-
We're going to have to take a drink today.
-
OK, All right, I'm prepping you because for this whole month
-
we're going to be ministering on the gifts of the Spirit or
-
supernatural gifts, and we're going to do it all month.
-
So I'm going to do today, set you up, get you lit.
-
Can I say that get you lit on fire so that you're expecting so
-
that you're drawing, But then next week pastor's going to come
-
in and and minister on the three power gifts.
-
Those are the gifts that do something.
-
And then the last two Sundays I'm going to minister on the
-
revelation gifts and the inspirational gifts.
-
So these gifts of the spirit, you may be like, wait, what?
-
What is that? What are those?
-
We're going to talk about it. We're going to talk about it a
-
little bit today and we're going to understand how we can be in a
-
position to move more and the gifts of the Spirit as a body,
-
because you know, God wants to move through you and the
-
supernatural gifts of the Spirit.
-
And but if we're not full and we're not ready, then we're not
-
in a position to eagerly desire them like the Scripture says.
-
So we're going to start with some foundation.
-
I'm going to lay some foundation.
-
So whether you've been here a week or you've been here for 10
-
years, you better be expecting and you better be drawing
-
because the Holy Ghost wants to minister to us and speak to us
-
this morning. So our foundation, you and I
-
should be moving and operating in this and we're going to have
-
to change the course of it today.
-
I have about 20 pages, but it is font 3:30.
-
So don't worry about it, OK? Because so I'll be, I'll be
-
every two seconds I'll be flipping a page because that
-
font, I like that big old font. OK, so let's start by talking
-
about the Holy Ghost. OK, Now you know this is the
-
church age and you know this is the dispensation of the Spirit
-
of God. That's what this is.
-
And Jesus told us in John 16, seven, He said, nevertheless, I
-
tell you the truth, it's to your advantage that I go away.
-
He said it's way, way better, way better if I go away, for if
-
I do not go away, the helper will not come to you.
-
But if I depart, I'll send him to you.
-
The helper that literally is the Paraclete, the one that's called
-
alongside you to help. And that Paraclete, he is your
-
comforter. He's your comforter.
-
He's your advocate, he's your intercessor, he's your
-
counselor, he's your strengthener, and he's your
-
standby. That's what he does for us, the
-
Paraclete. And you know, the Scripture says
-
that the Holy Spirit loves, he loves you.
-
The Spirit. We know God loves you.
-
We know we we've heard it a million times, Jesus loves you.
-
But you know, the Bible says that the Holy Ghost loves you.
-
He loves you. And it says he thinks, he feels,
-
he speaks, he has a mind, he's also grieved, he's also quenched
-
at times, and he can be resisted.
-
He's a person, He's not a dove, he's not the wind.
-
He's not some impersonal thing that you just have whenever you
-
want him. He's not just something that,
-
oh, when I'm in a trial or when I'm, when I'm dealing with
-
something, I really need a word from God.
-
I'm now I'm going to ask him. No, he's there for you all the
-
time, every day, every minute of the day.
-
You're supposed to be with him in partnership with him.
-
He's supposed to be your closest partner, closer than your
-
spouse. So we're going to talk about it.
-
Second Corinthians chapter 13, verse 11, Second Corinthians 13
-
verse 11 says, finally, brethren, and you know Paul and
-
this benediction, you know, when you're leaving somebody for a
-
while, you've got some important words you want to say to them.
-
So he tells them in these, in these final scriptures, he says,
-
brethren, farewell, become complete, be of good comfort, be
-
of one mind, live in peace and the God of love and peace will
-
be with you. Greet one another with a holy
-
kiss. All the Saints greet you, the
-
grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and listen
-
the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you.
-
All that word communion means partnership, it means joint
-
participation, it means intimacy, it means intercourse
-
intercourse. It also means my partner and my
-
sharer in everything. So the scripture is saying he,
-
you're to be in constant communion, partnership,
-
fellowship, intercourse, participation with the Holy
-
Ghost all the time. So let's take just a minute and
-
explain because remember our goal is to talk about spiritual
-
gifts or the gifts of the spirit.
-
So we need to 1st understand the difference between the spirit
-
within and the spirit upon. So when you get born again, this
-
the Holy Ghost, you, you are a spirit.
-
We understand this whether you're born again or not, you
-
are a spirit, you have a soul and you live in a body.
-
And when you made Jesus the Lord of your life, the Holy Ghost,
-
the Holy Spirit came to live within your spirit man.
-
But your spirit is still there and you either have what the
-
Bible calls a strong spirit or a weak spirit.
-
And we need to be a church that have strong spirits.
-
The spirit of the man can, can, can cause you to overcome or
-
conquer sickness, conquer poverty, conquer, lag, conquer
-
anything. If you have a strong spirit now
-
you can walk around here and say, Yep, I'm spirit filled.
-
Yep, I go to a spirit filled church.
-
And you know what? Honestly that word is used way
-
too loosely. Because you're spirit filled yet
-
you're super carnal. I'd have to say I'm not saying
-
you are, I'm just giving an example.
-
You're super carnal, maybe in an area of your life.
-
Then I'd have to say you're not spirit filled.
-
You're not full. Can I say that you're not full
-
of the spirit? The Holy Ghost is in you, but
-
you're either yielded to him daily or not.
-
So we're going to make a, an effort today when we leave here,
-
that we're going to stay full, that we're not going to let our
-
natural thinking, our own plans, our own desires get in the way
-
of our intimacy with the Holy Ghost.
-
Amen. All right, so the 9 fruits of
-
the Spirit go with and are in you when you get born again.
-
That's from Galatians 5. The fruits of the spirit, love
-
and joy and peace and patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness,
-
faithfulness and self-control. So those are all in you.
-
Now whether you decide to yield to those or not is up to you,
-
but they are in your born again recreated spirit.
-
I can, I can walk in the love of God that's been shed abroad in
-
my heart by the Holy Ghost or not.
-
I can be patient or not. I can be kind or not.
-
You choose if you're going to yield to those fruits of the
-
spirit. So when you get born again, you
-
have those fruits to develop character within you.
-
Proverbs 2027 says the spirit of man is the candle of the Lord,
-
searching all the inward parts of the belly.
-
So the Holy Ghost within you at, at salvation, he is searching
-
all the inward parts of you and you should let him do that.
-
You should allow the work of the Holy Ghost within your heart.
-
John 414 says, But whoever drinks, there's that word drink.
-
We're going to talk about it again in a minute.
-
Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never
-
thirst, will never thirst, but the water that I shall give him
-
will become in him. This is talking about the Holy
-
Ghost within you, in him, a fountain of water springing up
-
to everlasting life. Now that word springing up means
-
like to leap up. The Zoe life of God is in you.
-
It's it's the Zoe like like I'm jumping.
-
It's in you. It's big.
-
The greater 1 is in you. So you have the Holy Ghost
-
within you all the time. The Zoway life of God.
-
That's the spirit within. That's a spirit within you.
-
You are, you know, the Bible talks about you are the temple
-
of the Holy Ghost. You are the House of God.
-
We are corporately the house, the corporate house, but your
-
temple is also the House of God. You are the temple of the Holy
-
Ghost. But are we aware, You know, one
-
of the issues about the gifts of the Spirit and we'll get there
-
is that we're not even thinking about them.
-
And I won't have a show of hands, but, but I guarantee you,
-
a lot of us don't really understand the gifts of the
-
Spirit. And we're certainly not thinking
-
about them and we're definitely not desiring them.
-
We're changing that this month, OK?
-
Because when this month is over, we should have a clear
-
understanding about it and we should be open in our hearts,
-
open in our spirit to say, God, I'm here, I desire, I hunger for
-
spiritual gifts. Use me.
-
Use me in whatever you want to do.
-
And that's how we're going to be when this is over.
-
So the Spirit within is for holiness, is for character, is
-
for searching all the inward parts of you.
-
And that's that's where you start getting born again.
-
He begins to heal, He begins to mend.
-
You know, he came to heal the broken hearted and to bind up
-
the wounds. And that's what he does.
-
That's what the Spirit of God does.
-
He heals you. He speaks to you, He ministers
-
to you, He comforts you, He does everything that you need on the
-
inside. Now the Spirit upon the baptism
-
of the Holy Ghost is for service, is for power, is for
-
the thing that God's called you to do.
-
If we don't understand these basic things, then we, we won't
-
accurately operate in the gifts of the Spirit.
-
So the Spirit upon you is for power.
-
And you know in the Kingdom of God, you, you have a gift, you
-
have a call, everyone of you, there's a gift and a call that
-
God has called you to. That is without repentance,
-
which means He did not change his mind about it.
-
Whatever He's called you to do, that's what He's called you to
-
do. And if we'll get really, really
-
efficient in learning how to be led by the Holy Ghost, then
-
we'll walk in His perfect will for our lives.
-
You can hear Him. You know the Bible says you do
-
hear him, and you do know Him. You hear His voice and another
-
voice you don't ever have to follow.
-
You don't ever have to follow another voice, just His.
-
And you can be so intimate with him, so in partnership with Him
-
that there's no confusion. You know, when I sit with
-
someone and they tell me, you know, I just, I just don't think
-
I hear God. I just don't know if I'm hearing
-
God, then they're not staying built up in the Spirit.
-
They're not staying in the Word of God and in the Holy Ghost
-
building themselves up in their most holy faith.
-
And that's the key. So the Holy Ghost upon you have
-
to have the Holy Ghost, the baptism of the Holy Ghost before
-
you can operate in the gifts of the Spirit.
-
So the Holy Spirit within you is character is the 9 fruits.
-
The Holy Spirit upon you is the 9 gifts of the Spirit, which
-
we're going to get to make sense.
-
We understand all that. OK, Acts chapter one, verse 8
-
says, But you shall receive power when the Holy Ghost has
-
come upon you, and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem and
-
in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.
-
So when it says you shall be a witness, this is the Holy Spirit
-
coming upon you to to be a witness to serve.
-
And when it says Jerusalem, that's your home, that's your
-
home base. He's equipped you, He's anointed
-
you. He's giving you power to parent,
-
power to be a spouse, power. I'm talking about power, OK?
-
I'm not talking about I'm just I'm just got this ball and chain
-
and I'm just, you know, at home with my spouse and my kids.
-
And what a drain. And your home should not be
-
that. Your home should be full of
-
life, full of joy, full of peace.
-
You ought not to be somebody who has a form of godliness but
-
denies the power on the inside and upon you.
-
He's anointed you for Jerusalem, He's anointed you for your home,
-
He's anointed you for Judea. That's relatives, close friends.
-
He's anointed you to be a witness to serve Samaria, the
-
community without God. He's anointed us, all of us, for
-
this community that does not have the Lord Jesus.
-
He's anointed us for that and for the end of the earth, all
-
the nations wherever he's called us to go.
-
You like my my page, We're on like page 10 already.
-
John 737 through 39. This is the Holy Spirit upon
-
you. Remember John 414 was the Holy
-
Spirit within you. It said in him, in him, in him.
-
Now listen to 37 through 39. If anyone thirsts, let him come
-
to me and drink. He who believes in me, as a
-
Scripture has said, out of, out of, out of, instead of in Him,
-
out of His heart will flow rivers of living water.
-
Rivers of living water. But this he spoke concerning the
-
Spirit whom those believing in Him would receive.
-
For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet
-
glorified. So differing from in Him we have
-
supposed to flow out of us rivers of living water.
-
And that includes the gifts of the Holy Ghost, that includes
-
the gifts of the Spirit. What happened in the book of
-
Acts should be happening, but in an increased measure.
-
Now we are the, this should be the acts of the Church of Anchor
-
Faith Church, the acts of the Holy Ghost through Anchor Faith
-
Church. That's what it should.
-
We should be writing those pages today that we're operating in
-
the gifts of the Spirit. You know, he wants to confirm
-
his word with signs following. So you may have a lot to say and
-
you may be able to articulate the word of God to people in
-
your job, in your community, But does the Lord want to give a
-
word of wisdom through you? Does he want to give a word of
-
knowledge? Does he want for you to be able
-
to look at that person and tell them something, that they go?
-
How did you know that? Well, I didn't, but the Holy
-
Ghost did, and the Lord knew and He wants to guide you.
-
And those are the things that cause movement in people, that
-
cause them to go, wow. Not only could they speak the
-
word of God that had wisdom and had power, but then God did
-
something in my heart through them.
-
And we've got to be available and hungry and ready for these
-
things. So let's turn to 1st Corinthians
-
chapter 12. Let's look at them, the nine
-
supernatural gifts of the Spirit, verse one.
-
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to
-
be ignorant. You know you can be super smart
-
and still be ignorant, he says concerning spiritual guest.
-
Brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant.
-
You know that you were Gentiles carried away to these dumb
-
idols, however you were led. Therefore, I make known to you
-
that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus
-
accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the
-
Holy Spirit. There are diversities of gifts,
-
but the same Spirit. There are diverse differences of
-
ministries, but the same Lord, and there are diversities of
-
activities, but it's the same God who works All in all.
-
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for
-
the profit of all. For to one is given the word of
-
wisdom through the spirit to another, the word of knowledge
-
through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same
-
Spirit, to another, gifts of healings, by the same Spirit to
-
another, the working of miracles, to another, prophecy
-
to another, discerning of spirits, to another, different
-
kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.
-
But one and the same spirit works all of these things,
-
distributing to each one individually as he wills.
-
Now jump down to verse 31. It says but earnestly desire the
-
best gifts and yet I'll show you a more excellent way.
-
So there are three gifts that and you should write this down
-
because by the end of this month we should have a clear
-
understanding of these gifts of the Spirit.
-
There are three that reveal that are called the revelation gifts
-
and that's the Word of Wisdom, the word of knowledge and
-
discerning of spirits. The Word of Wisdom, the word of
-
knowledge and discerning of spirits.
-
There are three that do something which pastor will
-
cover next Sunday and they're called the power gifts.
-
That's the gift of faith, which is not your everyday live by
-
faith, faith and we'll talk about it.
-
Working of miracles and gifts of healings.
-
Those are the power gifts. And then there are three that
-
say something or they're in, we call them inspirational gifts or
-
gifts of utterance. And that's a gift of prophecy,
-
the gift of tongues and interpretation of tongues.
-
Now go back to verse one. It says now concerning spiritual
-
gifts, you know that word gifts was added.
-
So what it really says is now concerning spirituals.
-
Concerning spirituals, I do not want you to be ignorant.
-
Another way of saying that would be concerning spiritual things.
-
Another translation says concerning the things of the
-
Spirit, I don't want you to be ignorant.
-
And then there's another translation that I like
-
concerning the special supernatural abilities that the
-
Holy Ghost gives us. I don't want you to be ignorant.
-
So this is saying concerning these spiritual things, these
-
supernatural things that the Holy Spirit wants to do through
-
you. He doesn't want us to be
-
ignorant. That word ignorant just means
-
uninformed, unaware, without sound teaching or to ignore, or
-
just simply not aware of, not aware of.
-
This is most of the church in all honesty, most of the church
-
we are not aware we might read the scripture and confuse faith,
-
confuse tongues with our everyday building our self up
-
tongues. We confuse those things instead
-
of understanding clearly that these gifts, these things are
-
supernatural and they are as the Spirit of God wills.
-
But you have to be in a position to say, Lord, I earnestly desire
-
these, and if you want to move through me for a supernatural
-
gift of faith or a working of a miracle, I'm ready.
-
I think the problem part of the problem is that we're not
-
confident enough to believe that God would do something like that
-
through us. You better get your confidence
-
up. You better understand who you
-
are through in Christ because of Him, because it's not you who
-
lives, but it's Christ that lives within you.
-
And if you'll get that revelation every single day,
-
then when you get up in the morning, it won't matter how you
-
feel. It won't matter what's happening
-
in your life because you can say the greater 1 lives within me.
-
I have a conqueror on the inside.
-
Thank you Lord for this day. This is a day you made and I'll
-
rejoice and I'll be glad in it. It's your choice every day,
-
every day. If you're going to choose life
-
or death every day, nobody can choose it for you.
-
And it's not impressive if you can just choose it when you're
-
at church. There's nothing cute about it.
-
Nobody loves it. When we see you at Walmart and
-
you're doing something real weird, nobody likes it.
-
Nobody thinks that's mature. It's not.
-
It's not. You need to know who you are and
-
you need to know that the greater 1 lives in you.
-
This, this should not be our church.
-
When I say this is most of the church, this is not going to be
-
our church. We're going to walk in these
-
gifts, be available for these gifts.
-
They should be operating not just here in the church, but
-
outside of the church because they are an example.
-
They are Christ confirming his word because we're we're
-
stepping out in faith and saying, God, use me.
-
I desire these spiritual gifts. So we're not going to be
-
ignorant. Amen.
-
Verse 7 says, but the manifestation of the Spirit is
-
given to each one for the prophet of all.
-
And that word manifestation means it's something that the
-
Holy Ghost does, that is seen, it's obvious, it's clear, the
-
manifestation of the Spirit. He wants the holy, the work of
-
the Holy Ghost to be seen, to be clear, to be evident.
-
And when it says to each one, another translation says to
-
every man. That means anyone, anyone can
-
yield to a gift of the Spirit. A baby, new baby in Christ could
-
yield to a gift of the Spirit. That doesn't make them mature.
-
It just means they were yielded. It just means they were willing.
-
It just means they opened themselves up to be obedient
-
when the Holy Ghost moved upon them.
-
To each one or every man is given to profit with all.
-
So it means everybody would profit.
-
It brings profit to the body of Christ.
-
It brings profit to you because you gave and you served prophet
-
to the one hearing. It brings prophet to all.
-
Now verse 11 says, but one and the same Spirit works all these
-
things, distributing to each one as He wills.
-
These are as the Spirit of God wills.
-
But if He wills and we're not ready and we're not even think
-
about thinking about it, how's He going to use us?
-
If he. If he.
-
Moves across the congregation and and wants someone to yield
-
to a tongue or an interpretation of tongue or or gifts of
-
healings or or any other gift and and we we stand there we go.
-
No, he. Doesn't want to use.
-
Me, I don't know if I could do that.
-
I don't know if I can go forward.
-
Then he's going to find somebody else that's going to be willing
-
to do it. And and if nobody's willing to
-
do it, then you understand how selfish it is because the Spirit
-
of God wanted to communicate something and we chose to be
-
locked up. I speak out of experience
-
because I've been locked up more than once and and still being
-
called to the ministry. I've I've more than once, but
-
especially in years past, have gone up to pastor after the
-
service and went I had something and I didn't do it and I didn't
-
yield to it. Not no more.
-
If we have something, we've got to yield to it.
-
We and you're, you're going to miss it, maybe.
-
You. It may not.
-
Be for the body. It may be just for you and
-
pastors said this a million times.
-
Step out. How you going to learn how you
-
going to grow if you don't just step out, come down here and
-
we'll tell you, Nope, that's for you.
-
That was actually for you or Yep, that's for the body.
-
Get up there and share it. Marissa didn't want to come up
-
here and speak the scripture. And I said it's the scripture,
-
it's alive. Say only.
-
That's all you got to say. Just get up there and read it.
-
The word is alive. But yielding to those promptings
-
and those promptings are not just for this setting.
-
Those promptings are at home when the Holy Ghost says go
-
apologize to your spouse. I'm not talking about a gift.
-
Of the Spirit here. I'm just talking about yielding.
-
You don't need a. Gift of the Holy Ghost surely to
-
apologize to your spouse, you need to just be yielded to him.
-
You need to just listen and obey on the inside now First
-
Corinthians 12/31 says covet earnestly the best gifts.
-
Are we coveting, Are we earnestly desiring that word
-
covet? You know, this is a, this is a
-
good place for us to covet. We're not coveting somebody's
-
car or their house or things like that.
-
We're coveting spiritual gifts and we're not coveting spiritual
-
gifts so that we can be in the spotlight.
-
Because if you're coveting a spiritual gift so that you can
-
shine, your heart is going to be exposed anyway and you're going
-
to need to sit down. Because nobody.
-
Wants to hear from you. If your heart's not right, it's
-
just like the scripture we just read.
-
Greet each other with a holy kiss.
-
Well, I could greet you with a holy kiss, but if there's a man
-
around here that's greeting with a kiss because he wants
-
something different, then your heart ain't right.
-
And there's a difference. And the Holy Spirit knows your
-
heart. He knows what's.
-
Happening on the inside, and that's that internal work of the
-
Spirit within that we have to be yielded to. 1st, 1st.
-
So to covet, he tells us, to covet these gifts it means to
-
burn with zeal it. Means to.
-
Desire earnestly. It means to pursue.
-
I don't want to ask if anybody's been pursuing these gifts.
-
I'm not even going to ask to strive after to be fervently
-
boiling with zealousness for the object desired, an intense
-
desire that causes one to seek something until it's obtained.
-
He's telling. US covet these, desire these,
-
have a passion for these, have a zealousness for these gifts.
-
I want to move in your community, I want to move in
-
your church, I want to move at your job.
-
But I need you to listen. I need you to yield.
-
He wants to use you for these gifts.
-
We desire a lot of things. We covet a lot of things.
-
We pursue a lot of things. But he tells us.
-
To pursue these. To pursue.
-
This the first thing we got to ask ourself is are we hungry?
-
Are we desiring? Do we even think about it?
-
Do do we believe the gifts could move through US?
-
First Corinthians chapter 14, verse one.
1 Corinthians 14 chapter mention
-
It says. Pursue love and desire spiritual
-
gifts. There it is again desire
-
spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophecy that word
-
desires means and have an enthusiasm for have a fervor, a
-
passion, a devotion to an eagerness to achieve or possess.
-
So it's saying desire them, be excited about them.
-
Have a passion for these gifts when there's tragedy, when
-
there's things with people happening and and the hospital
-
or or you know, I know there's a serious thing happening often,
-
often I'll say on the my way there, Father, I earnestly
-
desire spiritual gifts. I thank you, Lord, I am
-
available. And if you want to move through
-
the gifts of the Spirit, I'm ready to do it.
-
You can't create it. You can't fabricate it.
-
You can't do it on your own, but you can be yielded and you can
-
be ready and you can be desiring and zealous about them.
-
And that's what we need to be. Pastor sent me.
-
A text and said get them ready. I said I will, I will.
-
All right, so Second Chronicles chapter 16, verse 9 says I don't
-
believe they have this one, but but I just want to read it to
-
you. For the eyes of the Lord run to
-
and fro throughout the whole earth looking for somebody to
-
show himself strong. And he wants to show himself
-
strong in behalf of the one whose heart is perfect towards
-
him. He wants to show himself strong,
-
not show you strong, but show himself strong.
-
And Daniel 1132 says the people who know their God shall be
-
strong and carry out great exploits.
-
Oh man, there's great exploits that we ought to be doing.
-
If he tells us to earnestly desire these gifts, how do we do
-
it? How do we burn?
-
How we get ourselves in a position to burn with zeal about
-
it. So spiritual hunger, we're going
-
to talk about that a little bit. The biggest hindrance to the
-
move of God and the Holy Ghost is apathy, complacency, a lack
-
of honor, and a lack of hunger. A lack of hunger.
-
We replace our spiritual hunger with natural things,
-
intellectual things, physical things, mental things.
-
We replace the hunger with those things.
-
And let me just take a a side note minute.
-
Can I just warn you about what the last days are supposed to
-
look like? And we are in those last days.
-
If you didn't know that we're living in the last days, and the
-
scripture says Jesus says it, Paul says it, the Scripture is
-
clear that in the last days people will become lovers of
-
their own selves. Lovers of.
-
Themselves. And it's an.
-
Unnatural thing which we know is going to lead to Romans chapter
Romans 1 chapter mention
-
1, which is why we see so much homosexuality and things
-
happening in the earth. But not just talking about that.
-
This is talking about you are so consumed with your own plans,
-
your own life, your own purposes more than his.
-
The scripture. Says that in the last days this
-
is not just going to be in the world, this is going to be in
-
the church. A.
-
Self centeredness, a selfishness or a generation of people who
-
are the I am. They look out for.
-
Themselves before anyone else preoccupied with themselves.
-
Self absorbed. Self absorbed.
-
Their own plans, their own pursuits.
-
This is the primary characteristic of the last days,
-
and there's a whole bunch of other ones that come underneath
-
that. But that's the number one way
-
and it leads to deception and we're seeing it happen.
-
We're seeing it. Happen in the church where
-
people take a thought they take on an offense of somebody else.
-
And next thing you. Know they're they're shrinking
-
back. They're starting to move.
-
Back just a little bit and now we don't even see them.
-
The scripture. Tells us it's going to happen.
-
So we can't be. Surprised by it or moved by it,
-
But we can guard our own heart. We can be in a.
-
Position to say, Lord, I hear you, the eyes of my
-
understanding are enlightened. I know you all walk in love.
-
I'm not going to be offended. I'm not going to give ear.
-
To to. Gossip to offense to anything
-
that is against the Word of God, against my pastors, against my
-
spouse, against anything else. You better be.
-
That solid in these last days that you're not giving heed to
-
seducing spirits and doctrines of demons.
-
It's happening. And we're in those last days and
-
we're seeing it. So if you're going to operate in
-
these gifts of the Spirit, you've got to not love yourself
-
so much. You've got to.
-
Quit getting your focus on just what you have going on.
-
You being the. Center of your little attention.
-
Recognize. Please be self aware or take an
-
examination. Judge yourself.
-
And go. OK, Have I been a little too
-
focused on what I want, what I need, what I think needs to
-
happen? You know, it'll help you to just
-
put your flesh down and serve and give and and do stuff that
-
your flesh doesn't like to do. Because the Paul tells us, I
-
beat my body daily. I don't think there's a lot of
-
beatings happening. But we're supposed to.
-
Be. We're supposed to be.
-
Beating our body daily. We're supposed to be.
-
Putting the flesh down every single day.
-
What could you do tomorrow that puts your flesh down?
-
You ought to just get yourself on a little 30 day challenge
-
that I'm going to every day do something that goes against my
-
flesh. That puts my.
-
Flesh under, because you need to be stronger here then you are on
-
the outside then you are here. Your mind will line up with your
-
spirit if you'll get strong and begin to meditate on the things
-
that are right. And if I'm yelling, it's OK.
-
We're going to get. This.
-
All right. Now let me say this about church
-
folk. In.
-
The last days church folk just have a little smoother way of of
-
being deceived and they just like to say, well the Lord told
-
me. Or the Lord.
-
Released me. Or the Lord.
-
Doesn't want me to do that. And you can look.
-
Them because the Bible says we can, we can judge each other's
-
fruit, we can speak the truth in love and we can say that goes
-
against the Scripture actually, but but church folk have a way
-
of making it spiritual. It's ugly, having a form of
-
godliness, but denying the power.
-
We're the church. We're the church.
-
And you know, the Bible says the gates of hell shall not prevail
-
against the church. What would happen?
-
What would happen if we all got on the same page?
-
You know one of the. Most frustrating things when
-
you're coaching a team is when they're not in unity.
-
Is when they have. Their own agendas when they're
-
not together. But once they get in unity and
-
they start meshing and loving and serving and not and being
-
unselfish, oh man, things can happen.
-
They don't even have to do with their talent.
-
How much? Different is it with us?
-
What would happen? If we all got on the same page
-
in our mind, in our spirit, what would happen in each of our
-
homes if we all woke up to tomorrow morning and said, this
-
is the day you made Lord? I'm going to be glad.
-
I'm going to rejoice in it. I'm going to walk in love.
-
If we all did that, the Holy Ghost would begin to move.
-
We would all come in this place. And we've been walking in love
-
all week. We've been putting our flesh
-
down all week. And we show up here and we're
-
hungry and we're expecting, and our spirit man's strong, and
-
we're on the same page with each other.
-
What would God? Do if we all got in faith?
-
Pastor Marcy has. Been teaching a phenomenal
-
teaching on faith on Wednesday nights.
-
If you haven't been here, get online and listen to that.
-
You either have strong faith, or you have weak faith, or you have
-
dead faith. The Holy Ghost.
-
Is with you and you may be born again, but doesn't mean you're
-
strong. It doesn't mean you're strong in
-
faith. It doesn't mean you're full of
-
the Holy Ghost. So are.
-
You hungry? Psalms.
-
One O 7 verse 9 says, For he satisfies the longing soul, and
-
he fills the hungry soul with goodness.
-
Luke 153 says He has filled the hungry with good things.
-
And Luke 621 says, Blessed are you who hunger now, for you
-
shall be filled. We've got to.
-
Get hungry. We've got to get zealous.
-
Hungry for the Word and hungry for the gifts of the Spirit, the
-
move of the Holy Ghost. First Corinthians 3 says Paul
-
says I couldn't speak to you as spiritual but as carnal.
-
Let that not. Be us that we're more consumed
-
with our natural thinking and our natural circumstances that
-
we have to say, you know, I can't even talk to you as
-
spiritual. I have to talk.
-
To you as carnal, because that's where you're at.
-
Could there be such an maturity and such a an expectation when
-
you come into this place that God begins to move in the gifts
-
supernaturally for those who are first time guests or for someone
-
who needs a word of wisdom or outside of here in your job that
-
you're so full and expecting that He can move through you in
-
an instant? He knows He can.
-
Now staying. Filled is the key.
-
We're going to end with this, although it's not the end.
-
John 7. 37 We already went there, it says, If anybody
-
thirsts, let him come to me and drink, And John 414 We read, it
-
says, But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will
-
never thirst. Are you hungry?
-
Are you? Thirsting.
-
Are. You allowing the cares of life
-
to weigh you down. Are you?
-
Drinking. There's a right?
-
Way to drink. Staying full of the.
-
Spirit will keep you more susceptible for the move of the
-
Holy Ghost, for the gifts of the Spirit not being aware of them
-
will make us not in a position for them to move.
-
So. Acts Chapter 2.
Acts 2 chapter mention
-
Let's go there. Acts chapter 2.
Acts 2 chapter mention
-
When the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with
-
one accord. There's that Unity 1 accord in
-
one place, and suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of
-
a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where
-
they were sitting. And there appeared to them
-
divided tongues as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.
-
Verse four. And they were all filled with
-
the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as the
-
Spirit gave them utterance. First of all, they were all
-
together on the inside. It didn't mean they were just
-
all together together in one place.
-
They were all together here. They're all in.
-
Unity here, expecting in faith for what the Lord said was going
-
to happen. An indicator that you are
-
filled, that you are full, is that you will speak.
-
You. Something will come out of you,
-
and I'm not just talking about tongues.
-
I'm talking about. Praise the Lord.
-
Glory to. God.
-
Thank you. Jesus.
-
You know I. Believe and the scripture says
-
it when when we see the Lord, when we're all together well in
-
the new heaven and new earth, that that when, when an Angel or
-
when someone says glory to God, it just ignites something in
-
everybody, but we all just like glory to God.
-
Hallelujah. Glory to God, that's how we
-
should be. If you're full, if you're full,
-
it won't take much and nobody's got to come slap you, although I
-
don't mind, but nobody's got to come slap you and say let's go.
-
Get full. Get excited.
-
Get full. Of the Holy Ghost on the inside
-
of you. Let your spirit man be strong.
-
You like that? That sounded kind of good, and
-
there was like a in it. OK Ephesians chapter 5.
Ephesians 5 chapter mention
-
Ephesians. Chapter 5, verse 15 says, See
-
then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but
-
as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
-
Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the
-
Lord is, and do not be drunk with wine, in which is
-
dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit.
-
Speaking. There's that.
-
Speaking again, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and
-
spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to
-
the Lord, giving thanks always. Giving thanks.
-
Always for all things. Giving thanks always for all
-
things. Some.
-
Of you didn't hear me giving thanks always for all things.
-
All. Things.
-
Can you really do that? Can you?
-
Really give him it doesn't mean that the the hard things he did
-
and he wants you to say thank you that I'm sick.
-
Not talking about that. Thank you Lord that I'm healed,
-
although there are symptoms in my body.
-
Thank you, Father, that I'm the healed of the Lord.
-
Thankful. In All Things You Know and in
-
Romans chapter 1 it talks about although they knew God, they
Romans 1 chapter mention
-
didn't honor him as God, nor were they thankful.
-
And so God gave them over to a debased mind.
-
Oh man. That should be so sobering for
-
us. Although they knew.
-
God. They knew God.
-
They. Didn't honor him as God.
-
He's first, he's Lord, he's King.
-
And they weren't thankful in everything all the time
-
Thankful. Giving.
-
Thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of
-
our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the
-
fear of the Lord be that word be filled with the Spirit is a is a
-
right now all the time present tense meaning it means be being
-
filled. All the time.
-
Be being filled. Stay full, stay filled and if
-
you are full, if you are filled, something should be coming out
-
of your mouth. He's talking to in Ephesians 5.
-
He's talking to spirit filled believers and he's telling them
-
don't be drunk with wine. But instead.
-
Be filled with the Spirit. Speaking.
-
To one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs and
-
making melody in your heart. To God.
-
Don't be drunk as like the world, there's no reason.
-
There's no reason there's. No.
-
Need. And the.
-
Scripture is clear about it. You don't need alcohol.
-
You don't need stuff to calm you.
-
You have the peace of God. You have the.
-
Joy of the Holy Ghost on the inside of you.
-
And if you don't know how to drink responsibly and drink from
-
the Spirit, that's the only people that need an alcohol
-
drink. They don't know how to drink
-
from the Spirit. I want to tell them.
-
That. All right, that.
-
Term spirit filled. Sometimes we use it too loosely.
-
And this was when Peter and John were thrown in jail.
-
And it says. Verse 23 And being let go, they
-
went to their own companions. When they got out of jail, it
-
says they went to their own companions and reported all that
-
the chief priests and elders had said to them.
-
And when they heard that, they raised their voice to God in one
-
accord and said, Lord, you are God who made heaven and earth
-
and the sea, and all that's in them.
-
Verse 29 Now Lord, look on their threats, and grant your servants
-
that with all boldness they may speak your word by stretching
-
out your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done
-
through your name of your holy servant Jesus.
-
Verse 31 And when they had prayed, the place where they
-
were assembled together was shaken and they were all filled
-
with the Holy Ghost and they spoke the word of God with
-
boldness. This was the the original 120
-
people plus more. So in Acts chapter 4 it says
Acts 4 chapter mention
-
they went back to their own company and they were filled
-
again. They were filled.
-
Again, you know there's refillings that should be
-
happening. You should be be being filled
-
all the time. I'm telling you, if you want to
-
live in victory, you've got to live like this.
-
You've got to be. Being filled.
-
You've got to stay. Full of the Holy Ghost, we live
-
drained, busy intellectual lives.
-
And we see God. Move here and there.
-
But oh, what would he do if we would get ourselves in a place
-
where we're expecting and we're we're drinking and we're full of
-
the Holy Ghost? We're supposed to be.
-
In communion intercourse in in joint participation with him.
-
Now the scripture compares being full and filled with the Holy
-
Ghost of being drunk. Now think about because some of
-
you I don't need to raise hands. Some of.
-
You have been drunk before and I'm talking about with alcohol.
-
And what did? That do for you?
-
It made you a. Little loose.
-
Made you free? To speak.
-
Made you. Full of joy, not real joy.
-
Now you understand what I'm saying.
-
Made you forget about your worries.
-
Made you just. Kind of lay any fear you had
-
down. Right.
-
So being drunk and the natural, he's comparing to being drunk in
-
the spirit now. When we're.
-
Drunk in the spirit, we're going to read Being full of the spirit
-
doesn't mean you're always drunk.
-
We're going to look at. Steven real quick and and what
-
it did for him being full of the spirit.
-
But but you can be drunk, and you're not going to ever get
-
drunk if you don't ever drink. So you you got to.
-
Start drinking every day of the Spirit.
-
That means you're. Waking up and you're saying, OK,
-
first of all, you got to be baptized in the Holy Ghost.
-
And I really believe if there's anybody here today that is not
-
baptizing the Holy Ghost in today's your day, it needs to
-
happen. It needs to happen for so many
-
reasons, so many reasons. You need the baptism of the Holy
-
Ghost, but we need to drink of the Spirit and, and we're going
-
to drink a little bit every day when we get up in the morning,
-
we go to work, we're praying in the Holy Ghost, building
-
ourselves up in our most holy faith.
-
It's not about what you see and how you feel, it's about what
-
you do. What you.
-
Do every day, verse 19 said, speaking to one another in
-
psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.
-
I I often chuckle at this because I sometimes want to just
-
go up to somebody and say glory to God.
-
But I won't. But but it says speaking to one
-
another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.
-
Really, it's having a song in your heart.
-
Having. Joy on the inside, being quick
-
to be able to to sing or dance or run or be free or not have a
-
care in the world, not be afraid of it.
-
Why do you worry? The scripture says.
-
Why do you worry about what you're going to eat, what you're
-
going to drink, what you're going to wear, what you're going
-
to, what job you're going to take, what you're going to do,
-
how you're going to make ends meet?
-
Why do you worry? Do you not?
-
Know that your Heavenly Father. Feeds the little.
-
Birds. Every time you see a little
-
bird, you ought to say I am not going to worry.
-
I am not going to. Worry.
-
I'm better than a bird. You got to quit worrying.
-
Worry keeps you out of faith. Worry.
-
Worry squashes your faith because it's fear and it's
-
anxiety and the scripture is so clear about it.
-
Be anxious for nothing. But in everything, not some
-
things. Everything with prayer and
-
supplication with. Thanksgiving.
-
Make your request known unto the Lord and then and then the peace
-
of God that surpasses your, it surpasses your understanding,
-
will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus.
-
Oh man, you should make a a declaration today.
-
I am not going to worry about one thing.
-
Not one. Not again, no more So we seem
-
like we we're a little distant from the thought of being drunk.
-
I want to look at a couple of examples.
-
First of all, First Corinthians 316 I already quoted that to
-
you, but we are the temple of the Holy Ghost and Second
-
Chronicles 513. This is an Old Testament
-
scripture about when the ark was brought into the temple.
-
Verse 13 it says, and indeed it came to pass when the trumpeters
-
and the singers were as one. Wow.
-
There seems to be a theme here about this unity.
-
Whereas one to make one sound to be heard and praising and
-
thanking the Lord when they lifted up their voice with
-
trumpets and symbols and instruments of music.
-
And praise the Lord saying for He is good and his mercy endures
-
forever. Look at what happened that the
-
house when they did this, that the house, the House of the Lord
-
was filled with a cloud, so that the priest could not continue
-
ministering because of the cloud.
-
For the glory of the Lord filled the House of God.
-
They were in one accord, in one place, singing, making melody in
-
their hearts, full in their trust of God, and they didn't
-
even have the Holy Ghost like we do.
-
Full in their. Belief.
-
What does being filled with the Spirit have to do with the gifts
-
of the Spirit? And will you always be drunk?
-
Not at all. Not at all being the full.
-
Being full, though, as the Spirit makes you ready, makes
-
you more susceptible, more ready for the move of the Spirit.
-
Now let's look at Acts chapter 6.
Acts 6 chapter mention
-
Now in those days when the number of the disciples was
-
multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by
-
the Hellenist because they're widows were neglected in the
-
daily distribution. Then the 12 summoned the
-
multitude of the disciples and said it is not desirable that we
-
should leave the word of God and serve tables.
-
Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you 7 men of good
-
reputation. Look at the qualifications here
-
of good reputation full. Of.
-
The Holy Spirit and wisdom whom we may appoint over this
-
business, but we will give ourselves continually to prayer
-
and the ministry of the Word, and the same please the whole
-
multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man
-
full of faith, and the Holy Spirit, and they chose several
-
others whom they said before the apostles.
-
And when they had prayed, they laid hands on them.
-
Listen to verse 7. Then the word of God spread, and
-
the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem.
-
And great many of the priests were obedient to the faith, And
-
Stephen, full of faith and power, full of faith and power,
-
did great wonders and signs among the people.
-
And then there arose some from what is called the synagogue of
-
the freedom disputing with Stephen, and they were not able
-
to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spoke.
-
He was full, the Scripture says, full of the Holy Ghost, and he
-
operated in faith and power. You put yourself in a position
-
to for the supernatural gifts of the Holy Ghost to move through
-
you when you're full. When you don't come.
-
In here, drained, you put yourself in a position you don't
-
have to it. It's weird if you walk out to
-
your job and you act drunk and you act drunk in the spirit.
-
There is a place for that. But you.
-
Can be so full of wisdom. That that they're.
-
Not able to even resist the wisdom by which you speak.
-
Like Stephen, we've got to be full of the Spirit.
-
There's one initial feeling of the Holy Ghost.
-
When you got baptized in the Holy Ghost, the evidence that
-
you received it is that you spoke, or you would speak in
-
other tongues. But there are multiple
-
refillings, and you need to know that.
-
And those refillings can happen at home.
-
They can happen while you're singing, they can happen in your
-
car, they can happen right here. Those refillings should be
-
happening all the time, every day.
-
They should happen when you're praying in the Spirit, when
-
you're reading the Word all the time, anytime.
-
Why? Don't we see more?
-
I'm telling you why. I'm telling you.
-
Why? Number one is the lack of faith
-
and Pastor Marcy's been ministering on it.
-
Why don't we see more signs, wonders, miracles, gifts of the
-
Holy Ghost, moving, lack of faith?
-
#2. A lack of being filled with the
-
Spirit. And number. 3A Lack of hunger A.
-
Lack of. Hunger, Paul pleads with us.
-
Please don't be ignorant of spiritual gifts.
-
Please earnestly desire them. Please covet them.
-
Please. Pursue them.
-
Please be zealous of these gifts.
-
He's. Pleading with us to do this.
-
So our job. Today is one.
-
Our job today is to make sure that we leave here full of the
-
Holy Ghost.
