Thanks for checking out the Anchor Faith Message podcast
-
from St. Augustine, FL.
-
Now enjoy this message. OK, tonight to this morning.
-
Not tonight. We're going to talk about
-
possessing your soul. This is such a huge subject in
-
the Kingdom of God. You know when you get
-
transferred out of the the domain of darkness and into the
-
the Kingdom of of His son, we get born again.
-
Our spirits are brand new. And then?
-
One week, one month, one year later, we keep going around
-
these same, these same mountains.
-
We keep going around these same strongholds in our mind.
-
We keep going around these same loops and and we we're like time
-
out. I thought I was a brand new
-
person. I thought I was a brand new
-
creature and you are. Your spirit is brand new, but
-
God is not going to do anything about your mind or your body.
-
You have to do it. Everything that you need is
-
supplied for you, and we're going to look at what strategy
-
you need to do to possess your mind.
-
Because this body right here, man, there's so many great
-
things happening in our body. But the scripture says that we
-
should be of 1 mind and one spirit, one love, one heart, one
-
passion, one mind. It says one mind multiple times.
-
How do we get in one mind? It has to do with your thoughts,
-
your thought life, What you think is a very, very big deal.
-
A very big deal. So let's first start in Luke 21
-
verse 19. It says in your patience.
-
Possess ye your soul. You know what's amazing about
-
this scripture is that the whole part before it and after it is
-
talking about, these are the signs of the the, the last days.
-
This is what's going to happen. You know, families will be
-
against families, nation against nation.
-
There's going to be earthquakes, famines.
-
All these things are going to happen right in the smack middle
-
of that. It says in your patience.
-
Possess ye your soul. And then it goes on to it says
-
give us some more in time realities but but that is right
-
in the middle of it. Why is that a big deal?
-
Because no matter what happens in this world, what's going to
-
happen in these last days, you've got to have control of
-
this. This is going to determine your
-
destiny, how you think in the Kingdom of God.
-
And so when you went home, when you got born again, whether it's
-
years ago, whether it was last week, you looked in the mirror,
-
you didn't look any different, but you've got God in you,
-
Christ in you, the hope of glory.
-
But now you've got to do something to change this.
-
And and this is for all of our new believers in here, but all
-
of our mature believers, because you're always renewing your
-
mind. You're always doing it.
-
So hook up with me as we as we dive into this.
-
So when when it says in your patience, possess your soul,
-
that word, patience does not mean that you're just sitting on
-
the couch watching the hurricane watching.
-
You know, you're not just sitting there going, God's going
-
to change my thinking. Now it doesn't work like that.
-
That word, patience, means in your steadfastness, in your
-
activeness, in your constant endurance.
-
And it means to bear bravely and calmly so in your steadfastness,
-
in your your your courage, your your being brave.
-
You have to possess your soul. You have to do it.
-
And that's why the scripture, you've heard me say this one to
-
a bunch of times, be anxious for nothing but in everything, with
-
prayer and Thanksgiving, it doesn't matter what comes to
-
you. You've got to learn this, this
-
choice of victory every single day.
-
Every day. Nobody chooses it for you.
-
You have to choose it every day. And then it goes on in Luke 2124
-
and it says, but take heed to yourself, lest your hearts be
-
weighed down with carousing or drunkenness.
-
Now I trust none of us are doing that, but it also says the with
-
the cares of this life. Don't let your heart be weighed
-
down with the cares of this life and that day.
-
Come on you unexpectedly. In other words, take heed to
-
your soul. Take heed to what you're
-
thinking. You know you think thousands of
-
thoughts every day, every day. How do you capture those?
-
We're going to talk about it Romans chapter 12 verses one and
Romans 12 chapter mention
-
two, says, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the
-
mercies of God that you present your bodies.
-
Remember, he's he's not going to do it.
-
You got to do it. Present your bodies a living
-
sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable
-
service, and do not be conformed to this world, but be
-
transformed. By the renewing of your mind
-
that you would prove what is that good and acceptable and
-
perfect will of God. So it says don't be conformed
-
but be transformed. The only way that you're going
-
to know the will of God is if you're being transformed, if
-
you're repenting, if you're changing your.
-
We've heard that word many, many times from up here.
-
Change your thinking. Repentance means to change your
-
thinking. You're always changing your
-
thinking. God's not going to do it.
-
He's equipped you to do it first, Thessalonians chapter 5,
-
verse 23 says. Now may the God of peace himself
-
sanctify you completely and may your whole spirit, soul and body
-
be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
-
Spirit, soul and body. Spirit, soul and body.
-
Your thought Life. One choice.
-
Every single day affects all three parts of your being,
-
spiritual, emotional, and physical.
-
We have a tendency to separate our body if we kind of think
-
it's separate, and then we have our spirit man, and then we have
-
our mind over here that we know we kind of need to get a hold
-
of. But all three of those work in
-
unity together, and the way that you think affects your health.
-
It affects your emotions. It affects everything.
-
I'm not a doctor, but I'm going to act like one for just a
-
second. Through your five senses,
-
Through your five senses, you, you get all kinds of information
-
and it hits your frontal lobe. It's just coming at you all the
-
time, whether it's trials or or circumstances in your life.
-
Whatever it is, it's it's hitting you.
-
It's right here. After it goes there, it goes
-
straight to this main organ. I think it's called the
-
hypothalamine. And that affects everyone of
-
your systems, your inflammatory system, your endocrine system,
-
your your everything, every system that you have in your
-
body. Debbie's shaking her head
-
because she's a nurse. She could probably tell me all
-
of them. It affects everything.
-
So what you do when those things come right then is hugely
-
important that you don't just take the thought that came to
-
you that was negative, that mountain that just landed in
-
front of you, and you go, oh. Man, I guess we're not going to
-
make it. I guess we're not going to be
-
able to pay that because that's what that's what hit me just
-
then. So I guess that's the truth.
-
Oh, choose this day. Choose this day.
-
What you're going to, what you're going to decide.
-
Life or death, Blessing or cursing.
-
It's your choice every day. And it's not a choice you made
-
the day, you just the day you got born again.
-
It's the choice you make every day, all day.
-
Because I can make that choice when I wake up in the morning,
-
but then I can get to work and something happen and I need to
-
make that choice again. You're always making it.
-
If you want to be victorious in life, you've got to conquer
-
this. You have to conquer it.
-
So you think your thoughts are a big deal?
-
They're huge. They affect everything.
-
So what's the plan for our soul according to scripture?
-
Third, John Two says, beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all
-
things and be in health just as your soul prospers.
-
So it's saying you're going to be in health if your soul is
-
prospering, emotional and physical and mental health if
-
your soul. You want to talk about mental
-
health in here? God, God, God's got your mental
-
health. If you'll just yield to him, he
-
will wash and change everything up here so that you're not going
-
around the same mountains, the same loops all the time.
-
You know it. We could all, we could all say,
-
Yep, man, I I keep dealing with that same thing every year, that
-
same cycle, that same. We shouldn't be in cycles.
-
We should not be going around the same mountain all the time.
-
Our marriages shouldn't be stinking up every year.
-
We should be changing, going from faith to faith, from glory
-
to glory, changing, being transformed all the time.
-
You ought to be able to look back and go, man.
-
I'm not where I was, thank God. But I'm also not where I'm going
-
to be. I mean you, you ought to have a
-
moment every day and just go, oh, thank you, Lord, for for
-
what you brought me out of. Thank you, Lord, for what you've
-
delivered me out of a heart of Thanksgiving is huge.
-
And we'll talk about that. So that word, soul there in that
-
scripture is your psyche. It's your thoughts and and when
-
it says it's supposed to prosper, you're supposed to be
-
successful in your thought life well off.
-
And you're deciding. You're thinking you're you're
-
feeling. It's a peaceful way.
-
The scripture says you should have a sound mind, a peaceful
-
mind. You know if you're at peace or
-
not. You know if you have joy on the
-
inside. You know if there's stress.
-
You know one thought. It's happened to me before, more
-
than once. A thought will come and all of a
-
sudden your heart will go like that, just from a thought.
-
You think your thoughts don't affect you and your physical
-
body. They affect everything.
-
You've got to be purposeful every day, and it's not hard.
-
The scripture says today you you've got to do everything you
-
can just to enter into his rest. It's what he's done for you.
-
What is that REST? That rest is that I'm seated.
-
I know where I'm seated in heavenly places.
-
I'm I'm far above all rule and authority and power and dominion
-
and every name that's named. But there's a war happening, you
-
know, There's more than one heaven, and there's a war
-
happening in the heavens, a spiritual war.
-
And those fiery darts, he's accusing you day and night, day
-
and night. And he's not going to stop.
-
So you better understand what what battle you're fighting, But
-
you're fighting from a place of victory.
-
All you got to do is speak the word.
-
All you got to do is rejoice when you face those trials of
-
many kinds. OK, let me stay focused.
-
It's a peaceful way. I want to read that scripture to
-
you in a different translation. Dear friend, I pray that you're
-
doing well in every way and that you're healthy.
-
Just as your soul is healthy, what good is it to inherit this
-
Kingdom of God that the Father has so gladly given his children
-
if we're not enjoying every bit of it, getting to embrace every
-
bit of it? And it's not just for us, it's
-
so that we can bring this freedom to people outside of
-
here. When we're at West Augustine,
-
whatever we're doing, dining with dignity, whatever we're
-
doing in in our community and the world and the nations so
-
that we're free, so that we're not the freaks that people will
-
look at that are in church and are not free.
-
There's a lot of people that are in sitting in churches.
-
And walk out and they're no different.
-
And it's it's no different. And like in the Old Testament
-
saw, David came and he played for him and there was an
-
anointing and he had a piece when David played and then he
-
and then David left and he was tormented again.
-
Church people do that. We should not do that.
-
This place that we come into is our our safe haven.
-
We shut the door. We get a prescription for for
-
our lives. We we get in here and we learn
-
the word and we we find out what to do and how to overcome.
-
And then we go out there and we do it and we live it.
-
This is every day. God, it's you I live for.
-
Not just Sundays and Wednesdays. It's every day a mind loop.
-
Let me let me just explain that a a loop in your mind.
-
You know how when your dog goes outside and makes a track in
-
your yard, that's what your thoughts do.
-
They make a loop inside your brain and it affects every
-
chemical in your body, every chemical.
-
We got to get out of these loops.
-
We got to quit going around this same race track.
-
We got to start dealing with it. And you have the Holy Ghost.
-
You have discernment. If you're born again,
-
Spearfield, and you've got the you've got the Holy Ghost on the
-
inside, within you and upon you, and he's talking to you every
-
day, he's talking to you. Are you yielding to what he's
-
saying? OK, let's go to 2nd Corinthians,
-
chapter 10, verses 3 through 5. It says, for though we walk in
-
the flesh, we do not war. This is the battle I was talking
-
about. For though we walk in the flesh,
-
we do not war according to the flesh.
-
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in
-
God, mighty in God. Let me say that again, because
-
when I say the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but they
-
are actually mighty in God, Something inside you ought to be
-
like. Yes, yes, they're mighty.
-
The, the, the weapons that I have are mighty in God.
-
Let me read it again. I'm going to give you another
-
chance. For the weapons of our warfare
-
are not carnal, but mighty. In God For the yes, Amen.
-
For the pulling down of stronghold.
-
You don't have to have a stronghold in your mind.
-
For the pulling down of strongholds, casting down
-
arguments, and every high thing that exalts itself against the
-
knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to
-
the obedience of Christ, let me read an Amplified.
-
For though we walk in the flesh as mortal man, we are not
-
carrying on our spiritual warfare according to the flesh
-
and using the weapons of man. The weapons of our warfare are
-
not physical weapons of flesh and blood.
-
Our weapons are divinely. Powerful for the destruction of
-
fortresses. Some people have fortresses in
-
their mind. We are destroying sophisticated
-
arguments. I I know a few people have have
-
those sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud
-
thing that sets itself up against the true knowledge of
-
God. And we are taking every thought
-
captive and and every purpose captive to the obedience of
-
Christ. That's our job.
-
Take every thought. Captive.
-
You have to understand the war that you're fighting.
-
It's in your mind, In your mind. The Bible is clear that we
-
should not be ignorant of the devil's devices.
-
Second Corinthians chapter 2, verse 11 says lest Satan should
-
get an advantage of us. For we are not ignorant of his
-
devices or his evil purpose. We're not ignorant of it.
-
His devices let me read it to you in a different in a
-
different translations. But I fear lest somehow as a
-
serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be
-
corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
-
Was that was a different scripture?
-
Yes, the first one was Second Corinthians 211.
-
This one was Second Corinthians 11/3.
-
So sorry. So I fear less.
-
Somehow, as a serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, that your
-
minds would be corrupted from the simplicity that is in
-
Christ. Now I want to read that one in
-
the Amplified, but I'm afraid that even as the serpent
-
beguiled Eve by his cunning, your minds may be corrupted and
-
led astray from the simplicity of your sincere and pure
-
devotion to Christ. His end goal that the enemy his
-
His end goal is to steal your mind, to destroy it for you to
-
We sang. The first song that we sang said
-
The chains are broken. Are the chains broken?
-
Spiritually speaking, they are. But are but are you doing what
-
you need to do every day to make sure these chains are broken?
-
Revelation, chapter 12, verses 10 and 11.
-
It says. Then I heard a loud voice saying
-
In heaven. Now salvation and strength in
-
the Kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ have come
-
for the accuser of our brethren who accused them before our God.
-
Day and night has been cast down, and they overcame him by
-
the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.
-
And they did not love their lives to the death.
-
This scripture shows us he is the accuser of the brethren
-
night and day. But it also says, you overcome
-
him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of your testimony.
-
That is not for you to get up here and talk about where you
-
been. Testimony.
-
That word, the the word of your testimony means what you're
-
declaring this raining resonance that's coming out of your mouth.
-
What you're saying that God says.
-
That's the word of your testimony.
-
So you overcome by the blood of the lamb and by what you're
-
saying, by what you're believing, by what you're
-
meditating on. That's how you're overcoming day
-
and night, day and night. He's always accusing you
-
condemnation, guilt. You're never going to break free
-
from this. He's always throwing those fiery
-
darts at you. When are you going to rise up?
-
When are you going to stand up and say no more?
-
I'm taking captive that thought and I'm putting it underneath
-
the obedience of the word of God.
-
That's not who God says I am. God, you said this.
-
You said I'm an overcomer. You said I have the joy of the
-
Lord. You said your peace guards my
-
heart and my mind. You said that God, You said, He
-
said to put him in remembrance of His word.
-
And it's not because he forgot it.
-
He didn't forget it, but you should be saying it.
-
He's not ever going to weary of hearing it.
-
You're activating things when you say it.
-
You got to speak it. Ephesians, Chapter 6, Our
Ephesians 6 chapter mention
-
strategy. Let's jump into this.
-
You ought to be like. You ought to be like ooh, I'm
-
ready for this. Because when I get out of here,
-
I'm going to conquer some stuff. I'm going to conquer some
-
thoughts that I've been dealing with for a while.
-
Ephesians Chapter 6 for our wrestling match.
Ephesians 6 chapter mention
-
I'm going to tell you part of it in a different translation.
-
It says for our wrestling match is not against persons with
-
bodies. My wrestling match is not
-
against you. It's not against my family.
-
Your wrestling match is not against people.
-
Your wrestling match is against what's going on in that heavenly
-
realm, the one that he has dominion of.
-
That's where your wrestling match is, so let's read it.
-
If he's in Chapter 6. Finally, my brethren, be strong
-
in the Lord and in the power of His might.
-
It's the unseen. The unseen is way more real than
-
what you see, way more real than what you see in the power of His
-
might. And put on the whole armor of
-
God that you may be able to stand against the Wiles of the
-
devil for we do not. Sometimes we don't put on our
-
armor. And that's the problem.
-
When I was a kid, I ran out of the house without my shirt on
-
and I was horrified because I realized I was just a little
-
girl. So in a big deal, I guess.
-
But but I I ran out and was like, oh, shirt on.
-
I cried. I ran back home.
-
We leave. We leave like that.
-
We leave our houses like that naked, without our, without our
-
armor on. For we do not wrestle against
-
flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,
-
against the rulers of the darkness of this age, and
-
against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly
-
places he's organized. But you know he didn't get all
-
that on his own. He came from heaven.
-
We know where he came from and all his little angels, and he's
-
got an organized little system. He's running.
-
We ain't scared against the rulers of the darkness of this
-
age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly
-
places. Therefore, therefore, therefore
-
this is what it's there for. Therefore take up the whole
-
armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil
-
day. We all have evil days.
-
Not just talking about the last days.
-
We all have evil days. You have some days that try to
-
be evil. We got a lot of amens on that
-
that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and
-
having done all to stand, stand there for why?
-
Why does it have to tell us to stand so many times?
-
Stand there for having girded your waist with truth, having on
-
the breastplate of righteousness.
-
And this is the righteousness of God by faith.
-
This is the one that you received by faith through grace,
-
through Christ alone. OK, who you are in Christ, this
-
breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with
-
the preparation of the gospel of peace, and above all, above all,
-
above all the shield of faith with which you will be able to
-
quench all the fiery darts of the evil one, all of them, all
-
of them, all the fiery darts, and take the helmet of salvation
-
and the sword of the Spirit. You know salvation is your
-
absolute deliverance in every area.
-
That's what salvation is delivered in your mind,
-
delivered and everything. But you have to apply it and
-
take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which
-
is the word of God, praying always with all prayer and
-
supplication in the spirit, being watchful to this end with
-
all perseverance and supplication for all the Saints.
-
Remember 2nd Corinthians 10 that we already read, versus 3
-
through 5? For the weapons of our warfare
-
are not carnal, but they're mighty in God, this is the
-
battle that we're fighting, putting on our armor.
-
We're going to look at ways that we can do this.
-
The problem is that we as believers, we know Christ is in
-
us, but we fail because we don't act on the word every single
-
day. We get caught up in our
-
schedules, caught up in our lives, caught up with our kids,
-
caught up in what we're doing, caught up with emotions, and
-
we're not actually allowing our minds to be transformed.
-
So Psalms 13 two says, It says don't take counsel in your soul.
-
Such a great scripture. You have a choice to make.
-
When thoughts come to you, they're going to take them
-
captive or you're just going to let them, let them sit there.
-
When I was a kid, a bird flew over my head and actually pooped
-
and and I did clean it. I didn't stay there and let it,
-
let it stay in my hair. I cried.
-
I freaked out. But, but sometimes things are
-
coming all the time and we just we just melt into it.
-
We just receive it. Maybe that's how I am.
-
That's how my mom was that's how my dad was.
-
I I guess that's that's probably how I am.
-
You know that those those hereditary genes in you
-
medically, you know, where people say well, so and so had
-
cancer and and maybe I'm going to get it, you know those genes
-
are not activated unless you activate them.
-
And you activate them by thinking on them you're
-
redeemed. You're redeemed by the blood of
-
the lamb. And by saying I'm redeemed from
-
all sickness and all cancer and anything that that tries to
-
come, I don't care if my granny had it.
-
You don't have to be in the same.
-
You're not in the same bloodline.
-
You don't have to be in the same generational curses.
-
Psalm 13, two. How long shall I take counsel in
-
my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily?
-
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?
-
We need to ask ourselves that question.
-
How much more am I going to keep taking counsel in my soul?
-
Well, this is how I feel and you don't understand.
-
You don't understand what I'm going through.
-
There is nothing new under the sun, so you really can't have
-
that excuse. Anything that comes to you is
-
common to man. Everybody.
-
Jeez, everybody's been through it.
-
Do not take counsel in your own soul.
-
Having sorrow in your heart. How long will our enemies be
-
exalted out No more. You have to say no more.
-
You have to walk out of here today and go.
-
I'm going to apply these principles.
-
I'm going to apply the word every day #1.
-
Live by decision every day, every day by the word and the
-
Spirit. Not by your own soul, your own
-
feelings, your own circumstances.
-
Live by decision every single day.
-
Let's look at David. David is such a great example to
-
look at. Let's look at him in First
1 Samuel 30 chapter mention
-
Samuel chapter 30. Think about what you would do in
-
this circumstance now. It happened when David and his
-
men came to Ziglag on the third day that the Amalekites had
-
invaded the South and Ziglag and attacked Ziglag and burned it
-
with fire and had taken captive the women and those who were
-
there. So David was off on a some
-
military thing and this is what happened while he was gone.
-
The women, they had taken, the women and the children who were
-
there from small to great. They did not kill anyone, but
-
carried them away and went their way.
-
So David and his men came to the city, and there it was burned
-
with fire, and their wives and their sons and their daughters
-
had been taken captive. Then David and the people who
-
were with him lifted up their voices, and they wept until they
-
had no more power to weep. And David's two wives, I don't
-
know how to say her name. And Abigail had been taken
-
captive, And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke
-
of Stoningham. So then they they turned on him,
-
for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the
-
people was grieved, and every man for his sons and daughters.
-
But David strengthened and encouraged himself into the Lord
-
his God. Can you imagine?
-
Do you think he had any emotions?
-
I mean, it says he does. Do you think he had any?
-
What was dealing with any emotions of fear do you think
-
Shatter at Meshach and a Bendigo didn't have any fear?
-
You think I didn't feel anything?
-
You think all these Old Testament stories that sometimes
-
we read and go, wow, what would we do?
-
Sometimes we we're a little bit more carnal than we want to
-
think we are. We read these Old Testament
-
stories and go, oh gosh, what would I do in that circle?
-
You think they didn't deal with the same emotions that you would
-
deal with, but it said he strengthened and encouraged
-
himself in the in the Lord Paul and Silas in the jail.
-
You think they wanted or felt like singing praises and
-
thanking God? This is your victory, church.
-
This is your victory every day, no matter what's in front of
-
you. What are you going to do?
-
What are you going to do? He strengthened and he
-
encouraged himself in the Lord. Oh, we got to meditate on the
-
faithfulness of God. Can you go from a trial or
-
despair or grieving to just thanking God?
-
Oh, yes you can, and you should. You should.
-
You must. It's actually an act of your
-
will. Your victory every day is an act
-
of your will. You have to live by decision.
-
You cannot just que sera sera. Whatever happens is going to
-
happen. You can't live like that and and
-
and overcome in the Kingdom of God.
-
Psalm 4211. David, again, why are you cast
-
down, oh, my soul? And why are you disquieted
-
within me, hoping God, for I shall yet praise him the help of
-
my countenance. And my God, this is how you
-
overcome. You have to tell your soul.
-
Why are you so sad? What's wrong with you, God, you
-
said this. This is how you overcome.
-
I'm going to put my hope in God, soul.
-
Why are you so depressed? Why are you so sad?
-
God, I thank you, Lord, that your joy is my strength.
-
Thank you, Lord, that I'm quickened today to do what
-
you've called me to do. Thank you, Lord, that you're
-
moving the obstacles out of my way.
-
Thank you, Father. That you provided everything
-
that I need in Christ Jesus. That's how you win.
-
David knew how to do it. We how much more who have the
-
Holy Ghost within and upon us? Psalm 9419.
-
In the multitude of my anxieties within me your comforts delight
-
my soul. It doesn't matter what anxieties
-
come to you. His comforts will will give you
-
peace in your soul. But every day you've got to
-
choose. Let me read.
-
I already said it, but let me read Deuteronomy 30.
-
See, I've said today before you Life and good, death and evil.
-
In that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk
-
in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, his
-
judgments that you would live and multiply, and that the Lord
-
God would bless you in the land which you go to possess.
-
But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, that's a
-
big statement. But if your heart turns away so
-
that you do not hear and are drawn away and worship other
-
gods and serve them, I announced to you today that you shall
-
surely perish. You know, we read that the
-
worship other, the gods and stars.
-
Then we think, well, I don't, I don't really have any idols
-
because we think that's such a I got to have a statue at home or
-
something. There's a lot of things that
-
become idols in our lives, a job, a relationship, money.
-
If you're empty in any kind of way and you don't deal with it,
-
something will become your idol. You will try to put your
-
security in someone or something to fix you.
-
And it will never fix you. Never, never fix you.
-
James, Chapter One. I didn't finish reading, dude.
-
Army 30I got caught up. Okay, let me finish reading it.
-
If your heart turns away so you do not hear and are drawn away,
-
and worship other gods and serve them.
-
I announced to you today that you will surely perish.
-
You shall not prolong your days in the land in which you cross
-
over the Jordan to go in and possess.
-
Now they went in and possess the land.
-
But he says, you're not going to live long in it and you're not
-
going to do well in it. Just because you've come into
-
the land, you've come into the Kingdom of God, does not mean
-
you're going to prolong your days or you're going to have
-
victory in it. Unless you choose, unless you
-
live on purpose. And like, unless you make that
-
decision every day, I call heaven and earth to you as a
-
witness today against you. And I almost want to say that
-
the the and me wants to say to you right now.
-
I call heaven and earth as a witness today against you.
-
That I've I didn't say before you laugh and death He did That
-
I've said before you life and death, blessing and cursing,
-
therefore choose life. That both you and your
-
descendants may live. That you may love the Lord your
-
God, that you'll obey His voice and you may cling to him.
-
For he is your life and the length of your days, and that
-
you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your father's
-
Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to give them.
-
James. Chapter One, my brethren, my
-
cistern, count it all joy when you fall into various trials
-
knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
-
That's all you need to know. You can leave now.
-
That's all you need to know. That's all you got to know right
-
there. Count it all.
-
Joy, he's not counting it for you.
-
You have to count it. And it says that as long as I
-
know that when trials come, it's just testing my faith.
-
And it's producing perseverance. You ought to jump at those
-
trials. You ought to be like, bring it
-
on. I'm not moved.
-
Ha ha ha. That's how you want to face
-
stuff. But we we curl up in a ball.
-
But let patients have its perfect work, that you may be
-
perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
-
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to
-
all, liberally and without reproach, and it will be given
-
to Him. Man, you don't know what to do,
-
ever. God knows He'll tell you.
-
All you have to do is ask him. All you have to do is ask him.
-
But let him ask him. Faith with no doubting.
-
For here doubts, is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by
-
the wind. The doubting is here.
-
It's right here, driven and tossed by the wind.
-
For let not that man suppose that he'll receive anything from
-
the Lord, for he's a double minded man and stable in all his
-
ways. You know, the Bible talks about
-
so many different kinds of minds in Scripture, positive and
-
negative. Number two.
-
You got the first one right. OK, #2 meditate day and night.
-
These are this is your prescription.
-
You're in control of your soul, your emotions, your mind.
-
Joshua 1/8 This book of the law shall not depart from your
-
mouth. It shall not come depart from
-
your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night,
-
that you may observe to do according to all that's written
-
in it. For then you'll make your way
-
prosperous, and then you'll have good success.
-
Philippians, chapter 4, verse 8. Finally, brethren, whatever
-
things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are
-
just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely.
-
Whatever things are of a good report, if there's any virtue,
-
if there's anything praiseworthy, meditate on that.
-
Meditate on these things, the things which you learned and
-
received and heard and saw me these do, and the God of peace
-
will be with you. Psalms 1.
-
Meditate day and night, day and night, day and night.
-
Blessed is the man who walks not in the council of the ungodly,
-
or what the ungodly thinks, nor stands in the path of sinners,
-
nor sits in the seat of the scornful.
-
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in this law in his
-
word he meditates day and night. That man shall be like a tree
-
planted by the rivers of water that brings forth fruit in its
-
season, and whose leaf does not wither.
-
And whatever he does will prosper.
-
Whatever he does will prosper. You know, Psalm 92.
-
I don't have that in my notes, but it's It talks about again in
-
old fruit, in in old fruit. In old age, you'll still bear
-
fruit. We ought to always be bearing
-
fruit, no matter what our age is.
-
Always be growing, always be changing.
-
Because right here, because you're transforming this,
-
because you're choosing every day whom I'm going to serve
-
every day, who are you going to serve?
-
The reason we don't conquer is not a power issue.
-
It's a strategy and a discipline issue.
-
The power is there. You've got the power.
-
I wanted to. I wanted to bust out.
-
You've got the power. You have that.
-
It's the strategy and it's the discipline to do it every day.
-
Every day. Isaiah 26, three and four.
-
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on
-
you because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever.
-
For Yahweh, the Lord is your everlasting strength.
-
He'll keep you in perfect peace if you'll keep your mind on him
-
all the time. You can walk through death, you
-
can walk through trial, you can walk through no matter what
-
comes to you. And you can have peace because
-
that peace surpasses your understanding.
-
This is not a worldly peace. This is God's peace and and and
-
it doesn't even you can't even comprehend it.
-
I have peace. I remember my dad passed away
-
and God, the Holy Ghost told me he was going to pass.
-
So I knew I was prepared. And so the supernatural peace
-
that covered me had such a peace didn't mean I didn't cry.
-
When you go through things and you grieve, even in counseling,
-
there's stages of grief. There's things that we go
-
through, but we ought not to still be in those stages a year
-
later, two years later, we ought to be coming out of those
-
things. God doesn't want you to stay in
-
that. Stay heavy.
-
OK, #3, you got to say so. You got to say so.
-
You overcome by the word of your testimony, by speaking the word
-
of God out. Psalms 1070.
-
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good and his mercy endures
-
forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say
-
so Who has redeemed from the hand of the enemy?
-
Remember what we did, the blessings and the curses.
-
Remember in Deuteronomy 28 when it said that they would be smite
-
with madness, that they would have astonishment of heart, all
-
of those things. You're redeemed from all that,
-
but you've got to say so. So when heaviness comes, when
-
depression comes, when fear comes, you've got to say
-
something. God, you didn't give me a spirit
-
of fear, but of power and of love, and of a sound, sound
-
mind. You have to say something.
-
If we keep on reading down in verse eight of that of that
-
passage, it says, oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord
-
for his goodness and for his wonderful works to the children
-
of men. For he satisfies the longing
-
soul and fills the hungry soul with goodness.
-
And the last point I want you to have is #4, Thanksgiving and
-
praise. You have to be purposeful every
-
day to give thanks. I almost always want to mention
-
Romans chapter one, and it's not in my notes.
-
But the scripture says although they knew God, they did not
-
honor him as God, nor were they thankful.
-
And so he gave them over to a debased mind.
-
A debased mind. You're not thankful, you're not
-
going to yield. Then the powers of darkness have
-
have access to you. They weren't thankful and they
-
didn't honor him as God. Psalm chapter 80.
Psalms 80 chapter mention
-
Lord, oh Lord, how excellent is your name and all the earth who
-
have set your glory above the heavens?
-
Listen to verse two. And I want to tell you what it
-
means. It says out of the mouth of
-
babes and nursing infants, you have ordained strength or
-
ordained praise. That is not just talking about
-
babies. That's talking about his
-
creation. That's you.
-
That's me. So it says out of the mouth of
-
you, out of the mouth of my creation.
-
I have ordained praise because of the enemies, so that you will
-
silence the enemy and the Avenger.
-
Do I need to say that again out of the mouth of my creation?
-
I have ordained praise and strength because of the enemies,
-
so that you will silence the enemy and the Avenger.
-
When you give him praise and you thank him because of what his
-
word says, it silences the plan of the enemy for your life, his
-
voice and your life. It makes it null and void.
-
And he's ordained you for that. He's ordained you to praise.
-
He's ordained you to be thankful.
-
A thankful heart, the veggie tale says, is a happy heart for
-
real. And I used to sing.
-
We used to sing. I sing it mainly to our girls
-
when they were little. Because thankful heart is a
-
happy heart. Be glad for what you have.
-
That's an easy way to start. So I would sing that to them
-
like all the time, every day. Do you remember that, Coco?
-
Yeah, So. So it cultivated some
-
thankfulness and there's there's thankfulness in our home.
-
And you ought to be like that with everybody that you're
-
around. I love you.
-
I'm thankful for you. Thank you and mean it, mean it.
-
Okay Psalm 42. I'm wrapping up here.
-
Psalm 42. When David asked why he was, he
-
was downcast When we read that scripture earlier, he said For
-
yet, I will still praise you. Why are you downcast so much?
-
No matter what I'm going through for yet, I will still give you
-
praise no matter how I feel. First Thessalonians, chapter 5,
-
verses 16 through 18. In the midst of your emotions,
-
you have to choose life. You have to choose the word.
-
You have to choose praise if you want to be free, if you truly
-
want to be free first, that's only in chapter 5.
-
Verses 16 through 18 says rejoice.
-
Always pray without ceasing in everything give thanks and
-
everything give thanks. How do you do that?
-
How do you do that when you have, if you have a bill that
-
you can't pay? Are you saying thank you, Lord,
-
that I have a bill I can't pay? No.
-
You're saying thank you, Lord, that you provide all my needs.
-
I'm not in denial, and we're not acting it to be weird.
-
I I have the bill. It's.
-
I see the bill. It's there.
-
I don't have the money for it. But, God, you said I have the
-
money for it. You said that you meet every one
-
of my needs. So thank you, Lord, that you're
-
providing that. And I'm not going to worry one
-
bit Now, if you don't have a job, get a job.
-
If I can just say you can't just sit on, you know, there's
-
there's natural laws that you got to do.
-
Okay, rejoice, always pray without ceasing, and everything
-
give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus.
-
For you clausions. 315 And let the peace of God rule in your
-
hearts, to which also you were called in one body.
-
And be thankful, be thankful. 1st Corinthians 1557.
-
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord
-
Jesus Christ, through our Lord Jesus Christ, Ephesians chapter
-
5, verses 19 and 20 says, speaking to one another in
-
psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody
-
in your heart to the Lord. You know it's OK to sing
-
everywhere. Whether you can sing or not is
-
irrelevant. It's OK to sing.
-
You should have a song in your heart every day.
-
I wish we would have pulled up the video when when a song was
-
playing on the church hall and I walked out of the bathroom.
-
It was a charity Gale and I and that my favorite part.
-
And Anjali was coming and we went at the same time.
-
Just because it was in there. You got to have a song in you.
-
You ought to be singing. You ought to be able to dance.
-
You ought to be able to have fun.
-
You ought to have this at home, not just when you're here.
-
Did I finish reading? Ephesians 5 versus 19 and 20.
-
Singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord and
-
giving thanks always. If you're getting water
-
baptized, you can be dismissed to go change.
-
Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the
-
name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Psalm 103 Bless the Lord Oh my
-
soul and all that is within me. Bless his holy name.
-
Bless the Lord Oh my soul, and forget not all his benefits.
-
You better not forget who forgives all your iniquities and
-
heals all your diseases. Who redeems your life from
-
destruction, and who crowns you with loving kindness and tender
-
mercies, who satisfies your mouth with good things so that
-
your youth is renewed like the Eagles.
-
Oh, you can refuse to be troubled.
-
You can refuse to yield to life circumstances.
-
You know, in Psalm 23, it says he was seated at the table in
-
the presence of his enemies. His enemies were there, and
-
they're they're always there shooting those fiery darts.
-
But I. But he stayed seated at the
-
table. And that's what you have to do.
-
You have to stay seated at the table every day and know that
-
those trials that come to you, they're they're under your feet.
-
You have dominion, You have authority.
-
You have the power on the inside of you, but you have to choose
-
it every day. Choose life.
-
Choose dominion. Choose what God says over what
-
your circumstances say. Romans chapter 8, verses 5 and
-
six For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on
-
the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the
-
Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
-
For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually
-
minded is life and peace. And the last scripture marked
-
1230 says, And you shall love the Lord your God with all your
-
heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, all your
-
heart, all your soul and all your mind, and with all your
-
strength. This is the first commandment.
-
We have got to possess our soul. We have got to take dominion in
-
our thought life. When you come down here for a
-
healing line or wherever you are, if you come down here for
-
anything and you get hands laid on you for sickness, in that
-
moment you received the healing. But if you walk away and a
-
symptom comes at you and you go, I don't think I got it.
-
You nullified it all. And so sometimes when people
-
come up for things or get hands laid on them for something you
-
want to say, okay. Now listen, this is what you got
-
to do. If you really want to conquer
-
it, you have to believe that what happened right here
-
happened by faith. It's done.
-
We're drawing a line in the sand.
-
Whatever thing it is today that you need to draw a line in the
-
sand, I'm. I'm not like my family.
-
The curse of the poverty is broken.
-
Mental illness is broken. We can help you find some
-
scriptures. You can do it on your own.
-
Get you some scriptures to stand on every single day, live it out
-
on purpose. Be purposeful, say it, speak it,
-
declare it, and then thank him. Thank him that it's done.
-
Thank you, Lord, that you've delivered me.
-
You've delivered me out of that heaviness, out of that
-
depression, out of that poverty, whatever it is, That's what you
-
have to do every day if you're going to have the victory.
-
So next time we have a service where where some of us take off
-
running, I'm going to be like they conquered right here.
-
I've been seeing them go around that same, that same mountain.
-
They did it. We can't do it for you, but you
-
have everything you need to do it, everything you need.
-
Now I want to make a call for anyone who has not made Jesus
-
Lord. That is the greatest decision to
