God Can Handle Your Heartache - Pastor J.D. Howell 6-14-2026

Will you turn with me to the Book of Exodus.

May I direct your attention to the second chapter. We'll

be looking at the twenty third, twenty fourth, and twenty

fifth verse tonight. I appreciate you being in the house

of the Lord tonight, Brother Nathaniel, Will you turn to

first Peter chapter number three and verse number twelve, and

Brother Jesse Saint Matthew's Gospel chapter number fourteen. You'll be

reading verses number thirty through thirty two. Again, Brother Nathaniel.

One Peter chapter number three and verse number twelve, and

Brother Jesse Matthew, Chapter number fourteen, verses number thirty through

thirty two. Brother Nathaniel, would you read that verse Peter

three and twelve.

Please, for the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous,

and his ears are open to their prayers. But the

face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

Aren't you thankful that the righteous person's prayers are heard

of the lordy man, Brother Jesse Matthew, Chapter number fourteen,

verses number thirty through thirty two.

My brother, but.

When he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid and

beginning to sink. He cried, saying, Lord, save me and immediately,

Jesus stretched forth his hand and caught him, and said,

unto him, O, thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

And when they were coming to the ship, the wind ceased.

Peter cried. Peter cried.

Early this afternoon, the Lord put it upon my heart

to preach a sermon titled God can handle your heartache.

Let's stand for the reading of our golden text, Exodus,

chapter number two, will be reading Verses number twenty three

through twenty five. The Bible says, and it came to

pass in process of time that the King of Egypt died,

and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage,

and they cried, and their cry came up, and God

by reason of the bondage, and God heard their groaning,

and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, with Jacob.

And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God

had respect unto them. Look again at verse number twenty four,

and God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant

with Abraham. Look at verse number twenty three, And the

children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and

they cried May we pray, Heavenly Father, we love and

we praise you. We thank you for the opportunity to

be in the house of the Lord. With thank you

God for these people of light precious faith. I pray

that you will set a guard at their ears, help

them to hear your voice.

Lord, We know you hear our cry. We know you

hear our hearts.

Cry, the silent cry, the loud cry, the cry and

the prayers of your people. We pray Lord, that we

would hear your words. We pray that you would anoint

this thy servant, set of guard and my mouth, and

help me to say the things you would have me

to say, nothing more or less. We pray these sayings

would go below the shoulders. Let them saturate the heart,

the mind, the spirit, and the body. Lord, May we

depart this place joyfully and not sorrowfully in Jesus's name.

And the Church said, Amen, as you're being seated, look

at your neighbor and say, hey, neighbor, God can handle

your heartache. Our text is found in an Old Testament

book of the Holy Bible. The Book of Exodus is

a very special book of the Bible to me because

many times I have referred to this particular book of

the Bible to give people who felt like they were

being held captive by their spiritual captor's hope. And there

is no doubt that the very aim of this book

speaks hopeing to the heart of any captive. I've heard

of people being abducted and being held in captivity for

one or two days, and after one or two days

of being held in captivity against their will, and after

numerous hours of crying out, they have welcomed people to

come and deliver them. There have been people that have

spent countless hours, numerous years being held in captivity against

their will. I've heard of people being discovered after spending

twenty to thirty years in captivity, perhaps in some twisted

person's basement, and even though they were in that twisted

person's basement, being abused, and perhaps it even brought forth

children into this world. Their testimony has been the closestem

Neighbors never paid any attention to their cry. I've heard

neighbors say, after many years of gone by, and after

the deliverance, I thought a time or two over the

years that I heard somebody crying. Early this morning, around

four point thirty, I heard this loud alarm sounding off,

and I believe it was God bringing something to my

attention and the Lord requiring some prayer time of me.

And after a while I asked Sister Howell. I said,

Sister Howell, did you hear that noise? And Sister how

was a very light sleeper, and Brother Jesse. She didn't

answer me, and I asked her again. I said, Sister Howell,

did you hear that noise? And she did not answer me,

And finally I put my hand on her shoulder and

I said.

Honey, did you hear that alarm?

And I could tell by the way she answered me,

Sister Wooton, that she really had not even heard what

I said. She was sleeping so soundly, and evidently that

alarm that I heard was something spiritual that the Lord

had allowed me to hear for whatever reason, the Lord

wanted me to be stirred from slumber and sleeping, to

be spiritual and to pray. And all day long, I've

been inquiring of the Lord what was the meaning of

the alarm that you sounded? Him my ears, and I've

been on my toes spiritually, and my ears have been opened.

Sister just tuned in for the voice of the Lord.

I said, God, speak to me concerning the sounding off

of this alarm. And Brother Jesse, I will not tune

the voice of the Lord out. But I want you

to know that we, as mortals, we have tuned out

the cries of needy people. I remember one time hearing

somebody say that they are living their life with regret

because in a certain neighborhood they heard the cry of

a young person and they disregarded it.

And they found out the next day that in a pond.

Nearby, a young child had drowned and lost its life.

If that person had only been sensitive to the need

of the hour, of the need of the moment, and

had responded properly, that young life would have been saved

and spared. But because somebody did not give heed to

that certain sound. And Brother Rick Jacob, here tonight in

this Golden Text we find a time that the Bible

readers and students could talk to us for countless hours

about when the descendants of Abraham, them special Hebrew people,

came to a place when they were no longer and

peace of mind. They were no longer happy about their

living situation. They were no longer in pleasant circumstances and

could conditions. It is during a time of captivity in

the country of Egypt, and the Bibles have they are

crying out by reason of the bondage, and many Hebrews,

including the mother and Moses, had desired deliverance from the

tyrants of such a lamb. Moses's very life was spared

because of his mother's cry unto the Lord. And when

she cried unto the Lord, there is no doubt the

Lord heard her cry, and God allowed her to rear

and to raise up a deliverer for his people. And

Moses's mother, Jacobed and his sister marry him. They made

up their mind that they would rather please the Lord

from the members of the Egyptian government, including the mighty

wicked Pharaoh, and Jacobed and marry him dared to go

against the words of the Pharaoh. Easier said than done,

But these women were willing to do what God had

put it in their heart to do in order for

their people to experience true deliberance. In the Book of Acts,

chapter number five, in verse number twenty nine, we read

an account of Peter and the Apostles saying to the

Sanhedrin Council, we ought to obey God rather than men.

You see, the followers of Jesus never back down to

the devil and his hitchmen. The true followers of Jesus

seek not opportunity to be people pleasers. If I know

anything at all about sister Iris Root, and I can

say she has no desire whatsoever to be a people pleaser.

When it comes to pleasing her lord, I have seen

her go against her very own husband, even though he

was her best friend, and even though he had her

best interest in mind ninety eight percent of the time,

when it come to displeasing her Lord, because of her husband,

she was unwilling to do it.

You see the.

Context behind Peter's declaration and statement is this The Sanhedrin

Council of Jerusalem had accused the Apostles of preaching about

Jesus Christ, and this hypocritical religious Jewish, bored the leadership

of Judaism, had told the apostles to forbid one another

from preaching in the Lord Jesus Christ's name. And Peter

he squared his shoulders and put a bony finger in

the faith of opposition, and he said, we will continue

you preaching the name of Jesus Christ and the power

that's found in the name of Jesus Christ. In other words,

Peter and the apostles did not back down like Jacob

bed the mother of Moses and the apostle Peter.

The leader of the early Church.

We should choose to obey and to do God's will,

rather than look for ways to please the government or

anyone else who attempts her to persuade us to disobey

the commandments of the Lord, taking us away from the

New Testament and featuring her into the Old Testament.

You will find.

Three three Hebrew young men who had received an ultimatum

of another powerful dictator, and they told that powerful dictator,

we will not bow.

And they did not bow. Neither did they budge or ben.

I want you to know, as the child of God,

you can reject the devil's ultimatum. If your spouse tells

you to reject Jesus and his words, you do not

have her to obey your spouse. For years I have

seen her young women be led the truth by the

spirit of God, and when they got home, their husbands

chose to bully them and mis use their scriptures and

say that those women are to be in subjection to

their husband, and they give them an ultimatum, and they

tell them not to go back to the Holiness Church,

or not to go back to that church where they're

receiving spiritual help. But the Bible told us that that

husband is to be subjective to the will of God,

and the Apostolic brethren, the founders and the leaders of

the early Church, and would tell them the same thing

they told the Sanhedrin counsel. Yes you can listen to

your husband about not spending too much money. Yes you

can listen to your husband about knowing not going beyond

the budget. But when it comes to the words of God,

it is better to obey the Lord rather than man,

whether that be husband or son.

You see?

The devil cannot stand being told to know. Pharaoh don't

like being told no. The Emperor Babylon does not like

being told know. Neither does a disobedient spouse. But according

to the scriptures that we've read in our golden texts

to night and when people are rejected, they retaliate an

attempt to afflict Again, should I say it again? When

people are rejected, they attempt to retaliate and to afflict.

And the Bible said that these descended of Abraham, these

little Abraham and these little Saracens that were scurrying out

through the land of Goshan, We're being afflicted because they

were the people of God, because they still felt like

Egyptians were unclean, because they still served their.

God and there was a remnant to try.

To worship him and spirit and in truth, and because

of the Abrahamic coming that had been given to Abraham.

Those people still felt like they may have been part

of Egypt, but they were not of the spirit of Egypt.

And that's the same thing for us as children of God.

We are mortals, and we are human beings. We are

living in this world, but we are not of this world.

We are not of the spirit of this world. And

the Bible set up any man love the world and

the love of the Father is not in them. And

can I tell you what infuriated Pharaoh was the fact

that these Hebrews would not allow themselves to become Egyptians.

And they could have been her Egyptians. Now they could

have been Egyptians at this time, for centuries had passed by,

since Jacob and his sons had been sustained by the

grain of Joseph.

seem to be so comfortable in this world. I am

comfortable with the idea of evangelizing the known and unknown world.

I am comfortable with taking the Gospel onto foreign soil.

I am comfortable with spending my own diamond dollar in

order to help further the Kingdom for the King's sake.

I am willing to be spent every ounce of streat

God can have. I'm telling you every hair on my head,

God can have every ounce of sweat. God can have.

What I'm saying is the Lord can work me as

a servict for his gruey, for his namesake, and for

his Kingdom's sake, in order to advance the Kingdom. But

I will never, I said, never declare citizenship of this country.

For Father Abraham, he told us that we should look

for a city that half foundations, whose muder and maker

is God. I'm preaching to some saints here the night

that are dealing with hardship and heartache. I want you

to know God can handle that heartache. All you gotta

do is new like these Hebrews did in the land

her beeds a pi sae God. I'm being applicted for

stending for the truth God. I'm being beaten back bew

for preaching the truth God. I'm being abused verbery for

her separating myself from the rest.

Of the world.

And I want you to know God will here that prayer,

and God will raise up her deliberal on your behalf.

That's what Sister wood And testified about this past Sunday morning.

She said, for years, for years, for two decades, I cried,

and I prayed, and I asked God to send me

a deliver that would preach the truth and help liberate

me from dead and dry services. She went on to say, actually,

we didn't really even have a real house of worship

that we could depend on being there the next month.

She said, people would come and gone.

We had dashed hopes, and we had shattered visions. We

had shattered dreams of what could be because one come

and then another came, and then so on and so on.

Sister Hammond told us that night of how many she

had in a space of less than.

Eight years, I believe if.

You counted accurately, she said, around six pastors short space

of eight years.

I don't know.

What kind of deliverances took place amongst them, six men

trying to help Sister Hammond and her family in eight years,

but I'd say if they had really been the deliverer

and Sister Hammond had cried out, for they would have

stayed and fought a few more battles with a hem

and family. Sister who gave you the scripture that said,

wait to hold the Lord Sunday morning.

Wait on the Lord, and he.

Shall renew thy strength, she said, there was a period

in my life where I just cried. Had I cried?

Had I cried? Had I cried? Her sister Hammond said

the same thing. There was a period of time when

I cried, and I cried, and I cried, and I cried.

Come on, now, how many times had jocob Bed cried out?

How many times had she got behind the tent and

whispered the prayer as the Egyptian.

I'm telling you God knows all about her your herd ache. God,

Now having a good church to go to with something

to cry over, the old timer's taught us, don't you

cry over spilt milk. But when you ain't got a

church to go to, when you don't have a house

of worship that you're comfortable with, that's preaching the whole truth.

When you get that feeling, they're not true blue pure vanilla,

blue ribbon, gray head and your troubled sister Hell. You

know where I'm at right now, Sister Neelly. You know

where I'm at right now, Sister Smith. You know where

we're at right now, Sister Hell, you know where I'm

at right now. Are y'all listening to me getting in

there early in that bedroom and praying and saying, God,

I need a deliver Do you know That's what happened

in the House of Manoah when now Mama got to

praying and the Bible said the anchel, how the Lord

here to Sampson's mother and said, I'm going to allow

you to burst them a deliverer. I'll tell you sometimes

you want to use the tears for what they are

to be used for.

You want to use the tears to move.

The heart of God, not manipulate your fellow man.

I'm pulling you.

Sampson came in to existence because somebody's cry, Ah, wocome.

The Master.

Brother, stare at you know how it was in the

times of the Judges.

They do good.

Because the deliverer rose up because somebody cried into the Lord.

And then in time they would do bad, an appliction

would come. And then after they had humbled themselves, after

they succumbed the servitude, after they had the right attitude

of humility and servitude, after they're in the sandy dunes

and don't care that the dirt's on their face, after

the tears have flowed from their face, and they said, God,

you know what we need. Sister Wood went on to say,

she said, I am no longer a multing eagle. You said,

those aren't her words. Well, that's basically what she was saying.

She said, I waited on the Lord as an egle.

And then she said, but now about nineteen years I've

been flying high.

Those are her words.

She said, I've been soaring honey in I've been flying,

she said, I've been into high places in.

God for the last two decades.

You know how that came about her, which she prayed,

she meant business, which.

She told God how broke her heart less.

But there was nobody to preach the truth that there

was nobody looking to help the liver everybody from the enemy.

Then God heard, I said the end. God heard our text. Hei, godard,

I'm telling you here the night, God will here.

A man, a man. He knows how to handle your

heart ache. He's so cool.

You'd Pastor Howell step in here, Pastor Howell, step in here,

Sister Hell. When they called us to Naples, when we

walked in the specialist office and he's sitting there, leaned

up against the table and he's got his arms folded,

he said, mister how I'm glad you came.

I'm glad you came for your boy's support. I'm glad

you're here.

I'm glad you didn't choose not to come, he said,

with you and mister f upset down. I said sure.

I looked to him, man to man, and I said,

expect bad news. Expect bad news, and you know what

that's specialist of rocking our world as politely as he could.

Unintentionally as he did, he started rocking our world. I

put my hand on his shoulder. No tear flowed down

my face. I won't gonna make him feel like it

was a hopeless cause I wasn't gonna make anybody in

this church feel like we'd have a funeral in the

next two years, although some felt like that would be

what happened. But you know what, whenever I went home,

I closed that bedroom door and I shut out my troubles.

I shut out my heartache, I shut out my grief.

I shut out my family, I shut out my wife. Oh,

there wasn't no conversation with Charity. There was a conversation

with the Lord. And I feel big, huge warm tears

flew down my face and I said, God, this poor

man is crying. And that's the summonst words. He said,

this poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and

delivered him out of all of his troubles. I'm telling

you here the night God has heard. I said, God

has heard. And when God has heard, he makes no

difference what the banker said. With God has heard, it

makes no difference what the doctor said, with God has heard.

It makes no difference what Pharaoh has said. Hey, come on, now,

God has heard. God knows how the hand of your heartache.

I said, God knows how to handle your heartache.

Them little Abrahams and them little Sarah's have been forgotten

in Ghoston.

And I want to tell you he ain't one little

any bit of child of God, every bit forgotten.

Them the little Hebrews crying out, And Bible said, then

the Lord remembered his covenant with Abraham. Then the Lord

remembered his covenant with Abraham. Well, you know what, there

is a better covenant than Abraham a covenant. There is

a better covenant than the Dividic covenant. God made some

wonderful covenants between him and Abraham and David. But there's

one is called the Messianic covenant. I said, there's one

called the messy Hadic coming. And my big brother Jesus

is holding the papers, and I want you to know.

You can ask Peter. Peter went out with Biddy that

to Jesus, saw him deny him. Hey, when Peter reap

there is parity, and since heredy behind the pair, I'm.

Telling you, Peter, Jesus hurts you weep.

I'm telling you, Peter, Jesus say, hurt you cry. You

failed him, Yes you did, but he hurts you cry.

When Peter cried, got hurt true repentance.

Our golden text said Peter got out of the boat,

and he beginning to sink, cried. That's the inspiration of

this sermon, says to say, Hell, God spoke to my

heart and said, when Peter cried, I heard. I said,

explain it to me. I'm just an Ignot country preacher.

He said, when he was out there weeping bitterly, I

heard him. When he was turning in the sea, when

he began to sick, I heard him. And I'm telling

every child of kid, whether you're a little Sarah, her,

little Abraham, her Peter, Hey, come on.

Now, God has heard your cried.

God has not forgotten you. God has not forgotten you,

Brother Jesse. I fear that hell trembles when your mother

wails in the spirit. I told her last night, I said,

don't you ever stop crawling up between these views and

wailing out for this people, sister, don't you ever stop

crying because there's one thing I've noticed about the mothers

of ears with this place. When they cry God heres

and Brother Philip. I got a sneaky suspicion that you

and Sister Elizabeth have the same kind of rapport and

relationship with the Lord. Hey, you want another child, just

go ahead and crying to the Lord. That's what Hannah did.

There are some things worth crying about. There are some

things worth calling under God for assistance over.

Oh come on, now, are you willing to cry about

it again?

I'm not talking about manipulating pullo man, I'm talking about

messaging the Master, I said. I'm talking about her messaging

for mass time the spirit. Make it the intersission, recruiting

the spirit, don't make it innercession through groodings.

to pray right now. I remember that message God gave

me for Brother Philip, Hope for the underdog. I've only

seen Brother Philip cry very few times. That particular service,

he cried and the Lord heard him. I didn't see

him cry after radiation treatments. I didn't see him cry

after chemotherapy treatments. I didn't see him cry after they

ripped his body apart.

Sister Hannah.

I expected him to cry when they put that brace

on him to hold his body together, But I did

not see him cry.

Are y'all with me? But it got in the altar

and he cried.

It sounds like Sister Hannah, right, Sister Hannah, Samuel's mother.

She got in the altar and she cried, and the

Lord heard her. You got a prodigal son and daughter.

Go ahead and cry about it. It won't do you

a bit of good to cry over truth, because truth

is truth. And I started out this message telling you

God's being will never budge or back down on truth.

The devil don't like being told no. But when it

comes to legitimate prayer requests and legitimate complaints and legitimate

struggles and legitimate problems, you can cry unto the Lord.

We know the Bible said that God here's not the

prayer sinners. Our cotext was the ears of the Lord

are open to the prayers of the righteous. His ears

are tentative to their cries and prayers. And brother Jesse.

I'll say it one more time. The altars are open,

Brother Jonathan, A message you preach just came to mind.

There's more to do than murmur. If you need a

job in order to provide for your family, that's something

you ought to cry about. If you need a pay

raise in order to make your mortgage, that's something to

cry over. If you need a healing, you need the

enemy to leave your mind alone, that's something to cry over.

Victory is yours tonight. I want to tell you I

feel it in my soul. There's some of you you

can get a prayer through. I feel like a lot

of you can get a prayer through. Heymen, Well, I've

heard a lot about my sin. I've heard a lot

about my disease, my troubles, my woes, my worries, my anxiety,

my anxiousness. Before the cock crows, you will deny me thrice.

But after Jesus looked him in the eyes, he went

wept bitterly.

And you know what.

The Lord allowed Peter to be the great preacher that

delivered the great message of Pentecost. Peter was sincerely repentant.

He saw the extent of his failures, but he knew

the extents of the Master's mercy. Jesus, I perish. Save me,

And he, beginning to sink, cried, said, Lord, save me.

You need God to pict you. You've been disappointing him

time and again, and you're sick of it. Why don't

you cry and say, Lord, I'll be honest. If you

don't help me, I'll never get over this. If you

don't help me, I need you. He's heard your prayers.

The disciples were on the sea, and the Bible said,

whenever the winds were tempestuous in the ways we're beating

against the ship. That the disciples came to Jesus as

he laid fast asleep, and they said, Master, carest thou,

not that we perish. Master carest Thou, not that we perish.

They cried into the Master. The Lord doesn't slumber. The

Lord doesn't sleep. He's just waiting on that heart cry.

He can handle your heartache. He can help you make

that mortgage payment. He can heal your sick baby. He

can fill your love and with a holy ghost. He

can save the prodigal son and a daughter. He can

fix your mind. As they sing, I want you to pray,

ask Jesus to handle your heartache, you Christ.

Yeah, there's some things not worth crying over, but there's

some things you ought to cry over if they're sinning

your life.

He disappointed the Lord. Do like Peter, weep bitterly. God,

I failed you, and I'm sorry. He'll forgive you. He'll

heal you. God Night, I've heard of people crying all

night long, and Jesus delivered me.

Set me free.

Help over this heartache, Amen, Jesus. He knows your voice.

His ears are open unto you. You'll cry. His eyes

are over the righteous. His ears are tentative tonight. I

want you, Mama, to pray for them babies. He'll hear you,

and he'll answer.

God heard them.

Egyptians had been beating them Hebrews way too long, way

too long. Finally somebody cried over it, got an audience

with a king, got an audience with a master.

He never slumbers, he never sleeps. But can you can you.

Get his attention, Jesus, Jesus, thou son of David, have

mercy on me. Blind Barbibas cried when they called him

this staring at the carpet. It's not crying to the

Lord staring at the pattern on the ceiling. It's not

crying to the Lord. Fill on you mind, shine, save

me Jesus, save me.

The Master.

And your voice and joy this time to reread yours child,

you cry, tvel.

The Master. Did it hit you without any morning? The

storm of your life had begun. See no hope in

the distance. You're frighten and knew it to run.

Mind now your vast soul is feeling and you're thinking

you'll surely drown. And you cried out for help from

the same your and know you came up.

Now me calls you pray all night.

All your mind.

Child, your cry.

Have a woke.

The Master.

And he knew your voice and your hands.
