-
Rect your attention to the third chapter and the eleventh verse.
-
I get excited whenever God speaks into my heart from
-
the Book of Kings, because when I first started preaching,
-
I preached mostly out of the books of Versus, Second Samuel,
-
and the books of First and Second Kings.
-
There's so much great preaching.
-
As an evangelist, you can really encourage people by pulling
-
stuff up and out of the ministries of Elijah and
-
Elisha and Nowma that I have a past storm ministry.
-
You had to reach into them, Pauline Epistoles and dig
-
and dive a little bit deeper. But there's some really
-
good stuff in here. I know that Man said everything.
-
In the book is good. I agree with that wholeheartedly.
-
But some of it is gooder.
-
Some of it's easier to preach on, for sure, For example,
-
the topic of hell. Truly, if somebody is living right, man,
-
that's a great topic.
-
But if they're not right, that's.
-
Not so good when the preacher preaches on hell. So tonight,
-
I have a burden to preach. I was going to
-
preach on a spiritual blindness, but God redirected me. After
-
I had some tacos this afternoon and I don't know
-
if it was.
-
The Tacos or God.
-
Now I'm kidding, but I was redirected and I was
-
trying to get an ab and God began to deal
-
with me about something.
-
And I want to preach a message the Holy Ghost.
-
Titled you have to pour the water before you pour
-
the word.
-
You have to pour the water before you pour the word.
-
And I was thinking, Lord, what meaneth that?
-
And Brother Jesse got to seeking the Lord and he
-
led me to this tax right here. And it makes
-
all the sense in the world. How many of you
-
want to have an attitude serve it to all? The
-
necessity of servant to servanthood is so important. So many
-
people have forgot about the importance and the value of servanhood.
-
So I want to talk to perhaps a mother, perhaps
-
a daughter, maybe some of these young preachers. I'm not
-
really sure, but I want you to remember this. You
-
have to pour the.
-
Water before you pour the water.
-
All right, Brother Nathaniel saw chapter number thirty seven, first
-
number four, Brother Jesse mark chapter number ten and verse
-
number forty five. I want to say special things that
-
all of those have watched babies during the wedding ceremony.
-
You are miracle workers. I don't know how you did
-
what you did, but that's a workout, sister. How And
-
I had to watch a handful of them a week
-
or two ago. I never did understand why they said,
-
you're glad when they come, and you're glad when they leave.
-
After about two or three.
-
Days, Brother Jesse, then.
-
Little ones can work you out. I'm telling you, work
-
you over, turn you ever which away, but loose. But
-
we love them.
-
But thank you for helping us with all these, little.
-
Brother Nathaniel, Salm chapter number thirty seven and verse number four.
-
Y'all listen to what the Holy go says through the
-
Word of God.
-
Delight thyself also in the Lord, and he shall give
-
thee the desires of thine heart.
-
Now light thyself also in the Lord.
-
And he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
-
Brother Jesse, Mark chapter number ten and verse number forty five,
-
My brother were even the son of Man came not
-
to be ministered unto, but to minister and to give
-
his life a ransom for many. How many of y'all
-
believe that the King of Kings and the Lord of
-
lords put on the road of humanity, took upon himself
-
the form of a servant.
-
He made himself of low estate.
-
And he came down and began to just pour himself
-
out into humanity. All right, let's stand for the reading
-
of our text. Second King's Chapter number three, verse number eleven.
-
The Bible said, But Jehasafat said, is they're not here
-
a prophet of the Lord, then we may inquire of
-
the Lord by him. And one of the King of
-
Israel's servants answered and said, here is Elisha, the son
-
of Schaffat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.
-
Now listen to this. They were wanting to hear something
-
straight out of the throne room of glory. They wanted
-
to hear the voice of the Lord speak directly to them.
-
King Jehasifat wanted to hear the word of God, and
-
his advisers recommended they find the water boy. They said,
-
you know that one that poured water out on the
-
hands of Elijah. You have to pour water before you
-
pour the word. Let's pray Heaven only. Father, we love
-
and we praise you. We thank you God for the
-
opportunity to be in your house with these precious people
-
that are my brothers and sisters in Christ. I'm unworthy
-
to have people of this caliber and capacity as friends
-
and kin people. I pray God that you would bless
-
them in a special way. Set a guard at their
-
ears and help them to hear what you would have.
-
Them to hear.
-
Set a guard at my mouth and help me to
-
say only the things that you would have me say,
-
nothing more or less. I pray that the word of
-
God would go below the shoulder.
-
Let I get in that soul, in that spirit.
-
God, don't let it go in one ear and out
-
the other and trail the world in that mind.
-
And making ancient God.
-
Let it please saturate their heart, and we'll depart this
-
place joyfully and not sorrowfully. In Jesus's name. In the
-
church said Amen, as you're being seated, let's look at
-
our golden text again.
-
Second Kings, chapter number three and verse number eleven said.
-
But Jehashaphat said, is they're not here a prophet of
-
the Lord that we may inquire of the Lord by him?
-
They won't hear a word from the Lord.
-
And one of the King of Israel's servants answered and said,
-
here is Elisha, the son of Shafat, which poured water
-
on the hands of Elijah. They did not reference a miracle.
-
They reference this action of servitude. Our text is found
-
in an Old Testament book of the Holy Bible, the
-
Book of Sacred Kings. As the Bible readers read through
-
this book of the Bible, they read of events and.
-
Happenings that took place after the nation of Israel had
-
been divided.
-
The Bible said that a double minded man is unstable
-
in all of his ways. We find that their double
-
mindedness led to division, disharmony, and discord. The disharmony within
-
the national history of Israel would have been disheartening to those.
-
That loved the Lord.
-
Without a doubt, there was men and women of God,
-
mothers and fathers of Israel that carried the burden that
-
David and Solomon had as they united the twelve tribes
-
of Israel gloriously under the goodness and the grace of God.
-
Brother Nathan was this thing began to unbutton and unzipped
-
and bust apart at the seems.
-
No doubt, there were people that were spending.
-
Countless hours crying over spilled milk.
-
They were praying and thinking about what could have been.
-
My precious brother in law told me yesterday, he said,
-
when you and Charity set out to go into the
-
bell on that mission to pioneer and plan a church,
-
he said, there was something inside of me that hurt me.
-
He said, it did not destroy me, It helped me.
-
He said. I thought, they're doing a work for God.
-
It's a mission and it's God to be okay, but
-
it said, I must admit oftentimes I think about what
-
could have been if me and Amanda had have been
-
with you and Charity. And I thought about the distance
-
between us two and a half hours. That's not a
-
long ways, but it's just far enough to make it
-
inconvenient to get together, especially for two working men and
-
their family. It's hard to devote and commit time for
-
men that are in ministry.
-
He's in ministry.
-
I'm in ministry, and it's almost impossible to get together.
-
But when we get together, we value that time spent together.
-
And I feel like that's how these people that were
-
broken hearted about the separance in the national relationship with
-
one another. Brother Jesse, there is no doubt in my
-
mind whatsoever if your mother had been alive during this time,
-
she would have almost grieved herself to death thinking about
-
what could have and what should have been. And so, sister,
-
one of my favorite characters in the Bible is the
-
prophet of Fire, Elijah.
-
I named him this morning.
-
How many of y'all appreciate the Prophet Elijah. You can
-
tell me a lot of exploits of the Prophet Elijah.
-
It'd be easy to preach a servant titled the Exploits
-
of Elijah. And there is no doubt he gave us
-
many examples of the power and the demonstration of the
-
power of God and how God is able to prevail.
-
And so as we read through this sacred writing, there
-
is a whole lot said about.
-
Elijah the Tishpai.
-
There's also a lot said about his dress standard and
-
his dress code.
-
Truly, he was an eccentric personality.
-
But what I want to bring for you tonight is
-
this that a lot of people overlook the fact that
-
this was a humble man. They overlooked the fact that
-
he spent a lot of his ministry ministering to the least,
-
the lass.
-
And the lordlier.
-
And it is true that his gift made room for
-
himself and because of the power that he had with God.
-
Right here in our text we have an example of
-
how his gift made room for him.
-
He's been invited.
-
Also we find now Elisha, his successor, is being invited
-
into the court room of the courthouse of Jehasaphat, brother Nathaniel.
-
But these men were humble.
-
I want to say that the man of God must
-
practice humility. The Bible said before honor, there must be humility.
-
I know there's a lot of people that are in
-
positions of power. There's people poised to assume rolls of
-
great responsibility and greater positions of power. But Brother Nathaniel,
-
they lack humility. Moses was as a humble man, a
-
meet man, and so was Elijah the Teaspie, and also
-
his successor Elisha.
-
Now I want you to know that these men were
-
in tune and in touch with the Lord. Ben to
-
fill up.
-
Your testimony, really bless my soul tonight as you opened
-
unto us the Word of God and helped us understand
-
the importance of those that are around us and how
-
they influence us. Certainly we are being influenced by others.
-
When we find that Elisha was the servant to the
-
great man of God, Elijah, and no doubt Elijah had
-
a strong influence on the life and the ministry of Elisha.
-
He'll find in the Bible that this man of God, Elijah, ascended.
-
To heaven in a world win.
-
He and Edith both know what it is for God
-
to come down and hijack their lives, take them into
-
the very presence of the lad The Bible said to
-
be absent in the body is to be present with
-
the Lord. Now, y'all think with me of chariots of
-
fire and chariot horses of fire descending down and picking
-
up one of God's men and ushering them into heaven.
-
But there was something going.
-
On in the heart of Elisha that some people suspected
-
was going on. They knew that this man was more
-
than fascinated with the ministry and.
-
The man Elijah.
-
He was fascinated with the spirit of Elijah.
-
Now a lot of people overlooked that.
-
But when Elisha asked the Lord for that double portion
-
so many speak about, he did not say.
-
A double portion of the spirit of God.
-
He said a double portion of the spirit of Elijah.
-
He was not idolizing the man Elijah. That would have
-
been a piction to God. Because these two prophets of God.
-
I would have knew that God is a jealous God.
-
And that nobody could be set on a pedestal and
-
put between them and God, and God not bring down
-
judgment upon whoever's committed by echolotry. And so Elisha he
-
saw something in the life of Elijah that's stuck with him,
-
and Elijah was no doubt the role bottle of servitude
-
in the life of Elisha. You say, what good is
-
it and me doing things around the church?
-
What good is it?
-
And me doing things to help the first lady hearing
-
her daughter's wedding ceremony? What good is it for us
-
to go, when retired to the nursing home and to
-
minister to them salty and seizing saints in there that
-
have been tucked away and forgotten about.
-
I want you to know there's a lot of good
-
in pouring water.
-
One time Jesus was ministry, and as he was this ministry,
-
a man walked by with a water pot. You'll find
-
it in the New Testament that the Lord said, at
-
a certain time, you'll see a man.
-
Going by with a pot of water.
-
There's no doubt that man was a servant of some kind,
-
even if he was the head of his own household.
-
He was doing the actions of a servant.
-
He was bringing water to somebody else, just like the
-
woman that was fell at the well of Samaria. She
-
was going to get the water, Brother Jesse. They were
-
all people that were willing to pour out the water. Now,
-
how many of you in this building tonight would ask.
-
The Lord to help you be more willing to do
-
for others?
-
Y'all will remember the Great Apostle Paul said, if you
-
want to fulfill the law of Christ, shoulder the burden
-
of someone else. Where your brother's burdens, he said. And
-
so tonight I want you to focus all the men
-
and the mindset of this servant of the firing how
-
the knowledgy preacher Elijah, and the servant's name is Elisha.
-
The Bible students.
-
And readers in this building, you have noticed the similarities
-
between these two men and their ministry.
-
I remember as a child in Sunday school. My Sunday
-
school teacher taught me how to know which one came first.
-
Some of y'all know how to do that.
-
In the alphabet, the letter change comes before the letter S.
-
And so concerning the two names of these two men,
-
they are strikingly similar. They're only one letter different. And
-
I want to tell the leaders and those people in
-
positions of authority that your children may be nothing more
-
than one letter of from what you are. The Bible
-
said to train up a child in the way they
-
should go, and when they grow home, they will not departing.
-
And a lot of times we see the children have
-
simply been cut from the pattern of Daddy and Mama.
-
I've told the how we're young men many times I said,
-
remember this. There may be some things that you can
-
do that may not get you damn.
-
As sentence to hell.
-
But what you do in moderation, your children will do
-
in excess.
-
And so with time a similarity.
-
There is something no slightly different about these men in
-
their name.
-
But brother Jessee, I don't believe it's enough.
-
And often enough to cause offense to God or to
-
keep from my shall from receiving the double portion from
-
the spirit of Elijha. You see, it's okay to have
-
strong leadership. I've noticed it to be a trend of
-
unholiness and Pentecostal people today to associate strong leadership with dictatorship.
-
That is trickering up the.
-
Devil on this and in action for a force I
-
believe that God blessing a family or a congregation with
-
strong leadership is just that it's a blessing from God.
-
In fact, brother Darius and reminded us of that tonight
-
in song. He said, thank.
-
God for the preacher that told us about Jesus. He said,
-
Elisha was fascinated with the spirit of Elijah. He might
-
not have been too impressed with his tress code and
-
his dress standard, because with no time that he wore
-
the same skylar clothing that Elijah was sure bore my
-
mother's clothing.
-
But there was something about the spirit. And I want
-
you to know it was.
-
His spirit of servitude that he noticed, because Elijah was
-
never too busy to minister to the least, the lost
-
and the lonely.
-
And Elijah was not saheading and how minded that when
-
his foot dried up he would go to see a
-
widow of Sarah path.
-
I's just thankful for the lord and mind and men
-
of God that can get a hold of God. But
-
at the same time, stuits a load has to be
-
a servant. I remember hearing a story a preacher told
-
long years ago and talked about this man that had
-
become very discouraged with some sort of berry. I want
-
to say it was a raspberry. And after some time
-
he decided that he just needed to do away with
-
that burial benyard brother Jesse. On the day that he
-
went to destroy that berry inured, somebody walked up. It
-
was an old timer, and he said, you're looking from
-
the wrong perspective. He said, underneath them bushes are the berries.
-
That preacher went on to say that that parting man
-
leaned down and he looked at sure enough, hanging and
-
dangling from them bushes was an abundance of raspberries. That
-
preacher went on to say that that preacher, that farmer
-
was looking at things from the wrong perspective. And sometimes
-
you've gotten to get down and look up at people.
-
You see, not.
-
Everybody wants to get down at the feet of somebody
-
bound to a wheelchair. Not everybody wants to get down
-
at the feet of a little.
-
Church in the bell when us only three people, that
-
one is threatening to be an elapidated building.
-
Not everybody is willing to eat a little man's lunch
-
box with fire.
-
And then the.
-
Little man went to where Jesus was ministry, and he
-
had a lunch box for so little in it.
-
But Jesus took that and.
-
Demonstrated to us that little is much when God.
-
Is in it.
-
Historically, just about every outbreak.
-
Of the Holy Ghost has occurred in little churches where
-
people were together together a meeting houses, where people who
-
are little. I feel the preacher right here, right now,
-
in this morning. It is true that Elisha knew that
-
the Jordan River. Listen now to the boys of Ali Child.
-
It is true that that range and Buddy River had
-
clarity of hearing when the top of the power stuck
-
to it. That I'm telling you here tonight. There was
-
something about the likes.
-
Of Elisha that Elisha wanted to be a that he
-
wanted to get a hold of it. And he didn't
-
only want to get a hold of what he could,
-
He wanted to have a pleny, who are messing up
-
in you?
-
Tenn I'm telling somebody now in this field of the
-
night who say we're tired, do it for me. He
-
is not a.
-
Respector a person. What it done for some den, he
-
do for you. Where he's done for what chutup, he'll
-
do for the l church. Where he's gonna work, touch hill,
-
run the earth.
-
Praise Lord Elisha believed that God would do for him
-
exceedingly abundantly above.
-
All, that she shall ask her things.
-
Jesus told his successors similar things. That's what Elijah said.
-
Greater things than these shall you do? You know that
-
what we've got to do in order to see the
-
greater blessing and the greater outpouring, we have got to
-
become people of humility.
-
It is true that this.
-
River Jordan doesn't likewise for the man of God Elisha,
-
in due time. That if we look at the man Elisha,
-
before he held the mantle, before he parted the river Jordan,
-
his teacher has showed him how to me humble. Prior
-
to the double of minority, he had been humble.
-
What led to such an minority?
-
What back to such power that the heavens would respond
-
to these men.
-
Of God's prayer?
-
What was the catalyst to such a connection with Jehovah God?
-
Now this man of God had a servant's hard It's
-
one thing to see.
-
A soul the Lord.
-
I want a servants harder help me to do my partner,
-
But it's another thing to be Jesus had been coming
-
to in a per chamber where the disciples who are
-
called his followers are gathered together, and there he would
-
take her a tower that he would put it upon
-
her his styles and kneel down and begin to washer
-
the feet of his what seeingly wassa his son. So
-
it takes somebody getting moody, lord, who got the stupid
-
very low to get to the feet of the servant.
-
I'll tell you what earned the respect that the apostles
-
had for Jesus to the point that they would die
-
for him, Rosa his ability to get little Jesus was
-
he of people person.
-
They could tell now. He wasn't in it for the power,
-
or for the position, or for the paychecker. He was
-
in it her all the people. Well, he was thrown
-
into it for their people. He was ministering for the people,
-
and he died up follow people. It's so clearly taking
-
to my heart. You see, if I was to ask for.
-
The cater right now to create an appetitity for the
-
empty tube of Jesus. Let's say the scientists and geologists
-
located that imtubement place and brother Caleb was the one
-
responsible for a writing that epithet.
-
I would say that brother Caleb would be prone to
-
say Keith is King of kings.
-
Well, brother Jesse said he is the Lord of lords,
-
and the empithet would continue to grow because by the
-
road Captain would feel the preacher old tick on it,
-
and he would say, he's wonderful cancelor, mighty God, Prince
-
of Pisa, and elastic father. But if you were to
-
pull a pin out of the hands of this little
-
god hit the person in the lad himself hands, what
-
he would say is I am a servant. In Mark
-
chapter number ten and forty five, Jesus describing himself as
-
there sir, he said, even the son of man man
-
tended not to be ministered up to her, but to
-
minister and to give her this life for a wrexam
-
for men. He well, come on now in another place,
-
it said, Ano came a man and took upon himself.
-
The border from a servant.
-
That's my love him.
-
I'm telling you because he can't the three minutes world
-
many identified himself. We you and I.
-
He tells how you there tho you obtained that this
-
famailiar enough, We are hacking enough.
-
I'm telling you. That's why I love him. By because
-
of Porta, not the water the boy pulled out the world.
-
I feel the Holy Ghost in this house, A true.
-
Genuine, purevanilla, true blue great name Christian takes it as
-
a Toby what a fellow who said describes him as
-
one that has a servant heart.
-
I have witnessed this over the last few days. I
-
walked into that kitchen.
-
Then in there were members of the Bethahoness Church and
-
family members of.
-
Jonathan Edwards and other people working. They were demonstrating servitude.
-
I'm telling you, somebody, who are the servant personified?
-
You are certainly great examples exemplifying on a daily and
-
even weekly basis.
-
What servant whom is you see? Why speaking to his disciples?
-
What time the Lord spoke to them about ministry. I
-
want to preach to the preachers that are here.
-
I want to preach to the affiliates that are after
-
that will be listening tomorrow. I want to preach them
-
to our resident missionary pastors. I want to preach to
-
the pastor's state side. Everybody holding the nettle, Carmela, I
-
want you to know jes The spoken to his disciples,
-
and he spoke concerning the landship gentle, the landship.
-
Psticular leader for these.
-
He said, the.
-
Disciples are the Gentales.
-
The leaders for the gentariesen the exercise authority.
-
He went on to say this, they fly to their authority.
-
And he told her his disciples, if you're gonna be
-
a leader of health, you must first time be a servile.
-
I see them, you the preachers here start preaching her,
-
and overnight they want to.
-
A pastorate like b the how Houser. I'll tell her
-
how it starts her watching the commode. Now I carry
-
rule working her in the church yard. There cut glass,
-
mistering in the nursing home. You gotta be let ae.
-
R if we go, I had the holy goes. Look,
-
Brother Jonathan Edwards got not. Sister Hannah Edward's got. I
-
had a surprise today, Brother Jerry. We have a private
-
thing called photocircle. Only our church people can see what
-
I post in there. I'll say we got choir practice,
-
we're starting revival. I'll post little screenshots snapshots in there
-
in town.
-
What's going on at to Bethel holding his church?
-
Yesterday last time Rther I said happy Wednesday to Brother
-
Jonathan and Sister Hannah. This afternoon I saw a beautiful
-
post from your wife. I'm telling you, getting to be
-
fifty it has its rewards and it also has its downers.
-
I'll sit there and I tell then, that is such
-
a sweet thing for Jesse's wife to write and said,
-
you all did a marvelous had a wonderful job.
-
Thank you for everything y'all did to.
-
Make yesterday's wedding ceremonies precious. And I thought, man, that
-
is unlike Jesse's wife to act like that and to
-
say those things. And I have put my phone down,
-
and I thought, Dug, Hannah Edwards is Jonathan's wife. It
-
is not Jesse's wife. Those two Hannah Slaughter the last names?
-
Or are you listen to Pastor Howard? What sister Hannah
-
was saying. I noticed the servant hood. I know the song,
-
you working man. I know this what you did for
-
the queen on the celebration. And I want to tell you,
-
don't you be the stir and sir when your people
-
seeing the pipe passer.
-
We weren't preaching the big meeting. Oh come on now.
-
The sonr Sai and the problem was saying, I've seen.
-
Her princess walking and I seen poppers upon horses. What
-
he was saying, he is sometimes some are promoted. My
-
daddy the son are promoted. My mama, I seen my print.
-
I'm come God, Papa, run out of misteen. What I
-
want you to know, consider the end loose, considered the
-
end of Elissa.
-
Pour that water, poor, your poor. The word.
-
The heart of the servant is humble, selfless, and.
-
Devoted to serving others. Sister heal from.
-
A She started attending here three or four months ago.
-
Let me tell your preacher something, she said. I feel
-
you when you preach. She said, I love to hear
-
you preach. She said, I started listening to your preach
-
before I came to church here. I did not get
-
a thrill or at you of any kind, because it's
-
not me.
-
The preachers y'all not had that understanding.
-
If he will don't know me, I will be sure
-
to return thanks, praising glory to him. She didn't say
-
you got a beautiful family, although that probably had.
-
Something to do with it, because the Bible.
-
Just said the man of God should have his household
-
in subjection and in order. And what she did say,
-
she said, I value your servant leadership. And this is
-
just now coming to mind. She said, we can tell
-
your heart beats for us. We can tell your heart
-
beats for your family. We can tell your heart beats
-
for the sinner. I'm not pinning roses old myself. I
-
don't care for that too much. I let my daughter
-
doing yesterday. How could I not after seeing that beautiful.
-
Battery Meanna, How could I knock bow that chest out
-
and said go ahead and pinned that peach hundred a rose?
-
Who're right here home, daddy.
-
I ain't no flowerty preacher, but I want you to
-
know I am a grasshopper and hedad preacher.
-
But before you ever becomes somebody, the spirit of charmed
-
the back, and so must tell on you and the
-
greatest choice. Her points to say, I'm my secrets that
-
he ain't got.
-
Ply that Chris I felling the Jesus as saying, the
-
greatest preacher of them all is here, and he's saying,
-
I got they.
-
Breath decreasing, decrease, so he he to increase.
-
God help me to get small enough that I can
-
look up and see the raspberries. God help me it
-
gets falling us to realize that brother, they're struggling, don't
-
want to go to hell.
-
Help me to gets small enough and get down enough
-
to let.
-
An a dote myself enough to see the day the raspberries.
-
I'm preaching to somebody nest building to night.
-
I want you to know listen heady and I min
-
the people looking at the raspberry. Yes, but o there
-
their prayer today. John seees you're frue people the medicine.
-
John sees you're a married fruit.
-
It just ain't your part to side.
-
Said, I don't want to set it's cooled principles. They
-
always have a burden to serve. Teachers. They don't make
-
a lot of money, but they have a burden to serve.
-
Pastorates are not something you should just step into. Ask
-
Moses's elder brother. The better preacher, the better speaker, according
-
to Moses, the mayor could forever wrote preach. In fact,
-
Moses was saying it when it comes to addressing parent,
-
when it comes to depressing.
-
People, errands, the better speaker. But he was not the
-
lonely minded Moses. He was not the great leader Moses.
-
We found it came to pressure and he caused the
-
church the compromise, and too many.
-
Pastors were out of their road.
-
They said to be doing something else besides pastor and aeron.
-
Because pastor who commits idology. He tells the people God
-
done that, and I said, God ain't gonna lie a
-
man or an idol title between the hell that's somebody else.
-
Some people's after it for the autumn. Some people's after
-
it for the title. Huh. So Jesus he mastered servitude.
-
And you know what, because he mastered servitude, Sister Wood,
-
he did not front his authority. One time he hit
-
it of it after six hundred Romas soldiers had hit
-
their face simply because he said a three letter friends,
-
I am he.
-
A man clocked out Mount Tisha ain't got nothing, came Jesus. Huh,
-
he told the Roman leader. He said, you're saying that.
-
I'm meaning, Hey, Jesus was playing the men for fools,
-
and I'm gonna tell you the best way here to
-
play a fool is to humble yourself.
-
Because they don't.
-
Know how to do that.
-
You preachers remember this.
-
They would despise the horrible man when they come up
-
and occlock you're not preaching here or you're not preaching there, and.
-
They try to make you feel bad because you're not
-
pastor the church.
-
Lucky Daddy's that runs eighty two one hundred, not yet
-
but you remember trickery and deceit and politics.
-
We do not make a who are leader who will
-
not make you?
-
Not the thane, a leader that servitude and sermon hood,
-
who have tain you to me?
-
The leader that's you mean to be? Said, I keep
-
preaching her said, we go to colds. He said.
-
Elisha was quite pleased with elijah spirit. The spirit of
-
I Am was known when somebody approaches them, when they
-
come upon him. Sometimes Sister Wootten, she says, I didn't
-
like his spirit. She came to me yesterday and she said,
-
I met your brother in law Shame, And she.
-
Said, I like his spirit.
-
He is a pleasant person. He's fun to talk to.
-
She said, he reminds me of his sister Charity. I said, well,
-
she practically raised him. They were best friends when I
-
came in and took her away from him. But they
-
are similar in so many ways. And Sister Wootin saw
-
me begin to cry, and I said, I would love
-
to see her brother sitting in the House of God
-
next to her and next to me other Jesse. They're
-
all so close and characteristics, they're all so closer in personality.
-
And I watched his wife.
-
As she looked at the women of God, and she
-
noted there was something different about a sake.
-
Of God, the life.
-
And I want you to know, a.
-
Humble person will have to like themselves and sanctification. They
-
will to like themself its secreation. They will not turn
-
their nose up to the world. They will not actabet
-
me there and matter.
-
Than the world.
-
But they will be humble and they will delight themselves
-
in the difference of trust food.
-
I love the crickets preach right now. They're preaching. Got
-
quite right there.
-
In the Word of God, it says that our heaven
-
and Father will give his children.
-
The desires of their heart. Now, Elisha, he's want something.
-
I remember when brother law Is Stanley would stand up
-
and testify in the Brandy Church of God. I would say, God,
-
o what he's got because he was rop sound, he
-
was humble.
-
But when his wife, Sister Clara made would stand up,
-
she had the power that I saw on demonstration here
-
tonight some of your life.
-
So I'm talking about trying to build you up, but
-
I'm telling you it's everden.
-
When it begins to menopest that.
-
The pire is inside and sister standing, she stand up
-
and she started.
-
Out to talking in a low, soft tone.
-
After about one or two minutes, i'd hear the power
-
in her didn't begin to roll.
-
Brother be figured, did he miss my soul?
-
And I sit over there, and I said to God,
-
when I get saved, and when I get sactified.
-
And when I get the holy mil stuff, I want
-
a double portion of what sister Clara Stanley has. And
-
I told God it that for years and the night
-
I got saved. Man, she walked over there and bless
-
me a.
-
Smile in that moment.
-
I'm telling you that double poor said, I'm a.
-
Spirit came upon me.
-
I knew right there, and she knew right there.
-
Man.
-
Although I never told her what I wanted. Elijah told
-
Elijah what I want. And Elijah said, you asked the
-
hard thing of me, buddy, because.
-
Elijah knew what it took to keep the fire. Hey, ma'am,
-
come on, mother Caleb. When they pat you on the back,
-
you know what you do with that hen.
-
You may not physically grab that hen tap me on
-
the back. I'm Caleb, man, I've changed, haven't I. You're Jeremy,
-
you changed too. You've got a whole lot more handsome, right, man.
-
Look at us, Jeremy, how handsome he is. But I'm
-
Caleb right now, pat me on the back in your spirit.
-
When they do that, you need to see as of
-
beating down, and you need to take that hand you
-
want to back and put that up to heaven and
-
say to God be all the praise, to God, be
-
all the glory.
-
Because you can ask Saul.
-
Whenever you get lifted up, God said Saul, when you
-
were little, How that's a prophecy among the properts. How
-
nets a new tothetic things. How that's her get in
-
the spirit. But when you got sabid, I didn't even
-
watch a sacrifice it like the priest does.
-
I'm telling you.
-
Good this sor somebody a hoty spirit. We don't come
-
before all.
-
I spreading this morning my maba, and in the other
-
room I heard my wife playing the audio King James translation,
-
and in there it.
-
Was saying, how has to have following Saul? Hell are
-
the mighty falling? Jonathan David was weeping, Oh my God
-
in heaven. We find in PSNG chapter.
-
Number thirty seven and verse before the Simons wrote, delight
-
thyself also in the Lord, and he shall give thee
-
the desires of thy heart. It's evident to Thelossa delighted
-
himself in obedience.
-
Unto the Lord.
-
Also, he didn't have a problem submitting to proper authority.
-
Notice, we are to delight ourself in the Lord.
-
Yes, sir, many overlook the word in and the phrase
-
in the Lord. They delight themselves in things that satisfying
-
their carnal appetites and desires that delight themselves.
-
There something besides the Lord. We should delight ourself in
-
the Lord. This is how mother Eve got in deep trouble.
-
She delighted in something that looked pleasant to the eyes.
-
She did not even know that it would taste to
-
like a bitter muscle. All she was worried about how
-
beautiful it was to the eyes. Gonna say noel She
-
was fastening. We're not forbid it.
-
I want you to know, Elisa, let's not fascinating. We're permitting.
-
He was fascinating with a spirit for a man of God,
-
he said, Eve, she wanted to delight herself in the
-
indulgence of the place, rather than in her God. Solomon
-
at some point acknowledged his erroneous ways and his error.
-
Brother Nathangel, we find him saying, I've missed the mark.
-
I delighted in all of the wrong things. I delighted
-
in beautiful women. I delighted in hard labor. I delighted
-
in great architecture. I delighted in great construction projects. I
-
delighted in materialism. I delighted in lavish love felship. I
-
delighted in pleasure. I delighted in entertainments. There were all
-
the wrong things to delight in your creatures. I never
-
did look for a pastor's pool pit. I looked for
-
the annoying to.
-
The Jesus, healthy free throwing.
-
I'm telling every person in the middle hole in this church,
-
so you got to do better a solitude.
-
I'm not helping o theirs.
-
You already seen them big cargo ships that hauled the
-
big big one of them things called to me, what
-
connas boxes all that stuff.
-
I think I just hit a big wave and lost.
-
About thirty of them big connacts boxes right there in
-
a big wave. I am not criticizing you at all,
-
and I will tell you that pride and errogancy will
-
turning off people. I'm turning in this church with not
-
throwing unders. Somebody packing theself hold the chest. They hear
-
enough of that from a list celebrities.
-
They hear enough of that the news.
-
They hear about that.
-
As they need to sell a part. What they need
-
is somebody to demonstrate servitude.
-
And you know what, with everything that Eliosha got, something
-
must have been special about Elisha, because we fined when
-
it came his turn to be the mentor, when it
-
came his turn to be the trainer, when it came
-
his turn to be the example. I don't feel that
-
he fell short, but his follower Gehazi, the one that
-
was pouring order on his hands. That Gahzi delighted in
-
things such as Solomon had said we should avoid, and.
-
Because of that he.
-
Wanted materialistic things above the anointment of God. And the
-
Bible said that Gahzi became lepros and so Elijah's servant, Elisha,
-
he got a double portion of the spirit of Elisha.
-
And sister, who Gehazi is the successor to Elisha?
-
Or what an opportunity he had?
-
Do we realize tonight that the Holy Ghost's brother Philip said,
-
has been even heard.
-
Of this fort he at realizes what an opportunity you
-
have to not to get to while they get this good.
-
We can pray in this altar here in a little while,
-
and you can tell God, God, just help me to
-
pour out the water, help me to pour out myself.
-
And before you know it, you know what will happen.
-
You'll be pouring out the word of God, the praises
-
of God. You'll be speaking in a heavenly language.
-
Elisha knew not to settle for what would never ultimately
-
satisfy him.
-
He had a good desire, a great desire. He desired more.
-
The spirits of Elisha and the spirit of God. Ultimately
-
he wanted that double annointing. It wasn't for his pleasure
-
or his personal gain. Elisha did not want it for
-
his pleasure or his personal gain. But kahes Idea Cohesi
-
was gonna be unwilling to help the least, the laws
-
and the lonely, the great prophets of God, allies and
-
Elsh minister to widows.
-
People matter to them.
-
But when you find Ghesa, he's in a leperous condition
-
later on in life. He's trying to stand in the
-
very presence of the key in such a state as that,
-
because all along, like Judas, he wanted to be in
-
a position of power.
-
I just felt a witness of the Holy Ghost right there. God,
-
help us not to covet power. Help us God not
-
to covet positions of authority.
-
And I'm not saying to anybody he is, But the
-
Bible said the small foxes full of virons us for
-
him running the little.
-
Fall small foxes out of here with amen. It wasn't
-
for his pleasure or his personal gainsays to have them.
-
When he caught the man on mid air, and he
-
stood there, and all the others profits from the school
-
and the prophets is standing there to watch and see
-
what's he gonna do it? Elijah. They had passed it
-
on to Elisha. I want to pass something on to you,
-
young preachers.
-
I live to pass this on to you. It is
-
the reason I breathe. It is the reason I live.
-
I've been praying. I said, God, would you please let
-
firebrand shoot out of the bonfire of God.
-
I'll believe that this ministry, the word of God, men
-
in Jesus, can spread like wildfire.
-
That's what I was crying and praying about over there
-
a little while ago. I was saying, God, let firebrand
-
shoot out like fireworks and let us take this into
-
the world.
-
It's true the Lord desires to use men in a
-
much greater capacity, but they have to have the right
-
spirit to be used in such a great capacity. People said, well,
-
why are the blind no longer receiving their sight? Why
-
are the lab no longer walking? Well, I'll tell you
-
that they are.
-
It's just few and far between you.
-
Her brother Jerry estimony about his mother's sister Francis. He said,
-
I saw God turn the tables. I saw God put
-
Mama in a u turn situation. I saw God turned
-
the tables. I said, I saw God turned the tables.
-
God wants to work in a greater capacity, but God
-
needs men and women that are little enough to work in.
-
Such a capacity. I just thought to hold it because
-
a man's gift will make goood for himself.
-
But sometimes God's gonna tell you to go up the
-
road to the hospital and pray for the widow. Sometimes
-
God's gonna tell the first lady you message that woman
-
that her husband left her. That ain't popular, preacher, right
-
there in our golden text, the King of Judah was
-
in search of someone who could hear directly.
-
From the Lord.
-
I need somebody that can pour out the word. I
-
need somebody that can hear from God, be servant specific
-
and tell me what God says to me.
-
Well, you must first pour the water fire up the
-
bower pire up here, high.
-
Up the pressure wash fire.
-
Teaching in the Sunday school class, you see when Jehasifat
-
reached the point of desperation, the prophet Elisha was the
-
one everyone recommended brother Nathaniel. And what they had in
-
mind is brother Jesse come to the piano. Was not
-
all the miracles he performed, It.
-
Was go get the preacher.
-
Man that poured water on the man of God's hands,
-
seemed by such a menial task, seemed by such a
-
silly notation. But I want you to know, not only
-
did God take notice in that the king's household noticed
-
that when the old wild man prophet Elijah walked through town,
-
Lysha's right there pouring water on the hands of the prophet.
-
The two guys, and I don't mean to be disrespectful
-
in any way, they weren't pansy men. But I'll tell
-
you this, my Grandpa Willard Howe and my other grandpa
-
to warming Danter, they weren't effeminate men. By no stretch
-
of the imagination. But there were times, brother Aaron, because
-
of the way we were working, and their hands got sadingy,
-
dirty and grimy. They spoken to me with authority, and
-
they said, hold the water hose.
-
You know what I did.
-
I took that water hose and I held it on
-
the hands of great men. And then they said, go
-
get the gojo because this water ain't working. And I'd
-
run into the barn and get some gojo. And I
-
love to smell the gojo and brothers there, and I
-
rubbed my hands through the dirt just so I could
-
get some food.
-
Joke.
-
On the way back from the barn, I stopped to
-
get my hands dirty. Now, I say, Papa, I've been
-
working too. And he knew I didn't have the capacity
-
to work like he did, but he knew it was
-
in my heart. I'm talking about a little boy words m.
-
I could he sell to sleep any Titus?
-
Are you?
-
Are you awake, comer Titus. I can't expect this little
-
man right here to work like Papa does. This is
-
my grandson, Titus. I can't expect him to work like
-
I do. He likes to eat with him.
-
He's told me he's already missing me since Hannah's booted out.
-
She's his babysitter. And he said, I miss a longhorn.
-
He's hopped on the fish sticks.
-
Ain't cutting. That's true if you're ready to go a
-
long horn.
-
But Titus, who I've seen you a few times, try
-
to get a little dirty because you've been working my
-
daddy and not Pampa. And I'd get that old go
-
jo with the grib in it, and I'd have to
-
scrub Paupers had to literally put some in his hand.
-
He's grub his hand.
-
I'd hold the water hose. I mean, been washing clear
-
up to the elbows, says the whoop old hairy arms.
-
The light bear of her to see water dripping off
-
the hairy arms. And my brother Titus, he said, man,
-
look up that you've been working.
-
We're just standing there like this holding the water hose,
-
just like this. That's simple and that innocent.
-
But you do that long enough.
-
At the wall, Pop is gonna say turn that ranch.
-
And at the Wallcop is gonna say swing that rink.
-
Thank you, go to Titus. But what they noticed was
-
Elisha was a servant.
-
Seems it's significant, but the notation, the deliberate notation is
-
he's a water board.
-
I don't know a whole lot about sports.
-
I was a letter of an athlete high school before
-
I got saved to pay the law of sports, I
-
guess I know a little bit about it. But I know,
-
Brother Tyler, the warner boy was never the one that
-
won the game. He was never the one that's scored
-
to touchdown or slid it into home plate. He was
-
the one that walked out and hydrated everybody. There is
-
a sweet spirit of God in this place tonight.
-
You know. One of the hardest things to do is
-
to forgive people and love them even though they don't
-
deserve it.
-
In pastoral ministry or even just in the Christian walk,
-
the hardest thing to do is as to how is
-
to be a servant and love them that you know
-
is gonna treat you like you're a doormat.
-
The hardest thing to do is forget those that take
-
advantage of you.
-
Jesus said, won't you pray for those that despite for
-
the new Usia and Abusia?
-
Sometimes, Brother Tyler, it's easier just to cut them off.
-
It's easy to withhold and refuse love.
-
But a servant says, you know what they don't deserve it,
-
but I'm gonna love him anyway. They don't deserve this forgiveness,
-
but I'm gonna forgive them anyway.
-
I love what I feel right now at my soul.
-
Let's stand here, if we will please or the please ma'am, please, brother, please, sister.
-
So when Jehasaphat, the King of Judah, in his desperation,
-
he said, I need.
-
Somebody to pray for me.
-
My mother in law was here yesterday. She's of a
-
different persuasion. She used to live holiness. We found that
-
out after we had got married.
-
We didn't know.
-
Sister Howard was great granddaddy Martin was a holdiness preacher
-
of the symbols of God.
-
We didn't know this till after we had got married.
-
My mother in law used to live it, but her
-
brother Samuel, when she started having a stroke a few
-
years back, she called her daughter.
-
She said, Charity, I need you to pray.
-
And then she said, if you will tell my son
-
in law Jeremy to pray, Sister Wooton. All we were
-
doing was down here in label for to porn, water, porn,
-
water cutting grass. I think we cut the grass here
-
for many years. Brother Jeremiah maybe a decade now. We're
-
blessed to have the help, but we must first.
-
Pour the water before we pour the word. Saints. You
-
know what I'm talking about.
-
They criticize your life, they criticize your lifestyle, they criticize
-
your dress code standard. Even yesterday there were some talking
-
and privacy about the way you are dressed. It doesn't
-
bother me, not one bit. But you all know it
-
to be true, sister Woot And you said it just recently.
-
That prodigal daughter, when she gets in a fix and
-
gets in a bind, she calls bomba.
-
Now that takes a servant's heart to say.
-
You know, I've been ridiculed and talked about Lionel treated
-
and I'm gonna pray for him.
-
I'm gonna pray for the spiders of.
-
The cheek, and when they spike the one cheek, I'm
-
gonna turn the others. My best friend, well, I got saved.
-
He wasn't too happy about it. We were working together and.
-
I was trying to talk to about Jesus in the
-
tone of voice that I have right now, and I
-
literally had a tear run down my face before it
-
got saved.
-
I refused to cry. I had a tear run down
-
my face. He knew that was unusual. My brother Jeremiah
-
just said, would you please get saved?
-
I feel like some bad's gonna happen to you if
-
you don't get saved by all that drink and carouse.
-
If you do it, something bad's gonna happen. For some reason.
-
He got mad, hit me on the head, knocked me
-
to the ground.
-
I'll never forget my hard hat rolling in the shop
-
floor and spinning like a turtle on his back. And
-
I crawled over there and grabbed it and put it on.
-
And I stood up and I looked at Mike and
-
I said, why'd you do that? Did the devil make
-
you do that? And he said, Jeremy, all I can
-
tell you is you got saved because I tested you,
-
because just six months ago you.
-
Tried to kill them with a piece of that angel
-
or for doing that, brother Jeremiah, God give me servants.
-
Because there's people that are suffering and hurting and they're
-
gonna need help. There's jehostile facts out there. There's so
-
many jehostile facts that need.
-
To hear from God.
-
Listen, Preacher, before you lead, you must serve. Listen, Dad, Mom,
-
sometimes we don't feel.
-
Like serving even our own families.
-
But we had to.
-
Also Paul one time, speaking to the New Testament believers,
-
he said, sometimes do it against your will.
-
As to how and I took a cruise recently.
-
They were not serving alcohol. People, We're not drinking. It
-
was a special type of cruise because that we went,
-
we had a good time. There's people from another country,
-
says to Wooting on that ship. They're living in servanthood. Sister,
-
how I talked to that one for a good while.
-
You would remember this as the hand I would remember it.
-
We talked to him for a couple and that's anyway,
-
fifteen to twenty minutes. And I said, man, there's a
-
lot of Filipinos on this ship. He said, trump in
-
ninety percent, sir, after for example, some sort of special
-
arrangement between the cruise companies and the Filipino government. And
-
I said, I heard that a lot of y'all were
-
losing your minds after being on the ship for twelve months.
-
He said, yeah, they had to shorten the duration of
-
our servanthood. He said, because of us being out at
-
sea longer than nine months, we start having mental problems.
-
And he said now there's a law against us working
-
too long on the cruise ship. But when you walked around,
-
Sister Howard, you could know soon and finish a blast.
-
They were taking it from you.
-
The dirty plate was removed in seconds. It never sat
-
there for minutes. They'd been coupled. But brother Samuel, they
-
had such servants, hearts. They were waiting all the Americans
-
on their cruise ship's hand and foot. And I couldn't
-
help but think about Jesus walking in that day with
-
that towel, and Peter knew who he was.
-
He's king of king and lord of lords. Jesus said,
-
flesh of blood had not built such things. To you, Peter,
-
And in Jesus, brother Samuel's there. He gets down like
-
this and picks up Cowell on his knee. He starts washing.
-
Peter said, oh no, you ain't about to wash my feet.
-
