the spiritual.
-
Thirty five years ago, Iris Lynn.
-
Room went to.
-
Churchill lade her Burmans on the altar and walked out
-
with the last name Christ, Shaman the pride of Christ.
-
It does not shop there. It gets even better. Hey,
-
thirty years.
-
Ago, your pastor walked into a.
-
Revival service and wriggled into the back to you and
-
it's lifeless forever change and Jeremy Howell to call the
-
last name Christ. Now I'm asking somebody to know and question,
-
is your name or written it? Pity is you ought
-
to rejoice he into that. I want to correct and
-
chestise her a few people tonight through love.
-
I know that our names are written in heaven. I
-
know that we became new.
-
Creatures in Christ Jesus, and a radical transformation took place
-
in our life.
-
We had theary live to do with that.
-
I cannot so who had nothing to do with it?
-
But Trump parter in that transformation? This minister all he
-
needed was a will in mind to let Jesus take
-
control of.
-
Your life and for you to take a new name
-
that by the.
-
Said that every believer receives a new name in heaven.
-
That name that is written.
-
It's not cheering me, Howell, It's not our lynn cheerity
-
hell Lynn Howell and trusting. The tin wrote tact I
-
don't know what they have named me over under. I
-
know Jesus say was training giveing people nicknames.
-
And whatever the name is, Kidne, whatever new neighbor he
-
is kill it is enough.
-
I thought it.
-
Somebody tonight who can have her her name change, and
-
when it takes place, you a glory upon God, just
-
as Apostle Paul did when his name was changed.
-
Her from Saul.
-
Don't call me sala anymore the references to my former life.
-
They call me Paul, and I want somebody to know.
-
Here the night they're up to me a new name
-
written down in glory, and it should be Roll. What's
-
keeping you from signing up? What's keeping you from saying?
-
This time next month, one month ago, in August of
-
twenty twenty four, I became part of the bride of Christ.
-
What is it that is keeping you from becoming part
-
of the family of God?
-
Why which you suffer at misery? Will you serve God
-
at a guilty distance? Why would you choose to go
-
to hell? And why would you choose misery over the
-
mercy of the Master?
-
You see, these people would minister together.
-
There was a togetheredness, and there was a like mindedness,
-
and they were willing to die for their muster, and
-
they were.
-
Willing to die for one another.
-
It appears to me that even though Paul had met
-
Oquila and Priscilla, and he could testify of their good
-
folks and their good deeds. He could speak their testimony
-
better than anybody.
-
And there's other women of significance and.
-
Other men of prominence in that same chector who brother Nathaniel.
-
Apparently their reputation had been their forerunner.
-
I'm telling somebody in this building tonight.
-
Your reputation. It's very important.
-
It's very important what.
-
The Cinnerman is saying when he had suns her ashens
-
on the tribe. It's very important what your lost family
-
thinks about it. You whatever you are to pay the reunion.
-
If your standard changes for the imput they know you're
-
a hypocritic, and they know you're not touch.
-
I'm telling somebody.
-
Here, right here in this building, your name is important.
-
And yes, your name it's written down, and glory that's
-
somebody answer in this building. I don't believe that their
-
name is written there, because the ghost thinks that should
-
not boast about. And some even gird a ghost in
-
their liberty to sin. Some even bosta in their liberty
-
to their direct to touch.
-
You need to to the word of the In one
-
particular instance, the apostle Paul received some airmail from a
-
little birdie that brought it to him.
-
Well, he was pitting some words to him the parchment
-
and penning some words.
-
Brother Jeremiah Apostle.
-
Paul noted that word has come from one of the
-
churches to me. And I've just interviewed somebody at my
-
desk and they say, some of the things that's going on.
-
In the church is not company.
-
It's unacceptable, it's not proper for Christians to be doing.
-
And Apostle Paul said, you're glorying in this situation is
-
not good. You boasted about this man being in his
-
sin and you being merciful as ministers, and.
-
You accepting this, and you acting like you're working with.
-
Him for six months to twelve months, and you being
-
permissible in this.
-
You remember another place in.
-
Scripture except for us not to be partakers of another
-
man's sin.
-
I am poor working for people, working with people.
-
Also that I know that after twelve months, they have
-
decided whether or not there be a Christian Yes, I
-
speaking of intelligent adults.
-
I know that you are enough. They learn and.
-
In time they decide whether or not they're gonna serve God.
-
But you bring somebody off that street and let them
-
hear a preacher prea.
-
Three times aneka, and let them read their Bible seven
-
days a week, multiple times a day.
-
Let him pray lock Dan you'll did three times a day.
-
Let him praying for their food.
-
Conviction with karma unless than six months time they will
-
be karma a new creature. Yes, Tom will work within
-
know that thing.
-
I don't learn.
-
Everything over night, but you can tell that they're calling
-
in the right direction. Man, I'm telling somebody man in
-
this fielding tonight, that there was a church.
-
That was probbing.
-
Yourself and allow an open sina to go along there
-
in the congregation in a post A pointed girl that
-
you allow would do that. He said, bishopal you want
-
a name that they hold man church discipline.
-
Man, you came in accent what.
-
Litania talked about this sunny that's communication.
-
Man.
-
The man was dismissed because Paul said, hey, you're going
-
you're boasting that.
-
In this cel.
-
It's not to it that you got nothing about about man.
-
That's what I wanted to title that this message tonight.
-
He got nothing about about. But the holy girl said,
-
man posted in what he has done, Man into tonight basting.
-
Of what he has done? Why do you stand.
-
There countless tidle, say, riding under miss Obenius.
-
Then how you're getting died? Brother christ on time left?
-
You just see it.
-
Oh, that's nothing up post about, that's nothing about direct
-
us on bet us to todd As, reproach me, reproach me.
-
I feel the holy ghosts pas.
-
Why it was spilled countless hours trying to justify Seas.
-
Why the professor Christians?
-
They're not possessors, they're professors.
-
So these people in.
-
That sixteenth chapter, twenty five to thirty people, brother before
-
I didn't have time to pinpoint. It counted some time
-
and let me murder. There's a lot of names written
-
in that chapter. And you notice an Apostle Paul for
-
those that don't like name calling in church, Apostle Paul
-
had no problem whatsoever calling names. I know your performer
-
pastor that had the backbone of a rentworm, And I
-
don't have anybody in.
-
Mind right now. That's just something I felt like saying.
-
They have taught you that it's not politically correct or
-
appropriate to call names now, Apostle Paul said, Alexander, unless
-
you get confused with what I'm saying and what I'm
-
putting in writing, he said, yeah, you know him.
-
The copper smith.
-
Well, at that point everybody knows who's handling the copper
-
and who is smithing the copper, and I want you
-
to know he know who is handling.
-
He the word of talk de sepre left. We named
-
him by name.
-
We know things that practice aint the works of their
-
own hands. Lest I shut on the bear, dona try.
-
It's not at all to cry about it. Why can'ts
-
he boast?
-
Oh, my goodness, I.
-
Will I have limerity to smoke a joint every now
-
and then? Know you know, know ye not?
-
That your body is the temple of the holy ghosts?
-
Will I have liberty? The FDA kate know you don't?
-
You need to look at the sixth chapter of the
-
Book of First Corinthians. Apostle Paul, the head of the
-
New Testament Church of his day.
-
He's telling the bishop put it out.
-
The bishops of today would say to Aaron words of
-
Moses would not have said. They would say, put them
-
golden calves in a display case in the vestibule, in
-
a remind us of our past, in a remind us
-
of our stumbling. It a remind us of our faults.
-
It all remind us of our failures. It'll postle, Ah,
-
it's not something to boast amountain. This should be nobody
-
building a memorial for failure. I've heard people before saying
-
I had more passive and more power when.
-
I was taxing with a dample than I do now.
-
There ain't something something wrong. There's something not right up about.
-
Pata grew up. I have more passable now see, and
-
more power now that he chains.
-
For They say, look at this calf I built. Look
-
at this calf then air it allowed and permitted. You'll
-
see that the apostle, Paul for bade boasting. It was
-
not going to be tolerated. It was not going to
-
be accepted. It's totally unacceptable behavior.
-
Brother nathanuel them to boast in themself. But there is
-
a good boasting.
-
Also, there's a bad boasting, and there is a good boasting.
-
Paul made it clear that these believers should not boast
-
about themselves. What about the preacher that goes over there,
-
It stands really closer to some visiting preacher, or stands
-
close to some visitor, her new member, just.
-
Leaning her on a path on the back, leaning.
-
On approval, applause and affirmation. They feel so good when
-
somebody says that with great preaching, they just.
-
Want to hear it.
-
They feel better when they hear her somebody say something
-
about them. I will say that the Bible did say
-
it's better for somebody else to say it that for
-
you to say it yourself. One time Paul asked her
-
to be excused. He said, I need a boaster a
-
little bit. I was a parsne now concerning the load
-
of her, I was famelesser.
-
He felt bad about his own horn. He felt bad.
-
About talking about the implacability off his life within the
-
religion head or.
-
To their listen and life.
-
You do not feel bad about talking about today left
-
and about the disons.
-
How do you say?
-
That's an opsone?
-
He let go see him.
-
I'd be too ashamed to boast that I had a
-
social drinker. I'd be too a sham to us touch.
-
I'm trying to church kids up the smoke her trying
-
to man, Are you Tracy?
-
I said?
-
Are you crazy? Again? Plead to yourself and the devil
-
in church?
-
Are you man?
-
Are you insane? Apostle? Paul said, self promotion.
-
Is forbidden because that its root is pride, arrogance.
-
Nobody likes a bragrant.
-
Again, our mental outline point number one, don't boast in man,
-
secondly to boast in God. And so Paul made it
-
clear that these believers should not boast about themselves. Look
-
at your neighbor and say, hey, neighbor, don't boast on yourself,
-
hey man. In Judges, chapter number seven and verse number
-
two one of our context, our dear brother read that
-
to us tonight.
-
In the seventh chapter of.
-
Judges, we see that God selected chosen men. Gideon needs
-
to assembol an army, and he gets a lot of volunteers.
-
He gets a lot of people that would be willing
-
to walk around with old medals around their nets. I've
-
heard that the United States has won more medals than
-
any other country.
-
That's a good thing, is it not.
-
They say that the Olympic Games have always historically been
-
indicative of the power of one street as a nation,
-
meaning that apparently our military and our economics and our
-
society would be stronger than those that have been posted
-
up against us. I'm glad that we brought home more
-
ton medals and overall more medals than the neighboring country.
-
I think the country next to us was China.
-
And there was some thirty or forty medals shorter, and
-
the United States have brought nearly one hundred medals home
-
to the shore.
-
So do you know there's a lot of boasting going over.
-
There's a lot of widen the glone and in the
-
sea over the ground chips are going on.
-
But how many reports here have you seen her to.
-
Read at When somebody said he I learned the Bible
-
sin that beauty is vain. The Bible syndic get much
-
glory to the street of a man's lets, it also
-
said her, they body exercises properly is little.
-
Oh no, they're doing the opposite. They're boasting and what
-
they need.
-
They put their medals to and they're pictures and pages
-
of social media. They're self promoted. Theoking contracts her. They're
-
getting out the cosmics. I'm telling you, they're boasting her about.
-
What they've done. The church should be different than that.
-
When we come to churchill in are head to down
-
that we ought to PreTect him heads.
-
Upper and saying her.
-
After boost in my tongue, I'm telling you that, yes,
-
there's a lot to an Olympic crater. After leads her. Oh,
-
the United States set they are more than conquerors. But
-
Gideon God told him, Doc told Edion her we're got
-
a down sousand and we're gonna damn there because everybody
-
knows that when a constant Israel, god Head and Hand
-
were equal persons, her Israel's gonna win.
-
I want you to know her. Sometimes God, jitza, your
-
let's not proving Yell. They get sit down to show
-
you who ain't in up.
-
Hold here, hold your hen't killing somebody were militant.
-
Don't got about a long way, y'all pray for him.
-
He's been about three weeks as a preach. I need
-
to ward.
-
I'll feel they are going to the spirits with him
-
and put a little bit weak. It don't seem like
-
I'm struggling, but I need them.
-
Will I need to win?
-
A ask God every time I work out of that service,
-
breathe on the ho Negotia. I said, ain't they were
-
facing thirty two thousand many night soldiers something like that.
-
There's just thousands of people that they're facing. And God
-
begins to thremble the size of the army down. And
-
I don't have time to preach on how he did it,
-
but he did it. And I believe the military size
-
of that group got The size of that military group
-
got down to was it three hundred men? Three hundred
-
against tens of thousands of people. You know why God
-
downsize that Israel army to a number of three hundred
-
force to troops. I'm telling the three hundred troops and
-
get in to acknowledge him. They wanted God's attention and
-
God wanted their attention. I'm trying to tell somebody here tonight.
-
Sometimes God will cause you to be handicapped or crippled
-
because you have not given him the praise that he deserved.
-
You're crippled. Now you're disabled.
-
Now what are you gonna wait till you get handy
-
tip every there? Or you're gonna link till you get
-
don't cripple? Sometimes caught down size and up and down
-
trains us to get us to recognize our victory comes.
-
Thank God.
-
I'll tell us somebody in this dude, you're letting get
-
high up the praiser if you don't.
-
Get lowered up to praises, I'll tell somebody you come
-
in in this church and you tun to us.
-
We speak with the tongues of angels, and that they
-
approve it. The approvation in the pos and some people.
-
But the next service you're don and the death couldn't
-
be a don't touching down. You know you wants you
-
to praise it when you've been downsized. We want to
-
be upsizing, brother sadel If you're listening to this, you
-
may be flat on your back, but you throw them
-
hands up and you change the world. And they may
-
think we're outwitted, out manned, and out uh, but we
-
ain't help God.
-
Don't tell you that I.
-
Love what I feel in my soul right here tonight,
-
God was shrinking the size of the army.
-
What if God starts shrinking the size of your praise.
-
I used to can praise him with two orange and
-
two hands, but elim only got one arm in one hand.
-
What if God allows you to lose outside one eye?
-
What if God allows you to lose hearing in one ear?
-
I can hardly hear it in my right here anymore.
-
Some of you know that, some of you don't. I'm
-
telling somebody right here in this building here the natural
-
handicap this no excuse.
-
Not so whippo, you said, turning that excuse into an example. Now,
-
I don't pizza an excuse or an example.
-
I'm telling us. Somebody tell you. I'm tell us saying, well, now,
-
tell it's not the willer tied. The I may take
-
hand in that.
-
That's exactly right, exactly right. I said that in his
-
book Come he.
-
Set us not that power, but not my stare say it.
-
The Lord Gods always here's the little things, I said,
-
Todd has all like to be up here. The letter.
-
Jeremiah the prophet in his day he was preaching and
-
telling people, stop boasting and what you've become in God.
-
Stop boasting and what you possess.
-
The Bible said, a man's life consisted not in the
-
abundance of things that he possess. Stop acting preacher like
-
you got what you got because you deserved it. It
-
is the gift of God. If my brother preaches good, great.
-
If my son preaches good, great, If all of my
-
son's preach good, great. If whatever preaches good, what's a
-
both and the others preach good three times a month.
-
That's great.
-
Just get anerten a hold kind and forget about being little.
-
Ask the little man with a lunch spots. Can God
-
do something else with a little? I said, God, talk some.
-
He said, keep solvent. When you were little, I could
-
do something great.
-
But when you said that, busting from your sapa.
-
And sat promoting.
-
I had a problem with it.
-
The bottle said, before honor is humility.
-
Humble people are honorable people, and before they become honorable people,
-
they will be humble people. I feel like I could
-
preach two hourish to it. I'm telling somebody in this building,
-
it is not of your mc Jeremiah had told him
-
the same thing that the Apostle Paul told the believers
-
in the New Testament Church. They had all said the
-
same thing. You've gotten to stop boasting on yourself. You've
-
got to stop tooting that own what persecution was coming.
-
Apostle Paul desired to go to Rome, and he wouldn't
-
go to Rome. But when he pinned the words of
-
this epistle and he sent out, Nero had been empowered
-
to loan. And if I remember correctly, it was several
-
years after the recipients of this epistle had read it
-
and put the doctrine of this epistle in the practice
-
and in the plane, before Nero started persecuting the church,
-
Apostle Paul gave them this Book of Romans, the Epistle
-
to Romans, because he knew what was coming.
-
We talked this morning about structure in the church. That
-
a road cap told me out to church.
-
He texted me, said, Pastor, as you were instructing us,
-
I realized that the words structure is in instruction. And
-
he said, your instructions structure in the church. And I
-
put a lot of emphasis on structure. And that's what
-
we appreciate about the writings of the Apostle Paul that
-
gave structure has turned doctor to the infratucture incorrect. In
-
one place, Tad Paul told that the Church of correct
-
you should not be busting her. And here he is
-
telling the believer's involvement, you should not be busting that
-
he knows he is.
-
Just in the distributure, there is a Nero's chop loot
-
coming to serpents.
-
Just in the immediate future, there is a solar coming
-
to view. There's about to be persecution in the church.
-
They're about to cut hands off. In fact, Apostle Paul,
-
those let nobody else knows.
-
I'm going to Rome to die.
-
Now.
-
You may be living to treat her in the life
-
right now in Rome, but I know toosday is coming now.
-
I said, I none to selling my god Nero, that's.
-
Just on the horizon. You better the sound ns, then
-
let's stop busting.
-
Would you wake up and see that you're lost.
-
Would you wake up and see that the headhunters have
-
always come for Christians, cowards and the service they would
-
find no place? So Apostle Paul writes this beautiful epistol.
-
If you study it, brother Caleb, you will see that
-
he's basically stating the change is inevitable. Change is coming.
-
I said it this morning. Change is not coinage that
-
you put in your pocket. Change is something that you embrace.
-
That changes you.
-
These believers needed structure, they needed sound doctrine. Paul hadn't
-
even met her an end of the mailbox, by courier
-
comes a letter and they open it up, and Paul
-
wants to make it clearer. I recognize that wonderful things
-
are happening here at the Church of Romeme.
-
But I gotta tell you the same thing Jerman told Jerusalem.
-
I gotta tell you the same thing I Paul told
-
the Church of corint I gotta tell you better stuff
-
that braggon.
-
You better stuff, thinking.
-
You're better than everybody else, are bigger, and then everybody
-
else are better than everybody else.
-
They say, the bigger they are the heart of the fall.
-
You see, Paul wanted to make it clear to these
-
saints that they were justified by faith through Jesus Christ.
-
Paul instructed these people, and there was structure in that
-
letter or that epistle. Paul talked to.
-
Roman believers that the Lord Jesus miraculously changed life. As
-
I perused through the Book of Romans this afternoon, I
-
saw that he was a proponent of transformation, and a
-
proponent of the Liberates, and a proponent Oprah.
-
And come on down miracles.
-
In example, Imprah life changing experiences took the trucker and
-
sobered them instantaneously, and took.
-
The attic and made them a brand new man instantaneously.
-
You see, Apostle Paul knew firsthand about such a change
-
he experiences on the road to Damascus.
-
Paul would toss out silindocers of the modern churches of
-
today quickly. He would toss out this lopsided faith healing garbage.
-
He would toss out this lopsided charismatic movement garbage.
-
He would talk out, toss out all of this stuff.
-
He would preach divine heathen, but he wouldn't preach it lopsidedly.
-
He would preach, I'm telling you prosperity for the soul,
-
and then he would say, I wish that you would
-
prosper as your soul prospers.
-
But he made no promises.
-
You find that he was a proponent that the church
-
should expect and anticipate persons.
-
You should at any time it's eminent, it's about to happen.
-
Just assures the coming of the Lord. It's about to
-
happen at any time, at any moment.
-
The nation descends against God, the nation that turns her
-
back on God, the nation shap me turned into mail.
-
Paul taught that a Christian, after that they.
-
Are converted, and after they become a member of the
-
Bride of Christ, the part of the family of God,
-
that they do not cease to grow in grace and
-
in the knowledge of the Lord.
-
Say to Jesus Christ.
-
Paul taught that people continue to pursue God. Now this
-
is going to resonate with some of you. When I
-
married Sister Howell, just shout thirty years ago, I didn't
-
cease pursue in charity. Here it is thirty years later,
-
and we're stronger in our relationship than we've ever been.
-
Here it is thirty years later. She's still looking for
-
opportunity to please me. He is thirty years later and.
-
She's still looking for opportunity to improve herself.
-
So why is it different with the Church and Christ
-
Why is it that people feel like after they've been married,
-
after they've experienced salvation, then they just seize or terminate
-
pursuing God. When I'm talking her brother Thomas there at
-
whoever Thomas there, yesterday he said, I've taken my wife
-
out and to celebrate thirty five years of marriage. Isn't
-
that a wonderful accomplishment? And you know what I could
-
tell he is still in pursuit of her love. He
-
is still in pursuit of her affection. He's still in
-
pursuit of her passion, or he would not have been
-
desirous to take her out.
-
And why is it that the Christian.
-
Up today, the Christian and the modern churches of America,
-
after supposedly they're praying when they were eight years old
-
and get baptizing the little baptism and pulling the back
-
by the way peel like they don't have to pursue
-
rxiousness and sake the potation and holiness. In this book
-
of moments, I fell an apostt Park who's killing these
-
by beis getting out. But good lad, now you need
-
to present sake the portation, which is holy living.
-
I thought it all was taken care of. About the crawl.
-
I thought it was all taken care of by the
-
blood bath.
-
I thought I'll prayed when I was hating, it was
-
all taken care of. Okay, marry your wife. Don't come
-
back to see her, and seventy five years later, expect
-
her to know you. Here's what she's gonna say to
-
part from me, You worker of iniquity. I never knew you,
-
you us her, your abuser. Oh my God, I tell
-
the Holy Ghost. Here is how I'm about finished.
-
I just felt a release of the Holy Ghost. If
-
we're gonna get anything out of this here or not,
-
we better narrow right in here and get focused.
-
Paul taught that the Roman believers should expect miraculous changes
-
in their lives.
-
Let's read our text again. Where is boasted?
-
Then?
-
Where is boasted? It is excluded by what law of verts? Nay,
-
but by the law of faith. It's in him we
-
live and move and have our being. It's only by
-
the grace of God we are what we are. Apostle
-
Paul said it wasn't because I paraphrase he was not saying.
-
It was because of his excellent speech, his oratorical abilities,
-
his talents, his reputation.
-
He said, I came in demonstration, and he said, I
-
am what I am by the grace of God.
-
I am what I am today only because thirty years
-
ago love lifted me.
-
I am what I am today only.
-
Because he loved me when I was at my worst.
-
That's what Apostle Paul said. Where is the boasting them
-
for the jesse when you come to the piano?
-
Is that it worked?
-
No, it's by the law of faith. In the Book
-
of Ephesians, in the fourth chapter, the twenty seventh verse,
-
we find the words of the apostle Paul. He said,
-
either give place to the devil. And then in our text,
-
brother Philip, he makes it clear, don't you give place
-
to boast it. Don't you act like the Pharisees.
-
Do that you're better. You will remember they found fault.
-
With Jesus because he ate with publicans like Levi and Zachis.
-
They found fault with Jesus because he ate with republicans
-
and sinners. Now he didn't party with them, he didn't
-
spoke at stoke, He or joint with them. He didn't
-
partake of a social drink for them, he didn't put
-
on his bikini to go with him. He ministered to them.
-
And whenever you could look me in the eye and
-
tell me that you laid out of church on Sunday
-
so you could go down to the beach party where
-
you're coworkers. And when you could tell me you were
-
holy attired and took a holy spirit of a holy
-
God with you, and you left, and you cried, and
-
you called out their sin for what it was, and
-
you loved them enough to tell them the truth, then
-
I'll believe you're a Christian.
-
Don't boast in your sin.
-
The preacher when he preaches against sin, he's not shaming you.
-
You are ashamed of your sin. You were condemned because
-
of your sin. But somebody put the spotlight on your sin.
-
That person isn't trying to shame you or embarrass you.
-
Let's stand.
-
I pull the Holy Good to this special way tonight.
-
This is for somebody particularly.
-
So when it comes to our salvation, sister, when I
-
can't boast of my salvation, the Bible said in Ephesians
-
two eight nine for by grace or ye saved through faith,
-
and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God,
-
not of words. Does that he manhold boast I'm preaching on.
-
What do you have to brag about?
-
To brag is a pumptuous, boastful statement, to speak with
-
pride about something you have done. Picture with the men
-
get the imagery of seventy seemingly well meaning, innocent minded
-
disciples of Jesus.
-
Approach of Jesus, and the Bible said, with great joy.
-
They said, Pastor, Master, Pastor Jesus, Messiah Reba n I,
-
we've been casting out devils in your name. Here incited
-
the Bible said, with joy, we've been doing something. We've
-
been doing something the demon possessed or delivered because we
-
have been doing something. And they said, even the devils
-
are something under year name. They should have realized there's
-
power in the name of Jesus.
-
It wasn't in their name. It wasn't in their nights.
-
He wasn't in the number seventy.
-
Who was in the name.
-
It wasn't in the number. It was in the knave.
-
Now for the Holy gs, we got seventy disciples in
-
the night thank God for the number. But it's not
-
in the number. But this said a name. I'm post
-
because of him.
-
I'm saved because of him, I'm delivered because of him.
-
How no longer back because of him. If you want
-
to talk to lesa tonight, he would cart the multitudes
-
of the masses and say, it's because.
-
Of that man.
-
He loved me at my words, Brother Jeremiah, Oh you know,
-
is dad the hoes preacher?
-
Brother feeling there may be a slot blind on my life.
-
If I've ever failed you one time, it was probably
-
just that one time.
-
God shows you my humanity so that you can't worship me,
-
you worship fail. That's what God did to John the Badness.
-
John the Badness said, why for sue me? Are you
-
the one that came? You know he came?
-
John?
-
You had the holy ghost in your mother's wound. You
-
were ordering heavenly words. You were speaking of heavenly language
-
six months conceived, speaking.
-
Of heavenly language the name of Jesus.
-
There's something about today, But Jesus allows him to go
-
into a prison house.
-
John to John, John, what's wrong with John? I don't
-
even know anymore? Wasn't it fab.
-
Apostle Paul said, less when I preached the authors have
-
found myself a casta.
-
The post proposed said, take not your grist from man,
-
take not your goodness from may. Listen to the bars,
-
and the prison asked John, saying, has it wrong the
-
mice here is he?
-
They couldn't sing the song with soul anymore? And God
-
saw to it that they could sing the song of David.
-
David fell.
-
Because there's watch of missing brother Beauffred. He loved you enough.
-
They haven't. Preacher preached last Sunday morning, very words, the
-
very words.
-
And told to be in private, because he loved Coy
-
beauft It doesn't matter what you've done, It doesn't matter
-
how far have you called him.
-
He loved you, let your worst, and you want your
-
mother not he loves you anymore.
-
And he picked you up when you're and your God
-
he picked you up when he was stewing in iniquity.
-
Apostle Paul said, there was some homosexuals, There was some intimident.
-
There are some porticatus, the us, the nos, but the lost,
-
the lost, all the lot of Jesus, all a lot.
-
Of Jesus, and Jesus told in disciples, He said, don't
-
rejoice in that power of my nighbor.
-
Don't rejoice only to the power of my name.
-
And please don't rejoice in the power of your name
-
and earth. But one thing you can't rejoice in that
-
is that your name's written in heaven. Rejoice in this
-
fact that your name is written in heaven. Going on down,
-
I don't have my Bible.
-
And that's in front of me. But going on down
-
I saw today have my Bible. The next verse, Jesus said, Father,
-
I rejoice, And.
-
Everybody said, I'm glad that you reveal it to the simple.
-
I'm glad you reveal it to the weak.
-
I'm glad you're reveal it to those of ill reputation.
-
I'm glad you picked up Mary because if you.
-
Pick up Mary Magdalene, you know the one.
-
Maybe wonder if seventy testing them all, she's not a
-
less app better because he's never forgetting her match.
-
The Holy ghosts here in this place, this power hid
-
the name. How Jesus.
-
Paul said, stop boasting and your said and start praising
-
the Lord.
-
Rejoice in this that your name is written in heaven.
-
Our salvation is an amazing work of the Lord Jesus.
-
Is it not? Is it not?
-
I have several pages of notes, but I feel a
-
release yet again of the Holy Ghost. To call for
-
an alter.
-
As tears are streaming down faces, and as our hearts
-
are breaking, and as our heart is melting, luck Ice
-
just slide into the altar and just telling God. I
-
didn't come with a complaint box full of complaints.
-
I didn't even come.
-
With a prayer request box full of prayer request I
-
came to that just to say thank you for saving.
-
Me when I didn't even know I was lost. Thank
-
you for coming to look for me.
-
Thank you for suing my soul.
-
Think it's a lot of my name on the roads.
-
Thank you just saving my slings. Thank you for safety
-
for me, Thank you for filling me where the Holy
-
Ghost a.
-
Footh Mom and dad, brother and sister, and you strive
-
to be perfect in Jesus.
-
You strive to be holy. You're doing a great job, sister,
-
how and I have strived to perfect holdiness.
-
We are tried to grow with grace and in the
-
knowledge of the won't say for Jesus Christ.
-
We tried to remain in his lockness. And our children
-
may say there's a lot here.
-
There's a lot there. Every time that happens. Sister Howard
-
and said.
-
Let me go to lacking and let me pray. No,
-
it ain't great sin, No it ain't grow sin.
-
But there's somebody in this building. You look at others
-
and say, look at this, look at that.
-
What I want you to do is look at yourself.
-
Let's take their bob with use it as a means.
-
You say, Jesus, I see myself. I share my shot
-
through the first time tonight, I've seen how the we being.
-
I'll be on the looking about the ship.
-
I'm real study brag because I'm saying I told people
-

-
