Bethel.
-
I thank God for your giving. I appreciate you so much.
-
The Honduran shipment has made landfall. We have looked at
-
our package, which is a pallet full of about fourteen
-
boxes of gifts that you all gave from the Barrels
-
of Blessings Ministry. We've looked through the glass door and
-
saw your palette, your Barrels of Blessings. Thank you so much.
-
They go tomorrow to collect it. And you know how
-
the government is, the government of Honduras wants forty bucks
-
for us to get that and to take it out
-
of the port. So you know what I'm gonna do tomorrow.
-
I'm gonna send them forty bucks because we're not gonna
-
let four thousand dollars worth of clothing item sit there
-
and them take it for forty bucks. I'm not gonna
-
be stubborn. I'm not gonna put up any resistance. But
-
if you'd like to give that forty bucks, there's an
-
envelope nearby. You could toss it in there and just
-
say to help retrieve our belongings. Amen, all right, I
-
want to preach a message the Holy Ghost titled obligated
-
to be His Oracle, not only are we obligated to
-
be the arms and legs, the hands and feet of
-
the Master. We are obligated to be his oracle or
-
his mouthpiece. If you will turn with me, we will
-
look at Romans chapter number one and mad direct your
-
attention to verses number fourteen through sixteen. Brother Jesse, First Corinthians,
-
chapter number nine and verse number sixteen, And Brother Samuel,
-
Genesis chapter number four and verse number nine. Are you
-
glad to be in the house of the Lord tonight?
-
I am thankful for the way the Holy Ghost moved
-
in the service up until this point. I appreciate your
-
obedience unto the Lord. And truly the Lord has shown
-
his pleasure concerning your obedience and kiss this service with approval.
-
And I'm thankful for that all right, Brother Jesse, first Corinthians,
-
chapter number nine and verse number sixteen.
-
My brother, for though I preach the Gospel, I have
-
nothing to glory of, for necessity is laid upon me. Yay,
-
woe is unto me if I preach not the Gospel.
-
For necessity is laid upon me. Is that what it said,
-
Brother Jesse, For necessity is laid upon me? Woe is
-
me if I preach not the Gospel. This is a
-
message the Holy Ghost titled obligated to be his oracle.
-
When you walk out of those doors tonight, I hope
-
you have a sense of obligation, Brother Samuel, Genesis chapter
-
number four and verse number nine.
-
And the Lord said, unto Caine, where is able thy brother?
-
And he said, I know not. Am I my brother's keeper?
-
He should have felt obligated to be his brother's keeper.
-
And there's many reasons for why he should have felt
-
that way. All right, let's stand for the reading of
-
our golden texts. Romans chapter number one, reading verses number
-
fourteen through sixteen, the Bible said, I am debtor, both
-
to the Greeks and to the Barbarians, both to the
-
wise and to the unwise.
-
So as much as.
-
In me is I am ready to preach the gospel
-
to you that are at Rome. Also for I am
-
not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ. For it is
-
the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth
-
to the jew first and also to the Greek. And
-
verse number sixteen he declares that he is not ashamed.
-
And verse number fifteen he declares his eagerness to preach
-
the Gospel Brother Thomas Stereoret is eager and obligated to
-
be the Lord's oracle, and so should we all. Let's pray,
-
Heavenly Father, we love and we praise you. We thank
-
you for the opportunity to be in your house.
-
Lord. I need you desperately. You know how much I
-
need you.
-
Lord, Lord, I fell a bird, and second to none
-
I've ever had. I need your help, Lord, annoying this
-
thy servit seat of guard at my mouth, and help
-
me to say the things that you would have me
-
to say. Nothing more less, I pray that you would
-
annoy the ears of this thy people, that they might
-
hear what the Spirit of God says unto the church
-
tonight through this preach word of yours Lord, may these
-
sayings go below the shoulders that them saturate the spirit
-
and the soul.
-
I thank you for that. Lord.
-
We give you praise and honor and glory in Jesus' name.
-
And the church said, hey, man, as you're being seated,
-
look at your neighbor and say, hey, neighbor, do you
-
feel obligated to be his oracle?
-
Hey? He man, praise the Lord.
-
Our text is found in a New Testament book of
-
the Holy Bible, the Book of Romans. This particular book
-
of the Bible was written for the Christians who lived
-
in Rome, both Jewish people and non Jewish Christians. It
-
is in this Pauline epistle that we find the great
-
Apostle Paul making it clear concerning the Gospel of the
-
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There is no doubt that Luke,
-
the Beloved Physician, had felt it his duty and his
-
responsibility to make the Gospel of Jesus.
-
Christ very clear.
-
In fact, when we look at the writings of Luke,
-
specifically Luke's Gospel and the Book of the Acts of
-
the Holy Ghost, we find that Luke offered much insight
-
into the workings of the people of God and the good,
-
sweet Spirit of God. And the Apostle Paul was also
-
one that had a sense of obligation concerning offering clarity
-
concerning the revealed will of God, which was Jesus Christ
-
in person, and also concerning the Gospel, the Bible, the
-
Blessed Book the revealed Will of God. So the Apostle
-
Paul here in this Pauline Epistle the Book of Romans,
-
he goes the extra mile in making it clear that
-
Christians should be righteous people. In fact, one of the
-
sole winner's greatest tools is.
-
The Book of Romans.
-
Early on in ministry, simply from repeatedly reading the Book
-
of Romans, I picked up on the fact that it
-
was one of the best books that you could use
-
in leading somebody to Jesus Christ.
-
How many of you have ever heard of the Romans Road?
-
I remember a few months ago I mentioned that to
-
some of you to church. Probably about fifty of you
-
told me you had never heard of the Romans Road.
-
That is a soul winning tool.
-
And a lot of the scriptures that are part of
-
that soul winner's tool are scriptures taken from the Book
-
of Romans. And so we find here in chapter number one,
-
in verse number fifteen, Apostle Paul states that he is
-
most eager to preach the Gospel to the unbeliever and
-
to confirm the gospel to the believer, the Gospel of Romans,
-
if you would, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It tells
-
us how to get right with the Lord. Years ago
-
I heard a black brother singing a song and the
-
lyrics go something like this, And my daughter in law, Rachel,
-
likes to sing it. I've had her sing this song
-
to me before, meaning she has text to me the
-
lyrics of what was on her heart, and I could
-
hear her spirit singing, and it goes like this, Let's
-
get right, church, and let's go home. The Book of
-
Romans will help you get right. It will show you
-
the way to the path of righteousness. When attempting to
-
lead someone to Christ, a soul winner will refer to
-
the verses of scripts are found in this book more
-
so than any.
-
Other book in the Bible. I believe that.
-
And the Bible said, a soul winner must be wise
-
if they're going to be successful, if the Kingdom of
-
God is going to be advanced and enlarged by any
-
single believer, they must have a good knowledge and understanding
-
of the Gospel. And they must be full of wisdom.
-
And the Bible said, if any man lack wisdom, let
-
him ask of God, which upbraideth not, will give it
-
unto them liberally. Now wonder how many people in this
-
building tonight terribly lack wisdom? Is it not poor judgment
-
for you to live your life feeling like there is
-
no need whatsoever to attempt to win one soul for Christ?
-
Is it not poor judgment and a terrible lack of
-
wisdom for you not to feel a sense of obligation
-
to tell somebody there is a devil's hell to shine
-
and a Jesus filled heaven. Again, it's evident that the
-
apostle Paul felt it it was his and every believer's
-
responsibility to reach the loss with the gospel. In First Corinthians,
-
chapter number nine and verse number sixteenth, Paul states, for
-
those I preach the Gospel, I have nothing the glory
-
of for necessity is laid up me. Yay, wool is
-
unto me if I preach not the Gospel. Notice what
-
is written there, for necessity is laid upon me.
-
It sounds to me.
-
Like he felt obligated to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.
-
I'm so thankful that brother Jesse Howell gave a good
-
report a little while ago that through a sense of obligation,
-
he had felt it important to pick up that nursing
-
home ministry that Sister Walkem and I had laid down
-
because we moved on to other ministries and coming behind
-
us had an impeccable time. Brother Jesse come through just
-
when an elder woman needed a preacher to come through
-
the most, and he gave her some spiritual nourishment that
-
was most refreshing for her soul.
-
Only was she refreshed.
-
By the water of the Word, but her family was
-
refreshed as well as they saw somebody that possessed them
-
a sense of obligation to reach the sick and the shutting,
-
somebody that was willing to reach the least and the
-
lost and the lonely. The results of that seed being planted,
-
his brother Jesse will be the keynote speaker at.
-
Her memorial service.
-
And oh, thank God for one little seed that was
-
planted in a nursing home. It has opened up an
-
opportunity to spread the Gospel seed to.
-
That woman's family.
-
All that every person who possessed professorsm to be a
-
believer would share these feelings with the apostle Paul, For
-
necessity is laid upon me, and yea whoe is me
-
if I preach not the Gospel. Every believer, especially those
-
who belong to the Bethel ho in this church, should
-
feel obligated and compelled to reach the least, the lost,
-
and the lonely with a message of hope. We should
-
feel the need to reach our fellow man, and within
-
our local church, we should feel the need to grow
-
in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord and
-
Savior Jesus Christ, and to develop and to grow and
-
to be mature in the things of God. Right here
-
in the midst of our church family. I can find it.
-
In a lot of churches today. There's only a handfull
-
of people that are interested in helping.
-
Do things around the House of God. Holy.
-
Your hand of people are interested in helping with the lawn.
-
Only a handful of people are interested in helping with
-
a cleaner before and after a church fellowship. Where is
-
the sense of obligation concerning these kind of of things,
-
I believe to night, I've made it.
-
Clear to you already the the problem.
-
We're a lot of the Pentecostal and holiness churches, he is,
-
nobody's got that sense of obligation anymore.
-
Only a handful you do.
-
If you go to this church and another church, that church,
-
and another church, the pastor will tell you the only
-
him and his wife and a select view feel the
-
necessity of doing something.
-
Around the House of God.
-
I heard a pastor recently say that only he has
-
a desire to be on the new church for that
-
church family. I don't want to reign on his parade
-
that I want to say this. If nobody has got
-
a sense of abrogation now, they will not have a
-
sense of abrogation to take care of it an actress death.
-
Nobody will feel it necessary for their responsibility to overseal.
-
The House of God.
-
All the necessity of servitude. This is a pastoral message tonight.
-
This is directed to the members of the mestel hol
-
in his church. And I know without a doubt we've
-
got one of the most unified, closely knit groups of
-
people that I've ever been around. I have been in
-
church for fifty years and like a lot of you
-
that have moved here have said, we have never seen
-
it on this fashion. I believe it is the key
-
to the moves of God that we have coupled with
-
a desire for sanctified living. I feel like a unified
-
people who are sanctified could expect nothing more than a
-
down pour from the glory world of Almighty God. But
-
I know amongst the seventy or eighty here to night,
-
that's probably only sixty. And that is a remarkable number
-
that I am one of them preachers that I'm not
-
going to let two to five for one or two
-
decide they're not going to help with the Lord. And
-
you know what, it comes more just swinging a mopa
-
in the men in the women's bathroom. It comes more
-
then pushing a vacuum cleaner up the center out and
-
dragging it between every few. What about some of you
-
that don't want to do that? But why, oh why,
-
when you come to God's house do you not have
-
a sense of obligation that.
-
You owe it to God Almighty to.
-
Worship Him, to be active in service and the lift
-
ype the Holy name, Oh Jesus. Ever since they save
-
me the naught, he washed me cleaner, I'm my sin,
-
there's been a praise in my soul.
-
I can't help me say thank you Lord.
-
When a preacher preaches like this, You know, sometimes we
-
immediately think of those that operate in the ministry of helps.
-
We think of Brother Justin and Sister Kathy rope Cap.
-
I mean, brother Caleb in his life time has seen
-
Mom and Dad are church workers. The Howill family can
-
tell you that whenever I was just sitting in a
-
few and the how Will family were members of a
-
holiness church. We were church workers when we were not
-
members of a holiness church, but members of a Church
-
of God. And when my wife was a member of
-
an Assembly of God, we were church workers without makeup.
-
She's been a church worker, which she was not sactified
-
with makeup. She was a church worker her. Y'all listening,
-
do me? And I know I feel like I'm preaching
-
to the choir of tonight. I know I feel like
-
I'm really not hitting ten or twenty or thirty on
-
the head with this message tonight. But I want you
-
to know God dealt with me this afternoon to tell
-
you you need to know something about India. You need
-
to know something about endearment. The reason why Dorcas had
-
such a powerful influence over the people this because of
-
how active she was in her local church.
-
I'm telling you there's a lot of people.
-
They won't what Iris Wooton's got. They won't what Charity
-
How's got, they won't what Kathy roe CAP's got, they
-
won't what Justin roe Cap has. But they don't understand
-
it takes a becoming part of the family of God.
-
And this is a reason why a lot of people
-
stay outside of the fringes.
-
It is because they know what they need to do.
-
Even some have a sense of obligation, but they choose
-
not to do it.
-
Amen.
-
Whenever I started coming down here and mode church yard
-
for another church for years and I never got any praise,
-
I never looked for approval, affirmation, or applause. And to
-
be honest with you, I really never expected God to
-
do anything wonderful for my family as a result of it.
-
I really never looked to receive some kind of benefit
-
for my actions towards the family of God and given
-
towards them. But I have found that it was most
-
beneficial and that God compensated me because I was willing
-
to do it. I am not tooting my own horn.
-
I'm not being arrogant, I'm not being proud. I'm just
-
trying to lead you by example and let you know
-
you can do it if you will tune in to
-
that sense of obligation.
-
There's some of you. You got a sense of desernment there.
-
Some of you consens the boogerman in the neighbor on
-
the pew. You consense the problem with a charismatical on
-
the job. You consense the problem when Nancy Pelosi and
-
Chuck Schumer. Some of you could even sense the problems
-
with Donald Trump. Oh come on now, but where is
-
your sense of obligation concerning evangelation, A concerning reaching out
-
to a lost and a dying world and helping your
-
church family with day to day church business.
-
Pastoral message right here?
-
Twenty plus years of pastoral ministry right here coming out tonight.
-
When attempting to lead someone to Christ, you have to
-
use your mouth. I'm telling you.
-
If my dad and Mama were backslid that they were unsaved,
-
they would hear from Jeremy Howell at least once every
-
month concerning the need for their salvation. I remember first
-
Realiznce Howell so many had lost a sense of obligation
-
in our Pentecost and Holiness churches. When God dealt with
-
me after a season of prayering fashion to walk around
-
and pass out flowers inviting people to revival, I asked
-
about twenty brothers, would you be interested in going around.
-
With me and knocking on doors? And I went with
-
one man.
-
That was not really serious about the Lord, because the
-
Bible said to go with two.
-
And the reason why I went with.
-
Him because he was the only one with a sense
-
of obligation to do something for the Lord. I'm gonna
-
tell you you need to put your arms and your
-
legs and your hands and your feet to work.
-
Yes, but you've also.
-
Got to use that mouth. And that's what Apostle Paul
-
was saying. For necessity, it is laid upon me. God
-
then ask you to spend all afternoon prayer about tonight's message.
-
God's commissioned me to do that. And that's why I wonder,
-
oh how I wonder why so many took theirself away.
-
They never purchased a tract. They never feel the need
-
to tell somebody about their state her mind not being wrong.
-
They never feel a burden to tell somebody about Jesus.
-
There's something wrong with that. There's something wrong with that.
-
And I say this humbly.
-
Multitudes are gonna go to hell for that.
-
Hold that every person who professes to be a believer
-
would share these feelings with Paul and so many others
-
in the Bible. Brother Jesse, I'm not telling people to
-
make their mission fill their job, although it can be one,
-
and if you don't use wisdom, it won't be your
-
mission field very long. I'm not telling you to be
-
slothful and lazy and put tracks in everybody's lunch box.
-
I'm telling you to fast and pray and ask God
-
who you can hand a handful of purpose too. I mean,
-
may the spirit a bow asp come upon you that
-
you could see a root out there somewhere gleaning of
-
some roots out there barely getting by some root out
-
there scraping the bottom of the barrel at night, And
-
may you drop somebody a handful a purpose. Do you
-
know why brother Richard Jacob is here tonight because Brother
-
Jeerimiah took a message's pastor preached and put it in
-
the audio sermon library. And brother Richard Jacob, he took
-
that handful of purpose and God convicted him and have
-
to plant him where he says he's doing better.
-
Ah, come on, now, what about it right here tonight?
-
Do you feel see it of obligation to pray with
-
somebody until they pray it through? Do you feel a
-
sist of obligation to pray with that young person until
-
they receive the Holy Girls.
-
We used to have a sense of obligation to pray
-
with a young sister.
-
Sisters, you know why because somebody prayed with us until
-
we prayed it through.
-
Who are you preaching to tonight, pastor all of us?
-
I'm preaching to myself.
-
Every believer should feel obligated and compelled to reach the least,
-
the loss and the lonely, all the necessity of servitude.
-
Paul and the other apostles understood this, regardless of what
-
benefits they may or may not receive, they knew expected
-
it to be done. The great commission is to be
-
fulfilled by any and every believer. Any and every believer
-
needs to feel obligated to do their part. What I
-
like about about the Holiness Church, there are enough outreach
-
ministries for you to get involved in to help you
-
with that sense of obligation. Why didn't Caine have a
-
sense of obligation towards being a great older brother the Abel?
-
This afternoon, God began to deal with me about the
-
attitude of Cain. And that's where so many Holiness and
-
Pentecostal people, and of course the nominal churches.
-
I'm not preaching to them. I'm not part of them.
-
So sitting down, shut up, and letting me preach to
-
your Pentecostal and Holiness churches. I'm not preaching at a
-
Baptist convintion. Tonight, I'm talking to some it should be
-
their brother's keeper. And the Bible set in Genesis four nine,
-
and the Lord said of the cane.
-
Where is able thy brother? And he said, I know not,
-
Am I my brother's keeper? It's every bit.
-
The Caine had a bad attitude, and his answer reveals
-
this to us. He felt no responsibility for his brother,
-
I said, he felt no responsibility for his brother. But
-
what he did for you was to be his brother's rifle.
-
What he did for you was a spirit of competitiveness.
-
And when God shut it down, he was upset with
-
his brother.
-
Man.
-
Pastoral message to night, what's happening in all these churches
-
that used to run one hundred, two hundred and three hundred. Well,
-
we started outreach ministries, they say, after we got down
-
to twenty and thirty. But the motives are impure. Whenever
-
you're doing it to post it on social media?
-
Is then?
-
Is it then hey self denial work? Is it then
-
making yourself of no reputation work?
-
Oh?
-
Come on, now, we may share of what we do
-
with one another here at Bethel, But I ain't melling
-
out flyers trying to tell everybody about what we're doing.
-
Sometimes you can make a good thing a bad thing.
-
I ain't talking about sharing it with your family. I'm
-
talking about by advertising about.
-
What you're doing for the lord.
-
And that's where that young ruler was, That's where that
-
rich man was.
-
Rather just see.
-
Everything he had done. He had done to be seen
-
by others. He had done it for somebody to check
-
up ruble boxer, for somebody to check the affirmation blocks,
-
for somebody to check her.
-
Oh, come on now, the applause block. What about it?
-
Jesus would show him how to make yourself of no reputation.
-
That would have been the day he became nobody, and
-
Jesus would have been these somebody.
-
That was his problem.
-
He didn't like the fact that he'd had to blend
-
in with his brothers and do what Jesus commissioned or
-
commanded him to do. That word commission seems a whole
-
lot more friendly than the word command, doesn't It. Isn't
-
it interesting that Cain would rather be his brother's rival
-
rather than having a revival with able Ables over there
-
having revival and Cain's wanting to be his rival. I'm
-
telling you, when you get in it your modus better
-
be pure, brother, stare at you know what he'd rather do,
-
like most jail less people do. He'd rather commit a
-
violent act against Abel than seek his brother's best interests.
-
He'd rather slay his brother. Oh, come on, now, is
-
that not where we're at today? Somebody'd rather ruin the
-
reputation of somebody that selfless and somebody that's given and
-
only to be seen by God. But somebody rather murder
-
their brother. What happened to me and your brother's keeper?
-
Where's the sense of obligation that I must be my
-
brother's keeper, that is my brother? Sounds to me like
-
Caine had the same attitude problem. The prodigal son's older
-
brother had. Thank you, Holy goes the prodigal son's oldest brother,
-
he had a problem. And if I'm not mistaken, that's
-
found in Luke's Gospel around the fifteenth chapter in the Brotherhood,
-
we find the eldest brother his reaction to the return
-
of the younger brother, brother Samuel.
-
Was not a good one.
-
And the Bible said that the father had to go
-
out there to the eldest brother, and he had to say,
-
why are you not coming in? And I did a
-
little research on that word of what the prodigal son's
-
father did to the oldest brother. That was a few
-
months ago. I was concerned about that particular word, and
-
it literally means he scolded him because of his bad attitude.
-
And so the father goes out there and says, you've
-
got a bad attitude concerning.
-
Your younger brother.
-
I'm asking y'all here tonight, where was the eldest brother's
-
sense of obligation concerning.
-
His little brother?
-
I mean, he told the prodigal son's father said, son,
-
you've been with me.
-
All that I have is yours.
-
You're about to have pre eminence, You're about to have prestige.
-
You're about to be a powerful man like that ruler
-
that brother Jesse talked about. You're about to have the estate.
-
You're about to have it all. Why can you not
-
go in there and celebrate with us? You know what
-
I feel like the Holy ghost he's showing me right now,
-
he will have said something like this, where's the sense
-
of obligation? Do you not realize the people in this
-
community are looking up to you?
-
Do you not realize your little brother needs you now
-
more than ever? Oh my God in heaven, I try
-
to help somebody to not see yourself.
-
Amen.
-
I remember seeing them that felt like they had to
-
go to work on Saturday because the pastor called for
-
a church workday. I could preach this to encourage us
-
to evangelize the lost and dying world. And I can
-
preach us to encourage us to be our brother's keeper.
-
Because I tell you this after service today, I doubt
-
Brother Jesse felt like doing nursing home ministry, but there's
-
a sense of obligation. And do y'all know for six years,
-
I'm not bragging. I am being as humble as I
-
can be and speaking the truth in love for six years,
-
Sister Hole and I I got six little kids ready
-
and we drove two hours to church. And when we
-
got caught by one of them phosphate trains on the
-
back side of Fort Meen, a two hour drive became
-
a two hour and thirty to forty minute drive at
-
one o'clock in the morning, concerned about falling asleep and
-
then not being in park and running up vehico up
-
and under a phosphate train car. You with me, I'm
-
telling you, Brother Jesse, And what kept me coming it
-
was this mysterious sense of obligation. See him brother and
-
sister Platte in here on a pew, see him brother
-
and sister Hammond in here on a pew, and in
-
time seeing brother and sister wooting in a pew. It
-
was just a six of them, and I had this
-
tremendous sense of obligation. I felt like I had to
-
do it because I felt like Sister Wooden's words to
-
me are true. Sister Woodness told me often recently she said,
-
I feel like if you had to come here when
-
you did, I would have died and went to hell.
-
Now that's easy for a great woman of God like
-
her to.
-
Admit, But what about you?
-
Will you admit that you've lost a sense of obligation.
-
For any man that properly marries a woman, he knows he.
-
Will get a sense of obligation.
-
I remember when Brother Jeremiah was born December fifth, nineteen
-
ninety five. That means in just a few days, brother Philip,
-
he will be the big thirty. I remember when I
-
turned thirty. I remember thinking I was as old as
-
Jesus was when Jesus began his ministry. And brother Jerebiah
-
remember turning thirty three. In getting around thirty three and
-
a half and thinking my Jesus was dead and gone.
-
I'm telling you he was alive forevermore, of course, but
-
his ministry on this earth was over. And brother Jesse
-
Jesus had told his precious mommy one time, at the
-
age of twelve, he said, woman, do you not understand
-
I must be about my father's business. He had a
-
sense of obligation, Sister Howell, concerning the commission that the
-
Trayum God had had ordered.
-
For him to do.
-
And I remember when brother Jeremiah was born by Cecerian section.
-
I remember hearing him cry for.
-
The first time, and I lost my breath, And after
-
about four or five seconds, I was able to catch
-
my breath. What it was, This awesome sense of obligation
-
of my baby boy came over me. And I was
-
a different man right then than I was even when
-
the first sits of obligation came when I'm married, Charity Howell.
-
Are you me right here?
-
There's too much revivaling in so many churches today for
-
them to go out and to reach the lost and
-
the lonely. They're spinning all the resources on revival. I'm
-
for revival, but they're so desperately trying to grow their church.
-
They spend their resources on preachers that are preaching the
-
same messages repeatedly.
-
Not all the summer coming in without a burden.
-
But all they gotta do is do what God said,
-
go out into the world and preach the gospel. But
-
we'll run this one through of a certain pedigree. We'll
-
run this one through of a certain pedigree. We'll run
-
this one's through of a certain pedigree. And then we
-
thank God because after ten years we had a church
-
changing revival. But in them nine of ten years we
-
had a rival spirit. Hey man, what's this church doing?
-
What's this church doing? How many of they running? I'm
-
telling you God's fields are empty because people are lacking
-
a sense of obligation. Brother Jesse, I'm telling you I
-
believe that prodigal Son's father said to the oldest boy,
-
don't you feel obligated?
-
Brother Caleb.
-
You have the older brother syndrome like I do, And
-
I have the eldest brother syndrome. And I know there
-
are times when my younger siblings reach out to me.
-
It's not very often anymore, but most of the time
-
when they do, I may or may not want to
-
get involved in what it is they're bringing to me.
-
But brother Jesse, because I'm the eldest brother, I feel
-
somewhat obligated.
-
To help them.
-
Come on, now, you look at our golden text again, Romans,
-
chapter number one and verse number fourteen. He said, I
-
am debtor, both to the Greeks and to the Barbarians,
-
both to the wise and the un Why you tell
-
me that this man felt like he had a monetary
-
debt to those people.
-
Absolutely not.
-
He hadn't been to the Greek or the Barbarians bank,
-
He didn't know anybody any money. In fact, he forsook
-
it all for Christ. He said, I counted all but
-
done that I might win Christ. But he's said I'm
-
a debtor. Do y'all see this a sense of obligation?
-
This is a pastoral message, Hey, come on now. And
-
he said, I'm a debtor to the wives and the unwise.
-
Y'all know what an unwise person is, right, it's a fool.
-
And he said, I got a preach to the wise,
-
and I got a preach to the fool. I got
-
a preach to those that walter truth, and I got
-
ap preach to those that.
-
Despise the truth.
-
Down through the years, I've heard many believers say this,
-
I am not ashamed of the gospel. Is it that
-
down there around verse number sixteen, brother Wood, I am
-
not ashamed of the Gospel. I've heard them talk about it.
-
I've heard them talk about walking out of their front door,
-
walking through their lawn, getting in their car and driving
-
the church. I've heard them talk about the other people
-
got in their car, hooked up to their boat and
-
went to the lake. I've heard them talk about their
-
unashamedness concerning the things of God. And then you back
-
up another versa and they're basically eager to do this
-
and that. But whenever it comes to feeling like they're
-
indebted to doing it since to how, then it's a
-
different story. Then when it comes to obligation, then it's
-
a different story.
-
As the how. They never say I'm a debtor.
-
In fact, the laol to see church, we're rich, increase
-
with goods, and we need nothing, including a preacher. Most
-
holding his churches today, I wonder if they want a pastor,
-
and every pastor that's listening would say amen to that.
-
They want a preacher. They don't want a pastor that
-
will watch over the flock. They want a preacher that
-
will feed the flock. A pastor is to watch and feed.
-
A pastor is to speak into your life. A pastor
-
is to tell you what is safe and what is not.
-
I feel a sense of obligation to tell you, you
-
go there, you won't make it back. I feel sense
-
of obligation to tell you you mess with that you're
-
gonna get burnt. I feel sense of obligation to tell
-
you that relationship is not with you.
-
Oh, my God in heaven, Jesus, I'm I trying.
-
You got me into this, Jesus, and I have a
-
sense of obligation to preach it.
-
Jesus. Amen.
-
Oh my lord, brother, you may not be ashamed of
-
going to church, but do you feel indebted? Do you
-
feel obligated? I mean, it's one thing to strut into church.
-
Man, Praise the Lord. We're here.
-
Praise God. I'm unashamed of this. But how about come
-
Monday morning. While the world chases a lifestyle of indulgences
-
and selfish and sinful pleasures, we boast that we're not
-
ashamed of the Gospel. We're not ashamed to grow our
-
hair long, are we, ladies? We're not ashamed to wear
-
our garments long, are we men?
-
And ladies? We're not ashamed to keep our hair cropped?
-
Are we men? We're not ashamed?
-
But what about when it comes to feeling indebted to
-
tell the lost and dying world that Jesus saves and
-
that Jesus lives. Woe unto me if I preach not
-
the gospel. Charlie Kirk at least had a sense of
-
obligation concerning speaking out concerning national security and patriar Arctic things,
-
and even concerning the will of God, the Word of
-
God and the revealed will of God. He was definitely
-
open concerning the scripture. And you know what, whenever he
-
was assassinated, when that voice of truth obligated to be
-
his oracle, when that voice of truth was silenced by
-
the liberal left, people came out of the woodworks unashamedly
-
citing their entitlement of free speech and showing their support
-
for freedom of religion. That I remember telling you all,
-
give it three or four months and we'll see what happens.
-
And one of the boys told me while we were
-
in Tennessee, we were supposed to be wearing red in
-
the honor of Charlie Kirk. Now tell me how many
-
people you saw wearing red amongst the tens of thousands
-
of people, Maybe less than a hundred, I said, maybe
-
less than a hundred joined in that effort. I don't
-
care what it appeared like on social media that there
-
were the masses willing to wear red in the.
-
Face of the public.
-
The truth is a lot of them did not feel
-
obligated to be the oracle. They did not feel obligated
-
to wear red in public.
-
You know why, because.
-
They did not want to be in the liberal leftist
-
cross hairs. And that is why a lot of holiness
-
men no longer preacher, wasn't said the word of God
-
because they don't want to be he in the politicians
-
cross hairs. And all I can tell you hypocrite is
-
put me in your cross hairs. Many have since lost
-
that feeling of obligation to supporting the cause of Charlie Kirk.
-
There were some beautiful songs written of what we're gonna
-
do and how we're gonna.
-
Change the world. Oh Sweet Jesus.
-
Many have lost that sense of obligation since that was
-
faird initially, why we shouldn't forget Charlie Kirk's mission. But
-
even more so, we shouldn't forget about the mission of Christ.
-
He said, for necessity is laid upon me, for woe
-
unto me if I preach not the Gospel. Every Christian
-
should worry about being ostracized. They should feel obligated. And
-
that's where we're at. That's why you can't get very
-
many holding us of Pentecostal people. And I'm not down
-
on the holdness of Pentecostal people, but I'm gonna say
-
it again, I'm not preaching the Southern Baptist Convention. You
-
can't get many of them to hold a sign out there.
-
You know why, because they don't feel obligated to do so.
-
You mean the man that crawled up on a cross and.
-
Died for your sin, and was literally publicly mocked and
-
spit upon and mistreated and died for you and literally
-
stripped naked and a shame us before all.
-
Oh, come on, now, the wise and the unwise.
-
He was ridiculed. And yet you will not stand out
-
there and hold a sign. You're ashamed to put a
-
track to hold a gasoline pump at the convenience store.
-
Me, Oh my, what are we gonna do when we stand.
-
Before Jeremiah and Esther and Jeremiah and all these other
-
agreement of God on Judgment's day, what we gonna do.
-
Charlie Kirk's death motivated some to do better. In fact,
-
some are biting at the bit right now to do better.
-
But not everybody is canvas Owen's come out fighting Whenever
-
Apostle James was martyred, some came out fighting. When Apostle
-
Peter was martyred, some came out fighting. I can tell
-
you this. You let Jeremy Howe be maded for the
-
gospels sake, and there's gonna be something in them howl
-
boys snap. When the devil took Jephtha and Brother Nathaniel,
-
Sister Rachel, if you're listening, I mean the harm by this.
-
But when the.
-
Devil took Jeptha, I said, I hate you now morning
-
I've ever hated you. And if you thought this was
-
gonna convince me to leave holiness, I said, I will
-
now preach holiness more than I ever have before. And
-
there's some of you throwing your head up and down
-
and shaking it sideways up and down and shouting right
-
now amen, amen, But I'm asking you if that shoe
-
was put on your foot, how would you wear it?
-
Would you stand up in church and say something like this,
-
the devil's been fighting me, and stop testifying and stop
-
singing and stop preaching. Oh yeah, ten thousand devils said,
-
it's because I preach holiness. But I remember the night
-
the Holy Ghost showed me and Brother Nathaniel he was
-
right here, and I was right here, and we wept
-
and cried as God showed us Jepta was gonna die.
-
We wept and cried, and we prayed, and God spoke
-
to him and I privately in our spirits, and our
-
spirits spoke to one another, and we knew God had
-
told us He's taken Jepta. And now if I go
-
to Alva, Florida. It was my grandson that was the
-
first one planted in the new cemetery. I bought the
-
first eight plots, and the lawyer from Fort Myers bought ten.
-
We were the first two, I believe, and on my
-
desk pulled out recently, is the deed of them plots?
-
Should John need it, it's there, huh. You know why
-
sometimes we say things other people wouldn't say because we
-
feel a sense of obligation that it needs to be said.
-
Sometimes there's some things that need to be said and
-
nobody else wants to say it. Brother David King told
-
me years ago I just started preaching. He said, Brother Jeremy,
-
you know what makes you preaching different? I said, I
-
have no idea. I didn't know it was different. He said,
-
you'll say what none of us will say. And he said,
-
that's why you have results. He's not talking about me
-
being a wild bull in the China cabinet. He's not
-
talking about me being unwise. We haven't been unwise here.
-
An unwise man wouldn't grow a church. I haven't grown
-
to church. The Lord has grown the church. We haven't
-
built a church. God build a church. I feel a
-
burden right here. Somebody's getting this. Why is it that
-
only a handful feel it's their duty to do something
-
for God? Why do only a few sister how felt
-
obligated to spread the good news. You don't have to
-
be a preacher. You don't have to be a pastor
-
young men. I had a young preacher come to me
-
years ago when I started making the ride down here
-
six hours I mean two hours here, two hours back
-
with six kids for six years. He came to me
-
and for some unknown reason, just out of the clear blue,
-
he said, don't expect any of us to fill your burden.
-
Don't expect any of us to share your burden. What
-
you're doing is impractical, doesn't make sense, what you're walking
-
away from, what you're giving up for them, six people
-
down there.
-
It's impractical holding this preacher.
-
You burning fifty bucks to go down there eighteen and
-
a half years ago, diesel fuel five dollars a gallon.
-
It seem practical. You helping finance the work. It's insanity.
-
He said, don't expect us to share your burden. And
-
I said, where did that come from? I've never asked
-
you to. But today's sister, how while I was praying,
-
God dealt with me there in my office and said,
-
how many flowers has he passed out since he told
-
you not to expect him to share your birden? How
-
many doors has he knocked on? How many corners has
-
he stood on. I'm not talking about somebody in a letty.
-
I'm talking about a preacher. He told us to go
-
into the highways and into the hedges, and to compel.
-
We're commissioned to compel. I feel like there's a burden
-
descending upon somebody. The night my heart changed, Brother Randy
-
Webb was preaching in Lake Placid, Florida. And this is
-
no commercial for Lake Placid, because I hadn't been there
-
in probably twenty years. But I tell you that was
-
about thirty years ago. Brother Randy Webb was preaching and
-
he preached a message titled having a Pioneer Spirit. And
-
one preacher heard me telling about it, and he got
-
up and preached on having a pilgrim spirit and gave
-
my story. And so at the church he came to
-
me and he said, I want to tell you a story,
-
and I preached, don't have a pilgrim spirit. He didn't
-
still brother Randy's message. But I said, that ain't what
-
brother Randy preach. I said, Brother Randy, preach, have a
-
pioneer spirit. And Brother Jeremiah, when I got that sense
-
of obligation, it didn't matter if we had six or
-
sixty or six hundred, I had to be here for
-
that little lady right there that I love dearly. And
-
for that one, it's been over with her forehead on
-
the pew, cry praying in tongues. My sense of obligation
-
was real brother Jesse, before there were seventy or eighty
-
in this building, before the building had been remodeled. Twice,
-
I feel the Holy ghost in this place. God will
-
turn your heart for the better.
-
Tonight.
-
May a selfish spirit leaving, May a selfless spirit be
-
imparted through the power and from Jesus. It's the sense
-
of obligation that makes us excited to share with others.
-
And Second Corinthians around Worse Number twenty four, Paul gave
-
us a list of things he endured for the gospel's sake.
-
Five times beaten by the Jews, receiving thirty nine stripes,
-
per beaten, stoned and left for dead. Three times I
-
suffered shipwrecks, spent a full day and night in the
-
dark ocean waters.
-
He was in peril.
-
He was robbed by his own countrymen and heathens, and
-
brother Aaron Wood. From what I could determine, that was
-
about halfway through his ministry. So if he was to
-
start writing that list again, the list to go on
-
and on and on and on and on, and just
-
before I went to walk out of that office as
-
to how esther came to my then Mordecai commanded to
-
answer Esther.
-
Esther, he told.
-
Esther, think not thyself that thou shalt escape in the
-
King's house more than all the Jews. God may have
-
promoted you, pretty princess, to the palace, and you may
-
be holding the King of Astra's forearm when he's sitting
-
in the throne. But little lady, you got too big
-
for your gown. And he went on to say, if
-
you hold your peace at this time, then shall deliverance
-
arise for the Jewish people from a different place, from
-
a different source, from a different person.
-
Oh God, Hell told Jeremiah the prophet.
-
He said, I have decided not to mention him anymore,
-
But then the sense of obligation his word is in
-
my heart as a fire shut up in my bones.
-
And I'm weary with forbearing, and I cannot stay as
-
to how why could he not hold back? Because he
-
was obligated to be his oracle commission from a child.
-
And I want to tell every one of you children
-
of God, the day you were born again, you were
-
commissioned as a child.
-
And except she become.
-
As a little child, ye shall not enter into the kingdom.
-
Brother Jesse, when you come to the piano tonight, I
-
remember being around the age of twelve and hearing this
-
song for the first time. I'm sure it had been
-
sung many times, but I heard it for the first time.
-
Brother Philip.
-
The lyrics jumped out to me and I got a
-
hold of it. It talked about his house being full,
-
but his fields being empty, and Sister how it said,
-
who will go and work for me today? I'm fixing
-
the drag, Brother Jeremih of the mission field in the
-
next couple of months. And Sister how one thing it
-
will do. It will change your oldest baby boys heart.
-
They're all her baby boys. They're all her babies. When
-
I come into church, I'm not looking for anybody to
-
flash to smile at me. I'm not looking for a
-
handshake or a pat on the back. I feel since
-
obligation to come into his house and say thank you
-
for your blessings on me, thank you for saving me.
-
Tonight's message has been a pastoral message to the Bethel
-
Holiness Church, and I realize I'm preaching to seventy to
-
eighty and I realize over sixty five of you are
-
wonderfully blessed of the Lord because of your giving. Sister
-
Janet Hill, you have felt a sense of obligation to
-
support our barrels of blessing ministry. It has no greater
-
supporter than Sister Janet Hill. An eternity will show maybe
-
she'll never get to go here and there with Brother
-
Nathaniel and I. Maybe she will, But in eternity there'll
-
be somebody that will walk up and say, Sister Hell,
-
I had been praying for some new clothes. A precious
-
sister recently put some money in an envelope, and she
-
wrote a very nice, proper letter, and she said, Pastor,
-
you know where this needs to go. You know the
-
mission opportunities and outreach is more than I do.
-
What she didn't know.
-
To the penny that covered a need in the mission field.
-
Brother Jeremiah, it has been my honor, my privilege to
-
watch my kids be amazed when he paid bills, and
-
only he could pay because we were working in his fields.
-
Sister how it's been a beautiful joy of ours to
-
go through McDonald's and see that offering that Brother Platte
-
gave us be just enough to feed our family to
-
the penny. And because of this, I feel obligated to
-
preach until I die. Because of this, I feel obligated
-
to serve him until the last breath I take. Let's
-
stand tonight. This message can be life changing for some
-
in this building.
-
I appreciate you all so much.
-
This is a given church, it's a revival church, and
-
I commend you for that. But to four to five
-
of you, I feel like God wants to bless you
-
in a very special way tonight and give you the
-
sense of obligation. Once you get at that, you can
-
never shake it. Let's bow our heads and close our eyes.
-
If you're that one, Sister Hannah Howell Edwards, what makes you,
-
a week and a half after delivery, want to get
-
back to that primary class and teach like you did
-
this morning. A sense of obligation, a joy. Don't mistake me.
-
We don't do it begrudgingly. We don't do it with
-
murmuring and complaining. It's an honor and a privilege to
-
be obligated to be as oracle. If you are here
-
tonight and God has dealt with you as brother Stare,
-
it plows into this altar as as somebody else. I
-
want you to talk to the Lord. Don't look around
-
and see who's done praying. I want you to have
-
a life changing encounter and experience with the bird and
-
get tonight. Let him give you a bird and ask
-
him what he would have you to do. If you're
-
seeking the Holy Ghost, ask him what he would have
-
you to do.
-
Sing it Amen,
