  1. Well, you can look in Ephesians chapter 5.

    Ephesians 5 chapter mention

  2. We're going to start there and just kind of lay some foundation

  3. here. And in Ephesians the 5th chapter

  4. and verse one and the new King James says therefore be

  5. imitators of God as dear children.

  6. Now Paul's writing to the church he says be imitators of God as

  7. dear children. The amplified classic says it

  8. this way. Therefore be imitators of God.

  9. Copy him and follow his example as well.

  10. Beloved children, imitate their father.

  11. You know what Paul saying to the Church of Corinth, to the Church

  12. of Ephesus. Here he's saying Christianity,

  13. salvation, redemption, and your your commitment to the Lord does

  14. not begin and end at the altar is not just a confession or a

  15. commitment to to get to heaven, but praise God.

  16. The Lord is calling us not just to become a child of God, but to

  17. live that life and follow him, begin to make him our example

  18. and imitate him in life. Amen.

  19. Come on. We should be imitating though.

  20. People should leave you and say, well, you, you know, they they

  21. did this with the disciples. You know, Peter and him got to

  22. talking and preaching and carrying on.

  23. They said, well, they've been with Jesus.

  24. Hallelujah. Well, I wonder why they said

  25. this. Because they were acting like

  26. him, talking like him, dealing with the situation like Jesus

  27. did. Amen.

  28. Imitate copy. Glory to God, follow the

  29. example. And so however the Lord did it,

  30. we should do it. Amen.

  31. And you know, we, we, we, we come to the Lord, we become a

  32. new creation in Christ Jesus. And then we set ourselves to

  33. circle. Or somebody says, well, if I'm

  34. going to follow the Lord, if I'm going to copy him, imitate him

  35. and live like him, then, then what are some of the keys that I

  36. can do that in my life? Well, the first key you're going

  37. to find out if you're going to imitate and follow the Lord, is

  38. you're going to have to live the faith of life.

  39. Amen. Hebrews 11/6 says, but without

  40. faith, it's impossible to please him.

  41. For he who comes to God must believe that he is, and that is

  42. a rewarder them that diligently seek him.

  43. Amen. So I'm going to have to set

  44. myself to get over into faith if I'm going to imitate God.

  45. Amen. Because Hebrews 11/3 says we

  46. understand that the world's refrained by the word of God, so

  47. faith tells us how God operates. In fact, you can't even begin

  48. your journey with the Lord without faith because Ephesians

  49. 28 and nine says you're saved by grace.

  50. What? Through faith, Hallelujah.

  51. So I get introduced to the Lord. How do I get introduced to the

  52. Lord through faith? The Bible says in Romans 10 that

  53. the Word of Faith doesn't talk about defeating failure.

  54. But the Word of Faith speaks out the things of God.

  55. And he says, here's what you're supposed to say.

  56. You got to believe that Jesus died for you.

  57. God raised him from the dead and confess him as your Lord.

  58. And when you believe in your heart and confess with your

  59. mouth, you get saved. Amen.

  60. It's because you're releasing faith in him.

  61. So we start our journey in faith with the Lord Jesus Christ.

  62. But Paul wrote to the Galatians in Galatians 311 and he said the

  63. just shall live by faith. What's that mean?

  64. Faith isn't a one time deal of the altar.

  65. Faith is an everyday lifestyle. Copying, imitating and living

  66. like God wants me to live. Hallelujah.

  67. How many of you know the Lord Jesus was always in faith, even

  68. when he went to sleep? Let me say, how do you say that

  69. he went to sleep in faith? Well, he was in the back of a

  70. boat. He told him to go to the other

  71. side. Storm blew up.

  72. They woke him up. He didn't go, Oh, my God.

  73. He looked around, looked at the stop and said, what is wrong

  74. with you? Why didn't you deal with this?

  75. Why are you waking me up? And then he speaks to the storm,

  76. steals it, goes by and goes to bed.

  77. Amen. Praise God.

  78. So he was he, you know, he started the trip in faith.

  79. He went to bed in faith. He got up in faith.

  80. Yeah, come on. Come on.

  81. You and I should live 24/7 in faith.

  82. What is faith? It is having an assurance that

  83. God is going to get you through this thing.

  84. It is trusting God with all your heart is relying upon him to be

  85. that one that you need in that moment, and he will do it for

  86. you. Praise God.

  87. But faith is more than just believing and and and having an

  88. assurance in the Lord or trusting in the Lord.

  89. It's also a conviction. Hey, Ben, if I'm going to live

  90. in faith, I have to have a conviction.

  91. What's the difference in a conviction with somebody with a

  92. conviction and somebody else that has a a theory?

  93. Well, you know, a theory. Once once something comes up and

  94. somebody debates you, you'll back off.

  95. But if I have a conviction, I'm not going to back off.

  96. I'm not going to give up. I'm not going to surrender.

  97. I'm standing for one. I believe.

  98. Amen. So we're told if we're going to

  99. imitate God, we're going to have to live this life of faith that

  100. God's calling us to live. We're going to have to follow

  101. him in our actions. We're going to have to follow

  102. him in our words. We're going to follow him in in

  103. in what we're believing. Amen.

  104. And every day we just get up and we just trust that no matter

  105. what comes today, greater is he that's in me than he that's

  106. against me. Amen.

  107. We've got all kinds of scripture to build our faith on.

  108. Because over in Colossians one he says that we're to give

  109. thanks to the Father who has delivered us from the authority,

  110. the dominion, the power of of darkness, and has brought us

  111. over into the Kingdom of the Son of his love.

  112. Amen. And made us heirs of the things

  113. of God and and qualified us to partake of all the blessings.

  114. Praise God. So I've got God's word on the

  115. situation because when I got born again, I got taken out of

  116. the Kingdom of darkness and taken out from under the

  117. authority of the devil and sin. And I got placed over into the

  118. Kingdom of God and put under the authority of the lordship of

  119. Jesus Christ. I went from darkness to light.

  120. I went from without to with everything.

  121. Amen. I went from one who hated me and

  122. wanted to use me, to one who loved me and wanted to bless me.

  123. Praise God. And he said he would never leave

  124. me nor forsake me. So praise God.

  125. When Paul's writing to the the the church here, he's writing to

  126. believers. He's saying now that you're in

  127. Christ, now that you've given your heart to the Lord.

  128. Now that you understand these things, now say yourself every

  129. day of your life. I'm going to imitate God today.

  130. I'm going to be like Jesus. Hallelujah.

  131. Amen. I'm going to do my life the way

  132. the Lord did his. I'm going to get in the Word,

  133. find out what God wants me to do, and I'm going to follow the

  134. Lord. Now, how many of you know or

  135. have found out? And if you haven't, you will

  136. find out that when you make your decision that you're going to

  137. serve the Lord, live for the Lord.

  138. Walk in faith does not mean that the devil's not going to try

  139. your faith. See, we get this religious

  140. concept, and I did that. When we get born again, the

  141. devil goes, oh, excuse me, you're saved.

  142. Now go right ahead. But that's unscriptural.

  143. Amen. Even in Mark 4, Jesus over there

  144. begins in verse 14 teaching on the parable of the sower.

  145. And he says, the sower soweth the word.

  146. The very next verse says. And these are they by the

  147. wayside who, when they have heard the word, Satan comes

  148. immediately to steal the word out of their heart.

  149. He doesn't wait till you get home.

  150. Amen. He's working on you before you

  151. get off the parking lot. Somebody's kid runs by and

  152. knocks coffee all over you. He's working on you before you

  153. get out of the building. How they look.

  154. But the thing comes down to us this.

  155. We are going to have tests and trials with our faith but we

  156. that should not deter us from living our life in a way that's

  157. pleasing to God and us acting like and taking on the

  158. principles God and living our faith life.

  159. Amen. See James chapter one over there

  160. in verse three says that the trying of your faith works your

  161. patience. See the testing of your faith.

  162. And then you went on down in James 113 and says now when you

  163. get tempted and tested and tried, don't stand there and say

  164. God is doing this, 'cause God does not tempt you, test you, or

  165. try you with bad or evil things. So if it's not God that's

  166. putting the test to your faith, then it must be the devil that's

  167. coming to steal, kill and destroy and test your faith and

  168. try you to see if he can stop you from having what God says

  169. you can have. Amen.

  170. In Hebrews chapter 4 and verse 15, the Bible says that the Lord

    Hebrews 4 chapter mention

  171. Jesus Christ, when he was here on this earth, went through

  172. every temptation, every test, every trial, everything that you

  173. and I would go through. But he didn't fail one of them.

  174. Why did he have to go through all this?

  175. Because he emptied himself, laid aside Jesus.

  176. You see, you got to understand this.

  177. You not only study the teachings of Jesus, study his life and how

  178. he handled things. If I'm going to imitate him, I

  179. need to see how he dealt with it.

  180. Amen. And then however he dealt with

  181. the situations, how I need to deal with it.

  182. And he says he went through all these things yet without sin.

  183. You know what I mean? Jesus has faced everything you

  184. and I will ever face. But he conquered it.

  185. It didn't stop him. And you know, the great thing

  186. about it is this. Now he's the high priest for us.

  187. And if we'll hook up with him, he can help us.

  188. So that when we find ourselves in a test or a trials trying to

  189. stop us from imitating following God, He's there to help us to do

  190. what he did, so we can get the same results he got.

  191. Amen. And you know what James says

  192. over there? If we went back and just started

  193. quoting something. James, when you let your faith

  194. and your persistence, your consistency, I refuse to stop

  195. acting like a child of God. I stopped.

  196. You know, I I refuse to start acting like I used to be before

  197. I made Jesus my Lord. When I make the decision, let my

  198. patience have his perfect work. You know what?

  199. James went on and said, you will come out of that thing entire

  200. and wanting nothing. Glory to God.

  201. Woo, Glory to God. In other words, you'll use your

  202. test as a stepping stone to mature your walk with God and

  203. also to cause your trust in him to be that much more secure.

  204. But to do that, I need to know how I can do it.

  205. Amen. Faith isn't just knowing what

  206. God says. Faith is knowing how to get it.

  207. Amen. So if I'm going to have this,

  208. this eternal life, this blessed life that the Lord wants me to

  209. have and walk in this, then the best thing I could do is go find

  210. an example where the Lord Jesus had to deal with something like

  211. that, find out how he dealt with it, make that my example, and do

  212. it the same way he did. Amen.

  213. So to do that, let's look in Mark's Gospel of the 11th

  214. chapter, Mark, Chapter 11. Everybody wants to turn

    Mark 11 chapter mention

  215. immediately to verse 22 and verse 23.

  216. But we're going to back up a little bit.

  217. We're going to go back up to verse 12.

  218. Now this 11th chapter of Mark is is real powerful Jesus in the

  219. first, you know, 11 verses, there is his triumph and entry.

  220. That's what we call Palm Sunday. He sends them over.

  221. They get the the, the donkey, and he comes in, He rides in,

  222. they're celebrating, rejoicing. And by the time that's all done,

  223. it says here that the evening came and Jesus goes out to

  224. Bethany, out into the area, and and he he goes to bed.

  225. He's he's sleepy. OK, the day's over.

  226. He can't do anything else. But the Lord has a purpose, OK?

  227. This is his his entry into revealing who he is.

  228. And the next day he's got a purpose.

  229. He's going to get up the next morning, go back into Jerusalem

  230. and clean the temple out. Amen.

  231. Get rid of the sin, turn it back into a House of prayer and and

  232. and bring worship and healing and ministry back into the House

  233. of God. Amen.

  234. So the next morning he's going to get up.

  235. He already knows what the plan of God is.

  236. He knows what his purpose is that day.

  237. He knows what his, his, his, his, his direction is for that

  238. day. Amen.

  239. And he's gets up. And now he's heading to

  240. Jerusalem to fulfil what God has told him to do.

  241. Amen. So let's pick it up in verse 12.

  242. Now, the next day, when they had come out from Bethany, he was

  243. hungry. Anybody here ever get up in the

  244. morning and be hungry? Gee, Jesus got up that morning

  245. and he was hungry. Hadn't had any breakfast, no

  246. coffee. Not a good place to deal with

  247. him right now. Amen.

  248. Something So the Lord is heading back into bed and and and you

  249. know he got up that morning, he's hungry.

  250. He's heading back into town, going to do what his heavenly

  251. Father has taught him to do that day.

  252. Amen. Going to fulfill God's will in

  253. his life. Verse 13.

  254. And seeing from afar A fig tree having leaves, he went to see if

  255. perhaps he would find something on it.

  256. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was

  257. not yet the season of figs. Now, now, let me tell you

  258. something. When when Mark brings it out,

  259. and I like looking at it here, because Mark brings out this

  260. tree wasn't right beside the path.

  261. It was a far off. That means it was, you know,

  262. over here in a field maybe. And so for the Lord to get to

  263. that fig tree, he had to not just take a few steps off his

  264. path, he actually had to go for a good little walk to get to it.

  265. Amen. Now he sees it and he goes to

  266. this fig tree. Because during that time, if a

  267. tree had leaves, then it's supposed to have figs.

  268. So the Lord is hungry. He's natural.

  269. He's dealing with things that you and I have to deal with.

  270. He knows what his purpose is, but the same time his his

  271. belly's growling. And so he's going, you know.

  272. Yes, there's a fig tree over there.

  273. I can see leaves on it. Breakfast.

  274. Come on guys, let's go get us some breakfast.

  275. So the Lord goes over there and he looks at the tree and there's

  276. and he starts looking and he says surely there's figs.

  277. I mean this tree's, you know, it's it's advertised to me all

  278. the way down the path. Every time I looked at it, it

  279. was telling me it had figs because it's got leaves and it

  280. goes through the entire tree and he finds nothing.

  281. Look at the next part. Here's a response.

  282. Here is something you and I are going to have to learn.

  283. This is a lesson Jesus teaches us on following God and not

  284. getting distracted, discouraged, defeated, upset, or whatever.

  285. Now Can you imagine? Jesus has laid aside his eternal

  286. glory. Remember Philippians 2?

  287. Paul says that he's taken upon himself the form of flesh and

  288. blood. He's he's tempted, test and try

  289. with every kind of test he faced.

  290. Everything you and I face. Jesus is hungry.

  291. He's walked all the way off over here to this place, to where the

  292. tree is. He's found it.

  293. Now there's no fruit on the tree.

  294. It's a wasted trip over to this tree.

  295. If it's 200 yards off the path, he could have been 200 yards on

  296. down the road toward fulfilling God's purpose for him that

  297. morning. But he thought he would take a

  298. moment and take care of a situation, a personal situation.

  299. I'm hungry. Amen.

  300. He's not in sin. He's not.

  301. It's not like he's got to be there right now.

  302. He knows he's going to get this thing done, but on the way he

  303. makes a little detour in what he's doing.

  304. And now here he is with a tree that has nothing on it.

  305. Look what it says, verse 14. In response Jesus said to it,

  306. The King James says. And Jesus answered it and said,

  307. if you answer something or you respond to something, that means

  308. it initiated it. If you ask me something, I

  309. respond to you. If you say something to me, I

  310. respond to you. If you have given me a question,

  311. I answer it. Amen.

  312. I didn't initiate the conversation.

  313. I responded to it. That tree was talking to Jesus

  314. from the time he saw it. The tree's over here in the

  315. distance going, hey, Jesus, I got breakfast.

  316. I know you're hungry. It's early.

  317. Come on over, I'll take care of you.

  318. So Jesus is listening to this tree, talking to him, saying

  319. come on over. It's going to be great.

  320. You're going to enjoy this. You're going to have figs and

  321. you're going to have a great breakfast.

  322. Then you can go in there and run those people out and Jesus goes

  323. over there because that tree's been talking to him.

  324. And now Jesus is faced with a decision.

  325. How do I respond to the tree? How many of us have had our

  326. purpose laid out? We know what we're going to

  327. believe God for. We're in ourselves.

  328. We're going after it, and something pops up that distracts

  329. us and pulls us away from them. And we thought it was going to

  330. be a good thing, but it turns out to be a negative thing, a

  331. bad thing, a hindrance instead of a blessing.

  332. What is your response in that moment?

  333. Because your response at that moment's going to determine

  334. whether you get to fulfilled the big thing.

  335. Are you hearing me? Because you see it's not the big

  336. things that usually defeat us. It's the little things the devil

  337. throws in the way before we get to the big thing that keeps us

  338. from being able to even be there to deal with it.

  339. So the Lord now and and I'm going to tell you something he

  340. says he was in Hebrews 4. Says he was tempted with every

  341. temptation. You know his flesh right now is

  342. aggravated. Why do you say that, Brother

  343. Uben? Because my flesh right now would

  344. be aggravated. What would you do at this

  345. moment? You don't want to hear what I

  346. would think about doing at this moment.

  347. But what does the Lord Jesus do in this moment, in this moment

  348. of frustration, in this moment when you realize you've been

  349. lied to, you've been deceived, and it was just there to keep

  350. you from fulfilling what God said you can have.

  351. It's there to stop you from imitating your heavenly Father

  352. and doing what he would have you to do.

  353. What are you going to do? And Jesus in response said to

  354. it, let no one eat fruit from ever after again.

  355. And his disciples heard it. Jesus didn't say Peter.

  356. I cannot believe you didn't stop me from coming over here.

  357. He didn't blame the disciples. One of you could have been

  358. spiritual enough to know that there's no figs on that tree.

  359. He didn't stand there and say, you stupid tree, Amen.

  360. He didn't stomp and storm around.

  361. He didn't sit down and twiddle his son, say, my God, now what

  362. am I going to eat? You know what the Lord Jesus did

  363. in that moment? He responded from his spirit,

  364. not from his flesh. He's showing us how to deal with

  365. disappointments and things that are coming up to distract you

  366. and to discourage you to keep you from having what God said

  367. you can have. He's allowing himself to go

  368. through this so that he can show you and me exactly how we in

  369. need to deal with our fig tree. What fig tree?

  370. Brother Hubman, the bad report when you was expecting a good

  371. one. Amen.

  372. We just heard that we prayed for a person and they had gotten a

  373. great report. They went in and got checked and

  374. there was no cancer. Then they went back and they

  375. checked and they said we think it's back and got a bad report

  376. and they stood their ground. When they went back in, they

  377. couldn't find it. Hallelujah.

  378. Why? Because they dealt with their

  379. fig tree the way Jesus dealt with his fig tree.

  380. They refused to stay there and let it have any place in their

  381. life. Amen.

  382. We're all going to face tests. We're all going to face trials.

  383. We're all going to face disappointments.

  384. We're going to get some bad reports.

  385. What do you do when you're a fig tree, gets you off the path and

  386. get you over there, then leaves you disappointed and and and

  387. what am I going to do now? I'll tell you what you're going

  388. to do. You're going to speak to it.

  389. Not about it. And you're going to tell it.

  390. You are dead. You will never do this again.

  391. I'm. I'm making this a learning

  392. lesson. I will never be deceived by you.

  393. In fact, not only you're not going to ever do it to me again.

  394. You're not going to do it to anybody again because I break

  395. you now in the name of Jesus. I'm going to act like my Lord.

  396. I'm going to imitate my God. I'm just going to praise God.

  397. This is this just took a little bit of my time out.

  398. But it has no more. See, because your flesh has a

  399. tendency is even if you deal with it, you want to talk about

  400. it all day. Jesus never talked about it ever

  401. again. He deals with the problem, deals

  402. with the distraction, deals with the disappointment, and goes

  403. right back, gets on the path, goes down in Jerusalem, cleans

  404. out the temple, does exactly what his Heavenly Father wanted,

  405. and then had a healing service and set people free.

  406. If he'd have stayed up there frustrated because of some silly

  407. fig, then those people wouldn't have been healed.

  408. They would have been delivered. God couldn't have done his will,

  409. and it would have been Jesus ensuring it's the wrong way to

  410. do something and the devil would have won.

  411. But Jesus says don't let some little thing dominate your time

  412. or deter you from doing the big thing that God wants you to do.

  413. Let me tell you something, folks.

  414. In our lives, we're going to have all kinds of little fig

  415. trees come along. I mean, I've had every kind of

  416. negative report you could hear while I was believing God to do

  417. stuff. And the Lord took me to this

  418. thing and I had a situation come up and the Lord took me over

  419. here to mark 11 and he said, and I thought, OK, Lord, read verse

  420. 22. He said, no, go back.

  421. How did I handle the fig tree? I'd never seen this, he said.

  422. And I read my King James. And Jesus answering said, he

  423. said, did you notice I answered it.

  424. He said, Son, the devil's going to talk to you.

  425. Problem's going to talk to you. The enemy's going to talk to

  426. you. It's how you answer it.

  427. It's going to determine whether you win or lose that situation.

  428. It's how you respond. What did James say?

  429. He said, when you fall into chess and trials, count it all

  430. joy, that's the way you get the victory.

  431. If you fuss about it and why me, Lord, then you lose.

  432. Amen. Jesus is teaching us here that

  433. you're going to have tests and trials.

  434. I had tests and trials. I went through these to show you

  435. how to handle them. And Jesus just deals with.

  436. And you know what? He wasn't silent about it.

  437. The disciples were there and they heard him say that to them.

  438. Meaning what? Jesus was delivered by from

  439. everybody else's opinion about him.

  440. Your faith isn't going to work. If you're concerned about what

  441. people don't think about you. Amen.

  442. See, in First Timothy 612, he says we're to fight the good

  443. fight of faith and we're to lay hold of eternal life.

  444. Are you hearing me? And he says, and keep the good

  445. confession that you've confessed before many witnesses.

  446. You know what Paul says. You don't just fight the good

  447. fight of faith when you're by yourself or when you're around

  448. Christians. You you fight the good fight of

  449. faith and lay hold of the life of God in front of everybody.

  450. Years ago, I was playing some basketball at the YMCA there in

  451. Huntington. We I'd go over and that's I'd

  452. get my exercise in. And so I I played ball coming

  453. up. So I'm over there playing ball

  454. and we our team If you won, you stayed up.

  455. And so we were in the small gym and so we'd won three games in a

  456. row. And man, I'm tell you what, just

  457. going along and we go back out to play the 4th game.

  458. About halfway through it I went up and came down on the guy's

  459. foot and my ankle turned and it popped and I hit the floor.

  460. Now I'm in shorts, T-shirts, tennis shoes, sweating, and my

  461. ankle is laying there and everybody's like, one minute one

  462. was the doctor and said we're going to have to deal with that.

  463. And so before any I could even think, I said, if you can

  464. believe God, turn toward me. If this is totally awkward to

  465. you and you can't believe God, turn away from me because I

  466. don't have time to explain to you right now what I'm about to

  467. do. I'm going to lay hands on my

  468. ankle and I'm going to pray. And the Lord's going to heal my

  469. ankle right here because I can't afford to walk around here in

  470. the next six weeks in crutches or whatever.

  471. And so if you can believe God with me, watch.

  472. If you're curious, watch. But if you're totally opposite

  473. of this, turn away because I got to deal with this now.

  474. I lay hands on my ankle, prayed over it, prayed in tongues.

  475. You pray somebody to get offended?

  476. No, it's my ankle. I'm not preaching to them.

  477. I'm getting my ankle bits. Jesus isn't preaching to the

  478. disciples. He's dealing with an obstacle.

  479. He's dealing with the distraction.

  480. He's dealing with something that's trying to stop him from

  481. doing what God called him to do. So some of them turned away,

  482. some watched. I prayed, lay hands.

  483. God touched it. I got up, walked around a little

  484. bit and said, guys, I'm finished for the day, 'cause it did, you

  485. know, get darkened and all this good stuff.

  486. It goes with that. But it didn't hinder me from

  487. going about my daily business. Amen.

  488. I thought, well, I didn't do it for them.

  489. I did it for me. But a lady in our church came to

  490. me about a month later and she started working in this doctor's

  491. office and she came to me and she said, pastor, did you have a

  492. problem with your ankle? And the why?

  493. About a month or so ago I said, well, why she goes, well, the

  494. guy I'm working for is a doctor and said he was playing

  495. basketball over here at the gym with you and you came down.

  496. He was just sure that your ankle was broken.

  497. It was a mess and he said you told everybody to either look or

  498. turn away. And he said you prayed in some

  499. language. Then you switched it over to

  500. English and prayed for your ankle and got up and walked

  501. around. He said it's a it's a he said.

  502. I'm still dumbfounded about it. He said what goes on in Y'all's

  503. church, but you know what that was used to but this to him.

  504. Praise God. But I didn't do it to witness to

  505. him. I dealt with it to stop the

  506. enemy from hindering me, from going about doing what God's

  507. called me to do. Amen.

  508. I didn't sin to cause my ankle to get turned.

  509. I was actually enjoying life. Jesus didn't sin to get in a

  510. distressful situation with this. See, you got to understand.

  511. Hebrews 12 says that we are to follow the Lord, keep our eyes

  512. on Him, and then he says we're to lay aside every weight and

  513. sin. Well, you see, they're a waste.

  514. This tree was a weight. It wasn't a sin.

  515. It was a distraction, bad reports, something that happened

  516. that you weren't planning on. And what's the Lord say?

  517. He tells him he down here, let's go on, Jesus speaks.

  518. So they hear it. And then in verse 20.

  519. Now in the morning as they pass by, they saw the fig tree dried

  520. up from the roots. And Peter remembering, said to

  521. him, Rabbi, look, the fig tree which you cursed us, withered

  522. away. So Jesus answered and said to

  523. them, have faith in God. Oh no.

  524. So Lord didn't even respond to Peter talking about the fig

  525. tree. Why?

  526. Because once it was done, it was done.

  527. Amen. See, here's the thing, folks.

  528. You get up and you're going to work and you come up to the

  529. stoplight, it turns green and somebody goes blowing through

  530. about the time you pull out and they're blowing their horn at

  531. you, acting like you're the ones wrong.

  532. Now I know that doesn't frustrate or 'cause anybody here

  533. would be aggravated because I can see the Halo around you and

  534. but for me, I've had tendencies to get aggravated.

  535. OK, but here's what we do. If you deal with it right, then

  536. you should let it go. That was a fig tree experience.

  537. All it's doing is trying to disrupt and and and aggravate

  538. you for the rest of the day and stop you from enjoying life.

  539. So what do you do? You say, Lord, I thank you that

  540. that nut didn't hit me. Hallelujah.

  541. And I pray for him that he'll not run through another light

  542. and somebody else will run through a light.

  543. And I put it in your hands and I thank you that I'm going to have

  544. a great day in the name of the Lord Jesus.

  545. Hallelujah. And you know, you go and you

  546. never bring it up again. And what if you do something and

  547. you missed it? Maybe you, you made a turn.

  548. You're going to, you're going to take a shortcut.

  549. You saying you just turn down the road and you know this will

  550. give me 5 minutes. I can get there 5 minutes

  551. quicker. And you turn, you go around the

  552. curve and they got the road blocked off.

  553. Well, they're literally doing their work, but they didn't have

  554. a sign telling you that the road was closed.

  555. Now you're either going to sit there and throw a fit because

  556. they're fixing a road, but either way, you know what you

  557. have to do. You have to back up, turn around

  558. and go back out and get on the main path and get on to where

  559. you was gone. But here's what the devil wants

  560. you to do. He wants you to get so upset

  561. because your plan was thwarted by something you weren't ready

  562. for. He wants you to just talk about

  563. the hindrance that they were to you all day long.

  564. Break rolls around and you telling them about how they're

  565. fixing that road and didn't put the signs out.

  566. Lunch rolls around, you say it cost me 5 extra minutes.

  567. You get home, you say, Honey, you know what happened to me

  568. today? No.

  569. And I don't want to. I don't want, I don't want to

  570. know what happened you today. I want to know what did you do

  571. today in your walking plan with God?

  572. Because you see, the Lord is not going to even let the apostles

  573. bring up the fig tree. They're trying to direct him

  574. back to a hindrance. And he says no, no, no, no, no.

  575. Have faith in God. Don't think about the tree.

  576. Think about God. Put your trust in God.

  577. Walk with God. Stay in faith.

  578. Don't get caught out. Don't be pulled away.

  579. Stay in faith. Because God has great things for

  580. you and that's only there to just to hinder you and to cause

  581. you to not get the great things God wants you to have.

  582. Amen. And then the Lord tells them

  583. exactly what they need to do with their faith in verse 23.

  584. For surely, I say to you, whoever says that this mountain

  585. be removed, be cast into the scene does not doubt in his

  586. heart, but believes that those things he says will be done.

  587. He will have whatever he says. Isn't that amazing?

  588. The Lord took something that the devil meant for bad to disrupt

  589. and and hinder him and turns it around and makes it a teaching

  590. moment to help the apostles to grow in their faith, to move

  591. things out of their life. So what am I preaching you this

  592. morning? We're all going to have tests.

  593. We're all have trials. But the Lord told us that we're

  594. to imitate him, copy him, and live like he lives.

  595. Amen. So therefore, I need to find out

  596. how the Lord dealt with that. And if that's the way he dealt

  597. with it, then that's the way I should deal with it.

  598. And I should stay focused on what God has called me to do and

  599. what he said I can do and keep that as the main focus.

  600. My faith walk with God is more important than some little

  601. disappointment that tried to stop me from having a good day.

  602. Amen. And while I'm preaching this to

  603. you, what's going on? You're thinking about all kinds

  604. of little fig trees that the the enemy's been planting all around

  605. your house, in your neighborhood, on the job site.

  606. What are you going to do with them?

  607. Deal with it and go on. But what if I missed it?

  608. Deal with it and go on. Bonnie and I were down in

  609. Virginia and I at the time. I had when the Mustangs came out

  610. it was a Ford Mustang Cobra OK. It was pretty nice little car.

  611. It wouldn't move. We're driving along.

  612. I come off the exit ramp, go down and the moment I did I

  613. realized I was 1 exit too quick and then we'd go down about I

  614. guess 4th of a mile and it goes into two lanes and it runs into

  615. a dead end and it you have to go right or left.

  616. And Bonnie says what are you going to do now?

  617. Because we're supposed to be up there and this is 1/2 mile down

  618. to the next exit. I looked at her and I said hold

  619. on she goes why? And I turned the wheels put in

  620. first, revved it up, light turned and when the light turned

  621. I turned. I did a full donut in the road,

  622. spun it around and headed back out towards the Interstate,

  623. shifting gears while the tires are still speeding and she's

  624. over pinned up against the wall of the car.

  625. She was. Do that again.

  626. Tell me first, I said. Hold on.

  627. What? I wasn't going to let that fig

  628. tree stop me from enjoying my trip.

  629. Hallelujah. So I just turned it into a an

  630. opportunity to show everybody what my car could do.

  631. Hallelujah. Amen.

  632. And I'm going to tell you something, folks.

  633. There are people that are watching to see how we're going

  634. to deal with something that the enemies try to throw at us.

  635. What are you going to say? How they going to respond?

  636. What's going to be their expression?

  637. How they going? Because we're going to find out

  638. if they're really Christian. Now come on, we're going to find

  639. out if they really believe and what they believe.

  640. And so you can either let it defeat you or you can grab a

  641. hold of God's word, and you would do.

  642. The Lord said. And the Amplified says, have

  643. faith in God constantly. You know what that means?

  644. Always. In every situation.

  645. Even when you thought you was going to get breakfast and you

  646. didn't. Now you know why the Lord was so

  647. tough on those people when he showed up at the temple.

  648. Amen. Hallelujah.

  649. Bless God. You stop me from having

  650. breakfast. I'll show you.

  651. No, I had no difference. But this is thing.

  652. He went on about his business and never brought it up again.

  653. I don't know what disappointments the enemies

  654. tried to throw at you. You know what you need to do.

  655. Deal with them like Jesus did. So no more.

  656. I'm not going to listen to another thought.

  657. I'm not going to listen to another word.

  658. I'm not going to think about it. You're done.

  659. You're dead. You're not.

  660. Not only my life. I don't want to hear it.

  661. My family. I don't want to hear it with my

  662. friends. It's never going to be brought

  663. up again. In Jesus name, you say, Lord, I

  664. thank you, that I am not distracted.

  665. I am committed. I am.

  666. I'm focused and I'm going to fulfil what you called me to do.

  667. This little fox is not going to keep me from having the great

  668. blessing that you promised in my life.

  669. Amen. Come on, Even if I got a little

  670. misled, I'm going to get right back on the right path and I'm

  671. not going to fuss at myself, condemn myself, or think that

  672. I'm unworthy because I turned the wrong turn.

  673. Amen. Jesus made a wrong turn, went in

  674. and cleaned out the temple and brought holiness back in and set

  675. people free. Why?

  676. Because he refused to let his wrong turn turn into a sin.

  677. Are you hearing me? And he stayed committed.

  678. And when he realized it wasn't right, he fixed it and went

  679. right back to doing what was right.

  680. Hallelujah. I saw this one time when in the

  681. early days. Well, it was early days of my

  682. ministry, 1980, that's a few years ago.

  683. But we had a young lady come in, and she did praise and worship

  684. and sang and ministered. And she was actually from Pastor

  685. John Osteen's church. And so we'd had her come in.

  686. Of course we were all somewhat young in those days, but, you

  687. know, but she's up there on a Sunday morning and she's playing

  688. the piano and she's doing this song and she had a really pretty

  689. voice and she taught with it and she, she used all and so she's

  690. doing it and it had a key change.

  691. So she go, no, no, no. And she hits and goes, she just

  692. stopped. She goes, I changed to the wrong

  693. key. I'm, I Can't Sing of that key.

  694. It's the wrong key. She looks around, she goes, and

  695. this was probably the best teaching moment and it ties

  696. right in. Lord took me back to this, she

  697. said. Now I could get embarrassed.

  698. I could quit, I could lose the anointing and I could just sit

  699. here and think, why did I do that?

  700. She said. Or I can go, no, no, no, there

  701. it is. I can go to the right key and

  702. just keep going. I'm going to go to the right key

  703. and keep going. And she hits the notes and just

  704. kept singing her song and finish your song.

  705. I said it's the best Bible lesson on staying committed to

  706. the pion of God that I'd heard anybody do.

  707. And she did it with the music song.

  708. She didn't sin. She hit the wrong key.

  709. So instead of staying in the wrong key.

  710. I've seen people that pastor stay in the wrong key.

  711. Well, you got oh, I got all these leaves from that tree.

  712. If I was going to go that far I'm going to get something.

  713. Well, the leaves aren't going to help you silly.

  714. Hey, man. No.

  715. Get back on the course. Get back on the course.

  716. Do what God's called you to do. Stay with what the Lord's told

  717. you to stay with. Amen.

  718. And what am I going to do? I'm not going to let the fig

  719. tree, and I'm not going to let the problem determine what I

  720. believe. Amen.

  721. I'm not going to let it determine what I say.

  722. It's not going to determine my actions.

  723. My faith in God's going to determine what I say, what I

  724. believe, and my actions. I don't know what kind of

  725. mountain you're facing right now.

  726. The mountain should not be determining your confession.

  727. Your faith in God should be determining your confession.

  728. And you shouldn't be talking about the mountain.

  729. You should be talking to the mountain.

  730. You should be coming from a position of faith and power, not

  731. from a position of worry and doubt.

  732. Amen. But yeah, brother, what if I

  733. made a wrong decision getting to the mountain?

  734. Do what Jesus did. Deal with it, Curse it, get it

  735. out. Give it no place.

  736. Get right back on the path. Because see, here's the thing.

  737. If you don't deal with that little fig tree, when you

  738. finally do get to your mountain, that mount's going to remind you

  739. of your fig tree. That mount's going to say, if

  740. you couldn't deal with a little thing, how do you think you're

  741. going to deal with this big thing?

  742. And then that mount's going to say you're not worthy.

  743. Who do you think you are that you can say that and the enemy's

  744. immediately going. If you didn't get it out of

  745. completely out of your life, the enemy's going to just take you

  746. right back to your failure of getting figs.

  747. But if you dealt with it like Jesus dealt with it, even when

  748. somebody brings it up, you refuse to even for comment when

  749. they brought it up. Look the fig tree, you curse his

  750. drive. Jesus didn't even bring it.

  751. He didn't even comment on it. He just said have faith in God.

  752. He wouldn't join in the conversation.

  753. Why? Because in his eyes it's a dead

  754. deal. Amen.

  755. The moment you dealt with it, it's dead.

  756. It's gone. It's out of this thing.

  757. Hallelujah. It no longer has any part in

  758. this equation. Praise God.

  759. I am now in faith. God is moving, and I'm here and

  760. blessed be God. I don't do this because I'm

  761. perfect. I don't do this because I

  762. deserve it. I do this because God qualified

  763. me to operate in my inheritance with the Lord Jesus Christ, and

  764. it's in his name, under his authority, I deal with this.

  765. So, devil, you're going to have to deal with Jesus, not me.

  766. Hallelujah. Amen.

  767. And that's how we begin to imitate God.

  768. That's why he came to us in the flesh, because he knew we

  769. couldn't imitate him while he's sitting on the throne, because

  770. we aren't there. So when we couldn't get to him,

  771. he came to us and said, Now let me show you how to live this

  772. life. Let me show you how to deal with

  773. disappointments. Let me show you how to deal with

  774. situations. Let me show you how to stay in

  775. faith and operate in the power of the Kingdom of God, even when

  776. it doesn't look like you deserve.

  777. Amen. And what I need to do is this.

  778. I need to make Jesus high priest of my faith confession and let

  779. him determine what I'm going to say in every situation.

  780. Amen. And then I need to hold fast my

  781. confession. Don't know are you hearing me?

  782. Because in Mark 11/23 it that word there down at the bottom it

  783. says and you'll have what you're say.

  784. You shall have whatever he says. It's plural.

  785. The saith in the King James. That's a continuous action verb.

  786. You know what he's saying? He's saying just keep saying

  787. what God says about it and you'll have what God says about

  788. it. Well, I told that mountain to

  789. go, then just keep telling it. Amen.

  790. Praise God. I had a had a had a dog and we'd

  791. try to get him to go outside and we said, OK, you got to go.

  792. He'd walk over the door and look at me.

  793. OK, I'll walk over the door and open the door.

  794. You got to go. He'd walk out on the porch and

  795. said, not here, you got to go. And I keep on talking.

  796. You know what? I finally get him to the yard,

  797. whatever. And then I bring him back in.

  798. Hallelujah. You know, I didn't just say to

  799. him, you got to go out. One time.

  800. I walked him through it until I got what I said accomplished.

  801. Amen. And the Lord is saying, why

  802. would you look at the mountain, say something to it, and then go

  803. check and see if it's there? Jesus cursed that fig tree,

  804. turned around, went on in and did what God called him to do.

  805. And he said, I'll tell you what you do.

  806. You face that situation, you stand there without guilt,

  807. condemnation, doubt or inferiority.

  808. You say to it and then you just keep saying, I thank you, Lord,

  809. it's done. I thank you Lord, this thing's

  810. out of my life. I thank you, Lord, for the

  811. victory and just keep saying what God says, not what the

  812. problem says. Amen.

  813. And if your faith begins to waver, remember Romans 10/17,

  814. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

  815. So what do you do if your faith starts to waver?

  816. Go back into the Word and feed your faith the Word of God until

  817. it gets strong again and it empowers your confession to say

  818. what God says. Amen.
