Thanks for checking out the anchor Faith, missing podcast
-
from st. Augustine, Florida.
-
Now, enjoy this message. It's a no.
-
On each any capacity. No pun intended.
-
I know that's been the lingo from the pulpit lately but it is
-
an honor to an any capacity that the Lord gives you gives us.
-
All of us to be able to minister the word of God.
-
So earlier ezeli was asking what I was doing home for a little
-
bit of kind of came and got some stuff prepared and she said, so
-
you're going to be with the with the, with the big people and I
-
said yeah, I'm going to be with the big people tonight.
-
I want to be with the adults in the main service.
-
So and we've really changed our lingo because I've always
-
endeavored in my Nautilus team for those that.
-
Don't know, I'm the children's Pastor here at anchor, Faith
-
Church. My name is Vanessa, and I
-
oversee all of children's Minister here at anchor, Faith
-
Church, and also direct our preschool as well that operates
-
Monday through Friday. But I don't like to look at
-
Children's Ministry is as the Adult Services, the main service
-
we call this, the adult service and the reason for that Because
-
there are Services going on all over this building.
-
We have the youth service right now.
-
We have Nautilus Junior Services.
-
We have a kingdom kindergarten, first grade service, and then,
-
right behind us, we have a second through fifth grade
-
service, so and then we've got our service in here, so we
-
definitely don't want to ever diminish.
-
That God is working and moving all throughout this building and
-
whatever package you come in and this space, the Lord wants to
-
minister to you. So You know, I'm going to miss
-
you tonight and for some of you have seen new Minister for a lot
-
of times I'll have object lessons because I just love
-
visuals. I love things for you to be able
-
to grasp hold of and be able to have like it's something
-
tangible that will remind you of his word.
-
So tonight I am the object lesson, I am the globe, I am.
-
The were my Great Commission shirt, so we'll get to that in a
-
little bit, but I want to ask you the question tonight.
-
What do you want to know if anybody ever ask you that?
-
You ever ask, you know, I'm trying to get to know somebody
-
like what do you want to know? What do you wanna know about me?
-
What do you want to know? So that's our key text for
-
tonight. We're going to get into Timothy
-
a little bit but I want to ask that question to you guys
-
tonight. What do you want to know?
-
Because there's a lot to know out there.
-
There's a lot to know in our everyday life if you can just
-
think back to where you started at this morning, we're inundated
-
with information from the moment that we wake up.
-
Up to the moment, we go to bed tonight and one great source of
-
that is this great smartphone that we have, right?
-
Some of you may have a flip phone and that's great.
-
You don't have to have as many notifications but for most of
-
you you have a smartphone and you use that smartphone to
-
navigate your life to take pictures to take notes and I'm
-
speaking for myself personally, I use my phone and it's a great
-
tool, it can be a great tool should be used as a great tool
-
but there can be hindered. It's, is it to it as well.
-
And so tonight, when I asked the title, what do you want to know?
-
We're going to talk about being Kingdom teachable because there
-
is something that can happen. If you choose to no longer allow
-
yourself to be teachable, It can be very, very dangerous.
-
Okay. And so we're going to go back to
-
the very beginning and not Genesis, but we're going to go
-
to the beginning of what the word says.
-
the word and, you know, I'm going to reference scripture a
-
lot. I told the guys back in and
-
their Booth back there, I should have my big old packet, don't be
-
alarmed, but I do have a lot of notes that most of it is
-
scripture. So, Us go again to John 11 and
-
verse 1. It says, in the beginning was
-
the word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
-
Verse 2, he was in the beginning with God.
-
All things were made through him and without him was not anything
-
made that was made verse 4. In him, was life.
-
And the life was the light of men.
-
And in verse 5 it says the light shines in the darkness and the
-
Darkness has not overcome, it will go back to the scripture in
-
a little bit cuz we're going to talk about.
-
The days that we're living in, but we know right here in the
-
beginning that the word itself became flesh.
-
And in the beginning, the Word was God was with God and it's
-
the light that over shines. The darkness in this world.
-
Amen. So if you can think back to your
-
school day some may have had the best experience in life.
-
Some may not, but I bet you, you can think at least one teacher's
-
name that made an amazing. Easing investment in your life
-
right now. I'm sure all of you are thinking
-
of at least one teacher, at least one, that was your
-
favorite. And I venture to say that that
-
teacher probably made you feel safe and loved and cared for and
-
then made the content that they were teaching you fun and
-
relatable and wanted you wanted to go back to school.
-
The next day, anybody can attest to that out there around the
-
only one because I remember more than Actually one, but there's
-
something while we are. We come like a child because
-
the, the, you know, the kingdom of God, the Lord specifically
-
tells especially his disciples. He says, how should you come
-
into the king of you should come like a child, right?
-
And I believe, because I work with children so much children,
-
just come and they don't have any baggage, they don't have to
-
think about all the things as adults have to think about bills
-
bird. Owens.
-
All the things we've experienced in life, even in A Renewed state
-
that we've been born again. We're in his kingdom.
-
We still have a lot of responsibilities is a grown-up
-
and his child can just come and they can just in Freedom, listen
-
and glean and they're excited. They're excited about what they
-
know someone has taught them something and they just kept
-
their biting at the bit to tell us what they learned.
-
They have they come. With enthusiasm and passion, you
-
know what I'm talking about. The kids will they want to come?
-
They want to be able to tell somebody what they have learned
-
and recently in fact it was the Easter Service.
-
I was ministering next door and serving and if you're not part
-
of children's ministry, you're missing out because it is the
-
best. Well plug it right now, it's the
-
best area. I know Ricky ushers are great
-
and all but children's ministry. It is so fun.
-
You get to be few, get to have so much fun with them.
-
And I'm just standing in all with these kids and I hadn't
-
been in that particular class in a little bit.
-
And I was just talking about Jesus and, you know, again what
-
his purpose was, why, you know, he was getting ready to go to
-
the Crossman and three days later.
-
And I said, you know, right now your parents are next door and
-
they're learning about Jesus too.
-
To their learning about what it, what Jesus was about to go
-
through and one of them raised their hidden and the little girl
-
was so excited. She goes my mom's in there right
-
now. She loves, she loves past her.
-
She lives here in the preaching and she was just this exuberant.
-
She just couldn't wait to get it out.
-
And tell me how much she loved her parents.
-
Her mom, loved Jesus and loved lives.
-
Listen to preaching, because she had a knowledge.
-
That means that she's she's seeing it.
-
It's being modeled in front of Her a passion for the word.
-
A love for the word of God and she was excited to tell me.
-
Well, that's the same excitement.
-
We need to have all the time and every single truth that God
-
shares with us. We need to have that passion.
-
We need to ask the question to others.
-
What do you need to know? And when they ask that we're not
-
just, we're not just giving them the answer.
-
We're showing them that answer in our everyday life because
-
we're sure, Shining the light to them.
-
Amen. So let's have that same hunger
-
as a child tonight. Once you, you've probably heard
-
many of these scriptures before, but this is how we have to come.
-
We have to come like a child, ready to ready to learn, ready
-
to listen. And when I was getting ready to
-
administer tonight, I was reminded of something I do with
-
preschoolers. I was like, I'm not gonna have
-
an object lesson. I'm just gonna, you know, I'm
-
just gonna preach the word but the Lord reminded me of
-
something he gave me right on the stage about four years ago,
-
I was ministering Chapel to our preschoolers and right in the
-
middle of it, he gave me a phrase to say to them and it's
-
very basic, but it's profound. And so I'm going to have you
-
guys do this with me. This is something we do with our
-
preschoolers, okay? But I want you to concentrate on
-
what we're doing and then we'll go to the why everybody with me
-
like this. Stop And you're with your both
-
hands, you're going to look at your eyes.
-
Say look. Okay.
-
So let's do it again. Say stop.
-
Then you can, then you're going to reach to your both of your
-
ears and you're going to say the listen.
-
And then you're going to reach up to your head.
-
You're going to say here, then, you're going to go down to your
-
heart, your spirit, man, and you're going to go out to do,
-
okay? So let's do it together.
-
So, listen, when you're born again, our spirit man is
-
recreated in We're new creatures everything that we need is
-
recreated and new. This this up here though is what
-
has to be transformed and changed and then because we are
-
beings that are made in three parts, where a spirit being that
-
we have a soul. That's how we make decisions.
-
That's how we process thing in this Grand brain that God's
-
given us. And that's how we deal with our
-
emotions make decisions. And then we live in a body that
-
houses both of those. Well, the spirit and the soul,
-
Have to work together because we need our brain to be able to
-
process information that we're learning and we're growing in,
-
but then it has to line up with God's spirit.
-
So that day I got it and I thought this is what our kids
-
have to know. It's not just about them
-
listening, I don't need them, just to hear information.
-
I need them to really stop and look.
-
And so, when we teach this, we tell them, this is something you
-
do with your teacher. This is something you do with
-
your Parents. And this is something you do.
-
When the, when you hear the word of God, that when you hear an
-
adult, speaking you stop, what you're doing and you turn to
-
them and you look at them and you listen to them and you hear
-
what they're saying, so that it can get deep down and that
-
connection between your heart, and your spirit and your soul,
-
and then you can go out and you can do it.
-
What's the same thing for us? Adults, we have to learn to stop
-
and listen to the voice of the Holy Ghost.
-
We To stop and learn to listen to what the word of God is
-
saying. And then from there we stop and
-
we here, so that we can what process it down in the heart and
-
we can go in, do it because it's nothing if we just here and
-
we're going to get into that. So we'll do that maybe just a
-
little bit again. So tonight, we're going to go on
-
a little journey with Jesus and his disciples.
-
You know, I love, I love the connection between the old and
-
the New Testament tonight. We're going to Stay mainly in
-
the New Testament though, because Jesus there's so many
-
lessons, we learned from him in the disciples, he calls them, he
-
picks them, he knows exactly the one that God has ordained to go
-
on the journey with him to be disciples, right?
-
Disciples or pupils, right? The whole premise of them being
-
disciples, it they were to learn that were to come alongside
-
Jesus so that they could learn. So that not only That they could
-
learn a bunch of information, but that they could replicate it
-
in their own lives that they could.
-
Then in the new church in the new phase, they could become
-
what the church. They could be Apostles where
-
they would this this information in this experience that they
-
have with Jesus living with him each and every day.
-
They now can live it out. And so they had to learn to
-
become teachable. And that's what we have to do in
-
the word. Teachable means it's a person
-
who's capable of Being taught a person who's at or willing to
-
learn. Okay, there's somebody who's
-
capable of being taught and they're apt or willing to learn.
-
Now person who teaches or a teacher comes from, a Greek
-
word. That means Deo to learn, and it
-
literally means the person that means to call someone to learn.
-
So, a teacher, their responsibility is to help the
-
person learning, but they literally cause the person to
-
learning by them teaching and instruction.
-
Also in importation or instruction of knowledge and
-
this word teach died died. ASCO.
-
If I'm saying that right in the Greek, that means to teach okay.
-
Another word to learn itself means men than 0.
-
There is a manthe know it's a cool word, it means to learn or
-
be. Appraised means to increase
-
one's knowledge to be increased in knowledge to hear be
-
informed. And then it goes on to say, Say
-
that it means to learn by use and practice in and be in habit
-
of. So these definitions help us to
-
kind of understand what learning means knowledge means.
-
And when you learn, it's not that you're just gaining a bunch
-
of information because we can do that, you know, we any of us in
-
this room, could go and take a class on how to knit or how to
-
play an instrument, or how to cook, right?
-
They have these things on in celebrities, do things called
-
the a master class and you can learn from someone who has
-
mastered a specific skill and then you can go take.
-
You can pay and you can take classes and you can learn,
-
right? How many of you when you need
-
it? Question answered.
-
What's your first thing you might say to what?
-
Google it YouTube it right earlier today, somebody ask me
-
something and I said well let's Google it.
-
I mean we do that there's just kind of a that's a pretty
-
standard word that we use a phrase that we use to find out
-
information. And again this is when these
-
phones can be great tools but they don't ever need to replace
-
the word of God because ultimately this is the source of
-
truth that we want to make sure that we're going to.
-
This is the knowledge that sir. Surpasses, any otherworldly
-
knowledge that we could get any stats.
-
We could get from the TV from YouTube, from ESPN, from any
-
political outlet, from Facebook, from Instagram.
-
All of those things are fun and cute.
-
But when it comes down to it, the word of God is where we need
-
to get our source. That's where we need to be in
-
the know. Right.
-
That's where when we're asking the question, what do you want
-
to know? I want to know what the word
-
says about something. I want to remain.
-
So that I don't miss out and I don't go down a path where I
-
deceive myself. We're gonna talk about that a
-
little bit. So in our journey with Jesus, he
-
had his disciples, and there's many phrases, where we have, we
-
see him, say the word Rabbi, which meant teacher, and you go
-
through, and they recognized him as a teacher and in John ours,
-
that might go to, Johnny, let's go to Matthew.
-
Matthew 4:23 says this, it says, Jesus was going throughout all
-
Galilee teaching in their synagogues and preaching.
-
Preaching, the gospel of the Kingdom.
-
What was he preaching? The gospel of the kingdom and
-
healing every kind of disease, and every kind of sickness among
-
the people. So, what was he doing again?
-
He was teaching the kingdom and then we see the Miracles
-
miraculous signs come after okay, in John 3, verses 1
-
through 3, we see that Jesus and we'll read just a little small
-
snippet of this, but this is when he's teaching about
-
Nicodemus and he's teaching about the fact that you must be.
-
Born again and then Nicodemus is confused.
-
And he's like, well, I can't go back to my mom and start that
-
process over again. I did that a long time ago and
-
so then he gives a little bit more clarity.
-
And so then you know, here it is.
-
In verse 3, he says 3:2 me first one, it says now there was a
-
Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish
-
Jewish ruling Council. He came to Jesus at night and he
-
said Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God
-
for no one. Could perform the signs.
-
You were doing if God were not With him.
-
So they recognized who he was and what was coming as a result
-
of the word that he was bringing, and he used that word
-
teacher. So the disciples they follow
-
Jesus. They see the teaching of the
-
word, the crowds followed him and there are several instances
-
were healings. Take place in another instance,
-
happens to be where in John chapter 5 Jesus and his
John 5 chapter mention
-
disciples or returning from Jerusalem and they he goes and
-
heals a lame, man. So we're going to go go to John.
-
5:19 and Jesus is explaining to them after this happen.
-
Again, the religious people of that day.
-
Always had something to say to Jesus, when he was healing
-
people and he was doing the work of the father on the Sabbath
-
day. You know, they had something to
-
say about it. And so, Jesus, in verse 19 says,
-
I tell you the truth, the son can do nothing by himself.
-
He does only what he sees the father, doing whatever.
-
The father does, the son does also.
-
And so then he goes on and he tells them and verse 24, I tell
-
you the truth, so Jesus Continues to tell them the truth
-
over and over again and every instance he brings the truth
-
verse 39 of the same chapter. He says you search the
-
scriptures because you think they give you eternal life but
-
the scriptures point you to me yet you refuse to come to me and
-
receive this life. You see they weren't teachable.
-
although they were the ones who had the most knowledge, the
-
Pharisees were the scholars, they knew they had studied the
-
scripture, they knew, they knew all of historical data, but yet
-
in their heart, they were hearing.
-
I mean, they were listening. They like what they were hearing
-
then they didn't they weren't hearing from here.
-
And, of course, we're dealing with the, with the people before
-
Jesus, you know, have went to the Cross but still, they were
-
of a religious spirit. They did.
-
Want to hear the truth. They didn't want to hear the
-
real truth because they didn't want to change.
-
They didn't want to have real knowledge so that they could,
-
you know, be different. They were set in their ways of
-
exactly how they have always been operating.
-
Here we go into John 8 now. Jesus, again, he's dealing with
-
the heart of a Humanity. They bring him a situation.
-
There, always Trying to stop Jesus.
-
And here they are and John. Excuse me, verse 1.
-
He's here in the Mount of Olives. and, of course, the
-
crowds Gathering and There's this woman who has made a very
-
bad mistake. She's been caught in the very
-
Act of adultery And they're like, well what are you gonna do
-
with her, right? This is what the law of Moses
-
says to do. And you know Jesus, what does he
-
do? Is the answer real quick.
-
No, he takes his time. He said somebody wise will take
-
time. They don't have to spread out an
-
answer. I don't have doesn't have to be
-
quick right? He's slow to speak quick to
-
listen and who is he listening to?
-
The father, he's listening, the Holy Ghost is given him the
-
words of wisdom and knowledge at that moment, to be able to
-
impart to the disciples to the people and how to handle with
-
this woman. And of course, we know Jesus
-
says, You know, he in this area here who hasn't sin, go ahead
-
and pick up a stone and you cast the first one?
-
Well, they were like, well, they start thinking of all their
-
baggage and all their mistakes and are they, can they do that?
-
Can they, honestly throw that stone know, they can't.
-
And so what does Jesus tell the woman?
-
He says go and sin no more, right?
-
Go and sin, no more and so Jesus then gets a moment where he gets
-
to teach his disciples, what's happening and he tells us in
-
verse 30 says, the many of the Jewish leaders had heard him
-
saying these things before they begin to believe him, to be the
-
Messiah. And Jesus said to them, you are
-
truly my disciples. If you live as I tell you and
-
you will know the truth. And the truth will set you free.
-
So not staying in their own mindset, but Ali coming into the
-
knowledge of his Kingdom and who he is and who his father is so
-
that they could truly walk in truth and be free.
-
Amen. You know, we have to be careful
-
if we want to be in the know. I did bring some statistics
-
tonight because you know, as great as this device is always
-
want to make sure we come back to the word of God.
-
And I wanted just for some information or and we have
-
information at her fingertips all the time.
-
I'm, and I've got some sources, I looked up some tech
-
information, just in general, how much time we use, and we
-
spend on our phones and it says that 80's it, this is a tech
-
website, but it says, 86 percent of Americans.
-
Go online daily. That means you're going on the
-
internet daily using their phone.
-
Using a quick source. 86 is pretty, pretty big number.
-
It says, by the year 2025, which is just around the corner it
-
says that the The number of smartphone users in the United
-
States will reach over. 311.50 3 million people.
-
So a lot of people having phones using finding information,
-
right? And it says that the average
-
person has it minimum 63 pickups a day.
-
That means you've seen something flash across the screen and
-
you've it's caused you to pick up.
-
Now, I was studying earlier, just go through.
-
Scriptures and I had several. And I'm like, see case in point.
-
It's happening to me right now. So I actually went in and I'm
-
like, I don't need to know that. So, and so is having a cell
-
every time they're having a sale?
-
I just, I went in and literally changed my settings, because if
-
we don't watch out, we're in bombarded with information all
-
day long, that's useless. And we can control it.
-
So I'm like, well, I'm not. I'm going to take the control
-
back. I'm about to teach about this
-
tonight. I need to take control of some
-
of mine. So I went through and change
-
some of my notifications and put no notifications because I don't
-
want to be notified about that. I don't want to get too busy
-
with that, that I don't stop to be able to know what's I really
-
need to know and that's the word of God.
-
Amen. But on the things that are
-
really important but the things that aren't we don't have to
-
focus on. Amen.
-
Because what do you want to know?
-
What do you want to know? We want to be Kingdom teachable.
-
We want to know what the word says, amen.
-
Let's open up some more scripture.
-
Let's get into now. Jesus.
-
Jesus is with his disciples. We know we, he goes on a journey
-
with them for three years, we just celebrated Resurrection
-
Sunday and we know that Jesus is purpose was to fulfill this
-
right. Fulfill this so that we can be
-
part of his kingdom. So he's living his Kingdom
-
Purpose. And after he Risen.
-
He gives the disciples. A couple of different things.
-
First of all, he promises them. He before he goes, he even tells
-
them. Listen, I'm going to send
-
something that's going to help you even more than me being
-
here. And of course, they still didn't
-
understand again. They're still learning growing,
-
he has to give them several examples sometimes.
-
But, you know, I don't think Jesus got bothered with his
-
disciples. You sometimes, we can read that
-
scripture. We can think gee whiz.
-
Do you think they would get a clue?
-
But do you know, Jesus follows the Holy Ghost and felt follow
-
the Holy Ghost with his disciples and the Holy Ghost
-
follows patients. So just like our kids that may
-
come up to us and tug on us and say you know ask us a question.
-
No question is a wrong question and I don't think the disciples
-
were coming with dumb questions. I think that they were generally
-
doing what they were called to do and be in disciples learning
-
and growing in knowledge. And so Jesus would have to
-
sometimes spell it out, you know.
-
And then he Would explain any said, the reason they don't
-
understand. It's because they don't have
-
what you have, but let me tell you, when I leave, it's going to
-
be better. It's going to be better because
-
I'm going to send something called the Holy Ghost.
-
The Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit comes your,
-
he's gonna recite reside in you each and every day and you're
-
going to have him with you to help you and you're going to be
-
able to do this and you're going to be able to do not just what
-
you're seeing. Now you're going to be able to
-
do greater things more things and so they had to understand
-
this and he he tells us in John 14. 17 is he tells them in the
-
Amplified classic, it says the spirit of Truth whom the world
-
cannot receive or welcome or take to its heart because it
-
does not see him or know and recognize him but you know, and
-
recognize him for he lives with you constantly and will be in
-
you. That's us.
-
So that was the, that was him telling the whole, the
-
disciples. But that was him getting ready
-
for us to be able to have the Holy Ghost.
-
The enemy tells us this way. It says it now and I will ask
-
the father and he will give you another Advocate who will never
-
leave you ever. He is the Holy Spirit who leads
-
us into what truth. So when we need to know
-
something, what do you want to know truth?
-
We got the truth teller on the inside the truth teller, that
-
will bear witness with this word.
-
We don't have to go search in all over the place.
-
In fact, if you're part of this body here at anchor, Faith
-
Church, you don't have to go here and there in fact the word
-
tells us about that it tells us about making sure that we're
-
planted firmly in a body. So if you're not and you've been
-
coming here for a little bit, and the Lord saying, this is my
-
home than make it come. Be part of.
-
It will be called Vision Partners here because the Lord
-
wants you to be planted somewhere so that you can get
-
strong roots in him. And then You can grow in the
-
place and you can listen to the shepherd.
-
That's part of the flock that you part of the body and we're
-
part of the flock so that we listen and we follow and we work
-
this together as his church. And so you don't have to go to
-
this church and that church and this and that if you know that
-
God's called you, then you get connected, get connected, so
-
that you don't go astray, right? We don't have to listen to all
-
this information. God is so simple.
-
It's although he is so I was thinking about this tune getting
-
ready, the kingdom is so vast and some of the parts of it are
-
so unfathomable, but yet our God is so easy.
-
The Holy Spirit doesn't make it complicated.
-
He's simplifies things for us and it's crazy.
-
How many of us, I mean how many is in this room right now
-
without counting? He tells me something.
-
He tells you something, he tells You something.
-
I go down the line. He tells us all he speaks to
-
every single one of us. How more amazing can we get than
-
that? That he speaks to us that he
-
cares about each one of us so much that he talks to us.
-
That he gives us exactly what we need.
-
The knowledge that we need. So what do you want to know?
-
Be Kingdom teachable because he wants to tell you so so much
-
more about your life and your purpose.
-
So, Jesus, of course, promises the Holy Spirit and then he
-
tells his disciples in Matthew 28:16, he says to them, they
-
verse 16. It says the eleven disciples
-
went to Galilee to the mountain where Jesus had told him to go,
-
and when they saw him, they worshiped him, but some doubted.
-
Then, Jesus came to them and said all authority in heaven and
-
on Earth has been given to me. Therefore therefore go and make
-
disciples of all Nations, baptizing them in the name of
-
the father, and of the son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching
-
them to obey everything. I have commanded you and surely.
-
I Am With You Always to the very end of the age, there's a lot in
-
this scripture, you know, we know this is the Great
-
Commission, right? That my got my Globe shirt on
-
and it is my Great Commission shirt.
-
We are to go. But in this there's so much Yuri
-
Realize that these disciples 11 because one didn't make it.
-
But the 11 disciples that have been spending time with Jesus,
-
have been learning have been growing in the things that they
-
didn't know what they knew three years previous.
-
He's saying now You Go Make Disciples.
-
The one that was learning is now teaching that's us.
-
We are to learn but yet we are at the same time, we are
-
learning. We are all So, teaching, and the
-
greatest way that we all teach is by how we live every single
-
day, if we're a light or not, because there's only one choice,
-
you can either be shining the lighter, you can be hiding the
-
light. And if you're hiding the light,
-
it's either because you're ashamed or it's because you
-
don't have the light yet. So only two reasons.
-
But the Lord has given us the light to shine it boldly so
-
everyone can see it. So we can truly make disciples.
-
So we teach we train and then they do the same.
-
Amen. Because we, you know, the Lord
-
desires that all men would come to repentance.
-
That all would be able to come in his kingdom.
-
It's not just be for a few people.
-
I mean, this these wall should be busting out with people.
-
Right. Not just to be here on a
-
Wednesday night or Sunday. But to be here because this is
-
the house of God, they won't want to miss.
-
What, what God has to teach them?
-
Because what do you want to know the?
-
Holy Ghost wants to teach. So we got to be ready to listen.
-
Amen. So the what we learned from God
-
is deeper than mere intellect. Right?
-
Because I love education. I mean I love ministering and
-
teaching young children, I love, I love listening to those who
-
have gone before me my elders because I love to hear what
-
they've gone through. I love to hear their testimony.
-
Right. Not their complaint.
-
But I love to hear what God's done in their life.
-
And I love to hear where they could have been and how God's
-
restored them. So that's amazing, right?
-
We can glean from somebody. I love to hear from people who
-
have a knowledge of something that I don't know, right?
-
Because we don't know what we none in this room, know,
-
everything and none of us in the room.
-
In this room could have could ever get to the place where we
-
know everything in This Bible either because again with the
-
kingdom, I was talking about being unfathomable.
-
It's one of those things where you can't grasp everything and I
-
think there's the Lord was purposeful on that because
-
there's so much in here. It's so rich he gives it to us
-
when we need it and if we stay focused to learn it and we grasp
-
hold of it and we let it get down here, we get down here, we
-
understand it, then we can apply it and it can come out here and
-
we can do it. So he gives his just what we
-
need, right? Some of you in here, may have
-
just got born again God speaking to you tonight.
-
He speaking to every time you come in here and you and you get
-
the word every time you're out your home and you're reading the
-
word, the Lord, you know, speak to speak out before you read.
-
Lord, speak to me today, teach me as I read the scripture.
-
Let it be not just a box that you're checking, but let the
-
Holy Ghost speak to you believer, who's been doing this
-
for 20 years, 40 years, 60 years, Ears that God speaking to
-
you. He's speaking to you.
-
And in this room tonight he's speaking again he's care so much
-
about each one of us individually that he's speaking
-
to each one of us what we need. Right.
-
What do you want to know? He's gonna speak it to you.
-
And then from there, what are you going to do with it?
-
So we're going to spend a little bit of time now, talking more
-
about what this Deeper truth is that we're not just thinking of
-
things and intellect and it's not just in our brain but it has
-
a connection from our brain to our spirit, man and back and
-
forth so that we can truly understand who we are in Christ
-
and we can be led by the Holy Spirit and it's a
-
transformation, not just information.
-
Right, because we get a lot of information off this phone.
-
Right targets having a sale. Great love it, but that That's
-
great, but I need to know something is going to really
-
transform my life, right? So Romans, 12:2 says this, don't
-
copy the behavior in the customs of this world, but let God
-
transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.
-
Then you will learn to know, God's will for you which is a
-
good and / pleasing and what perfect will.
-
Okay. Let's do it.
-
Let's do a little recap of our our stop.
-
Look listen ready, I'm going to do the motion.
-
See, if you remember the parts of it.
-
Hey you sit nice and Loud. Ready?
-
Alright, one more time, let's say it again.
-
Good job, good job. What do you want to know?
-
You're ready? Now.
-
You're ready to listen. You're ready.
-
Okay. And as you learn and grow in,
-
this is one, I probably have told the story before when I
-
ministered. You know, I learned I got born
-
again when I was a child and I got filled with the Holy Ghost
-
as a child. So it just comes easy.
-
And I know sometimes if you didn't experience, it didn't
-
experience as an adult, you know you did, you know, you didn't
-
know, you don't know what you don't know, but I learned as a
-
child. Early to hear the voice of the
-
Holy Ghost. So for those who have young
-
children, it is possible that your children at a very early
-
age, Early Elementary age can grasp hold of the Holy Ghost in
-
here it and the Holy Ghost saved my life several times.
-
And I was grateful that I was raised in the church and not
-
only that I hear but I had parents that listen to the Holy
-
Ghost and spared my life more than one occasion.
-
Where they said, don't let her go there, don't let her do that.
-
And at the time, I was mad. I didn't like what my parents
-
had to say to me. But then I seen the power of
-
God. And those moments were the Holy
-
Ghost spoke. He knew more than we, he knows
-
more than we know. So, what do you want to know?
-
I want to know what he knows in the moment so that I make the
-
right decisions so that I do the right things that I don't have
-
to go down a road, you know, I I've given this testimony when I
-
was 17 years old, I was driving and I got to a stops or to a red
-
light and I know vividly it was almost like it was audible
-
wasn't but the he goes spoke to me and said, don't go.
-
And the right light turned green and what are you doing?
-
A green, you go. But the Holy Spirit was so
-
strong that moment and said don't go that.
-
I just stayed there didn't care for somebody was behind me but
-
if I would have went, I would have been head-on with a semi I
-
would have died. I wouldn't be here standing
-
today if I wouldn't have obeyed the Holy Ghost and so it's such
-
a profound and powerful thing. I know that the Holy Ghost spoke
-
to me. And in the more we listened, the
-
more we stop. We drown out all the other
-
noise. Get it out silence.
-
It the TV and the music even sometimes, it's okay, just to
-
quiet everything we need that and I'm all for music.
-
I love to jam in the car, I loved it.
-
You know, my kids hate that I love to dance and jam, but they
-
try not to do it unless I'm by myself.
-
But it's sometimes it's just good to be.
-
Be quiet in the car and just get along with God and pray.
-
Just have a moment where you just don't have to be so
-
inundated with all the noise, because if you can stop and
-
listen to the Holy Ghost, that's what we need.
-
That's how we need to be able to be in the know.
-
That's what we need. Amen.
-
So the word tells us that if what, that if we hunger and
-
thirst for righteousness, we will be what.
-
Phil, that's what it tells us that Matthew 5 6, it says we're
-
blessed. Right that The Blessed ones that
-
are, if we're hungry and thirst for righteousness, we will be
-
filled. So, we're asking the question,
-
what do you want to know? I don't want to just know,
-
facts, I don't want to know, just statistics, I don't want to
-
know reports. Because yes there's things in
-
our life that are going to come and we're going to know these
-
things. We're going to need to know
-
because we're going to need to know how.
-
Then we take that information and we go to the word of God
-
with it, right? For example you get a diagnosis,
-
you've had a symptom in your body and you go to a physician
-
and Physicians are great. The medical field is a great
-
tool. You go there and you get a
-
diagnosis but that's just facts that's not truth in the
-
knowledge of the words. Of the new line it up with what
-
God's word says and you you trust and you stay focused on
-
that alone, right? That's what you're speaking the
-
Year. This is the year of raining
-
residents, that's what you're speaking out of your mouth.
-
That's what you're hearing. If we're hearing anything else
-
for silence and everything else. So that we can only hear what
-
God's word says about a situation.
-
Amen. So we utilize the method of
-
stopping so we can hear We're not just listening with our ears
-
but we're truly hearing what he has to say.
-
And when we do that, we allow the Holy Ghost to lead us and
-
guide us every single day in every single way of our life.
-
And again, God cares so much about us.
-
He cares about every detail of our life, there's not a detail
-
heat that he's like oh well that's no big deal.
-
No, we're a big deal to God. He loves us and we got to
-
sometimes stir ourselves up because if You will get if you
-
have it, drowned out the world and you have it drowned out what
-
the enemy because he comes trying to do his little
-
business. All the time.
-
He lies. That's all he does.
-
He comes to kill, steal, and destroy.
-
And he's a liar and a thief. And so, his main weapon is for
-
us to, for him, to bring his facts to, for him, to bring his
-
information. And his information is lies.
-
It's not the truth. So he'll come tell you how you
-
don't look a certain way or you don't.
-
Tad up or you're not enough for you did this and you did that.
-
You're wrong it. No that's all lies.
-
So you combat it. You you shut him up by speaking
-
the word of Truth and only What God Says About You matters,
-
right? Do you really believe that?
-
What do you want to know? You want to know what the God's
-
word says right now, somebody's been dealing with that thought.
-
Focus on the word, it doesn't matter what you did.
-
He Jesus came to make it new. And if you've already taken care
-
of it in the spirit and you've already prayed, it's done the
-
enemy tries to bring up old stuff all the time.
-
Shut him up, tell him. We're what about himself?
-
Don't let don't listen to him. Be in the know of what God's
-
word says about you because that's all that matters.
-
That's all that matters is what his word says.
-
Amen. Well let's go.
-
We're going to continue. Gnu.
-
We're going to do something. We're going to go into second
-
Timothy and I just started reading.
-
I'm like man in scripture so good.
-
We had it in our Bible reading plan and it came out.
-
I believe it was last week or week before we read we were
-
reading and second Timothy and I were going to go to chapters 1
-
through 4. We're going to hit some
-
highlights but my main text of scripture, I would say tonight
-
is in second, Timothy chapter 3, verse 7 and this is what it says
-
it says. Learning and never able to
-
arrive at the knowledge of Truth.
-
And so this is what I want to make sure we don't do we.
-
There's a danger that we get all this information that we're
-
always have it at our fingertips and we're doing we're reading or
-
hearing. But we want to make sure we're
-
not just gaining knowledge and not getting to the truth and
-
church. It could happen even sitting
-
here service after service. It can as powerful as our
-
pastors are. As I mean, Pastor early, he's
-
got enough energy for all of us. I mean, he's amazing.
-
I mean, I've known him most of my life more than my lifetime.
-
I've known him. I mean, I've known him for a
-
long time, and it's amazing to me.
-
The word of the words that come from our King from him, but the
-
Lord knows what we all need and the words come and do season.
-
And if we don't watch out we just hear a scripture in Leo.
-
I heard him say that before. I've heard that scripture
-
before, oh, he's going to talk about that in the Kingdom today.
-
It said, then you check out and you check out, we got Kingdom
-
rice coming next week. We might have some ministers.
-
Praise the Lord and bite. Somebody get this place packed
-
out because they need to hear the word.
-
They need to be in the know, but we have to be careful that
-
during that we don't get comfortable with the pastors
-
that are speaking all the time. Maybe guest, ministers that come
-
and we've heard heard them before.
-
Don't be familiar with them. Remember that it's the Holy
-
Spirit within them speaking out. It's a vessel used by God but
-
don't ever diminish. You gets to get in front of the
-
pulpit because it's the word, the rightly dividing, the word
-
of Truth here. That true.
-
So it'll set you free. It'll keep you in truth.
-
Don't don't do what verse 7 says, and just be always
-
learning but never able to go. This is why it's so so important
-
that you don't go to church to church and you don't go Ministry
-
to Ministry and you don't like have our podcast and 15 other
-
pastors podcast from other places.
-
Because I will tell you not every Ministry, is preaching
-
this what we hear in this house they're not and, you know,
-
February I had a little bit of time off, and there was a couple
-
services that I wasn't here. And I, you know, pulled up a
-
couple of other places and because our had our listen, all
-
of our messages, and we didn't have anything up, and my husband
-
died. One that we had to turn the
-
preacher off or like this is, this is trash.
-
So you think he just took that scripture completely out of top
-
context, we literally turn it off and it was a Rhema church
-
and I I was just, wow, this is not even right prayer.
-
And then I was like, praise God, thank you for where I'm at that.
-
I'm hearing the word of truth. Thank you.
-
Holy ghost, that you just told me that that wasn't right and
-
Lord help that congregation help them to see that truth that,
-
that that what they're saying right now is not the word, not
-
the word that should be preached.
-
Right because they weren't they were going down a old meal by.
-
It wasn't even a testimony. It was it was rough.
-
So do that. You are in a good place and the
-
word is Rich and what do you want to know?
-
He's going to teach you a men. So let's go into our second
2 Timothy 1 chapter mention
-
Timothy chapter 1 a little bit. I'm just going to hit some
-
highlights because again, it's a lot of great scripture.
-
This I know Pastor, Marcy always gives you guys homework.
-
This would be a great one for you.
-
Just to read through again, Paul.
-
All rights majority of the New Testament.
-
Jesus is already went on. So in our journey now the Holy
-
Ghost is come down and acts. They've been filled and now we
-
have Paula, we have Paul who's traveling the churches are being
-
established and Paul is the apostle that starts the
-
Ministries it but then he makes sure everybody is he keeping him
-
in check. He's making sure that they're on
-
step and they're not going astray, right?
-
And he in this journey finds Timothy, o Timothy's.
-
Great Timothy is the great example for us in the New
-
Testament. But what it looks like to be
-
like-minded to be serving alongside someone else and have
-
the same vision and passion is them.
-
That's us guys with our pastor. Well we come and we partner Have
-
and Have The Vision the same vision that we see you know.
-
God has connected me here. Then we have a passion to come
-
show up and serve with a smile that we can't wait to get these
-
doors open so that we can get here and be in our fit that we
-
feel weird if we're not here because If my arm was outside
-
right now, I'd look pretty weird, right?
-
And if my foot, you know I'd be only half of a person the body
-
has to all be in one place and be connected because the Bible
-
tells us that that's the way he sees it.
-
It's like a human body connected with a with the ears in the head
-
and the face and all the different parts need to be
-
there. So church we get to partner and
-
we get to be just like that Timothy that Paul had.
-
And so Paul is with Timothy and He and then there's times where
-
they're apart and he's writing letters.
-
So we go through and second Timothy, he's writing letters to
-
him, and he is just encouraging him and talking about what he's
-
going through. And he says, you know, and
-
chapter one or second Timothy 1 verse 14.
-
He says, you know, I need you to remind them of some things, he
-
says, remind them of these things in charge them before the
-
Lord, not to quarrel About Words, which doesn't do good.
-
But only ruins the hearers. And then he says, in verse 15,
-
do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker
-
who has no need to be ashamed, but rightly handling.
-
Laying the word of Truth. So it begins to give them some
-
admonishment and in teaching he says, I need you to go back and
-
tell them this and see the thing he had it with Timothy is no,
-
even though Paul wasn't with him at the church's, Timothy would
-
go and deliver the message he would go and deliver what needed
-
to be known. And again, Paul was only
-
speaking what he was getting from God.
-
He was getting a from God and he was in Imparting it to these
-
churches. And so he goes on and he said,
-
you know, they're there you do all this with handling the truth
-
so that there won't be some irreverent Babble, right?
-
That would lead people to more ungodliness.
-
Then he goes on in verse 21. He says, anyone who cleanses
-
himself from what is dishonorable?
-
He will be a vessel for honorable use set apart as holy
-
useful to the Master of the House for every good work.
-
I don't know about you but I want to be useful to the master
-
for any and every good work that he'd have me to do.
-
So I want to be in the know not about the latest and greatest of
-
this or that or the latest information about.
-
Other people and what's going on in their lives because we have
-
to be careful about that, too. He warms us.
-
Got to be careful. We don't turn into gossips.
-
Right? If it's not useful for us to
-
know about what's going on in somebody else's life than we
-
shouldn't be repeating it to somebody else.
-
Go to the source, right? You got a question about
-
something, go to the source that one of my notes I just feel like
-
I should say that. So alright now we're going to go
-
to verse 24. It says in the Lord's servant
-
must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone able to teach
-
there's that teach word again patiently enduring evil
-
correcting his Opponents with gentleness, God, May perhaps
-
grant them repentance, leading to a knowledge of the truth.
-
Again, God wants everyone to come into the knowledge of
-
Truth. So his people that are his work,
-
that are his hands and his feet, have to be able to take that
-
information. That's not just information, but
-
the transformation in their own lives that they've gained, so
-
they can go out into the world and they can preach it.
-
Amen. and then this is where we're kind of out and Chapter 3
-
of second Timothy, Here we are in the last days and I believe
-
we're in the last days has been understand this that in the last
-
days, there will come times of difficulty for people.
-
Will be lovers of themselves. Lovers of money, they'll be
-
proud, arrogant, abusive disobedient to their parents
-
ungrateful, Unholy heartless, unappeasable slanderous without
-
self-control brutal, and not loving good verse for
-
treacherous Reckless swollen with conceit, Lovers of pleasure
-
rather than of God having the appearance of godliness.
-
But denying its power avoid such people for among them are those
-
who creep into households and capture weak, women burden with
-
sin and led astray. And this is where the danger is
-
verse 7, always learning and never able to arrive at a
-
knowledge of truth. I know that's all grim and
-
that's all what we we will be around us in the world but we
-
don't have to be that we are the Opposite of that.
-
Excuse me. So anything that we just read
-
we're going to be opposite of in his kingdom.
-
We're not going to be lovers of money.
-
We're not going to be proud or arrogant, or abuse.
-
We're going to be whatever the opposite of those.
-
We're going to be grateful. Holy appeasable following
-
self-control. Loving, what's good?
-
You know, you take all of that and because we've chosen to be
-
in the right. No.
-
And to Follow the knowledge that God has given us.
-
We are not going to fall into the verse 7, where it says
-
always learning but never able to arrive at the truth, right?
-
It goes on to talk about the Old Testament with Moses that these
-
particular verse 8, Janice and jambres opposed Moses.
-
And these men were opposed the truth and these men became
-
corrupted. Mine and were disqualified
-
regarding the faith. But you see in order for us to
-
continue growing, we have to have a love of the word, a love
-
of the truth, a love and an importance of it right now.
-
I believe here at anchor faith. We have that we cuz we Would you
-
something so profound that many Ministries?
-
Don't do. And that's that.
-
We read the Bible. I mean, that was just in me as a
-
kid. We read the Bible.
-
I remember, somehow I got it on if it was for Christmas, but I
-
had this one book that it was a Book of Proverbs and I would
-
that route was so torn and tattered.
-
By the time I grew up, I read it, I just sat in, read it, and
-
I'm grateful that I got that scripture in me now, was that
-
scripture enough to sustain me now?
-
No, I got a reading. Read and read and read.
-
But I remember because those early days, I had a love for the
-
word. That I believe that's where I
-
get my being. Now, if I wouldn't have had that
-
and it doesn't take you having that as a child.
-
Again, we come with childlike Faith now was the day.
-
Now, you can start right now making the word priority in your
-
life right now. As a child of God not in stature
-
or an age. But in being that you're wanting
-
to come to, not just get information, not just check off
-
the box that you came to Wednesday service.
-
Or you came to Sunday service or you came to a couple of Kingdom
-
rise conferences, but that you came because you know, the word
-
is so rich and you want to get it in you so it can come out of
-
you the truth. Amen.
-
And so we get to one of my favorite scriptures about the
-
word in 2nd, Timothy 3:16 that all.
-
Scripture is breathed out by God and is profitable, what is it?
-
It's profitable for these things teaching, for reproof, for
-
correction for training in righteousness.
-
That the man of God, may be complete equipped again for what
-
every good work and their Seasons with the word because
-
sometimes your season in the word might be that God needs to
-
do some correcting in your life, right?
-
Then always feel the greatest. Maybe it's just like tonight.
-
Simple training in righteousness of our righteous living.
-
What it's going to take for us to be able to get all the we
-
need and God, so that we can do the good work that he's called
-
us to do. Amen.
-
And then, we're going to go to this next key in chapter 4 verse
-
2. It says preach, the word be
-
ready in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, and
-
exhort and complete patients and teaching.
-
And that's what we get to do in. The Lord.
-
You see, we are the ones who are learning and growing, we're
-
being taught so that we can go and we can teach we can preach
-
and, and verse 2, the second Timothy 4:2 the work.
-
Excuse me, it starts with preach the word.
-
This word preach means to Harold or to Proclaim.
-
We should be with our life showing others.
-
What they need to know, what they need to know that.
-
They don't know that they need to know, which is the word,
-
heralding and proclaiming the kingdom of God.
-
And we do that in our life. Amen.
-
I preaching the word we Harold Harold it as a public crier at
-
says, and in not just a preacher.
-
Now, we may not all be called to be preachers, but we all could
-
go back to that. Matthew 25 where the Lord says
-
to his disciples in that same word is for us, that we were to
-
go into what all the world, Great Commission shirt.
-
This is what we should put on every day and go out and the
-
light. And the love of God.
-
And show it to the world. Amen.
-
So is another scripture. Let's go to James.
-
It's me, James, 1:22, and 25. Give we want to make sure that
-
we are in the know and we're not just listening.
-
It says here do not merely listen to the word as so to
-
deceive yourselves, do what it says, anyone who listens to the
-
word but does not do what it says.
-
Is like someone who looks at his face in the mirror but then
-
after looking at it goes away and immediately forgets what he
-
looks like, but whoever looks intently into the perfect law
-
that gives freedom Mm and continues in it.
-
Not forgetting what they have heard but doing it they will be
-
blessed in what they do. You see the Lord wants us to be
-
able to hear the word. So what was that last part?
-
So we could do let's do it one more time tonight.
-
Let's say So we can do. He doesn't want us to just take
-
in information. He wants a true transformation.
-
So what do you want to know church?
-
What do you want to know? We should want to know all that
-
God has for us all that he has for us in his kingdom.
-
All right, we're going to go to First, John 2 21st, John 2:20.
-
And again, we've said we've got the great one living on the
-
inside and it says in verse 20. But you have been anointed by
-
the Holy One and you have all the knowledge, I write to you,
-
not because you do not know the truth.
-
But because, you know, it and because no lie is of the truth.
-
We have the truth living on the inside of us.
-
If we've been born again, amen, that was my final scripture
-
tonight because I want to leave I want the truth.
-
Don't want to leave in Al, I want to leave with what the what
-
the Lord is given and is that he wants us to walk.
-
In this truth each and every day, he doesn't want us to
-
desire to have a bunch of facts and a bunch of statistics and a
-
bunch of things that we can be armed with.
-
And again I don't diminish higher education, you know, I
-
personally have had goals in my life that I've achieved and many
-
things God's blade on my heart to do in the future.
-
ER, because we, you know, there are things that we need to learn
-
to be able to grow in whatever God's called us to do, you know,
-
if he's called us to the medical field, and there's some extra
-
training, you're going to have to do, if he's called you to be
-
a teacher, you're going to have to learn certain skills to be
-
able to hold on to those things and do that.
-
As an educator yourself, are going to have to learn.
-
What does it mean to be a teacher, right?
-
If you're a welder, if your condition Construction, Right,
-
there's different ways to do different things, but you're
-
going to have to go and learn those things.
-
And those things are great, but the greatest thing you can learn
-
as a Believer, no matter what field God's called you in is
-
that you Learn to hear the holy ghost that you learn to stop and
-
listen so that you can truly hear what the Lord is saying in
-
his word so that you can go and you can do it.
