Sermon
One Bite At A Time - Kingdom Life with Pastor Marci Glisson
Publisher transcript
Transcript
-
Well, you know, Sunday for those that were here, Pastor
-
ministered on the bread of life. Amen.
-
He ministered on the bread of life and it just seemed right
-
with me and him and the Holy Ghost that I would share a
-
little bit on one bite at a time.
-
One bite at a time. Because I say, how do you eat a
-
loaf of bread one bite at a time?
-
And you're going to understand why it's one bite at a time in a
-
minute. All right, as we get into the
-
Word tonight, and aren't you thankful that He's given us this
-
daily bread that brings life and nourishment and sustenance to
-
us? Amen.
-
Hallelujah. And you know what?
-
Every time you get to partake of the Word of God, of the Word of
-
God, you get to partake of life. Come on and nourishment and
-
everything that you need to sustain you in life.
-
Amen. Everything you need to sustain
-
you in life and so he ministered out of Matthew 4 four and it
-
said where he began to say Jesus man shall not live on what bread
-
alone by but every word that proceeds out of the mouth of
-
God. Every word that proceeds out of
-
the mouth of God. That is what we should live by.
-
Amen. To get our spiritual nourishment
-
to get our spiritual nourishment.
-
And then he also said this out of John 635.
-
It said Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life.
-
He who comes to me will not hunger, and he who believes in
-
me will never thirst, will never thirst.
-
And you know what will never hunger, will never hunger.
-
This is important because if you're hungry, then guess what?
-
It's your fault because you're not eating of the daily bread
-
because He lets us know, listen, you will never have to hunger
-
again because I am the bread of life.
-
And all you have to do is open up the word of God.
-
Come on and start eating of it. Start eating the Word, Amen.
-
We know John 11, Jesus said this.
-
He said Jesus is the word made flesh.
-
So we know that Jesus was born right wrapped in flesh.
-
He was in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God
-
and the Word became flesh. Verse 14 of John says what?
-
And we beheld him right? Hallelujah.
-
And so again, when we talk about who Jesus is, we have to
-
recognize that Jesus was not just the Savior.
-
Jesus is the Word. Amen, Jesus is the Word, and so
-
we are not just to have a relationship with Jesus as this
-
spiritual being outside of reading the Word to discover and
-
participate and eat from what it is that He needs to give us in
-
this life. Amen.
-
To be able to sustain us as is children.
-
And so it's very important that we recognize this.
-
And then in Matthew 611, we know this prayer.
-
What is it? Give us this day, Our Daily
-
Bread. So what does that let us know
-
that every day there is bread for us to eat?
-
Every day there is something in His word that's going to give us
-
the nutrients, the sustenance, the food that we need for the
-
day. And it's daily, right?
-
It's daily and you know, I was thinking about this about how
-
the children of Israel, how God provided for them in the desert,
-
the manna, which is a representation of the bread of
-
life as well. He gave them manna and what he
-
gave them manna enough for every day to sustain them.
-
And again, we have to realize that we as believers must be in
-
a position that we are taking in this day, Our Daily Bread,
-
reading the Word of God every day so that we can receive from
-
him everything that we need. That means everything,
-
everything that we need is going to come from us eating upon the
-
daily bread. His Word, Amen.
-
That's where our sustenance is going to come from, to be able
-
to be the children of God that He desires for us to be.
-
So really I want to talk about Joshua 1/8.
-
Why do we see? Why do I say, how are we going
-
to eat a loaf of bread one bite at a time?
-
Because Joshua 18, actually when pastor was ministering this,
-
this scripture sprung up within me.
-
And Joshua 18 says this, this book of the law shall not depart
-
from your mouth. Eating has to do with your
-
mouth. You have to open up your mouth
-
to be able to eat. And he's letting us know that
-
the book of the law shall not depart from our mouth.
-
But you shall what? Read it.
-
I'm reading out of the amplified Meditate on it day and night so
-
that you will be careful to do everything in accordance to what
-
all that is written in it for. Then you will make your way
-
prosperous and then you will be successful.
-
We are not going to be successful spending all of our
-
time in education and getting knowledge because we know the
-
scripture says what does it profit a man to gain the whole
-
world and forfeit his soul? So to be successful, this is the
-
key. There's not, you know, 9
-
principles to be successful. You know, all these motivational
-
speakers, all the conferences, all these things, they're going
-
to tell you how to be successful as a businessman, how to be
-
successful, you know, in all these different fields of
-
academia and, and everything in the world.
-
But he lets us know right here out of his word that the way
-
we're going to be successful and not just successful, prosperous,
-
prosperous is what US meditating on the word of God day and
-
night, but not just meditating on the word.
-
What else? We have to be careful to be
-
doing everything the word is saying to do.
-
So it's not just good just to, oh, I read my scriptures every
-
day. You know, I do this da, da, da,
-
da, da, da. But then there's no action
-
behind what it is that you're reading.
-
You see what I'm saying? So again, he lets us know that
-
it's going to take these two steps, actually three steps to
-
be able to be successful and to be prosperous.
-
But here I want to just focus on meditate.
-
It says this book of the law shall not depart from your
-
mouth, but you shall read it. You shall meditate on it day and
-
night. What does the word meditate mean
-
here? It means to chew on it.
-
To mutter, Mudder brings actual your vocal cords into play with
-
it. So it also could be that that
-
mouth has to begin to speak out the word that you're chewing on.
-
So it's not just chewing on it, it's also muttering it, meaning
-
you're going to meditate on this word, you're going to chew on a
-
scripture. Maybe you know, a scripture pops
-
up on the inside of you because you've been reading the word
-
every day and a scripture jumps off off the page.
-
That is the scripture that he's highlighting to you, bringing
-
revelation to you about that you need for the day.
-
And so therefore, when you receive that, you should be
-
chewing on it throughout the day, meaning meditating on it,
-
reading it to yourself, thinking about it, chewing on it, right.
-
And one picture that some, you know, people talk about is like
-
how a cow chews the what the cud.
-
They just keep it in their mouth and, you know, just keep chewing
-
on it, chewing on it and chewing on it and chewing on it.
-
So this is the picture that he's letting us know that this is how
-
we're going to be able to eat Our Daily Bread.
-
We're going to do it by 1 chew at a time, one bite at a time.
-
We're going to receive what the word says to us that day, and
-
then throughout the day we're going to begin to meditate on
-
it, chew on it, let it go around in our mind throughout the day
-
and then also throughout the day.
-
What what happens? All of a sudden the word will
-
want to come out of your mouth. This is a byproduct, a by
-
product of you meditating and chewing on the word is that it
-
will come out of your mouth. It will want to, it will want to
-
again, but you have to release it.
-
You have to open up your mouth and begin to speak it as you are
-
meditating on it. That's where that mudder comes
-
in, OK, to where you're going to begin to release it out of your
-
mouth because you've been chewing on it all day.
-
And then you can thank him. Father, I thank you that your
-
word did say whatever it was going to say to you today,
-
right? Whatever you had been meditating
-
on. Because a byproduct of that
-
meditation is, is that it's going to want to come out of
-
your mouth and you still have to release it out of your mouth.
-
OK, you have to release it out of your mouth.
-
So in Joshua 18, we can see several things here.
-
Is that that word chew on or mudder, meaning meditate on it
-
day and night. What also, we can say these
-
three simple things. You're going to have to speak
-
it. You're going to, you're going to
-
have to read it right. But then not only that, you're
-
going to have to do it. We're going to have to because
-
he says here, he says, now you be careful to do everything in
-
accordance with all that is written, with all that is
-
written right. And once we do that, then we
-
will begin to start seeing success in our life and
-
prosperity happening in our life.
-
The things that we've put our hand to will begin to prosper
-
because we're actually meditating on the word day and
-
night. We're actually spending time
-
daily living off of that daily bread that we need for our life.
-
And this is how we're going to be fruitful.
-
This is how we're going to be fruitful, right?
-
Because He wants us to have a fruitful life in him.
-
So meditation is the key, OK? Meditation is the key.
-
We have to be people that as we receive Our Daily Bread, that we
-
take that and begin to meditate on it.
-
OK, Psalms 1-2 says this, but his delight is in the law of the
-
Lord and on His law, His precepts, His teachings, He
-
habitually meditates day and night.
-
You see that habitually. So again, this needs to be a
-
practice of our life as believers.
-
If we are going to be people right walking in success from
-
prospering in our life and enjoying the Kingdom life that
-
God expects us to enjoy, then we're going to have to get back
-
to making sure that daily we are partaking of His bread, but not
-
only partaking of it. We are actually meditating on it
-
day and night. One of one good practice that I
-
like to do is I always like to start my day off in the word and
-
before I lay my head down, I want to read.
-
I want that to be the last thing in me before I go to sleep
-
because you know what? He can his your spirits always
-
awake and he can speak to you while you're sleeping on the
-
word that was just put in you before you went to bed.
-
So this is a good practice to do again day and night, right when
-
the morning when you wake up, you start your day with the word
-
and before you lay your head down on the bed, you're
-
meditating on a scripture before you go to sleep.
-
Hallelujah. Glory to God.
-
So he's letting us know that this should be a habitual thing
-
that we we have to be people that meditate on his word day
-
and night, day and night. And I believe that this is
-
something that a lot of believers are struggling with
-
because we're living in such a busy world today.
-
We're living in such a world that is so distracted, right?
-
With our cell phones, with the reels.
-
You know, what did Pastor talk about?
-
What was it last Wednesday night?
-
Brain rot, right? That this is a literal thing.
-
This is literal language that people are using.
-
And a literal thing in our world today is is called brain rot.
-
Now listen, your brain will never rot on the word.
-
And we're going to see this in a minute.
-
It's never going to rot on the word.
-
Psalms 11911 says this, Thy word I have hid in my heart that I
-
might not sin against thee. So we have to be people.
-
One way that we can hide the word in our heart is through
-
meditation, is through US daily meditating on the Word of God
-
day and night. And this is how we get His word.
-
Listen, His law, He says when we're born again, when we get
-
our new spirit and our new heart, when we get born again,
-
He says He writes His laws within our heart, our new heart.
-
He's written His laws already within it.
-
So you know what? Our heart desires it.
-
Our spirit desires the word of God, it desires it.
-
Before it didn't want it. A cold Stony heart.
-
Ezekiel talks about before we get born again, we have a cold
-
Stony heart. But once we get born again, now
-
he's written that law within our hearts.
-
So now our heart wants to receive the word of God.
-
It wants to be fed, it wants to be strengthened, right?
-
It wants to be built up. And the way we do that is going
-
to come through US meditating on the Word day and night, daily
-
participating and taking a bite of the Word of God, the Bread of
-
Life. Amen.
-
Look at Psalms 119 and 97. It says, oh how, how, oh how I
-
love thy law. You see that?
-
It is my meditation all day. And I've said this in years
-
past, if you're struggling with wanting to read the word of God
-
as a believer, just go read Psalms 119.
-
I just challenge you. And I had, you know, I've had
-
people come up to me after I've said this through for years.
-
They say, you know what, it felt like it was always stale reading
-
the word and I just lost my passion to read.
-
But when I heard you say, just go read Psalms 19, just focus on
-
Psalms 19 and just read it every day for 30 days, you know what?
-
They came back and said I have a desire now for the word.
-
You see what I'm saying? Because I'm telling you, we were
-
meant to live off of this thing. We were meant to live by it, OK?
-
We were meant to be nourished by it.
-
And it's the only thing that can nourish us and sustain us in
-
life. It's the only thing that can
-
nourish and sustain us. So he says that in Psalms 119,
-
oh how I love thy law, it is the meditation, my meditation all
-
day long. Psalms 19, not 119, but Psalms
-
19 and 14 says this because again, this is going back to
-
seeing that a byproduct of us meditating and part of us
-
meditating on the word will have to do with our mouth.
-
It will have to do with our mouth.
-
It says, Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my
-
heart. Right, be acceptable in thy
-
sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
-
So again, a by product of you really meditating on the word is
-
is that your mouth is going to begin to say something.
-
And you know we've said this before in years past.
-
You know, you can recognize where a person is by the words
-
that are coming out of their mouth.
-
What are you speaking? Because I can tell you the
-
things that you are speaking is what you have been meditating
-
on, period. It is a result of what you're
-
meditating on. So how are you talking?
-
What are you talking like is going to prove what you've been
-
meditating on, what you've been watching, what you've been
-
listening to, Everything will begin to come out of your mouth.
-
It's just a principle because what you take in from out of
-
your mouth, what flows, it flows.
-
And so again, whatever you're taking in, whatever you're
-
meditating on, whatever you're focusing on, whatever you're
-
spending time listening to, these things are going to come
-
out of your mouth as a byproduct.
-
And so we want to make sure that as believers that we are
-
meditating in the Word so that when we get in situations, in
-
circumstance, the word is the first thing that comes up.
-
And that's what my mouth will begin to speak.
-
That's what my mouth is going to say, right?
-
It's going to say the word, right?
-
Isn't that what we say? Speak the word only?
-
Isn't that what Jesus did when he was up underneath the
-
temptation of the devil? You know, the devil was tempting
-
him and all Jesus would say it is written.
-
He spoke the word because he was the word. 1 But we can say that
-
is what we know he meditated on because he only did what he said
-
that his father told him to do. He only spoke what his father
-
told him to spoke speak, right. So again, what is it that's
-
going on that you're meditating on is going to automatically, if
-
you're meditating on the bills and worry, come on and and all
-
these other things, guess what's going to be dominant out of your
-
mouth, right? But if you begin to go back to
-
what the scripture says, come on to give right?
-
And all these things good measure pressed down, shaken
-
together and running over. Come on.
-
Listen, I'm telling you these things, you they're not going to
-
come up if you've not been meditating on the word for it to
-
come up. And when it comes up, listen,
-
when a scripture comes up within you, acknowledge it.
-
The way you acknowledge it is by speaking it out of your mouth.
-
You if a scripture comes up and you're in a situation and the
-
Holy Ghost begins to pull up a scripture for you, acknowledge
-
it by speaking it out, releasing it, releasing it and speaking it
-
out because it's no good, just that it came up and it reminded
-
you it will only have power. Listen, His Word only has power
-
when it's activated by faith. And the way that it's activated
-
by faith is not just thinking about it, not just knowing
-
scripture and verse of it, but actually you speaking it out to
-
release it into the atmosphere. That's when it goes into effect
-
for your situation. OK.
-
And so again, if you haven't been meditating on the Word of
-
God and eating the daily bread, then the Holy Spirit has nothing
-
to recall to you when you're in a situation if it's not in you.
-
And we're going to see the scripture that will prove that
-
in a minute. Now let's go over to Proverbs 4.
-
Proverbs 4 is a powerful scripture, Proverbs 420 through
-
22, which you could go on and read.
-
It's just awesome anyway. But I just want to focus on
-
Proverbs 420 through 22 and there's 5 little points within
-
this. Can you believe this?
-
Five points within Proverbs 420 through 22.
-
Now again, remember what we're talking about, meditating on the
-
word of God. So the first thing we see here,
-
let's read it. It says this, my son, give
-
attention to my words. Incline your ear to my sayings.
-
Do not let them depart from your eyes.
-
Keep them in the midst of your heart.
-
For that here it is, for they are life.
-
This is that word life, sustenance, right?
-
This is the life, this is the nourishment that you're going to
-
need, he says. For in it they are life to those
-
who find them, and health to all their flesh.
-
There are 5 promises right here within these two scriptures and
-
it's powerful when we understand what these two scriptures are
-
actually saying. So I want to read this also out
-
of the Amplified Classic real quick.
-
It says, my son, attend to my words, consent and submit to my
-
sayings. There's a key there.
-
You have to consent to the Word of God for it to be activated
-
within your life and you have to be submitted to the Word of God
-
and what it is it's saying to you for it to work within your
-
life. This is powerful.
-
He says consent and submit to my sayings.
-
Let them not depart from your sight.
-
Keep them in the center of your heart.
-
How do you? We're going to see it in a
-
minute, OK, Just a minute. For they are life to those who
-
find them and healing and health to all your flesh.
-
Wow, so many good things within this two scriptures here.
-
The first thing I want us to look at is, again, we're talking
-
about here attending to His Word or meditating in His Word.
-
This is how we're going to do it.
-
When we are in a position of meditating in His Word, what are
-
we doing? We're attending to it.
-
We're attending to it all right. We're giving attention to it.
-
We're putting our attention on the word of God, not on the
-
problem or the circumstance or the situation that we are in.
-
My attention is going to be on the word of God and for me to
-
give my attention to his word. Listen to what this means in the
-
in the Greek, give attention. We're going to hear the word,
-
We're going to hearken. We're going to take heed.
-
That's a very powerful word. We're going to take heed to it.
-
We're going to mark well, mark it well.
-
We're going to pay attention to it and we're going to listen.
-
So here we see. He says listen.
-
To give attention to it or to attend to His word, we're going
-
to have to open up our ears. And we were taught that they
-
that we have a ear gate and we have a eye gate.
-
And this is how things get within our lives and not just
-
good things. So we can have a ear to hear
-
ungodly. You know, we, we taught the
-
teenagers this years ago. If you're listening to ungodly
-
music, your ear is a gate. And guess what's going to be
-
coming out of your heart because that's what you're listening to,
-
right? If your eyes are looking at
-
things it shouldn't be looking at, like on your phone, you know
-
what I'm talking about, then guess what?
-
You're going to be opening your eye gate to that.
-
And then you're going to want to produce what it is that you're
-
seeing. So your eye gate, your ear gate
-
is one way that we receive in information, period information.
-
And so here for us when he's talking about for us to meditate
-
on the word, that means why you ought to be listening to the
-
word when you're driving to work or listening to the word you
-
know, whenever. This is because you're now is a
-
part of meditating because you're opening your ear to it,
-
you're giving attention to it, you're letting it enter within
-
your heart, right? So meditation is not just
-
sitting down, you know, being quiet, like, you know, holding
-
your fingers out like they say meditation is, you know, all
-
these things. You understand what I'm saying.
-
Biblical meditation. Biblical meditation is opening
-
up your ears to hear what the word is saying, opening up your
-
eyes to read what the Word is saying so that you can what?
-
Put it within the midst of your heart.
-
Okay, now when he says listen to let me see it says attend to my
-
words. Let them not depart from your
-
site. Keep them in the and then he
-
also says here, incline your ear out, not in the amplified, but
-
it's talking about incline your ear.
-
To my sayings, that word incline your ear means that you need to
-
bend your ear towards the word. That means you're not going to
-
let anyone else. Have you ever heard that saying,
-
oh, they're they have that person talking in their ear.
-
They've bent their ear to them. Have you heard that saying?
-
That's what this is meaning. You're inclining your ear to
-
something else. You're listening to someone
-
else. You're listening to something
-
else. And most of the time that's the
-
enemy. You've inclined your ear to
-
listen to what the enemy is saying about that situation
-
instead of here. He's letting us know we are to
-
incline our ear to what the word is saying.
-
So that means I'm only going to give attention and incline my
-
ear. It also means to bend it, to
-
bend it to hear what the word is saying and not bend it to hear
-
what anybody else is saying. You see that?
-
So that's what that word means. So we're going to incline our
-
ear or bend our ear to the word of God.
-
We're going to give attention to it and how are we going to give
-
attention to it? We're going to consent to it and
-
submit to it back again what I said, we're going to acknowledge
-
it. We're going to acknowledge what
-
the word says in that situation above what anybody else has said
-
or whatever anybody else is saying to me to try to get me
-
distracted or wait. Maybe it's the enemy as well,
-
right? But we're going to keep our ear
-
bent to what the word is saying. Look at Proverbs 4 one through
-
2. It says here, O children, the
-
instructions of a father, pay attention.
-
This is this is clear picture of what he's saying here, where
-
he's saying give attention to the word.
-
Incline your ear to the word he's saying.
-
Listen, pay attention to the instruction of a father and be
-
willing to learn. So another indication of us
-
bending our ear or inclining our ear or giving attention to the
-
word is that we have to want to learn.
-
We have to be teachable. We have to be people that say,
-
God, what is your word say? And no matter what, that's what
-
I'm going to do because I'm learning from you.
-
I'm going to be teachable in what you're saying to do in that
-
situation rather than something else.
-
So he's saying be willing to learn so that you may gain
-
understanding and intelligent discernment.
-
For I give you good doctrine, I give you good food, good
-
doctrine. Listen to what it says.
-
So do not turn away from my instruction.
-
See, he gives us good doctrine. He gives us good food to eat.
-
And we have to be people willing and ready to be a learner, to be
-
teachable in what the instruction is saying from His
-
word and give attention to it, acknowledge it, submit to it,
-
consent to it. You see what I'm saying?
-
Because it's not going to work for us if we don't.
-
Just because you sit here and hear the word, it can fall on
-
what does he say, deaf ears. And it will do you no good.
-
It will not prosper you and it will not make you successful,
-
right? And we know actually I believe
-
it was Sunday Pastor mentioned Hebrews where he talked about
-
you had become what dull of hearing.
-
So our ears are very important. And we know in Revelations, I've
-
said this too, that we need to what have ears to hear what the
-
Spirit is saying. And we're only going to do that
-
if we make sure that we're inclining our ear to only want
-
to hear what the word is saying, not what everything else in the
-
world is saying, Right. So then Proverbs 2, one through
-
2 says this, my son, if you'll receive my words, here it is.
-
You have to consent to it. You have to submit to it.
-
You have to receive it in your heart for this word to to to
-
take root and to actually come alive within you for it to
-
produce. So he says, listen, you have to
-
receive my words and here it is and treasure my commandments
-
within you this and we know he says his word is like great
-
treasure. It's a treasure, and He lets us
-
know, listen, we're going to have to receive His word and
-
we're going to have to treasure this commandment within you.
-
So here it is verse 2, so that your ear is attentive to
-
skillful and godly wisdom. When we give attention to the
-
word, when we meditate on the word, when we incline our ear,
-
when we are learner, being a learner, when we are being
-
teachable, when we're saying, Lord, give me this bread, I need
-
this nourishment. Listen to what he's saying.
-
Then you are going to what apply to your heart, understanding,
-
seeking it consistently and striving for it eagerly.
-
So we need to be people that are always being consistent and
-
daily taking in the bread, eating the Word of God, making
-
sure our ear is being attentive, becoming skillful to it.
-
That's very important. You know you're not going to
-
become skillful or have wisdom if you're not applying the Word
-
of God to your life every single day.
-
Every single day. He wants you to apply the Word
-
in everything in your life, every detail, every single day.
-
He wants you to live by this Word.
-
Amen. Proverbs 51 says this.
-
My son, give attention to my wisdom.
-
Here it is again. Incline your ear to my
-
understanding. So these ears are very important
-
and we have to pay attention. We have to be people that are
-
going to incline our ear to only hear what the word is saying.
-
Amen. Let's look at the next point.
-
It says this. Do not let them depart from your
-
eyes. This is very important because
-
he lets us know that our eyes. He tells us that we need to
-
actually fix our eyes, fix our gaze on what the word is saying.
-
Do not let them depart from your eyes.
-
Do you know what this means when you look it up?
-
Depart from your eyes. Depart.
-
It means do not let, do not go back.
-
How about this one? Don't look back.
-
Don't turn aside because he tells us to look what?
-
Straight ahead. Keep our eyes fixed on the
-
prize. Who is the author and finisher
-
of our faith? Who is it?
-
Jesus. So he tells us, fix your eyes,
-
keep them straight. Don't look back.
-
Don't turn to the side. Come on.
-
We're supposed to keep our view ahead.
-
That's what this means actually. Also it means don't go crooked.
-
How about cross eyed? I mean, I'm adding that I think
-
it could. I think that word could attain
-
to this. Don't go crooked.
-
What are we talking about? Keep your path straight.
-
Keep your eyes fixed on the word of God.
-
So our eyes are important in this as well, in this meditating
-
and keeping it fixed on the word of God.
-
Don't let it get out of your view.
-
Don't let it get out of your view, keep it before your eyes.
-
Psalms 1/19/15. This is the English standard
-
version. It says it like this.
-
Psalms 11915. I will meditate on your precepts
-
and fix my eyes on your ways. You see that?
-
So as believers, our eyes are important.
-
Our ears are important. And He also lets us know our
-
heart is important. We're going to see that in a
-
minute. Proverbs 3, Proverbs 3, and
-
verse 3 says this. And then I'm going to drop down
-
to verse 21. It says do not let kindness and
-
truth leave you. Bind them around your neck.
-
Write them here it is on the tablet of your heart.
-
You know, when the Word of Faith movement came out years ago,
-
this was really, really something that a lot of people
-
did. They would write down the
-
scriptures or even write down a scripture and take a picture of
-
something that they were believing and put it on the
-
refrigerator. They would write down scripture
-
and they would put it on, you know, wherever their mirror.
-
What were they doing? They were literally keeping the
-
word before their eyes. And I feel like, you know, we've
-
all gotten away from this, right?
-
Because this is part of meditation on the word met.
-
A part of meditation is us not just reading it, writing it
-
down, putting it before our eyes.
-
What's the scripture that we're standing on, right, Putting it
-
before our eyes and we're going to see that One of the important
-
things too, about meditation has to do with memorizing.
-
Memorizing. This is why in Sunday school,
-
what is the number one thing we try to do is, is get the
-
children to to memorize little verses, right?
-
What is that doing? Do you think we're just doing
-
that just to do it? No, it's getting it in their
-
heart. It's lodging it within their
-
heart because that's part of a very important part of
-
meditation is memorization as well.
-
And so he says, listen, write them on the tablets of your
-
heart, my son. Let them not vanish from your
-
sight. Keep sound wisdom and
-
discretion. You know what that tells me?
-
That if I don't keep meditating on the Word, if I don't keep the
-
Word before my eyes, if I don't keep my ears inclined to the
-
Word and what it's saying, then I'm going to not have proper
-
discretion and not have sound wisdom when it comes to a
-
situation that I'm encountering. I'm not going to have proper
-
discernment. And so, you know, I know for me,
-
I want to know that when I'm encountering situations and when
-
I'm in, in, in a scenario, I want to have sound wisdom and I
-
want to have discernment and discretion about reality of
-
what's happening. Because if you're not keeping
-
yourself in a place of this meditation, then I'm going to
-
tell you when you get in situations, you're not going to
-
have sound wisdom and you're not going to have the discernment
-
that you need. The next thing he lets us know
-
here #4 this is the fourth point.
-
I had five. The 4th point was keep them in
-
the midst of your heart. Keep them in the midst of your
-
heart. So what does this mean?
-
You're getting in the Word every day and it's keeping it in the
-
midst of your heart. You're putting it within your
-
heart, your spirit man. But listen to what this heart is
-
letting us know. Don't have a divided heart.
-
Don't have a divided heart because you can have an opinion
-
about something that's not what the Scripture is saying and your
-
heart be divided. So we can't be people that have
-
a divided heart. We for us, we want just the word
-
kept within our heart. We want nothing but the word,
-
right. So help us God, the truth, the
-
truth of God's Word, That's what we want to keep in the midst of
-
our heart. We don't want to have a divided
-
heart with other opinions, other thought processes, other things.
-
We want to have strictly a heart full of His word, and that's
-
what that's talking about here. Keeping it in the midst of your
-
heart. Listen to what it says.
-
It means this, to guard it, to guard it, to protect it, to
-
observe, to do it. So again, just because we're
-
meditating on it and putting in our heart, we have to actually
-
do it for it to actually be the center of our heart.
-
We have to be doing what the word is saying.
-
Because if we're not doing it, we're doing our thought or our
-
opinion or whatever we want to do instead of what the word is
-
saying to do because it won't be the center of your heart.
-
You have a divided heart is what he's letting us know here.
-
So again, guarding it, protecting it, observing it,
-
retaining it, or I love this how it said this treasure up, build
-
your treasure up, get your heart so full of the treasure of the
-
word of God, treasure up. But in that word, treasure up
-
means memory. How do you get so much word in
-
you again that you got it memorized to memory?
-
Treasure up, get so much of His word.
-
And we're going to see this in a second.
-
I'm going to read the scripture that talks about this treasure
-
up in your memory. And not only that, it means to
-
keep watch over. That means you're not going to
-
let because you know, what are the number one things when the
-
seed of the word is sown in your heart, the enemy tries to come
-
and what? Snatch it out of your heart?
-
That's why he tells us to guard it, protect it, because the
-
enemy wants to snatch it out of your heart so it don't take root
-
in you to become a treasure, to become so treasured up that it
-
is in memory. So that means when you're in a
-
situation, the Holy Ghost, you're just quoting these
-
scriptures. Come on.
-
They're just coming up because you're so full of the treasure
-
of God's Word because you've been meditating on it day and
-
night. Come on, you're so full of His
-
word that that's the only thing that can come out of your mouth
-
now the center of your heart also, because we know the heart
-
is connected here is talking about your inner man and your
-
soul realm, which is your mind, your will, your the seat of your
-
emotions. See if you get so treasured up
-
in the word of God and so full of it, you will dominate your
-
emotions because remember First Thessalonians 523.
-
This is just a side note. He wants us to sanctify ourself
-
what be blameless spirit, soul and body.
-
So we need to get and we've talked about this when we taught
-
on spirit, soul and body. We want our spirit man so full
-
of the word of God that it dominates our body, our flesh
-
and it right and it dominates our emotions in our soul realm
-
so that it would be what two against one.
-
And when you get your heart so full of the word of God, it will
-
dominate in both all three arenas and you won't have to
-
worry about letting it, you know, be the you you already so
-
full that it's not your flesh is not dominating you at all and
-
your mind and your emotions are stayed on the Lord on the word.
-
It's on the word and why do I say that?
-
Because of this word right here. Colossians chapter 3, Colossians
Colossians 3 chapter mention Colossians 3 chapter mention
-
chapter 3 and verse 16. Listen to what he says.
-
Let the word of God. I'm reading out of the
-
amplified, but I'm going to just quote it what it says.
-
Let the word of God what richly dwell within you, Let the word
-
of God richly dwell within you. This is richly.
-
This is that word treasured up. It's richly dwelling within you,
-
the word of God. You are so full because you've
-
been meditating day and night. You've been keeping your eyes
-
fixed on what the word of God says.
-
Come on, you've been inclining your ear to what the word of God
-
has said about your situation and you are the word of God is
-
so richly dwelling within your heart.
-
Listen to what the amplifies it says.
-
Let the spoken Word of Christ have its home within your or
-
dwelling in your heart and your mind, because again, that was
-
connected the heart and the mind in your heart and mind
-
permeating every aspect of your being.
-
As you teach spiritual things, listen to what it says, admonish
-
and train with one another. With all wisdom, look at the
-
byproduct of the Word of God richly dwelling within you.
-
Your mouth is going to open up and sing psalms of hymns,
-
spiritual songs, making melody within your heart and
-
thankfulness. So I'm going to tell you, when
-
you come in here and you act like you can't worship God, you
-
know what? That lets me know you have not
-
been meditating on the word day and night so that the word is so
-
full and richly dwelling within you.
-
A byproduct of it is that I'm going to open up my mouth and
-
I'm going to begin to praise him.
-
Come on, I'm going to begin to worship him.
-
I'm going to begin to sing a song of praise of him.
-
Hallelujah. I'm going to begin to give glory
-
to Him because his word. Oh, it's treasured up on the
-
inside of me and I can't help but to sing praises to his name.
-
Hallelujah. It's a byproduct.
-
What's in your mouth will come out of your heart and come out
-
of your heart. Come out of your mouth because
-
it's so rich within you and you'll have a song.
-
Can't help but to praising, can't help but to sing a song, a
-
hymn, a spiritual song making a melody.
-
Come on because the word of God. Listen to what Hebrew says.
-
We're closing the word of God in Hebrews chapter 4 verse 12 says
-
for the word of God is living and active.
-
How can you come in here and act dead if you've been meditating
-
on the word day and night and you come in here like a bubble?
-
The log, come on. I'm just, it's, it says it right
-
here. His word is alive.
-
His word is active, full of power, making it operative,
-
energizing and effective. It is sharper than any 2 edged
-
sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and the
-
spirit, the completeness of a person of both joint and marrow
-
to the deepest parts of our nature, exposing and judging the
-
very thoughts and intentions of one's art.
-
Hallelujah, glory to God. Oh thank you Jesus, thank you
-
Jesus. And look at the last thing he
-
says about Proverbs chapter 4. It says that his, his word,
Proverbs 4 chapter mention
-
those that write it, they are life.
-
Life to those who find them life.
-
You should be so energized. Come on, you should be so full
-
of life. You should be so excited that
-
the word of God is in you, the seed of God's word, the divine
-
nature, everything that pertains to life and godliness dwells on
-
the inside of you. Glory to God, giving you life,
-
giving you nourishment, giving you everything you need every
-
single day. Hallelujah.
-
And you know what it brings? Healing.
-
It brings healing to your life, healing to your soul, healing to
-
your emotions. See, when you're in the Word,
-
come on, you ought to be so full.
-
Healing health to all their flesh.
-
That word in the Greek is MARPE medicine.
-
It's the medicine you need every day, daily.
-
What do we say? Take your medicine because it's
-
going to be health and it's going to be healing to you.
-
And if you are sick, if you are broke down, come on.
-
If your emotions are controlling you, if all of these
-
circumstances are going on and you are losing control, come on,
-
it's because you've got treasured up and eat in your
-
daily bread. Where is the life source that's
-
going to flow to you for what you need in that meaning?
-
Listen, when you look up that word, MARPE, healing for
-
disease, just reading the word, just meditating on the word,
-
healing your body, healing your diseases.
-
This is a result of us being so full of God's word that disease
-
cannot stay in your body. It's a byproduct.
-
Healing is the dinner bread or the dinner bell of healing is a
-
byproduct of our salvation and the one way we need to take our
-
medicine every day so that disease can be pushed out of our
-
body. What about the next thing that
-
word means a refreshing of your body and your mind.
-
A refreshing, we know Roman said he can quicken your mortal body,
-
refresh you in your mind and in your body.
-
And you know what that word also means?
-
A deliverance from any type of calamity.
-
You might have had calamity in your life.
-
You know what you need to do? Just meditate on the word.
-
Just meditate on the word day and night.
-
Come on and just receive your deliverance from that calamity
-
that just happened in your life. Just meditating on the Word,
-
inclining your ear, observing and doing, consenting and
-
submitting to the Word of God, the byproduct of it, the last
-
thing it means. It's the remedy for tranquility
-
of mine. It's the remedy, right?
-
We take our medicine for what? The remedy of healing?
-
And he's letting us know the remedy for a crazy mind.
-
Come on, is meditating in the word day and night.
-
You will have tranquility of mind and then you know what
-
else? It's connected to your mouth
-
because he says you will have a meek tongue.
-
Wow, that's what that MARP means in the Greek.
-
Wow, let's be people this year as believers to say, you know
-
what? I'm going to meditate in his
-
word day and night. I'm going to read and partake of
-
the bread of life. Come on every day and I'm going
-
to chew it and bite it one day at a time.
-
I'm going to just take it in. I'm going to meditate it.
-
I'm going to bite on it. I'm going to eat on it, come on.
-
And I'm going to begin to be person that's going to just
-
begin to speak his word in every situation.
-
Listen, make it your New Year's resolution and I guarantee you,
-
you will see the result of just you dedicating yourself to read
-
the word and meditate on it and speak it and believe it and do
-
it and see the changes that you need in your life.
-
Amen. Hallelujah in that exciting, in
-
that good news, he said. Listen, I am the bread of life
-
and all you got to do is just take a bite every day.
