Your Assignment: Becoming a Minister of Reconciliation | Pillar Series

Good morning the defibrillator anointing that's what I heard

How many y'all were here last week

Okay good good I won't say if you ask if you weren't here so no shame just teasing

Good

Well we are in the middle of our go series series

Yes and we started with supernatural and then we went to family then we did grow

How many y'all been here for this

Yeah come on and now we're in go and I wanted you to know there's some intention in the order

If we try to go with our great ideas and not in the supernatural it'll be insufficient

It might bring change but might not bring this spiritual change that's needed

If you go without family then you went you weren't sent

Wow we got like 90 seconds in and here we are

So if you go without family you might just be alone and we weren't designed to be alone

In fact we read last week in Genesis that it's not good for man to be alone

Hmm he actually made someone to be with him because it wasn't good for him to be alone

So we need to be family and we need to be growing

All of this does compile and and and and feed into what it looks like for us to go

How many oh yeah we talked this already last week

We talked about what god was doing on the cross on the Easter Sunday

I don't know if it was Easter then but you know it's sure there weren't bunnies but I'm sure they did exist but you know uh but what was he doing and why was why was he dying

Was it to get us to heaven

Was it to pay for our sins

Yes get all of the above

Jesus is the right answer always

Now you guys doing okay today

Well is it we're still are we still soaking in the presents

That's what it is some of us are like little bit sleepy spring break week um but really he was doing more and we talked about how in Genesis God had a dream and he had an idea and he said hey let's create something and he began to form the world and form the trees and form the rivers and oceans and separate light from the day

And just their creation story was literally his

Just that it was his creation and that when after he created Adam and Eve let us make man in our image not good for man to be alone so let's make another one the helper the help mate that he begins to make himself his own image designed in the image bearer of mankind that's you and I then he tells him be fruitful multiply take dominion of subdue the earth cause the earth to come under its your influence extend Edom e e Eden Eden beyond where you are and into all of the earth

This was the original mission this is the original dream and then the enemy comes along and lies to Eve and says you know if you eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil you will in that day you will be like god and he does this is why he doesn't want you to eat it

Why was that the big deal

Because she already was like God Adam and Eve were made in the image of god they were literally his likeness so she falls for the lie Adam and Eve fall for the lie

Death is enters the world

It did not exist in the world at this before this death enters the world destruction mayhem devastation steel kill destroys the enemy's plan

Jesus says the enemy comes to steal kill destroy but I have come steal kill destroy but oh I'm drawn the blank on the verse now the enemy comes to steal kill and destroy but I've come to give life and life abundantly

So the enemies has one one one task

He's got one mission destruction injured the world at the fall and as we went through last week we we went through the whole Bible and just began to go through all these instances where the Lord began to demonstrate his character nature of restoration and reconciliation and redemption

From city to empire to individual throughout the course of the Bible

His nature has been on display yeah until Q Jesus and Jesus comes along and actually fixes the problem which was sin

It entered the world and it took a pure and spotless sacrifice to pay for the cost of what sin did for the wages of sin is death but the gift of god is eternal life

And Jesus comes and restores something he reconciles something

What what did he reconcile

He reconciled what was lost

Jesus says I have come to save that which was lost what was lost God's dream what he was his creation mankind being sons and daughters being fruitful multiply making more sons and daughters inhabiting the earth building creating extending Eden communion with the Lord walking talking in the cool of the day

The separation between the heavenly realm and the natural realm was restored the veil was torn and it was now accessible through Christ

Thus Paul says this is the the great mystery is that Christ in you the hope of glory that Christ could be in you

The kingdom of heaven is within you that you're seated and says Ephesians you're seated with him in heavenly places that's a past tense statement you have been seated with him in heavenly places

You currently exist in heaven in your spirit while simultaneously existing in the chair you're sitting in

So you have access to something

This is why the order is important cause you you you can only fix the problems

We see in the world that we're go therefore make disciples of all nations casting out demons healing the sick

The only way we can do that is in the spirit

We can't do it from our natural mind

We have to do it from this reality that you live in the heavenly places

Hmm you guys alright with me just recapping

Yeah so we talked about this last week he was restoring this dream

And and at the end of the dino he rose on the morning and at the end of the day he said go there for make disciples of all nations teaching him in the ways that I have taught you

So this is our mission he restored it

We are now on a mission to restore what was lost creation idea was lost

He's joining with us his own creation that is in his likeness and saying co labor with me while we restore and redeem the earth

And we know this cause in Corinthians 5 it says that he has been that Jesus was given the ministry of reconciliation and then he said now I'm giving it to you that you are now ministers of reconciliation

What are we reconciling what are we bringing back together humanity and the father creation and the idea the dream we're reconciling the what was his dream

So this is our our mission is to be reconcilers that's a pretty big tall order don't you think

So here we are now with this mandate go therefore make disciples of all nations teaching them in the ways that I have taught you

We we need we need him to do that but in it wild that he's chosen us to do it with

Yeah okay good recap so he's restoring his dream creation he's sending you and I to do it with him

He says later not only just in the Great Commission make disciples of all nations but he also says in the couple of sections we might get to it today where he sends them out and he sends them out to cast out demons to heal the sick to raise the dead

And he says freely you receive freely give away we're not raising the dead by yourself we're not healing sick on our own we're partnering with the spirit that lives within us

It says the same spirit that rose Christ from the dead resides in you

That's a lot of power

It also says the kingdom of heaven doesn't consist in words but in power

Yeah no we need him for this mission so I wanna talk about a couple things and we're gonna get into some scripture

If you wanna turn to John 4 and just kind of put your thumb there

We'll hold it for a second but I wanna talk about a couple things about you know one of the the goals of doing these pillars in in in desires that we have as a church is that we are thriving in every element in every pillar in every area

We're thriving and being supernatural it's our way of life

It's it's what we pursue it's what we practice it's what we are it's what we're becoming it's what we're demonstrating it's the life we live

It's not a concept an idea a theory a message we hear on a Sunday come on the the the goal is that we're thriving this is our lifestyle

So when we say supernatural or family or grow or going the goal is that we're thriving in these areas

And you know in order to thrive what's going to be important is we recognize we say this way

It will require us to think and believe differently than we did previously what we the beliefs that we carry in our mind

This is the place where we take on the mind of Christ

This is where it says in Romans 12 where it says be not conformed to the ways of the world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may prove what the good and perfect will not

So you can find it so that you can become it

Yeah you prove it how

By the transformation of the mind the renewing of the mind

So our belief systems our beliefs uh uh the way we think is actually a big deal

In fact it's such a big deal

This is the core piece of where we find transformation

It's this in encounter the two places that we hear about transformation in the Bible

So it's a big deal when what we believe is a big deal cause what we believe is going to affect how we behave

It's gonna affect what we become

What we believe about the end is gonna affect how we are in the middle

That's right yeah that's right

What we believe is a big deal and so I wanna go through and address just some of the belief of beliefs

I started thinking as I was preparing

I'm like well what what are the things that I think is normal

When I think about like going and be you know go therefore impacting your city impacting your sphere of influence the stuff we talk about and I think what do I think is normal so I just kind of rattled off

Here's a handful of beliefs that I think is in in my mind

When I say this they're core beliefs

This isn't ideas

Does this make sense

Do you know how you can have like a a thought in your mind but it's oh okay

Do you know how you can have a thought in your mind but it might not be a core belief

I remember the Lord confronting me one time on a belief and he goes well you know that's because it's what you believe

And I go but it's not what I think and he goes I know but it is what you believe and I can tell because it's why you behave

Your beliefs get get revealed in your behaviors not your just your thoughts the forefront

I can I can think I'm supernatural but if I never practice it then actually I'm not cause my behaviors are gonna reveal what I my core beliefs are

So when we're talking about this is this it's not necessarily I'm not talking about just a a forefront thought but a it's a behavior because there's a core belief that came about through a process of repentance in transformation

How we doing you guys

Okay alright I didn't have much time so we had to jump right in so here's some things I think I've been sent to change the world around me and make it better

When we say go I think we're gonna need to realize this has to be a core belief

You have been sent to change the world and make it better

That's right

Yeah make it better make it better yeah yeah like that's a normal yeah yeah that's right

So then you got asked a question am I getting ahead

I am let me go here

I'll go some more beliefs

Here's another belief I've been assigned to reconcile man back to the father

This is yours this should be our core beliefs

You have been assigned to reconcile man back to the father

What does that look like

That looks like in your moments you find yourself around people you're thinking like it's your normal bent to be trying to find a way to introduce them to Jesus

Oh that's right and it might not necessary it might not be the sinner's prayer which nobody prayed by the way in the Bible but that's another story

Maybe it's not another story because the reality is they were introduced to him because of who he who was in him

So it it it's it's a natural bet to be oh I'm I'm here to reconcile you back to the father

That's a normal that's baseline

Um another thought is creation is waiting for me to bring it into my freedom

Romans 8 says this we talked about it last week creation is waiting this is a normal thought core belief creation is waiting for it to be brought into my freedom

What does it imply

It implies I'm free

You're not setting anybody free if you're not free

So this is why we grow first

This is why there's this process

Oh no I need supernatural help to actually grow into the freedom and be delivered into the freedom that I've been called to

And then as we'll read in Luke 10 he says Matthew 10 he says freely give for freely you have received

Once you've gained freedom in said area you actually can give it away

Oh okay I have the kingdom of god

I I shall I have the kingdom and god within me

Yes I make decisions based on how I believe Christ would make them try what I have been set free from

I can set people free that's right

I owe the world an encounter with god

We are to make every in all areas we find ourselves in better

Yes do we know this

Yes the people environment should benefit from the king that's within me

Yes this is good stuff though thanks man haha

How through unearthly wisdom unearthly wisdom through gifts of the spirit through the revelation that we live in the people and environments that we find ourselves in should become better because where we sit and live is better

Guys with me so let's play this out

Where do you go work

Where do you go

I'll tell you where you go wherever you go

Where do I go Dan

Where's my assignment

Wherever you are wherever my feet trot it has been given to me

Where do you go

Wherever you are where coffee shops if you know pick up kids at school soccer church playgrounds whatever you fill in the blanks wherever you are well that's where you go and then and then what happens when you show up there

Oh I'm thinking that I make I make every person better than I meet

I have the kingdom within me to give away

I I think as a baseline my decisions in this setting is how I believe Christ would make them

I actually owe the people around me and encounter with god that this environment that I find myself in should benefit

Because the king that is within me well how how what's happening in this moment what am I delivering what am I giving away

Well unearthly wisdom you think in ways the world doesn't think

Do you know why

Cause you sit in a realm the world doesn't sit in

We have been seated with him in heavenly places who said we said this last week

That first Corinthians 6 says that your spirit his spirit has been made one

He who has joined himself with the Lord was become one spirit with him

You and him are one spirit inside here

You you you actually have something to give away from a different realm

This is what Jesus modeled for us

Bill Johnson says it like this that if Jesus did what he did as god it would be inaccessible and unattainable

But he he didn't he did it as man even though he was god

What he did was as man he went and said what do you say

I do what I see the father doing

I say what I hear him saying so these are keys for us what happens in the moment

I don't know what to say

Oh I think Paul says this later but don't don't worry about what what what you will say for the spirit will make uh give you the words to say in the moment

We we just gotta show up

I'll stand over here we just got to show up like like we got to show up with the authority that's been given to us because all authority has been given to me

Jesus said in the in the Great Commission go therefore make disciples who has the authority we do now now where are we going

Wherever you go and then what are you doing

Show up show up with the authority that you have and give away what is ever is in the need in the moment knowing that you have something to give

Because it is your mission to mandate to reconcile the earth back to the father

That's the call on us wherever you go give away what you have whatever you have now

There's a principle you can't give away what you don't have shocking

I know what does that imply you gotta have it and you should get more you should get all you can get so if you need breakthrough in something get your breakthrough you need a victory in something get your victory

Well it's hard Dan

There's so much I'm combating and it's up I'm up against and the enemy is strong and he's who has the authority who has the power then show up take it from him because it's actually your land it's actually your breakthrough

Yeah no we're gonna fight for some things we have to but you have the victory so we fight for it we gain it and then you can give it away

I talked about this this morning you know when I was younger in in my teenage years I had a you know colorful past for a good stretch of years and and in that I was addicted to drugs and then I got set free

Do you know what I can do now and have done laid hands for people with addiction and they get set free

Why

Because it's a battle it's a territory I fought for

Did I do it on my own

Oh god no no I I was in all the the na groups and they they didn't become any different

They just didn't use drugs anymore

No no in Jesus there's a transformative power that actually transforms an individual that is actually transforming more than just not using drugs but actually becoming someone that's the son of god not the son don't confuse me but a son we are called sensitive they actually become something different

It's the transformative power of what happens and that victory that was gained is actually can be given away

So what do I give away when the moments that I see it and feel it I'm giving it away and let me pray let me lay hands on you and pray for you deliverance freely

You've received freely give so what's your story what do you have to give away

Is it a good marriage

Come on dad

Is it good parenting

Come on is it free from drugs alcohol porn

Is it freedom is what is it freedom from bondage fear of man

Have you broke the fear of man

Get your hands on some people so they can get set free because freely you've give received freely give away

We are part of the story of the restoration

We have an assignment and and and a mission to carry within it

We can't advocate our position by waiting for god to do something because he chose man to do it with

I don't know why I didn't write that part of the story

It's taking a very long time it's obvious okay let's go to John 4

Oh you've probably heard tons of messages on this but let's hear it with some fresh eyes for a second

This is the story of the woman at the well and we'll start in verse six and what I wanna what I'm gonna zero in on and want us to like focus as we read it

How does Jesus show up a lot of times

We're we're thinking you know you've probably heard tons of these messages and we're the woman in the story right

Everyone's like well you're from California don't get that California

No I mean but really like we're the we're the woman who's in need and is in sin right

This is a I want propose we read the story in your Jesus again

Everything's like okay are you saying we're Jesus

No I'm saying Jesus is in you therefore you're supposed to be like him but read through it as if you were from Jesus perspective

How are you showing up

Okay so verse 6 and Jacob's well was there so Jesus being weried from his journey was sitting thus by the well

It was about the sixth hour

Now I I'm not gonna get like scholarly and do like an expository teaching

I know we've heard tons of stories of why he's there but let's just say it reads as it reads he was there cause he's tired

Is that what we just read

We're gonna be a little bit literal on it

Okay I know we can get a little bit deep and I'll do that a little bit in some other areas but he was tired so he sat by

Well this is what he did where do you go

Wherever you go where was he

He was tired and sit by

Well then a Samaritan woman came to Jesus and said give me a

Jesus gave team came to dry water and Jesus said give me a drink

Now his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food and therefore the Samaritan woman said to him how is it that you being a Jew asked me for a drink since I am a Samaritan woman for Jews had no dealings with Samaritans

Okay let's think about this

He was tired and he showed up

Why is this significant

Because in his world where he lives there was no distinction between a Samaritan and Jew

You say it differently there was no distinction between black or white

There was no better even though this this is very poignant to gender males talking to females and poignant to racism of the Samaritans in the Jews but in his world that didn't exist

Where did he live

He was seated with him and having places his spirit resided in another realm

Remember he did what he did as man he did what he saw the father doing he just showed up his normal reality was different than the natural reality he found himself in which was the natural reality the Samaritan woman lived in which is hey you you people sorry you people don't talk to us

And Jesus Jesus didn't even like bad Anaya but he demonstrated something it was different which is this doesn't exist in my world so it doesn't exist here guys okay then Jesus says hey if you knew the gift of god and who it is says to you give me a drink you would have asked him and he would give you a living water

So in this moment he shows up confident of his identity and I know who I am and let me tell you about who's standing in front of you

And if you actually knew who I was would I be able to give you

Come on remember this started because he was just tired and then someone shows up and now he just starts talking but man he shows up with some confidence

Could you imagine if you if you did that you're the water cooler at the school where you're picking up kids

Man if you knew who was talking to you and what I had to give you you'd be asking me for something a lot more

What if you showed up like it though

So then she says to him sir we I have nothing to you have nothing to draw with in the waters deep where then do you get this living water

You know are you you're not greater than our father Jacob are you who gave us the well and drank of himself and his sons and his cattle

So she's thrown around like I know stuff I know some things

Jesus answered and said hey everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst

But the water that I give him will be come in him a well of water springing up to living to eternal life

He starts speaking in a different language he's speaking from a different realm and what's intriguing is he's speaking to something that she's in need of freely you received freely give

What if your normal spoke of something that caused hunger in somebody else cause they saw something they didn't know was available and they're saying what must I do

They don't it hasn't happened to me where they say must what must I do to get saved but it has happened with saying what must I do to parent my kids better cause they saw something

Yeah yeah what what what must I do to have that relationship with the Lord because they experience something not because I was preaching simply because I was just being freely you receive freely give

This is why the grow part this is why the transformative nature piece is so important is cause if the transform transform the nature of transformation is that you'll become like him

Then you'll do what he's done and you won't do it with by trying because it's what you become and then you just show up in an area spot area of influence and be and what is in you spills out all over and people see it and go wait a minute I didn't know there was such a thing so what does she say

Next woman said to him sir give me this water so I will not be thirsty nor come all this way here to draw

He touched on something

He he he just said hey here's here's a reality that's available and she was hungry for it and she's like hey I want that

How do I get that thirsty to never thirsty again

I don't I mean this has to be like a spirit to spirit transaction because in the natural you'd be thinking you're crazy

I don't even know what you're talking about

Never thirsty again not possible but we know about this in in in uh the road to amayas when uh the disciple said did not our hearts burn within us when he spoke to us

See I have a I have a belief that when Jesus spoke something happened in the spirit because of who he was and where he sat and the revelation he sat in and the identity of who he was that people experience something

You ever have that happen where you're hearing a preacher you're hearing a message or whatever happens to be with Bill Johnson a lot where I'm hearing something all of a sudden my spirit comes alive

I might not even agree with it cognitively but something in here is like resonating

You ever have that happen

I have a belief that I think that's meant to be our normal in our everyday life

When people talk to us it should be said did not our hearts burn within us because of the presence and power of god that sentence them to someone come on now yes come on so this is how he's showing up and this is what she she finds

She's hungry then he says to her go call your husband and come here

The woman answers and says I have no husband and Jesus said you've answered correctly you got it right you have no husband for you've had five husbands and the one in whom you now have is not your husband

This you have said truly what's happening he gives her a word of knowledge let's remember it started cause he's tired he engaged in a conversation he showed up at the reality that he lives in and then he drops a word of knowledge and says hey not only do you do you not have a husband but the one you're not with isn't your husband and you've had five well anybody get prophetic training right we've gone through this this is you can do this you get a word of knowledge information you didn't have its otherworldly well what happens when you get a word knowledge

It rises faith and causes an individual to go oh wait a minute something's happening here more than I can perceive in the natural

The woman says sir I perceive that you're a prophet

Our fathers worshipped in this mountain and you people say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship

And Jesus said to her so all of a sudden something's inspiring she's like whoa there's stuff going on

I think you're a prophet I know this more I know information about this too

And then Jesus says woman believe me an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the father

You worship what you do know but we worship what we you worship what you do not know

We worship what we do know for salvation is from the Jews but an hour is coming and now is when true worshippers will worship the father in spirit and truth

For such people the father seeks to be his worshippers

God is spirit and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth

What's he start saying now she's like hey is this what's happening

And he goes hey let me tell you an hour's coming now is let me give you a prophetic word let me tell you about your future

Anybody else been to prophetic training

You can do this let me give you a prophetic word about your future

Oh you're hungry for worship

You're it's not available right now but let me tell you what's getting ready to come

This is actually getting ready to be available and now already is and this is what's gonna happen is you're gonna be able to worship him in spirit and truth

Even you even though you've been excluded up until now gives your hope gives your prophetic word about a future that is is is is bigger and better than her previous her current reality

Let me tell you about what the lord's doing what he wants to do what he has available for you

Hope is now just enter the equation

What's her response

The woman says to him I know that Messiah is coming he who call is called Christ

When one comes he will declare all things to us

And Jesus says to her I who speak to you and he at this point the disciples come they're amazed that he'd been speaking with a woman yet no one no one said anything don't question we're just

So the woman left her water pot went into the city and said to the man come see a man who has told me all the things that I have done

Is this not the Christ is it

They went out of the city and were coming to him he was tired

It got engaged in a conversation around a water cooler began to drop a word of knowledge start talking about what's available what's coming bringing hope bringing lifting possibilities

She got so rocked that she went back to the city and said come see what I've seen and they came to this place

Meanwhile disciples were urging him to eat saying Rabbi eat and I have and then Jesus says I have food that food to eat that you don't know of

So even to his disciples he's speaking a different language and disciples aren't getting it

They're like wait no one brought him any food today

And then he says hey my food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work family

The food is to do the will of our father and to accomplish his work

We have a mission

It won't be found in your hobbies and yet it'll be discovered then that's another that'll be next week but it's not in your soul thriving

No it's actually in your spirit leading and bringing a reality from another world into this one that we actually become sustained

My food is to do the will of him who sent me to and what is it to be a part of the mission in the mandate to go therefore into all nations discipling them teaching him in the ways of the father and the Kingdom

Let's do it

Let's just jump down really really quick

Well let's go to 37 for in this case the saying is true

One sows and another reaps

I sent you to reap that which for which you have not labored

Others have labored and you have entered into their labor

This is important because sometimes we think we all have the same method and the same goal

The goal the goal is to reconcile mankind to the father to restore the dream that was lost

But how you go about doing it what your role is going to be in it might be different than the person next to you

One might reap and one might sow

And if we put some sort of a box into what every person supposed to do then you lose the expression of the fast of the glory of god

Every individuals meant to release which should be unique

So how one person restores and reconciles will look different than the next person even though the goal is the same

Hmm won't get there yet talk about that next week

Okay so here I just wanna land on this

Here the um from that go to 39 from the city from that city

Many of the Samaritans believed in him because of the word of the woman who testified test

She testified they gave a testimony so he told me all the things that I've done

That was the testimony

So when the Samaritans came to Jesus they were asking him to stay with him

He stayed with him two more days

Many more believe because of his word and they were saying to the woman it's no longer because of what you said that we believe for now we have heard for ourselves and know that this one is indeed the savior of the world

So they heard the testimony of an individual who got encountered by someone who was tired at the well and got a word of knowledge and a prophetic word

And they all came and and believed on her testimony

Then they came and heard from him directly and then many more believed because someone was tired and decided to show up

It's the simplification of it but this is what took place regardless if you know he knew what time the day she was gonna be there and all the things that we've heard the teachings about regardless of that if we're just looking at what happened this is what happened

He was tired she showed up he showed up he delivered hope fed it word word of knowledge the city comes and they come to be reconciled to the father

They come to become they get saved by her testimony and then by his

This is a big deal

I think we all can do this

Yeah it's just showing up in your everyday wherever you are giving away what is been freely given to you

Come on dad

Wow I apologize

We getting it we just get to show up in our normal everyday life give away what's been given to you and we're on a mission to get more cause we're supernatural people growing and more in the likeness of Jesus

Once you guys stand I'll pray for you so wanna encourage us that starts with the mindset

This says oh no I I have been called to change the world I have been called to influence wherever my feet trot

I I I I have been called to help make the world better and I do it wherever I show up

That's right that's right

When I show up in a in a restaurant I my it's a core thought I'm not thinking on the front of my mind how do I make this place better but it's how I show up how how I how can I help and serve the server that serving me how can I encourage her how can I help make her day better

It's just a parkour part of who we are because it's we think the way he thinks

Okay so Lord I just thank you for what you're doing this morning

I thank you for what you're doing with our body

And Lord I just even in part just a a a hunger and a desire to pursue to pursue you that you would get what you paid for in the world we live in

Because you paid for it to be different

You paid for it to be reconciled to something different

You paid for it to be restored to what your dream was

Lord help us see what we can't see

Give us wisdom and revelation and understanding as we just explore what this looks like in our life

And we carry the mission that you've given us to become ministers of reconciliation

Lord we bless what you're doing in Jesus name amen
