Peace for the Anxious Heart - John 14:27

John chapter 14 and we know that we are coming off a lesson that

John 14 · chapter mention

Jesus taught us last week regarding the indwelling, Holy

Spirit, and the promise of that counselor that he was going to

sin at comforter that advocate. And in this week, we're going to

look at one particular verse that you could put with that

text or you could put it with the next section or you could as

we're going to do today. Stop for just a moment.

And examine the truths that we see.

In this one verse verse 27 of chapter 14, because in this

verse Jesus is going to offer peace to the anxious Hearts.

He's to the anxious hearts. And as we continue the study I

want to remind you, this is in the upper room.

During what we call the upper room discourse where he is

teaching specific lessons to his true disciples.

Remember Judas is gone. V disciple has left his teaching

lessons to the church. And pray that this church would

get that lesson lesson that he is about to unfold for us and

Jesus knowing their fear and their anxious thoughts, their

worries that they are facing. He's told them that he's going

to die for their sin. He's told him that he's going to

leave the world and go to the father.

He's told him that he's the way the truth and the life.

No man comes to the father but by them he lets him know he's

going back there. And if he goes back there, he's

going to come again to that place that he has prepared for

them. And he's going to take them to

where he is, but in the meanwhile, We're going to face

all sorts of things on this Earth.

In fact, we know this that they're going to just a few days

run for their life and hide. Jesus and his compassion and his

love for them here. In this Upper Room discourse,

he's going to help them. To deal with their anxious

hearts. When you see this in a message

entitled piece for the anxious heart, Jesus is going to give

them peace for their anxious hearts.

We know that anxiety is a problem in our culture is a

problem in our culture and statistics prove that before we

look at the statistics that we are going to examine from a

survey done in 2022. I want to remind you the

definition of anxiety. Here's the basic definition of

anxiety, it is the anticipatory fear of a future problem.

It's not even a problem yet. It's not even come to fruition

as a problem. It is a created problem or it is

a promise from the enemy of a potential problem, but it's not

even a problem. Yet many people, as we will see

from these statistics are gripped by their anxious Hearts,

their gripped by fear their troubled.

They're facing this anxiety. Did you know this?

The statistic? She was this, that anxiety is

the most common mental illness and the United States, most

common mental illness in the United States.

Statistics show, that one third of Americans show signs of

depression, or clinical anxiety, that's roughly. 110 million

people. Who are gripped by fear or group

by worry who are fretting over things, that haven't even come

to pass yet. And probably will not come to

pass top 10, fears reported in this survey in 2022, in the

survey that was taken. Number one was covid-19.

With 35 percent of the people surveyed being anxious because

of covid-19, the second thing, it was poverty and social,

inequality, 31 percent of those surveyed said that they're

anxious in regard to poverty and social.

Equality, 28% said, I'm worried about unemployment, I'm fearful

of this. financial and political corruption found, 27 percent of

the people surveyed in constant fear and worry about financial

and political corruption, 26 percent of the world.

Say that crime and violence calls them.

Great anxiety fear. 23% said Healthcare.

They're afraid that when they grow older, they won't have the

health care that they need. As if God somehow stopped being

sovereign. twenty-three percent said they worry about that

fearful 20% said, inflation's, my thing.

Inflation's, what what has me worried?

16% said, taxes. You can tell that this wasn't

done. In March or April. 15% said

education. I just don't feel like I'm

educated enough and have the opportunity to get education.

I'm fearful that I'm just not going to make it in Life or I

don't want to achieve my goals in education and then 15% the

same percent which I find striking the odd, they're

anxious and fearful and worried about climate change, as if they

could control that in any way at all.

But interesting enough in this survey there was no recorded

fear and anxiety associated with the coming judgment and wrath of

God. That is going to come upon this

wicked world. No one was worried about that

but you know what they were worried about?

Are those titles that we learnt that when we looked at covid-19

and poverty and social inequality and unemployment

Financial political corruption crime and violence Health Care,

inflation. Tax is education and climate

change. We know that the media is

pumping out information about this constantly.

Proving the fact that the media wants you to be afraid and can I

assure you of this? Please listen.

The secular media is controlled by Satan himself.

Please know that that the things that they spew from their mouths

or lies, and he is the father of all lies.

It's only look at the survey. We can come to this conclusion.

The world is anxious. World is anxious 5.8 percent of

American children. Ages 3 to 17 are said to have

anxiety. Yes Yuri of this parent.

You listen to this and you listen to this closely.

If your three-year-old has anxiety you taught them how to

have anxiety. You taught him how to walk.

You taught him how to talk you taught him, how to eat, they're

anxious because you are fearful. They are worried because you are

worried. They learn it from your pattern.

5.8 American, 5.8 percent of American children, said to have

anxiety. There was a 25% global increase

of anxiety because of covid-19. Now you pay attention to that at

25 percent increase of anxiety around the globe.

For a disease that by statistics was only fatal in less than one

percent of the cases. You think the media isn't trying

to cause you to doubt God and to fear I assure you, they are 8.10

million people in the United States. 8.10 million people in

the United States, are prescribed, some type of anti

anxiety medication. Proof that the world has

exchanged peace for a prescription.

The world has exchanged piece for prescription.

I assure you today. That the Lord Jesus Christ.

The great physician is going to give you the antidote for your

troubled, anxious heart and is going to be the peace of God

that he offers to his true disciples.

And unfortunately as we survey the world, we know this that

this problem is always also already crept into the church.

And the Pew to the pulpit. The statistics are astounding.

Of the pastors who claim to have suffered with anxiety and stress

and depression. Perhaps, even some of you today.

You were suffering, the crippling effects of anxiety and

fear in your life. Jesus is going to offer some

things in this verse today. I want to pay close attention to

those things. As we read The Words of Christ

in John 14:27 and light of the fact that all statistics show,

John 14:27

That men and women and children in this world are succumbing to

anxiety and fear. But Jesus is going to offer them

today piece for their trouble. Hearts verse 27 says this peace,

I leave with you. My peace.

I give you I do not give to you as the world gives.

Do not let your hearts be troubled.

We sing this to the Believers in the upper room discourse.

I'm saying it to Believers here today who claim to know Christ.

Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Do not be afraid. The term fear, not, or do not

fear, is repeated hundreds upon hundreds.

Upon hundreds of times in scripture.

Yet we find a society who is always gripped by their fear.

And I want us to see today, as we look at the words of Jesus,

this does not have to be so in the life of a Christian it

should not be. So let's look first at the

promised peace of Christ. We see that in the first part of

this verse, he says, peace. I leave with you peace.

I leave with you and I assure you of this.

When Jesus says something, it is a guarantee.

This is a guarantee for all True Believers.

As he's, there in the upper Upper Room, speaking to his true

followers. Knowing exactly what they are

about to go through. He says peace.

I leave with you. He didn't pull out the

Prescription Pad. Write them script at the local

pharmacy, there in Jerusalem. But he offered them something

greater. He said Peace I leave with you.

Oh the craving of the anxious heart should be peace and it is

a guaranteed to all who are in Christ first.

We see that he gives them peace with God and oh what a piece

that is peace with God, through true reconciliation.

I pray to God that you were thankful today that you have

been reconciled to a. Holy God.

Did you know this? You were not born into this

world at peace with your creator.

In fact because of sin, you were born into this world.

An enemy of God. Romans 5:10 says this for if

Romans 5:10

when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through

the death of his son. How much more having been

reconciled shall we be saved through his life not only is

this. So but we also rejoice in God

through our Lord Jesus Christ through whom we have now

received reconciliation reconciliation.

It is through Christ that we have peace with God.

It is part of the peace package that he is offering his true

disciples here today, to rest in the fact of knowing that I have

peace with my holy Creator, a piece that I did not learn on my

own but was earned a for me, through the precious sacrifice

of Jesus Christ. I have peace with God and

reconciliation with God, the Father, Jesus is telling his

disciples here. I'm promising.

You peace peace. I leave with you.

Guarantee for all True Believers peace with God, Colossians 1

Colossians 1:20

verse 20 says and through him to reconcile to himself all things,

it's talking of Christ. Whether things on earth, or

things in Heaven, by making peace.

Through his blood shed on the cross.

All things have been reconciled for the believer, through the

sacrifice of Jesus Christ, through the blood shed on the

cross. It is at the cross where we

receive peace with God. Jesus offering This Promise of

peace. Peace with God to his disciples

there in the upper end. Peace, I leave with you.

My peace with God and it's peace from God.

He's from God. In the fact that the Holy Spirit

continually indwells all of us who believe remember the lesson

last week. He said I'm going to send you

another counselor. He's going to move in, he's with

you, he's going to be in you. He's saying the piece that I

leave with you will be an internal piece.

Aren't you thankful that? We don't have to get our piece

from an outside Source? We have peace with God but we

also have peace from God through that.

Continual dwelling of the Holy Spirit.

What a gift. That Galatians 5, when Paul

describes the fruit of the spirit he says, but the fruit of

the spirit is this in verse 22, love, joy, peace.

All the spirit is going to produce peace in your life as a

Believer. It is the fruit of the spirit

peace from God. It is gone.

And Hebrews chapter 13. He's referred to as the God of

Hebrews 13 · chapter mention

Peace. Hebrew starts in 20 calls, him

the God of Peace, it is a part of who he is and you have peace

from him. What a gracious God that we have

to offer us peace knowing that we were going to live in a

tumultuous world and in an upside-down Society, the Pagan

culture yet he offers us peace from himself.

He says peace I leave with you. My peace with God peace from God

15 times in the New Testament. This phrase is offered up.

Peace from God. You think peace doesn't come

from God. And why?

With a new testament 15 different times.

Say grace to you, and peace from God.

To know. That our heavenly father cares

enough for us. It has enough compassion on his

children to send us peace to live within us, the power of the

Holy Spirit. And though the world may

crumble, Mountains, may fall Wars may break out.

And famine happen. Natural disaster happen.

Economic chaos happen. God has given his children.

Internal peace, internal peace. Peace from God.

This takes us to the next part and not only is it a guarantee

for all True Believers. When we look at the promised

peace of Christ, it's a gift of God's Grace.

Peace is Grace, and all. Grace is come from Christ,

please? Understand that, every Grace,

that you have from God, is found in crime, and it is in Christ.

We receive peace as a gift of God's grace.

Romans 5:1 says, therefore since we have been justified through

Romans 5:1

faith, we have peace with God through our Lord.

Jesus Christ, peace with God. Through our Lord Jesus Christ

through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace,

what Grace, The Grace Of Peace that comes with the grace of God

found only in Christ, which we now stand and we rejoice in the

hope of the glory of God. O what peace?

He gives to us because of his grades that peace is achieved by

Christ is achieved by Christ through his atoning, sacrifice

on the cross. He's was achieved for you and

for all who will by faith trust in Christ, he has achieved that

piece for us, it is through him and him alone that we will ever

see true God given peace is achieved by Christ.

Gift of God's grace is also accessed by clients prices are

access to true. Peace Ephesians, chapter 3 verse

Ephesians 3:12

12 in him and through faith. In him.

We may approach god with freedom and confidence.

Did you know this? At one time in your life, you

were at enmity with God, you could not approach him.

There was no peace between you and your maker.

In fact. You're alienated from him.

You could not have a right relationship with him, but

Christ, through his sacrifice has reconciled Sinners unto God.

So, that through faith in Christ, we can now approach god

with freedom and confidence. We can approach God and receive

peace from God. What a promise from Christ here

in the mix midst of anxious Hearts.

I can tell you this he knew of their anxious Hearts.

He knows all things but it's pertinent here that he teaches

this lesson because he knew the anxiety that they were being

stricken with. He promises them.

Peace. Let me pee, you told us, your

leave is leaving us. You told us, you're going to

die. He's about to tell them the

things that are going to happen to them.

He's telling them in the midst of all these things and list of

all the bad news that you've heard. you interpret is bad

news, there's no reason to fear Jesus himself another occasion

told his disciples in this life there will be all kinds of

troubles do not be afraid. I have overcome the world so it

is in Christ that we have great calls to walk in.

God's gift is gracious. Gift of Peace.

We access it through Christ and in Christ.

So, if you're going to attain peace in this life, let me start

by saying this. You're never going to find it in

this world. We're going to find it in this

world. It is from God and it is a gift

of his grace. So the believer who is here

today, let me say this to you to be gripped by anxiety and fear.

Is to forget the very promise of peace from Jesus Christ.

For you to be gripped by your anxiety and fear, is to forget

the promises of peace that Christ is making here.

There are many people, I'm afraid many people even in the

church who are suffering with anxiety.

Simply because they don't truly believe what Jesus said.

He said, Peace, I leave with you what more evidence do you need?

Peace I leave with you. It's yours for the taking who

was he speaking to? He was he was not out in the

streets. Evangelizing the Lost.

He's speaking in the upper room in the upper room discourse to

the True Believers and he said, I leave peace with you.

The world knows nothing of this kind of Peace but you do yours

for the taking and leave it. With you.

Well, how many tons Believers can we testify?

The how the piece that Christ has promised us?

His carried us through the things of this life?

Oh don't forget. The promises live as if you

believe them to disregard them is to act as if you don't.

I'm a firm believer in this that if you really believe something

he will live what you say you believe and if you don't live

it, you don't really believe it. There are many Christians who

they have learned enough Christian.

He's to say, I believe. Of that Jesus promises Us Peace

by. But Kirk you don't understand.

I might not, but I assure you of this.

He does He understands understands right?

Where you are? He understands where you're

going, he understands where you've been.

He understands where he's going to take you.

He offers you. Peace is a promise of Peace, the

Peace of Christ. Not only do we see in this one.

Verse the promised peace of Christ.

He says peace. I leave with you.

We see secondly, the personal peace of Christ.

Watch this. My peace.

I give you. My peace.

I give you. He's not offering them.

Some type of knockoff. Peace.

Or substitute for real peace. This Is Not Great Value.

He's offering them his piece. He says my piece that is the

operative word there, please focus on that.

He's not saying I'm giving you something other than the piece

that I have. He is saying I am giving to you

the same piece that resides in me through the indwelling, Holy

Spirit, the same piece of Christ.

Wow. The same piece that calm Jesus

there in the garden. When he prayed.

He sweat drops of blood. and he said, I would that this cup pass

from me, But he was overwhelmed by piece and what was that

piece? The will of God nevertheless

your will be done that same piece.

Been allowed an all-knowing savior.

To walk into that Garden, that night.

Knowing that one of his closest friends was going to betray him,

that he was going to be turned over, falsely to the authorities

that he was going to be falsely, trout tried and falsely executed

the same piece that allowed Jesus Christ to walk through

those things, resides in every single one of you who are truly

in Christ. Let's for the person who says

because you don't know about the anxiety that I go through.

I promise you, this Christ does and the anxiety that you go

through shrinks in comparison to the anxiety that he and his

Humanity would have went through without the peace of God.

He says my peace. My peace, I give you the same

piece that I am. Same piece that calm Jesus.

But also the same piece that carried.

Jesus, it carried and we see that as he was there.

He looked at his accusers. He looked at those who tormented

him and tortured him He says, father forgive them for they

know not what they do. What piece Christ must have

experience to be able to forgive his enemies in such a way to be

able to rest in God's plan, you know, not to take matters into

his own hands. He didn't offer his disciples a

lesser piece than he walked in and experienced in his life on

this Earth. It's the same piece.

His people I want you to brother dear sister in Christ to think

about that for a moment. Next time, the enemy wants you

to be filled with anxious, thoughts, and fears, and

worries. Frets.

I'll think about this the same piece of Christ.

That allowed him to endure. Is the same piece that lives in

you through the power of the Holy Spirit.

He said my peace. I give to you same piece of

Christ but also the sustaining peace of Christ.

It is the peace of God in him. That sustained him is peace.

Sustain him during his suffering.

I assure you of that First Peter chapter 2 verse 23.

1 Peter 2:23

It says when they hurled their insults at him he did not

retaliate. Why he was at peace.

He was at peace with the Sovereign plan of God, the

father. He was at peace said, he did not

retaliate and when he suffered, he did not make he made no

threats. He didn't threaten them, Jesus,

never let out one. I'll get you for this from the

cross. He was at peace.

With the plan of God. And he has, he was at peace with

God, the father because he was obediently walking in his will

even though walking in his will meant suffering.

He was at Great Piece. What a promise he says that same

piece, listen you Kirk Hall. The same, peace, my peace.

I leave with you sustaining. Peace is peace.

Sustain him during his suffering and his anguish is peace.

Tisane him even unto death. Facing death.

Luke chapter, 23 recorded this in verse 46, Jesus calling out

with a loud voice. Father into your hands.

I commit my spirit, and when he had said this, he breathed his

last what a peaceful death, He didn't scream out to the father,

avenge them for their wickedness.

He simply said. Father, into your hands.

I commit my spirit, I am at peace with your plan and I am at

peace with your provision and I am at peace with you my father

and he breathed his last breath. And he died, his peace sustained

him even unto death. The same piece that will sustain

the True Believer even unto death.

Did you know this many Martyrs throughout time have seen their

life? Come to an end with that?

Same simple attitude. Oh, we could talk of countless

Martyrs throughout church history.

Their last words were something to the degree of what Jesus said

here when he said into your hands.

I commit My spirit, in fact, we see Stephen in Acts chapter 7,

Acts 7 · chapter mention

following that model. Verse 59 when Stephen was being

martyred for his faith in Christ, after delivering a

powerful message, they're outside the Lions Gate in

Jerusalem. It says, while they were stoning

him. Stephen prayed.

Lord, Jesus. Receive my spirit he is they get

them for the bad things that they're doing, how could they

do? Such a horrible thing?

He knew horrible, men do horrible things, it's a fallen

world. What is Hope?

Was in the Peace of Christ that had been promised and he

finished his life on this Earth with words, very similar to what

he had learned from Christ. The Savior Lord receive my

spirit He died at peace. The Peace of Christ sustained

him in death, just as it's sustained Christ in death.

Just as it will sustain. All of us because it is the same

piece of Christ. For you, you Christian.

Be gripped by fear and anxiety and worry for you to be gripped.

By these things is to Forfeit the very piece of Christ, the

very piece of Christ, it is to say Jesus I realized that you

had the peace from God and that that piece resided upon you so

that you could die with that piece so that you could suffer

and still remain in peace but I don't want that I would rather

ER, have the fears of My Flesh, the doubts of my feeling, I

would rather be an emotional wreck.

And the trust and the personal peace of Christ.

Oh, Your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Hear that message here. That message that when we

succumb to fear and anxiety, we are willfully forfeiting

willfully forfeiting and laying down the very piece of Christ

that he died that we may have. Number three, as we continue in

this one verse with so much truth.

Peace, I leave with you. My peace, I give you I do not

give as the world gives, what a statement.

I do not give as the world gives.

He's saying my piece is different.

My piece is different from the Peace of the world.

My piece is perfect. Peace or look at the world's

peace. It's not perfect at all.

The perfect piece of Christ. If you were to understand it

correctly. Is contrary to the world's idea

of Peace, the world can only offer false and temporary peace

out. I'll prove it to you.

How many of you love history history proves this that the

world knows nothing of peace. They don't know how to find

peace. They don't know how to live in

peace. Peace to them is just this

facade that they are pursuing. That will never happen.

Because the world defines peace as the absence of conflict of

the absence of suffering. Jesus defines it.

Completely different. The Peace of Jesus is different.

The Peace of the world is contrary to Jesus.

Jesus doesn't promise you in this world, the absence of

conflict. In fact, he says, in this world,

there will be all kinds of trouble.

I'm leaving you with my peace. My personal piece.

My perfect peace. The fact is the world since the

fall of Man has not seen any long span of peace throughout

history. In fact, since they started

recording history of the world has only seen or has seen.

Excuse me, in excess of 12,000 Wars, 12,000 documented Wars, as

not talking about little tribal skirmishes that we know not of

and are not documented in history books.

We're talking about 12,000, major conflicts between In

groups of men was never seen peace.

All the world has seen over 8,000, peace treaties that have

been violated by one side or the other and it's you know this

that there's only been 300 cumulative years of peace upon

this Earth in recorded history, that's 300 years.

Throughout the course of time. He says, not something that man

in and of themselves understands nor do the government of men.

It's country. The perfect piece of Christ

because the first perfect peace of Christ is contrary to the

world's idea of Peace. It is God and it is only God, I

assure you of this who can bring true peace through.

Jesus Christ, who is the Prince of Peace, according to Isaiah

Isaiah 9:6

9:6, one of his titles, one of his many titles, It is only

through Jesus, the prince of peace that the world will ever.

See, true peace. Peace is not going to come by

the signing of a treaty by man's hand.

Pieces going to only come when the foot of Jesus Christ.

Steps down to the Mount of Olives.

When he returns, and he returns triumphantly to bring peace, he

is the prince of peace and he will bring the peace of God with

him. He will bring peace upon this

Earth. Finally the piece that's in once

destroyed, he would bring an end.

That war that began in the garden between man.

And God, he will bring perfect peace.

It is contrary to anything this world has ever seen or known.

World offers only false peace, the hope of Peace, but Jesus

offers true and perfect peace. Contrary to the system of the

world and their ideology that true and perfect.

Peace is constant. And it is unwavering the perfect

piece of Christ is contrary to the world's idea of Peace.

But the perfect peace of Christ is constant and unwavering,

aren't you thankful for that this morning.

Do we met waiver his piece? Never waivers that do we are

inconsistent his pieces consistent?

It's constant is true piece that goes beyond any human

understanding. In fact Paul says that in his

Philippian letter and 4:7 he calls it, the peace that

transcends all human understanding, it doesn't make

human sense. Cause those of us who have been

in turmoil and experience the peace of God, it makes no human

sense but aren't you thankful that it doesn't Because if it

made humans, since it would be human, but it is the piece in

the perfect piece of Christ because what he did for us at

the cross. Did you know it ought to be that

piece that separates us from the world.

It ought to be that piece. That separates us from the

world. Hundreds and hundreds of times.

The scripture tells us not to fear.

Yet the world is in constant fear and God wants us not to

fear. That doesn't mean get your walk

by faith and not, not by fear hat, and put it on and pretend

when you're really anxious. What it means to stop being

anxious. Stop being gripped by the lies

of the enemy stop being gripped, by the things that you see and

walk in the Unseen. By faith.

The promises of God. We're seeing one here from God

through Jesus Christ. Right here.

In Chapter 14 verse 27. It says perfect piece.

Is yours. Sure.

I don't give to you as the world gives.

It's in. Perfect, peace.

I give you perfect. Peace, it's constant.

And it's unwavering It's beyond your human understanding and it

ought to be the thing that sets you apart from this lost Wicked

World. Well the world ought to look to

the believer. And events such as we have had

in modern history. They ought to be asking the

question. Why are you not afraid?

Why are you not bothered by this?

Who which we ought to reply? Our hope is built on nothing

less than Jesus blood and righteousness, I dare not trust

the sweetest frame but wholly lean on Jesus name, on Christ,

the solid rock. I stand all other ground is what

sinking said we live in a world of sinking sand in the world

lights for you to fear with them that they are going to sink.

But I assure you this because of Christ in the consistency and

the constant Peace, that he gives us, we don't have to

succumb to syncing to anxiety and fear.

To be gripped by it. Claim to know Christ in to be

gripped by fear and anxiety is to fail in your understanding of

God's perfect. Peace. when a Christian

willfully chooses to live a life in fear, He by proxy says this.

God's peace. That was offered to me.

And Christ is not greater. Than what I'm going through.

Oh, I know this. I know I'm not going to be

popular for repeating the words of Christ.

That's what I get the most ridicule for.

But it's time that Christian step up and say, here's what we

believe. And we believe this because

Jesus the Christ promised this to us, We believe it and his

promises are all true. Not some of them all of them.

To be gripped by fear and anxiety is to fail in our

understanding of God's perfect. Peace either, his piece is

perfect or it's not. You don't understand how big my

problem is. You obviously don't understand

how big God is. Because I assure you this every

single one of your problem. But the enemy has made, you

think you're the only one who has that particular problem.

Every single one of your problem.

Shrinks in comparison to the goodness of God. this piece is

constant and unwavering Jesus shows us the promised peace of

Christ. The personal peace of Christ,

the perfect peace of Christ. It should separate us from all

of the unbelievers in this world.

But then we move to the next section.

I'll close with this. He says they're in 27.

Peace, I leave with you. My peace.

I give you. I do not give to you as the

world gives. Do not let your hearts be

troubled, and do not be afraid. Do not let your hearts be

troubled. And do not be afraid that

teaches us some things, doesn't it?

If we look at the text, and it's clear and obvious since it

teaches us this, that a Christian could Be consumed by

their fears. That could be consumed by worry

that could be consumed by anxiety but they shouldn't.

They should have been, why should they not?

Because here we see an imperative from the Lord.

If you know anything about the structure of Greek language,

this is the imperative mood. He is giving a command.

And he says, do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be

afraid. Now, we learned just a few

lessons to go, if you love him, you'll want your obey his

command. You mean to tell me in less than

probably 10 or 12 versus. You don't believe that anymore.

What commands we talked about it, everything that he said,

He's telling his disciples here, in the form of a command.

Do not let your hearts. Be troubled.

Why? Because we have no reason to be

troubled of the things of this world.

Our citizenship does not rest here.

This is not our home. We are journeying through this

Cesspool to be taken to the Glorious city of God when we see

that. when we see the truth of that, when we dressed in the

truth of that, when we practice that, Other piece, is it?

The practice piece is telling them.

You've got the practices, you've got to walk in the news.

Jesus teaching them in order to experience the perfect peace of

Christ that I am giving to you. That is my piece.

You must constantly walk in the spirit.

How's Ali walk in the spirit as a spirit has provided for you?

My peace. Many failed to appropriate the

Peace of Christ in their life. What does that mean?

You don't apply it. Oh, no one would argue.

Did he give it? Well yeah, he said he did.

Let me ask you this question. Are you appropriating it?

I'll did you know that's the major breakdown in the American

church. We know the promises of God but

we appropriate. None of them.

We get mad at the preacher when he brings out obvious truth that

Christ spoke because they contradict our way of thinking

on a set of admitting that you think like the world and

repenting of that, you get mad at the messenger.

I would say this to you today. This is not my message.

I simply taking one verse John chapter, 14 written in red to

those Christ loves so that they don't remain in anxiety and

fear, like the rest of this world who is perishing, but they

would walk and hope and Supernatural peace that he has

given to us. He says, do not let your hearts

be troubled, and do not be afraid.

The Peace of Christ for the believer, write this down must

Be embraced as a reality. It must be embraced as a

reality. Write it down.

Write it outside John 14:27. And put an arrow that says

John 14:27

Embrace this reality because I assure you of this, if you don't

embrace the reality that he is speaking of here, you're going

to buy into all of the lies of Satan and the society in which

you live embrace the reality. What Christ is promising here?

His peace must be seen. As a greater reality than your

thoughts fears. I told you before anxiety, is

worrying about something that may happen in the future and may

not Shirley. Surely you can trust in the

reality of the promises of Christ and embrace that reality.

Because for you to Bow and to fear and anxiety, write this

down. Is for you bow to an idol.

That Satan has provided for you to worship.

You say well Pastor, I don't know who you think you are.

Oh, it's not the system of the enemy.

Designed and created according to Isaiah chapter, 14, so that

people will be deceived and to bow down to him.

Instead of the one, true and living God, was not bad.

His desire at his fall. Oh, you bet it was And he is

constantly having many even in the church who are bowing down

to fear and bowing down to anxiety and putting those things

before God. I take you back to Jesus and he

said, if you love me, you will obey my commands.

And you know, one of those commands is have no other gods

before me. I'll preach.

I don't like to think of the anxiety as another God.

Well, he's, it's bigger than God in your life.

Why would you not consider another God?

Is become an idol to so many fear has gripped them.

They wake up every morning not rejoicing in the lord.

Always as Paul said they wake up every morning.

Shredding life dreading what lie ahead, here's the thing, no

matter what lies ahead for us, listen, Believers salvation is

the end result. We will be whole and we will be

complete in the presence of God because of Jesus Christ forever

embrace the reality of the promise of Christ.

The how do you do that by love? Loving the word of God, Psalm

119 the psalmist says this. In verse 165, great peace have

they who love your law all talking about the word of God

the scriptures and nothing can make them stumble.

You want peace in his life. Fall in love with the word of

God get in and see the promises of God Rest in them.

Well I'd rather not rest. You might want to search your

heart. Because there's no greater

Comfort than the to the believer than to know that the true peace

of God. The reality of that rests in and

on and through Us in every situation that we face in life.

How do I know that? Because the word of God promises

me that Brace peace as a reality, by loving the word of

God, by living out the word of God.

Again, appropriating it does you?

No good to memorize all the scripture in the world into

applying none of it. He says, do not let your heart,

be troubled. You want to battle against your

anxiety. Don't go to the doctor.

Find the cure for your anxiety. Go to your knees, open the word

of God. See the truth of the word of

God. Do not let your heart be

troubled, believe in the reality of the promise of Christ.

Who said do not let your heart. Be troubled.

Why? Because my peace resides in you

I know. The emails will be coming.

That's why there's that little trash can on the side of the

email. One might say this.

That they believe that Jesus brings peace in the midst of the

storm, but then their thrust in the midst of the storm.

And they change their mind. It's easy for us to say, Jesus

brings peace. When the Seas look like glass.

Do you trust in the reality of what he said?

Peace and all circumstances, piece that overcomes your

greatest fear. And again, isn't that what

anxiety really is? At the end of the day fear, I

hear people talk to me all the time.

I don't know what it is. I'm just overwhelmed and I'm

gripped by fear does all of a sudden comes out of nowhere.

It doesn't, it comes from the enemy.

I'm just not afraid to tell you the truth.

It comes from the enemy, because if he can keep you gripped, by

your fear, you will not enjoy the fellowship of Christ in the

piece that he has, given you to walk in.

Bracelets reality. And then the Peace of Christ

Bill must be embraced as reality.

Must be exercised relentlessly. I assure you of this, the devil

is not hesitating to attack you in the realm of anxiety and

fear. Do you remember the statistics

that we started with? The world.

It's being attacked by it constantly.

And so we must exercise the Peace of Christ relentlessly.

Matthew chapter 6. Jesus gives us some instructions

about worry and anxiety. He says, this in 25.

Therefore, I tell you here's that phrase.

Again, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or

drink, how you will die, or how you will live, or how you eat,

he's going to take care of all those things.

Watch this. Watch the promises of Christ.

Are they real? Are you just here this morning

playing a game? He says or about your body what

you will wear is not life, more important than food and the body

more important than clothes. Look at the birds of the air.

They do not sow or reap or store away in Barns and yet your

heavenly father feeds them. I assure you the birds right now

out there who are eating the acorns that have fallen from the

trees as they're not gripped with anxiety.

They know that the wind blew the acorn fell and they are now

consuming from the very hand of God, if she has promised to take

care of even though, Them. Are you not much more valuable

than they. The Lord says to his Believers

to his followers. Who of You by worrying can add a

single hour to his life. I can assure you this none of

you. None of you can add to your life

by worrying. In fact, statistics and

Medicine, even show this. You actually drive yourselves to

death through your stress and you're worried and why do you

worry about clothes? See how the Lilies of the Field

grow? They do not labor or spin yet?

I tell you that not even Solomon.

In all his Splendor was dressed like one of those.

If that is, how God clothes the grass of the field, which is

here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he

not much more clothe? You O ye Of little faith.

How do you see the rebuke there from the Lord for the Warriors?

He says, o you of little faith. He then says in verse 31 again

so do not worry saying, what shall we eat?

Or what shall we drink? Or what shall we wear for the

pagans run after all these things and your heavenly father

knows that you need them. He said the pagans worry.

Why is the church worrying filled with anxiety?

Because it's modern Church culture.

Has embraced all sorts of things from the world.

Haven't they? Why not Embrace Their Fear?

He goes on in verse 33 and he says, but seek first, his

kingdom and his righteousness, the kingdom of God, the

righteousness of God, and all these things will be given to

you as well. And he says this in verse 34,

therefore, because of what I told you at pagans are anxious.

And I take care of even the Birds.

I'm going to take care of you. Therefore, do not worry about

tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Oh, hasn't the enemy been very crafty?

And leading many of you to worry about it.

Tomorrow that you're not guaranteed.

Did you know tomorrow is the biggest lie of the enemy.

None of us in this room are guaranteed a tomorrow.

That's why Christ has. Don't worry.

This was your last day on Earth. Would you live it?

An anxious fear. Would you live in an excitement

knowing this? That when you close your eyes,

you will see your savior face-to-face?

And isn't that what we should be longing for isn't that the cure

to every fear and worry that we would have?

This Promise of peace from Christ must be exercised

relentlessly. The psalmist said in Psalm 34 14

to seek peace and pursue it run after it.

How many of you run after anxiety?

Many of you turn the news on just to find out what it is that

you can worry about today? What's going on now?

Your phone gives you this little tone and all of a sudden the

news is telling you the skies falling again, isn't it

interesting that even the weather channel has jumped on

this bandwagon? Right.

There's going to be a quarter inch of rain.

They act as if Noah's flood is happening.

Again, it's a quarter inch of rain, we need it.

The farmers are thankful for and I assure you, they want more

than that. Seek, peace and pursue it.

If you're not actively seeking, peace and pursuing a nice

through this anxiety is going to seek you out.

Fear is going to seek you out. Worry is going to come at you

with full Fury. Resting.

As we exercise these things relentlessly in the peace of God

in Christ. Oh, what a place to rest, rest

there. Resting there and remembering,

Jesus promise, don't forget that.

What is he promised? He promised us.

Peace constant piece Supernatural peace.

A piece of we can rest in a by 10 dressed in that piece.

Remember what Jesus said, take him to the bank, I assure you.

He can cash every check. He has written.

Hebrews chapter 12 tells us this verse 2, it says to fix our eyes

our eyes on Jesus, the author and Perfecter of our faith, who

for the joy, that was set before him, he endured the cross.

Scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the Throne

of God, he endured suffering so that you can walk in perfect,

peace, exercise, it relentlessly walk in it, Peter reminds us in

Matthew chapter 14 Of just what happens when are anxious.

Thoughts. Get the best of us.

Matthew chapter, 14, we all are familiar with the story.

I hope at least. In verse 29, we see as Peter

there before, 29 request of the Lord to come out on the water

because he saw the Lord approaching walking on the

water. He said, Lord, if that's, you

didn't me to come to you. There's 29.

Come he said, Lord said, okay, come on Peter, then Peter got

out of the boat, walked on the water.

And came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was

afraid and beginning to sink Cried Out.

Lord, save me. Immediately Jesus reached out

his hand and caught him you of little faith.

There's that phrase again. He said, why did you doubt?

You know why he doubted? It's obvious.

Why he doubted? Jesus is asking a rhetorical

question. Why did he die out?

He became anxious, he took his eyes off of Christ.

And what did he do? He started looking at the wind,

he started looking at the waves, he started looking at

everything, crashing in around him, forgetting that the Savior

said, Peter come, let's take care of you.

Oh, how gracious? We see the Lord here.

Peter began to sink the Lord reached out and saved him.

Aren't you thankful that he doesn't just save you once that

he continually saves you from yourself.

Because we've all been there, haven't we?

We didn't have her eyes fixed on Jesus.

We fixed our eyes on, whatever it was that caused us to be

fearful whatever unchartered territory we had never been

before. And I tell you this, the Peace

of Jesus Christ does not change with those variables in your

life. Piece of Jesus Christ.

It's perfect. It's complete.

It should be practiced. Exercise.

Relentlessly, not taking your eyes off of Jesus.

Fixing your eyes on him, the author and the Perfecter of your

faith Isaiah 26:3. The prophet says this piece.

Isaiah 26:3

For the steadfast mind is for those who trust in the Lord.

Now watch what he says in Isaiah 26.

Verse 38, you will keep in perfect, peace, him, whose mind

is steadfast because he trusts in you, what an offer he is for

the steadfast mind who was trusting in Christ.

I can tell you what the opposite of that is even for you who are

believers here today. You begin to trust in what you

see and not what, you know by faith. you're going to be

stripped of that piece, you're going to succumb to fear and

doubt and worry and anxiety and I'm sure if you go to the right

person who's really the wrong person, They'll tell you 15

different ways to treat it. Jesus says, there's only one

Come unto me. All you who are weary and heavy

laden. I'll give you rest.

You want peace. Come to Christ.

When the peace of God come to Christ.

You want peace with God, come to Christ.

You want the peace? That surpasses, our transcends

all understanding it's found only in Christ and Christ Alone.

Are you actively seeking that piece?

What did the believer? Paul says in Philippians chapter

Philippians 4 · chapter mention

4, I read part of it or quoted part of it, a moment ago, but

verse 6 and 7 says this in chapter 4 Philippians, do not be

anxious about anything. You don't understand Pastor.

Anything, maybe you don't understand the word anything.

It's pretty simple. It means anything in the Greek.

Nothing zilch nada He says do not be anxious about anything

but in everything by prayer and petition with Thanksgiving what

a statement with Thanksgiving but I'm in the midst of my

greatest Triumph, thank him for it, it's going to be your

greatest growth. It's going to be your greatest

growth. That's what James says, count it

all joy. When You Face Trials of many

kinds, I'll be afraid. Rest in the Peace of Christ.

Do not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and

petition with Thanksgiving, we're reading as a staff Thomas

Watson's book, The Godly Man's picture.

We read this week. How a Godly Man is a faithful

man. Oh, I promise you this you want

your anxious thoughts and fears to go away?

It's you out of pen and paper and write down all the reasons

you have to be thankful unto God in Jesus Christ.

And I promise you this, your fears from this world will

quickly pass away. Are you exercising, piece

relentlessly. Are you seeking it?

Because again, as I have said, the - with every one of these

points, I will say the negative with this one to be gripped by

fear and anxiety. Watch, this is to flagrantly.

Disregard the command of Jesus. Flagrantly disregard it is to

read. Do not let your heart be

troubled and do not be afraid. And to say, I want to do what I

want to do and I'm going to do what I want to do.

Anyways, can I tell you this? It's no different than you

ignoring his command. Not to steal.

Not to murder. Not to commit adultery, not to

covet. It's no different to ignore a

command is to ignore. Come and do you love him?

He said you will obey what I command.

Shortly after that, he said, do not let your hearts be troubled,

and do not be afraid Master. You don't understand the reality

of a, my anxiety. You don't understand that the

deception of your anxiety, But you've never been anxious or

discourage really think so. I'd let you try to do my job for

a week, but I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

What must I do? I must a believe the deception

of Satan and walk in it be destroyed or be the only true

option for the believer. Not let my heart be troubled and

do not be afraid. Why can I do that?

Because of the promise. Peace of Christ.

He has promised me, peace. He's not going to fail and that

promise of how about the personal peace of Christ,

because the front of the piece that he gives me, is the exact

piece that sustained, Jesus himself, it lives inside of me.

Why would I ever friend in the face of death?

You didn't friend? But he rested in that piece.

O, the practiced, the promised, peace, the personal peace, the

perfect piece. Why do I not worry?

It's pieces. Perfect.

It's perfect. So I'm not experiencing that in

my life, you don't believe it, you don't have it.

One, or the other. Then the practice piece of

Christ. I want to wake up every day and

I want to practice his speech to say Lord.

I don't know what's going to happen today.

But I asked your piece would guard my heart and whatever

happens today. Jesus said, Peace, I leave with

you. My peace.

I give you. I do not give to you as the

world gives. Do not let your hearts be

troubled and do not be afraid we were to put this in.

Simple terms as we prepare to close this out this morning.

I would tell you this. There's nowhere in this world.

There is nothing in this world that will bring you peace from

God. But Christ, In one can find

true. Peace.

Peace with God. Peace from God.

Only by the grace of God, which was offered to us at the cross

2000 years ago, where Jesus bled and he died in our place, it is

through this cruel sacrifice. That he has brought peace to all

who will by faith trust in him peace in this life.

And peace for all eternity because of the promise that

Jesus makes here in John 14:27. So, I'd say this to you

John 14:27

believers. Rest your anxious Hearts rest,

your anxious hearts, and the peace, that surpasses all

understanding that is found in Christ, rest, in that piece to

the unbeliever, I would say to you.

You will not have pieced. You will not have peace.

Until you have Christ. My prayer for you is this that

today he would open graciously, open your eyes to your need for

him. And he would reveal to you that

you are a sinner and there is no peace in your life but only

turmoil and judgment and wrath that awaits you and that today

as he shows you his grace and his Mercy he would Empower you

to cry out to Jesus and repentance.

That you would believe truly for the very first time.

In Jesus Christ as your lord and savior.

And that you would let your faith rest in him in the

finished work that he accomplished through his death,

his burial and his resurrection. If you don't know, Christ.

You have no hope of peace. Perhaps you're anxious today,

full of anxiety as you've never surrendered to Christ.

Would you trust him today to forgive you of your sin to

cleanse? You from all unrighteousness?

Would you be saved today? Christian rejoice in the piece

that he died for you to have its pray together.

Father, in the name of Jesus, we do come to you, thanking you for

your truth. Lord, Your Truth cancels out

every single lie. This world wants to tell us

about this subject and we rest in your truth and your truth

alone. What I pray for my brothers and

sisters who are in Christ here today, they would hear your

words. Do not let your heart be

troubled and do not be afraid. And that they would trust and

the perfect promised peace of Jesus Christ.

They would walk out. Their Fear and their anxiety and

they're worried. They would walk and total peace

with you and Lord, I pray for those who do not know Christ

today. By your grace and your mercy.

You would show them. You would show them that they

are wretched in your sight because of their sin. and that

they have great reason to fear of the Judgment that is to come

But it is in you, and you alone to that this very day.

Were they to turn their hearts to you in faith and repentance?

Their Eternal Destiny. Not be a destiny of Wrath and

hell, but a destiny of forgiveness and eternal life,

because of what, you've promised, but you draw the

center unto yourself today. And may they repent, and believe

on Christ as their lord and savior.

We pray, and we ask these things in Christ's name.
