All right, So may I direct your attention to Obadi

verse number three, the shortest book of the Old Testament.

Obadi in verse number three, Brother Samuel, Proverbs, chapter number

seventeen and verse number seventeen. Listen, a friend loveth at

all times. And a brother is born for adversity, and

a brother was born for adversity, Brother Jesse, Proverbs chapter

number sixteen and verse number eighteen. My brother, pride go

before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Let's

stand for the reading of our golden text Oba Dahiah,

chapter number one and verse number three. And I need

the mothers and the fathers of Israel to pray for

me tonight. The Bible says, the pride of thy heart

hath deceived thee Thou that dwellest in the clefts of

the row, whose habitation is high, that saith in his

heart woo shall bring me down to the ground. Let's pray,

Heavenly Father. We love it, we praise you, We thank

you for the opportunity to be in your house tonight. God,

I thank you for this precious people, people that are

called by your name, people that serve you, and the

beauty of holiness and that worship you and spirit, and

intreat you know the place wherein they stand before you

this night. I pray that you would annoy it their

ears and help me to hear what the spirit of

God says, and to the church tonight annoying me, God said,

a guard in my mouth, and help me to say

the things that you would have me to say, nothing

more or less. Lord, I pray that they would hear,

and that they would heed. I pray that they would

depart this place joyfully and not sorrowfully. In Jesus's name.

In the church says Amen. Reading this third verse in

the Book of Obadiah, the Bible said, the pride of

thy heart hath deceived thee now that twelst in the

clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high, the saith

in his heart, who shall bring me down to the ground.

Not only just bring me down, but bring me down

to the ground. Our text has found in an Old

Testament book of the Holy Bible. The Book of Obadiah

is a short book. In fact, the brevity of this

fighting is a marvel unto me. But yet within this

short sacred writing, in these twenty one verses, there's a

lot said about the Edomites. And because I was raised

in church and that I've taught Sunday School since i

was about twelve years old and I'm nearly fifty now.

Because of my knowledge of the Word of God and

the contents within these leather binders, I knew that there

was a very large and detailed history behind these few verses.

What are there twenty one verses in the Book of Obadiah.

I knew that there was a lot of history behind

the message of Obadiah. And if Brother Nathaniel was not

on vacation and was present amongst us tonight, he would

let out a hearty amen. Again, I want to say

there is a lot of history behind the message of Obadiah.

The first verse of this sacred writing gives the source

of inspiration for these few verses. The man of God, Obadiah,

an oracle, a mouthpiece of God, has experienced a vision

resulted in revelation of things forthcoming to the Edomites. I've

told you that while I laid upon my bed this afternoon,

that God awoke me from my sleep and start my

spirit to search for something within this short book or

brief writing. As I read through this book of the Bible. Today,

I was made aware of the fact that our heavenly

Father sees and knows all things. There is nothing that

goes unnoticed. And can I tell you that before destruction

takes place, it is announced. People are forewarned before destruction

comes any one's way. The Bible said, there is a

way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end

of that way or path is destruction. We find it

in the Word of God that it has stated and

written His eyes are in every place, beholding the evil

and the good. In other words, and our pairent praise

that the good eyes of God are upon the good

deeds of good people, and the good eyes of a

good God, or upon the bad deeds of evil and

wicked people. In this short writing, I found where God

was mindful of sweet beloved Israel. I also found that

God was very mindful of other nations. We talked this

morning that there was a time within the national history

of Israel where they felt like they were God's favorites,

and no doubt they were. They were specially selected and

chosen by God to be his people. And if you

were not a member of that club, you were simply filled.

And the off scaring of the earth, and there was

no hope of all for you because you were alienated

from the promises of these precious people of God. And

so in this brief writing, brother Jesse, I pound that

God was mindful of the nation of Israel, but it

was also mindful of the Edomites. There's something about that name,

the Edomites that sins a coulture down my spine. It

probably has something to do with my knowledge of their

history and also my knowledge of what was prophesied concerning

them by God's mouth Peace the prophet Isaiah. You see,

God knew things about Israel, any new things about their

neighbors on the other side of the Dead Sea. Now,

thinking about neighbors, how many of you have good neighbors,

how many of you have bad neighbors? A whole lot

more of you were testifying to the fact that you

have good neighbors, while others are testified to the fact

that you have bad neighbors. And Sister Howell, I thought

about these termites and how they dwelt and nearby, probably

too near to the people of God, and how God

would have perceived them, and they would have perceived these

people as their neighbors. Again, they resided on the other

side of the Dead Sea. How many of you know

there are people that was raised in church with you.

They sat on pews and they heard annoyed preaching by

great men of God.

But to no Seemingly they're on the other side of

the sea. Seemingly they're on the other side of the world.

But by the perception and the beauty of God, God

saw them as near neighbors. And I want to preach

a thought that the Holy Ghost gave me and a

come on now again, I say that the Lord knew

the present state of the Israelites and that edam Manza,

and also he knew their former state. He knew their history.

This trouble began to develop while two brothers were developing

in their mother's room. The struggle began. The Bible readers

Jacob and Esau. You see, Jacob would be the representative

of the nation of Israel, or the patriarch of such

a people, while Esau would be the representative of his

keeping the record. I've found it right here in this

short book on the Bible, that there was no leper

God had a record of everything, just like that. It

is recorded in the Bible that man will give it

a cow for every word that is.

Spoken, those that are fitly spoken, a licking in the

apples of gold in pictures of silver, but also those

that are not so fitly spoken.

For the father that speaks to.

His son, not in a right tone of force, not

in a right manner, to discourage that son as he tries.

To pursue the will of God. God has a record

of that for that word. The carnally minded wife that

discourages her husband from living right and holding before God.

God has a record of every conversation that was uttered

and muttered behind closed doors. Would you pay for me

as I lay a foundation here? Ani see brother Jesse,

these two men should have been brethren, as Simeon and

Leviah word.

They should have been closely knit.

Because her who their father was, because her of who

showed them how to go about worshiping God. But you

will remember that God said, when the day was over

and everything was finished, Jacob, have I loved? And Esau

have I hate?

How many of you know? If people can tell.

When God is disappointed with them, they can come to

church and act like their oblivias to the disappointment or

displeasure of God. And if they were to be honest

with themselves and with us, they would say, I FLD,

I have disobeyed God, and I have disappointed God.

when somebody was being turned over by the devil, when

somebody was being let a strained. Where was that personalty

in that service? Where was that personalty in that altar?

I see, who can breed trouble? I said, it can

and love and hope in the person of anybody who

how could this be? Why did this happen in such

a rural area, to such a small town. How could

it be that somebody could be so mentally deranged that

they were come in there and blow people away. I'll

tell you where, sister Howell and I was eating lunch today.

It walked a young man that had a troubled mind

and a troubled spirit. I deserted it as soon as

he'd come into building. The owner of the pizza joint,

he deserves it as well. I was not in a

position of power to deal with it. But I noticed

that that manager was on the balls of his toes.

If you would, I'm telling you, brother Samuel, he went

straight to that young man. He cocked his head to

the side, and he asked him a question, May I

help you? I too was wondering what was in them riches,

I too was wondering what was under that coat. And

I believe that man that owned that pizza joy he

was trying to make sure that there was something horrible

about to happen in his little establishment that sells pizza.

And that's what this little preacher of a country church

is doing tonight. I'm telling you, parents, it seems like

it's going in one ear and out to other. It

seems like we've got covers on the green and we're

still saying I've got hope, and that's good. I have

hope too. I have hoped that somebody's gonna pray to

not and somebody's gonna stop playing dames for God.

I'm telling you, I come to tell somebody the reason

for this.

This pride has deceived your heart.

Not just any pride, thy pride, not my neighborhood.

How can these people be so deceived that they do

not believe God will judge them? How can they be

so deceived that they do not believe that God is

not keeping record? Listen, friend, you can say to the

street preacher don't judge until you get horse. You can

holler in the face of brother thomastericill you lose your

voice and get horse, and you can say, don't judge,

don't judge, don't judge. And I want to tell you

he is that your greatest concern, Your greatest concern is

that Jesus is your judge. Not only is he Savior

and Lord to all, he is judge of all. How

many kingdoms and tyrantscoons and titans of nations have felt

at some point that they were in a lofty place

and out of harm's way? Again, how many titans, tycoons

have felt at some point they were in a lofty place,

out of harm's way. Let me answer that question for

you many and how many church people have felt like

they're in a lofty place, namely the House of God.

But God knows if there's a spirit of Cain in

the building. God knows if there's a spirit of Esau,

the spirit of the Edomites in the building. And ob

I spoke to the Edomites of the pride of their

own heart. I'm gonna say it again, Pride goeth before destruction,

not pride goeth before a fall. A houghty spirit before

a fall, but pride goeth before destruction. Do you need

a definition of destruction? I don't suppose anybody in this

building needs the definition of destruction. Notice the first verse

of this book states God had something to say about Edel.

But this said the Lord God, stating the sovereignty of God.

There was a messager sent by God, and God is speaking.

The Lord God is speaking. Do y'all see that God

let edom know that their glorying in themselves was a

good and it was totally unacceptable. Well, I did wrong,

and I got bud with it. Well, I ain't had

nothing happened to me yet. I'm still gonna continue, just

to take the easy road. I'm still gonna continue offering

incomplete sacrifices. I'm still gonna have a double tongue and

a divided spirit. The pride of your heart has deceived you.

Listen when a person sends his pride swelling them up inside,

the moment it begins to well up in their heart

and mind, they need to repent of it right then

and there, that very moment, when you feel it swelling up,

you better repent of it right then and there. Pride

tells us that we don't need a church family. Pride

tells us we don't need a pastor. Pride deceives us

and convinces us we can walk into a world in

carnivally minded congregation week after weeken and not take a

toll on our spiritual health. Should I repeat myself, Pride

deceives us by convincing us we can walk into a

world and carnivally minded congregation week after week and is

not taking a toll on us? Know ye not that

a little levin leven at the whole lump. Someone needs

to stop and think about who was speaking here in

the first part of this book.

Of the Bible.

The Lord God. You're looking at Jeremy Howell right now,

and the Edomites and the Israelites were looking at Obd.

But y'all need to know these two men that I

just mentioned both had some sort of awakening of the

Lord of the condition of people around them. The end

result is it's pride. It's deceiving your heart, and it's

destroying you. When an elder preacher can't correct you without

you getting mad, you're full of pride, young preacher. If

you're jumpy, just at the mention of something that doesn't

even relate to you. Your heart is full of pride.

And you know what I could do. I could just say,

whoever the pastor was that approved your ministry and said

you were called. The easy way for me to handle

that is just say I wasn't there. I doubt your calling.

I could actually say, won't be to the preacher that

approved you're calling. Won't be to the preacher that puts

you in that position where you thought you were somebody.

You know, if I was to become the mentor of

a young man and to ordain him in ministry, only

to see him thirty years later be one of these

counterfeit charismatic preachers and supposed faith hevers where there's no

proof of the miracles following him and no signs, I

would be ashamed the fact that in a little world

church out in the country out ordained that man in

his ministry. Gone. But brother Jesse, I've seen him clown

to the summits and ministry.

And.

I've seen him climb to the hearts of business in

corporate America, right. I've seen him climb to the place

where there ain't nobody able to tell them anything. I've

seen church members get to the place as to however

their conscience is so hardened that even their pastor can't

help 'em. That's gone where a man can stand in

the pulpit and say, I had a vision God spoke

to me. Y'all think about obade preaching and saying it's

because of the pride of your heart. So the Edomites

felt like they were safe and secure and all together

they felt like they're out of harm's way. You know why,

because of their geographic location. Well, I got the Holy

Ghost in this Church of God thirty years ago. Well

I got the Holy Ghost in this Assembly of God

thirty years ago. I got the Holy Ghost in this

Holiness church a year ago. Did you get the Holy

Ghost tonight when we all got him again and got

Reingfield again. I'll stay true to what I told a

young man one time, when there's been people going contrary

to the word of God for ten years, and he

shot lah laying over him and telling them how wonderful

they are, and telling them the blessings of God is

upon them, and all that ain't the same spirit I have.

I believe him working with people, and I believe it

takes some people a long time, but I'll share this.

The last out of our convention, we had a young

preacher come here and he approached the for me, climbed

on it without receiving permission, that is against all ministerial

ethics that would be taught at any Bible college, and

never even shook my hand, and we passed each other,

got a little nod and a little wink, and so

that I would make a scene. I didn't torn him

out and set him down in the middle of that

ultra service. But he played and sang and shot all

loud in a month or form. And then when we're

trying to close out our convention, he stands on our

poolpit to the right hand side of it and begins

to be raised and scold this people. I don't know

what gets in the heart of a young man like

that to cause him to do that. But the old

timers had a statement or an expression that went like this,

you've got too big for your pictures, and I want

you to picture with me that Eda Monk's living up

on a huge side up there in that mountain, Brother Philip,

where they felt like they were out of harm's way,

and there's no way nothing is gonna come to me,

and I feel like, sister Woot And there's some people

hiding in a cave of Bethel, and they say Bethel

has highly annoyous services. In Bethel flies Mighty Eye, and surely,

surely nothing could happen to me. Listen, we ain't your

salvation and we aren't your grace. That's up to you.

And I've already tried to tell the Saints of God.

I'm not preaching of you, but I do ask you

to pray for me. In a little town that I

came from, there was a recent tragedy, probably about twelve

months ago. In a sermon, I felt lad to talk

about two young men that I went to high school with,

name Lee Curis Chauncey and Jimmy Henson. And I talked

about how they were friends through high school, how I

knew Curtis really well, sister, how one knew Jimmy Henson

really well. They shared the same birthday, were born in

the same hospital. They joked oftentimes about being swapped at birth.

In time, because Jimmy and Curtis were using drugs, they

had some sort of dispute and Jimmy killed Curtis and

he threw Curtis's body in a body.

Of water near where they were living.

He got out of that initially, but then we prosecuted

him and he was found guilty of murder. So about

a year ago I started mentioning that for some reason,

that had happened twelve to thirteen years ago. What I

didn't know was Jimmy Henson wasn't hiding in my former hometown.

I was down here buying him own business, preaching and pastoring.

But of the spirit I felt like mentioning, Jimmy Henson

killed on Curtis Chauncey, and I wondered, why am I

even thinking of that? Then three or four weeks ago,

a friend of mine sent me a text as I

was driving him all ho steakhouse between Sunday's services, and said,

didn't you know this guy right here, Jimmy Henson? I said, yeah,

I knew Jimmy had some really well. Charity knew him

better than I did. I knew Curtis Chompson very well.

She didn't know him all that well. He said, well,

did you know that he died literally across the street

from a church. I said, what are you talking about?

He said, yeah, he just died. He has been three

or four weeks ago when this last hurricane came through,

was it Milton. He said that he had been hiding

as a fugitive out on some people's lane on a

little island in the middle of them Phosphoe pits, and said,

whenever the hurricane was coming, he said, I'm gonna go

out there and I'm gonna weather this hurricane in my

camp on that little island. And so the hurricane came

and it blew over an effort. After a couple of days,

they said there was no change unsl and so some

more boys and sister how and I know they weren't

looking for their buddy Jimmy. They found him floating in

a body of water just down from where his camp was.

With the fugitive. They they camped, both arms, tore off

of his torso, ripped from his body by an alligator

that was nearby. They say he was a suspect. And

the disappearance of a girl that also lived in that

neighborhood where people of God was raised, a small neighborhood,

a very small town, a hometown of people that loved God,

where the holiness boys and holiness girls live. There was

a predator, a killer, a murderer, camping appulse to road

from a holiness church on a little island. Not in

modern neighborhood, Not in my neighborhood.

I'm okay going.

To that worldly church. I'm okay going and listen to

that group saying I'm okay. Instead of going to that

holiness church up the road, I'll go to a worthly church.

I'm okay.

It'll never be me.

It'll never happen to me.

All you'll do is order one time too many.

Bless Him Jesus. I give up the benefit of the doubt.

They love God the same way all us let root

in us. Did not gaiter that perhaps you've been feeding.

It's just as stressed as you are about the storm.

And besides, you're the pray Right then, that alligator you've

been playing with, that spirit you've been toilet with, it

gets you. It looks a hold in you. It just

starts a death role. Not in my neighborhood, not in

my bed room. I left God. I got the hold

of God else than the Church of God. I got

the holy ghost in the City of God. I got

the holy ghost in the holiness Church. It'll never be me.

It'll never be me wondering my neighborhood. It'll never be

me out of my mind like Legion. It'll never be

me locking my hair off with shears. It'll never be

me painting my lips ruby red. It will never happen

in my neighborhood. They will never happen in my household.

They'll never happened in my church. The apostle Paul Lord

never say grievous worst will come in. So you know

he better get out of that deed of devils. You

know he better patrol contract and get out of that

world in church. You know what you ought to do.

If you stay too long, there will be destruction. Let's

stand the eat of I spelt invincible because of their location,

Brother road Cap, I've heard it said about certain neighborhoods

in these United States of America that life expectancy is

at very high in some neighborhoods due to violence and

other risk. You want me to believe you're gonna be okay,

go to the world of the churches and attending services

there rather than taking a drive to a holiness church.

You want me to believe your life expectancy's gonna be

better than somebody like brother Gable is driving fifty minutes

and somebody like sister Heller's driving fifty minutes to get

to church. Son, I passed up by many so called

church to get here. For six years. I drove two

hours one time. We had a seven week revival, and

I tried my best to work almost every day that

Edomites had more going on inside than a desire to

live in a safe neighborhood.

A right.

It seemed a lot of people they were living up

there to be safe. It seemed like it was smart

for them to do that, Brother Ethan. But God said,

you can reside up there all you want to, and

you can think more how to live yourself than you

ought to. But you're gonna be brought down to the ground.

And I want to be any player to come tonight.

I want him to play whatever the Lord has put

upon his heart to play. And I wanna tell sweet Bethel,

I love you. We can close out tonight singing I

have hope that we can shout the high praises of

God again. And I want you wanna leave this building

with just in rapture spirits. I want you ought to

rejoice all this week with big smiles on your face,

that God has blest just timing again, has been so

good to us that there's been some people that have

been told to praise him greatly. I didn't look around

as Sister would, and I have a sneaky suspicion that

they didn't do it and still have it, and they're

gonna just let the church move on and they're gonna

thank Sister how that they're gonna get by. Not in

my neighborhood. So in little Dutch community is a watchmaker

who loves his family a lot, loves to Jews a lot,

and they want to do something to help others. His

motives were pure, vision was clear, his heart was clean.

And then in February of nineteen forty four, someone kicked

his door in I have a bird tonight for somebody.

You're refusing to humble yourself. You may be listening online,

you may be standing in this building, but you think

an awful lot of yourself, just like the eatabies did.

To think that God has it noticed, and that God

has it kept a record every time he said amen

to Jessebel, every time he said let's give ay have

the benefit of doubt.

He's got a good heart.

It's not what the word God said. And I'm gonna

hold true to what I said that last night of

our convention about these these folks that say they're still

working with people and after ten years there's no change

because their hearts are not pure. They don't want to

do right. But the Samuel they have no intentions on

doing right. That little old Church of God woman is

still cutting her hair after all them years that her

mother didn't. It doesn't matter she became a pastor's wife

or not. Her husband could testify before God and say

she always had a problem with that. And I'll give

you this to each his own. And I hope we're

searching the scriptures for in them we think we have

eternal life. And I hope we have received the spirit

of holiness, and I hope we have been changed in

a good way. But I will never be convinced that

somebody's heart.

Is pure and after God, when they repeated a year,

atter year, aut a year, and it gets a big decade,

half a century, and they're still repeating the same offenses.

They know to do good, and their hearts have deceived them.

The pride of their heart has deceive them because they

could sing. They could move the feelings and the emotions

of people in the house. But I want to call

a reason this. So could Michael Jackson, so could Elvis Presley.

They could summons the emotions in a mere moment. Whitney

Houston could pull the heart strings and pull down tears

and every eye in the house, and she died a

drug addict. If you were to talk to people in

hell tonight, they would say the same thing. Their heart

is old. They didn't mean any wrong, they didn't mean

any harm by it. They didn't intend to harm themselves

or others. But it's too late. Once you're in hell.

It's too late, once pride has led you destruction. It's

too late, once that houghty spirit has brought a fall.

And I want to pull for somebody, just for a

couple of minutes.

We must humble ourselves. We must humble ourselves under the

mighty end of God. Is there somebody to night go to,

come to this altar, kneel down and pray and say God,

I want to humble myself before you humble me.

I want to humble myself before you humble me.

I want to say this again. There's been men that

are ruined the good reputations a good man if the

cause of jealousy and being pride, they don't be held

accountable for them, if they don't.

Repent of that and ask God to forgive their.

Destruction as theirs to hold. I want everybody to listen

to the real carefully right here before they say, as

you pray, I will keep this person's name from you,

I will not rebuild in you. But a holiness person

sent me a men yesterday or.

They went something like this, David was a filth.

He minded well pe man and adirtured him. But yet

God chose him to give us the songs.

And even though that hair lipts me and my self righteousness,

I must accept that he was a filthy my octation.

Immediately I felt very ill and very sick because I

knew that as a twisting of the scripture, and that

is not biblically sound. David was a young man that

loved the Lord with all of his heart. The Bible

said that David meditated on the Lord day and night,

that David's spirit behind after God even swam upon his bed,

and his tears. His heart was so clear towards God

through time. He made some critical mistakes after he had

ascended to the throne, and he did commit adultery, and

he did commit murder. But David was never a filthy

minded person. David never had a greedy spirit. They put

emphasis on his wealth. That wasn't what God was looking over,

Brother Jesse as he became the beloved, sweets almost the Misrael,

because when David realized he had fallen, he said, creating

me a clean heart, old God, and renew a right

spirit within me. His testimony was, I know what it

is to feel clean. I know what it is to

have a right spirit. I know what is not to

be troubled. I want you to know al the minded,

greedy miser would have never been able to soothe the

heart of Solt.
