  1. well hello family

  2. so good to be with you guys

  3. yeah

  4. it's an honor to be here

  5. well I wrote a book

  6. it only took me 15 years

  7. no it

  8. you know

  9. it's really

  10. it's been it's been my honor and privilege now for uh

  11. 20 something years to to walk through people

  12. walk with people through their story through their pain

  13. and so this is really you know

  14. 15 20 years of just serving people in the redemption

  15. of walking through the valley of the shadow of death

  16. and having the light of Jesus's face

  17. just shine upon them you know

  18. something really really beautiful is

  19. you are actually wired for attachment

  20. you're wired for attachment with god

  21. yourself and others

  22. and I love it I pray this over my kids almost every

  23. um night

  24. is I say to them may the Lord bless you and keep you

  25. and cause his face to shine upon you

  26. and one of the the greatest ways to walk through pain

  27. is to know you have somebody's face

  28. shining upon every part of you

  29. and so this is a very very practical guide

  30. um the

  31. the first you know

  32. hundred pages or so our

  33. our stories and and just practical uh

  34. tools to help you walk through pain

  35. Jen and I created a framework called soil

  36. which is what we use in our um

  37. aisle internal leadership experience

  38. to help leaders you know

  39. grow in their relationship with themselves

  40. others and god

  41. and so in this is

  42. is some of those frameworks

  43. and then the end is really

  44. actually

  45. the practical place where you get to get your grief

  46. and um

  47. grief is simply the pain that is trapped and stored

  48. within your body

  49. and within your mind and within your heart

  50. you get to get the grief up and out

  51. through this thing we called mourning

  52. and as you do that process

  53. it's amazing what begins to come in

  54. I mean so many people tell me all the time

  55. they're like hey Justin

  56. but I don't have any pain

  57. and I simply look at them and say liar

  58. no I don't say that

  59. that would be rude that would that wouldn't be kind

  60. I say I probably

  61. I know because most of us live life numb

  62. we live life detached from our hearts

  63. and we're doing a lot of good things

  64. we're saying a lot of good things

  65. but in here and when our head hits the pillow

  66. we feel lonely we feel lost

  67. and we feel confused

  68. and then we quote scriptures to ourselves like

  69. the joy of the Lord is my strength shouldn't I be okay

  70. and what I found out is there's really

  71. you know three components of this experience

  72. called integration or wholeness

  73. which is bringing all of ourselves into the father

  74. into the son and the Holy Spirit

  75. and what that looks like is

  76. is the three components are um forgiveness repentance

  77. how many of you guys

  78. have ever heard a sermon on forgiveness or repentance

  79. so I knew a lot about those

  80. but the third one was morning

  81. and it was getting this grief up and out

  82. and once I found out how to do that

  83. now I've got to walk with hundreds of leaders

  84. through this process of getting their grief up and out

  85. so that all that joy of the Lord that we talk about

  86. all that beauty of the Lord that we talk about

  87. actually gets inside of us

  88. because if your life is so full of pain

  89. and you've never Learned how to process your story

  90. what happens is there's no room for anything ever

  91. there's no room for anything else to enter your soul

  92. and morning allows you to drain out the processes

  93. of your experiences

  94. so that the things that we can believe

  95. can begin to enter this very crucial part of us

  96. as humans and I just want to let you know

  97. god loves your humanity

  98. he loves your humanness

  99. and he wants to walk with you in this

  100. so where did Andy go

  101. I'm gonna fulfill that dream buddy

  102. I wanna just

  103. might as well do it right here right

  104. this is the fulfillment there it is

  105. dreams fulfilled today look at that night dreams

  106. yeah

  107. now now he gets to process pain

  108. what a gift huh

  109. oh literally

  110. you guys the front of the book

  111. you open up the first cover is

  112. you get to give this away to somebody

  113. you could actually write in it

  114. like here

  115. you get to process pain too

  116. and what I love about um uh

  117. just this process of of

  118. of prospering pain it's so funny to watch

  119. just watch people um

  120. when we talk about this but it's a

  121. it's a it's a fun

  122. it's a fun book super fun

  123. you get so much joy I'm teasing

  124. it's not it's really deep

  125. it's actually

  126. yeah but the again

  127. the end result really is joy

  128. the joy of the Lord is your strength

  129. and it gets to undergird you

  130. and so we actually

  131. we had an aisle accelerator lot yesterday here

  132. if you were at that Whoo Whoo

  133. we love you guys and so I had a few of my wife's books

  134. The War on Your Voice

  135. such a good book and I was gonna sell those too

  136. but the challenge is we ran out yesterday

  137. so we have no more of these

  138. but you can get this one on Amazon

  139. yeah um

  140. is there a woman here here

  141. that just got married recently

  142. that does not have this book

  143. that does not have this book

  144. do you have it

  145. come on come yes

  146. I love you

  147. so the war in your voice you can get that on Amazon

  148. it's a great

  149. so uh

  150. we have you know

  151. just Blake and I have something exciting coming up

  152. look on the screen

  153. so we have the veil within podcast coming out

  154. we've already filmed three episodes

  155. we're getting ready to release that

  156. our friendship for the last 13 years

  157. our life is like a podcast together

  158. we're just doing what we've always done

  159. we sit down and we start talking about something

  160. about the Lord and we just go off

  161. and so this is what's happening right now

  162. we have three episodes um

  163. it's not out yet it should be out in the next two weeks

  164. and so I'm just excited about that and wanted to

  165. to give you guys that

  166. so you can just look forward to that

  167. um you'll be able to find it in all the places

  168. that we find everything

  169. and this is something um

  170. I just want to give you guys a gift from Jen and I

  171. today this is our um

  172. this is our aisle assessment

  173. this actually helps you understand where you're at

  174. in your internal leadership experience process

  175. how you're doing with

  176. leading yourself in the way of Jesus

  177. I wanna um

  178. encourage you take a picture of it

  179. cause I don't want you to take the test right now

  180. and then you can scan the QR code from that picture

  181. um so

  182. this is just an assessment

  183. that will help you realize

  184. where you're at in your internal leadership journey

  185. and there's something very interesting to me

  186. the greatest commandment is

  187. love the Lord thy god with all thy heart soul

  188. mind and strength and the second is

  189. love your neighbor as

  190. it's been very very interesting

  191. but I hear very very

  192. very few people in the church

  193. that are just madly in love with Jesus

  194. talking about

  195. what does it look like to have healthy self love

  196. and the challenges um I

  197. I look at uh

  198. love in a triad Father God at the top

  199. Father Son Holy Spirit at the top

  200. um others

  201. and then ourselves and the challenges

  202. there's like an Assumption

  203. that you already know how to love yourself

  204. and almost every human I meet

  205. when I begin to hear their story

  206. and when they begin to talk to them about themselves

  207. one of the greatest uh

  208. enemies of themselves isn't the enemy

  209. it's actually their own self talk

  210. it's the way they relate to themselves

  211. it's the way they they talk

  212. so most people don't really know how to love yourself

  213. and yes

  214. we put god first I love um

  215. the Beatitudes I've been reading it almost every day

  216. for the last four years and it says

  217. blessed are the poor in spirit

  218. for theirs is the kingdom of heaven

  219. simply that means to be utterly dependent on god

  220. completely totally dependent on god

  221. so Jesus is all in all the challenge is

  222. is we're in him

  223. so in that inness or witness

  224. as Ephesians talks about over and over again

  225. we want to know and learn how to actually have a a

  226. a love for ourselves and we say it this way

  227. you want to love yourself

  228. the way that Jesus loves you

  229. you want to be kind to yourself

  230. the way Jesus is kind to you and patient with you

  231. and I love it my wife says it all the time

  232. Jesus is the slowest person she's ever met

  233. he's so patient

  234. can you be that patient with yourself

  235. in your own process

  236. so this test will just help you just kind of

  237. assess where you're at and in that um

  238. you can actually connect with us in other ways

  239. so we'd love you to look at that

  240. and so we're gonna talk about really

  241. something fun this morning

  242. I like to talk about fun subjects like pain

  243. and that's what we're gonna talk about

  244. cause it's what I wrote a book about

  245. so um

  246. I am really passionate about um

  247. leading a soul revolution come on

  248. an apostolic revolution

  249. that really brings heaven to earth

  250. through the process of people

  251. in a healthy way knowing themselves

  252. not in an unhealthy way

  253. we obviously have the perversion that's very loud

  254. you can go anywhere and buy a self help book right now

  255. you can hear a lot about self

  256. the challenge is a lot of it's not sanctified self

  257. it's not in Christ self

  258. and we wanna do everything from the lens

  259. of being in Christ

  260. and so

  261. yeah on this really

  262. this apostolic reformation of just the soul where

  263. where Christians have a healthy spirit

  264. where they know how to take care of their spirit man

  265. but then they also know how to take care of their soul

  266. which our soul is made up of our mind

  267. will and emotions

  268. and so we're gonna explore some of that today

  269. but within this framework

  270. within what we're talking about

  271. I'd really love to

  272. to just think about this right here in

  273. in intimacy intimacy is really into me

  274. you see and we're really

  275. really looking for

  276. intimacy is forged in the fire of vulnerability

  277. it's forged in that fire

  278. and it's one of the reasons Jen and I created aisle

  279. is because we've Learned that people

  280. how they heal best

  281. is when they're seen and known in a real

  282. safe way through safety

  283. and because of a lot of our stories

  284. it's why I talk so much about pain

  285. um we a lot of times didn't have that safety

  286. I'm coming from our external world

  287. our culture our family of origin

  288. there was a lot of unsafe experiences that LED us to

  289. to just a a life that was detached on the inside

  290. and so I do want to invite you guys

  291. as you take this assessment

  292. if you look at that I

  293. I really feel like there's there's

  294. there's a mission that we're on for not just Jen and I

  295. and again we're in Bethel Redding right now

  296. I

  297. I'm so excited about seeing that culture impacted just

  298. with Soul Health at a whole new level

  299. and I'm the biggest fan of signs

  300. wonders and miracles uh

  301. my my

  302. my wife my wife

  303. my daughter's boyfriend

  304. um came over yes

  305. both of my my oldest daughters

  306. they're in school ministry

  307. and when you go to school ministry in Redding

  308. if you're not if you're single

  309. you find somebody it's just kind of like the gift

  310. it's kind of like the package deal

  311. school ministry so both of them find somebody and um

  312. my my

  313. my oldest daughter Kylie

  314. her uh

  315. her boyfriend Owen came over

  316. and

  317. it was one of the first or second times he came over

  318. and he was telling us about his life

  319. and it was super fun and he looks at me and he goes

  320. hey Justin

  321. you know I had this friend in high school that told me

  322. if I ever get healed he'd meet Jesus

  323. I said oh

  324. tell me more

  325. and we started to share miracle testimonies and stories

  326. and when he was 9 years old

  327. he broke his arm and he broke it

  328. he had to have surgery and in the surgery

  329. they had to do something with the bone

  330. fuse it back

  331. and so when he put his arms like this on a table

  332. one of his arms was about

  333. that much shorter than the other one

  334. it was a good inch shorter

  335. and he kept on going I've been prayed by so many people

  336. and and we're

  337. we're sitting there sharing testimonies

  338. all the families around I had a big tri tip spread

  339. I love cooking tri tip

  340. and I'm there cooking and so I just got done cutting it

  341. and he he shows it all

  342. he shows it up and he's like

  343. holding like this and I just go

  344. oh wow

  345. okay and

  346. and I look at him and I say

  347. in the name of Jesus grow

  348. and before me and all the girls in general

  349. there it just goes

  350. and it completely lined up

  351. it was a wild experience

  352. I've seen miracles like that before

  353. but this was I've never in that way with the hands

  354. and so the bone either extended or

  355. however that happens however

  356. god did it supernaturally

  357. but it was super fun

  358. so I love miracles I love signs and wonders

  359. I love the now of god but in that

  360. I think at times we've missed the longevity process

  361. it takes for attachment to be formed

  362. because attachment is not a quick process

  363. it's a slow process

  364. again how

  365. how many of you have ever had a Newborn

  366. it wasn't just the one time you picked them up

  367. that they felt oh

  368. now we're we're bonded

  369. how much work did that take ladies

  370. that feeding process that beautiful process

  371. and so

  372. yeah so we're gonna go after that

  373. and this is this is really what we're gonna talk about

  374. so walking through pain

  375. pain pleasure

  376. and presence

  377. and so this is one of my favorite uh

  378. scriptures

  379. that I've been studying now for the last three years

  380. and this is at the end of Matthew

  381. this is right after

  382. one of the most exciting charges from Jesus

  383. which is about loving your enemy

  384. one of the only ways you know

  385. you're actually walking out this attached life

  386. to the Godhead is by loving your enemy

  387. and I wanna let you know

  388. if you don't think you have enemies you're lying

  389. a bunch of Christians don't think they have enemies

  390. we have lots of enemies

  391. there's so much in the world that is an enemy

  392. to what god wants to do in the world

  393. but what we get to do is

  394. we get to counteract the experience

  395. of what an enemy is with love

  396. and this is the beauty of Jesus

  397. and so in this scripture

  398. it's it's like

  399. it's a massive scripture be perfect

  400. therefore as my heavenly father is perfect

  401. and that word within my personality was very tormenting

  402. because that word meant to me

  403. perform

  404. as your heavenly father is perfect

  405. and the Greek word is telios

  406. and telios is a beautiful world word

  407. because a better translation of this word would be

  408. whole therefore

  409. as my father is whole and what holiness is

  410. is wholeness is our ability to bring all of who we are

  411. into the light of the glory and presence of god

  412. all of you and so many of us long to bring

  413. some parts of us

  414. but other parts we don't like to bring

  415. a great test for that before you turn

  416. the TV on

  417. oh thank you so much

  418. Lord

  419. that I get ready to watch a show tonight or a movie

  420. and I thank you that you're gonna be here with me

  421. and where I'm gonna abide with you

  422. as I turn on this TV show

  423. just inviting you in to what I'm watching with you

  424. just bring you into it and just find out what happens

  425. I'm gonna bring you in you know

  426. I don't like to pray for food

  427. just in the the old religious way it felt like

  428. but in the new way of father

  429. thank you for this beautiful meal that's set before me

  430. that's gonna bring nutrition to my body and

  431. and it really helps with overeating

  432. because you when you invite him into things

  433. it's amazing what you will do and won't do anymore

  434. and wholeness is when we're able to bring everything

  435. into the light of who he is

  436. and so one of the things that

  437. that takes us on this journey with Jesus

  438. and you know

  439. Jesus was honest about his pain

  440. and so Jesus walked out wholeness

  441. he didn't walk out with parts of him

  442. that he brought into church

  443. in the temple and different places

  444. and other parts of him that was just for him alone

  445. he brought him whole his whole self everywhere he went

  446. and you know

  447. it really makes me think about the garden of Gethsemane

  448. with Jesus and it's such a

  449. a wild experience of Jesus

  450. processing pain with the father

  451. and so he said to the father he

  452. he goes in this chapter and he says

  453. father take this cup from me

  454. I don't I don't wanna do this

  455. I don't wanna be here and to me

  456. it's reflective of the psalmist David saying god

  457. where are you

  458. god I'm about to do something that's really hard

  459. speaking to his father say

  460. I'm about to do something I don't want to do

  461. this is gonna be really really painful

  462. very very difficult

  463. and then right after he's just

  464. he's expressing his pain to the father

  465. he goes to his friends and these are his

  466. this is this is his vulnerability buddies

  467. these are his friends

  468. that he gets to be seen and known by

  469. his friends that he has intimacy with

  470. James and John and

  471. and he says to them what are you doing

  472. why are you sleeping what did he ask him to do

  473. he said stay up and pray

  474. he does this process three times back and forth

  475. of being honest with his pain

  476. and I I love it

  477. Jesus never sinned yet he still said

  478. take this cup from me

  479. and within our movement I'm very

  480. very proud of us for the way we guard our tongue

  481. it's important to guard your mouth

  482. guard what you say

  483. but one of the things that I've noticed

  484. as people guard what they say

  485. is they lose something very

  486. very important to authenticity which is honesty

  487. they don't actually know how they're doing anymore

  488. in the present moment

  489. they don't know how to be present with themselves

  490. because they're trying to sound a certain way

  491. that they think is protecting them

  492. right and I believe

  493. you know in James

  494. it talks all about guard the tongue

  495. it's the rudder of the our

  496. our life and it's a really important thing to guard

  497. but David modeled that in a very

  498. very unique way yeah

  499. if you had some of this this Ling

  500. this lens on of you're not supposed to say that

  501. almost half of what David wrote in the Psalms

  502. was all him sounding like he was complaining

  503. and you know what god said about David

  504. you're a man after my heart

  505. because he had a heart

  506. he actually knew what to do with his heart

  507. he didn't just stay in the metanoia

  508. in the mind in the brain

  509. and I love uh

  510. first um

  511. first Christians 12 it talks about

  512. you know don't be conformed to this world

  513. be transformed by the renewing of your mind

  514. and I think that we've also forgot

  515. that the renewing of our mind

  516. is also about the capturing of

  517. the renewing of our heart

  518. our our emotions

  519. and what's going on in the inside of us

  520. and so to be in that

  521. you know

  522. telling the truth sets you free

  523. you know it says that the truth will set you free

  524. make sure that you're honest in telling the truth

  525. cause if you forget to be honest

  526. this is what happens in the psychological world

  527. they call it fractures or splits

  528. is our head and our heart begin to split into two

  529. and you don't trust yourself no more

  530. and I don't mean the yucky part of trust yourself

  531. I mean that in in Christ trust yourself

  532. and you then don't have a relationship with you

  533. because you don't know what to do with emotion

  534. you don't know what to do with the heart um life

  535. and so which brings me to the joyous passage of happy

  536. blessed are those who mourn

  537. happy are you who are sad

  538. this is how you could translate

  539. this is literally in the Greek

  540. you could translate this verse as

  541. happy are those who are sad

  542. why are they happy and when they're sad

  543. it's cause they have an expectation of comfort

  544. there it is yeah

  545. that's right they have the expectation of

  546. who is with them in the middle of sadness

  547. this is why David got to be so honest

  548. though I'm in Sheol or hell

  549. the uttermost parts of the earth the depth of pain

  550. I will fear no evil because you're with me

  551. you're with me he cares about you when you're up here

  552. and when you're down here

  553. and if you never go to here or here

  554. you stay here

  555. you know what this is a numb

  556. shallow sad existence

  557. because you don't experience the expanse of

  558. what it means to be human

  559. in the context of witness that he's with you

  560. and so many of us are afraid to go down to heal

  561. we're afraid to go down into our pain

  562. because we're afraid we're gonna get lost in it

  563. guess who already found you

  564. guess who already called you his own

  565. guess whose face is shining upon you all day long

  566. always

  567. he's so happy to be with you where you are

  568. so morning

  569. we experience comfort

  570. which opens an increased door for healing

  571. which leads to this process of joy

  572. when you skip morning and try to go straight to joy

  573. your joy is shallow

  574. it's discontented joy

  575. which Matthew 5 um

  576. 6 says blessed are the meek

  577. for they will inherit the earth

  578. a better way to say that is

  579. blessed are those who are content with who they are

  580. no more no less

  581. that's the moment they find themselves

  582. proud owners of everything that cannot be bought

  583. that's what the message says

  584. contentment that I can be good

  585. that this is me

  586. I have really good things happen

  587. and I've had really traumatic things happen

  588. wow

  589. and when I can bring all of me to all of him

  590. even though all of me is already in all of him

  591. but when I can wake up to the reality

  592. my soul starts to wake up

  593. my soul starts to be reformed

  594. my soul starts to experience

  595. the glory and the beauty of god

  596. in a whole new way and this is the way you love others

  597. is because you actually are so full inside

  598. with love from god and love for yourself

  599. that love just spills out everywhere you go

  600. just spills all over you

  601. and so pleasure and pain

  602. are are

  603. are some of the the experiences we have that

  604. that we're gonna look at

  605. and so as many of us really

  606. we've Learned to avoid pain

  607. and when pain overwhelms us

  608. these are the things that will happens within our soul

  609. we begin to get numb we begin to perform

  610. we begin to get distracted

  611. we begin to dissociate or disconnect

  612. we begin to walk out control

  613. if you have struggled with control

  614. I promise you there's some pain under that

  615. that needs the light and beauty of Jesus

  616. that's good

  617. anxiety

  618. irritability

  619. exhaustion

  620. blank I feel blank

  621. in his presence is fullness

  622. joy as right hand are pleasures forevermore

  623. and in that place of him

  624. wanting to experience pleasures with us

  625. when our soul is detached from self we feel blank

  626. and ultimately

  627. oh it's supposed to say disconnected

  628. I missed the diss

  629. she's a big but

  630. she's a big big big word to miss there

  631. but I'm I accept myself right where I'm at

  632. and this is what you get within me

  633. and we feel so disconnected

  634. and you want this alive

  635. vibrant connection with yourself

  636. not that seeks its own way or seeks itself

  637. but it's just content with

  638. who you are and guess what

  639. you have weaknesses and strengths

  640. and when you only focus on your strengths

  641. you become blind to who you are

  642. you're not walking out wholeness

  643. which leads to really gross things like narcissism

  644. and so when we're holding pain

  645. we gotta go to pleasure

  646. because anytime you think of pain

  647. what we long for is pleasure

  648. and the challenges is so many of us have cheapened

  649. comfort comfort has become an external reality

  650. it's become something that we look to fill us up

  651. in a temporal very temporary way

  652. and it's so sad because most of these

  653. all of these things are gifts from god right

  654. they're actually so healthy

  655. when they're in the right place

  656. for those that people that mourn

  657. do these things well

  658. people who don't get the grief up and out of them

  659. end up trading this

  660. the comfort of him for the comfort of things

  661. which produces our greatest epidemic of addiction

  662. that we've had in the history of the world

  663. that's happening right now

  664. it's because of

  665. people don't know how to face their pain

  666. they've never been shown how though

  667. they've never been taught how

  668. they've never had somebody walk with them in their pain

  669. oh

  670. so now they walk around stigmatized with all this stuff

  671. like I'm a sex addict

  672. or I'm a drunk I'm

  673. I'm these kind of things

  674. we actually purpose it as their identity

  675. which is never their identity

  676. it's they went for it because they needed to feel good

  677. and god designed them to feel good

  678. I I I

  679. I work with men all the time

  680. and women that have sexual addiction

  681. and most of the time

  682. it's not because they have a giant spirit of lust

  683. demon that's floating over them

  684. there is there are

  685. there is those times and then we just

  686. we get Blake and we go wow

  687. say begone in Jesus name the challenges is when we say

  688. begone in Jesus name

  689. and the demon literally flees

  690. and then they walk around empty for the next two years

  691. because they've never found out what could fill it up

  692. then that enemy goes against a bunch of other enemies

  693. and then they're more tormented

  694. with Deliverance Ministry

  695. without the process of actually loving yourself

  696. and learning how to walk through that process

  697. creates a bunch of more broken people

  698. that's why discipleship formation is such a big process

  699. sanctification

  700. the process of growing from glory to glory

  701. being holy set apart

  702. and so it's such a big deal that we walk with people

  703. we walk with ourselves with the Godhead

  704. through these processes and for most of us

  705. we're not in deep addiction over here

  706. but these things rather than being blessings from god

  707. they're numbing experiences that just mute our soul

  708. where we have shallow experience on the inside of us

  709. and we feel sad but we don't know why

  710. and most of the time

  711. it's because we've never faced the pain inside of us

  712. we've never got that grief up and out

  713. and so our our soul is so full

  714. and so I love that these are blessings

  715. and as believers we need to see them as blessings

  716. when spirit soul

  717. and body fall out of alignment

  718. this is what happens we fracture internally

  719. we disconnect there it is

  720. you see that I got the dis in there guys

  721. to connect we disconnect from ourselves

  722. we lose peace

  723. so this is one of the ways to restore

  724. this is actually

  725. a healthy relationship with these puppies

  726. how many of you have a healthy relationship with fear

  727. in here I sure do

  728. I'm serious

  729. I'm like

  730. so confused about our streams relationship with fear

  731. get that last one out there

  732. so if you notice about these eight core emotions

  733. there's only one that's like that's the good one

  734. all those other ones are bad

  735. those are all those are all demons

  736. look at all those demons

  737. those aren't emotions

  738. Blake get him

  739. and what happens is when we don't realize

  740. the difference between the three pathways

  741. to actually become tormented

  742. is emotions are simply a physiological response

  743. to something happening in the moment

  744. an attitude is a state of being

  745. when you invite an attitude of sadness

  746. or an attitude of fear that opens up the demon of fear

  747. it opens up the

  748. the scriptures called the spirit of fear

  749. Lord isn't giving you a spirit of fear

  750. but a power of a sound mind

  751. that's nothing to do with the emotion of fear

  752. has to do with the spirit that's wrapped behind it

  753. and the challenges is a lot of times

  754. we're trying to cast something out of us

  755. that is actually an emotional signal

  756. that's trying to tell us something that's very

  757. very helpful

  758. and so when we're not emotionally intelligent

  759. and we're only spiritually intelligent

  760. it's the other things that creates a spiritual bypass

  761. where we bypass the very thing that Jesus came to save

  762. he didn't just come to set you free

  763. and make you the shell of a person to like

  764. fly around fly around in glory

  765. without a body

  766. the end of the world is not about heaven

  767. it's about a new earth

  768. with an embodied believers that are actually attached

  769. so connected and so whole inside themselves

  770. that just creates the beautiful community of god

  771. where the face of god is shining over them all the time

  772. all day long

  773. this is what it's all about

  774. we're not gonna be like

  775. floating in body I mean out um

  776. just spirits around

  777. but so many of us want that

  778. and the reason you want that

  779. is because

  780. you never Learned how to have self attachment

  781. you've never been shown how to have actually

  782. a healthy experience with sadness or fear anger

  783. and we could talk about all these for hours

  784. but we can't

  785. so all of all emotion emotion is not good

  786. or bad it just is

  787. and

  788. when you begin to develop a relationship with yourself

  789. you'll have these and be able to discern

  790. discernment is not so much about others

  791. there is the spirit of sermon

  792. it's a big deal it's a good thing

  793. but it's mostly about learning how to discern yourself

  794. is this an enemy is this the enemy

  795. we know what to do with the enemy

  796. wow

  797. we said go

  798. we just haven't Learned what to do with ourselves

  799. so

  800. look at that little guy look at him

  801. do you know who that is dun dun dun

  802. that's Superman I mean Justin

  803. and you know

  804. Justin wanted to be Superman I love that cape

  805. ah

  806. so fun

  807. and so about two years later

  808. I was riding horses

  809. and we'd go to my grandparents in Modesto

  810. and we'd ride horses and it was super fun

  811. so much joy being with them

  812. enjoying the horses enjoying their cows

  813. I love being out there in their backyard

  814. they had nine acres and about nine or 10 cows

  815. I think two horses and so we'd go riding with them

  816. um when I was little

  817. and when I turned six I started to ride

  818. um

  819. we we

  820. we got an opportunity to go to a neighbor's house

  821. and this neighbor had a special horse

  822. like a horse that was supposed to be

  823. like an award winning horse and supposed to be a very

  824. very fun moment and so me and my brother

  825. and my mom we were super excited to go ride the horse

  826. and as we were riding

  827. um I got to ride the horse

  828. and my brother got to ride the horse

  829. and that was just all peaceful

  830. and then my mom got on the horse

  831. and my mom

  832. my mom uh

  833. the the cowboy who was helping her

  834. leading her on the the horse

  835. started going yeah

  836. you wanna go fast Mickey

  837. you wanna go fast Michelle

  838. Mom's name is Mickey Michelle

  839. and so he begins to like

  840. had this little like

  841. whip thing out there I don't even know what it is

  842. I'm not I was not

  843. I have not been a horse person

  844. you can find this out in a second and

  845. and they begin to whip the horse

  846. and the horse starts to just like

  847. just take off and he had it still on a lead rope

  848. and my mom begins to scream

  849. and is falling off the horse screaming

  850. and that little Superman boy just lost his ever

  851. loving mind

  852. I just remember start screaming at the top of my lungs

  853. get her off the horse get her off the horse

  854. and I'm bawling I'm

  855. I'm just crying my eyes out

  856. I feel so scared

  857. I can actually feel the sensation of fear inside me

  858. which was not the spirit of fear

  859. it was the emotion of fear

  860. I can feel that fear all through my stomach right now

  861. and I was so afraid

  862. and I remember thinking my mom was gonna die

  863. and again I'm six years old

  864. so all I know is what I'm seeing

  865. and I'm thinking she's gonna die

  866. and I she gets off

  867. she's okay she was scared too

  868. I was so angry at the man

  869. I'm like I'm gonna be like Jesus

  870. I'm gonna go make a whip

  871. i'mma come back here first

  872. i'mma turn over the horse rather than a table

  873. and then i'mma turn over you

  874. Mister Cowboy

  875. and I was

  876. I was angry I was sad

  877. I was scared I didn't know what to do

  878. and I remember

  879. it locked something in me from a core memory

  880. it locked in my soul

  881. that ah

  882. I never wanna feel powerless again

  883. I never wanna feel like I felt in that moment

  884. it locked in that soul it locked in my soul

  885. that I carry responsibility for others safety choices

  886. marriages faith outcome

  887. I carry responsibility for everybody else's life

  888. and again I was six

  889. and it obviously wasn't only from that experience

  890. but it locked a responsibility in that little boy

  891. in that little Superman

  892. that walked around to

  893. to everybody he met carrying the weight of your health

  894. your salvation is in my hands

  895. and this was all implicit

  896. this was not frontal lobe

  897. this was not in the front of my mind or memory

  898. this is all an explicit experience

  899. there was way down in my subconscious

  900. which LED me to when I was

  901. uh

  902. to 2,000 and one 2000

  903. twenty one sorry

  904. it LED me into this experience for 2,019 20 21

  905. into this really deep depression

  906. and I could not figure out why or how

  907. um the depression was going on

  908. what was going on and through a whole bunch of work

  909. which we don't have time to get into right now

  910. I I begin to discover

  911. within some of these core memories

  912. lied this boy

  913. that felt responsible for everybody around them

  914. and I had another theological kind of mishap

  915. happened to me

  916. it was an experience I had with god when I was

  917. I think eight or nine

  918. and I saw myself standing on the hand of god

  919. and I heard a voice say um

  920. and it was looking over the pit of hell

  921. and I heard a voice say

  922. these are the people you didn't tell about me

  923. so I had all this responsibility

  924. for how everybody was doing

  925. and in that season uh

  926. the years prior to 2,019

  927. a couple of my friends got divorced

  928. and some things started to happen

  929. that I felt responsible for

  930. and if if you would have said any of that to me

  931. I would have looked at you and laughed and said

  932. that doesn't I don't care

  933. I I mean

  934. I care about them

  935. but I don't take responsibility for that

  936. but it was locked and trapped up in some pain

  937. that I never processed

  938. that I didn't get up and out

  939. and so

  940. some of the things that I just

  941. really wanna leave you with guys

  942. some of the ways I just wanna encourage you

  943. is as you begin to come before the father of Grace

  944. and say

  945. is there anything in my story

  946. that you want to bring comfort to

  947. that I'm unaware of

  948. and in the in the back of the book

  949. you'll also see a a QR code

  950. that literally

  951. has a video of how to choose a core memory

  952. it has a video about

  953. what to do when you feel stuck'cause so many of us

  954. when it comes to pain and numbness

  955. we're just like I just don't know how to get out

  956. and I'm real thankful that this is a resource

  957. to come under you guys

  958. to undergird you in your process with pain in your guys

  959. stories and so if you could just stand up with me

  960. blessed are those who mourn

  961. for you will be comforted

  962. I wanna put your hand on your heart

  963. and just close your eyes

  964. Emmanuel is who wants to show up to you

  965. god with you a lot of us we know Jehovah Jireh

  966. the god who provides we know Jehovah Rapha

  967. the god who heals but we don't know God Emmanuel

  968. who wants to be with us in every place of our story

  969. not just in the highs but in the lowest of lows

  970. he wants to be there in the midst of your story

  971. and as your hand is on your heart

  972. I just thank you father

  973. that you are here we are not alone

  974. in the areas of our story

  975. that we feel scared to even look at

  976. you are there

  977. and you wanna take us into a process of mourning

  978. that leads to a deep seated comfort

  979. the being held by the one who gave his life

  980. that we might have life into healing

  981. into this eternal joy

  982. and so I ask that that process

  983. that slowed down process

  984. would be even more apparent in this culture

  985. that we would have such safe people

  986. that we could actually be those who weep

  987. with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice

  988. in Jesus name amen amen
