  5. see you in person on Sunday mornings at either 9 a.m. or 11

  6. a.m. Now, let's open God's word and

  7. ask him to reveal his truths for our lives.

  8. If you want to go ahead and turn into the 15th chapter of John's

  9. gospel, as we look at a message entitled to day life in the

  10. True, Vine lies in the True Vine.

  11. We're going to see here in this fifteenth chapter of John Jesus

  12. last. I am statement those of you who

  13. have been in the study for any amount of time.

  14. You have seen the importance of the I am statements of Christ.

  15. He took that Greek term, ego eimi and he coupled it with

  16. descriptions of himself. Many of those descriptions being

  17. borrowed from the Old Testament types and pictures that we saw.

  18. If you would take that term Eggo I me which was establishing

  19. himself as Jehovah God in flesh. That statement I am was borrowed

  20. and it was borrowed from the Old Testament.

  21. We know they're at the burning bush.

  22. When God had his conversation with Moses and he commissioned

  23. Moses and Moses says, when I tell him all these instructions,

  24. who do I tell them? Sent me, he said, you tell him.

  25. I am that. I am sent you.

  26. It is Jehovah. God, Yahweh who sent you and

  27. Jesus borrows that statement. Yahweh from the Old Testament

  28. egg. Oh, I I me, I am and we've seen

  29. many of his I am statements in the study through John.

  30. We're going to look as I said at the last one today, which is

  31. very important. But in chapter 6, if we were to

  32. take a quick review, we saw the first one.

  33. Where Jesus said, I am the bread of life ego, eimi.

  34. Yahweh is the bread of life and I am a he always standing here

  35. before you the bread of life. He compared himself to the

  36. picture of the Mana during the time of The Exodus in the

  37. wilderness. He said that was pointing to me

  38. and now I'm here, John chapter 8, we see Jesus in a second.

    John 8 chapter mention

  39. I am statement. He said, I am the light of the

  40. world. I'm the one who exposes the

  41. darkness. Okay, he borrows from the Old

  42. Testament where he would be that Pillar of Fire by Night leading

  43. God's people. He says, I am the light of the

  44. world chapter 10, Jesus makes another.

  45. I am statement. He says, I am the door and

  46. making the statement that I am the door.

  47. He was stressing that he is the only entrance in the only access

  48. to fellowship with the father. He's the door, the only access

  49. and he took us again in our minds, back to the Old Testament

  50. where you would go into the temple.

  51. And there was that location of the holy of holies, which was a

  52. picture of the dwelling of God, and there was one curtain one

  53. door. Jesus says, I am the door and

  54. the door that allows you to access fellowship with the

  55. father. Then we see again in chapter 10

  56. and his next, I am statement. He said, I am the Good Shepherd

  57. and I guarantee you this every Jewish boy and every Jewish

  58. girl, who was listening to the preaching of Jesus, on this

  59. immediately had their minds turn to the 23rd.

  60. Psalm We're just stated the Lord, is my shepherd, the Lord

  61. is my shepherd, He wanted them to understand that Shepherd that

  62. the psalmist pointed to it. Is he the Christ, he said ego,

  63. eimi, the Good Shepherd and the Good Shepherd, then in the 11th

  64. chapter There at the tomb of Lazarus.

  65. Lord proclaimed. This he said, I am the

  66. resurrection and the life that there is no resurrection, and

  67. there is no true life apart from me, I am the resurrection, I am

  68. Yahweh who brings life to the dead, just as Isaiah and

  69. Ezekiel, both testified, during their Earthly Ministry, he

  70. testified that he is truly The god of the living, the god of

  71. the dead, he brings the dead life.

  72. Then in chapter 14, we see Jesus.

  73. Make the next, I am statement one that we are very familiar

  74. with. He said I am the way, the truth

  75. and the life. I am the way to the father.

  76. I am the true way to the father and I am alive from the father

  77. and no Man comes to the father, but by me, he says by Design.

  78. I am the way, the truth, and the life.

  79. In each of these statements, Jesus was declaring for us

  80. again, his deity, the fact that he truly was God incarnate, who

  81. laid down his full Glory only to be veiled in his Humanity, still

  82. being fully, God and fully man. We know that the illogically as

  83. the hypostatic union and you can't make it make human sense

  84. because it's so Supernatural. It that is who he truly.

  85. Is. And here in this fifteenth

  86. chapter he is going to give another one.

  87. Remember the setting of where we are.

  88. We are leaving the upper room after last week.

  89. You said, come now let us leave he's leaving the safety of the

  90. upper room and he's taking his first step toward the cross

  91. after that Passover, his first step toward becoming the

  92. sacrificial lamb, that the very Passover that they had just

  93. observed pointed to and somewhere between, That Upper

  94. Room. There in the Garden of

  95. Gethsemane where he would be betrayed with a kiss, be

  96. unjustly, arrested unjustly accused unjustly, tried and

  97. unjustly murdered somewhere between there in the Garden of

  98. Gethsemane. Jesus teaches another lesson to

  99. his disciples. He teaches that lesson with

  100. this. I am statement I am The True

  101. Vine. I am the True Vine.

  102. Jesus is going to take an analogy or a metaphor and he's

  103. going to describe some things to his disciples.

  104. He's going to in his description counter all of the false

  105. ideology of the day. The false ideology of the day

  106. said that Israel is the true vine.

  107. They are the ones who are truly connected to God and if you're

  108. not connected, To Israel, if you're not a Jew or a converted

  109. Jew to Judaism, then you are not connected to the vine of God at

  110. all. Jesus is going to contradict the

  111. common ideology of Judaism. Along with his Proclamation that

  112. he is the true vine. He's also going to explain

  113. exactly what that means. Exactly what that means and

  114. exactly who this lesson pertains to.

  115. And why it pertains to them. He's going to answer questions

  116. for us. Who are the dead branches?

  117. Who are the fruit? Bearing branches.

  118. What does all of the details of this passage?

  119. What does it mean to us? And what does it teaching us?

  120. We put it in its context. We're going to see exactly what

  121. it means. What Jesus is teaching here.

  122. So let's turn there together in John chapter 15 verse 1.

    John 15:1

  123. Now read verse 1, all the way to the verse 8 and then we will

  124. come back and discuss. The Lord is teaching here.

  125. He said, I am the True Vine and my father is the gardener he

  126. cuts off every branch in me, that bears, no fruit, while

  127. every branch that does bear fruit, he prunes so that it will

  128. be even more fruitful You are already clean because of the

  129. word I have spoken to. You remain in me and I will

  130. remain in you no Branch can bear.

  131. Fruit by itself it must remain in the vine and neither.

  132. Can you bear fruit unless you remain in me?

  133. I am the vine and you are the branches.

  134. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit.

  135. Apart from me, you can do nothing.

  136. Then if anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that

  137. is thrown away. And Withers, such branches are

  138. picked up and thrown into the fire and burned.

  139. If you remain in me and my words, remain in, you ask,

  140. whatever you wish and it will be given you.

  141. This is to my father's Glory that you bear much fruit.

  142. Here's the important thing in the key to interpreting this

  143. correctly, the last statement here showing yourselves to be my

  144. disciples. I want you to understand this

  145. teaching comes on the heels. Of Lazarus, the apostate who is

  146. never a True Believer at, although he appeared to be in

  147. the vine, all of the other disciples were shocked that he

  148. wasn't in the Vine. And this is coming right on the

  149. fact that Judas has left to betray Christ and this is the

  150. disciples in Christ himself for the first time in Jesus Earthly

  151. Ministry after the calling of his disciples.

  152. The first time that they would make a public appearance without

  153. Judas. Iscariot And as he's known and

  154. everything that he's taught, he knows the hearts and the minds

  155. of his followers. Was Judas a Believer who lost

  156. salvation. We're going to see that's

  157. absolutely not the case as many want to distort, this passage to

  158. say. Was Judas once a part of the

  159. vine and then his bad Deeds. Made him.

  160. Not a part of the vine. That's not what this passage is

  161. going to say. Was it that Judas was an

  162. apostate from the beginning? Never a True Believer.

  163. Never truly coming to saving faith in Jesus Christ.

  164. Only playing a role, a dead branch.

  165. Hiding out in the living Vine. We're going to see that.

  166. That is more accurately. The depiction that Jesus is

  167. going to paint for us here. He would not paint the picture

  168. of anything less than eternal security, because John has

  169. established. And in the last 14 chapters that

  170. no one shall pluck. You, if you are truly in Christ,

  171. from the father's hand, and so we see here, there's a

  172. theological debate that surrounds this passage and it's

  173. like any other theological debate that surrounds any

  174. passage. It's because we don't put it in

  175. its proper context. We must put this in the context

  176. of chapter 15, but we must also put it in the context of John.

  177. We must also put it in the context of the entirety of

  178. scripture. if you are truly his by faith and faith alone, you

  179. will always be sure and Lee his So when John chapter 15, we see

    John 15 chapter mention

  180. the first thing that I want us to pick close attention to today

  181. in verse one that small first part of one, the vine of Christ.

  182. The vine of Christ Jesus says I am the True Vine.

  183. Now in saying that I am the True.

  184. Vine Christ is distinguishing himself first, he still

  185. distinguishing himself as God when he says I am he's letting

  186. them know. Once again you have nothing to

  187. fear, you do not need to be troubled.

  188. I know all things, I see all things, I'm Sovereign over all

  189. things. I am.

  190. Oh, to here, that should have been great rest for his

  191. disciples to know that the Great I Am.

  192. Incarnate. Was there with them on this

  193. darkest of nights? And he lets them know.

  194. I am distinguishing himself as God once again, as if we have

  195. not seen this enough in John's gospel, do you think that John's

  196. intention was to highlight for us?

  197. The deity of the Lord. Jesus Christ.

  198. I assure you. It was Here's John.

  199. I am the True Vine. Quoting Christ. so that we

  200. understand that he is distinguishing himself as God,

  201. but not only that as the True Vine, As the True Vine he does

  202. this as a word of warning to his audience.

  203. Please go back and research this his audience.

  204. Were Jewish men had. He's speaking to here who their

  205. whole lives. They have been taught in error

  206. that God loves the Jew and he doesn't love anyone else.

  207. That you must be. In Judaism or you're not in

  208. fellowship with God, you must obey the law or you have no

  209. relationship with God. Here Jesus is going to teach

  210. them something. Something in this one statement

  211. he's saying I am the True Vine. It is a word of caution.

  212. Why is it a word of caution? Because he's cautioning them

  213. against false or counterfeit Vines, Israel still thinking

  214. That they were the vine of God. Had already rejected their

  215. savior. Had already.

  216. Made a conscious decision to remain in a state of unbelief.

  217. He's conscious, he's causing them to be conscious of the fact

  218. that there is And there are false and counterfeit Vine

  219. specifically here. Talking about Israel, who was

  220. once. The vine of God.

  221. Jesus uses an analogy here to draw a distinction between

  222. himself and apostate. Israel, those who didn't have

  223. any true Faith at all. Who were just going through the

  224. motions living. A legalistic standard, always

  225. falling short. Can I assure you in this and

  226. promise you this? Today if you live tried to live

  227. up to a legalistic standard, you will always fall short.

  228. That is why it is imperative that we preach, the grace of

  229. God, in Salvation in the grace of God, in Salvation, Alone.

  230. Jesus painting this picture for them of the True.

  231. Vine is using this metaphor to distinguish himself from

  232. apostate. Israel did you know the Old

  233. Testament confirms that Israel was once referred to as a vine

  234. in fact, in Isaiah chapter 5 verse 1, It's as I will sing for

    Isaiah 5:1

  235. the one. I love a song about his

  236. Vineyard. My loved one had a Vineyard on a

  237. fertile Hillside and he dug it up and clear to the stones and

  238. planted it with the choicest vines, and he built a watchtower

  239. in it and cut out a wine press as well, then he looked for a

  240. crop of good grapes, put it yielded only bad fruit?

  241. Oh, that's consistent with Jesus.

  242. Teaching that a good tree Bears. Good fruit and a bad tree, only

  243. Bears, Bad fruit. Now you dwellers in Jerusalem

  244. and Men of Judah judge between me and my Vineyard, what more

  245. could could have been done for my Vineyard than I have done for

  246. it. When I looked for good grapes.

  247. Why did it yield only bad? Now, I will tell you what I'm

  248. going to do to my Vineyard. I will take away its hedge, and

  249. it will be destroyed. I will break down its wall, and

  250. it will be trampled. I will make it a wasteland,

  251. neither pruned or cultivated, and Briars and thorns.

  252. Thorns will grow there and I will command the clouds not to

  253. rain on it. The vineyard of the Lord

  254. Almighty is the house of Israel. And the men of Judah are the

  255. garden of his delight. And he looked for justice, but

  256. he saw Bloodshed for righteousness, but heard cries

  257. of distress, Jeremiah says this in Jeremiah chapter, 2

  258. referencing the Vine, Was 21. He said I had planted you like a

  259. choice. Vine of sound and reliable

  260. stock. How then did you turn against me

  261. into a corrupt wild Vine? He's pointing out the unbelief

  262. in the apostasy of Israel. I planted you with promises and

  263. with the word. And yet, your yielding.

  264. Corrupt crops like a wild Vine. Psalm 80.

  265. The psalmist writes this as we have already read in our

  266. scripture reading for the day, you brought a vine out of Egypt,

  267. you drove out the nation's and planted it.

  268. You cleared the ground for it and took root and filled the

  269. land. The mountains were covered with

  270. its shade in the mighty Cedars with its branches.

  271. It sent out its bows to the see it's shoots as far as the river.

  272. Why have you broken down? Its walls so that all who pass

  273. by pickets grapes bors from the forest.

  274. Ravaged, it creatures of the field feet on it.

  275. Return To Us. Oh God.

  276. Almighty. Look down from heaven and see,

  277. watch over this Vine. The root, your right hand has

  278. planted the sun. You have raised up for yourself.

  279. Your Vine is cut down. It is burned with fire at the

  280. rebuke at your rebuke, your people perish.

  281. Boy, once fruitful Vine known as Israel.

  282. Was now a waste land because of unbelief because of idolatry

  283. because of sin. They were no longer that choice

  284. Vine that the vinedresser had planted their Jesus is making

  285. this distinction and it's a very important many times when we go

  286. to the Old Testament for references when many lose

  287. interest don't lose interest. Science, sure, you can't

  288. understand the New Testament, less you read it in light of the

  289. Old Testament and it is Christ. They're saying to them, What you

  290. think is the true vine? It's not the True Vine at all.

  291. In fact, what was once that vine?

  292. That was flourishing? As departed in unbelief.

  293. John chapter 1. We saw this here in verse 11,

    John 1 chapter mention

  294. speaking of Jesus, he came to that which was his own Israel.

  295. But his own did not receive him. Why did they not receive him?

  296. I mean, we've seen it over and over again.

  297. In John's gospel, how can they deny that Jesus was truly the

  298. Messiah. He made it evident Because they

  299. were in a state of darkness and unbelief no longer end, the True

  300. Vine, Matthew chapter 21, Jesus gives us another Parable in

    Matthew 21 chapter mention

  301. reference to the vine using these agrarian terms if you

  302. would flip over there to Matthew chapter 21 and we're going to

    Matthew 21 chapter mention

  303. read it together. Verse 33 to 43.

  304. He says, listen to another Parable.

  305. There was a landowner who planted a Vineyard and put a

  306. wall around it, dug a winepress in it and built a watchtower.

  307. Then he rented the vendor to some farmers and went away on a

  308. journey. When the Harvest Time

  309. approached, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his

  310. fruit attendants, seized his servants, they beat one killed

  311. another and stoned a third, and then he sent other servants to

  312. them more than the first time in the tenets.

  313. Treated them the same way. Last of all, pay attention to

  314. what Jesus is saying here. Last of all, he sent his son to

  315. them, they will respect my son, he said, but when the tenants

  316. saw the sun, they said to each other, this is the air, come,

  317. let's kill him. Take his inheritance so they

  318. took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.

  319. Therefore, when the owner of the Vineyard comes, what will he do

  320. to those tenants, he will bring those wretches to a wretched

  321. end, they replied and he will rent The Vineyard to other

  322. tenants, who will give him his share of the crop and harvest

  323. time. He's talking about the inclusion

  324. of the Gentiles here. Don't miss it.

  325. Jesus said to them, have you never read the scriptures?

  326. The stone. The builders rejected has become

  327. the Capstone, the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our

  328. eyes. Therefore, I tell you that the

  329. kingdom of God will be taken away from you.

  330. Who's he talking to? He's talking about Israel?

  331. Who thinks in this time that they are still Divine, it will

  332. be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its

  333. fruit. Their Jesus is again.

  334. Speaking of the production of fruit, And so we see Jesus is

  335. making sure that he is distinguished.

  336. From the counterfeit Vine from the vine, who was still

  337. pretending to be in God, when they're not in God at all, they

  338. have chased after idolatry and sexual immorality.

  339. They're in fact because of their unbelieving.

  340. Hearts cut off from everything that is God.

  341. Jesus is making it very clear, cautioning them that he is the

  342. true vine. He is that true vine.

  343. He is cautioning them of that fact, warning them if you would

  344. Jesus hears establishing the reality known as true Israel.

  345. The true people of promise. Those are the ones who have

  346. faith in Christ. Those are the ones.

  347. Were truly in Christ, not by observing the law.

  348. Not by fulfilling the law, not because of their lineage, or

  349. their Heritage, or their traditions.

  350. They are of the True Vine only by grace alone, through faith

  351. alone, in Christ alone, apart from any human effort or human

  352. religion. In fact, Paul addresses this in

  353. Galatians chapter 2. Verse 16 says, I know that a man

    Galatians 2 chapter mention

  354. is not justified by observing the law but by faith in Jesus

  355. Christ. So we too have put our faith in

  356. Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and

  357. not by observing the law because Bible observing the law, no one

  358. will be justified. He's making that very clear.

  359. That's what Jesus is doing here in John's fifteenth chapter,

  360. he's making it very clear that you will not be justified by

  361. observing the law. That's not being a part of the

  362. True Vine. I am the True Vine just as I am

  363. the way and the truth and the life.

  364. No man comes to the father, but by me, so he's cautioning

  365. against false or counterfeit vines that may arise.

  366. Paul addresses, that in Romans chapter 9, he says this in verse

    Romans 9 chapter mention

  367. 6, it's not as though God's word had failed for not all who are

  368. descended from Israel or Israel. Nor because they are

  369. descendants. Are they Abraham's children?

  370. Watch what he says here on the contrary.

  371. Jesus is saying, on the contrary, though you think that

  372. your lineage and your heritage through Judaism is the key to

  373. knowing god. On the contrary It is through

  374. Isaac that your Offspring will be reckoned.

  375. In other words, it is not the natural children who are God's

  376. children, meaning, natural Israel, those are can trace

  377. their Roots all the way to Abraham as these people in his.

  378. They thought he's saying it's not those children but it is the

  379. children of Promise who are regarded as Abraham's offspring,

  380. what does that promise? That promise is eternal life,

  381. and forgiveness of sin, and salvation in Christ, and In

  382. Christ Alone. Use caution against falsehood

  383. counterfeit Vines. He's also calling attention to

  384. his exclusivity to his exclusivity.

  385. I know that's a word. We don't like to use that.

  386. Jesus is the exclusive and only way to the father but he is

  387. nothing is going to change that he's using this metaphor to

  388. remind them of this. There's but one true vine. and I

  389. am, he and I am alone. I am the True Vine.

  390. You have no connection to God. Apart from Jesus, me say that

  391. again, so that everyone can hear you have no connection to God

  392. apart from Jesus. Now, before you get liberal in

  393. your thinking, let me tell you what the liberal theologians

  394. say, aren't we? All just children of God.

  395. No. We're not just all children of

  396. God, you must be graciously placed into the vine of Jesus

  397. Christ, so that you bear fruit for God.

  398. If he doesn't graciously place you there, you are not a child

  399. of God, you're a child of sin, and you were a child of Satan.

  400. Just as I once was before, I was redeemed in Christ.

  401. He's calling their attention to his exclusivity.

  402. Why it's important that you see that today?

  403. Wasn't popular, then. It's not popular now.

  404. You know, this that under the Roman persecution Christians

  405. were not killed and martyred and persecuted because they followed

  406. Christ. But it was because they followed

  407. Christ alone, though, they would have accepted their Jesus.

  408. Had their Jesus been seen as another God, or another goddess

  409. or some other type of Idol. But Christians were persecuted

  410. under the Romans, because they would not bow to Artemis.

  411. They would not bow to the Roman Emperor.

  412. They would not bow to the Greek gods and goddesses that have

  413. carried over from the Greek culture.

  414. They were persecuted because of their stance in Christ alone.

  415. It is an exclusive message in any other gospel.

  416. That is preached. That is not exclusively limited

  417. to Christ and Christ alone for salvation is not a Biblical

  418. gospel. The American ideology that says

  419. we're all just trying to get to God in our own way.

  420. Your own way, is going to send you directly to hell.

  421. Do not pass go and do not collect $200.

  422. But it is in Christ alone. His teaching his disciples.

  423. I am the True Vine. There is no other I know when we

  424. take that stand in our culture, today, we are quickly hated,

  425. aren't we? Quickly hate it.

  426. But we must remind people. But if they're not in Christ,

  427. they're enemies of God, they are alienated from God, they are cut

  428. off from God. Just as I, once was before, I

  429. was included in Christ. Say that seems harsh cautions

  430. 1:21 says. Once you were alienated from

  431. God, And we're enemies in your mind's because of your evil

  432. Behavior. I assure you and guarantees this

  433. fact that when Kirk Hall was in his sin, I was cut off from a

  434. holy God. I was alienated from him and I

  435. was his enemy because of my wickedness, I am thankful that

  436. God in his sovereignty. Love love one of his enemies

  437. enough to rescue me from myself. The grant me forgiveness and

  438. mercy so that I could be included in this True.

  439. Vine of Jesus Christ, there's but one way to God, Jesus is

  440. making that clear. Once again that way is the true

  441. vine. Jesus is that true vine.

  442. It is from him that all blessings from God.

  443. The Father flow is from him that we access everything from the

  444. father, his grace, his Mercy, his forgiveness.

  445. Eveness his adoption as Sons and Daughters is reconciliation.

  446. His Redemption. His restoration has promised

  447. eternal life. Those we sing just a moment ago,

  448. Jesus Christ Our Living, Hope the hope that we have flows from

  449. the one true vine. Jesus Christ is the vine of

  450. Christ. How important it is that we see

  451. that today as he starts this text with that then.

  452. Secondly, we see the father's cutting.

  453. Fathers cutting verse 1. The second part he says, I am

  454. the True Vine and my father is the gardener and this analogy,

  455. he places the father and the position of the gardener so that

  456. we can understand this. And he says this, he cuts off

  457. every branch in me, that bears, no fruit, while every branch

  458. that does bear fruit, he prunes so that it will be even more

  459. fruitful He then tells his disciples, you are already clean

  460. because of the word I have spoken to you.

  461. What is Jesus saying here? He's saying that the gardener,

  462. the father. He cuts, I want us to examine

  463. the father's cutting here today because it's often misunderstood

  464. he caught. Well, how could such a loving

  465. soft and weak impotent, God, that we have created in our mind

  466. in the culture that we live in? How could he cut anything watch?

  467. It's obvious how he cuts Hebrews chapter 4 tells us this.

    Hebrews 4 chapter mention

  468. Describing the word of God for us for the word of God. 4:12 is

  469. living and active sharper than any double-edged sword.

  470. It penetrates even even to dividing Soul and Spirit joints

  471. and Marrow. It judges the thoughts and

  472. attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is

  473. hidden from God's sight, everything is uncovered and laid

  474. bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account the

  475. father does. Cutting, it seems appropriate

  476. that he would do the cutting with the sword of his word.

  477. What is this time? We entertained.

  478. The thought the sword of the word.

  479. It's seen through scripture as a sword.

  480. We talked about the word of God, it cuts here, the author of

  481. Hebrews describing it as a double-edged sword.

  482. Could it be that one Edge is for the purging of the unbelievers?

  483. The other Edge is for the pruning of the true believers.

  484. I find a consistent with scripture.

  485. I could find a consistent with this analogy that Jesus is

  486. making. Let's look at that first as the

  487. father cuts. Let's look at the purging of the

  488. father's knife. The purging of the father's, not

  489. if it's by his word. That God, justly removes and

  490. condemns, the wicked and the unbelieving.

  491. One day at that, great, white Throne, judgement by his word.

  492. The wicked will be condemned forever.

  493. Did you know even in our time when his word is complaint

  494. proclaimed. When it is preached, there will

  495. be a constant purging of unbelievers, even from within

  496. our fellowship. I have confidence in this and we

  497. preach the word of God, unashamedly.

  498. People will either believe or they'll leave.

  499. And when they leave because they cannot endure sound Doctrine and

  500. sound teaching, I assure you have promise you.

  501. We will not chase after them. Because it is through the word,

  502. the father is purging them. He say, well, Pastor don't you

  503. think that we ought to make our church a place for the lost?

  504. People can come in and feel comfortable.

  505. Absolutely not. It's contrary to scripture, the

  506. church is for the believer. The Believers are to come here

  507. to be strengthened by the word of God.

  508. We're going to see in a moment, pruned, so that you can go out

  509. and you can share the gospel. Purging, the wicked from the

  510. world, and bringing them into the church, not the opposite of

  511. that. Well, I just believe in being a

  512. little more Seeker, sensitive not me.

  513. I believe in being a little more gospel-centered.

  514. Because there's no lost. Wicked person who seeks God.

  515. There's no no one righteous. No, not one.

  516. No one seeks after him as Paul declares in Romans.

  517. The father's word purges, when his word is proclaimed.

  518. There's a purging that takes place, John chapter 6, we see

    John 6 chapter mention

  519. this, John 6:65, if we go back there in our minds and remember

    John 6:65

  520. when we were studying through John, chapter 6 and verse 65, we

    John 6 chapter mention

  521. saw this, he said he went on to say, this is why I told you that

  522. no one can come to me unless the father has enabled him.

  523. Jesus preaching on Sovereign Grace there.

  524. That no one can come to him unless the father and Abel's

  525. them to come. It can't be any clearer than

  526. that. Watch what it says in verse 66,

  527. Jesus preached, the hard truth of the sovereignty of God in

  528. Salvation. Watch What Happens Next from

  529. this time, many of his disciples turned back and no longer

  530. followed him. We must ask the question.

  531. Why did they no longer follow him?

  532. Because the word of God purge them.

  533. They refuse to believe the truth of the word of God.

  534. They were purged. By The Cutting that double-edged

  535. sword. Make no mistake here.

  536. Word of God. Purge them make no mistake.

  537. It is the word of God. That purged Judas.

  538. That poser, that imitator. Just prior to the upper room

  539. discourse as we saw as we traveled through John, it was

  540. his word that purging. It was Jesus who said go do what

  541. you have to do and by the word that was spoken from Christ

  542. Judas left. Jesus told him to do something.

  543. He purged him from within. His word is constantly

  544. separating. and purging the goats from the Sheep purging the

  545. goats from the Sheep, the True Believers from the false

  546. believer, But isn't this the danger of modern Christianity?

  547. Modern Christianity, distorts the word of God, so much that it

  548. doesn't offend anyone not even an unbeliever.

  549. You're an unbeliever here today. It ought to offend you because

  550. I'm going to tell you the truth. You are a sinner, you're

  551. destined to hell and judgment apart from a gracious.

  552. God saving you this morning that ought to bother you.

  553. I pray that it bothers you to the depths of your soul, as the

  554. word of God Cuts. You is there's two ways that he

  555. could Purge. He can Purge You by sending you

  556. out this last time. Never to hear the gospel again.

  557. You stepping off in and drifting off into final apostasy just as

  558. Judas did. And he could the preaching of

  559. the Gospel today. Purge you from darkness and

  560. bring you into light, but is the cutting of his word that does it

  561. in modern Christianity. We don't want to offend anyone

  562. with the word of God. We have to clean it up.

  563. Seemingly apologize for God on every difficult issue.

  564. I'm thankful that I get to a pastor a church that I don't

  565. have to apologize for what God says.

  566. We just look at it and here's what God says and because God

  567. said it it's the word of God. Therefore we were required to

  568. follow the teachings of the scriptures.

  569. Unfortunately. Some are purged.

  570. Some are purged by the truth. Well, I'm never returning to

  571. that Fellowship again. I don't like what they say.

  572. I find it ironic that someone would say they don't like what I

  573. say. When I simply just read the text

  574. of scripture, what you really say is, I don't like the word of

  575. God. It's cutting me it's and it is

  576. and it's cutting you to purge you for a movie.

  577. You see, Curtis isn't, this isn't part of the church growth

  578. manual in 2023. No, throw that thing away.

  579. Here's the church growth manual. We need 66 books of a church

  580. growth manual. You know what?

  581. The apostles preached decreased, the hard teachings of Jesus

  582. Christ. And you know what he did?

  583. He purged the unbelievers from within them and we're going to

  584. see next that he prunes the True Believer.

  585. See the word of God, she the purging of the father's knife in

  586. regard to the wicked and the unbelieving.

  587. We're in verse 6. It says that he removes them.

  588. They're thrown away withered the picked up cast Into the Fire and

  589. burned. They have no use in the kingdom

  590. of God because he didn't belong in the kingdom of God to begin

  591. with. just as Judas, did not We see the pruning of the father's

  592. knife next. Again, he uses his word.

  593. It is pruning by his word, he cleans and he purifies all True

  594. Believers. Look what he said there in verse

  595. 3, verse 3, he let them know this, you are already clean

  596. because of the word I have spoken to you, for three and a

  597. half years. They have listened to the word

  598. of God, being spoken to them. This word clean is the same root

  599. word that we get the word that he uses for purged.

  600. Purge. When we look at that.

  601. Tells us something that should give us great assurance.

  602. A great Assurance is that his word has already cleaned?

  603. At those of us who are in Christ, he is already purged us

  604. out of the world and has placed us into the True Vine, the Lord

  605. Jesus Christ and there's going to now then be a continual

  606. purging. This is speaking of our

  607. positional sanctification are positional purging or your set

  608. apart for God. But it's also speaking of our

  609. continual purging that continual sanctification that is going to

  610. go on in the life of every True Believer.

  611. Is assuring his followers? That unlike Judas.

  612. They are really in the vine and they have been pruned by the

  613. word of God. They are made clean through the

  614. washing of the water. Of the word. 1st Peter 1 verse

  615. 23, speaks of being born again for you, have been born again

  616. not of perishable seed but of in perishable and how through the

  617. living and enduring word of God. How is a person born again?

  618. How were the disciples born again, not by some fairytale or

  619. some myth? They were born again by the

  620. proclamation of the truth. Of the word of God, the word of

  621. God was spoken. God in his grace and his Mercy

  622. through the power of His Spirit sovereignly, regenerated them to

  623. Faith and repentance. They believe they trust in

  624. Christ and they're clean. He prunes us all.

  625. He proves his own and how does he do it by placing us in a

  626. position that we can grow and mature?

  627. You're here today? Not because this is a cool place

  628. to be. If you're a True Believer,

  629. you're here today because God is Sovereign, we placed you here so

  630. that he can continue the pruning process so that you can grow and

  631. you can mature in Christ. Why are you going through a

  632. trial in your life? Because it's part of the

  633. pruning. Why are you suffering?

  634. As part of the pruning, why is their perseverance in your life?

  635. It's part of the pruning. And in that is going to produce

  636. greater fruit in your life so that he can receive greater

  637. glory. His desire, the True Believer

  638. who is in the True Vine is that they're pruned to a point where

  639. they are growing in all areas of the fruit of the spirit.

  640. Paul reminds us of the fruit of the spirit in Galatians 5:22.

    Galatians 5:22

  641. The fruit of the spirit is love joy, peace, patience.

  642. Kindness goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control

  643. against such things. There is no law.

  644. Who's in word things, I promised will eventually come out of your

  645. life. As he is doing a work in, you in

  646. the area of gentleness internally.

  647. Where the holy spirit says, maybe you shouldn't have talked

  648. to that person in that tone, maybe you should have had that

  649. attitude that you had eventually as he cuts You by The Sword of

  650. the truth of the word of God and he prunes you eventually. the

  651. fruit of gentleness is going to come to full fruition in your

  652. life, you're going to see great fruit because he is pruning you

  653. I can stand here before you today and say that, I'm thankful

  654. for the pruning. Knife of God.

  655. That knives, that won't let me be who I once won.

  656. It was constantly cutting away, everything in Kirk all that does

  657. not look like Jesus Christ. Why am I thankful for that?

  658. Because it's great assurance that I am truly his for those.

  659. He foreknew he predestined, he predestined them to conform it

  660. to the image of his son. Man cannot believe in the

  661. predestination and election of God and not believe that God is

  662. going to carry out the plan that he sought to carry out through

  663. that. The plane that he sought to

  664. carry out through that was to conform and me to the image of

  665. Christ. That means everything that looks

  666. like Kirk Hall. The word of God is constantly

  667. cutting against and cutting off and removing why so that I can

  668. bring glory to God and looking like Christ.

  669. So what happens in the life of a True Believer?

  670. Just prune. So we see the father's cutting.

  671. We see his grace in that in the lives, those of us who know

  672. Christ, then we go to the next portion in Verses 4 through 8.

  673. The True Believers continuance. This is really where the rubber

  674. meets the road theologically and understanding that this passage

  675. is in no way saying that a person can come to Christ and

  676. then later lose salvation and then be out of Christ, that's

  677. impossible. Wouldn't be Grace at that point

  678. in time, if it's not Grace, it's not biblical salvation.

  679. So get rid of it. In verse 4.

  680. The Lord says remain in me and I will remain in you no Branch can

  681. bear. Fruit by itself, it must remain

  682. in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit

  683. unless you remain in the vine? Remember what he's saying?

  684. Remember when he sang it just hours after Judas has walked out

  685. on the visible group. That was there for three and a

  686. half years, he's walked down. Jesus is saying look, if you

  687. remain in me you're in me. If you don't remain to me,

  688. you're not in me. Jude is proved by his going out

  689. that he wasn't really in Christ just as John declares in first

  690. John that they went out from us because they were not of a same

  691. John, who's noting these things here?

  692. He says I am the vine. You are the branches.

  693. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit.

  694. Much fruit apart from me, you can do nothing.

  695. If anyone does not remain in me, his like, a branch that is

  696. thrown away. And Withers, such branches are

  697. picked up thrown into the fire and burned.

  698. If you remain in me and my words, remain in you ask,

  699. whatever you wish and it will be given you.

  700. This is to my father's Glory that you bear much fruit showing

  701. yourselves to be my disciples. What the evidence of the

  702. disciple is He bears fruit, if he doesn't bear fruit, he was

  703. never really a disciple at all. In fact, the fruit that Judas

  704. board was bad fruit, and Jesus already taught on this bad

  705. trees, bear, bad fruit, good trees bear.

  706. Good fruit. And that good fruit is, fruit of

  707. righteousness and obedience to God in Christ.

  708. What is he talking about here? Let me make it for Everclear.

  709. He is talking about the doctrine known as the preservation of the

  710. Saints. But the doctrine known as

  711. persevering Faith, what does that Doctrine?

  712. Teach us that Doctrine teaches us that someone who is truly in

  713. Christ will persevere and continue in Christ forever.

  714. And for always, because they are preserved by the grace of God.

  715. How do I know this is true again, John 6:37.

    John 6:37

  716. He says this all that the father gives me will come to me.

  717. And whoever comes to me, I will never drive away, write that

  718. down, never drive away. The Father, Here, sink, cutting

  719. dead branches is not driving away.

  720. People who were once, Believers, he'll never drive them away.

  721. He is cutting away, the posers, the imposters, those who have

  722. false professions of faith, He says, for I have come down from

  723. heaven, not to do my will, but to do the will of him who sent

  724. me and this is the will of him who sent me that I shall lose

  725. underline. It none of all that he has given

  726. me, but raise them up at the last day for my father's will,

  727. is that everyone who looks to the son and believes in him

  728. shall have eternal life and I will raise him up at the last

  729. day. Jesus is making it clear.

  730. As crystal clear as possible, your preserved by the grace, and

  731. the will of the father, you aren't preserved because you

  732. persevere, you persevere because you have been preserved.

  733. I pray that everyone knows the difference.

  734. There are many people who are trying to persevere in faith by

  735. their own will power. That's not perseverance and

  736. Faith. You haven't yet, been preserved.

  737. when the grace of God, preserves you, It is a spirit of God. who

  738. Empower you to burst persevere in faith as long as you have

  739. breath in your body, so, if you're truly in Christ, Would be

  740. marked by some things. He makes this clear in this

  741. analogy. The first thing is continually

  742. abiding in Christ continually abiding in Christ.

  743. The apostate like Judas will outwardly seem to be in Christ

  744. or in the vine but is actually a dead Branch who Bears no fruit.

  745. And will not abide forever. Again. referencing John's first

  746. epistle, he says, in chapter 2, Verse 19 that they went out from

  747. us. But they did not really belong

  748. to us. He goes on to say, for if they

  749. had belonged to us, they would have remained with us.

  750. Why? Because they have been preserved

  751. by God's grace and God's preservation of Grace leads to

  752. God's perseverance in faith, but they're going it showed that

  753. none of them belong to us. They never Belong.

  754. I assure you today. Listen to my voice.

  755. If you walk out this door and you say I once believed but I've

  756. never believing again, you never really believed. because Grace

  757. grabs, you Grace keeps you Grace.

  758. Hold you and it holds you to the end and preserves your very

  759. soul. And in that you will persevere

  760. in faith in this life, it is a continual abiding in Christ.

  761. It is the opposite of Judas Iscariot.

  762. The True Believer will abide in Christ.

  763. Preserved by God's effective. Known as is efficacious Grace

  764. proven by the holy. Spirit's empowerment.

  765. To continue pressing on Mark of a True Believers that True

  766. Believers going to continue to press on in faith.

  767. No matter what this life throws at them.

  768. They will remain in faith in Christ.

  769. Never to deny their trust in him and him alone in the hope that

  770. they have. Because of him, it's continual

  771. biting and Christ, but it's also seen in this text constant

  772. dependence upon Christ. Look at verse 5 constant

  773. dependent upon Christ. I am the vine.

  774. You are the branches, the man remains in me and I in him, he

  775. will bear much fruit. Then he says, apart from me, you

  776. can do nothing. You can't bear fruit.

  777. That brings God glory apart from Jesus Christ.

  778. There must be a constant depending upon the Vine.

  779. If you are in your own effort, trying to produce the fruit of

  780. the spirit as defined in Galatians.

    Galatians 5 chapter mention

  781. Chapter 5, you are going to fall miserably short.

  782. Because Christ said, apart from me, you can do nothing.

  783. The True Believer will depend on the nourishment from the vine.

  784. Know what? Great nourishment we receive

  785. from being in Christ. Those of you who are in Christ,

  786. know exactly what I mean your spirit Bears witness to it.

  787. Even now how he nourishes us because we are his He leads us

  788. into works of righteousness for his name's sake for the glory of

  789. the father. True Believer.

  790. Will understand that any good in him or her Any good in him.

  791. There are her at all is the result of the fact that they

  792. have been connected to the Vine. That the good that is in them is

  793. the good of the vine, not the good of themselves.

  794. I find it ironic that so many so called Christians can take

  795. credits. So often for the things that God

  796. has obviously done himself. But we're truly connected to the

  797. vine. We know this that he is our

  798. source that anything good in US comes from Christ.

  799. That we can do nothing. Not one single thing that honors

  800. God apart from the vine of Jesus Christ.

  801. Nothing over you today. Who are here who are not in

  802. Christ. You can do nothing.

  803. Nothing that will get you any reward in heaven of your own

  804. strength, nothing that will lead others to faith in Christ in

  805. your own strength. Nothing that will produce love,

  806. joy, peace patience. Kindness goodness gentleness and

  807. long-suffering nothing. It all must come from the

  808. nourishment of the vine. He's making that clear the

  809. constant dependence upon Christ The Vine And then the consistent

  810. production of Godly fruit. The consistent production of

  811. Godly fruit. A True Believer will have

  812. evidence in their lives and out of their lives.

  813. Evidence of righteous fruits of obedience toward God and God's

  814. will John 14:15 we just were there just a few lessons ago.

    John 14:15

  815. What did the Lord teach us? If you love me.

  816. You obey my commands. If you're truly in the vine, you

  817. will live in an obedient life unto Christ producing works of

  818. righteousness as you are connected to the Vine.

  819. To prove this point. I don't seek to tell you some

  820. catchy story or illustration or give you some example from my

  821. life. Can we go to the scriptures to

  822. see that this is true? But every other idea is alive

  823. produced by mankind because there are many people who say

  824. that Jesus can be Lord, Our Savior and not Lord.

  825. Then later at some point in time, become Lord.

  826. I guess, that's when you finally started obeying him, can I help

  827. you? That's when he became savior to.

  828. We look at consistent production of fruit.

  829. In a life of a True Believer. we go to the scriptures and we go

  830. to another parable of Christ that he makes this so clear.

  831. Mark chapter 4 verse 3. It says listen a farmer went out

    Mark 4:3

  832. to sow his seed as he was scattering the seed, some fell

  833. along the path and the birds came and ate it up.

  834. Some fell on Rocky places where it did not have much soil,

  835. sprang up quickly because the soil was shallow, but when the

  836. sun came up, the plants were scorched and they withered

  837. because they had no root. Other seed fell among Thorns

  838. which grew up and choked the plants so that they did not bare

  839. grain. Still other seed, fell on good

  840. soil, came up grew and produced crop multiplying, 30, 60, or

  841. even 100 time. I know what many say they're,

  842. why are you telling us we're not farmers?

  843. Good news is you don't have to be a farmer to understand this.

  844. Because God in his sovereignty allowed, Jesus to give you the

  845. interpretation there right at Mark chapter 4, the 13th

    Mark 4 chapter mention

  846. birthday. It says this, the 13th verse

  847. then Jesus said to them. Don't you understand this

  848. Parable? How then, will you understand

  849. any parable? The farmer says the word.

  850. Some people are like seed along the path where the word is sown.

  851. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word

  852. that was sown in them. What that looks like in our day

  853. and time that person who hears the preaching of the truth of

  854. the Gospel. Like, you're hearing today, you

  855. hear it. And before you can absorb it,

  856. because you cannot absorb it on your own Satan, snatches, it

  857. away from you, you walk out the door and you carry on with your

  858. lost sinful life. One Step Closer to an eternal

  859. hell. 4:16, says, others like seed.

  860. Sown on Rocky, places. Hear the word and at, once they

  861. receive it with joy. These are those people who that

  862. here and they said this seems like a good idea.

  863. Do they like the benefits of Christ?

  864. Do it seems good. I get eternal life.

  865. I get forgiveness. My slate is wiped clean all.

  866. This is good stuff. but since they have no root, But since I

  867. have no route, they're not really connected to the True

  868. Vine since they have no root. They last only a short time.

  869. They don't persevere. When trouble or persecution

  870. comes because of the word, they quickly fall away, he began to

  871. think where your weird because you're going down there with

  872. those church people doing Church things.

  873. Oh no, I'm not going down there anymore.

  874. I'll hang with you guys again. Sorry, I walked down on all you

  875. guys and all the things that we do and all the sin that we

  876. participate in, I'll come back to the Grove of wickedness and

  877. leave the Grove salvation. Still others, like seed, sown

  878. among Thorns, hear the word, but the worries of this life, the

  879. deceitfulness of wealth. And the desires for other

  880. things, come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful, some

  881. hear the word. When you hear the word today,

  882. that Jesus Christ can set you free through his atoning,

  883. sacrifice through his death, his burial and Resurrection, he can

  884. forgive you of all of your sin. He can wash you clean

  885. completely. He can make you in.

  886. Right standing with God, the Father, your creator.

  887. He will prepare for you. A dwelling place for all

  888. eternity. Auntie in his presence, who

  889. would turn that down? There are those who will

  890. entertain it today? They'll say, yeah.

  891. It sounds like a good idea. Until we get to the party, you

  892. must leave all of your sin. You must lay down your very

  893. rights disown yourself. Isn't that what Jesus said, If

  894. any man wants to come after me, let him deny himself and take up

  895. his cross daily. When we start preaching

  896. self-denial and suffering? Now, wait a second.

  897. You mean I'm going to have to change.

  898. Oh I can assure you, if you're in the vine you will change to

  899. be in Christ. You are a new creation.

  900. All the old is gone and behold all things have been made new

  901. This person is not in the vine, just sounded good for a moment.

  902. In verse 20, there's hope it says, others like seed, sown on

  903. good soil, hear the word accept it and produce a crop 30 60 or

  904. even 100 times what was sown True Believers going to see

  905. fruit in their life and why did they see fruit in their life?

  906. Because they hear the word of God and do it cuts.

  907. Know what offends, they hear it, and they accepted as truth.

  908. And how do they accept it? As truth is if their own accord.

  909. Noah, Sovereign. God opens their blind eyes so

  910. they can see. This is the truth that Kirk all

  911. is the most wretched scoundrel who has ever walked the face of

  912. the Earth. But there is a loving God who

  913. loved Kirk Hall before the foundations of the earth and he

  914. prepared a ways. So that Curtain Call could be

  915. saved through his only begotten son, who has sacrificed that he

  916. made at Calvary for me and for all who would believe, and trust

  917. in him, That person, truly believes that person is truly

  918. saved and then the result of that is true fruit.

  919. He says some of it 30 60 or even 100 times what has been sold Oh,

  920. I don't encourage you today to look at the amount of fruit

  921. that's being produced. In another person's life, I

  922. encourage you today. Look at your life and see if

  923. there's any fruit being produced in it.

  924. Because if you were living life apart from Divine, there is no

  925. true fruit in your life. You are a withered dry Branch

  926. only deceived into thinking that you belong in the vine and you

  927. will be removed and you will be purged.

  928. Because you were useless to the kingdom of God, as I once was

  929. before his grace rescued. Me and made me useful for his

  930. glory. 1st, John chapter 2. John says, this verse 3, we know

    John 2 chapter mention

  931. that we have come to know him if we obey his commands.

  932. The man who says I know him but does not do, what he commands is

  933. a liar and the truth is not in him.

  934. What is fruit. So BD and acts of righteousness.

  935. Those those obedient acts of righteousness are produced

  936. because the fruit of the spirit has been produced in your life

  937. love joy, peace, patience, kindness goodness, gentleness

  938. and long-suffering and if that is true and it is effective in

  939. your life. What is going to happen is Deeds

  940. are going to come out of your life.

  941. Those will be Deeds of obedience brings glory to God.

  942. But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made

  943. complete in him. This is how we know we are in

  944. him. Whoever claims to live in him

  945. must walk as Jesus did. Walk as Jesus did love joy.

  946. Peace patience. Kindness goodness, gentleness

  947. self-control. Consistent production of Godly

  948. fruit. 2nd Timothy 2:19. Nevertheless God, solid

  949. foundation stands firm sealed with this inscription. the Lord

  950. knows those who are his well that's why the Lord could make

  951. the distinguish. The distinguishing factors in

  952. knowing, which ones to cut and which ones to prune, he knows

  953. who are his You can identify them, he knows them.

  954. The Lord knows who those who are his and everyone who confesses

  955. the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.

  956. You turn away from wickedness and you turn to righteousness,

  957. that righteous fruit. That is produced in Christ and

  958. in Christ alone because you are in the vine support from him,

  959. you can do nothing. To be a fruitless Christian.

  960. Is to be no Christian at all. You can quote me on saying that

  961. I'm not here to make friends. I'm here to tell you the truth.

  962. To be a fruitless. Christian is to be no Christian

  963. at all. It's like claiming to drink a

  964. glass of water that is not wet It is that ridiculous.

  965. Why is it ridiculous? Because the word of God is true.

  966. Everything else is a lie. The word of God stands Jesus

  967. himself said not everyone. Who says lord lord lord, Matthew

    Matthew 7:21

  968. 7:21 shall enter the kingdom of heaven.

  969. But only, he who does the will of my father.

  970. He says your mirror profession that you're in.

  971. The vine, doesn't make you in the vine.

  972. There must be evidence that you are in Divine.

  973. What is evidence that you are invited is obedience to Christ.

  974. It is obedient fruits of righteousness coming forth out

  975. of your life because you have been positionally Sanctified.

  976. And now you are being practically Sanctified that is

  977. throughout all of the New Testament scriptures that is the

  978. teachings of Christ. That is the teaching of the

  979. apostle. If you're in Christ.

  980. You will produce fruit to some measure because that fruit is

  981. being produced in and through you by the hand of a sovereign

  982. God. And so I ask you this question

  983. as we prepare our hearts to close.

  984. Are you in the Vine? The Vine.

  985. Are you here is well, how do we know he gave us the evidence?

  986. And how we know Is a fruit or begins with that.

  987. Internal fruit to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

  988. Love joy, peace patience. Kindness goodness, gentleness

  989. and long suffering. Then extends beyond that,

  990. doesn't it? That external righteousness

  991. where you and your behavior are different from a lost sinful

  992. World. Your set apart to bring God

  993. glory. Why it is his will that you

  994. produced much fruit. It's his will that you submit to

  995. his pruning through the word of God.

  996. That you take every opportunity that you can to sit under sound

  997. Biblical teaching that you take every opportunity that you can

  998. to open up the scriptures for yourself to see those things

  999. that by his word. He is.

1000. Pruning from your life. Or you in the Vine.

1001. Is there evidence that? That is true.

1002. I didn't ask you are in, are you in the vine?

1003. Because you walked in aisle. One day and prayed a little

1004. prayer. I'm asking you are you and the

1005. vine because the evidence that you can see proves that you're

1006. in the vine you producing fruit, it brings God glory.

1007. Is he doing a work in? You does that work evident or

1008. are you a dead lifeless branch? a pretender on the verge of

1009. final apostasy as Judas was Are you a dead lifeless Pretender?

1010. Who will be cut away in purged? And thrown into the fire.

1011. The way I see it. They're only two options.

1012. From scripture this morning. You are a in Christ.

1013. The True Vine. Are you Abby apart from Christ?

1014. I would encourage you this morning at the Spirit, reveals

1015. to you that you are living your life apart from Christ.

1016. I would encourage you to know this at 2000 years ago.

1017. Jesus, Christ died on a cross. In the place of every person who

1018. will believe man, woman boy, and girl who will believe and trust

1019. in him. He died in their place so that

1020. they can be included. And in grafted into the True

1021. Vine by faith today. Would you trust Jesus as your

1022. lord and savior turning from your sin and turning to him and

1023. him alone? As the only one who died on a

1024. cross to pay for your sin to save you from the misery in the

1025. Eternal death that your sin has calls.

1026. Would you cry out to Jesus today?

1027. They to save you. I assure you that the word of

1028. God says that for whosoever shall call upon the name of the

1029. Lord. They shall be saved.

1030. If you opened your eyes to date to see your need for salvation,

1031. he points you to the fact that you are a sinner and he points

1032. you to the answer. Jesus Christ, the only one who

1033. can save you from your sin. I pray today that you see that

1034. as a work of God, drawing you out of sin and drawing you to

1035. himself. Would you cry out today?

1036. Would you be saved? And when you be forgiven and

1037. granted the eternal life that Jesus Christ died for you to

1038. have here is called today. My faith surrender to that, call

1039. surrender to Jesus Christ as your lord and savior before it

1040. is Everlasting too late. Father, in the name of Jesus, we

1041. come to you, thanking you for your word.

1042. But we know that it is a double edged sword.

1043. And it cuts. It cuts.

1044. Dividing Soul and Spirit, even to the marrow.

1045. It cuts deep. God, I pray for those who are

1046. lost today, who are being cut by the conviction of your Holy

1047. Spirit, showing them that they need Christ.

1048. I pray that they not be purged from the vine today but that you

1049. and your grace wouldn't graph them into the True Vine.

1050. The Lord Jesus Christ by saving their soul.

1051. What I pray for each believer. Who's here today?

1052. That they would welcome. And rejoice in the pruning of

1053. the word of God. when we hear those truths that are not easy

1054. for us to absorb, God, I pray that they would see them for

1055. what they are and they would Rejoice that it is you

1056. fulfilling your promise, conforming us to Christ.

1057. Maybe we yield to your spirit today and we yield to your word

1058. today as you continue pruning us as Believers.

1059. May we thank you and praise you for it.

1060. Holy Spirit, we invite you now. Rescue centers.

1061. To motivate Saints. The calls us all to come into a

1062. position of worship and adoration for who you are?

1063. We pray all these things in Christ's name.
