You are listening to the Anchor Faith Church message podcast,
-
enjoy the message. Well, I'm Pastor Vanessa for
-
those that don't know me. I am usually behind those behind
-
that wall back there with our kiddos and Nautilus kindergarten
-
through fifth grade, which is an honor.
-
I get to minister to them Sundays and Wednesdays and it's
-
a pure delight. So you're going to get a little
-
object lessons tonight because I do that quite frequently over
-
there. So the title of my message
-
tonight. It is called get a grip.
-
Everybody say Get a Grip. Say Get a Grip.
-
We're going to talk about what it means to get a grip and how
-
to do that tonight and how to maintain that grip.
-
Amen. As I was coming, I got lots of
-
scripture, so I'm going to try to get through all the them
-
tonight. It is an honor to stand behind
-
this. Pulpit pastors are Lamar see or
-
of course, it can't meeting right now.
-
And if you have not heard Pastor the last few days, he has been
-
on fire. About faith in, it's been
-
awesome. So we want to continue to lift
-
them up and prayer. Is there an Oklahoma?
-
Getting soaking up the word? You know if he's ministered the
-
word and so we want to continue to lift them up for the next few
-
services that they'll be there and he'll be returning back, I
-
believe for Sunday service so that all the way into the
-
parking lot. I got this scripture wasn't even
-
on my notes, so I just added it to and this is a really good
-
scripture in 2nd. Timothy 3:16, you know, we all
-
came tonight for service, we all have a part to play when we come
-
to serve. It's not just about the past or
-
the teacher, the preacher whoever's behind the pulpit, we
-
all come and have something to give and we all just
-
participated in worship. That's one of the elements of
-
that. But we you hit, there's giftings
-
that God has placed and put in the body where he sees fit and
-
you need to come expecting every service because God has you to
-
be here for the part of this service.
-
Amen. And I like 2nd, Timothy 3:16
-
that says all scripture is god-breathed, you know?
-
Spinning about him, the breath in our lungs.
-
But he it all the scripture that he's given us in his word is
-
god-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking correcting
-
and training in righteousness. That was the NIV version NLT
-
Version. New Living Translation, says
-
this, it says all scripture is inspired by God and it is useful
-
to teach us what is true and make us realize what is wrong in
-
our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong
-
and it teaches us to do what is right.
-
You know, many times in a message we you know we don't
-
come just to hear all the positive, the feel good, you
-
know, robbery you're doing awesome.
-
This is good. We you know there's sometimes a
-
little bit of both so tonight's gonna be a little bit of both
-
you know we're going to talk about there's going to be some
-
that you're going to take this as a correction.
-
Others is going to say. Yes.
-
That's what I needed to hear. I just I needed to get out of
-
what I'm doing and I need to change some things.
-
So sometimes there's a little bit of both, you know, there's
-
some teaching. There's some training.
-
Ultimately God is speaking through his word so that we will
-
live a Victorious. Aureus life.
-
You know, he didn't put his places worth places human, a
-
Humanity on Earth to fail. That wasn't the original intent.
-
We know in their original intent of his kingdom was for us to
-
flourish on the earth and take dominion and have rule over the
-
Earth. It wasn't for man to sin.
-
And disobey but praise God, he had a plan and all of that, you
-
know, was was changed by because of his son, Jesus living out in
-
fulfilling his purpose. Amen.
-
Well tonight, I want to Define for you.
-
You the phrase, get a grip ever, say Get a Grip.
-
All right? So if you, you know, raise your
-
hand, if you've heard that phrase ever before used, okay,
-
you might have used it. Somebody might have told you,
-
but here's some here is the deck dictionary, definition of grip.
-
It's the act of grasping seizing holding fast or a firm grasp of
-
something to hold faster gripping of something or to
-
take. Hold of.
-
Even one of the definitions is to take hold on the And
-
specifically to have a firm grip in your mind.
-
Okay, here's some Street definitions.
-
Okay when a person has their, let's throw emotions take
-
control of their actions and their thoughts in and that's
-
when people will, sometimes tell someone somebody else.
-
Hey, get a grip. You know, another way is how
-
someone understands. How to deal with something.
-
Another definition is something. That's obviously not right.
-
In an Ocean or in a situation and needs to be repaired.
-
It needs to be, you know, it needs to get things, right?
-
So get a grip. It's to make an effort to
-
control your emotions and tuba cave more calmly.
-
And one, you know, sentence, that they gave which I thought
-
was good. As I just think he ought to get
-
a grip on himself. He's behaving like a child,
-
right? I think the only time we should
-
be behaving like a child is when we have childlike Faith, right?
-
And his kingdom, other than that, we should be able to
-
handle some mature word. Right.
-
We've been if you've been in church for any length of time,
-
you know? The word is fresh.
-
Every time it's spoken, right? If you haven't, if you sir first
-
time with you with us tonight, welcome, we welcome you to
-
Anchor Faith Church. We have a saying around here.
-
It's you can't experience. Anchor, Faith Church.
-
You got to come back. Five times case in point, you
-
will always hear me. You want to come back.
-
When you can hear Pastor Earle some of our other administrative
-
staff that Minister, you know, God's got some great gifts
-
within our staff and within in this body.
-
So you want to make sure you come back and experience it so,
-
and if you are new to here in the scripture, just open your
-
open, your ears to hear tonight because God's going to speak
-
something to you. So, you can get a firm grip,
-
say, Get a Grip. See, God doesn't want us to be
-
led by our emotions. He doesn't want us to be on the
-
hamster. Wheel of just doing the same
-
thing. The way we've always done it.
-
He wants us to have a firm grip in him.
-
And he is the only one that we need to have our hold of in our
-
grip to our passage at we're going to start out tonight, is
-
in John 14. So what should I hang on with
-
me? We're going to read a little bit
-
and then we're going to kind of dissect it throughout the
-
evening, but we're going to go to John chapter 14 in the living
John 14 chapter mention
-
Bible. So I'm going to highlight a few
-
things as a re on and this is Jesus you know I love how he
-
gives us the model of training his disciples, he spent that
-
time with him, we know 43. Years.
-
They were out doing Ministry and it was a training session for
-
them so we can take a lot from the Bible when it comes to what
-
God was doing with his disciples.
-
You know we are still being made disciples so we need to always
-
go back and have that training but I love how he's telling his
-
disciples about some things that are going to happen.
-
So here in John 14, he says in verse and the first verse he
-
says, let not your heart be troubled, you are trusting God.
-
Now trusted me there are many Homes up there where my father
-
lives and I'm going to prepare them for your coming when
-
everything is ready, then I will come and get you so that you can
-
always be with me where I am. If this weren't.
-
So I would have told you plainly and you know where I'm going and
-
how to get there. Thomas says, no we don't.
-
He says we haven't any idea where you're going so how can we
-
know the way? So he's going to give a little
-
correction little bit more instruction.
-
He said this is Jesus. He says I And the way.
-
Yes, and the truth and the life, no one can get to the father,
-
except by me. If you have known who I am, then
-
you would have known who my father is from now on you know,
-
him and have seen him, Philip said, sir, show us the father
-
and we will be satisfied and she's rude.
-
Jesus replied. Don't you even know that?
-
I am who I am Phillip. Even after all this time, I have
-
been with you. Anyone who has seen me, has seen
-
the father. So why are you asking to see
-
him? Don't you believe that I am the
-
father and the father is in me. The words, I say are not my own,
-
but are from my father who lives in me and does his work through
-
me verse 11, just believe it that I am the father and the
-
father is in me, or else believe it, because the mighty Miracles
-
you have seen in me. Got to remember.
-
They've been with him. So they've spent some time with
-
him. They've seen his character.
-
They've seen what he said come to pass.
-
And again they needed a little bit of reminding so we go and
-
verse 15. If you love me obey me and I
-
will ask the father and he will give you another comforter and
-
he will never leave you verse 17.
-
He is the Holy Spirit. The spirit who leads into all
-
Truth, The World At Large cannot receive him for it.
-
Isn't looking for him and doesn't recognize him but you do
-
for he lives with you now and someday shall be in you You so
-
Jesus is preparing him. I've got to go away.
-
Another one's going to come. I need you to be ready because
-
he's going to not only just be around you and come upon.
-
He's going to be in you, he's going to live in you, so he's
-
preparing them and he says again I'd I won't bow abandoned you or
-
leave you as orphans in the storm.
-
I will come to you in just a little while.
-
I'll be gone from the world but I will still be present.
-
With you for again, you will have it too.
-
When I come back to life you will know that I am my father
-
and you and me and I in you verse 21, the one who obeys me
-
is the one who loves me and because he loves me, my father
-
will love him and I will too and I will reveal myself to him.
-
I'm going to go down to verse 24.
-
It says anyone who doesn't obey me doesn't love me and remember,
-
I'm not making up this answer to your question.
-
It is the answer given by the father whose Sent me and again,
-
he's reiterating. But the father sends the
-
comforter. So, the father, I'm going up to
-
the father, but another one's coming, and it's called the
-
comforter. I mean, the Holy Spirit.
-
He will teach you much as well as remind you of everything.
-
I have told you myself, I am leaving you with a gift, peace
-
of mind and heart and the peace I give isn't fragile like the
-
peace, the world gives so don't be Troubled.
-
Or afraid. Remember what I told you.
-
I am going away but I'm coming back to you again.
-
So he again, he's stirring up his disciples.
-
I've got to leave. I'm going to send the comforter.
-
I've got to go, but I'm coming back, but I'm sending something
-
in my place, don't trust in the Peace of the world.
-
Don't let your heart be troubled but Be ready because I have
-
something for you. So we're going to read on, in
-
verse 28. Remember what I've told you, I'm
-
going away verse 29. I have told you these things
-
before they happen, so that when they do, you will believe in me
-
again, he said I'm more time to talk.
-
I've, we got to go now, so he's given him some instructions,
-
given some training, preparing them, right.
-
And in The Message Bible, I'm going to point out a few things
-
and verse six and seven. He says, this is the same
-
scripture reference in chapter 14, but he's saying, I am the
-
road also, Oh the truth, also the life.
-
Like how he they break that down, he's the road, he's the
-
way he's the path, he's the life in the truth.
-
And then in verse, when he's talking about the spirit of
-
Truth coming in verse 15 says if you love me show it by doing
-
what I have told you, right? That's how we show our love for
-
the father is by doing his word. That is what shows it?
-
Amen. So he get, he says, I will talk
-
to the father and he will provide you another friend so
-
that you will always have someone with you.
-
This friend is the spirit of Truth, the Godless world can't
-
take it. I can't take it because it
-
doesn't have eyes to see. Him doesn't know what to look
-
for. But, you know, him already
-
because he has been staying with you and now he will be in in
-
you. So, of course, Jesus is with
-
them. They walked and talked with him,
-
fellowshipped with him. They had an intimate
-
relationship with Jesus and now he's warning them.
-
I'm not going to be here anymore, but there's going to be
-
something intimate. There's going to be something
-
that's going to be close with you all the time.
-
And this is happening, this is going to come.
-
So just a little bit of scripture reference, there's
-
some key things that that's happening in this whole passage
-
of 14, you know, he speaks to his disciples during their
-
training, he's bringing them Comfort.
-
Even if they don't realize they need comfort.
-
In that moment, he's bringing them Comfort.
-
He's telling them of what what is to come.
-
Um he's reminding them of who he is, and who God is one in the
-
same, you know, you know me you know, the father if you know
-
father God you know me were the same.
-
Instead he said if you live as you live, if you love then you
-
will obey another key thing in the scripture if you live and
-
you love Then you're obeying. It says as you live.
-
I mean if you're praying, you can use my name and it will
-
work. She's also given a little
-
precursor that if I don't go and the Holy Spirit doesn't come
-
guess what. We can't do Greater Works on the
-
earth until that happens. So there's a promise of the of
-
using his name in prayer and then there's a promise that
-
something will be sent a comforter a Helper and And that
-
is the holy spirit. Everybody say Get a Grip.
-
Say Get a Grip if you want to get a grip then you've got to
-
hold fast to the holy spirit that dwells on the inside of you
-
because the holy spirit will talk about tonight.
-
A lot of different things that the Holy Spirit does.
-
We're going to be able to just touch on a few things.
-
But I want to encourage you that the word of God is truth and
-
life, and you have the Holy Spirit on the inside that bears
-
witness with you that truth, So that when all chaos, which we
-
know chaos is happening in the world right now, you can rely
-
upon the one that lives on the inside the greater one that is
-
telling of the truth that God's word is the one that's bringing
-
you the peace, that passes all understanding.
-
It's the one who's going to equip and anoint and comfort and
-
we're going to talk about it as we get into it.
-
But I like, you know, I didn't know the pastor of Marcus is
-
going to sing that tonight, but there's a few definitions of the
-
The word, Holy Spirit in the scripture.
-
So I've got three different ones in the group that I wanted to
-
point out. And one of them is breath or
-
wind and river, and he's really good about the Greeks.
-
I might butcher this little bit but it's, it's new apne 0 which
-
is Nu 0, which is the word that get the word pneumo, which is
-
low means lungs, basically, but it means to blow or breath or
-
wind or to breathe. Okay, that's one definition.
-
Other one is parakletos, I'm always think of pair Like a
-
parrot. I guess when I learned that I
-
always think about the parrot being there, you know, a parrot
-
always on the shoulder but it's an advocate.
-
Several different definitions for paraclete ptosis which means
-
call to one's a tour alongside and the definitions are the
-
descriptors for. That one is Advocate intercessor
-
counselor comforter and helper so there's five different things
-
right there that the Holy Spirit does it's called alongside to
-
help with us. Right?
-
It's next to us to Aid in our life and everything that we do,
-
it's our Helper. And then another one is meh meh
-
no, which is to stay abide and remain which is what he does.
-
Whenever we're born again. He comes to live and reside as
-
our spirit man, he that's two, that's who we are.
-
Then in Christ we've been says the old is gone and the new has
-
come and now the whole Lee Spirit than a child Wells on the
-
inside of us. And it, he abides there.
-
And he desires to remain there to be that comforter to be that
-
helper to be the one that we breathe, right to breathe on us
-
to give us that strength. Amen.
-
Ephesians 2:6 tells us that says and we were raised up with with
-
him and seated him in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus, you
-
know, when he When were born again, we've been made new.
-
We've got the Holy Spirit and, you know, I could have titled
-
this. In fact, when I originally got
-
this drop down on my spirit. I thought about an assistant,
-
you know, an assistant, but the holy spirit is way better than
-
an assistant. You know, an assistant, the
-
thing about that is I always joke and say I need an assistant
-
would love to have one and be great, right?
-
Because I have a lots of different things and I was like,
-
I love to give that to somebody. D to do but you know an
-
assistant you go and tell them what to do you know really in
-
job descriptions they have different tasks that need to do.
-
But a personal assistant will say, you know, I could say, go
-
go pick up, go pick up the groceries for me, go do the
-
laundry. I need to go take care of this,
-
you know, normally they take care of tasks.
-
But then if you know, or if they filed for me or did something
-
for me and say, I didn't want him to do anymore, I could
-
choose to say. Yeah, I don't need you, I don't
-
need you to work on that for me or, you know, I'll call you when
-
I need you, right? And that's not what we want to
-
do with the Holy Spirit at all. We want to utilize the service
-
within all the time, right? In fact an assistant you know
-
sometimes an assistant can know so much about what their bosses
-
doing that they could you know, they could do the job in
-
essence, an assistant knows of everything right.
-
But The one of the world's definitions is this that it's a
-
person who ranks below a senior person and that's not what the
-
holy spirit is. We actually are seated with him.
-
We're working alongside each other so I don't want to say the
-
assistant now an assistant does help in a particular work but
-
the Holy Spirit helps in all the works of our life and every
-
facet. And every every day there's not
-
a day that the Holy spirit says I don't feel like coming in.
-
I'm calling in sick today. I don't feel like getting up,
-
I'm hitting the snooze know, the holy spirit is all they always
-
there when we're sleeping in the holy spirit's there.
-
How many of you were getting woken up in the middle of the
-
night because something on the insides prompted you to pray to
-
get up and pray, that's the Holy Spirit who doesn't sleep.
-
He's oh he's awake and his abiding.
-
You all the time and know what's what's happening and what's
-
going on and can give You insight to what is to come,
-
amen. So, in the world system, you can
-
pick and choose been God's system.
-
The one that's full of perfect. Peace.
-
If you just have, let him abide in you and let him remain in
-
you. You will have what you need.
-
Amen. So we don't want it.
-
We don't want the assistant. We want the good gripper will
-
call him. The good.
-
Gripper we get good grip. Say Get a Grip.
-
See, we want to have a firm grip.
-
In order to do that, we have to trust in the Holy Spirit and
-
know that, like I said, in Ephesians 2:6 that we have been
-
seated in Heavenly places far above.
-
Amen, far above. So the Holy Spirit when you're
-
born again, has been added to your life.
-
It's an asset to your life. It is better than an assistant
-
but it's not the fur. It's the firm grip of the word
-
of God in your life using the Holy Spirit.
-
That's going to give you the victory and keep you in the
-
Victory and keep you have. Being a firm grip on life so
-
that your emotions aren't going here or there and everywhere,
-
but they're firm in what the word says, amen.
-
And so, the greater one on the inside.
-
I know you're probably wondering why I've got gifts up here doing
-
open them, let's open. All right, because earlier, when
-
we read in chapter 14, I love how he said that, he was going
-
to send in verse. Let's see where it's at.
-
He says, in verse 27, of chapter 14, I am leaving with you, a
-
gift, a peace of mind and hearts, he got promised a gift
-
that he would send. He was given that instruction to
-
his disciples and he doesn't desire that we just run to him
-
when we have a problem. It's God didn't design this
-
whole his kingdom for us, just to have like an escape plan or a
-
catastrophe plan, or emergency plan.
-
It was to have ever lasting everyday Victorious life.
-
And, you know, it makes me think about things that you get gifts
-
that, you get that you often forget about, you know, who I
-
can't even remember what did you get for Christmas?
-
That was like, Like seems like three years ago because this
-
year has been so long but can anybody remember what you got
-
for Christmas? Maybe not right.
-
And I can I can. The one gifts that are most
-
memorable to me are the ones that usually I get the most or
-
my family gets the most use out of right?
-
And there's a couple things I can think of right now to were
-
one big thing that we use all the time.
-
Any time we're doing construction in our home years
-
ago. Someone gave us this little
-
light that you plug in and you can hang it anywhere.
-
And every time we do something in the That requires lighting,
-
my husband goes and grabs that. It's just, that's one of those
-
gifts that we got that has been so useful over and over and over
-
again and we use it, right? But there's other things that
-
I've gotten that, you know, I might have been excited at the
-
moment that I got it, just like your children at Christmas.
-
They're excited that they got the toy, but then, come next
-
week, they've already forgotten about it and if they're a
-
toddler, they just wanted the Box.
-
Anyways, that's that was the most fun that they had, right?
-
But it makes me think about, you know, My domain, which is the
-
kitchen. You know, some of you are, I'm
-
sure love to cook and I know everyone who loves to eat.
-
So at some point in your life, you have something to do with
-
the kitchen, right? So, it makes me think of gifts
-
that you get that somehow wind up in the back of the drawer.
-
The bottom of a cabinet somewhere things like this.
-
The pro Professionals for professionals pineapple slicer,
-
you know, any one of those you, this is like one of those things
-
you use every day, right? This is one of those little
-
gadgets kitchen gadgets. You get it.
-
And yes it's on the front of the, it's right on your your
-
kitchen counter and you use it every day, right?
-
No know who's going to use the professionals pineapple slicer.
-
Nope that's one of those forgotten items or this one.
-
Like Christmas in July, right? Captain, many cast iron
-
rectangular Skillet, right because you're just going to
-
make yourself a macaroni and cheese Skillet, right?
-
No one in here is going to share, right?
-
So yeah, this one's really going to get used as an it right.
-
Okay, how about let's see, what's in the bags here?
-
Not this one, it might be promising. a 1 ounce citrus
-
juicer, a 1 ounce because Somebody's making some yummy
-
lemonade out of these lemons, right?
-
okay, so I've got a couple more Let's see what's this one.
-
A scoop and slice tropical fruit tool, right?
-
Again. Another useful tool that you're
-
going to use all the time, right?
-
Yes, of course. Okay, couple more couple more
-
How can this one might be promising?
-
But go pods for your Eggies. Okay, listen, there's thousands
-
and thousands of products just like this one.
-
I mean I just picked a few. I mean I went on the website for
-
Bed Bath and Beyond and I mean the options were endless.
-
I mean you never Wherever You Go.
-
I mean there's was 50 new 2020s top 50, kitchen utensils and
-
gadgets and gizmos. So yes you're definitely going
-
to boil your eggs and you're going to put them in the
-
container and then you're going to take it to work with you.
-
Sure you're going to remember that.
-
That's going to happen. All right let's do this is a big
-
boxes. Must be something fun.
-
Rip it open like we do on Christmas morning right now.
-
This one, you know, it's alright.
-
It's a three in one avocado tool.
-
Right. So right now we have 14,
-
avocados, 14, X, 14 juice, for lemons or limes. 14, pineapples,
-
14 papayas are kiwis or cantaloupes, and then we have
-
another baking tool, right? But I want to introduce you
-
tonight, the one that I think you're going to really love,
-
right? So Usher's, cuz tonight actually
-
have a gift for all of you. So the ushers are going to come
-
by now and they're going to give you what's in this box.
-
Okay, if I say Get a Grip so tonight I'm giving you a
-
gripper. Hey I'm giving you a green
-
anchor face. Get a grip gripper because you
-
want something that is useful in your life.
-
You want something that is not going to be tucked in a cabinet
-
somewhere. That's forgotten.
-
I want you to have a, reminder, to take home tonight and there's
-
something you practically can use.
-
So, about 10 years ago, we were looking to move and we happen to
-
go to An open house at a home somewhere and one of the local
-
Realtors had have a red one like this at home and it has the
-
realty companies name on and phone number.
-
And from time to time when I have needed, it, guess what go
-
to product has been in my drawer that I have gotten out and used
-
as my handy. Dandy red gripper, right?
-
All right. And I've had to get a grip to
-
open up a jar. That was a little bit.
-
I needed some assistance. I needed something to help me
-
out, right? So my gripper, Came in handy, on
-
those days when I need it, right?
-
But I want you to know that God's Gift of the Holy Spirit.
-
Does it need to get tucked into a drawer?
-
It doesn't need to be one of these gifts that's forgotten
-
like after Christmas morning or your birthday.
-
You know, it was a really fun kitschy kind of little thing,
-
but it doesn't have lasting value.
-
It just starts taking up, you know, space takes up dust in
-
your house and is really not even useful for you.
-
Anymore. But when you've got something,
-
you know, that's full of power and full of Grip.
-
Then you're going to keep that with you all the time.
-
All right, so this is your grip over.
-
Say, Get a Grip, get a grip. Listen, in order to get a grip,
-
you've got to learn how to yield to the grip, right?
-
So we'll talk about that. Just a couple minutes.
-
We got to yield to the grip yield to the father.
-
God, it's Holy Spirit. That's living on the inside of
-
you. This going to teach you how to
-
get a grip, right? As you read the word.
-
He's going to help you with that.
-
He's in agreement with the word, the father, and he wants to keep
-
you on the right path. First Corinthians, 2:12 says
-
this, it says, what we have received is not the spirit of
-
the world, but it is the spirit who is from God.
-
So that we may understand what God has freely given us.
-
Again, the spirit that's placed on the inside of us when we're
-
born again, is not the same as the world.
-
The world's, like, you know, I would be trying to open a jar of
-
spaghetti or tight jar. It's it just can't do it.
-
But we as Believers, when I we're trying to open up
-
something we're trying to figure out something that's going on in
-
our life, we're trying to get some direction and some
-
navigation. We've got the gripper.
-
We've got the one that can get in there and open it up and
-
reveal to us the truth, right? And we need to have a firm grip,
-
all the time. There's not a time that we need
-
to back down. If ever before we need to be
-
fully engaged with the Holy Spirit and every single thing
-
that we do. Amen.
-
There is some, it's the greatest tool, it's the greatest Gadget,
-
it's just it's in us and it's amazing.
-
Second Corinthians, you know, I sound like a little infomercial
-
person but, you know, like Willie Mays or it, can you
-
remember some of the, you know, how they have the As Seen On TV,
-
like deals or whatever. It's better than that.
-
It's better than there's no easy payments of $29.95.
-
It's free. He's freely giving it to us.
-
Amen. And it says in 2nd Corinthians
-
10:3 through five in the message.
-
It says the world is unprincipled.
-
It is dog-eat-dog out there. The world doesn't fight fair but
-
we don't live or fight our battles this way.
-
Never have, and never will the tools of our trade aren't Or
-
marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing.
-
The entire massively corrupt culture, we use our powerful
-
God, tools for smashing warp philosophies, for tearing down
-
barriers, erected against the truth of God, fitting every
-
loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of
-
Life shaped. By Christ, Our tools are ready
-
at hand for the clearing of the ground of a Every obstruction
-
and building lives of obedience in the maturity.
-
We've got the tool we have it, you have it say I've got the
-
tool, get a grip right. We want to be able to be so firm
-
in our faith that we're like pastors been ministered about
-
being the light. We can't be the light if we
-
don't got a firm grip, right? You know when I like when you if
-
you've ever Screwed in a lightbulb.
-
You know, I've got a lamp at my bedroom and sometimes it gets
-
loose, and I'll go to turn it on and it had that first thought.
-
Oh, the bulbs out. No, it's not the bulbs out.
-
I gotta just kind of twist it a little bit, right?
-
It's not firm, it's not secure. So I'm not going to get any
-
light out of it, if it's not secure.
-
So it needs to be firmly fitted into that area.
-
And again, the were the world's tools are different than our
-
tools but our tools work, our tools are long lasting, they
-
never wear out, they never run. Just because he is forever and
-
he helps us again to have the grip.
-
So we're going to talk about a few of the characteristics of
-
the Holy Spirit. There's so many.
-
We're just going to quickly touch on them.
-
Of course, in John, 16 7 and 8 says, but truly very, very
-
truly. I tell you it is good for it is
-
good. That I'm going away unless I go
-
away The Advocate will not come to you.
-
But if I go I will send him to you when he comes.
-
He will prove the world to be in the wrong.
-
About Sin and righteousness and judgment.
-
So, one of the things that the Holy Spirit does is that he
-
convicts us of sin, right? We were drawn before.
-
We knew him, we were being drawn by the Holy Spirit.
-
The Holy Spirit wasn't in us, but it was drawing us and it was
-
revealing to us that we needed the Creator to come in, and fix
-
this, to fix the heart to, to transform our life.
-
He was drawing us because he's wanting us to come, right?
-
So, if Convicting the world of sin.
-
The next one, John 14, 16 and 17.
-
We've read through this one already.
-
But it says that he will ask the father and he will give you
-
another Advocate to help you. And to be with you forever, the
-
spirit of Truth. Again the world cannot accept
-
him because it neither sees him nor knows, but he permanently in
-
dwells within us. Again, he abides in us.
-
The next one is that he seals us Ephesians 113 in the English
-
Standard Version says, in him. You also, when you heard the
-
word of Truth, The Gospel of your salvation and believed in
-
him were sealed with the promise of the Holy Spirit.
-
Again, there's that lingo of the promised.
-
The gift that was going to come. We've been sealed.
-
And I, what I love about this, this is a Greek word, called
-
spag asparagus, which means etched or engraved.
-
It's a seal that attest to the truth.
-
The Holy Spirit holds. The impression of Truth, you
-
know, back in the day and in Royal terms, you know, they had
-
a the the king had a Signet ring that had to be what dipped in
-
the way it wasn't. So it wasn't truth unless it had
-
the Kings seal on it. The holy spirit is the seal,
-
he's in us. He testifies to the truth and
-
everything that. As long as we're listening we
-
can hear What the word of the what of the Lord is saying and
-
it will bear witness to the truth to what God's word.
-
The Holy Bible says it will not sway from that but it seals us
-
it's proof you know like an official document and we're
-
walking around with us, somebody needs to know something.
-
I got my official document, you may not be able to see it but I
-
eat testifies. It's he it's sealed.
-
It's settled amen. He teaches us in.
-
John 14:26 says, but the advocate, the Holy Spirit whom
-
the father will send in my name. Name will teach you all things
-
and remind you of everything that I have said to you, right?
-
So you're learning your tea, you're learning right now,
-
you're being taught the word of God and when something comes up
-
situation comes that jar of life.
-
It's getting you know you need something to get it open.
-
He's going to remind you of the truth.
-
What do you do to apply to this situation?
-
But to open it to get a firm grip and open and it.
-
And how are you going to know that by the Holy Spirit bearing
-
witness with you? What does God's word say about
-
it? Got symptoms in your body.
-
What's the scripture say about that?
-
Starting to have some thoughts. Come he says to take what?
-
Every thought captive and you make sure what it lines up with
-
what the word of God says. If it doesn't, what do you do?
-
You cast it out and you replace it.
-
With what we're God's word says. So he gives us the ability
-
through teaching us and reminding us.
-
I think that's one of the great tools.
-
I can use especially during the school year with our kids.
-
It's like, you know, when you go to take a test, you've had to
-
have some time to study, you know, he's not going to bring
-
back something that you don't know or haven't studied but you
-
can pray out and say, God show me, show me how many of you I
-
know that you can some of you can testify this because I know
-
a few of you in this room that done this, I've done this before
-
where I have, I've lost something and I just stop for a
-
moment. So, Holy Spirit, you know, where
-
it's at. And I need to know right now.
-
Many of you the Holy Spirit cares so much about every facet
-
of your life that even down to you misplacing your keys.
-
Or needing to remember something.
-
You go to the store and you forgot your list or you're just
-
something and you just stop for a moment, you know, wait on him,
-
the holy spirit will remind you will give you something.
-
I would say this happens to me a lot and I have to make sure I
-
slowed down because the Holy Spirit when you see when you mm,
-
jumping a little bit head, but see when you walk with the holy
-
spirit all the time, and you've got a firm grip with him, it's
-
like you're holding your holding on firm.
-
You begin to like all the time, you'll hear.
-
Holy Spirit. Just in that still Small Voice.
-
Say something to you prompt. You remind you hey don't forget
-
you know I'll be leaving out hit the garage, go to the car and
-
then the Holy Spirit saying you forgot something you need to go
-
back in the house. You know that's the holy spirit.
-
This is just practical everyday living that you can live your
-
life where. I mean again it's better than a
-
personal assistant but yet he's their abiding in you and is
-
reminding. You just you just there that
-
that voice to help you to help you.
-
Because if he wants you to have good success in your day, you
-
know, and a lot of times if we would stop and just acknowledge
-
the holy spirit's there and he's ready at any moment to give us
-
some guidance it'll save us from a lot of heartache and a lot of
-
turmoil. You know I will testify this.
-
We were planning a trip for March.
-
We were thinking about doing a cruise and must have been
-
somewhere around December. I said I just got a sensing and
-
that's what it is. Sometimes it's just a sensing of
-
In a leading in a guiding in it. Nope.
-
You don't need to do, you don't need to book that you do.
-
You need to hold off on that. And you know, I was like, okay
-
well maybe God's got a different plan, you know?
-
Because he he desires that he's with us in everything, right?
-
We're reading a minute, but man plans, right?
-
But we want to make sure that our plans don't supersede The
-
Guiding and the leading that God has for us, we want to be on his
-
timing and he knows everything about.
-
He knows the ins and Shouts and if we follow him then he can
-
protect us and we can know. I know I've heard testimony, you
-
know when 9/11 hit of people who said the holy spirit said, don't
-
go to work that day and they're living because of that, because
-
of that voice, that the power, the grip that they had walk in
-
with him every single day, right?
-
So, he guides us into all truth and John 16:13.
-
It says, but when he, the spirit of Truth Comes, he will guide
-
you into all truth. He will not speak on his own, he
-
will only speak what he hears and he will tell you what is Yet
-
to Come. And that again, is that?
-
No, he knows what's happening from the beginning and the end
-
and if we'll listen will be sensitive.
-
That he will give us some great guidance, he will help us keep a
-
grip. Another one is that he advocates
-
for a John 14:26. You've heard us read that quite
-
a quite a bit but that's the very first part of that verse
-
says, but he's The Advocate, you know he goes before.
-
Before us before our behalf. Someone who Advocates goes
-
before someone write on their behalf again.
-
He's a seal on the inside, he's the proof but he goes before us
-
and knows what's happening here again.
-
He reminds us, he bears fruit through US, praise God of for
-
Galatians, 5:22 and 23 that. There's nine, fruits of the
-
spirit. Again, of the spirit comes from
-
his spirit that helped us to conduct our Everyday life and
-
they are. But the fruit of the spirit is
-
love, joy, peace, patience, long-suffering.
-
Kindness goodness faithfulness, gentleness and self-control
-
against these are no law. These are nine gifts that we get
-
to participate in every single day and the more we yield our
-
self to the spirit and don't live according to the flesh.
-
It's easier. It's easier to walk things out.
-
Enjoy it's easier to just be at perfect peace and not let
-
yourself Get all agitated because the day isn't going,
-
right? No, you can stop.
-
And you can pray and you can set things, right?
-
And you say no, you know what? Let's do a reset.
-
I need to get my gripper, right, because we all have an off day.
-
We're not perfect. We're human beings.
-
We're all being perfected and all being made disciples and
-
growing. We know the disciples did with
-
Jesus right next to him. They together, they stayed they
-
went to the ends together. They mean, Like they had a big
-
slumber party everywhere they went, they traveled.
-
I mean, I'm sure they had great times, but here, they spent
-
intimate time with Jesus and yet, they forgot they forgot who
-
they've been with when he's trying to give them some
-
instruction. So, sometimes that happens with
-
us and we need to be reminded to get a grip.
-
We need to be reminded that the word of God is truth, right?
-
That it's greater than any circumstance that we're facing.
-
It's greater than any symptom that we're facing is greater
-
than any bill, that's unexpected.
-
Acted, you know, when you get a bill that you did weren't
-
expecting, praise God, you know, the air conditioned brakes, the
-
brakes go out. But it's in that, you know, it's
-
life. Get a grip and hold on tight.
-
Don't let go of it. Don't let that steal your joy.
-
Don't let it overtake you because you're of a different
-
kind, you know, I love them. Pastor said this, I think he got
-
it for pastor Rowdy, but you're the king kind, you know?
-
And if the Kings kids do, It a certain way, there's a certain
-
mandate for you to do that, you know, if he should look at us
-
and say oh yeah that's one of the King's kids, right?
-
Our rent, our reputation should be that.
-
Oh yeah, that's a person of faith that they got a strong
-
grip. They got a grip.
-
All right, they got a strong grip, right?
-
That's us. That's who we should be right.
-
I'll tell him myself a little bit.
-
A couple. We're in Nautilus right now
-
we're doing a series called Ready Set few of you know you're
-
just a win. So I'll say The Ready Set right?
-
Which is totally cool is about sports summer camp for not only
-
40 HP for Treasure Harbor. Preschool that That operates
-
Monday through Friday, it does the same theme usually in the
-
summer and a few weeks back, we were talking about Legacy and
-
what you leave behind and the current actually borrowed my
-
little prop last week. So I apologize for you if
-
there's any engine smell in the hallway but the youth ministry
-
borrowed my prop. My prop for model is so Fu, has
-
been about a month ago. We had a had some beautiful
-
smelly spray in a can and we did a little skit with the kids and
-
it was the garbage man came through Was Paul in his garbage.
-
So, things were smelling a little stinky, you know, and
-
then he broke a little bit of wind.
-
And so it was pretty pretty stinky and everything.
-
We had the other character who, who was smelled a floral and
-
just smell Beautiful, right? We talked about leaving a
-
legacy. What do you leave behind when
-
you've been in a situation? When you've been in a
-
circumstance? What are you leaving behind?
-
Do you want to leave a nasty stench where?
-
No one's going to be around you or do you want to be the
-
fragrance? It's of the Lord.
-
You want to be the fragrance of the king.
-
I mean, I know that smell was just a horrific, it was horrific
-
and it's, you know, it's pooping a bottle.
-
I can't say the other word, but it's the poop in the bottle.
-
It's just, it was really, it is snow.
-
So accurate. I don't know how scientists are
-
able to replicate that but it's really bad but we want to be so
-
good at walking in the light and being who God has made us to be
-
that when we leave somewhere, we leave behind His beautiful
-
fragrance. We are so firm and our grip of
-
faith that we're walking day in and day out with the holy spirit
-
that we have just what we need. We have the tool to our disposal
-
at any time that we can use it. Amen.
-
So a couple more things that the Holy Spirit, does he fills us in
-
Ephesians? 5:18 it says, in do not be drunk
-
with wine and which it says, but be filled in the spirit With the
-
spirit, right? So of course we've got, we're
-
have the Spirit dwelling in this, but he desires to come in
-
and fill even more, right? We have the ability as Believers
-
to have that gift to be baptized with a, with a spirit with
-
evidence of speaking in tongues. So tonight, as I close, I'm
-
definitely gonna ask that question if you because this is,
-
we got so much to talk about the spirit.
-
We can't get to everything tonight, but there is the
-
infilling of the Holy Spirit where he comes upon him.
-
Heals you and you have a kingdom language, a Heavenly language
-
that you can speak out and that continues to build up your faith
-
and your relationship with God. That builds up your grip, it
-
only helps you to become stronger as a Believer to have
-
that at that and it's for every believer.
-
You've been. If you've been born again, that
-
gift is for you. So again, and that's a gift of
-
his Spirit. He empowers us who needs some
-
empowerment, right? When I am trying to get, The the
-
jar open in essence, this grip is what's helping me to get the
-
strength to turn it and open it and pop, you know, opens, then I
-
can get to it, right? It says in Acts 1:8 says, but
-
you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and
-
you will be my Witnesses in Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria
-
and to the ends of the Earth. Right?
-
And we know a tax that's when the spirit fell in Acts 2 and
-
they did begin to speak in new tongues.
-
So we are his children. Children.
-
And those who are his children, or his son's.
-
Right. Those who are led by the spirit
-
are the sons of God in Romans 8, bear with me.
-
We're going to read this whole thing is just so good, not to
-
read the whole thing, but it talks about the life in the
-
spirit in Romans. So it says in chapter one and
-
chapter 8, verse 1, it says therefore, there is now no
-
condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus because through
-
Christ Jesus, the law of the spirit who gives life has set
-
you free. Free from the law of sin and
-
death for what the law was powerless to do, because it was
-
weakened by the flesh. God did by sending his own son
-
in the likeness of sinful flesh, to be a sin offering, and so he
-
condemned sin in the flesh. In order that righteousness,
-
requirement of the law would be made fully met in us, who do not
-
live, according to the flesh. But, according to the spirit,
-
because we've got a grip says in verse 5.
-
Those who According to the flesh, have their minds set on
-
what the flesh desires, but those who live accordance with
-
the spirit, have their minds set on what the spirit desires.
-
So it's that constant connection with the holy spirit that you're
-
putting your flesh down. You're allowing the Galatians
-
5:22 fruits of the spirit to come up and to represent, right?
-
You're not being governed by your flesh.
-
It says verse 6, the Mind governed by the flesh is death,
-
but the Mind governed by the The spirit is life and peace.
-
The Mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God, and it does
-
not submit to God's law nor can it do so those who are in the
-
realm of the flesh, cannot please God.
-
If you're living your life, according to the flesh that all
-
you're going to do, Is do what the flesh wants to do?
-
You're not going to be sober-minded, you're going to go
-
after things, right? You're going to put away.
-
This, you know, this can happen to a Believer because just
-
because you get the Holy Spirit living on the inside of you.
-
If you decide, I'm not going to listen anymore, whole Spirits
-
prompting, you think, I'll just put him away.
-
I'm not going to listen anymore and start to you start to
-
instead of yielding and hearing. You start to kind of close your
-
ears to what God's telling you. And then it's easy to go down a
-
road and a path of sin. And destruction is easy to go.
-
Back to Old Habits that you had before.
-
You knew Jesus to pick up a bottle or to pick up, pick up a
-
magazine anywhere. I guess, you'd go onto websites
-
that you shouldn't be on those types of things.
-
You start hanging around people that you knew you're supposed to
-
cut off. But all of a sudden they show up
-
and the holy spirit's like nope, you don't need an answer that
-
phone. So you don't need to take that
-
invitation to lunch, right? Nope.
-
You just tuck that you tuck that grip.
-
Nope, I don't know. Still don't hear them.
-
Don't hear him. Take those you take those
-
invitations and you go down paths that you should have never
-
went down because you chose not to hear the Holy Spirit.
-
But know if you'll let the Holy Spirit on the inside lead you
-
and guide you in everything that you do, he'll keep you in.
-
He'll protect you. I've got a couple of amazing.
-
Stories of from my childhood where I seen the Holy Spirit.
-
Now, I've got one again when I was young, like six years old
-
but I really made him Lord of my life at 14 and really put him
-
first in everything I did. And I grew up in a from the
-
time. I was about 5 years old up, I
-
grew up in a home run a and a Godly home.
-
We went to church, you know, Spirit-filled my parents, you
-
know, got born again when I was five and got filled with the
-
Holy Spirit the same time and you know, so I remember Early
-
days of my dad may be listening to different music and I did
-
then all of a sudden, the music changed.
-
It was only worship music. And then I remember hearing
-
brother, Hagin and Rhema being on the TV, and my dad reading
-
those books. And so, the growing up and in
-
the faith, and I always felt like I had a really strict
-
upbringing, like I couldn't do anything.
-
I wasn't allowed to do anything and it's just, you know, at
-
times. It seemed unfair, and I remember
-
this one particular time where I went, You had a sleepover at a
-
friend's house, that was the pastor's family.
-
We all went there and it was like, avarice believe.
-
It was like over Labor Day. So I like after church, I went
-
to their house and a big old Sunday dinner, you know, we're
-
hanging out, she had horses and so, we rode horses and just
-
having a great time. And I spent the night and then
-
Monday, we were supposed to hang out all day, like, all day.
-
And she was, my parents were supposed to get me that night.
-
Because, of course, you're at school.
-
The next morning. Well, my mom calls about 10:30
-
in the morning. Morning and she says, tell
-
Vanessa, I'm coming to get her. I'm coming to get her, of
-
course. I'm like, what?
-
What have you come to get me? I would, when I didn't do
-
anything wrong. Like what?
-
You know, tell Vanessa, I'm coming to get her.
-
And so, of course, I might mad at the world.
-
Like, I can't believe it, like, why we were having a good time.
-
Why do you, why do you need to get me early?
-
You know, I know you promised me.
-
I could go have the sleepover, I've been wanting to have so we
-
get home. And again, this is my mom.
-
My mom being and dad being led by the Lee Spirit me getting the
-
early lessons of it. I get home.
-
I'm mad probably was in tears and upset when the merge stormed
-
off to my room. I'm sure.
-
And, and I was probably at that time, about 11 years old and it
-
recently around that time is when I actually got filled with
-
the Holy Spirit began to speak in tongues.
-
So spry all around the same time.
-
We got home and my mom gets a phone call about an hour later.
-
We only lived a block over, so it was a very far and the one of
-
the neighbor kids whom before my mom called we were about to all
-
go over there and hang out the neighbor's house.
-
And my mom got a phone call. And the one of the boys that
-
went over that would have. We would have all went.
-
There was me and my friend Lindsay and this other girl joy
-
and then her brother, we're all going to go to this kids house.
-
Well since I wasn't there, the girls didn't go but my friend
-
did and he Went over to the home, and they were playing with
-
a gun, and the gun went off. And that child, tragically lost
-
his life, but it was very like, whoa.
-
It's probably my first experience of understanding.
-
My mom knew something my mom and dad knew something.
-
Because I was protected that day.
-
I may have very well lost my life that day, but my mom knew
-
she got a prompting. To call and go get your
-
daughter. So parents You know, sometimes
-
we're going to be the bad guys and I told my parent my kids,
-
this I said, you know, I we list we live by the spirit so you
-
know, one one size doesn't fit all 11 trip, doesn't fit all.
-
We're not always going to say, yes.
-
In fact if I say no, don't argue.
-
Just take it because sometimes the Lord is going to lead you to
-
not go somewhere to not do something to not go down a path
-
and it's for your protection. So that's one huge story that I
-
can just vividly. Remember from being only 11
-
years old where the Holy Spirit was active happened to me again,
-
when I was a senior, I might have shared this before, but
-
when I was a senior in high school, I was traveling to do
-
some college classes and doing nursing and I remember very
-
vividly I was 17 years old. You know when 1807 17 and I had
-
to travel across the highway. And I vividly remember the Holy
-
Spirit telling me I was at the red light and it was in it
-
turned green and he said don't go.
-
So don't go. So I just stopped again.
-
This wasn't an audible voice. It was just a still small voice
-
of the Holy Spirit saying, don't go and I stayed and because I
-
did the semi truck that ran the red light before me.
-
I missed it. So praise God, it's it's not
-
just little, it's huge. It's life-changing, you know, I
-
can remember other opportunities that, you know, different
-
things. The holy spirit will give you
-
the guidance and give you a check.
-
So, sometimes use that lingo of a red flag, sometimes he'll put
-
down a red flag and say, or he'll like in football terms of
-
put a flag on the play, Then you needed to need to stop that
-
right. All right, because he knows
-
what's to come. And if we're sensitive, we can
-
be warned ahead of time, right? So I praise God for having that
-
life in the spirit, living that life in the spirit.
-
That recently, this just in the last six months, there was a not
-
to get into too much detail but there was a specific thing that
-
I wanted to do growing up. And when I've always told the
-
story, I've said it a certain way that my parents wouldn't.
-
Let me do this and the Holy Spirit arrested Me in the car.
-
One day about six months ago and said, this is why your mom
-
wouldn't let you and your dad would not let you do this.
-
And he revealed to me, why? And I was like, Wow, can't go
-
into detail what but it was a situation where I really wanted
-
to do something because sporting event and the Lord revealed to
-
me 25 years later. Why?
-
So I changed my lingo. Now when I say why couldn't do
-
it, I mean my parents had the Holy Spirit.
-
We have the Holy Spirit, right? We want to we want to hide it,
-
you know, we don't want to hide a word of my little gripper go
-
so I hit him. Look at there.
-
He's right there. Found them right.
-
The Holy Spirit wants us to be allow him, right?
-
He's not going to control us. He's not going to control this
-
at all, but he's a gentleman and will be it will ease there and
-
say, listen, listen, don't do that.
-
Don't go down there. Remember what God's word says?
-
Right? Don't say that.
-
You're about to say something. Don't go down that road.
-
Right? Restrained.
-
You a little bit, white. Remind, you got some
-
self-control. Hey, I got self-control here
-
just access it right now. Access it right, right.
-
The world is gone and Chaos. You know, the news report.
-
Now he may just tell you to shut the news off completely.
-
And there goes that. Then that's that that increases
-
your peace 100% right there, right?
-
And he made during the season. I mean, he has me a couple
-
times. I've had to just Holy Spirit.
-
Said, just shut it off. If you feel yourself getting all
-
anxious and you feel yourself getting angry, and you feel
-
yourself getting in the flesh, then you need to turn it off.
-
It's starting to rule you You're starting to lose your grip, you
-
going to fall, and you don't want to do that.
-
You want to keep your grip, you want to keep the firm grip.
-
Amen. So, let's go on to enrollments.
-
We're not finished reading. There's so much in this in the
-
Scripture. It says in verse 9, you however,
-
are not in the realm of the flesh, but are in the realm of
-
the spirit, indeed, the spirit of God lives in you.
-
And if anyone does not have the spirit of Christ, they do not
-
belong to Christ, but if Christ is in you, then even though your
-
body is, Subject to death because the send the spirit
-
gives life because of righteousness.
-
And if the spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is
-
living in you, who raised Christ from the dead?
-
He will also give you life to your mortal bodies because the
-
spirit lives in you and says, therefore, brothers and sisters.
-
We have an obligation but it is not to the flesh to live
-
according to, but it and it goes on and says it.
-
But if by the spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body,
-
you will live again. We are to live by the sea.
-
Spirit if we do that, then we have a firm grip.
-
Verse 14 says, for those who are led by the spirit of God are the
-
children of God, the spirit received does not make you
-
slaves. So that you live in fear again,
-
rather the spirit we receive brought you about your adoption
-
and sonship and by him, we cry, Abba, Father, the spirit
-
himself. Testifies, with our spirit that
-
we are God's children. So we that's when you're born
-
again. That's the Holy Spirit.
-
If you've ever had a question about your salvation, the holy
-
spirit will bear witness and testify that you have.
-
You've been made a child of God, it's easy, it's easy.
-
There's no more condemnation. You've been now made great make
-
good and in right standing with God, we go on to verse 17 says.
-
Now if we were children, then we are heirs Heirs of God and
-
co-heirs with Christ. If indeed, we share in his
-
sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory, we're
-
going to go on down to verse 31. It says that we are more than
-
conquerors. This Is What then shall we say
-
in response to these things? If God is for us, then who can
-
be against us? Who did not spare his own son
-
but gave him up for all of us. How will we not also along with
-
him? Graciously live, in all things
-
who will bring any charge against those who have God's
-
chosen. Remember, we've got to seal.
-
Not matter what's coming against us.
-
Everything it within the spirit, those things that we've talked
-
about that, he's given us, the fruit of the spirit.
-
We have everything to equip us to have a firm grip on it.
-
Amen. And it says that in verse 34,
-
who then is the one who condemns no one Christ Jesus, who died,
-
more than that, who was raised to life is at the right hand of
-
God, and is interceding for us who shall separate us from the
-
love of Christ shall trouble. Or hardship or persecution or
-
famine or nakedness or danger or sword as it is written for your
-
sake. We Face death all day long and
-
goes on and says, verse 37 know. And all these things, we are
-
what more than conquerors through him that who him through
-
him. Who loved us for?
-
I am convinced that neither death, nor life, neither angels,
-
nor demons, neither the present, nor the future nor any powers,
-
no height nor depth nor anything else in Creation will be able to
-
separate us from the love of God.
-
We really are the only ones who can choose to separate our
-
separate ourselves. We can choose to stop listening,
-
stopped following the Holy Spirit and not allow ourselves
-
to be gripped in him in order to do it to live a life in the
-
spirit is we've got to continue to stay abiding in the vine.
-
You know, your participation in coming to church, not to check a
-
box but to come to be open and ready.
-
He got, what do you got to speak?
-
To me today. This is this is my training.
-
Every time I go to service, God made use me to fellowship with
-
somebody and give something out. There's a part of it.
-
But when it's time to start these the services, I'm going to
-
be in there, ready to worship. Ready to just take everything
-
you got for me and when the word comes I'm taking notes, I'm
-
taking notes so I can be ready, I can be fully equipped so that
-
I can go out there and be that light and it every time you do
-
that, it gives you more More and more fuel a bit like Pastor
-
said, if you've been listening to his message, it's just fuels
-
your faith. It continues to give you more
-
more and more faith. The more you hear, the more you
-
do, you build your faith, the more you hear, the more you do,
-
it just continues to build a build a building.
-
It's easier, it's easier. So get a grip.
-
All right? So when you get the grip and you
-
get the Holy Spirit, you want to keep that firm grip, right?
-
So you abide in the vine, you you come to service, you read
-
the word you Make the word your everything.
-
If you're putting him first in everything that you say, and
-
then you do, then, how are you going to put him first?
-
If you don't read the word, if you don't pray, if you don't
-
consult with the holy spirit before you do anything, right?
-
Anything. You know, down to the details.
-
Yeah, I'm not saying Lord, should I go to the bathroom
-
right now? Or should I, you know, should we
-
make spaghetti for dinner? I mean it's you know, no.
-
But he could in some of the little things like that, some of
-
the everyday things you must say, Okay.
-
God, I need some direction, you know?
-
And if it's if you're truly coming to him with a question,
-
what should I do? He's going to give you an
-
answer, you know, but it's not kooky and every little Thing but
-
it's just it becomes so natural. If you have the more you follow
-
God and the more that you do it just becomes natural but the
-
heart that it becomes harder to keep this out in front of you
-
the more that you're away from the word and this goes for any
-
of us you know your flesh starts wanting to like get all crazy
-
and Spazzy when you haven't been in the word, It's a lot harder
-
to let the fruit of love and the fruit of patience.
-
Come out. When you haven't been in the
-
word when you have it been fueled, right?
-
When you just kind of sit, well, I'm not listening to the word if
-
you're not, if you're not reading the word and you're not
-
going to be listening to the holy spirit either.
-
And they're going to be bear witness.
-
This is the thing about the Holy Spirit.
-
The Holy Spirit. Never going to tell you to do
-
something that's not in the word of God.
-
They bear witness. When one another, they are of
-
the same, we have the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, the
-
word, they're all one, it's wrapped up in one and they were
-
they were here at the beginning. It says in the beginning was the
-
word and the Word was God With God.
-
It's they're all one and the same so they're not going to do
-
anything. Contrary to one another And the
-
key into holding in truly, keeping a grip.
-
As the participation, you have to be a doer of the word, right?
-
Not just a hearer of the word and his word tells us that we
-
should have a good grip and I'm going to be three scriptures
-
about grip. Can you believe it says in the
-
word and Hebrews 10:23 in the message translation?
-
It says, let's keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us
-
going. He always keeps his word.
-
So you take away tonight, he 1023, let's keep a firm grip on
-
the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word.
-
It's also in Hebrews 2 verses 1 through 4 in the message.
-
It says it's crucial that we keep a firm grip on what we've
-
heard so that we don't drift off, we don't want to be
-
Drifters. We want to be firm in the faith.
-
That we don't let you read on there.
-
But so later on it it does say in the scripture, first of all
-
it was delivered by a person. The master a curly passed on To
-
Us by those who heard it. It from him.
-
All the while God was validated it with the gifts, through the
-
holy spirit, all sorts of signs and miracles, as he saw again,
-
we know that's what he was showing the disciples.
-
But for us, we see his word, we see the effects of his word, we
-
see the truth and the more you you flow with the Holy Spirit,
-
you hear the word and you do the word.
-
It just becomes so natural and it's so easy just to obey.
-
The more you obey the easier it is to obey, right?
-
The more you let your life, do what?
-
Flash is saying the easier. It will be whatever you so to
-
whatever you give to its, that's what you're going to get and
-
it's going to be easier, right? If you just sit and eat ice
-
cream every night, then guess what?
-
Your routine of going home. And eating ice cream every night
-
is what it's going to be so much easier to pick up that carton of
-
ice cream. That is going to be an apple.
-
I mean, right? But if you make, if this is a
-
habitual thing, if you make a habit of that, that's not your
-
go to your go to is not the ice cream.
-
Right now. We're not talk about diet, but,
-
you know, we know ice cream, eating ice cream ever nuts.
-
Not healthy, right? We learned that in elementary
-
school, you know? What's healthier apple or the
-
ice cream. All right, let's give to the
-
Apple. Let's give to the spirit.
-
Let's do what the word and the spirit are saying to us.
-
Let's keep a firm grip. Let's keep to the promises like
-
Hebrews and then, 1st Timothy 1:9 says this.
-
Paul is talking. He says, keep a firm grip on
-
your faith in on yourself. After all.
-
This is a fight. We're in.
-
Now, we know we win but a soldier doesn't back down.
-
Never you never cower down a back down.
-
Right. We got confidence because we
-
know the outcome but we still have to man our post and stick
-
with our station, right? And so again the holy spirit's
-
there wants us to listen everything that he has to rest,
-
right? It's not about a feeling or our
-
feelings are changeable. They can come and overwhelming
-
dominate, but we must keep a firm grip.
-
Flowing in the spirit, the fruits of his Spirit, the gifts
-
of his spirit, all those things so that we can keep a firm grip.
-
Amen. I'll leave you with this.
-
Have a few more things, but I want to be able to pray tonight.
-
You as a child of God, it says in John 10:27, my sheep, listen
-
to my voice, I know them and they follow me.
-
And when you are born again, Another comes to live and reside
-
in you. And that's the Holy Spirit your
-
made new and it becomes so easy because you know, hear a
-
different voice. It's not that the other voice
-
you're not going to hear any more.
-
The temptation of the world and it's in is always going to be
-
there. But as long as you get your grip
-
by, allowing the Holy Spirit to come on the inside.
-
And then you keep that grip, you keep a firm grip.
-
In the word then you are going to it's going to be easier and
-
easier for you to hear the shepherd's voice.
-
To hear the voice of Truth for your life and no matter what
-
you're going through. There's an answer if you keep
-
the grip. Thank you so much for listening
