A Frontline Call - Pastor J. D. Howell 11-30-2025

First King's chapter number nineteen. May I direct your attention

to verses number nineteen through twenty. Brother Jesse Matthew, Chapter

number four, Verse number twenty one, and Beloved, I'd like

to direct your attention the First Samuel, chapter number seventeen,

Verses number seventeen through twenty.

I want to say I.

Greatly appreciated the words of Brother Thomas Stare at Sister

Janet Hill tonight. They were most refreshing to my spirit.

It really encouraged me to see them working for the

Lord and doing service for their King.

It coincides with the burden of my heart.

Tonight I want to preach a message the Holy Ghost

titled the front Line Call. And if you go back

and listen to messages of recent weeks, you will notice

that God has been speaking to us concerning ministry. And

after that message that was titled Obligated to be His Oracle,

additional ministries have been added to the church here. Thankful

for willing servants that are willing to do something for

the Lord. And it's plain to see, after watching the

way things have went today, that God is not at

all happy with any Christian sitting at ease in complacency.

And obviously among seventy seven people, there's two or three

or four that are doing that, and that is not

what a Christian does. They do not just set their

idol doing nothing for the kingdom. And I want brother

Nathaniel to read first Kings chapter number nineteen, Verses number

nineteen through twenty at this time, please brother. So he

departed thence and found Elisha, the son of Sayfat, who

was plowing with twelve yoke of auction before him, and

he with the twelve, and Elijah passed by him and

cast his man upon him. And he left the auction

and ran after Elijah and said, let me I pray

the kids.

Here's my father and my mother, and then I will

follow THEE.

And he said on to them, go back again, for

what have I done to thee?

What happened to Elisha? That day?

He received a call to the front lines, praise the Lord,

brother Jesse Matthew, chapter number four, verse number twenty one.

And going on from Thence, he saw other two brethren, James,

the son of Zebedee, and John his brother in the

ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets.

And he called.

Them, amen, what happened to those two fishermen that day

they received a call for service at the front lines.

Let's stand for the reading of our golden text. Pray

for me too. I'm feeling a little bit under the

weather here tonight. First Samuel, chapter number seventeen, verses number

seventeen through twenty, and the Bible said in Jesse said,

unto David his son, take now for thy brethren, and

efa of the parts corn and these ten loafs, and

run to the camp of thy brethren, and carry these

ten cheeses unto the captain of their thousand, and look

how thy brethren fare, and take their pledge now Saul

and they and all the men of Israel were in

the valley of Elaw fighting with the Philistines. And David

rose up early in the morning and left the sheep

with a keeper, and took and went as Jesse had

commanded him. And he came to the trench as the

host was going forward to the fight, and shouted for

the battle. Would you pray tonight, heavenly, Father.

Lord.

I know there's many in this building tonight filling under

the weather, including myself. I need you help desperately. I

pray that you would give us the strength that you

gave the man who had the withered hand, the one

we preached on this morning. I need you, Lord, set

of guard at my mouth, helped me to say the

things you would have me to say. Help me to

say nothing more or less, and on the ears of

this people, that they might hear what it is the

Spirit of God says unto the church tonight, not of

my words, but if your words, we pray God, let

the words go below the shoulders, Let them change the

soul and the spirit. That's what this is all about, God,

to help people transition and move on to change.

We praise you for that.

Maybe we depart this place joyfully and not sorrowfully. In

Jesus' name in the church said hey, man, look at

your neighbor and say, hey, neighbor, have you received the

frontline call?

I believe you have.

Every child of God in this building tonight are recipients

of a clarion call for commitment and.

Service to the Lord.

Our text is found in an Old Testament book of

the Holy Bible, the Book of First Samuel. For many

years I've loved reading the books of First and Second Samuel.

In fact, the first time that I preached a message

from the Word of God, I was around the age

of ten, and for whatever reason, during Sunday nap time,

I was in my bedroom preparing for what my parents

thought would be an app and I sat in the

floor and Brother Micah I took my Bible out and

I began to read this specific chapter, the seventeenth chapter

of the Book of First Samuel. And when I got

around these particular verses, verses number seventeen through twenty, to

my surprise, something that I was very unfamiliar with the

spirit of God that moved upon the elders of our

local church there at the Mulbred Church of God. That

same spirit moved upon me, and I remember feeling in

pressed of the Lord to go from reading to preaching

about this narrative, and had my first encounter with the anointing.

And I never forgot it. I never will forget it,

I believe, as long as I am in my right

mind and not dealing with Alzheimer's or dementia, God forbid

that happen. But I believe I will never forget my

encounter with the Lord that day. It was the beginning

of an understanding that God was summoning me to the

front line.

And I know it. Two and a half.

Years ago, God gloriously saved, sanctified, and filled a lot

of our young.

Men with the Holy Ghost.

And not long after that He empowered them and enabled

and evidently equipped them for ministry. When I look upon

the ministries of these young men and all of the

Bethel preachers, even our full time evangelists, when I look

upon the way God has highly anointed them, I just

stepped back, bowed my head, thrown my hands up toward Heaven,

and humbly I state, who but God could do such

things as these. It was clear many years ago that

God had sent brother and sister Brock here. It was

as though it was yesterday when they became a part

of our church family. And I know we see them

a handful of times throughout the years, but every time

they come around.

You could just since that closeness. Have y'all noticed that?

And also the Larramores and other ministers that are affiliated

with our church family, including the pastors overseas. And I

haven't got to tell you yet, but God has blessed

us with other connections. Just in the last week, God

has connected us with other ministries on the foreign feel

praise the Lord. It's just because of simple obedience to

maintaining life and the church on the front lines being

busy and about the Father's business. Brother Samuel howeill nudge

me during the congregational singing tonight and he said, Dad,

all day long, ever since you preached to us this morning,

I've been thinking about those lepers that were content to

do nothing, until finally one of them stated, what are

we doing? How can we just sit here until we die?

And if you listen to the words of Brothers Sister Shivers,

they ring true, and they're so similar to the words

that you all spoke over the last couple of years.

You say, concerning your spiritual situation, you were not gonna

just sit there and lose your soul. You knew there

was something more to life. You knew there was something

more to ministry. And I feel like here tonight that

God is going to speak to some people concerning a ministry.

I felt it this afternoon a Sister Howell was taking

a nap and I was sitting in that recliner wrestling

with the Lord for liberty. What to preach tonight? In

the same Holy Ghost that I felt that particular afternoon

as a ten year old, moved on me again and

he told me to preach this message.

Title the front line of call.

I can tell you that it was a glorious thing

that the Lord Dinah in the life of my sons

and son in law too and a half years ago.

Can I tell you it was a glorious thing that

the Lord Dinah in the life of David, James and

John and Elisha, that these brethren read about here tonight,

that moment God made it clear that they were to appear.

On the front lines.

I feel like there's people in this building that have

learned from history, and I want to use a few

examples from biblical history showing you that every person that

belongs to the family of God has been commissioned to

be their brother's keeper, whether saved or iron saved. I've

heard a lot of people say if I had a

bold paid attention to history, I would not have made

the same mistakes that other people have met aid I'll

tell you one of the most horrible things that you

can think of somebody doing, it's them not protecting their

own self and them not protecting.

Their own family.

For them dying, lost and unknone without God, never knowing

why He created them, never knowing why they were fearfully

and wonderfully made. You do know the primary purpose of

your existence through Him that lives in you, through Him

that gives you the breath of life, and He that

gives you your being or existence is simply the walk

in communion with Him and to hear the clearing collar

of His voice to do for others, all as you

when worsh somebody to do for you. It doesn't matter

where a prodigal son and daughter at tonight. What you're

hoping he is is that somebody he's.

Doing what you're doing.

Wherever they're at, whatever country they're in, whatever sitting they're in.

You're hoping there's somebody doing what God told them to do.

Your prodigal son and daughter's only hope is that there's

somebody listening to what God has told them to do.

Our youth Pastor taught our young adults and our young

people today about the Apostle Paul. He said, while the

Apostle Paul was young, he was studious, and he was

a student of the picture tuck Or the Torah brother

Chipproart's em and then after reading Appauline epistles that this.

Man of God had.

A lot of knowledge concerning the letter of the law.

He had a strong grip on the ceremonial sacrifices. He

had a great understanding oh religious worship and activities.

And God used him.

But whatever Christianity's greatest persecutor in Paul, he would to

persecute some more. The holy ghost of Heaven mood and

Jesus in the form of a son, he appeared. And

Paul knew right then, the one that I studied about

since I was a little boy has called me to

the front lines. And I'm telling some of you you

gotta get off the high horse and kiss the dirt.

That's the woman I give. God said the night.

Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God. He may

be riding high in your toss to night, but get

off that high hoar, I said, get up that high see, Paul,

you may be a member of the saying he right, God,

humble yourself.

Amen.

In fact, Apostle Paul had this testimony. I was obedient

to the heaven of calling and when everybody else was afraid,

even members of the early Church were concerned about his

reception or about his adoption into the family of God.

There was one man that was listening to what the

Holy Ghost said, and his name was Annie, an old brother.

Annie wasn't sitting there coming complacency in a comfortable couch

in a cozy corner. He was praying in the same

Holy ghost Brother Phillip's. God spoke to Brother Anonis and said,

don't be fearful about your new churchman.

He is one that I have called.

He is one that I have commissioned, just like a

commissioned brother Billy Broccer.

He is one that I have called in the act

of duty.

Not only has he been commissioned in the service, but

I have put him on the front lines of Christianity.

And I want you to know here to not the

battle lines have been set and the line has been

drawn not by Lucifer's finger, but by the finger of Tide.

God has the clear war on Hell, that is Timer,

that is Kingdom. Be a bead. What was brother start

talking about tonight?

He feels in a soul that he must be about

the Father's business on a daily basis. God hasn't asked

Brother Sarah to build a legacy, although he is apostle

Paul did Oh, come on now, and so did Mother Teresa,

whether she was a woman or God or not. I'll

let you all and Jesus be her, Jesus her judge

and jury. Just because you build a legacy, though, it

does not mean you did it for God. And I'm

telling you all here tonight, whether you're building a legacy

or not, Oh, come on now, I'm telling you you

got to be doing something. I can tell this some

of you you are content to sit back and to

look on and you see God's children down there in

the valley sword the sword, not a scabbard with a

sword in it, and gaze in conflict and fight for

the life of their babies and the church. For my

question is, how can you sit there and watch life

have to life be lost.

And blood be spilled while you sit there? Amen?

How is it?

What's wrong? Will you? Bama? Daddy?

You can best fight, oh your niece. And if people

don't get the spirit I'm talking about here tonight, Brother Jesse,

our lost loved ones are gonna die lost without God.

The church has forgotten that the call, the clarion, call

for commitment to the Commission, the Great Commission. It's not

titled the Small Commission. It is called the Great Commission

because every disciple of Jesus has been commission to evangelize

the world. You've got full time evangelists that go around

strengthening the Saints in these last days. You've got ministries

like brother Sister brought Calf, like brother Chiff Roy has,

like brother Larry Moore has, and like brother stare At

has that I'm trying to tell some of you in

this building here tonight. You looked at sister.

Here talking about Away, her, her sister Neely, her sister

Smith felt that night after God had me preach, we're

obligated to be his air collar.

And you are content to sit there and do nothing.

You consider yourself wise, You consider yourself calculating after your

contemplating the risk that I want you to know, anybody

that every been anywhere and not sucker forgotta was just

as smarter and just as wiser as you. They considered,

they even contemplated, and yes, calculating.

The risk, but they were will enough to fight. I

hope you're praying for me here tonight.

I could say this day whenever Jesse felt like telling

David to go take some cheese and some bread and

some provisions to his brethren. It was a sovereign act

of all Mighty God. And I can say here tonight

that God is still sovereign. He always has been and

always will accomplish his purpose with or without our copper cooperation.

But if you're gonna get to Heaven, you're gonna have

to cooperate. I've heard preachers preacher as though it's voluntary.

I want you to know, even the nation of Israel

to this day knows that every child that comes to age,

we all serve in the military. And that's the way

it is in the family of God. God ain't commissioned

anybody to sit pretty in the few service at the

service and do nothing.

I hope he has my cooperation.

Isn't it easy for us to sit there and fancy

ourself on the thought of what it would be like

to be David Livingston? How many of you remember David Livingston.

I preached a message years ago titled the Dark Continent.

Oh what a move of God we had that night?

Was his name, David Livingston.

They set up until those natives cut his heart out

of his chest.

You could still see the scars on his.

Body from where a lion I believe it was attacked

him not long after he obeyed the Lord. There is

a side of that history, but the Samuel steric that

a lot of people don't know about. And this ought

to touch your heart right now. And if it doesn't

warm your heart. At the Len Harris used to say,

why you ain't got no heart, You've got a thumping gizzard,

you cold hearty snake. That's what Sister Wood's mother used

to say. But after years of ministry on the Dark Continent,

to David Liliston's wife, she decided enough is enough not

being with David, and she sailed across the sea and

her some other missionaries. Wife's disembarked from that vessel and

they tried to hike until they found their husbands.

The natives let them ride into malaria.

They let them ride in the sickness, and every woman

but David Livingston's wife died.

Oh come on now, wanting to get on the front lines.

Well, I'm gonna tell you, I can't preach, but I know,

Sister Highwak, He's on the front lines with me. And

that's how a police minister's feel I pray wife didn't

dispel it, how I feel the need to be on

the front line.

My mad amen.

Amen, Hell couldn't pry Jackie Brock's fingers off of Billy

Brock in ministry. Every time I've seen him preach, she's

had his back. Should I keep preaching? Or shall we

go to the chicken house? Because if you don't want

to hear it, it won't do me any good anyway.

But you know what, sister Livingston, she pressed on even

though her sisters died and never made it to their

husbands and brother Ethan. They say that she finally got

with David and spent a few days with David, and

David said, Honey, the best thing for you to do

is leave this jungle, leave this wilderness, leave the plainliness

of touch Iris wootin And you know what she said,

through the spirit of Ruth, as Ruth spoke down on me,

she said, David, Hi, I got them two babies back home,

and I left them with Dad Mama, and they're in

good hands. They are the product of our Martal union.

Have been faithful to you, David.

All these years.

But I'm with you, David, and I'm not gonna leave you, brother,

Natan you. It wasn't but a couple of months later,

and she took malaria, and David waited on her hand

and foot, and he went in there and cooled her

fever brow. And she died in the dark continent. But

I want you to know here tonight, she died on

the front line, seen the lot her husband go to

the fight. A lord, I'm telling you, when your hosband

he's on.

That he.

S It was the sovereign hand of God that swept

over Jesse that day when he said, hey, boy, come here,

leave the sheep coat to our servants. There ain't nobody

taking better care of them than you. But David, run

the bread, run the wine, and run the cheese to

your brothers. I said, it was a sovereign hand of God.

And Jesse went as a man among men, and he

raised up men of God. And you know what, Brother

Jesse pointed out to us that even when Saul let

the Arca leave, Jesse's sons were the ones housing the

arc of God.

Did you know that, hey, was it a been a

dab a ben a dab.

And her son Uza They were housing the son of

Jesse a been a dab hey. There was something about

them men. And you know what all of them boys are, Jesse.

We're in the military, and all of them were watching

the Philistine champion come out and treading up people.

I've got okay, Amen, Little brother came that day.

You know, the one that nobody expected to be the

anointed one, you know the one that everybody overlooked. You

know the one that everybody considered to be the underdogs.

And this is where I grab Sister Grace by the

wrist and I pull her in. And this is when

I grab Brother Josh by the wrist and I.

Pulled him in with me.

All of them that you supposed to be the underdog.

I'm preaching the whole of you right here in this.

Some of you are looking for a way out. You

know what. Don't talk about Bill Clinton, come on now,

about him being a draft dodger. Don't talk about Barack

Obama's oh bur certificate being questionable, whether or not it's

fathid as sirt of pieblet. If you are not willing

to say, I'm a child of Kadda and I'm willing

to fight for him.

Amen.

Amen, Amen, you know why I asked him for the

Holy Ghost so that I could help on the front lines.

You mothers of Israel.

Sometimes whenever what was David's honorable, honorable, honorable soldier, you're Rajah.

You know. Sometimes even when Joe Abbas pushing your Riah

out on the front lines with the intention of having

him die.

Sometimes if the mothers.

Of Israel would be on their bend and knee praying

for those that are on the front lines, you may

not have the death of your Riah the Hittite if

that bathing beauty Methsheba had a bent on her knees praying, Oh.

My God, Amen, Amen.

Hey man, the modern day Psalmus wrote the song if

you're in the battle for the Lord and the right,

keep on the firing line. This country was founded on

the leadership of George Washington, and any student of history

in this building tonight, you know George Washington was not

of the persuasion that you send the troops to battle

while you stay and you'll find how with your wine

and cheese.

Hey man, you know what God just showed me.

Jesse knew them mother boys didn't have courage because a

soldier had got time for wine and cheese and bread.

You get around Jeremy Howe when he's working, you can't

even hardly get the man to take a break.

The howl boys know.

You get Jeremy how fishing and you can't even get

him stop and take a break. Since the how And

I raised our sons on the water, and our daughter too.

And I'm telling you, buddy, we knew when we went

fishing it was an all day affair. When you went

hunting with Willard Cleyon Howell, it was an all day affair.

You know what.

I think Jesse had a sneaky suspicion that they needed

a real man to come down there. And that's what

glythe has been asking for all the wild Anyway, I

wonder if the couriers of the news had through the

paper with the headlines the Philistine champion good Liath is

asking for a man. And Mama, Mama Jesse sitting out

there by the whell the Bethlehem were them waters are

to satisfy the soul.

She just looks at Jesse, who's steal a man, and

she says, are you gonna go get him? Jesse?

H He went as a man among men, even in

his old age, I'm telling you, I'm sure, Mama Jesse,

Jesse's wife said, you're gonna go silence the giant. You

gonna go silence. H And Jesse probably thought, I'll just

send my baby boy and we raising men of valor

around here. That's what I want to do. That's the

desire of my heart. That night, my heart broke in prayer.

They said they butchered my wife during that emergency surgery

so bad we never have babies again. The nurses told

my wife said, yours butchered as any piece of meat

in a meat market, said, they messed you up.

We couldn't conceive that.

One night, I but fell at the recliner, actually at

the Love's accounts they called the love seat, whatever they

call that thing.

And I prayed.

Brother Caleb in the spirit of God moved and here's

what he said through me. He asked, Almighty God, he said,

do you still raise up men of God? And by

biblical proportions, nine months later, Jesse was born. I'm telling

you heard it in the Bible. God miraculously provided a son.

Nathaniel was born, Samuel was born, Philip was born, Jeremiah's

been born. And now all these wonderful sons of God

around here. And you know what it was, Sister Hammon,

God knew nineteen years ago, in July of two thousand

and six. I was buying my own business, going about

my own routines, happy in life, just helping my pastor,

doing whatever he asked me to do, and things he

didn't ask me to do, including taking care of the

church yard without any complaining, without even complaining about the equipment,

without ever turning in a receipt. And then one day

I realized God's putting a word in my heart Lobel.

I told Sister how I said, I don't know anything

about Label. What is it about Label? I told Brother

Wilburn Thompson. I said, what is it about Label? He

smiled and he said, Brother Jeremy, I know about a

church in Label, and.

I believe you're going to end up down there. I prayed.

I was busy.

I'm telling you're really busy, running my own company, working

in my fall.

There's business.

But I realized there was something going on in the

inside of me. God was calling me to the front lines.

There was a Robert Duke Hammon, and a Francis Gilhammon

and a Johnny and Barbaraplight to four soldiers down here

trying to hold down the fort to in the palisade, and.

They needed somebody. I said, they needed somebody.

And you know what, God didn't let me hide behind

a pension, a parsonage and a paycheck. There was no

money coming in and for six years, I'm not boasting.

A two hour drive to South Florida and a two

hour drive home. And Brother Thomas there had said it tonight.

He said, years ago he heard about that man in

the independent Holness movement that had been driving to the

front lines.

Hang all girl, hang at duke.

Brother Johnny Platt told me one night after a good service.

Our kids were little then, Brother Nathaniel wasn't dancing on

his feet. Then Brother Jesse was probably coloring in a

crayon book then and said, hey man between lines, oh Jesus,

after that service, right out there on that porch, Brother

Johnny Platt said, you're a camp meeting style preacher. He said,

you're too good of a preacher. I'm not boasting. I'm

telling you facts. He said. For you to be driving

down here, he said, I feel like we're holding you back.

And I said, is that really, how you feel that

you're holding me back?

And he hung his head and wiped the drool from

the corner of his mouth, and he said, not really.

He said, I do feel like you're a camp meeting

style preacher. I do feel like you can make it

as an evangelist. I feel like you could pastor a

bigger church. But he said, I was thrilled to have

you here. He said, we're thrilled to have the help.

And Sister Hamm and I walked away from that patio,

that front porch of the church, saying, if help is

what you all need down here, then I'm at your service,

reporting for today.

And we got on the front lines.

General George Washington got on the front lines for this country.

Should I keep preaching? Is anybody gonna move?

You know?

By now? You thank you to got.

Off that comfortable couch in that cozy corner, hey man.

In this particular battle, there's two opposing forces. There's a

good side and a bad side. There are forces Brother

Jesse are about to clash. There's about to be a conflict,

and everybody is wondering who is in the leadership rolls.

And there saw leading Israelite army and brother Jesse, there's

Goolath leading the Philistine army. But brother Nathaniel, to my surprise,

up until this point, there was no battle cry going forth,

and there was no trumpeterear heralding the call to war.

You know why, because nobody wanted to lead the church.

I said, nobody wanted to lead the charge. And that's

what Jesus knew. That day he walked on the Sandy

seashore and he summons them men of Galilee. He said,

I need some men to begin as disciples. Are y

all getting it? I'm gonna tell you if you're tired,

I'm definitely tired.

Amen.

They began as disciples. They weren't apostles in the beginning.

They began as disciples, which literally means students at the

feet of a master. Students, Brother Jesse, get this, It

means apprentices. Brother Nathaniel told you all last night late

he submitted his son is go outlining to me and

he said, Dad gave me some things to add to

my lesson. That just really helped me, Brother Jesse said.

The other day he messaged me and he said I

had just torn between what to do, and he said,

lessen five minutes Dad gave me something that really helped me.

That light and the load. That is what Paul was

in the life of Timothy. For that is why you

have spiritual leadership. There's been a lot of times Brother

Johnny Larry Moore has texted me. I haven't given him

the message, but he has said, Pastor, I'm preaching on this,

do you have anything to add to it? And I

just give him two or three minutes of thoughts and

he said, Pastor, that is good. And I want you

ought to know right here, when Jesus told James and

John who were sitting in the ship with their father

mending their nets, to come and follow him, he was

not making them leaders. He did not offer them leadership

rolls at that time. They were apprentices. And that's what

I want to ask you here tonight, whether you're in

a leadership role or whether or not you're in a practice,

you ought to be on the front line and what

the Lord has asked you today. And they'll steal this

one and they can have it, because the word of

God is not mine, it's his, and so is every

sermon he gives me. I'm not standing there reading out

of my notebook. I'm not plagiarizing. I'm not reading verbatim

word for word what some other preachers preached. This is

fresh bread coming right out of my living room and

my office floor, Praise the Lord. Did yo know man,

that comes up out of the pastor's office floor. Hey man,

you get the kissing that dirt like that, sister said,

But this is fresh right here.

You ready, This just came to me.

Why I'm preaching you'll go from an apprentice to an

apostle now when they're preaching that one at their big

camp meeting. Remember, the Holy go set it first, not then.

It don't matter whether or not Jeremy House said it.

The Holy Goot said it first. They were apprentices, before

they were apostles, and before Jesus hung on a cross,

he knew how to make one.

And I'm asking you right here, right now.

I know carpenters in that day were Stonemasons for the

most part, but they did would work too. But you

know what, brother, I'm asking some people here tonight to

take up your cross. And sometimes you have to manufacture

your own cross.

Y'all ain't getting it.

Sometimes you got to say, well, mom and Dad ain't

gonna go Sister, Brocks pastor wrote that song. She watched

him be original that due wasn't a plagiss. She watched

him saying, if Mamy gonna go, I'm going anyway. She

watched him get annointed and saying, brother L. L. Collins

is his name. And you know what, brother.

He thought, I bought it?

Is there any wife's in this building the night, just

gonna let your husband go out to the front lines,

and you not go with him.

I'm gonna remind you of.

What Sister Livingston said, David, I've been separated from you

long enough. If this is where your ministry is, then

this is where I'll die. And little did everybody know

she'd be dead in just a little while. And you

know what, He buried her under a tree. Sounds like

Abraham when he had to buy the field where the

cave of Macpela was, and he said, there I buried Sarah,

and his son said, there I buried every time them

precious men of God had them precious women of God.

They knew where they buried him. What was your first
