Kathy Walls - Inner Healing and Forgiveness from God's Word - Communion, February 8, 2026

I'd like to read from Psalm 19.

This is for communion this morning.

And it's from the Passion Version.

So they use Yahweh instead of God.

So I'll just read it and then we'll see how we go.

If you want to just rest in your seat and you want to just thank you.

Shut your eyes, please feel free to do so and just let the word wash over you.

Yahweh's word is perfect in every way.

How it revives our souls.

Yahweh's laws lead us into truth.

And his ways change the simple into wise.

Yahweh's teachings are right and make us joyful.

His precepts are so pure.

Yahweh's commands challenge us to keep close to his heart.

The revelation light of his word makes my spirit shine radiant.

Yahweh's decrees are trustworthy.

The fear of Yahweh is pure, enduring forever.

The rarest treasures of life are found in his truth.

That's why God's word is prized like others' prize finest gold.

Sweeter also than honey are his living words, sweet words dripping from the honeycomb.

For they warn us your servants and keep us from following the wicked way, giving us a lifetime guarantee.

Great success to every obedient soul.

How would I discern the waywardness of my heart?

Lord, forgive my hidden flaws wherever you find them.

Keep cleansing me, God, and keep me from my secret selfish sins.

May they never rule over me, for only then will I be free from fault and remain innocent of rebellion.

So may the words of my mouth and my meditation thoughts and every movement of my heart be always pure and pleasing and acceptable before your eyes, Yahweh, my only redeemer and my protector.

So David is pouring out his heart to God.

And some he also wrote, Psalm 51, Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

Cast me not away from your presence and take not your Holy Spirit from me.

So David recognized that only God and his words had the power to keep him on track and to keep his life aligned with God's will and plan and purpose.

David recognized his need to keep his heart and mind clean and his motives pure.

He recognized it wasn't something he could do by himself.

It was something he needed God's help with on a daily basis.

Psalm 139, another psalm of David, says, Search me, O God, and know my thoughts and try me and see if there be any wicked way within me.

A dear friend and mentor of mine always told me to start my prayer time with the Psalm 51 prayer, which was, Create in me a clean heart, O God, and show me if there's anything within my own heart that I need to repent of or get right before I enter into prayer for somebody else.

It's often easier, I find, to see the sin in other people than sometimes in my own heart.

Our own judgments and our own upbringing or our background or experiences can cloud God's perspective on a person or a situation.

Peter and I years ago met a man called Harold Dubry who had a very inner healing ministry to people who were alcoholics and schizophrenics and all the people that were rejected, probably by the mainstream mental health.

And he was a reformed alcoholic himself.

But he always said, before I will counsel or see someone, I will, if I've got, I won't see them until I get the judgments or preconceived ideas I have about that person out of my life, so I can be a completely free channel for the Holy Spirit to drop in what he wants to say to that person.

And I thought that was very good advice.

The book of James also says that God's word is like a mirror, reflecting our thoughts and intentions and motives.

So just like a mirror reveals our physical appearance, as we read God's word, he gives us insight and a reflection into our inner spiritual life and our character.

Warren would know this very well, but there's a big link between inner healing and forgiveness.

And one of the biggest blocks in healing can be unforgiveness.

And I was reading an article, so I'd just like to share a little bit of it.

It was from Mark 11, 23 to 25, and the fellow who wrote the article was a faith minister, and he was talking about his own life, but he'd seen many ministries start with very strong faith, but then fail or stumble and fall.

And he wondered where what was going on, and he was inquiring of the law.

And so he was talking about after the faith, the great, it's a well-known scripture that says, you know, if you have faith, speak to this mountain, it will be thrown into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart he will have what he says.

But then the next verse is verse 25, and it says, If you and when you stand praying, if you have anything in your heart against anyone, forgive.

Um, yeah.

So just looking at that unforgiveness and forgiveness, I'll just read this little bit of an article because it spoke to me.

And he was wondering and asking God these questions.

And this is God's answer to him.

He said, son, it's not the$10 million debt in the parable of the unforgiving servant that the servant failed to forgive.

It was the$20 debt.

Forgiving big trespasses isn't usually where you get tripped up.

Most of the time it's the little 15 cents offences that are giving my people trouble.

When I asked him to help me see exactly what he meant, he gave me a vision.

And in it I saw a pipe several feet long and about five inches in diameter.

It was tilted over a man's head at a 45 degree angle, and water was gushing into the upper end of it.

The lower end was about ten inches from the man's face.

He was peering into it looking for the water, but all that was coming out was a fine mist.

It was spraying out of a tiny hole in the centre of the pipe, hitting the man in the face with just enough water to make him man.

He said the pipe is your reborn human spirit.

I am pouring out my power into it, but not much of it is getting back through.

I'm not the one holding it back.

You are.

Over a period of time you've let little fifteen cent and twenty dollar offences, a little discord here, a little judgment there, a little resentment there get into the pipe.

Because you weren't spiritually aware enough to stop it from happening, you've clogged up your spirit until my power does not have the freedom to flow through you.

You are too full of unforgiveness and aggravation towards people whom you've never purposely taken the time to forgive.

So that spoke to me, and I know when I went to prayer after that time, I did it not so much as just the routine, Lord, you know, we can sometimes just say, Lord, I choose to forgive this person or this situation or whatever.

But I, yeah, I think I did it with a greater desire to recognize that I didn't want anything clogging up my relationship with God.

I didn't want anything, impurity or anything to be affecting my pre-life or my relationship with God.

I wanted it out of the way, I wanted it washed away and to walk clean and pure before God.

So as we take communion today, or if you find it easier to reflect on your heart before God at home or in private one-on-one, but I'm just thinking maybe we can just reflect and ask God to search our hearts and if there is any situation, person, or circumstance, little or big.

And it can be a look, it could be a word, it could be being overlooked, it could be any number of things that we ask God to help us to forgive.
