  3. from our 11 a.m. Sunday service.

  4. We are glad that you have joined us digitally, but would love to

  5. see you in person on Sunday mornings at either 9 a.m. or 11

  6. a.m. Now, let's open God's word and

  7. ask him to reveal his Truth for our lives.

  8. We mean if you have your Bibles, turn the First Corinthian letter

  9. in chapter 11 as we will be looking at a message this

  10. morning, a coal to remember call to remember and I want us to

  11. look at that because it's a very serious call.

  12. In fact, it is a call that the lord gave in Matthew's gospel.

  13. And Paul is going to reiterate to the church here.

  14. In his First Corinthian letter here in chapter 11 verses 23 all

  15. the way to 32 This is a coal to remember in a coal to remember.

  16. The specifics of what the Lord Jesus did for us as Paul uses

  17. the term and quoting. The Lord do this.

  18. In remembrance of me that word remembrance is a very important

  19. word that I want us to focus on a lot this morning, do this in

  20. remembrance of me, what exactly does remembrance mean, it's more

  21. than just remembering where you parked your car, where you left

  22. your keys, we're going to see that that word Remembrance in

  23. the Greek. Is it very powerful word on an

  24. Asus and on an Asus means this it means an affectionate call to

  25. remembrance. It's to remember something in an

  26. affectionate manner something that you are attached to

  27. something that is etched into the fiber of your being and we

  28. know how this works, we know the power of a memory and those

  29. lasting memories that we have in life and those memories, we know

  30. can both be positive. As well as negative.

  31. We know that we know that trauma or abuse or traumatic events and

  32. causes to have lasting negative emotions, we know people who

  33. were in combat and suffer from PTSD, we've been through

  34. traumatic times who suffer with the same because those memories

  35. are etched in the depths of their being.

  36. Those memories are not only - as we look at those affectionate

  37. memories, those those memories can also be positive.

  38. I hope that their positive such as the first time you kiss your

  39. spouse. I hope that's a positive memory.

  40. That is etched into your mind. I know mine.

  41. Is that first dance that you had with them, but that wedding day

  42. or that wedding night Those things that have been engrafted

  43. into the depth of your soul, the birth of a child, I can go back

  44. and remember exactly what was going on in the day.

  45. My children were born, I can close my eyes and I can vividly

  46. see that memory As well as those memorable vacations.

  47. And trips those times where you were able to get away, and God

  48. showed you, something that you've never seen.

  49. During that time of relaxation, Recreation, those special times

  50. again. Carved into your mind.

  51. This is what the Apostle is talking about in referencing,

  52. Jesus. Actually, this is what Jesus was

  53. talking about when he and Matthew said, do this in

  54. remembrance of me, you saying, go back and grab And

  55. affectionate memory that, you know, to be true.

  56. The instructions disciples to do this and through the course of

  57. time here, all is in the First Corinthian.

  58. Letter addressing the Corinthian Church because they have gotten

  59. some things out of order. They had forgotten what the Lord

  60. suffers truly all about. And as we prepare our hearts to

  61. observe the Lord's, Supper this morning in a call to remember

  62. Christ and what all he's done, I pray that we would not fall into

  63. the error of the Corinthians who make this into something that

  64. it's not But that we would concentrate on what the Lord

  65. says that it is in the Lord says that this is a time of

  66. remembrance and a time of affectionate remembrance of him

  67. who he is. What he has done he accomplished

  68. through his death, his burial, his resurrection his Ascension

  69. and what he will accomplish when he returns it.

  70. So, First Corinthians chapter 11, let's read it together.

    1 Corinthians 11 chapter mention

  71. We'll start at verse 23 and as I said, we'll read all the way to

  72. 32 and then we'll discuss this text in detail.

  73. Verse 23 says, for I received from the Lord, what I also

  74. passed on to you. This is the Apostle Paul

  75. writing. The Corinthian Church saying

  76. this is instruction straight from the Lord.

  77. The Lord Jesus on the night, he was betrayed took bread.

  78. And when he had given thanks, he broke it.

  79. And said, this is my body, which is for you.

  80. Do this in remembrance of me in the same way.

  81. After supper, he took the cup saying this cup is the New

  82. Covenant in my blood. Do this whenever you drink it in

  83. remembrance. Remembrance of me whenever you

  84. drink or excuse me, you eat this bread and drink this cup, you

  85. proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.

  86. Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the

  87. Lord. In an unworthy manner will be

  88. guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord verse

  89. 28. He says, a man ought to examine

  90. himself before he eats of the bread and drink of the cup.

  91. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of

  92. the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.

  93. That is why many among you are weak and sick.

  94. And a number of you have fallen asleep.

  95. He's talking about death to the believer.

  96. They have fallen asleep. In fact, God has executed his

  97. discipline on their life in the form of removing them from the

  98. world. But if we judge ourselves, we

  99. would not come under judgment when we are judged by the Lord,

  100. we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with

  101. the world for all of you. So that's pretty harsh that the

  102. Lord would discipline them through sickness and illness and

  103. even death. It beats Eternal judgment, he's

  104. reminding them of that. We know that the writer of

  105. Hebrews tells us is that whom the Lord loves he chastens.

  106. He chastens with the rod. In fact, he goes on to say this,

  107. that if you were without chastening, your illegitimate

  108. isn't what the Apostle Paul is reminding, the Church of are the

  109. instructions that he received concerning the Lord's, supper,

  110. and how this ought to be observed.

  111. And what the purpose of it is as we look at this, as I've already

  112. said that word, remembrance off the jump out at us that word

  113. remembrance, that affectionate recollection of the truths that

  114. we know surrounding Jesus. I stand, that's what I want to

  115. look at today, is called breaks, this down for us, in verse 24.

  116. He speaks of the first point that we are going to look at

  117. that. We should in this time of

  118. remembrance, remember first, the Advent of Christ, the Advent of

  119. Christ. So we see the Advent of Christ,

  120. remembered verse 24. He tells us, he said, and when

  121. he had given thanks, he broke it.

  122. And speaking of the bread, this is my body which is for you.

  123. Do this in remembrance of me, it's very important that we

  124. understand what he was saying, when he was referencing the body

  125. of Christ, he is referencing the actual literal, Advent of the

  126. god, man, the Lord Jesus Christ, who was fully God, and fully

  127. man. And we must remember the body of

  128. Jesus Christ because it is the body of Jesus Christ, that was

  129. broken. And that was crushed in our

  130. stead in our place as a substitute For us, we remember

  131. and observing the Lord's Supper this body to its full degree.

  132. The fact that Jesus truly was a real man.

  133. Oftentimes, we forget that. Don't we like to think of Jesus

  134. as some mystical historical character who wasn't a real man?

  135. Can I tell you this? That's that, that's heresy.

  136. And that's not biblical at all. The fact is that Jesus Christ.

  137. As we have already learned, as we've been going through the

  138. Gospel of John truly Is God incarnate who came to this

  139. earth? We know John tells us that he

  140. came to this earth and he dwelt among us and we must recognize

  141. this morning in observing the Lord's Supper The Advent of

  142. Christ and that should be remembered his bodily.

  143. Incarnation very important that God, the son literally came to

  144. this Earth as a man. It came to this Earth as a man

  145. and it's important that we understand that.

  146. So that we understand when his flesh was ripped from his back,

  147. with the cat of nine tails, he felt the pain.

  148. When the nails were driven into his hand into his feet, he felt

  149. the pain when his beard was ripped from his face.

  150. He felt every ounce of That was associated with those things, as

  151. that Crown of Thorns was placed deep into his skull, he felt the

  152. pain, he felt the agony, he felt the suffering, it's important

  153. that we understand that because all of that pain, and all of

  154. that Agony, and all of that suffering, belonged to us.

  155. But it was in his body that he bore the weight in the crushing.

  156. Blow of sin for us as our substitute there on the cross.

  157. We must recognize his bodily Incarnation.

  158. The fact that he truly was the god man.

  159. Was the second part of the trinity.

  160. Come down to this earth. Clothed in humanity.

  161. The rescue Sinners Like Me. Sinners like you is what the

  162. word of God says about his body. Colossians chapter 1.

    Colossians 1 chapter mention

  163. Verse 22 says, but now he has reconciled You by Christ's

  164. physical body through death to present you, holy in his sight

  165. without blemish and free from accusation.

  166. How many of you think we'll for the physical body of Jesus

  167. Christ who has reconciled you to God?

  168. The father was his physical body, that had to take place

  169. Colossians 2:9, Apostle Paul reiterates that again, he says,

    Colossians 2:9

  170. for in Christ, all the fullness of the deity lives in bodily

  171. form. Many people say this, why does

  172. that matter? Why does it matter?

  173. That Hebrews tells us that his body was that curtain that was

  174. torn or open. That that Veil that we see torn

  175. there in Jerusalem was just a picture of his true body.

  176. That was torn for us that Veil. Hebrews 10:19 says therefore

    Hebrews 10:19

  177. Brothers since we have confidence to enter the most

  178. holy place by the blood of Jesus by a New and Living Way open for

  179. us through the curtain, that is his body.

  180. It is the body of Christ, in the crushing of that body, as Isaiah

  181. proclaimed, it and prophesied, that it would come.

  182. It, is that body that was crushed that allows us in.

  183. To the holy of holies into fellowship with almighty God,

  184. the father is his bodily Incarnation and how important

  185. that is. It's important that we

  186. understand that so that we have a grasp on what we are.

  187. Remembering this morning, also that bodily, incarnation of

  188. Christ, his Advent, it actually, debunks heresy called docetism.

  189. And this heresy says, this is heresy, which was an early

  190. heresy in the church that stem from gnosticism and I, I noticed

  191. some of you say that's boring stuff, it's not boring, it's

  192. important the church begins to realize the importance of

  193. calling out false Doctrine so that they can stay true to

  194. biblical Doctrine the churches in going to grow to the capacity

  195. that the Lord desires that he grows, but this heresy of

  196. docetism. Here's what it said.

  197. It said that Jesus was just kind of a mystical form of a human

  198. more of a Phantasm. For an illusion so that you can

  199. understand it. Any Star Wars fans here today,

  200. he was like quagga why Gan Jin after Darth Maul took care of

  201. it, right? He was just that Phantom, that

  202. was there. He wasn't really human, he

  203. wasn't really a man. He was just some type of

  204. mystical Phantom. Illusion this of course is

  205. heresy. In fact, John addresses it, as

  206. it began to pop up even as early as John's Ministry in first John

  207. his first epistle, John says, this in chapter 4 verse 1.

  208. He says dear friends, do not believe every Spirit but test

  209. the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false

  210. prophets have gone out into the world.

  211. And this is how you can recognize the spirit of God.

  212. Every spirit, that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in

  213. the flesh. Is from God.

  214. So please understand is anybody who says that Jesus did not come

  215. in the flesh, that he truly was not fully God and fully man.

  216. Anyone who says that he was not in bodily form incarnated as the

  217. Son of God, Jesus Christ. The lord.

  218. Anyone who says that is a heretic says, are not of God,

  219. but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from

  220. God, this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard

  221. is coming, and even now is The in the world, John addresses

  222. this in his first epistle, but he doesn't stop there in his

  223. Second Epistle. He addresses it again and second

    2 John 1:7

  224. John chapter 1 verse 7. He says this many deceivers who

  225. do not acknowledge Jesus Christ, as coming in the flesh, have

  226. gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver

  227. and the Antichrist. He says, you better understand

  228. that there is an importance to seeing the bodily incarnation of

  229. Jesus Christ and we must never forget that he truly came.

  230. Mmmmm. As the God man, if he would have

  231. come as anything else, his body could not have been crushed the

  232. lashes that belong to us. Could not have been given the

  233. brutality that he faced because of our sin could not have been

  234. placed on him and taken away from us.

  235. It is important that we see that Christ's Advent.

  236. The fact that he came as a man is what SEALs the deal of our

  237. redemption. In fact could not have redeemed

  238. Us in any other way, he came As a perfect man.

  239. Born under the law. Born of a virgin to redeem.

  240. Sinners Like You Sinners Like Me.

  241. You see the importance? And we must remember the

  242. importance of his bodily Incarnation.

  243. Not only that when we talk about the Advent of Christ, we must

  244. also remember his bodily instructions, what he taught,

  245. why he was here. The fact that God the son as a

  246. human Walk this Earth for three and a half years ministering to

  247. people performing Miracles and teaching his disciples things

  248. that John himself said this. He said if I wrote down all the

  249. things the Lord taught me, the world could not handle the

  250. volumes of books. And so, the Lord really came in

  251. bodily form and he came in bodily form to teach his

  252. disciples, how they are to live. As an example, he laid out the

  253. instructions for our lives. God the son literally, Taught

  254. his followers, grace and truth. Remember what John's gospel

  255. said? As we looked at the first

  256. chapter of John several weeks ago, he said this in verse 14,

  257. he said the word became flesh and made his dwelling among us,

  258. we have seen his glory. It seen his glory, the glory of

  259. the one, and only who came from the father watches full of grace

  260. and truth. Jesus Christ came to this earth,

  261. to teach us of Grace and Truth. Why?

  262. Because we know John says the same thing, he Says this, that

  263. the law came through Moses but Grace and Truth came through

  264. Jesus Christ. And it's important that we

  265. remember his bodily instructions that when he was here, he taught

  266. things, worthy of us paying attention to He gave

  267. instructions, we have the gospel accounts of those instructions,

  268. his life that he lived, the things that he accomplished

  269. while he was here, and then we see this.

  270. We've seen his bodily Incarnation must be remembered

  271. his bodily instructions. As we remember the Advent of

  272. Christ, But how about his bodily infliction that God the son was

  273. literally inflicted in his body with our suffering.

  274. In our pain because of our sin. He was sinless and deserve no

  275. punishment for sin, but he was inflicted with sin and the

  276. Judgment that belonged to Kirk Hall was placed upon him.

  277. My sin. Your sin.

  278. If we were to be honest, my sin, your sin inflicted the suffering

  279. that Christ. Endured in fact, first Peter,

  280. Peter says this in Chapter 2, he says he himself bore our sins in

  281. his body on the tree so that we might die to sins and live for

  282. righteousness by his wounds. You have been healed.

  283. Peter borrows from Isaiah and that great passage in Isaiah.

  284. And he says, by his wounds, you have been healed.

  285. Can I say this had Christ not come.

  286. His first Advent and bodily form.

  287. His body, could not have bore our sins on that tree.

  288. He could not have died for our sins at Calvary and we could not

  289. live for righteousness and we could not receive the promise of

  290. the fact that our wounds, our infirmities have been healed in

  291. Christ. Aren't you thankful today?

  292. That Jesus came as a man to this earth and he came as a man to

  293. this earth. Earth to die for Sinners of

  294. which I am. As Paul said the worse, aren't

  295. you thankful for the body of Christ?

  296. Remember the Advent of Christ as we observe his body and just a

  297. moment and in doing so in doing. So we affectionately connect our

  298. self in remembrance of who he is and what he did for us as he was

  299. crushed in body. The second thing that we see as

  300. we read on, In this passage verse 25, It says this moving to

  301. the copy center in the same way. After supper, he took the cup

  302. saying this cup is the New Covenant.

  303. In my blood. Do this, whenever you drink it,

  304. here's this phrase. Again, in remembrance of me,

  305. just as we have remembered the importance of the Advent of

  306. Jesus Christ. I want us to also see that Paul

  307. is instructing us from the Lord's instruction, to also

  308. remember the atonement of Christ.

  309. So we see the atonement. Amount of Christ remembered

  310. there that his blood. Sacrifice of atonement is what

  311. has cleansed us from our deepest darkest sin.

  312. By remembering is atonement. Got to move us to remember some

  313. things that surround His atonement.

  314. First thing is this his blood of redemption, his blood of

  315. redemption, it is by his blood that we have been redeemed.

  316. In fact, Ephesians chapter 1 verse 7.

    Ephesians 1:7

  317. It says in him, we have Redemption through his blood,

  318. the forgiveness of sin sins in accordance with the riches of

  319. God's grace. who here today is thankful for the blood of Jesus

  320. Christ, that brings us Redemption according to the

  321. grace of God first Peter 1:18 says for, you know, that it was

    1 Peter 1:18

  322. not with perishable things, such as silver or gold that you were

  323. redeemed from the empty, way of life handed down to you, from

  324. your, forefathers wasn't from perishable things, or silver or

  325. gold And has redeemed you but in 19 says, but with the precious

  326. blood of Christ, the precious blood of Christ and why was that

  327. blood? So precious because it was pure,

  328. it was perfect. It was wholly, it was the

  329. Fulfillment of all of the sacrificial system that we see

  330. in Leviticus. His shedding of blood was

  331. finally, an acceptable sacrifice that would cleanse men of all of

  332. their sins. This is the Precious Blood of a

  333. lamb without blemish or defect. I don't know about you brothers

  334. and sisters. I'm thankful for the precious

  335. lamb, his Precious Blood the lamb without blemish or defect,

  336. because he is the only accept acceptable sacrifice that will

  337. allow us communion with God. The Father, I'm thankful for the

  338. blood sacrifice of redemption of Jesus Christ.

  339. So as we remember the atonement of Christ, we must remember his

  340. blood paid. Our Redemption Revelation

    Revelation 5 chapter mention

  341. chapter 5. They had no problem remembering

  342. that around the throne. In fact, in verse 9 of chapter

  343. 5, they sing a song and it was a new song in the new song went

  344. like this. It said, you are worthy to take

  345. the scroll and to open its open, its seals because you were slain

  346. and with your blood. You purchased men for God from

  347. every tribe and language and people and Nation, you have made

  348. them to be a kingdom and Priests to serve, our God and they will

  349. Will reign on the earth. Oh, they don't have a hard time.

  350. They're in heaven. Remembering what Christ has done

  351. through his atoning. Work his atoning, sacrifice

  352. through his blood of redemption. He has purchased men for God.

  353. He paid your debt that you owed it.

  354. What a glorious, savior. We have, it says blood of

  355. redemption, but it's also his blood of reconciliation must be

  356. remembered, his blood of reconciliation.

  357. The fact, That our relationship as humans to God.

  358. Had been broken because of sin. And we needed to be reconciled

  359. to God. Some way in Romans chapter 5.

    Romans 5 chapter mention

  360. We know that it tells us the way Romans Chapter 5 Verse 18.

    Romans 5:18

  361. It says, consequently just as the result of one trespass, what

  362. was condemnation for all men? Speaking of Adam's sin in the

  363. fall, they're in the garden, he's just so, also, the result

  364. of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life

  365. for all men. He says, the act of

  366. righteousness, the sacrifice of Christ.

  367. Also brings life to all men. For just Through the

  368. Disobedience of the one man. The many were made Sinners.

  369. So, also Through The Obedience of the one man, the many will be

  370. made righteous the law was added so that the trespass might

  371. increase. But where sin increased Grace

  372. increased. All the more so that just as Sin

  373. reigned in death. So also Christ might Reign

  374. through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus

  375. Christ. Our Lord, the blood of Jesus

  376. Christ is our Reconciliation to God. a Reconciliation paid for

  377. through his blood sacrifice Colossians chapter 1, We see

    Colossians 1 chapter mention

  378. this in Colossians 1 verse 19. It says there in 19 for God was

    Colossians 1:19

  379. pleased to have all his fullness, dwell in him.

  380. And through him, to reconcile to himself all things, whether

  381. things on earth, or things in Heaven, by making peace, through

  382. his blood shed on the cross. I'm thankful the piece that was

  383. made to the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

  384. Now I have those of you who are in Christ, have peace with God.

  385. Romans, 5:9 since we have now, been justified by his blood, how

  386. much more shall we be saved from God's Wrath?

  387. Through him for? If, when we were God's enemies,

  388. we were reconciled to him through the death of his son.

  389. How much more having been reconciled, shall we be saved

  390. through his life? It is his blood that reconciles

  391. the center to a holy God. It is his blood of redemption.

  392. It is blood of reconciliation, but also we must remember his

  393. blood of Ocean that in Christ, we know this and we were once

  394. cut off alienated from god. That relationship was broken and

  395. we could not have a relationship with God.

  396. But yet through the blood of Jesus Christ, and his sacrifice

  397. of atonement, we have been restored in our relationship to

  398. the father, when we observe the Lord's Supper, let us remember

  399. the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, the blood sacrifice of

  400. the New Covenant, that New Covenant of Grace, the New

  401. Covenant of Grace represented, By the fruit of the vine and

  402. just a moment as we remember. The blood sacrifice of Jesus

  403. Christ. We must remember the Advent of

  404. Christ. The atonement of Christ must be

  405. remembered and then I want us to see that he doesn't stop there.

  406. We see the accomplishments of Christ remembered, the

  407. accomplishments of Christ verse 26, Paul goes on He says this in

  408. verse 26. Pieces for whenever you eat this

  409. bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death.

  410. I want to stop there and we'll finish that burst in a second,

  411. but you proclaim the Lord's death.

  412. This is very important because no New Testament writer would

  413. have left Christ Dead, when he referred to his death.

  414. Here he is, referring to the package deal.

  415. His death, his burial, his resurrection.

  416. The fact that Jesus Christ accomplished at all.

  417. In fact, it goes further than that, they understood his death,

  418. his burial, his resurrection, his Ascension.

  419. Engine and his soon return. And so, as we look at this, he

  420. is instructing us to look at. And remember the accomplishments

  421. of Christ that he accomplished through his death, his burial

  422. and his resurrection, we go all the way back to Calvary, we go

  423. out to gotha the place of the skull and we remember what

  424. Christ accomplished there through his death, through his

  425. burial through his resurrection. Let's remember that this morning

  426. as we see these instructions. What did he do?

  427. What were his accomplishments? Let's look at them and let us as

  428. believers. Purrs Rejoice, let me say this

  429. as unbeliever let-let's, tremble.

  430. If you're an unbeliever here today because you need to

  431. tremble, you need to tremble in fear of judgment because you've

  432. not yet, trusted in Jesus Christ.

  433. I don't say that to scare you. I say that because for the

  434. believer, when we look at these things, great hope Wells up and

  435. us, but for the unbeliever, when you look at these things, great

  436. fear. Wells, up in you.

  437. So, play close attention to what happens as we look at these

  438. things. And as we remember these things,

  439. as we remember, The accomplishments of Christ that

  440. he defeated sin by his death sin has been defeated because of

  441. Christ's death. As I've already read for you in

  442. Romans, 5:18, I'll read it again.

  443. Consequently, just says the result of one trespass was

  444. condemnation for all men. So also, the result of the one

  445. act of righteousness was justification that brings life

  446. to all men. For just, as through the

  447. Disobedience of the one man, the many were made Sinners.

  448. So also Through The Obedience of the one man, the many will be

  449. made righteous law was added so that the trespass might

  450. increase. But where sin increased Grace

  451. increased all the more so that just as Sin reigned in death.

  452. So also Grace, might Reign through righteousness to bring

  453. eternal life through Jesus Christ.

  454. Our Lord it is Jesus Christ. Who defeated sin, through his

  455. death, just as Sin entered in through, Adam affected, all man,

  456. did you know this through the death of Jesus, Christ sin has

  457. been abolished for to all who will believe and trust in him.

  458. He came, we must remember, he defeated sin by his death.

  459. For those who believe and trust in him, Not only did he defeat

  460. sin by his death he destroyed death by his resurrection.

  461. He destroyed death by his resurrection.

  462. Aren't you thankful that Jesus three days after he went into

  463. that tomb walked out victoriously destroying death

  464. through his resurrection. Second Timothy 1:8 Paul says

    2 Timothy 1:8

  465. this to Young Timothy. He says, so do not be ashamed to

  466. testify about our Lord ashamed of me, his prisoner, but join

  467. with me in suffering for the gospel by the power of God who

  468. has saved us and called us to a holy life.

  469. Not because of anything we have done but because of his own

  470. purpose and Grace, this Grace was given us in Christ Jesus

  471. before the beginning of time. But it has now been revealed

  472. through the appearing of our savior Christ Jesus.

  473. Watch this. Who has destroyed death.

  474. And brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

  475. It is the message of the Gospel that brings a person out of

  476. death and in to life it is that Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  477. The fact that he accomplished through his death, his burial

  478. and his resurrection, he accomplished what he set out to

  479. do and that was to destroy death for all those who would trust in

  480. him. We know the Apostle Paul teaches

  481. us that we die. With Christ, we were buried with

  482. Christ and we Rose to New Life with Christ.

  483. When Jesus came out of that tomb, he declared the

  484. destruction of death, for all those who would by faith, trust

  485. in him for the eons and ages to come.

  486. He has destroyed death by his resurrection.

  487. Anyone here thankful for that, that because he is alive.

  488. There is no longer any fear of death for those who Believe, and

  489. trust in him. You see, we must remember that

  490. the accomplishments of Christ being remembered today as we

  491. observe the Lord's, Supper he that he defeated sin by his

  492. death and he destroyed death by his resurrection and then

  493. thirdly that, he then departed to Heaven.

  494. He departed to Heaven. This is an aspect that gets left

  495. out so much. The Ascension of Christ.

  496. Can I tell you this? This is very important.

  497. We leave it out so much. We talked about his death and

  498. his burial and his resurrection, but don't forget that he

  499. ascended back to where he had come from.

  500. We know that he came from the father and he ascended back to

  501. the father. And why did he ascended back to

  502. the father? Romans tells us that Christ

  503. died. He was raised to life and is at

  504. the right hand of God and is interceding for us.

  505. Did you notice? There's no accusation that can

  506. be brought against Kirk Hall any longer, because when the accuser

  507. of the Brethren brings an accusation to God, the Father

  508. about Kirk Hall, Jesus Christ through his sacrifice of Calvary

  509. intercedes for me and he says no he is innocent.

  510. He is Justified, he is Forgiven. He is righteous not because of

  511. anything that he is done but because I died.

  512. I was buried. I rose again and I am here

  513. making intercession for For all those who believe and he says

  514. this, he says, he's there, Hebrews 7 verse 25 tells us this

    Hebrews 7:25

  515. he's there and he always lives to intercede for us.

  516. Oh, don't forget the Ascension of Christ that he went back to

  517. the father. He went back to the father

  518. because he's a worthy sacrifice and the father was pleased with

  519. that sacrifice and now when the father sees those who are in

  520. Christ, he sees the richness of the sacrifice of Christ and he

  521. no longer sees Our sin. Oh, what an intercessor that we

  522. have in Christ that mediator between us and the father.

  523. Thank you. Lord Jesus.

  524. And when we observe the Lord's, Supper, we remember the

  525. accomplishments of Christ, it was death, his burial, his

  526. resurrection, his Ascension into heaven, where he intercedes for

  527. us. All those feelings of gratitude,

  528. and hope and excitement should well up in us as we think on

  529. those things. And as we think about those

  530. things this morning, We observe the Lord's, Supper, let us

  531. remember the accomplishments of Christ's death.

  532. It doesn't stop there. The second part of verse 26.

  533. It says this, the first part of 26 spoke of his death.

  534. But whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim

  535. the Lord's death. Yes you do.

  536. It says an interesting statement next until he comes.

  537. I'm so thankful that that doesn't say if he comes, or in

  538. case he comes or perhaps he could come.

  539. It says that you Proclaim his death until he comes.

  540. It is an established thing. Yes, coming.

  541. I know we don't talk about the return of Christ, anymore and

  542. comfortable Christianity, in the United States of America because

  543. it makes people uncomfortable. Let me just make you

  544. uncomfortable for many Christ, shall return.

  545. Just as he promised. In fact, at his Ascension, it

  546. was promised. They just, as I've left.

  547. I'm coming back in, like, manner of coming back, just like this.

  548. We know this that the prophets tell us that he is going to set

  549. foot on the Mount of Olives, in the Earth is going to Quake, but

  550. let me warn you. Dear friends.

  551. He is not coming back as a sacrificial lamb.

  552. He's coming back as a triumphant lion, and he's coming to rule

  553. and he's coming to Reign and he's coming to judge the sin of

  554. the world. And if you are not in Christ,

  555. when this happens, you will perish in agony in hell.

  556. But I would hope we have for those of us who are in Christ.

  557. The certainty of his return. He says, do this until he come.

  558. Ask you this. Are you longing for his

  559. appearing? Are you longing for is paying

  560. know? When you watch the news.

  561. I hope you do it accidentally nowadays. but when you watch the

  562. news, are you dismayed because the country that you grew up in

  563. is changing? Are you excited?

  564. Because each day as the World falls apart, Our Hope of Jesus

  565. Christ draws nearer and nearer and nearer.

  566. Are you longing for his appearing?

  567. Or do you want to hold on to your little worldly life that

  568. you have built? Just a little longer?

  569. And I remind you what? The Apostle Paul said.

  570. He says there's a crown of righteousness for me.

  571. I just kept in heaven, but not only for me for all of those who

  572. long for his appearing who are waiting, until he comes

  573. remembering what he has done to his body through his blood, what

  574. he has accomplished through his death, his burial, his

  575. resurrection, his Ascension. Oh, Jesus Christ is worth

  576. remembering, isn't he? He's worth remembering.

  577. He says, there is the certainty of his return.

  578. He's giving advice and admonition, that must be

  579. remembered in this text advice. And admonition that you must

  580. take the heart. That there is a certain return

  581. of Christ. Then he gives us this.

  582. As we read on and verse 27, he gives us not only a certain

  583. return of Christ in charge of self-examination.

  584. A charge of self-examination in this charge is to the believer.

  585. He says in verse 27, therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks

  586. the cup of the Lord, in an unworthy manner will be guilty

  587. of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.

  588. A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and

  589. drinks of the cup. We've looked at this morning and

  590. we have the magnitude of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

  591. The fact that he truly came as God incarnate.

  592. As the God, man. To Bear your suffering and bear

  593. your pain into bear, your Agony and to Bear the wrath of God and

  594. received the punishment that belonged to you and to shed his

  595. blood, every ounce of his blood, as an atoning sacrifice to wash

  596. you and cleanse you of all your sin.

  597. Would it not be okay for the Apostle Paul under the

  598. instruction of the Lord didn't call us out to Holiness because

  599. of what Jesus Christ has done for him.

  600. That's what he's doing is saying, examine, your wife today

  601. before you partake of the Lord's Supper.

  602. Is there anything in your life? Any sin that you know, is open

  603. defilement unto God is their sin that you have been convicted

  604. about, is their sin, that the scripture clearly defines that

  605. is sin, is it in your life and is it actively present?

  606. You have to examine yourself. What he's saying for us to do?

  607. I know. We live in a church age where no

  608. one wants to encourage anyone to examine themselves toward

  609. Holiness, but God's word says different.

  610. God's word says, before you even partake of the Lord's Supper you

  611. need to examine yourself. You need to repent of your sin

  612. and you need to confess your sin.

  613. Aren't you thankful for the promises of God?

  614. First John 1:9, that says, if we confess our sins, he is

    1 John 1:9

  615. faithful. And just to forgive us our sins

  616. and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

  617. So, today I would say to you brother and sister in Christ for

  618. you /. Take of the Lord's Supper.

  619. Look at your life. Look at your life here.

  620. The admonition of Christ through the Apostle Paul here, the

  621. charge of self-examination examine, you do examine your

  622. wife or examine your husband, or examine your children, or your

  623. parents. Examine yourself this morning.

  624. Why so that you don't fall into the chastisement of the lord.

  625. Well, that's what he teaches us next.

  626. The advice and admonition of Christ remembered he says,

  627. remember Christ. The certainty of his return, the

  628. charge of self-examination. You, so was Christ really

  629. charging us here? Yes, Paul.

  630. So, these are instructions I received from the Lord.

  631. This is the Lord through Paul telling you to examine yourself

  632. and to see if you are right in your life.

  633. Dear believer here today, I can tell you this, there's no sin

  634. active in your life that you don't know about because the

  635. Holy Spirit who lives inside of you always let you know about

  636. that. You just hadn't gotten honest

  637. about it yet. That's what confession is.

  638. Did you know that confession is getting honest with God?

  639. About what God already knows about.

  640. It's getting honest and saying, Lord, you're right when your

  641. spirit convicts me that what I'm doing is wrong, The mode I admit

  642. that to you and I call it sin and I know if you freed me in

  643. Christ from my sin not so that I can abuse your grace.

  644. You freed me so that I can live a life of righteousness.

  645. That brings you glory and honor and praise.

  646. Who see the advice and the admonition.

  647. Certainty of his return to charge of self-examination but

  648. the chastisement of those who mishandled the Lord's Supper

  649. I'll see that the Lord warns us here.

  650. Verse 29, watch this. He says, for anyone.

  651. Who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the

  652. Lord, each and drinks judgment on himself.

  653. That is why many among you are weak and sick.

  654. He's talking to the church and he sang, many people among you

  655. there in Corinth at the church at Corinth, many of people among

  656. you are weak and sick and have fallen asleep.

  657. That word fallen asleep. I assure you of, this is a

  658. reference to the death of a new testament, believer.

  659. And what is happening here. He knows that the Lord has

  660. promised us this and he who believes in him shall never die.

  661. He's talking about their carnal body.

  662. The car nobody has passed from this Earth, and they are now in

  663. the presence of God so that they can don't continue to bring

  664. reproach upon the name of God here at the church at Corinth.

  665. We're here at the church at Chi Li He's saying this there, many

  666. people among you who are weak and sick and a number of you

  667. have fallen asleep. Because you're mishandling the

  668. Lord's Supper, you're taking in an unworthy manner.

  669. But if we judged ourselves, we would not come under judgment.

  670. Oh, what a word of advice. Everybody's always worried about

  671. everyone else, aren't they? I want to encourage you in just

  672. a moment to worry about yourself.

  673. Examine your own life. Examine your own life, not in

  674. the light of what you're trying to justify or what you're trying

  675. to think. but to examine your life in light of God's, holy

  676. word, But if we judge ourselves, we would not come under

  677. judgment. When we are judged by the Lord,

  678. we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with

  679. the world. Again, I say this you being

  680. disciplined by the Lord. He bring disciplined by the Lord

  681. because he loves you. And I can promise you this.

  682. There's one that he loves more than you.

  683. That is the father. And he will not let you bring

  684. reproach upon his name on this Earth.

  685. He's warning the Corinthian Church to this examine yourself.

  686. Stop bringing reproach upon the name of the Lord.

  687. What has happened here at the Corinthian Church?

  688. They have changed this Lord's Supper into this drunken orgy,

  689. feast Something that was never supposed to be, what was it

  690. supposed to be? It's plain and simple.

  691. He's made that clear supposed to be a time of remembrance

  692. affectionate recollection. What Jesus Christ has done for

  693. us. That's what this is supposed to

  694. be. It's not supposed to be a time

  695. of ritual. It's not supposed to be a time

  696. of just some traditional practice.

  697. He doesn't say that. In fact, we noticed that the New

  698. Testament warns about festivals and Sabbath's and religious

  699. practice. He's not instituting.

  700. I assure you another religious practice But he is instituting.

  701. This ordinance of remembrance Always stop.

  702. We remember nothing. but Christ and who he is and what he has

  703. done for us and what he accomplished his death, his

  704. burial, his resurrection, his Ascension and the advice and the

  705. admonition that he gives to the Believers concerning this

  706. ordinance that we should Observe this until he returns

  707. anticipating. Oh, Lord, I would that before we

  708. drink this cup today, that we would be in your presence.

  709. Your will be done. Your will be done all that.

  710. We would see the certainty of his return that we would see the

  711. charge of self-examination. I mean right now it's not

  712. thinking about how fast can I get out of this church service,

  713. but what is it in my life that Jesus Christ died for that?

  714. I'm still trying to hold on to call that thing by name and

  715. confess it to him. Examine yourself so that you

  716. then don't fall under the chastisement of the Lord.

  717. Again that doesn't mean make God mean that makes our heavenly

  718. father a good parent. It is the same heavenly.

  719. Father who said if you spare the rod you spoil the child how

  720. could he then come back. Spare the rod on his children

  721. whom he loves he disciplines and he chastens with her on.

  722. Please don't fall under the chastisement of the Lord today

  723. because you observe the Lord's Supper in an unworthy manner.

  724. So, let us assume the teachings here in 1st Corinthians chapter

  725. 11. Let us see the importance today.

  726. This call to remember this call to remember, Jesus.

  727. All that. He has done all that he has

  728. accomplished some of you today. This means nothing.

  729. It's means nothing because you do not know him.

  730. Some of you today, you don't know him as Lord and Savior, the

  731. speak of his death, it does nothing to you.

  732. To speak of his sacrifice moves. You in no way his resurrection

  733. to you is just make-believe as Ascension is just some type of

  734. solder fallacy. His return and your mind is

  735. never going to happen. Means nothing to you.

  736. How sad that is going to say this to you my friend, what a

  737. problem you have. What a problem you have.

  738. Because I know this There are those of us who know, Christ.

  739. think of his death moves us, realize that that crushed body

  740. should have been, our should motivate us to service, and to

  741. adoration to praise and to worship The shouts.

  742. Glorification for him toward him alone.

  743. Some of you. Don't know, Christ.

  744. So, you don't understand. I would say this to you today.

  745. Repent. Repent and turn to Jesus Christ

  746. as Lord and Savior trusting in Him by faith and faith alone as

  747. your lord and as your savior. I pray today that for those of

  748. you who are lost in your darkness that you are dead in

  749. your sin today, that he would open your eyes that you could

  750. see the truth graciously, giving you the faith to believe and to

  751. trust in him and to be empowered to repent and to turn of your

  752. sin and to turn toward Christ and Christ Alone, calling out to

  753. him. And let me assure you this for

  754. whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall Say that

  755. if he allows you to call on him today to save you, I promise you

  756. this, he is faithful to save you.

  757. This very day. You can leave here understanding

  758. what the bread, and the cup really represent the body, and

  759. the blood of Jesus Christ, and all the things that surrounded

  760. his ministry, and his teaching on this Earth.

  761. You can be saved this very day. Cry out to him.

  762. The only one who can save you turning to him and him alone as

  763. the only acceptable sacrifice. it cleanses men of their sin and

  764. grants to them eternal life as promised by the father, The

  765. believer. I pray today.

  766. As we observe the Lord's Supper. As you remember him, what he

  767. does, what he has done for you. I pray that you were stirred

  768. within spiritually at the Holy Spirit who lives inside of you

  769. would excite you, and motivate you to serve the Lord and to

  770. proclaim the gospel, like you never have before to love others

  771. and to show the love of Christ to others.

  772. So I pray today. As we prepare our hearts,

  773. Observe the Lord's Supper. That we would in just a moment

  774. for take of this supper. In remembrance.

  775. Of him. It's pretty God.

  776. The Father we love you. We thank you for loving us.

  777. We thank you. For all of the things that we

  778. can stop and remember that you have accomplished through the

  779. Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus.

  780. We thank you for your body that was crushed on our behalf.

  781. We thank you for the blood of your sacrifice.

  782. That sacrifice of atonement. The cleanses even the most

  783. wicked and vile Sinners such as myself.

  784. Mall of their sin. Making us right with God,

  785. bringing Redemption reconciliation and restoration

  786. as only you can through your book.

  787. God, we thank you. The finished work of Calvary,

  788. the death, the burial, the Resurrection, the Ascension of

  789. Jesus Christ. And all of the hope that that

  790. brings to those who know him. Lord, I pray that we hear the

  791. advice and the admonishment. From the Apostle Paul as he

  792. repeats the instructions that he received from you, I pray that

  793. today. We would see the certainty of

  794. his return, that we would long for that, that we would examine

  795. ourselves as you called us to do.

  796. That we would partake of this Lord's.

  797. Supper a manner. That is worthy of the one who we

  798. are remembering here today. The Lord Jesus Christ.

  799. We give you praise for who you are and for what you're going to

  800. do now in Jesus name. Thank you for listening to the
