  1. Matthew Poole: Good morning. My name is Matthew. I'm one of the pastors here. It is a joy to gather with you this morning and worship Jesus. Thank you, Mike, and the team, for fixing our eyes and our hearts where they need to be on the Lord, the Holy One. B Ws and Meredith, what a joy it is to have you here this morning. Love y'all. Such gospel witnesses. We thank God for you. Let's pray we get into God's word this morning. Would you Bow with me. Heavenly Father, we thank you that you are a speaking God. You don't leave us in the dark. You come to us and you come to us with words. Words of life, words of blessing, comfort, grace, mercy, and glory. You come to us and you give us words that are like food. And I pray this morning, God, you would help us to eat. Not just eat, but to feast. Help us to feast this morning on the words that you have for us. I pray against every distraction, every anxiety, every fear, everything happening outside of this room that is seeking to come in and to rob us of this moment. Of what you would want to have happen here, we pray against the devil. We pray for your Holy Spirit to do what only the Holy Spirit can do: to teach us, to guide us, to lead us, to help our appetite this morning to not only see Jesus, but to feast on him and to savor him now and forever for your glory and our joy. It's in his name that we pray. Amen. Considering the topic of food, what is the hungriest you have ever been? All the kids are probably like, yeah, this morning, right now, I want a snack. All of us have probably some memory in our lives where we have been hungry. We have wanted food. Because our bodies need food, right? And in this culture in America, we we live in a culture of abundance. And so while we may be hungry for many reasons, we maybe we just need a snack, skipped a meal. Didn't have time for a meal. Maybe we're fasting or part of a health plan. We we all have been hungry, but likely we have not been starving. But we felt the hunger pains, which is the first sign that we're heading towards starvation. That we're in need of something for our bodies, because what happens if we don't eat? We become malnourished, we start to starve, and our body starts to literally eat itself. And then ultimately we die. We die. To state the absolute obvious. We stop eating. We die. Now, can you imagine being on the brink of starvation and rejecting food? Probably not. If you're like me and you are hungry at some point, food gets put in front of you and you do what? You mouth it. As if nothing else is going on. It's like nothing else is important, just this food, and you consume. It's hard to imagine being so starved and food being foot put in front of you and then you just flat out rejected. It's hard to imagine, right? Tragically, the Bible says spiritually, this is exactly what we do. We're not starved physically, we're starved spiritually. Every single one of us. Spiritually, the Bible says, apart from Christ, we are starved. But listen, it's not for lack of eating. Ви і о кайнцов ста. To try to fill our spirits and our souls, make us happy, make us satisfied, quench this gnawing sense of hunger and thirst, this appetite we have that is really for God. We try to fill it in a million ways in this world. You fill in the blank. There is a million ways we can try to fill our stomachs or our souls, the stomachs of our souls. There's many ways that we can do this. And in the end, it's just like filling our stomachs with styrofoam. Zero nutritional benefit. And yet we think that we're full. So there's almost like this satisfaction that we think we have because our stomachs are full. But we're blind, absolutely blind to the spiritual reality that we are starved and that we are in the process of dying. This is what the Bible confronts us, how the Bible confronts us this morning. Adam and Eve ate food of the wrong tree, the tree that they were not supposed to eat of, and they died because of it. You and I are in that same position this morning. Death is reigning because of what Adam and Eve did. We need something else. And here's the question. What if there was a food that you and I could eat? What if there was a food we could eat and never die? How good would that be? Be pretty amazing, right? Let's see what God has for us in John chapter 6 this morning. And as we open up, we're picking up, we're jumping right into this chapter. In the middle of a lot that's been going on, we're picking up the story where Jesus has just fed 5,000 men, which might mean 10,000, including women and children. He's miraculously fed them with bread. And there's this crowd that's chasing Jesus, trying to find him. That's where we're picking this story up. And what we're gonna see right here at the beginning is that the crowd rejects the bread of life. There's gonna be a lot of rejection this morning. A thread of rejection running through this chapter. The crowd rejects the bread of life. Let's pick up in verse 25. When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, Rabbi, when did you come here? Jesus answered them Truly, truly. I say to you, you are seeking me not because you saw signs. But because you ate your fill of the loaf. Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on him God the Father has set his seal. And then if we Continuing verse 28. Then they said to him, Okay, what must we then do to be doing the works of God? Jesus answered them. This is the work of Christ. That you believe in him whom he has sent. This is the work of God to believe in him who he has sent. So Jesus bypasses their initial question. They want to know how Jesus got there, when he got there. Jesus bypasses all that and he gives them a rebuke. Jesus looks directly into the motives of their heart and why they have come over to the other side of. The C. And what does he say to them? What's the rebuke? You're not seeking me because you saw the signs that are supposed to be pointing to what? Jesus is Lord and Savior of all, God in the flesh. That's not why they're coming. They're coming because they got their bellies filled. In other words, they don't want a king in the image of Jesus. They themselves want to be king and they want Jesus to serve them or their God, their king is their belly. We want you, Jesus, to fill our bellies more than we want to actually come and give you any worship. But we'll take you as long as you're filling our bellies. That's the big rebuke. And Jesus clarifies the problem. Here's the problem with that logic. If you want the food that goes into your belly, you're going. That type of food doesn't actually help you live for eternity. You're gonna die. So he says, don't seek that type of food. You need to be seeking a different type of food. A food that comes from heaven, makes you live forever. And so they're like, okay, great. All right, Jesus, we got this. So give us give us this food. How do we get this? Let us work for this food, then, Jesus. Let us work for it. That's the key word there. Let us work for this food. Jesus is saying, you don't get it. You don't get it. You don't work for this type of food. You don't work for it. And so he clarifies this is the work of God. This is the work. If you want to be doing work, here's the work. And he's not saying good works to you. He's just playing on words for them. This is the work that you believe. That you believe in this book. But these disciples or these crowds were They are not seeing that it's something to be reset received. And so they if you what they end up saying to Jesus, okay, Jesus, well then give us this bread. Give it to us. They're still missing it. They think the bread is somewhere outside of Jesus. So then Jesus gives the mic drop. This is down in verse thirty-five. Says this I am This is why you don't do works to get some bread, because I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me shall not hunger. Whoever believes in me shall never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen me and yet you do not believe. Another rebuke to them. They have the bread of life standing in front of them. They see the bread of life, but they do not believe in the bread of life. They cannot see it. And believe in it. Jesus doesn't have bread to give them because he is the bread. He is the bread that's come down from heaven. And right here we see the first of seven I am statements that John is going to make in his gospel. We're going be returning to this over and over again. We saw one I am statement last week. That I am statement was alone, but there are seven that are I am fill in the blank with the predicate. It's an I am. The scripture. There's going to be seven of those in John's gospel. And then here is the first of these. And it draws us back. If you were here last week, it draws us back to Exodus chapter 3, when God shows up to Moses and says, Moses, I'm going to use you to redeem and rescue my people out of slavery to Pharaoh in Egypt. And he says, Moses says, Okay, God, who should I tell him sent me? And God says, I am who I am. You tell them, I am sent you. The covenant-keeping name of God is I am. And I just absolutely love the way Jeff Purcewell has put this as he defines it. Listen to this: the name I am carries the promise of God's presence with his people and his actions for his people. The very name of God communicates his presence with his people. Cannot change unless God has to change. His name, his identity, his character is bound up in the presence of being with his people. But not just presence, his actions for his people. Presence, power, love, action for his people. So There's seven of these I am statements. So what's happening is okay, God is with his people, God is for his people, by his very name, I am how? In what way? What does it look like? John tells us right here. One way. I am by being. This is the way I'm going to be with my people and before my people. I am going to be bread. Thread. Right, is there a more essential fundamental need that humans have physics? We need Brad to lift. Jesus says. This is bread that he says will cause us to never hunger, never thirst if we come to him. And the way that we eat is by believing. He's very clear here over and over again, it's believing. This is not a type of bread that we eat with a fork or with our hands. We eat it by faith. We fix our eyes on Jesus. But these crowds, they do not believe, and Jesus gives them a sharp rebuke. He basically says, There's no evidence of God here. Because you're not believing in me. The way God is working in the world is to draw people to see Jesus. But you're not seeing Jesus. And so it's a sharp rebuke. Guys, you think that you're you got it all together? You think you're on team God? Here's evidence. Case A, exhibit A, you're not on God's team because you're refusing the bread of life. So it's a sharp rebuke and Also an encouragement to the people of God, Jesus says, All who come to me I will not cast out. I will keep them. I will hold them, and on the last day I will raise them. And so we may pause here and consider ourselves a bit in the shoes of this ⁓ of the crowds. What do we want from Jesus? This morning, are you more about what comes from the hand of Jesus than about beholding his face? Do you just want what Jesus can give you? So you can go about living your life? Or do you want to worship him as the Savior of the world, as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords? That's what's happening here. ⁓ we have false motives all over the place inside of the church. Proximity to Jesus means nothing here in this passage. It's about the posture of your heart. Jesus does want to feed us, even physically. It's not about that. It's that they don't want to worship him. Are we postured that way? Are we coming to Jesus because we love him and worship him? Or because we want something from him and we want to go our way? We want to be king. If we are making our lives about anything other than King Jesus at the ultimate, then we're living a life of idolatry. As Tim Keller says, good things are great, but when good things become ultimate things, we have tipped over into idolatry. good things becoming ultimate things, saying, This is where my life is. This is where my hope is. It's in my bank account. It's in keeping my reputation. It's in managing my social media. It's in my self-righteousness and my performance in my quiet time. If we are leaning there, church and unbeliever this morning, we are filling our stomachs with starophone. And we're starving. And Jesus will rebuke us for We deserve judgment for that. This passage begins to pick up even more intensity. The crowds have rejected the bread of life, and now we see the Jews reject the bread of life. Verse 41: So the Jews grumbled about him. Because he said, I am the bread that came down from heaven. They said, Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now, how does he now say, I have come down from heaven? Jesus answers them, do not grumble among yourselves. And then we skip to verse 51, I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh. So things are getting more clear and more intense. These Jews here likely, when John uses the word Jews, it likely refers to the religious authorities, the religious elites, the guard, the religious guard here that thinks they know everything, and they have serious issues here. They have serious issues with the nature of this bread. And they're so they're grumbling about it. This is like it's not just low-level murmuring, this antagonistic, hostile type grumbling. And this grumbling takes us right back to the wilderness. The wilderness account of the of the Jews coming out of Egypt, heading to the promised land. This whole passage in John chapter 6 is sort of built off of thematic threads that are there. So we're right back there. And what happens in that story is the people of God are out in the wilderness. Manna comes down from heaven miraculously, and the Jews grumble about it. They get upset about the type of miraculous provision that's happening. And they want to go back to Egypt. Right? It's the good old days. If we could just go back to slavery, that would be better. Why is God out here feeding us miraculously from the sky, taking us to the promised land? That's where they're at, and Jesus rebukes them. Similar rebuke he gave to the crowds, he says, There's no evidence here that God's teaching you. You want to be taught by God? You're not being taught by God because you know what God teaches? You know what God's favorite subject is? The father's favorite subject to teach about? His son. He loves to teach about his son. And you don't know anything about the son. So you're not on team God. You're somewhere else. He is not at work among you, is clearly evidenced by this fact. So Jesus steps in. He says, I'll give you some teaching. I'll give you some teaching. The bread that came down from the fathers was pointing to me. Came down from heaven to the fathers. Was pointing to me. And there's three things that I think Jesus picks up on here in this thread of teaching. The first, and maybe the most important in this little passage here is the source of the bread is from heaven. Ten times in this little section of text, from heaven is referenced. And it's the opposite of what the Jews are saying. We know him, we know he's not from heaven because we know Joseph. We know where he came from, we've seen his parents. No, the bread is from heaven. He's fully God and fully man. This is heaven bread. This is not bread that you and I can find at the local grocery store. Right? This is not nature's own bread. This is heaven's own bread. It's got the life of God in it. And that's the second. The source is from heaven. The substance is the very life of God. The very life of God. It's living bread. It's very different from the manna that came down in the wilderness. It's spoiled. You couldn't keep it. The food that we have, it all spoils. What's different about Jesus is the food never spoils. Why? Because he is life itself. Life is not extrinsic to the Son. It's in the Son. He is life. He doesn't just have life. He is in it. And he shows how the life is from the Father. Him and the Father are one together here. And he's giving this life to sinful, fallen humanity. And the result is, so the source is heaven, the substance is life, and the result is you eat this bread and you never die. You eat this bread and you never die. There is exclusivity here as well that Jesus makes clear. He would tell them: if you're not eating this bread, death is already there. This is the only way that you live forever is you eat this bread. There's not another bread. There's not another teacher. There's not another philosophy. There's not another religion. There's not another way to earn yourself up into God or get into God's favor. The only way into God is. Into his blessing and life eternal is to eat this bread and this bread alone. Question that we might then ask is do we grumble about We grumble about the fact that this is the only way and it's this way, this one who has come from heaven, this one who has life in himself, this one who's giving himself in his flesh to feed us, does that cause us to grumble? Do we grumble at the provision of God? Maybe it's not Christ in the salvation sense, but we just grumble against his providence. We grumble about his care for us. We grumble how he wants to really carry us and meet our needs and carry on his mission. Are we going to be grumblers this morning? Well, the grumbling and the rejection continues. We move to our third group of people here. This is the disciples. The disciples reject the bread of life. So crowds, Jews, now the disciples reject the bread of life. Verse 60. When many of his disciples heard it, they said, This is a hard saying. Who can listen to it? But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, there's that word grumbling again. He said, Do you take offense at this? And then jumping to verse 66, after this many of the disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. So this is a larger group of disciples. This is not Jesus' 12 that he has chosen. And this larger group of disciples, they've had enough. They've had enough. They're grumbling and they're rejecting Jesus and his teaching. They say the teaching is too hard. This is not like, hey, calculus just gotten too hard. I want to go back to my basic arithmetic. That's not what they're saying. They're saying, I don't want to eat this. I don't want to digest this. It's unpalatable, is what they're saying. When they say who can listen to it, they say who can accept it? Who can accept this teaching? So they reject the teaching. Why? We don't know. The text does not tell us why it is too hard for them, but we could probably fill in some gaps with our Creative, sanctified imaginations. For whatever reason, it's not what they Maybe they want a political messiah. That was what we saw back in ⁓ verse 14, I believe, of chapter 6. They want a revolutionary. Somebody that's gonna set up shop here on this earth. Free us from Rome. Or you know what? It's when this thing really starts talking about suffering. Blood, flesh, which has connotation of Sacrifice. Sacrifice. Suffering. We don't want a kingdom that involves suffering. No, we want a kingdom that involves comfort. Crowns upon our heads, not crosses on our backs. Give us the crown. You tell us there's some suffering involved here, we're gone. And we're not going to worship some Savior who's going to suffer. Don't want that. Jesus gives them a rebuke as well. There's rebukes happening all through this. The evidence that God is not here. Is because of where these people's affections are. And Jesus says the flesh is no help at all. My words are life, my words are spirit. The Holy Spirit has to give illumination here. More evidence, you're not on team, God. If you were, you would recognize who's standing before you. More rebuke. And Jesus would even add to them, You think you're offended now by my teaching? Wait till I go back from where I came from. When I ascend. What's gonna be your response then? This is humbling to all of us. Right? We all of us want to go to heaven. All of us want to get God's favor. All of us want blessing forever and live forever. But not all of us want to worship somebody else, especially not a crucified someone else. We like our comfort. We continue to move forward here. We see this next group. So they walk away. More rejection. Is anyone going to receive this food? Yes, they will. We see that next. The twelve receive the bread of life. Praise God. Some good news here. The twelve receive. So Jesus said to the twelve, Do you want to go away as well? Everyone else is doing it. Right, you just almost feel like the crowd's just getting smaller and smaller and smaller and smaller. I imagine this probably a pretty intimate, sobering, intense moment. We're all alone now, guys. You want to go away as well? Follow the crowd. Verse 68, Simon Peter answered. To whom shall I? You have the words of eternal life. We have believed and have come to know that you are the Holy One. Bibles get it? Bread from another world, bread from heaven. Jesus is the holy one sent from God. Completely other from here, but he comes in, God in the flesh, to feed us salvation in him alone. But Jesus restrains their pride here. He says, Guys, but did I not choose you? You're not any better than anybody else. So don't think that you believe apart from the grace of God at work in your life. Believe great, but all praise goes to God. Did I not choose you? So he roots their belief in the grace of God. But he also makes now the passage ends very ominously. He says, This isn't this in the end of Jesus' rejection. He says, There is one among you who is a devil. Judas. gonna betray Jesus. So more rejection is coming for Jesus. He can't get away from it. More rejection is coming, but at the same time, more clarity is coming about the nature of. More clarity is coming as more rejection is coming. The clarity is coming where John's gospel is taking us to the cross. Clarity on the cross is where Jesus is feeding a hungry world. It's that How is he gonna give his flesh to the world? He's gonna give it to the world on a cross. And what type of bread is it? Yes, it says flesh. The type of bread that we're eating is substitutionary bread. It's God in our place bread. It's the righteous dying for the sinner bread. It's the one who is filled to the full with the presence of God and the life of God. Who empties himself and starves himself in death on the cross in order that you and I who deserve to starve. Die Might be filled with love. He gives up his life to go to death. You and I, who deserved death, could go to life. That's how he feeds his people. Substitutionary bread. All of us this morning in our own way have joined Adam and Eve in choosing and eating bread that we should not have eaten, and it has brought us death. We are starved for the presence of But praise God for what Jesus has done. He has come to feed us. The chef has come. Giving us exactly what we need. And it is the best meal ever. Blows our imaginations. Put the little emoji icon there with the head explosion. Put it right there. That's what happens. I know when I eat a good meal, we probably have our own little way that we do it. Close my eyes. ⁓ my God. Mind blow. The gospel is the mind blow meal that God provides for his people. Gladly. He's not doing this begrudgingly. He's not upset that he had to come down and feed a hungry people. He's doing it out of joy for his glory and because he loves you. Why he's feeding you is because he loves you. He absolutely loves you and he will not see you starve. Remember the covenant keeping of God. I am. I am with you. And I will not forsake you, and I will feed you. I will do everything in my power and in my love to give you the ultimate and the greatest blessing forever and ever. I will not forsake my very nature, even if it means going to a cross. ⁓ church, if we would get how great God's love is for us. He is with us and for us. So the question is, and or how we receive that is simply by faith. We believe in that. We look upon the Son of God dying in our place and we say yes to it. Yes, salvation by faith alone, and the Son of God dying in my place. That brings me to God for. The sinner or the righteous made a sinner, so the sinner may become righteous. The question then for us this morning is. Are we gonna eat? Are we gonna go away with the crowd? Or are we gonna say like Peter, where else are we gonna go? Right, where are you this morning? Would you like to go go away with the crowd? There's plenty of other things you can go fill your bellies with out in this world. Will you say with Peter? Where else can we go? What other table can we feast at? What other sacrifice can do this? What else satisfies us other than Christ in our place? Christ raising from the dead. Would we say that this morning? So I want to approach this from two different ways. Maybe it's a repentance and faith sort of thing, sort of like two sides of the same coin. There's two things, two challenges I want to give us. The first is this there is some food that you and I need to stop eating. Feasting ourselves on the world is not good for our souls. And we need to stop. We need to stop. Not worth it. It's alive from the pit of hell to keep running that way and think that there's life there. It's not. It's a dead end. It's a cliff. You're going to starve. Stop it. That's love. That's love. That's the first side of it, is stop it. The Bible is not just full of stop it. The Bible is also full of the second half of that: by faith. Feast upon your Savior Church, we need to double down on feasting on Jesus Christ. We need to double down on it. Wherever other things are slipping into our lives, we say no to those things. And we say yes to Jesus. We feast on him. And if you're if you're an unbeliever, maybe this morning, or you're a believer and you've forgotten, Jesus says here in this passage, I will not cast out any that come to me. And maybe you're sitting here this morning, you're thinking, sure, sure, maybe I can stop, but I can't run into your presence. Would Jesus really receive me? Done too many bad things. There's too much shame on my life. That's not what this text says. This text says: all who come. All who come. Right? Your shame and your guilt is the very very thing that you need to drive you to Christ. Take that as the work of God among you if you're feeling compelled. He does not cast you out. Come into his arms and find forgiveness and grace for you. Every promise of the scriptures is yes and amen in Jesus Christ. Church, we're not sliding from that fact. All of the promises come through him, through the cross, to us. His work that we receive by faith. And the culture and our world and our flesh is all going to conspire to try to get us off of that fact. Find life somewhere else other than the gospel. We say no. Cannot. Again, not begrudgingly, it's just we've tasted and seen. The gospel is that good. We are those that have passed over from death to life. And it might get hard. It might get hard as we follow a crucified Savior. It will get hard. But we say no. Right? As your friend group, school, starts going another direction, making fun of you. It's okay. Stay in the Lord. Right? It's your co-workers, your boss, whatever it is, your neighborhood. Starts getting on you. One of those Christian freaks. Yes, I am. Yes, I am. Right? Suffering, rejection come our way? We're gonna keep going? Yes, we are. Yes, we are. The meal only gets better the more we go. How can we say no to following our Lord in this way? This is our food. This is our food. What a joy it is to share in the sufferings of Christ. There's coming a day where there will be no more of that. There's coming a day where we will be resurrected in God. Glory, feasting in his presence. We foretaste that now. That's why we can say, in all things, we're joyful, we're rejoicing, even though we're stripped of every earthly worldly support, even though we're stripped of every single comfort in this life, we say, Christ is my portion. I'm going to heaven. He's worth it. I'll take him if it means nothing in this world. Is that where you would be this morning? That's Paul's argument in the end of Galatians 6. I'm crucified to this world. And I'm not sad about it. Can we just face up and be honest? This world is not all that great. It's not. Right? This is every celebrity that gets everything that they possibly could dream of. And they get it all. And they're just as empty and broke as when they began. Doesn't satisfy. You get to the end of the road and you're still hungry. But this breath. This bread satisfies the life of Christ. The gospel is not a crutch for religious people to make it through and to make themselves feel better. It's not a crutch. Who would come up with a holy God who's full of wrath and judgment? No one comes up with that. It's not the type of God I would create, but it's the type of one the scriptures have revealed. And the gospel glory comes into that. It's not a crutch. It's not the weakness of the world, or it's not the weakness of God. It's the power of God. It's not the foolishness of God. It's the wisdom of God. But the world will tell us. Stop it with that weak stuff. Stop it with that non-intelligent stuff. That's not deep. That's a crutch. It's foolishness. It's weakness. We look at that church and we say, No, it's not. It is life eternal. It's life eternal. We need to feast ourselves. And as an application to that, this is what we do every Sunday when we gather. Feasting ourselves, we come to feast with the people of God. This is why we celebrate the Lord's Supper every single Sunday. They're pointing at the same realities. How can we not feast on this by faith? But don't miss that it continues to move out of our souls, into the people of God, into the world. You being here in a Sunday morning or in a small group is you helping your brother and sister feed on the gospel. Right? We're so self-consumed that when we think about coming to a service, we think about ourselves. Do I need this this morning? I look at my calendar, I look at my different things, I make my decision. What if your brother and sister needs to feed? And what a gift. What a gift it is that God has empowered us as the people of God to feed one another the gospel. So when we do gather, you know what we're not doing? Flexing our moralism, flexing our power in the flesh. We're humbling ourselves and we're trying to give people the gospel, encouraging people with the grace of God. So it's been reading in Acts and Barnabas, just obsessed with the grace of God, encouraging them in the grace of God. That's what we were doing as a church. We gather to encourage one, keep running in the grace of God. He's God for your sins, he's risen from the dead. He's reigning in heaven. He's coming back. He's gonna take us all to glory. Keep doing it, church. That's your responsibility to your brothers and sisters. There's nothing individualistic about this. You're saved as an individual, you're saved into a family, a family that loves the bread of life. And then we move to Church, there is a hungry world out there. You know this. Are we doing anything to get Are we doing anything to get bread to them? Are we praying? Are we trying to form relationships? Are we sharing? What are we doing to help? As we do, as we as we go out on the world, there will be the suffering, there will be the rejection, but we go worshiping and in joyful response to the one who has said in this text, I will keep you, I will keep you. Nothing will separate you. We take bread to the darkest, hungriest corners of this world, and we know nothing will separate us from the glory of God, the love of God in Christ Jesus. So, church, we feast ourselves. We help our brothers and sisters feast and then we take this meal to a hungry world that in the end we know we will be in heaven where we will feast unapologetically, without shame, without sin, on the backside of death and the devil, no more rejection, just feasting fore and ever and ever. May gladness and worship mark us until that day we see the bread of life with our very eyes and consume him with all of our soul's delight. Let's pray. Father, thank you for your word this morning. God, a lot in your word, but we pray, I pray, God, that we would simply feast. God, would you help us this morning to repent of eating the foods of this world that do not satisfy, that we may feast only on you. Be our ultimate food, our ultimate delight this morning, God. May our hearts be full of joy. May we live a life of response that helps others in the church and in the world to also have this bread of life and to join the great feast. It's in your name that we pray. Amen.
