[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for joining our podcast.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're in this trust issue series where we are talking about money and the church and our money management skills.

[SPEAKER_00]: And today we're going to have some fun looking at various scriptures to find out what the Bible did not say.

[SPEAKER_00]: about money.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want to hire many deeply held beliefs we have about money that are not biblical.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I want you to grab your bibles.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to study multiple passages today.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can follow along in the transcript of this podcast or you can get these notes on the Bible out.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let's study guys work together.

[SPEAKER_00]: All right.

[SPEAKER_00]: So today I want to talk about trust issues of what

[SPEAKER_00]: about money.

[SPEAKER_00]: So if you had a black mama or a black daddy or a black auntie or a black uncle, or a black teacher, then you know, or you've been in the scenario I'm about to explain.

[SPEAKER_00]: I can remember being the young man, and I'll be playing my video games.

[SPEAKER_00]: And my mama coming in and she'll say, uh, Darrell, uh, when you get a chance, those dishes need to be watched.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, oh, okay, yes ma'am.

[SPEAKER_00]: and I keep playing the game.

[SPEAKER_00]: About five minutes later, Darrell Erick's Hall, if you don't get your B-B-B-B.

[SPEAKER_00]: All of that nitty-o game, and go watch them B-B-B-Dishes.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a ring-yo net, because I can take you out of this world, because I brought you in this world.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I mean, see, my mom had this thing about saying one thing, but meaning another.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it was my job to know what she meant by what she said.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it would get back for me when I try to get clever and use against her stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: She said knowing that even though she said it, she ain't really mean it in a way that I'm trying to get clever.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm surprised I survived.

[SPEAKER_00]: My mom was one of them backhanders, you know what I'm saying?

[SPEAKER_00]: Even now I flinch.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm six-one, I'm two-hundredth-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th

[SPEAKER_00]: All right, we've taken the word or we let people tell us the word and will take something it says and completely misapply it to something that never meant.

[SPEAKER_00]: And what we end up doing is in snaring ourselves in a false application of the word or we

[SPEAKER_00]: and then it leads to frustration, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: Because we can't understand why this deeply-held belief is not transmuting or translating to true fruit in our life, but we're not only ones to try to misuse the word.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Satan quoted the word to Jesus.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he said what he said by misusing what it meant by what he said.

[SPEAKER_00]: Look at Matthew chapter four verse five through six.

[SPEAKER_00]: It says, then the devil took him along into the Holy City and had him stand on the pin of glove the temple and he said to him, if you ought to son of God throw yourself down, what church?

[SPEAKER_00]: Four, this Satan telling Jesus what the Bible say.

[SPEAKER_00]: Saiyan says for it is written.

[SPEAKER_00]: He will give his angels orders concerning you and on their hands they will lift you up so that you do not strike your foot against the stone.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's quoting two different Old Testament scriptures saying what they say to try to use them for what they never meant.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then there was this story of people who were trying to manipulate Jesus.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus had just performed his miracle.

[SPEAKER_00]: He took a little boy's lunch and made enough fish sandwiches for 5,000 men and not included women and children.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so when they ate them good fish sandwiches, they was like, oh, yeah, you've been to be our king.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to be our fish sandwich king, matter of fact.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to give you a food truck, fish sandwich king.

[SPEAKER_00]: So they try to ensnare Jesus to keep making them miracle for their sandwiches.

[SPEAKER_00]: So they come to them in John chapter six and look at what they say to them.

[SPEAKER_00]: So they say to him, what then are you doing as a sign?

[SPEAKER_00]: So that we may see and believe you.

[SPEAKER_00]: What work are you performing?

[SPEAKER_00]: Our fathers ate the man in the wilderness, what church as it is written?

[SPEAKER_00]: He gave them bread out of heaven and eat.

[SPEAKER_00]: They just quote it the Bible to Jesus, but they try to manipulate Jesus to keep making them miracles, they sound Jesus.

[SPEAKER_00]: So they come to Jesus and they like, oh, you want us to believe?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, when miracles you're gonna do to help us believe, they double dog daring Jesus to keep making them miracle food.

[SPEAKER_00]: Then they try to use the Bible to manipulate him by saying, well, you know, it is written that our fathers ain't

[SPEAKER_00]: So Jesus said, oh, Brad from heaven, cool.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let me show you something, I'm really the bread from heaven.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what it means, even though you told me what it says and you completely misconstrued the two.

[SPEAKER_00]: So here's my question.

[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever used a Bible to justify an unhealthy view of money?

[SPEAKER_00]: have you ever used the Bible to justify an unhealthy view of money?

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's why.

[SPEAKER_00]: That question is important because we cannot spiritualize bad habits.

[SPEAKER_00]: And we cannot scripturalize, that's not a word, but I made it up.

[SPEAKER_00]: We cannot scripturalize financial ignorance.

[SPEAKER_00]: What you mean, Ralph, we cannot spiritualize bad habits.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's how a lot of people get manipulated in church when it comes to money.

[SPEAKER_00]: If I know that you are a bad steward and that you're highly emotional and you haven't regulated the connection between your emotions and your money, instead of teaching you how to not do that, I'm a play on that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And then, I'm gonna get a really nice stage.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna make sure I design it great.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna get some some great sound in music.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna come up and turn on my charisma on.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then, at the end of my message or right at the high point of my message, I'm gonna tell you something like, come solo $30 to see right now.

[SPEAKER_00]: And in 30 days, God is gonna wipe out all your debt.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I don't care how many $30 to see as you can put on anybody's altar.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you complete $30 on this altar right now, and you snott knows you can't, you running and you shouting, and then you go back and for the next 30 days, you don't live on a budget, and you spend more than you make, God is not going to miraculously play off your dead.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna be in worst game.

[SPEAKER_00]: We cannot spiritualize bad habits, and we cannot script you a lies for natural ignorance.

[SPEAKER_00]: What you mean, Ralph?

[SPEAKER_00]: If I don't really know how money works, I can't use the Bible to justify staying ignorant in this area, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I don't even know how I'm going to work because the Bible says, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And you may say what it says while I apply it with it means, the whole while you just use and scripture to cover up the fact that you don't know how to manage money.

[SPEAKER_00]: Instead of just being honest and saying, you know what?

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really know what to do with money because nobody ever taught me.

[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody sitting around me talks about money.

[SPEAKER_00]: And when we do, all we do is share myths and fear.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I haven't really been in a healthy environment where the conversation comes up and somebody's willing to sit down and teach me.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can't script your lives ignorance.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because the Scriptures do say, and all you're getting, get what church I'm standing.

[SPEAKER_00]: So my goal is to increase our understanding, really to increase our trust, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: Because if you understand, but your own trust is gonna be hard to do.

[SPEAKER_00]: As it relates to money, trust is so key.

[SPEAKER_00]: And my goal, three goals about the end of this series is to increase our trust in three areas, to increase our trust in God, to increase our trust in our sales,

[SPEAKER_00]: in this church, the way community church.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right, the dollar bill or our money has this motto on it.

[SPEAKER_00]: In God, we trust.

[SPEAKER_00]: That can't just be on the money.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's got to be in the heart of the person who has the money.

[SPEAKER_00]: My hope is, and then next month in the half, to help you trust God in a way you never have before.

[SPEAKER_00]: Also, the trust yourself.

[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of us don't trust ourselves with stuff, so we sabotage any resources we get in our hands.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because we have low confidence, there's based on ignorance, we sabotage our own progress.

[SPEAKER_00]: So no matter how much the law put in our hands, if I don't believe I know what to do with it and I'm gonna relate to it in fear, I'm gonna find a way to get this resource out of my life.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I can make the excuse that I need to lower the work of another miracle instead of being honest, that I don't really trust myself.

[SPEAKER_00]: To manage well.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then I want us to increase our trust in the way community church.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to know what we're doing with the money that you give to this church.

[SPEAKER_00]: On the first Sunday of November, if the Lord says the saying, I'm gonna lay out for you how this church is governed.

[SPEAKER_00]: I wanna explain how the ball-alls work in function.

[SPEAKER_00]: I wanna explain my role in this church and the limits and capacity of that role.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna show you pot charts of what we've done with the money in the first three years.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm gonna show you the vision of the ideal, I guess you could say pot chart or where we wanna be financially in the future.

[SPEAKER_00]: So that as you give your heart arm money to the way community church, you trust that we are managing it well.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so we've started the first two weeks.

[SPEAKER_00]: I started the first week with a message called is deeper than numbers.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the main goal there was to help us to appreciate that when it comes to money, money is more about trust and priorities than it is numbers.

[SPEAKER_00]: If we think that numbers are the issue, we miss that really trust and priorities on the issue.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because if you've got bad priorities, but good numbers, you still gonna end up in a financial bind.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you've got good priorities and bad numbers, you gonna always have enough.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you got good priorities and good numbers, shh.

[SPEAKER_00]: You rich.

[SPEAKER_00]: You free.

[SPEAKER_00]: Rich not being a dollar amount, rich being you free.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right, so it's deeper than numbers when it comes to money.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you think that your situation is, what it is, solely because of the numbers, then we've underestimated the power of trust and the power of priorities.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then the last week, Greg Kirkland stepped in.

[SPEAKER_00]: and he went to Philippians 413 and often miss a plight passage and helped us to see what that really meant in the spirit of, I can do all things who crossed some strengthens me.

[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't mean I can achieve all things.

[SPEAKER_00]: It means I can survive all things.

[SPEAKER_00]: I can be okay in any scenario here's why because I'm content.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that is an insides job that contentment is the prerequisite to true financial freedom.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because if I'm content, then it is well with my soul come and heal the high water.

[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what we've been and I'm grateful already that we've got testimonies coming back through text messages of how this series is blessing people.

[SPEAKER_00]: One person said that they've learned how to put needs over once.

[SPEAKER_00]: I look closely at what I want to make sure is not a spontaneous buy.

[SPEAKER_00]: Another person said, I've been learning to trust God more by surrendering my worries about how things will work out financially and focusing on being a good store with what I already have, not being led by emotions.

[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't write that, but that's my testimony too.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's another one, I like this one.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm learning to trust God with my husband being the provider.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're newlyweds and at over 50, I've always done everything myself.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, that's my husband's role is different, but good.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, we all feel this way.

[SPEAKER_00]: Our air conditioning unit went out last night.

[SPEAKER_00]: Woo!

[SPEAKER_00]: We pray for guidance and chose to use our savings instead of financing.

[SPEAKER_00]: It saved us interest and we're trusting God to replenish what we use God as our source.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the last one.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is going to make somebody shout.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm learning to ask before purchasing.

[SPEAKER_00]: I ask regarding an item this week and ended up finding it for $60 list.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so, God, somebody like Hazel, if you marry your spouse, but that's a whole not the conversation for a whole not the conversation.

[SPEAKER_00]: Stay focused.

[SPEAKER_00]: But, as God, Lord, should I buy this?

[SPEAKER_00]: Lord, do I need this?

[SPEAKER_00]: And end up getting it for $60 or a nest.

[SPEAKER_00]: My prayers that the Lord bless us abundantly.

[SPEAKER_00]: But my belief is, is if we grow in our trust, then God will bless us abundantly.

[SPEAKER_00]: So here's the disclaimer for today.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna give you a few things to Bible then say about money, and I'm telling you what's fine.

[SPEAKER_00]: Today's message is probably gonna miss with some of your deeply held beliefs about money.

[SPEAKER_00]: I made touch on something that you really believe and that I made me finish show you, that's not what the Bible said.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you may get out of to about it, but I'm telling you upfront, so you're attitude won't catch you off guard.

[SPEAKER_00]: Am I doing it just a message or no?

[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm doing it because I believe before we can change our relationship to money, we must first address our beliefs about money.

[SPEAKER_00]: And many of us have misused the Bible to give us unhealthy and untrue beliefs about money.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to give you four things that the Bible did not say.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the first thing that the Bible did not say that money is evil.

[SPEAKER_00]: The Bible didn't say that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Matter of fact, the verse that we mainly get that from is first Timothy chapter 6 verse number 10.

1 Timothy 6 · chapter mention

[SPEAKER_00]: It says, for the love of money, is a root of all sorts of evil.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then Greg gave us these verses last week.

[SPEAKER_00]: Look at the enthusiastic five verse number 10.

[SPEAKER_00]: It says, one who loves money would not be satisfied with money, no one who loves abundance with this income.

[SPEAKER_00]: Look at Hebrews 13 verse number five.

[SPEAKER_00]: Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being what church content.

[SPEAKER_00]: What do you see that?

[SPEAKER_00]: The Bible never said money was evil, but the Bible said multiple times that the love of money is the input from which evil of all sorts is the output.

[SPEAKER_00]: Why is that important?

[SPEAKER_00]: Because money is neither good nor evil.

[SPEAKER_00]: Money is a moly.

[SPEAKER_00]: What do you mean a moly?

[SPEAKER_00]: Money doesn't have molys.

[SPEAKER_00]: Money doesn't have instinct, money can't make decisions, money doesn't have a wheel or emotions, money is neither good nor evil, money is a moral.

[SPEAKER_00]: That means that money does, whatever the person who controls it, tells it to do.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, Ram, money not evil?

[SPEAKER_00]: No, money's not evil.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's how I know, because Jesus has some money.

[SPEAKER_00]: And Jesus, don't mess with evil.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus and evil don't go together.

[SPEAKER_00]: But Jesus had money, matter of fact, Jesus had had so much money that he needed one of his disciples to hold a money for the group.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus used money to pay for stuff and to pay taxes because he understood money was a part of the economy and the system he lived in.

[SPEAKER_00]: So he had one of the disciples who hold the money.

[SPEAKER_00]: And guess who was the disciple who was holding the money?

[SPEAKER_00]: Judas.

[SPEAKER_00]: Look at what this verse says about Judas.

[SPEAKER_00]: John 12, it says, but Judas is scary.

[SPEAKER_00]: One of his disciples, the one who intended to betray him, said, why was this perfume not sold for 300 de Nara?

[SPEAKER_00]: $300,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,

[SPEAKER_00]: And as he kept the money box, he used to steal from what was put into it.

[SPEAKER_00]: He talking about the poor, but not because he cared about the poor.

[SPEAKER_00]: You got to be very careful when certain leaders you certain rhetoric.

[SPEAKER_00]: You got to understand that they are not saying this because they care about the poor, but because they are thieves who intend to scam off the top before people who really need it get it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all picking up what I'm putting down.

[SPEAKER_00]: Money is not evil, because Jesus had money.

[SPEAKER_00]: The issue was not money, because Jesus had money.

[SPEAKER_00]: The issue was money had Judas.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's the issue.

[SPEAKER_00]: Judas betrays Jesus so easily.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's so willing to commit that evil.

[SPEAKER_00]: because he loved money.

[SPEAKER_00]: And guess what Judas got offered for rolling over on Jesus?

[SPEAKER_00]: Money, 30 pieces of silver.

[SPEAKER_00]: They said, hey, we need you to write on your boy.

[SPEAKER_00]: We need you to point him out.

[SPEAKER_00]: He said, what y'all gonna give me?

[SPEAKER_00]: They counted out for him, 30 pieces of silver.

[SPEAKER_00]: He got money because he loved it to create and cause that evil.

[SPEAKER_00]: So when we go back to the verse that's often been mis-applied, first Timothy chapter six, verse number 10, let's look at it in the amplifier.

[SPEAKER_00]: In the amplifier, first Timothy, 16, and the amplifier says, for the love of money, that is the greedy desire for it.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the willingness to gain it unethically is a root of all sorts of evil.

[SPEAKER_00]: And some, by longing for it, have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves through and through with many sorrows.

[SPEAKER_00]: same verse, messes version.

[SPEAKER_00]: It says, lust for money, brings trouble and nothing but trouble.

[SPEAKER_00]: Going down that path, some lose their footing in the faith completely and live to regret it bitterly ever after.

[SPEAKER_00]: So the Bible didn't say that money is evil.

[SPEAKER_00]: The Bible said the love of money is the root or cause of evil.

[SPEAKER_00]: And what the Bible means by that, is if you love money more than God and people, you will be far from God and you will miscreate people.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because money is a good tool, but it's a terrible God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Think about all the evil that's happened in the world because somebody love money more than God and people.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right, when you want to see whose hands it's behind some evil, follow the money.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's untold evil.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's happening in this world and it's happening right now for once and for fat.

[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody somewhere loves money more than God and people.

[SPEAKER_00]: So the Bible didn't say that money is evil, but number two, the Bible didn't say more money, more problems.

[SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hm, the Bible didn't say that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, the Bible didn't say that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Some of us have been justified not getting the race because more money more problems.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, the Bible didn't say that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's what the Bible said.

[SPEAKER_00]: It clearly asked these 10, verse number 19.

[SPEAKER_00]: It says, people prepare a meal for enjoyment.

[SPEAKER_00]: Wine makes life joyful.

[SPEAKER_00]: And what church money is the...

[SPEAKER_00]: My Bible said it's a good food, drink a little wine and make a little money.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's almost like you're saying the opposite, not more money, more problems, it's almost like the Bible saying more money, less problems, practically speaking.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, in order to put this verse in context, let's read the verse before it.

[SPEAKER_00]: All right, please ask these 10 to give verse 18.

[SPEAKER_00]: It says, through extreme laziness, the raptors sag and through eyedowness, the house leaks.

[SPEAKER_00]: People prepare meal for enjoyment, while I'm makes life joyful, money is answered everything.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's almost like the writer is saying, either extreme is not God's best for you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right, if you rest too much, that's laziness.

[SPEAKER_00]: And if you lazy, your house is gonna say it, because you're not a good steward over what you have in your hand.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you I don't, your house is gonna start leaking, because you only even lift your finger to pass the roof.

[SPEAKER_00]: But if you make enough money, you can have a little fool, you can have a little mind, and you can have a little money, and that'll, and you will be good, practically.

[SPEAKER_00]: But too much food is gluttony, too much wine is drunkenness and a desire for too much money is greed.

[SPEAKER_00]: Stay away from either extreme, but don't spiritualize yourself out of abundance.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, okay, Ralph, if the Bob and I say more money, my problems, where we get that from?

[SPEAKER_00]: B-I-G-P-O-P-P-A, no info for the D-D-A federal agent's Mac, oh, sorry, I'm sorry, let me stop.

[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all like what him is that?

[SPEAKER_00]: What him is that?

[SPEAKER_00]: That is not a him.

[SPEAKER_00]: That is not a hymn, that is hip hop.

[SPEAKER_00]: Natoria's B.I.G.

[SPEAKER_00]: and M.A.S.

[SPEAKER_00]: and Puffy, with Kelly Price resenging Diana Rossi's, I'm coming out.

[SPEAKER_00]: Kelly Price put down the vocal on that song, and they flipped it, sampled it, turned it into a hit.

[SPEAKER_00]: And ever since that drop, we all been saying, M.O.

[SPEAKER_00]: Money, M.O.

[SPEAKER_00]: Brogan.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the Bible never said more money, more problems.

[SPEAKER_00]: The only way more money creates more problems is if I didn't deal with my problems, when I ain't having a money.

[SPEAKER_00]: The only way more money creates more problems is if money was my God, even when I was broke.

[SPEAKER_00]: If money takes over number one in my heart, then it creates more problems, but just having more money don't automatically create more problems.

[SPEAKER_00]: So the question is, how can I keep more money from creating more problems by putting the lower first in my heart and keeping him there now?

[SPEAKER_00]: By developing wise financial stewardship habits, now.

[SPEAKER_00]: by increasing my capacity to manage money well through learning relationships and asking the whole to spear for wisdom.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, because money don't create problems, money reveals problems.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you got character issues when you broke, all you gonna have when you get money is to freedom for nobody to check you about the stuff you know was wrong when you was broke.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you treat people wrong when you broke, all money going to make you think you can do, it's treat people wrong then, buy them off.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you nasty an arrogant when you broke, all money going to make you think is, because you own a bad day instead of a toilet, that's your stuffed-on state.

[SPEAKER_00]: Money don't create problems, problems come from other places, and when we don't deal with problems, money exposes it.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a three, the Boba never said we're guaranteed health and prosperity.

[SPEAKER_00]: The Bible never said that.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I want to make this point clear because the prosperity gospel has ravaged the American church.

[SPEAKER_00]: If we got trust issues with money in church, it's probably because of the prosperity gospel.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you have been in the church and they warn you out about money and you told yourself, I ain't never going back to another church.

[SPEAKER_00]: I ain't never joining another church and I ain't never giving no money in another church.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't blame you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because the prosperity gospel is no gospel at all.

[SPEAKER_00]: The prosperity gospel takes with the Bible said to make it mean with the Bible never meant.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then manipulates people who have legitimate needs, but can't discern, pass the eloquence of the presenter, choose from a lot.

[SPEAKER_00]: Then they put the onus on you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Then if it works for you, it's because your faith was enough.

[SPEAKER_00]: If it don't work for you, because your faith wasn't enough.

[SPEAKER_00]: So then you depress when it don't work, because you think your faith ain't enough.

[SPEAKER_00]: So what verse is one of the most popular verses of Prosperator Gospel, third John, chapter one verse number two, look at what it says.

[SPEAKER_00]: Beloved, I pray that in all respects, you may prosper and be in good health just as your soul prosperous.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's a powerful verse.

[SPEAKER_00]: I love Dahlah, I make me feel just a reading.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I can tell you this, that is not a blanket promise for every believer that you will just prosper and be in good health.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's not, let's read this verse in his context.

[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's read verses one through five.

[SPEAKER_00]: The elder to the beloved Ganges.

[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, this is a private letter from a spiritual leader to a mentee.

[SPEAKER_00]: And in this private letter, the elder is writing to a man and gayess says, who my love and what church, truth, um, beloved, I pray that in our respect you may prosper and being good health just as your soul prosper.

[SPEAKER_00]: For I was overjoyed when brothers came and testified to your what church, truth, that is how you are walking in what church, truth.

[SPEAKER_00]: I have no greater joy than this to hear my children walking

[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, my five says, but love it, you are acting faithfully.

[SPEAKER_00]: What's happening?

[SPEAKER_00]: This is a private letter between a pastor and a mentee, who hears about the spiritual fruit from someone that they've been mentoring.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he is so proud that he says, I'm so grateful that you've been walking in the truth and you've been prospering spiritually.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so happy to hear about how you are managing and how you're doing, I'm just asked God to bless your whole life just like God has already blessed your spiritual life.

[SPEAKER_00]: That is not a blanket promise for everybody who reads it that you're going to always be rich.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you ain't going to never have a toothache.

[SPEAKER_00]: What it means is I rejoice most that your soul is prospering.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I pray that your prosperity may also include every other part of your life.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a request to God for one person.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, is it wrong for us to read that and desire?

[SPEAKER_00]: No, it is wrong for us to read that and assume it's a blanket promise.

[SPEAKER_00]: Cause then what happens is we get mad at God when the $30 C didn't wipe out all our dead in 30 days.

[SPEAKER_00]: Am I preaching?

[SPEAKER_00]: Right?

[SPEAKER_00]: Or, or, or, what if we get sick?

[SPEAKER_00]: And we pray and ask God to heal us and we ask God, pass it to come pray for us.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the Lord don't heal us.

[SPEAKER_00]: All of a sudden, all we not loved, all we not prospering spiritually.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's easy to preach.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's fun to hear, but it's hard to apply.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because the only way to prosperity, gospel works is if everything is working.

[SPEAKER_00]: As soon as one thing is not working, the prosperity, the gospel is not working.

[SPEAKER_00]: The prosperity, God's only work, when everything going good.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then you get a flat tire.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a believer.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not supposed to get flat tires in Jesus name.

[SPEAKER_00]: In Jesus name.

[SPEAKER_00]: In Jesus name.

[SPEAKER_00]: In Jesus name.

[SPEAKER_00]: In the Holy Spirit like, if you don't get out and get a jack and a crowbar, if you don't call a AAA, you don't want to get run flat tires to begin with.

[SPEAKER_00]: What happens when you need to start hurting randomly?

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I'ma be in good health and problems with you, that must've all happened.

[SPEAKER_00]: If it might be some undeniable on that.

[SPEAKER_00]: The Bible never guaranteed us perfect health and prosperity.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's not the good news, but can I tell you the promise of the true gospel?

[SPEAKER_00]: While Jesus came to give His life and get up from the grave, the promise of the true gospel is that we have the hope of unbroken and increasing eternal fellowship with the father through the Son by the Spirit.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's the gospel.

[SPEAKER_00]: What you're making right is the real hope of being saved is not that my pocket's gonna be full and I'm always healthy.

[SPEAKER_00]: The real hope of being saved is that I'm gonna be reconnected in relationship to the God of the universe, a relationship that can never be broken and from the moment I profess my faith in Jesus for the rest of eternity, that fellowship is gonna grow in intensity and intimacy, and it's gonna bless every area of my life, because I know God and God know me too.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's an anybody who can testify forever.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now God is better than money.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's the true gospel that no matter what our face, nothing can break my fellowship.

[SPEAKER_00]: What shall separate me from the love of God?

[SPEAKER_00]: Who gonna clot me out his hand?

[SPEAKER_00]: It says, make sure that your character is free from the love of money.

[SPEAKER_00]: Being content with what you have, watch arch for he, himself, has said, I will never desert you.

[SPEAKER_00]: I will never abandon you.

[SPEAKER_00]: No matter what you face, no matter where you are, I'll never desert you never abandon you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if you get a flat tire on the side of the road, you gotta call Triple A, but you know who's gonna be there waiting with you until Triple A get there, me!

[SPEAKER_00]: I'd rather have a good name than money and favor than silver and gold, what's favor?

[SPEAKER_00]: Favor is how people treat you based upon what they think about you when they hear your name.

[SPEAKER_00]: You got a pick line, because whichever one you put first is going to put everything else in your life after it, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So the Bible then said, I rather have Jesus, then silver and gold, really what the Bible means is, I'd rather have Jesus then silver and gold.

[SPEAKER_00]: What are your thoughts about money and where did you get it from?

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the last question, and how have those beliefs helped or hurt you financially?

[SPEAKER_00]: And I want you to be very careful not to spiritualize bad habits.

[SPEAKER_00]: Don't script you a lies, ignorant.

[SPEAKER_00]: Don't throw the Bible at at something you could just read another book to get some wisdom on.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the Bible is full of wisdom, all money, which we'll get to in the next couple weeks.

[SPEAKER_00]: Don't use the Bible as an excuse to stay financially ignorant.

[SPEAKER_00]: Challenge your beliefs and ask yourself whether I get it from.
