  1. Hello I'm so glad to be with you

  2. Oh I feel like I might cry already

  3. What is happening

  4. Okay bathroom students know me well that usually grab a box of tissues and set it up for me before I get started

  5. They've seen me cry every Monday for I don't know six months

  6. It happens often often

  7. Man I have so much to say to you guys today and I wanna start first of all by just um recognizing a few people who are in the room and who aren't in the room

  8. Uh so first of all I just wanna acknowledge that we have Phyllis with us today

  9. Wow wow yeah for those of you who don't know um Phyllis Marie she's just one of ours she's our family and we have a thank you thank you for him to thank you

  10. Um and she is a walking breathing miracle

  11. She is a testimony of the goodness of god

  12. And we thought we would lose her

  13. And he said no and he moved in mighty mighty ways that she is actually just releasing the goodness of god for the breakthrough in your story

  14. Whether you knew that or not there's a miracle in the room today

  15. We also have Terrance in the back

  16. Yeah just more evidence of his goodness and his miracle working power that still exists and still moves in the earth

  17. So if you are just holding on for your own miracle just know that there are miracles in the room all around you

  18. And they are the testimony and the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy

  19. So you can take their very existence as a prophetic word for your future as a declaration of what he wants to do in your story today

  20. Amen amen

  21. Also in the room is my mom

  22. You'll recognize her because we have just about the same face not exactly but close

  23. And she's here for me today

  24. So thanks being your mom and then not in the room notably is Dan Webber

  25. Dan Webber is our senior associate leader and I just wanted to reference that he's not here with us today because he's preaching somewhere else

  26. He is preaching at Oak City

  27. Is that right

  28. In is this what it's called in Birmingham

  29. So we are cross pollinating the kingdom today our our our US team our order of service team

  30. We have a rally a little chant that we do

  31. Sometimes we hit it and sometimes we don't but we say to the king are for the king for the king and his kingdom

  32. So we start most of our services that way for the king and his kingdom

  33. And I got a text from Dan

  34. I texted him for the king and he responded back and his kingdom but he also told me that he taught them our rally in their order of service huddle today

  35. So we're all out there today for the king and his kingdom is why we're doing everything that we're doing for the king and for his kingdom

  36. Amen

  37. Okay spring is sprung

  38. Happy spring for those of you who celebrate

  39. Uh my husband is not one who celebrates this spring spring uh springing

  40. He's got he's got the allergies you know um but uh I celebrate spring

  41. I'm happy that it's spring today

  42. So it's also our first day as our first Sunday in the building our first sorry it is our first spring Sunday which I think makes it our fifth anniversary of being in the building

  43. Is this right

  44. Fourth math is hard fourth

  45. Okay it's our fourth our fourth year of being in the Bill

  46. Is that right fourth

  47. Okay yes okay okay fourth year of being in the building on the first Sunday of spring is when we moved in

  48. So this is another testimony

  49. You're sitting inside of a testimony you are surrounded by testimonies and you're sitting inside of one

  50. So yeah god all right I'm gonna tell you guys a quick story and then I'm gonna pray

  51. Uh my kids um Everett and Juliet Everett is 10 years old and Julia is 7

  52. Uh the way kids work is they used to be much younger

  53. They've been all different ages up to this point

  54. So one time when they were much younger I wanna say maybe 5 ish years ago we had just moved here I think so

  55. I'm I'm thinking in my memory that I had like a 5 ish year old and a 2 ish year old at the time and um they were eating applesauce pouches

  56. All the moms in the room amen they had the applesauce pouch

  57. And I was they were watching TV on the couch with their little applesauce pouches

  58. And um and I think I had I don't exactly remember how this story goes

  59. I think I had asked them to clean up or something clean up after yourself when you're done

  60. We're working on responsibility and all of these things

  61. And I watch and I don't remember which one it is

  62. I think it was my son

  63. If I had to guess um his version of cleaning up was um just to take that little applesauce pouch and just slide it right under the front

  64. We have one of those couches that's like really low to the ground in the front you know like really low

  65. And I watched it happen and I went oh this isn't good

  66. This is this is something that a five year old has done before

  67. The only reason we know that this is an option is because we've done that before

  68. So I am just in my curious wonder I walk over to the couch and I flip that thing up

  69. It's a whole ecosystem

  70. We have organisms of all kinds

  71. We have go gurt anybody those yogurt tubes how's yogurt go under the couch for a long time

  72. Old crusty applesauce pouches pirates booty all just oh we have a history of doing this

  73. We have always tied

  74. I'm like well you guys clean up your mess so well

  75. None of it's making it to the trash can

  76. It's all just going right under the couch

  77. I'll skip the part about how I parented through this

  78. It it does feel like it was actually one of my shining moments as a parent but it's not the point of the story

  79. Okay it in how shall I say it involved empowering them to take care of their mess that was really really gross

  80. And um they both oven mitts on to touch all those other tiny little hands in their oven mitts tryna anyways the point is I think I think today Jesus wants to lift the couch

  81. I think there's things that we think that we've tidied or we're really happy for everybody to see the couch and what the couch is doing

  82. But I actually think there's an opportunity for us to lift lift the lid a little bit and let him tilt it back all the way and see what's been growing under there

  83. What's been growing and what do you wanna deal with that maybe I wasn't even ready to deal with

  84. So I'm gonna pray Holy Spirit we love you we love you it's all for you yeah it's all for you King Jesus and Holy Spirit would you just do what only you can do yeah which you just illuminate what needs illuminating today and invite us into deeper connection with you

  85. Would you illuminate the things that you wanna put your finger on and invite us into something that we could never imagine

  86. Help us to know ourselves the way that you know us and help us to be more like you Jesus

  87. All we wanna be is more like you in Jesus name

  88. Amen amen amen

  89. All right you guys I've been reading the Old Testament for a year years a long time and I'm not out

  90. I'm Ezekiel

  91. Okay so we're going strong in the Old Testament

  92. I felt like it was important for me actually I wanted to read the Bible chronologically so I've been reading other bits here and there as the Lord highlights

  93. But I also was intentionally reading the the whole Bible chronologically

  94. And I attempted to do it in a year and I'm not there because I'm it's been over a year and we're in Ezekiel so it's it's taking me some time um but it's been so good

  95. And also I feel the need for Jesus

  96. Haha

  97. Like I need to get to the I need to get to Jesus I need to breathe the air that Jesus brings to this story

  98. I'm feeling it

  99. And I also am like allowing myself to feel that tension of actually what the law was requiring before Jesus to feel the pain of oh my gosh

  100. They they knew a Messiah was coming but they had no idea what it would look like

  101. They were living under this old covenant and I've just been in this word in the Old Testament for a long time and uh it's been very helpful and fruitful because I'm looking for him as the archetype in every story

  102. I'm finding him everywhere

  103. This is what it does but what I'm seeing throughout scripture even in my in my Old Testament reading is a god in absolute violent pursuit of his people that from the very beginning he was so pursuant on fire for you and for the wholeness of you

  104. And he is the same yesterday today and forever

  105. The covenant we are under has changed but his nature his character his attitudes his behaviors his values have not changed

  106. So I'm looking at the Old Testament God and what was he in violent pursuit of what was he in need of Jesus to come and fulfill so that we could be restored to total oneness with him what was in need of us to be able to house the Holy Spirit

  107. I'm not looking to see what was eradicated by Jesus but what was fulfilled through him because it's an invitation for me to partake in the whole person of Jesus

  108. Another impossible possibility of the law was fulfilled by Jesus but it was not abolished

  109. His values are the same

  110. So when I look at the law I can now see what does he care about what does he care about and these are the guidelines that protect the covenant

  111. This is what the law was in the Old Covenant

  112. We know that the law was upheld by the prophets and the priests and by sacrifice and we failed so bad it is it is painful how much failure there was it is so painful

  113. And the covenant now good news now the covenant is upheld by Jesus

  114. It's no longer upheld by the law and then Jesus the ultimate sacrifice he actually says the better way is not for this law to be external to you but for me to put my Holy Spirit the spirit of truth inside of you to guard and protect the same things that I cared about

  115. We're just doing it through the blood of Jesus and now it's modeled through an internal relationship rather than an external law that we could never uphold on our own

  116. Does this make sense

  117. So now we have it no longer external to us but rather the spirit of truth on our insides to guide us into holiness

  118. Because he is in fact the Holy Spirit is what he calls himself the Holy Spirit

  119. Yeah so you guys aware that we talk about growth a lot here

  120. Yeah if you haven't been with us for long then you might not know

  121. If you have been here for a minute you know we talk about growing all the time

  122. We are always talking about growth

  123. In fact we are in a four month series

  124. We never really do series but we decided to just be 100 about around our four pillars

  125. These are the four pillars that that we build upon

  126. They define the atmosphere of our house and drive everything we do

  127. We did one month of the supernatural one month of family and now we're in our third month of grow

  128. Yeah so we talk about growing a lot and have you I I feel the tension when we talk about growth to um to see it as humanistic or overly self aware or that the goal is some kind of weird version of self actualization or self betterment self help all of these things

  129. But actually and what I what I really wanna do today

  130. Guys if you leave with nothing else is just to remind us and inspire us that the reason why we partner with any of this growth stuff is because it is an invitation from King Jesus to be invited deeper into the things that he cares about the things that we see all throughout scripture and all in his character from the foundations of the earth to right now

  131. What he cares about and that they are growing is actually an invitation to house and become like him and not for any other reason

  132. So it's because the primary work of Jesus was to bring you into full oneness with the father to unleash the Holy Spirit to live inside of you to pay for all of your sin death and sickness to fulfill the value system of god

  133. His values for life for health for oneness in community for covenant are all throughout his word and that's what he's been after from the beginning

  134. Yeah so we know he came to restore that which was lost

  135. Yeah what was lost

  136. Everything everything about your your humanity came under the yoke and burden of sin

  137. And and the law existed to uphold that but you couldn't keep it

  138. So we talk about growth principles and ideas but why

  139. Well there's lots of reasons but today I'm gonna talk primarily about our intimacy with him because I believe it is the primary purpose of all of this growth talk is actually intimacy with Jesus

  140. So you know you guys are actually living inside of the prophetic declaration and yearning that David had in the Old Testament

  141. When he said this one thing I desire of the Lord this one thing I seek that I would dwell in his house forever

  142. You are the new covenant embodiment of that wish of that desire that you actually have something different than what King David had

  143. You actually dwell within the house of god forever

  144. Why

  145. Because it the death burial resurrection and Ascension of Jesus made space for the Holy Spirit to come and live on your insides

  146. And now the house of god is not external to you but rather internal to you

  147. So now you live eternally inside of the longings of King David of the longings of every heart before you

  148. You are the house of god and now the journey of your whole life is actually hosting him really well making more and more space for him to inhabit

  149. We know we sing worship songs like we're clearing out the clutter

  150. You're the only thing that matters

  151. I'm constantly looking to my life and saying what needs to go so that I can have more space to house him better to house him more fully to hold more capacity of him

  152. Where has my wine skin gotten old and inflexible

  153. And what is he ready to grow on my insides

  154. And what needs to what do I need to put to death so that he can be fully alive inside of me

  155. What on my insides actually needs to get cleaned out so that he can take full residence inside of me

  156. Yes this is why we grow making more and more space for him to inhabit

  157. How much of my story did he pay for

  158. How much of your story was paid for by the blood

  159. How much

  160. The question I'm asking myself is how much of my internal world has come under the rule and reign of a new and better kingdom

  161. And how much of my internal world is still living in that old covenant reality

  162. Because we actually can be living in the New Covenant but still thinking like the Old Covenant

  163. So these are some of the things that I wanna highlight for us today

  164. So some of the catchphrases you'll hear us talk about you'll hear some phrases just repeated we're being okay with our humanity accepting our humanity lots of accepting yes accepting our brokenness do the work

  165. You guys have heard this yeah but the reason is because intimacy is what he paid for

  166. Intimacy and covenant relationships intimacy with the god with the Godhead oneness your internal transformation is what he's after under the couch

  167. Yes we're gonna find all the yogurt packs

  168. This is what he's after

  169. And in order to be transformed we get to grow in intimacy with ourselves not just intimacy with others though we are gonna talk about that but also intimacy with ourselves to be so known by him that we actually can lived live fully exposed that we actually can live a nothing hidden lifestyle with him now

  170. He knows everything already but there's something about the intimacy of saying know everything

  171. I'm bringing this to you

  172. I want you to see it all know me let me see inside of me

  173. He actually came to illuminate the entire human experience

  174. John 1 verse one in the beginning was the word and the word was with god and the word was god he was in the beginning with god

  175. All things were made through him and without him was not anything made

  176. That was made in him was life and the life was the light of men

  177. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it

  178. He came to illuminate the entire human experience to shed light under all of your couches to illuminate every single part of you and to bring it fully fully to light to know every part

  179. But the caution and the word of caution here is we cannot do this work

  180. This is what I wanna bring

  181. We can do none of this work without being anchored to his affection

  182. We actually can do none of it without the awareness of his unfathomable immeasurable love for us

  183. That what he says about you becomes the truest thing about you

  184. The goal is not just blatant awareness and knowledge of your deficits but rather it is to come out from under the lie of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil where you would live able to judge yourself and others based on how they perform or behave based on how you perform or behave

  185. But rather to completely attach yourself inside the tree of life which is him which does not give you a free pass to no longer see your humanity but actually empowers you to be able to hold it

  186. Because he is on your insides and he can hold it

  187. And he holds it that his entire plan for the restoration of humanity was to become human to actually put on flesh to put on your whole existence to know you as intimately as he could and to live fully connected to the Godhead to restore you

  188. He knows

  189. So there's this invitation to know us but if we do any of this work outside of the anchor of his love for us and his affection for us we could make our humanity our god we actually could fall into the pitfall of the work becoming the primary focus of the work becoming the thing that we worship or idolize that the this healthy version of myself me at the best of me is the attainable goal and it just isn't

  190. It's off

  191. Me as transformed into the image of Jesus on the earth is my goal and the invitation to growth is real and it's there and it matters

  192. But it's unto me becoming like him

  193. It is unto me being submitted to the full work of Jesus in my whole life and story

  194. I think sometimes we become fearful that will become too focused on our brokenness that will no longer see ourselves as whole

  195. And and it's a real question but it's his love that makes any of this possible

  196. It's his love that makes any of this work legal

  197. I actually do not have a right to go into looking at my deficits and and staring at my humanity and taking a look at all of my failures without the Holy Spirit

  198. I that's that's it that's illegal uh zone for me

  199. I don't get to live there

  200. In fact I told our bathroom students this year the Lord told me at the beginning of this year I only get to live inside of his delight anything outside of his delight is illegal territory for me

  201. I don't get to live there

  202. And when I find that I'm living outside of his delight it is a rush back into the heart of the father

  203. I can't function there

  204. I don't it's it's illegal for me so it's illegal hear me it's illegal for you to do any of this work without the Holy Spirit embodying empowering and inviting all of it

  205. You cannot go down this path without his love being the guiding force without the Holy Spirit

  206. We have multiple varied reactions to our humanity and I'm gonna share a few of them with you and they have all been mine

  207. Okay if you hear yourself in any of them that's the Holy Spirit because I'm talking about me

  208. Okay so our reactions to our humanity could look like spiritual bypass

  209. What is spiritual bypass

  210. What is this fancy phrase that we're talking about

  211. It's when I have to look at something that's broken about me and I just say oh it's under the blood oh my failure he he doesn't see that anymore

  212. This is true but we can actually cover up those things and never actually deal with them or look at them because oh Jesus took care of it

  213. It's under the blood that's actually true but your inability to look at it is perpetuating the you that the whole world around you is experiencing

  214. It is true that it's under the blood and your inability to look at it is impacting the world around you experience of you and you're actually being invited in you come on you get under the blood too and both of you you your deficit and you yourself get under the blood and take a look with King Jesus at what he wants to do and what he wants to work out

  215. Yeah it's under the blood you get under the blood too

  216. Let's deal with it

  217. No 2 Ouchy Ouchy in advance ouchy for me we build a world around us that insulates us from ever having to see it

  218. I don't think you heard me cause if you did you'd be saying ouch

  219. I'll give you an example

  220. I am a first born only daughter first born girl on all sides first granddaughter on this side first granddaughter on this side first grandchild on this side first grandchild on this side everybody's eyes are on me amen

  221. Everybody's watching her look at her go and she's got the eyes of the world and man she can do anything

  222. Okay it's fun

  223. Okay but it can grow some not so great things on your insides right

  224. You actually can grow this whole ecosystem value system belief system of everybody's fine because I'm amazing

  225. And if I'm not amazing or if somebody's not fine it's probably because I'm not amazing

  226. And listen mom's in the room she did an amazing job

  227. They did amazing

  228. This is what actually the enemy slips in lies even in my healthy wonderful beautiful upbringing of

  229. Don't you see it's up to you to keep everyone happy

  230. They're all happy because of you which means if they're unhappy also you

  231. So the way that I insulate that and never have to look at that thing is by actually creating a world where no one has to experience my failure

  232. Shut up Laura

  233. Can I say

  234. Shut up from the stage

  235. I did

  236. It's on the podcast now if I'm good enough at all the things nobody will ever have to experience these deficits of mine

  237. If I it must say something about my value

  238. So I'll create a little world where nobody ever has to see it

  239. This is what insulation looks like

  240. Okay

  241. Oh I have so much more to say

  242. That clock is bullying me

  243. Um haha you know we all also know and again talking about myself I have been this person

  244. I've worked really hard over the course of a lot of years to not be this person

  245. In fact I am proactively not this person

  246. I'll tell you why but we all know the people okay who feedback breaks them they cannot take it

  247. It is so painful because it's highlighting some of their own deficits

  248. It's okay we love them anyway but what do you learn

  249. You learn I just won't bring them feedback

  250. I just won't be fully honest and transparent

  251. I was this person

  252. Now I literally like grabbing my friends by the shoulders

  253. I'm like look for things to give me feedback about

  254. I need to desensitize myself to this so that I can be healthy about it

  255. Tell me something you see today find something

  256. If you don't have it go away and come back

  257. I wanna be so desensitized to this because my value is not tied up in it

  258. Okay you and then and then another option of course on the table when we talk about growth without an invitation from the Holy Spirit is self deprecation and self hatred

  259. And we actually get so swarmed with how broken we are

  260. Listen I'm the most aware of my brokenness but if the Holy Spirit is not highlighting it I don't get to swirl around it

  261. I actually don't have a past to go there

  262. So without him it can turn into self hatred really quick or pride

  263. And those are kind of your options or some version of what I've already talked about

  264. Yeah we're gonna go fast

  265. You guys buckle in haha your deficits guys listen let's just remember all of your deficits started in very real places because you weren't given perfect love in the earth even in the healthiest of homes with the kindest of upbringings

  266. What was given to you likely float out of someone else's deficits

  267. And so the trauma or the brokenness the ways you learn to survive all of it learn patterns of behavior family value systems communication styles all of it is ready to be touched by King Jesus

  268. His affection does not disregard these things nor does it shine them up or forget about them

  269. But it actually an issue it issues an order of Grace that allows you to view hold and accept your whole story while also growing into his likeness

  270. Because now your entire significance is in him and what he did in the cross

  271. And then it paved a way for you to get to do this work this work you became one with him in the miracle moment of your salvation but transforming into his image is your lifelong journey

  272. So we do talk a lot about growth but it's not for self actualization or deprecation

  273. It's not even for self at all

  274. It's for the man Jesus to get the fullness of what he paid for in my story

  275. It's for him to get to touch every single thing that his blood paid for but we don't know how to do this because it's scary

  276. I don't I don't actually like talking about growth

  277. I don't know if you guys have been watching the the podcast the Touch Point podcast that we do in between service every week

  278. Last time I was like I don't wanna talk about this anymore

  279. Can we be done

  280. Because if we're talking about growth it means he's gonna Wanna do more of it and I don't want to but it is the invitation but the reason why it's hard you guys is because we believe our identity is connected to it that feedback growth owning your deficits feel so high stakes because we find our value in our doing and in other's perception of us

  281. We can't hold our own brokenness and so we're afraid if we have to face our deficits it will crush us

  282. But listen when you diminish your brokenness you diminish your need for the whole Jesus

  283. When you are shining up your failures you are diminishing your access to the kingdom

  284. It was your need to the first savior that got you here in the first place

  285. It is your weakness in which he is made strong

  286. So to create a world in which my deficits my weaknesses my humanity is not real is to live inside a false narrative of the gospel one that is based on my performance still and not the whole Jesus

  287. Your poverty is the very entrance point to the kingdom so I wanna give us an invitation here

  288. Haha hang on tight

  289. The degree to which you can hold your own humanity has become not will become it has has become the silent limiter of intimacy in all of your relationships

  290. I'm gonna say it again

  291. The degree to which you can hold your own humanity becomes the silent limiter of how intimate your relationships can be

  292. The New Covenant ushered in a whole new way of doing relationships

  293. And this is what he cared so deeply about in the Old Testament that he built entire structures around protecting this

  294. Yes so when we talk about health and wholeness in our relationships it's because we want Jesus to get the full reward of what he died for which was you brought into a new covenant reality where the law has been fulfilled and you can now officially dwell in unity peace and righteousness with all men

  295. You could not do that before but it's all throughout scripture that this was his passion

  296. How can we be one if our way of relating to people is still under the Old Covenant

  297. Now we're all in the new Covenant like I said but we still have ways of behaving like the Old Covenant

  298. Old Covenant relationship says I hold you to a standard of judgment that is impossible for you to uphold and then I judge you for it and I am justified in my boundaries

  299. So we build whole cut off culture not boundaries culture but cut off culture because I've held you to an actual impossible standard

  300. And now I'm justified when I put boundaries up to keep you out which we're not even talk about boundaries because we don't have time

  301. So just there it is

  302. Or you hold yourself to a standard that it's impossible for you to uphold and then you judge yourself for it and keep people at arms length

  303. Remember the degree to which you can hold your own humanity will become the silent limiter on how intimate your relationships can be

  304. How much I can hold my own humanity becomes an invitation for intimacy in every one of my relationships even in my relationship with Jesus

  305. Cause I can live completely bare completely open with none of my identity attached to anything that I put my hands to

  306. Because all of my value is inside of him

  307. And I can take a hard look at the places where I failed

  308. And not be rattled or shaken or actually talk really openly about them because they don't define me

  309. We also have made a lot to do about our souls over the last 10 years

  310. The church has been talked talking about soul health a lot and it really matters

  311. I think we've probably done this because for generations we were really trying to just crush the soul

  312. There was no soul or spirit only

  313. Um but uh he cares so much about your soul and he cares about your emotional health so deeply

  314. Yeah thank you Jesus

  315. Your emotional health processing ability to grieve lament was is all an invitation for the work of Christ and his resurrection to touch those very human parts of you

  316. So I'm gonna give you a real time example

  317. I'm gonna be really vulnerable up here on a microphone today

  318. And I'm gonna give you my own example so that you so that potentially the Holy Spirit can illuminate it for you

  319. What this maybe looks like in your story

  320. So last week last week last week I got super triggered in some of my insecurities

  321. How did I know I was triggered

  322. All because I've done some growth work

  323. Oh because I've let self awareness with the work of the Holy Spirit be a huge part of my story

  324. So I'm like in this freak out moment that didn't have anything to do with let me okay I got triggered

  325. Okay it happened right in the middle of a certain conference where 460 of you were sitting in this room

  326. Okay we a lot of we a lot of us were here

  327. Okay you were experiencing this with me and not knowing that you were experiencing this week with me last week okay I was on stage all weekend and I'm triggered in my insecurities around something that has nothing to do with the conference

  328. Okay but it's happening Whoo all at the same time perfect

  329. Okay so there's multiple invitations that play for me here

  330. Stay swirling in the insecurity

  331. Just let that thing keep moving

  332. Just keep it moving hop on that ride and ride it all the way down

  333. You're laughing cause you've done it

  334. You guys know what this is like you know what I'm gonna do

  335. I was gonna pick my feet up and let this thing ride

  336. Okay okay that was definitely an invitation

  337. Here's another invitation

  338. Oh this feels a little icky and scary to talk about

  339. Thank you

  340. We I could allow a feeling of external success to bolster and cover up my insecurity

  341. Yes I'm on stage all weekend

  342. I come off the stage and stranger says you're doing such a great job this weekend

  343. I could let that thing insulate me from doing the actual necessary work to figure out why am I triggered

  344. I could find my external value right there in that thing yeah and build a whole beautiful shined up picture all the Lord and his kindness sent this person to me so that I wouldn't have to feel this way anymore and have it oh it's a testimony now amen

  345. It's I am amazing it's a testimony now yeah okay could have done that could have just declared some identity statements and overcome good tools very good tools not mom not mocking tools but I could have just declared it away

  346. Okay I could let the praise and the validation of others just continue to mask my insecurity

  347. Do you know what I did instead

  348. I rushed the altar

  349. I come off of this stage literally bypass every single person and cast the crowns as quickly as I can

  350. I am count any crown that I could put on myself that another person could put on me that someone else's opinion could could tell me a story about myself

  351. It's gotta come off right now

  352. I gotta cast it at the feet of Jesus and get at the altar as quickly as I can

  353. It's the only option

  354. Woo so I bring all of the insecurity

  355. I want to be immediately seen by Jesus not by anyone else in that yucky place of swirly whirly you know stuff I wanna get at the feet of Jesus immediately

  356. The the the question is not how much does my humanity keep showing up

  357. The question is how quickly does my humanity drive me to the table where I can feast on his goodness

  358. It's not can I punish myself for having this insecure thought

  359. Again it's can this insecurity drive me to his heart

  360. Can it drive me to the altar where he will meet me where the blood still stands

  361. So I'm there just letting his words his thoughts his opinions fill me quicker than anyone else's like hard boundary

  362. Don't talk to me

  363. I'm on the floor

  364. So I bring it to the altar and guess what I didn't do

  365. I didn't clean it up I didn't fix it I didn't shove it under the blood

  366. I invited him to take me on a journey to change my thoughts

  367. I let him put his finger on Babe this insecurity is still there because of this belief system

  368. It's actually really you could stay in victim if you stay in this insecurity and think that that's why you're here

  369. If you would actually let me put my finger on the belief system that brought this up in the first place that's gonna be way more painful

  370. Can we do that instead

  371. So I invite him it requires coming to full repentance

  372. But listen I don't get there except for having gone here except for owning my entire story allowing my full humanity to be touched by the person of Jesus

  373. Allowing all of my story to be known by him

  374. So that when that insecurity hits I'm like oh I know this

  375. We gotta cast every crown and get on we gotta get facetime right now right now I gotta bring all of this not shined up not pretty right now

  376. I need the whole Christ to empower me to change the way I believe

  377. And in this reality in this version of growth your greatest weaknesses become the invitations to your greatest encounters

  378. Your greatest deficits become the gateway for you knowing him more deeply

  379. How much of my internal world has been submitted to this new and better kingdom

  380. Jesus we love you we love you we want you

  381. You're all we want Jesus

  382. We want you to inhabit every part of our story and we don't wanna grow without you

  383. It's not worth it

  384. It's nothing without you without the Holy Spirit

  385. So would you just move on our hearts right now every heart in the room

  386. There's an invitation for greater intimacy with him to be fully known by the king of Kings

  387. I actually feel like there's those of you who have actually been right on the threshold of growth that you actually felt this invitation in your heart's been burning all morning

  388. You felt it you've been standing right there and you know the cost of stepping off

  389. But as I see that like how precipices I can see it

  390. I feel it being completely radiated by his smile by his kindness drawing you to do the work

  391. Maybe for the first time not motivated by the better you that you'll be on the other side but motivated by his love his values his pursuit of you to put his hand on every part

  392. If that's you actually if you feel like yeah I've actually been feeling he's calling me into that to step off the edge and to do the work

  393. And today is the day I wanna say yeah I wanna I wanna go there with you Jesus

  394. I want I want this intimacy that's been made available

  395. Would you move

  396. Actually would you move in the room and come to the front

  397. Thank you Jesus thank you Jesus thank you Jesus thank you Jesus thank you Jesus thank you Jesus haha yeah what's waiting to meet you

  398. Here is his delight his delight is waiting when you make that step

  399. What's there to catch you is the delight of the father all of his joy all of his pleasure Holy Spirit

  400. This is what we mean when we say you can have it all

  401. This is what we mean have it all all of me have all of me yeah I just feel literally like his wrap around presents in the room just saying yeah for the first time

  402. You're actually not doing this alone

  403. You're not growing in your own strength but in mine

  404. You're not growing into the version of me that you think you're meant to be but you have an issue an order of Grace to be transformed into his likeness

  405. Thank you Holy Spirit thank you Holy Spirit
