  1. Thanks for checking out the Anchor Faith Message podcast

  2. from St. Augustine, FL.

  3. Now enjoy this message. Oh man, settle down.

  4. I hadn't even said anything yet. Right?

  5. Happy to be here. You guys know I'm not from

  6. Florida because I obey the speed limit, but anyway, I've still

  7. got here on time. I think that speed limit is more

  8. of a suggestion for y'all. But anyway, glad to be here.

  9. What a privilege it is to be here, man.

  10. You guys have church on Wednesday night and y'all don't

  11. just come together for something little, man.

  12. You guys have full blown church, you know?

  13. And you guys have. I mean that's normal to y'all,

  14. but that's not normal. We travel a lot.

  15. We go to different churches all the time.

  16. And man, that's awesome. Just to be able to come

  17. somewhere like this. I mean that's you guys are

  18. blessed, you know we've known your pastors.

  19. Yeah, give something to have. Hallelujah.

  20. You guys are blessed. I've known your pastors for

  21. years and man, they're awesome people.

  22. Just what a wonderful place to be able to come here.

  23. But you know, as Kara said, we're going to, we're going to

  24. get into some of this tonight. Go to Matthew Chapter 9.

    Matthew 9 chapter mention

  25. That's we're turning there. I'll share a couple of things

  26. with you. The book, Simplify soul winning.

  27. You hear that You know you know, maybe a little confusing.

  28. What that is, is just a real simple book with simple

  29. principles that will help you share your faith with someone

  30. else in your life. Right.

  31. This is not. We have a mutual friend, Roddy

  32. Schaefer. You got he's probably ministered

  33. here before. You know he's a crusade

  34. evangelist man. I try to do a crusade one time

  35. and failed miserably. So I'm not a crusade evangelist.

  36. This. This book is not about that.

  37. But this book will help you to share your faith.

  38. Sure. Jesus, with those in your life,

  39. those that you have contact with.

  40. And so I encourage you to get a copy of that.

  41. Again, I apologize we missed our shipment by an hour and a half.

  42. Spent two hours on the phone with UPS trying to get him to

  43. let me come pick it up and they wouldn't.

  44. So anyway. But you know, we can get the.

  45. Books shipped to you. But if you'd like an E copy of

  46. the book, if you'll give us your your e-mail address, I'll send

  47. you a free E copy of it or be on PDF and you can read it on your

  48. phone or your tablet or computer or anything.

  49. But our goal is just to get the word out there.

  50. Amen. Just to get the word in there.

  51. As as we shared earlier, you know, our mission that God kind

  52. of gave us several years ago was to harvest harvesters.

  53. And that's what we want to do. Amen is harvest is plentiful

  54. here in Saint Augustine. Guess what?

  55. I'll only be here for a couple days.

  56. So it doesn't really help St. Augustine for me to know how to

  57. win souls, right? But he's got a whole bunch of

  58. people that are crazy enough about Jesus to come out to

  59. church on a Wednesday night. Hallelujah.

  60. Hey man. But so grab you a grab you a

  61. copy of that book. As Kara said, we're looking to

  62. double our partnership. And So what that means is we

  63. need to raise an additional $100,000 per year in support and

  64. an additional 100 partners per month.

  65. So if one person wants to write a check for 100,000, make my job

  66. much easier. But if you can't do that, we say

  67. for as little as $10 a month you can help feed hungry children in

  68. France. Mine, I have three boys and they

  69. eat all the time and they keep growing.

  70. I got to buy them clothes. So if y'all wouldn't eat so much

  71. and grow so much, I wanted to raise so much money.

  72. And Europe is expensive. That's the other thing.

  73. I talked to other missionaries and they tell me their budget

  74. was like, you couldn't rent a car over there for that much.

  75. And But anyway, God, I said this Sunday morning, I said, you

  76. know, in the Old Testament, one time the Lord said, is my arm

  77. too short? I mean, you know what I'm

  78. saying? His arm will reach all the way

  79. over there to France. His arm will reach wherever

  80. you're at in Saint Augustine. Amen.

  81. Hallelujah. God is good.

  82. Amen. So let's see.

  83. Yeah, we got that. All right.

  84. So sign up to partner, sign up to get our newsletter and find

  85. out what's going on with us. You know, as European

  86. missionaries, a lot of times what our job when we're here in

  87. the States is to kind of educate people as people say, Europe,

  88. you're you're a missionary to Europe.

  89. That's kind of weird because I thought that's where the gospel

  90. came to America. It was.

  91. But if you've ever heard the phrase, America is only one

  92. generation away from being a godless society.

  93. You can get on a plane and go with me to Europe and I'll show

  94. you first hand. Amen.

  95. It really is. Europe as a whole is about 3%

  96. born again. France one of the less that the

  97. least at 1%, less than 1% born again.

  98. And really, as we began to step into France, you know, our heart

  99. began to, as we began to pray and we began to research and

  100. take steps and go in and administer and pray and kind of

  101. spy it out, our hearts went to the towns and villages because

  102. we found out that's where nobody wanted to go, that's where none

  103. of the ministers wanted to go is and where none of the

  104. missionaries wanted to go. And we said let's go.

  105. And so, you know, we went. God led us and helped us to, you

  106. know, at by, at Rama. They told us if you're going to

  107. do something you've never done before, go find somebody else

  108. that's doing it and work with them.

  109. It's great. There's nobody doing that in

  110. France. So we said, Lord, what are we

  111. supposed to do? We said, well, let's go to

  112. language school. And the Lord said no.

  113. And I said, Lord, this is not a good idea.

  114. We'll do it. If I don't know how hard it was

  115. going to be, I probably would have said no.

  116. We're asked for another a transfer.

  117. But praise God, we got there. We learned a lot the last six

  118. years. And, you know, but we couldn't

  119. have done it without partner churches like you guys.

  120. I mean, just seriously, there's there's no other way.

  121. You know, as missionaries there were totally dependent upon

  122. support and so we can't, you know, can't work over there.

  123. I don't have any skills anyway, other than looking good and

  124. preaching and those don't pay a lot in France.

  125. So anyway, let's go to Matthew, Chapter 9, as I already told

    Matthew 9 chapter mention

  126. you, and we'll get into the word here tonight.

  127. You got something? I'm only here with you for a few

  128. moments, but I've got something that these things that I'm going

  129. to share with you tonight. I didn't read them on in a book.

  130. I didn't find them on somebody's blog or find a video on YouTube.

  131. This is stuff I walked out myself and it'll help you.

  132. Amen. I believe some of the things

  133. that I faced and overcome the last three or four years, that

  134. I'm not the only one in the body of Christ that are dealing with

  135. some of these things. Amen.

  136. And so I trust some of these things will be a blessing to you

  137. tonight. But let's pray, Father, we just

  138. thank you so much for the privilege of being here tonight.

  139. Father was such precious and wonderful people.

  140. Father, what a privilege it is to be here in St.

  141. Augustine with Pastor Earl and Marcy and their wonderful,

  142. wonderful congregation. We thank you tonight, Father,

  143. for the Holy Spirit. We think that he's giving

  144. revelation to each and everyone that's here or watching online,

  145. or we're listening later on. Father, We thank you, Lord, that

  146. you're opening our eyes. It would see wondrous things

  147. from your law opening our ears to hear what your word would

  148. saying to us, giving us wisdom, understanding and revelation of

  149. your word. Father.

  150. Helping us, Lord God, to have peace and freedom in our lives

  151. so that we can get our eyes off of ourselves and look to the

  152. harvest that's plentiful all around us.

  153. Father. You've given us a mission,

  154. Father, But it's. Hard to do that mission when

  155. we're dealing with so much junk ourselves.

  156. And so, Father, I thank you, Lord God, that you've given us

  157. the tools. And I thank you, Lord, that

  158. you're showing us how to use those tools, Father,

  159. effectively, efficiently, so we can.

  160. Run our race. So that we can reach the law.

  161. So we can bring in the harvest and see Jesus come back and take

  162. away a glorious church and be get to be a part of it.

  163. What a privilege, Lord God to Live Today.

  164. And so, Father, we thank you for that.

  165. Tonight we thank you for your word.

  166. We place a demand upon the anointing and just draw out of

  167. that exactly what you have for us to receive tonight.

  168. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

  169. We'll talk to you tonight. Tonight about 3 words talked

  170. about mission, position and condition.

  171. All right. So the first thing we're going

  172. to see here, well, the first thing I'm just going to kind of

  173. introduce and I thought out there, we're not going to spend

  174. much time on it because I know that y'all got a special treat

  175. for y'all. It's right outside.

  176. But anyway, the first thing we're talking about is our

  177. position when we receive Christ, When we come into the Kingdom of

  178. God, we all have the same position that make sense.

  179. So when we're in Christed as the way Mark Hankin said, I love

  180. that phrase in Christed. When we get in Christed or Born

  181. again, we are right with the Father.

  182. Same position as Jesus. I can't improve that position.

  183. I can't, you know, work extra or earn extra.

  184. Do anything else to change that position.

  185. That position is fixed. I'm born again.

  186. I'm righteous once I get filled with the Spirit of God.

  187. I've got you've got the same spirit if you've been filled

  188. with the Holy Spirit that the pastor.

  189. Earl and I get with the same one, you know, we don't have a

  190. different spirit because we got to sit under Brother Hagan, You

  191. know what I'm saying? It's not like the Lord said,

  192. hey, you got to sit under Brother Hagan.

  193. So here's a little difference. No, it's the same Holy Ghost.

  194. Same position, all right. You and I've.

  195. Got the same promises for us. In the word of God, there's not

  196. a separate book. For for ministers, there's not a

  197. separate book. You know, for one.

  198. We've all got the same promises. Amen.

  199. Now we've got different assignments.

  200. And we may have specifically different missions in our lives.

  201. You may not be called to go to France.

  202. I'm not called the pastor here in St.

  203. Augustine or go all the places that your pastor goes.

  204. But so we may have different assignments, But the basic

  205. mission, which is the second thing we're gonna spend a little

  206. time talking about, we all have the same thing.

  207. And that's. Harvest What do mean we?

  208. Sharing the love of God with those around us.

  209. They meant harvest. So let's look my lovely wife

  210. already talked about John 435 and I love when she when she

  211. shares that, you know you got to get your eyes off of yourself.

  212. We were teaching one time in England when we first got in

  213. there on on harvest and the Lord said the 1st wall we have to

  214. overcome to share the gospel with someone is the wall we've

  215. built around ourselves. So again, we got to get our eyes

  216. off of ourself. Right, so Matthew Chapter 9.

    Matthew 9 chapter mention

  217. Let's look here real quickly. Matthew Chapter 9, verse 35 says

    Matthew 9:35

  218. Jesus went about all the cities and villages teaching in their

  219. synagogues and preaching the gospel of the Kingdom and

  220. healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

  221. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on

  222. them. Because they were, they fainted

  223. and were scattered abroad, a sheep having no shepherd that

  224. says he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but

  225. the laborers are few. Now, three times Jesus uses this

  226. phrase. The first one is in John 435,

  227. the second one here is Matthew here in Matthew Chapter 9, verse

    Matthew 9:37

  228. 37. And the third one is over in

  229. Luke chapter 10, verse two. Same thing, he says.

    Luke 10 chapter mention

  230. Anybody y'all ever told your kids something?

  231. Three times? Everybody kids, me.

  232. Are you growing up and your parents ever told you something?

  233. Three times where I grew up in Louisiana.

  234. But the third time, if I've not done what I've been asked to do,

  235. there's usually a whooping that went along with it.

  236. So I don't know if y'all can do that in St.

  237. Augustine or not anymore, but. They could in Louisiana in the

  238. 80s, I'll tell you that. And so three times, Jesus makes

  239. the same statement. Now he's using an agricultural,

  240. a growing, a garden. You know, an agricultural

  241. analogy here, but we know, you know, I farmed.

  242. I grew. Up way out in the country,

  243. Louisiana. And I farmed just enough as a

  244. kid to know I didn't want to farm, didn't like it.

  245. Didn't have fun. During COVID, you know, we were

  246. locked down there in France and we had a lot of time on our

  247. hands. And so I said, you know what,

  248. I'm going to grow a garden. And so I went and bought some

  249. seeds and I killed some lettuce. I killed some, I think radishes

  250. and cucumbers. Brian's not a farmer.

  251. Brian doesn't grow a garden. Brian will eat the vegetables,

  252. but Brian doesn't grow. But even from my limited

  253. agricultural experience, I know enough to know that it's not

  254. just harvest, that there's other steps.

  255. Right, but that's not what Jesus said was plentiful.

  256. He said harvest is plentiful. What does that mean?

  257. That means when we're out there, our mission is harvest to bring

  258. him in. You know, when I was talking to

  259. Karen and I looked out there and I saw Isaac, I'd already talked

  260. to Isaac a couple times, tried to bring him in.

  261. It was it quite right yet? And the Kara said that's a

  262. divine appointment. She said go out there.

  263. So I was able to go out there and bring him in next time I saw

  264. him, was able to get him filled with the Holy Ghost.

  265. Right? What am I saying?

  266. We're out there to harvest. That's the mission, all right.

  267. But but look here, Let's look the first thing Jesus said to

  268. do. So this is.

  269. All of our mission, mine, yours, pastorals, Pastor Marcy's cares.

  270. Anybody that's a Christian God wants to use them to reach

  271. theirs, those that are in their neighborhood, those that are in

  272. around them. Amen.

  273. For some of you, it may be going to a neighbor.

  274. For others it may be just God. Just just learning how to hear

  275. the spirit of God when God says go talk to that person.

  276. Remember with Phillip, Phillip over there, the book of Acts.

  277. We don't have time to look there this evening.

  278. But you know, I loved because Phillip goes and he preaches to

  279. them. You know, I'm saying he goes and

  280. he gets a whole city born again, I mean, and then and then they

  281. send Peter and John down there and all the stuff, this cool

  282. stuff happens. So he goes to them.

  283. But then the spirit of God says go to him, sends him to one guy.

  284. He says go join yourself to that chair.

  285. Not just any chariot, he's not just up there knocking on

  286. chariot doors. Hey you, anybody ready to get

  287. born if you say go to that chariot?

  288. I said divine appointment. He goes to that chariot, and the

  289. guy in that chariot was reading from Isaiah.

  290. See, this guy's ready. If you read over there in John

  291. Ford, Jesus actually says heart. He He says lift up your eyes and

  292. sees harvest is plentiful. I've sent you to reap that for

  293. which you've not even labored. But in order to reap that for

  294. which we've not even labored, we're going to have to First off

  295. realize harvest is plentiful. Secondly, we're going to have to

  296. begin to pray. That's the the very next thing

  297. Jesus says here in verse 38. Pray ye therefore the Lord of

  298. the harvest that he would send forth laborers into his harvest.

  299. Now we're going to keep reading here.

  300. Matthew chapter 10, Matthew chapter 10 and many translations

Matthew 10 chapter mention Matthew 10 chapter mention

  301. starts with an and and joins 2 things together.

  302. So this is the continuation here, but I'm going to read it

  303. from the message. The message.

  304. Version here if I can find it. Yeah, Matthew 10 verse one.

  305. It says the prayer was no sooner prayed than it was answered.

  306. Jesus tells him to pray and then it says he answers the prayer

  307. how he called. Twelve of his followers and sent

  308. them into the right fields. He gave them power to kick out

  309. evil spirits and to tenderly care for the bruised and hurt.

  310. So we're talking about mission. Mission.

  311. We've all got the same mission, all right.

  312. We've all got the same position. We come into Christ.

  313. Same position. Now, me walking in the mission

  314. does not improve my condition. My positions.

  315. That makes sense because, all right, here, here, Brown,

  316. there's an extra little Gold Star for you there, you know?

  317. No, it does. We're still, we've got the same

  318. position. All right.

  319. OK. Submission.

  320. All right. Skip down to verse five.

  321. It says Jesus gives some further instructions.

  322. He says Jesus sent his 12 harvest hands out with this

  323. charge. Don't begin by traveling to some

  324. far off place to convert unbelievers.

  325. Don't try to be dramatic by tackling some Public Enemy.

  326. Go to the lost, confused people right here in the neighborhood.

  327. Tell them that the Kingdom is here.

  328. Bring health to the sick. Raise the dead.

  329. Touch the untouchables. Kick out the demons.

  330. You've been treated generously, so live generously.

  331. Don't think you have to put on a fundraising campaign before you

  332. start. You don't need a lot of

  333. equipment. You are the equipment.

  334. He says and all you need to keep going is 3 meals a day travel

  335. light right? So here we go.

  336. Jesus says harvest is plentiful. He says pray and then he says go

  337. to to put that in the redneck version he would say, Jesus

  338. said. Y'all pray and then y'all go

  339. Amen. Kind of reminds me of a boss I

  340. had in Texas when I first started working for this guy.

  341. He would say, Brian, do you want to go clean the stockroom?

  342. And I would say Nope. Little bit later he'd say, Brian

  343. go clean the stockroom, so. Finally I learned.

  344. That when he said we or he said do you want to?

  345. That meant yes, I did want to. It's kind of like a woman and my

  346. wife says, do you want to do this?

  347. Well, I didn't want to stop for coffee, but I will now.

  348. Evidently I just had that desire.

  349. I'm going to stop and get a cup of coffee for you.

  350. I drank my own coffee. I don't like to pay for coffee.

  351. So Jesus said, y'all pray and then y'all go all right.

  352. That's the mission. See, the assignment may be

  353. different. Whether you call the pastor,

  354. whether you're called to be a missionary, whether you're

  355. called to be an auto mechanic or a bus driver, whatever we're

  356. called to do, we've got the same mission.

  357. Okay. But here's the problem that I

  358. ran into. Maybe you don't have this

  359. problem, but I ran into this problem that my condition was

  360. messed up. Said Lord gave me this example.

  361. Say you're not like to run and so, but imagine that I wake up

  362. tomorrow and I haven't run, you know, for 30 years and I just

  363. wake up one morning and say as a 48 year old man, I'm going to go

  364. out and run a marathon. Well, if you've got any sense,

  365. the first thing you see that's a mission.

  366. You got a mission, You want to run a marathon, that's 26.2

  367. miles for those of y'all that don't know.

  368. So you say I want to run a marathon.

  369. If you got any sense, the first thing you do is you go to the.

  370. Doctor to find out if you're. Have the right position, OK.

  371. Go, the doctor said. Hey, I want to make sure my

  372. heart's not going to explode at mile three or four or five or 10

  373. or 19 or 20 or 21 or 22 or 20. It's 26 point.

  374. That's a lot of miles. Y'all the longest I've run is 14

  375. miles and I only did that because I did my route wrong.

  376. And when I got to 12, which was supposed to been a 12 mile run,

  377. I still had two miles to go to the motorcycle.

  378. So when nobody coming to pick me up, there's no Ubers in the

  379. middle of nowhere in France, so. So anyway, so you know, you go

  380. to the doctor and the doctor checks you out and says all

  381. right, you got the you've got the seal of approval, you can go

  382. and do it. So you've got a mission now

  383. you've got a position you can do it. #3 though what we got to

  384. work on is the condition I. Could run 10 miles tonight.

  385. I can run the first three in my cowboy boots.

  386. I couldn't run 26.2 tonight. Why?

  387. Because I'm not in the right condition.

  388. All right. So this is what we're going to

  389. talk about here, all right? We're going to fly.

  390. By Luke Chapter 10. Just so I can just so we can

    Luke 10 chapter mention

  391. show it to you. Luke chapter 10 verse one.

    Luke 10 chapter mention

  392. So we got Jesus and John 435 says harvest is plentiful over

  393. here. Luke, Matthew 9.

  394. He says he says the same thing to the 12 sends them out.

  395. Now here again he's going to say the same thing.

  396. And Luke chapter 10 verse one. After these things the Lord

    Luke 10 chapter mention

  397. appointed 70 others also and sent them two by two before his

  398. face into every city and place whether he himself would come.

  399. Therefore he said to them, harvest truly is great.

  400. Third time, third time. The head of the church has made

  401. this statement. Harvest truly is plentiful.

  402. And the reason I've been labored this point is a lot of times we

  403. take a scripture and we kind of misquote it and we say, well,

  404. you know, I just like to plant seeds and somebody else waters.

  405. That's not the context of that scripture.

  406. That scripture is Paul talking to the church in Corinth.

  407. And what that's saying is, hey, as a pastor, Paul laid a

  408. foundation and he said Apollos came in and watered it or built

  409. on it. He said he's planted seeds.

  410. So your pastors have planted seeds that I as a traveling

  411. minister and watering, that's the context of that.

  412. Why do I say that? Because when we're out there,

  413. we're there to harvest. Why?

  414. Because somebody's killed going to hell.

  415. Until they receive Jesus, until they've been harvested, until

  416. they've been brought in, they're still going to hell.

  417. That's why I spend a little bit of time belaboring that point.

  418. But let's get to Romans chapter 12, Romans chapter 12.

Romans 12 chapter mention Romans 12 chapter mention

  419. As we're getting here, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm, I'm I'm a

  420. little vulnerable when I preach and I'll talk about other

  421. people, I'll talk about myself. Aren't you glad I don't talk

  422. about you looking up your Facebook and stalking you?

  423. And hey, did you know that Bill's been over?

  424. I'm just kidding, all right? So here we are three years ago.

  425. We come up to, you know, with Covet Hit and man just, I mean,

  426. I remember calling Tad Greg Rich and I was like, if y'all said

  427. what to do, that's the Dean of Raymond there in the States.

  428. I said if Y'all said what to do if the whole world loses its

  429. ever loving mind. I was absent that day because I

  430. don't know, you know, so Covet hit and it was just crazy.

  431. And that when we began to see it as missionaries, you know, we

  432. began to see missionaries all over the world were recalled

  433. from the field. The whole organizations were

  434. pulling their people off the field.

  435. And so we said, Lord. What do we do?

  436. And he said, stay. And again I said, Lord, I don't

  437. think this is a good idea, but I'll do it.

  438. So. So we stayed.

  439. But during this time, our first lockdown, we could only go 1

  440. kilometer outside of our home. All right.

  441. For those of y'all that don't speak kilometers, that's eight

  442. tenths of a mile We could go outside of our home Now.

  443. Thank God we lived in the country 8 tenths of a mile from

  444. my house. I can be in the woods.

  445. Because if I'd had to do lockdown like that in Paris, I'd

  446. have killed somebody. So I'd have been starting a

  447. prison ministry in France. Jesus, so we're there.

  448. We got a lot of time on our hands already told you I tried

  449. to grow a garden and realized you know, I can't garden either.

  450. And so, but during this time now prior to this.

  451. I. Had been dealing with stuff in

  452. in my heart, in my, in my soul, in my mind.

  453. One of them was anxiety. When we stepped out to be

  454. missionaries, man, anxiety, like a person, just was constant with

  455. me. Every time we'd have to go do

  456. something with the government or apply for something.

  457. I mean, I was a nervous wreck. And the problem with that is not

  458. only how it affected me, but how it affected my family and those

  459. around me. Anxiety was one, depression was

  460. another one. I mean, just going through bouts

  461. of depression because, you know, we'd go in and we'd come in with

  462. a great vision. We're coming.

  463. We're going to change France and we get there and see how hard it

  464. is and see betrayals and see false brethren.

  465. The longer my missionary, the more I understand the Apostle

  466. Paul when he writes stuff. For instance, you ever read over

  467. there where he said we've we've been in fastings often.

  468. That don't mean he's spiritual. That means the money ran out and

  469. they didn't have an ATM card. There was no Venmo or PayPal or

  470. any of this stuff like that. They just said, what are we

  471. eating tonight boys? Nothing we're going to.

  472. Fast tonight, all right. I understand a lot of these

  473. things, so we deal with all the stuff in it and I would just get

  474. depressed. And again, how it affects me is

  475. one thing, but how it affects my family, those around me is

  476. another thing. Here's the other thing too.

  477. All of this that I'm dealing with looking down at myself as

  478. affecting my mission. See, my assignment is called to

  479. go to France, to harvest harvesters, to win souls, to

  480. bring people into the Kingdom. But I'm not doing a very good

  481. job. Now assignment wise, I'm I'm

  482. living the dream I've I've lived you know in two different

  483. countries. I'm traveling I'm, I'm you know

  484. I'm pastoring at the time getting to preach in French only

  485. because I had to because our translators quit.

  486. Did it again. I said Lord this is not a good

  487. idea but I'll go do it. So so I'm dealing with all of

  488. this stuff and now over the years guys I tried everything

  489. that every, every preacher I've ever heard talk about you know

  490. try to get rid of this stuff. I had tried all kind of things

  491. and and it didn't work to the point that I just got to the

  492. place where I said, I guess this is the way it'll always be.

  493. Just kind of resigned myself to this.

  494. And during COVID, you know, I mean, like I said, it was just a

  495. crazy time. We had so much time on our

  496. hands. And I just said, Lord, I just

  497. want some more of you during this time.

  498. But during this time I was already reading my Bible, you

  499. know, and doing it devotional every day.

  500. And you know, I was getting things from God and I was

  501. preaching, you know, and and doing things.

  502. But I just said I want some more of you now as a missionary

  503. living overseas. I fast tacos.

  504. Every day of my life. So fasting food, not really that

  505. big a deal for me, you know what I'm saying?

  506. And I fast Culvers. Anybody discovered Culvers and

  507. custard? Oh, Jesus, there's going to be

  508. custard in heaven, I can tell you that.

  509. But anyway, we don't have that stuff in France, so fasting food

  510. was not it. But I said, Lord, what I'm going

  511. to do during this time is I like to read fiction books.

  512. And I said what I'm going to do is I'm just go fast fiction

  513. during this time. I said instead of reading the,

  514. you know, instead of reading a book, I'm just gonna read the

  515. Bible. I'm just gonna start, you know,

  516. I just started over there. I love to read about David and

  517. the old, you know, on the the stories of the Kings and all

  518. those. I just started reading over

  519. there. Now again, I've already told you

  520. I'm a runner. I like to run.

  521. So for years as a runner when I would be out and when I run, I

  522. don't want to be around anybody. I don't want to run with

  523. anybody. I want to.

  524. The only man made thing I want to hear is my footsteps.

  525. You know, I'm saying I like to run in the woods, I like to run

  526. by the river. And so when I would be out

  527. running though the whole time I'm running, I'm fighting

  528. thoughts, I've got stuff coming in where there's anxiety, where

  529. there's depression, whether it's this out or the other.

  530. And the whole time I'd be running, I'd be praying in

  531. tongues and be bind and loosened trying to do all this stuff,

  532. putting on worship music. And again, nothing worked.

  533. So here we are about three years ago during COVID and I said I'm

  534. a fast fiction, so I started reading maybe six or seven

  535. chapters from the Old Testament. Just I wasn't studying it in

  536. depth. I wasn't looking up the Hebrew,

  537. you know what I mean? Just reading it.

  538. And after about 3 weeks go by and I was out on the run.

  539. Never forget it. I was out running through a

  540. vineyard. There's vineyards everywhere in

  541. France. I was running through a vineyard

  542. about by our by our town and I was running along.

  543. I've been running for 45 minutes.

  544. I will send it down to me. I've not had one single anxious

  545. thought. For 45 minutes, I've not had one

  546. single. I've not had to buy anything or

  547. loose anything or do anything else.

  548. And I'm like, what? What's going on?

  549. I've described it like this. Imagine you had a jackhammer

  550. operating outside your bedroom window or your office window for

  551. 40 years. Some of this stuff I've been

  552. dealing with for 40 years. And all of a sudden, one day it

  553. stopped it taking a while to figure out what's going on.

  554. You know, I'm saying it just what's different?

  555. What's changed? And I said, what has changed?

  556. I began to have a piece of the freedom that I'd only had in

  557. small moments. Of my life.

  558. Never been able to reproduce it. Never been able to find out how

  559. I got there. Does it make sense?

  560. Like little glimpses of it. And I began to have a peace and

  561. a freedom. I went and I went.

  562. Lord, the only thing I've changed.

  563. I'm still praying in tongues. I'm still living over here

  564. fasting tacos and fasting custard.

  565. You know I mean, nothing else has changed.

  566. The only thing that's changed is I I'm reading more the word.

  567. Just reading more the word. Almost Chapter 12, verse one,

  568. since I beseech you there for brethren, by the mercies of God,

  569. that you present your bodies and living sacrifice, holding

  570. acceptable and unto God, which is your reasonable service.

  571. We see something here. Just with a few moments we've

  572. got left. We see the Apostle Paul telling

  573. us we're going to have to do something with our bodies, with

  574. ourself. We're going to have to lay aside

  575. the negative. So that makes sense.

  576. We're going to leave the negative on this side of the

  577. pulpit. OK, but how?

  578. How? How do we, chapter 2 or verse 2,

  579. be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the

  580. renewing of your mind that you may prove?

  581. What is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God?

  582. All right, let's flip over to Ephesians chapter 4.

    Ephesians 4 chapter mention

  583. We can go to four places real fast.

  584. You know, there's two different types of people from the South.

  585. There's ones that talk real slow and there's me, I'm the fast

  586. talking one. So like Mark Hankin says, if you

  587. can listen fast, I can talk fast and we can get the rest of this

  588. out. Ephesians Chapter 4, verse 21.

    Ephesians 4:21

  589. If so be that you have heard him and been taught by him, as the

  590. truth is in Jesus that you put off concerning the former

  591. conversation. The old man, which is corrupt,

  592. anxiety, depression. That's part of the old man.

  593. That's not part of the new package.

  594. I'm just going to tell you like that if we come into Christ and

  595. we're dealing with some of this junk or other junk like that,

  596. that's not part of the new package, we're supposed to lay

  597. that aside. And I tried for years some stuff

  598. for decades. Couldn't do it.

  599. Couldn't do it. All right, let's see here it

  600. says verse 22 that. You put off concerning the

  601. former conversation, the old man which is corrupt according to

  602. the deceitful lust, and be renewed in the spirit of your

  603. mind. And then here's the new man.

  604. Then we put on the new man, which after God has created in

  605. righteousness and true holiness. So I began to read 678 chapters

  606. extra in the Word, and I said, Lord, I had tears in my eyes.

  607. I want to look God, I said. Lord, I've tried for years.

  608. To get this level of peace and freedom that I'm walking in

  609. these last few weeks, the only thing I've changed is I've read

  610. more the word. Are you telling me it was that

  611. simple all along? And he said yes.

  612. And I said, Lord, I've fasted, I've prayed in tongues, I've

  613. listened to preaching, I've worshiped, I've had hands laid

  614. on me. You can tell I've had a lot of

  615. hands laid on my head. But none of that.

  616. Worked with this as far as this goes these problems.

  617. Are you telling me all I had to do was read more of the words?

  618. And he said yes. And I said, why?

  619. Why didn't all the other things that I did fix that?

  620. Why didn't anything else change my condition?

  621. And he said you were trying to do with other good spiritual

  622. things would only mind renewal will do.

  623. And he, he gave me this example. I like to watch those survival

  624. shows, you know, on TV where they drop somebody off and they

  625. got to go. So I don't like the ones where

  626. they're naked, but the ones where their clothes are normal.

  627. You know what I'm saying? You got to clarify that, so.

  628. But you when you watch these shows, there's four different

  629. needs. Really.

  630. Five there. Four or five different needs

  631. that every human being, no matter who we voted for in the

  632. election, no matter who we root for on Saturday at the the

  633. football game, nothing, no matter our color or race or

  634. creed, we all as human beings have to have four basic needs

  635. met or we die as human. That's a pretty big problem.

  636. Dying's a pretty big problem as a human being.

  637. So the first one is oxygen. Got to have oxygen?

  638. Take the oxygen away. We're dead moments.

  639. The 2nd is water. Depending on conditions we can

  640. make it days or maybe a week or two with no water.

  641. The third though is lack of food.

  642. We take the food away. Again, depending on the

  643. condition, I've got a little bit of extra, you know, margin here

  644. and some of you people might, some might be able to last a

  645. little bit longer, but still, you know, weeks, no food, we're

  646. dead. But the 4th would be protection

  647. from the elements. You know, again, if I wear this

  648. light shirt and just these cowboy boots and I go up on Mont

  649. Blanc, the highest point in Europe in a snowstorm, I'm dead

  650. in hours saying then the fifth one would be rest.

  651. And the Lord said, you can't substitute one for the other.

  652. That's what I've done for years is I just tried to worship and I

  653. tried to pray and I tried to fast and I tried to do all of

  654. these other things that are good things, that are necessary

  655. things, but they don't renew my mind.

  656. They don't enact or enable transformational power in my

  657. life that I desperately needed. I was ready to quit, was living

  658. the. I had the dream of the

  659. assignment that I wanted and and and wanted for years, but I

  660. disdained it because of my condition.

  661. Didn't want to do it anymore. So, Lord, I can't do this.

  662. I can't do it. I can't do it.

  663. And again using this, you know that using analogy, there's

  664. oxygen in this water. But if there's no oxygen in this

  665. room, we're dead because we can't get it out of there.

  666. So it makes sense. You can't substitute one for the

  667. other. Let me show you two more

  668. scriptures. So as I began to do this, as I

  669. saw that as I increased, just taken in the word, just reading

  670. the Bible. Continue to do the other things

  671. but could but increasing my word intake, I began to walk in a

  672. level of peace and freedom. It began to increase.

  673. Not only that, the negative was gone.

  674. Does that make sense? I found that if I read 8

  675. chapters a day, at least minimum, the negative was was

  676. they had no power and that's great.

  677. But the greatest thing, gosh, was the revelation that began to

  678. flow. The understanding, the things

  679. that God began to illuminate to me, to get things that God began

  680. to speak to me. Other things that he began to be

  681. able to do in my life because I was renewing my mind, Because I

  682. was. See, here's the thing the Lord

  683. said. We've been caught up fighting

  684. unnecessary battles and carrying unnecessary burdens, and the

  685. devil keeps us distracted fighting with all of this junk

  686. and doing all these other things that that don't work.

  687. All right, so I've just got a couple minutes left.

  688. Let's let's look real quickly over here to to James, Chapter

  689. one. Same thing.

  690. We're going to see this. We see this over and over and

  691. over again. This affects my condition, not

  692. my position. Makes sense.

  693. My my position doesn't change. God doesn't love me more now

  694. that I've walked in without of walked in victory over this

  695. stuff than he did before. Yeah, you understand.

  696. It's not. It's not that it's now.

  697. I've affected my condition, and I am the only person on the

  698. planet or in the universe that can affect my condition.

  699. Jesus can't do it for me, man. I wish it.

  700. I wish we could do this by laying on hands.

  701. Man, I sure do, but it doesn't happen that way.

  702. But it's simple. Not easy, but it's simple.

  703. So James chapter one, verse 21 says we're for lay apart all

  704. filthiness and superfluidive naughtiness.

  705. We got that on this on over here.

  706. Then he says, receive with meekness the engrafted word

  707. which is able to save your souls.

  708. The word save is not talking about our eternal preservation,

  709. but it's talking about like like we would restore an old car or

  710. an old house or something, an old piece of furniture.

  711. That's that's that type of restored restoration.

  712. So it restores my soul, my mind, my will and my emotions.

  713. See, those problems I was facing was in my flesh and in my soul.

  714. Not in my spirit, but in my flesh and in my soul.

  715. And as I began to renew my mind and keep it renewed, keep it

  716. renewed, then transformation began to happen and it began to

  717. affect those around me and it began to affect my mission.

  718. Amen. Last one.

  719. First Peter, First Peter, Chapter 2.

    1 Peter 2 chapter mention

  720. And just just to kind of give you a tool here that we've got

  721. available for you for free on our book table back there.

  722. I just did a little research and I found this very simple Bible

  723. reading system where you read from 10 different places in the

  724. Bible, 10 different lists. It's not a plan where it's not

  725. based on date or anything like that.

  726. You know, I'm saying you just, you read one that you can see my

  727. ribbons there. That my ribbons that's from my

  728. different places that I read. You finish one list and you just

  729. start over and you so every day I'm reading 10 different places.

  730. When I began to do this again, the negative continued to fall

  731. away. And the positive I began to grow

  732. in ways that I had tried for years and years and years and

  733. years. So we've got this available for

  734. you if you want to pick up one of those in our table or if you

  735. want to look it up. It's called the Professor Grant

  736. Horner Bible Reading System. There's nothing magical about

  737. it, but man, it's a great tool. When I began to do this, the

  738. coolest thing about this is what me.

  739. There's there's tons of cool things, but what's so awesome is

  740. see the Holy Ghost. So show me something here in the

  741. first list and then I'll show it to me in the second list and the

  742. third list. And by the time I'm done, he'll

  743. have showed me the same thing 10 times.

  744. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but if you show me

  745. something 10 times, I'll eventually get it.

  746. Does that? Does that make sense?

  747. So man, I can't tell you enough about this.

  748. I highly, highly, highly encourage you to do this, but

  749. let's let's look at the first Peter chapter 2 verse one.

    1 Peter 2 chapter mention

  750. Therefore, laying aside all malice, guile hypocrisies,

  751. envies, and evil speakings, as newborn babes, desire the

  752. sincere milk of Pret, and tox desire the sincere milk of

  753. worship. Desire, the sincere milk of the

  754. word. I had three babies and I watched

  755. him. And, man, when it was time to

  756. eat, it was not like a casual thing, you know, The baby was

  757. not like, well, mom, I don't know what you've got prepared

  758. tonight. You know, it's well, I could

  759. eat. No, it was like, get out of the

  760. way. I mean, you know, I'm saying.

  761. And it wasn't like, just well today.

  762. I'm not very hungry. No, it was Hey, I two hours ago.

  763. And guess what? I'm gonna eat again in two

  764. hours. So what I'll do with the word is

  765. I'll take some in in the morning and I'll take some more and

  766. maybe in the middle of the day, and I take some more at night

  767. before I go to bed. Amen.

  768. That. So as newborn babes desire the

  769. sincere milk of the word that you may what grow thereby

  770. because there's things that we need to grow ourselves out of

  771. that we never will if we don't do this again. 26 years of

  772. ministry at the time when I when I stumbled into these things. 23

  773. years of ministry. Been a missionary for seven

  774. years at the time, been to Bible school, done all of these

  775. things, but I was struggling with stuff that I didn't have to

  776. struggle with. Hey man, I just had to make some

  777. changes in my own life. Let me just put let me just

  778. throw this out here. I'm going to, I'm going to turn

  779. it over to Pastor Earl here in just a second.

  780. It takes an average of 4 minutes to read most Bible chapters.

  781. So if I read 10 chapters, that takes 40 minutes.

  782. That's one episode of Swamp People.

  783. I mean, I can give up in it, but I like swamp people.

  784. Chew them. You know, I like Swamp People,

  785. but I've never watched an episode of Swamp People that

  786. changed my life. I mean, you understand what I'm

  787. saying? It's worth giving some of these

  788. things. It's worth doing whatever we've

  789. got to do. And here's something.

  790. Here's something the Holy Ghost told me as I stumbled into these

  791. things. I mean, I literally did.

  792. I stumbled into him. And as I begin to enact a man,

  793. I've seen transformation in my life.

  794. I've seen man. I've got renewed mission.

  795. I've got renewed vision. I don't want to quit the

  796. ministry anymore. I don't want to quit being a

  797. missionary anymore. I want to go back and win more

  798. souls for Christ. Amen.

  799. I want to go back and harvest more harvesters in France.

  800. I'm going to get back over there and pick a fight.

  801. Amen. With the devil.

  802. Hallelujah. But here's the thing, the Lord

  803. said, Brian, if they'll do on purpose what you did on

  804. accident, I'll do what I did and they'll experience the same

  805. thing you did. And again, I'd love to just say,

  806. hey, if you'll come down here, I'll lay hands on you right now

  807. and this will all happen. It won't.

  808. Doesn't happen that way. There's other things that we

  809. received like that. But man, I'm, I'm telling you, I

  810. encourage you try this for three weeks.

  811. I shared this with the pastor in Alabama that was about ready to

  812. quit the ministry. He had tears in his eyes as we

  813. sat there. We were eating and I was sharing

  814. some of these things with him. And he said, Brian, I've needed

  815. this. I've not been doing this.

  816. And then I just so happened he was leading a minister's group

  817. and I I was there. He didn't know I was going to be

  818. there. And he said, Lord, what am I

  819. supposed to share with these ministers?

  820. And he said, what's changed your life the last couple of months?

  821. And he said this. They got it out and shared him

  822. with the ministers. Didn't know I was going to be

  823. there that morning. I just challenge you.

  824. What do you got to? You got nothing to lose.

  825. I don't even charge you for this.

  826. I mean, you know, you already got a Bible.

  827. They don't got to be special. Just take a Bible and start

  828. reading it like this and and send me an e-mail in three weeks

  829. and tell me. Tell me if it doesn't work.

  830. Amen. I'd love to stay longer, but I

  831. I've got to go. So y'all stand up.

  832. Let me pray over and I'll just turn it over to Pastor Earl.

  833. Father, what a privilege it is to be here with these wonderful

  834. people and Saint Augustine, Father and Lord, my hearts cry.

  835. Lord God is that if there's anybody that are dealing with

  836. some of the stuff that I was dealing with, unnecessary

  837. burdens and unnecessary battles. Father God that I challenge

  838. them, Holy Spirit, that you would resonate this in their

  839. hearts tonight. That they'll make some changes

  840. in their life and see the victory, see the negative laid

  841. aside and see them be able to put on the Newman and run their

  842. race and reach their assignment and reach the mission to reach

  843. those around them father in Jesus.
